Although she kept her face solemn as was warranted by the proceedings she greeted both of the officers. "Good morning Sir, Lt Trei. I hope you are both well this morning?" Not really expecting an answer from either of them she set her own padd down on the desk in front of her and turned her attention towards the Captain. As she had expected he was all business and immediately began to outline the salient facts as stated in her report and her conclusions. Once the Captain was finished he gave Josh another long look and Josh wasn't entirely sure why. She simply had not served as FO to this Captain long enough to know him well or even begin to second guess him. This was something that Josh knew she needed to rectify however it was going to have to wait for another time, since this morning was neither the time nor the place. Finally the Captain spoke again. “Commander, I'd like you to further explain your findings, and then Lieutenant Trei may respond in kind.” Josh nodded. "Very well Sir. Lt Trei, are you ready to begin?" (Reply Trei) "On the date in question, Stardate 2413.10.16 crew members from the USS Boudicca were performing various rescue missions on the planet Jahdara III. Lt Trei was tasked with security for the detail lead by the then ACEO Ensign (jg) Anton Gesar. Ensign Gesar was in charge of shutting down the main power reactor on the planet and once his team entered the facility they began the shutdown procedure. Some of Ensign Gesar's team were in the reactor room itself and Ensign Gesar, Lt Trei and another part of the engineering team were in the Reactor Control Room monitoring. Something however went wrong with the shut down procedure and before Ensign Gesar could diagnose the problem or even attempt to circumvent or repair it Lt Trei took it upon himself to remove a component from the reactor by brute force. This caused an explosion in the Reactor room which caused the deaths of the team in that room. Secondary explosions further caused the death of one other person in the Reactor Control Room, serious injury to another member of the crew in that room and the subsequent exposure to potentially deadly radiation to the rest of the away teams and the rescue team tasked to with their rescue. That is all I have to report at present Sir." (Reply Durand, Trei) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - TAC/SC Lieutenant(SG) Detron Trei - 08.01) Detron listened to Caskie's report on the events of Jahdara III and the role he played in those events. Captain Durand followed after that with ripping into Detron of his actions during those events. Detron could understand some of the reason for punishment but not to take the fall for it all. Detron went next. "I see the need to punish me for what happened on Jahdara III but not to be fully responsible for all that happened. I acted as if it needed to be done quickly or everyone on the Colony would die. Mr Gesar indicated to me that I was a murderer and had no honor. He further said to me that he wished me to not help him from the point of the explosion on. I recovered Mr. Tarson from one of the reactor rooms. I brought him to the Control Room and set him down in front of Mr. Gesar. Mr. Gesar then tended to Mr. Tarson and rejected me childishly from the scene. I took a defensive position on the far wall until the rescue team came and took action. It seems my word has no weight in this matter for all punishment is falling on me. That is how I saw the events." ~You have walked down the wrong road Mr. Gesar. Now you will see what happens as a result of that.~ (Reply Durand, Caskie) (Posted by Edward) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - QV - ACEO Ensign(jg) Henry Jacobs - 0816) Jacobs walked into the QV to see Gesar thumbing through a padd and having a cup of coffee. Jacobs made his way over to him and greeted him. " You wanted to see me?" (Reply jacobs) (Posted by Darryl) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - QV - aCEO Ensign Anton Gesar - 0817) Anton was still looking through the PADD when Ensign Jacobs walked into the QV. Jacobs made his way over to him and greeted him. " You wanted to see me?" Anton looked up at the Ensign, ~You wanted to see me SIR.~ Anton thought. Deciding that perhaps it was just a slip he decided to let it go. "Yes Ensign, I did. Please have a seat. The reason I wanted to see you was that while I have had opportunity to work with you I have not had a chance to get to know you personally. What I am trying to say is that I would like to find out where you came from, something beyond what is in your service record. I would also like to know what your goals are in respect to Starfleet and to Engineering. Of course I would also like to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have of me." Anton sipped his coffee, "Would you like me to start by telling you about myself or would you like to go first?" (Reply Jacobs) (Posted by Oleg Kislyuk) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - QV - ACEO Ensign(jg) Henry Jacobs - 0821) Jacobs always hated talking about his life so when Ensign Gesar asked him to inform him about his life beyond his service record it took him a minute to formulate an answer. "My service record doesn't say much because I haven't been out of Starfleet Academy for too long. All my life I have been around Engineering, repairing runabouts and crafts of that type. It's how my dad supported us, and I always came along with him. In my free time I constantly work out, that discipline helps me exercise my mind and understand all facets of a problem. I am always interested in projects and if you couldn't already tell, I am very eager and enthusiastic." ~I don't know if I am boring him or if he is really interested in what I have to say, hopefully some good will come out of this.~ "Sir, if I may, this was a great idea on your part for us to get to know each other. It would be great to have someone to communicate with from time to time. Especially since we work together, sir." Jacobs paused to gauge Ensign Gesar's reaction. "Is there anything you wanted to share with me, sir?" (Reply Gesar) (Posted by Darryl) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, Promenad Braacks Bar 2O/COPS - Lt. Tom and Dahlia Jackson , Day 2 2259*) The crowd in Braacks was well to say the least a tad rough. Tom's instincts were screaming 'Red Alert'. His eyes swept the bar and confirmed his suspicions. There were no Starfleet personnel. He was worried and Dahlia picked up on that sense. (reply: Dahlia) "I think we might want to move out of here. I think this is a situation ready to go bad quickly" Jackson said. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB 989 County Cork 2O/COPS - Lt Tom and Dahlia Jackson Day 2 2304) They moved out of the bat and headed to the County Cork. His mood lightened as they near the Cork and Jackson saw some SF officers Tom and Dahlia entered the Cork. Tom relaxed as the atmosphere seemed much more lighter and relaxed- not tense like Braacks's. Tom scanned the area and saw a few SF types in attendance. He waved at them and sat down. He had a surprise for Dahlia - he was going to sing a song for her if they offered Karaoke. (reply: any present) (poted by: Bill) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - County Cork - ATAC/SC Ensign(jg) Jessica Signos - Day 2 - 2306*) She got a late start on what would be a busy day. It was a soon to be a new year, and she celebration would be all about the station. She decided that the day would require an outfit equally has special. Jessica wore a yellow silk dress that tied around her neck and an fell mid-calf. A large red sash wrapped her waist and gave the dress it's shape. Her dress was open backed leaving her back exposed to the cool night air. The sides of her hair were pulled back and wrapped with a adorned gold piece that held the two sides together. The back of her hair fell to the small of her back and was laced with babies breath. A blue rose was tucked into her hair on the left side, a nice contrast to her wide emerald eyes. She sat at the bar surrounded by people who were dancing, talking, and drinking the night way in celebration of the coming of the New Year. Jessica, found herself at the bar looking over the crowed. Her face flushed from the last round of dancing. The Bartender passed her a drink... "It will make you feel alive again." He told her, Causing Jessica to eye the man suspiciously. "Don't worry me lass nothing alcoholic in that just thought you need it, from all the dancing you've been doing." "What is it?" She asked the bartender. "Pomegranate and Ginger ale." he told her. "Ahhh." She replied before taking a sip of the liquid. After deciding all was right, she took a longer pull from the glass. The Country Cork was full of people; people dancing, people eating and drinking, people talking and joking the night away. Some she knew from either the Boudicca or the Rosenante. While others she could only guess at. Then a man entered the the Cork, he was kinda hard to miss due to what he wore. ~Isn't that an World War II military uniform.~ she thought to herself before looking back over the bar, finding that her glass was empty. "Another, please." She asked in a soft, kind voice. next thing she knew the man in the military uniform had taken a seat next to her own and had ordered what had to be the drink the Country Cork was most known for a Guinness. He turned to make his way into the crowd he scanned the room has his eyes fell on Jessica, he looked away, but his eyes quickly returned to her, in mild confusion. He made his way over to her. "Hey, great party, huh?" But his voice was lost in the crowd. "I said great party, huh?!" Eian said this time his voice loud enough to cut though the noise of the crowd. "Oh, yes it is. Wasn't expecting it to be so noisy" Was the young Jessica's reply, has her drink was laid on the bar top next to her. He chuckled. "It's normal for this kind of place. Have you ever been in an Irish pub before?" She smiled. "Yes, I have not many though. Always have found them to be a nice enough place." "I was born in Ireland. We moved when I was six, but my family went back regularly. I'm Eian O'Neill," he said, shifting his drink to his other hand so he could shake hers. "Really." placing her hand in his. "I'm Jessica Signos. I hope this New Year finds you well?" (reply O'Neill.) "It's nice to meet you. So are you stationed on a ship, or are you a civvie...?" "On Ship." her answer was short, has she took a drink of the cool liquid in her glass. A coy grin graced her face. "I see, how are things then on the Rosenante?" (reply O'Neill) (posted by Matthew Locke) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Starbase 989 Docked, Main Engineering, CEO Lt. Steven Matrix, 2313) Matrix let out a rather loud yawn and sat back in his chair. ~Done...daily logs finally done.~ thought Matrix. "Okay, that's done. Duty roster completed, ships status completed. Inventory completed." said Matrix aloud as the comm channel chirped indicating an incoming message. "Ensign Gesar to Lieutenant Matrix." =^= Matrix here. Go ahead Ensign. =^= "Sir, I just read our message. I'm all set to go to tonight's celebration, I was planning to make my way to the Country Cork. I heard some of the others on the ship talk about it and sounded like a good place. Perhaps you'd care to meet me there and we can get acquainted and set some plans for tomorrow. If you have other plans of course I would be glad to come to the Rosenante first thing tomorrow morning and would be honored if you could come aboard the Boudicca for an informal inspection of the engineering systems and crew." =^= Ah...yes...of course. My apologies for not contacting you directly, but I didn't know if you were on duty, R&R or sleeping. I would be more than happy to meet you at the Country Cork later. I'm sure much of my staff will already be there. I have some things to finish up here, but I'll head over shortly. Matrix out. =^= Matrix picked up his yellow PADD and started to review the maintenance status and paused. ~Its late, I'm tired...this can wait.~ "Computer, save logs. Matrix-Omega three-three enable. Close logs. Dim lights." said Matrix. [Acknowledged. Logs saved.] --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - The County Cork - Combat Nurse – E’Mpak - 2315*) E’Mpak walked up to the entrance of the County Cork pub. She had heard from some of the other crewman that to celebrate the New Year the County Cork pub was to the place to be. As she paid her credits the door man he looked up at her and smiled as she stood in front of him in her armoured Klingon uniform. “You do know that this is fancy dress.” E’Mpak leaned close to the man so that her face was inches away from his and glaring hard a him. “Do you really think I do fancy dress? The man’s face whitened and he swallowed. “Um no you don’t. So what are you going to do?” She stood up and lifted the bottle of blood wine that she was carrying. “I am here to get drunk. This is a party is it not?” “Yes it is. Have a good time.” She entered the crowded pub and slowly moved her way towards the bar. As she reached the bar she stood beside a Betazed who was wearing a Starfleet uniform of a lieutenant. She placed the bottle on the bar. “Here is some blood wine a very good vintage. You cannot have a party with out some good blood wine. Can I have a..” She turned and looked at the Lieutenant. “Excuse me Lieutenant is that a Guinness…” (Reply Trei) She looked at the bar woman. “Can I have what he is having please.” (Reply Trei any) (Posted by Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - The County Cork - TAC/SC Lieutenant(SG) Detron Trei - 2316*) Detron saw a Klingon woman he has not met before place a bottle of Bloodwine on the bar. It looked to be very good vintage and Detron intended to try some when the ball drops to ring in the new year. She indicated that the drink Detron had in front of him was Guinness. Then she changed her thoughts in mid stream and asked for what Detron was drinking. Detron turned to face her. "We have not met. I am TAC/SC Lieutenant(SG) Detron Trei on the Boudicca. The drink I have in front of me is called a Hurricane. It is a very potent Earth drink consisting of nearly 95 percent alcohol and some other ingredients to make it taste tropical. Pleased to meet you. Tell me about yourself." ~This ought to be fun. Two Klingons in a bar on New Years Eve. No danger in that. Righhhhhhhhhhhht.~ (Reply E'Mpak) (Posted by Edward) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - County Cork - ATAC/SC Ensign(jg) Jessica Signos - Day 2 - 2319*) She measured the man next to her. He seemed nice enough, maybe a bit unsure about himself, but that could happen to a number of people for a number of reasons. "Well, considering we're on shore leave, things are pretty slow. But no news is good news, I guess, after the whole murder investigation on the station. Were you around for that?" He spoke to her trying to keep the conversation going. Jessica took a moment to reply, truth was she was just has nervous has he was. ~What happens when he finds out who and what I am? Will he think me a freak, an equal, or some child that needs to be protected and unable to care for herself. ~ She looked into his eyes searching for those answers. before she answered "I'm sorry but I was not on the station at that time. I was with the Boudicca on Jahdara III at the time, helping with the relief effort for the colony. But a murder on the station I bet that had everyone on edge. hopefully they caught whoever was responsible." She started to rabble on. A bad habit she did whenever she was nervous. She quickly caught herself, became very quite and quite red with embarrassment. She looked away, then glanced back at Eian, several time each one expecting him to be gone. "I'm sorry." She finally spoke up. "bad habit." "Oh, okay. Well, you missed a bit of excitement," he said, and took a sip of Guinness. "So what do you do 'on ship'?" He threw in a smile for good measure. She smiled back. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." (reply Eian) "Well, if you must know I'm the ATAC on the Bouddica." She finally broke down to tell him. "Other than that I've only been out of academy for a few months now. So I haven't had a chance to make to many friends, most tend to wanna treat me like a child and not what I am. I can be kinda infuriating ." She continued on saying more than she wanted, but something about the man next to her relaxed her, made her feel more comfortable around him. ~ maybe he's just has misunderstood has I am, maybe, just maybe he can relate.~ (reply Eian) (posted by Matthew Locke.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, The Country Cork, CEO. Lt. Steven Matrix, 2320*) Matrix took the short turbo-lift and tram over to starbase 989 and a short time later entered the Country Cork. It reminded him of a hometown establishment he frequented often while back on Earth, in Colorado. The atmosphere was vibrant. He recognized many from the Rosenante and suspected the strangers must be from the Boudicca. Matrix made his way up to the main bar. "Can I help you sir?" asked the bartender. "Yes, Russian Vodka Martini, dirty-dry with four olives please." replied Matrix. Matrix slouched on one arm and turned toward the crowd and looked around to see who was present. Lt. Peter Cohen was both visible and unmistakable at the Karaoke stage. Peter was singing a Feringi folklore song about profit and doing a rather poor job of it at that. Matrix smiled. "Here you go sir, will there be anything else?" asked the bartender. "Not unless you can direct me to Ensign Gesar?" replied Matrix. "Yes sir. I did see him in here earlier....yes, he's at the other end of the bar." replied the bartender. "Thank you." said Matrix. He took a sip of this drink and headed over toward the Ensign. There was a table nearby already occupied. Matrix took note of the group and whispered something into the ear of the largest man at the table. The man's expression changed instantly and he and his friends vacated immediately. Matrix looked back at Ensign Gesar and motioned him over to the now vacant table. (Reply Gesar, any) (Posted by Matrix) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - The County Cork - aFO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 2 - 2321*) It hadn't been easy but finally Josh had managed to persuade her erstwhile benefactor that she truly wasn't interested in anything that he wanted to offer her and he had gone in search of other prey. That however had not stopped the rest of the sharks from continually circling and coming closer hoping for a bite. If one more hand rested on her back, her head, or her shoulder she had already made up her mind that she was simplygoing to break it no questions asked. She had managed to take a sip or two of her wine in peace before another hand closed on her shoulder and a voice started to whisper in her ear. Given the noise level in the Cork Josh couldn't really hear everything the voice said but she certainly heard enough, "Hello sexy,************** that it's painful ************* gorgeous woman *********** by herself?" Josh didn't even bother with a flip answer this time she simply sighed, rolled her eyes and carefully putting her drink down on the table grasped the hand on her shoulder with both of hers and standing up began to twist and apply pressure in the opposite direction as she turned towards the newest shark. What surprised her was that somehow the hand slid out of her grasp and Josh spun around quicker surprised that someone not only knew that grip but had managed to evade it somehow. Her surprise turned to delight when she saw who was actually standing behind her and she smiled and started laughing. "Did you're mother never tell you that it's not polite to sneak up behind a woman on her own." (Reply Mike) "Well you should have listened to her." She watched as Mike snagged the nearest chair and drawing it up beside her sat down. The poor Ensign, whom it had belonged to, looked at Mike for a long moment or two and then deciding that discretion was indeed the better part of valour decided to simply stand for the rest of the evening. Josh resting her elbow on the table, rested her chin in herpalm and simply gazed at Mike. "It's wonderful to see you again. How have you been? What have you been doing with yourself and what are you doing after midnight?" (Reply Mike) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - The County Cork - SO Ensign Mike Rosenbauer - Day 2 - 2322) There was a pause as Mike moved his lips from her ear, but Jennifer wasn't done with him yet. She reached up, attempted to place Mike in a nasty painful grip, which fortunately he knew the counter to, before she turned around to take a look at the man that had been silly enough to lay a hand on her. There was a look of surprise on her face, which thankfully transformed into one of delight. She was smiling broadly and there was laughter in her voice. "Did your mother never tell you that it's not polite to sneak up behind a woman on her own." She chided. "A few times actually." Mike replied, as he returned her infectious grin of pleasure. It was good to see her again. "Well you should have listened to her." There was a lightheartedness about her tone that told Mike that everything was going well for her. It was what he had been hoping for from the start, considering the conditions under which she had previously left the fleet. Mike reached over and grabbed the nearest chair, which was about to be occupied by a junior ensign wearing science blue. He pulled the chair over to sit next to Jennifer and seated himself. The young ensign almost fell, having already convinced himself that there should be a chair there already. Finding none, he gave Mike a glare, but the veteran security man just ignored him. The junior man decided well-enough was the best he could hope for and turned his attentions elsewhere. Josh resting her elbow on the table, rested her chin in her palm and simply gazed at Mike. "It's wonderful to see you again. How have you been? What have you been doing with yourself and what are you doing after midnight?" Mike's smile grew even larger as he regarded the lovely woman gazing upon him. It was enough to give him an immediate contact high. The electricity between them was almost palpable. "I've been wasting away with longing..." He teased her, "but other than that I've been well enough I suppose. I couldn't believe my luck when I heard you were back in the fleet and aboard the Boudicca, at that. Especially since the chances of the two ships being in the same port at the same time are fundamentally damned near impossible." He gestured for the bartender, pointed at Josh's white wine and then signaled that he wanted two of them, before he continued. "God I've missed you Jennifer, the Rosenante just isn't the same without you. I'm so very glad to see you again." The drinks arrived and Mike took a quick sip of his white wine and then paid for it with a press of his thumb on the transaction pad. "As for after Midnight..." He shrugged, "I suppose that depends on you." He gave her a sly smile, that wasn't in the slightest bit shy. he was all but dying to get her alone. (reply Caskie) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters - FO - Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 2323*) The chime at the door roused T'Larah from her meditation. As her mind settled in to the here and now, she tried to remember who would be at her door at this hour. ~Masters, and he's late.~ "Enter." she said, she remained seated with her legs crossed. Doug entered the room slowly, not knowing what to expect. He hadn't been in T'Larah's quarters since the Academy. This one was quite a bit bigger. Also being a little late, would probably not endear him to T'Larah the officer who was very rarely ever late. The main living space was layed out largely empty. What little furniture there was was pushed against the outer walls. In the center of the room a large mat was layed out. Sullivan sat in the middle wearing her white meditation robes. "Mister Masters, you are over an hour and ten minutes late, would you care to explain yourself?" she inquired simply. "They needed me in engineering. I was performing maintenance on the SIF and I guess I lost track of time I'm sorry." he said his face was a little flushed with embarrassment, his answer was honest enough. T'Larah sensed his embarrassment, but made no indication of it. "I can understand that, I'm sure Lieutenant Matrix appreciates the assistance. In the future however, I assume that you will endeavor to be more punctual." He quietly breathed a sign of relief. "Absolutely, I'd hate to disappoint an old friend." T'Larah stood and turned to face Doug and saw he was still in his uniform. "That attire is not appropriate for our plans tonight." she said. "Look who's talking." he quipped indicating the plain white robe she was in. "I will change as well." she explained. "Meet me on the station's promenade 2345. I surmise that since you are here in your uniform you rushed over when you realized you were late?" "Yeah." he answered. ~Where is this going?~ "When you get to your quarters you will find the appropriate attire." she said. "See you in a little while." (Reply none) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - The County Cork - ACEO Ensign(jg) Henry Jacobs - 2324*) Henry had been sitting at the bar staring at the entrance for a few minutes now, counting heads and keeping a personal tally of those who entered wearing Starfleet uniforms. Even though he didn't know everyone's name Henry noticed several crew members from the Boudicca pay their entrance fee and slip into the crowd of people waiting to usher in the new year. Jacobs was keen at ease dropping and took his time listening in on various conversations that his ears had picked up from around the room. He heard various plans for post celebration get-togethers and plenty of other people talking about work that needed to be done in their departments. Jacobs then had the feeling that someone was intruding on his personal space; he felt someone standing a little to close to his stool and could tell it was a man who was obviously harassing someone in the stool next to him. Jacobs became increasingly uneasy as the intruder was seriously impeding on his personal space. Jacobs was about to turn around and confront the man when all of a sudden someone had done it for him. The softest hands had embraced his face and turned him to the warmest lips. Jacobs had been volunteered to run defense for a gorgeous woman who hands down could command fleets with her smile. The kiss which seemed to last for 6 years eventually came to an end and when his senses returned to him he sat there in a stupor. "Um...hi," she replied, and all Jacobs could do was still sit there and try to gather his thoughts. Jacobs was usually very quick on his feet and by now would have blurted out some suave yet predictable quip, but he hesitated. ~Play it smooth and dont be a monkeys ass~ "Thank you, I'll have another." She smiled and began to open her mouth as to apologize but was quickly cut off. "You want another drink or another one of those," the bartender chuckled as he pointed to the liquor behind him and the Ensign in front of him. The bartender was conveniently standing in front of the two which saved Jacobs from saying something stupid. "Hey my name is Henry Jacobs and I am the ACEO on board the USS Boudicca, pleasure to meet you." (Reply Saint Jean) (Posted by Darryl) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - Promenade - SO Ensign Eva Saint Jean- Day 2- 2325) "Thank you, I'll have another." The man quipped, causing Eva to blush a little bit more than she had intended. Eva started to apologize, but was saved, in a sense, by the Bartender, who happened to chose that exact moment to make his presence known. "You want another drink or another one of those?" the bartender chuckled as he pointed first to the liquor behind him and then at the man Eva had just kissed. She stumbled over her tongue for a moment before she finally managed to answer. "Yes another would be nice." she said. The bartender just looked at her and his smile broadened. "Another drink..." she clarified, as she realized how that must have sounded. "Coming right up." The keep responded and then turned to make her the requested drink. She polished off the first one in a series of large gulps, as she mentally calmed herself. ~No one to blame but yourself, Eva.~ She reminded herself. "Hey, my name is Henry Jacobs and I am the ACEO on board the USS Boudicca, pleasure to meet you." The man sitting next to her stated. She turned to look at him, making note of his broad shoulders, square jaw and hard-worked arms. He had dark hair, green eyes and skin the color of Mocha. All-in-all he was a very attractive man. She realized with a sense of humor that she hadn't really given him a second glance before she had planted a kiss on his lips. She smiled at him, "Eva Saint Jean." She replied, "I'm on the Rosenante." "I hope you don't get the wrong idea about me Henry. I'm not that kind of girl, I was just backed into a corner, and you looked like a nice fellow." She explained. "I hope I haven't inconvenienced you?" She gave him a small smile as the bartender placed her second brilliant green drink on the bar in front of her. She pressed her thumb to the transaction block and gave Henry another smile. (reply Jacobs) "Truth of the matter was, some of these guys only have one thing in mind, and well, I'd rather really get to know someone first, if you get my drift. I happened to need someone to kiss to drive away the sharks and you looked like someone that needed to be kissed. I hope I didn't embarrass you?" He figured she probably thought he was nervous and therefore a loser. ~Eian, you've got to stop this. You're distracting yourself, more than you need to be.~ "I'm sorry but I was not on the station at that time," she answered his question. "I was with the Boudicca on Jahdara III at the time, helping with the relief effort for the colony. But a murder on the station I bet that had everyone on edge. Hopefully they caught whoever was responsible." She suddenly turned red, apparently embarrassed for some reason or another. "I'm sorry." She said, "bad habit." ~Wonder what she means by that?~ He shrugged, though, and gave her a smile. "Well, you missed a bit of excitement," he said, and took a sip of Guinness. "So what do you do 'on ship'?" She smiled back at him. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." He raised an eyebrow. "Well, there are only so many jobs on a starship...I think I've heard of most of them." He chuckled, somewhat nervously. "Well, if you must know I'm the ATAC on the Bouddica." Eian saw her body language visibly relax, and he realized that telling him must have been something she really didn't want to do. ~People must judge her for her appearance,~ he thought, somewhat sadly. ~People can be so ignorant.~ "Other than that I've only been out of academy for a few months now. So I haven't had a chance to make to many friends, most tend to wanna treat me like a child and not what I am. I can be kinda infuriating." He gave her a kind smile. He understood what it meant to be instantly identified as 'different'. Most people didn't take kindly to him when he was a child, as he fidgeted, talked endlessly, got angry quickly, and tended to annoy most of the people around him. Eian's mother had an extremely difficultpregnancy, and he knew that if he had been conceived a hundred years earlier, he most certainly would have died before birth. Two irreversible consequences of that pregnancy had been his ADHD and his short stature. He was constantly being identified as younger than he was, and although he didn't have the child-like appearance that Jessica did, he definitely remembered the teachers having to check their rosters to make sure there wasn't a lost little boy in their secondary school classroom full of teenagers. "I understand the feeling," he said, and then smirked. "People always tend to sell us short!" (reply Signos) Eian laughed. ~She liked the joke! Score one for me!~ "You know, I just graduated from the Academy a few months ago, too. And one of my majors was Tactical--I was in Blue Class 4. How about you?" Especially since the chances of the two ships being in the same port at the same time are fundamentally damned near impossible." He gestured for the bartender, pointed at Josh's white wine and then signaled that he wanted two of them, before he continued. Josh smiled at Mike and then shook her head, "no, actually that depends on you. I have no intention of monopolising you if you need to be somewhere else. but if you don't I'm pretty sure that I can find something for you to do that is probably a lot more interesting than you had planned for this evening." He didn't want to be late again. ~I think I might have broke some kind of speed record coming over here.~ He was rather surprised when he arrived at his guest quarters on the station and found a black pin stripe suit from the '20s and '30s of the 20th century Earth. There was even a fedora in a hat box. He thought it was a joke until he actually got to the promenade and saw a good third of the people roaming around were actually in costume. There was a commotion down the corridor in the promenade. It seemed the event in question was catching the attention of a lot of the patrons on this side of the station. ~Maybe a medical emergency?~ Doug guessed. He made his way towards the disturbance. What he saw was not a medical emergency, but in fact was T'Larah making her way down the promenade towards the collective three establishment party. The reason she was causing such a commotion was because of what she was wearing. Not a uniform, and Doug was sure it wasn't Vulcan in origin. In fact it was a slinky black sequined cocktail dress from the same planet and time period as Doug's own suit. As a delayed reaction Doug's jaw joined the rest of the corridor on the floor. ~Wow she is stunning.~ Doug quickly composed himself as she approached. "You're on time." T'Larah said. Doug smiled, "Didn't want to disappoint. At first I didn't understand the suit you left for me," he said and looked her up and down. "Now it makes perfect sense." "You know what I could go for?" Matthew half-heartedly asked the two officers. Mosh raised an eyebrow. " What would that be?" He asked. "Chocolate Mousse." Matthew replied with a smacking of lips. "I fail to see exactly what a Large North American Mammal and a confection made from the Theobroma Cacoa tree have in common." T'Vyr replied seriously. Both Mosh and Matthew gave the Vulcan science officer a long look before breaking into riotous laughter. The Vulcan for his part in the charade seemed nonplussed, although Matthew was laughing so hard he was turning red with exertion. The cry of " 10...9...8..." broke the two revelers from their laughing stupor as the seconds ticked away towards New Years day. The intensity of the combined voices of the crowd seemed to swell like a storm surge rushing towards an unsuspecting island in the middle of the night. "...3...2...1..." The Cry of "Happy New Years!" washed over the assembled masses on the station's promenade with an almost physical force. The thousands of party horns, noise makers and voices combined into an audible assault on every sense. The decibels were almost unbearable as the noise reached its crescendo. The Time Square Ball replica plunged downward, covering the three story drop in a little over three seconds. Confetti seemed to materialize in mid air above the crowd, which was possible when you thought about it, and inundated the collective masses. It piled up in corners and clung to personnel and uniforms with equal longing. Matthew found himself swamped by well wishers, people he didn't know wishing him a happy new years and a few old friends doing the same. The pulse of the crowd was alive, personal and epic in its scope. For at least a few minutes, every single person on the station could lay aside their differences and embrace a friend or perhaps a stranger and wish them well for the foreseeable future. The moment of revelry didn't last long for Matthew, however. The sight and sounds of all the partygoers only reminded him of how much he missed his wife. Three times since he'd put in to shore, he had tried to contact her. And three times he had heard no response. He suspected that she considered him a vagrant husband. But he had tried to explain to her that there had been no choice in the matter. Starfleet had ordered him to depart the Boudicca. They had not allotted him any explanation or time to say proper goodbyes. Instead of a tearful parting of ways, he and Ariana had been screaming words of blame and recrimination. He had departed angry, and she had refused to speak to him ever since. Then to complicate matters there had been the time jump. The sudden push five years into the future had done nothing to make matters easier. Case in point, they had made matters much worse. There had been the initial fear that Ariana thought him dead, which even though it had turned out differently, had caused him no shortage of anxiety. It had made contacting her more difficult and he had wondered if she had thought his messages after the jump had been some sort of communication from the beyond. Although an intelligent woman, she was prone to some degree to be superstitious. This could perhaps be traced back to her origins on Iradon. The world was stuck in a perpetual Dark Ages; isolated from this universe by a millennia long cycle in which it moved between two adjacent universes. But none of the words or lack of them had hurt him worse than tonight. Here he was on the same station, and all his attempts to contact her had been unsuccessful. He didn't know if she had rejected him completely now, or if she was even still aboard the Boudicca at all. He had spent hours sitting on the promenade across from the Boudicca's gang-plank hoping to catch her leaving the ship to take in some shopping. Maybe he'd be able to force her to at least acknowledge that he existed. Maybe he could do so at least long enough to tell her that he was sorry and to ask for her forgiveness. (Reply Signos, O'Neal) (Posted by Edward ) ======================================================= (Starbase 989 - Reactor Control - NPC Crewman Martin Kosinsky - 0038) ~I hate drawing the short straw!~ Kosinsky was somewhere in the middle of the seniority list, and he really, *really* had wanted the night off. He had heard from numerous sources that the New Year’s Eve party scheduled on the Promenade was going to be *epic*... and being the diehard, drink & dance ‘til you drop type, he was almighty disappointed that he had been scheduled to work the gamma shift. He had schemed, cajoled, coerced, and connived to the very limit in trying to get the night off. No luck. So, here he found himself unhappily standing watch in the wee hours along with the rest of a skeleton crew. He was just mightily wishing he were elsewhere when a muted beep from the console drew his attention. He scowled, being unhappy with anything that drew him from his thoughts of the party he was missing. He called up an interrogative, then another, before he came to the inevitable conclusion. He raised his voice loud enough to be heard across the room. “Chief Evans? I think you need to see this.” The senior watchstander, Chief Petty Officer Roger Evans was not overly fond of Kosinsky, correctly appraising him as a bit of a layabout, more concerned with his off duty time than his work. He nonetheless moved quickly from the supervisory board over to Kosinsky’s station. “What is it Marty?” Kosinsky gestured at the display. “Chief, looks like a power fluctuation. Deck 3, near the industrial sections. I think its coming from one of the power distribution nodes there.” Evans frowned at him. “You *think*? You think its coming from there? Damn man... get your head back on duty from wherever it’s idling and *figure it out*” Evans turned and headed back to his own board to check the problem from there. Meanwhile, Kosinsky began working to isolate the problem, muttering to himself all the while. “These readings don’t make any sense...” Chief Evans was thinking the very same thing. He pulled the same information up that the crewman had been studying, and came to a quick conclusion. He moved to a storage cabinet, and withdrew an engineering tricorder and diagnostic toolkit. He walked quickly back to Kosinsky’s work station. “Son, you’re not going to fix this one by pushing buttons and mumbling. Take these, get to that junction and check it out. Report as soon as you find anything.” Kosinsky was about to protest, but saw the look in the Chief’s eye and thought better of it. “Yes sir, I’ll get right on it.” --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - Deck 3, Jeffries tube Beta - NPC Crewman Martin Kosinsky - 0049) With some difficulty, Martin had wriggled himself from the nearest access point almost forty meters away through the tight confines of the tube. It was made difficult by the fact that this particular area rarely needed maintenance, and the tube was a small one. Doubling the problem was the fact that Kosinsky was well into the ‘portly’ category due to his lax approach to fitness and his recreational habits. Combined, it was a tight squeeze indeed. He hoped the next junction was bigger so he could turn around... What the hell? Glancing ahead, he thought he could see something moving in the shadows. Not something... but the shadows themselves seemed to be moving. That was crazy. Wasn’t it? He moved forward a few more meters until he was at the power junction. This was an oft forgotten, but critical part of the EPS system for the station. In this particular junction, the primary and secondary EPS distribution networks interconnected, allowing energy to flow from one to the other system as needed, as well as feed energy from either or both systems to loads in the industrial section as required. The entire process was monitored and metered through an independent subprocessor that in turn reported back to the computers in reactor control. Therein must lie the problem, he thought. Bad sensor or something... He touched the access plate with his bare hand and pulled it back quickly. It was *hot*! Far more so than any normal load should cause. Waste heat was generated as a byproduct of energy flow in the system. The higher the demand, the more heat. But... the cooling system should be carrying the excess heat load... to say nothing of the fact that at this time of night there should be nothing like the load it would take to generate this much heat. He shook his head and pulled a pair of work gloves out of his pocket, slipping them on his hands. What he should have done next was scan the junction with his tricorder. What he did do next was pop the retention clips off the access cover, and drop the panel open. The last thing Crewman Kosinsky saw was a seething mass of insectoid forms crawling through the power node, glowing with energy. If he had time to think of it, the engineer in him might have marveled at the things. They appeared to be feeding on the plasma flowing through the conduits. As it was, he had time for none of those thoughts. A skittering, crawling, living mass of the things spilled out onto his arms, head, and chest. Perhaps they perceived him as a threat... but he would never know. Reacting blindly to the assault, he flailed his arms and tried to back up at the same time. All he managed to do was lay his arm across the already damaged conduit. His other arm was grasping the tube framing, trying to push him back and away to safety. Either his body, or the mass of creatures, or both, completed a simple circuit. There was a blinding flash that no one saw, as the high energy plasma leapt across his body to the tube framing. Martin Kosinsky was no more than charred particles of matter that settled to the deck. The creatures continued their work. Back in reactor control, Chief Evans and his skeleton crew were faced with the ultimate nightmare. No amount of engineers could possibly hope to deal with the cascade of feedback and overloads created when the station’s primary and secondary energy systems fed back on each other in a manner which their designers never imagined. System after system failed in a matter of seconds. The series of small explosions and fires were mostly contained... the ones in reactor control at any rate. The smoke was so thick and acrid that none of the engineers could see their controls to try and mitigate the situation. They tried to evacuate the compartment, but the noxious gasses overcame them before they could reach the emergency breathing apparatus, or the comm system to call for help. The last conscious act on Evans’ part was to hit the emergency shutdown for the base’s main reactors. Firmware safeties and fail safes had already begun the process. All at once, and nowhere first, the power aboard Starbase 989 failed. Matthew McLaren- Day 3- 0050) Matthew had tuned out all the noise, conversation and chatter as he had been thinking of his lovely wife and the dreadful situation that was their marriage. There was a hollow spot deep inside of his chest that seemed to be expanding, much like the massive maw of the planet killer all those years ago. He had cheated fate then, as the radiation had lay waste to his body, robbing him of his ability to walk and of the control of the right side of his body. Of course since then, he had perfected the subspace implants and neural interfaces that allowed him to once again lead a normal human life. But again, even that would never had come to pass had it not been for Ariana's support and love. It had been the fuel that had driven him; had always driven him, since their return from Iradon so long ago. How had he managed to lose everything he cared for in his life so quickly and so completely? He had lost his wife, his parents and even his friends in one fell swoop of fate. They had been connected since the moment that they had met. He had even broken the Prime Directive to take her from the primitive society where she had lived. Maybe she had learned enough of her new universe to realize that she didn't need Matthew anymore. Maybe she had met someone else; someone that would stay with her and put her before their career. Maybe.... The click of power relays brought Matthew immediately back to the here-and-now as the station plunged into complete darkness. The force field shimmered out of existence as the initial sounds of terror began to spread through the crowded Promenade. ~Oh my God~ Matthew thought, when he realized that the back-up power systems had failed to initialize. Then the Panic started as everyone on the promenade came to the same conclusion. There were screams and the herd mentality of the collected masses suddenly gave into their fears of the primitive darkness and stampeded in any directions that they could travel. Matthew was suddenly slammed by a press of bodies as those around him realized their immediate danger and began to try to move through safety in the darkness. He stumbled, struck his shin on a chair and fell headlong into the outer wall of The County Cork. All around him the screams of people being trampled accompanied the sounds of breaking glass overturning furniture and the sounds of chaos. For him it wasn't the darkness that he feared. It was the knowledge that if all the power systems failed, it wouldn't take very long before life support became critical. With a few thousand people on the station's promenade level, fumbling around in the darkness, the environmental scrubbers would soon find themselves unable to keep up. The air would become toxic quickly and if they were unable to restore power soon, it would turn into a house of carnage unlike anything he'd ever seen. Matthew pressed himself against the outer wall of the building, trying to protect himself from the occasional impact from bodies or unseen furnishings. Once things settled down a bit and the initial shock had passed, he'd see what he could do to lend a hand. But for now. He had to survive. He pushed Jessica into the bar in between two stools, and then trusted she would protect herself from there as he got on top of the bar, kicking glasses out of his way and standing up. Then, with the incredibly loud voice he could produce at a moment's notice, he screamed, "HEY! LISTEN UP!" The crowd didn't fall completely silent, but some stopped and listened to the loud and authoritative voice that was now booming instructions to them. "ALL CIVILIANS, REPORT TO YOUR QUARTERS AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. STARFLEET OFFICERS, REPORT TO YOUR SUPERIORS." He stopped screaming, as most people were listening now. He did still speak in a loud tone, so that the people in the Promenade outside could also hear him. "The docked ships will have life support should we fail to get the station support up soon enough. If that is the case, you will be instructed to move in an ORDERLY fashion to request asylum on one of those ships. Until then, keep your senses--this is a big station, folks. There's plenty of air for everyone to move to their quarters right now. Go now, and account for your loved ones, and DO NOT PANIC." He watched as the crowd moved a bit more orderly now, no one stampeding anyone at least. There were still people scrambling to get out who had ignored what Eian had said, but it wasn't a majority. He wasn’t much of a party goer, but he had to admit it had been fun to socialize and meet so many new faces. Plus, it was nice to get off the ship and stretch his legs. There were only the bare minimum number of watchstanders on the bridge. It was, after all, highly unlikely that anything would happen while they were peacefully docked and the ship and her company were standing down. Regulations, however, required minimal watches be kept. Even if they hadn’t, Durand’s nasty, suspicious mind (some called it prudent, others careful... Alan himself used the ‘nasty/suspicious’ descriptive) would have ordered it to be so. Habitual cup of coffee in hand, he was chatting with the bridge crew about everything and nothing when the lights went out. He was startled but showed no outward surprise. He instantly shifted into his normal command demeanor and was moving even as the emergency lights clicked on. In the dim red glow of emergency power, he made his way aft to the unoccupied engineering station, which itself was functioning in reduced energy mode. Critical systems came up quickly, but were never designed to long operate on battery power. “Would someone mind telling me what the *hell* is going on?” As he waited for a reply, he worked the controls quickly, and scarcely could believe what the instruments indicated. It is a common belief that an attentive Commanding Officer can detect the slightest imbalance or the slightest sign that something isn't right. For some that belief is dismissed as simple superstition or is simply disbelieved. For others, those few who have been Engineers or captains that have experienced it, there is a firm belief in the empathic connection between an officer and his ship. For Ahmed that was the case. His eyes snapped open suddenly, a strange sense that something was amiss. He wasn't certain what it was at first, but he shifted to the edge of his bed in anticipation of a sudden call from the bridge. He was not in error. The lights on the Rosenante suddenly darkened, plunging the ship into complete and total darkness for the span of a heartbeat before second core, which was on standby went fully active. The captain was coming to his feet even as his commbadge chimed. =^=Bridge to the captain.=^= Xim's voice called. "Salid here, Xim, Report." =^=Sir the Station's power systems have failed. we have switched to the standby warp core.=^= Ahmed nodded even though no one could see him as he grabbed his uniform from the back of the chair where it had been prepared for the next day's duty. "How serious is it Mister Xim, are they simply running at reduced capacity?" He asked as he shrugged on his uniform tunic. =^= No sir.=^= the watch officer replied, =^= They have no power at all sir. Their backups seem to have failed also.=^= "Completely failed?" Ahmed asked as he grabbed his rank pips and commbadge and headed out of the door towards the bridge. =^= It appears so captain. We are not detecting any sign of power transference on the station at all. We are showing however that the station is still producing power.=^= There was a pause. =^= captain I'm receiving a hail from Captain Durand aboard the Boudicca.=^= Xim reported. "Patch him through directly to me. I'm on my way to the bridge now." =^= Aye captain, connecting you now.=^= Ahmed stepped into the turbo lift and said quickly "Bridge" before tapping his commbadge to complete the channel to Durand. "Captain Durand," he said, "This is Salid, How can I be of assistance to you tonight?" (reply Durand) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, COPS Quarters, 2O/COPS, Lt Tom Jackson, Day 3- 0100) Tom and Dahlia were relaxing in their quarters. New Years had been fun. They had sneaked away after the ball had dropped signalling a new year and its beginnings. The young couple were sitting on the couch idly chatting about the future and what they each hoped it would hold. As Tom was about he future and what it might hold. Tom was about to tell his wife once again how he loved her when the lights dimmed suddenly. Jackson tapped his ever present Comm Badge "Bridge this is Lt Jackson what is going on?" he asked. (reply Xim or any on bridge) Tom listened and said in reply"Understood Jackson out" and closed the link. He grabbed a uniform and headed out the door after giving Dahlia a sad an sorry shrug of bis shoulders. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Bridge Lt Tom Jackson 2O/COPS Day 3 0102) Tom entered the Bridge. Xim had things under control so Tom went to the main OPS console. His practice eyes scanned the readouts. SB 989 umbilicall feeds were showing no power what so ever. The Rose was in decent shape the secondary core was in stand by mode. Matrix and Company had switched them over so there were in no danger. Jackson had Chief Sheridan get in contact with Engineering. Tom was making note of what could be turned off in case they were forced to go to battery backup . The CO was next on the bridge with the FO soon afterwards. Tom reported to the Captain -"Sir SB 989 has lost all power. We are. currently running on the Secondary core. All Critical systems have power." (reply:Captain) (posted by: Bill) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - County Cork - ACEO Lt. JG Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 0107) After Matrix told him to get to the starbase's engineering and report what was going on, Eian quickly got off comm and turned to Jessica. She was now engaged in conversation with a lieutenant that Eian didn't know. He got the gist of the conversation, though, and was about to suggest they both head to the jefferies tube when an angry mob ran from Braack's. One threw a handmade explosive and it illuminated the Promenade, if only for a few moments. Eian was smart enough not to look directly into the flames, but in looking away he caught sight of the Promenade. It was in complete disorder, people running around, screaming, trampling others, throwing objects into storefronts, looting, robbing their peers...it was one of the worst scenes Eian had seen, and that included the riots on Argos IV. ~How quickly we turn into animals,~ he thought, and shook his head. "Not that I wouldn't love your company Sir, but I think they need you more." Jessica said has she motioned to the bar. "Eian, we move when you're ready." "Let's go," Eian said, and instinctively grabbed Jessica's arm. "We need to move now, before that mob gets in here and blocks our way out," he said, and wasn't even sure if she could hear him over the ruckus. Under normal circumstances, Eian would have protected this beautiful restaurant from an angry mob. It represented a piece of his cultural heritage, something extremely important to him. Even though he had only been on the Starbase for two weeks, he had become attached to it and it would pull at his heart to see it destroyed. But these were not normal circumstances, and the thought of the Cork's welfare didn't even enter his mind as he and Jessica made their way to the jefferies tubes. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989- Promenade- NPC Ted Savoy- Day 3- 0110) The world was imploding all around him as the crowd of thousands suddenly panicked and tried to flee. He wasn't certain why that was important, after all, where were they going to go? The Starbase was an enclosed system after all. Ted pulled himself to his feet, his eyes trying to pierce the darkness that was everywhere. A few of the shops on the promenade had activated their own personal generators much to their dismay. Like moths to the flames, the press of bodies had made their way in that direction looking for a sanctuary and safety in the small hemisphere of light that they had originally offered. Now, the only light on the level was from a few fires that were burning brightly. The majority of the crowd had dispersed, at least for now, but the promenade was far from empty. There were people everywhere, some injured, others looting storefronts or robbing people that were unable to defend themselves. Where just a short while before there had been the sounds of celebration, now there was only the demonic symphony of anguish, pain and the crackling of flames. Somewhere in the distance the sound of a phaser sounded. ~Is this what the end of the world will look like~ Ted wondered. He pulled himself to his feet, he had been slammed into a lighting unit during the scuffle. His head ached and an exploratory probe with the fingers of his right hand came away with a thickening slimy red mess. In the dim Hellish light he could make out masses of people struggling to get up and even more that were laying still, whatever had happened had inspired a type of panic that he had never seen before. "Help!" he shouted. A few more moments later his cry was taken up by those that could do the same. (reply any) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - Jefferies Tube 4-GB - ACEO Lt. JG Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 0111) Eian and Jessica were made for Jefferies tubes. They were small and agile, good at martial arts and therefore flexible, and neither one of them was claustrophobic. At least, Eian had no indication that Jessica was claustrophobic. She went first, merely because she had already mapped out the route. Their tactical circlets allowed them to see where they were going and where to go next, so neither one of them could get lost if they got separated from each other. Additionally, the infrared signature setting on the circlets should allow them to find each other. In the absurdity of the moment, amidst going through the eighty plus things he could think of that would cause a total systems blackout, thinking about Murphy all alone in his quarters, and thanking himself for wearing something as practical as a WWII uniform, he couldn't help but notice that Jessica had a very nice butt. It was hard *not* to notice--she was, after all, wearing a yellow dress that showed up very well on his tactical circlet, and she was crawling in front of him on her hands and knees. ~This is what happens when you have ADHD,~ he thought to himself, knowing that he shouldn't be thinking such things in an emergency situation. But they still entered his mind as they normally would--it's just that the emergency situation provided enough stimulation that he could still focus fully on the problem at hand. "Jessica, there's a power junction up ahead, and there's a high infrared signature coming from it. I want to take an engineering kit from that panel a few meters ahead and see if it might be a fire risk. There's no way in this chaos anyone would notice a jefferies tube fire until it's too late," he said. (reply Jessica) "If I can, I'll fix it or at least take it offline so it can't rupture. If I can't, I'll report it in. Either way, it can't hurt to take a look." (reply Jessica) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - Promenade - TAC/SC Lieutenant(SG) Detron Trei - 0112*) Detron took the suggestion from Signos and O'Neal when he heard the bomb explode on the Promenade. Detron ran for the point of explosion and fought through a mob rush toward the shops. At the shops, he yelled and fired off a warning shot from his phaser in the air. When that didn't work, Detron went to the nearest shop and took a warrior fighting stance. He let out a fierce battle cry. "GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH." "Whoever is in charge here, stand with me and get this mob under control. I'll fight if I have to, but I would rather do it in an organized fashion." (Reply Whoever is in the area) (Posted by Edward) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989- Security Offices- CSEC Lt. Ardaa Mosul- Day 3- 0130) "What in the name of Creation is happening around here!" Adraa bellowed as she stepped through the doors to the security offices, which were wedged open with emergency door braces. The security offices were mostly dark, with the exception of a few personnel who were using hand torches to set up a mobil generator to power the departments systems. "And where the hell is everyone?" she added irritably. One of the security officers, Ensign Harper. didn't stop what he was doing, but he did at least answer her. "Sir, we have no idea. Communications are down, there's no power anywhere and I think that there are riots on the promenade. We haven't been able to establish contact with anyone. We were here in the office when the power went out. When it didn't come back on, we started trying to hook up this blasted generator. We can't even use the computers." "I think we were attacked." his companion added, "Maybe by the Romulans." Adraa frowned. "That's complete bull, there is most likely another likely explanation. How long until..." There was a flicker of light as the mobile generator kicked it. The security offices lit up, but the computers and the communications were still down. Adraa knew this because her attempts to access the console or to use her commbadge responded only with denial tones. She looked over at the other two officers. "Get yourselves armed, and see if you can round up some of the other members of the department. Start with Alcott and work your way down the chain of command. Our first priority is to get the department assembled so we can figure out what to do next. For those off-duty, they are probably trapped in their quarters like I was. So grab some rescue gear and take it along in case you need it. Tell anyone security officers you see to report here. I'll start working on a response plan." The two junior officers smiled weakly and nodded. They headed for the armory. Adraa let out a huge sigh and then made her way over to the window of her office. Even though it overlooked the promenade, the darkness there was still too thick to truly see the area clearly. There were a few bright spots of light cast from fires. ~God help us all.~ She thought. Several bottles of Roumlan ale were scattered a but his office. Salid's butt chewing was weighing heavily on his mind. His somewhat sluggish mind snapped back to reality as eh lights, systems and god knows what went out. The Command Centre had backup generators but those were supposedly short term fixes. he tried to contact Security but communication were down,=, He sprinted to the Security Office looking for Lt Mosu. Cursing as only an Andorian could Kraal went on "Opening a channel Kraal bellowed "What the H*** is going on Mosu?" (reply:Mosu)i Kraal watched the confusion. He swallowed and said "Check the power generation systems.
