Jacobs replied as he gestured for Tyrone to follow him. The two men moved over to the station power readout display. By this time the Boudicca had repowered the station up to 40% capacity, with the Rosenante contributing another twenty percent. Jacobs pointed out the power flow direction coming from the Boudicca via the umbilicals to the station. It actually made sense since life support had been holding all this time. "We need to get this reactor back to powering the station. Even if the Rosenante follow suite with the Boudicca, we need to get this station's power back up. A level three diagnostic needs to be run while we continue to repairs here in engineering. Full power can't be returned to the station until we know exactly what needs repair, and with a station this size I'm afraid there is a lot of work in store for us. Mr Cooper I need you at the power distribution terminal. I need to know where the power flow is being directed and or diverted. From there we can begin extenuating repairs." Tyrone nodded. "Okay I can do that." he replied with smile, "You prefer me to read them off as I get the results or wait for them to all be available and provide them to you all at once?" (reply Jacobs) "I'm a trained Combat Engineer, not a formal engineer, so I'm not as refined at handling this sort of stuff as you might be. I specialize more in destruction and construction rather than repair work, but I understand the principles." (reply Jacobs) Tyrone nodded again. "You got it." he replied, and then got to work. "Thanks for you assistance I'm going to check in with the Boudicca and see if any other help is on the way." A quick tap to his comm badge and Jacobs opened a channel. While the Engineer spoke to his ship, Tyrone started running the diagnostics and trying to figure out how extensive the damage was. (reply Jacobs) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, Corridor, SO, Mike Rosenbauer & Eva Saint Jean, Day 3, 0318) Lieutenant Trei gave the situation a good glance before responding. "I see them. I will rush the center drawing their attention. You Two take care of my Flanks, Set phasers to mid-stun and use them as needed." Both Mike and Eva acknowledged their orders, although Mike wasn't certain that charging them was the best idea, yet before he could really voice as much, Trei was charging forward, and embedded in the mob. The Klingon was tough. By the time that Mike and Eva had reached the barricade, stunning people that threatened Lieutenant Trei's flanks and rear, he had already dropped a significant number of attackers. The defenders, caught between the proverbial Bull-in-a-china shop, his escorts and the cross fire from Ichijo's team never stood a chance. Within a few short moments, they had either all been stunned or immobilized by the attack. Once the barricade was still, Mike motioned for Ichijo and her group to join then, as Eva cleared a path through the make-shift barricade. (reply: none needed) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - Main Engineering - aCEO Ensign Anton Gesar - 0323) Anton was deep into thought as he was looking over the information on his screen. It was not until Durand was standing next to him that he realized the captain had entered engineering. “Nice work getting things back together so quickly Chief... I appreciate the effort. Make sure the troops know that the ‘old man’ is happy with the department.” "Yes sir, thank you." “Now... what do you make of these creatures? Have you had a chance to look over the data from the Rosenante?” "I have sir and as we speak I have been looking over some data that has me rather concerned. What you see here is the power generated by the Starbase and here is the power we are supplying to the Starbase. This is the power that we are generating here on the ship. We are currently running roughly at 67% as we are not operating any engines or weapons, but are maintaining lighting, computer control and life support. Plus a few other minor functions. A portion of that power is, as I said, helping power similar systems on the Starbase. What concerns me is that the systems we are powering on the ship and what we are helping power on the starbase should not require what we are producing. What's worse is that the requirements are growing. What is necessary to power the ship is stable, however a portion of the power we are supplying the Starbase disappears. Well... not disappears but it seems that the starbase is absorbing power it should not be." Anton paused to let Durand absorb the information and continued when he felt it was appropriate. "So that is when I decided to look over the data from the Rosenante. It suggests that these creatures are not only feeding on the raw materials but also the power we are generating. The data also suggests that they are multiplying. Which would explain the constant increase in the power requirements of the starbase. (Reply Durand) "The ideal situation is if we can find a way to beam them off or remove them from the station. Another possibility is to pick a radius around the affected area and disconnect everything within that radius from the power system or the less desirable removing all power supply and going completely dark on the starbase. Of course we don't know if that will effect the cratures or how they might react to such a drastic loss of nourishment. And of course that will not prevent them from continuing to eat the bulkheads." (Reply Durand) "There is one more possibility. It's possible that there is a specific frequency range that the creatures enjoy consuming. We could try rotating the power frequency on the starbase, if the creatures come accross a frequency they don't like we should see it as a drop in the power being drawn from the starbase. (Reply Durand) (Posted by Oleg Kislyuk) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 – Corridor - CMO, Lt, jg Kimiko Ichijo - Day 3, 0324) The action was relatively quick, it seemed that by the time the barricading group noticed that something was wrong, half of them were down and the last fell within seconds after that. Kimiko had detailed four medical personal and a pair of security to see to the stunned people. “After you see to these individuals, then I would like to check out our bystanders to see if anyone is in need of immediate medical attention and bring them in” At Nurse Simpkins nod, Kimiko turned and headed into sickbay. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 – Main Sickbay - CMO, Lt, jg Kimiko Ichijo - Day 3, 0327) Dr Ichijo stood by the doorway, as she took in the sickbay as her team filed in around her. The lighting was dim, used packaging was strewn about, and half the beds were not even powered. With the odor of bodily fluids and the moans of the injured, It felt like the middle of a war zone. Her eyes lighted upon Caskie. “Ladies and gentleman, please see where an extra pair of hands can be needed. “ Kimiko walked over to Dr Caskie, her eyes taking in every detail of the chaotic sickbay. It was gratifying to see her team spreading out across the room, assisting wherever they could, there were a few more bodies in here then could be accommodated comfortably, but hopefully that would be alleviated by sending out S&R teams. “Dr Caskie, good morning, I hope that I am not late” (Reply Caskie) “I was thinking that with the extra bodies in here, we could give our hosts a few minutes of rest before, sending out teams to find more injured” (Reply Caskie) I anticipated that there would be plenty medkits here that we could appropriate, so forgoing those, I brought three emergency power generators, two portable sterilizing field generators and two mobile recharging stations., sorry I couldn’t bring more. I did notice that you have quite a line outside, I think it might be a good idea to forgo the use of one of the generators.” Kimiko brought up her padd and looked up at Caskie. “There is an auditorium on this level, looks like it seats about 750, if we can get rudimentary power to the lighting system and a replicators or two, then we can get some of the huddled masses out from underfoot.” (Reply Caskie) Kimiko nodded in response and held out her hand “It is good to see you again, Ma'am” (Reply Caskie) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, Corridor, ACMO Basil Candle, Day 3 03:28) "Starfleet medical team!" Basil jumped, he was expecting something, a phaser blast, even a roar of a charge but not that, "I'm Lieutenant Commander McLaren assigned to the Rosenante. I have two security Officers with me. We'd like to join your party." Basil let out a sigh a muttered , “Blessed Lady,” something he hadn’t done for a long time. “Lieutenant Commander McLaren, it is good to see you. Can you give me any update?” (Reply McLaren) Basil had been thinking of alternate options just in case their way was blocked to the sickbay. With the different route that Basil was taking he was more and more thinking of a new tactic. The arrival of security, albeit 3 people, gave Basil a bit more confidence to make a suggestion, “Gather round people quickly I need to throw a suggestion your way.” Basil waited as the group huddled round, the new security were wary, looking to the corridor rather that the group but still listening. “Heading to sickbay may not be the swiftest approach and I am proposing we head elsewhere.” Basil could see the faces of his team switch from shock, bewilderment, stubbornness and anger. Basil quickly interjected before there was any verbal objection “Think it through, if we were in sickbay, we wouldn’t be waiting on more people turning up. Some may, but most will be establishing a larger area to put the injured. It’s what we did on Jahdara III and it’s what they are going to do here.” He let that sink in but followed rapidly, “There are several places this can be done, store rooms, abandoned hanger bays but none that would be easy to get to. There is one though that we can head to ..” With that Basil pointed to the markings on the wall in numerous languages, each one indicated a variety of locations to help people navigate round the starbase. One in particular Basil pointed to, one that led off down another corridor, away from the direction they were heading. The sign said Auditorium. “Well everyone and especially you Lieutenant Commander, as you’re the ranking officer here, what do you think? (Reply Mclaren, any) (Posted by Warren Simkins) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 – Main Sickbay - aFO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 3 - 0329) “Dr Caskie, good morning, I hope that I am not late” Josh turned around to see a sight for sore eyes. All over the sickbay the team that Kimiko had brought with her were spreading out and starting to work. Josh turned to Kimiko. "Let me bring you up to speed. Most of the injuries we have had here are the usual crush ones. We've had one or two odd ones, all of those and all sf personell have been sent to the Rose and Dr Post is caring for them at present." “I was thinking that with the extra bodies in here, we could give our hosts a few minutes of rest before, sending out teams to find more injured” Josh nodded, "Your indeed welcome to try but this is their starbase and most of these people, just like us take it personally. Don't be surprise if most of them refuse. "I anticipated that there would be plenty medkits here that we could appropriate, so forgoing those, I brought three emergency power generators, two portable sterilizing field generators and two mobile recharging stations., sorry I couldn’t bring more. I did notice that you have quite a line outside, I think it might be a good idea to forgo the use of one of the generators.” Kimiko brought up her padd and looked up at Caskie. “There is an auditorium on this level, looks like it seats about 750, if we can get rudimentary power to the lighting system and a replicators or two, then we can get some of the huddled masses out from underfoot.” Josh nodded, "Come with me." She guided Kimiko over to Dr Harvey. "Dr Harvey this is Dr Ichijo. Now ladies I don't give a damn which one of you ends up in charge. but there is a queue outside this door longer than the Titanic. I expect both of you to work together to fix it are you both clear on this? Good. Now I honestly have other things to do at present than medical, so if you will both excuse me. I need to go check on our security. (reply Harvey and Ichijo) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, Corridor, ATT, Lt. Cmdr Matthew McLaren, Day 3, 0333) "Lieutenant Commander McLaren, it is good to see you. Can you give me any update?" The man who seemed to be in charge replied. "I will admit it's good to be seen. Things were a bit dicey there for a few moments." Matthew frowned then, "Not much I can offer you in the way of updates. I noticed that some of the smaller systems on the station seem to have power again, but nothing near enough to power things. We we're unable to return to the ship because of the riots, so when we spotted you, it seemed like a good idea to link up." Matthew explained. "Gather round people quickly I need to throw a suggestion your way." the man replied. "Heading to sickbay may not be the swiftest approach and I am proposing we head elsewhere." That seemed to be an announcement that shocked many of the members of the medical team, since they obviously seemed surprised by the announcement. "Think it through, if we were in sickbay, we wouldn’t be waiting on more people turning up. Some may, but most will be establishing a larger area to put the injured. It’s what we did on Jahdara III and it’s what they are going to do here." He let that sink in but followed rapidly, "There are several places this can be done, store rooms, abandoned hanger bays but none that would be easy to get to. There is one though that we can head to .." With that the man pointed to the markings on the wall in numerous languages, each one indicated a variety of locations to help people navigate round the starbase. The one in particular that he pointed to, one that led off down another corridor, away from the direction they were heading. The sign read simply 'Auditorium'. "Well everyone and especially you Lieutenant Commander, as you’re the ranking officer here, what do you think?" Matthew though about it for a few moments. Then nodded. "It can't hurt. A collection point is a good idea. BUt just so we are clear. I'm no medical officer, so this is your show. You make the decisions where this is concerned and I'll lend a hand as I am able. If you think this is a good idea, then that's what we'll do. You're operation, your command, Ensign." (Reply Candle) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Surgical Bay One, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 3, 0439) =^=Captain, our Doctor Candle has a sort of double specialization as a scientist. If I recall correctly, he may also have some experience that is specifically on-point to our situation. You may have him assist your people, provided he’s not engaged in medical duties that would exclude that. You have my leave to co-opt him as needed.=^= Durand replied to his query. "I think his talents would be much better suited to the treatment of the injured at the moment. Should that change, I'll co-opt him." Ahmed responded. =^=As to the station situation, I do in fact have some information. My chief engineer has informed me that his assistant, Mister Jabobs is active in the stations’ engineering section. They have fifteen engineers there at last report, and they have isolated themselves for the time being from the infestation with forcefields.=^= Durand paused a moment, then went on. =^=If these things ‘feed’ on energy, do you suppose there might be a danger that we hadn’t considered? Beyond the damage to the power grid... what if they were able to draw ‘sustenance’ directly from the forcefields, or the systems feeding them? I doubt with the available energy we have that we can cover and block all possible routes of advance with shields. I think we need to get a more permanent solution to this, and quickly.=^= Ahmed nodded, unmindful of the fact that no one was there to witness it. "Agreed." He said in time with his final nod, "Hopefully our science department here can identify them and give us a means to combat them quickly and efficiently. As soon as we have an answer or options, I'll advise you immediately. If you require anything at all Captain, Please let me know." (reply Durand) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989, Corridor, ACMO Basil Candle, Day 3, 04:41) "It can't hurt. A collection point is a good idea. But just so we are clear. I'm no medical officer, so this is your show. You make the decisions where this is concerned and I'll lend a hand as I am able. If you think this is a good idea, then that's what we'll do. You're operation, your command, Ensign." With that vote of approval the rest of the medical crew seemed to relax somewhat. “Right medical crew line up as we have been, I’ll leave ordering your men, Commander McLaren to you, by the way the names Candle, Dr Candle.” (Reply McClaren iyw) They turned off the route they were heading down a new corridor. Luckily the location to the auditorium was well posted despite the failed lights. Their journey was uneventful no people just signs of their passing. Basil was getting the feeling that most sane people had reached a safe haven and were staying there until whatever crisis passes by or destroys them all. Only the mad or desperate were wandering around at this time and Basil wasn’t sure which ones they were. Eventually they reached a large with dark edged words etched above it declaring it to a balcony of the auditorium. Basil turned to McClaren, “Okay how do you propose we continue on? There should be some stairs leading down to the main auditorium but wondered whether we should have a look there first?” (Reply McClaren) Now they had reached the auditorium Basil decided to try and contact the Boudicca if it was possible. “Dr Candle to Captain Durand. Sir, had a few problems reaching the sickbay, instead I my team and a couple of Rosenante security officers have reached the Starbase’s auditorium to turn it into a makeshift sickbay.” (Reply Durand) (Posted by Warren Simkins) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Sickbay, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 3, 0458) After concluding his discussion with captain durand, Ahmed had made his way to sickbay to take in a first hand account of the situation as it was progressing. Never one to really enjoy being motionless during a crisis, he had welcomed the change of scenery from the bridge to that of sickbay, even if it wasn't the most pleasant of situations. The Rosenante medical staff was working through the casualties quickly, a testament to the extremely skilled administration handled by Doctor Ichijo and before her Doctor Caskie. It was a reassuring thing to realized that the apparent chaos of the situation wasn't nearly as haphazard as it at first seemed. Severe cases were being treated quickly, and once they were stabilized they were being transported to one of the cargo bays for observation and after-care. As quickly as biobeds were becoming available they were being filled. Doctor post for her part seemed to be handling the organization on the Rosenante well enough, while Doctors Ichijo and Ru'at were handling triage on the station; assigning them priority as needed. Ahmed noticed Signos regain consciousness. She spoke with Doctor Post, although Ahmed could not hear what they were saying, but then it became apparent that the Boudicca crewman wanted to speak with Ahmed, so the captain made his way to her bedside. A nod from Doctor post indicated that she felt that Signos could speak without undue strain. "Excuse me sir." She said in a weakened voice. "Yes Ensign," What can i do for you?" "Here." She handed him a data pack "my tactical circlet was attached to this, it should tell you everything which happened to us. I'm sure you would want to know that, and please if you could send a copy of it's contents to Captain Durand?" Ahmed accepted the pack, finding it interesting that Signos was carrying a device that was no longer in general deployment in the fleet. In fact, they had been retired from general issue after the civil war. It made him wonder exactly how long she'd been in service. But that was a question best reserved for another day. "I'll send the data on as soon as I can extract it." He replied. "You should get some rest now." "Thank you, sir." she responded with a slight nod. Before she noticed movement to her right, her eyes quickly became focused on it. Ahmed stepped away from her just as she was becoming aware that O'Neill was in the biobed next to her. He left them some privacy, long enough to make it to the nearest general use terminal and download the data from the data pack. He forwarded it under high priority, denoting it's origin to both Narvak in the science department and to Captain Durand on the Boudicca. Ahmed turned from the console in time to see that O'Neill had indeed awakened, and so he headed over to the man's biobed to let him know that the Captain appreciated his sacrifice for his duty. "Captain, sir...I'm sorry I wasn't able to carry out Lt. Matrix's orders." Ahmed placed his hand on the young man's forearm. "Don't worry yourself about it Mister O'Neill. I have a sneaking suspicion that conditions beyond your control were involved." "What's the sate of the Emergency, sir?" Eian asked. "We've engineering teams on the starbase, along with medical. Matrix has managed to reinforce the Umbilicus so that we are pumping a great deal of power back into the starbase. The Boudicca is doing the same. We're powering maybe 60% of the station between us at the moment. Security is starting anti-riot operations to restore order." Ahmed regarded the engineer laying on the biobed before them. "I have sciences working on identifying the creatures you discovered as well as finding a way for us to handle them." "You've done one hell of a job, Lieutenant, it's time to let someone else carry the load for a while." (reply Signos iyw, O'Neill iyw, Durand iyw) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Sickbay, Doctor Emily Post, Day 3, 0452) Emily had moved over to Signos' biobed in anticipation of her return to the land of the conscious. She was not disappointed. "Where am I?" The woman asked as she started to come around. "Aboard the USS Rosenante, in Sickbay. I'm Doctor Post, your attending physician." Emily replied. "I see thank you." the woman replied and Emily took a good look at her pupils to see if there were any indications of residual toxicological poisoning. Seeing none, she smiled. The younger woman tried to rise, but Emily knew that her body wasn't quite that well recovered. When she returned to her resting state, Emily said simply, "Take it easy Ensign, you're not ready to run any Marathons yet. Give it a few more minutes and you'll be as right as rain, I promise." Whether jessica didn't hear her or she was just distracted by the sight of O'Neill in the biobed next to her, Emily wasn't certain. But what was obvious was that there was some sort of connection between the two injured officers, voiced by the question that Signos posed next. "Will he be alright?" She asked. "He'll be fine. We removed five parasites from him. There's no long lasting physical damage. Once the sedative wears off he should be just fine. It should be much longer." The doctor replied. Jessica spotted the captain next and so Emily gave her some space, going off to attend to other patients until she was needed here further. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - ACEO Lt JG Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 0503) "You've done one hell of a job, Lieutenant," Salid told him. "It's time to let someone else carry the load for a while." Eian frowned, slightly dissatisfied, but nodded his agreement. He wanted to know what had happened, exactly, to him and Jessica. He knew she was hit with some kind of dart, but he didn't know what those bugs had done to him that had made him act so ridiculous in front of Jessica, and then collapse when he got her to Sickbay. That was the last thing he remembered, aside from some pretty strange dreams. "Thank you, Sir," he said. "Do you know what happened? Or maybe the doctor can give me some details?" He glanced over in Dr. Post's direction. (reply Salid or Post) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 3, 0538) Ahmed had moved to the Ready room for a few moments of peace. He was quickly becoming exhausted, and as he felt it wasn't good to allow the crew to see him flagging, he had sequestered himself into the ready room with a series of PADDS detailing the relief work as much as possible. With 90% communications restored, The relief teams were making better progress. Starbase medical was now up and running, powered by mobile generators. The Starbase's auditorium and a portion of the promenade had been set up as aid stations and both the sickbays on the two federation Starships were running at full capacity. Engineering teams were still working hard to restore main power, and thus far the as of yet unidentified aliens had not managed to breach the forcefields, although they showed signs of interest in their energy fields when station power was diverted away from the infestation. The captain placed the PADD on the desk in front of him and closed his eyes for a few moments as he pinched the bridge of his nose between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand. =^=Narvak to Salid=^= The captain released his grip on his nose and tapped his commbadge to reply, "Salid here, go ahead ensign." =^=This thing is a Vexarak Spoiler, probably Plague of Qirorloxx too.=^= "So it's been seen before?" Ahmed asked rhetorically. That meant that there may be a means to combat them already logged. That might be a bit of luck, that they could use, even if luck was long overdue. =^=well, lets see. First sighting on Stardate 1531.15.13 in the Daias sector..=^= "How many sighting in total Ensign. We're on the clock here." Ahmed replied. =^=Oh, fine. Three sightings. First; ship- blown up. Second; Transit hub- blown up and third, Processing facilities- Blown up and sunk into the sun. I am kind of curious how they managed that though. Oh, and the Plague was just a lot of hand wringing as they watched their space station disappear. Set back their space program back at least five hundred years. Idiots.=^= There was a short pause and Ahmed just shook his head in disbelief. He was about to speak when the science officer continued with, =^= I guess we are trying to save the Starbase.=^= "That would be preferable, considering that we do not have the ability to evacuate all the people on them and abandon the structure to these creatures. Have you managed to find a way to stop them?" Ahmed asked a bit acerbically. Narvak sighed loudly enough for the sound to be picked up by the commbadge. =^=I managed to injure it with a plasma torch at about 5900 kv and a modified baryon emitter made it hibernate. Of course, dropping it into the sun may be less destructive then a baryon stream. Maybe, if I tweek it a bit, we could arrest their progress, without melting the people on the Starbase.=^= What about trapping them so that they could be contained in some manner. Is there something that could be used as a form of bait perhaps?" Ahmed asked, ignoring the irritating temperament of the Tellarite officer for the moment. He could address the issue with him later. =^=Yes, the little buggers really like Osimium seasoned with Iridium, I think that they just use living creatures as a form of locomotion, so they should jump on the first piece of candy that they come across. But, short of sticking it on my arm and waiving a chuck of rock in front of its nose; there is not much of a way to test it.=^= "Then find us something else. We need a solution to this problem sooner rather than later mister Narvak." Ahmed commanded. =^=Ok, I’ll look into it and get back to you. Narvak out=^= (reply Narvak iyw, but none needed) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Science bay - SciO, Ens,jg Narvak - Day 3, 1605) Narvak looked at the molecular image of the creature. It was a fascinating piece of architecture and he would not be surprised if this was a bioweapon, the science officer would be hard pressed to explain how something like this had evolved. That was key, this creature processes both raw energy and matter, the plague doesn’t create its own flesh, it just assembles it from the matter that it scavenges. The screen zoomed out and highlighted the digestive system. From what the Tellorite understood, a vast amount of the energy and matter that the creature consumed was converted to heat and alpha radiation, probably 10 percent of the substances were actualized. ~another argument for a weapon~ Narvak considered ~no creature this inefficient would survive this long~ The view shifted to the two tiny organs that were responsible for converting the material consumed, there was a microscopic seed of a radioactive material, that was denser then plutonium. ~Interesting, very complex~ Narvak thought ~a bar of Wilson’s particles should gum up the works enough to render the creature inert, and it would be easy to shift the flow pattern to the station to incorporate the excess energy, it will blow busses and fuses like popcorn but is better than the Starbase eaten out from under their feet~ Navak set up a reinforced iso-tank, just in case things got messy, three sims predicted an explosive release of only 4.3 kJ of energy. That was enough to do medium damage to local area of electronics, but not to the superstructure. The explosion should easily be contained within the blast box. He carefully brought the creature over to the box, connected the feed wire to the cage and sealed the box. He sat at a console and changed the view of the creature’s vitals, sensor data to measure the aftermath and a visual of the creature. The creature sat, seeming to take in its new environment. Narvak stared at it for a full minute while finishing off his Turkish coffee. ~If it wasn’t so blasted annoying, then it was be beautiful; as it was it was kind of interesting~ The science officer thought. “Don’t worry” Narvak said “It will be quick” And pressed the activate button. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Corridor - SciO, Ens,jg Narvak - Day 3, 1607) With his ears ringing and his head pounding, Narvak opened his eye, the room that he had been in was smoking. The gray smoke warred with white fog of fire suppressant, he squinted his eyes, he could barely see the remains of the table and nothing of the box. A small portion of his mind noted that door’s resistance was not as high as the specs stated. ~I should ask for my money back~ He turned his head to the sound of feet pounding down the hall, Lieutenant Vor was running towards him with two security officers in tow. This is the first time that he had seen the Vulcan less them composed. “Good news” Narvak stated weakly “I killed it” (Reply None) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Boudicca - Main Engineering - aCEO Anton Gesar - 0847) Anton was in Engineering continuing to monitor the situation. =/\= Durand to Gesar. Of course, I accept your verification of his identity as accurate... as well as that of his vessel. I trust you won’t mind if we scan that cargo before it comes aboard though, right?” Josh simply smiled and nodded. "Of course Sir." She settled back into her chair all the while trying to figure out why this Captain simply did not trust her. Was it her or was it simply because she had been thrust on him by Starfleet. She was still worrying about this when he spoke to her. “Josh, what can you tell me about this man? He looks a little old for a lieutenant... but of course looks are often deceiving.” Thinking about it for a while Josh grinned. "To be honest sir most of what I can tell you about the Lieutenant is here say. A lot of it is all fog and mirrors however I have before, and will continue to trust him with my life and if there was one person I would want behind me in a tricky situation it would be him." He brought himself stiffly to attention, even going so far as to click his heels together. Durand held his gaze a moment, then after a moment, his face broke into a smile and he stood and extended his hand in greeting toward Raschen. “At ease Lieutenant, welcome aboard. I’m Captain Durand... I believe you know my First Officer, Commander Caskie?” Josh was smiling like the Cheshire Cat at some private joke when she turned to face Raschen. Chance smiled in her direction as well saying "Pleased to meet you Captain. Commander, good to see you again." as he nodded in her direction as he shook Durand's hand. Raschen noticed the glance the captain made of the patch on the ex-privateer's arm. ~With that look in your eye Durand, you must be asking yourself some serious questions.~ Chance thought, but instead said "I was a privateer in the Irregular Federation Forces during the Fed-Car War." as he turned so Durand could have a better look at the patch. "Sir, Ma'am" he started as he nodded to Durand and Caskie accordingly, "With the armed escort still standing by, and the looks of some of your bridge crew here, I'm guessing I wasn't brought up here for completely social reasons, and that you probably have some questions for me. If I am wrong and this is all social, I can have my first mate bring up a bottle of my mom's homemade Scotch Whiskey." (Reply Durand, Caskie, room for more) "By all means sir." He had managed, once again to sneak up behind her, although it wasn't nearly as intentional as it had been at the County Cork. He had slipped in beside her, and wrapped an arm around her waist briefly as he whispered, "Hello sexy." For his effort, he received a wink and a hush gesture. this of course just made him smile. When the ceremony was finally finished, Mike followed her up to congratulate the happy couple. He also congratulated them before heading for the buffet at RJs. Once they had loaded up their plates with what appeared to be exquisite fare, Mike followed Josh to a chair and happily settled into it in anticipation of a good meal and some stimulating conversation. The corner was quiet and so Mike had no difficulty hearing Josh when she spoke. "I'm fairly sure that nothing is going to disrupt anything tonight I hope are you free?" Mike smiled, "Hmmm... let me think?" He teased her, before responding, "I've cleared by busy calendar just for you. How about I bring some wine and we can make a romantic evening of it?" (reply Caskie) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - RJ's - ATAC/SC Ensign(jg) Jessica Signos - Day 8 - 1426) She hated having to be in her dress uniform. She might of been able to pull off looking good in it, but that doesn't mean she had to like it. One of the advantages of her body not aging was the fact that it did not change a great deal from how she was when she first entered starfleet. She preferred to be in one of her dresses, atleast then she could feel comfortable, lets face it Jessica had always preferred a cool dress to the stuffiness of a uniform any day. It had been nearly a week since the the two of them had meet, and since then only duty to there ships was the only thing that kept them apart. They were always always something to talk about, and there were time when they just strolled silently around the station and both the Boudicca and the Rose, arm in arm, hand in hand. "You know, you look beautiful in a dress uniform," he said in between bites, as if it was a fact about the weather. "Not many people can pull that off," he continued. "People just don't wear them often enough to get the right size, so they usually look stuffed into the damn thing or like they shrunk two sizes," he joked. "And as far as any attempts to look beautiful, people usually consider it an accomplishment when they manage not to look constipated." He paused as she laughed. "But you know, you look absolutely spectacular." She looked at time giving him the 'You've been hit over the head one to many times look.' "Thank you, even though I don't feel it." Jessica replied. When in fact if anyone could look good in that torture garb, Jessica could her light complexion and dark hair complemented the uniform well. He chuckled and then reached across the table, wiping some sauce from the corner of her mouth. Then smiled at her, and for the moment, they were the only two people in the restaurant, and that was what mattered. His hand lingered on his face, causing a loose strain to fall over her face. She looked over at the bride and groom. " Do you ever wonder, what our future might hold?" She asked Eian a far off look in her eyes. (reply Eian) (posted by Matthew Locke) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Starbase 989 - RJ's - ATAC/SC Ensign(jg) Jessica Signos - Day 8 - 1439) She listened to Eian has he talked. It was clear that he was deeply religious. Jessica listened intently learning all she could from this conversation and the words used to convey his thoughts. "But I came to realize that for me, the truth is that He loves me and will guide me through anything that comes my way." He continued, pausing a bit after to collect his thoughts. "I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, both of my parents also passed away...." She paused in memory of her parents. "Nine years ago." Eian continued, changing the subject back to one of a more happier tone, and Jessica smiled for that. He was getting better at reading her, understanding the little things about her that normally are lost on everyone else. Until his the conversation finally came down to Eian saying. "We've known each other for a week, Jessica, and I know that isn't much time. But...I think I'd like it if we found a way to make this companionship last." ~Breath~ the thought flashed though her mind, and she took a deep breath to compose herself. Has he moved to the seat next to her. "Eian..." She spoke slowly. "This last week has been like a dream, one that I hope I would never have to wake from. You have given me hope and a reason to believe that I might find a future ahead of me that I have not dared to believe in for some time now." She stopped for a moment to take a breath, and collect her thoughts. "But I don't want this to only be an companionship," She continued taking his hand in hers. "I want this to be more than that. I want this to be.... all my dreams have made it to be." She watched the expression, looking deeply in his eyes. (reply Eian) "But again that's the problems with dreams at some point they always end." She continued. "In due time are ships are gonna leave this place and we will get separated. I dread that day," She finished saying pulling his hand to her lap, and resting her head on his shoulder. "I dont wish to speak of such things now, right now I want to be right here." (reply Eain.) She moved slightly moving her lips close to his ear, and in the softest of whispers she spoke into his ear. " I love you." Jessica said, and then paused. "Nine years ago." Eian nodded sympathetically, and decided to change the subject. This wasn't the time, he thought. At some later time, he hoped, they would go down this path but at the moment, he realized that Jessica not only didn't want to talk about her parents, but that it would get her in the wrong mood for the other things he wanted to say. Finally, he said it. "We've known each other for a week, Jessica, and I know that isn't much time. But...I think I'd like it if we found a way to make this companionship last." When he got his bearings and realized that she was formulating a reply, he moved to the seat next to her so they could be closer. He analyzed her every microexpression. He had never been so attentive. The twitch of a cheek, the slight raise of an eyebrow, the extension of her lips into a micro-smile, the shift of her elbow inward...he got every detail, and tried to analyze it to the point where he almost missed what she was saying. "Eian..." She spoke slowly. "This last week has been like a dream, one that I hope I would never have to wake from. You have given me hope and a reason to believe that I might find a future ahead of me that I have not dared to believe in for some time now." She stopped for a moment to take a breath, and Eian seemed to hold his in. "But I don't want this to only be an companionship," She continued taking his hand in hers. The tiny hairs on Eian's back stood up, and he looked into her eyes. "I want this to be more than that. I want this to be.... all my dreams have made it to be." She watched the expression, looking deeply in his eyes as well. He couldn't speak for a moment, the words caught in his throat. "Me too," he finally managed. "But again that's the problems with dreams at some point they always end." She continued. He could see the disappointment in her eyes. He could see the heartbreak on her face. It made his own heart break--he couldn't accept that it was going to end. "In due time are ships are gonna leave this place and we will get separated. I dread that day," She finished saying pulling his hand to her lap, and resting her head on his shoulder. "I dont wish to speak of such things now, right now I want to be right here." Eian nodded, and brought his other hand up to her head, to stroke her hair. He was trying to think of what to say, but for some reason, his mind was racing too fast. She moved slightly moving her lips close to his ear, and whispered, " I love you." He nearly shivered with the chills that ran up his spine, the butterflies in his stomach doing laps, his racing thoughts running into each other. Finally, he managed to calm himself down and think critically. He had never been so comfortable with anyone in his entire life, aside from his parents, and when she brought up the subject of separating, it seemed all his training and coaching went out the window. He realized he had been thinking of his future in terms of her. He didn't know how long he had been doing it, but it was definitely done. ~I can't let her leave. I can't just let that happen...God has a plan...and this has to be it! He wants me to be happy, He wants *her* to be happy. I can't give that up...~ "Jessica," he said quietly, and she looked at him. "I love you too...and I want to get up every morning and see you right there. I don't want to talk to a screen, I want to talk to *you*. So..." he squeezed her hand. "We're gonna figure this out. Okay? We're not gonna be apart." "No matter what happens, we'll find a way." She continued for him completing his thought. ~ Is this what its like mother to fall in love. I thought I knew all the answers about it, knew what to look for. But now every thing is contradicted. I am happy to be with him and sad at the thought of losing him. Is this what you meant all those years ago.~ "We'll talk to our captains. We'll send in requests to Starfleet HQ. We'll see what comes back. We'll make this work." Eian continued. Has Jessica noticed Mike and Josh enter the RJ's. She continued to keep them in eye sight has they found a quite corner. They seemed a pair in a similar situation has Jessica and Eian. That thought cause Jessica's mind to start developing a plan of action. ~Two people requesting a change is a serious request how much more so would if be if it was four.~ "Maybe there might be another option that would lend strength to our cause and help another couple out." She spoke quietly, the plan still forming in her mind. But the thought of it made her smile. We'll send in requests to Starfleet HQ. We'll see what comes back. We'll make this work." Eian continued. He followed Jessica's gaze to see that she was looking at Caskie and Rosenbauer, who had just walked in. Then she said, "Maybe there might be another option that would lend strength to our cause and help another couple out." Eian had a strategic mind--he thought of everything as a puzzle to be solved, and he had three initial thoughts as to what Jessica's plan could be. The first made the most sense to him. "You think they might want to do an officer exchange with us." The second thought came to him almost immediately afterward. "But neither I nor Caskie could leave our post because of our respective ships' crew compliments. So...Jessica, would you be willing to leave the Boudicca?" He realized this was all theoretical. He knew nothing about Rosenbauer and Caskie's relationship, whether it was serious enough for Rosenbauer to want to transfer. He had no idea if Starfleet would even approve it. It was really a shot in the dark, and it depended heavily on the needs of both ships. He realized the captains would have needs that neither he nor Jessica could take into account in their little plan, because they had no idea what the needs were. But it seemed like a logical enough exchange to him, at least in a preliminary analysis. Tom looked at his bride and she glowed. T.J. had never felt so much love and for the millionth time since he had signed the marriage contract with Pez, he thanked the Supreme being of the Universe for giving him so much when he had done so little. As a part of the festivities, he was supposed to dance the first dance with his new wife. Tom had thought about this very carefully. He had chosen a piece written by his favorite old Earth performer Elvis Presley.Tom rose and extended his hand to his wife and led her to the dance floor. Soon the strings of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love With you" filled the facility. By nature not well coordinated social grace wise, actually glided gracefully across the floor. Tom out did himself and he and Dahlia glided across the floor oblivious to everyone but the two of them. They received a round if applause and Tom reddened considerably. Dahlia and the others laughed at his discovery. Tom spoke to the assembly "According to old earth traditional, my mom and I dance and Pez and Dahlia dance". Tom took his mom's hand and watched as Pez. He took the hand if his former assistant now daughter in law. Mom was thrilled and crying with happiness. The dance concluded. The facility host took over and asked any that wanted to dance to dance and music started. Tom and Dahlia returned to the head table and sat next to their friends. Ahmed was next to Tom and Steve Matrix. His friend and commander was happy. the two went back to the academy. Dahlia nudged Tom to gain is attention. She leaned in and whispered in his ear indicating what she wanted. Tom grinned and nodded enthusiastically. Gaining Ahmed's attention he addressed his oldest friend "Sir, my wife has requested that she and you dance the next dance".
