Steven Matrix - Day 7- 0308) Matrix and some of the engineering teams had been working for hours in an attempt to resolve the weapons deployment bug that surfaced during repairs. Matrix, Ensign West and some of the key technical teams were troubleshooting the activation malfunction. "I think its pretty obvious that the problem is the power regulator feeding the guidance relay to the phaser input conduit, do you agree Ensign?" asked Matrix. "I do sir, during our last phaser test the power systems showed an increase in both heat and power distribution wasn't within standard norms. The power regulator is overheating and causing the system to shutdown prematurely." replied Ensign West. "Right and if you look at these power readings, phaser efficiency drops over 92 percent on the dorsal array...the junction at G134 simply shorted out, but not enough to completely kill the circuit. The power generated by the dorsal array wouldn't be more than a throwing a rock at another ship." noted Matrix. "Where is all the energy going then Lieutenant? Its not be distributed out the phaser bank and we're not seeing any excessive heat signatures within the ship...or at least the sensors haven't alerted us to any." replied West. "That's what worries me Ensign...that energy has to have gone somewhere." Matrix picked up a tricorder and scanned the conduit panels in that section while Ensign West continued to monitor the diagnostic display on the phaser control network in the aft station. "Matrix to bridge. We need to run another series of phaser tests on the dorsal phaser array. I would like another series of phaser bursts at 50%, 80% and 100% at a null target." (Reply anyone on the bridge) "Excellent, give us a few minutes here to setup the diagnostic scans and signal when you're ready with the targeting sequence. Matrix out." "Crewman Brass, please get back up to main engineering and get me a new power coupler for the PES phase coil...you might also replicate a new power conduit just in case. Everyone else, thank you for your help...its been a long day so call it a day. I think the Ensign and I can handle it from here. Go get some rest. "Aye sir, I'll get back here with those as soon as possible." replied Brass. Crewman Brass and the rest of the engineering teams left phaser control. The bridge signaled they had a null target selected and were ready for another round of phaser testing. "Excellent...ready Ensign?" asked Matrix. "Aye sir, phaser coils are charging...all systems nominal." replied West. Phaser control confirmed that the first percentage test was well within operational norms. The 80% of max power confirmed the PES power coupler was indeed the problem. "Matrix to Bridge, hold off on that max power test until I reply. We need to swap out the PES coupler." said Matrix. (Reply anyone on the bridge) At that time crewman Brass returned to phaser control and delivered the new power coupler and auxiliary power conduit. "Thank you mister Brass....call it a night...I'll tag third shift if we need anything else...thanks for your help, nice work." said Matrix. "Thank you sir, I appreciate the input." replied Crewman Brass. ~Nice kid...I need to put him in for a step promotion.~ Matrix turned back to the panel G134 they had been inspecting. "Okay Ensign, I think we can pull this conduit out and put in the new one." said Matrix. "Sir don't open that panel!" yelled Ensign West. A brilliant flash of light followed by a storm of sparks and pieces of equipment rained down on the two men. Ensign West immediately turned away from the panel, trying to protect himself from the eruption of energy coming out of the panel. The main power feeds into phaser control was shorted out causing the lighting and environmental controls to fail. The emergency lighting system flickered on while an audible alarm filled the deck area. The smoke caused by the explosion made it difficult to ascertain damage, nor what injuries Lieutenant Matrix had sustained. "LEUTENIANT!, LEUTENIANT! Are you hurt!?...LEUTENIANT MATRIX!" yelled Ensign Brass. Ensign West tapped his commbadge, "Medical emergency to phaser control!" said Ensign West. "We've had a power conduit explode in front of Lieutenant Matrix. I don't know his condition! He's unconscious and bleeding." (Reply sickbay) (Reply Bridge, any, none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Bridge - Lt. Trevor Wallace - Day 7-0310) Lt. Wallace had bridge duty on gamma shift as always but this wasn't just 'another' day. The Furious was being towed by the Rosenante which just a few days ago had been an enemy but was now another friendly starfleet vessel and they were chasing a 'different' Rosenante which appeared to be from an alternate reality. Enough to make your head swim if you hadn't been exposed to the strange reality of space in the twenty fifth century. Everything was relatively quiet now and the systems were operating smoothly, everything except offensive and defensive weapons, warp drive and all the power hungry systems that didn't operate on auxiliary power. He was signing off on the hourly report brought to him by Yeoman Kranitz when a call came through. =^= Matrix to bridge. We need to run another series of phaser tests on the dorsal phaser array. I would like another series of phaser bursts at 50%, 80% and 100% at a null target." He tapped his combadge in reply. "I read you Chief, we'll be ready for the tests when you are." ^- Excellent, give us a few minutes here to setup the diagnostic scans and signal when you're ready with the targeting sequence. Matrix out.=^= Firing the phasers in the warp conduit would present no danger, tapping his combadge again he turned to Ensign Elk. "Tactical prepare firing coordinates for full aft at thirty degrees declination, operations inform the Rosenante that we will be test firing our phasers in five minutes please. Targeting will be to the stern at thirty degrees declination for their protection." "Yes sir." The Andorian was talking to the Rosenate when the Caiitian purred from tactical. "Tarrrgeting sequence completed, rrready to firrre on your orderrr." "Mr. Shek?" "Rosenate has confirmed the phaser test, all systems go." Mr. Elk charge phaser banks and bring weapons on-line." Trevor tapped his combadge. "Engineering we're ready to initiate firing sequence "Phaserrrs charrrging, fifty perrrcent burst rrready." "Fire." The phased energy beam lanced from the rear lower strip of the lower engineering decks and stabbed into the ether , fizzling out as it reached the boundary of the Spiral warp conduit. Watching the tactical readouts carefully the cat-like humanoid reported. "Fifty perrrcent burrrst test within operrrational norrrms." "Good. Charge phaser bank to eighty percent." "Rrreadying eighty perrrcent burrrst." S/he purred. "Phaserrrs charrrged, awaiting your orderrr." This time the results weren't so good. The burst was sustained for less than a second and fizzled out well short of the target. ""Powerrr interrruption, test failurrre." =^= Matrix to Bridge, hold off on that max power test until I reply. We need to swap out the EPS coupler.=^= "Roger that Chief." He replied "Stand by tactical." Several minutes went by before the Caitian wailed. "Overrrload in phaserrr contrrrolll." Trevor hit his combadge. "Chief Matrix what happened? Chief Matrix answer!" The bridge lights dimmed. "Environmental controls down!" Shek shouted. "Emergency call going out to medical." Trevor hit his combadge in reflex. "Medical to phaser control now!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Deck 3, personal quarters -CMO, Dr. Lloyd Stanton - Day 7-0315) Lloyd was fully asleep when his monitor activated with a shrill note, it was set to do so in case of an emergency call. Normal requests for sickbay weren't his concern since the staff on duty were more than able to handle them, medical emergencies though sometimes happened and required a higher set of skills. In case of such an event he wanted to be notified immediately, this bypassed being called in late without knowing what the heck was happening. =^- Medical emergency to phaser control!=^= The voice was strained and possibly terrified, he could tell that even though he was groggy, if he had any questions though they were quickly answered. =^= Medical to phaser control now!=^= That was he voice of the watch commander. Lloyd jumped from the bed and ran to his closet where he grabbed a uniform undershirt and slipped it on followed by a smock and tied it around himself then slipped on a pair of soft soled shoes, no time for niceties and to hell with uniform codes. He was out the door within sixty seconds. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious- Phaser control - CMO, Dr. Lloyd Stanton- Day 7 - 0319) Phaser control was a scene of controlled chaos with the acrid sting of smoke in the air from fried circuitry, his eyes immediately started stinging. A medical team and anti-grav unit had already arrived as he burst on the scene. Several engineering officers were hovering around in the way trying to be helpful. "Get them back!" He shouted. "What happened here?" It was one of the officers that stepped forward and answered him. "Chief Matrix was standing near a panel when it blew, the EPS conduit was faulty and the stored energy arced, it brought down the conduit from the roof as well." "What?" He was trying to talk to a nurse when the man interrupted him again. "We pulled it off but didn't move him." "Good, good." Lloyd's head was bobbing in agreement. "Good move. Any broken bones?" This time a medic got a word in edgewise. "None sir but he has a number of contusions and a deep gash three inches long on his right forearm, we have the bleeding stopped. He also has flash burns on his face, neck and hands from the arc." "How bad?" "Second degree." "Damn!" Get him to medical now and put him in a bio-regenerative solution tank after I'm through with him." He slapped the combadge he had snagged from his desk on the way out the door. "This is Stanton, medical have a bio bed and steri-field ready when I get to sickbay along with a dermal regenerator, a round of anti-inflammatory, antibiotics and 10 cc's of Anetrizine. Get a tank filled with bio-regenerative solution ready for afterward. Copy?" =^= Yes doctor.=^= "All right people let's move!" His voice lashed the medics as they loaded the prostrate engineering chief on the unit and propelled him out the door with Lloyd nipping at their heels. (Reply: Matrix iyw) NRPG: Anetrizine is a very powerful sedative, it will have him out for at least several hours and block the pain from the burns while they heal in the bio-regenerative tank. (Posted by Charles ===================================================================== (USS Rosenante - Main Engineering - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 11 - 1200) Mitena tried to quickly prioritize and assign out the Damage control teams to the decks where they were most needed. Unfortunately, there were more spots popping up that needed attention then she had people to spare. The last thing she needed was multiple plasma conduits rupturing. Not one or two mind you, but a whole bank that ran from Deck 10 all the way up to Deck 8. She ran her left hand over her head and down to her neck as her right hand updated orders to the teams. ~Team 1 to Deck 3, Section 17. Team 3 to Deck 8 - plasma conduit rupture, splits to Deck 10.~ She thought as she typed the quick orders in and transmitted them to the teams. =/\=Morrow to Rixx, I've got a primary power relay on Deck 19, section 82A that is burning its way through the deck, can you get someone down there to shut it down? It's not responding to controls.=/\= "I've got all the damage control teams out, Sir. I'll head down there myself. It'll be taken care of as quickly as possible." She replied. She snapped up one of the engineering kits and a fire suppression tank before heading out to take care of the power relay before it took some other systems down with it. =/\=Thank you Ensign. Morrow out.=/\= --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 11 -1203) "I'm glad to finally be able do something more than just sit here and watch, Sir." Nayati replied. Ahmed turned to regard him and gave him a nod, before replying, "well, here's your chance." "It sounds like you need a strong body, as well as strong heart, Captain. Might I also suggest that Ensign V'Shera meet me there. She has a sharp, agile mind, she's far stronger than many Rose board Vulcans, male or female. Her current duty station is in close proximity to Engineering. She could be a definite asset there now." The counselor added. It only took Ahmed a moment to consider it. "Alright, but I need you down there now." "Thank you, Sir." Jon replied, then turned and hurriedly exited the bridge. The Battle was still raging all around them and Ahmed turned his attentions back to the conflict. (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 11 -1244) Jackson had shifted to the CONN station and then he and Raschen had left the bridge to assume the auxiliary bridge in an attempt to goad the alternate Salid into a foolish act of pride. Josh must have retrieved the Bridge first aid kit as he was getting reoriented. He took a step forward, putting his hand on the back of the navigational station's chair, which was vacant. His shoulder ached unlike anything he had experienced in a very long time and Ahmed knew that something was broken. There was a high pitched hiss as an air hypo was pressed against his neck by his First Officer and the pain began to ebb away. A moment later the sound of the transporter sounded and a medical team was arriving. Smith assumed the Operations station even as Ahmed ordered Caskie to take the helm. "Commander take the helm." (reply Caskie) She slid in behind the console, recently vacated by Jackson. "Bring us around on a slow portside arc. I want them to think we're having difficulty with helm control." he ordered A look around the bridge told him that things were going badly. Only a handful of operational consoles remained; debris was scattered across area and almost all of his bridge crew were either injured or dead and dying. A few moments later doctor Lopez was running a scanner over him and saying, "captain you should go to sickbay so that I can fix that bone right, but when you have the time because I can see that you are busy." It was a simple statement, but one that was unassuming. It said, you need treatment, but I understand that you are not able to go right now. It was a small bit of concession that Ahmed was incredibly thankful for at the moment. "Thank you doctor, "I promise I'll report as soon as I am able." he replied. (reply Lopez) Ahmed leaned forward, fighting the throbbing pain in his shoulder as he pulled up commander Caskie's command console prefixes. He then added his own as well as the fleet prefixes that had been sent up from the auxiliary bridge. Ever since Kirk had disabled the Reliant in the Battle of the Mutara nebula, Starfleet had modified the usability of the command console codes by splitting them into three parts. The fleet override code, the first officer's prefix and the commanding officer's prefix. It was only these three together that allowed a complete override of another federation starship. Of course Ahmed realized that he was taking a big risk. There was no guarantee that the console codes would be the same for the mirror universe vessel that they were for his own Rosenante, yet it was his best hope for resolution. If he could gain access, he could stop that ship where it was and neutralize it. He could not hope to out fight it. The mirror Universe ship's crew were too battle hardened and too ruthless to handle. Coupled with the fact that the Mirror universe vessel was heavier armed and defended than his own ship, the odds were steeply stacked against him. It was this or nothing. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - COPS - Lt tom Jackson- Day 11 -1206) Tom Jackson sprang into action at the Captain;s call to join the boarding party assembling in Transporter Room 1. He quickly signaled to a PO 3 to assume his duties As the entered the turbo lift he thought to himself ~ Maybe I'll get to see the 'other' me~. He wondered what that would be like, whether they'd have time to talk any. (USS Rosenenate Deck Transport Room 1- 1206) Tom entered. Several member shad arrived and were awaiting the First Officer's briefing. He went over his weapons and began to plan what he might need to do. He ran a diagnostic on his tri-corder. Not knowing what exactly to expect, he had brought along field first aid gear as a precaution. (reply any present) (Posted by: Bill --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Roseante – Bridge – 30/CCOUNS Lt. (jg) Jon Nayati -1208) “. . . . Might I also suggest that Ensign V'Shera meet me there. She has a sharp, agile mind, she's far stronger than many Rose board Vulcans, male or female. "Alright, but I need you down there now." "Thank you, Sir." Jon replied, then turned and hurriedly exited the bridge. Even as the bridge doors opened Jon tapped his comm-badge. “Mister V’Shera, 30 Nayati here. Grab a rad-suit and rendezvous with me and Mr. Morrow in Main Engineering, ASAP.” (Reply V’Shera) (Posted by Jim McCrary --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Roseante – Deck 7 – ATAC/SEC Ensign (jg) V’Shera – 1209.5) V’Shera was with a ten man security party stationed to repel enemy boarders, should the Rose’s increasingly depleted shields finally fail. Even deep inside the ship’s hull the sounds of phaser and torpedo fire were fearsome. At times, the Rose shuddered violently when enemy phaser fire or torpedoes managed to partially impact on the huge star ship’s metallic hull. ~ Judging from the increasing amount of impact my combat helm is registering the battle doesn’t seem to be going too for us right now, Venerable Surak.~ .As that illogically depressing thought passed through V’Shera’s mind, she pressed her heavy duty phaser rifle tighter battle armored torso. She willed her mind to quiet and her rapid breathing to slow. ~There was no point in wasting needless physical and mental energy before it was needed. My duty now is to prtect this piece Rose form enemy incursion.~ Just as V’Shera had achieved an acceptable level of holistic quiescence, her Inner ear piece picked a high priority comm-badge chirp. The instant V’Shera heard that high priority chirp she opened an immediate com-link to the duty officer in charge of her detail, Lt. Joan Mullins. ~Whatever was coming down from on high, Lt. Mullins would need to know about it,~ V’Shera thought =^=Mister V’Shera, 30 Nayati here. Grab a rad-suit and rendezvous with me and Mr. Morrow in Main Engineering, ASAP.=^= For a second V’Shera thought about protesting the 30’s strident orders. ~After all, I already have assigned duties here~ But the urgent intensity in the Necron Red officer’s voice, combined with words main engineering, overcame all residence on V’Shera’s part. Lt. Mullins chirped in a non-verbal release of V’Shera from her current security duties. Cuing up the comm-channel in her combat helmet, V’Shera replied instantly. Lt. Mullins chirped in a non-verbal release of V’Shera from current security duties. “Heading your way now,30 Nayati. My ETA there will be 3.7 minutes. Kimiko looked at the padd while hustling to main engineering. A sullen red outline appeared around a large bus. It blinked as if waiting for conformation, the blinking stuttered a second and a crimson block appeared at area that was designated as shield generator four. ~A useful thing this,~ Kimiko thought to herself. She took note of the closest team to the affected area. The Greek symbols seemed to be spread out all over the place without any sort of plan. "Team lambda, I need you to double back towards generator four, to assist with unknown but significant injuries, I'll have epsilon pickup your leftovers." Kimiko looked at the lighter shades designated on the queue "It looks like they are about to enter bumps and bruises territory now." =^=Wilco=^= was the short reply that she received ~Oh yes, this would work very well indeed~ Kimiko thought and realized that the desire to micromanage would be very difficult to avoid. The team arrived a main engineering, the tricorder didn’t indicate dangerous levels of radiation yet, but the blast door on the left demonstrated that it was a real possibility. “Okay everyone, you know your jobs, however there is enough residual radiation to warrant 5ccs of Hyronalin per kilo to everyone in this compartment. For Tellerites and Bolians, .5ccs per kilo of Arithrazine, right then, off you go.” Kimiko made a shooing motion and turned away. The doctor moved over to a woman who was leaning against a wall. She had nasty burn that covered her left arm, from shoulder to her mid-forearm; there were burns to her torso as well as her left leg. The ensign sprayed a protective gel over the affected areas and checked her tricorder, ~The women was still in distress, the gel should have numbed and leveled her out a bit, the burn are bad but not that bad.~ Kimiko thought and adjusted the device. ~well, there is the culprit~ Kimiko saw a sliver of metal that had barely missed her spine but managed to halfway slice though her aorta and cauterize the injury at the same time. ~And, of course, still attached to the wall. Well that’s not good~ Kimiko once again showed her mastery for the understatement. She looked around. “Crewman, a moment, please” The aforementioned crewman, who was staring intently at a console, turned to her. “Huh, what….sir” The man looked preoccupied “What lies beyond that wall?” Kimiko pointed “Bulkhead” The harried crewman corrected “Umm secondary control runs for CIS module and the bus for grid 13b” He shook his head and looked back at his console. “Oh.” Kimiko thought for a moment “Is it important?” That got his attention. “Is it important!?!?” he strangled out A little put out; Kimiko replied “Okay I will take that as a yes. Fine how thick is the ‘bulkhead’, before you get to the control buses or whatever?” The crewman thought for a moment “about six centimeters” “Kay” Kimiko replied “Ichijo to Transporter one” (Replay whoever) “Would the transporter have the ability to remove a specific section of” Kimiko looks at the crewman “bulkhead as well as a patient?” (Replay whoever) “Oh, sorry not enough time for that, thank you anyway, Ichijo out” The doctor checks out the wounded women, her vitals were becoming weaker. She looked back up at the crewman. “Look I don’t have a lot of time, I suggest that a way can be found to remove the section of wall, or I can go over to that nice security officer and borrow his phaser.” “You can’t do that “ “Try me” “Ok fine just a moment.” The crewman hurried off and came back with a another and some tools and quickly got to work. A minute later, one of the few remaining bulkheads that had not damaged, now contained a gaping hole. Kimiko ignored the glares and cradled the injured officer. “Ichijo to Transporter one” (Reply whoever) “Site to site, two for surgical suite C” Kimiko replied and felt the familiar queasy feeling of being disembodied. (Reply whoever, anyone IYW) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - Transporter Chief - Ensign Josh Dawson -Day 11-1211) There were times that Dawson really hated being a transporter technician. Times like now, when the entire ship was shaking as if it were a box of rocks in the hands of some mischievous child. Josh stood, holding on for dear life, as the ship shook, bucked and otherwise tried to confound his hard-earned ability to walk upright. He had no idea how many torpedoes, phaser blasts or other unidentified ordinances were pounding on the hull of his beloved Rosenante, but he did know that the frequency of the spasms that echoed through the hull was less than ideal, not to mention a little disturbing. Still despite the fact that there was no chair at the transporter station and that he was grasping onto the console with a white-knuckled grip that would have rivaled a freestyle rock climber, Josh had failed more than once to stay entirely on his feet. As the ship bucked again beneath his feet, his commbadge chirped. =^=Ichijo to Transporter one=^= Dawson paused for a second before remembering exactly who Ichijo was before tapping his commbadge, even as he fought to retain his footing through another barrage of impacts. "Dawson here." he croaked, even as his feet slipped out from beneath him and landed him firmly on his rear on the deck. "Owwww..." =^=Would the transporter have the ability to remove a specific section of bulkhead as well as a patient?=^= the voice inquired , obviously oblivious to Dawson's not-so-sure-footedness. "Ummm. Yeah." he replied as he used the console to lever himself back up to a standing position. His feet were spread apart, turning him into an effective tripod. The third anchor point consisting of the console. "But I'd have to take the ACB offline and recalibrate the targeting sensors to do it." he replied. =^=Oh, sorry not enough time for that, thank you anyway, Ichijo out=^= Josh couldn't help but think that she had sounded disappointed by his answer. He was sort of sorry that it didn't meet muster, but he had told her straight away what was going on. A couple of minutes passed in relative silence, with the jerks of the ship's deck coming only in waves instead of a constant barrage. Dawson was just taking a deep centering breath when his commbadge chirped again. =^=Ichijo to Transporter one=^= ~The doctor again~ Dawson thought as he tapped his badge to reply a second time. "Dawson again, Transporter room standing by." =^= Site to site, two for surgical suite C=^= Now that was something he could do. "Energizing now, Doctor." Dawson's hands slid over the controls as he carried out his new instructions. A few moments later he was finished and placing the transporter back into standby for his next call. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 19, Section 82A - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 11 - 1212) The deck beneath her seemed to be in a constant state of not exactly where she expected it to be. She could only hope that the battle would be over soon and that they were at least on the less damaged side of things. While it wasn't in her nature to wish harm on others she was very well aware that was the nature of the opponents they faced. Seeing the damage on the mining station had been enough to convince her of that. ~Why didn't I ask one of the other officers to assist~ She lamented as she reached section 82A. Thick smoke spilled out into the corridor as she opened up the section. As the Lieutenant had stated, it was making a lovely melting hole straight through the deck. Or at least would be through the deck if she didn't cut its power and shut it down soon. Mitena unclipped the small mask from the fire suppression unit and slipped it over her nose and mouth. Microadhesives held it in place. Half of the room was a sagging mess. It reminded her of the way a candle would begin to soften on the edges just before it started dripping. A fire had started on the far side of the large room and was slowly consuming anything that it could. It was obvious why the console that would have controlled the power relay had failed to respond. A beam from the section above had fallen down and smashed the better half of it. Leaving a mess of circuitry crushed beneath it. She rubbed her eyes and sat the rest of her gear down near the door. "Computer, seal this section. Class 3 containment." She said as she sat down on the floor next to the gear. [Section 82A is sealed] ~there's that part~ "Computer, evacuate the air in Section 82A in three - two second bursts. Unseal the section when complete." She said, hoping that would be enough to clear out the smoke. As the computer stated its compliance, Mitena made her way across the floor on her knees so that she could get under the fallen beam and to the connection to sever the power. She held her breath the whole time. As she counted the last of the three burst she began coughing. She didn't know if it was because she'd been holding her breath or because smoke had still managed to get through the mask. It only emphasized that the job needed to be done quickly. She pulled the necessary tools out and began working in earnest. She stifled a startled scream when the ship once again jerked and the beam that lay partially over the console shifted. She was certain that it was going to end up landing on her any moment. Once she had the power disconnected she would be able to seal the entire area and allow normal fire suppression to take over. It seemed like it took an eternity to completely disconnect the malfunctioning power relay from the ship's systems. In all actuality, only three minutes had passed. She crawled back under the beam and hoped that it wouldn't shift and crush her under it. That thought pushed her to move quicker then she was certain she normally would have been able. It wasn't until she was back out into the corridor that she'd realized she'd left the tool kit in the room. ~Just this once, I'm not going back in there to get it.~ She went past the bulk head that marked the end of the section and had the computer seal it completely. Just as she was about to inform Lieutenant Morrow of her progress when her comm badge chirped. =/\=Morrow to Rixx.=/\= "Yes Sir" Mitena responded with a quick hand to her Comm Badge. She certainly hoped that he didn't tell her there was another fire. =/\=We've got a plasma coolant leak and a potential warp core breach in progress in Main engineering. I've evacuated the compartment. I'm doing what I can to stop the breach. You are now in command of the Engineering department." he said, his lungs burning with the effort of speech. "One last thing. Don't let this ship die, ensign. That's an order.=/\= Mitena's breath caught in her throat. Questions buzzed through her mind faster then she would have considered, most of them seemed to begin with variants of "What should I do about ... " But she knew his expectation wasn't that she'd ask him what to do but that she'd do what she needed to done. "Yes Sir. I'll do the best that I can, Sir." She said more stoically then she'd ever said anything in her entire life. (reply none) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Engineering bay- Ens Kimiko Ichijo- Day 11- 1229) The young doctor materialized in the center of the auxiliary engineering bay. Kimiko felt a little bad to use a transporter in the middle to combat, but assuaged guilt a little by coming with medical supplies. She motioned to a corpsman who was finishing up on a laceration. “I would like you to distribute these, please” She pointed to the stack of supplies “Thank you” Kimiko glanced over the scene, it looked as if everything was well in hand. Kimiko noticed that there were two bodies that dragged over in front of the blast doors. Kimiko reconfigured her tricorder to check vitals. The two bodies ~I am seeing far too many of these~ returned no life signs, however there was a weak return beyond the doors. Dr Ichijo, switched her tricorder over to computation and flicked a few buttons, satisfied with the results, she dropped the tricordor to her side. Kimiko got the attention of crewman that she was speaking to earlier and rushed over to a locker and started dragging out radiation suits. While she was looking for something her size., she looked at the crewman. “I need you to shut this door after I go through it, it seems….” Kimiko turned around while zipping herself up. The blasted crewman had disappeared. ~I really need to get his name~ She sealed her suit and gave her an injection, then set off the crewman but before she could leave to find him, he returned with a Lieutenant in tow. “Doctor, Johnson tells me that you are considering opening a door to a room filled with a lethal amount of radiation” Kimiko looks for the hood that went with the suit. “Actually, I was doing more than considering. There is someone that is still alive on the other side and we have lost enough crew so far. The exposure risk is minimal, particularly since all the crew in this has been treated, however I would advise anyone under forty-eight kilos to leave within the next sixty minutes.” Kimiko looked at the officer and stated “Now if you would close the doors after me, I will find another point of egress so as to not expose the compartment again.” She put the hood on, smiled with a half-bow and turned towards that door. The small form of the doctor disappeared into the mists in main engineering as the doors slid closed. (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Bridge – FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU)- Day 11 -1230.5) Jennifer was simply sitting in her chair on the Bridge, once again monitoring everything that was going on around her. To anyone who dared to look at her she simply looked as if she was leaning back in her chair, quite relaxed and ready to serve tea to anyone who cared to ask for a cup. However, relaxed as she might seem, her brain was working overtime to make sure that her Rosenante came out on top of this particular battle and she was directing all of her resources to finding a way to make that happen. She had watched quietly as the Captain spoke to his counterpart in this universe, paying particular attention to her own Doppelganger who seemed to be sitting there so calm and collected, as if she did not have a care in the world. Jennifer was almost glad when the Captain ordered their ship to open fire on the other two. Perhaps finally they had enemies worthy of them rather than the sad and pitiful excuse for ships that he had asked Jennifer to destroy earlier. None of them had been a challenge and Jennifer had finally given up being interested in watching them die, merely giving the order to fire and leaving it up to the rest of the crew to destroy them. This battle however was far more interesting. Both Rosenante's were equally matched and if it had simply been a trade off between the two ships it would have finally come down to who had the better crew and Jennifer had no illusions about what ship would finally win. However the Furious did indeed throw something else into the mix and when it finally split into three separate ships Jennifer knew that they had a fight on their hands. Watching her display she could see that every ship in this battle was taking a pounding and very shortly something would give that would finally give one side or the other the edge they needed. At present she was devoting all of her efforts to make sure that this edge fell their way. Suddenly one of the parts of the Furious expanded into a fireball. Jennifer could only surmise that their warp core had breached but within moments she was sending suggested firing solutions to Tactical to allow them to take advantage of the situation. Finally as the Captain ordered the Omega device to be fired Jennifer smiled. One of the ships harrying them would now have to break off their pursuit and deal with the device if they wanted to save this system and it's pitiful inhabitants. That left one ship that they would need to deal with and Jennifer was sure that they were more than a match for them. (No reply needed, just getting back into the swing lol) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - COPS- Lt Tom Jackson - Day 11 -1231) Tom's beloved Rosenante was being mercilessly pounded. Consoles explode as the Rose shook under the heavy fire of its evil counterpart. Tom and Robbie worked hard to keep the shields up and functioning. Alimi Morrow and his Engineering folks were truly miracle workers to have enabled the Rose to last this long. The scene on the bridge looked like Dante's Inferno must have. The Rosenante shuddered again with a heavy blast from its mirror image. A bulkhead over the Captain came crashing down and nearly pinned the CO. I He was injured but alive. Ensign Mides had been pierced by shrapnel from his exploding console and then the man literally peeled like a cooked onion as a result of the resulting flash fire. "Robbie, take over OPS" Jackson yelled as he pulled Midas from his position. Jackson tossed the younger man to the side. (reply: Robbie) Jackson had also studied Helm operations at the academy and while rusty, this was certainly no time to be shy. Jackson re-outed helm controls to an auxiliary station. He turned the Rose away from the persistent attacker. The Rose was moving away firing but limping none the less. Lieutenant Thomas J. Jackson --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge – COPS- LT Tom Jackson Day 11 - 1232.7) Captain Salid and Chance were discussing a possible plan of action. Tom was catching bits and pieces of the conversation. He had not done a lot of helm work but was managing to not hit anything. Chance suggested the the USS Captain might loose control of the situation should he learn that some Junior Officers and NCO's were holding of his mighty ship. Tom had to admit Chance's plan had merit. Captain Salid seemed to turn it down but suggested something neither he nor Chance had considered. The captain suggested they act as if they were running the ship from the auxiliary control bridge. Tom had to admit the idea had merit. If the the federation;s Rose were scanned he was sure it would show enough damage to make the to auxiliary control feasible. Jackson also had to admit Chance might be right about the Evil Captain Salid's ego. If he believe he was being held off ny jr officers and nco's his guard might slip. Chance startled Tom with " Let's go Tom - you are with em". Tom rose and had a PO3 take over the helm station. On e inside the Turbo lift Chance issued =orders to have personnel meet them in the auxiliary control area. Raschen then asked Jackson about the shield statuses of the two vessels. Tom Jackson sighed and replied "Chance, we've lost forward and ventral shields. Our Starboard and port shields badly depleted he replied. "As for the bad guys Chance, as best we can determine they have lost their port side shields and dorsal shields, secondaries on-line All other shields badly deplete" Jackson added. (reply Chance) The two Lieutenants soon entered the Auxiliary Bridge. Chance spoke to a petty offic er named Chin asking "The turbo-lift doors opened up to the Auxiliary Bridge. Raschen was glad to see his cyber-crime team already there. PO2 John Chin had already taken charge and started checks on all the consoles. As the 2 officers stepped out of the lift, Chance called out “Johnny, what’s our status?” The petty officer turned and looked at the two lieutenants and said “Well sir, everything down here is in pretty good shape. I have routed everything through the number 3 computer core so as not to accidently interfere with the Main Bridge running off the primary core. We have also re-routed, or just closed out many of the non-essential routines, to the number 3 as well in order to improve computer speed for the Main Bridge.” “Good work, now I want you to start searching our computer banks and find the Command Console Codes for this ship, then sends them up to the skipper on the Main Bridge. Let me know when he gets them.” “Roger that sir.” PO2 Chin said before sitting down at the science station to begin his assignment. Tom searched his memory and did;t recognize the enlisted man. Chance smiled at Jackson and told him "He was in Operations at one time; when I was just the acting CSEC we found him by accident hacking into BUPERS trying to get 300 more females assigned to the Rose. I stole him from Ops and now he heads up the Cyber-Security Squad.” Tom chuckled and looked a the enlisted man and said - "Mr Chin, I wish you had succeeded" and shook his head, laughing. (reply: Chin or Chance) Chance sat in the captain;s chair and said to Jackson " ready to play First Officer?". Tom took the seat normally set aside for the FO and replied "Aye Captain Raschen" Tom replied signaling a 'thumbs up up". "Ensign Jones, status of shields and weapons" Andrus yelled as the Vigilant rocked again. (reply: Fred Jones) "K'tar, Keep targeting the ISS Rosenante's starboard ventral shields. Fire when an optimum range is achieved" the young CO ordered. Andrus had the helm dance about as if they were a bothersome mosquito - they fire, move and fire again. Andrus had to admit that the ISS ship was well manned - wherever he went they followed. K'tar responded quickly "target lock achieved Sir". Andrus simply said "fire". The sphaser fire lept from his ship and the helm instinctively moved then down and left 100,000 meters. His heart sank as he observed the Federation Rose being pounded hard. He didn't know many of the crew but they were fellow officers and once again he found himself crossing his fingers. His Rose was moving away but still pounding the evil Rosenante. Commander Sloane had rolled the Courageous on to her back, so that the smaller vessel's shields could act as a buffer between the more powerful battleship and the smaller Courageous. The vessel rocked again as two quantum torpedoes struck the smaller craft, sending a cascade of sparks through the vessel's systems. Benet quickly rerouted as much of the dangerous power surge as he could to more resilient systems, even as he was calling out the ship's status. "Forward shields at 13% commander, we've lost power to all transporters and the main deflector array is showing extensive damage. Minor damage on the upper three decks." he called. "Very well, keep those shields up." Sloane replied in a tone of voice that was almost glacial. Her eyes never leaving the main viewer even as she was ordering the tactical officer to fire another burst of concentrated phaser fire at their opponent's bridge. The Tactical officer replied with a shake of his head, " No affect commander, they have additional shielding erected around their bridge, phaser fire was ineffectual." =^=Bridge!=^= The voice of the Courageous' engineering officer spit out. Erin tapped her own commbadge. "Bridge here." =^=Forward shields are almost gone!=^= He shouted. =^=Thirteen percent, one more hit and we're frickin fried. How about fartin' at them for a bit? Aft shields are at eighty two percent. I can hold this **** ship together a bit longer if you'll cut me some slack.=^= "Helm, give us a nice wide return arc. Let's give Mister Skolfe a few moments to work his magic." she ordered with the line still open. =^=Bout time.=^= The reply came back from her engineer, but was followed by, =^=Don't take that as a compliment captain.=^= Erin, if she had more time maybe would have gotten considerably more upset. Instead, she just grimaced and replied quickly, "I could care less about your thought's on the tactical situation mister Skolfe, just do your job and keep this ship operational. Bridge out." Benet smiled slightly at the commander's remarks. A lot of people had wanted to give Skolfe a word or two of advice similar to what the commander had just offered, but very few could get away with it. Somehow the exchange between Sloane and the Tellerite had given him a reason to smile. It was short lived however as he was suddenly very busy trying to deal with a brute force attack against their computer core by someone on the ISS Rosenante. "Commander, we have a brute force attack underway against out core from the ISS Rosenante. They're trying to crack our encryptions." He reported. That caused her to turn in her seat. "Can you stop it?" She asked quickly, lines of worry suddenly surrounding her eyes. "I think I can..." Benet replied, and then every console on the bridge suddenly flashed access denied icons. =^=Bridge I'm getting static from the computer core, I have a tech on his way to check the monitoring system. Please try not to turn him into paste against a bulkhead=^= Erin tapped her commbadge and replied, "acknowledged. Bridge out." Jason suddenly went white as the color from his face drained away. "What's happened?" Sloane asked suddenly anxious as she nearly leapt from her seat to stalk quickly towards the operations console on the bridge of the Courageous. "I....I... Think we've been locked out of our own computer core." He replied, then he nodded, "Yep, there's a fractal encryption here. I can't override it, it's....impossible." Erin's blood ran cold as she realized what was happening. "Get me a channel to the Furious." She demanded a sense of urgency riding on the timbre of her voice. "Communications are off line." Benet replied. "Our weapons are off line!" Xath the Tactical officer called out. "Good Lord." Erin muttered as she turned to look at the main view screen. Suddenly there was a hum and a series of electrical discharges shot from the consoles, Jason pulled away just in time to avoid taking the full brunt of the blast, others on the bridge were not so lucky. [Self destruct activated. Fifteen minutes, with audible countdown in five minute intervals.] the computer suddenly announced. "Sweet Jesus!" Jason swore and turned towards his near useless console. "You need to regain control of the computer." Erin ordered. "Shut down the self destruct." "I can't it's been encrypted." =^=I would like to give my condolences to the lot of you.=^= a new voice suddenly sounded from the communications output devices on the ship. Jason could only assume that everyone on the vessel heard the statement. "Why would you do that?" Erin asked, only half way engaged in the conversation with the new voice, she was trying to find some way to restore computer control. =^=Because you should be heading to the escape pods instead of trying to gain control of your ship, but that wouldn't be the Courageous thing to do would it?=^= The statement was so chilling that Jason knew immediately that the disembodied voice would most assuredly destroy the ship and all her crew. He looked anxiously to Commander Sloane. She looked up at him. "Order all hands to abandon ship." she said simply. Jason turned and keyed the inter-ship communications. They did not respond. "Intercom is off line." he reported. There was no way to get the word out. Erin turned to look at those still on the bridge. "Abandon ship, that's an order. Pass the word by mouth. Go now!" she ordered. A few of those that were injured but ambulatory nodded and they and everyone else that was able began heading for the life boats. Jason stood, still in front of his console. Like the commander, he was going to do everything in his power to restore control of the ship's systems. Within a few moments, he realized that only he and Sloane remained behind. "I gave you an order ensign." Sloane stated, even as she was frantically tapping in command codes and trying to free the ship's systems. "With all due respect commander." Jason replied, "I'll resign my commission. If you give that order again." He could feel Erin's hat eyes burning into the side of his face, even as he was trying to reroute the command circuits. "Okay, fine." she finally replied, "I rescind the order." [5 minutes to self destruct] "Life boats are loaded and sealed." Jason replied, "They aren't jettisoning." he replied. "That bastard!" Erin called, "Can you override the launch sequences and launch them anyway?" Jason changed his console configuration and attempted to override the launch safeties. Time and time again he got no response. Finally in frustration he turned to look at commander Sloane. "I'm sorry commander, It's no good." Erin nodded, then managed to take a deep breath, eve n as the computer chimed out. [Self Destruct in 5] [...4] [...3] [...2] "Thank you Jason for not leaving me alone." she said. [...1] "You're welcome Erin." he replied then forced a smile Suddenly he was engulfed in a white hot flash of light and he ceased to exist. Raschne explained what the needed done. "“I want the skipper to hear both sides of the upcoming ‘discussions’ so he will know what is being said. The other Salid will probably cut the connection; as soon as that happens just go ahead and re-establish comms. The point is to get him so P.O.ed at me that it causes him to lose track of the battle." "can do chance" Jackson replied. He set things up and nodded to Chance the line to the ISS vessel was open. Tom watched the 'master' at work. Jackson marveled as Chance managed to get under the skin of the mirror universe's Captain Salid. He had not said much just smiled in a manner he hoped replayed supreme confidence and arrogance. Chance turned his attention to the MU's Cmdr Caskie. The banter between them was also highly entreating. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 11 -1244) Jackson had shifted to the CONN station and then he and Raschen had left the bridge to assume the auxiliary bridge in an attempt to goad the alternate Salid into a foolish act of pride. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - FO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 11 -1244.5) Josh packed away the bridge first aide kit as the Medical team beamed in and began treating the wounded. Before the Captain allowed himself to be treated by Dr Lopez he turned to her. "Commander take the helm." She simply nodded. "Aye Sir." Sliding into the seat that Jackson had so recently vacated she checked over the console and waited for the Captain's next orders. She didn't have to wait long. "Bring us around on a slow portside arc. I want them to think we're having difficulty with helm control." Josh nodded again. "No worries slow and slightly erratic portside arc." Her fingers didn't exactly dance around the controls as a trained helm officer's would have but her hesitation would give them precisely what the Captain had asked for. It made it look to anyone who was paying attention that the helm controls were sluggish and that there might be some difficulty with them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Courageous- Computer core - Computer tech Ensign Jerry Stevens - Day 11 - 1245) Jerry Stevens otherwise known as Jacko entered the main computer control room outside the core and set his bag of electronic equipment beside the main control console and took out a speizo-optic test unit so that he could 'shoot' the optical data network running through the ships decks. This scanner worked on a similar principle to a fiber optic test unit in use on Earth during the early twenty first century called an OTDR or Optical Time Domain Reflectometer. The purpose was to send a beam of energy through the lines of optical cable and measure the reflection or "bounce and how long it would take for that reflection to return to the unit. The device would tell him whether there was a break in the network and how far down the line it was and also determine decibel loss which could affect network performance. It was far more active than that ancient device though as it would check each and every node running from the control room rather than only one at a time and only take five to ten minutes to do so. A far cry more sensitive and exhaustive than the old way. Since he knew the computer access in engineering was acting up he would do the check from this side, it would tell him if there was indeed a break on deck seventeen and trace it all the way to engineering if not, that would narrow the problem down quickly. He pulled an access panel from beneath the monitor and plugged the unit in then turned it on, as he waited he accessed the unit. Unfortunately he got the same weird lettering on this monitor. ~What the hell! It's almost like a friggin' mathematical formula.~ Tapping his combadge he called. "Chief! I'm getting the same readings in computer control." Silence answered him. Tapping the combadge again he repeated the message. ~Still no answer.~ Scrolling through the system logs he noted that communications was down as well as engineering control. As he did so the weapons went offline. ~Holy hell!~ The ship still rocked intermittently from hits. His hands fairly flew over the keys as he tried to reactivate the systems, all he got for his protracted efforts was a garbled voice. [Comma** *ot rec**nize*.] He was trying for the third time when an arc of energy shot through the console and threw him away, he heard an explosion from almost directly beneath his feet as he was sent sprawling to the deck, had he been gripping something when it occurred he would have been fried. He shook his head while his arms and chest throbbed, as his vision cleared he saw the smoking remains of his test equipment. His heart was beating rapidly. ~Cardiac arrhythmia? A heart attack from the shock? His breath was coming in short gasps but that wasn't the entirety of his worries, medical couldn't help the other problem. [Auto destruct sequence initiated. Self destruct in fifteen minutes.] When the countdown reached ten he was frantically trying to regain control of the computer to no avail, his labored breathing finally forcing him to stop and sink to the floor, as he lay on his side a mocking voice emanated from the audio outputs. =^= I would like to give my condolences to the lot of you.=^= A wave of nausea swept over him as the throbbing grew more pronounced and his chest felt like a lead balloon. =^= Because you should be heading to the escape pods instead of trying to gain control of your ship, but that wouldn't be the Courageous thing to do would it? =^= He never felt the explosion that tore the Courageous to smithereens. The surface of his skin was blistered and charred and was now bleeding as the radiation burned the upper layers of the skin. His guts were burning too, his lungs were aching with every breath that he took, as if he were breathing gasified fire, which ironically he was. Joints and muscles were swelling as some of the water in the cells was beginning to boil inside them and Alimi had never been in so much pain in his entire life. He was hovering in front of the matter/antimatter reaction chamber, the safety cover removed and both hands thrust inside in an attempt to force the magnetic constrictors into the proper position. He tapped gently on the constrictor ring actuators, trying to tighten the rapidly weakening field. Until the rings were constricted enough, the ejection system could not be forced, wither mechanically or manually. Alimi was dead set against allowing the field to fail while he was still alive, which judging from the pain and difficulties he was having, just operating, may not be much longer. The spanner moved slowly gently, jerking only as a stray band of energy cut across his hand vaporizing flesh or causing a bevy of critical blisters to form from a near miss. "Come on...." he muttered, repeating the same mantra for the three hundredth time since deciding that he had to remain behind. His breathing was ragged, drawing in large irradiated gulps of air that ironically was rapidly making it more difficult to breath. With a loud pop the actuator finally snapped into place and Alimi, withdrew his hands, collapsing on a heap in the floor, near the open panel. A stream of radioactive particles had excited the plasma near the interface. The air was alive with miniature plasma storms and auroras that were almost soothing to him, if it wasn't for the fact that he knew they were sirens of death. He raised his head and absently brushed some sweat from his face, tearing away some of the blistered layer of flesh and dislodging a sizeable section of the surface layers of skin on his neck and shoulder as well. The wound was seeping, a slow bloody mess that was so damaged that it couldn't even coagulate properly. He regarded his flesh scarred hand then and was surprised by the lack of pain that e was feeling from the obviously injured area. His eyes pulled away then, from the bloody mess that was his left hand and traveled up along the deck to the slow pulsing maglock control that was the manual override for interior ejection hatch. With a great deal of effort and leaving behind a trail of peeling flesh and blood against the core where he had just been leaning, Alimi forced himself to his feet. The Chief engineer was down to his last reserves of energy and he knew that his lungs wouldn't be able to handle much more before they would stop functioning and he'd suffocate. He had to reach that mechanism and get the interior hatch open, and then he had to disengage the warp interlink, drop the core through the inner hatch, close the inner hatch and then manually force the outer hatch open as well. Only then would the warp core be free of the ship and that particular danger be averted. His eyes wandered over to the master console and took in the data as he struggled across the room. It had to happen soon, or the core would collapse before it could be jettisoned. Alimi staggered forward, forcing first one foot than the other to slid forward towards his next objective. After an exceedingly excruciating trip, he reached the maglock, and began to struggle to disengage it, even as he realized that he was going to collapse. Alimi's eyes rolled up into his head and in a fit of coughing and bloody convulsions, collapsed onto the deck as the timer continued to count down. There had been serious problems with the various turbolift’s’ malfunctioning, due to electrical damage sustained by his ship’s furious on going battle with the mirror universe’s Rose. In the end, Jon had been forced to negotiate the last two decks between him and main engineering on foot. V”Shera was reporting the same difficulties in reaching engineering from Deck 7. All the time the count-down clock was clicking away in Main Engineering’s #2 warp core! Jon taped his comm-badge to Engineering CEO Morrow. “CEO Morrow, what is the status of warp core 2? Lt. The bursts of light made it very difficult to focus on anything in here; she pulled out her tricorder and tried to localize the life signal. ~of course the radiation is playing merry hell with it,~ Kimiko fought the urge to smack it ~these device were not created to function in this type of environment, well neither am I, I suppose.~ The device gave a little chime as if to agree with her and displayed a very faint return. The ensign rushed over to the figure, stumbling over a discarded tool. ~Oww, darn it, they need to put their tools away, its a hazard~ She knelled beside the body, she could barely recognize it as a human engineer, much less who it was. The badge on his breast chirped =^=CEO Morrow, what is the status of warp core 2? Lt. Nayati and Ensign V’Shera will be there imminently to manually eject core 2.=^= Kimiko reached over and tapped his comm.. “This is Kimi…errr Dr Ichijo, Chief Morrow is unconscious and judging by the alarms and flashing lights, I think that warp core two is not doing very well” She looked at the etched LCARS that were streaming figures. “As I would not want any engineer to conduct a surgery, I am not going to tinker with a warp core, so please expedite” Kimiko prepared a high dose of Arithrazine and epinephrine and injected that officer, then placed a filtered rebreather, across his face. Kimiko gently tugged the body onto a foil bag and sealed it. She looked around for a sealed room, but one place looked like another down here. She pulled out her padd and the screen was white. ~Not good~ “Computer, activate EMH, please” (Reply EMH) NRPG: not sure what the EMH is capable of, so I will try to leave some latitude. Glancing around he quickly turned to the doctor. "Doctor, this is hardly a suitable place for treating a patient, and whilst I notice that you have indeed taken the precaution of wearing a Rad Suite the levels of lethal radiation in this area suggest that you have less than five minutes before you yourself begin to succumb to their effects." “Yes, I am very much aware that this is not a suitable location for treatment, however if you could lead me to the CEO’s office” The EMH looked around and finally nodded. "Ah yes, I understand. Your visual acuity cannot cope with the radiation patterns manifesting here. By all means, the CEO's Office is four metres slightly to your left. If you would care to follow me please. Would you like me to carry your patient for you?" Kimiko grabbed a handle and pulled that body towards the direction indicated, When she was at the door she over-rode the door, pulled the body inside, and resealed the door. The EMH shrugged. "Or by all means you could simply drag him there yourself if that is what you prefer." Having followed Dr Ichijo into the CEO's office the EMH listened as she ordered a superficial decon and then requested that she and her patient be beamed directly out. Watching as both of them were beamed away he sighed. "Well, I'll just continue with what I was doing then shall I?" (No reply needed) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Bridge - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU)- Day 11 -1248) It was almost too easy, pounding the Federation version of his starship into submission. The design was not as robust and the federation crew was not of the same caliber as his own battle-hardened cadre. And then Maddox's destruction of the Courageous was an even better stroke of good fortune. He'd have to remember the Android's service to him. "Captain, we're receiving a communication from the Federation starship." Ahmed turned to smile at his first officer. "Perhaps they are ready to surrender now." he quipped. (reply Caskie MU) "Put them on screen." he commanded. The image shifted to the auxiliary bridge of the Rosenante. Temerarious was sitting in the command chair with Lieutenant Jackson sitting in the first Officer's position. The rest of the crew appeared to be junior officers and senior Enlisted. And although the bridge looked to be in good shape, he knew that the main bridge was probably inoperative as a result of the beating they'd taken. His counter part was most likely already dead if Temerarious was in command. He smiled, knowing that chance had really only one option remaining which was to surrender the ship to him. What the junior man said however was not exactly what the Imperial Captain expected to hear. =^=What the hell were you taught in command school Ahmed? Or are you just another turd chasing engineer playing at being a captain?=^= Ahmed's face turned brilliant red at Raschen's insulting words. He was the pre-eminent captain in the imperial fleet. The commander of their flagship. The scourge of the Klingons and a man whose name struck fear into the very blood of the Cardassian union. How dare this man speak to him so! A moment passed as the commander of the Imperial starship seethed. He worked his jaw in silent rage, before he finally replied. "I will skin you alive. I will see to it you suffer so much that you beg to die you worm." =^=I don't think you have it in you to come after me without using your Omega do-dad. In fact, I bet that self-medicated cutie of a First Mate sitting next to you has a bigger set gonads than you do.=^= Raschen replied before turning his focus to Ahmed's first Officer "What do you have to say Jenny, think you got a bigger set than your skipper here?=^= (reply Caskie MU) It was apparent that Raschen did not realize that the Omega device had been launched already, or perhaps he had and was hoping that Ahmed would destroy it rather than allowing it to continue onward to it's target. Either way, the captain of the Imperials starship Rosenante knew that he could not stop the weapon now, even if he wanted to. =^=Well then, come on. Though honestly, I really don't think you have one hair on your butt to come after me and not use that do-dad of an Omega what-cha-ma-call-it to destroy my ship. And Salid, I'm not saying you're the biggest coward I've ever come across, but I am thinking it.=^= Ahmed glanced up at the chronometer, there would be plenty of time to deal with Raschen before the device reached it's target. "Oh, I'm coming for you Raschen." he replied coldly, before jabbing a finger into the button on his console that closed the channel. "Nayati. Full impulse, Intercept the Rosenante." (Reply Nayati MU) "Sullivan I want that ship destroyed!" (reply Sullivan MU) The two vessels closed distance, his own powerful warship pounding the badly damaged federation ship with phasers and torpedoes. That ship was returning fire almost as heavily, but the Imperial crew were more experienced and managed to keep this ship from suffering too much damage. "I want to see the white of their eyes." Ahmed commanded, "Pass by on their starboard side, after our pass I want them to be a floating coffin!" (reply Nayati, Sullivan) The ship's closed distance, rushing together at nearly the speed of light, when suddenly, his ship started acting funny. "Shields and weapons are off-line!" someone shouted, "And now engines!" Salid spun and screamed, "Get them back now!" "No response, sir." the same officer replied. The captain sprung from his command chair and rushed over to the console. The Bridge specialist did not move fast enough and Salid, shoved him out of the way and onto the deck. Suddenly, every single console changed to display the Greek Omega symbol. Nothing he did would respond. "All systems are unresponsive." someone reported. Ahmed turned back to look at the federation starship hovering in the center of his main view screen. His anger mounting even as the imperial Rosenante jerked as the other vessel locked onto her with a tractor beam. "They'll try to board us now." he said to no one in particular. "He knew that he'd been beaten, not by a skilled warrior, but by a dirty trick. Chance Raschen had beaten him. He turned to look at his senior crew. "There's no need to counter board." he said, "The Omega device will finish us all in a few minutes. Let them board us unmolested." It wasn't as if she wasn't doing anything. She had her own HUD activated and when needed she sent tactical information wherever it would be best needed. So far they were holding there own against far stronger odds and when one of the parts of the Furious had simply exploded unexpectedly Jennifer had simply smiled, happy that this was one less thing they had to worry about. When someone on the Bridge called out that they were receiving a communication from the other ship Ahmed turned to her and smiled. "Perhaps they are ready to surrender now." She kept her face neutral since she rather doubted that this would be the case, however she nodded to the Captain and turned her face to the main screen. What Jennifer saw on the main screen certainly wasn't what she expected to see. She had expected to see the bridge of the Rose and Captain Salid offering his surrender, what she saw was the auxiliary Bridge and a whole parcel of junior officers offering them nothing more than insults. Her captain immediately became red in the face angry at the insults that were being thrown at him and Jennifer cringed inwardly. This was not good. There obviously had to be a reason for these taunts. They were either stalling or trying to goad Salid into doing something stupid. Josh immediately began tapping selected keys on her padd in the hope of overriding anything silly that might happen. Suddenly the person on the screen turned his attention towards her. =^=I don't think you have it in you to come after me without using your Omega do-dad. In fact, I bet that self-medicated cutie of a First Mate sitting next to you has a bigger set gonads than you do.=^= Raschen replied before turning his focus to Ahmed's first Officer "What do you have to say Jenny, think you got a bigger set than your skipper here?=^= Jennifer simply sat there and smiled widely. "Why don't you come over and see Chance. You talk a good talk. Can you back it up with action or are you like a lot of people, all wind and no fire." The captain ordered them to head towards the other Rose and the distance closed quickly with fire coming from all sides. Suddenly when they were almost at their nearest someone on the Bridge called out. "Shields and weapons are off-line!" someone shouted, "And now engines!" Suddenly every console began showing the same display and Jennifer although she tried her hardest could not clear them. As a tractor beam was locked on to them Jennifer looked over at her captain. Let them board us unmolested." Jennifer turned away disgusted that he would even think of giving up even if it was only for the few minutes they had left. She so wanted to kill him here and now and she seriously thought about it, knowing that her son would finally be proud of her if he ever knew of her actions. But the moment passed and Jennifer's sense of self preservation kicked in and she simply sat it her chair and waited. "Why should I need to kill you. You gave up. You are already dead and you know it. I however have other plans." (Reply anyone on the MU) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Bridge - CO, Captain Saleke and CSO, Holis Gralen- 1250.5) "Captain the Courageous has been destroyed." Holis subdued note caught the vulcans' attention, he turned to see the scientist looking toward him. "It wasn't during an attack and they hadn't taken enough damage to have caused it." "Warp core breach?" The captain inquired. "Not enough data yet." Holis replied. I'm reviewing the telemetry from the automated reports now, as soon as I know anything I'll report it." Saleke nodded and turned back to watch the viewscreen, the loss of the Courageous was troubling though not unexpected. It was the way it was lost that made it uniquely interesting. The loss of the one hundred twenty five personnel aboard her including his first officer made it a singularly disabling blow to the ship. "Captain I'm reading an attack on our computer system." Ensign Cooper reported. "Initiating countermeasures." The Furious rocked from another blast as she came around with her bow once more to the ISS Rosenante, the launch of the quantum torpedoes walked across the starboard hull, unleashing their wrath against the enemy ship. Hull and atmosphere exploded outward and the Imperial warship rocked like a tree caught in a gale. The ISS Rose wasn't done yet though, the attacks from her increased which forced a brace of evasive maneuvers from helm and effectively ended what had begun as a successful attack run. Lights on the bridge dimmed for a moment as the tactical panel shorted out, the holographic capsule disappearing from around the officer who didn't waste any time but moved to one of the redundant back-up panels to initiate it. "Report Mr. Cooper." "Offensive systems offline Captain, I have routed damage control teams to EPS support on deck eight and the fusion reactor is offline, unknown damage at this time. Hull breaches on decks seven and nine with reports of casualties. Emergency force barriers have been erected in the compromised areas and are holding. Using warp power to stabilize environmental systems and the SIF." "Helm continue evasive maneuvers until tactical has been reactivated." "Aye sir." "Captain!" Saleke looked to his right to note Dr. Gralen appeared agitated. "Something in the logs from the Courageous." The scientist replied. "I can't make heads nor tails of it. We lost the feed sixteen point five minutes before the ship was destroyed, toward the end of the feed I'm getting gibbersih." "Explain." "Come see for yourself captain." Holis stood up from his chair then moved aside as Saleke made his way to the console. Bending down the vulcan studied the readout intently for a moment before straightening back up and looking at the scientist. "Fractals doctor." "You mean as in a fractal code?" "Indeed." "Didn't I see a report from the Hades a couple of weeks ago before we left Geneva about a completed fractal series they found on the mission they had just completed? An Ensign Doorman and CSO Hayes or something like that?" "Haynes Doctor." "Then you did see it!" "Yes, an alien technology based on a Mandelbrot -9 series of fractal equations, the science itself was fascinating." Saleke turned back to let his gaze sweep across the bridge once more, tactical was still down for the moment, apparently disabled by the fault in the EPS systems once again. A problem there four days ago had sidelined the CEO for a short time. The Hades had been returning from their mission while Saleke was being called in from Geneva. he had had several days both before and during the flight to Earth to pore over the voluminous reports and scientific theory as well as technological discoveries. "Captain I'm getting gibberish from the computer all of a sudden." Cooper reported. "Gibberish?" "Weird symbols scrolling across my monitor and the computer isn't responding." Salekes gaze met Holis' who immediately jumped to his panel, several tries later he had a partially responsive computer that was spouting the same strange symbols. "It's the same type of thing!"Holis' voice was at once awed and shocked." "And this proceeded the Courageous' destruction, I need answers doctor." "It appears to be a lock-out encryption." Holis stated. "The computer is unresponsive." "Can you override it?" "No." The scientist answered matter of factly. "Not from here and if you had asked me several weeks ago whether I could break it I would have told you no. Things have changed considerably in the last couple of weeks though." "Captain the computer is completely unresponsive." Cooper called out. "Engineering appears to be locked out of the system and communications are down." Holis agreed. "The computer system is completely locked out. How to unblock it ..." His eyes lit up suddenly as he paced. "I need a PADD!" He hurried to the command chair and pressed the button causing Saleke's personal PADD to pop up from the arm. "Captain I need the access panel beneath my console opened while I do this." Saleke's eyes narrowed and he shook his head tersely before getting down on the floor beneath the console as Holis approached. "A Mandelbrot series -9 equation is vastly different from our own mathematical schemes of course and we would be completely helpless if we tried to crack it conventionally so I'm working on a decryption program based on those formulae. " The access panel doors disengage was stuck, Saleke flexed his muscles as he readied himself with a foot against the bulkhead, with a mighty heave he tore the cover from the panel with the screech of tormented metal. Tossing the cover aside he began refamiliarizing himself with the layout of the circuitry. "I"m going to need you to route C-3 and C-5 to the N-13, and T-16." "Doctor you are aware that routing auxiliary power to the navigational transponder will most likely burn out the entirety of communications are you not? There is a ninety three percent chance." "I am aware of that." Holis snapped. "Do you want control of the ship or for it to end up like the Courageous?" Saleke declined to answer such an obvious question. "Someone is using a back door to enter our computer systems and is using them to destroy it. I don't have time to make a laser scalpel so I'll have to hack away with what I've got." Holis was still readying his decryption program as Saleke was realigning the control matrix, he held off on the last one as he waited for the scientist. "Got it!" Holis popped open the PADD and took the isolinear chip from it. "Are you ready? Once I initiate this it may take a moment for it to break the code and chances are it will only take them a few seconds to regain control. Just how they are doing this is unknown at this time but I'm going to have to take some of that time to isolate some critical systems before you finish initiating that short circuit, when I shout now! I want you to complete the circuit." There was the sound of startled cries across the bridge as panels were energized, throwing their operarors away from the controls. Saleke's and Holis' hands were both holding components and unengaged with the system. "Understood." [Auto destruct sequence has been initiated. 15 minutes before self destruct.] "Well we know how the Courageous was destroyed." Holis muttered and took a breath. "Here we go." He slapped the chip into an access slot and waited tensely as the program he had altered was initiated. (Reply: Mirror Maddox iyw) Minutes crawled by before the panel suddenly reenergized. "We're up Captain!" Holis jumped to the controls and was typing furiously in an instant. Saleke was on his back beneath the panel, the chip held steadily in his right hand and his eyes locked on the slot he would be engaging it in. "Doctor how much longer?" [Auto destruct in ten minutes.] "Almost there." A few more strokes. "Now!" Saleke slapped the crystal home then rolled as fast as he could from beneath the panel, there was an explosion of sparks as auxiliary power kicked in burning out communications and the navigational transponder with a tremendous feedback of electrical energy. NRPG: The backdoor has been completely severed with a surge of somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 thousand volts so Todd play Mirror Maddox how you want. Effects can range from a severe jolt but non-destructive to Mirror Maddox on the ISS all the way to having his consciousness isolated to the Furious' computer network and burned out when the back-door is closed along with the rest of communications. Strictly up to you. There was an instant as everyone on the bridge held their breath before the panels kicked back on, Cooper immediately set to rerouting auxiliary power around Holis' science console. [Auto destruct in five minutes.] "Computer disengage self-destruct by order of Saleke, Captain. Abort destruct order Gamma, seven, five, nine, *Alpha, 1*." NRPG: A Little inside joke. [Self destruct disengaged.] As Saleke was making his way back to the command chair the Omega lockout appeared flashing on all the monitors. He rushed to the OPS station and nudging Cooper aside overrid it. "I have confirmation on a weapons launch Captain." Tactical called. "Weapons systems are back on line." "Helm intercept course at best speed, tactical prepare to fire on that torpedo when we get within range." "Aye sir." Saleke hit his combadge. "Mr. Benoit," It was then he remembered that communincations were offline. He turned to a back-up officer standing by. "Go to the Science department and inform Ensign Benoit that the weapon has been launched." "Aye sir." McKittrick paused and asked, "Is that the Hebrew spelling with a 'Y'?" Benoit blinked, "No, it's a J." McKittrick nodded quickly, "Yes of course, J. Got it." Benoit contined, "The next sequence will command the shield to power up, but loop the command so that it will overload. Ready?" McKittrick replied, "Ready." Benoit then said, "1". Looks like we are cutting it awfully close." Benoit said. "We could wait another 4 minutes. You know, just to heighten the drama?" Dr. Falken suggested. Both Benoit and McKittrick turned and stared at the Doctor. "Hey, I was kidding. Firing phaser now." Falken engaged the phaser. Benoit tapped his comm badge. "What time do we have?" He asked. "3 minutes to activation of the shield, another 5 till we will be able to detect if this worked or not." Dr. Falken replied. Benoit nodded and then it suddenly occurred to him that he had had no communication from the Bridge in quite some time. He had opened a Comm link, but had not received a reply. "Are communications down?" Benoit asked. Both Doctors began tapping on their respective terminals. McKittrick spoke first. "Communications are out Ensign, we can't contact the Bridge." Benoit started running toward the lab door. "We better get to the bridge!" They got to the other side of the lab door, when they saw the unconscious body of a familiar looking Bridge Officer. He lay sprawled on the floor next to a large stand with an array of testing equipment. It was apparent it was involved in a collision with the officer, with the equipment coming out ahead in the fight. Benoit knelt and began to lightly slap the officer awake. "Wa...oh my head. Oh, Ensign, the omega device has been launched!" He said. "We know, we already launched a plan to stop it. Get up, we need to get to the Bridge." Benoit replied. "Wait, communications are down, you cannot talk to the Bridge." The officer said. Benoit nodded, and spoke very slowly, "I know, that's why we need to get to the Bridge." The officer got up and the 4 of them made their way to the Bridge. -- (Posted by Morgan Belcher) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious (Vigilant) - Aux. Bridge - TSCO, Ensign (SG) Andrus Williams- 1303) The battle seemed to come to a halt suddenly. The USS Rose had somehow disabled the ISS version. "Cease Fire" Andrus ordered. The Bolian paused a second and added "Keep target lock". His friend K'tar acknowledged "Aye Sir". "Ensign Jones, monitor the ISS Rosenante. Watch for any tricks" Andrus added. NRPG: I would like Fed to acknowledge the Omega weapon launch. I kid of figured with a skeletal crew he could do help/science? RPG: (reply: Fred iyw) The silence was deafening. Suddenly something was shot from the ISS Rose. "What is that?" Andrus hollered. "It appears to be some type of weapon heading toward the sun" replied Fred Jones. (reply Fred) Andrus didn;t know what to do for sure. His gut instinct was to race after it and try to stop it. "K'tar tell Captain Saleke" we heading after this weapon" Andrus ordered, having mad his mind up. "Aye Sir" and K'tar sent the message to the Furious. (reply: Captain Saleke) "Helm, plot an intercept course maximum speed" Andrus ordered. (REPLY: Fred iyw) His ship, the Vigilant trailed the weapon. Andrus felt a sense of despair beign to develop. Steven Matrix - Day 11- 1310) It had been nearly five days since the accident in engineering. It was a stark reminder of a similar accident on the Geneva many years prior. This time he was lucky, only minor burns compared to the plasma burns suffered on the Geneva, no broken bones and better treatment options. “Lieutenant please hold still. I need to examine your burns and assess how you’re healing.” said the EMH. The holograph pressed the hypo spray and administered a pain medicine into the Lieutenant’s neck. “Sorry doctor.” replied Matrix. “Doctor, how long do I have to endure this sling?” asked Matrix “As long as there is a chance you can pull your augmented skin grafts. I want you to wear this diamagnetic arm sling. It will keep you from pulling the grafts apart while you’re healing...the less you resist my treatments the faster you will heal lieutenant. You’re cut has healed nicely too. I’ll change out the bandage again tomorrow. The dermo-knitter did a nice job repairing the injury, but I always like to keep the wound covered for a few days. You’ll heal quicker and less risk of infection.” griped the EMH doctor. The EMH continued, “Now, you’re healing nicely, good color in your arm and neck...you’re lucky lieutenant...I wasn’t present on the Geneva when you had your previous injury. You’ll heal much quicker now with these new techniques.” “Thank you doctor, I’m grateful that you’re programmers have improved your abilities...but your bedside manner could use some augmentation as well. Perhaps you should see me in engineering in a few days and I’ll see what I can do about that.” responded Matrix. “I’ll ignore that Mister Matrix and just say thank you. Keep taking the dietary supplement I’ve prescribed and wear the diamagnetic sling for another 48 hours. Get plenty of rest. I’ll put in your file, no less than eight full hours of sleep. Limited duty for another day or two. I’ll be by tomorrow to check on your progress.” replied the EMH. “Thank you.” replied Matrix. The EMH dematerialized. Matrix sat at his desk and punched up the engineering consoles. He sat back in his chair, rubbed his arm and looked over the duty roster. It turned inward hard and fast, phaser and torpedo fire proceeding it as they tried to pound the Federation ship into submission. More explosions and jerks indicated direct hits. The Rosenante was groaning and shuddering under the harsh punishment that the heavy handed Imperial ship was dealing her. "Hold her steady, Mister Caskie." Ahmed ordered. His own ship returned fire, Phaser blasts and torpedoes were streaking between the two ship's like jabs being thrown between two heavyweight boxers. Hit's were being landed by both sides, the boxers were bloodied, but neither wanted to acquiesce the title match. Ahmed watched the near suicidal charge between the two ships as the distance between them closed and the hit's on both vessels was rising to a near fever pitch. "Closer you bastard." Ahmed swore as the ship's continued to close and even more consoles burst. "Closer....a little more." Then suddenly the Imperial ship was within range and Ahmed transmitted the codes. Almost immediately the ISS Rosenante's command consoles came on-line. "Got you!" he said in triumph. He quickly killed their shields, weapons, and engines. Then with a quick smile, Ahmed uploaded the omega Directive codes into the opposing ship's computer banks. Knowing that the Imperial fleet had no true omega protocols, meant that his alternate universe counterpart would not be able to clear the directive. All computer interfaces would be locked out without any hope of breaking the most effective encryption that the Federation had ever devised. The very weapon that they had employed here, would shut down every bit of command capability of their ship. They were helpless. "Mister Sullivan. Tractor the Rosenante, bring her to an all stop." (reply Sullivan) "Mister Caskie, Bring us to an all stop, notify the Furious that we have neutralized the Rosenante as a military threat to their mission. Then Take Sullivan and Smith and head to the transporter room, I need you to take control of that ship." (reply Caskie) Ahmed tapped his commbadge. "Salid to Raschen, Jackson, Rixx, and Lopez. Report to transporter room 1 for boarding actions. Commander Caskie will brief you on your arrival. Mister Raschen have additional security teams ready to transport over." (reply Rixx, Jackson, Raschen, Lopez) As the selected officers left the bridge, Ahmed tapped his commbadge again. "Salid to Nayati. How is everything down there?" NRPG: Morrow will have collapsed, but he is not dead. That will leave you to stabilize the warp core to the best of your ability Jim. (reply Nayati) Ahmed stepped around the chair and sat down heavily in the CONN position. His body ached and he was sick to his stomach from all the carnage. He tapped a few commands and brought an image of the Furious up on the screen, It was close to the device, but time was running out. For not the first time, Ahmed felt as if the outcome of things was once again outside his control. He had managed to neutralize the Mirror Universe vessel, but he had not yet made certain that it's crew were neutralized. Of course if Saleke could not stop the omega device, all of his actions and all of the crew that had died here would be in vain. The weapon would explode and in so doing, it would sterilize the entire star system and everyone in it. At least, the perpetrators wouldn't be able to escape either. She heard the Captain order her to hold the ship steady but Josh was far too busy keeping herself in her seat with her hands on the controls to even answer him. It was like looking into the face of Götterdämmerung with phaser discharges and torpedo explosions covering them in an avalanche of sound, light and fury. A year ago Josh might have simply buried her head in her hands and waited for the end. A year ago however Josh wasn't the First Officer so now she simply swallowed the lump in her throat and stared into Hell's Mouth, intent on sailing the Rose right down it's throat if that was what was needed. Josh was too busy holding the Rose steady to pay much attention to anything else that was going on around her, however the Captain's triumphant "Got you!" did catch her attention and as, suddenly all the weapons fire ceased from the other Rose she accessed the computer and smiled. Josh had assumed that when they uploaded the Command Codes that they would have to then at least disable of not kill the other ship. It was something that Josh had not been looking forward to, but never the less had known was necessary. Captain Salid had been far sneakier than that and had done something that only he could do, he had uploaded the Omega Protocol Codes and simply disabled the other ship leaving them dead in the water. "Mister Caskie, Bring us to an all stop, notify the Furious that we have neutralized the Rosenante as a military threat to their mission. Then take Sullivan and Smith and head to the transporter room, I need you to take control of that ship." "All stop sir." Josh brought the Rose to a stop finally. "Ops, open a channel to the Furious please." (Reply anyone on Ops iyw) Once the channel was open she smiled at the person on the screen. In fact, I bet that self-medicated cutie of a First Mate sitting next to you has a bigger set gonads than you do. What do you have to say Jenny, think you got a bigger set than your skipper here?” The distance between the two Rosenante’s closed quickly with fire coming from all sides. Jennifer simply sat there and smiled widely. =^=Why don't you come over and see Chance. You talk a good talk. Can you back it up with action or are you like a lot of people, all wind and no fire.=^= Before Raschen could respond he heard over the Federation starship’s intercom =^=Salid to Raschen, Jackson, Rixx, and Lopez report to transporter room 1 for boarding actions. Mister Raschen, have additional security teams ready to transport over. =^= Chance continued looking at the other Caskie on the viewer with a huge, self-satisfied smile on his face as he tapped Tom on the shoulder and jabbed his thumb toward the turbo-lift. He then winked, and blew a kiss toward the woman on the screen and said “I’ll be right over darlin’.” Then had Chin cut the connection before she could respond. He liked the feel of the ‘big chair’, but it still wasn’t HIS big chair. Getting up and heading toward the lift, right behind Jackson he ordered PO2 John Chin “Johnny, I want you and your team here to hack into their system and issue orders to their security forces. Spread them so thin that they can’t effectively engage us, but keep them on that ship. I don’t care if you have them posting guard at every head, galley, or Holodeck. Got it.?” “I’m on it! Now get out of here so we can get to work sir.” Raschen heard Chin yell back as the lift doors closed. He then tapped his comm.-badge “Boarding Platoon report to TR1 PDFQ. Formation will be held upon my arrival.” Raschen was glad that he enlisted Nunez’s help in organizing and training the boarding platoon. It was made up of 4 teams, and each team consisted of 15 members (1 officer, 2 senior NCOs, and an assortment of junior NCOs and crewmen). Combined with the support of the Cyber-Squad, Raschen felt pretty confident in his people’s success in attacking most any vessel. Unfortunately, the Imperial Rosenante wasn’t just any ship. Chance then turned to Tom and asked with a snicker “You think I should let the ol’ man know that I acknowledged his orders?” (Reply Jackson) (Reply Jackson) Posted by Charlie Raschen --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 1325) Captain Salid entered the command codes as the ISS Rosenante finally made it in range. A few quick commands and the enemy vessel was dead in the water, however her inertia still carried her forward on her last heading. "Mister Sullivan. Tractor the Rosenante, bring her to an all stop." "Aye, tractoring now." she said and blue gravitons pulsed out from the Federation star ship. Going at full impulse, T'Larah knew if she applied the tractor too forcefully, she could severly damage the structural interity of the other Rosenante, so she applied the tractor strength gradually to avoid gravimetric shear. "ISS vessel at all stop." she reported once the vessel stopped. "Mister Caskie, Bring us to an all stop, notify the Furious that we have neutralized the Rosenante as a military threat to their mission. Then Take Sullivan and Smith and head to the transporter room, I need you to take control of that ship." The Captain ordered. Commander Caskie then coordinated with OPS and the Furious informing them of the new eventualities of their celestial combat. T'Larah arranged for her station's relief. A young midshipman came to take her station. "Sullivan, Smith, you heard the Captain, you are with me. Let's stop at the nearest armoury and then head to Transporter One." The group entered the Turbolift, one after the other. "Armoury." she ordered as the lift doors closed. (Reply Cmdr. He quickly handed Ops over to his relief and hurried after them.   (USS Rosenante – Transporter room – aCOPS – Ensign Smith- 1338) Robert entered the transporter room with the others. He glanced around at the others as they moved towards the transporter pad.   ~Marine. I thought they were all gone when Kenneth transferred off ship. In EVO/C armor too defiantly some on to keep between you and the enemy~   He had taken a small type one and a type two phaser. He had not wanted to go all tooled up with weapons. He was a teck nerd not a warrior and because of this he had taken a small folding PADD which was attached to his wrist. His brother had called it a ‘wireless weasel’ which would let him jack into the ships computer and had given it to him before he left. Since then Robert had been tinkering with it with the armourer trying to make it more efficient and combat survivable.  He had never thought that he would actually use it. Robert looked at Caskie  as she began her briefing . "Ok boys and girls we are beaming over to the other Rosenante and we will be taking control of their ship.  I would prefer to do this without bloodshed however I'm pretty sure our counterparts haven't even heard of the Geneva Convention let alone Starfleet Rules of Engagement so I want all of you to be particularly vigilant whilst we are over there."   ~From the way they have been up to now. It looks like the Geneva Convention or the Starfleet Rules of Engagement has gone right out the window~   "Now here is what I suggest.  Mr Raschen I suggest you split security detail into five separate teams.  Bridge, Engineering, Security, Computer Core and Sickbay.  The Bridge team will be accompanying myself and Jackson.  Once we have taken control of the Bridge I will contact our Captain.  Engineering Team will accompany Rixx and secure that area.  Mr Rixx please make sure that the engines are shut down and that no-one can initiate a warp core breach.  The Computer Core team will accompany Cmdr Sullivan.  Commander I would like for your team to secure the computer core and make sure that it cannot be used as a means of attacking us.  Once that is done then feel free to join me on the Bridge.  The sickbay team will accompany Dr Lopez and secure that area.  Doctor please make sure that their Sickbay is unable to release anything into the ship's atmosphere that would compromise our takeover.  It also might be wise to deactivate the ship's EMH if they have one.  I'd rather not have him sneak up behind us.  I would also suggest that you initiate a lock down of their drug supply and restrict it on an as needed basis with you monitoring the distribution.  Allow the staff to carry on treating any wounded personnel as and when necessary."    "As for Security, I want a team to take that area and act somewhat as a Command post.  Mr Raschen you have a far better knowledge of security than I do and I would welcome your input on it and also the rest of my plan.  I would also prefer you decided on what teams you think appropriate for yourself and Mr Nunez."   (Reply Chance, all)   "Very well then, agreed.  The bridge team will take their places please.  Mr Dawson, prepare to transport us over on my mark.  Then the Engineering, Security, Computer and Sickbay teams in that order.  Phaser out and on stun.  Now Mr Dawson."   His brother lived for things like this Robert thought. Boarding an enemy ship during combat it was what he joined the marines for. Robert on the other hand preferred his fighting through software and circuitry. Paul Bird (MU) & Crewwoman Caroline Winters (MU)- Day 11- 1330.5) Caroline addressed a power variance fluctuation between the synched drives just as it was beginning to replicate itself. Immediately she began tracking back the problem to an overloaded circuit on Deck 5. She sighed heavily. She knew that they had been taking small amounts of return fire from vessels for a while. You would of had to be permanently stationed in the morgue not to know. She had gotten used to the repetitive shaking of the ship as it reacted to the blasts against the shields. Nothing major had breached them, thus far but some of the more delicate systems had decided they didn't like the treatment. Damage control teams were already spread throughout the ship in an effort to be on site as quickly as possible should they be needed. Normally Ensign Rixx took care of the Damage control Team assignments, but word was that she was working on a special project for the captain and that had left Lieutenant Bird to monitor the teams. The thought of actually speaking to the man nauseated her. To avoid the possibility of contact with him, she did the only other thing she could think of. "Winters to Damage Control 1" She said, tapping the badge on her chest before quickly returning her hand to the console. =/\=Go ahead, what have you got?=/\= came the reply "Deck 5, we have an overloaded circuit. I'm going to cut the power to it but we need to get it back into operation because we have the secondary life support for that deck running thru that system." She didn't feel a need to elaborate on the possibility of needing the secondary life support operational. =/\=I'll send V'shen and Talbix. The rest of us are working on keeping the tactical sensor array in communication with the bridge.=/\= Caroline took a deep calming breath and returned her attention to maintaining the power flow that operations was allocating almost as quickly as she updated them. "Understood, Winters out." She didn't worry that Bird would find some fault in her choice of actions. In that regards, she knew there wasn't an 'if' so much as a 'when'. Her hands started to shake on the console and she quickly grabbed it's edges to steady herself. ~Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.~ she repeated in her head, her breathing becoming somewhat labored. She took another deep breath and focused her eyes back on the numbers scrolling across her screen. With any luck, she kept reminding herself, the First Officer would see her request for transfer to operations and accept it. She'd never prayed so hard for anything in her life. The situation in main engineering was best described as coordinated chaos. To the untrained eye, the engineers looked to be disorganized as the shuttled from station to station and console to console. Paul stood at the master station, watching the activity as it spread around him. It had been a long time since he'd been required to actually coordinate any real engineering activities. Of course he was qualified to do so, he just preferred not to. That was one of the reasons that he had chosen Rixx as his second of the department. The Bolian was good as a hands-on engineer, but she was even better at paperwork. Requisitions, reports, and duty schedules were fairly routine and something that Paul decidedly despised doing. He had earned his department head status the hard way and now that he was here, there was no chance that he was going to do any of the mundane activities that running a department normally entailed. He reveled in the power that the position had provided him. He had his choice of women from the department to fulfill his desires. He had the authority to dictate whether they lived, died or were punished and he had the captain's immediate protection. As long as the department did its job the Captain didn't seem to care too much about what happened in Engineering. With Rixx away working on the captain's special project, which irked Paul to no end, he was responsible to coordinate the damage control teams. It was never something he was particularly good at. There was a certain skill to it, and he was a much more skilled developmental engineer. Damage control was a boring and hazardous occupational hazard. One that he preferred to avoid if at all possible. As he was watching the display, he noted some of the members of one of the Damage control teams changing positions. He was about to contact them and chew them out, promising punishment, but then a thought struck him. He tapped a request into the master display and a moment later he saw that reason that they were shifting. There in brilliant gold letters was the record of their reassignment. It seems that Crewman Winters had overstepped her boundaries and reallocated part of the team to handle a different problem. Paul's irritation mounted. It was one thing to be a poor engineer. It was another thing entirely to overstep her bounds. Paul's anger with the cocky little blonde was at the breaking point. The fact that the purple bruise on her left cheek hadn't convinced her of her need to obey him completely sent him over the edge. With a huff, he stepped away from the master display and stalked across the main Engineering bay towards her. His long experience in battles, keeping him on his feet even as the ship shook wildly beneath his feet. She either didn't see him coming, or she was trying to ignore him. Either way, Paul wasn't happy with her and so when he reached her, he reached out and grabbed her by the wrist and spun her towards him with a terrible force. She spun, a look of surprised shock on her face. Paul raised his right hand and with a powerful back hand landed a blow across the left side of her face. She staggered backwards under the blow and stopped only when she bumped against the console. "How dare you impede on my authority!" he bellowed at her. The tone of his voice almost mimicking the jarring booms and rattles of the battle reverberating around him. He struck her again, this time splitting her lip and drawing a streak of red blood across her chin. Caroline opened her mouth to try to speak and try to defend herself, but closed it again as she realized that she wasn't even sure what had provoked this attack. Most likely it was that crew reassignment that she'd just authorized, but if it wasn't and she spoke up she'd be in twice as much trouble for two perceived infractions. She brought her hand up to her throbbing lip and could feel the blood flowing down her chin. Her stomach lurched. She wasn't entirely sure what to do. She'd tried acting weak and that had only provoked him to torture. She'd tried acting strong and that had only angered him. Nothing had seemed to help. He was a bully and how he'd ever managed to rise to his station on a ship like this was beyond her. "I...I'd ne..." her voice caught and her eyes welled up with fear inspired tears, "never do-do-do that." She managed to finally stammer out. Now Paul's anger had the better of him. Before he had only been angry, now he was enraged. There was nothing worse than a liar in his opinion and liars needed to be punished. He grabbed her by the uniform collar and pushed her back against the console with his left hand. His right was already arching towards her cheek and landed with a thick thwack that was audible even over the shaking of the ship. "Don't you lie to me!" he bellowed. "Don't you EVER lie to me again!" He thought about cuffing her again, to remind her that she was really nothing more than property. But the rhythmic thud of combat stayed his hand better than any bodyguard could have done. His eyes still wild with anger, he chose instead to reach out and take a handful of her long blonde hair and yanked her forward away from the console and onto the deck. He turned to look back at the console and he started to adjust the power allocations back to the way he thought they should be. Paul hadn't been monitoring the smaller details of the battle, things like blown power junctions, plasma bleed off and re-rerouting. That slight oversight would soon cost him more than he realized. The reasons that Caroline had been altering the power allocations was entirely because she HAD been paying attention to those smaller details. Paul restoration of the flow of power to a damaged and bleeding conduit set off a chain of events that cascaded out of control so rapidly that he had no chance to even realize that he was in danger. In a moment, power rushed back into the damaged conduit causing it to explosively overload. That blast caused a second and third relay to overload as well and the resulting concussive force rushed up the length of the small maintenance crawlspace searching for the one place that it could escape and unleash its massive potential energy. That point was the emergency access port on the second level. The port hatch was almost 7 inches of solid duranium/tritanium composite. It was nearly a meter-and-a-half in diameter and weighed close to 1200 pounds. Normally it could have handled the stress and pressure caused by the impact, but the damage dealt to the warp nacelle pylon base earlier in the battle had also damaged the sealing mechanism when the pylon deformed. That hatch now failed. The hatch snapped open with enough force to sheer the reinforced hinges, which had also been damaged earlier in the battle. It flew across the room, hurling it's massive weight against the force field that protected the dual warp cores, rebounded and bounced off the floor. The hatch caught Bird just above the knees. The impact transferred the still formidable force of the explosion through his upper legs, snapping the bones it found there and forced him backwards into the console, which crushed only enough to trap him between the heavier hatch and its own sputtering remains. Paul let out a primal scream of total agony as the door slammed into him and pinned him against the console where he had just been working. He was forced forward face down on the top edge of the display, his legs forced into the polylaminate material that a moment ago had been nearly pristine. He could feel the blood running down his lower leg as they throbbed with the force of his own terrified heartbeat. He tried to right himself in vain, the muscles refusing to budge the massive weight of the hatch that pinned him in place. ~Like a butterfly pinned to a page of an old scrapbook~ he thought oddly coherently through the haze of agony that he was experiencing. "Hellpp...help me." he said weakly, not really listening to his words, or for that matter thinking coherently about what he was saying. "Caroline. You have to..." Caroline had stayed on the deck where she'd been thrown. She hadn't dared to get up or to even move for that matter. She'd done that once and he'd kicked her, cracking two of her ribs. She stared at the man who had tortured her so many times and in so many ways. Stared at him long and hard as the realization came to her that for a change he was begging her for something. Slowly she came to her feet and stood over him. It was obvious that without quick assistance he would die from the amount of blood he was losing. In that instant, she didn't feel like doing anything quickly. "No." She said finally. "No, I don't have to." Her voice was cracked with emotion and she could hardly believe her own ears. "I don't have to and I'm not going to." Caroline said venomously. Admittedly, she thought, that it sounded childish. But she couldn't help herself. The hatred of the man swelled to the forefront of her mind. "And you know what else?" She waited half a second and cut him off before he could respond. "No one else is going to help you either." She said, her voice becoming just as loud as his had been just moments before when he'd been striking her. She wanted everyone in the compartment to hear her. She heard him gasping. She could understand his pain, but she didn't care anymore. How many times had he put her in the same situation. How many times in the past week even. She didn't care anymore. Glancing around the room, she saw what she was looking for and took the three long strides across the room to claim it. Her fingers curled around the long handled spanner testing its weight in her hands. "Don't worry. You won't have to worry about liars or people who don't acknowledge your power." she said with a snarl. "Ever again." She slid the long handle of the spanner under the edge of the top bolt on the heavy hatch plate. With a twist of the upper bolt the whole thing shifted as the dual layer hatch began to split. The top began to sag toward the trapped chief engineer, who realizing what was happening began to plead. "Caroline... don't please don't...I....I'm sorry. I'll promote you....I'll do whatever you want..." His voice was desperate and filled with terror. She nonchalantly swept the spanner around the hatches bulk, tracing it's edge with the tang of the tool and slid the spanner under the second bolt. As simple as that, the two plates that made up the door separated. The top half of the hatch, already at a threatening angle and no longer fettered by the restraining bolt, folded in half. even this half of the hatch was massive and more than heavy enough to crush a man. The sickening crunch of breaking bones followed by the slow wheezing of the chief engineer as he struggled for breath under the massive weight now pinning him to the top of the console didn't last long. Within a matter of moments the abusive Chief Engineer Lieutenant Paul Bird was dead, killed by the woman that could no longer abide by his abuse. A fitting end for a fiend. A few officers and crew had stopped to observe the exchange between the battered crewman and the now dead chief. As silently as they had stood by as she had been abused, they turned and went back to the work of maintaining the ship's systems. It was more than apparent. Not a single one of them would miss Paul Bird. Caroline felt suddenly at the peace with herself. Without so much as a glance over her shoulder, she turned and walked over to the next nearest console. Another crewman standing there glanced up at her before taking a step back. “I’m going to need to reset this console for power monitoring. The other console is damaged.” She said without a hint of remorse. (reply none) (written by Ruby and Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 1333) T'Larah had made haste and made a very abbreviated trip to the Armory, taking a type III compression phaser rifle, a type II holstered to her belt and a pair of duranium/tritanium collapsible batons. As she walked into the transporter room she had just finished placing the weapons on the appropriate holsters on her belt. She took the rifle from the sling on her shoulder and using precise drill movements went from sling arms to port arms and then low ready. It seemed she was the first to arrive for the boarding party. "Ensign Dawson, I assume you have word from the bridge, we are beaming a boarding party on the mirror Rosenante to gain control of her?" (Reply Ensign Dawson) The remainder of the security detail showed up lead by Ensign Smith, Lieutenant Raschen and Commander Caskie. She took note and listened for a moment as the lull seemed to go on. ~Did we win? Did they win?~ She thought anxiously. She pressed the Damage control teams for status updates and waited for the information to be transmitted. =/\=Salid to Raschen, Jackson, Rixx, and Lopez. Report to transporter room 1 for boarding actions. Commander Caskie will brief you on your arrival. Mister Raschen have additional security teams ready to transport over.=/\= came the captain's order. =/\= Yes, Sir. On my way there now.=/\= She replied. She rushed down the corridor noting damage as she went. There was some minor structural damage and areas that she could tell showed signs of circuitry failures. As though it would help matters, she made a face and narrowed her eyes at the 'offenses' as she passed. She slipped into the transporter room. From one of the lockers she checked out yet another engineering kit and took a spot next to the padd as she waited for the first officer to arrive for the briefing. Mitena only had to wait a few moments. With a calm tone, the First officer delivered their objectives. ~Engines shut down. No warp core breach. got it.~ She thought as she made a short nod in affirmation. "... I would also prefer you decided on what teams you think appropriate for yourself and Mr Nunez." the First Officer concluded. "Sir, with your permission I'd really like to have a second set of hands on this in case there is damage or their configuration is different than expected." NRPG: Going to assume that the FO (being the awesome person that she is) will approve the request. RPG: Mitena nodded and tapped her comm badge. "Rixx to Crewman Winters. I need your assistance in Transporter Room 1. Bring a full engineering kit." =/\=I'm just down the corridor. I'll be there momentarily.=/\= As she had said she would be, Carolyn Winters came into the transporter room just a minute later. "The ruptures on Deck 8 and 9 are completely contained. They are working on Deck 10 now." Carolyn said, immediately launching into a status update for the repairs she'd been assigned. "What do we have going on here?" Winters said, her voice trailing as she looked around at the assembled security teams and personnel. "I'm guessing that we aren't working on something?" "We are transporting over to the other Rosenante." Mitena said, trying to sound as calm and concise as Commander Caskie had been when she'd given her briefing. "Our task will be to shut down the engines and take the warp core off line." She noted the look of worry that crossed the crewman's face and quickly continued. "We'll have a security detail with us." She smiled. "We go in just after the team that is taking the bridge." "You think that their Main Engineering is laid out like ours?" Carolyn asked. "I hope it is, but it may not be. All speculation until we transport over." Her group took its place on the transporter pad once the First Officer's bridge team had vacated and waited their turn. Luckily the wait wasn't long enough to leave time for worry. A flash later they materialized in a somewhat familiar engineering bay. Some things were glaringly different, but others were entirely too similar. She looked at the engineers that were looking back at them and it took her a moment to move. The faces were the same as officers she worked with day in and day out. If it wasn't for the uniforms, she wasn't sure she would know the difference. NRPG: Not sure which/who is accompanying the Crewman and I to engineering - so I'm leaving off here until that is posted. She looked as if she could take on a battalion of Klingon Elite Guard and Dawson almost blanched at the thought of her being upset with him. "Ensign Dawson, I assume you have word from the bridge, we are beaming a boarding party on the mirror Rosenante to gain control of her?" "Aye, sir. Just got the word a few moments ago. (reply Sullivan any on away team) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - ATRADOC - Ensign Marta Nunez -Day 11-1336) Marta hurried down the corridor in her marine EVO/C armor. It was a relic left over from her days as a marine communications specialist. Once a Marine was fitted to their armor, it stayed with them through their careers. In this case her transfer from the corp to the fleet had not stripped it from her, and so she stored her fully functional assault BDU in her specially designed weapons locker in her quarters. Now that armor would be a benefit for her and the boarding team. And while she knew that she would be the only individual wearing such gear, that didn't mean that the enemy didn't have something similar. Of course if they did there would be a very rough time taking that ship. NRPG: Before anyone gets any wise ideas, they do not. Only Marta has this particular set of equipment and only the federation version. RPG: Marta activated her HUD, and brought Immaculate online. "Hello Mac, how you doing?" she asked the limited combat AI embedded into the combat armor. [As well as can be expected Nun.] He replied with a spicy tone of voice. [What are our mission parameters?] "Boarding operation. Call up all deck plans for the Rosenante class starship and mark critical security strong points and critical capture areas. Also, once we've beamed over start using that incredible brain of yours to start isolating their comm. frequencies so I can monitor and direct traffic to non-marine personnel." Marta replied. [Did you say non-marine?] the AI replied with a question. "Yes non-marine." [Where may I ask are the other members of the squad?] "It's a long story Mac, let's just say that we're the only marine in the operational zone for this run. We will be providing very heavy support for Standard fleet security forces during a boarding operation." If the computer could have paused to consider it's next response, it probably would have, but Nun knew well enough to know that Mac was busy considering options and working out assault models taking into account the data that she had already provided. The AI for the combat BDUs was almost scary when it started breaking down human lives into the lowest common denominator. She shifted the Angel mark II rifle from her left to her right hand and stepped into the transporter room. It was time for action, and to convince the away team commander that she should be allowed on the mission, armor and all. "Sir, I must ask you to surrender this vessel to me. Your crew will not be harmed and will be treated well and in accord with Federation rules. However, should you, or indeed any of your crew attempt to resist then I cannot guarantee their safety." Given the amount of mayhem and destruction this one ship had caused Josh thought that statement utterly stupid to be honest, but she was obliged by law to offer it. Tom, while quiet most times, usually wou,ld chat with his crew mates. Not this time though. It was almost as if he felt this was a one way trip for him. This was not like himself. Tom hoped the Rose's were similar - that would make his tasks easier. Tom made sure his weapons were ready should they be needed. Josh ordered bridge Assault team on the transporter's pads. Jackson's stomach knotted and he was sweating profusely. Their Rose disappeared and it was replaced by a near mirror image of the Rose - somewhat less esthetically pleasing than his home. Tom readied his weapon and kept his eyes moving constantly - looking for signs of trouble. Josh spoke to a more malevolent version of their Captain Salid.
