"I couldn't help notice, the three most beautiful women in this lounge." Ever observant, Fred had just spoken to the only women in the lounge. The three ladies looked perplexed as an uncomfortable pause settled on the group until K'tar spoke up. "I'm K'tar" the tall Klingon blurted out in usual blunt manner. The three ladies looked up and smiled. They looked a bit relieved that the tension had been broken. "Won't you join us?" The trill woman asked. The Ferengi ran over and pushed two tables together, and everyone sat down. Fred smiled. "So, you girls got boyfriends, or what?" He said, rather abruptly. The three female officers looked stunned. Fred went on to the married one asking her this and that and finally making her unresponsive. Sakon looked to the last of the officers who was also a human female, but stayed quite to the fact that he was getting married next leave. So as any Vulcan he stayed emotionally detached from this conversation.~a logical action for me~ (Reply by any at table) (posted by shawn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Lounge- SO, Ensign K'tar - Day 5 -2306) K'tar's brashness had broken the awkward moment's tension. Fred addressed the three female officers in his usual 'suave' manner. AS the ladies were speaking, K'tar eyed the Trill officer. She had red hair, was small and petite. The contrast with Klingon females was quite striking. K'tar, for some reason, found the Trill attractive. Looking at her he asked "What is your name Ensign?". She smiled shyly at the Klingon sitting across from her and replied "Myra". K'tar actually smiled a nice, warm smile - something his crew mates had never seen and replied "Hello Myra". The chatter flowed easily as the the six people slowly got to know each other. Steven Matrix - Day 7- 0308) Matrix and some of the engineering teams had been working for hours in an attempt to resolve the weapons deployment bug that surfaced during repairs. Matrix, Ensign West and some of the key technical teams were troubleshooting the activation malfunction. "I think its pretty obvious that the problem is the power regulator feeding the guidance relay to the phaser input conduit, do you agree Ensign?" asked Matrix. "I do sir, during our last phaser test the power systems showed an increase in both heat and power distribution wasn't within standard norms. The power regulator is overheating and causing the system to shutdown prematurely." replied Ensign West. "Right and if you look at these power readings, phaser efficiency drops over 92 percent on the dorsal array...the junction at G134 simply shorted out, but not enough to completely kill the circuit. The power generated by the dorsal array wouldn't be more than a throwing a rock at another ship." noted Matrix. "Where is all the energy going then Lieutenant? Its not be distributed out the phaser bank and we're not seeing any excessive heat signatures within the ship...or at least the sensors haven't alerted us to any." replied West. "That's what worries me Ensign...that energy has to have gone somewhere." Matrix picked up a tricorder and scanned the conduit panels in that section while Ensign West continued to monitor the diagnostic display on the phaser control network in the aft station. "Matrix to bridge. We need to run another series of phaser tests on the dorsal phaser array. I would like another series of phaser bursts at 50%, 80% and 100% at a null target." (Reply anyone on the bridge) "Excellent, give us a few minutes here to setup the diagnostic scans and signal when you're ready with the targeting sequence. Matrix out." "Crewman Brass, please get back up to main engineering and get me a new power coupler for the PES phase coil...you might also replicate a new power conduit just in case. Everyone else, thank you for your help...its been a long day so call it a day. I think the Ensign and I can handle it from here. Go get some rest. "Aye sir, I'll get back here with those as soon as possible." replied Brass. Crewman Brass and the rest of the engineering teams left phaser control. The bridge signaled they had a null target selected and were ready for another round of phaser testing. "Excellent...ready Ensign?" asked Matrix. "Aye sir, phaser coils are charging...all systems nominal." replied West. Phaser control confirmed that the first percentage test was well within operational norms. The 80% of max power confirmed the PES power coupler was indeed the problem. "Matrix to Bridge, hold off on that max power test until I reply. We need to swap out the PES coupler." said Matrix. (Reply anyone on the bridge) At that time crewman Brass returned to phaser control and delivered the new power coupler and auxiliary power conduit. "Thank you mister Brass....call it a night...I'll tag third shift if we need anything else...thanks for your help, nice work." said Matrix. "Thank you sir, I appreciate the input." replied Crewman Brass. ~Nice kid...I need to put him in for a step promotion.~ Matrix turned back to the panel G134 they had been inspecting. "Okay Ensign, I think we can pull this conduit out and put in the new one." said Matrix. "Sir don't open that panel!" yelled Ensign West. A brilliant flash of light followed by a storm of sparks and pieces of equipment rained down on the two men. Ensign West immediately turned away from the panel, trying to protect himself from the eruption of energy coming out of the panel. The main power feeds into phaser control was shorted out causing the lighting and environmental controls to fail. The emergency lighting system flickered on while an audible alarm filled the deck area. The smoke caused by the explosion made it difficult to ascertain damage, nor what injuries Lieutenant Matrix had sustained. "LEUTENIANT!, LEUTENIANT! Are you hurt!?...LEUTENIANT MATRIX!" yelled Ensign Brass. Ensign West tapped his commbadge, "Medical emergency to phaser control!" said Ensign West. "We've had a power conduit explode in front of Lieutenant Matrix. I don't know his condition! He's unconscious and bleeding." She rubbed her blurry eyes ~The morning comes far too early~ She called out “Computer, please play “Coke for Clowns- Takin it back” The steady beat of synthesized music thrummed across the cabin, as the young doctor preformed her ablutions. The music continued to play as eat breakfast, she was not quite sure of its origins, some sort of electro-postmodern grunge country funk or retro-country acid house or as her father put it; noise pollution or a waste of perfectly good entropy ( she was still not sure what that meant ). The doctor left the cabin in a reasonability good mood and headed to sick bay. (USS Rosenante- Sickbay 1 – Ens Kimiko Ichijo - Day 8- 0755) When she got to sick bay she looked over the orders and the shift notes, it looked like Lopez had already made serious inroads into setting up the overflow. Supplies had been requisitioned and the staff was on condition yellow denoting a heightened state of readiness even though the rest of the ship was still running green meaning all staff was on call should hostilities develop. Should that happen of course the whole ship would go to red alert. Those that were off duty had been given their duty assignments in such an event and would saturate the medical areas. "Very good nurse Wheeler, you have gone through emergency contingency orders I assume." Lloyd looked up from the PADD with the orders as the ranking medical officer in the Vengeful's medical ward answered, something had jarred his concentration ... almost like a shiver from the bowels of the ship that was out of line with normal operations. His gut began rolling in response even before the red alert lamp began to pulse and the alarm to blare. =^= Doctor everything is ... What was that?=^= "You felt it too?" He jumped up as the ship went to alert status. "Damn!" He had forgotten the comlink was still open. =^= Doctor what...?=^= =^= Medical team to the bridge. Repeat medical team to the bridge STAT!=^= "Go to condition red in all wards!" He yelled after tapping his combadge again even though he knew they would be springing into action. He almost ran the few steps to the door as he absently tossed the PADD to the desk, it skidded to a stop on the edge and rocked precariously as the door slid shut behind him. "Nurse Wheeler with me!" He bellowed as he entered main sickbay while tapping his combadge again. "Get me a gurney crew to the bridge!" The nurse rounded a corner and almost bowled him over as he reached the main door to deck 10. She had snatched up a bag and he had his pouch containing his primary medical scanner and hypo so they were covered for most contingencies. He didn't say a word until they were in the turbolift. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious, Ready Room, CTSO, Ensign (SG) Andrus Williams  Day 9, 0210) Andrus was kneeling beside Captain Saleke, tending to his wounds. The Captain told Andrus "Thank you Mr. Williams." Andrus tidied up the wounds and replied "No problem Sir". The CMO Dr. Stantion use his override authority to enter sick bay. As the CMO approached the Captain Andrus ordered "Seal this room". and the door swooshed closed again. Dr Stanton knelled down on the captain;s other side and began to check the boss over. "Thank you Andrus I'll take over from here." He said as he knelt down at the Captains left side with the scanner in his hand and began to run it over him as Nurse Wheeler tenderly took the bandage from the Bolians hand and began exerting a slight pressure on it as she opened the medical bag with her other hand and took out a plasma sealer. He saw her give the give the Bolian a smile and a nod as she did so. "Good work Mr. Williams" the CMO directed to Andrus. "No problem, glad I paid attention in the Combat Medic class at SF Academy" and stepped clear to allow the Dr and nurse to get to work. The CMO and Vulcan captain were in a discussion that t seemed tense to Andrus. The Captain ordered "So that the saboteur will think me dead, it will put her off guard for my counter move." Saleke said when the doctor wanted to move him to Sick Bay Saleke turned to Andrus. "She will try to destroy the ship, the logical timing will be as we exit the warp conduit. I want to know who has had access to the shuttles since we left Hexicor Prime with strict attention paid to any senior officers and especially any vessel they might have spent time in. When she makes that move we are going to be ready for her." Nodding very seriously Andrus made mental note mote what had been ordered. He left the Ready Room and walked to his console. He st down and quickly tapped some commands using his security code to encrypt the data he wanted to review. It waist long before Williams had an answer. It puzzled him and his brow furrowed even deeper. He rose, monitored for a Security Officer to take his place and began to re-enter the Ready Room. Someone shouted" How's the Captain Ensign?". In keeping with the fiction Captain Saleke wanted to use, replied "The Captain is dead" and walked briskly back to the Ready room. He waited for the chance to speak. "What are your findings Mr. Williams?" The Captain asked levelly as Andrus approached. "sir, it appears Lt. McAdams, our OPS Chief, has visited the shuttle bay very frequently I'm the last few days" he replied evenly. Saleke seemed unsurprised by the finding. "Gather your security team and meet me at the Runabout in five minutes, I will be beaming there directly." The vulcan was tapping his combadge as Andrus quickly left the room. He had Jones and Sakon Secure the Ready Room door and headed to his team. Hurrying to the turbo-lift , he tapped his comm badge "K'tar, Sakon meet me in the shuttle bay asap - come armed- Andrus out" and re-tapped the badge to closed the link. (reply: K'tar, Sakon) (posted by: Bill ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious, Ready Room, CMO, Dr. Lloyd Stanton and CO, Captain Saleke Day 9, 0212) "The Captain's Ready Room doctor!" Was shouted as he stepped out of the lift so he turned left without looking around, the brunette nurse right behind him, he found the door sealed though as he reached it and nearly walked into it. "Emergency Medical override, CMO Stanton. Open up now dammit!" He could have called the FO but why bother, besides time was always against you in an emergency case and the fact it was in the Captain's office sent shivers down his spine. The door retracted and he stepped through into heck, not as bad as hell but real close. The tactical chief was tending to Saleke as he sat on the floor with Commander Sloane hovering nearby. The desk to the right of the door was a smoking ruin though this side looked to be intact. The top however was almost completely missing except for a few jagged edges. The acrid taste of smoke from an explosive was still in the air though the environmental systems had sucked out most of the smoke. He heard the Captain speaking calmly as he hurried up. "Thank you Mr. Williams." The vulcan was a mess at first sight with small pieces of shrapnel primarily in his left cheek though it appeared Andrus had removed them from his right as there were trickles of green blood oozing from small puncture wounds. The tactical officer was staunching those with a bandage. Williams." (Reply: Andrus) Lloyd whistled as he ran the scanner from the Vulcans head down to his shoulders. "Took quite a whallop there Captain." The vulcan didn't nod so as not to disturb the nurse at work as he answered. "When the desk exploded it hurled me several feet." His face was showing some stress and the readings showed a high level of endorphins. "How is your pain level?" "Growing as the shock is wearing off." He replied. A pain reliever would be appreciated." Lloyd raised an eyebrow as he looked at the mans face, for a vulcan to repuest that meant it was truly excruciating, normally they went into a healing trance which allowed them to block out the pain completely as their bodies healed since it concentrated their considerable mental disciplines. "Where?" "Primarily my right arm." Lloyd moved the scanner from his stomach to his right arm in reply and starting at the hand examined it closely all the way up to his shoulder. "Some torn ligaments in your elbow and shoulder along with contusions. There's going to be some bruising but it should heal quickly with treatment. Nurse give the Captain an analgesic compound, 30 cc's." "Yes doctor." She took a hypo and dialed it up as he completed the examination. She pressed it to Saleke's neck and it hissed as it delivered its contents. "Your primary injuries apear to be to your face and arm though you are going to have some bruising to your hips and back as well, no neurological or spinal damage I can see but I want to examine you in sickbay immediately." "No doctor." Lloyd tood to his feet with a reddening face and moved as Nurse Wheeler took his spot and began removing the bits of desk from the vulcans left cheek. "What do you mean no?" He rounded on Erin. "What's going on here anyway?" (Reply: Erin) "I don't give a damn! No patient, even the captain is going to tell me no to an examination when he might have debilitating injuries!" (Reply: Any) "Doctor you will report to medical that I was killed in the explosion." Saleke stated flatly. "What?" Lloyd rounded on him. "What the hell for?" "So that the saboteur will think me dead, it will put her off guard for my counter move." Saleke turned to Andrus. "She will try to destroy the ship, the logical timing will be as we exit the warp conduit. I want to know who has had access to the shuttles since we left Hexicor Prime with strict attention paid to any senior officers and especially any vessel they might have spent time in. When she makes that move we are going to be ready for her." (Reply: Andrus) "What?" Lloyd shook his head. "You're way beyond me here." "And beyond her as well if we move quickly and you do as I say." The Captain replied. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious, Ready Room, CMO, Dr. Lloyd Stanton and CO, Captain Saleke Day 9, 0240) As they waited for the Bolian to return to continue his 'examination' of the scene Lloyd couldn't help but ask. "Where were you when the desk exploded Captain?" Saleke was sitting in the sofa across the room from the mangled desk, he looked at the CMO as he answered. "I was standing on this side of the desk within two feet." "Impossible!" The man was incredulous. "You have no burns from the flash, not even a singed hair." "No dcotor, merely unlikely." Saleke picked up the blue, fist-sized crystal that had been set beside him. It was cooling rapidly, having been quite warm and pulsing with energy when he had first picked it up. Now however the radiant energy in it had subsided as well. "I owe my life to a gift from a friend." That puzzled Doctor Stanton and he shrugged, Nurse Wheeler was confined to the Ready Room as well and was sitting in a chair by the door. The Captain's face had been mended and his pain level was down. The Bolian stepped into the Ready room as Lloyd tapped his foot impatiently, Saleke's injuries had been tended to and the wounds on his face closed, the analgesic was continuing to work as he sat in the chair with no sign of stress. Nurse Stanton was there as well. Commander Sloane was tending to the bridge to keep up with the Captain's charade. Lloyd had reported the Captains demise as ordered. "What are your findings Mr. Williams?" The Captain asked levelly as Andrus approached. (Reply: Andrus) Saleke seemed unsurprised by the finding. "Gather your security team and meet me at the Runabout in five minutes, I will be beaming there directly." The vulcan was tapping his combadge as Andrus quickly left the room. (Reply: Andrus) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious, Deck 13, Shuttlebay, COPS, Lt. Jennifer MacAdams Day 9, 0255) Jennifer slipped into the shuttlebay and made her way to the Runabout, activating the outer hatch as she approached. With the Captain reported dead and the ship a veritable beehive of confusion now was the time to make her move. Reports of her success had filtered rapidly through the ranks, it had taken only a moment for her call to sickbay to check on Saleke's condition to yield good news. Now she was on her way to initiate the second part of her plan, while she was ostensibly on bridge duty due to the red alert she was counting on the smoke screen she had created to give her a bit of leeway. The Runabouts hatch closed behind her and she turned to the left and entered the pilot compartment then slipped into the chair and initiated the start up sequence. As she brought the Dark Star to life she allowed herself an instant to chuckle in satisfaction, her short brown hair dancing in her mirth. The hum of the engines and the feel of the power within the vessel was almost intoxicating. When the readouts showed full power she started the liftoff sequence and when the power was diverted to thrusters the sound masked the opening of the hatch in the rear of the vessel. "Goodbye Furious, it was fun serving on you." She smiled as the runabout quietly lifted off the deck. "Unfortunate for you Lieutenant that you will not be leaving her till your delivery to court martial." The voice behind her caused her blood to run cold and she almost jumped out of the seat. "How...?" Her phaser was at her belt and her hands on the console, if she made a move she had no doubts she would be stunned into submission, time to play it cool. She turned her head slowly without moving her hands and looked behind her to see Captain Saleke and CTAC Williams with two security officers standing alertly at angles behind and to their sides so they had a clear shot with the phasers they held in steady hands. "There is no time for a detailed explanation." The Captain crossed his arms before him. "Suffice it to say your attempt was a failure. I waited till you had initiated liftoff to verify you were working alone." She allowed a frown to eclipse her face and settled back on her side against the console with her left hand moving seemingly naturally to a position farther along it and near a blue button. "A pity." She sighed and shook her head, the slight of hand further covering the movement of her index finger over the button till it caressed it. "But I won't be taken in and I refuse to do time on a penal colony. I had hoped to avoid my own destruction but you leave me no choice." The vulcan was nonplussed, so calm it shook her confidence for an instant. "Goodbye Captain." The finger depressed the button before the security guards could react and she leaned back against the console with a gloating smile and closed her eyes while waiting for the sound of the explosion of the warp drive engines and the 'feeling' of non existence to overtake her. Three seconds seemed to crawl by before she reopened her eyes and looked around in confusion. Her gaze met the captain's eyes and she knew, damn it she knew! "The explosive you attached to the warp core was found and disarmed a week ago by the CEO, there will be no destruction of the Furious." His calm voice mocked her, infuriated her. "Damn you!" "Security take Ms. MacAdams into custody." (Reply: Any) "No!" She gathered herself and sprang from the chair at the vulcan but the phaser beams intercepted her before she could clear the seat and she ended up rolling out of it to the floor, her consciousness going to black. But keep the pressure on them. I want them to think the Devil himself is commanding this starship." (Reply Sullivan) NRPG: Feel free to add to the battle as a whole. I'm only getting us started. As the two combatants closed distance, the Furious fell back to prepare for her own engagement with the Imperial vessel. The point was for the Federation Rosenante to grab and keep the Imperial ship's attentions long enough for the Furious to maneuver into the best positions to assault the enemy flanks. Ahmed realized that the Furious would likely go to Tri-Vector mode, increasing the federation's tactical position, but sacrificing one powerful starship's abilities, for three lesser vessels. Doing so, of course had it's distinct advantages, such as concentrated fire and speed. the Prometheus class in tri-vector would be a considerable opponent, even if the Furious wasn't as powerful as the Rosenante class. She could still conduct very irritating and potentially devastating hit and run tactics against the larger more powerful vessel. When 'his' Rosenante hit tactical range, his tactical and security crews began firing a heavy barrage of phaser fire. It took a few moments for all of them to realize that the imperial ship had activated it's SEDIS. The initial phaser volley had been wasted on a sensor ghost. "Two photon torpedoes, 15 degree spread, have them explode at range to enemy ghost signature. Set their warheads to emit a tetrion burst upon detonation." Ahmed ordered, "Fire when ready!" (reply Sullivan) The two torpedoes were away a few moments later, racing to either side of the ghost image. They would most likely hit nothing, but that made no difference to the Engineer turned captain. he realized the likelihood of striking anything with those shots. But he didn't need a direct hit. "Set phasers to auto target and fire on any energy signature reflecting the tetrion burst." He then ordered. (reply Sullivan or Raschen) A few moments later the two torpedoes exploded, sending a nearly invisible shockwave of tetrion radiation in an expanding shell traveling at near light speed. Within a span of moments too small for the biological brain to even register the tetrion particles reached the shields of the actual imperial warship and lit up like a proverbial Christmas tree. The sensors detected the energy reflection as the wave bounced from the shields. The targeting systems locked on target and the phasers began firing a heavy barrage, scoring hit after hit on the Imperial vessel. ~First Blood~ Ahmed thought as the enemy vessel's shields blossomed in a dazzling array of brilliant colors as they dissipated the energy of the phaser strikes. The Imperial starship captain was far from finished however. he swung his vessel downwards and spun her so that she was standing on the edge of her saucer. Her path took her immediately under her federation counterpart. "Mister Midas, hard to port!" Salid ordered. "Hard port, Aye sir." His own ship, started to bank away from the maneuver, but he'd reacted too late. Phaser blasts from the Imperial warship, lanced out across the empty void of space, slamming into the ventral shields of the Federation vessel. The ship shuddered, as blast after blast of high energy nadion particles, pumped into the ship's defensive grid. Alarms sounded across the bridge, and something exploded deep below them. "Damage report!" Ahmed called. "We've had a temporary failure in ventral shields. we've lost the Aft ventral torpedo launcher and one of our DEA emitters. DECS has been activated to cover the affected area. We have hull breaches on deck 28." Smith reported." "Mister Jackson, Seal the affected areas and have engineering send a damage control team. Have medical dispatch medical teams. And monitor those ventral shields, don't let them drop below 60% if you can help it." (reply Jackson) "Return fire." Ahmed ordered his tactical team. (reply Raschen, Sullivan) A stream of phaser fire slammed into the starboard side of the ISS Rosenante, causing a brilliant cascade of colors to dance wildly across the surface of their shields. Either Sullivan or Raschen had been reading his mind, because before he could say anything, a stream of four photon torpedoes from the aft launchers streaked across space closing the distance between the two ships almost before Ahmed's brain could register that they had existed. Three slammed into the Mirror universe vessel's already weakened shields collapsing them. The last struck unprotected hull and vaporized a section of the ship's armored exterior. debris launched into space as trapped atmosphere became animated in it's desire to escape the damaged compartments. "She's accelerating towards the Furious at full impulse." Midas reported. "Bring us around Mister Midas, increase speed to match." "Aye sir, coming about 180-degrees." The helmsman reported as his fingers played across the console. It didn't take a genius to realize that the Imperial vessel would reach the Furious well before the Rosenante could catch them. Ahmed just hoped that Captain Saleke was as skilled with the Prometheus class ship as he'd heard the Vulcan captain to be. (reply All) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 1136) Ahmed nodded. "Granted Mister Sullivan. But keep the pressure on them. I want them to think the Devil himself is commanding this star ship." "Aye sir, infernal fury." she responded. Soon they were with in range that the ISS Rosenante could not lock onto torpedoes that were fired, T'Larah set up a volley of phaser fire designed to knock out the shields in a few moments. The shots were direct hits, but passed right through, T'Larah checked the sensor readings. "Sir, we've been firing at a sensor anomaly." she reported from her findings. "Two photon torpedoes, 15 degree spread, have them explode at range to enemy ghost signature. Set their warheads to emit a tetrion burst upon detonation." Ahmed ordered, "Fire when ready!" T'Larah's fingers danced across the panel setting up the torpedo that the Captain ordered, while setting up the firing patterns with her off hand. "Firing torpedoes." she said as the warheads exited the tubes at near the speed of light. "Set phasers to auto target and fire on any energy signature reflecting the tetrion burst." He then ordered. "Aye, aye." she said and coordinated the automatic triangulation firing sequence needed to target the ISS vessel. Within a split moment that felt like it was stretching on to eternity, the torpedoes exploded sending it's shock wave, invisible to the Human or even Vulcan eye that reacted with the marauder Rosenante's shields. As designed this universe's Rosenante began firing a barrage of phaser fire rotating from different arrays randomly. The ISS Rosenante reacted and dove and rotated presenting minimal aspect to the USS Rosenante's ventral plane. Captain Salid must have realized something in that instant, "Mister Midas, hard to port!" Salid ordered. "Hard port, Aye sir." The imperial vessel attacked and the Rosenante shuddered from the impact, more then she should have from a simple series of impact to the shields, the Captain noticed it too, just before alarms and klaxons started to echo through the bridge. And monitor those ventral shields, don't let them drop below 60% if you can help it." (reply Jackson) "Return fire." the Captain ordered. Sullivan attempted to target a more vital system and opened fire, the phasers collided into the marauder's shields. T'Larah followed up with the a small spread of torpedos from the aft launcher as they passed. The spread collapsed the starboard shields and the final torpedo made it through, and struck true, causing a hull breach on the dark mirror vessel, it realased atmosphere into the black inkyness of space. "She's accelerating towards the Furious at full impulse." Midas reported. "Bring us around Mister Midas, increase speed to match." "Aye sir, coming about 180-degrees." The helmsman reported as his fingers played across the console. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - COPS, Lt Tom Jackson - Day 11- 1137) The Battle had begun! The Rosenante engaged it's evil twin - the Furious dropped back and made ready to engage the ISS Rosenante. Jackson was closely watching his readouts. Damage so far had been limited but that was not going to last much longer. Captain Salid was busy issuing orders. Lt Cmdr Sullivan was working hard and keeping the pressure on the enemy. Tom was wondering if he would see the tri-vector mode of the Furious come into play. He wanted to meet her crew one day and get to know them. The captain ordered specially modified torpedo's to be readied to fire - with a 15 degree spread. He surmised that this was to better define the 'ghost' images that had been picked up. Tom watched as they were fired. The torpedo's fires sending tetrion energy - this allowed the phasers to target the ISS Rosenante's shields and get them a valid target to fire at. The Imperial starship came about and moved under the RosenanteAhmed Salid ordered "Hard about" and Pahsers fire erupted from the ISS vessel and struck the Federation Rosenante. Tom;s vessel had been injured. Hits occurred on the ventral shields. As Jackson began to issue steps to repair them, Captain Salid ordered a damage control report. Robbie Smith filled in the Captain. The Co ordered Jackson to seal the area affected. Tom Jackson had beat the CO to it replying "Area's sealed and I am directing Medical to dispatch a team to take care of the injuries. I will have a report soon Sir" Jackson replied. (reply: Captain) Ahmed went on to to order Jackson to not let the Shields drop below 60% . "Re-routing mergecny power to re-inforce the shields SIr" Jackson added. (reply: CO) Tom Jackson signlled Sick Bay to dispatch a medical team to the affected are and to report status as soon as they took car eof the injured. (reply: Sick Bay) The ISS vessel was speeding towards teh Furious. They matched its speed and headed to intercept that ship beoifre it targeted the Furious. (rteply: Any) (posted by: Bill) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante- Bridge - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU) - Day 11- 1138) Ahmed smiled when he saw the Federation starship rushing ahead into battle. He smiled because it seemed that his counterpart wasn't particularly skilled in the tactical sense. Charging straight forward into the jaws of a ship like the Rosenante was sheer suicide. The Imperial union captain leaned forward, wearing that grin. "Mister Sullivan let's give them a sensor ghost," he ordered, when we've got the freighter between us, activate the SEDIS and have the ghost diverge away from us by three degrees dorsal act as if we will be moving from below to attack the Rosenante." (reply Sullivan MU) "Mister Nayati, put the freighter between us." (reply Nayati MU) "Temerarious, finish off that freighter once the SEDIS is active, we'll use the expanding debris field to help cover our movements." (Reply Raschen MU) Ahmed watched as the ISS Rosenante slid around behind the badly damaged Cardassian civilian freighter in a nice smooth arc. Once clear, and the SEDIS active, Salid ordered, "now Chance." (reply Raschen MU) The Cardassian freighter shook and shuddered under the onslaught of the weapon's fire from the Imperial warship. It's skin split and then blossomed outwards as something critical exploded, tearing the vessel apart. The Imperial warship and her ghost image turned and lined up on an attack run towards her federation counterpart. The plan would be to close distance to the point that her tactical officer wouldn't be able to destroy incoming torpedoes. If their Sullivan was anything at all like his own, she was a very good shot. He watched with a sense of satisfaction as the federation vessel fell for the ruse. Their phaser blasts passing harmlessly through the sensor ghost. The plan had worked perfectly, with the expanding debris field covering the actually warship from immediate view of the federation vessel. Perhaps not learning from his first mistake, his weaker and less seasoned counterpart fired two torpedoes off to either side of the ghost. A good tactic if you were thinking on a two dimensional plane. However, the Ghost image of the Rosenante was below them and so the torpedoes had no chance of striking home. The torpedoes exploded, and a half moment later, the Imperial warship was rocked by a barrage of phaser fire as she emerged from the debris field. The acquisition time of the USS Rosenante against his ship was impressive. "Damage report!" He bellowed. "Ventral shields at 50%, minor hull damage on deck 20." Smith reported. Shields regenerating. ~Perhaps I've underestimated you.~ Ahmed thought, then barked out a few more orders. "Helm, alter course, negative Z, 12.5- degrees, rotate the ship 90- degrees to port side." (reply Nayati MU) "Mister Sullivan, full phaser barrage with Starboard arrays. Aim for their ventral shield generators and torpedo launchers." (reply Sullivan MU) As the imperial warship, shifted course, the federation captain, the weaker version of himself, reacted too slowly. He tried in vain to twist his ship to bring more weapons to bear. Sullivan and Temerarious were deadly shots; their skills honed by dozens of battles. The ventral shields on the federation ship, sputtered under the onslaught of high energy particles and the Phased energy beams ripped into the unprotected belly of the federation Starship. Flares of ice crystals were spit into space as compartments lost integrity. Two brilliant flares of light flashed into the darkness of space as the phasers found their mark. The federation starship's DEA ventral generator exploded in a flash of heat and light. This was followed shortly there after by the destruction of the ventral Torpedo launch bay. "Direct hit." Smith relayed. "Mister Nayati, finish the roll and close distance to the Furious. Full impulse." (reply Nayati MU) As the Imperial ship pulled away from her damaged counterpart, phaser fire from that ship slammed into her starboard side. The shields flickered briefly but held. At least until the photon torpedoes slammed home. Under the barrage of torpedoes, the starboard DEA failed and one of the torpedoes slammed into the hull of the engineering section. The portion of the hull at the impact point was vaporized, and the gap spit personnel and debris into the cold grasp of space. "Hull breach amidships starboard side. Minor Damage, DECS has come online to cover the unprotected area. Damage control teams en route." Ahmed nodded. He had another vessel in his sights now. And it wasn't nearly as capable of causing him damage as the Federation counterpart to his ship. Once it was out of the way, he'd redouble his efforts against his counterpart. In a few moments he'd be inside striking range of the Furious and the Rosenante would still be playing catch-up. (reply All MU) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge – CSec- LT Chance Raschen- 1140) Chance was seated at his station, working diligently like any subordinate should, yet mentally fretted like any commander headed into battle. "Helm, put us on an intercept course for the marauder. Mister Sullivan, Mister Raschen. Weapons hot; Fire at will when in range." After Midas and Sullivan replied, Raschen had simply nodded and said “Hooah sir.” As the two combatants closed distance, the Furious fell back to prepare for her own engagement with the Imperial vessel. The point was for the Federation Rosenante to grab and keep the Imperial ship's attentions long enough for the Furious to maneuver into the best positions to assault the enemy flanks. Raschen had a hunch that the Furious would likely go to Tri-Vector mode. Not so much because it increased the fed's tactical position. Granted, sacrificing one powerful starship's abilities, for three lesser vessels was good when all you looked at was numbers. Chance learned years before during the Fedration-Cardassian War that more numbers does not insure victory, but there has never been a “Holy Grail” to victory in battle. Of course the Furious had it's distinct advantages, such as concentrated fire and speed when in Tri-Vector mode. The Prometheus class, in tri-vector, would be a considerable opponent, even if the Furious wasn't as powerful as the Rosenante class. She could still conduct very irritating and potentially devastating hit and run tactics against the larger more powerful vessel. One thing is true of Starfleet though, when they get a new concept and discovers it can work, the Feds will aver-use, and abuse it till it fails consistently. When the Federal Rosenante hit tactical range, Raschen’s security crews, along with Sullivan’s tactical crews, began firing a heavy barrage of phaser fire. It took a few moments for all of them to realize that the imperial ship had activated it's SEDIS. The initial phaser volley had been wasted on a sensor ghost. They had been duped... "Two photon torpedoes, 15 degree spread, have them explode at range to enemy ghost signature. Set their warheads to emit a tetrion burst upon detonation." Ahmed ordered, "Fire when ready!" Shortly thereafter, the two torpedoes were away, racing to either side of the ghost image. They would most likely hit nothing, but that made no difference they didn't need a direct hit. "Set phasers to auto target and fire on any energy signature reflecting the tetrion burst." The captain then ordered. “Standing-by” was the security chief’s simple reply.. A few moments later the two torpedoes exploded, sending a nearly invisible shockwave of tetrion radiation which reached the shields of the actual imperial warship and lit up like a proverbial Christmas tree. The sensors detected the energy reflection as the wave bounced from the shields. DECS has been activated to cover the affected area. We have hull breaches on deck 28." Smith reported.. Chance didn’t catch all of what was being said between the captain and the ops chief. Raschen had hit a moment of frustration. He understood that Starfleet captains did things differently than ‘civilian’ ship captains in battle. He remembered how on the Dennison, he had been reprimanded as an operations officer just telling the captain where damage was at the same time he started sending damage control and medical teams to those sections. "Return fire." Ahmed ordered. “Firing at targets of opportunity.” Raschen said calmly as he sent stream after stream of phaser fire slammed slammed into the starboard side of the ISS Rosenante. At the same time Sullivan sent a stream of four photon torpedoes from the aft launchers which streaked across space closing the distance between the two ships. Three slammed into the Mirror universe vessel's already weakened shields collapsing them. The last one hit unprotected hull and vaporized a section of the ship's armored exterior. The air was hazy with smoke and she could almost taste the ozone of burnt circuit boards. She couldn’t see any prone forms but it appeared that none in this room escaped completely free. While the group fanned to provide aid, she approached the officer’ “Lieutenant, are there any other stations reporting any causalities?” she asked “No” the officer replied shortly, obviously preoccupied with other matters Kimiko noticed that he had a scalp lac, but small and none of the other signs of head injury so she decided not to pursue what would be a hopeless cause, so she glanced around for another victim. (Reply Any) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Main Engineering - CEO, Lieutenant Alimi Morrow - Day 11- 1158) As the ship shook and damage reports came flooding in Alimi was feeling almost overwhelmed by the flood of information being reported by his engineering staff. "Close off that power leak. Reroute the flow through junction 21-J, and make it fast before we end up with a plasma fire." he ordered in response to the latest round of reports. "Morrow to Rixx, I've got a primary power relay on Deck 19, section 82A that is burning it's way through the deck, can you get someone down there to shut it down? It's not responding to controls?" (reply Rixx) "Thank you Ensign. Morrow out." Suddenly there was a massive jerk as the deck of the ship pulled itself away from his feet and then slammed back upwards unexpectedly. Alimi slammed into the master console, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to see stars. A warm stickiness was spreading across his right cheek and eye from a gash that had opened in his brow. "Damage report!" he croaked weakly, as he was struggling to get to his feet. A sharp pain when he took in air caused him no small amount of discomfort. "We've a radiation leak from the Attenuation chamber. The housing has cracked." Someone called out. ~Holy...~ Alimi thought. "We're also leaking plasma coolant. From the primary coolant tank." Someone else added. Alimi spun on his heels, fighting the vertigo that caused his vision to swim sickeningly. He pressed his eyes closed tightly, took two very painful deep breaths and then forced them open. The plasma was boiling out of a heavily cracked tube. It wasn't the kind that would dissolve flesh, but it was a very dangerous radioactive gas that could kill you just the same. "Everybody out!" He called as he watched the gas expand and cover an ensign laying on the floor unconscious. "Evacuate Main Engineering! Now!" The crew didn't have to be told twice, they knew what was at risk and they knew that the only way to survive was to obey his order. He slammed his palm against the emergency evacuation alarm even as his engineering crew were moving quickly towards the emergency containment doors at the end of the compartment. He tapped his commbadge. "Morrow to Bridge, we have a coolant leak and a radiation danger, I'm ordering Engineering abandoned." =^=Understood Mister Morrow. Do what you can to regain operational control of Engineering, Bridge out.=^= "Yes sir." Once he closed the channel, Alimi did the only thing that he could. He waded into the expanding cloud of radioactive coolant to retrieve Ensign Carter. The Greenish gas was caustic. It burned his lungs and stung his eyes. The Chief engineer couldn't simply allow the young officer to perish without a chance of aid and so he drove on, dealing with the blistering sensation as the radiation covered his skin with blisters. His hand found the young engineer, and with a determination that was borne from a need for survival, he latched on to the younger man's left wrist and started dragging him towards the exit. When he emerged from the corrosive cloud of gas, he noted that the barricade was half closed, Two engineers were hovering there, motioning for him to hurry. "Have to get Carter out!" He called to them, the pain in his lungs was incredible, and it caused him to gasp for air which only made it worse. The two engineers nodded, looked at each other than ducked under the door, to help Alimi. It took them both to get a hold of the younger engineer and start dragging him to safety. Alimi waved them away, now that they were in control of the injured engineer. He was making his way back toward the lowering barricade, when he heard the master alarm. He froze in his tracks. It was the alarm that indicated a potential warp containment breach. It was the one alarm that every engineer feared. With a single glance at the lowering barricade, and the knowledge that if he stopped he'd be trapped here. Alimi forced himself to turn and head towards the master situation display. Just as he reached it, the Barricade seated into the floor of the compartment sealing of the engineering compartment. There was no hope of escape now. The failure alarm was reverberating through the compartment, grating against his already stretched nerves. There was a fluctuation of the second core caused by the radiation leak and the loss of coolant. He'd have to eject the core or shut it down. =^=Salid to engineering, we're showing a potential core breach in core number two. The ejection system is off line.=^= He should have known that the captain, an prior chief engineer would have attempted to eject the core. That having failed, the man would have no choice but to order someone to stay behind and die to protect the ship. Alimi steeled his resolve before tapping his commbadge to reply. As he did so he noticed that edges of some of the blisters were blackening. His skin was taking on dark splotches that reminded him of small plasma burns . "I'm on it sir. I'll take care of it." He replied. =^=Understood.=^= he finally managed to reply, =^=Bridge out.=^= Alimi went to work stabilizing the core. He knew that he had just thrown away his life. But he had no choice. He couldn't simply let the ship die, because he was afraid to do so himself. He tapped his commbadge one more time. "Morrow to Rixx. " he said, gasping for air as the plasma cloud began to cover him again. ~please don't let me go blind~ he thought (reply Rixx) "We've got a plasma coolant leak and a potential warp core breach in progress in Main engineering. I've evacuated the compartment. I'm doing what I can to stop the breach. You are now in command of the Engineering department." he said, his lungs burning with the effort of speech. "One last thing. Don't let this ship die, ensign. That's an order." (reply Rixx, Nayati, Any Engineer) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 11- 1159) As the Rosenante swung around in a tight arc at full impulse Ahmed smiled when he realized that Saleke was not only waiting and ready for his Mirror Universe counterpart, but that his alternate self had not yet realized the danger that he was in. The Furious had already separated into trivector mode, although the individual sections of the Prometheus class ship were merely a couple of dozen meters apart and therefore exceptionally difficult to identify as separated by sensors. Flying in such close proximity was a tricky affair, and could prove disastrous if not handled properly. Ahmed had no doubt that the crew of those three sections would be capable of handling the complex maneuvers as high speed that they would soon be making. As the Alternate Rosenante closed distance, Saleke would employ the massive maneuverability and firepower against the single ship. Attacking at close range, multiple shield faces and causing a great amount of consternation for the Imperial starship captain. With his own Rosenante right behind the intruder, the four ships would be able to put so much pressure on the other ship that victory should be assured. He just hoped that his counterpart would realize it and either surrender rather than draw out the fight needlessly. Even following at matched speeds, the Rosenante was close enough to the Imperial starship to exchange phaser fire with the unwanted vessel. The brilliant red luminous blasts of phased energy reached out across the gap between the two vessels, pounding shield sand collapsing into a cascade of brilliant blue and green light as their energy was diverted away from the hull of the enemy ship. Photon torpedoes followed the lances of energy, but the Mirror Universe Sullivan was as skilled as his own and the majority of them were being destroyed by point defense fire well before they could reach their target. Ahmed would have thought that continuing to fire torpedoes would be a wasted effort, except for the fact that every torpedo that the Other Sullivan was forced to engage was one more phaser blast that could not be landed against either his ship or the Sections of the Furious. Spreads of torpedoes were launched towards his own ship and his own tactical and security crew scrambled to destroy them all as efficiently as their mirror universe counterparts had a moment before. There was a slight different in skill level or experience between the two Sullivans and Raschens on the two mirror vessels. His own tactical crew were not as experienced at intercepting small torpedoes at cosmically close range while they were traveling at warp one. The fact that they could intercept any of them at all was an amazing feat. The sense of a living being simply could not register the incredibly fast movement of something moving that fast such a short astronomical distance, yet time after time, his crew managed to destroy torpedoes that he barely had time to realize were in bound. Their efforts while not perfect were admirable. Most of the torpedoes evaporated in the span of empty space between the two Rosenante's. Only a few actually made it to impact against the shields of his Rosenante. The ship shook three times as three of the original ten launched torpedoes slammed into the Rosenante's forward shields. He knew that the shields were taking a pounding as the vessel shook under a barrage of phaser fire. He glanced down at his own command console to see the forward shields were in danger of collapse. He had already ordered Jackson to maintain the Ventral shields at 60% and the Operations officer was working hard to do so, as the occasional phaser blast slammed into the belly shields of the mighty Rosenante. Against most other starship classes, they wouldn't have to worry so much about shield collapse, but against another Rosenante class, they were as vulnerable as they could be against another federation vessel. Jackson reported that they had successfully sealed off the affected areas where the Imperial ship had gouged out a series of holes that had breached the belly of his ship. It was almost as if the darker vessel had attempted to disembowel his ship in a single effort. That, of course hadn't happened. Now it was time for payback. "Area's sealed and I am directing Medical to dispatch a team to take care of the injuries. I will have a report soon Sir" Jackson reported. "Thank you Lieutenant." Ahmed replied, "Monitor our shield situation closely." "Re-routing emergency power to reinforce the shields Sir" Jackson added. Ahmed watched as more phaser energy lanced between the two ships, their shields shimmered, his own shimmered as well, spawning incredible displays of dancing energy that would have been considered beautiful if it wasn't so potentially deadly. "Mister Raschen concentrate your fire on the structural point number six that you identified in your plan." Ahmed ordered, knowing that that sort of damage would cause all sorts of problems for the mirror vessel's main engineering compartment. Hopefully that would slow them down some. (reply Raschen) "Mister Sullivan keep the pressure on. Torpedoes and Phasers, spread them out across the ship's shield faces as possible, make it hard for their Operations officer to compensate for the power drains." He added. (reply Sullivan) Another series of impacts rocked his ship as a spread of Quantum torpedoes at close range slammed into the forward shield of the ship, collapsing it. Two torpedoes slammed into the hull. "Forward shields have collapsed, Hull breaches forward, Decks four through six." Smith reported. "Helm, alter course minus ten degrees z axis," He regarded his tactical display, "new course zero-seven- three mark two eight." "Aye, sir" Midas repeated as he shifted the Rosenante's path, " Minus ten degrees z- axis, on heading zero-seven-three-mark-two-eight." The Majestic starship dove and started to bank towards the direction that would take them under the belly of the enemy vessel. "Mister Sullivan. Concentrate all your fire here." he ordered, tapping a series of buttons that sent a firing solution to the tactical officer's console. (reply Sullivan) Four more torpedoes slammed into the Rosenante as Sullivan shifted from point defense to prepare to concentrate the firepower of the powerful starship at his command. "Dorsal shields down to twelve percent," Smith relayed. "Damage to main engineering." "Mister Jackson. Get those shields strengthened." Ahmed ordered. (reply Jackson) Suddenly a chirp sounded on the bridge. =^= Morrow to Bridge, we have a coolant leak and a radiation danger, I'm ordering Engineering abandoned.=^= Ahmed's eyes took on a sense of worry. If they lost engineering, the battle could well be over for them as damage could mount from an inability to tend to the those that could follow-up in that critical compartment. Still the Captain could not order the engineers to stay behind at extreme peril to themselves. With a sense of resignation he replied with a tap of his commbadge, "Understood Mister Morrow. Do what you can to regain operational control of Engineering, Bridge out." =^= Yes sir.=^= the chief engineer's voice replied, before the channel closed. Then Smith gave him more bad news. "Captain I am showing a spike in the Warp core. There's danger of a containment breach." "Which core?" he asked. "Core number two, sir." Smith answered, even as the Rosenante shook under another barrage or weapons fire. "Eject it." Ahmed replied. "No affect captain, the ejection system is malfunctioning." Smith replied. Ahmed tapped his commbadge again. "Salid to engineering, we're showing a potential core breach in core number two. The ejection system is off line." It was Morrow's voice that came back, =^= I'm on it sir. I'll take care of it.=^= All Ahmed could do was nod. He couldn't say anything else without revealing the emotion that he was feeling. This was exactly the sort of thing that had happened to his father at the battle of Cardassia. He had not survived, but it had saved the rest of the crew of the Tripoli. "Understood." he finally managed to reply, "Bridge out." He turned to Nayati, the Necron Two Native, whose superior strength and hardiness could be critical to the Chief engineering in Main engineering. Could he order him to possibly risk his life down there? "Mister Nayati." He finally said, wondering if he was about to order Jon to his death, " I need you down in Main engineering. Morrow can't do this alone and you have an innate resistance to radiation, more so than anyone else on this ship. Get down there, grab a Rad suit and help him if you can." The one that took place between the Federation Rosenante, and the Furious against the Imperial Rosenante in many ways reminded Raschen of his first firefight. Started off like two angry lovers dancing while trying to carry on a terse discussion, using their eyes and words to send kisses of malice and destruction at each other. Then the Imperial Rosenante started making towards the Furious as if going after its dance partner’s other lover. When Raschen considered his chosen analogy, it made him smile. “If we survive this, I need to put a call in to Magistrate S'Adashiv!” he said to no one in particular as panels and consoles either shorted out in an array of sparks or just simply blew apart. (Reply any) The Security Chief checked his tactical readout. The Marauder was pounding the hell out of the Furious sections. One of which was barely able to fight let alone anything else, the other two sections weren’t in much better shape than the Rose. Fortunately the Marauder was in the same shape.. The unfortunate part however, was that the imperial ship was outnumbered 4 to 1 and holding its own. Somehow that commander had managed to gain control of the battle and maintain it. All of a sudden Raschen had an idea. It was worked in the past against Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Orions, even some of the Federation starship commanders. “Captain, I got an idea!” he shouted over another explosion. (Reply Salid) “There is one front we haven’t attacked yet sir.” He managed to get out before being tossed out of his seat and onto the deck in front of the command chair as the ship rocked from another in a series of direct hits. (Reply Salid, and/or any on the bridge) As he got up on his feet, holding his left shoulder which had been dislocated, Chance looked at his skipper and stated “His pride sir. As a privateer in the Fed-Car war, military commanders would get peeved when they found out their butt was being handed to them, not only by a civilian, but a ‘kid’ at that. If you were this guy…” he stated as he jabbed his thumb toward the main viewer “…what would be a bigger kick in the teeth than to know that a couple of junior officers and some NCOs were more than holding their own against you and your commissioned officers?” (Reply Salid, and/or any on the bridge) “Sir, the auxiliary bridge is fully operational; leave me up here with Lieutenant Yalix with a bunch of NCOs and crewmen, we can hold things together from up here till you get down there and resume command. Then from here we can establish communications with them and I can use my less than charming personality to make him made and lose focus on the Furious. While he is concentrating on killing me, the Furious can regroup and attack again. Then we can gain control of the engagement. Well; what do you think?” (Reply Salid, and/or any on the bridge) (Reply Salid, and/or any on the bridge) (Posted by Charlie Raschen) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - Ens Kimiko Ichijo- Day 11- 1151) Kimiko was sorting though the kits and picking and choosing what would be the most effective for a quick response. She had been listening to the klaxon for a few minutes and was getting just a little tired of the noise. Suddenly the ship shuddered and she heard the announcement.. Sam called "Kimiko, I need you to gather a medical team and head to deck 28, we got wounded." “Ok guy, you know who you are” The doctor motioned with her head and grabbed a kit “Lets go” Kimiko headed out of the room (Reply any IFW or none, don’t care :) ) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- End Compile ---------------------------------------------------------------------
