The doctor tore off her suit and uniform and sent them though the reclamation chute, then jumped under the almost scalding water. ~This is the part that I hate~ Kimiko removed the sonic exfoliatior and moved the wand up and down her limbs. It always felt like a trail of ants wearing cleats. She stayed under the spray for the mandatory ten minutes and jumped out. Donning a pair of scrubs, Kimiko rushed out of the chamber and into main sickbay. The doctor headed to the bay that CEO was being worked on and was brought up short by the EMH. “Hello, umm thanks for the assistance in engineering, but I am in the middle of something.” (Reply EMH) “Well actually, I was planning to assist with Morrow.” Kimiko replied a little nervous, the EMHs at school were not quite this…. Interactive (Reply EMH) “ I have about thirty minutes before I approach even minimals for exposure” Kimiko stated indigently (Reply EMH) Kimiko couldn’t believe that she was arguing with a hologram and what was worse is that the EMH may be right and there was not a graceful way to bow out of this one. “No it will not be necessary to consult with Dr Wyler, I will confine my activities to the sickbay” ~I’m being grounded by the computer, gawds~ The EMH stood there as a pointed reminder. "What is that?" Andrus hollered. "It appears to be some type of weapon heading toward the sun" replied Fred Jones. "K'tar, tell Captain Saleke we are heading after this weapon." Andrus ordered. "Aye Sir" replied K'tar. (reply: Captain Saleke) "Helm, plot an intercept course maximum speed." Andrus ORDERED. Doctor or not it meant nothing to his programing. "Indeed you are doctor. You are in the middle of finding yourself a bed in the main Sickbay so that you may be treated for radiation poisoning. If you would be so good as to find yourself a spare bed I will be with you momentarily." “Well actually, I was planning to assist with Morrow.” "Indeed you may still Doctor, just as soon as I have treated you for the radiation poisoning you suffered in Engineering." “ I have about thirty minutes before I approach even minimal for exposure” The EMH rolled his eyes. "Please doctor. You and I both know that the radiation you were exposed to in Engineering was well over the safe limits for any human. The quicker you are treated the quicker you can go back to work. Now allow me to treat you, or would you rather I called on Dr Wyler. I'm sure she will be extremely happy to be pulled away from a critical patient simply to tell you what you and I already know." “No it will not be necessary to consult with Dr Wyler, I will confine my activities to the sickbay” "No Dr Ichijo you will not confine your activities to Sickbay. You will head for the nearest bed and you will stay there until I have treated you." Standing his ground the EMH simply waited until Ichijo finally acquiesced and took a bed. Smiling to himself he began treating her. (Reply Ichijo iyw (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Bridge - FO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 11 -1345) Josh simply waited whilst the Captain of the ISS Rosenante considered surrender. She watched as he looked her up and down, gazing at her appraisingly and she simply ignored it. This was not a contest that Josh even planned to enter and if that is how he wanted to play this, he would play it on his own. She deliberately kept her gaze on his eyes and as they finally reached up to her own again she kept her own gaze as steady as she could. Not a word passed her lips, she didn't even crack a smile, much as she wanted to, She didn't even raise an eyebrow. She just stood there regarding him as calmly as she had done when she first arrived. Finally he answered her. Ahmed nodded once. Then slowly took his sheathed dagger from his sash and held it out to her. I formally surrender this vessel to you, Commander Jennifer Caskie. I somehow always knew that you would be taking this ship from me." Josh simply nodded to the security team and they began disarming everyone on the bridge. Acknowledging their nod Josh turned her attention back to the Captain. "Commander, I have already given an order to my bridge crew not to resist Federation boarding efforts, but I have not done so to the rest of the crew. If I may be allowed to open a intra ship channel, I will do so now." Josh finally smiled. "By all means Captain. You have one minute before my security crew remove all your comm badges. Please be so good as to give the order." "All Imperial crew, this is the captain speaking. You have fought well here and for that I commend you. However, things have changed and we have decided to form a rough alliance with the Federation officers serving on this universe's Rosenante. They have agreed to help us return home in exchange for some very valuable information. We are no longer at war and all activities underway to cause them harm or grief are to desist immediately. In order for them to assist us, they are to be allowed complete access to our systems. All security personnel are hereby ordered to lay down their weapons and report to the security centre to await further instructions from a member of the Federation crew. It has been agreed that I will retain command of this ship, and that you will all be free of persecution for following my orders. That is all. Captain out." Salid looked the federation commander square in the eyes and smiled. "In my universe commander, we are prepare for a wide variety of outcomes to a single event, even one as unlikely as has taken place here. I have information that you will want, and you will help me return my ship home and leave myself and my crew unmolested in exchange for it. If you don't then the people in your universe who have developed this Omega Technology, will remain hidden and free to try again. Do we have an understanding?" Finally Josh allowed herself to grin widely and shook her head. "No Captain we don't. You will have to bargain with my Captain for your freedom. His decision will be the final one." "I know you don't like being dictated to Jennifer, but you can ask your counterpart who knows me very well, whether I am bluffing. I assure you, that provided the Furious can destroy the Device and we therefore survive it's launch, then you will very much need to negotiate with me." At that comment Josh finally allowed herself to laugh out loud. "Why on earth would I believe anything she says. She is a confirmed flake job. She seems barely able to walk passed anyone without slitting their throat. To be honest Ahmed, I would have thought that you would have picked someone a little more appropriate than her for your First Officer. Dear lord she fits the uniform well enough, but please, she keeps all her brains in her dagger. Well what she has of brains at least." "If you are hoping to convince me of your sincerity or even of your co-operation, she is certainly not the way to do it." "However I might consider allowing you to speak to my Captain. Tell me Ahmed, just how much do you want to go home?" Salid turned and regarded his own First officer. He was amazed that she hadn't tried to jump up from her seat and kill the woman where she stood. Perhaps there was something eerie about killing your duplicate that had stayed her hand. Ahmed turned back to the Federation officer. "She has her uses, as I am certain you are aware." he replied. "There are certain situations where a desire to kill is very much in vogue. I suspect that you wouldn't understand. You're Universe is so soft in comparison. You couldn't possibly understand why we are the way we are, Jennifer. Being here is uncomfortable. It's terribly unpleasant, as if some central fiber of your soul is slowly unwinding around you with every moment. I don't like that feeling much and so put together the Omega device to get rid of it. You ask me how badly I want to get home, where I belong? The answer is badly enough to wipe out 18 billion people or more if I have to." He paused then, allowing his eyes to travel across the other members of his bridge crew. "I know my place there, Jennifer. Here, I'm out of place, like a frame without a painting. I want to go back. We all do. We need to go back." "Tell your Captain," a slight pause, "Tell him that I will do whatever it takes to get home and protect the Union of Imperial Planets. You tell him that and he'll understand. Also tell him I'd rather negotiate than be forced to take other action. We can come to an accord, he has my word." (reply Caskie) "I'd like to meet with him and Saleke. They'll negotiate because they know what's at stake." (reply Caskie) Ahmed nodded, "Then I'll have to wait and see. Provided that we're not all obliterated in the next few minutes." Salid looked then up at Tom Jackson. The man looked exactly like the man that he had known for so many years. It was regrettable that his Tom Jackson had been killed so senselessly. It would have been better for the man to have died in battle, as they had always discussed through the years. "Oh I understand Ahmed. I understand what it is like to utterly crave going back to another place, another time, where you have what you want. The difference between you and I is simple however. I would never dream of killing 18 billion people to do so." He paused then, allowing his eyes to travel across the other members of his bridge crew. "I know my place there, Jennifer. Here, I'm out of place, like a frame without a painting. I want to go back. We all do. We need to go back." Josh regarded him steadily. "Then I think that you should consider yourself lucky not to have to only deal with me. I am a doctor at heart and to me you and your ship are nothing more than a virus in this universe. I'm pretty sure you know what happens to viruses. If not I suggest you ask cutie pie there. No doubt she could tell you once she picks her jaw up of the floor. Now, to business. Once I am assured that I have complete control of this ship and it's systems I will contact Captain Salid again and put your offer to him." "Tell your Captain," a slight pause, "Tell him that I will do whatever it takes to get home and protect the Union of Imperial Planets. You tell him that and he'll understand. So she waited. In about the time it took her to scan around the room and observe it from an engineer's point of view the security team had stunned several engineers and successfully intimidated the rest. And those that weren't intimidated at least had the good sense to pretend. The Security officers fanned out and quickly taking control of the entire bay. For their part, Mitena and Caroline stayed put. When Rosenbauer called for a status check, each person on the security detail replied that things were all in the clear. "Ensign Rixx, we have the Compartment secure. Please feel free to do your thing." Rosenbauer said without looking at them. "Yes sir." She said simply as she headed to the main console. ~I'm all about doing 'my thing'.~ she thought. At any other time it would have been worth a snarky comment and a laugh. But given the circumstances, she kept the laugh and the comment to herself figuring that maybe later there would be an opportunity to laugh. Once everyone else had done 'their thing.' "Mister Cooper, sweep the CEO's office and then start transferring these prisoners there after you have seen to it that there is no computer control interface there." Rosenbauer ordered. "Aye, sir." Cooper replied and headed for the CEO's office. "I believe it's worth the consideration that until it's confirmed that the computer core has been secure that a console could be manifested anywhere aboard the ship with the proper commands." Mitena said. "I can deactivate the emitters, but they are all engineers." While her tone was even, she hoped that it would be taken in the careful consideration that she offered it with. (reply Rosenbauer) She nodded and brought up the necessary controls. Two consoles on the far side of the compartment faded out. Once that had been taken care of, she began working on what the first officer had assigned them to do. "Caroline, if you'll check the balance on the connection, we can begin the shut down procedures." Mitena said, bringing up the latest power allocation logs. When Caroline didn't reply, she looked up to see what the problem was. Caroline was still standing where they had beamed into. A mixed look of horror and amazement splayed across her face. Slowly Mitena looked in the direction that Caroline was set upon. She was certain that the look that crossed her face had to at least be close match for her compatriots. In her direct line of sight was this Rosenante's Caroline Winters. And she looked as though she'd just gotten into a fight with something big and mean. "Crewman Winters." She said a little forcefully, hoping to snap Caroline's attention to her. Both crewmen looked in her direction, but she kept her eyes on the one that had arrived with her. "Caroline, if you'll check the balance on the connection, we can begin the shut down procedures." Mitena repeated. There was a brief hesitation, but finally a response came. "Right" The crewman said, exhaling a deep breath that it seemed she had been holding. "I'll take care of it." With that Winters took a console behind Mitena and turned just so that she couldn't see her alternate. "Do you think they can move her to the CEOs office first?" Mitena heard the slight whisper behind her. "That's just unnerving." "We'll see. I don't know what order he wants to do things in." She whispered back just as quietly. Again, Mitena heard Caroline exhale deeply. "Ok." "Let's just get this done so we can beam back to the ship." Once they had determined that the engines could be safely taken offline, they began the procedure alternating the steps as quickly as they could until the process was complete. Mitena was thankful that a full engine shut down was part of the readiness training for the damage control teams. =/\=Cmdr Josh Caskie to the USS Rosenante away team. "I understand Sir, however this was an unsecured channel on my end and I would advise against using that name as verification in future. Caskie out." (ISS Rosenante - Bridge - FO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 11 - 1403) Finally Jackson replied to her. "Commander, I have the systems routed as you have ordered" Not looking in his direction Josh simply nodded. "Good work Mr Jackson. Thank you." The Andrus was indicating the strange weapon the ISS Rose had deployed. Fred frowned. "Some kind of weapon, but it has a strange signature, it's nothing the computer recognizes. It also seems to be generating some kind of deflection field." After speaking to Captain Saleke of the Furious, Andrus ordered a course alteration which aimed the ship at the projectile. The Vigilant fired twice, but it had no effect on the mysterious weapon. "Open a channel to the Furious." Andrus ordered. (reply: Captain Saleke) "Sir, we can hit the projectile but it is having no effect due to its shielding system" Andrus replied. (reply: Saleke) "Captain, I will place the Vigilant between its target and it - we will continue to fire in hope of weakening its shielding to the point damage can be done" Andrus stated. (reply: Captain Saleke) Andrus waited for any orders Saleke might issue. Fred looked at the screen displaying the strange weapon. He hoped they could find a way to stop it and soon. On the good side, he had successfully accessed the patronic shield on the Omega device. The process to overload the shields had be going on this entire time. "Come on, hurry up." Benoit muttered under his breath. "There's a spike in the shield's output!" Dr. McKittrick yelled. He began to furiously tap on the terminal in front of him. "Shield is down!" Benoit held his breath and waited for the impending destruction of the device. "Lock it off and wait for further orders from the Captain, Mister Smith. We just need to make sure that they can't mount an offensive." she said. “There is also a lot of data in the main core that I could transfer to the Rose for analysis if you want?” he asked. T'Larah pondered for a moment. The thought of what we could learn from our counterparts was lucrative. However she also did not want to open up their own systems to a security counter measure from their sinister counterparts. "Secure the secondary core remotely first if you can. Try to find the more beneficial information first, Analise the content for malicious code and put the information in secured storage that has no access to the main computer core on our Rose. We will get clearance later, and delete it if we have to." she said. "Inform me if you get any live resistance to the secondary core. We may have to go secure it in person." (Reply Ensign Smith) "Team, go down to one per entrance, those on guard use your tricorders to boost perception range. The other half clear the remaining spaces, storage and the weapons lockers. Keep a look out for strange devices and scan anything unfamiliar with tricorders." she said. (Reply Ensign Smith, Computer Core Team) ------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Main Computer Core – aCOPs – Ensign Robert Smith- 1411) "Secure the secondary core remotely first if you can. Try to find the more beneficial information first, Analise the content for malicious code and put the information in secured storage that has no access to the main computer core on our Rose. We will get clearance later, and delete it if we have to." she said. "Inform me if you get any live resistance to the secondary core. We may have to go secure it in person." “Yes Ma’am.” As Robert turned back to the console he heard Sullivan order the rest of the core team "Team, go down to one per entrance, those on guard use your tricorders to boost perception range. The other half, clear the remaining spaces, storage and the weapons lockers. Keep a look out for strange devices and scan anything unfamiliar with tricorders." ~Okay lets get down to business~ Robert accessed the main computer as soon as the omega directive had been overridden. He first accessed the secondary core and scanned it for life signs. ~Good no one is there yet~ He used his PADD go gain the door lock down codes from the main computer. He then quickly locked down the secondary computer core. Once that was done he began accessing the main computer. He used his PADD to search for the data they most wanted and then he washed it through the PADDs anti-virus software which should catch any nasty surprises in the data. He set up a secure storage core on the Rose which was stand alone and not connected to the main core. As the data was flowing between ships he set up his insurance package incase anything went wrong. He placed his own virus program into the cores of the ISS Rose. This program would work at a command from him would immediately lobotomies all their cores and leave the ship dead in the water. Once that was in place he looked back at the data that was moving to his Rose. A group of files caught his eye he brought it up on the small screen. The image was from a security camera. It took him a few seconds before he understood what he was watching. What he watched sickened him to the pit of his stomach. What some one to could do to another person. ~Ow hell no. That is now right~ He stabbed his figure on the off button. Mercifully the image went bank leaving an image imprinted on Robert’s brain that he would never forget. “Computer who’s files do they belong to.” [Assistant Chief of Operation Ensign Robert Smith] Robert froze as he heard what the computer had told him. ~ME, but that is not me I could never do something like that~ His fingers moved over to the delete button. ~I can’t let the others see this. They may think that I could do this~ His fingers hovered over the delete button there was a long pause as he fought with him self about what to do. ~If I do this he’s won and that pore person will not be avenged~ He’s fingers moved across the as he found all the files belonged to the other Robert. He put them in on big storage file and sent it to the storage file in the Rose with an attention tag to the security chief. With that done he turned his mind back to the task at hand. (Reply Sullivan, Computer Core Team) (Posted by Robbie) ------------------------- (USS Furious (Vigilant) Aux Bridge CTSO Ensign Andrus Williams Day 11 1414.5) Andrus Williams once again felt what this instructors at the Academy called "the burden of command". His vessel, the Vigilant, had been charged with engaging the projectile and destroying it if possible. "well, my friends, keep pounding the weapon - maybe the Furious staff can get the shields dropped" he paused. (reply: any on the Vigilant) "Let's make sure are shields are at the maximum - divert power from all non-essential systems" he ordered. An Engineering Petty Officer, named Buddy Holly replied "All non-essential systems have had their power diverted to Shields". Andrus nodded at the be-speckled young man. Holly was one of the very, very few people in SF that wore glasses. He had a condition similar to that of the famous Admiral named Kirk. Andrus looked around 'his' bridge - ~We are so very, very young~ he thought to himself and sighed. "Are the weapon;s shields down or weakened?" Williams asked. The small bridge was eerily quiet as they all waited for K'tar to reply. Slowly, ever slowly K'tar's usually grim visage brightened into what might be called a smile. "Andrus, today won't be a good day to die - the Shields are down on the weapon"e down" the Klingon shouted happily. Andrus smiled and said simply "Destroy that monstrosity NOW". K'tar's agile fingers danced with delight. The phaser beams leapt from the Vigilant segment. The weapon was struck. For a brief,a agonizing moment nothing happened. Then the view before them erupted in blinding shower of light and debris. The little vessel was bi=buffeted by the strongest shock waves any of the crew had ever felt. "Route power to the Inertial dampeners and watch the shield's" Andrus yelled over the roar of shorting circuits and violent shake of his ship. His motion restraints saved him from being tossed like the others. ""All stop" Andrus ordered when the last of the shock waves had passed. "Damage Control Report - all sections NOW" Williams added. Slowly, the vessel took stock of its self and its injuries. Several systems were running on the backup systems. Injuries were all noon-lethal. Mostly some a=cuts, a few broken bones. K'tar began first aid to the bridge staff who were injured. "Ensign Jones, open a channel to the Furious and pipe it to the USS Roseneate as well" he ordered. Jones was quick and soon they had voice comms with the two vessel's. Andrus paused before speaking rubbing a sore forearm. Sirs, Ensign Williams here - we've managed to destroy the weapon as ordered. My crew and I thank whoever got the shield's down" he added. (reply either Saleke or Salid) (posted by: Bill) ====================
