Jones nodded.  "What's up slim?" "Why did the captain thank us for doing our duty?"  the Klingon asked the human. Fred Jones thought for a moment and answered the taller Klingon by saying" "Well, we did kinda save his bacon.  I mean I suppose it's our duty to save him but.."  Fred went on to explain that we thanked people fro thing they did for us - like if the Doctor fixed you up. K'tar's face looked more puzzled than ever. Before the Klingon could answer, Fred added "   "Of course if the Doctor is cute, you should always make a pass at them.  It's the best compliment a woman can get!" The warrior K;tar looked down at his human comrade. "why would I hit the doctor" he asked with a straight face. K;tar knew what Fred had meant but wanted his Friend to 'squirm' a bit. Before the Klingon could answer, Fred added "Of course if the Doctor is cute, you should always make a pass at them. It's the best compliment a woman can get!" The warrior K;tar looked down at his human comrade. "why would I hit the doctor?" he asked. Fred looked somewhat confused. "I wouldn't say you should hit her. What I meant was...you know..." Fred moved both his eyebrows up and down rapidly, while looking meaningfully at the Klingon. NRPG: Know what I mean? Know what I mean? Say no more!! ;-) RPG: (Reply K'tar, any or none.) Fred sighed a bit exasperated. And stepped closer, leaning in a bit conspiratorially. "So you've got a Boy and a Girl, right? And they both fancy each other, right?" (Reply K'tar, any.) Fred then took a deep breath. "So the guy says something like...Congratulations! Your about to go on a date with the best looking guy in Starfleet." Fred then flashed a very cheesy grin. "You understand now?" (Reply K'tar, any.) "Of course." Fred continued. "If you were wanting to date the Dr., you would have to say something more classy." Fred winked and then said. "Hey Doc, have you got that cardiac implant ready? cause you just stole my heart!" (Reply K'tar, any.) Posted by: Morgan --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious Sick Bay SO - Ensign K'tar Day 5, 1913.75) Fred Jones and the taller Klingon K'tar were off to one side in Sick Bay. Fred had tried to explain the human concept of thanking one for something that person was supposed to be doing. Jones wasn;t having a lot of luck with his friend K'tar. K'tar, while an excellent warrior, was a bit dense when it came to human concepts. Fred Jones was the first human K'tar actually enjoyed being around. The Klingon exchange officer wasn't thrilled by his assignment to SF but the High Council had appointed him. He had to uphold his honor by serving his tour. The Klingon was trying to understand what Jones was telling him about thanking people for doing their duty. Klingon's didn't expect to be thanked fro doing their duty but to simply do their duty. Then Fred made a comment that caused the Klingon more confusion. Fred added, grinning, tha tif the Doctor is pretty he should hit on her. Evidently the confusion on K'tar's face was evident. Jones when on to explain "I wouldn't say you should hit her. What I meant was...you know..." Fred moved both his eyebrows up and down rapidly, while looking meaningfully at the Klingon. A slight smile began to spread on the tall Klingon;s face and before he could reply Fred added "Of course." Fred continued. "If you were wanting to date the Dr., you would have to say something more classy." K'tar nodded slowly, he was starting to understand slowly. Fred winked and then said. "Hey Doc, have you got that cardiac implant ready? cause you just stole my heart!" K'tar smiled finally getting it. "I see Ensign Jones - this is part of the mating ritual then?" K'tar replied. I believe that is the proper colloquialism, the only way to know for certain is to speak with him. You may accompany me if you wish or continue your interrupted off cycle." Erin nodded. "I think in this case captain it's better to have two sets of eyes and ears present. A second point of view could be invaluable. I'd like to accompany you since you offered." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Sickbay- FO, Commander Erin Sloane- Day 5 -1942) Erin followed Saleke feeling for all the world as if she were well behind the curve, so to speak. Here she was only working with some of the information available to her, and the mysteries just kept getting more and more complex as things began to fall into place. To say that there were massive gaps in her knowledge at this stage were an understatement. There were details that didn't seem to mesh, and several others that seemed to outright contradict each other. There was most assuredly a level of complexity here that she wasn't certain she could unravel. It was both exhilarating, in the sense that she was challenged by such a large problem; and disconcerting, because of the nature of the problem. She stood apart from the Captain as he spoke with the doctor. She was already aware of Haverly's condition. The three of them, Saleke, Foster and Erin, stepped into the room and Foster gently awoke Captain Haverly with some soft words and a comforting hand on the injured man's shoulders. Erin was pleased to see K'Tar vigilantly watching for any unauthorized entry to the compartment. She knew that she could always count on the Klingons to take charge of their duty in such a complete manner. It was for that reason that she had selected the exchange officer for this very important task. "At ease Mr. K'Tar." Saleke Ordered as they entered. Erin chose to stand out of the way, near the door, so as not to draw Captain Haverly's attention away from Saleke. It would be her purpose to observe here, rather than interview anyone. "Indeed"Sakon said as they headed to the sickbay. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Deck 10, Sickbay- CO, Captain Saleke- Day 5 -1944) "So you're my replacement." Captain Haverly said as he pushed himself up on his pillows with help from Saleke in order to better converse. "Yes." Saleke said as the man made himself comfortable. "I was appointed after your disappearance and mere hours before the ship was launched. A thorough check of the transporter by Commander Sloane turned up no abnormalities in its components. Your attacker covered her tracks well as there was no record of your beaming to an alternate location. What can you tell me of the location you were sent to?" "Nothing much." Haverly took in a deep breath then let it out slowly. "The room was dark and all I saw was the flash from a phaser befoe I was knocked unconscious." "Are you sure you remember no details of the room from the light of the energy discharge?" "None whatsoever." Haverly said. "It happened too fast." "And what is the first thing you remember after waking?" "A black suited figure with a mask standing over me." His brow wrinkled as he thought. "Some kind of mechanism in place of the mouth of the mask and I was thoroughly chained." "The figure's height and weight?" "About five foot seven or eight I'd think though it was hard to tell. Buxom and with a fine..." He looked over at Erin suddenly, remembering there was a woman in the room, his former FO. " ... a fine figure. I never caught sight of her hair color as it was pulled up beneath the hood." "So short hair then, long hair would have been bunched up bulkily beneath the hood. Eye color?"" "The light was too dim, I could never determine that." Saleke nodded. "And what of your treatment? What questions did she ask you?" "My treatment was always the same, barbaric and inhuman." The man gritted his teeth. "Beatings, near starvation and humiliation and she always had her phaser pulled and ready when I had to go while she watched. I stayed chained and cramped the rest of the time. She only asked two questions that I can remember. Who paid me to sell out the federation and why didn't I fight back?" "That is exactly how the questions were framed?" "No not exactly." David paused to fame his thoughts. "Who paid me to sell out the regime." "Which refers to the Doenitz led Federation?" "Yes." The injured captain stated. That's the only thing that makes any sense." Saleke pulled up a chair and sat down next to the bed, watching the Captain as he did so, while not in pain he still appeared weak and sickly. "Did these questions accompany the beatings?" "Yes they did." Haverly pushed himself up a little higher, he had slumped for a moment. "When I denied doing so she would call me a liar and beat me." "Did she ever mention who's orders she might be following?" "No." The man shook his head. "Not once and I tried to wheedle it out of her by making comments about her superiors but she refused to speak at that point and beat me senseless." "Did she ever make claims to the contrary?" "No." "Indeed." Saleke nodded in satisfaction. "Then by inference she was acknowledging she was under orders by failing to refute you and punishing you for asking questions." "I hadn't thought of it that way." Haverly grinned at that. "Good thinking." The vulcan sat back and looked at the man intently. "There is the possibility I could pick up some pertinent facts from your unconscious mind if you would allow a mind meld." David Haverly chuckled slightly. "Go for it. I'm game. I'd make a deal with the devil to catch that bitch." Part of his humor stemmed from the resemblance the vulcan had to that mentioned personage. Saleke nodded and slipped from the chair to stand over the other captain. His left hand on the right side of the mans face and vice-versa. The thumbs were set lightly high on the mans cheekbones near the nostrils, his index fingers resting upon his temples and the rest of his fingers following the curve of the mans head as they were centered over the mind meld nodes used by vulcans for millenia. Some adjustments had to be made to compensate for the slightly different configuration of the human brain, his fingers were making small changes of orientation as he bent over the prone figure. Saleke's eyes closed as he spoke. "Close your eyes and let your thoughts drift as our minds draw nearer." He began dismantling his mental barriers as his own eyes closed at the same time. At first emotions began to slip through which the vulcan was ready for, his mental disciplines at their peak as he allowed them to pass through without touching him like the hot wind of Alpha Eridani A passing over his skin. Anger and bitterness flowed like distilled spirits along with fear, if allowed access to him they would govern his mind and bring panic and distraction. They would be assimilated safely after the melding was complete. "Our minds are drawing closer." With most of his mental shields down now pictures began to form in his mind, flashes from the man's conscious mind of a dark, hooded figure and blackness, the blackness of a lightless place, the flash of a phaser, fists and booted feet seeking out his flesh. "Closer." His head had lowered till his face was near the other Captain's, his exhaled breath stirring locks of his hair. Flashes of impacts and cries of pain, the disguised voice of his captor ringing in his ears, in their ears. "Closer." His voice was now a whisper as he sank into the man's mind, memories slipping by him like a fractured film in no discernable order, the consciousness of David Haverly merging with his own till they were... "Our minds are one." "We are one." David Haverly whispered in reply. With his own mind Saleke began sifting through David Haverly's memories, his memories now at the beck and call of his formidable vulcan disciplines. Going back through time like the rewinding of a data stream to the time it all began. (Mindscape- USS Aggamemnon -Bridge, CO, Captain David Haverly - Stardate 2407.07.03, 0830) "Captain a communication from Commodore Weatherby." David turned to the communications officer, the woman had been assigned to the ship within the last few months and was quietly efficient. "On screen." The viewscreen changed to the bridge of another starship, the sector commander Commodore Weatherby did not appear pleased and his anger was evident. "Captain Haverly I want your ship on course for Canaris 4 at top speed now!" David didn't hesitate but ordered the change in course then turned his attention back to the screen. "Commodore what?..." Weatherby didn't hesitate. "A ship has broken through our lines and her course intersected your area of patrol, she's attacked our supply convoy in the Canaris sector and is on her way to the supply depot there. You are the closest ship in the vicinity as our main fleet is in action on the frontier, get there and intercept her. I am on my way now. Destroy or hold that ship until reinforcements arrive." Part of the bridge behind him could be seen, Lt. Romeo at tactical. "Aye sir. Orders acknowledged. We are on our way." "You had better be successful, I'm holding you responsible Captain, Weatherby out!" The screen shimmered back to the starfield as David stood to his feet. "Ensign MacAdams inform starfleet command we are en-route to the Canaris supply depot to intercept the invader." "Yes sir." The Operations officer turned her head back to him as she spoke then returned to her duty of sending off a tactical alert update to starfleet command. "How, who?" --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Deck 10, Sickbay-SCO, Ensign K'tar - Day 5 -1947) The Klingon watched the Vulcan captain perform a mind meld. He wasn't sure the usefulness of the procedure but Saleke was a Captain and he was just an Ensign. The Klingon was guarding guarding Haverly as if he were his father. His eyes constantly roamed around the Suck Bay and watched fro any signs of potential danger. Kitar thought of his boss, a Bolian named Andrus Williams. The blue skinned man made K'tar smile, something he did not always do. Williams seemed a bit tentative in his actions but seemingly good at his duties. Saleke seemed to approve of the man and K'tar thought well of the Vulcan CO. The mind meld had concluded and the CO/FO were leaving. K'tar spoke up - "Sirs, any additional orders?" he inquired. (reply: Slaeke or Sloan) (posted by: Bill) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Deck 10, Sickbay- CO, Captain Saleke- Day 5 -1950) ::We did it, we breached the frontier and attacked the supply lines. We commanded that starship.:: ::We? You? You are the vulcan who did this?:: ::We did.:: Sifting now to the memories neared to the present, past battles fought and the end of the civil war, the retiring and mothballing of his old command, through the minute preparations to the week he would take the ship out. The transport into a darkened room and the moment of disorientation and out of the corner of his eye the flash of a phaser. The flash seemed to hang forever in thin air as he felt the impact of the energy beam, a moment frozen in time. The room was dimly lit for an instant as his other self examined the scene. The telltale desk and chair in his minds eye lit by the arc of energy, the corner of a picture frame that hung on a wall to the left but the picture could not be seen. Eternity came and went as every detail, every nuance was filed away for future reference in the vulcan's mind then everything went forward again at blinding speed to his next memory, a dark figure crouched over him and beyond. Her questions, the beatings and pain, the embarassed moments of relieving himself in her presence. And again the beatings, his questions, her questions all examined minutely. And finally to his rescue. And then. ::It is enough.:: Then slowly the other mind withdrew leaving him... ~Alone. I'm alone again.~ David Haverly opened his eyes to see Saleke release his hands from his face as doctor Foster stood by tapping his foot impatiently. The Vulcan straightened to his full height and nodded down at the other Captain. "Thank you Captain Haverly, we will talk further when you are stronger." He turned to the doctor and raised an eyebrow. Doctor Foster settled down but chipped in. "You're two minutes late Captain." "My apologies Doctor but we are leaving now, thank you." He turned to Commander Sloane and inclined his head to the doorway and walked out, her following in his wake. (Reply by Saleke,Sloane) (posted by shawn) ===================================================================== (USS Rosenante Trade Winds Lounge, COPS Lieutenant Tom Jackson Day 6 -2030) Tom Jackson was relaxing in the Trade winds Lounge. The past dew few had been hectic and he had been ordered to take some 'down' time by the FO and CO Tom used his time to finish up some reports and consider what to do once the current mess was cleared up. Jackson had known Captain Salid since their academy days. He was confident that Ahmed and Josh would pull them through the current situation. Tom had ordered some Old Earth German lager. He had a distant related on his mom's side that had served in U.S ARMY in West Germany on earth back in the 20th century and this distant cousin named Bill had developed a life long love of the brew. The Ferengi waiter was a friend of his step-dad's and always made sure Tom had plenty of the lager available. He smiled as he he thought about his step-dad Pez. The Ferengi was more hew*mon than he cared to admit publicly. Besides, he loved his mom deeply and she him. Gronk returned and asked Tom what he wanted to have to eat. Jackson thought a moment. Gronk smiled - he knew this hew*mon as well as any other Ferengi could. Gronk suggested a German meal of pommes frites (Fries) , schnitzel (VEAL) and red cabbage. Tom looked at the waiter and smiled saying "Gronk, you must be a mind reader my old friend". Gronk grinned showing some sharply filed teeth and said "Good customers are as rare as latinum -- treasure them." Tom laughed - it felt good to laugh and replied ahh "Acquisition rule 57 I see". Gronk nodded and replied "Besides, one day Thomas you will have your own starship and I want dibs on the bar on your vessel" and grinned widely. Tom's look scowled a bit and he replied " I doubt that will happen but if someone makes a mistake and gives me a ship - you have a deal OK?". Gronk shook his head and said "Never reveal your doubts out loud Thomas" and walked away. Tom looked at the Ferengui as he left. ~Naw it'll never happen" and turned back to his scrumptious meal. He was ravenous and dug into the meal with a passion. AS the man ate, his mind wandered pack to the time he had spent at the academy. Tom thought of the day all senior cadets had to select the empathis of their commission would take. He had not really gave his path a lot of thought. He wasn't a neanderthal and that ruled out Security, his tactical marks were so so at the academy and that wasn't listed as a top choice either. He was not a doctor nor engineer, so his choices came down to OPS,FCO or Science or Command. On a whim he had listed OPS first then FCO and Command last. He would up with OPS. His had  been a learning process on the Nimitz , Hades and now the Rosenante. ~Maybe Pez was right and I should have stayed on his Maruader?~ he wondered to him self as he took a big slug of lager. His career choice at times bothered him. SO far his actions had not killed any of his subordinates but that day might yet come! Paying for his meal he headed to his quarters and some rest. As CMO I would have demanded nothing less." "Then since we have an understanding, I believe our 15 minutes are about to expire." Jennifer smiled again. "Indeed they are Doctor." Motioning the doctor to enter in front of her Jennifer smiled again. "Shall we?" The prisoner seemed to have taken Caskie's advice about getting comfortable serious. He was stretching out a few sore muscles in the limited space of the booth and immediately came to attention when the First officer returned to the alcove. "Permission to speak commander?" The prisoner inquired. Jennifer simply looked him up and down for a second before she replied. "Stopping you from speaking was not my intention Crewman. If you have something to say then I suggest you spit it out. However, it had better be something that will hold my intention." "I understand the position that you are in sir. And I also understand the position I am in. But can I ask you how you would expect me to handle this situation if I were your man? How long would I have to be tortured before I had shown my loyalty?" Grinning widely Jennifer circled him. "You misunderstand entirely. This has nothing what so ever to do with loyalty. Do you think for one moment that the person who passed your orders on to you will show any loyalty towards you? You are simply an expendable pawn in a rather large game of chess. Your King has deemed you as expendable and I have captured you. You are now mine to do with as I please and I will torture you until I get the answers I need." "Then with all due respect Ma'am I am not a coward and I'm not a traitor. I will do my duty and deal with the situation for as long as you've suggested. Once that time is expired, I'll be more than glad to tell you everything I know. Then I only ask that you please have mercy on me. If I had known that the name I was delivering was one of your people, I would have never delivered it." His face grew sad, then he continued, "I am ready now commander." He prepared himself. A peal of laughter rang out from Jennifer and she started clapping. "Oh bravo Crewman and very well done. And of course I am just supposed to believe this pitiful tale of yours.?" I can torture you for as long as I want and at the end you will tell me what I want to know because, what, if you had known Rosenbauer was my man you would never have allowed yourself to be so used. Pitiful. Do you honestly think given the scuttlebutt in this fleet that there is no-one on this ship that does not know that Rosenbauer is,...." Jennifer hesitated for a moment, "... Ah I remember now, my Pitbull. You really expect me to believe that there was one person on this ship who didn't know that fact. And you seriously expect me to believe this and your heartfelt story of not deliberately targeting one of my people." Jennifer smiled again. "I will torture you for as long as I feel necessary to extract the information I need crewman. And believe me you will give me that information. As to showing you mercy once you have given me that information, that will be entirely up to the Captain. He, and he alone will decide your fate." Jennifer eyed him up and down again. "Are you comfortable now? We are about to start." (Reply Wyler, Nate and Navix) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- USS Furious- Bridge - CTSO, Ensign Andrus Williams - Day 7 - 1730.5) Andrus was on the bridge - he couldn;t rest so he figured he might as well be useful. His practiced eye scanned his readouts. Engineering and OPS had gotten the Furious back into decent shape/ The weapons and shielding systems were just about full strength. Captain Saleke and Dr Galen were discussing their Furious arrival time to Hexicor Alpha system. ~only an hour or so- hmm Andrus thought idly. He wasn't privy to all the details of the mission - the discovery of Captain Haverly added yet another turn to a deepening mystery. Captain Saleek asked Andrus "Mr. Williams shield and weapons status?" Andrus re-scanne dhis readouts and reported "Shields at full capacity, weapons down to 95% Captain". (reply: Saleke) Thehe Vulcan captain issued additional orders to Andrus "Prepare security personnel for away teams to Hexicor Prime Mr. Williams, should the enemy ship already have arrived there will be damage to assess as well as an investigation to conduct. I, Commander Gralen and yourself and will be transporting over initially along with medical and security personnel. Are there any questions?" As Saleke issued his orders, Andrus had been typing commands to put those orders into effect. Andrus turned to Captain Saleke and replied "No questions SIr" and completed issuing his instructions. Williams had his Gorn assistant Rrrk take over the Tac/Sec console. Andrus headed off thbridgege to get him and his troops ready. (reply: any on Sec/Tac AWAY Team) (Posted by: Bill) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious- Bridge - CTSO, Ensign (SG) Andrus WILLIAMS- Day 7 - 1933) Ensign Andrus Williams was manning the Tactical station on the Bridge. He had been spending time making sure the shields and weapons were at their peak. OPS and Engineering had been miracle workers. Andrus's thoughts were diverted back to the here and now with the question from Captain Saleke. "Mr. Williams do you detect signs of any enemy ship in the area?" Saleke asked without taking his eyes from the view screen, his analytical mind breaking down what he saw as he spoke. Taking a moment to read the scans output, Andrus replied "None detected Sir". captain Saleke seemed satisfied enough to order the Yellow Alert to be rescinded. Andrus canceled the Yellow Alert. Hollis and Saleke discussed what the scan did reveal. The Vulcan captain made a decision and issued the following orders " "Mr. William gather your security team and notify medical to meet us in transporter room 1, all are to be armed with standard phasers. Mr. Matrix begin work on the Furious'communications array. Commander Sloane the ship is yours until I return. "Doctor Gralen with me. Mr. Tsoumada continue compiling damage reports from the surface." Having given the appropriate orders the captain slid from the chair and made for the turbo lift followed by Holis and Andrus. "Aye Captain" the CTSO replied. His fingers tapped out the commands needed and notified his security officers to report as the captain ordered. Andrus followed Hollis and the Captain off the bridge. The ceramic composite was not very forgiving of human teeth and after a chipped tooth, Cadet Ichijo finally broke herself of the habit of biting on styluses at the academy. The sickbay was all cleared out except for a few worrisome cases. The doctor decided to put some of spare time to use. There were a series of tests that could be run on a body postmortem, to see what environmental contamination that the body was exposed to before death. It could be very useful in determining what other hazards that the person experienced and where they had been. Such as the case in last series on the L-proteins, different radiations affected the body differently, such as the creation of the mutated proteins. Because they were very short lived and were not immediately necessary in the bodies’ continued existence. Kimiko doubted that it would cause little more than fatigue and/or shortness of breath and at the worst perhaps temporary anemia. What was interesting was that there was no hint of this kind of radiation in the medical archives; in fact the only mention of anything even close was a short lived experiment of the Andorians, to create a phase shift warp drive. ~Whatever that was~ And the damage to the crew’s L-proteins ~Which are remarkably similar to human proteins, was remarkably similar~ The doctor sat back and stared at the results, maybe finding what kind of radiation will help the powers that be to find a way of duplicating it. Kimiko open a channel “Ensign Ichijo to Lt Commander T'Larah” (Reply T'Larah) “I have some further data on our guests, I will forward the info to your office, tripled locked and all of that” (Reply T'Larah) “Certainly if you have any questions, please contact me, Ichijo out” (Reply T'Larah) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 2 - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 1938) The blade swung down barely missing T'Larah's face as she side-stepped out of the way. The Nauusican followed up using the momentum of the two handed blade around again this time on a horizontal plane the Vulcan blocked with her duranium/tritanium composite baton at a reverse grip in her left hand and jabbed with her trillpa and struck the larger combatant in his left pectoral, causing him to fall to one knee. She withdrew the blade and stepped back. "Your injuries require medical attention, you should yield. I don't want to kill you." she stated simply in warning. Despite his injuries, twisted ankle, broken ribs, useless arm and now punctured lung, the Nauusican showed no signs of surrendering. In a near impossible feat of strength picked him self up and began to swing the two handed sword with only his right hand, the tip of the sword traced a wide figure eight pattern in the air keeping T'Larah from approaching and forcing her to back up. About thirty feet distant a stone wall from the ancient ruins they were fighting in stood in defiance blocking her path. ~ I must get out of the defensive.~ She made her move, and knocked the blade down out of it's flight path and made a dead sprint for the ruin wall. The burly pit-fighter gave chase sensing an imminent kill. He held the massive blade in front of him like an impromptu lance intent on running the Vulcan through. She reached the wall and ran straight up it, using the cracks in the stones and mortar as footing. She reached a point over his head and pushed off, with a flip she was now behind him and his sword was stuck in the wall. She thrust with all her strength, the trillpa's slim blade finding a gap in his ring mail armor, piercing the creature's heart. The killing machine lost all his power and collapsed to the ground. T'Larah's communicator chirped. She tapped the badge opening the channel. =^= Ensign Ichijo to Lt Commander T'Larah =^= "Sullivan here, go ahead Doctor." =^= I have some further data on our guests, I will forward the info to your office, tripled locked and all of that. =^= "Ensign, I did not know, perhaps I missed the memo, but since when has Captain Salid authorized Junior officers addressing their seniors on a first name basis unless expressly allowed by that officer?" (Reply Ensign Ichijo) "It is a common mistake with those unfamiliar, though I am half Vulcan, I use the human customs in regards to surnames." (Reply Ensign Ichijo) "It was a social decision I made upon entrance to the academy. You had no way of knowing my personal social preference, but please do so in the future." (Reply Ensign Ichijo) "Thank you doctor, and if I have questions regarding your findings?" =^= Certainly if you have any questions, please contact me, Ichijo out =^= "Computer end simulation." she ordered. The dead pit-fighter vanished, followed by the ancient ruins. All were replaced by the gold on black grid of the holodeck, intent on continuing her reseach. It was sanctioned by Admiral Sadiya of Starfleet command. It's purpose is to build a shield generator capable of protecting a specialized deep penetration stellar probe long enough for it to gather significant data on the Wolf-Rayet binary pair in the Sigma Trianguli system. One of the pair is collapsing rapidly and threatens to wipe out the inhabited planet that orbits the pair. There is a pre-warp culture there and this probe may reveal information critical for extending the life of the star long enough to allow the planet's inhabitants to eventually achieve warp drive." "The computer is designed to autonomously recalibrate and adjust the shield frequencies and harmonics to maximize the probes odds of survivability. The project was taken off the primary database because of the potential military uses. Thus the high security levels for the project." Romeo allowed a slight smile then. "If you'd like captain I will gladly escort you and your people to the lab where the data and one of the remaining Bynar scientists working on the project are located. I can not stress enough captain that it is imperative that the shield and computer be recovered and returned to us as soon as possible. The repercussions of this delay will already cost us valuable time that will be unable to reclaim. Billions of sentients are depending upon this probe for their continued survival." "The prisoner in question is in the brig, and I have no reservations about allowing you to speak with him. His name is Dirax, and he is a transporter technician assigned to the station. It is not yet clear whether he was complicit with the Rosenante at this time, although I suspect that he was not. I simply have not yet had the time to verify the facts. Saleke nodded in acceptance and turned to the security personnel and Dr. Gralen. "Have you completed downloading the logs?" "Yes captain." Security officer Logan straightened up with PADD in hand. "The security logs are complete." "Beam back to the Furious and break them down completely, I want a complete review of all measures taken as well as an identification of the personnel involved in the operation." "Yes sir." The man snapped a salute and stepped away from the group and terminals as he tapped his combadge, Saleke and Holis exchanged a knowing look before the Captain turned to the remaining security personnel. " Mr. Tyler You will accompany me to the brig to question the prisoner." Turning back to Romeo he spoke. "Lt. Commander Gralen will follow you to the lab Commander and access the information in question." Over his shoulder he addressed the remaining SO. "Mr. Gant you will accompany Dr. Gralen." Romeo looked from the Captain to Dr. Gralen as Holis moved toward him and shrugged slightly. "As you wish Captain, this way Dr. Gralen." As they left the command center with the security officer in tow Saleke caught the beamout of SO Logan out of the corner of his eye. Moving then through the door with SO Tyler following. (REply: None) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hexikor Alpha Moon- Medical Center- Dr. Lloyd Stanton- Day 7 - 1959) Lloyd was relieved to finally be at the stations sickbay along with nurse Salis, a very lovely and vivacious brunette who was short, long haired and very capable in a demanding profession. Put the two together along with a curvaceous figure and a pretty face and you got a perfect ten in his estimation. "We will leave you..." " ... now doctors. Ensign Benoit ..." " .... is in the third room. The medical staff..." " ... has been notified of your arrival." With that the Bynars bowed and turned back down the hall to finish their interrupted duties which suited him fine, talking with two different people at the same instant (Literally) he found a bit unnerving. The doctor on watch who moved to greet them as they came through the sickbay doors was thankfully of a more "normal" species. "Doctor Stanton I presume." The Andorian's antenna swiveled toward him as the man stopped and held out his hand which Lloyd shook warmly. "And you are?" "Doctor Krenn, I understand you're here to see my human patient." "Yes doctor if you please." The Andorian nodded crisply. "His injuries were mostly superficial although he did sustain some cranial trauma but there was no concussion. There was some bruising from the fight and he's been a bit sore with pain in the area of three to four so I gave him some alpha inhibitors which seems to have cleared the issue up. He is otherwise hale and healthy." He inclined his head. "His sole purpose at this point seems to be in waiting on the arrival of Commander Romeo." Lloyd nodded, the diagnosis seemed quite well done. "Could we see him now please?" "Of course, this way." The Andorian led him down the hall to a suite of wards and then to a door which he passed through, Lloyd following him saw a young man wearing science, medical blue reclining on the bed. (Reply: Benoit) "Good evening Ensign I am Doctor Stanton." Lloyd held out his hand as he walked up. (Reply: Benoit) "We're from the USS Furious and just beamed aboard, I and nurse Salis heard about your scrape and wanted to check in on you." The readouts on the biobed looked good but Lloyd was always thorough, he pulled a scanner out of his bag and was turning it on as nurse Solis moved to the other side of the bed and gave the young man a smile to distract him. "How are you today Mr. Benoit?" She asked. (Reply: Benoit) Lloyd ran the scanner over the young mans form slowly starting at his head and neck. The readings clearly showed a nice bump and superficial trauma as the doctor had indicated but no neurological damage which was excellent. The bruising over the rest of his form indicated a nice little scrap that was short-lived but vicious as indicated by the evidence of repeated blows to the stomach and ribs, the blow to his skull must have put a quick end to the scuffle. After concluding his readings he closed the scanner with a snap and spoke. "Mr. Benoit exactly how did you come by these injuries? Or to be more precise why were you attacked?" (Reply: Benoit) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hexikor Alpha Moon- Medical Center- Ensign Benoit- Day 7 - 2000) Benoit was still a little shaken, and had a headache, which he was trying to ignore when the Andorian who had been treating him and a Doctor and a Nurse, he did not recognize approached. Benoit smiled. "Two Doctors approaching a patient is never a good sign." "Good evening Ensign I am Doctor Stanton." Lloyd held out his hand as he walked up. Benoit reached out and took Stanton's hand. "Pleased to meet you, Doc." "We're from the USS Furious and just beamed aboard, I and nurse Salis heard about your scrape and wanted to check in on you." Lloyd ran the scanner over the young mans form slowly starting at his head and neck. Or to be more precise why were you attacked?" Benoit breathed deeply before answering. "Well, I was told by the station commander that we were under attack, and I was to secure some equipment that I and Dr's 12 and 14..." Benoit paused. "That's the Bynar Doctors I was working with." He then continued. "We secured the door, and apparently a group of the hostiles began to circumvent the door lock. One of the hostiles entered the room and attacked me. We tussled for a while, until he got the better of me and began using my head like a rugby ball." Benoit shook his head a few times at the remembrance. (Reply Stanton, Salis, any) "Well, before I passed out, I managed to activate the deflector sheild we had been working on, and the guy who attacked me got deflected out of the room." Benoit took a deep breath. "After that I was kind of in and out of conciousness, so I don't remeber a lot of what went on." (Reply Stanton, Salis, any) Benoit continued. "Well, I seem to recall the hostiles came back, kidnapped one of the Bynars and took the equipment we were working on." (Reply Stanton, Salis, any) Benoit looked a little unconfortable. "There was one other especially pecular aspect of these hostiles." Benoit looked at the Doctor. "They appeared to be Starfleet Officers, but with customized Uniforms. I don't know what any of this means." "After that I was kind of in and out of conciousness, so I don't remeber a lot of what went on." "Understandable." Dr. Stanton agreed. "You got a good knock on your noggin. Do you remember anything else?" Benoit continued. "Well, I seem to recall the hostiles came back, kidnapped one of the Bynars and took the equipment we were working on." Lloyd sighed, there were a number of aspects of this mission he ws not privy to. "Do you remember anything about these attackers that the Captain might be able to make use of?" Benoit looked a little unconfortable. "There was one other especially pecular aspect of these hostiles." Benoit looked at Lloyd. "They appeared to be Starfleet Officers, but with customized Uniforms. I don't know what any of this means." "Customized uniforms?" The Doctor looked over at nurse Salis and she nodded and took out a tricorder which she turned on then back at the Ensign as Doctor Krenn watched with interest. "Can you give me any examples? Before you do though tell me how the Bynar Doctor looked before they beamed him out, was he conscious?" His eyes showed his concern. (Reply: Benoit) Lloyd pulled up a chair and sat next to the bed. "Would you recognize them if you saw them again and did they give any names you can remember?" (Reply: Benoit) "Thank you Ensign, that is most helpful." He looked at Doctor Krenn who's antennae were twitching with interest. "I am assuming the Captain will be along shortly and will wish to speak with you as well if you feel up to it." (Reply: Benoit) The door to the room opened and Commander Romeo stepped through, he noticed the medical team in attendance and nodded at them as he walked to the bedside. "Well Ensign I see you're getting along pretty well, have they been taking care of you?" He gave a small smile to put the young man at ease before looking warily at the Doctor and nurse from the Furious. (Reply: Benoit) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hexikor Alpha Moon- Shield generator lab- Dr. Holis Gralen - Day 7 - 2005) Holis followed Commander Romeo into the lab after a lengthy walk and turbo lift ride and on the way he had introduced himself and mentioned his point of origin to the man who on the outside looked perfectly serene and calm. Holis had dropped his shields a bit on the way though at Saleke's unspoken request and could discern that Romeo while outwardly confident was a bit edgy and suspicious. Due to the telepathic moral laws he wasn't about to use his telepathic abilities to scan the mans mind which would be a serious breach at anything less than the Captain's orders but the empathic ability lay in a grey area and he didn't mind using it in the least. Romeo's suspicion could come from a number of different sources but Holis knew that he was the cause, Romeo was slightly unnerved by being in the company of a Betazed and suspicious of Saleke's reasons for sending the three to the lab alone. This was enough cause to arouse Holis' own suspicions, why would the man be concerned about his company unless he had something to hide? The lab was an unadulterated shambles but not from equipment thrown about willy-nilly, the spot in the center where the equipment would normally be stationed showed a gaping hole of nothing, it made the whole look empty and barren. One Bynar was puttering about over the monitoring equipment but doing very little, he showed all the signs of being efficient but directionless... or emotionally drained. SO Gant took up station by the door as the two men walked in the Bynar's direction. Romeo took the scientist/technician off to the side for a moment and explained Holis' purpose for being here while the Betazed looked over the terminals, after that the PCO sent the Bynar out of the room on another errand. Holis couldn't sense the Bynar very well but what little he did pick up was a gulf of sadness, this was obviously the partner to the Bynar that had been whisked from the station. "Now Doctor if you please." Holis back away from the terminal as Commander Romeo stepped up. "Computer unlock files regarding paratrinic shield generator and bio-neural processor on my authority, Romeo Alpha 3, 5 Tango." The man wore a smile as he did so and he had good reason, Holis could sense almost a gloating confidence that was only slightly shaded by that aforementioned suspicion. And in a flash of insight Holis was certain he knew what it meant. ~He knows we won't find anything abnormal, he knows and he's toying with us.~ [Request granted, paratrinic shield generator and bio-neural processor files open and available.] Romeo stepped back from the terminal and gave the scientist a smile. "It's all yours Doctor." "Thank you." Holis gave him a grin. "For being so forthcoming." He stepped to the terminal as he accessed the PADD and checked its file code. "Computer download selected files onto PADD FZ556348." [Order acknowledged, downloading files.] As the PADD indicator showed the linkup in progress he set the device on the terminal and turned to the PCO still wearing the grin. "I would imagine a lot goes on in this facility that is highly classified Commander, it must be a chore keeping it all under wraps. Especially since Doenitz isn't around any longer to watch over things with an iron fist." Romeo's smile didn't falter in the least but Holis could sense his suspicion deepen along with a cornucopia of other emotions as he digested the man's words. "I don't know what you mean Doctor." "I'm sure you wouldn't." Holis nodded his head. "You were given this post since the end of the civil war right?" "Yes." Romeo's brow furrowed a bit. "I was serving shipboard before this posting." "On Doenitz's side and not the 52nd though right?" "Yes." Romeo's smile slipped a bit. "Are you implying something doctor? I'll have you know that I am loyal to starfleet and the Federation." "Of course you are." Holis said as his grin widened. "So were all the men and women who served in starfleet under Doenitz as were all we who served in the 52nd fleet. We just weren't fighting on the same side. You must have served with distinction to have warranted such an important position." Romeo's confidence didn't waver in the least but it was joined by something else... anger at the Betazoids pointed comments. That wasn't the most curious emotion though, there was something else beneath the surface. "I did my job Doctor as I was ordered." Romeo's smile had disappeared and his eyes gone cold. "The litany of all those who have fought for tyrants in the past." Holis shrugged. "It must have been quite a shock to lose the war to an alliance of renegade starfleet personnel and the Klingon Empire." "Doctor I do not like your line of questioning and I most certainly will report your behavior if you continue in this vein." Romeo was no longer the cordial host but a determined officer but that was all right, Holis had gotten what he had been seeking. The officers surface control was excellent but a man can be pushed only so far before his true feelings poked to the surface. Oh... they didn't show on his face but they didn't have to as Holis could feel it welling up inside him beneath the mask he wore. Frustration and hatred. Of Holis or this new starfleet the Betazed couldn't tell but he didn't need to, it was enough to tell him what he wanted to know. "Why certainly Commander." A beep from the PADD signaled that the download was complete. "I'm sorry if I have offended you." Romeo just gave him a thin-lipped smile, the kind you use when you're trying to modulate you behavior. "Since we're through here I need to check on Ensign Benoit, I am assuming you need to return to your ship." "After I speak with the Captain." Holis said sincerely. "I'll meet with him in the brig while you go about your other duties. Thank you Commander." Romeo just nodded and turned toward the door, as he was passing the security officer Holis tapped a button on the terminal. "Computer, directions to the brig." (Reply: None) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hexikor Alpha Moon- Brig- Captain Saleke - Day 7 - 2008) Saleke and Security officer Tyler had made it to the brig with no misadventures, the guard who hailed them noticed the four gold pips upon his collar as he approached. "Captain." He nodded respectfully as they came to a stop before him. "Your business here please?" Saleke gave a single nod as he stopped before the man. "I am here to see transporter officer Dirax, I was informed he was left behind after the attack. Project Commander Romeo has already been informed of my interest in interviewing the prisoner, you may communicate with him if you see fit." "No need" The man answered. "You're free to speak with him. Follow me please." He led them into the bowels of the brig to the holding cells where the officer in question was sitting on a bunk in a small room behind a force barrier. Stopping before the cell the officer motioned with his hand toward him and stepped back. "Mr. Dirax." Salake said as he stepped forward. "I am Captain Saleke, it is my understanding you accompanied the attackers from Bardon Alpha." The fellow stood to his feet and saluted before moving to a position before the field where he stood alertly at attention. "Yes Captain it is true they brought me here from Bardon Alpha but despite the evidence I want it on the record that I refute any claims of culpability in the matter, those people were animals and brought me along for some twisted reasons of their own." "Explain." The vulcan said simply. "Those men and women were deranged Captain." He held Saleke's eyes as he spoke. "Threats and intimidation seem to be their prime operating procedure, after they had reduced the facilities defenses to nothing and beamed in they proceeded to slaughter everyone they met ... except for me, their orders were to take one person alive and I heard it spoken quite plainly before they beat me to a pulp. I have never seen such bloodlust and savagery even from a Klingon. They make Klingons look like saints in comparison since they prize honor, those creeps have no honor whatsoever, they are amoral and narcissistic and they follow the orders of their commanding officers out of fear and loathing." "And what was the name of the ship that brought you here?" The vulcan asked. "The Rosenante." The man stated flatly. "But it's no Rosenante from our Universe and if those were Starfleet officers I'll eat my uniform." The vulcan's eyebrows rose a notch. "And why do you say that?" "Because no starfleet officer Captain..." His face set in a hard line. " ... could possibly act with the viciousness these criminals acted in. I've seen men drunk, stoned and furious but I have never witnessed such barbarism on a shipwide scale or seen anyone capable of commiting the atrocities they committed with such a complete lack of remorse. Their actions were the actions of the insane like those of a serial killer and when I was brought to the station I had no choice but to accompany them, The last orders of the Commander before they beamed me back to the station was that I should be beamed into space because I was not cut out to become one of their crew, as though I had been put on some trial that I failed. Thank God! The transporter officer had mercy on me for some reason though and transported me back to the station, if not for him I would be dead right now." "Did this ship engage any other ships before warping away from Bardon Alpha?" "Absolutely not." The man stated flatly. "No red alert was ever sounded nor was there any evidence of a battle in the slightest." "What was the name of the Commander who ordered your death?" "Commander Caskie sir." He said. "And the ships CO." "Captain Salid." Saleke motioned Security officer Tyler forward and took a PADD from him then keyed it up. After scrolling through it for a second he turned it about so the tech could see the screen. "Do you recognize this man?" "Captain Salid sir." The officer said without hesitation. "If you add an angry scowl and change his uniform." "In what way?" "A jumpsuit sir, black on the bottom and red on the top with a red sash and sporting a dagger in a scabbard." Saleke pulled back the PADD and made some adjustments. "And this officer?" The man's face went white and his voice had a cold edge. "Commander Caskie sir, if you add the rest I said along with the term 'oozing blatant sexuality' as well as being a vicious bitch." "Were there any markings on any of the ships equipment you remember?" "A wavy bladed dagger piercing a galactic cluster." The man said after a seconds hesitation. "Was the UFP symbol displayed prominently at any place?" "No sir, I never saw it." There was no hesitation in the mans voice. Saleke tapped his combadge. "Lietenant Logan." =^= Logan here Captain.=^= "Are the security logs downloaded and available?" =^= Yes sir.=^= "Review the files paying particular attention to Ensign Dirax." The vulcan then proceeded to give the man a meticulous description. "I want to know what his part was in the operation." =^= A moment sir.=^= There was a long silence as the transporter officer waited nervously and hopefully. =^= Captain.=^= "Continue." =^= A man matching your description was in the raiding party but was watched closely and threatened at phaser point and hung back during the fighting. My informed opinion is that he appears to have been there against his will.=^= "Thank you Lieutenant." Saleke noted the man was standing with his eyes closed for an instant and a smile on his face before he opened them and looked hopefully at the Captain. Rather than addressing him Saleke turned to the guard. "Turn off the security field." The man thought about it a second before complying. "Mr. Dirax you will be beamed over to the Furious where you will give a complete statement regarding your enforced trip to Hexicor Alpha." "Yes sir, thank you sir!" "You will be confined to quarters until your story can be completely verified. Mr. Tyler you will accompany him." "Yes sir." With that the security guard motioned the grinning Dirax out of the cell, it was at that point that Holis was escorted back to the cells by another guard along with SO Gant. "Do you have the files Doctor?" "Yes!" Holis said. "And a little extra I want to speak with you about privately." "When there is time." Saleke said. I am on my way to sickbay to speak with Ensign Benoit." "Mind if I accompany you?" "Of course not doctor. One moment!" He called to SO Tyler as the man was tapping his combadge. After canceling the call he waited for further instructions. "Mr. Dirax would you object to having your mind scanned to verify the facts?" "Not at all Captain." The man said gratefully.
