He hoped the Doc had some good news and they would be able to work out a plan of action to aide any forces that might be trying to locate them, he couldn't believe that no one was looking for them. Sitting up on his bunk he he held his breath for several minutes so his face flushed a little. He crossed his arms across his stomach in an attempt to appear to be in pain. After he bagan sweating from the effort he resumed his normal breathing pattern and called out to Fornix. "Hey Fornix." Ben said trying to make his voice sound a little strained. "I think something in that sandwich disagreed with me." Making an audible groan he added. "I'm suffering from severe abdominal distension, I think it might be an acute condition. I need the EMH." Ben waited for Fornix to come and check up on him and then summon the Doc. He started to gently rock back and forth on his bunk. Hopefully Fornix would buy the rouse and call the EMH without questioning him about what was wrong. He hoped he'd have better luck convincing the quard he was sick then he did trying to convince his mother, somehow she always knew when he was acting and when he was truly ill. (reply Fornix, EMH) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, Guard, Lieutenant Fornix, Day 8-1933) Fornix had finally grown tired of speaking with the new alien and had decided that he had better start working on his other paperwork, before the end of the shift. It was certainly interesting to have spoken with him and the alien seemed friendly enough, although Fornix realized that it could very well be an elaborate ruse to gain his confidence in the hopes of garnering the security Guards assistance in the prisoner's escape. Still, he was busy filling out his report, reporting all the conversation that he could remember as accurately as possible into the PADD, when he heard Ben yell out to him. "Hey Fornix. I think something in that sandwich disagreed with me." That caught the Irlixian's attention right away. He was up and out of his chair quickly. The concern obvious on his face, especially since the human's voice sounded strained and filled with pain. Fornix wasn't complacent however. He quickly pulled his phase pistol as he approached the compartment and had it at the ready when he moved into the human's line-of-sight. "What seems to be the problem?" he asked. "I'm suffering from severe abdominal distension, I think it might be an acute condition. I need the EMH." Ben replied from between grit teeth. Fornix regarded him for a moment considering if this was some sort of ploy to aid in his potential escape. But the Irlixian authorities had assured him that the EMH would be unable to aid any of the prisoners in any escape attempt and as long as Fornix did not lower the force field separating him from the alien there should be a minimal chance that he would be at risk of attack. "Alright." Fornix finally responded with a nod, still watching the Alien for any signs of deception. "Computer activate the Emergency Medical Hologram." With a second, there was a buzz as the EMH materialized and replied to the command with his usual "Please state the Nature of the Medical Emergency." Fornix, once again, as he had earlier that day pointed to the EMH. "This human is suffering from Digestive dysfunction." he stated clearly. The EMH turned to look at Soma and observed for a few moments before responding. "I will run some tests." The EMH turned to look at the Lieutenant and moved closer to the ailing human. "Have you eaten anything recently?" he asked. (reply Soma) "I see." The EMH replied Gravely. "There is a possibility of bacteriological infection. I will need to conduct some tests." (reply Soma) "Indeed, you will Lieutenant." the EMH then turned to look at the Irlixian Guard. "As I will need to ask the lieutenant to remove his clothes, I might suggest that you move elsewhere to allow him some privacy. Besides, if there are any festering pustules as are likely with humans in the more severe stages of this sort of infection, there is a chance that the could become ruptured and put you at risk of infection." Fornix turned pale then nodded. "Very well." He replied, swallowing a lump in his throat. "I have some reports to work out anyway. Please notify me if you require further assistance." The EMH looked at the Irlixian and replied, "I assure you if I require assistance, you would be the last individual I would contact. The first would be a practicing medical doctor." Fornix snorted and then with a shake of his head turned to leave the two alone. (reply Soma) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, ATAC/SEC Soma Day 8, 1933.5*) Ben noticed that Fornix had drawn his phaser once he came into view of the holding cell, clearly he hadn't gained the guards trust. Fornix still had reservations despite his attempts to win him over. Just a little more work to do is all, Ben didn't like the idea of having to injure the guard in a break out. Sooner or later it would come. After some simple questions and even simplier answers the EMH was summoned. Fornix, once again, as he had earlier that day pointed to the EMH. Ben looked at the EMH and said, "I had a sandwich and a stimulant drink about an hour ago." "I see." The EMH replied Gravely. "There is a possibility of bacteriological infection. I will need to conduct some tests." "Guess I'll have to be more careful about what I eat when I find myself on unfarmiliar planets." Ben replied. "Indeed, you will Lieutenant." the EMH then turned to look at the Irlixian Guard. "As I will need to ask the lieutenant to remove his clothes, I might suggest that you move elsewhere to allow him some privacy. Besides, if there are any festering pustules as are likely with humans in the more severe stages of this sort of infection, there is a chance that the could become ruptured and put you at risk of infection." Ben could once again see the colour drain from Fornix's face, the thought of catching something didn't appeal to him in the least. The Doc's description of the symptoms didn't help either. Fornix turned pale then nodded. Ben held a laugh in but it escaped as a grunt that he hoped sounded like he was in pain to the guard.  Not knowing if the Doc was truely serious about him removing his clothing Ben did remove his tunic as he stood to face the EMH. After giving Fornix enough time to move out of ear shot he said quietly. "What did you find out Doc?" (reply EMH) (posted by Milo) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, EMH Mark I, Day 8-1937) "What did you find out Doc?" Soma asked. "It appears that there are a total of seven prisoners being held in this wing. Yourself and Lieutenant Masters are the senior most officers. The others include an Andorian, two additional humans, one Bolian, and one Vulcan. All have various degrees of injury, and the Andorian is unable to move without assistance. He is suffering from a broken leg which I can not treat with my current capabilities." The EMH paused for a moment and then passed the word that Lieutenant masters had given him. "Lieutenant masters is of a mind to escape as well. He asked me to convey the statement to the others that I treated. It seems that at this stage, they are all ready to escape. " "Ensign Boranma believes that the captain may be dead. He noted that she was taken away shortly after they were imprisoned and has not returned." (reply Soma) "There is something else Mister Soma." The EMH added. (reply Soma) "It is my belief that there is another Federation starship here. While treating ensign T'Nal, I overheard a pair of the guards talking about a shuttlecraft that had crashed yesterday. They mentioned the word Rosenante, which as you can imagine stood out since it is not a native Irlixian word. It is in fact the name of Don Quixote's horse, which is a very Terran reference. I think therefore that it is only a matter of time before the Rosenante crew sends a rescue team." (reply Soma) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, ATAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma-1939) "It appears that there are a total of seven prisoners being held in this wing. All have various degrees of injury, and the Andorian is unable to move without assistance. He is suffering from a broken leg which I can not treat with my current capabilities." Seven prisoners on this wing, at least he wasn't alone. The injured would cause a problem and greatly restrict the movements of any escape attempt. The Andorian would have to be carried out by a couple of the others who were more capable, that would also cut down on the defensive capabilities of the escapees. "Lieutenant masters is of a mind to escape as well. He asked me to convey the statement to the others that I treated. It seems that at this stage, they are all ready to escape. " "Ensign Boranma believes that the captain may be dead. He noted that she was taken away shortly after they were imprisoned and has not returned." "Good to know that others feel the same as I do." Ben said in response to the others willingness to break out. "Ensign Boranma is probaly right in assuming the Captain is dead. He was no doubt tortured in an attempt to gain information that would aide his captors in discovering the Medea's secrets. Fornix told me his superiors could be very unkind when it came to interrogations." Ben hoped he was wrong but experience and gut feeling told him otherwise. The Captain was most likely killed to find information, he probaly witnessed the murder of several of his crew and told the rest would share the same fate if he didn't cooperate. He most likely gave in to save the rest of his crew and when he reveiled what his interrrogators wanted to know they killed him anyway. "There is something else  Mister Soma." The EMH added. "Give me some good news Doc, as much as I'm enjoying our little conversations your beginning to depress me." Ben answered. "It is my belief that there is another Federation starship here. I think therefore that it is only a matter of time before the Rosenante crew sends a rescue team." This was encouraging news, a Federation ship was attempting a rescue. The shuttle was no doubt doing recon when it crashed. Ben thought about the ships name. Rosenante, commanded by Captain Salid if he remembered correctly.  The Doc was right, it was only a matter of time before a rescue team was sent in to free the prisoners and he was going to help in any way possible. "Thats the best news I've heard since I got here Doc. You'll have to spread the word to the others, Tell Doug help is comming and we have to be ready to get in the mix, that should help raise his spirits." Ben pulled his shirt off and placed it neatly on the bunk, noticing several dark bruises as he did. He got shaken up pretty good when his shuttle was attacked, no doubt the Irlixian's weren't very carefull handleing him when he was removed either. He streteched out to guage the degree of discomfort and found his range of motion was not impared, he'd have no trouble helping the rescue team when they arrived even if he'd have to go hand to hand. "We'd better make it look good Doc." He said. "Better get that tricorder and run a scan in case one of the quards decides to check on us." (reply EMH) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, EMH Mark I, Day 8-1939.2) "That's the best news I've heard since I got here Doc. You'll have to spread the word to the others, Tell Doug help is coming and we have to be ready to get in the mix, that should help raise his spirits." "Indeed." The doctor agreed. Ben pulled his shirt off and placed it neatly on the bunk. He stretched out for a moment. "May I ask what you are doing exactly lieutenant?" The EMH asked. "We'd better make it look good Doc." Ben replied. "Better get that tricorder and run a scan in case one of the guards decides to check on us." "Ah. I see. " The EMH replied and then like an ancient wizard of lore conjured a tricorder from thin air and began his scans. He continued this for a few more moments, but when it became apparent that the guard was not going to return any time soon, The EMH dispelled his tricorder with a severe look and then deciding that it would be best to spread the word, dismissed himself from the Lieutenants chamber to inform the others of the possibility of rescue. (Reply Jackson, Dralar, Fleet Commander Frazil any on bridge) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CONN - Lt Dralar - Day 8- 1942.5) With the mysterious word to start the clock, Dralar could feel the almost tangible edge settle in. It was part of his heritage to fight a battle and come out the victor or die trying. The blood of the Skorr Royal coursed through his vein and pulled him ever closer to the moment that combat would be joined and the hunt would begin. He understood that the battle with the Irlixians would be very one-sided, but it was also going to be inevitable. Dralar knew that these people had not learned the harsh reality of wielding the powerful phasers and other weapons that made their ships capable of destroying entire civilizations should they choose to be employed in such a manner. He knew that their concepts of battle and battle glory were still going to belong to the outmoded concept of personal glory, honor and duty to the state to follow orders without question. He also understood that today, many Irlixians were likely to lose their lives if they challenged the Rosenante to a fight. He understood the tactics that would be employed and he knew that Commander Sullivan, a trained tactician would exploit every weakness that the inexperienced Irlixian ship captain would show. He understood that the crew of the Rosenante were veterans of a war that had raged in space, between starships, as they lashed out with their energy weapons and torpedoes to bring death and destruction in their path. But most importantly he understood that the Irlixians would not know when to stop and withdraw. "Mister Dralar, Change course. Bring us close to the planet, but don't assume a standard orbit.. We are still going to remain cloaked." She commanded. "Aye captain, moving us into a polar elliptical orbit." Dralar responded as his taloned hands tapped the commands into the Rosenante's helm console and shifted the nose of the mighty vessel upwards in a wide arc towards the planet's northernmost pole. "Mister Raschen, patch us in to the planetary media feed." she said. The Security chief complied and Almost instantly the broadcast was on the main view screen There an exchange between Captain Salid and SC Rhone was displayed on the screen. The heated discussion continued, with the captain forcing his personality and will on the Irlixian leader until tensions elevated and Rhone spat the words =/=I'll have you killed for this.=\= He continued, still ranting. =/= Sevrith! Kill them and have their ship destroyed! =\= It came as no surprise then that Sullivan would choose to reveal their location and prompt a military action. Better to take the action themselves rather than allow the ships into a position against that exposed away teams on the planet. Sullivan would fight them to a standstill, doing everything that she could to safeguard her federation colleagues and shipmates; Even if it meant destroying the small Irlixian fleet that had turned back toward the planet. "I'd like to see you try Commander Rhone." Sullivan answered his challenge in a very uncharacteristic manner. "Let's give them a greeting. Disengage the cloaking device, Red Alert!" Once again Raschen responded with efficiency borne of experience and the Red Alert flashed across the bridge with the Klaxons sounding for only a few minutes as the alert went out across the ship. Raschen silenced the alarm quickly, allowing just enough to sound that the crew would be notified regardless of their disposition. "The Irlixians warships are closing position Commander." Raschen reported. Three Heavier ships are on an intercept course and are supported by six smaller vessels. The fleet has just performed a short war jump and will be within our weapons range within twenty minutes." The report was quick and effective. "Captain." Dralar added. "We will be crossing the planet's polar terminus for line of sight in ten minutes. If they extrapolate our current heading and adjust their course they will be in a position to intercept us as we cross the southern terminus of the planet. I recommend reducing speed and changing course to a reverse equatorial orbit to be in a position to attack the group from the left ventral quadrant in twenty minutes." (reply Sullivan, any on bridge) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge COPS Lt Tom Jackson - Day 8 1943) Tom sat at his normal station wondering what was going on. The First Officer was about to issue some rather startling instructions. =^= Bridge this is the transporter room. At that point she stood up, "Mister Jackson, will you please note in the log that at this time per Captain Salid's orders I am assuming command of the Rosenante as Acting Captain." she ordered. “Aye Aye Captain” Tom replied making the indicated entry in the automated ship’s log. Tom verified the change was made by asking the computer “Who is in command of the USS ROsenate?” and waited for the reply. Chance was told to “patch us in to the planetary media feed." she said. Almost instantly the broadcast was on the main view screen. The exchange between Captain Salid and SC Rhone was on the screen. The heated discussion continued and elevated until Rhone spat the words =/=I'll have you killed for this.=\= He continued, still ranting. =/= Sevrith! "Lets give them a greeting. Disengage the cloaking device, Red Alert!" Tom’s fingers flew over the keys and the mighty Rosenante appeared in all her glory – the crew at battle stations. “Captain, we are at Red Alert and de-cloaked” Jackson told the CO. (reply: Cmdr Sullivan) Tom’s guts knotted as the seconds seemed to crawl by, Tom took the initiative and ordered “Engineering this is the bridge – have damage control teams standing by” . The readiness drills had been run so many times that the crew knew what to do in their sleep. Darby was calling off steps and the engineers in the damage control teams were already reporting in. =^=Engineering this is the bridge - have damage control teams standing by.=^= Jackson's voice called out over the comm. Double check your gear, we're beaming down in eight minutes. I want everyone to have two phasers fully charged and a tricorder." said Matrix. ”Yes Sir.” Matrix handed him a PADD and he began the mission briefing. "I've created a primary, secondary and tertiary mission plan for each of you on these PADDs. We need to find intelligence on where the hostages are being held as quickly as possible...within 10 minutes is the timeline. We'll split into two teams to do so. See mission parameters alpha on your PADD. This will be our primary route. Team One will be myself and Sanok, team two Nunez and Smith." Robert nodded and looked over at Nunez. ~Well I know who I’m hiding behind if we get into a fire fight~ "The transporter chief will scan the area first to ensure no one is around. We will beam down together at the north west corridor, hopefully unobserved. This late in the day we should benefit from the lack of sunshine, but note that this building has some large windows on the exterior hallways...the same hallway we're beaming into. So stay sharp." Robert glanced at the PADD and he saw what Matrix was saying. ~Not a lot of cover. There is nothing we can do about that, just have to be more careful~ "There is a large statue at that location that should help mask our bean down. From there we'll split into teams. Team two will take the north-east hallway and proceed to the office marked A on your PADD. Scan the room and see if you can find any information, written, on computer, hologram, anything that might help us find the whereabouts of the hostages. If you do, record it and report back to me immediately. Sanok and I will proceed to office B and do the same. Avoid contact if at all possible. We need to get in and out a quietly as possible. If you have to engage anyone, use heavy stun and be discrete about it. Don't leave the bodies out in the open if you can help it." "If neither team is successful we'll move to location C...that should be the last likely place any information might be located about the hostages. Keep a keen eye out for information and any Irlixians. Once we've completed the mission we'll rally to the south-west corner marked omega on your PADD. Any questions?" "I have no questions," said Sanok. Robert shook his head feeling slightly glad that he had the marine on his team. ~Ow I feel sorry for any Irlixians’s we run into~ “Me neither Sir.” (Reply, Sanok, Nunez, Matrix, any) (Posted by Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - Combat Nurse E'Mpak - Day 8 1945) E’Mpak was waiting in sickbay. (Reply: any) (posted by:Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Civic Center, ACSO Louis Remey, Day 8-1945.5) Louis attention was focused on the erstwhile leader of the Rhone Union who was taking a determined stance while the tricorder continued it's silent meditation. Data was flashing on and off the screen on the inside of his 'spectacles' as he continued his pleased though subdued grin at the man. It wouldn't do to have him too suspicious yet as to how much they knew. The databank of the tricorder was of course tied electronically into a link with the ship and that computer was extrapolating all possible variables and comparing them with all known ships that had reported to have passed near this vicinity beginning with extrapolated age due to cellular decay and comparative aging. Next was sex, male which would narrow the list perceptibly. Scans would also take into account known medical histories and injuries such as broken bones, any organ removal such as tonsils and appendix. Known scars, blood type etc, etc. He caught the satisfaction in Salid's voice as he replied "So we have." Khoda's voice had a notable note of sarcasm as he answered the interplay between the two. "And what exactly does that mean?" Louis remained where he was, content to continue his scans as the captain stepped forward. "It means that we now know exactly who is responsible for the kidnapping of our people," His tone was one of confident accusation, determined and final. Khoda Rhone's declaration of spies caused Louis to shake his head in sarcasm, this man would play out his hand until forcibly confronted. Salid's scathing retort noting his lesser rank did not sit well with the man. ~Too bad, so sad.~ That's when the captain really started playing hardball. The renegade Starfleet officer in disguise reddened considerably around the face at the mention of the Prime Directive though he held himself in check, openly scoffing at the assertion. "Less advanced. Did you hear that, we're less advanced then they are. They have their precious federation Council and their, Prime Directive which prevents them from helping another species in need. The use it to justify their own lack of moral certitude." That's when he started to slip. "You're people came here, they started a war, and then they refused to help us. They left us here, they didn't even come looking for the ship." "Us? Or you?" The captain asked with pinpoint precision. Caught in the freudian slip the man bumbled about his answer for a moment before giving up and resorting to epitaphs. He was now growing angry while the computer was drawing nearer to a final conclusion. "How dare you." The Medea fell well within the timeframe and its crew list was being thoroughly combed by the data link. "What actually happened on the Medea?" Ahmed pushed. "How should I know it crashed." Khoda barked in anger. "You know what happened." Ahmed accused. "You've had years to study the wreckage. What happened?" The captain really pushed then, even to the point of stepping forward.. "I want you to tell me what happened. I want you to tell me now!" he continued. The supreme commander recoiled and Louis could see someone reach for his weapon out of the corner of his eye. Drawing a phaser now was liable to institute an all out firefight which they were destined to lose but his hand hovered near it as a last resort. If the Irlixian brandished the weapon it would leave him no choice, he would have to protect the captain. Salid's barked command cut through his focus on the Irlixian "I said report!" And then the man broke. "I don't answer to the likes of you any more!" Khoda screamed. "I'm not one of your Academy graduates any more! I command here! I am the savior for these people. They follow me! They'll do as I say and there's nothing that you or your damned Prime Directive can do about it." "I'll have you killed for this. Sevrith! Kill them and have their ship destroyed!" Louis' own weapon was in his hand but before he could fire the one named Sevrith was cut down from behind. He held his finger off the firing stub with sheer willpower as Salid extended his hand for the man's weapon, if he should fire... he would cut him down. But he handed it over without a word. Ann alert had been flashing during this byplay, taking in a deep breath and lowering his phaser he focused on it. "Mister Remey. If you would please." He noted the weapon the captain was holding toward him and took it then turned to 'Khoda Rhone.' The single name showing on his readout accurate to 94.3 percent according to the computer match. He wanted to bash the man's face in but restrained himself, this man was worse than a traitor, he had not only betrayed his comrades but had nearly suborned a whole planet. He couldn't hide the contempt in his voice though. "It looks as though your control over these people isn't what you thought *Lieutenant.!* Already they are beginning to understand the depths of your betrayal. What caused you to interfere in the cultural evolution of these people anyway? Were you tired of being a small fish in a big pond or did your lust for power just get the best of you?" "Every member of Star Fleet has been trained to assimilate into a culture in the event of being stranded until he could be extricated but you saw a chance to make major gains in your social standing. And don't give us any bull**** about wanting to help these people, you 'helped' them all right by jumping over normal societal and technological development, in return you have given them bloodshed and war. You gave them an authoritarian police state to crush their freedoms and sent them into space without the wisdom they would have gained over the centuries and made them a target of any belligerent space-faring race in this sector." "You gave them fusion power supplies and synthesized food and taught them how to be servants and slaves to your regime and would have extended your control over the whole planet had you been given enough time. Was it worth it? What would this culture have looked like centuries from now due to your warped design had they continued on the course you laid out for them? The damage you have already done to these people is irreversible though with Federation guidance they can still be helped along a more normal planetary and societal development and perhaps taught to live together in peace no thanks to your interference Khoda Rhone!" "Or should I say Lt. Keoi Nakamura?" (Reply: Salid, Rhone, any) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Civic Center, CO Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid & SC Khoda Rhone, Day 8-1946) Nakamura cringed at the sound of his own name. The name that he had left behind after all these years alone on this planet sounded so hollow and unfamiliar that he couldn't even begin to reconcile himself with the sound it produced n his ears. "You don't know a thing about me!" The imposter screamed! His temper flaring into a near homicidal rant, "When the Medea crashed it started a war. People were dying here because of us. They were being slaughtered all because the powers that were in control wanted access to the technology that the wreckage would offer." "You self righteous bastard!" He added, then spat on the ground, "I stood aside along with the rest of the away team watching these people being killed because of our idiocy. Entire cities were decimated, disease was everywhere alongside food shortages and unrestricted social warfare. Someone needed to stop it. I made a choice!" The man stood trembling as he stood on the stage, already he was clenching and releasing his hands. Every word was accompanied by a spray of spittle and a bulging vein in the man's forehead. "I tried to convince them. I swear I did, but they wouldn't have any of it. They wanted to stay hidden while the massacre and the bloodshed kept on happening. When Alana died, I knew I couldn't stay away any longer. I went and sought out the Union Military. I made them pay attention, when I produced a working phaser." "They wanted the technology. They agreed to my work. We built shields to protect the cities first to stop the bombardments, I saved millions! Millions. Can you say the same?" Khoda took a step towards Remey, but Ahmed interposed himself between them. The lieutenant was beyond caring. He was confessing to everything, explaining his despicable actions in minute detail. He only barely acknowledged Ahmed's presence before he continued his rant, "I shared the technology with the enemy to stalemate the war. Then I started developing other things, adapting our technology taken from the wreckage to create power and food. More lives were saved. Then I managed to force peace through superior force. Our Phasers assured us a victory that was badly needed. The other leaders they were forced to the peace table. I Ended this war, because I disobeyed the Prime Directive. I saved millions, maybe billions of these people, and they loved me for it. They Worshipped me. They built me a city and renamed their country for me, because I brought them peace and prosperity. I made them whole!" He took in a deep inhalation of breath then, "Don't you understand? In another decade I would have brought unity to these people. I can still do it. You just have to help me, give me more time. I can lead this planet into a golden age of science and exploration. Free of disease, crime and poverty. I can teach them to have a unified voice and to explore the universe and develop art and music and culture." "Through force of arms?" Ahmed asked then. Rhone stepped back and stared at the captain then, his face already reddened from his explosive pleading. "You'd subjugate them, suppress any ideas that you didn't like. You'd enslave these people and prevent them from thinking for themselves, Nakamura. You'd create a despotic government that would rot their society from within. You'd give them technology that they wouldn't truly understand and you'd make them praise you for the right to make the mistakes that nearly wiped out the human race. " "No I'd..." Khoda began, but the Captain continued "You'd force them to worship you, build monuments and temples to your benevolence, all the while fomenting resentment and discord through the fabric of their society with your totalitarian rules and skewed views of what was best for them." "You make me sick Khoda Rhone, standing here begging for forgiveness for the actions you took. For doing something that you knew was wrong from the beginning. You're a despot, who broke the most sacred rules of the Federation and you did so for purely selfish gain. You're a despicable excuse for a man and an even worse excuse for an officer." With uncharacteristic speed, Rhone burst forward towards, not Salid or Remey, but one of his own people. In an instant, he had his weapon and was raising it towards the Federation officers as he screamed, "I'll Kill you myself!" The fleet has just performed a short war jump and will be within our weapons range within twenty minutes." ~ We should give them a chance to surrender.~ T'Larah mused but kept to herself. "Captain." Dralar added. "We will be crossing the planet's polar terminus for line of sight in ten minutes. If they extrapolate our current heading and adjust their course they will be in a position to intercept us as we cross the southern terminus of the planet. I recommend reducing speed and changing course to a reverse equatorial orbit to be in a position to attack the group from the left ventral quadrant in twenty minutes." T'Larah thought, "Mister Dralar, I want those ten extra minutes and the drop, make it so." (Reply Dralar) "Mister Raschen, aim for weapons, shield generators and power junctions specific military systems. Avoid crew compartments and antimatter storage the emphasis is on disabling them, not destroying." she explained. Raschen deep in action and thought prepairing targeting programs, only nodded understanding. ~That will do, Chance.~ she thought. " Thank you Mister Raschen." ~ Less then twenty minutes to engagement. ~ T'Larah thought as the chronometer ticked away. (Reply Any on bridge, Irlixian Military) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CONN - Lt Dralar - Day 8- 1947.1) T'Larah thought, "Mister Dralar, I want those ten extra minutes and the drop, make it so." "Aye captain." The Skorr Helmsman replied, He dropped the Rosenante closer to the planet, causing the sudden spiraling action to increase their speed. His taloned hands sped across the console inputs and the Rosenante responded to his insistent caress. His eyes never left the displays, even as he was mentally calculating vectors, positions and the formation of the enemy fleet as the Rosenante slipped farther and farther behind the disk of the planet Irlix. He glanced up at the main view screen, noting with detached attention that the cities of the Irlixian civilization were almost distinguishable through the planets atmospheric cloud formations. They were small puckered scars of progress on an otherwise green and beautiful terrain, spilt occasionally by a thick winding strand of a river. This planet had seen so much warfare that there were clear signs of the devastation that could be seen even by the less sharp eye sight of the non-Skorr in the crew. Then just as quickly as he had looked up, he snapped his eyes back downward towards the console display and immediately began to enter the data needed to perform the complex maneuver that would place the Rosenante in the perfect position to ambush those that would think that they would be able to overcome the single ship that the Federation had sent to conduct the rescue of the captured federation officers. Dralar realized how much they were about to be surprised. The ship slid into a near sideways slide as the nose of the ship slid around to lead the maneuver. The affect was an arrow straight course laying exactly over the invisible equatorial division that marked the line of demarcation between the northern and Southern hemisphere. The ship bled speed as she slid, another carefully considered detail that would place the Rosenante breaking around from the disk of the planet at just the right moment. Positioned eloquently to reap havoc among the enemy ships. The maneuver when translated from his native tongue into federation standard was simple, the eagle among his prey. It's success was one of the best of all those used by the Skorr, and it's difficulty prevented all but the most skilled pilots from performing it correctly. In a moment Dralar would know if he had succeeded. "Coming out from the planet's atmospheric interference in twenty seconds, captain." He announced and then just as quickly, there they were, shooting around the edge of the planet's extended atmospheric bulge and into the flank of the enemy ships. And as expected the Irlixian vessels were moving at a depressant angle, nose down as if sailing towards the southern pole of the planet. The Rosenante was above them, behind them and to one full flank, beyond their simple firing arcs and moving into the enemy fleet like a bird of prey diving into a flock of unsuspecting birds, that were fit for nothing more than to be crushed in the claws of the superior bird. They stood no chance. (reply Sullivan, Jackson, Any Bridge NPC) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Civic Center, ACSO Louis Remey, Day 8-1947.5) Louis' own blood pressure was rising as the traitorous officer went into a rant and it was all he could do to keep the phaser in his right hand at his side. His left hand held the weapon Salid had confiscated from the Irlixian. His impassioned baiting of the man had had the desired effect, he was spitting out a confession of his crimes in exquisite detail. "You self righteous bastard!" He added, then spat on the ground, "I stood aside along with the rest of the away team watching these people being killed because of our idiocy. Entire cities were decimated, disease was everywhere alongside food shortages and unrestricted social warfare. Someone needed to stop it. I made a choice!" What Nakamura thought was less than important to him, in fact he took the name calling as a compliment and a small smile more reminiscent of a snarl worked its way to his lips as the former Federation officer threw the accusation at him.. Millions. Can you say the same?" That brought up another question that would have to be answered about the rest of the Medea crew that had survived the crash, were any still alive? Had they disappeared into the Irlixian populace or had this treacherous worm rounded them up to shut them up? Were they still alive somewhere, perhaps imprisoned or had he had them executed? At least one of them was dead according to the man, Commander Alexis Alana Rubio according to Star Fleet records. Her leadership then had kept his insane ambitions at bay for a time which would be a mark of commendation in her permanent record. When Nakamura took a step toward him Salid stepped into his way for some reason but Louis couldn't have cared less, the man continued his confession unabated. He wanted to shoot him, perhaps that was why the Captain thought it prudent to step between them, so Nakamura would continue to hang himself. "I shared the technology with the enemy to stalemate the war. I made them whole!" Not only had he subverted the 'Rhone Union' but he had doled out technology to their enemies, a fact that these people would find to be a horrifying miscarriage of justice. Not only was he a traitor to the Federation then and the Prime Directive but he had betrayed the very people who so doted on him. Had they chosen to leave him behind which was out of the question he would have had to answer to them for those crimes. ~Too bad, I wonder how they executed traitors here before he took over?~ "Don't you understand? In another decade I would have brought unity to these people. I can still do it. You just have to help me, give me more time. I can lead this planet into a golden age of science and exploration. Free of disease, crime and poverty. I can teach them to have a unified voice and to explore the universe and develop art and music and culture." The fact he was appealing to them for help turned Louis' stomach, help him continue his crimes unabated and become contributory to them? ~Preposterous!~ "Through force of arms?" The Captain asked, his own distaste evident in his voice. " "No I'd..." Khoda's explanation was quickly cut off by Ahmed. "You'd force them to worship you, build monuments and temples to your benevolence, all the while fomenting resentment and discord through the fabric of their society with your totalitarian rules and skewed views of what was best for them." "You make me sick Khoda Rhone, standing here begging for forgiveness for the actions you took. For doing something that you knew was wrong from the beginning. You're a despot, who broke the most sacred rules of the Federation and you did so for purely selfish gain. You're a despicable excuse for a man and an even worse excuse for an officer." ~Amen!~ Despite his apparent age then Nakamura leapt with a speed borne of desperation toward one of his security people, Louis wasn't caught flat footed though there was an instant of hesitation. Enough so that Nakamura had time to grab a phase pistol from the man and whirl on them. Louis was stepping to Salid's right though with his own phaser in his hand and up as the man shouted. "I'll Kill you myself!" According to Salid's orders Remey's phaser was set on stun. ~Unfortunate.~ He thought as he depressed the firing stud before Nakamura's last word had died on his lips. The blue beam of energy cut through the intervening space in nano seconds and struck the man high on the chest. He hadn't had time to adjust the setting to heavy stun so Nakamura had time to squeeze off a shot. His aim though had been utterly disrupted, his right hand flying up and back due to his body's inherent reaction to the disruptive effect of the phased energy which was similar to the nervous system's reaction to electrical shock. A man touching a live high voltage wire with his hand will have the muscles spasm and contract in a 'death grip' on the wire. Nakamura's shot then went into the roof of the shelter that had been erected here even as he crumpled to the platform and curled up and went rigid. Louis stepped toward Nakamura to ascertain his condition and saw him move weakly, more of an autonomic function though than voluntary . An Irlixian reacted to his movement. raising his own weapon but paused as an official that had been standing behind Nakamura stepped forward to stand over him. "Lower your weapon!" The security man looked in confusion from the official to Louis then grudgingly lowered the phaser. The official nodded in satisfaction then looked down at Nakamura, his face twisted in anger and he spat on the platform beside the man's head. "You bastard! We did everything you asked, even executing the aliens in our midst who you claimed were subversive elements. They were your own people! You used us to cover up your crimes!" "And you made us complicit in your treason against your own kind! Not to mention betraying us to our enemies! Is there no end to your treachery?" He made a strangled sound as he stood over Nakamura and his fingers flexed as though he wanted to wrap them around the helpless man's throat. After balling them into fists his head snapped back up and his gaze locked on Captain Salid. "Take this animal with you! He is not one of us and the last of the Medea's crew. The rest are dead, killed on his orders. He told us where to find them and we took them as criminals and he sat in judgment over them. His crimes committed against the people of the Rhone Union..." He spat out the government name as though about to vomit on it, "...pale in comparison to the breach of faith and brutality which he committed against his own people and he should be tried by his own." He kicked away the phaser that had fallen from Nakamura's hand as he stirred slightly. "I hope his death sentence is carried out slowly." (Reply: Salid) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Civic Center, CO Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 8-1948) Things unwound exactly as Ahmed had envisioned them. He had come to an early understanding that the traitor had to be very high up in the Irlixian government. The level of complicity and the degree of the subversion of the natural Irlixian culture could have only come from someone very high into the government. He gave Remey a nod of thanks after he had dropped the Federation officer turned megalomaniac and then turned his attentions towards the crowd and those on the stage. If there was going to be a serious incident, now would be the moment. The room however remained still as Remey check on Nakamura's condition. "How is he?" The captain asked quietly but before Remey could respond an Irlixian Official stepped forward. It was apparent by his body language and his actions that he was angry beyond belief. "Lower your weapon!" he barked and Ahmed's eye tracked towards the Irlixian guard who had raised his phase pistol towards them. The security man looked in confusion from the official to Louis then grudgingly lowered the phaser. The official nodded in satisfaction then looked down at Nakamura, his face twisted in anger and he spat on the platform beside the man's head. "You bastard! We did everything you asked, even executing the aliens in our midst who you claimed were subversive elements. They were your own people! You used us to cover up your crimes!" He kicked away the phaser that had fallen from Nakamura's hand as he stirred slightly. "I hope his death sentence is carried out slowly." "I assure you he will be punished." Ahmed stated. "But even he will receive a fair trial. He'll be given the chance to justify his actions and to present the facts. It's the way of our people. That even the accused can throw themselves on the mercy of our courts." The official kept staring at him as Ahmed continued, "But he was not the only reason that we were here. There are several of our officers kidnapped and held prisoner by your government. I want them released." The official's anger flared for a moment, but Ahmed stood his ground. "We also have an obligation to you and your people, to attempt to help you right the injustice that our man has done to your people and your society." "Go on." The official stated. "I am authorized to act as an ambassador at large for the United Federation of planets. Because of the actions of Khoda Rhone and the support that your government has exercised in doing his bidding, we have now a DeFacto state of war between our people. By that I mean between the Irlixians as a species and those belonging to the United Federation of Planets." "I am in a position to offer you a cease-fire until such time as a duly appointed representative government which can speak as a whole for the Irlixian people can be formed and can establish a more permanent and lasting peace treaty." "I see." the Irlixian said, his eye narrowing. "And if we refuse?" "Then a state of war will exist between us indefinitely. It will be easy for the United federation of planets to restrict the influence and development of Irlixian exploration and military assets beyond this solar system. But before we do that we will systematically destroy any remnants of technology that was stolen from us." The Official's eyes got big. "And before you consider whether we have the ability to do so, consider that even now as we are speaking, a single Federation starship is neutralizing the effectiveness of your entire space fleet. I not only have the military capability to enforce this decree, but I have the willingness to limit further contamination of your species by allowing you to continue on the road that Khoda Rhone put you upon." "You'd blackmail us?" He asked then anger still in his voice. "No." Ahmed replied as he shook his head, "I would return you to the state that you were in prior to the betrayal and the war. I would strip away all technological advances that you had received at the bidding of Khoda Rhone. I would force you only in as much as you would need to reorganize the world that you live in with those that you share it with. But if you accept my offer of a cease-fire, we as only a few concessions, which will help you develop associated technology and make the technology that you have already acquired safer and more widespread." "We wish to encourage your further development, but we want you to do it at your own pace and not at the pace that we set for you. We only ask for a few minor concessions." "And what concessions would those be?" He asked then. "We will only deal with a unified planetary government. That is the first concession. " "Secondly, we will require a permanent embassy opened on this planet where an Irlixian of our choice will be our official representative here until such time as a unified and stable planetary government is in place." "And finally, there will be a complete disarmament of all Irlixian military forces on the planet, and that the Irlixian Governments will not secretly or openly attempt to militarily subvert their neighbors in the establishment of their planetary government. Once such a government is in place and stable, you will be permitted to rearm for the defense of your species upon the formal adoption of a permanent and long-lasting peace treaty with the United Federation of planets." "And how will be defend ourselves?" "Against outside threats, you'll have no need to do so, as the United federation of planets will put you into a protectorate status, which will entitle you to scientific, medical and social benefits as well as to military protection of your world to protect you from outside attack. We will not place any troops on this world, nor will we dictate law, policy or any other agenda for you other than what we have laid out here." "Once you have unified and proven stable, we will allow you to establish a peace treaty with us, to our mutual benefit and you will be permitted to move forward without any further obligation to the us, as your obligations would then be complete." "But before any of this can be done, I want our people released, our ships returned and all hostilities to be ended." Ahmed stated. The official considered things for a moment before Ahmed added, "Of course we can easily approach all the other leaders of the planet, should you decide to turn us down. I'm certain that one of them would like to take the lead in such an offer and that when you saw the benefits that they would enjoy from working together instead of warring against their fellows that you would feel foolish to have turned us down." The official nodded. "I will accept your terms, but I can not order the release of your people or ships. The facilities where they are held, and the fleet are both commanded by loyalists who obey every whim of Khoda Rhone's mind." Ahmed nodded, "Very well. But you must not interfere any further with our attempts to recover our people or our ships." The official nodded. "You have my word." "Then show me you are trustworthy and secure Khoda Rhone and see to it he remains unharmed. We will take him back with us to the ship. For the moment we must discuss things, and that will require us contacting the other leaders of this world." The Official nodded. "I understand. We can retire to the Government buildings." "Very well, " Ahmed added, then looked at Remey. "Mister Remey will be accompanying Khoda Rhone until such time as we return to our ship. (reply Remey) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Govt. HQ -ASEC, Ensign Marta Nunez, Day 8 -1951) The hum of the Rosenante's transporter beam sounded in the otherwise silent and empty corridors of the Government offices that had become the target of the Away team's insertion. Dawson and his team had been monitoring the displacement of personnel inside the target area, and once everything was suitable had transported the away team down to their target area. As promised there was a large floor-to-ceiling statue of Khoda Rhone standing against the interior wall of the statue. It was facing the smoke-colored glass windows that looked out over the government building's courtyard, two floors below. The Hallway was filled with pieces of exotic art on the interior wall, and the short corridor stretched between two offices, one on either end of the hallway. Marta, turned to review the rest of the corridor and gave her team mates a nod. She then turned to Smith. "Let's go." She said as she turned to head down the hallway towards their target office, leaving Matrix and Sanok behind. The Office door was heavy wood, from some native tree that had a dark rich coffee color intermingled with flattened oblong lighter shades of khaki tan. The trappings on the door were polished brass. They were locked with some sort of card access key system. The away team had expected some level of technical security, and as such Smith had prepared accordingly. Marta stepped aside to let the operations computer expert at the door to work his magic. "How long?" She asked, ready in case the door suddenly opened unexpectedly. He watched as she turned and moved down the corridor. He moved noiselessly behind her his eyes scanning the hall way for anything suspicious. He ignored the art and other cultural artefacts that were on display, as this was not the time for sight seeing. Nunes stopped in front of a large heavy door in the main corridor which was an impressive deterrent.   "How long?"   Robert looked at the door as he slid his pack off his shoulder.   “Give me a moment he muttered.”   "As soon as we get this door opened we'll split two teams." said Matrix    "Looks like there are two separate hallways just past this door.”   He quickly opened his pack and pulled out the tricorder and scanned the door for any extra security devices which he found none.   ~Well that’s good~   "Smith and Nunez...head left and to office A as instructed, Sanok and I will head right and check out office B. Be careful and report any findings immediately." Said Matrix.   He placed a small flat device beside the door’s lock and pressed the button. The device began to flash rhythmically until it turned green and Robert heard a soft click. He pulled the device off the door and nodded to the others.   He pushed the door open slowly and pecked through. Not seeing anyone he carefully moved through the door to see the two hallways in front.   He waited for Nunes to take point before they headed down the left corridor towards office A.   (Reply Sanok, Matrix, Nunez, any) (Posted by Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Govt. Dizziness often prevailed too, but they had a job to do so there was no time to contemplate personal issues. The adrenaline started to flow, Matrix swing around facing one of the hallways anticipating a response from anyone whom might be in the area. The transporter chief assured him that the area was clear...a reaction or good posturing. Nonetheless there was no one visible and no alerts of their presents as yet. Matrix unconsciously rubbed his left shoulder and adjusted his mission pack and looked up at the huge office complex walls and door leading into the main office labyrinth. Matrix was in awe of the office complex almost immediately. The culture it represented was of great interest to him...if only the circumstances were different. The large heavy door into the main corridor was an impressive deterrent. "How long?" Nunez asked. Matrix let the operations maven reply. "As soon as we get this door opened we'll split two teams." said Matrix as he rotated the calibration knob on his tricorder. "Looks like there are two separate hallways just past this door. Marta gave him a quick nod, her Marine training kicking in to give sound discipline. A few moments later the door slid open with an almost inaudible click as Smith managed to defeat the lock. Marta was through the door quickly, her phaser up in a ready position and her eyes quickly scanning the corridor for potential security risks. She saw no one and that concerned her at least a little. She signaled to Sanok and Matrix that they were all clear. And then led the way down the hallway towards the unknown that lay behind the door to office A. Unlike the door to the corridor that Smith had been forced to defeat, this door was not locked in fact it was unsecured in any way and Marta quickly and quietly stepped into the opulent office and motioned for Smith to enter in behind her. The ex-Marine swept the room with her eyes. What they saw was a few PADDS and a elaborate computer system that seemed to be built around a primitive version of an LCARS display. The desk looked as if it belonged to some one of some importance, maybe not the head of the empire, but at least someone on his staff. With a shift of her eyes and a hand gesture, she directed Smith towards the computer monitor to start looking into things. She was no computer expert, which was why smith was along for the ride. His skills were so far beyond her own in this particular field that she felt like a child in comparison. Still there was more to do than simply wait for him to hack into the system. There were two rooms to explore that were connected to the central most office that they occupied. Both were behind closed doors and unfortunately were on opposite sides of the central office. Her instincts told her to head to the door on the right rather than the one on the left and she made her way across the room moving as quietly as she could without sacrificing speed. She crept up to the door and gently pushed it open. In the room beyond there were all sorts of old-style filing cabinets lining the walls. Some sort of archives that were maintained for security purposes in the more secured hardcopy format. An initial glance around the confines of the smaller room at first led her t believe that the compartment was empty, at least until her eyes landed on a steaming cup of liquid. The steam indicated that the person who had left it behind was still close by, and in fact a short cough from the back of the room seemed to confirm her suspicion. Marta moved slowly into the room, expecting at any moment to encounter some Irlixian bent on causing her or her shipmates harm. The stories of the Irlixian government's stance against members of their own people was well known. The things they would do to an alien were only surmised, but the thought didn't seem as if it would be pleasant. The room was deceptive. Instead of being a rectangular room as it appeared from the doorway, it was in fact 'c' shaped. The clerk was standing with his back to her as she rounded the corner, his eyes firmly locked onto some documents of some sort that seemed to have his complete attention. Rather than risk the sound of her phaser in the small compartment in possibly alerting anyone that may be nearby, Marta silently placed it on her belt and moved forward on stealthy feet. He didn't even know that she was there until her arms had encircled his throat in a traditional sleeper hold. He was taller than she and so Marta decided to even up the playing field, using her instep to kick the taller being in the back of the knee causing it to buckle. His balance now shot as he struggled to grasp her arms and clear his breathing He pitched forward and when Marta repeated the kick to his other knee, he fell completely forward suspended then only by Marat's sheer strength and unwavering marine training. Near the last few moments of his consciousness, he tried to grab at her face and hair, but Marta had known to expect that maneuver and she easily avoided those grasping fingers. With a few kicks and spasms the Irlixian finally collapsed and Marta lowered him to the floor. A quick rummaging in her security kit netted her a sedative slap patch. It had been formulated by Medical for just such an occasion and it guaranteed that the clerk would not be awakening any time soon to raise the alarm. Marta straightened her uniform, checked her equipment and cleaned up any sign of a struggle, even going so far as to tidy up the records that the clerk had scattered around the room. She replaced the stuffed file folder on the top of the filing cabinet and then just as quietly as she had entered she exited the room, pulling the door closed behind her as she went. The entire affair had only taken a few minutes but Marta knew that she till had another room to clear. As she passed through the office, where smith worked diligently on his project, she asked him, "Any luck yet?" (reply Smith, Matrix, Sanok) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Govt. HQ -ACEO, Lieutenant Steven Matrix, Day 8 -1956) Smith managed to get the main door open and he watched Nunez take point and a few moments later she signaled that the room was clear. Matrix acknowledged Nunez and directed Sanok to office B while Nunez and Smith proceeded to office A. The corridor wasn't well lit which helped to conceal the two teams. Matrix lead Sanok down the west side of the interior, it was curved not square as intelligence indicated. Matrix glanced back in the direction of team two and got a glimpse of them disappearing into the darkness. Matrix enabled his tricorder and initiated a area scan in all wave spectrums. The quad-pulse modulated surface scan produced a good layout of the office area within 20 meters. He could clearly see a birds eye view of the office complex. Office A indicated no security issues, but it was unclear if anyone was inside. Matrix knelt down at the office entrance and opened the door slowly...it was not locked and was dimly lit. As Matrix opened the door he motioned to Sanok to proceed in behind him. "Sanok, check the computer console over on that desk. I'll check the records and displays on the other side of the room." Matrix said quietly. (Reply Sanok) The room was much larger than he had expected with many bookshelves filled with books and waist high tables with papers, books and archives. Matrix made his way slowly to the left side of the room and started around one of the larger bookshelves when he heard paper rustling just a short distance ahead. Matrix crouched lower and turned slightly to see what was around the bookshelf. There was a man sitting at the table looking over some sort of documents. Matrix carefully pulled out is PADD and signaled Sanok of the threat. Matrix decided to back up and move around to the other side of the room and make a larger sweep back toward the Irlixian at the table. As he turned he could hear at least two voices at the table. There was no time to backtrack and sweep around the room. Matrix pulled up his tricorder and initialed another pulse scan...he could make out details of the room, bookshelves, tables and chairs...and likely three Irlixians at the table. ~Oh hell~ thought Matrix. Matrix stood up behind the bookshelf and tucked his tricorder in his backpack. With his left hand he pulled out his second phaser. His right hand pulled the other phaser from his waist holster. He had no idea what a typical Irlixian could take, but he didn't want to kill anyone unless he had to. The image of Irlixian he vaporized back in the village flashed in his mind. Matrix lowered both phasers to his side and took a deep breath and rounded the corner. As he turned the corner he could make out three Irlixians all in uniform. Two of them were facing him from across the table and looked up almost simultaneously. Their hesitation gave Matrix enough time to assess the treat. The larger of the two stood up and reached for a weapon. As he did so Matrix raised the phasers and fired. The shot dropped the Irlixian to the floor, the other Irlixian facing Matrix seemed to be in shock and simply put up his hands. The Irlixian who had his back toward Matrix had readied a weapon, but did not move. Matrix concentrated his view on the man now standing with his hands up, watching his eyes. He could see that he made eye contact with the other Irlixian and his expression changed to almost a smile. Matrix surmised that the man sitting was about to make a move. Matrix moved to the man's right. Just as he did the man turned abruptly to his left and pulled out the weapon, Matrix fired the phaser in his left hand and the man dropped to the floor. The remaining Irlixian remained standing with his hands in the air. (Reply Sanok) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - aCO - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 2009) The Rose was mere moments away from crossing the equatorial terminus and engaging the Irlixian fleet. "Mister Raschen, ready the phasers and torpedoes. Mister Dralar prepare for violent evasive and tactical maneuvers. Mister Jackson start the computer invasion countermeasures." she ordered. (Reply Dralar, Jackson, any on bridge) The whole bridge replied that they were ready. The fleet was caught briefly on the sensors before the ship crossed the planet's horizon. The larger vessels were using the smaller ones as a sort of forward barrier, to engage first and soften the Rose up for their follow up attacks. Their formation however showed that they still expected the Rose to show up at the polar orbit. "Mister Dralar, plot a course straight through them, I want a dorsal Theta tactical pattern. Follow through with a Beta maneuver." she instructed. (Reply Dralar) "Mister Raschen fire at as many targets as you can use the torpedoes on the large targets and the phasers on some of the smaller ones, if you have a choice between a large and a small target, choose the large." she said. Chance nodded his understanding. The Rose climbed slightly to get a better angle then dove sharply straight through the middle of the enemy formation. Dralar's idea had worked to gain the upper hand for now. A full spread of photons lead the way. Miniature crimson stars slammed into the shields of the larger three ships as lances of orange energy thrusted out from the Rose at all angles scoring hits against all it's targets. Dralar's maneuvers twisted, turned and rolled the Rose at nearly impossible angles. As the Rose exited the other side the Irlixian formation scattered clearly confused at the unexpected turn of events. "Dralar, Beta 3 to port. Give us a shot on the large vessels' aft." she ordered. (Reply Dralar) The Rose started a broad arc to port. Her mighty impulse engines propelled her around to the formation's back side, luckily the larger vessels were not as maneuverable as the smaller ones. "Mister Raschen Torpedoes, fire." she ordered. A full spread of ten torpedoes launched from the forward launcher speeding at 0.95c hitting the three larger vessels almost instantly. The resulting impacts plumed into several orange blossoms and collapsed the rear shields. An indicator on the center chair revealed this fact. "Phasers, disable the closest vessel now." she said. Chance's aim was perfect three beams tagged the closest vessel one on each impulse engine and one on the amidships power transfer conduit. She wasn't going any were. The Irlixian vessels now had recovered from the attack and had swung around to an attack vector. (Reply Dralar, Jackson, any on bridge) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Transporter Room 3 - SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer, Day 8 - 2010) Mike and his team waited patiently, if not with at least a little anxiety for the word to come that they had information concerning the locations of their fellow countrymen and that they would be able to gain entrance to the holding location. For the Ex-Ranger, that information couldn't have come too soon, and he could see the same level of anxiety in those around him. With an away team consisting of one security officer, one engineer and two medical personnel, it was clear that there was going to be a tactical disadvantage for his team should they find themselves too heavily engaged with the enemy. Their immediate mission then would be to quickly locate and free any of the personnel that were assigned to the Bohrs, Arm them and absorb them into their unit to better their chances. It was a bold and daring maneuver, gambling the complete success of the mission on the intelligence gained and the ability of the very small insertion team to utilize that intelligence quickly and efficiently. Dawson looked up from the transporter console with a smile on his face. "Sir." He said. "I've just received coordinates for the holding areas where the prisoners are being held. And Lieutenant Matrix and the ship's sensors have confirmed that the facilities shields are down. With the Magnesite there, I'll have to beam you into an area about three hundred yards from the holding blocks. You'll have to make your way from there." Mike nodded. Then turned to his team. "Okay everyone you heard the man. Get into position. Phasers set for heavy stun." He stepped up onto the platform and drew one of the phasers that he was carrying. He double checked the setting as the rest of his team fell into place. With a quick glance around to ensure that everyone was in position, Mike looked back up at Dawson and ordered, "Energize" (reply Ichijo, Lopez, O'Neill) (Irlix- Seliya Facility Corridor -SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer, Day 8 - 2015) As the team was reassembled at their destination, mike quickly took aim on a pair of security guards whose attention had been captured when they had heard the unfamiliar whine of the transporter beam. His Phaser buzzed twice as he struck each of them in the center of the chest and dropped them in the corridor where they stood. "O'Neill, Which way?" He asked quickly. (reply O'Neill) "Okay, Lopez, Ichijo. You follow us and make sure nothing attacks us from behind. We need to get to those prisoners quickly." (reply Ichijo, Lopez) "Let's move out." Mike ordered and the team started moving down the corridor hoping that matrix and his team were able to get aboard the Bohrs and get it operating, otherwise this was going to be the shortest rescue in history. (reply Lopez, Ichijo, O'Neill) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - 2010) The pace on the bridge picked up as the Rosenante neared the point of it being seen by the Irilixan battle cruisers. Commander SUllivan began issuing her orders for the upcoming engagement. Chance Raschen was working away at Tactical. Sullivan turne dher attention to Tom Jakcosn. She ordered "Mister Jackson start the computer invasion countermeasures." . Tom smiled, he had designed what he thought was a novel encryption system. "Aye Aye Captain" and Jackson punched in the newly devised program called Curlyhoward53. The system switched over to the encryption system 0 only he knew the passsword to return things to normal. Chance had been cleared to fire on the approaching Irilixan ships. As always his aim was letter perfect. Torpedoes and phaser fire smashed into the in-coming vessels. The Irilixans vessels began to deploy into attack formation. Initial shots were minor hits. Tom checked the statuses of their shielding. "Minor hit on port forward shields - shields holding Captain" Jackson reported. The doctor reflected on the situation as far to keep her mind of the dangerous task ahead. In one of the lectures “studies of external interferences in developing cultures” at her final year in Starfleet; the students studied impact of higher evolved cultures on nascent cultures. Kimiko entertained a few doubts on the definition of a “higher evolved culture”, but declined to share them with the less-than-receptive professor. It was interesting how it seemed that the interference begins with the best of intentions and then devolved to a totalitarianism state that would make John Gill proud. ~case in point~ The ensign thought as she stared at the planet on a screen. ~I am curious what lessons this culture skipped. One of them is the atomic dilemma, that I am sure~ That was a term introduced by her instructor, for the moment that societies’ technology meets a threshold of mass destruction and casualty, and the decision either to abstain or continue on the self destructive path, such as atomic bomb detonation over Hiroshima or graviton pulse emitter on Vol’weg. The world that the Ensign stared at, had the ability to destroy itself in an instant, but had not paid the price of that knowledge and would not understand the cost. ~children with grenades ~ the doctor thought coolly "Sir." The transporter chief said. "I've just received coordinates for the holding areas where the prisoners are being held. And Lieutenant Matrix and the ship's sensors have confirmed that the facilities shields are down. With the Magnesite there, I'll have to beam you into an area about three hundred yards from the holding blocks. You'll have to make your way from there." Mike nodded, looking at the team, he stated. "Okay everyone you heard the man. Get into position. Phasers set for heavy stun." Kimiko loped up to the transporter pad, she pulled out her phaser and reset it to heavy stun, having been hit with a heavy stun beam before, she shivered. ~That is a heavy hauler, I don’t want to get hit with again~ she almost felt sorry for guards that meet with Matrix’s team. Mike stated, "Energize" “Once more into the breach, dear friends, once more” Kimiko murmured as she dissolved into a mist of glowing particles. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 3 - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 8 - 2011) The suspense was killing him. He shifted from one foot to the other, played with the loose strap on his pack, and switched the phaser at his waist from setting 7 to setting 6 and back again, repeating the movements to keep his mind as occupied as possible. But it was failing. Just when he was considering going into his Focus Retention World where he could finish out the scene of George Washington attacking the Hessians in Trenton, NJ, Dawson spoke. "Sir, I've just received coordinates for the holding areas where the prisoners are being held." ~Praise the Lord, it's about time.~ "And Lieutenant Matrix and the ship's sensors have confirmed that the facility's shields are down. With the Magnesite there, I'll have to beam you into an area about three hundred yards from the holding blocks. You'll have to make your way from there." ~Sounds doable...~ "Okay, everyone, you heard the man," Rosenbauer said. "Get into position. Phasers set to heavy stun." Eian took his phaser out of its holster and checked the setting. He fully expected to have to adjust it after playing with it for the past fifteen minutes or so. ~Hey, landed on six. Sign of good luck, perhaps.~ "Energize," Rosenbauer said, and Eian felt himself dematerializing. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- transporter room 3- ACMO Ensign Sam Lopez-day 8- 2012) Sam and the away team had been waiting for a long time to get underway and waiting was hard. Then the call came for the team to get down to the surface.~hopefully everything goes as planned~Sam thought as the transporter took him away. Mister Dralar prepare for violent evasive and tactical maneuvers. Mister Jackson start the computer invasion countermeasures." Sullivan ordered. "Aye sir." Dralar replied along with the rest of the bridge crew. The ships moved closer and closer until they were suddenly clear of the planet's disk and in a prime position to attack. "Mister Dralar, plot a course straight through them, I want a dorsal Theta tactical pattern. Follow through with a Beta maneuver." she instructed. "Understood Commander," Dralar replied, as he tapped out the commands that would turn the Rosenante from a hunter into the nightmare that the enemy would never forget. The federation starship twisted downward in an almost spiraling dive straight through the bulk of the Irlixian military forces, which were arrayed in a classical picket and capital arrangement more reminiscent of ancient naval tactics than modern starship formations. The Rosenante tore through the enemy formation like a bird of prey tearing at a flock of pigeons. Raschen fired the ships weapons and the ensuing limited return fire from the Irlixians did more damage to their own ships than it did to the Rosenante. The theta pattern complete, Dralar shifted the ship in a jagged series of erratic evasive maneuvers that would make targeting difficult even for a modern starship's advanced targeting systems, let alone for the Irlixians. "Mister Raschen fire at as many targets as you can use the torpedoes on the large targets and the phasers on some of the smaller ones, if you have a choice between a large and a small target, choose the large." she said. Chance nodded his understanding. "Dralar, Beta 3 to port. Give us a shot on the large vessels' aft." she ordered. "Beta 3 port Aye, sir." Dralar replied and quickly jerked the Rosenante into an unpowered wide port side slide and bank as it rolled to bring the bulk of the rosenante's weapons to bear. The ship's superstructure groaned as the Structural Integrity fields struggled to compensate, but the Skorr helmsman knew exactly how much this ship could take and the Rosenante stopped her protesting a few moments later as the ship aligned itself along a new vector along the back quadrant of the enemy formation. They were compensating for the erratic maneuvers of the Rosenante by flooding the entire section of space with as many phaser blasts as they could manage. The Rosenante rocked slightly as a few blows hit her shields. "Minor hit on port forward shields - shields holding Captain" Jackson reported. "Shields at 90%." Chance confirmed. During the Tactical report more shots struck the shields. The Irlixian vessels started their attack now in earnest, organizing their fire into an even more cohesive broadside that had found their range. "Mister Dralar, evasive maneuvers." she ordered. "Evasive Aye," The Skorr replied and then twisted the rose along her long-axis, as he turned her into a planet ward upward dive. The maneuver was a good one for avoiding targeted fire, but not so great for wild saturation fire like they were receiving from the Irlixian picket ships. "Shields at 70" Chance said. "Aim for the small vessels, take them out of the equation, fire at will." she said as the Rose rocked from enemy fire. Raschen's hands danced across the tactical panel, sending another spread of torpedoes, followed by a barrage of phaser fire. Six vessels dropped out of the fight. Either too damaged to continue or disabled from power feed-back. With their attentions turned to the smaller vessels, the two remaining larger ones managed to swing around and make an attack run. Both vessels strafed the dorsal shields of the rose with a heavy wallop as they flew by. "Dorsal Shields at 10%!" Chance yelled over the noise of the impact. "Mister Dralar, full impulse away from the planet, give us some room to maneuver." Dralar tapped out the orders even as he replied to them. His clawed hands making fast work of the angles and vectors that he'd had to calculate into the console. There were a lot of calculations he had to enter and before he was finished, a invigorated Irlixian attack slammed into the ship, causing a power surge that blew out several of the rear stations. Dralar rolled the ship and narrowly avoided a collision with one of the Irlixian picket ships who had seemed intent on ramming them. The proximity alarms sounded as the Rosenante rose up and over the enemy vessel so close that Dralar could make out the seams of the hull plating that protected the smaller ship. The Skorr helmsman now having more room to maneuver engaged the impulse engines and cut away from the advancing enemy vessels to avoid further incoming fire. Raschen had apparently been injured and Jackson at the Commander's orders had assumed the tactical station. The Rosenante although hurt was still more than combat capable. Her weapons became instruments of wrath as Jackson scathed the enemy ships with blistering weapons fire. "Dralar, lets see how fast they can run, warp one any safe heading away from the planet, engage." "Aye warp one." Dralar responded. And tapped in the coordinates and engaged the drive, all the while Jackson laid down their covering fire. The Rosenante came off the line like a world class athlete looking to make a new record. The Irlixian ships, less so. They had to reorient themselves to pursue and at least two of them lost all their drive when they tried to follow. Two larger ships made the best time and Dralar reported, "We have the three larger ships in pursuit. They are gaining, they will be within weapons range in 10 minutes at their current rate of speed." (Reply Dralar) Before the manuever started the three smaller ships had managed an attack formation and hammered the dorsal shields. The Ranger in him understood the need to respond immediately to such things. The other two doctors however were not as highly trained as either of the security men. "Fifteen meters ahead, Sir, around that corner. Three life signs, none of them are moving. They look to be stationed outside the doors." Mike nodded. "We move carefully, hit them quick and stay frosty." he ordered. Eian nodded and moved forward in a manner that belied his advanced tactical training and exquisite muscle control. The man was a potential predator, although not as hard as some of the men that Mike had fought or fought alongside. It was a reassurance to know that there was another soldier on his team. That meant that Mike could count on him remaining calm and handling the situation coolly and professionally when the mess struck the fan. There was a quick nod and Eian shifted out from the corner as he raised his phaser. As he moved mike leaned out as well and fired. Eian took down one of them, Mike managed the other two. ""Nice," he complimented. "We're clear for another hundred yards." "Good, let's keep moving." They passed a few doors along the way, ignoring them as they made their way down the corridor towards the primary entry doors that would lead them into the main cell block. The massive doors were more reminiscent of ancient cold war blast doors from the Terran Cold war than the sleek high-tech doors of a secret underground military facility. There appeared to be a complex locking mechanism there that Mike could have sworn was comprised of a series of interlocking gears, levers and electronics. Mike regarded it for a second and then looked at O'Neill. "It's all yours." he said with a shrug. Suddenly there was a noise behind them as a door opened and a stunned guard stepped out into the corridor. Before the Irlixian could manage to draw his weapon, Ichijo had performed some sort of advanced Judo throw, a la Buck Rogers, and slammed him into the wall. "Incoming!" she shouted as she suddenly rolled away from the door. A burst of phaser fire narrowly missed her and then the worst possible thing happened. The alarm sounded. (reply O'Neill, Ichijo, Lopez) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix - Seliya Facility Corridor - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 8 - 2019) Eian was about to program his PADD to scan the electronics of the door when Ichijo began fighting the Irlixian guard behind them. Phaser fire broke out and Eian instinctively put his PADD in his pocket and ducked down, phaser drawn and pointing toward the danger. He shot a guard and the man dropped at the same time the alarm sounded. "Crap!" he said aloud, and pulled his PADD. "A team of six, Sir, headed this way from the East," Eian pointed in the correct direction. "And...three more teams of six farther away approximately two hundred meters, two headed from the West and one from the East." (reply Rosenbauer) "Yes, Sir," Eian said, and scanned the door. He kept his phaser in his hand, though. He wanted to be ready if he couldn't figure out the combination in time. The numbers flashed on his PDA and scrolled through the alien digits for the electronic locks. There were three external electronic locks and two internal electronic-mechanical combination locks. The exterior gears were intermediaries between the three external electronic locks. Eian knew the PADD would have the combination in a matter of seconds. It still seemed incredibly slow, though. Finally, the solution was displayed. "I've got it, Sir!" (reply Rosenbauer, anyone else iyw) Phaser fire broke out around him, and he quickly inputted the combination and faced the door as it opened. As soon as he spotted the Irlixian boots, he yelled, "Contact, contact!" before he stunned the two guards who were running towards him from the opposite end of the corridor. He ducked inside. The new angle inside the doorjamb gave him a perfect shot at an incoming Irlixian guard, and he quickly looked at his PADD. "We've got four more approximately a hundred meters ahead, Sir!" As he was trained to do, he immediately checked in for orders. "Fornix to central, reporting Block 3 currently secure." =/= Fornix, listen this is captain Masdov. You are to immediately execute the prisoners. We are under attack by the enemy and they have invaded the facility. The prisoners must not escape.=/= The brutality of the order struck Fornix dumb for a few moments. These prisoners had already been through enough. Taken from their ship, isolated from their people and now they were to be executed. =/= Fornix, do you read? Acknowledge your orders.=/= The mind was numb, even if the mouth decided to work on it's own accord. Years of combat and military service took over and he instinctively answered, "Orders acknowledged" =/= very good, carry them out and then assist in dealing with the intruders. Central out. =/= Some how Fornix managed to pull his phase pistol and head down the corridor towards the cell that held Ben Soma. He was trying hard to convince himself that murdering the human officer would be the best course of action and that he was only following orders. Yet when he reached the cell, he could only raise his weapon and say, "I've been ordered to execute you." as the color all but drained from his face. (reply Soma) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Seliya Facility Corridor -ACMO Ensign Sam Lopez, Day 8 - 2021) It all broke out it with the appearance of that guard. The alarm had started to ring out around Sam and had him ready. The different guard groups came from all sides with Sam shooting his Phaser with the most accuracy he could muster. Sam watched as guards fell from his multiple phaser hits to the different guards.Sam had learned to just deal with using a weapon, but it always hurt him to use one.But it never hindered him in his starfleet duties. The door was finally opened after what seemed to be a eternity of waiting. The order was given then to enter the path revealed by the door.~it was time for the rescue to begin and to hopefully get everyone out safely~ (Reply by any) (Posted by shawn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility, Holding Block, ATAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma-2022) Ben had been sitting cross legged on his bunk meditating when the alarm sounded. ~So much for quiet reflection~ He straightened his legs out and sat on the edge of the bunk as he heard someone approaching his cell, no doubt Fornix wanted to make sure he was still in his cell. Ben was no Houdini and there wasn't an access panel inside the cell so he could short out the field so it was only logical that he would still be there. He did understand the necessity to check however, duty and all. When Fornix arrived he stood at the cells entrance just shy of the barrier and the colour faded from his face as he level a phaser at Ben. "I've been ordered to execute you." He said. Ben could see that the guard was conflicted, this was not something he expected to do. ~After all I've been through and it all comes down to this~ He thought. ~Killed like a rabid dog in a cage~ Ben stood and took a couple steps towards the forcefield separating him from Fornix. "If you feel that is the right course of action Fornix." Ben stated no emotion evident in his voice. "Do you think killing me is justified?" Ben didn't let Fonix answer his question but continued. "I take it the alarm means that my people have arrived to take back what was wrongfully taken from them. Your government knows this and that is why they want the prisoners killed, no witnesses and they can claim it was all one big accident." Ben looked Fonix square in the eye and said. "If you want to kill me do so, don't kill me just because you are following orders." Ben then took another step forward. "Just answer this question first." Ben said. "How will you face your family knowing you have deprived me of mine?" "How will you face your family knowing you have deprived me of mine?" The Irlixian was conflicted. All his life he had been a soldier. His discipline and his unerringly obedience had helped him to survive the war and to rise in the ranks until he had been selected for this very unique opportunity. He knew that he'd have the chance to meet with the aliens one day, to study them and learn from them. He just never realized that what he'd be learning was this particular lesson. "You are right of course." Fornix finally conceded as he lowered his weapon. "I could kill you, but it wouldn't be for the right reasons. You're not a threat to me or my people. If anything we're a threat to yours." Then with a mental clarity that he had never experienced, Fornix stepped forward and entered the emergency override for the force field that kept him separated from Ben. "You need to leave." He said. "They have the Bohrs in the hanger, three decks up and to the west. They'll do everything they can to prevent your escape." He held out his phase pistol to the alien. "Here, you'll need this." O'Neill said aloud, and pulled his PADD. "A team of six, Sir, headed this way from the East," Eian pointed in the correct direction. "And...three more teams of six farther away approximately two hundred meters, two headed from the West and one from the East." "Get this door open." Mike ordered and moved backwards towards the doorway where the second guard was still firing from the room. Mike counted to three and then ducked down through the doorway and stunned the guard with a well-placed shot to the center of his chest. He then motioned to Lopez to join him at the east-west junction where they could potentially hold off the Irlixian reinforcements. He pointed Sam to the West while he covered the east While Ichijo provided cover for O'Neill as he worked on the door. Sam and he were doing well holding off the Irlixians trying to come in behind them and the Ex-Ranger was impressed with the doctor's phaser skills as he dropped opponent after opponent with skill and precision. "I've got it, Sir!" Eian shouted a little while later. Mike grunted and then shouted over the din. "Lopez, we're falling back!" (reply Sam) Mike and Sam continued to put a withering series of phaser blasts down the corridor as they backpedaled as quickly as they could to regroup with the rest of their team. As they reached them, a series of blistering return phaser blasts struck all around them as the guards finally managed to coordinate their return volley. The door was sliding open and O'Neill was through the door. Mike heard a sudden cry of "Contact, Contact!" from beyond the open door, followed by a series of phaser blasts. "Get through the door!" Mike shouted at the two doctors as he continued to put down covering fire. As they disappeared beyond the doorway, Mike increased his rate of fire until he too slipped through the door. He struck an emergency close button, or at least that what it turned out to be and the door started to slide closed behind them. They weren't out of the woods yet, however, as O'Neill once again shouted. "We've got four more approximately a hundred meters ahead, Sir!" "We have to keep moving. Hug the walls of the corridor and stay low!" Mike ordered.
