Day 2 - 1615 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (Boronite Mining Facility - Control Room -Bardon System , SO - Mike Rosenbauer (MU), Day 2 - 1615) Mike smiled as Jennifer stepped between himself and the administrator. He knew well enough by the look on her face and her stride what she was likely to do, and he was not to be disappointed. Caskie looked at him and smiled, "Officers can do anything they damn well please." In a blur of motion, her knife was out and the administrator was collapsing in a heap as he bled out on the floor. Mike's own smile faded as he realized that Jennifer's knife was just a few millimeter's from his own throat. his eyes hardened somewhat as she spoke to him. She looked him in the eye. "The next time I give you an order I expect it to be obeyed to the letter. The Captain ordered me to leave one person alive here; not half alive and not dying. You had better pray that he doesn't punish me for your mistake. Because if he does, lover or not, I will make you wish you were dead." Sheathing her knife she walked away kicked out the nearest chair and sat down. "You may inform me when the shipment has been transported up. We'll leave then." Mike worked his jaw in irritation. "I completely understand Commander. It won't happen again." He said in response, despite the fact that he was terribly irritated at this very moment. A few minutes passed and Mike just stood watching the Administrator's eyes glass over. Eventually a small smile graced his face and he turned away from the cooling body to stand near the hatchway into the control room. He had just settled into place when his commbadge chirped. =^= Cooper here. We've found the Boronite. I'm sending the coordinates now. The scientists have been put on vacation.=^= Mike's smile broadened then, and he tapped his commbadge in reply. "Good work Tyrone. I'll let the commander know." He stepped over to where the rest of his squad waited and nodded to Mosh. The Bolian hopped up from his place and went to have a discussion with Saint Jean and T'Vyr. Mike then continued on to Caskie and Wyler, who were fairly close together, despite their naturally competitive nature. It was well known that the captain had a thing for Sadistic women, and Mike would have been surprised if they hadn't both already found themselves in his bed. "Commander." Mike said, getting the first officer's attention. "I have the coordinates for the Boronite. The scientists are no longer an issue." ========================== Day 2 - 1617 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (Boronite Mining Facility - Control Room -Bardon System , FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU), Day 2 - 1617) Jennifer didn't have to wait too long before Rosenbauer stepped towards her. "Commander." he began, catching her attention. Looking up at him she simply regarded him cooly not quite ready yet to forgive him. "I have the coordinates for the Boronite. The scientists are no longer an issue." Nodding she tapped her comm badge. "Caskie to Rosenante." "We have secured the Boronite shipment. Ensign Rosenbauer will send you the co-ordinates in a moment. It's being guarded by two of his people beam it and them up at your discretion. The rest of us will make our way to a clear space. You can beam us aboard once you have the cargo onboard. Caskie out" Tapping her comm badge shut Jennifer stood up and smiled at the people around her. "Very good work ladies and gentlemen. Rosenbauer send the co-ordinates up to the Rosenante and make sure they confirm receiving the shipment. As for the rest of us, time to make our way back to the beam down co-ordinates I think. Mr Rosenbauer, you can have your people go first if you don't mind. I'd rather not have a stray phaser go off and shoot me from behind accidentally." Grinning she allowed Mike and his team to leave the Control Room before she and Wyler followed them. Finally as she and Wyler joined Mike's team at the beam up co-ordinates she tapped her commbadge. "Caskie to Rosenante. Beam us up now." (Reply anyone on the Rosenante (MU)) ========================= Day 2 1618 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 USS Roesenate - Bridge COPS - Lt tom Jackson(MU), Day 2 - 1618) Tom Jackson was on the bridge when Commander Caskie's call came in. Tom punched a couple of buttons and replied "Rosenante here Go Ahead Commander" and waited. Caskie replied promptly with "We have secured the Boronite shipment. Ensign Rosenbauer will send you the co-ordinates in a moment. It's being guarded by two of his people beam it and them up at your discretion. The rest of us will make our way to a clear space. You can beam us aboard once you have the cargo on-board. Caskie out" "Understood Commander - Rosenante out" and he closed the link. Verifying with personnel in Cargo Bay 3 the material have completed transport, Jackson turned to getting Caskie and Mike Tom replied "Understood Commander - beaming cargo aboard now" . Tom directed the beamed in material to cargo bay 3 and asked Raschen to place Security around it. Tom had experienced the Agonier and Dr Wyler's; 'joy' in using it. Once time was one time too many. Tom wondered if the Dr , while physically very attractive, was as twisted off duty as on. He was not sure he wanted to find out! Mike Rosenbauer and the Security forces beamed aboard. Tom made sure they all arrived safely as Rosenbauer was know to be Caskie's lover. Again, Jackson was not one to tempt fate. Casie's wrath was legendary. "Ready to beam you and the doctor aboard Commander" Tom ttransmitted d as he had the beiamin up process begin. ========================== Day 2 - 1620 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (Bardon Mining Colony - FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU) - Day 2 - 1620) Jennifer listened as the COPS began to organise the beam up of everything and began tapping her foot on the deck. Finally he acknowledged beam up of the boronite shipment and began the beam up of the away team. Rosenbauer and his squad disappeared leaving Jennifer and Dr Wyler still at the beam up co-ordinates. Jennifer knew how angry Mike was with her at present and she could just imagine him waiting in the Transporter Room to sabotage her beam up. "Mr Jackson either you are deaf or you are an idiot. You do not transport all my security squad back to the ship before I am aboard. Is that clear Mr Jackson." "What was that Mister? I didn't quite hear you." "Very well. You will beam Dr Wyler and myself aboard now, and if anything happens to us during the beam up then you had better be ready to explain it to the Captain. Do I make myself clear Jackson? Since you seem to be unable to hear me properly perhaps I should schedule you an appointment with Dr Wyler. She's right here beside me and I am fairly sure that she can fit you in at her earliest convenience. Have I made myself clear Lt?" Jennifer nodded. "Excellent Lt. I'm glad we understand one another. Beam us up now. Caskie out." (ISS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie - (MU) - Day 2 - 1623) Jennifer and Dr Wyler finally found themselves transported back up to the Rosenante and looking around Jennifer was happy to see that only Ensign Rosenbauer and the Transporter Technical were still in the room. Turning to the doctor she thanked her. "Your dismissed doctor. You may go about your normal duties. As the doctor left Jennifer turned to Mike and ran a finger down the ruined side of his face. "2000 hours, my quarters. Don't be late." ========================= Day 2 - 1621 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante - Bridge -COPS Lt Tom Jackson (MU) - Day 2 - 1621) Tom Jackson swore top himself -Cmdr Caskie was raking him over the coals. "Mr Jackson either you are deaf or you are an idiot. You do not transport all my security squad back to the ship before I am aboard. Is that clear Mr Jackson."Jackson swore inwardly. Rather meekly for such a cruel man Jackson replied "Understood Commander". Caskie continued her berating of Jackson with "Very well. Have I made myself clear Lt?" "Understood Commander" Jackson knew he was in fro a spell with the Agonizer. CMdr Caskie was cruel and he was in for it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Ensign Smith smirked in glee at his boss's situation. ~Punk~ Jackson swore mentally. He made sure he would get even with Ensign Smith. ========================= Day 2- 1622 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Transporter Room 1- SO- Ens. Mike Rosenbauer (MU)- Day 2- 1622) Mike materialized on the transporter PADD and for a moment considered creating a transporter accident. He knew that Jackson would take any blame if Caskie failed to rematerialize, and If Mike killed the transporter chief, there was the explanation that Mike had realized too late what was happening to prevent it. But somewhere beneath that hard exterior, Mike genuinely liked Jennifer Caskie. He knew that she was using him, but he really didn't mind too much, besides, she shielded him to a degree from the captain. Instead of allowing that particularly vile seed to germinate and flower into a blossom of death, Mike barked out his orders. "Maniacs Dismissed." There were mixed responses, but they scattered, knowing better than to question Mike's orders. He smiled, then twisting his face up into a macabre mask of scared flesh and moved around behind the transporter console. He looked a nervous Ensign Dawson in the eye and said. "If they die, you follow along behind shortly thereafter." Dawson simply nodded and began the transport sequence. A few moments later, both Caskie and Wyler materialized on the transporter platform none the worse for wear. They both stepped down off the platform and Jennifer dismissed the good doctor to attend to her normal duties. She then turned to Mike and gently reached up and stroked the scarred side of his face. "2000 hours, my quarters. Don't be late." she said. Mike nodded. "Wouldn't dream of it." he replied. Mike turned to gaze at Dawson with his one good eye. "Good job Ensign." he said, then turned back to Caskie. "The captain will want to see you." ========================= Day 2 - 1628 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Bridge, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU), Day 2 - 1628) Salid listened intently as Caskie had announced that they had acquired the boronite that he was intent on retrieving. They were well on their way now and with only a few more stops on their route, they'd soon be able to produce a new Omega Device which could be used to destroy the Sunali sun and return them back to their normal universe. Things were too civilized here for his personal tastes and the sooner that he could return home the better. He also listened as Jennifer gave her orders to Jackson, and then noted with some level of detached amusement that the chief of operations had selected to beam up the away party in the wrong order. A slight smile crossed his lips as he contemplated Jennifer's wrath fully realized. =^=Mr. Jackson either you are deaf or you are an idiot. You do not transport all my security squad back to the ship before I am aboard. Is that clear Mr. Jackson.=^= "Understood Commander" Jackson replied a bit out of character. "What was that Mister? I didn't quite hear you." =^=Very well. Have I made myself clear Lt?=^= "Understood Commander" the Chief of operations replied again. A flick of Salid's eyes and he noticed Smith grinning slightly. Ahmed rose from his seat. And strode over to the Operations console where Jackson was manning the station. "Was there a reason that you chose to disobey Commander Caskie's orders, mister Jackson? Are you considering making a play for First Officer of this ship?" he asked just loudly enough to be heard across the entire bridge. "Well then, maybe your were hoping for something else? Tell me what might that be?" Ahmed looked at the man. It was hard to tell if he was being sincere or lying to him. The captain reached down slowly and withdrew Jackson's dagger from his belt. "I'd be very careful if I were you mister Jackson," Salid said as tested the weight and balance of the weapon. "I might start thinking that you plan to mutiny on my ship." he finished. "Do you know what happens to people who cross me Jackson?" he asked. Ahmed dropped his smile now, his face suddenly serious. In one swift motion, he thrust the blade of Jackson's dagger downward driving it through the back of the lieutenant's left hand and into the console. Sparks shot out and the console went dark. "The next time you fail to accurately follow an order in a timely manner, I will slowly skin you alive. Am I understood, Lieutenant Jackson? You'd best remember to whom your loyalties lie." Ahmed reached down and jerked the blade out of the console and from the lieutenant's hand. "Report to Sickbay lieutenant Jackson. Doctor Wyler will tend to that hand." "Mister Smith, you will assume the duties of the operations chief while mister Jackson is mending. Call Rixx to fix my console and tell chief Bird to begin preparing the boronite. Have Caskie report to my ready room." His eyes searched the faces of those present. " Is there anyone here who wants to challenge me for command of my ship?" Officers turned away or did not reply. They knew better than to make eye contact with the captain at this moment. Satisfied that no one was stupid enough to step forward, Salid turned to Midas. "Mister Midas." "Captain!" Midas Replied quickly. "Takes us out of orbit, plot us a course to Hexikor Alpha. Make certain the path leads us through the asteroid belt." "Yes captain." Midas replied and immediately the Rosenante began to move away from the planet. He then turned to Nayati "When we have entered the Asteroid field activate the HISS." "Mister Sullivan, the captain said as he crossed the compartment to his ready room, "You have the bridge until I order you relieved." The doors opened to the ready room and the captain smiled as he considered how well things were going. ========================= Day 2 - 1628.2 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Bridge, COPS, Lt Tom Jackson (MU), Day 2 - 1628.2) Tom Jackson's scar throbbed badly as he realized he in deep trouble. He didn't like the way the CO was eying him. It was almost as if the sadist in the center chair was enjoying Tom's trouble. At best Tom expected a session with another sadist, Dr Wyler and her Agonizer. Jackson tensed as the CO strode over and stood beside him. He was sweating and fearing for his life. Ahmed rose from his seat. And strode over to the Operations console where Jackson was manning the station. The CO spoke "Was there a reason that you chose to disobey Commander Caskie's orders, mister Jackson? Are you considering making a play for First Officer of this ship?" he asked just loudly enough to be heard across the entire bridge. Jackson stole a glance at Smith - the sneaky little S** was smiling. "Sir, I intended nothing - I mis-understood the Commanders orders" Jackson stammered. Tom suspected Salid would reject that out of hand. The Co continued speaking "Well then, maybe your were hoping for something else? Tell me what might that be?". Jackson was scared more than he ever had been in his 27 years. Gulping , he stammered a response. "Sir, I am loyal to you - my service proves that" Jackson wailed. Salid withdraw Tom;s knife and toyed with it "I'd be very careful if I were you mister Jackson," Salid said as tested the weight and balance of the weapon. "I might start thinking that you plan to mutiny on my ship." he finished. All Tom Jackson could do was nod, sweating pouring out of every pore on his body. Ahmed Salid dropped all pretense of civility and asked coldly "Do you know what happens to people who cross me Jackson?" . Jackson was almost crying and replied feebly "sir, they die ". The bridge crew was mesmerized by the exchange between Jackson and Salid. The tension was thick. Jackson had few, if any, supporters and could not risk a mutiny. In one swift motion,Salid thrust the blade of Jackson's dagger downward driving it through the back of the lieutenant's left hand and into the console. Sparks shot out and the console went dark. "Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" screamed the OPS officer. He watched in horror as blood poured from the wound. Ahmed leaned closer and spoke just loud enough for all to hear. "The next time you fail to accurately follow an order in a timely manner, I will slowly skin you alive. Am I understood, Lieutenant Jackson? You'd best remember to whom your loyalties lie." Crying , Jackson nodded and replying "Yes Sir" in a pitiful whimpering voice. Ahmed reached down and jerked the blade out of the console and from the lieutenant's hand. "Report to Sickbay lieutenant Jackson. Doctor Wyler will tend to that hand." Jackson flew from the bridge cradling his injured hand. (ISS Rosenante - Turbo Lift Day 2 1630) Whimpering, Jackson called - "Deck 10". As the lift moved, Jackson thought about what had happened. ~That cruel, sadist Salid - I won't rest until I even things up~ he swore to himself. (ISS Rosenante Deck 10 Sick Bay 1631) Jackson entered Sick bay and shivered as he passed the Agonizer. There was Dr Wyler and she smiled evilly at Jackson. "Doctor, I need your services" Jackson said. ========================= Day 2 - 1628.5, 1632 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Bridge, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU), Day 2 - 1628.5) "Sir, I intended nothing - I mis-understood the Commanders orders" Jackson stammered. Salid narrowed his eyes and regarded the man. The CO continued speaking "Well then, maybe your were hoping for something else? Tell me what might that be.". Gulping , Jackson stammered out a response. "Sir, I am loyal to you - my service proves that" Jackson wailed. "If you were not, you'd already be dead. Remember that" Salid replied quietly. Salid withdraw Tom's knife and toyed with it "I'd be very careful if I were you mister Jackson," Salid said as he tested the weight and balance of the weapon. "They do die mister Jackson, but they suffer first and foremost." Salid agreed. The bridge crew was mesmerized by the exchange between Jackson and Salid. The tension was thick. Jackson had few, if any, supporters and could not risk a mutiny. In one swift motion, Salid thrust the blade of Jackson's dagger downward driving it through the back of the lieutenant's left hand and into the console. Sparks shot out and the console went dark. "Report to Sickbay lieutenant Jackson. Doctor Wyler will tend to that hand." Jackson flew from the bridge cradling his injured hand. Salid then went about his business. (ISS Rosenante, Ready Room, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU), Day 2 - 1632) Ahmed was standing staring out the window of his ready room, his back to the door, admiring the planets as they slipped past the ship on her way out of the system. The enunciator chimed. It was immediately followed by the sound of Caskie's voice. =^=Caskie here. You wanted to see me Sir I believe.=^= Salid without turning, reached over and depressed the button on his desk that opened the door. He glanced up into the window as his first officer entered the room. The door closed behind her. He never turned around to face her. "Are you growing soft Commander?" he asked her. "I took the time to make an example of mister Jackson, because you failed to order it yourself. Terror , fear and disciplined must be maintained if we are to remain in command of this ship." he continued. "We are far from the authority of the Union, and that alone breeds the foul thought of mutiny. I can not afford for you to grow soft on me commander." He turned then and regarded her. "I took a great deal of risk making you my First Officer. I like to think that I've made a good choice." "Jackson has been punished enough. I sent him to Wyler for a treatment for an injury." The captain reached out and unfolded the monitor on his desk. He rotated the screen around to where Caskie could see it. He reached down and pressed a button on his desk and the symbol of the Union was displayed. "Data has been provided to me concerning certain activities undertaken by junior officers." He pressed another button on the screen and the image shifted to a video of Kitty Fisher and M'Empek in a storage room. The scene was short and Ahmed purposefully played it without sound. "What do you think this exchange was about Jennifer?" The captain asked. "before you answer, you should know that I've already heard the audio track." ========================= Day 2 - 1630 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante - Captain's Ready Room - FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU) - Day 2 - 1630) Jennifer wasn't entirely happy about having to report to the Ready Room. More people had come out of there dead than alive, but, knowing that she had little choice in the matter she simply followed her orders and reported to the Captain. Standing outside the door she took a deep breath. Her father's words came back to haunt her. 'When in doubt, always attack. But attack from a side that they will not expect. " Josh pushed the chime and grinned as she pushed the button. "Caskie here. You wanted to see me Sir I believe." ========================= Day 2 - 1634 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante - Ready Room - FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU), Day 2 - 1634) As the door opened to allow her entry Jennifer saw the Captain gazing out of the window He didn't bother to turn and greet her but simply asked her a question. "Are you growing soft Commander?" The hairs on the back of her neck rose but she kept the smile on her face. "No Sir. Not especially." "I took the time to make an example of Mister Jackson, because you failed to order it yourself. Terror , fear and disciplined must be maintained if we are to remain in command of this ship." he continued. "We are far from the authority of the Union, and that alone breeds the foul thought of mutiny. I can not afford for you to grow soft on me Commander." Jennifer relaxed slightly. "I failed to order it Sir because I prefer to look someone in their face when I order them disciplined. I would have punished Jackson when I decided the time benefited me." "I took a great deal of risk making you my First Officer. I like to think that I've made a good choice." Jennifer raised an eyebrow. Slowly she walked over to the Captain stopping short of where he was standing and smiled at him. "Yes, you did. And you gained a great deal in that choice. Do you think that Janeway's accident was merely an accident. Do you really think that his console exploding was a simple case of serendipity. He was out to get you and I put a stop to that." Instead of answering her the captain reached out and unfolded the monitor on his desk. He rotated the screen around to where Caskie could see it. He reached down and pressed a button on his desk and the symbol of the Union was displayed. "Data has been provided to me concerning certain activities undertaken by junior officers." He pressed another button on the screen and the image shifted to a video of Kitty Fisher and E'Mpak in a storage room. The scene was short and Ahmed purposefully played it without sound. "What do you think this exchange was about Jennifer?" The captain asked. "before you answer, you should know that I've already heard the audio track." Jennifer smiled. "If you've heard the audio track then you already know what it's about. You promoted me to FO above other officers who were more 'qualified'. Are you then surprised that I take steps to protect myself. You already knew that Kitty was loyal to me. I've never hidden that fact. E'mpak is a formidable fighter. Why would I not want her on my side? She is a rogue Klingon and as such it already hated by most of our crew. I chose to use that to my advantage. No-one else had bothered to recruit her. I saw an opportunity and I chose to take it." ========================= Day 2 - 1638 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Sickbay, CMO, Lieutenant Aleesa Wyler (MU), Day 2 - 1638) Aleesa was not in the most pleased of moods. She hadn't been allowed to really torture the administrator and she had been robbed of the opportunity to kill the man by the First Officer. This had put her in a less than pleasant mood, but that all changed when the doors to sickbay slid open and Lieutenant Jackson the Chief of Operations came into the bay cradling a bloodied hand. ~Now isn't that just something.~ Alee thought with an evil smirk. "Doctor, I need your services" Jackson said. "So you do Lieutenant." Aleesa stated and gestured for Jackson to take a seat on one of the more secluded biobeds. She spoke low enough that only Jackson could hear her. "Looks like a stab wound." she commented as she ran the sterilizer field over Jackson's hand. "I'd say commander Caskie was very unhappy with you." "Ah, I see." Aleesa replied. "Still maybe those orders could have been a bit easier to understand, eh? Then the Captain wouldn't have gotten so angry." She placed the sterilizer on the biobed next to Jackson then retrieved the dermal regenerator from her kit. "You know how I feel about the Captain, Tom. He saved me from execution after those experiments on Canopus III went so badly. I owe him my life. And I suspect that you know you do also." "You know that Smith would have tried to assassinate you by now if you weren't under the captain's protection. This little incident will only make Smith think he can relax his guard a bit. When he does... you'll be ready for him won't you?" "And Commander Caskie, she's hoping to be captain one day. She's biding her time. How long do you think you or I will live if she takes command?" The wound was healing very well. "The captain could have killed you. You know he's killed men for much less. There was a reason he left you alive. He may even have been protecting you." "All done" she stated as he placed the device back into the kit. "Good as new. The captain didn't damage anything serious." "Remember what I said Tom and consider it very carefully." ========================= Day 2 - 1639 NRPG: This also attempts to make up for my forgetting to include Ensign Rixx - Apologies Ruby - RPG: Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (USS Rosenante - Deck - OPS Center - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 2 - 1639) Tom acknowledged the FO's direction to speak to LT Raschen about the Security arrangements. Tapping his com badge once again. Tom contacted Raschen "Lt Raschen, Tom Jackson here" and waited fro the LT's reply. "I wanted to make you aware of the security support I think we ill need once down at the Mining Facility" he added. "I'd like to request two or three security folks - especially Yeoman Fowler - my chief recommends him highly" Tom said. "Thanks - Tom Jackson out" ad re-tapped his badge to close the link. Tom Jackson sent a message to Elvis Fowler, Ensign Rixx and PO Stevens the remaining Security officer to meet him in the OPS Office in 10 minutes to go over the AWAY mission. Tom reviewed the Daystrom Institutes's Mark V computer layout. The accessing fo the records sahould not prove to be too difficult but he wanted to scan the readouts for any surprises added locally. ========================= Day 2 - 1639.5, 1649 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (USS Rosenante - Main Engineering - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 2 - 1639.5) The last few days Mitena had found herself to be more contemplative then she would have really liked. She still wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the ship going off mission. It was definitely not something that she'd ever had to deal with before. As far as she could tell there wasn't a guidebook on how one was supposed to feel about it. She had considered if she should talk to the ship's counselor about it, but hadn't decided yet. She'd been monitoring the power fluctuations along a secondary relay that had reported slight deviation in power flow during the morning maintenance review but was certain that her mind wasn't completely on the task. With a slight frown, Mitena scrolled back up the readout to double check that she hadn't missed anything. The blinking message indicator flashed on her console. The message from Lt. Jackson was quick and to the point. She forwarded the message on to Lt. Marrow along with a notation that she would be leaving her duty station. Before heading out she jotted down a quick note in the maintenance log to have the relay considered for replacement. As she exited main engineering her communicator chirped. =/\=Rosenbauer to Rixx.=/\= "Rixx here." She replied, "How can I assist you sir?" =/\=Please meet me in Transporter Room one for a quick security briefing for the away mission. Bring all your gear and equipment that you'll need when going down to the surface. We'll begin our quick discussion at 1705 hours.=/\= She stopped in the middle of the room, slightly taken aback by the request. ~Why would I need a security briefing? ~ "I'll be there as soon as possible sir, but I have a meeting to attend with operations first. I would venture the two things are related, so I'll be as quick as I can." =/\=See you then, Rosenbauer out. =/\= She turned and went to one of the lockers, retrieving an engineering kit and a standard tricorder. Away mission... Surface...Security Briefing. It seemed as though she was going to have plenty to keep her apprehensive mind busy. (USS Rosenante - Operations - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 2 - 1649) Mitena headed into Operations. Through a door, she spotted Lt. Jackson and headed straight away to his location. If she was going to make the meeting the Rosenbauer then she didn't have any time to waste. With as much of a smile as she could manage she stepped into the office. "Hello, Lt. Jackson. How are things today?" She asked curiously. She listened intently to the Lieutenant as he detailed out the situation at hand. ========================= Day 2 - 1644 Mission: Into the Darkness, Go I Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.08.02 (ISS Rosenante, Ready Room, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid (MU), Day 2 - 1644) "Data has been provided to me concerning certain activities undertaken by junior officers." Why would I not want her on my side? She is a rogue Klingon and as such is already hated by most of our crew. I chose to use that to my advantage. No-one else had bothered to recruit her. I saw an opportunity and I chose to take it." The captain nodded, then smiled. "I'm glad that you're honest with me Jennifer. I'd have hated to have someone ruin that pretty little face of yours. Protect yourself, by all means, but remember who the captain of this ship is. I hold people responsible for the actions of those in their camp." He turned and looked out of the windows. "This place makes me sick, Jennifer. People here are so weak, so fragile. It's all I can do to tolerate the thought of being here. We'll complete our weapon and deploy it against the Sunali sun. If everything works out we'll be back in our own universe soon enough." He looked up at her, his face somber. "Ian seems to have joined the rebellion, Jennifer. The reports are that he seized the Romero and defected." He reached into his desk drawer and removed a PADD. He handed it to her. "Ian wrote a letter of intent. He sent it directly to the regent. Secured it with his own security codes. Rodrigo was so angry he had two admirals executed." "I was asked if I thought you were a traitor to the Union; If you were anything like your son. I told them that you were a loyal subject of the Union, and that I believed that you would never jeopardize the safety of the fleet or the regent. They ordered me to watch you and report any aberrant behavior." "You know well enough how the Union treats the family of traitors. You'll only be safe as long as I am protecting you. If anything happens to me, they'll hunt you down and execute you." He paused and looked her in the eye. A smile spread across his face. "So now you're mine, to protect or not as I decide. You did me a service once. I am doing one for you now." Ahmed allowed his smile to drop and returned to business. "We reach our next destination in 5 days. Hexikor Prime and Hexikor Alpha. They are a pair of artificial world stations built by the Bynars to conduct highly advanced experiments. In our world they are exceptionally heavily defended. That's not likely to be the case." "The details of our next mission are on that PADD. We'll need to take Smith. He knows the Bynars better than anyone. Look over the details and consult those necessary." "The main prize that we are after are an experimental Class 11 computer. It uses bio-neural circuitry to mimic humanoid synaptic functions, as well as several other components listed on that PADD which will allow us to build a paratrinic shield generator and a phased cloaking device for the weapon." "You have your orders commander. You are dismissed." ========================= __________ NOD32 4041 (20090428) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
