She leaned over to her friend, "There is a Cardassian officer over there....call me crazy but I think he knows you." "You're crazy," Lani' said. Then she shot a glance over her shoulder at the Cardassian. The Klingoness put her hands up alongside her neck and said, loud enough to be heard beyond the table she and Ava shared, "If you've seen one…" The young doctor rolled her eyes, "Well I know him," And with that she started to get up. "Border conflicts have started over less," Lani muttered. "We exchanged pleasantries, I was leaving the Fo's office, he was going in," Ava said as she left their table. Ava made her way through Hard2Port toward the Spoonhead, "Good evening Ensign." Ava smiled, doing a far impression of the last time their paths crossed. "How did your meeting with the FO go?" Lanista overheard the exchange Ava began due to the Klingoness' Vulcan ears. "It went well. Commander Okita is very polite, more so than many other Starfleet officers I've encountered, no offense, of course," said the Cardassian. "Better than mine then," Ava smiled up at the imposing man, "Why don't you come over and join us, Lani and I are just catching up...." Elith looked back at an enlisted pilot at the bar. The pilot seemed to be in the midst of telling some sort of story it seemed: "...killed mah famly an' mah dogs. Ah loved dem dogs. Now a good huntin' dog is an investment in time, credits, love. Shoot, it don't take but a few minutes to make a new son. Then ya give 'im to the womenfolk and say 'Here, you raise the buzzard'" The Cardassian turned back to Ava. "I apologize, I'm afraid I won't be able to-" "Tosh! I won't take no for an answer, come on." Ava then linked arms with Elith, much to his surprise, and led him back to the table. He looked down at his glass of kanar. They reached the table, and Elith said to Lanista, "Er, hello." "Gagh?!" Lani' said, raising her bowl with both hands to very near Elith's face. (Reply Elith, Ava) (Posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir – Deck 02, "Hard2Port" – ACMO(jg) Ava McGregor – 2103) "Gagh?!" Lani' said, raising her bowl with both hands to very near Elith's face.   Full lips twisted but Ava did not crack a smile as she took her own seat and returned to her own beverage of choice, coffee of course. "Ignore her, come and sit by me," Ava patted the seat next to her, "Lani is such a messy eater, you sit next to her you'll end up with Gagh in your hair."   Ava was teasing her friend mostly but it was tempting never the less to gently tease the stern looking Cardassian. She knew that he had been in her year at the academy but he had not been in her wide circle of friends. She could not for the life of her place him in any of her classes either.  "Sooo, Elith, How have you been finding the Mithrandir so far, settling in?"   The doctor was genuinely curious. It was her way, she loved to know about people, some would call it nosey, she preferred inquisitive.   (Reply Lani/ Elith/any) (Posted by Jodie) (USS Mithrandir – Deck 02, "Hard2Port" – ACMO Ensign (jg) Ava McGregregor – 2104) Lani' could see her friend Ava suppress a smile. Ava ribbed back at Lani', saying to the Cardassian, "Ignore her, come and sit by me. Lani is such a messy eater, you sit next to her you'll end up with Gagh in your hair." Lani' smiled broadly then opened her mouth fully and made a great show of putting squirming things in her mouth. After barely chewing, Lani' gulped down the serpent-worms and said, "I only got gagh in your hair once, Eerie. And that was because someone tripped me." (Reply Ava) The Cardassian, whose name was apparently Elith, had been in some of the same classes with Lanista back at the Academy. He seemed as ill at ease now as he did then. "Sooo, Elith," Ava said, trying very hard to make the young male officer feel comfortable,  "How have you been finding the Mithrandir so far, settling in?"   (Reply Elith) Lani' smiled at the pair seated now across the table from her. Each of them seemed to be trying so hard. Ava was like a wild khrestahk beast trying to break open an evrantotlh egg with a rock. Elith looked for all the world like he was wondering if the shuttle pilot at the bar was still sober enough t o take him back to any one of the floating-space-garbage transports the Mithrandir's Engineering crew was still servicing.  The Klingoness gulped down more serpent-worms and washed it down with bloodwine. She wasn't sure, yet, if it were synthehol or the real thing. But if it were synthehol, it at least tasted like bloodwine. The hypospray paused, Ava tilted her head to the side and considered the Chameloid thoughtfully for a second. "Without befuddling you with too much detail you need to know that the virus in question managed to not only jump species but in doing so created an antigenic shift that nearly killed our CMO. So yes, you need the immunity that this will provide, as does every single member of the crew, there are no expectations." Ava smiled, "As for my qualifications, you are free to look over my file, I am more than adequately qualified to treat you and manage your medical care whilst you remain a member of this crew."   The hypospray hissed as it injected into the side of the Chameloids neck. Satisfied, Ava changed tactics and asked with obviously sympathy lurking just beneath the surface "How did your interview with the captain go?" Martzia, shifting subject back to the doctor’s question of her visit with Captain Stakes.  "As for my visit with the Captain it went quite well.  He is a good man and has a tough job and does it with great skill."  Martzia would never speak ill of her Captain, no matter what happened.  She had seen what they go through, personally.   The stress on her father after a tough decision that cost lives or the loneliness she had seen him go through when he didn't feel he could talk to anyone, even to her at times.  A ship’s Captain is a lonely man sometimes.   He was due much respect and loyalty.    Even now she could not help but worry about him, alone.  He had been so now for three years, ever since she had went into the academy. "About as well as mine then," The smile turned into a sympathetic nod, ~I bet he did not accuse her of cheating or threatened to finish her career!~  Again, she didn't understand the response and got the feeling the Dr. was too distracted and assumed on a better day things would have went differently.   She actually felt sorry for the doctor and her heavy load.  The doctor's medical tricorder seemed to be on the fritz and so she just accepted the balance of the testing as something to be gotten through. "There, all done!"  Ava resealed the swab and it disappeared back into her pocket as she settled herself back onto the edge of the desk and took up her mug of coffee in both hands, "That's you unless you need anything else?"  "No, doctor I will not be keeping you any longer.  Thank you."  She exited the office more quickly that she intended and hoped the doctor was still distracted and had not noticed.  As she left sick bay she caught sight of a nurse that seemed very attentive to the patient he was working on.  She watched for a moment and made a point to remember his face.  He had a kind gentle face.  ~I will have to find him in the recreation room, he looks like someone who vould make a good friend. ~  Martzia thought to herself as she exited the sickbay .  She thought the Dr. nice too and she felt she was actually quite personable.  She would try catching her too … on a not so busy day. Perfectly shaped eyebrows rose, forehead became lined as Ava watched with what could only be described as mild amazement as the Chameloid left her office at high speed. "How odd." The doctor summarised as she collected the other ensigns hardly touched mug and returned it back to the replicator. She had only ever known one other of Kosman's species and he had been distinctly different. ~And one hell of a kisser.~   (Reply Martiza, none) (Posted by Jodie) (USS Mithrandir – CO Ready Room – AOPS/CONN Barnie Jonathon Sn Stone – 1700) BJ piled out of the courier shuttle with a duffel bag strapped to his back and towing behind him a small grav-cart with two footlockers riding on the cart.  He found a place to store his gear temporarily and then used his PADD to trace a path to the CO's ready-room, which was on deck 1. Everything in the last three weeks had been a whirl-wind of gathering and prepping for his first assignment aboard the USS Mithrandir, a Nova class starship.  BJ spent two days shopping for gifts and poggy-bait, sending letters to family and friends, spending a last night out with friends from the academy, gathering up and packing his effects, and then pumping friends and acquaintances for any information on the Mithrandir and her crew.  Another two and a half weeks were spent jumping from courier shuttle to courier shuttle as he made his way to the Mithrandir. BJ caught the lift to deck 1 and found Captain Stakes' quarters without any problems.  He ran his fingers through his red hair one last time.  ~relax man – I want to start out on the right foot here,~ BJ thought to himself. BJ tapped the chime and spoke into the microphone/speaker.  "Sir, Ensign Stone reporting for duty, sir." (Reply Captain Archibald Stakes) (Posted by Mike Barrett) (USS Mithrandir - Ready Room – A-OPS/CONN – BJ Stone - 1706) Ensign Stone smiled warmly as he took the offered hand of Captain Stakes and shook it politely but firmly.  ~The Captain seems a little bit distracted~, BJ thought to himself. Captain Stakes escorted BJ into the Ready Room and pointed to the sofa while asking BJ to take a seat.  BJ sat down and leaned forward slightly as Captain Stakes sat down in a facing chair.  Captain Stakes started the conversation by noting BJ's previous time in the Free Trader Society and rambled through a fairly normal play along the theme of a good captain running a tight ship and his expectations that BJ would adhere to the standard rules and regulations of Starfleet.  BJ almost smiled to himself as he remembered other meetings with other captains within the FTS…  A couple of those captains could blister paint from the bulkhead and took an almost perverse pride in rattling the cage of new crewmembers.  It appeared Captain Stakes was not cut of that cloth but would at least give BJ enough rope to hang himself with… BJ focused back in as the Captain was making a point regarding OPS. Captain Stakes leaned forward, looking directly in Ensign Stone's eyes and said, "Your position on this vessel is in my opinion of crucial importance. Operations is the main department on any Star fleet vessel and this ship will not be different from that. You will be in constant limelight, Ensign, which you may consider a blessing but most officers consider a curse. There will be nowhere to hide. I hope you will be ready to take up the heavy burden." "Sir, I look forward to the challenges of OPS and CONN.  I've got a strong background in my past with the FTS and four years of the best training Starfleet can provide.  In fact, I've already spent some time reading up on the Mithrandir.  She's a fine ship and I look forward to digging in and working with the rest of the Operations team to help keep things running smoothly on board.  I had a chance while at Earth to read up on some of the updates that are being installed in the transporter and tractor beam systems for Nova class ships that are being deployed during refits for other ships." BJ leaned back in the sofa and ran his hand through his hair.  "Of course the first thing I want to do after meeting the OPS team is work our way through a full diagnostics series of tests to see where we are at with all of our systems.  Since we are basically on escort duty right now we should have some time to work our way through all of the systems plus our shuttlecraft." BJ again leaned forward, this time tapping the PADD to take notes.  "Captain, if you have any concerns you would like to share with me I'll push those up on my priority list.  Otherwise, I'm really anxious to store my gear, meet the rest of the Operations team, and then roll up my sleeves and get to work." She was more than a little glad that her shift was over and that the LMH was now covering sickbay. The plan for the rest of the night was simple; shower, a cup of her mother’s special herbal tea and bed. In that order.  Walking into her shared quarters Ava blinked, eyes adjusting to the low lightening, ~What the hell?~ It was as the door slid shut behind her  that Ava's eyes picked out the two bodies intertwined on the couch.   "Sorry!"  Ava gasped and made a bee line for her room, her escape marred somewhat her tripping and stumbling over discarded boots. The Doctor nearly went all her length but managed to catch her balance just before she did and escaped into her room. Embarrassed and amused in equal measure.    Sitting on the edge of her bed Ava sat and stared at the door for a couple of minutes and finally smiled, shaking her head the doctor pulled off her boots and undid her hair it was then that the door chimed.   "Come." Ava knew before she entered who it would be.   A blond young human with messy corkscrew curls entered, pulling her dressing gown tight around her body she wrapped her arms around herself, her expression full of Chagrin, "I'm sorry about that, I didn't think you'd be in so soon."   "Don't worry about it, these things happen." Ava stood and held out her hand, "Ava."   The other human took it with a sickly but relieved smile. "Rosaline."   "Nice to finally meet you." Ava ran a hand through her blond straight hair and looked passed her room-mate through the door, "And your friend?"   "He thought it best to go back to his own quarters....coitus interruptus and all that."   A shrug of a slim shoulder Ava smile was arched, "Or in Flagrante delicto...depending on which side your on."   The two women looked at each and both started laughing, "You fancy a drink?" Roseline offered.   Ava thought about it and nodded, "I'm desperate for a shower, 10 minutes?"   "Sure," Roseline visibly relaxed, it was not the best way to meet ones room-mate but friendships had to start somewhere, right?   (Reply none) (Posted by Jodie) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mission Wagon Train Amongst the Stars Stardate 2408.06.22 Day 16 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<  (USS Mithrandir – Engineering Design Area – ACSO Martzi - 0100)   Martzia was anxious to meet with the Assistant CEO. She had read some of the specs she was working with and thought it an excellent idea. The Klingon was very sharp and seemed to have a command of both the engineering and the mathematics involved. However she wondered about the specified auto parallel trajectories. It might be better to set up a completely original algorithm for each application, giving them more diversity and accuracy in the scan. She thought if you used an initial base it would be easy to simply modify each for the particular application.   She entered the Design area of the Engineering department and saw Ensign tha'nISta' hard at work. She was a striking figure, powerful yet poised, focused yet versatile, and most of all beautiful yet in a mysterious sort of way. She noticed the distinctive arch to her brow and the slightly pointed ear tips. Not as sharp as a Vulcan but noticeable. ~dhis is going to be an absolutely wonderful person to work with.~  She knew she was a mixture of Klingon, Vulcan, and Human and that the first two were dominant over the last but every mixture was a bit special and offered its own branding DNA.   She straightened her back and broadened her shoulders slightly and stepped into view. "Excuse me I am here to meet with you on Captain's orders. My name is Martzia Kosman and I am the new Assistant CSO." She stood and gave the typical greeting. (Reply, Lanista)   "He thought perhaps I could help you and I do have an idea or two. Why don't you bring me up to date."   (Replay, Lanista) (Posted by Ber) (USS Mithrandir – Engineering Design AArea – ACEO ENS/SG Lanista - 0101) Lani' was hard at work, burning the midnight oil, attempting to make the RBOMPDS (or Rapid-Bloom Offboard Microprobe Polyhedral-Deployment System) operational before it was truly needed. She didn't notice that someone entered the room, so engrossed in her work was the statuesque Klingoness. Lani' didn't care for the humanly-long descriptive name nor the acronym. "We should call it something like the Swarm of Hornets," Lani' muttered. The stranger - who in earlier times would have been perceived sooner as a potential assassin - spoke before Lanista knew she was there: "Excuse me I am here to meet with you on Captain's orders. My name is Martzia Kosman and I am the new Assistant CSO." She stood and gave the typical greeting. Lanista cursed inwardly. Grandfather would have chi ded her severely for letting her guard down. Lani' sniffed the air. "Chameloid," she said. "Good. There are some tight spaces on this ship I haven't quite learned to wedge myself into. Jefferies Tube 22-A needs to be scanned for residual dekyons." Lani' waved a tricorder - presumably in the direction of Jefferies Tube 22-A and then at Martzia. "He thought perhaps I could help you and I do have an idea or two. Why don't you bring me up to date." Lani' grinned a broad, Klingon smile - exposed perfect, Vulcan teeth. "Yes, of course. Direct in conversation, indirect in appearance," the Klingoness said in the language most often used by chameloids. "I served with one of your kind on my father's ship. 'Argho' was that shifter's name. I'd always thought it would be interesting to graft chameloid DNA to my own. Of course, Starfleet would never allow it. Or perhaps Orion? Imagine being able to get what you want without having to ask for it." (Reply Martzia) "As, for example, a work partner who understands the project," Lani grinned while motioning toward Martzia. Two, you have already read the schematics. Imagine being able to get what you want without having to ask for it." "It isn't that simple, your Argho must have been older.  I only can do simple modifications and a very few complete changes.     Hummm, now that would be interesting.  I have been practicing a Klingon change, far from perfected.   I find them … interesting."  Martzia replied. "I understand these are to be shot of a torpedo port and you are planning on using the Euler-Lagrange equations.  I take it you are using both the Differential and Derivative within the plane?    Have you accounted for the shifting magnetic flux within the differential geometry of curved space-time?"  Martzia looked over the PADD in her hand a bit.  "You know I have some …." "It may be better to use a Poincare' Map or an Hénon-Heiles equation, the time required to compute the space, or surface, of section should be greatly reduced?   Of course we could use the Euler-Lagrange equations for the overall trajectory and add the other equations as a secondary factoring equation once set into place to keep a check on the positioning and relay information. What do you think?" "As, for example, a work partner who understands the project," Lani grinned while motioning toward Martzia. "I look forward to your input. You would not have told me you had an idea or two unless there were two facts behind that claim. One, you have more than two. Scientists always s do. Two, you have already read the schematics. Please, HIDojmoH*" "Thank you for that complement but it is I who am impressed at your ingenuity.  Personally I think it helps to have different points of view on a project.   However, it is your project and my ideas are just that, ideas.  So should we dig in a bit?"  Martzia smiled, she loved working and it didn't matter on what but this was especially a treat to work with such a mind.  Relaxation could be found in just contemplating the challenge.  Lani' was definitely going to challenge her knowledge and principles and that would be even more fun.  ~Engineers are just scientists with a different perspective.~  "Now how have you calculated in the Trigonometric parallax and what are the reference points you are using?  I see ingenious…." Martzia and Lanista got to work.  "I see you have that configured and ...." (USS Mithrandir – Engineering Design Area – ACSO Martzia -0330) They had been at it for what seemed shorter than the hours revealed and not having the Vulcan part of Lanista's anatomy she grew weary and knew she needed a wake up charge.  She and the engineer had seemed to get along and be working well.  So as she bent over the work in progress she stood up straight and bent backwards stretching her back.  She knew there was only one way to get a break so she teased the extremely focused engineer.  In a most incredulous voice she said, "By the way have you come up with a plan to keep a straying alien from using these probes for target practice?  It assures the success of the data retrieval process while we carry on with our mission."  She smiled widely and laughed a deep laugh.  "Dhere is always, a battle to fight somewhere.  Let us get a hot drink and configure a battle strategy over it for dhese little probes.  I need a break even if you don't.  Do you know of a place this hour or we can go to mine?  I have is a bit of baghol or Vulcan spice tea, among other things.  I have other choices less, gentle if you like."  (Reply, Lanista) (Posted by Ber) (USS Mithrandir – Engineering Design Area – ACEO Lanista - 0- 0331) After a couple hours of work, the Chameloid asked, "By the way have you come up with a plan to keep a straying alien from using these probes for target practice?  It assure the success of the data retrieval process while we carry on with our mission." Lanista grinned. "The probes themselves are very small. That, in and of itself, should prevent adequate target acquisition. I am considering making the housing for the microprobes out of some energy-absorbent composite. That would prevent any so-called alien sensor signals from detecting these. The ACSO smiled back and laughed a very Klingon laugh. She said, "Dhere is always, a battle to fight somewhere. Let us get a hot drink and configure a battle strategy over it for dhese little probes." Lani' was impressed. The warfighting analogy seemed genuine. The hybrid Amazon could not detect any trace of an attempt by Martzia to relate to Lani' on the basis of Klingon aggressiveness. No, the mention of battle and strategy had been -- or seemed to be -- entirely natural for the shifter. "I have, now that you mention it, a plan for weaponizing these. The microprobes could easily be replaced with microtorpedoes. That would be of limited application against a starship, but against a20shuttlecraft or runabout it would be devastating." "I need a break even if you don't," Martzia said. "Do you know of a place this hour or we can go to mine?  I have is a bit of baghol or Vulcan spice tea, among other things.  I have other choices less, gentle if you like." "I believe Hard2Port is open. If not, I'm sure we can find a replicator that needs ... tinkering ... if you wish something less gentle." Lani' tossed her PADD on the chair and waved toward the door. Lani' didn't need sleep as much as most, but allowing a break for Martzia would only advantage the outcome and hasten success. "After you..." Lanista said. (Reply Martzia, any) (Posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir,  Deck four, Holodeck 2, Acmo Ensign (jg) Ava McGregor,06:30)   It had been John Ritchie that had designed this holodeck programme for her, a 22nd birthday present, he had updated it over the years, tweaking it as she asked and adding a few surprises here and there. In Ava opinion it was the best Parkour training programme there was, second to none.   The ensign stood in the middle of the holodeck and carefully applied the second skin to her hands, even though the safety protocols were firmly in place, you could still do yourself an injury without actually falling to your death, Ava was partial to keeping the skin on her hands intact.  "Computer run Ava. Parkour.7.8." The deck around her rippled and changed. Ava found herself standing in the middle of a park, the grass beneath her feet was short and wet from rain. The doctor looked up the sky was heavy with clouds tinged pink and red. Of the sun she could see the occasional glimpse behind cloud low on the city sky line as the wind cool against her face played with hair left lose. There was a distinct autumnal feel to the early evening setting. And that was one of the things Ava loved about this programme, every time you ran it was a unique setting, no two practice sessions were the same.   Setting off at a slow pace Ava headed for the city at an uninterrupted run that served as a second warm up, complimenting the stretches she had done before. The city was full of commuters and ground vehicles, tall building of glass and steel towered over urban living quarters and architecture much older and worn, the old living comfortably side by side with the new, a paradise play ground for an expert traceur.   She went high, her path clear and uncomplicated to her trained eye. There was grace and fluidity to Ava's movements as she jumped and climbed, flipped and ran. Never going back always moving forward, her balance and personal spatial awareness that of a long practiced veteran. She ran along a high wall which lead to another and a cat leap followed by a reverse vault and an easy long drop that brought her path across a high slatted roof and a diagonal gap jump, one of her favourites, moving from a high to a low roof.  The roll digging gravel into her shoulder that she brushed off as she flipped onto her feet and was off again, searching and moving through her path, obstacles becoming nothing more than part of the experience. This was her meditation, a cathartic cleansing of the soul that now after so many years of practice Ava could not possibly live without.   (Reply any/none) (Posted by Jodie) (USS Mithrandir – Astrophysics Lab – ACSO Martzi - 1000)   It had been a busy day so far and still there were things to be done. She desperately wanted to get the science department organized and get to work. Before she could finish her analysis she had to meet with Crewman Masterson. She appreciated and understood the physical and perhaps the counseling session but they were a means to get into her labs. As she entered the physics lab, Crewman Masterson was not present and so she looked at the equipment and began to go through the files laying about and gather the information she could.   She had visited the planetology lab earlier and found them in good order, or fair. The placement was a bit disorientating for the science team. Truly the labs should be together but she wasn't on the Mithrandir when this all took place and so, for the time being, it would stay that way. The Geologist was a brilliant man but a bit unorganized. That too was no problem he was more than willing to get her his things in an orderly fashion. Seems he also was a talented swimmer and enjoyed track also. The Chemist had been a working on something when she stopped by and would need to visit her later, if her was an appropriate term for her species.   Now it was time to finally try and catch Crewman Masterson. She could tell the files were not complete and needed a face to face meeting. She would just simply wait and work on the Equations for Dr. Wiener until he arrived. She noticed there was no clear marker board or markers available. Granted many used other means now but she always through herself into her work. "Computer please produce a opaque anti glare marker board 5'x4'feet. Place it 36" from the floor level and movable with wheels and rotating horizontally enabling it to rotate or flip for use on both sides. [Please specify level of opacity?]   "Make it 80%."   The board appeared center room. "Now, for 8 color markers, two each, red, blue, green, and black. Dry erase style once set of medium tip and one set of bold tip. Also, one eraser."   The markers appeared. "Thank you." Of course there was no response but Martzia didn't need one she began noting and forming the bottom analysis of the equation. She knew it was right but was fascinated by what he had come up with and discovered. If she could just ….. she sunk into the world of her dreams and began visualizing with every mark the results… She was unleashed with her board at last, a comfortable pace sank in. She had stop suddenly stoodd back walk around the board and begin again many times before Masterson appeared, all while vocalizing in what most would consider an unintelligible language mixed with the physical and vocal.   (Reply R. Sanok breathed deeply and let it out slowly, an emotional reaction he found he had never eliminated since he had purged his emotions. Ever since the meeting on the colony, the one where he had almost committed insubordination, Sanok had known something wasn't quite right.  Now that the colonists were packed into the freighters, and he had freedom to conduct an investigation, Sanok had been discreetly asking questions. After talking to many colonists, Sanok had finally found a lead.  The problem now, was proving the allegations, something that would be virtually impossible.  At this point, with the physical evidence behind them on the planet, all that was left, was finding eye witnesses willing to testify, and enough of them, to convict those behind the conspiracy. "Thank you for what you told me," said Sanok.  "You should return to your area now, and be very careful." "Don't worry about me.  I know how to take care of myself."  With that, the informant was gone. Sanok sighed again and pondered his next move.  He considered contacting Ben to assist him, as the two worked well together.  They had also become friends.  Deciding not to do that yet, Sanok returned to the makeshift office that had been provided for him on the Anemoi.  Once seated, Sanok almost decided to just let the matter drop.  However, when he saw the picture of the dead girl that was still on the desk, he pushed that thought far from his mind. "I will find the people responsible for doing this to you," Sanok said to the picture.  "You will rest in peace." "So, tell me about yourself.  What do you do on the Mithrandir?" She began.  (Reply, Stone) The waitress came up to greet them and take their order.  "I think I will have a large bowl of Hummus and Pita with a side of assorted salad veggies and falafel.  Could you manage a glass of strong dark unsweet tea?" (Reply, Mei Ling) "Thank you."  Martzia handed the floor to her table mate.  As she did so she noticed an odd creature that she didn't remember seeing earlier that morning in the establishment.  She sat and watched its actions as her new friend ordered his food.   (Reply, Stone) (Posted by Ber) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mission Wagon Train Amongst the Stars Stardate 2408.06.23 Day 17 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<  (USS Mithrandir - TwoPort - Ensign (jg) Ava McGregor Acmo -1027) "Hi Ava, you wanted to see me?" Mei Ling said with a smile just as Esme said, "Here I am, Ava, what's all the mystery?"   Setting her coffee cup down with a clink Ava's smile of greeting was coloured with a large dollop of relief, lurking in the depths of her grey eyes was the shadow of a desperate woman. "I need help...of gigantic proportions."   "Before we start, let's find a table. Beltan, please bring a pot of real coffee, and a plate of pastries over will you?" Mei Ling grinned at Ava and Esme. "It seems to me that we could do with something nice to eat and drink if we're going to be planning something. That *is* why you called us both here, isn't it, Ava?" she asked, her eyes twinkling.   Ava hit the other woman with her best winning smile and started to laugh ruefully, "Spot on."   The three women sat down together at a table next to a large mural. Esme waited until Beltan had brought the coffee and pastries, and Mei Ling had poured the coffee, before she turned to Ava.   "So, how can we help?" she asked.   The coffee cup was already in Ava's hand and she was eyeing the pastries thoughtfully, ~Another one is not going to hurt, I could just do a longer session in the gym~  Snapping her attention away from delicious selection on the table Ava wrinkled her nose. "I invited the professor over for dinner this evening as a thank you for all the input he and his staff have had over the past couple of days... and well", Ava shrugged one shoulder as her rueful expression returned, "He's only gone and invited his entire senior staff and every semi important person that's crammed aboard the colony ships! That and every captain in the fleet and god alone knows who else." The young doctor shook her head as one perfectly manicured hand reached for a raspberry tart, "I'm already getting complaints from people who's not received an invite... give it another couple of hours and the Captain will want to know what the hell is going on..and well," Ava shot his daughter an apologetic look, "I would really rather avoid that right now,"   (Reply Mei ling and Esme) (Posted by Jodie)
