Zzt said, a look of confusion crossing his face. "Zzt no ready dinner yet. Zzt just have breakfast. Maybe we get dinner later. We got work do now." Lorimar *almost* laughed out loud when he heard the massive officer's reply. ~Now ah understand what Commander Stakes meant about 'communication difficulties'! This should be fun, I like this lad already!~ "Commander, let me rephrase a bit. My manner of speaking is a bit obscure. It was the way we spoke in my home growing up, and I have to focus carefully to speak in unaccented Federation Standard. My apologies, sir." Unable to repress a smile, Bob continued. " 'Dinnae' is the same as 'do not' in this case. As in, 'I do not wish to bump into your crews'" Bob smiled up at Zzt again as he listened further. "Zzt was conducting upgrades to tactical systems, including TIHS," Zzt continued, turning his attention back to the MSD. "Zzt also got some upgrades to warp drive to make. "Zzt down load repair logs to you PADD for you review." Lorimar nodded, pleased at the businesslike attitude of this gigantic officer. "That will be fine with me sir. After all, one of my specialties is power distribution systems. Commander Stakes made it quite clear we had to be ready to clear the yard in four days time... so long as we can meet that goal with all our primary systems on line, any of the secondary stuff we can work out as we go." He glanced around the room again, taking in the activity of the busy crews, pleased with the pace of the work. "Seems that you have the crews well organized already, so I suggest we keep the assignments as is. In terms of the upgrades, I will of course need some specifics, so that I can perform the proper work on the power grid. Anything I should know that is not downloaded to my PADD? "She's leaving and I need to be on her." A train of struggling crewmen pushed a baker's dozen worth of crates. During the war, supplies were scarce, but that didn't mean they all had to starve. Over the years, Donald had built up a network of contacts that supplied him with exotic and natural items. And upon his assignment to Boudicca, he had received a number of gifts. Granted that some of them were from the "other" side, there were some things that even war could not divide. "Sir, I'm sorry, but the Boudicca is leaving now. You need to get onto the ship!" said the transporter operator. "Not without my things!" he insisted as he pushed along his crates onto the transporter pad. "Sir, we won't be able to beam everything to the transporter. It's not designed for so much matter." said the stressed transporter operator. "That is not a problem." replied Donald calmly. "Send my belongings to the cargo bay and I will go to the transporter room." Usually when Donald transferred onto a ship, he would travel by shuttle. But the location of the shipyard had taken his shuttle longer than they had expected. By the time he had off-loaded and checked his cargo off the shuttle, he found out the Boudicca was already shipping out. He had to press several crewmen into service to move his cargo by hand. He had tried to get authorization to simply use the transporter from the shuttle bay, but because of the time, he had been refused. So he had led through a series of corridors a wagon train of crates to the cargo bay, knowing that the regular transporter would not be able to handle the load. Donald waited for the last of the his belongings to dematerialize before running out of the cargo bay following the poor crewman to the nearest transporter bay. Donald huffed a little, unprepared for quite so much activity. As it was, he had served on a ship that was in deep exploration and it was quite a surprise to return to the turmoil in the Federation. While it had yielded a number of interesting findings, it was not terribly exciting, which suited Donald just fine. ~But we live to serve~ he thought, as he stepped onto the transporter pad. He nodded to the transporter chief and soon felt the tingling sensation over take him. (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Commander Archibald Stakes - 09:04) "Sir?" Archibald looked at the OPS-officer. "Yes, Mister Goran?" "Just before we left the spacedock, they beamed over an officer, Sir. A .. Lieutenant Johnson, Sir. He arrived in Transporter room 1 and his luggage in transporter room 2." Archibald frowned. "An error?" he asked. "Uhh, no, Sir. Apparently there was not enough room on the transporter pad to beam him and his luggage together." The frown deepened. "And why did this ... Lieutenant Johnson beam over?" "Apparently to report in, Sir. But we have no record of him needing to come on board so security got involved." Archibald looked at his console for the latest messages from the dock and shook his head. "The dock just sent a message," he said with a sigh. "An urgent dispatch, apparently. OK, have the security detail escort the Lieutenant to the Bridge." "Yes, Sir," Goran replied and contacted the transporter room. After a few heated hissed words, the Ensign turned back. "Uhhh, the Lieutenant would like to gather his luggage first, Sir." Archibald closed his eyes and said slowly: "Tell Lieutenant Johnson that transporter room 2 is twelve decks down and that if he does not report to the Bridge within 3 minutes, he WILL be reunited with his luggage. In outer space!" Archibald sighed again. "Oh, Mister Haverstaad? Have a security detail pick up Mister Johnson's belongings and bring them to the bridge. I am curious to see why they couldn't be sent to the same pad. Of course the luggage will be fully scanned first." (Reply Haverstaad, iyw, Johnson, any) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (USS Boudicca - Transporter Room 1 - OPS Lt (jg) Donald Johnson - 09.05) Donald stepped off the transporter pad with a grin. "Thanks for waiting for me. Can you tell me where my belongings went to?" he asked. "Uh...." started the transporter operator, as he looked down at his console. "It's been sent to transporter room 2." "Excellent, thank you very much. My name is Donald Johnson." he said, extending his hand to the transporter operator. "Pleased to meet you." Donald exited the transporter room swiftly heading for the nearest turbolift ~Let's see, transporter room 2.... I think that's on deck 14~ he thought, trying to recall what he had studied during his trip here. His thoughts were equally divided between taking in his new surroundings and worrying about his cargo. Even though the architecture of Federation ships tended to be the same, there was a subtle difference that took some time to get to know. It was said that any crewman worth his salt could tell his ships by the vibration in the deck plates. ~Ah, here we are~ he thought as he stepped in and turned around. "Deck 14" he said. Just as the doors were about to close a large fist appeared stopping the doors from closing. "You are Lieutenant Johnson?" said the towering figure in a deep basso voice. Donald blinked, a bit surprised, and stared up at the gold colored wall that spoke to him. "Yes," he said, "Can I help you?" "You must go to the bridge." stated the figure matter of factly. "Already? I just need to head down to check on my cargo and I'll be up in a bit. Is there some emergency?" he asked, a bit concerned that he was being called to the bridge already, the ship couldn't have cleared the asteroid field yet. "Commander Stakes, says Bridge in three minutes. Or your luggage gets spaced! He does not like to be kept waiting. If you're not careful, you'll join your luggage." answered the immovable mass. Donald gulped, ~My Food!~ "The Bridge it is!" he said, with a nervous smile, as the crewman stepped into the turbolift with him. "Bridge," he announced to the turbolift. "So you know me and you are?" "I am Duk!" he replied "Duk? Pleased to meet you. Thank you for finding me." Donald replied The doors opened and Donald stepped onto the bridge. ~Better do this the official way.~ thought Donald as he scanned the bridge. ~That must be him~ PADD in hand, he walked up swiftly to the command chair and said to the man sitting there with the command pips, "Lieutenant Donald Johnson reporting for duty!" (Reply Stakes, Any) (posted by Kaweo Kanoho) (USS Boudicca, Main Bridge, Commander Archibald Stakes, 10.06) "Ensign Jael al-Sharif reporting for duty SIR." Archibald swiveled the chair and regarded the officer. "Better, Ensign, much better. Follow." Archibald got up from his chair. "Mr. Goran, you have the bridge. I'll be in my ready room." Without a look back Archibald strode into the Captain's Ready Room. (USS Boudicca, Ready Room, Commander Archibald Stakes, 10.07) Archibald walked over to the desk and sat himself down. He flipped open the computer screen and accessed the file that he had been reading on the Bridge. "Interesting reading, this file," he said without intonation. "Cadet al-Sharif is someone with attitude who only respects the rules that she feels apply to her." he read out and then followed on. "This was your counsellor's assessment just before graduation at the Academy. Oh, and apparently you are also a 'loose canon'. Splendid. I can see that we will get along just fine. Now, personally I do not let other people's thoughts and ideas cloud my judgment, but in your case I think I might have to." He regarded the officer for a second. "Make no mistake, Ensign. On board this vessel you will respect all rules that *I* feel that apply to you. In fact they will be the same rules that will apply for *all* who serve aboard this ship. You will abide by all the rules or you will spend most of your time in the brig. I trust I made myself clear on this subject?" (Reply Jael) Archibald flipped down the screen. "I also saw that you are returning to this ship and that Commander Rivers saw it fit to give you a good evaluation report. That stands you in good stead. Unfortunately the reasons for your removal from this vessel seems shrouded in secrecy. Combined with the fact that you don't seem to need to undergo physical examinations and if needed an Admiral will provide us with all required medical information? That is, to say it mildly, a strange set up. A *very* strange set up. A set up so strange that as soon as I read it my mind came up with one word. Spy. Unfortunately my experience with spies have been somewhat one-sided so far. They can not be trusted, they have little regard for the safety of the vessel they are on, including the crew on it, and they tend to feel themselves above the law. A bit like your personality, I just realised. What an interesting coincidence, don't you think?" Archibald cut an attempt by the Ensign to speak short with a hand gesture. "Let's deal with the first priority first. Trust. Why would I trust someone with a misted over background like yours and for that matter why would I trust anything that you say?" Finally a doctor appeared at her side and instead of taking more test began to speak to her. "You asked to see me, Doctor?" Josh sat up again. "Yes I did. I gave a suggestion about Colonel Straton's care and it is most urgent that it be implemented immediately." "Don't worry, I made sure your recommendations are carried out, even as we speak the Colonel is being taken to a more secure area and I have personally given her a shot of telepathy suppressant and some strong sedatives to keep her asleep." Josh nodded slightly happier than she had been before since finally someone was willing to take her seriously. "Thank you Dr... Jalen is it. I appreciate you doing so. "Thank you Dr... Jalen is it. I appreciate you doing so. Now if you could just certify me as fit for duty I can get on with my job, thank you." Suppressing the urge to smile in understanding to her superior officer, Jahlen kept a straight face and listened politely, no doubt were their situations reversed, Jahlen would be just as exasperated and impatient to help out. "I am asking you to check me over and certify me as able for duty. Forget about the surgery to restore me to myself at present, that is not a priority, it can be done later, and lord knows I've lived with it long enough that it really doesn't bother me. I need you to give me something for this god awful headache and get me certified fit, so that I can take charge." Although Jahlen empathized with Dr. Caskie, ranking officer or not, she was still a patient and as such, rank didn't come into the factor as far as Jahlen was concerned. Until Dr. Caskie was deemed fit for duty, Jahlen was the ranking doctor in Sickbay. Josh sat back on the bed watching Jahlen and then said. "Doctor, that last was a suggestion. Do you need me to make it an order? ~Hah, trying to pull rank are you? Tsk tsk bad on you!~ This time Jahlen's lips did twitch into a slight smile. "Dr. Caskie, you know as well as I do that while you are a patient you are under my orders. However..." She turned away to get a hypospray of pain suppressant from a side counter and set the dosage to 500mg, then turned back again, "here is the pain medication you requested." She injected it into Dr. Caskie's neck then put the hypospray back on the counter and accessing her PADD, brought up the results of the tests and scans that were taken of the doctor. "...and your scans and tests results are concluded and show nothing that would cause us concern, so I will certify you as fit for duty." Jahlen authenticated her decision with her access code and digital signature and then pocketed the PADD. She extended her right hand to Dr. Caskie. The Boudicca looked as good as ever as his eyes glanced over the transporter room. The friendly looking officer who had just beamed him on board greeted him “Welcome back sir,”. “Thank you … it’s good to be back,” Carft answered with a friendly smile. Carft stepped of the transporter pad and decided to head for his quarters. (USS Boudicca – Deck 2 Corridor – AOPS Ensign (Jg) Carft Kea – 1833) As Carft walked threw the hall ways of the USS Boudicca he immediately felt the old sense of home returning to him. The same old corridors, same old smell. He hadn’t seen the Boudicca since they left it in the space dock for repairs. After that long old battle the Boudicca he left was barely functioning. Deck plates were missing there were peaces off relay’s lying around in the corridors, ceilings were about the come down. It looked like time had rewind. Like the battle never took place. Carft’s was nearing to the Turbo Lift when he suddenly felt a few flash backs coming back to him. He remembered the fight that took place in sickbay. The officer that fell, and the resistance they formed against the invading marines. He shook his head he didn’t enjoy thinking back to those moments. When he finally reached the turbo lift the doors swiftly opened as he stepped towards it, and stepped inside. (USS Boudicca – Turbo Lift – AOPS Ensign (Jg) Carft Kea – 1836) “Deck thee,” Carft commanded. as he gave that command the lift immediately started to move. He felt the calm sense in his mind returning. As the lift moved. It didn’t take long before the lift started to decelerate and stopped a computer voice spoke “Deck Three Senior Staff, and Officer Quarters,” Carft stepped out of the lift. (USS Boudicca – Deck 3 – AOPS Ensign (Jg) Carft Kea – 1840) The AOPS immediately recognised the old corridors and easily found his way back to his personal quarters. As he stood in front of the door he waited for a few seconds. He tried to picture in his head how he had left his quarters the last time he was here … well suffice it to say it wasn’t pretty. But who could blame him they were in combat. ~Maybe it’s not so bad~ Carft thought trying to stay positive. Carft reached for the door chime and tapped in his code. The door chime gave a few beeps and the doors opened slowly. Carft took one step inside his quarters, his noise suddenly recognised the smell of the several plants he had in his quarters which he hadn’t smelt for a while. (USS Bouddica – Deck 3 Carft’s Personal Quarters – AOPS Ensign (Jg) Carft Kea – 1846) Carft saw that his quarters was in a mess his books had fallen from there shelves, glass was lying around of broken pictures, and cups. ~Maybe it is so bad~ Carft thought. And started to reorganise his quarters he started recycling all of the broken stuff and re replicated it. He watered his plants. Put back all of his old books. Picture frames were replaced. Carft also replaced a trusty phaser beside his bed. ~Never know when it might come in handy~ he thought as he was taught by his former academy instructors to always be prepared for anything. A life on a star ship wasn’t without adventure . When he was done with that Carft replicated himself a cup of coffee. Fortunately not all of his coffee mugs were destroyed. Carft grinned as he read threw a last made log by him. He hadn’t been in his quarters since the ship went to red alert. The log stopped in mid sentence. He tapped a button on his old computer which also survived the battle. The computer activated. Carft looked up how the ship was doing. ~Nothing out of the ordinary, ship seems to be running at peak efficiency they did a fine job repairing it~ Carft noted when he went threw the repair logs. Then he lay down his PADD and decided to report to bridge. He wasn’t sure if it was protocol or something but he thought that he should. so he finished his cup of coffee turned of his computer gave a last look at his quarters and headed for the bridge. Lorimar was actually back to an *almost* normal sleep/work cycle, but there was and always would be plenty to keep an engineer busy on a starship. At the moment, he had his head and shoulders inside an open access panel near one of the turbolifts on Deck 3. Some of the backup ODN control conduits for the turbolift system were still damaged, and he was just now getting to that portion of repairs on his 'to-do' list. Humming quietly to himself as he worked, he heard the faint sound of footsteps coming in his direction around the bend in the corridor. He was nearly done with this portion of repair anyway, so he pulled his head back out of the open panel to see who was coming. ~an officer I've never met... which is to say most of the ship's company... at least those who haven’t been hanging out in access panels, utility corridors, and Jeffries tubes in the last several days!~ As the officer approached, Lorimar came to his feet and spoke a greeting. Archibald frowned for a second as he watched Rivers enter the Ready Room, before sitting himself down on the Captain's Chair. "You heard the word, Mister Johnson, not too many hitches, if you please." Archibald sighed and accessed the sent over crew transfer lists on his console. Not only were all off the Kitty Hawk coming to the Boudicca but to replace them half a crew was beaming back to the Kitty Hawk to take it home. He noticed how the lists were constantly updated, no doubt by the ship's computer upon each transport. Archibald studied both lists and nodded a few times before looking up. "Mr. Henderson, Mr. Goran. It's time to leave. Gather your belongings and make your way over to the Kitty Hawk." As both officers got up and left Archibald studied the file a bit longer. He suddenly noticed one of the officers on the Kitty Hawk was marked for transfer but was not on the list of the actual transfer. He frowned and accessed the relevant files from the Kitty Hawk. He sighed as he found what he had been looking for, the reason for the non-transfer. He leant back in his chair and shook his head. And to think that he had actually allowed a child to come on board. Then he considered the situation and it was very possible that someone hadn't been told yet. He looked over to his left side. "Yeoman, I have a task for you. There is a Mrs. Dela Rosa on board. Find her and bring her to..." Archibald fell silent and looked back to the Ready Room, where Rivers and Sevant still were busy. He frowned as he really needed a secluded spot, out of the prying eyes of everybody. Then he suddenly smiled. "Make that the FO's office. There's one around here somewhere, I am sure. I saw it on a deckplan. Oh, and Yeoman? don't bring the child. Oh, and Yeoman? We will not be transferring. That is all." He watched his daughter leave and he could tell that she was inwardly bursting to find out what had happened to him, and subsequently what would happen to her. But she was trained well enough not to ask even though she made it plain that she did not like it. As Esme had left, Archibald stood up. "Mr. Johnston, you have the bridge. I'll be in the FO's office until further notice. However, I expect to be informed instantly if anything goes awry." He nodded at the Lieutenant and then got up , making his way to what promised to be a difficult meeting. (Reply Dela Rosa, any) (Posted by Adrie Geuken) (USS Boudicca, Observation Lounge, MCO Lt. Sitting down she took a sip of her drink lifted the PADD she had brought with her and tried to lose herself in the mass of reports that she had to go through to get caught up after her five weeks away from the ship. Anything to take her mind off of her amnesia and the three weeks she had lost.
