I will not take threats from children thirty years my junior, not even a paranoid marine. I am at -least- your strength, you will not be able to snap me without thought, remember that.:: ::First,:: Eva replied evenly, ::It was not a threat. Simply a statement of fact. Second, I doubt you are much older than I, so don't presume to call me a child. I've mostly likely seen far more combat than you ever will. Lastly, I will not make an 'attempt' at you unless you give me cause to, and it's a good thing that you are 'at least my strength'. It's been a long time since I've had a real challenge.:: ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Near the Medical Tent, By the Golf Cart - 3O/StratOps - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 2120)  ==================================== Paul had been working with the small team by the tent until they had been called away. This left him to work directly with a scowling acolyte. The Acolyte himself became increasingly impatient as time went on. Questions were hurled at him about readiness, armament, magic, all sorts of things. Paul did his best to answer them all.   Then... the Archon shimmered into view.   "YOU!" she said in a commanding tone pointing at Paul, "Is your group ready? Do you have plans? We must strike now! I have received information that the Scion menace is massing, readying themselves to attack! Make your final preparations and peace with your gods."   Paul looked to the ancient woman and spoke lowly, "Archon, I believe we are indeed ready. I must check with my Captain. He will give the command, just as your people do not enter into combat without your command, and we will be underway."   The old woman nodded, still looking unhappy.   Paul tapped his comm badge.   "Lieutenant Commander Casely to Captain Sevant. Sir, the Archon is getting antsy. She insists that the Scions are readying to attack and we'll miss our window of opportunity if we wait. What are your orders, Sir?" asked Paul.   =^=Contact the sections, get them to move out. The Archon is more aware of the situation here than we are. Get our people and then do your best to remove yourself.=^= came the Boudicca captain's reply.   "Aye Sir," stated Paul closing the channel and tapping his comm badge again.   "Lieutenant Commander Casely to all battle groups. You are to move out now. Meet with members of the Archon's people to serve as your guide. Captain's orders are to liberate our people and withdraw," stated Paul over the general comm channel. He then closed the channel to all except senior staff, "Sorry to rush you folks, we just received intell that the Scions are on the move and getting ready to attack. We can't wait any longer." ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - On the Advance out of the encampment - 3O/StratOps - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 2122)  ==================================== Paul gripped the phaser rifle grimly. He hoped that his engineers would come through on the a frequency to pierce the Scion energy shields. Paul knew he also had other immediate needs. Mackenzie was leading her own group and they would be advancing in a prong equal in distance forward to there's. Straton and Stolev were also leading divisions forward. It would only be a matter of time before the four prongs would meet with the Scions, and then the battle would begin. Paul glanced around at the fresh faced men and women with him. He hoped that he wouldn't lose any, but knew that there was no certainty. They needed to get the captives back and find a way off this planet.   Paul tapped his comm badge, "Casely to division leaders, report. Lieutenant Rogers, we are going to need a medic in my division, please arm yourself and attach yourself to my division."   (Reply Rogers, any)   Paul marched on thin lipped, surveying the area in front of them. He turned to Matt McLaren who had joined them, "Lieutenant, I hope this rotating frequency idea of yours works. We're going to need to deal with this problem as quickly as possible," he turned to the rest of his division, "People, keep your weapons on a high stun setting. No deaths unless we have to. However, if your or another life is threatened do what you need to do." Paul was both concerned and cognisant that this was not their war. The Scions probably wouldn't have had negative contact at all with Starfleet if they hadn't have taken some of their officers.   ==================================== (Velorum IV-Near Medical Tent-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-21:24) ====================================     As Kaitlyn and her partner came out of the medical tent with the extra supplies they needed, they didn't chat much as Casely's voice came through the communicator.       "Lieutenant Commander Casely to all battle groups. You are to move out now. Meet with members of the Archon's people to serve as your guide. Captain's orders are to liberate our people and withdraw," stated Paul over the general comm channel.       Looking over at the counselor, she looked back at Kaitlyn.  Getting all the medical supplies they had gathered, they finished shoving the last bits of what they needed into the kit.       "No time like the present," Kaitlyn mumbled as her and the counselor both made their ways to prepare for rescue.   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp Medical Centre -  CMO - Doctor Mor'rel - 2142) ====================================   Mor'rel turned after his comm badge went off and looked at Rogers, still working in the laboratory section of the Medical Centre. Obviously Rogers, in his excitement and his concentration of the task had forgotten that they were both working in the same facility. Mor'rel strode up to Rogers.   "Excellent work Lieutenant," he said to the young man hunched over the scientific equipment, "Please, may I see what you have found."   (reply Rogers)   Mor'rel peered at the pollen curiously. Rogers had done a good job, it was certain that this was at least one author to their present problems. Mor'rel cocked an eyebrow. "You have done well Lieutenant. This most definitely is what we are looking for. Might I suggest that you create your vaccine immediately and we begin filling hyposprays with it? What supplies do you need to achieve your task?"   (Reply Rogers)   Mor'rel nodded and tapped his comm badge, "Mor'rel to all division chiefs and to the CO and FO. Please be advised that part of the problems we are encountering is due to a strange pollen that contains a hallucinogenic. Lieutenant Rogers is the one who found the problem and is currently working on a hypospray vaccine. It seems likely that if your people arrive at the medical tent within the hour, we should be able to vaccinate them against the pollen's affects."   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp Medical Center - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 2149) ==================================== "Excellent work Lieutenant. Please, may I see what you have found." Brian showed Mor'rel his findings. Has the Vulcan looked over his notes, Brian explained, "The hallucinogenic is extremely small. Thats probably why the tricorders didn't find it." "You have done well Lieutenant. This most definitely is what we are looking for. Might I suggest that you create your vaccine immediately and we begin filling hyposprays with it? What supplies do you need to achieve your task?" Brian thought about this, then rubbed his chin. "I would say, an average sized dose of Acetycholine for everyone who needs to be vaccinated. Dr. Mor'rel tapped his comm badge, "Mor'rel to all division chiefs and to the CO and FO. Please be advised that part of the problems we are encountering is due to a strange pollen that contains a hallucinogenic. Lieutenant Rogers is the one who found the problem and is currently working on a hypospray vaccine. It seems likely that if your people arrive at the medical tent within the hour, we should be able to vaccinate them against the pollen's affects." As the various division chiefs chimed in, Brian went to the crate that had all medical supplies and checked the log. Brian frowned at what he found. "Dr. Mor'rel, we only have enough Acetycholine for maybe 8 personal. 10 at most. Without access to the ship, we can't get any more," (reply Mor'rel) "I would suggest that we inject only the people that are absolutely required for this mission, sir." Brian recommonded. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp, Commander Trevan West- 2150) ====================================    "Mor'rel to all division chiefs and to the CO and FO. Please be advised that part of the problems we are encountering is due to a strange pollen that contains a hallucinogenic. Lieutenant Rogers is the one who found the problem and is currently working on a hypospray vaccine. It seems likely that if your people arrive at the medical tent within the hour, we should be able to vaccinate them against the pollen's affects."     Trevan responded to the call, "Doctor, this is Trevan, that is great to hear, how do we know when these people are infected?"   (reply CMO)       Trevan scouted the base for his CEO, or any engineer that hadn't been infected to his astonishment, he could not, "West to Lt McLaren, I need you and any engineers you can find and meet me at the northern perimeter now." he cut the transmission.   (reply McLaren)       Within moments, he saw Lt McLaren and several officers tagging behind them struggling to keep up with his fast walking pace. "Lt, I know this is a messy deal and I hate to put this on your head, but if you don't get us into contact with the Boudicca very very soon, we will all be dead or so far gone we may as well be. I don't have a definitive timeline for you but let's just say, you don't have long." Trevan nodded and let the man do his job, "If you need any assistance, I will be in the command tent."   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp Medical Centre -  CMO - Doctor Mor'rel - 2152) ====================================   Mor'rel looked at the younger man and cocked an eyebrow.   "That is most disconcerting. Make as much as you can. Go to the leaders of the group and innoculate them. We have very little time. We must ready the medical area for triage," stated Mor'rel.   (Reply Rogers)   Mor'rel nodded, "Talk to whoever is in charge. See if you can be of use to him or her. Now, we have only a small amount of time to finish."   With that, Mor'rel began quickly reconfiguring the Medical Tent. He knew there would be incoming wounded soon.   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp Medical Center - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 2156) ==================================== "That is most disconcerting. Make as much as you can. Go to the leaders of the group and innoculate them. We have very little time. We must ready the medical area for triage," stated Mor'rel. "Yes, sir," Brian said. He prepared the eight hyprosprays and walked out. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 2159) ==================================== Brian walked up to man wearing Commander's rank pips. "Sir, this will keep you protected from the hallucinogenic properties of this planet's wildlife," Brian said. (reply West, iyw) Brian injected the Commander in the neck. "Your good to go, sir," Brian said before walking a few more steps and spotting Kaitlyn. His mind drifted back to the memories on Geneva, but he put his place in the now. He walked over to her. "Dr. Mackenzie... this dosage will keep you safe from the hallucinogenic effects everybody's been experiencing," Brian said. (reply Mackenzie, iyw) Brian again, injected Kaitlyn and started walking. Finally he found the captain. "Sir, this will keep you protected from the visions that have been occurring," Brian explained. (reply Sevant, iyw) Brian then injected him, and turned and glanced around the base camp, trying to find the next command officer when he was paged over the comm badge. =^= Lieutenant Rogers, we are going to need a medic in my division, please arm yourself and attach yourself to my division, =^= the familiar voice of Commander Casely said. Brian tapped his comm badge. "Aye, sir. I'll report to you, Rogers out." Brian said and he returned to the medical tent. "Dr. Mor'rel, I wasn't able to finish injecting the battle group leaders. I was summoned by Lieutenant..." Brian stopped has he corrected himself," uh, Commander Casely to be the medic for his divison. Another medical officer needs to finish, sir," Brian said. (reply Mor'rel, iyw) Brian nodded and grabbed a medical kit and placed it strap around his neck. He grabbed a phaser, resting on a near by crate and checked its power supply. He placed it in the holster on his waist. He started walking towards Commander Casely's location. He slide his hands over the phaser on belt. The first time he wore one was when war broke out. He never thought he'd go into battle, and if he did, it would be with another Starfleet officer. He then arrived infront of Commander Casely and saluted. "Commander, good to be seeing you again, sir," Brian said. ==================================== (Velorum IV-Base Camp-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-22:01) ====================================       As Kaitlyn was finishing gathering her supplies for the mission, she spotted Rogers a few feet away from her inocculating Commander West.  ~Must be for the mission,~ she mused to herself as she didn't go far from where she was standing.  She figured she'd be next, and she was correct.       Watching as Brian walked over to her, she instantly felt all her previous emotions for him and memories coming back to her, but shoved them aside.  She wondered if he still felt the same way, but she wasn't sure and wouldn't be sure until the end of the mission and they were once again on the Boudicca.  ~Though we've never been there...yet...~       "Dr. Mackenzie... this dosage will keep you safe from the hallucinogenic effects everybody's been experiencing," Brian said.       Putting her arm out, she watched as Brian injected the medication.  ~He actually called me by my title name, and not my first name.  Maybe it's because we're on unfamiliar terrain and around unfamiliar people.~  Grinning, she rubbed the tingling part of her arm where she had been injected.       "Thanks, and I'll see you when I get back."  Picking up her stuff, she knew they were about ready to go.   ==================================== (Velorum IV-Deep Forest-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-22:06) ====================================       As herself along with the many others of the extraction team were transported into a dark forest, she immediatly had her training kick in.  Yes she was a medical doctor, but she'd had her own share of experiences and training she didn't dare forget.       Along with everyone else in the team, she was behind Straton and the group of marines that took point in the block.  If any hard interception occured, she was sure the marines would be able to handle what came up the path.  Quietly, she kept walking, keeping her own phaser at hand and her mind sharp.     ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - On the Advance out of the encampment - 3O/StratOps - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 2203) ====================================   Rogers joined the group as medic. They had been slowly on the move, scanning and searching for over a half hour now.   "Mr. Rogers, make sure that you stay protected. We are going to need our medic, I'm almost certain of that. You go down, we could all go down," stated Paul grimly. He glanced around the area, it was starting to get frustrating. Paul knew they were out there, but had no idea where. The Scions knew the terrain, and they knew their own technology. For all Paul knew, they could be cloaked or worse. He shook his head.   "Are you reading any life signs besides ours and those of the other group?" asked Paul.   (Reply Rogers)   Could the Archon and her people have given them a 'bum steer'? What would they have to gain by that?   Ahead of them, Paul was vaguely aware of his point man uttering, "Oh crap." His eyes focussed on the man in the distance as an energy beam shot out from the ground and the man vapourized before their eyes.   "STOP!" called out Paul, "They're using energy mines! There must be tripwires! Scan the area. Try to find the locations." Paul swore to himself, they should have foreseen this, but then they were completely unaware of the bulk of their 'magic'. He had lost a man. Now Paul had to ensure that everyone else was apprised.   (Reply any)   He tapped his comm badge, "Casely to foreward groups. The Scions are employing energy mines rigged to trip wires. We've started a sweep of our area. Be careful. I'm sure the whole area is full of them." ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Outside of the Encampment - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 2203) ==================================== Brian followed Casely and the others outside of the camp and suddenly a strange feeling fell over him. ~I should of injected myself with that stuff...~ Brian thought. "Are you reading any life signs besides ours and those of the other group?" Casely asked. Brian took out a tricorder and scanned around NRPG: Sorry Jeff, I don't know what you want here. If my answer isn't okay, I can repost. RPG: Brian looked up from the tricorder. "I'm reading distant life signs ahead. However, my tricorder is... acting strange. It could have something to do with the planet," Brian reported. Shortly there after, the he group pressed on, and one of them was vaporized. Brian stopped, and glanced around his immediate area for mines and shook his head. Now he'd have another thing to worry about. He then held tight and waited for more orders from Casely. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV, Deep Forest, Lt. Colonel Eva Straton, 2205) ==================================== The White Robes had used their 'magic' to transport the extraction team as close to the Scion base where they believed the missing members of the Boudicca crew where being held. The forest was dark and foreboding a heavy rain fell through the trees drenching the extraction team and they moved toward the Scion stronghold on foot. "Their wards prevent our spells from getting any closer to their fortress," One of the White Robes explained. ~Scattering field most likely.~ Eva thought, as she directed her marines to spread out and form a perimeter around the group. As planed a White Robe Acolyte accompanied each marine. Eva checked the crono display on her HUD. ~The Scions have probably hit the base camp by now. We have to move quickly.~ Eva in the lead, with a White Robe guide, moved quickly toward the Scion base everyone else followed. ==================================== (planet velorum IV, Deep forest, ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren, 2207) ==================================== Matthew jogged along with the other members of the extraction team through the dank, wet forest, tricorder and phaser in hand. He knew that the people not wearing BDU's wouldn't be as effective because the phasers wouldn't be set to the correct modulations, but he hoped with unrelentless force that the shields would fail after sustained fire. The group approached the entrance to the Scion base and the commander gestured that Matthew and 2 other engineers should attempt to open the door. It looked extremely solid and immovable. Matthew jogged up to the door with the CE's flanking him. He ran a quick scan and eliminated any type of explosives that could have been used to blow the door open. He then looked fro some controls. There was nothing on the outside but he began interfacing with the network inside. It had incredible amounts of incription over the controls. ~God how the hell am I going to get past this~ After 5 minutes he had level 1 access but this still didn't grant him access to the doors controls. He skimmed through all the files all the while knowing that a group of marines and medical personnel were depending on him and were starting to get impatient, he could feel the pressure building behind him. He heard someone clear their throat noisily so he spun and glared in that general direction. He knew he couldn't work any faster. At 8 minutes he had level 2 access and skimmed through the entry and exit logs. He found a daily schedule of when the door would open and close automatically to let patrols in and out but it was still 14 hours off. He spoke to the other engineers quietly. "If we can fool the computer into thinking this is the scheduled time for the door to open, it'd open automatically. But to do that we're gunna need to change the system time and I need at least level 5 access. You 2 work on getting in and I'll see if I can set up another scheduled opening in the next couple of minutes." The 2 engineers turned to there work. At 9 minutes he thought of another idea and looked for evacuation protocols. Finding them he realized with relief that all doors and lifts would be accessible for anyone coming out. "Ok I have another idea," He said to the engineers who kept working even as he spoke. "We need to     trigger the evac systems. but I don't want anyone inside to know that we did. So give me a hand rewriting the system so it should only be limited to this section." A minute later they were done and he sent a high frequency EM pulse that would trigger the system. Red lights flashed above the door which Matthew quickly shutdown, and then to his relief the door slid back into the wall. The marines piled in followed by the engineers and medical personnel and then backed up by another fighter squad. They proceeded through the corridors of the base silently. Matthew was able to open doors easily from his tricorder with the level three access that he had. He was reading the small tricorder display to try and open another door when and energy bolt sizzled past him, searing the wall behind him. He dived to the ground, rolled and came up firing. His second majoring at the academy had been tactical and security training so he knew how to handle himself in a fight. He bumped up the power level to level 8 on his phaser and held a sustained burst on a black robed figure. The shield around him fizzled out and the phaser burned a hole in his chest. As the figure dropped to the ground he spun to see another attacker advancing on him. He fired a quick burst at him but not before an energy bolt shot out of the rod-like device that he was carrying grazing Matt's arm. The shear impact knocked Matthew across the corridor. His phaser flew from his hand and his original shot went wide. He rolled towards the fallen phaser expecting to be shot by the robed figure at any time. To his relief and gratitude he saw Kaitlyn giving him a signal that she would cover him. Matthew retrieved the phaser and put a knew power pack into the back of it and resett the controls. He sprung to his feet and saw the figure drop to the ground thanks to Kaitlyn. He smiled over to her, relief evident on his face and mouthed: "I  oh you a drink when this is over." Then seeing her response, dived back into the battle as it raged on around him. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV, Scion Base, Lt. Colonel, Eva Straton, 2238) ==================================== It had taken Lt. McLaren and the two combat engineers a full 10 minuets figure out how to open the hidden door that the White Robe had lead them too. When the door slid open, Eva and a pair of marines quickly entered phaser rifles ready. With the speed and precision only possible through long hours of training the marines leap-frogged their way down the dimly lit corridor. ::Do you sense Munroe anywhere nearby?:: Eva asked Domini silently, never taking her eyes off what she was doing. (Reply Domini) Eva using hand signals directed the lead marines down the corridor Domini had indicated. Checking her HUD, Eva could see that Chandler and Haverstaad had the security personnel covering their rear doing a similar reverse leap-frog as they moved. Several White Robes at the center of the group with the medical and engineering personnel where at the ready holding a odd looking rod in their hands. For several minuets the team progressed slowly forward following Domini's telepathic directions with out encountering any resistance. =\=Everyone stay alert,=\= Eva said through the secured comm-channel they were all using. =\=It's going too easy. It must mean the bulk of the Scions are other wise engaged=\= Eva didn't have to tell them just what that engagement was. They all knew. The base camp of the Boudicca crew. Suddenly several black robed Scions came into view coming around the corner. The lead marines wasted no time and opened fire. Then more Black Robes appeared behind and amongst the group appearing out of thin air. The sound of combat quickly filled the corridor as phaser's fired and Scion and White Robe alike started casting their 'spells'. ~So much for going too easy,~ Eva thought as she fired point blank at a Scion who tried to touch her with his rod like weapon. The phaser bolt slipped past whatever energy field was protecting the Scion and left a large charred hole in his chest. Eva smiled. ~Seems McLaren was right.~ Eva quickly un-slung her scatter gun and started laying down a barrage of fire at the nearest grouping of Scions she saw. She moved back toward the main group who seemed the hardest pressed. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV, Scion Base, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 2239) ====================================   It took the engineers nearly ten minutes to get the doors to the base open. The marines entered first and everyone else followed with Sam and her team in the back.   "Stay alert, we could encounter hostiles at any moment," Sam told the rest of her team.   Over the comm channel they were all using, came the voice of Straton, =\=Everyone stay alert. It's going too easy.  It must mean the bulk of the Scions are other wise engaged=\=   ~Man, I hope so,~ Sam thought to herself.   Suddenly, sounds of phaser fire filled the corridor. Black-robbed figures appeared everywhere among the group and behind them.   Sam and her team immediately began shooting at the Black-Robes. She smiled with satisfaction when their phaser fire went right through the energy fields the Black-Robes were projecting.   More Black-Robes appeared and they were shooting at her team now. Sam and her team did all they could. She suddenly felt a searing pain hit the top of her left shoulder. She turned towards the Black-Robe who had fired the shot and fired her rifle, striking him and knocking him to the ground.   With one of her team covering her, she took a look at the injury. It didn't look too bad, but it hurt like it was bad.   ~Guess this isn't going to be as easy as we thought,~ she thought returning to the fight and ignoring the pain in her shoulder.   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV, Scion Base, Lt. Colonel Eva Straton, 2340) ==================================== As the battle waged all around her Eva watched the Black Robe deployment on her HUD compared to that of the extraction team. She kept firing at Black Robes and kept moving. Providing cover fire for a pair of White Robes as they moved into better positions to strike with their rod like weapons. While all the while her mind was assimilating and analyzing the Scions tactics. Eva had studied military tactics and strategy her entire live. She was a graduate of Star Fleets Advanced War College. She had studied the military histories of a hundred worlds, and she was a seasoned combat veteran. Who had fought every enemy of the Federation from Borg to Xenolith and she recognized just what the Scions where attempting to do. "Chaviz, T'Hay, and Gunther! Plow ahead! Clear a path! We need to move now!" Eva yelled into her BDU mic, "Chandler, Haverstaad, have your men lay down suppressive cover fire behind us. We are moving! Mackenzie, Domini help the injured as best you can. This hall is not safe." (Reply Chandler, Haverstaad, Mackenzie, Domini, IYW) As the three marines she had mentioned opened fire with heavy weapons at the Scion lines in front of the extraction team, Eva pulled a plasma grenade from her bandoleer set it and tossed it at the line of Black Robes in one fluid motion. It exploded just before it hit the ground sending the bodies flying in every direction. "McLaren," Eva said, as everyone ran toward the hold in the Scion lines. "I need you to do what you can to scramble their internal sensors as best you can. Mendez, Sen'kal cover him." (Reply McLaren) The team continued to run down the hall, firing at the Scion pursuing and those that transported into the middle of the group or in front of them. ~That is really getting annoying.~ Eva thought as she ran a Scion over that appeared right in front of her. She pressed the trigger to her scatter gun and filled the Scion's chest with compressed rapid phaser fire. "And see what you can do about jamming that damn transporter of theirs," Eva added. (Reply McLaren) As the team rounded a corner a large explosion could be heard behind them. Suddenly the hall way in front was devoid of Scions. Eva continued to follow the telepathic directions Domini kept sending. They were getting close to Munroe. They went right down a long corridor then turned left. Soon they came to a door and Domini nodded. Eva threw the door open and her and several marines poured into the room phaser's at the ready. "Doctor Munroe," Eva said, lowering her phaser. Her eyes moved to the male Grazerite beside her. "And you must be Engtamn-Jensi. We are here to rescue you and the other kidnapped crew. Where are the others?" ==================================== (planet Velorum, scion base, Aceo LTJG McLaren, 2341) ==================================== Matthew dodged and dived phaser fire as it streamed all around him, all the time firing into the continuous onslaught of Scions. =^=Chaviz, T'Hay, and Gunther!  Plow ahead! Clear a path!  We need to move now!=^= Eva yelled into her BDU mic, =^=Chandler, Haverstaad, have your men lay down suppressive cover fire behind us.  We are moving!  Mackenzie, Domini help the injured as best you can.  This hall is not safe.=^= The marines charged forward through the ranks of black robed people. Matthew moved with them emptying his phaser into a blacked robed figure. He managed to get the shield down, but was out of energy before he could shoot the Scion. He flipped the phaser around so he was holding the barrel and began smashing the but of the rifle against the figures face. Two quick cracks to the face, followed by a fist to the gut, and an uppercut to the chin was all it took. The scion crashed heavily to the ground, not before jabbing his rod-like weapon into McLaren's ribs savvagely. The stab hurt more then the actual energy discharge which was minimal. Matthew choked in a breath and staggered a bit. =^=McLaren," came Eva's voice over the com channel, as everyone ran toward the hold in the Scion lines.  "I need you to do what you can to scramble their internal sensors as best you can.  Mendez, Sen'kal cover him." "Understood, I'll do what I can," He choked out. Matthew dropped to his knees, dropping the spent phaser on the floor beside him. He whipped out his tricorder and began scanning. Then he produced a dampening field projector and tuned it to the right frequency and flicked it on. "And see what you can do about jamming that damn transporter of theirs," Eva added. "I think I have the internal sensors offline, I have no way of telling, it should knock out their transporters too." He was having trouble concentrating, the pain in his arm and ribs was fierce. He didn't think the rod had gone in far but he thought he light have internal bleeding. The group moved on down the corridor after disposing of the scions and came upon a door which the marines burst through, weapons at the ready. However only the 2 captives were in there fiddling with a machine of some sort. Matthew struggled to focus, pushing the pain aside and replaced the power pack in his phaser. He scanned the machine in the room. Seemed to be controlling some sort of dampening field but he was too far away to get an accurate reading. ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV, Scions Base, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 2341) ====================================   Sam and the security team had managed to hold most of the Black-robes back. They knocking them down as soon as they appeared. She was impressed by the skills of security. She was glad that she would be working with people such as these.    She had managed to stauch the bleeding from the wound to her shoulder. It still hurt but she didn't believe that it was that bad. It appeared to her to only be a bad, deep graze. At least she hoped it was.   She heard Straton's voice coming on the comm, "Chandler, Haverstaad, have your men lay down suppressive cover fire behind us.  We are moving!  Mackenzie, Domini help the injured as best you can.  This hall is not safe." Sam couldn't agree more about moving. She turned to her team, "You heard Straton," she told them. "Lay down supression fire as we move."   With her entire team laying down cover fire as they followed the others down the hallway, they kept the Black-robes from following them without getting shot.   ==================================== (Velorum IV-Scion Base-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-22:41) ====================================       Waiting patiently, Kaitlyn wondered just how long it would take for McLaren to open this door that the others had pointed out.  It seemed to take a lifetime, but then again she was no engineer and appreciated his skills.       Finally able to open that door 10 minutes later, she was careful, and followed the others as they went inside the building.        =\=Everyone stay alert,=\= Eva said through the secured comm-channel they were all using.  =\=It's going too easy.  It must mean the bulk of the Scions are other wise engaged=\=       Most of the medical and engineering personel were in the middle of the group.  The outside part of the group were composed of the fighters and marines, ready to take on the first part of action.        As they kept going down the hallway, Kaitlyn immediatly ducked when she heard the sound of phasers going off.  She already had her own handy, and pointed and shot at the first Black Robe that came into view.  Most of the marines had taken a greater part of them out, but others seemed to be appearing out of nowhere and were taking a toll on their own extraction team.        Firing her phaser at yet another person, they went down, as well as one of their own.  Taking a quick look back, she seen that McLaren had a phaser blast just barely graze the outside of his arm, but it was enough to throw him to the ground.  Knowing she wouldn't be able to get to him right away, she stepped in front of him to take cover while he got back to his feet again.  Once on his feet, she gave a nod in the general direction of his arm, using her own body language to tell him she'd look at it after they were in a safer place.       ~These guys just don't give up!~   ==================================== (Velorum IV-Scion Base-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-23:42) ====================================       As the heavy fire exchange was becoming relentless, it was clear they needed to move out.  Though they were still in the midst of firing back and forth, Kaitlyn moved with them as Eva ordered her team to start clearing a path to follow.       "Chaviz, T'Hay, and Gunther!  Plow ahead! Clear a path!  We need to move now!  Chandler, Haverstaad, have your men lay down suppressive cover fire behind us.  We are moving!  Mackenzie, Domini help the injured as best you can.  This hall is not safe."       Nodding in her general direction, she still didn't take her eyes of the targets in front of her.  Still firing, she kept in the back of her mind that she still needed to check on McLaren's arm, however at the moment they were pressed.       Not lasting long, they all started their journey down the hallway as they watched for more Scions.  ~Go figure,~ Kaitlyn thought as a Scion appeared in front of Straton and she fired her compression rifle.  ~Damn people just don't stop...~  She was sure everyone else was getting just as annoyed as she was having to keep firing and fighting the Scions as new ones appeared everytime one went down.       Continuing down the hall, she followed the rest of the group until they reached a doorway.  She then watched as the marines knocked it down and swarmed into the room like bees.  When no action had occured, she herself looked in to see Engtamn-Jensi and Munroe.        "We are here to rescue you and the other kidnapped crew.  Where are the others?"       Hearing Straton's question, Kaitlyn figured she could move in quickly to scan the two of them while they were answering her before they continued their trek.  Coming up to Munroe, she scanned her to check her for any injuries.  She then moved onto Engtamn-Jensi, whom she already knew.       "Alright, both of you seem to be okay."  She then looked towards Straton.  "They should be okay to keep up with us."   <>       Kaitlyn then moved away from the room, back with the others that remained in the hallway keeping watch over McLaren and for other Scions.   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV -Generator Room- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 2343) ==================================== Maddie jumped as something came rushing through the door. She raised her staff, in a, hopefully, defensive posture. Her finger was about to hit the trigger when she recognized the bio suits of the Marines. The she recognized Eva Straton, and behind Straton, her legs nearly buckled at the sight of Domini. ~Oh thank God.~ Statton lowered her weapon. "Doctor Munroe, and you must be Engtamn-Jensi. We are here to rescue you and the other kidnapped crew. Where are the others?" Maddie was shocked. In all the time she'd been there, she hadn't heard any of the others. "Others?" she said confused, "there are others? Well, they'll probably be in the dungeons down this corridor." As some woman stepped forward, who apparently was a doctor, and began to scan them, she continued to talk. "I believe that Doctor Engtman-Jensi and I have managed to shut down their power grid to their sensors and transporters, and the scattering field inhibiting communications with the ship." (reply Straton) "Alright, both of you seem to be okay," the doctor told them. "They should be okay to keep up with us." ~OKAY! We seem to be okay! What the hell kind of doctor is this? She can't tell that we'd been tortured?~ Her eyes turned to Domini, as hse pleaded with her, subconsciously, to getthis doctor to understand. And then she wanted them to go back!? "Ummm... if you don't mind, I think that Doctor Engtamn-Jensi and I will wait here," she said, leaning against a wall defiantly. "We've had kind of a big day, and we'd really not rather make it any bigger. Besides, I hardly think that we're dressed for the occasion."   ==================================== (Velorum IV-Scion Base-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-23:45) ====================================       Having scanned Munroe and Engtamn-Jensi, Kaitlyn knew they weren't really all that..'fine.'  However they most important goal was to get them out of there before they were tortured anymore so than what they already were.  Knowing she was soft petaling the truth, Kaitlyn didn't exactly think it right nor the time and place to sit down and discuss everything that had been done to them or wrong with them.  Especially in front of a large group of people.  She hoped Munroe understood, but figured she'd have to explain herself and her actions to her later once they were away from this..~Death base.~       "Ummm... if you don't mind, I think that Doctor Engtamn-Jensi and I will wait here," she said, leaning against a wall defiantly.  "We've had kind of a big day, and we'd really not rather make it any bigger.  Besides, I hardly think that we're dressed for the occasion."       Nodding, Kaitlyn then opened up the medkit and knelt down beside the two.  Taking a hypospray out, she injected them each with the same substance.        "Here, this should keep you guys on your feet and help with any pain you might be having," she said.  She then took a few extra things out of her kit and handed them to Munroe.  "In case you need them," she simply stated, hoping Munroe would get her gesture.    <>        Knowing they didn't have much time on the base, especially if McLaren couldn't get the transporters shut down, she filed herself back into the group and prepared to take on more Scions as they went to look for the other prisoners.    ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV -Generator Room-  CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 2347) ====================================   Maddie rolled her eyes at the doctor, who had handed her something, she didn't even want to imagine.  She refused to even look at the item in front of all of these men.  But she looked adamant.  She had no intention of budging.  The stimulant that the doctor had given her was starting to kick in, and her mind began to work again.    "Look," Maddie addressed them, "Dr. Engtamn-Jensi and I seem to have turned off their scattering field device or whatever it was.  I would think that the Boudicca could  easily find and beam up anyone in this area that would be from the ship.  That would leave you all to wreak havoc as you will. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about those of us, who would just be a hinderance in a real fight, tht would be forced to tag along."   She looked over at her new friend.  "What do you say doctor, stay and fight, or go up to the Boudicca and recover from our experience?"   (reply EJ)   Maddie smiled and batted her eyelashes.  "Really, neither of us would be any use to you here.  I barely passed the phaser requirement in the academy, and I've probably picked one up three times in the years since."   (reply any)   "I'll take care of retreiving the prisoners once I'm back aboard, Lt. Colnel," Maddie assured him.  "You guys go kick some Scion butt for us."   She picked up the comm badge that someone handed her and tapped it.  "Munroe to Boudicca,"  she moved over and took hold of Engtamn-Jensi's arm, "two to beam up."   She felt that familiar tingle of the transporter effect and the view of the Scion dungeons disappeared, as if they had been a bad dream."   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Transporter Room 1- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe-2350) ====================================   As Maddie and Engtamn-Jensi's molecules realigned and reformed on the Boudicca she looked around the room.  A sigh of relief escaped her lips.  "Thank God."  Then she turned to her companion.  "Dr., would youcare to join me on the bridge?"   (reply EJ)   They left the transporter room with eyes following.  The sight of their CSO in a black robe with some form of walking cow by her side was not something they saw every day.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Bridge- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe-2350) ====================================   Maddie stepped onto the bridge to the surprise of the entire bridge crew.  The doctors medication had taken full effect.  She knew she'd be paying for it later, but for now there was work to be done.   "You should find that the barrier preventing our transporters from working are down," she said with authority.  "Give me just a moment to locate our people and I can transport them back to the ship."   (reply anyone on the bridge)   Maddie went to the science station and began to locate all of the non-Velorium life signs.  Once located she began to beam them up.   "Munroe to sickbay," she siad tapping her comm badge, "I'm beaming injured and possibly injured crewman directly to you.  Please have them all checkout before releasing them."   (reply sickbay)   It wasn't long before she was finished, and it was just as well.  She could feel the analgesic begin to wear off.  The she turned to command center.  "If you don't mind, I think I'll go change and head down there myself.  Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, please join me."   (reply EJ, anyone on the bridge)   With that, Maddie took hold of the Grazerites arm again, and made her way to the turbolift.   ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Battlefield - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 2350) ====================================   Paul kept monitoring the battlefield. Things seemed quiet, too quiet. His people continued scanning and seemed to have an all clear. Then, his comm badge chirped, breaking the calm.   =^=Boudicca to Away Team. We have a lock. Do you wish to be beamed out.=^=   Paul was taken aback. This is what they were waiting for. There was no telling whether or not they'd be able to retrieve them if they didn't take this opporunity.   =^=Casely to all groups. I highly recommend you prepare for beamout. There is no guarentee that a lock can be held. Lets get the heck out of here.=^=   With that, Paul signalled back to the Boudicca and awaited for the transporter beam to take hold. Minutes later, he felt his form shimmer.    ==================================== (Planet Velorum IV - Base Camp - TAC/SC Lt. Cmdr. Stolev - Day 3 - 2350) ==================================== Stolev peered at the display on the makeshift console for what seemed like the hundredth time. A few engineers had managed to rig up an enhanced sensor array to act like a souped-up tricorder, and they had been using it to monitor for enemy attacks for some time. He leaned back in his chair and looked across the clearing. Stolev had noticed the toll the combination of the constant guard duty and the gradually increasing effects of the hallucinogenic pollen had been taking on crew morale, so once they got the sensor array up and running, he had broken up the perimiter defense into shifts. A group of crew who weren't on the active defense team had made a small campfire in the center of camp, and Stolev looked over in that direction. Between the crash of the shuttle, the arrival of the Archons on their hovercraft, and the general hustle and bustle of the away team, it was hardly a secret to anyone that they were there, so he didn't see the harm in allowing a few outdoors types to toast some marshmallows and tell ghost stories. It had been so quiet in his immediate vicinity that Stolev nearly leaped out of the chair at the sound of his comm badge. =^= Boudicca to Away Team. We have a lock. Do you wish to be beamed out. =^= At that, Stolev did leap out of his chair in excitement. He hadn't heard from the extraction team yet, but assumed that if the Boudicca could get a lock on them, they'd likely be able to get a lock on the abducted crew as well. Just as he was about to respond, his badge chriped again. =^= Casely to all groups. I highly recommend you prepare for beamout. There is no guarentee that a lock can be held. Lets get the heck out of here. =^= Stolev tapped his badge. "Acknowledged, Commander. I agree wholeheartedly. See you on board." He looked up inquiringly as Sevant approached. Sevant nodded, and Stolev tapped his badge again. "Stolev to all base camp personnel. Prepare for beam out. Report to the sensor array as soon as you are ready." Tapping his badge a third time, he said, "Boudicca, this is Commander Stolev. Beam up our personnel from the following coordinates." He pulled out his PADD, tapped in the coordinates, and transmitted them. He looked up and saw that there was already a collection of crew gathering around the array. "Begin transport. Stolev out." (reply anyone else in base camp) He watched as group after group came up to the array and dematerialized. He and Sevant joined the last group and watched the flickering treeline fade from view as the transporter beam took effect.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Research Scientist - Doctor Engtamn-Jensi - 2352) ====================================   Things had gone quickly after boarding the Boudicca. Engtamn felt more than a little weak kneed. Things had happened so fast... and he'd been tortured rather severely. What's more... he had taken a life. He had killed. Maddie had just taken this as his regular level of remorse over killing... she obviously knew little of his species. He knew what would come from this. She would mention it in her report, it was natural to do so... he certainly would in his as well, he couldn't compound his sin by lying... the Grazerite government would read it. He'd be stripped of his titles and name on the planet. He would be disowned by his people. He had broken the oat of pacificsm. ~But, it wasn't just my life... it was hers as well that was at stake,~ Engtamn's mind feebly protested, but he knew that in order to keep true to the oath, the government would tell him that they would have been an acceptable sacrifice, both of them. Of course, none of these Grazerites had ever been off world, none had had to deal with a person who hadn't taken the oath. Was it fair to inflict the results of his oath on another person? The implications and events were dizzying. He knew that his life as a citizen of Grazer were over however, no matter what he said or did.   Maddie had been talking to the bridge crew all of this time. He'd taken little notice, despite the fact that she was standing right next to him. Then, he heard his name.   "If you don't mind, I think I'll go change and head down there myself.  Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, please join me."   Engtamn said nothing, but numbly nodded in acquiesence. She took hold of his arm and led him gently to the turbolift. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mission: Scions, Day 4 : In the Interim, Day 1 Stardate: 2407.01.18 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Transporter Room - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0008) ====================================   Paul slowly stepped off the transporter pad and looked around. He'd never been on this ship before, except in holoprograms. He would have to investigate the new ship, but for now he was too tired.  Paul looked around at his team and noticed Rogers with him.   "Lieutenant, we're going to have to go to the quartermaster and get quarters sorted out. I don't know about you, but I've about had it. I'm beat," stated Paul with a weak grin.   (Reply Rogers)   "Well, the Captain and FO are still in command. I technically haven't received duties yet, in fact none of us have. I think we'll have to look into having a meeting tomorrow of the former Geneva crew. I'll check out my new StratOps office and we'll go from there," said Paul, "What did you think of the majority of our new crewmates?"   (Reply Rogers)   Nodding, Paul started off towards the Quartermaster's office.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Transporter Room - COUNS - Lt. Brian offered to himself, ~If I never go on another away mission to a jungle-type planet it will be too soon.~ Brian felt like a nice holodeck program, perhaps a relaxation program. He then spotted Commander Casely heading in his direction. "Lieutenant, we're going to have to go to the quartermaster and get quarters sorted out. I don't know about you, but I've about had it. I'm beat," Casely said. "Aye, sir. Don't you have to take the night shift, since you are the third officer?" Brian asked. "Well, the Captain and FO are still in command. I technically haven't received duties yet, in fact none of us have. I think we'll have to look into having a meeting tomorrow of the former Geneva crew. I'll check out my new StratOps office and we'll go from there," Casely said. Brian nodded in agreement. "What did you think of the majority of our new crewmates?" Casely asked "Well, I didn't have a chance to meet them, but most of the ones seemed like hardworking officers. Of course some," Brian's mind raced back to Mor'rel, and getting sedated what seemed like four times, "are... nerve racking, but that is to be expected with any crew, I guess," Brian said. After that, they left and headed to the Quartermasters.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Transporter Room 1-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-00:09) ====================================       After making sure everyone had transported back to the Boudicca safely, Kaitlyn couldn't wait until she hit the bed.  She was dead on her feet since the crash to the planet surface, let alone the mission they had all just endured.  Stopping only momentarily to find out where her own quarters were located, she went straight to the nearest turbolift.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Transporter Room - TAC/SC Stolev - Day 4 - 0010) ==================================== Stolev stepped off the transporter pad and approached the operator. "Hey chief, we've got a lot of gear down there too, plus some shuttle wreckage. We'll need to get that stuff out, probably using the cargo transporters. Once all the crew is safely aboard, beam it to cargo bay 2 and we'll sort it out later." "Aye, sir," replied the transporter chief. Stolev then turned and looked for Straton, Casely, or anyone else who had been on the extraction team, to find out how the mission went.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Sickbay, ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren, 0010) ==================================== Matthew  woke on a medical bed surrounded by people busily tending to more wounded. He glanced around and recognized the federation design of the sickbay. ~Must be on the Boudicca~ The pain had gone and he felt wide awake again. A nurse came over to him. "Your free to go Lieutenant, you had only minor injuries." Matthew looked at her. "What exactly were they." He asked remembering the pain, ~Didn't feel very minor.~ "You had two fractured ribs and some slight internal bleeding, and a minor burn on your arm. Just take it easy for the next couple of days." She said as Matthew rose to his feet. "Thanks. I will." He said flashing her a smile and walking out of the room into the corridor.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Transporter Room, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 0010) ====================================   Once everyone materialized on the Boudicca, Sam checked to make sure the security team were alright. Then, knowing that her shoulder would have to be dealt with, she found out where Sickbay was, then headed for a nearby turbolift.      ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Personal Quarters-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-00:32) ====================================       She had only been in her quarters for about fifteen minutes.  Long enough for her to throw her stuff on her bed and lay there not budging to get up and get her shower.  Not feeling in the mood to do anything, this was the first time she had to just be able to relax for a moment and think.  Since these moments were rare, she wanted to take full advantage of it.  But she knew there was more work to be done.       Dragging herself from her bed, she went into the bathroom where she disrobed and got into the sonic shower.  Normally she hated the sonic shower, but at that moment she thought nothing felt so good in her life.  Her muscles were sore, especially from the crash, and to top it off she knew she had to be on duty tomorrow.  ~Good thing I'm a doctor,~ she thought.  She could always give herself an injection if she knew it worthy enough.       Finally done, she stepped out of the shower, and went out to her living room, up to the replicator.       "Coffee, one sugar one cream," she told the replicator.  As she watched the cup of coffee shimmer into existance, she heard a faint beeping coming from her computer.  ~Who could that be?~       Grabbing the cup, she took it with her to the computer and sat down at the desk.  Tapping a few buttons, she saw it was her former FO Casely.        "Computer, play message."       "Former Geneva crewmembers, welcome aboard USS Boudicca. Tomorrow I'll meet with you before you assume your duties at 0800 in the Strategical Operations area in the meeting room. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Casely out."       Shutting her computer off, she then said, "Computer, set wake up call for 07:30."  The beeping of the computer confirmed her command, and she knew she'd regret waking up that late.  But she also knew she wanted as much sleep as possible.  ~Guess breakfast will be a skip tomorrow.~   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters of Samantha Chandler, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 0045) ====================================   After getting her shoulder injury treated, which had taken some time since there were others that were being treated as well, Sam had found out where her new quarters were and went directly there.   She walked into her new quarters. Barely sparing the surroundings a glance, she stripped off her torn and dirty uniform jacket and walked over to the replicator and grabbed herself a cup of strong, black coffee.   Taking a few reviving sips of the coffee and setting the cup on the table, Sam walked over to her bed and sat down. She took off her boots and fell back against the bed. She felt as though she could lie there forever and not move.   Her computer began to beep. Sam groaned as she sat up and gave the computer the 'evil eye'.~Who in the world could that be?~   She got up and walked over to the desk and sat down. Activating the terminal, she found that it was from Cmdr Casely. "Computer, replay message."   "Former Geneva crewmembers, welcome aboard USS Boudicca. Tomorrow I'll meet with you before you assume your duties at 0800 in the Strategical Operations area in the meeting room. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Casely out."   Sam shut off the computer and stood up out of her chair. Without any further ado, she headed to the bathroom and the sonic shower.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0047) ====================================   Paul flopped down in a chair in his new quarters. They were anticeptic to say the least. He hoped that some of his personal effects could be salvaged from the shuttle craft. Some would have to be recreated. That would have bothered him several months ago, but after most of his personal effects were destroyed in the assassination attempt on him on Geneva it hardly seemed as important.   "Computer, record following message," stated Paul aloud, "Former Geneva crewmembers, welcome aboard USS Boudicca. Tomorrow I'll meet with you before you assume your duties at 0800 in the Strategical Operations area in the meeting room. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Casely out."   Paul sighed thinking about all the changes that were being wrought again. This was typical of his time in Starfleet. Events moved at the pace of a runaway freight train. He never seemed to have time to catch his bearings, he never seemed to have time to settle in.   "Computer, send message to Doctor Mackenzie, Lieutenant Rogers, Ensign Chandler, Lieutenant McLaren, Petty Officer Miller, Doctor Engtamn-Jensi and Chief Callaghan," stated Paul. The computer beeped in acknowledgement and then Paul turned the lights off and slept for the first time in almost two days.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 0051) ==================================== Brian entered his quarters slowly, and much to his surprise, it was a two-person room. ~Oh thats right... we aren't on a big nice Trudin class Starbase anymore.~ He thought has he slummed his bag on the ground and looked around, recalled that he was informed before they departed Geneva that he would be 'bunking up' with Lt. McLaren. Brian smiled slightly, McLaren and he hadn't gotten time to get to know each other, but he seemed like a good guy. Brian opened his bag and pulled out his spare uniforms and put them into his dresser. He then slummed down on the bed. He contemplated a pre-bed sonic shower, but decided against it. Finally, the computer alerted him. [Incoming pre-recorded message from Lt. Commander Paul Casely.] "Play back," Brian said, has he took off his comm badge and placed it in the de facto 'standard' position on the end table, about 1.5 meters from his head. =/\="Former Geneva crewmembers, welcome aboard USS Boudicca. Tomorrow I'll meet with you before you assume your duties at 0800 in the Strategical Operations area in the meeting room. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Casely out.=/\= Paul's voice said. Brian nodded and closed his eyes. Not realizing how tired he was, he quickly fell asleep.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Engineer - Petty Officer Jason Miller - 0100) ==================================== Jason opened his eyes and released he wasn't in the humid jungle air and longer. The air was cool and refined, and he new he was safe. He opened his eyes wider, and suddenly, he saw he was still laying in a medical bed, but in a sickbay, much smaller that Geneva's Medical Center, but still a Sickbay, rather than a collection of stretchers in the middle of a wooded wasteland. He looked around and saw the Vulcan doctor standing there. He struggled to speak, he felt weak and sickly, yet much better than on the planet. "Ex.. ex.. excuse me!" he said, trying to get the doctor's attention. (reply Mor'rel) "Are we on the..." Jason struggled to remember the name of the ship he was being transfered too, "Boudicca?" he finally asked. (reply Mor'rel) "Am I okay, can I walk now?" Miller asked the Vulcan.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - CMO - Doctor Mor'rel - 0104) ==================================== Mor'rel had beamed up with the rest of the group from the planet's surface and almost immediately been immersed in getting ready for surgery with the young Petty Officer from the Runabout. While he took care of that serious injury, other members of the landing party continued to stream in. They had lost people in the assault, Mor'rel knew that, but there had been some substantial injury as well. Mor'rel had opened up the triage section of the ship and watched as his nurses ran back and forth and assessed the cases. Nothing was as bad as Miller's injuries. Anything that was overly problematic could be temporarily put in stasis until this was dealt with.   The Petty Officer was somewhat lucid, despite his injuries. A good sign.   "Ex.. ex.. excuse me!" Miller said, trying to get his attention. Mor'rel raised an eyebrow, and kept prepping for surgery, "Yes Mr. Miller. How can I help you?" "Are we on the..." Jason struggled to remember the name of the ship he was being transfered too, "Boudicca?" he finally asked. "Yes, we transferred back to this ship just under an hour ago," replied Mor'rel still working. "Am I okay, can I walk now?" Miller asked the Vulcan. Mor'rel turned an looked at the man, "At this moment, that would be impossible. I am currently getting ready to begin surgery so I can correct that problem. It should take some time, but I believe you will be able to walk again. You will end up having to stay in sickbay for a few days. When you return to duty, you will find yourself easily tired and rather slow moving for some time. But I do believe you will make a full recovery."   (Reply Miller iyw)   "Incidentally, Lieutenant Commander Casely sent a message to you, indicating that you had a meeting in the morning. I am guessing that he is unaware of your current difficulties. I have sent him a message back apprising him of your situation and that you would be in no condition to attend his meeting," stated Mor'rel as he pushed a hypospray against Miller's neck, causing immediate unconsciousness.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Engineer - Petty Officer Jason Miller - 0104) ==================================== "At this moment, that would be impossible. I am currently getting ready to begin surgery so I can correct that problem. It should take some time, but I believe you will be able to walk again. You will end up having to stay in sickbay for a few days. When you return to duty, you will find yourself easily tired and rather slow moving for some time. But I do believe you will make a full recovery," the Vulcan doctor dicated in the same old monotone voice that all Vulcans seemed to have. ~I hate the damn voice.~ Miller thought to himself. Miller nodded in a solemn fashion. Suddenly, his senses became more acute, and he noticed that the sickbay was in sort of an organized choas. It seemed that there was some sort of battle, and that the medical staff here was helpping the victims. Has Miller had a slow glance around sickbay, Mor'rel's voice brought him back to the conversation. "Incidentally, Lieutenant Commander Casely sent a message to you, indicating that you had a meeting in the morning. I am guessing that he is unaware of your current difficulties. I have sent him a message back apprising him of your situation and that you would be in no condition to attend his meeting," Mor'rel informed Miller. "Hey! Wait a minute, perchaps some sort of wheel chair or something I could-" before Miller could finish, Mor'rel delivered a hypospray to his neck and sedated him... once again.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Samantha Chandler's Quarters, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 0700) ====================================   [TIME IS 0700]   Sam hadn't gotten a better night sleep in a long time. She figured it probably had something to do with the events on the planet that were exhausting and the pain meds that she had been given.     She got out of bed and walked to the replicator. Grabbing a cup of coffee, she began getting ready to go on duty. She remembered that Casely had called a meeting of the former Geneva crew. She didn't want to be late for that.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 0703) ==================================== Brian entered Sickbay and looked around. A few recovering battle patients. He glanced around, trying to see if he could help any immediate recovering patients, but saw that most were sedated. As Brian took a slow walk around the Sickbay, staying out of the way of any medical personal, just observing the work being done. However, he spotted Dr. Mor'rel before he finished his walk. Brian strode up to Dr. Mor'rel. "Hello, Doctor," Brian greeted the man who had sedated him, against his will, 3 or so times. (reply Mor'rel) "I came to see how my friend, Crewman Miller, is doing. On the planet he was in dire need a surgery to save his spinal column, if I recall." Brian stated. (reply Mor'rel, any)   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Personal Quarters-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-07:30) ====================================   [The time is 07:30.]       Rolling over, the computer continued to annoy her along with trying to wake her up.  Pulling the covers over her head, she graoned as she layed still.  Finally she shut the thing off.       "Computer, turn off alarm."  Beeping in response, she sat up in bed.  If she didn't she knew she'd never get up.  ~I have 20 minutes to do whatever it is I have to do,~ she thought before dragging herself out of bed and to the bathroom.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 0734) ====================================   "No!!," Dr. Madison Munroe screamed, sitting upright in her bed.  Instantly she regretted the action as pain racked her sweat covered body.  She had chosen to by pass sick bay after returning to Boudicca.  They had enough to do, and she really just didn't feel like being poked and prodded by doctors, familiar and not so familiar, so she just went to bed, and fell quickly to sleep.   Unfortunately, it was not a fitfull sleep.  Memories of her treatment at the hands. or toys, of the Scions haunted her dreams.  At one point, any form of physical contact had become unbareable, and all she could do was cry.  She couldn't speak, couldn't answer their questions in any intelligible speach, couldn't  even remeber if they were still asking her questions.  Only one thought was crossing her mind.  Stop!  She just wanted it to stop.  If the pain wouldn't stop, then she needed to stop living.   That was when she woke up.  Her covers were soaked with her sweat, and her face was streaming with tears.  Memories of pain ached in her muscles, aswell as pain that was actually real.  Not to mention the sense of humiliation.  She certainly didn't act like a scientist for a good portion of her time on the planet.  Her initial excitement of discovering a new race and finding out about them was given over to the fear of survival.  Not a high point in her scientific career.   Maddie managed her way to the bathroom, stripped of her wet night clothes and climbed into the sonic shower.  She leaned against the wall as the ultra-high sonic waves scrubbed down her flesh.  Closing her eyes she thought, ~What I really need is a bubble bath.~    The shower made her feel better.  Some of the aches and pains were soothed away, but there was still the underlaying stress her body had undergone, not mention the unresolved mental anguish.  Maybe she needed to talk to a counselor.  But she wasn't ready to face Domini, yet.  Her humiliation at the sheer loss of power to herself was more than she could bare to tell Domini about.   Perhaps a trip to sickbay was in order.  She had no real excuse to not go, but she didn't know about that new girl, what was her name, Mackenzie?  And there was something about explaining an emotional condition to a Vulcan like Mor'rel.  It seemed that the only person she could think of talking to was her fellow scientist.  The last person she had seen as she dropped him off at sick bay last night.   Once dressed she decided to seek out Dr. Engtamn-Jensi.  Finding the location of his personal quarters she decided to pay him a little visit.  She stopped outside his quarters.  She straightened her shirt and hit the door chime.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- Research Scientist - Dr. Engtamn-Jensi - 0737) ====================================   Engtamn had reached his new quarters late the night before. Upon receiving the quarters assignment, it turned out Lieutenant Commander Casely had arranged for all their quarters as soon as he arrived onboard, he had found out about a meeting first thing in the morning. Now, Engtamn put on a new uniform. Gone was the blue of his Acting CSO role, on came the purple of his civilian role of research scientist. He felt much more comfortable this way.   Engtamn was tired. He had hardly slept at all. He just kept turning the events of the day before, the pain, the humiliation, the guilt, over in his mind. Then his door chimed. Was he late? No... Then who would be visiting him at such an hour.  Engtamn opened the door... and saw Madison on the other side.   "Come in," he said softly to the woman. He could instantly tell that she had slept about as well as he had.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 0740) ====================================   Maddie smiled at the Grazerite.  He was looking a bit lack luster aswell.  As she stepped in she looked around the empty quarters.  She often forgot how these places looked before anyone moved in.  Of course he hadn't had the chance to do any furnishing of his quarters, he just got them last night.   She tried to look a little more hopeful of him feeling better than she did.  "I just came to check on you.  How are you feeling this morning?"    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- Research Scientist - Dr. Engtamn-Jensi - 0742) ====================================   Engtamn forced a smile and brushed lint absently from the front of his uniform. This was both welcome and awkward at the same time. He knew she hadn't just come for no reason, that the same things bothering him were bothering her as well.   "I'm as well as can be expected. Sleep didn't come easy last night... sleep didn't come at all in fact," Engtamn replied bowing his head sadly.   (Reply Munroe)   "I'm sorry, I am expected somewhere. Just a moment please," said Engtamn tapping his comm badge, "Ummm... Doctor Engtamn-Jensi to Commander Casely... ummm... sir... is it alright if I'm a bit late? My...ummm... cheif of division has asked to speak to me... I'm sorry."   =^=No reason to be sorry Doctor. I understand. Make it here when you can. Bring her along if you like. Casely out.=^=   "Now... I'm sorry, you were saying?" said Engtamn softly.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 0745) ====================================   Maddie reached out and rubbed the shoulder of the Grazerite.  "I know that feeling.  I didn't have much in the way of sleep either."   Engtamn-Jensi excused himself for a moment to inform Lt. Casely that he was going to be late for their meeting.  Maddie began to feel even more stupid than before.  She should have realized that the new crew to the Boudicca would have had some kind of orientation this morning.  Of course, she thought that it could have waited until later in the day.  But then again,  perhaps that was why she wasn't in line for a command position.   "Now... I'm sorry, you were saying?" said Engtamn softly.   Maddie shook her head.  "I am so sorry Doctor," she apologized, "I didnn't realize... I mean I don't want to keep you from your meeting.  It really isn't that important."  Maddie turned to leave.   (reply EJ)   The voice of the scientist stopped her.  With a sigh, she turned around slowly.  "It's just... I don't know who to turn to... who to talk to.  Nobody else understands what we went through.  I just..."   Maddie burst into tears , the feelings of rage, despair, humiliation and frustration all came out of her at once.  She didn't want to cry.  She didn't want to feel the way she was feeling.  But there was nothing she could do to stop the deluge of emotions rushing from her at this moment.  All she could do was cover her face and let the tears fall.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Strategic Operations, Conference Room - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0750) ====================================   Paul paced around the office, waiting for the former senior staff of Starbase Geneva to arrive. This had already been a hard transition for them to make. They had been through a lot over the last few days on that accursed planet below. Paul knew that the hardship wasn't over. Every one of them had lost someone dear to them, either in the initial crash or the battle that followed.   He surveyed the room. His new digs were... nice.  He had a lot of room and a lot of fairly advanced level systems. Paul was suddenly glad that he had taken time in the Geneva holodeck to get used to the StratOps station. Now, he had another concern... working with a new captain, one he hardly knew.   Sighing, Paul walked over to the replicator and ordered a cup of coffee. Hopefully, the others would see this for what it was, a breakfast meeting and use the replicator when they came in. It was likely to be a long day. Paul also knew it was only a matter of hours before they warped away... they had to keep moving during a state of war, despite not having a concrete mission for a few days.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- Research Scientist - Dr. Engtamn-Jensi - 0750) ====================================   "No... no... you don't have to go," Engtamn said softly, "Its okay, Casely will be fine with this. He already said it was okay. He's probably already heard... Stay."   Maddie stopped and turned around slowly.  "It's just... I don't know who to turn to... who to talk to.  Nobody else understands what we went through.  I just..."   Maddie burst into tears, and then covered her face quickly.   Engtamn moved to her quickly, feeling his own eyes well up with tears. He did understand all too well, the humiliation and degredation they were forced to endure. He knew he would never be the same again either. "I know... I understand," said Engtamn choking on his own tears. At the moment he didn't know what to say. "I can't sleep because I'm already having nightmares about it. I hope they'll stop. Will they stop?"    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 0751) ====================================   Maddie wrapped herself around the Grazerite and held on to him tightly.  She could feel his restraint to hold back his own tears, which only made her shame at her outburst stronger.  But really she didn't care.    "I can't sleep because I'm already having nightmares about it," Engtamn admitted.  "I hope they'll stop. Will they stop?"   Suddenly Maddie couldn't help herself.  She just started to laugh.  "God I hope so.  It was bad enough to live through that once, but every night.  No thank you.  I just... well don't know if I'll ever feel safe again.  What do I do, have an armed security guard watch over me as I sleep?  I know I'm just being silly, but.  Maybe there's a nice burly security girl for me to curl up with."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Strategic Operations, Conference Room - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 0751) ==================================== After his stop over at Sickbay, Brian stopped in the Officer's Mess Hall for a quick breakfast of replicated scrambled Earth eggs, an old Earth meal, before heading to the meeting of all the ex-Geneva crewmembers. Brian, although he wasn't a tactical officer, could still admire the advanced StratOps Center. Brian entered and spotted Commander Casely, standing alone. Brian walked up his old FO. "G' Morning, Commander," Brian said to Casely. (reply Casely) "This is quite impressive, sir. I am thinking I may have chosen the wrong division when I signed up," Brian offered as he gazed around the room. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - StratOps Centre - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0753) ==================================== Paul nodded as each of the remaining members of the former Geneva Crew entered. He said his hellos and pleasantries. Things had already changed for them greatly and would continue to do so, but as always, there was a sense of family.   "This is quite impressive, sir. I am thinking I may have chosen the wrong division when I signed up," Brian offered as he gazed around the room. "Yes, not quite so impressive as Captain Lee's StratOps Centre on the Nightwatch, but impressive nonetheless. But then, I suppose I'll be planning for over 20 starships from here, you don't want to scrimp," responded Paul with a smile. He felt weak, the task that he had to start with wouldn't be pleasant and he wasn't looking forward to it.  Then his comm badge went off.   =^=Ummm... Doctor Engtamn-Jensi to Commander Casely... ummm... sir... is it alright if I'm a bit late? My...ummm... cheif of division has asked to speak to me... I'm sorry.=^=   Paul was well aware of the horrors that the two scientists had faced on the planet. He knew that Engtamn's psychological and physical recovery would not be immediate, and he hadn't even read the man's report yet, "No reason to be sorry Doctor. I understand. Make it here when you can. Bring her along if you like. Casely out."  Paul shook his head slowly and refocussed on Brian.   "Listen... Brian... keep an eye on Entamn and on Doctor Munroe. They went through a lot down there. Don't come on too strong but... still..." said Paul quietly, almost sadly.   (Reply Rogers)   Paul watched as Kaitlyn walked into the room. She looked slightly, but not very, concerned.    "Sorry, had to have my coffee first," she said.   Paul almost had to stifle a laugh, "You? Late for coffee? Never!" Paul felt himself smile more broadly than he had in what felt like years.   Taking a seat, she said, "So...this is what this place looks like...."  Gazing around the room.   Turning to Rogers, she asked, "What do you think about this place so far?"   (Reply Rogers)   Finally, Samantha joined them. Paul watched as she entered the room. For now, this would be all.   "Good morning, everyone," Sam said, as she took a seat next to Mackenzie. Matthew McLaren joined them directly after Samantha had.   "Good morning. Help yourself to food or coffee from the replicators and then we'll get started. Mr. Miller is still not well enough to join us yet, but I'm told he'll be on the mend soon. Doctor Engtamn-Jensi will join us shortly, he is currently in a meeting with the Chief Science Officer," said Paul.  He then stopped for a second and looked up to the ceiling and then down to his hands. This wasn't going to be easy. People had been lost before under his command, but not people that he knew well, not people he'd been close to.   "I'm afraid I have to start with some bad news. Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke and Lieutenant Yalrath were killed in the crash. Mr. McLaren, if you could please let his family know of their loss... of our loss... I would appreciate it, I believe he was married with two children," said Paul, feeling his words catch in his throat, "I'll contact Lieutenant Yalrath's family. Lieutenant Dorrin Klars and Lieutenant Kassia Marta died in the assault on the Scions. I'll contact Klars' family as best I can, if you could take look after the letter to Kassia's family Mr. Rogers, I'd appreciate it. It looks like the services to commemorate fallen crew will be held tomorrow at 0800."   (Reply any at meeting)   Paul stood for a second, trying to compose himself before continuing, "I spoke briefly with Captain Sevant. He's anxious for us to begin our duties here, but he's also well aware that for some of us it has been quite some time since we've served on a Starship... for others, well, you never have. He believed, and I must concur, that it would be good for us to get some training in first... myself included. I know you're all anxious to put your things in order and set up your offices, and such. You will get a chance to do so, but training will begin on Holodeck One at 1300hrs. Any questions so far?"   (Reply any at meeting)   Paul nodded, "The basic simulation is giving us a mission to run on the Boudicca. We'll get a chance to try out the stations of this vessel and practice our knowledge of it. As for the content of the mission, I have no idea. I will warn you though that all Boudicca crew and officers have been invited to take part. Be careful what you say and do as you'll never know when you're talking to a hologram or the real head of security. I know that some of the department heads and such have important duties to perform, that have went slightly by the wayside during our absence, however you'll just never know. The simulation will be running as if its my bridge shift, but that doesn't mean the CO or FO can't come in and take over. Questions?"   (Reply any at the meeting)   "Unless relieved by senior members of the crew, I'll have the centre seat, Rogers will be in the counsellor's chair to my left, Doctor, you'll be of course manning sickbay but I wouldn't mind your counsel on the bridge from time to time as well, Mr. McLaren will be managing Engineering and Ensign Chandler will be taking tactical. Please make sure you brush up on some of the specs of your departments on this vessel before arriving. You should probably make sure you have a meal in you to. Remember that even though this is just a training simulation, we still should be treating it as if its real."   (Reply any at meeting iyw)   "Well, until 1300 you're dismissed then. I'll meet you in Holodeck One. Please don't be late, I promise you there will be coffee available there too," said Paul with a wink in the direction of Doctor Mackenzie, "I'll make sure a copy of the orders get sent to Doctor Engtamn-Jensi. I've also forwarded them to a new member of the Boudicca Crew, Ensign Reyal in Science. The rest of the Boudicca crew is aware of our training simulation and of their standing invitation to join us."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- Research Scientist - Dr. Engtamn-Jensi - 0753) ====================================   Engtamn was slightly taken aback. He hadn't expected this woman to enjoy the comfort of her own sex. It didn't really bother him per say, he wasn't expecting anything from her after all, it was just unexpected. He hoped the surprise didn't register on his face.   "I... um... don't sleep well with other people in the room... unless they're other Grazerites. There is something hardwired into my species, probably because we're descended from herd animals, that we... well... other species frighten us. Our first response is to run," replied Engtamn, "I guess you could say we're all cowards."  It was true. The hardest thing for him all through his career with Starfleet was to try and get used to not wanting to bolt at official functions and in crowded rooms.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Personal Quarters- CSO- Dr. Madison Munroe- 0754) ====================================   Maddie was most surprised by Engtamn's ideation of his own courage.  She couldn't disagree more.    "I'm sorry Doctor," she said quickly, "but what I've seen of you, I would be hard pressed to call you a coward.  You stood up for what you needed to, when you needed.  Sometimes, I think we stand against things before we have to, without taking full opportunities to resolve conflicts more peacably."   Then she giggled a little.  She saw the surprise on his face.  "Your species," she went on apologetically, "it's just funny how they remind me of another species, with a equal commitment to pacifism.  Perhaps you know of the Caitians.  They, too, look at peaceful resolution as the ultimate acomplishment, and look upon violence as something to abhor.  However they come from a predatorial background, and your species might find them a bit uncomfortable to be around."   She sighed and shook her head, "I'm sorry Doctor Engtamn-Jensi," Maddie said, "I guess I'm back in Cultural Anthropologist role.  Forgive me."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - StratOps Center - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 0756) ==================================== Brian talked a bit with Casely, when Casely was interrupted by Dr. Engtamn-Jensi. =^=Ummm... Doctor Engtamn-Jensi to Commander Casely... ummm... sir... is it alright if I'm a bit late? My...ummm... chief of division has asked to speak to me... I'm sorry.=^= "No reason to be sorry Doctor. I understand. Make it here when you can. Bring her along if you like. Casely out," he replied. "Listen... Brian... keep an eye on Entamn and on Doctor Munroe. They went through a lot down there. Don't come on too strong but... still..." Casely asked him, quietly. Brian nodded. "Yes, sir. I'll watch them," Brian said. He wasn't sure exactly what was wrong with them, but he assumed it had something to do with the experience on the planet. He would have to ask Commander Casely about it more in dept later. Brian was distracted has Kaitlyn walked in. Casely and her had a small conversation before she settled into a chair. "What do you think about this place so far?" Brian smiled, "Its pretty neat, I hope the counselor's office is is this big," Brian joked. Soon there after, the rest of the ex-Geneva gang arrived, and everybody took their seat and Casely started the meeting. "Good morning. Help yourself to food or coffee from the replicators and then we'll get started. Mr. Miller is still not well enough to join us yet, but I'm told he'll be on the mend soon. Doctor Engtamn-Jensi will join us shortly, he is currently in a meeting with the Chief Science Officer," Casely said. Then he started acting very odd. ~He must have some sort of bad news, ~ Brian thought. "I'm afraid I have to start with some bad news. Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke and Lieutenant Yalrath were killed in the crash. Mr. McLaren, if you could please let his family know of their loss... of our loss... I would appreciate it, I believe he was married with two children. I'll contact Lieutenant Yalrath's family. Lieutenant Dorrin Klars and Lieutenant Kassia Marta died in the assault on the Scions. I'll contact Klars' family as best I can, if you could take look after the letter to Kassia's family Mr. Rogers, I'd appreciate it. It looks like the services to commemorate fallen crew will be held tomorrow at 0800," Paul said. Brian nodded. It was a tough thing to see good officers fall in the line of duty. Everybody regained their composure and Casely started again, "I spoke briefly with Captain Sevant. Any questions so far?" (reply any) Casely continued, "The basic simulation is giving us a mission to run on the Boudicca. Questions?" (reply any) "Unless relieved by senior members of the crew, I'll have the center seat, Rogers will be in the counselor's chair to my left, Doctor, you'll be of course manning sickbay but I wouldn't mind your counsel on the bridge from time to time as well, Mr. McLaren will be managing Engineering and Ensign Chandler will be taking tactical. Please make sure you brush up on some of the specs of your departments on this vessel before arriving. You should probably make sure you have a meal in you to. Remember that even though this is just a training simulation, we still should be treating it as if its real." (Reply any) "Well, until 1300 you're dismissed then. The rest of the Boudicca crew is aware of our training simulation and of their standing invitation to join us." (Reply any) Following the meeting, Brian stood up and walked out without saying a word. He was quite shaken about the loss of the crewmates   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-StratOps/Conference Room-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-07:57) ====================================       Knowing how much Paul hated it when anyone was late, Kaitlyn sped her way through the Boudicca, trying to navigate at the same time.  ~Maybe I should have been a CONN officer,~ she thought.  It didn't take her too long, as she had tried to familiarize herself with some of the specs before they left Geneva.       As she came walking into the doors, she spotted Casely and Rogers.  Walking past Rogers, she went straight to the replicator and ordered her coffee for the morning.       "Sorry, had to have my coffee first," she said, knowing they would understand.   <>       Taking a seat, she said, "So...this is what this place looks like...."  Gazing around the room, it had been awhile since she'd set foot on a starship other than Geneva's support craft.  She knew they would be going on exciting adventures that most only dreamed about, as the Boudicca was the battleship to be if that's where you wanted to go.        Turning to Rogers, she asked, "What do you think about this place so far?"    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-StratOps/Conference Room-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-07:58) ====================================       Getting her cup of coffee and taking a seat, she let out a small chuckle at Paul's comment of, "You? Late for coffee? Never!"       Awaiting Brian's reply to her question, she turned to the door as Chandler walked in and took a seat beside her.       "Good morning, everyone," Sam said.       "Hey Sam," Kaitlyn said, once again remembering how close the group used to be on Geneva.  She could see it in everyone's eyes that they missed being a close knit group.  But she expected that even though they were on a different ship in a different setting, they would still be that close knit group. "I'm afraid I have to start with some bad news. Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke and Lieutenant Yalrath were killed in the crash. Mr. McLaren, if you could please let his family know of their loss... of our loss... I would appreciate it, I believe he was married with two children," said Paul.       Frowning, Kaitlyn hated to hear the loss of any crewmember, let alone one with a family.  She had a particularly close tie in with her own family, but she had never been married nor had any children.  As she listened to Casely speak about the loss of the crewmembers, Kaitlyn temporarily thought to herself about what it was like to have a family.       "I'll contact Lieutenant Yalrath's family. Lieutenant Dorrin Klars and Lieutenant Kassia Marta died in the assault on the Scions. I'll contact Klars' family as best I can, if you could take look after the letter to Kassia's family Mr. Rogers, I'd appreciate it. It looks like the services to commemorate fallen crew will be held tomorrow at 0800."       Nodding her head, the rest of the crew looked the same as her.  All shaking their heads in understanding and wishing the best for the families that lost their loved one(s).       "I spoke briefly with Captain Sevant. He's anxious for us to begin our duties here, but he's also well aware that for some of us it has been quite some time since we've served on a Starship... for others, well, you never have. You will get a chance to do so, but training will begin on Holodeck One at 1300hrs. Any questions so far?"       Raising her eyebrows, she guessed that it was a good thing for those who had never served on a starship before, but she herself didn't feel the need to go through the exercises all over again.  Though she had to, she had little choice and would comply, she just hated knowing she had to do it to prove herself again.  ~That's what the Academy is for,~ she thought.       "The basic simulation is giving us a mission to run on the Boudicca. We'll get a chance to try out the stations of this vessel and practice our knowledge of it. As for the content of the mission, I have no idea. I will warn you though that all Boudicca crew and officers have been invited to take part. The simulation will be running as if its my bridge shift, but that doesn't mean the CO or FO can't come in and take over. Questions?"       Shaking her head, she had none.  Looking around, she awaited to hear if anyone else had any questions.  After a few moments, the room went silent once more and Casely finished up his meeting.       "Unless relieved by senior members of the crew, I'll have the centre seat, Rogers will be in the counsellor's chair to my left, Doctor, you'll be of course manning sickbay but I wouldn't mind your counsel on the bridge from time to time as well, Mr. McLaren will be managing Engineering and Ensign Chandler will be taking tactical. Please make sure you brush up on some of the specs of your departments on this vessel before arriving. You should probably make sure you have a meal in you to. Remember that even though this is just a training simulation, we still should be treating it as if its real."       Hitting a few buttons on the PADD she carried, she put down the training times in the holodeck as well as anything else she had to remember.       "Well, until 1300 you're dismissed then. I'll meet you in Holodeck One. Please don't be late, I promise you there will be coffee available there too," Paul said, and winked in Kaitlyn's direction.       Grinning a bit, she stifled a chuckle as he finished up.       "I'll make sure a copy of the orders get sent to Doctor Engtamn-Jensi. I've also forwarded them to a new member of the Boudicca Crew, Ensign Reyal in Science. The rest of the Boudicca crew is aware of our training simulation and of their standing invitation to join us."       Getting up from the table, she took her coffee with her.  ~This had better get me through the rest of this day.~    ==================================== (USS Boudicca, StratOps Center - Conference Room, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 0759) ====================================   After getting directions from the computer, Sam had headed to the StratOps Center. She walked in and looked around. She saw that Mackenzie and Rogers were already there, along with Casely.   "Good morning, everyone," Sam said, as she took a seat next to Mackenzie. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, StratOps Centre, ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren, 0800) ==================================== Matthew exchanged greetings with the Geneva crew. It was good too see them again. He grabbed a cold water from the replicator and sat down at the table just in time for the meeting to begin. He then stopped for a second. Matthew felt something bad coming. "I'm afraid I have to start with some bad news. Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke and Lieutenant Yalrath were killed in the crash. Mr. McLaren, if you could please let his family know of their loss... of our loss... I would appreciate it, I believe he was married with two children," said Paul, feeling his words catch in his throat, Matthew bowed his head sadly.  Rhorke hadn't wanted to transfer to the Boudicca and to think he never made it at all. Paul nodded, "The basic simulation is giving us a mission to run on the Boudicca. We'll get a chance to try out the stations of this vessel and practice our knowledge of it. "Good morning. Help yourself to food or coffee from the replicators and then we'll get started. Mr. Miller is still not well enough to join us yet, but I'm told he'll be on the mend soon. Doctor Engtamn-Jensi will join us shortly, he is currently in a meeting with the Chief Science Officer." He paused.   Sam could see from the look on his face that he was about to give them some bad news and he was having a hard time telling them.   "I'm afraid I have to start with some bad news. Chief Petty Officer Alan Rourke and Lieutenant Yalrath were killed in the crash. Mr. McLaren, if you could please let his family know of their loss... of our loss... I would appreciate it, I believe he was married with two children," Casely continued with difficulty, "I'll contact Lieutenant Yalrath's family. I'll contact Klars' family as best I can, if you could take look after the letter to Kassia's family Mr. Rogers, I'd appreciate it. It looks like the services to commemorate fallen crew will be held tomorrow at 0800."   Sam hadn't been part of this group very long. She hadn't had a chance to get to know Yalrath, Rourke, and Marta. Klars, on the other hand, she had worked with in Security while on Starbase Geneva. It saddened her to learn of all their deaths.   "I spoke briefly with Captain Sevant. He's anxious for us to begin our duties here, but he's also well aware that for some of us it has been quite some time since we've served on a Starship... for others, well, you never have. The simulation will be running as if its my bridge shift, but that doesn't mean the CO or FO can't come in and take over. Questions?"Casely continued.   Sam took all the information in stride, making mental notes as she listened. Since once again she had no question, she remained silent. Remember that even though this is just a training simulation, we still should be treating it as if its real." Casely explained.   Sam was glad that they would have a chance to familiarizing themselves with the opperations of a ship. She remembered back to the time she had spent on the Raven where she had served as a tactical officer. But the Boudicca was a lot different than the Raven.   "Well, until 1300 you're dismissed then. I'll meet you in Holodeck One. Please don't be late, I promise you there will be coffee available there too. I'll make sure a copy of the orders get sent to Doctor Engtamn-Jensi. I've also forwarded them to a new member of the Boudicca Crew, Ensign Reyal in Science. The rest of the Boudicca crew is aware of our training simulation and of their standing invitation to join us."   Sam stood up and filed out with the rest of the officers there.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Corridor - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 0812) ==================================== Brian walked out of the StratOps center and started towards the turbolift. "Computer, which deck is the Counselor's Office located on?" he asked. [Keltoi class vessels are not standardly equipped with a office for the Counselor] it replied. Brian stopped and rolled his eyes. ~Oh how I miss the pleasures of a Starbase, I'll have to do it the old fashioned way, have my appointments in my quarters. Hope Lt. Maren's doesn't mind,~ Brian thought has he continued down the corridor. A few more steps and he tapped his comm badge with a sly smile on his face, "Rogers to Dr. Engtamn-Jensi, I was wondering when you are free, doctor. I've always had an interest in..." Brian tried to remember some thing science related, " wormholes. I think you and I should get together and have a cup of coffee over a nice discussion over wormholes," Brian said, trying to get the Grazerite into a situation where Brian could ask about the things he saw on the planet, however Dr. Engtamn-Jensi seemed to have some sort of aversion of counselors, has he dodged Brian twice on Geneva.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - FO's Office- StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0855) ==================================== Paul pressed the doorchime and waited. The meeting had gone fairly well, better than he had expected, but then he knew that his former crew were good people. They were good at their jobs and professional. They'd learn what they needed to on this ship and be excellent on board her. The door slid open and Paul walked inside.   Coming to attention in front of the USS Boudicca's FO he stated, "Sir, the new crew joining the USS Boudicca are ready to begin their training mission at 1300 hrs. We look forward to your input and aid as we learn the ship's systems and protocols, Sir." He didn't know this man, and didn't know what he expected. He had been too formal with Captain Sash when he first met him, and then not formal enough for Captain Lee. Too formal was forgiveable, too lax generally was not.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - FO's Office- Commander Trevan West - 0856) ==================================== With the mission over, Trevan had been very thankful to be back aboard the ship. Although he never underestimated his engineers' ability, even Trevan, a former CEO was starting to become doubtful. Trevan placed his PADD down on the desk and filed his report to Captain Sevant. He grabbed some tea from the replicator and began going over the service records of the crew that just joined them.     The door chime rang and one of his new favourite people walked into his office.     "Lt. Cmrd. Casely, please come in."       Coming to attention in front of the USS Boudicca's FO he stated, "Sir, the new crew joining the USS Boudicca are ready to begin their training mission at 1300 hrs. We look forward to your input and aid as we learn the ship's systems and protocols, Sir."     The man looked like he was going to jump out of his own skin if he said 'boo' to him.     "At ease please and have a seat. I was just going over some of your crew's service records to get an idea of what type of people they are. I know they are some of the best combat officers I have ever been with, but as you know, that only makes up a small part of being in Starfleet.   (reply Casely)       "Well, there is a training mission on the holodeck at 1300 hours where the new and old crew will be going through some basic command and combat simulations. You know, to help all of us meld as a crew. I would like to see you there." replied Trevan     "Also, I trust your staff is up to your specifications? If you have any crew problems please bring them to me and I will see what I can do. Is there anything else Paul?   (reply Casely)   "Very well then, I will see you at 1300. Dismissed."   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - FO's Office- StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 0901) ==================================== Paul sat down and listened as the Commander treated him like a first year cadet. He fought a small part of the annoyance back as he was reminded about what it takes to be part of Starfleet. Paul avoided telling him about their time on Geneva, running the station and how combat was only the smallest part of what they'd had to do. He also fought down the urge to remind West that he was the one who acted as diplomatic liason with their allies on the planet previously. It wasn't worth it, the man was doing his job...   Paul also fought the urge to shake his head in surprise when the Command simply reiterated the commands that he had already told him had already been carried out when he first entered the room, in fact an hour before this point. ~Is this for real? Maybe he's just rattled because of the battle we all came from,~ thought Paul as he listened. He expected that the FO might want to know more specifics in terms of the former Geneva people, how they were recovering, how they had weathered the mess that took place on the planet below. There was nothing though, maybe he had already looked into it. Maybe the reason he asked was because he already knew and he was attempting to not bring up old wounds.   Paul stood up. "Sir, my staff has always been 'up to my specifications'. They increased all expectations on Geneva and I'm sure they'll perform admirably here too. Admittedly at the moment, they're a little rattled from a combat mission as we don't usually partake in them as we just came from a space station where diplomacy and first contact short hauls are more the mode of operation. You have been given some of the finest crew members in the fleet to add to your own fine crew and if you don't mind me saying so, you're lucky to have them. Yes Sir, I will inform you of any difficulties with other members of the crew, however I have my doubts that will be at issue as long as they understand how rank works, if they don't I do understand how discipline works in Starfleet as do I understand the chain of command. Thank you for your time and information.  Now Sir, if I may be excused I have some work to do in my new department before the simulation begins," stated Paul, keeping his voice even and squashing any hint of annoyance out of it. After all, he had to give the commander the benefit of the doubt. There was a good chance that in being so rushed to get caught up after being several days away from the ship, he'd just lost track of a few things   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - FO's Office- Commander Trevan West- 0902) ====================================         Paul stood up. "Sir, my staff has always been 'up to my specifications'. They increased all expectations on Geneva and I'm sure they'll perform admirably here too. Thank you for your time and information.  Now Sir, if I may be excused I have some work to do in my new department before the simulation begins,"      Trevan gestured to the seat, "Please Paul, sit down." he said it as gently as possible.     "I know you and your crew are the best. If they weren't, they wouldn't be here. Granted you are not combat officer, nor did we expect you to be, however you guys did one hell of a job back on the planet and I am going to let you in on a little secret. I am recommending commendations for all of your crew. You all did better then most officers in your place would have done. Hell, I can remember back to my first mission here on Boudicca, I was a total mess. I was right out of the academy and was placed onboard just before we went into combat. So I know how you all must feel. Alright, I have been a bit of a prig recently and anyone can tell you that, but honestly that's just Command mode. I am not such a bad guy you know?" he replied       "Well, after discussing the matter with you, the holodeck simulation is only recommended, it's not required. If you want to be there, great, if not, no big deal as I know you have a lot to deal with in your department. Also, I would like to meet with you at 1500 today to compare notes and see how you have decided to run your department and what crew you will keep. If there is nothing else, you are dismissed." he said it as nice as possible, not letting his anger out. It had been a long few weeks and he was looking forward to a little r&r before the next mission came along.      ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1245) ==================================== Paul walked onto the holodeck. The simulation had already been formed to be a perfect replica of the USS Boudicca's bridge. He walked around, looking at the stations. No personnel had been added yet. Once the simulation started, it was designed to add anyone necessary and remove them as flesh and blood officers joined the simulation. The holographic personnel were designed to vacate their station and move off the bridge, so as to give it a seemless feel.   Strolling the bridge, he was amazed at both how similar and different it was from the first ship he'd served on, the Nimitz. Paul passed by every part of the bridge, looking at the duty stations. The CONN looked more or less identical to the Mithrandir, but larger. The tactical section was much more like the Nimitz however. He saw few things to compare to the Geneva's Nova Class vessel, except maybe the command chair.   After idly touring the bridge he sat down in the command chair. This was the first command chair he'd been in since he left Geneva. He had regularly sat in the command chair in main operations. He found this one less comfortable than that chair, but more comfortable than the one he found on the Mithrandir. Paul missed the station almost as much as he'd missed the Nimitz when he had first transferred. ~I'd made Geneva home. I'm sure I can work something out here too.~ Paul looked to the chair arms and then said out loud.   "Computer, location?"   [The USS Boudicca is currently in sector 583, bearing mark 2.]   Paul searched his memory, that was no help. "Computer, mission specifications?"   [This information is locked. Mission specifications will be unlocked at 1300 on Stardate 2407.01.18.]   ~Damn, was worth a try,~ thought Paul. The location was no help at all, they were in empty space as near as he could figure, probably on a patrol vector. He would just have to wait like everyone else.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1251) ==================================== Brian walked into the holodeck after a lunch appointment with a young security officer who was engaged in heavy combat on the planet. Brian marked it up has his first counseling session of his time on Boudicca, and thought of it has a success, has the man seemed happy on his way out. Brian walked into the replica bridge, and realized he had yet to visit the real bridge of the Boudicca. Then he recalled, aside from the walk between his quarters and the nearest mess hall, he had yet to see any other part of the ship, aside from the transporter room, sickbay, quartermaster's and StratOps. The bridge had a similar look and feel to an actual bridge, has it had holographic crewmembers strolling about. It was a nice touch. Brian spotted Commander Casely and walked over to his superior. "Hello, sir," Brian said in passing to Casely has he headed around to the master systems display on the bridge and looked at the layout of the USS Boudicca. (reply Casely, iyw) "She's a odd ship, thats for sure," Brian said, referring to the design of the Boudicca, "It looks like no other Starfleet ship I've ever seen," Brian offered..   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1253) ==================================== Paul looked up from the command chair at the Lieutenant. "Yes, she is an interesting design to be sure Brian. There aren't many Keltoi Class vessels in service, not a lot were ever made. She's a warship through and through. Its going to take some getting used to, but we'll manage. If we can move from a Starbase, to a Nova Class vessel for one mission and then to a Defiant Class vessel for another, we can handle this. It'll just take some getting used to," replied Paul to the counsellor. Paul had already felt some adjustment difficulties himself, but at least he'd been on both this vessel and the Night Watch before, although his first experience with the Boudicca wasn't overly enjoyable.   (Reply Rogers iyw)   "So, how are you finding things so far? Any problems?" asked Paul, "We seem to have a few minutes to spare. Damned mission won't unlock until 1300." Paul wasn't really annoyed by this, he'd rather have the entire group there before they got started anyway, although he was curious about what the nature of their training mission would be.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1-CMO Lt.Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-12:55) ====================================       Upon walking into the holodeck, Kaitlyn stopped short of herself and took a moment to take in all the detail the holodeck had put into the recreation of the bridge on the Boudicca.  In doing so, she spotted the coffee tucked away in a corner of the holodeck.       Going straight towards it, she thought, ~This will come in handy.~  Getting herself a cup of coffee, she then spotted Casely and Rogers standing near the middle of the bridge.  Walking up to them, she only caught the last statement made by Casely.       "We seem to have a few minutes to spare. Damned mission won't unlock until 1300."       "Well...there went my next question out the window," she said, then took a sip of her coffee.       "Since you don't know what the mission's about, I'm also going to conclude we're in for a run for our money."   <>       Raising her eyebrows, she wanted to know just as badly as they did.  Whatever the mission entailed she was certain they would be able to handle it.  They'd handled many things before as a close knit group, and they would not let anyone on the ship down.       Taking yet another sip of her coffee, she stood around and waited with both Casely and Rogers for more crew to arrive.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1257) ==================================== Paul watched as Kaitlyn joined them. She hadn't heard the medical officer enter the holodeck, but he was relatively entranced with both the bridge and his conversation with the counsellor.   "Since you don't know what the mission's about, I'm also going to conclude we're in for a run for our money," stated the doctor.   Paul laughed at this comment. "We're senior crew, not cadets. They'll throw everything they can at us, and well they should. I would think we'll be in for a bumpy ride... and I say... bring it on!"   Paul watched as Kaitlyn raised her eyebrows at his last comment. The suspense of finding out their mission was killing him.   [Two minutes until mission unlocks. Assemble your crew in proper stations.] the computer intoned.   ~Where the heck is everyone?~ Paul thought to himself. He knew that if people arrived late it wouldn't be the end of the world, as the computer would fill in those positions until taken by living and breathing crew members. He hoped that some of the long standing Boudicca crew would join them, although he had to admit, he was looking forward to being in control of the bridge for awhile, even if it was just a simulation. It was already starting to feel like the old days on the USS Mithrandir.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck One, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 1259) ====================================   Sam had spent most of the morning trying to familiarize herself with the security and tactical systems and opperations of the Boudicca. She walked into the holodeck and looked around at the surroundings. The bridge simulation was impressive.   She saw that Casely, Rogers and Mackenzie were already there. "I hope I'm not late," she said as she walked over towards them.   (Reply Casely, Rogers, Mackenzie, iyw)   "So what's the mission of the simulation?" she asked.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1259) ====================================   Ensign Chandler walked onto the holodeck just as the computer intoned [One Minute until mission unlock.]   Paul looked at her and grinned, "It would appear, Ensign, that you're right on time. Alright everyone. Take your places. Looks like the party is about to start." Paul glanced over to see Doctor Engtamn-Jensi walk into the simulation and go straight to the Science station without another word.   [Mission unlock in 5... 4... 3... 2...]   Seconds later, Paul sitting in the command chair, glanced up at the viewscreen. The face of an admiral blinked on screen.   =^=We have received Captain Sevant for the advanced planning meetings Lieutenant Commander. You can pick him up in three days. Until then, you're to begin area patrol. We are transmitting the patrol district to your helm. Be careful and we'll see you in three days. Give my best to Commander West when his shift begins.=^=   ~Clever, explains a great deal without a mission briefing.~ "Aye Sir, Thank you sir. Boudicca out," said Paul trying to contain his own glee.   "Helm, please begin the patrol vector. Everyone else, please test your stations, report any problems with the equipment to engineering and then report your status to me. Just because we're looking for needles in haystacks doesn't mean we can't ensure everything is working properly," stated Paul with a grin. It seemed they were underway. For now a standard patrol. ~Standard patrol, there's no such thing in Starfleet training missions. I'm sure this will be interesting.~   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-12:59) ====================================       With one minute left on the countdown, all they could do was stand around and wait until the simulation unlocked.       "We're senior crew, not cadets. They'll throw everything they can at us, and well they should. I would think we'll be in for a bumpy ride... and I say... bring it on!"       Admiring Casely's attitude towards what they had in store for them, Kaitlyn fully agreed and copped the same attitude back.        "Alright....let's see the best they got," she stated as the computer started the countdown.  "You know where I'll be," she stated as she headed towards the turbolift as soon as the scenario unlocked.        Once inside the turbolift, she mumbled to herself, "Lets do this."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren - 1300) ==================================== Matthew jogged through the doors of the holodeck panting. The ache in his chest had eased and he found himself able to move around much more freely now. He found himself on the Boudicca's bridge, a place that he still hadn't visited yet. He had spent most of the morning going over the engineering specs for the Boudicca. Matthew stood at the back of the bridge while an admiral spoke on screen. =^=We have received Captain Sevant for the advanced planning meetings Lieutenant Commander. You can pick him up in three days. Until then, you're to begin area patrol. We are transmitting the patrol district to your helm. Be careful and we'll see you in three days. Give my best to Commander West when his shift begins,=^= the admiral said on screen. As the image blinked out to be replaced by the star field, Matthew walked towards Casely. As he passed the DR he noticed she had yet another cup of coffee.  "Gees, you drink more of that stuff than me." He said to her with a wink. (reply Kaitlyn iiw) He walked up to  Casely sitting in the command chair. "Sorry I'm a bit late sir." He said. (Reply Casely iiw) "I caught the message, do we know what we're doing out here." (reply Casely) "Hmm, ok, do you want me on the bridge or engineering?"   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1302) ====================================   After the mission had unlocked McLaren presented himself to Paul. He considered his options in terms of assigning the ACEO. "For now Mr. McLaren, take your bridge station. Be ready to go to engineering at any point though. I do believe that Mr. Fredericks is going to join us at some point. Ensure you coordinate with him, as he is the head of your department."   (Reply McLaren)   Paul nodded and watched as he proceeded to the bridge engineering console. Shortly after, Doctor Mackenzie left the bridge for what he was supposing was sickbay. It was then that he noticed the counsellor looking annoyed at his console and the situation in general. He turned to the counsellor on his left.   "Mr. Rogers, you do realise that your controls are pretty... interesting... on a starship. You do a lot more on the bridge of a starship than you ever would on a Starbase. Your computer system should contain cultural and linguistic species information for every species that the Federation has logged. It should contain common traits and those sorts of things. You should have a look at it," Paul stated quietly to him. Starship counsellor had broadened over the years to be more than just a glorified couch jockey. The starship counsellor had become a first line of defense in first contact missions, giving valuable advice and ideas when encountering new, or established species.   (Reply Rogers)   Paul sat back for a few moments and waited for station reports. He hoped the ship was operating properly, as he knew that the simulation would likely have a rough ride ahead. Engtamn was the first to report. He walked up to Paul and handed him a PADD.   "Sir, the basic systems check out. I'm a little worried about the long range sensors. They don't seem properly calibrated. I've sent the request through OPs. Hopefully Engineering will get to it soon if there isn't anything more pressing," stated Engtamn softly. Paul nodded and thanked him.   (Reply others with status reports of your equipment and departments)   Paul listened and watched the hive of activity that was the bridge. Things seemed to be routine... and somewhat boring to be truthful. Paul knew that this was a basic truth about working on a starship, a lot of the time nothing went wrong and nothing happened.   "Ummm... Sir... we seem to be getting a signal of some sort," stated the OPs officer.   Paul raised an eyebrow, "Any idea on what that signal happens to be?"   "Sir, it seems to be a distress signal, but its very weak," came the response.   That was it, the start of something. Paul snapped into 'command mode'. "Yellow Alert. Mr. Engtamn-Jensi, please start scanning now, including for life signs. Mr. McLaren, I need some way to be able to hear that signal. I want to hear their message. Mr. Chandler, be ready for anything, make sure this isn't a trap," Paul then pressed a key in the command chair, "Doctor Mackenzie, we're getting a distress signal. You might want to start prepping triage."   (Reply McLaren, Chandler, Mackenzie)   Paul raised his eyebrows and turned to Rogers, "Brian, this worries me. I don't want to be taking us into another Kobayashi Maru ."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - ACEO LTJG McLaren, 1303) ==================================== Matthew had run level 5 diagnostics on all the critical systems and had found nothing immediately wrong that couldn't be taken care of quickly. He than got a request about the long range sensors from OPS which he quickly ran another diagnostic on and began recalibrating them. He downloaded the readings to a PADD and walked back over to Casely. "Sir everything is operating at optimum efficiency." He said handing over the PADD. (reply Casely) "I fixed the problem with the long range sensors, they weren't calibrated properly." He explained. They're conversation was cut short by a call from the OPS station. "Ummm... Sir... we seem to be getting a signal of some sort," stated the OPs officer. Paul raised an eyebrow, "Any idea on what that signal happens to be?" "Sir, it seems to be a distress signal, but its very weak," came the response. Matthew was already at his console trying to boost the gain on the signal. "Yellow Alert." Paul called out and the bridge lighting changed to yellow as the tension went up a notch.  "Mr. McLaren, I need some way to be able to hear that signal. I want to hear their message."  He said "I'm already on it sir." Matthew said not looking up from his work. Paul gave out some more orders and by the time he was done Matthew had the signal. "Sir, i have audio, its not perfect but it'll be understandable." He said. "I'll put it on speakers." A slightly distorted voice came over the com. Matthew kept working on cleaning up the signal as the message progressed.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – CEO/2O - Lieutenant John Fredericks - 1303) ==================================== Fredericks walked up to the door to the holodeck and queried the computer as to who all had arrived. After getting the information he moved to enter the deck. “Enter” he spoke to the aloud since the holodeck doors did not respond to simply walking up to them . As the doors whooshed open he walked in and located LT Commander Paul Casey and approached him. “Sorry I’m late Commander, is there any specific place you want me or should I just make myself available to fill in as needed?” (Reply Paul) “Aye, sir” Fredericks replied and moved to a seat near the Engineering consol. As he approached the officer at the station he recognized him as being one new to the ship. A brief remembrance of his own first day flashed through his mind of himself making the nightmarish journey to the bridge, carrying the phaser rifle and trying to dodge the Psy-ders that had attacked the starship. Sitting down he offered his hand to his new Assistant CEO. “Sorry we haven’t had time to meet yet. I’m Fredericks, John Fredericks CEO Boudicca. I’m happy to meet you. Go ahead and continue. I’m just here to observe and fill in as needed”.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1304) ==================================== =^=We have received Captain Sevant for the advanced planning meetings Lieutenant Commander. You can pick him up in three days. Until then, you're to begin area patrol. We are transmitting the patrol district to your helm. Be careful and we'll see you in three days. Give my best to Commander West when his shift begins,=^= the admiral said. Brian watched with an odd stare on his face. Moments ago he had taken his place on the seat on Commander Casely's left and was now ready to 'advise' Casely at a moment's notice, however everything seemed routine. "Helm, please begin the patrol vector. Everyone else, please test your stations, report any problems with the equipment to engineering and then report your status to me. Just because we're looking for needles in haystacks doesn't mean we can't ensure everything is working properly," Commander Casely said. Brian looked to the small console located in front of his chair and began searching the ship's technical file. ~Interesting...~ he thought to himself has he paged over the file. Minutes later, he began to feel more and more bored with the mission. ~Is anything going to happen?!~ he demanded in his head. Finally he kicked back in and leaded back in the seat and waited for something exciting to happen.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1304) ==================================== Paul smiled when Fredericks presented himself. ~Excellent! Old gets a chance to work with new. That is absolutely ideal.~   "Welcome aboard Mr. Fredericks. As you are Chief Engineer, the Engineering station is yours. Your new ACEO, Lieutenant McLaren, is here. He's a hard worker, but you'll find he's very much used to working on his own. There were only a couple of Engineering officers on the Starbase with a large number of enlisted men. Hopefully you can acclimatize him to working on a starship," replied Paul.   “Aye, sir” Fredericks replied and moved to a seat near the Engineering consol.   Paul nodded and watched as Fredericks went to meet McLaren. He hoped the two men would get along, and knew that McLaren would benefit a great deal from Fredericks' experience.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:04) ====================================       Waiting down in the spacious sickbay, Kaitlyn had little to do except to wait for any incoming messages from the bridge as she was used to.  Since this was just a simulation, she needn't bother with reports and PADDs and everything else that was normal clutter to take up her day.       ~Who designed these holographic nurses anyways?~  Scrutinizing the holograms and making herself comfortable with sickbay in the same process were going hand in hand.  Most of it was familiar to her, as she had served on a starship before.  In fact, she always liked serving aboard starships better.  There were less people in there on a daily bases and it was smaller and easier to keep track of things.  When compared to a starbase medical facility, they were huge.  The only thing different about this is that she had to get familar with the Boudicca's systems.        "Doctor Mackenzie, we're getting a distress signal. You might want to start prepping triage."       "I'm on it sir," she said, as she started grabbing various items and stocking them onto trays and carts.  Hyposprays, tricorders, neural stimulators, cardiac stimulators...anything, she didn't care what it was.  She had to be prepared for the worst.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - ACEO LTJG McLaren, 1305) ==================================== Reports flooded the console as Matthew worked, he didn't notice the doors open and close nearby as a man Matthew didn't recognize walked past him and up to Casely. A few minutes later the man came over to where Matthew was working. “Sorry we haven’t had time to meet yet. I’m Fredericks, John Fredericks CEO Boudicca. I’m happy to meet you. Go ahead and continue. I’m just here to observe and fill in as needed" Matthew shook hands with the man. "Lieutenant Matthew McLaren, pleased to meet you too, sir. I'm just running diagnostics at the moment, nothing really pressing. Everything seems to be working though, there's some slight misalignment in the antimatter reaction chamber but i think i have it worked out now." Matthew reported. He was going to have to get used to working under someone directly. On Geneva he had just done what he thought was right to keep the station going and hadn't had anyone to report too except the captain and the FO. ~This'll be interesting~   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1305) ==================================== Brian say, ready to pick his eyes out due to boredom when Commander Casely turned to him. "Mr. Rogers, you do realize that your controls are pretty... interesting... on a starship. You do a lot more on the bridge of a starship than you ever would on a Starbase. Your computer system should contain cultural and linguistic species information for every species that the Federation has logged. It should contain common traits and those sorts of things. You should have a look at it," Casely explained. Brian raised his eyebrow. It raised his interest. "Yes, sir. I'll check it out," Brian said has he began looking over the new control he had has he checked all the various databases and things he could now access. A few a few moments Brian checked the star map of the sector they were in. Nothing out of the ordinary. At least, not to Brian. Brian looked to Casely, "This is a pretty well equipped station, sir," Brian commented. NRPG: There is my status report. RPG: Brian was engaged in reading a report from the Starfleet Historical database about various alien cultures when suddenly the Ops officer turned to Casely. "Ummm... Sir... we seem to be getting a signal of some sort," the officer said. Brian turned his attention to Casely and listened into the conversation. "Any idea on what that signal happens to be?" "Sir, it seems to be a distress signal, but its very weak," The officer said. After that Casely began handing out orders to various members of the command staff. After a few moments of handing out orders, Paul turned to Brian, "Brian, this worries me. I don't want to be taking us into another Kobayashi Maru." ~Hmmm, is there were I come in? To advise the commander?~ Brian thought to himself. "Oh come on sir, they wouldn't pull the same trick twice. And besides... the Klingon's are our allies now," Brian commented, hoping for some humor to raise the mood. (reply Casely, iyw) "Seriously, sir, I wouldn't worry. We've got a good crew, and I hear these Keltoi class ships aren't exactly a push over," Brian added.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1314) ==================================== Paul nodded at Brian as McLaren told him he had made some headway in cleaning up the message.   =^=This is... USS N.... been attacked... over 800...=^=   Paul cocked an eyebrow. This was starfleet for certain, but what side of the conflict? And the 800, were those personnel on board, or the number of attackers? This was starting to resemble shades of the Kobyashi Maru. Paul leaned over and responded to Brian.   "We have plenty other enemies besides Klingons to worry about now. Although I doubt they would use this on me. I already passed that scenario, its why I'm sitting in this seat."   (Reply Rogers)   Paul turned to the holographic image at the helm station. "How long before we reach them?"   "You're looking at about 32 minutes at maximum warp, Sir."   Paul nodded.   "Mr. McLaren, Mr. Fredericks, try and find a way to clean up that signal and get a response out to them that we're on our way. Please also make sure emergency beam out procedures are ready. Mr. Fredericks, correct me if I'm wrong, the Boudicca is able life support wise to handle an evacuation of 800 onto her if need be? Mr. Chandler, we're going to need weapons online. Attacked is attacked, that means red alert," said Paul.   (Reply McLaren, Fredericks, Chandler)   Paul tapped a key on his chair and opened a channel to sickbay, "Doctor, I've got some rather distressing news. We maybe clearing way for an evacuation of 800 people to come onboard the Boudicca. Get your people ready for the enevitable casualties and please ensure the cargobays are ready, but sealable. We don't know which side this 'Federation' ship is on. We have about 32 minutes before we reach whatever the ship is."   (Reply Mackenzie)   Paul looked around the bridge, he needed some way to get in as quietly as possible, right now they were barralling in like a bull in a china shop.   "I need options and ideas folks. How are we going to make our way in there and out again without stirring the hornets nest? Remember, our objective is to save lives." Paul asked.     ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, bridge simulation - ACEO LTJG McLaren, 1315) ==================================== =^=This is... USS N.... been attacked... over 800...=^= The message was replaced with static as Matthew frantically tried to get it back. "Mr. McLaren, Mr. Fredericks, try and find a way to clean up that signal and get a response out to them that we're on our way. Please also make sure emergency beam out procedures are ready. Mr. Fredericks, correct me if I'm wrong, the Boudicca is able life support wise to handle an evacuation of 800 onto her if need be?" (reply Fredericks) Matthew ran the message that he had downloaded through some more filters and extrapolated where he needed too. Then he realized that he had just started working without getting orders from the CEO. ~Dam I'll have to get use to this~. He looked up at Fredericks. "Sorry sir, i should have asked what you wanted me to do before i started, i was just trying to clean the signal up. I haven't really worked directly under anyone before." He said.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers- 1317) ==================================== Brian listened in with Commander Casely has Lt. McLaren played the message back. =^=This is... USS N.... been attacked... over 800...=^= Brian rubbed his chin and thought deeply. Perhaps he spoke too soon, has this looked more and more the like the old Kobyashi Maru. Brian turned to his console and brought up a list of all registered ships that had the title 'USS' and the first letter N, but the list was too long and unruly to be of any assistance. Casely then turned to Rogers. "We have plenty other enemies besides Klingons to worry about now. Although I doubt they would use this on me. I already passed that scenario, its why I'm sitting in this seat." Brian responded with a single, "Aye, sir," has he sat back and thought deeply. Brian had begun command training under Casely back at Geneva, yet they had yet to begin any serious simulations before their stay was cut short. Casely gave out a few orders to various stations that were standard in this situation when he addressed the bridge has a hole, "I need options and ideas folks. How are we going to make our way in there and out again without stirring the hornets nest? Remember, our objective is to save lives." After a few moments, Brian spoke up, "The Boudicca has Type-9 Shuttles. We could just send a few officers on board the shuttle to scout the area, and to reassure the ship's survivors, then signal the Boudicca that its all clear," Brian offered.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:17) ====================================       As Kaitlyn was still readily setting up triage facilities within the holographic sickbay, she awaited future communications so she knew what was going on.  Glancing around at what she had alraedy set up, she wasn't for sure how many 'people' would be coming in, so the more prepared she was the better.       "Doctor, I've got some rather distressing news. We maybe clearing way for an evacuation of 800 people to come onboard the Boudicca. Get your people ready for the enevitable casualties and please ensure the cargobays are ready, but sealable. We don't know which side this 'Federation' ship is on. We have about 32 minutes before we reach whatever the ship is."       "Aye sir!"  She said in hurridly frustration.  ~800 people?!~  But she didn't have time to think about the amount of people they'd be evacuating, she had to busy herself with the rest of the plans.        Having had sickbay prepared, she then moved onto the cargo bays.  Preparing them didn't take long, as she just needed to make sure all equipement was out of the way and sealed from their 'guests.'  Then there was also the fact that they needed the amount of space to accompany all of them.  She knew she would have herself and her crew working round the clock on this one.  ~Thank goodness it's just a simulation,~ she thought, but that only helped relax her a litte bit.       "Greetings Doctor. I believe we have met briefly. I am Doctor Mor'rel. I am here to help you during this simulated mission. It seemed logical for me to join you, as we will be working together from now on. This will give us a chance to work together and get more familiar with each other before it is a life and death situation," stated Mor'rel evenly.       Turning around quickly, Kaitlyn had no idea Mor'rel was going to be a part of the simulation as well.  Mor'rel had startled her, but she tried not to look as if she had been.       Raising her eyebrow at Mor'rel's statement about the life and death situation, Kaitlyn responded, "Yes doctor, I think that's a good idea as well."       "As you clearly are of the higher rank, I am looking for your orders. Please be advised that I am available to aid you if you do not know the location of items or or systems on the Boudicca. It is like no other ship," stated Mor'rel.       Giving her head a curt nod, she said, "Well...I just may need your assistance after all.  You are aware of the situation I presume?"   <>       "Alright, well so far most of the systems around sickbay are set up and I have people clearing out the cargo bays to receive the estimated 800 people.  The only thing I have left to do is contact security to make sure they post themselves outside the cargo bays."   <>       As the two talked about the situation, Kaitlyn started to wonder in the back of her mind just how good the two would be able to click together and work well.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - holodeck 2, bridge simulation - ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren - 1318) ==================================== LT Casely called out to the bridge crew and asked for suggestions. After a few moments, Brian spoke up, "The Boudicca has Type-9 Shuttles. We could just send a few officers on board the shuttle to scout the area, and to reassure the ship's survivors, then signal the Boudicca that its all clear," Brian offered. Matthew mulled this over. "Only trouble is they wouldn't last long in a fire fight if the attacker is still there and we don't want to sacrifice more people." He said contemplating their options. "(Reply any iiw) "Could we send recon probes instead?" Matthew suggested after a few moments. (Reply any)   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1319 ==================================== "Only trouble is they wouldn't last long in a fire fight if the attacker is still there and we don't want to sacrifice more people," Lt. McLaren said. Brian thought about this. "Well, a Type-9 shuttle would hopefully be fast enough to make it away in time," Brian suggested. His only concern was that with a shuttle, they could notify the crew of the ship, maybe even beam over a survivor who was in critical status. (reply any, iyw) "Could we send recon probes instead?" McLaren asked. Brian nodded in agreement. "We could modify a probe so that it acted has a communications array, use it to get a clear message to the ship," Brian offered.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge - ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren – 1321 ==================================== When LT Casely gave the order to cloak Matthew groaned. He couldn't believe he'd overlooked something so obvious.  Tapping in the necessary commands into his console, he waited for tactical to engage the cloak. He scrolled through the ships systems and couldn't believe he'd missed it. ~Man I'm an idiot.~ The bridge lighting dimmed to an dull glow as the cloak engaged. As the Boudicca came into visual range of the other ship, Matthew couldn't help feeling uneasy. It was just like rescuing the USS Montcalm back at Geneva. They'd walked into a trap there and this didn't look any better.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1325)  ====================================   Paul listened to both his officers and sighed inwardly. They were good ideas if they were a long way off or weren't afraid of enemies in the area. Shuttles would not facilitate a widescale beamout and would cause difficulties if attacked. A probe, while useful, might not do people who were dying on board that vessel much good. They need the Boudicca to get in there fast and out again. Paul had hoped that the Chief Engineer would chime in and tell him what he knew would be the best option, but he was strangely silent. This was a training mission after all, part of the training was seeing what ship's systems everyone knew. At this point they were only about 15 minutes away.   Paul stood up looked over at Ensign Chandler, "Ensign, engage cloak and drop to impulse. Take us in at silent running. Give me a visual on the ship."   Listing in the distance was a Sovereign Class vessel, the side burned to hell. Paul could also hear the screams of the victims as the ship had been attacked. It brought back memories of battles past. Sovereign Class injured had other implications.   "Casely to Doctor Mackenzie. The ship out there is a Sovereign. At least 800 souls on board. We're scanning for life forms, but be prepared to take a lot of people," said Paul. He then looked back to the bridge crew.   (Reply Mackenzie)   "Engineering, is the ship salvageable? Can we fix it enough to help them to a Starbase?" asked Paul knowing they'd have to scan the ship's systems.   (Reply McLaren or Fredericks)   "Mr. Rogers, please scan for individual lifesigns. How many people are on board. And can someone turn off the red alert klaxon please? Its giving me a headache!" said Paul, ending in a shout.   (reply Rogers)   Paul then felt the drop to impulse. He knew that this would slow their advance somewhat, but would rather that then add their own people to the injured list.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay Simulation - Triage Chief - Doctor Mor'rel - 1326) ====================================   Mor'rel strode into the sickbay. It was an exact replica of what he was used to working in. Mor'rel was extremely aware that the young woman working in here outranked him, and he was set for a venue change soon. It didn't really bother him, he had worked long to suppress the emotions that would allow him to have that sort of an ego. He hoped that he would be moved into an area that was better for his particular skills, and would allow him more time for medical research.   "Greetings Doctor. I believe we have met briefly. I am Doctor Mor'rel. I am here to help you during this simulated mission. It seemed logical for me to join you, as we will be working together from now on. This will give us a chance to work together and get more familiar with each other before it is a life and death situation," stated Mor'rel evenly, betraying no emotion.   (Reply Mackenzie)   "As you clearly are of the higher rank, I am looking for your orders. Please be advised that I am available to aid you if you do not know the location of items or or systems on the Boudicca. It is like no other ship," stated Mor'rel.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay Simulation - Triage Chief - Doctor Mor'rel - 1328) ====================================   Giving her head a curt nod, Doctor Mackenzie said, "Well...I just may need your assistance after all.  You are aware of the situation I presume?"   "I am roughly aware of what is being faced, yes," replied Mor'rel. It was true, there was little more to know than that there were several wounded on their way.   "Alright, well so far most of the systems around sickbay are set up and I have people clearing out the cargo bays to receive the estimated 800 people.  The only thing I have left to do is contact security to make sure they post themselves outside the cargo bays."   Mor'rel nodded. "Have you seen the triage centre yet? This entire deck is dedicated to medical treatment," said Mor'rel walking over to a section of the wall and pressing a few keys. Soon the wall slid open to reveal a large area of less impressive looking biobeds stacked side by side tightly, "There are approximately 100 triage beds in here. This is what we use in major assaults. Of course, only wounded that cannot be easily treated end up here, but you might find it helpful. It has been my general triage plan to allow less crucial cases to stay in the cargo bay or whatever designated area you have to be treated by nurse practicioners, more major cases go to triage where I look after them, the most major cases go to you in the main sickbay with the most advanced treatment and ranking doctor, which would be yourself. Unless you find this method unworkable for your particular style."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:29) ====================================       Knowing that Mor'rel was up as far as what was going on in the mission made Kaitlyn feel better.  Not that they really knew of anything of substance yet, but it was always good to keep others informed.       "Have you seen the triage centre yet? This entire deck is dedicated to medical treatment," said Mor'rel walking over to a section of the wall and pressing a few keys.       Kaitlyn watched as the wall slid open to reveal what looked like close to 100 biobeds tightly packed together.  Raising an eyebrow, Kaitlyn decided this would be an experience alright.  When she had served on the Paladin, she remembered her old starship serving days alright.  But the Paladin wasn't quite as big as the Boudicca was.  To her, this was just another starship to serve on.  She wasn't familiar with some of the specs just yet, but she presumed it would take her awhile before she became in tune with the ship and it's systems.       "There are approximately 100 triage beds in here. Unless you find this method unworkable for your particular style."       Folding her arms across her chest as she looked in the triage area, she said, "No not really.  I don't really have a particular style, as long as the work gets done.  However in cases like these it is usually a good thing to develop one."    <>       "Well...so far I agree with you as far as traumas and treatments go.  I'll stay in the main area of sickbay and take care of the critically wounded.  Since the cargo bays will be holding the majority of the people, wounded or otherwise, I'll have medical officers in there doing as many treatments as they can."   <>       "It's your choice.  You're certainly welcome to stay in here and assist me with the critical cases or you may head up the cargo bays.....what say you?"   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay Simulation - Triage Chief - Doctor Mor'rel - 1331) ====================================   Mor'rel listened as Doctor Mackenzie ran through her basic plans. There was nothing overly shocking here, it sounded like what he had done in the past.  When she was finished, she only gave him two options, main sickbay or a cargo bay. Perhaps she hadn't understood that Triage was a separate department.   "I will neither be in main sickbay nor in a cargo bay. I will help in coordinating the Triage Centre. They are generally run as separate departments," replied Mor'rel impassively.   (Reply Mackenzie)   Mor'rel gazed at her. "I have been told that my bedside manner is severely lacking, a trait which I would agree with as it requires emotional responses. For that reason, triage, which requires logic and expediency to make decisions, seems like a logical choice for me. Very seldom will bedside manner influence decisions in triage, and if it is necessary there are nurses and other medical officers to help with that."   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1331) ==================================== Brian waited for an answer from Commander Casely, but the order to drop to impulse and activate the cloaking device was an answer enough. Suddenly, the ship came into few and saw it was a Sovereign class ship, and the side was severely damaged. Brian raised an eyebrow. ~Hmmm... it takes a lot of firepower to cause that amount of damage to a Sovereign Class.~ Then, Commander Casely turned to Rogers. "Mr. Rogers, please scan for individual lifesigns. How many people are on board," Casely asked. "Aye, sir," Brian said has he turned to his console and began plugging in commands. After a few moments he got his answer. "At this range, roughly 773 lifeforms, give or take a few. We can get an exact number once we get closer. Also, I didn't want to do a invasive scan with the sensor array, since the ship that attacked them may be able to find us that way," Brian said.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:32) ====================================       "I will neither be in main sickbay nor in a cargo bay. I will help in coordinating the Triage Centre. They are generally run as separate departments," replied Mor'rel impassively.       "Right..."  Kaitlyn whispered under her breath.  "Ok then, that suits me just as well."  Moving about sickbay, she then moved into the triage center to get a better look at where the equipment and supplies were being kept.       "I have been told that my bedside manner is severely lacking, a trait which I would agree with as it requires emotional responses. For that reason, triage, which requires logic and expediency to make decisions, seems like a logical choice for me. Very seldom will bedside manner influence decisions in triage, and if it is necessary there are nurses and other medical officers to help with that."       Poking around in one of the drawers, Kaitlyn responded, "Well, I can't disagree with your logic as it were."  She then shut the drawer after finding the necessarily tools she was looking for.  "Well then...since we're in agreement with where we're going to be working, lets start by preparing the triage center.  That is the only place I haven't stocked yet."   <>       Most generally she knew the triage centers didn't need to be overly stocked, as most of the supplies they would need would already be in there.  However, since Mor'rel had just shown her the flip side of sickbay, Kaitlyn was doing some mental reevaluation of the place.  ~Maybe I'll need Mor'rel's help after all,~ she thought as she gathered a few more items and placed them onto the trays in the triage center.       Looking at the chronometer, she said, "It would seem we have about 15 minutes or so before we come into contact with that other ship."   <>       Arching her eyebrow, she said, "...sounds about right."  The vulcan sense of timing was impeckable.  They could tell you down to the last second when things were going to happen or occur.  Of coarse this was all a part of their logic for being exact and most precise as possible.        Kaitlyn then tapped her commbadge.  "Mackenzie to security."       =^=Security here ma'am.=^=       "I'm going to need some officers posted outside of the cargo bays.  We have about 800 people coming aboard, I'm sure you're aprised of the situation."       =^=Yes ma'am, we're on it.  Security out.=^=       Sighing, she wondered how this simulation would turn out to prove itself.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1332) ====================================   Paul suppressed a chuckle when he saw the reaction of McLaren when he asked for cloaking. He was sure McLaren wouldn't make THAT omission again.   Paul listened to Rogers' report. ~773 lifeforms... hmmm... an awful lot.~   "Mr. Rogers, please relay that information to Doctor Mackenzie," stated Paul before turning to the engineering team, "Mr. McLaren, Mr. Fredericks, what kind of shape is that craft in? She doesn't look good, are we in any danger from her?"   (Reply Rogers, McLaren, Fredericks)   Paul watched as they flew closer to the ship. "Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, how are we doing with the communications array?"   "Almost up, Sir."   Paul nodded, this wasn't that bad. It was going rather well. It was then that he saw the ship more clearly, or more notably some of the script on it. ~NCC 75878-E.~  Paul felt a lump in his throught. ~Those sons of... they did this on purpose! They chose THAT SHIP on purpose!~ Paul sat down hard. Of course they chose that ship on purpose. He had to remain cool and calm, he had to help that ship and keep hold of his senses. He had to ensure that his emotions didn't take hold, that's what he was being tested for. Paul looked on as the holographic image of the first ship he'd served on, the USS Nimitz, drifted crippled. He wondered who the programme had killed of the 800 strong crew. He wondered which of his friends he would have to deal with the loss of. ~Its just a holographic simulation. This isn't real. Get a grip.~ That thought helped a bit, but the possibility of dealing with ships or crew that he had served with, that he cared about in trouble was real. Being able to deal with it in a proper and detached manner was part of the job.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren - 1334) ==================================== "Mr. McLaren, Mr. Fredericks, what kind of shape is that craft in? She doesn't look good, are we in any danger from her?" Paul asked. Matthew had already run preliminary scans and reported on what he had found. "there's high levels of radiation on board which makes it difficult to scan. From what I'm Getting they've lost life support on several decks due to 4 hull breeches in separate locations. They only have emergency power online, no engines or offensive capabilities. I'm reading fluctuations in the warp plasma injectors which could lead to a breech if they don't get that sorted out. They're not going anywhere." He finished and looked to Fredericks to see if he had anything to add. (Reply Casely, Fredericks) As they drew closer to the ship the registry became readable on the top hull of the vessel. NCC 75878-E. Matthew entered that into his console to find out what ship it was. "Sir, i have a positive confirmation on the registry of that ship. Its the USS Nimitz. Apart of the 52nd fleet." The name sounded familiar and he couldn't work out why. Had he read something about that ship before? He continued running scans as they got closer to gather any more information relevant to the ships status.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – CEO/2O –LT John Fredericks - 1334) ==================================== Letting McLaren take the first scan John then took his own readings as Matthew was calling his off . ~Whew~ He thought to himself. ~Glad this is just a simulation~ Agreed, sensors show emergency power only, Phasers appear to be drained. I read most of the complement of torpedoes still on board but not enough power to fire them. Main drive is off line as is impulse. There are fluctuation in the plasma injectors. A breech is not imminent but is possible if the problem is not corrected. Life support has partially failed on decks 8, 10, 11 and 23. Shields have been drained but appear to be undamaged otherwise. Radiation levels are in the high normal range on most of the ship and high levels emitting from Engineering and main cargo bay areas. Reading life signs aboard but regretfully not on any of the breached levels, engineering section, or main Cargo bay. Sensors show the escape pod system to be off line but also show the full complement of pods, shuttle, drop ships and runabouts. McLaren continued "Sir, i have a positive confirmation on the registry of that ship. Its the USS Nimitz. Apart of the 52nd fleet." Not sure how long the newest member of the engineering crew had worked with a starships equipment before Fredericks was impressed by the quick way he responded and how quickly he was accustoming himself to the ships control systems. John knew he had come from a star base and the systems would be similar but different. He also knew that even though this was a holo image that after a while it became as real as life, or darn close to it.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - Nimitz CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1337) ====================================   The Boudicca's main view screen flickered and flashed as it tried to pick up a video signal.  There was a great deal of static, and then suddenly it came to life.  However the picture that they recieved did make anyone cheer for the success of their efforts.   The view screen showed a bridge that had been virtually decimated.  Support beams had fallen, and panels showed signs of recent explosions.  There was still a small fire that the suppresant system was, apparently, unable to contain.  Smoke filled the portions of the bridge, giving it a hazy look, as if it were all a bad dream.   A lone figure was seen moving at the Ops station.  The viewer focused on him.  It was the CO of the Nimitz, Captain Devan Sash.  He looked up at his own viewer and seemed to notice the faces looking back at him.   =^=Thank the Lord.  Boudicca, are you getting the audio feed aswell?=^=   (reply Boudicca)   Sash was looking a bit disheveled.  His uniform was ripped and burnt.  He had a burn scar across his right check and a trickle of blood seemd to be coming from his left ear.  He was, conspicuously, not using his left arm, but his face showed no sign of the pain he must be in.  Instead it showed something worse, it showed fear.   =^=Paul?  Paul Casely?  Oh thank god.  They came from nowhere Paul.  Nowhere I tell you.  I've never seen them so organized.  It was incredible.  And the power they weilded, was far beyond what we thought that they'd have.  Look what they did to the Nimitz.  I wouldn't have thought it was possible.  Zzt's dead, as is Hyland, and ...=^= his voice caught in his throat, as he looked as if he were fighting back tears, =^=Bixx.  Oh, Darteena, poor Darteena.=^=   Sash looked away for a moment at the charred body at his feet.  Then he pulled himself back together.  =^=Once the shields went down they started to transport over to take over the ship.  Tagon and his crew went to meet them, along with the Dorkin and his marines.  The last I heard, Tagon was still alive, but then internal comm systems went down.  Life support is on minumal right now.  I haven't had the computer calculate the total dead and wounded yet.  I haven't heard from sickbay either.=^=   (reply Boudicca)   =^=It was the Nausicans.  Somehow, they've managed to overcome their baser instincts and formed a cohesive force.  Someone was able to bring the Nausicans together.  They're more interested in fighting others as a group now, than fighting amoungst themselves.  How could this have happened.  Who could...  Oh my god, Darteena.=^=   With that the connection went dead.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck One, Bridge Simulation, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 1338) ====================================   Sam stood at the tactical station on the simulated bridge of the Boudicca. She had read some of the tactical schematics of the Boudicca to familiarize herself with the ship. But she hadn't realized that it had a cloak until someone else had mentioned it.   NRPG: Some of the ex-geneva people may remember the Raven. As I recall, it also had a cloak. So Sam would be familiar with that piece of technology considering she spent over a month on that ship.   RPG:   She stood and listened as the damaged ship was identified as the USS Nimitz. Looking at the viewscreen as the Nimitz's CO told them of the situation. She could easily see that they had been through one heck of a fight. She wondered about the security situation onboard.   The viewscreen went black as the connection went dead. Casely turned to all of those on the bridge. "Beam Captain Sash directly to sickbay and get the bridge crew over. I want security teams and marines beamed over to ensure the Nausicans are gone. Once the ship is secured, start beaming the wounded over to triage. Mr. Fredericks, Mr. McLaren, think you can stabilize that ship? Mr. Rogers, meet Captain Sash in sickbay, talk to him. Get any information you can from him. We are on high alert. I need continual sensor sweeps of the area. I don't want us to be caught unawares. Right now we save the crew of the Nimitz and try to salvage the ship. If we have the time and inclination we can worry about restitution later."   Sam nodded her head. Even knowing that it was a simulation didn't keep her heart from racing and breaking at the fate of Nimitz. Seeing any ship like that, an ally even more, would be hard on anybody. She could see that Casely was upset at seeing it.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1340) ====================================   Paul felt his gut wrench as he looked at the image of Sash on the screen. The bridge was in shambles. He could see his former station. ~What could do this kind of damage to a Sovereign Class vessel?~   =^=Thank the Lord.  Boudicca, are you getting the audio feed aswell?=^=   Paul nodded gravely, "Yes Captain, we are hearing you loud and clear."   Sash was looking a bit disheveled. Zzt's dead, as is Hyland, and Bixx. I haven't heard from sickbay either.=^=   "Who the hell did this to you Devon? What happened?" Paul could feel his emotions grip him now. Anger started to consume him. It was a simulation, but it felt so real. These were people he had served with, people he cared about.   =^=It was the Nausicans. Paul looked around the bridge and composed himself after a moment's breath. Right now we save the crew of the Nimitz and try to salvage the ship. If we have the time and inclination we can worry about restitution later."   (Reply Fredericks, McLaren, Rogers, Chandler, any)   Paul tapped a key on the command chair, "Doctor Mackenzie, its the Nimitz. There may still be hostiles on board, we have to send a team over to secure the ship. You'll be receiving the bridge crew immediately. Captain Sash is there and Mr. Rogers is coming down to help with him. I need information about the Nausicans who attacked from him, please bear that in mind before you sedate him."   (Reply Mackenzie)   Paul looked out at the Nimitz. Scarred and near destruction. He couldn't understand how this majestic ship was reduced to this, but there was no way he was going to let his former shipmates die over there. He caught his breath again, stifling a curse to the people who created this programme. He knew that as he watched the bridge crew was being brought directly to sickbay. Hopefully Rogers could find out exactly what happened. Hopefully, the Nimitz could be brought home.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1343) ==================================== Brian listened to the Nimitz's CO story about being attacked, and Commander Casely's outpour of emotion during the conversation. This... Captain Sash, has he were, explained that they were attacked by Nausicans, and a good part of the senior staff, including some close to the captain, were all killed. Brian rubbed his chin has he listened to the report, before the transmission went dead. Finally, Casely got it together and addressed the crew. He turned to Rogers. "Mr. Rogers, meet Captain Sash in sickbay, talk to him. Get any information you can from him. We are on high alert. I need continual sensor sweeps of the area. I don't want us to be caught unawares. Right now we save the crew of the Nimitz and try to salvage the ship. If we have the time and inclination we can worry about restitution later." Brian stood up, "Aye, sir. I'll find out what happened," and with that, Brian entered the turbolift. "Deck 7, Sickbay," and with that the turbolift started off.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:43) ====================================       Kaitlyn and Mor'rel had just finished discussing the differences in the Boudicca sickbay along with the traige center when Casely's voice cut through the air.       =^=Doctor Mackenzie, its the Nimitz. There may still be hostiles on board, we have to send a team over to secure the ship. You'll be receiving the bridge crew immediately. Captain Sash is there and Mr. Rogers is coming down to help with him. I need information about the Nausicans who attacked from him, please bear that in mind before you sedate him.=^=       ~The Nimitz?!  Boy they really know how to pull out a good simulation when they need to,~ she thought wryly.        "Yes sir, I'll let you know the information as soon as I do, Mackenzie out."  And with that, sickbay was instantly flooded with the bridge crew from the Nimitz.  The once silent sickbay was now filled with moans and cries of agony from the wounds they had sustained.        Rushing around one of the biobeds, Kaitlyn watched as Mor'rel then veered off towards the triage center.  Looking down at one of the crewman, she ran her tricorder across him, determining the severity of his wounds.  Damaged lungs from smoke inhalation, burnt face from exploding conduit, broken arm....the list kept growing, whether it was a minor or major occurance.       Grabbing a hypospray off her stocked cart, she pressed it to his neck and injected him, rendering him unconscious and unable to feel the pain he was feeling.  She didn't have the appropriate time to fix his whole arm as she was needed to move onto the next patient.  But she did what she could do, and ran a dermal regenerator over his burned face, and fixed his oxygen status.  That's when she felt a familiar presence next to her.       "Kaitlyn, Commander Casely has sent me to speak with Captain Sash. Is he ready to talk?" Brian asked.       Turning to face him, she said, "We'll see, I just need one more moment with him..."  As she was finishing up with the current crewman that lay on the biobed in front of her, Brian then asked her another question.         "How bad are they injured?"       Glancing around momentarilry, she replied, "Overall better than most I've seen, but it's still not looking good.  There are several severly injured and several who aren't...some got luckier than others."  She then slapped her tricorder shut and said, "Let's go see the Captain."       As they moved about three biobeds over, Captain Sash lay there in pain, just like the others.  However the captain didn't have the luxery of having to be injected into unconsciousness until she got some information out of him.       "Captain...I'm Doctor Mackenzie and this is Counselor Rogers.  I know that you're in pain and I'll do everything I can to help your condition.  But first...our commanding officer needs to know anything he can about what happened to you and your crew."   <>       Listening as Sash explained the circumstances they were in and what happened with the Nausicans, she was disgusted.  The Nausicans were never that friendly of a people to begin with, but to do this?        Patiently and calmly listening, she glanced up at Rogers from time to time wondering what he was thinking, and glad he was there to help.     ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay Simulation - Nimitz CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1345) ====================================   Sash lay on the biobed, his mind trying not to think of the injured.moaning and, mostly probably dying, all because he was caught unprepared.  How did the Earthers call it, with his pants down.  And that was how he felt, pants around his ankles and thoroughly violated.  It wasn't the first time he'd lost a ship in combat.  It wasn't the first time crewmen have died.  It wasn't the first time... the love of his life had died.  He fought back the anger and tears that were trying to force their way out.   Fortunately his train of thought was interrupted.   "Captain...I'm Doctor Mackenzie and this is Counselor Rogers.  I know that you're in pain and I'll do everything I can to help your condition.  But first...our commanding officer needs to know anything he can about what happened to you and your crew."   "Pain?" Sash asked almost is if he had forgotten his own injuries.  The joy of genetic engineering.  "It's only a flesh wound," he joked, uncharacteristically, "I've had worse."    He turned his attention to the man by him.  ~This was their CO?  A lieutenant...junior grade?~  He hadn't realized things were that bad.  Then he realized what she meant.  They were to give his report to the CO.   "Well, I've already told your CO all that I can.  I have nothing left to add.  The Nausicans attacked with such precision and coordiantion, it's hard to believe it was them, until they boarded the ship.  They destroyed everything and everyone in their way.  But they never made it to the bridge or engineering... I think."    Then he shook his head.  "Anything is possible since our comm system went down, I didn't have any information except for internal sensors.  And when they went out, well, we just had no idea.  There were only three of us left alive on the bridge as it was.  And I wasn't really in much condition to put up a good fight.  At least I would have died in the effort.  Small favors.  So many deand.  So many dead."   Sash lay back and closed his eyes again, trying to gain control of himself again.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Holodeck 1/Sickbay-CMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-13:51)  ====================================     "Pain?"       Looking over at Captain Sash, she wasn't quite sure what he was getting at.  Raising an eyebrow, she listened as Captain Sash continued.       "It's only a flesh wound," he joked, uncharacteristically, "I've had worse."        Cocking her head to the side and back again, she shrugged slightly, knowing now what he meant. I think."        The last part of his statement made her uneasy.  He thought, he wasn't sure, if the Nausicans reached any critical systems of the ship or not.  Though the Nimitz had been boarded and that was bad enough, they really didn't need the threat of having any stolen technology on their hands to add to that.       "You...think?"  She asked, as she ran the tricorder over him, making sure his wounds were only 'flesh wounds.'       "Anything is possible since our comm system went down, I didn't have any information except for internal sensors.  And when they went out, well, we just had no idea.  There were only three of us left alive on the bridge as it was.  And I wasn't really in much condition to put up a good fight.  At least I would have died in the effort.  Small favors.  So many dead.  So many dead."       Watching as Sash relaxed and laid back on the biobed, she determined his wounds were in fact mostly flesh wounds.  However, looking over at Brian, she hoped there was something he would be able to do with the Captain's emotional state.        The three were silent for an uncomfortable moment before Kaitlyn piped up once more.  "Alright...let me fix your wounds, and Counselor Rogers is here if you need to talk to him," she said both quietly and sympathetically.   <>       Quickly grabbing a hypospray, she injected the Captain with a non-sedative form of a pain killer.  "This will help with any pain you're experiencing," she said as she then continued his treatment.  As she worked on the Captain's injuries, she then listened as Brian tried to comfort the man laying on the biobed.     ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1353) ==================================== Brian followed Kaitlyn over to Sash's biobed and let her introduce them. "Captain... I'm Doctor Mackenzie and this is Counselor Rogers. I know that you're in pain and I'll do everything I can to help your condition. But first...our commanding officer needs to know anything he can about what happened to you and your crew," she explained. "Pain?" Sash said. Brian's brain stood still has he tried to figure out what Sash was referring too, ~I'll have to check out his dossier later...~ Brian thought. Finally, Sash elaborated, "It's only a flesh wound. I've had worse," Brian nodded and wondered how accurate this Sash was to the real thing. He wondered if whoever programmed this simulation had used Captain Sash's psychological profile to create a 'realistic' Sash, or if he was just programmed this way. Sash continued, "Well, I've already told your CO all that I can. I have nothing left to add. The Nausicans attacked with such precision and coordination, it's hard to believe it was them, until they boarded the ship. They destroyed everything and everyone in their way. But they never made it to the bridge or engineering... I think." Brian made a mental note to inform Casely on the Bridge that their may be survivors in Engineering as well. Hopefully more survivors could fill in this puzzle of a simulation. So far, Sash had been little help, just providing a replay of what he had said on the bridge. But then Brian mentally scolded himself, ~You don't know what he's been through,~ "You...think?" Kaitlyn asked has she ran a tricorder over Sash. "Anything is possible since our comm system went down, I didn't have any information except for internal sensors. And when they went out, well, we just had no idea. There were only three of us left alive on the bridge as it was. And I wasn't really in much condition to put up a good fight. At least I would have died in the effort. Small favors. So many dead. So many dead." Kaitlyn then reached for a hypospray and said, "Alright...let me fix your wounds, and Counselor Rogers is here if you need to talk to him." She then injected Sash and informed him it was a pain killer. Brian cleared his throat, then stepped forward so Sash would have a good view of him. "Captain, when you were giving a report to Commander Casely, you seemed quite crestfallen when your reported that Darteena had been killed, was that someone important to you?" Brian would rather go in and start asking the important questions, but hopefully a little 'couch time' would help him relax and remember things. (reply Sash) "I see," Brian said in an understanding tone of voice, and nodding. After a moment he continued, "Captain, we need all the information you can remember about the Nausicans. Anything from the general design of the ship to their approach vector? Do you recall anything?" (reply Sash) "Do you think it would be safe for us to send over an away team? We could attempt to recover your ship's sensor data, or perhaps try to determine what the Nausicans were after on board the Nimitz," Brian asked.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay Simulation - Nimitz CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1354) ====================================   As the doctor went to work on his injuries she noted how much healing had already taken place.  Those injuries might have been more serious on a normal being.  But the Angosssians genetically engineered healing capacity could almost bring him back from death.  However, there was work she could do to speed the process up.   While she worked Rogers began to speak softly.  "Captain, when you were giving a report to Commander Casely, you seemed quite crestfallen when your reported that Darteena had been killed, was that someone important to you?"   Sash's eyes opened wide and then narrowed.  He wasn't sure if it was anger, frustration or just sorrow.  "Too many deaths," he said.  "Darteena Bixx was my Ops chief.  She was also... someone special."  He closed his eyes again making it clear he didn't want to discuss the matter further.   "I see," Rogers said. Then he continued, "Captain, we need all the information you can remember about the Nausicans. Anything from the general design of the ship to their approach vector? Do you recall anything?" "It all happened so fast," Sash replied, greatful to be thinking of something other than Bixx.  "The ships were basic Nausican vessels.  They weren't particularly enhance.  It was just that there were so many of them working together.  Although, they did come from nowhere, which gives me the impression that theymight have cloaking capability." "Do you think it would be safe for us to send over an away team?" Rogers asked.  "We could attempt to recover your ship's sensor data, or perhaps try to determine what the Nausicans were after on board the Nimitz." Sash laughed and then coughed.  "What they were after was to destroy my ship.  For all I know there might still be some there.  I really just don't know.  I mean, why would they just suddenly leave, with everything we had on board.  I know they're bloody thirsty bastards but this, this was beyond what even I thought that they were capable of."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Sickbay - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1404) ==================================== "It all happened so fast. The ships were basic Nausican vessels. They weren't particularly enhanced. It was just that there were so many of them working together. Although, they did come from nowhere, which gives me the impression that they might have cloaking capability," Sash explained to Brian. Brian nodded. ~I'll have to inform Paul of this later...~ he noted. "Do you think it would be safe for us to send over an away team?" Brian asked. I know they're bloody thirsty bastards but this, this was beyond what even I thought that they were capable of." Brian nodded carefully, trying to figure out where this simulation would go next. "Well, Captain, once you get... better, I'm sure that Commander Casely would like having your exper..." before he could finish, red lights began flashing and the annoying and familiar Klaxon began blaring. Brian started heading towards the door to report on what he learned to Casely.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1407) ====================================     Paul still waited to hear from his engineering officers if the Nimitz was salvagable. So far there had been no word. The marines who went aboard to secure the ship had radioed back that there appeared to be no sign of Nausicans on the disabled vessel. Scans by Doctor Engtamn-Jensi had confirmed that. ~What the heck were they after then?~ It made no sense. The Nausicans were a warlike species to be sure, but they generally didn't strike without an aim or without reason. Paul looked at the listing vessel. Soon he was going to have to decide whether or not it was safe enough to tow or to abandon it, triggering the self destruct as he went. Paul shook his head grimly.   =^=Sir, the last of the survivors are onboard.=^= came the voice of one of the security/marine team members.   "Excellent work. Radiation levels seem to be acceptable at the moment. Is there any power in any of the systems?" asked Paul.   =^=Some, but not much. We really need the assessment from Engineering.=^=   "As soon as I know, you'll know. Until then, hold your position. Casely out," said Paul closing communications.   Paul sat down and tried to consider exactly what he was going to do in terms of his log on this one. Then, everything went to hell.   [Proximity Alert! Proximity Alert! Vessels Approaching with active weapons.] intoned the voice of the computer. Paul sighed. When it rained it poured.   "Red Alert!" with that the Klaxons started sounding again and Paul called out, "Mute Klaxon on bridge." It would sound through the rest of the 'ship' but he didn't need the distraction right now.  "Mr. Chandler, please scan the ships and tell me what we're going to be facing. Helm, put us between the incoming ships and the Nimitz. Engineering, get our people back on board. I don't want them on the Nimitz during an attack. She'll just have to drift for a bit longer."  Paul knew the danger of having people on a disabled ship. He didn't really want to lose anyone and if running was the only option, well, Paul would have to take it.   (Reply Chandler, McLaren, Fredericks)   Paul opened communications with Sickbay, "Doctor Mackenzie, we seem to be having a bit of a problem. Make sure you secure your patients in case things get a bit bumpy."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – LT John Fredericks CEO/2O - 1408) ==================================== Commander Casely was growing impatient as he waited for the two engineers to finish their scans of the Nimitz John worked the console next to McLaren as they both scanned the hulk of the Nimitz. Other than high levels of radiation, engineering wasn’t in too bad of a shape as long as the plasma injectors were serviced sometime soon. The warp drive could be brought back on line in a few hours although impulse looked like it might take a bit more work. Weapons and shields were in working order, just drained. From what it looked like to him the ship had simply been overwhelmed. After the mains had been knocked off line they had been sitting ducks. There must have been several ships keeping a more or less continuous attack going to have drained the Nimitz’s power levels to the point they could only fire a hand full of torpedoes before having to divert everything to shields. “Sir” John said aloud, The Nimitz looks like she can be salvaged. But we will have to do something quickly about the Plasma injectors or we’ll lose her. Any one going over there will need radiation shielding and decon until we can repair and clean the engineering deck. From the data I can get from the sensors I think we can have her mobile in about 4 hours for low warp, maybe a day or so for impulse. I can’t get any more definite until I can get a look at her up close. Weapons systems and shields just need recharging”. John was about to go on but was suddenly cit off by the voice of the computer. [Proximity Alert! Proximity Alert! Vessels Approaching with active weapons ~Bait!!~ John thought to himself, ~That’s why they didn’t finish her off. He return full concentration to the job at hand, ensuring that the drives of the Boudicca were operating at 100% efficency and waiting to deliver that power to where ever Casley wanted it to go. “Sir, Engineering reporting full output from main and impulse drives”   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck One, Bridge Simulation, ATAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 1408) ====================================   Sam listened carefully as the security and marine teams that had 'beamed' to the 'Nimitz' reported about the situation to Commander Casely. Though, she knew it was a simulation, she still felt tense. She also kept her eyes on the tactical console in front of her that was giving readouts as to the tactical situation.   Suddenly, alarms started ringing throughout the bridge simulation and the tactical station's readouts showed a threat.   [Proximity Alert! Proximity Alert! Vessels Approaching with active weapons.]   "Red Alert!" Casely called out. "Ms. Chandler, please scan the ships and tell me what we're going to be facing. Helm, put us between the incoming ships and the Nimitz. Engineering, get our people back on board. I don't want them on the Nimitz during an attack. She'll just have to drift for a bit longer."   "Aye sir," Sam replied. Her hands were already dancing across the controls of the tactical station, scanning the approaching ships to figure out their threat level. What the scans revealed was not good.   "Sir, the approaching vessels are heavily armed and pretty well shielded as well," Sam reported to Commander Casely. "We may be in for a pretty big fight."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren - 1409) ==================================== “Sir” John said aloud, The Nimitz looks like she can be salvaged. "Sir, do you want me to go and coordinate things down in engineering. Someone will need to be down there if we get attacked?" Matthew   ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck 1, Bridge - COUNS - Lt. (JG) Brian Rogers - 1409) ==================================== Brian walked in from the turbolift and noticed that the klaxon was off here, most likely at Casely's request, who seemed to have an above-average hatred of the damned thing. Brian noticed that the Tactical and Engineering stations were a hot spot of activity has McLaren and Chandler, along with another Engineer that Brian hadn't met yet, were working feverishly. Brian returned to his seat on left side of the almighty center seat and sat and faced Casely. "Sash said that the Nausican ships seemed to be normal, with no special enhancements. He suspected they had cloaking technology, as well, but wasn't sure. He was..." Brian stopped and tried to be diplomatic about what he was going to say about Casely's old CO, "... a bit worked up after the loss of that Bixx person. He said that they had no noticeable intent when they boarded the Nimitz," Brian said, finishing his report.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – CEO2/O- LT John Fredericks - 1410) ==================================== Matthew looked up from his station. Sir, do you want me to go and coordinate things down in engineering. Someone will need to be down there if we get attacked?" “Yes”, replied Fredericks. “One of us will need to stay on top of things from there, remember it looks like engineering was the primary target on the Nimitz. If they cripple us we won’t stand any more chance than they did”   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - ACEO - LTJG Matthew McLaren - 1411) ==================================== “Yes”, replied Fredericks. “One of us will need to stay on top of things from there, remember it looks like engineering was the primary target on the Nimitz. If they cripple us we won’t stand any more chance than they did” Matthew looked down at the console realizing what he was volunteering to do. "Understood sir." He said simply and headed for the turbo lift.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1411) ====================================   Paul listed to the report from Ensign Chandler. This was hardly different than what he was expecting. He sighed. They were in no immediate danger, but he had no desire to destroy a ship holographic or otherwise.   "Mr. Chandler, be ready to fight, but plot escape vectors as well. Target the USS Nimitz with torpedoes. If we decide to run, I want her destroyed. No salvage for the Nausicans. What is the status of our weapons Mr. Chandler?" Paul asked.   (Reply Chandler)   Paul considered his options as Rogers arrived back on the bridge and sat to the left of him. Paul took this information in and nodded slowly. "Its hardly surprising he'd be worked up about Dartena. The two were involved in a relationship. I'm not sure how far it progressed after I left, but I would say they only became closer. At any rate, that is not my issue now. If they have a cloaking system it would be easy for them to attack a ship without cloak and run. We... have a cloak."   (Reply Rogers)   "Mr. Fredericks, get any last personnel off the Nimitz. Ensign Chandler, target the engines of the USS Nimitz and prepare to fire, then cloak right afterwards. Helm, plot a course for Outpost 7B and engage after we're cloaked," stated Paul. The plan wasn't pretty, nor was it simple. He only hoped that Sash would forgive him when the dust settled.   (Reply Fredericks, Chandler, Rogers)   He tapped the intercom button on his chair, "Doctor Mackenzie, batten down the hatches, its going to be a bumpy ride."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck One, Bridge Simulation, TAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 1412) ====================================   "Ms. Chandler, be ready to fight, but plot escape vectors as well. Target the USS Nimitz with torpedoes. If we decide to run, I want her destroyed. No salvage for the Nausicans. What is the status of our weapons Ms. Chandler?" Paul asked.   "Our weapons are opperational and ready to fire when necessary," Sam reported. She immediately went to work follow the other orders and targeted the Nimitz.   While she was getting the targeting sensors trained on the Nimitz, Rogers walked onto the bridge and spoke with Commander Casely. Sam continued her work, not really paying much attention to the conversation but keep an ear on it.   After Casely was done talking to Rogers, he turned to the others on the bridge, "Mr. Fredericks, get any last personnel off the Nimitz. Ensign Chandler, target the engines of the USS Nimitz and prepare to fire, then cloak right afterwards. Helm, plot a course for Outpost 7B and engage after we're cloaked."   "Aye sir," Sam said, her hands moving across the console, targeting the torpedoes on the engines of the Nimitz. Even if this was a simulation, she wasn't sure how she felt about destroying the Nimitz. "Torpedoes are locked on and ready to fire on your order, sir."    ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation – CEO/2O- Lt John Fredericks - 1412) ==================================== Mr. Fredericks, get any last personnel off the Nimitz. Ordered Commander Casely. “Aye, Sir” John replied. Tapping a few touch pads he reached transporter room one. “Transporter room, this is the bridge, get our people off now, we may be leaving soon and we don’t want anyone left behind.” “Boudicca to away team, Stand by for immediate withdrawal, we’ve got company” John sent the order wryly knowing the team wouldn’t like running any more than he did. ~They would probably like dieing even less though. He thought~. Tapping his comm. Badge he called McLaren, “Matthew, this is Fredericks, you might give the cloak a quick glance, we may be needing it shortly”.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca ---------- holodeck 1, engineering simulation - ACEO LTJG Matthew McLaren, 1415) ====================================   Matthew jogged into engineering and looked around. He hadn't been here before so didn't know where everything was exactly. But it didn't matter. The engineering staff down here would be able to help out if he needed it. He walked over to the master control table in the centre of the room and scanned the readouts. He began filing status reports to the bridge for John to see read over. The ship was more or less in perfect condition except for a slight power drop-off in the port nacelle which he quickly compensated for. No time to fix the problem at the moment. He addressed the crew as they worked. "Ok, we're in for a fight. We have multiple hostiles closing in on us. There is a possibility that we will be boarded and it is highly likely that they will target engineering as one of their main areas. You should all be carrying side arms so we shouldn't have a problem. We need to focus on the defensive systems; weapons, shields and engines. All secondary systems are to be taken offline like replicators and holodecks." He continued to hand out orders to the crew, assigning them tasks and then moved to a console to begin work of his own. "Engineering to bridge, its all go. You have all systems operating at peak efficiency." He said into the air.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1, Bridge Simulation - StratOps/3O - Lieutenant Commander Paul Casely - 1415) ====================================   Paul looked around at his non-holographic members of the bridge crew. They seemed uneasy about what he was about to do... what they were about to do. Well, except Fredericks who was experienced enough to understand the equation and what was at stake. Paul raised his voice so all on the bridge could hear.   "I know that some of you are concerned about the fact that we're going to destroy a ship of the line. However, I need you to understand something. We have our own crew on the Boudicca and 700 members of the Nimitz crew on board. Given the choice of saving the lives of over 1000 people and destroying a crippled ship that could give a technological advantage to an enemy, and possibly killing us all, I'd much rather lose the Nimitz. We have injured and grieving people on board. We're in no condition to stay and fight. One hit in any area with the way we're filled up could result in the death of hundreds of people. It may not be pretty, it may not be fair, but I believe its what's right. Now, Ensign Chandler, fire on the Nimitz, destroy her," stated Paul.   (Reply Chandler)   Paul nodded, "As soon as the Nimitz is destroyed, cloak us. Helm, bring us about hard, get us back to the space station." Paul watched as the fateful orders were carried out. A part of him shuddered as he watched the Nimitz die in flames. He shook his head slowly. He knew as soon as they were 'out of danger' the hologram would disappear and they'd be standing in a black room with yellow gridlines.    ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Holodeck One, Bridge Simulation, TAC/ASC Ensign Samantha Chandler - 1416) ====================================   "I know that some of you are concerned about the fact that we're going to destroy a ship of the line. She typed the command into the console and fired the torpedoes aimed at the Nimitz.   "As soon as the Nimitz is destroyed, cloak us. Helm, bring us about hard, get us back to the space station," Casely ordered.   As the torpedoes found their mark and the Nimitz was destroyed, Sam brought the cloak online. She knew this horrible simulation was almost over.   ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Outside Vicki's Quarters - Capt Sevant - 1940) ==================================== Sevant stepped into the door on the soft 'enter' and walked inside. He didn't quite know what to expect, he had only talked to Vicki in public places thus far, and never for long. The impulse to simply grab her and hold her always proved too strong, his emotions warred with his logic whenever he was around her. He still didn't know if she was his wife or if he wanted her to be his wife to replace the Vicki that was lost... but he knew the bond was there, something that should have been absolutely and utterly impossible. It was, in fact, unprecedented in Vulcan history. Sevant knew, he'd done the research. He'd had plenty long to research the subject, and he needed something to fight his impulse to see her. It was proving harder and harder every day, so he did his best with small-time communication in public. If course, he could never quite get over the logic of the situation... the question as to her status, and what she meant to him. ~What am I doing here.~ he mused as the door closed behind him. The quarters didn't really look lived in; there were no obvious personal effects. Not that it was surprising; Vicki had come on board with nothing but a small hand satchel. He was about to call for her when two arms slid around his side and clasped together over his stomach. A moment later a head very gently laid against his shoulder, Vicki only stood up to his chin. Sevant stiffened slightly but immediately relaxed. This posture was one of their oldest and most comfortable, she loved holding him from behind for some reason, it had always been one of her quirks. Familiarity, even after the long absence, was not easily put aside. Not when nearly every instinct he had was telling him this was real, natural and perfectly ok. ~But....~ He leaned his head back slightly and gently clasped his hands over hers, and for long moments did nothing, until he gave her hand a gentle tug... his old indication that he wanted her to switch sides. And just as he remembered, she slid around him until they were embracing. Without hesitation (or so it seemed), she laid her cheek on his chest. Sevant gingerly put his arms around her and, by pattern long ingrained, turned his head and placed his own cheek against the top of her head. Minutes passed without a word said, just gentle breathing and an almost unnoticeable rocking motion. After a while Sevant became aware of something new. She was bucking ever so slightly in his arms. It didn't take much to figure out what was going on, she was very quietly sobbing into his chest. His face crumpled for a moment, but he closed his eyes and ruthlessly clamped down on the emotions. He was raised a Vulcan, he would damn well control himself! Even though this woman had always been able to break his discipline... He kept his eyes closed and squeezed her a bit tighter, resolving to think of nothing right now, nothing but the smell of her and the gentle sounds she made, the feel of her arms around him. All the sensations he never thought he would experience again. A wild kaleidoscope of emotions whirled at him from the bond, confused, sad, hopeful and a myriad of others all at once. For of the few times in his life, Sevant made no attempt to shield himself. So much of what she was feeling echoed his own raging Vulcan passions, and he wasn't quite sure which emotions were all hers and which were all his. The meld, the marital bond, drew them together as nothing else could. After more long minutes she finally pulled away. Sevant quirked his head slightly and looked at her, her eyes were red-rimmed and her cheeks still wet. Without thinking about it, he reached up and ran a thumb gently under her eye to wipe away the tears. A small smile almost seemed to break her lips, but she quickly stifled it and pulled one arm away to place a hand on his chest. "Your heart sounds the same to Me, Caladryll Sevant." she said gently. "Everything about you..." She pulled her hand away. "But there are advantages to living on my own, I am -not- going to wash this." Sevant looked at her owl-eyed for long moments until after she had looked up at him, and then burst out laughing. The joke wasn't funny, but it struck him as absolutely delicious. Vicki joined in a moment later, and they laughed until both their sides hurt. And then, almost as quickly as it had begun, the laughter had turned to tears and they both held onto each other for dear life. He wasn't quite sure how it happened, but their faces met and her arms went around his neck as they embraced for the first kiss Caladryll had partaken in willingly since... the morning she had been murdered. It started slow, almost hesitant, but rapidly matured into something much more... passionate. Logic screamed in his ear one last time, but it was quickly ignored as the couples emotions mixed through the bond and became one... just as he always remembered it. She pulled him to the back, much like the first night they ever stayed together... Their lips never leaving... but Sevant ignored the nagging doubts in the back of his mind. They never broke contact, but he distinctly heard in the back of his mind ~never leave me again, please, I couldn't live through it, not again...~ That settled things, whatever resistance he might have been able to mount evaporated. Sevant didn't know what would happen; he didn't particularly care at this moment either. Even if it was only an illusion, it was the sweetest illusion he had ever known.
