Proceed." =^= Could you come down sir?=^= "On my way." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Science Labs - ACEO Enaj - 0120) ==================================== Saim walked into the science labs and over to the engineering team at the jefferies tube entrance. "What have you got for me Matthews?" "Here is the report so far. Also we found a very odd substance." "Not DDZ?" "No." "Show me" The crewman climbed into the jefferies tube and Saim followed after him. They crawled for only a couple of metres when Matthews stopped and turned round, looking down at the floor of the tube. "This sir" It took Saim for a few moments to see it. A smouldering pile of goo that smelt very strange. Saim pulled a tricorded out. "It's not anything that should be here sir." "I see that. In fact if I were making a guess I would say it looks like it may be a scrap of clothing, but that is completely far fetched. How could fabric survive this well." Saim looked back at the pool and thought perhaps that "well" was perhaps going to far. =^= Anyone from science, could you come and analyze something for me. If you could go to jefferies tube B654 I'll meet you there.=^= "Matthews. Collect this stuff up carefully and give it to me asap." Saying this Saim crawled back out. Seeing a science staff waiting expectantly Saim walked over. "Hi there. The sample will be out in a couple of minutes. When you have finished analysing it could you send me the results." As Saim was saying this Matthews came out and handed the sample over which Saim then duly handed to the scientist. ==================================== (USS Boudicca, Personal Quarters, MCO, Major Straton, 0451) ==================================== Eva was seated cross-legged on the floor meditating. Resting, conserving her strength for the battle that she knew would come. Either the assassin would kill her or she would kill them. There could be no other outcome. Victory or defeat. Life or death. She was content in that. Then she felt it, the attack. Even while meditating, Eva had kept tabs on the psycic 'chatter' of the ship. Eva had sensed the attack as soon as it started and tracked it. Every other time the assassin had struck from a distance. Far from their target. This time was different. The assassin had been very close to it's target at the time of the attack. Eva was on her feet in an instant and moving toward the door. She grabbed her marine issue side-arm on her way out and ran toward the turbo-lift. The assassin had just made a fatal error. As Eva entered the turbo-lift her comm-badge chirped. =/\=Sevant to Major Straton, there's been another attack near sickbay.=/\= "I know," Eva replied simply, closing the connection again. Not wanting to risk alerting the assassin that she was on her way. Eva exited the turbo-lift and moved carefully toward the scene of the attack. She could see security and medical personnel arriving on scene. Eva purposely stayed out of sight of the victim and the supposed witness. As she was questioned by Skylynx and Schafio. Eva passively scanned everyone in the immediate area. Not something the assassin would be able to detect. The Witnesses emotions did not match her actions. She was acting shocked, surprised, scared. Everything an innocent bystanders should be experiencing. Playing the part perfectly, but not perfectly enough to fool a trained empath. "I want you to get to sickbay and get a physical," Schafio said. "You think you're going alone, you got it dead wrong," Skylynx said. "Sirs? I'm just fine, but if you wish..." Eva turned and moved quickly and quietly back down the hallway. There were too many non-tellepaths in the area right now. Eva couldn't engage the assassin and ensure the safety of the security team and the medical team. She had her target, now she had to wait the perfect moment to attack. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Bridge - OPS Lt. Yalta Schafio - 0452) ==================================== Yalta wasn't too happy, not with the morning she has started with. Trying to find correlation between the attacks wasn't easy either, she could only transfer this knowledge to tactical and a bit more. Then a message came through. =/\=MEDICAL EMERGENCY, TURBOLIFT, AN ENGINEER, SHE JUST TOPPLED OVER FOR NO REASON! COMPUTER, EMERGENCY STOP, DECK 7 SICKBAY!=/\= “Schafio here... don't move an inch... I'm sending medical and security at your location.” She paused. “Medical, and security to turbolift 2, sickbay, deck 7.” (Reply from Skylynx or anyone) “Captain Sevant... there was another attack, deck 7... near sickbay.” (Reply from Sevant) Yalta got up and ran out of the bridge. She arrived at the same time as the medical team a bit out of breath. "There was no warning! She just... screamed, and then fell over!" Her attention focused on the officer in the turbolift beside the fallen engineer officer. Yalta look at her with attention, she turn to the security and arrive close to the officer that call. “Officer.... What is your name?” (Reply from the officer) “I want you to get to sickbay and get a physical.” ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Bridge - TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0452) ==================================== Ryko pored over the data Yalta had sent him. ~Two ensigns getting into a marine-class armoury?~ Ryko cursed the mere thought away as rubbish. ~There has to be someone else involved.~ His train of thought was suddenly broken by a blaring comm transmission. =/\=MEDICAL EMERGENCY, TURBOLIFT, AN ENGINEER, SHE JUST TOPPLED OVER FOR NO REASON! COMPUTER, EMERGENCY STOP, DECK 7 SICKBAY!=/\= Ryko didn't recognise the voice. He checked the TAC readout. It astonished him that only one faint lifesign was showing. ~Maybe the station's messing up,~ he thought as Yalta answered the call. He ran an analysis of the section again. The same. To be sure he scanned the tac station. There he was. ~Well that rules that out,~ he thought. ~Best go myself, take no chances.~ "Medical and security teams to turbolift 2, sickbay, deck 7." Ryko walked past Yalta's station. "No need to call, I'm taking this one," Ryko said. He tapped his badge. "Alpha team, resume to stated location, full cautionary gear!" he ordered. He knew this would raise a few questions but he didn't care. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Capt Sevant - 0452) ==================================== =/\=MEDICAL EMERGENCY, TURBOLIFT, AN ENGINEER, SHE JUST TOPPLED OVER FOR NO REASON! COMPUTER, EMERGENCY STOP, DECK 7 SICKBAY!=/\= "Schafio here... don't move an inch... I'm sending medical and security at your location." She paused. "Medical, and security to turbolift 2, sickbay, deck 7." (Reply from Skylynx or anyone) "Captain Sevant... there was another attack, deck 7... near sickbay." "Go, find out what's going on, quietly." The Captain said. His operations officer jumped and ran, her station was quickly taken over. Sevant, his face a mask, tapped his badge. "Sevant to Major Straton, there's been another attack near sickbay." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Jefferies Tubes between decks 12 & 13 - Major 'Spider' Drizzt - 0452) ==================================== Drizzt dropped from the lip of deck 12's access point and immediately dropped into a crouch. After a quick scan of the area told him he was alone, he pulled out his tricorder again and flipped it open. Drizzt and half the team was quietly searching the top half of the ship, while the second half of his team worked their way up from the bottom. Thus far, nothing had been found, though they still had a lot of space to look over. Drizzt himself was looking at some of the highest priority areas. After looking over the transporter that had blown, he had a good idea of how much substance had been used already, and how much was left in reserve. The answer worried him, there was still more then enough floating around to send the ship head-over-heels in pieces. He began crawling forward, quietly, scanning the major junctions with long-practiced sweeping motions of his arm. One of the reasons the Marines used detradydrazine was its lack of signature, unless you knew exactly what to look for, it was nearly invisible. Ships internal scanners wouldn't be able to pick it up without being programmed to look for its trace-signal. Drizzt had already had such a scan done, none had been found in the covered areas, but that left a lot of Jefferies tubes and engineering crawl-spaces to cover. The only problem, even with the altered tricorders, was that the range of detection was only a couple of meters. The Marines and Security searching for the substance would literally have to crawl every corridor to find it. His attention was drawn to the tricorder as it beeped. He stopped and continued the scan more intensively, finally settling on a junction of power conduits to the starboard side. As expected, the modified tricorder was having troubles picking up the exact location... but he had definitive traces of DDZ. He pulled out a small spray-vial and began spraying the bulkhead. It was a chemical marker compound, it bonded to the explosive. From his helmet, he could make out a faint blue glow wherever there was DDZ. By the time a minute had passed he had fully explored the area. "Oh d*mn," he said quietly as he leaned back against the opposite side and folded his hands together in thought. He was looking at the junction, it was fully coated in DDZ, there was perhaps a quarter-vial here with a small detonator that he had discovered hidden behind one of the EPS conduits. He couldn't simply remove the trigger; it would automatically detonate in that case. There was only two sure ways to neutralize detradydrazine, and exploding the stuff wasn't an option. That left option 2, which was more problematic. NRPG: More about that later. RPG: "MXO to bridge, I've found some of DDZ in..." He paused and looked around. "Junction 23N, just under the Security Center." Spider paused again in thought, "In fact, I'm right under the primary security armory." He looked at the stuff, still lightly glowing under the special filter of his Pallas Battle Helmet. "There is enough here to blow a sizable hole, even through the armor plating of the place, and therefore enough to send the weapons contained sky-high and destroy the ship." A couple seconds passed, =^=Can you disable it, Major?=^= The voice of the Captain sounded... almost angry. The Andorian's antenna twitched, he found the captain to be a continuing enigma for a Vulcan. "Aye Sir." Was his only response "Very well, inform the Security Chief, quietly. Bridge out." Spider took a breath and spoke quietly into his mic, opening a secure channel to the Security Chief. "Drizzt to Skylynx... are you clear to talk?" ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Outside Sickbay - The Shadow (Lieutenant Kerowyn McMasters) - 0454) ==================================== "There was no warning! She just... screamed, and then fell over!" She looked around wildly as Medical swarmed around the body. They would discover that the Engineer was unconscious, bleeding from burst arteries within the brain... though not particularly rehabilitated. The Shadow hadn't attacked hard enough for that to happen, though this engineer would be down for a good long while recuperating. "Officer.... What is your name?" The Shadow looked back at who had spoken and noticed it was the Chief of Operations, and then she looked back at the body. "Uh..." she said, feigning shock; "Lieutenant Kero McMasters, Sir. Shuttle-Deck Operations Officer, currently off-duty, I was heading back for my quarters." "I want you to get to sickbay and get a physical." "You think you're going alone, you got it dead wrong," said someone else, who she recognized as the Tactical Chief. The Shadow looked back up and her eyes narrowed slightly. "Sirs?" she finally said. "I'm just fine, but if you wish..." she didn't have to feign looking confused, but she would go along with it for now. ==================================== (USS Boudicca-Deck 7-TAC/SC-0456) ==================================== Ryko came around the corner with the security team at his heels. He saw Yalta leaning over the unconscious officer. "There was no warning! She just... screamed, and then fell over!" Yalta's attention focused on the officer in the turbolift beside the fallen engineer officer. Ryko looked at the person in the turbolift. ~I don't recognise that face,~ Ryko thought. ~And I've seen all of the crew's records.~ Yalta ordered whoever it was to sickbay. "You think you're going alone, you got it dead wrong," Ryko said. He told the rest of the team to stay with Yalta and help in whatever way they could, while he escorted the unknown officer to sickbay. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Sickbay- TAC/SC Ensign Skylynx - 0510) ==================================== Ryko watched as Kerowyn was examined. He had checked the ship's crew roster just to be perfectly sure. She had been there, no question. Ryko still felt a little uneasy considering he hadn't seen her before, but it wasn't important. His badge bleeped. =/\=Drizzt to Skylynx... are you clear to talk?=/\= came the quiet voice of the MXO. Ryko glanced around the sickbay. A room full of 20 people wasn't clear. He exited the sickbay and went into one of the labs adjacent. "Standby, Major," Ryko said. He went into the lab. "Computer, seal this room with a level 6 containment field. No one must know what is happening in here." [Containment field active.] Ryko tapped his badge. "Alright, Drizzt, what is it?" he asked. ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Junction 23N - Major 'Spider' Drizzt - 0511) ==================================== "Drizzt to Skylynx... are you clear to talk?" =^=Standby, Major,=^= Drizzt pulled out his black bag, something he had been carrying with him against just this contingency, and pulled out a couple tools and another molecular spray-bottle. =-^=Alright, Drizzt, what is it?=^= Spider took a moment, "I've found a good portion of the explosive, I need you to clear all decks around me for at least 300 feet in a sphere." He cracked his jaw, "Even if I fail, this stuff won't have full potency, but it will have enough to do some serious damage." ==================================== (Ceti Sigma IV, Kurgarian City, Motel Room, FO, Commander Grailik, 0520) ==================================== Grailik listened first to Domini then to Rin. He sighed, this really was not the best of times or places for this to be happening. He put his hands behind his back watching the two of them carefully, the trained observer. "First," Grailik said, pointing at Domini, "you will NEVER refer to another member of the crew as a 'spoiled brat', is that clear?" (Reply Domini IYW) He then looked at Rin. "Ensign, you need to learn to deal with these feelings of grief. You are not the only one who has lost loved ones. It does not excuse your actions on this away mission. The fact of the matter is you ARE a Star Fleet officer and you ARE a member of this away team. I NEED you to pull your self together. All of us need you Kyle. Focus on the here and now. We can work through your grief once we are back on the ship and this mission is over. If you don't pull yourself together we could all end up dead. Can you do that? Focus on the mission." (Reply Rin) ==================================== (Motel Room, FO, Commander Grailik, 0544) ==================================== Grailik was seated looking over the data they had collected as well as watching the 24 hour news channel. He and Lt. Munroe had been discussing aspects of the planets social development for the past several minuets. She seemed genuinely surprised at his level of expertise in the field. (Reply Munroe IYW) "We've got company." Melody said as she pulled her head away and let the curtain fall the half inch she had pulled it out. "One man has been standing outside by one of their motor transports for the last ten minutes. He has a bulge in his jacket pocket, and he keeps looking at our rooms, he also has a radio frequency communications device stuck in his ear." Grailik looked away from the TV his eyes going from Haverstaad to Fredericks. "Report," He said, simply standing up. He listened to what everyone had to say, considering their options. He pulled his 'pager' communicator out of his pocket when Haverstaad spoke up again. "There is another option if we act fast, Sir. The Boudicca replicated a lot of materials from this planet, including weapons. We could make a stand here hold off anyone that comes, if we have some of those weapons transferred to us. We could hold them off in a classic terrorist scenario for a day or more if we were really careful... and then, when we're ready to begin the bank job, we could simply beam out. That will cause a sensation, and in causing a sensation, we will turn attention away from the bank we are robbing... all the public eye will be on the debacle here. But sir, if we're going to go that route, we best move fast to get those weapons and set up." "I'd rather avoid a blood bath if I could Chief," Grailik said curtly, turning the volume of the TV up another notch or two to help cover the sound of their voices. He activated his communicator. "Grailik to Boudicca," He said, pointing for Fredericks and Haverstaad to take up defensive positions on either side of the room. (Reply Boudicca) "The jig is up. We've got local police force preparing to storm the rooms we are staying in. Hope you've got the transporters working again." ==================================== (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Capt Sevant - 0547) ==================================== =^=Grailik to Boudicca,=^= Sevant's head came up slightly, he gestured to operations to open the channel. "Boudicca here, Report Commander." =^=The jig is up. We've got local police force preparing to storm the rooms we are staying in. Hope you've got the transporters working again.=^= ~The jig?~ He ignored the innuendo as he folded his hands together and thought. The ship was not yet secure, but the transporters had been thoroughly looked over and Security was standing by near each working transporter unit. And at this point, there simply wasn't a choice. "Not to my satisfaction, Commander." He finally said. "If there is no other choice, we can beam you out, however. You are on sight, this is your decision to make, can you hold out there?" ==================================== (Motel Room - Motel Room - Senior Chief Melody Haverstaad - 0547) ==================================== "I'd rather avoid a blood bath if I could Chief," She nodded sharply as he turned up the TV. Just as he contacted the ship, he pointed to Fredricks and herself to take up defensive positions. Melody was already in one of the best corners she could be in, still able to look out the window, and she already had her phaser out... just in case. (reply: Fredricks) =^=Boudicca here, Report Commander.=^= "The jig is up. We've got local police force preparing to storm the rooms we are staying in. Hope you've got the transporters working again." Melody looked at her tricorder again, no movement. Apparently they were waiting for orders, or backup, or something along those lines. Whatever, they hadn't been contacted yet, but that didn't mean they would. If Meldoy was reading the paranoia of this society correctly, she doubted they were going to get a voice over a bull-horn saying 'surrender'. Which was a shame, they could have played for more time that way. She turned her ear just as the Captain said, =^=Not to my satisfaction, Commander. If there is no other choice, we can beam you out, however. You are on sight, this is your decision to make, can you hold out there?=^= Melody looked at her superior, Fredricks, and shrugged. They could hold out in current condition, but with phasers rather then weapons traditional to this area. ==================================== (Motel Room - Motel Room - Lt jg Trevan West - 0548) ==================================== Trevan over heard as the Captain said, =^=Not to my satisfaction, Commander. If there is no other choice, we can beam you out, however. You are on sight, this is your decision to make, can you hold out there?=^= Trevan piped up to the First Officer, "Sir, I believe we can. If we escape through the back area here and make a run for it. There is a bunker type house about 700 yards due east of here. I believe it is the control station for the 'bank'. It is unmanned and I can disable any sensing systems it may have. It's our only shot." Trevan waited for the reply. (Reply Grailik) "Well, frankly sir, we don't have much to lose. If we go back to the ship, we will be stuck here forever and die. If we stay here, we may have a chance to live. Your call, but I think our best bet is the bunker house." ==================================== (Ceti Sigma IV, Kurgarian City, Motel Room, FO, Commander Grailik, 0549) ==================================== =/\=...You are on sight, this is your decision to make, can you hold out there?=/\= "Sir, I believe we can. If we escape through the back area here and make a run for it. There is a bunker type house about 700 yards due east of here. I believe it is the control station for the 'bank'. It is unmanned and I can disable any sensing systems it may have. It's our only shot." Trevan waited for the reply. "I find the notion of an unmanned control bunker highly unlikely, Lt." Grailik said, matter-of-factly. "Well, frankly sir, we don't have much to lose. If we go back to the ship, we will be stuck here forever and die. If we stay here, we may have a chance to live. Your call, but I think our best bet is the bunker house," West replied. "Lt, this is the largest monetary depository on the planet. Do you honestly think they would leave the control bunker unmanned at ANY time? That is complete foolishness. As is your statement that if we return to the ship we will be trapped here to die. This away teams purpose was NOT to rob the bank but to gather intelligence for that purpose at a latter time with more than merely 7 people." Grailik turned his attention back to the still open comm-link to the Boudicca. "Captain, Ensign Fredericks has recommended using one of the shuttles transporters to beam us out of here. Doubtful the saboteur would of bothered sabotaging them. I would prefer to avoid a significant lose of life on either side. We can not hold current position without revealing our superior weaponry. Site to site transport to a remote deserted rural location outside of town till you are in a position to send the other teams down and we are ready to hit the target."
