There were damage control and rescue teams being dispatched to those ship areas that had sustained battle damage from the Furious’ photon torpedo attacks. For the moment the Rose was out of danger from further attack. ~Until we encountered the Furious again, in or out of the Mill. Or we finally catch up with the imposture Rose that framed us at the Bardon Mining Colony. I don’t look forward to running to either of these ships in the near future. We deliberately pulled our punches with the Furious, but Captain Saleke didn’t. The Furious’ lack of restraint allowed it to damage the Rose more than we damaged it. (I don’t expect Captain Saleke to use any restraint when we encounter him again.) As far as we know the counterfeit Rose has suffered no battle damage at all. We are pursuing the counterfeit Rose, while the Furious is pursuing us. Eventually, and unfortunately, we’ll be engaged in combat with one or the other of these two ships, with less than full structural integrity and a reduced crew capacity.~ Though she did not know what the tactical capacities of the imposture Rose were, V’Shera was more reluctant to face the Furious again. Primarily, because the Furious seemed to possess an unknown photon torpedo that could pass through the Rose’s defense shields. Inside her quarters V’Shera ate a quick meal, freshened up and then set about trying determining why some the Furious’ last PTs hadn’t been stopped by the Rose’s raised defense shields. V’Shera’s mind buzzed with a numbered of questions about what caused these PTs to ignore the Rose’s shields. ~(1) Could there be some sort of gravimetric properties in the Mill that allowed The Furious’ last PTs to ignore The Rose’s defense shields, (2) Was the Furious armed with new type PT designed to penetrate the Rose’s shields , (3) what was the technology behind the ghosting ability of the Furious’ last burst of TPs and, most importantly, (4) how could the Rose successfully protect itself against these ghost PTs~ [Working] After V’Shera fed these questions into ship’s main frame computer, some doubt assailed her. On the one hand, she was a tactical not a technical officer. On the other hand she was a smart tactical officer. As a tact officer a question involving ship weapons’ technology should be in the privy of V’Shera’s supposed expertise. So she should be able to comply with Captain Salid’s fact finding orders? Besides, the Rose was filled with forty excellent scientific and fifty gifted engineering officers that could be used to deal with the tech aspects that V’Shera couldn’t intellectually handle. Not only that, but V’Shera had the vast data base of all Star Fleet technology at her finger tips, via the Rose’s computer and its direct line to Memory Alpha. “Computer, code these questions under the File Name: Ghost Torpedoes. Make it File Accessible only to myself, Captain Salid, FO Josh Caskie, Lt T’Larah Sullivan and 30 Jon Nayati. Put all future file info into the personal pads of three officers listed. [Working] V’Shera was also buoyed up by Captain Salid’s confidence in her to solve a question that was, theorically, outside her realm of expertise. ~If Captain Salid thought me task capable, I should succeed in accomplishing it. Further more I’m a Vulcan. I have more spiritual, intellectual and physical resources to draw on than any other crew man that Captain Salid could have assigned to this task. I must not – I will not - fail him! ~ [Encoding completed] ~Then there was the whole promotion thing, ~V’Shera reminded herself, ruefully. ~The Academy was truthfully filled with hundreds of stories about young officers being advanced-in-grade via all kinds of battle field promotions; i.e. feats of strength, heroism, leadership, Tactical intelligence and scientific accomplishment, etc. This seemed to happening with I and my Captain right now. I don’t think that Captain Salid assigned me the torpedo task because he’s testing me for possible promotion, but he assigned it to me none the less. Whatever his reasons, it wouldn’t do to disappoint him. There far too many lives dependent on my efforts, should I fail.~ (Reply None) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Hallway- ACMO- Esn Kimiko Ichijo -Day 2 – 2059) ~dorsal~ Kimiko thought, "ummm... we are heading toward the starboard side right?" The ensign just shook her head and continued to head quickly toward the damaged areas. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 2 - 2100.75) Tom was a bit dented but as far as he could tell not too much worse for the beating the ship had just been through. Kitty Fisher came over and asked him "Tom. Sorry to stop you. Just let me please have a look at that cut." Tom smiled at Kitty -"sure thing always glad to see such a pretty angel of mercy" Tom told her chuckling a bit. (reply: Kitty) Kitty had blushed a bit at his comment and continued her instructions ""It's OK. Nothing serious. I'll just clean it up and close it and you will be as good as new." Kitty sterilized the wound and used a regenerator to close it. Smiling at Tom, she nodded her head to signifying that she was done. "That's you, but you know the usual spiel about head wounds. Any strange symptoms, you need to come down to Sickbay and tell us OK." Tom smiled and said "I'll report anything odd - promise". "Beside, we Jackson's have pretty hard heads!" he added and laughed again. he enjoyed Kitty's company. As she left Tom called out "Thanks Kitty". and returned to duty. Things were happening quickly and despite her feelings of complete and total inadequacy with the situation, she felt that the panic was at least moderately controllable. The doors to the bay opened and Aleesa turned to see the third officer stroll into the bay. Jon Nayati looked around the bay for a moment before heading her way. "CMO Wyler, Captain Salid ordered me to give you medical assistance. I've been trained as a field medic. I have psychic abilities' to see the auras of the wounded and provide diagnostic assistance. While I can't heal telepathically, I can use that gift to deaden the pain of a few of the most gravely injured. There were even two occasions where I used telepathy to restore comatose patients back to consciousness." Aleesa couldn't help but put a look of surprise on her face. If everything that the Counselor said was true, he'd be a wonderful addition to the medical team in such an emergency. "That's certainly a lot." she replied still surprised. Jon must have thought that she was disbelieving of his abilities because his answer seemed a little defensive to her. "I'm not bragging, in the least, Sir." he replied. She shook her head. "I didn't mean to imply that you were, sir. I only meant that you have a lot to contribute." ~unlike some of us~ she thought as a form of self-evaluation. (reply Nayati) "If you're a trained field medic, I could use your help on the Beta Trauma team. There's been a decompression in Main Engineering and they have casualties that need proper triage and medical aid. Can you help out there?" (reply Nayati) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Sickbay – 30/CCOUNS Lt. There were even two occasions where I used telepathy to restore comatose patients back to consciousness." As he finished speaking, Jon noticed the look of surprise on Doctor Wyler’s caring face. In Aleesa's aura Jon saw relief as well as continuing surprise. ~She’s probably happy for all the medical help she can get at this time of crisis,~ Jon thought to the Great Spirit.. "That's certainly a lot." Dr. Wyler replied, her voice still showing traces of surprise on her part. "I'm not bragging, in the least, Sir." Jon said. ~I hope haven’t blown my own too much, Great Spirit. I hate it when I do that, but it’s so hard to tell total strangers what I can do in causal conversation. But sometimes I feel like I’m too talkative in emergencies, like the one right now.~ Dr. Wyler shook her head and said; "I didn't mean to imply that you were, sir. I only meant that you have a lot to contribute." As she spoke, Jon saw Dr. Wyler’s aura cloud momentarily with some feeling of either self-doubt, guilt or recrimination. ::Unlike some -:: A half snippet of Dr.Wyler’s thoughts got through a momentary lapse in Jon’s mental shields. Jon slammed his mental shielding down hard. It embarrassed Jon when he inadvertently caught the distraught thought leakage from those in close proximity to him. The fact that he had caught Dr. Wyler’s thought leakage indicated just how strong of her current cognitive distress was. “This is trying time for us all, Doctor. Especially when we’re in charge and so many lives are dependent on our decisions.” (Reply CMO Aleesa Wyler) “But we just don’t bring our emotions into times of crisis. We also bring who we are as competent, skilled professionals into these times of stress as well. And that latter person is the one can we can trust ourselves to be now, Doctor.” Jon kept his breathing and speech slow and calm as he spoke to CMO Wyler. Jon’s use of the word predicament, rather than disaster or catastrophe, to hopefully reduce the emotional impact of the dead and chaos that was going on around Dr.Wyler in the now moment. ~If panic could be spread by excitement and a loud, frantic voice, sometimes calmness and order could be spread by a slow, low and quiet, controlled voice. CMO Wyler is worthy healer and wise officer, Great Spirit, remind her of that now!~ (Reply CMO Wyler, IYW) If you're a trained field medic,” CMO Wyler said,” I could use your help on the Beta Trauma Team. There's been a decompression in Main Engineering and they have casualties that need proper triage and medical aid. "I'm going to begin with a wide spectrum analysis of our two mystery torpedoes compared to the spectrum analysis of the other photon devices fired at us. I'm hoping that such an analysis give us an idea of how they passed trough our defense shields." "Sounds good ensign, keep me apprised of what you discover. I want to be ready for the next time we encounter the Furious." Ahmed replied. "Permission to leave the bridge, Sir." V'Shera added. "Granted ensign." The captain replied then went back to his display. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Hallway- ACMO- Esn Kimiko Ichijo -Day 2 – 2106) They came to a set of sealed doors. "I believe that our client is beyond that room." Kimiko motioned towards the doors "Ma'am, that room is unsecured. It appears that the room is open to space and would be unwise to go though there." the same chief pointed out. Kimiko glanced at the man. "Henderson, are the fields in place?" after watching the chief nod reluctantly "Then it is hardly unsecure and I promise not to spend any longer in the room then absolutely needed" Kimiko smiled and winked at the chief and turned back towards the door. "Computer please open door, medical override" The door slid open and revealed a starscape flowing past though a large rent in the bulkhead, the doctor toyed with the idea of leaving the room (and this very disconcerting sight), but decided against it. The medical team hustled across the remains of the room. Kimiko saw a smear of blood that lead out of the room and hurried towards the door on the other side. The door slid open, she saw a man in a gold uniform unconscious on the floor with blood seeping out of a laceration on his leg. She could see that there were other injuries in the compartment. “Okay ladies and gentleman, this is what we get paid for. Let me know before you transport.” (Reply any) Kimiko headed towards the injured crewmen. She kneels down beside him and examines him, the gash on the thigh and his blood loss indicates a cut femoral artery, not knowing how long the leg was bound, the doctor loosens the makeshift tourniquet and immediately places a pressure cuff on the leg. The ensign tapes her com “Ichijo to sickbay” (Reply Sickbay) “I’m in a compartment twelve, deck seven with approximately dozen injuries and I am sending the first, human male with femoral injury with severe loss of blood.” (Reply Sickbay, any) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Bridge- CO, Captain Saleke - Day 2 -2113) Before Saleke stepped through the doors a report from Lt. Matrix stopped him. "Captain, I need to be in engineering. The antimatter mix is out of alignment. I think we got shaken up a bit down there." Turning his head he nodded. "Call in a replacement and attend to it Lieutenant, report to me when that is completed." The engineer complied and was leaving as Saleke turned once again and stepped through the door which closed behind him. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Bridge- CTSO, Ensign Andrus Williams - Day 2 -2114) Andrus had not had much combat experience. The recent round with the Rosenante had convinced him he'd better spend some more time in simulations when things settled done! Captain Saleke messaged the bridge from his Ready Room. Andrus punched up a reply "Bridge here Captain - Ensign Andrus speaking" he replied. The Vulcan commander replied with "Dispatch a subspace beacon with the following message to starfleet command. "From Captain Saleke to starfleet command, the Furious has engaged the Rosenante and subspace communications have been lost, repairs are underway but will take time to complete, I will report again when able. The Rosenante has sustained significant but undetermined damage to this point and escaped the system under warp, course is currently to Hexicor Prime with the Furious in pursuit. Captain Salid has proclaimed innocence in the destruction of the mining colony but am unable to substantiate those claims at this time. Scans of the colony showed catastrophic damage and minimal power with no life signs. No communications have been received as of yet. Stop." "Understood Captain Andrus Out" and the Bolian closed the channel. Andrus Williams worked quickly with the OPS staff to comply with the Captain's instructions. OPS let Andrus know they were set and he launched the probe. He found himself crossing his fingers mentally. It was a habit he had picked up from his human roommate at SF Academy. Captain Saleke entered the bridge and took his place in the center seat. Andrus saw Lt MAtrix move to the Captain and speak quietly. The two left the bridge and re-entered the Ready Room. Lt Matrix struck Andrus as a serious and competent officer. Matrix's demeanor looked quite serious. (reply: Any on Bridge) (posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Ready Room- CO, Captain Saleke - Day 2 -2115) Crossing to his desk the vulcan sat down and keyed up the damage control reports, he would monitor them from here. The shields were weakened but regenerating and there was minimal damage to the ships' hull from the encounter. The loss of the communications array was more troubling. Contact with Starfleet command had been lost and the Furious was now limited to ship-to-ship communications only. The use of the shockwave torpedoes by the Rosenante had forced him to alter course and had given the Rose unfettered access to the asteroid field as well as a head-start into warp, the tactic had been an unqualified success. The actions of captain Salid had been conflicting to this point as well as illogical giving him little ability to make a full judgement as to guilt or innocence, the possibility that Salid had been correct in proclaiming innocence was troubling but until he had more information he had little choice but to continue on his present course. He noted as well that commander Sloane had been busy in his absence, the data relay was in the early stages of retrieval from the mining colony. On that vein he tapped the com button. "Bridge this is the captain." (Reply: Any) "Dispatch a subspace beacon with the following message to starfleet command. (Reply: Any) That step completed he keyed up a subscreen on the crew manifest, something he had noted from two days ago had come to his mind and he decided to confirm it before continuing the line of investigation. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - CMO- Lieutenant Aleesa Wyler -Day 2 - 2116) "Oh I hardly think we need to go that far. This is you first Red Alert, I understand that. It's never easy but for me to take over now would be the wrong thing to do. This is your Sickbay, your staff are waiting for your orders not mine. I might just mumble some advice in your ear in passing, but you will be the one giving the orders ok?" Caskie replied. Aleesa nodded. "Okay fair enough. God knows I need all the help I can get right now." Josh grinned. "Ok, first mumble. EMH - Secondary Sickbay. Send him there now." Again Aleesa nodded, still feeling a little bit like a medical intern on her first training simulation. She had completely forgotten about the EMH, since they didn't have one on Geneva Station because of the sheer number of medical personnel there. "Computer activate the EMH in the Secondary sickbay." [EMH program now activated in secondary sickbay.] the computer replied. "Right. Second mumble." Caskie continued, " The queue outside the door has not been triaged since all the triage personnel are busy. You should not be treating simple lacerations when someone else in the queue is more seriously injured. If you don't have any objection I will start triaging the patients outside with tags. Black tag is a simple don't bother, they are too far gone and only need pain medication. Red is priority, life threatening but treatable. Yellow is the next priority . They need to be treated but not immediately and green is simple injuries that can be treated last." "If you have no objections to that I will go get the tags now and start on the queue." Again like a bobble-headed doctor, Aleesa nodded. "Doctor Caskie, please see to triaging the personnel in the treatment cue." she said loud enough for others to hear, hoping that she had phrased her command properly enough to get the point across without looking like a complete idiot. (reply Nayati, Caskie) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - FO - Cmdr Josh Caskie -Day 2 - 2117) "Doctor Caskie, please see to triaging the personnel in the treatment queue." Josh grinned. "Certainly Doctor Wyler." Dropping her voice to a whisper she stood beside Wyler and spoke again. "See, it's easy. You just need to keep the big picture in your head, is all." Moving away she picked up a bundle of triage tags and working her way down the queue began assigning them to patients. This was not something that Josh had done since she was the ACMO on the Boudicca and she found it somewhat satisfactory being back in Sickbay and being of use. With the channel closed, Ahmed resumed his reports reading and order issuance, certain that V'Shera would get to the bottom of the mystery. As an aside, He decided to rectify the data flow issue. He could at least re-establish data accessibility with Starfleet and memory Alpha without any problem. He pulled up the data transfer protocols and using his Omega clearance codes, he told the Starfleet command data base and memory alpha that the ability to recover data from the system was critical to resolving an omega incident. He was not surprised to see that the data flow was restored instantly. He then told the data transfer protocols to hide the fact that the Rosenante was once again dialed into the network. He also prioritized that data under the omega directive. Smiling at the knowledge that his ship was no longer cut off from the Federation data network he dropped a quick message to V'Shera to let her know that the link to the Federation databases was now re-established. It was interesting the difference civilian and Starfleet patients, while most people didn’t enjoy being sick or injured, it seemed that more militant ones got downright combative. ~I guess it figures~ Kimiko thought. She returned the glare leveled at her by a Klingon engineer that towered over her. “Yes Chief, I am very much aware that your broken arm doesn’t hinder your performance, nor does it hurt very much, and yes, I noticed the gaping hole in the side of the ship as I was passing though. However it seems that the fields have said hole in hand…” The Ensign raised her finger and cut in as the engineer gathered a deep breath. “ and you are injured, which means that you are in my reasonability. So are you going to report to Sickbay two or do you need a medical transport” The Klingon mumbled something. “I’m sorry Chief, I didn’t quite catch that” “I said that I would report to sickbay….Sir” “Directly?” Kimiko queried “Yes, Sir” Kimiko sighed as she watched the Klingon leave the room, she wasn’t sure what she would have done if he refused, she immediately got the mental image of her frog-marching the engineer to sick bay. Kimiko smiled to herself ~not going to happen~ Kimiko looked around and saw that the last casualty fade away as the transporter whisked the prone form away. Kimiko addressed the group. “We don’t have any more major injuries outside of sickbay, however as the chief so aptly displayed, we may have a few walking wounded wondering about, so I would like the group to disperse and find them. Thank you all, great job” (Reply none) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Personal Quarters – ATAC Ensign V’Shera – 2133.5) V”Shera had just reported the preliminary research and ideas she had fed into the computer to Captain Salid. His response to her idea to run a series of scans on the ghost torpedoes and where they had hit was most gratifying. It showed V’Shera that Captain Salid had real confidence in her ability to solve the riddle that he assigned her. =^=You might see if you can find any signs of phasic energy on any of those fragments. Maybe they managed to phase the torpedoes in some manner. If so, there should be some phase variance instability on the fragments that remain behind. I also suspect that the warhead yields were significantly lower than normal. Even with the advanced space frame design, those torpedoes should have destroyed us completely if they had been sporting a full yield warhead. See if you can verify that data,=^= the Captain said. Taking her cue from her orders, V’Shera replied at once. ~That is good to hear. It almost seems that he is as knowledgeable I am about weapons technology. That’s understandable, of course, since he is the CO.~ "Sir, I'm going to contact those in charge of the damage control areas where the ghost torpedoes detonated. Hopefully there will be residual energy signatures that will give us a clue as to what the exact nature of these weapons." =^=That is an excellent idea Ensign.=^= Captain Salid agreed. After speaking to the Captain, she encoded all forthcoming research data and then signed off. Immediately she passed down Captain Salid’s orders to the damage control leaders she had talked to earlier. After they acknowledged their agreement, V’Shera continued to work collating all incoming data. ~There is a solution out there, and we must find it quickly before time runs out.~ (Reply, none necessary) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Bridge- CO, Captain Saleke - Day 2 - 2145) Saleke had just emerged from the Ready Room and was watching the proceedings when the turbolift door opened behind him, turning he noted that the engineer in question was stepping out, Lt. "Sir, I need to speak with you privately please," With a lifted eyebrow at the mans manner he nodded and moved once again to the captains' chamber. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Furious - Ready Room- CO, Captain Saleke - Day 2 - 2147) As he neared the desk Lt. Matrix spoke behind him. "Computer, secure room." [Acknolwedged] Saleke spun into a fighting crouch, preparing himself for a possible attack, the information he had gleaned from the mans file had been illuminating. Matrix opened a tool case as the vulcan prepared his muscles to pounce if necessary, it was not a phaser that the engineer pulled from the case however. "Sir, I found this attached to the intermix chamber...its a micro-explosive...enough to punch a hole in the warp intermix chamber and destroy the ship." Saleke relaxed his muscles as he noted what the man held in his hand though he didn't relax his guard completely as he held a very dangerous object. After studying Matrix for an instant he moved the five steps to the back of the desk and took his seat carefully. "I presume then that it is disarmed." (Reply: Lt. Matrix) Motioning the man over he took the object and studied it intently, the Anelurian crystal throwing off sparks of reflected light as he did so. "Have you checked the explosive for a a signaling device designed to warn the saboteur of its removal?" (Reply: Lt. Matrix ) "Please do so." He waited as the man pulled the scanner from his case and examined it thoroughly. This was conclusive evidence coupled with the lack of malfunction of transporter room three's components that the former Captains death or disappearance had not been accidental. It was obvious now that the saboteur or saboteurs were still on board the ship. (Reply: Matrix.) A dumb explosive then, one that had been designed to send no signal so as to be unobtrusive and hard to find, activated only on the command of whoever held its control. "Thank you Lieutenant, you may dispose of it as you see fit. It was wise to speak to me directly and I trust you will maintain your silence on the subject." He handed it back to the engineer. "There was something else which I wish to speak with you about." [Acknolwedged] The Captain’s posture didn’t go unnoticed. He would have been tense too, not knowing what was inside the case. Nor the intent of the junior officer securing the room. It was an unusual move, but Matrix thought it was necessary to ensure that no one but the Captain knew about the device. "Sir, I found this attached to the intermix chamber...its a micro-explosive...enough to punch a hole in the warp intermix chamber and destroy the ship." The Captain paused after reviewing the item, "I presume then that it is disarmed." “Aye Sir, I disarmed it prior to bringing it up to the bridge.” replied Matrix. The Captain took the device from Matrix and looked at in intently, "Have you checked the explosive for a signaling device designed to warn the saboteur of its removal?" “No Sir, I have not.” responded Matrix. "Please do so." commanded the Captain. Matrix took out a scanner and proceeded to scan the item. After a few moments the results were visible on the readout. It was clearly visible to the Captain, but Matrix felt compelled to complete the results. “Nothing sir, no signs of a signaling device or any known kind.” said Matrix. "Thank you Lieutenant, you may dispose of it as you see fit. It was wise to speak to me directly and I trust you will maintain your silence on the subject." He handed it back to the engineer. "There was something else which I wish to speak with you about." “Of course Captain.” replied Matrix. (Reply Saleke) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Main Engineering - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 2 - 2215) Once the full damage report had been delivered to both the Captain and Lt. Morrow, Mitena requested a relief officer for her station and headed to main engineering. From the looks of things there was much work that needed to be done and her preference was to be in the thick of it and not stuck on the bridge manning the engineering station. Main engineering looked somewhat better then she'd pictured it in her mind from the readouts on the Bridge. Though there was no discounting the hull breach. Reflectively she considered the fact that when she came aboard the Rosenante it had needed so much work that it was stuck in dock for what felt like ages. ~The ship has definitely seen worse.~ She tried to not think about the crew members that had been in that section of engineering when the breach happened. Purposefully, she didn't do a head count or ask which individuals wouldn't be able to be assigned to particular duties. The situation wouldn't be any better served by spending time mourning over the lost crewmates. There would be time enough for that after the repairs were underway. She headed to her normal duty station and checked to see if the damage control teams had made any new updates. Remembering the orders that were given, she sent an updated status report to Lt. Jackson and made a notation that he was to be included on all status updates going forward. "Rixx to Damage Control Team 3" =/\=Crewman Winters here, Sir.=/\= "Crewman, how does the Environmental subsystem look? What is your estimate on its repair?" Mitena asked. The team hadn't checked in with their status since the initial assessment and she was concerned that they had ran into problems or perhaps someone had been injured. =/\=As suspected, the problem was in the junction relay. Not a typical failure, however. A piece of the substructure sheared off and has pierced through the back of the relay. It's still making most connections, but obviously not the way the engineering diagram intended.=/\= Winters replied. "Are there any signs of hull breach?" She noted down everything the engineer had said. =/\=Not that we can tell. As for our ETA on repair, we were just considering our options. Current consensus is to run a bypass to the system until we can shut down the power and pull the relay completely.=/\= "A bypass is a good working solution. As long as we don't leave it on the bypass for long. After all, it runs thru that relay for a reason. Have your team go ahead with the bypass. I'll have an team come in and replace the relay and evaluate the structural damage. Once you have that complete, check back in and head down to deck 9 and look into why the lifeboats aren't responding." =/\=Last update said that... I thought that Team 5 was on that. Are they ok?=/\= The crewman said, Mitena could hear concern in her voice that seemed to be more than just curiosity and wondered who on the Team 5 the crewman was concerned about. "They were, but I had to reassign them to help with fire suppression in one of the science research labs. They should be fine." Mitena added, trying to be reassuring. =/\=Oh, ok. We'll update as soon as we are done with the bypass.=/\= "Thank you. Rixx out" Once the report was updated she scanned the flurry of activity for Lt. Morrow. She didn't see him at first, but as a team of engineers headed off she spotted him reviewing a PADD. Picking up her own, she headed in his direction. "Lt. Morrow." She said catching his attention, "Here's the latest report from the damage control teams. Is there a team to spare to replace a junction relay?" Mitena offered the PADD. (reply Morrow) "I'll get them assigned. Also, I think that we need to begin a full structural survey and analysis. I'd be happy to start working on the project. Unless you'd rather I join one of the teams and work on the repairs." She said with a slight smile. It was a busy time, but there was no reason not to make the best of the situation and do the best she could to help. (reply Morrow) (Posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Main Engineering - CEO - Lieutenant Alimi Morrow - Day 2 - 2218) Alimi was busy up to his eyeballs, no correction past his eyeballs. Those same sensory organs were currently trying to make heads or tails of the current engineering crew rosters. He'd lost a few good engineers, people who would be missed sorely. Some specialists that would have been very helpful if they were still around to lend a hand. He shook his head as he reorganized one of the duty rosters, trying to make the best of a bad situation like this wasn't always such an easy thing to do. His thoughts were interrupted by Ensign Rixx. "Lt. Morrow." She said catching his attention, "Here's the latest report from the damage control teams. Is there a team to spare to replace a junction relay?" Mitena offered the PADD. Alimi locked the keys on the PADD he had been working on and dropped it into the pocket of his work uniform. He then took the report from Rixx and scanned through it. There was an almost imperceptible sigh of relief as he came to realize that the damage wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. "I'll put T'Kron's team on it." he said finally, " They're not really a spare team, but they're at full operating strength so they should be able to handle the job well enough." "I'll get them assigned. Also, I think that we need to begin a full structural survey and analysis. I'd be happy to start working on the project. Unless you'd rather I join one of the teams and work on the repairs." She said with a slight smile. The fact that she could smile at a time like this was a testament to the indomitable goodness of Bolians everywhere. "I think that's a great idea. I need you to focus on patching the breach in Main Engineering as your primary focus. Once you've started the work there with a team, you can survey the rest of the ship's structure." Alimi replied. Then the bad news, "We lost two of our structural engineers in the attack. You'll be working with a reduced team. He tapped out their names on her PADD then handed it back to her. "These are the personnel that we lost." (reply Rixx) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Main Engineering - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx -Day 2 - 2220) ~2 short~ Mitena frowned slightly at the news. She took the PADD back and scrolled thru the short list of names. She knew each of the individuals on the list and their conversation and skills would be missed. Her heart was heavy at the loss. "I'm sure the team will do the best job they can do, Sir." She said with a quick nod. She turned and headed back to her console to make the necessary assignments. No sooner than she was walking away she could see other officers bringing the Lieutenant yet more reports to review. They were all in for one very long shift. Once she was able to locate everyone that she could utilize for the team, she briefed them on what their goals would be. A review of every inertial dampener would be necessary as well as stress capacity testing. Of course, that would have to be after the hull breaches were taken care of. Starting with Main Engineering. A quick survey of the team indicated that at least 3 were very proficient with the use of the work bees and the transmolecular bonder that would be needed to patch and seal the hull. Between the team they discussed how long it would take to complete the initial hull breach closures and order things needed to be done in order to make the repair go as smoothly as possible. Mitena didn't bother asking the Lieutenant what time frame that he wanted the repairs done by and none of the team inquired either. The only answer there could be in a situation such as this would be 'as soon as possible'. She and Ensign Benoit had been cooped up in the small vessel for longer than she would have liked. And even her Bolian good humor was beginning to fray from time to time. It wasn't that Benoit wasn't polite, charming or even pleasant. It was the sole fact that several days had passed with the newly minted ensing playing an archaic musical device that he called a banjo. At first it had been pleasant, the music was different and interesting, but after six days of near continuous plucking of resonating strings, only broken by the occassional press of a button or sleep cycle, even the starnge harmonies were beginning to grate on her nerves. That's why she was sitting in the cockpit and had been for the last several hours. The focus of monitoring the navigational displays and other ship's systems was enough to help her drown out the music that had recently playing in the utility area. A small chime sounded on her console and Abis smiled to see that they were within a few minute of arriving at the Hexikor Alpha facility. While not as glorious as a starship posting, the facility was renowned for their advanced computer research facilities. Her own specialty of biomolecular computing had guaranteed her a posting here. She had been told that Banjo, the nickname of the man tagging along was to make a two week study of some paratrinic shield that was being developed by the Bynars there, before catching a transfer on a later starship to the USS Rosenante. Now that was a ship to be assigned to. While not the flagship of the fleet, she was most assuredly the most sophisticated and advanced of all the ships that served. To be assigned to her staright out of the academy was considered a lucky break by most cadets. "Nath... I mean Banjo!" Abis called back into the common area. "We're approaching Hexikor Alpha. You may want to stow your instrument..." ~please~ "...and take the co-pilot's station for landing." (Reply Nathan) As the ensign stowed his personal belongings, Abis looked out through the viewscreen to regard the ever expanding visual of the binary artificial satellites, Hexikor Prime and Hexikor Alpha. Both were perfectly spherical, although Prime was 5-kilometers in diameter while Alpha was only 2. The two orbitted a dim white dwarf star several million miles away. As Benoit made his way into the cockpit, Abis activated the comm to hail the hexikor landing control. "Hexikor landing control, this is runabout Tanzania. Lieutenant Abis speaking. We are requesting permission to land." There was a monet of silence before landing control replied. =^=Runabout Tanzania, welcome to Hexikor. Altering course now." =^= Control out.=^= Abis was smiling as the runabout adjusted course to bring them into the correct landing vector. "hard to believe that we're finally here." she said, all disagreement about the constant music long forgotten. "And you, have no idea how lucky you are, spending a week here studying advanced field dynamics theory and then being ferried over to the most advanced starship in the fleet. You must be even more excited than I am." He turned and looked at the Lieutenant out of the corner of his eye. He had thought he might have over done it with the banjo playing these past few days, but she seemed to enjoy it so much, he hated to stop. Ensign (Jg) Nathan Benoit --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Runabout Tanzania, Cockpit, SciO Lieutenant Abis- Day 5- 0912) The Tanzania made a broad sweeping port-side bank to align it with the station's shuttle bay doors. The familiar Starfleet markers were absent since this facility did not belong t the fleet, but was a sovereign protectorate of the UFP instead. It was closer to living on a planet than a starship, she had been told, although it was apparent that it was an artificial planet and therefore perhaps more likely to remind her of a star base rather than a planet. The ship shuddered slightly as the station's landing tractor beams engaged and took over the flight controls for the Tanzania. The runabout slowed considerably as the massive hanger doors slid open at a snail's pace. The image of dozens of shuttlecrafts and runabouts parked on various landing pads was more than she had seen since departing the academy grounds several days prior and the bay itself was larger than any other she had seen short of the interior port of star base 1. A slow rotation of the runabout , brought her nose back into alignment with the main hanger doors, which began their slow crawl back towards the closed position. A slight hum that reverberated off the runabout's hull indicated that they had just passed through the hanger bay's atmospheric retention field. A few moments later the runabout Tanzania was sitting on the deck. Abis turned to Nathan. "Secure the docking clamps and let's put the runabout into standby mode." (reply Benoit) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Runabout Tanzania, Cockpit, ASO Ensign Benoit- Day 5- 0913) Abis turned to Nathan. "Secure the docking clamps and let's put the runabout into standby mode." "Yes ma'am." Benoit completed the docking maneuver and powered down the ship to standby mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hexikor Alpha, Shuttle- bay SciO Lieutenant Abis- Day 5- 0914*) Once the runabout was properly secured and standing by for further use, Abis still wearing a smile on her Bolian face, rose from her pilot's seat and headed back into the main compartment. She recovered her duty bag and looped it over her right shoulder before moving to the runabout's hatch and pressing the control buttons that would open the hatch after nearly a week of being closed. There was a slight sigh of air as the pressure between the runabout and the landing bay equalized and Abis immediately noted the distinct smell of machine oil floating on the air. After so long a period cooped up inside the runabout smelling only biological odors, it was a refreshing, although mechanical odor. She walked down the gangplank, Benoit not far behind her. A small group of individuals were waiting for them. One of them was a large human man wearing a Starfleet uniform sporting commander's pips. The others were Bynars. "Lieutenant Abis, Ensign Benoit?" the commander asked. "I'm Abis, sir." she replied with a nod. She placed her carry bag on the deck and came to attention. "I know that it is very likely that with the USS Furious involved in the mission now that things will most assuredly get more difficult before getting any easier." "My suspicions that there may be a high level conspiracy in the admiralty are shaken although they have not yet been dismissed out of hand. The possibility is still very much alive, considering the fact that the Bardon mining facility was, in fact, refining Boronite ore to the necessary purity to allow the creation of the Omega Molecule." "It seems also that whatever powers that may be involved have seen fit to declare us a rogue vessel at present, although I do not believe that this designation is fleet wide at this point. So far only the USS furious has arrived, captained by Captain Saleke, previously CO of the USS Hades." "I find it somehow unlikely that he of all the captains in the fleet should just happen to be so close to the facility as to stumble upon us only hours after we arrived to investigate. Somehow I get the distinct impression that he has somehow been manipulated into being in just the right place at the right time to allow him to follow a logical course of action and attempt to hinder our progress in getting to the bottom of this Omega Device Mystery." "The Furious obviously must have detected the latent residuals of the Spiral drive employed by the imposter Rosenante, and has pursued them towards Hexikor Alpha, where we ourselves were headed before the Furious' arrival." "If it had not been for the presence of the Mill, filled with Magnesite Asteroids so close to the point of engagement, I think it likely that either I would have been forced to destroy the Furious or that she would have gotten the better of us. Saleke's ingenuity in modifying standard torpedoes with a limited version of a interphase cloak to allow them to bypass our shields, was quite a surprise. However, at this stage, V'Shera has worked out a way to shift the phase variance of our inner layer of shields to match those of any further phased torpedoes, effectively neutralizing the advantage." "If we do encounter the Furious again. I think it would be best to attempt to disable her to prevent easy pursuit of us. As it is, we're going to end up a few hours behind her arrival, thanks to the spiral drive." "The furious aside, my primary goal is the apprehension of the imposter vessel and to put any plot concerning an Omega device to rest one way or the other. That is the only way that we can clear our names and make certain that any conspiracy is uncovered." End Log. Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante- Brig- SO- Ensign Mike Rosenbauer (MU) - Day 7 - 1258) Mike landed another punch into the ribs of the security officer that was suspended from the ceiling of the brig cell by the shackle extender. "Tell me who sent you." he repeated. The man looked up at him through his swollen purple eyes and groaned out. "I.. no one..." A second punch landed, this time across the man's cheek bone. "Was it Wyler, Raschen, Jackson, Sullivan or Nayati?" he asked. The man just glared at him as blood ran from the corner of his lip and dripped on the brig floor of the cell. "They'll kill you and that bitch you work for." he said in disgust. "Let me down and I'll do it myself." "I bet you would." Mike said as he gripped the man's bruised jaw with his right hand. "But you'd only succeed in getting yourself killed and keeping me from gathering any other information about you and who you work for." Mike smiled, forcing the scar on the side of his face to contort into a hideous glob of pink-white tissue that gave him an otherworldly appearance. "No." he said with a shake of his head. "You'll not be getting off that easily. I'm not quite finished with you yet." =^=Ensigns Rixx, Smith and Rosenbauer. Meet me in Transporter One in no more than five minutes. I'll be there shortly," he replied. He looked back at the prisoner, the man who had tried to poison Mike but had missed his mark and killed Sodra instead. Cooper had been infuriated and had almost killed the man before he had managed to stop him. As it was his assistant squad leader was still trembling with anger at the death of his girlfriend. "Cooper." Mike said and Tyrone turned to look at him. "It does us no good if this man dies before we know what he knows. Use the knife. Convince him to talk, and then..." "I kill him." Tyrone finished. "Yes, but not until you know who sent him. Am I understood?" Tyrone nodded. "I didn't hear you Cooper." Rosenbauer pressed. "I understand." Cooper replied, then pulled his dagger. Mike turned on the balls of his feet in military fashion and left the cell, just as the man's screams were beginning. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante- Bridge - (MU) ATAC/SEC Officer Lt. (jg) Jon Nayati – 1303) Jon looked over Captain Salid’s shoulder as he watched the ship’s main view screen. Jon read the utter contempt in his Captain’s aura and thoughts as he regarded their new attack target. In their own stronger, aggressive universe, the artificial moon of Hexikor Alpha was both incredibly fortified and well defended. In this alternate, softer, friendlier and pathetic universe the artificial Bynar moon was completely undefended. ~It wouldn’t even be a real challenge for their superior Rose to transport in and take whatever Captain Salid wanted. But what exactly did Captain Salid want from this alternate Memory Alpha? Why had he taken the bromite ore from the previously ravaged Bardon Mining Colony?~ As usual, Captain Salid was both silent and strong willed about his mission goals. He was strong willed enough to even keep Jon out of his mind telepathically. Jon had quit trying to read Captain Salid’s thoughts a long time ago. Instead Jon had learned to read Captain Salid’s aura and body language well enough to anticipate his Captain’s needs and keep them both safe from treachery. As such, the working relationship between Captain Salid and Jon had been both long and mutually profitable to them both. Jon had learned to keep his mouth shut and wait for orders while trying get a few coincidental perks, like his new docile slave V’Shera, in the process. Thinking of tall, brown V’Shera’s hot blooded, pointy eared, physical charms caused Jon to squirm a little in his station chair. Ruthlessly, permanently and totally mind melded to him, he heard V’Shera in his head, pleading and imploring, just as he’d conditioned her to do. ::Lover, come to me. Master, be with me. Hold me, lie to me and pretend you’ll someday free me. I’ve missed your strong touch for so very, very long. It seems like days, like months to me, since we last entwined together. I have too much free time on my hands, too many idle hours, with nothing to do, but think of you, and how to please you better, my Lover-Master. Come to me, and I will show what I’ve learned, Master Jon Nayati. Orion slave girls and Denobulan women have nothing on a properly inspired Vulcan female. And you’ve made me very inspired and so motivated. My green eyes burn for the sight of you, Master. My blood now boils with alien passion, and my lips and skin are now starved for even your slightest caress. Once I hated you for doing this to me, hated you for making me your lover and obedient thrall. Hated you for you for making me feel all these conflicting, chaotic and illogical emotions. Now Lover, I revel in my feelings of love for, myand abasement to you, Mast-.:: Jon instantly squelched the silent telepathic mind link with his lovely Vulcan thrall as Captain Salid began speaking to him. "Mister Nayati, there are two pieces of equipment. I want recovered from that station. You may be forced to ask some questions.I am looking for a Paratrinic shield generator and a Class 11 computer." Jon bowed his head slightly and replied. Without a pause, Jon replied, “you know I always look forward to asking questions, Captain, Sir. Let me get the semantics from the computer and assemble an away team and we’ll be on the way, Sir.” Captain Salid then spoke to his bridge crew. “The away team will consist of Jackson, Rixx, Caskie, Nayati, Smith and Rosenbauer." “Caskie, Bring me what I want commander. Have Rixx secure the hardware and see to it that it is working properly. Once you've beamed aboard, I'll engage the prime Facility to create a distraction. Bring them to me quickly. And right now his suspicions were falling on Dawson. ~It's not are you paranoid.~ he thought to himself, ~It's are you paranoid enough.~ Mike knew that he couldn't do anything to the transporter chief at present. There was no real reason to suspect that he was involved in any particular plot against him, and so resigned to not act upon the desire to ensure Dawson's direct loyalty through pain, coercion or blackmail, he just nodded at the technician and took his place on the transporter pad. Once satisfied she went to the nearest locker and retrieved an engineering kit before heading out the door and on to the transporter room. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante- Transporter Room 1- AOPS- Ensign Robert Smith (MU) - Day 7 - 1305) Robert stepped into the transporter room with a smile on his face. no one aboard this ship knew the Bynars like he did. no one had ripped apart their technology, their bodies and their collective minds to the same degree that he had. He was the preeminent expert on all things Bynar. The Assistant Operations Officer noted with some irritation that Rosenbauer was present on the away mission, but he supposed he'd be forced to deal with the fact on his own. The Security man was a tyrant reveling in his own power. He enforced everything with brute force rather using his intellect to overcome problems. he was a toady and nothing more. Smith was however inwardly pleased that the assassin had failed to kill the security Officer. The trail would, of course, lead back to Jackson eventually, event though his chief knew nothing of the plot against him. With Tom Jackson dead at Rosenbauer's hand, Smith would be free to be promoted to the chief of operations, serving the Empire and the captain of the Rosenante without fear or worry. ~I can do the job better than Jackson can anyhow.~ he thought as he took up his position on the Transporter platform. His smile broadened as he remembered that soon he'd get his hands on some Bynars first hand. (reply Jackson, Nayati, Jackson, Rixx) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante- Transporter Room 1- COPS- Lt Tom Jackson(MU) - Day 7 - 1305.5) Tom Jackson mentally looked at things after the foiled assassin;s attempt. He noticed a Cheshire like cat grin on Ensign Smith;s face. Tom could;t prove it, but suspected strongly Smith had tried to set him up and lay the blame on Jackson. Tom knew Robbie still strongly resented him taking the Cops job. Fortunately, his step dad, a Ferengi named Pez, had given him some interesting micro miniature devices to enable him to keep Smith in his place. T.J. had some contacts (and support) amongst the other members of the crew. He was still furious about being made to look like a whimpering fool by Captain Salid. Jackson planned a sweet revenge on Robbie Smith. He soon had his own 'special' grin on his face. A rather sour looking Rosenbauer was already standing on the pad. He seemed to be watching the door. Of course, he also seemed ready to snap someone's head right off their shoulders. She nodded to him and took a spot on the transporter pad next to him. He wasn't exactly a person to make small talk with, so she didn't even try. It wasn't like they would be standing there for very long. She amused herself by doing comparative benefit analysis between being in a room with Rosenbauer and continuing her tasks in engineering. Annoyed to note that everyone was on time she simply let a small sneer cross her face as she gazed at each of them one by one. Furious at the news she had just been given about Sodra she itched to vent that fury on someone and a latecomer would have been any ideal target. ~Never mind.~ She thought. ~Business first, pleasure later.~ Once she was certain she had their full attention she began the briefing. "We are currently orbiting the moon of Hexicor Alpha. The Captain has ordered us to bring him two items, a Paratrinic Shield Generator and a Class 11 Computer. Mr Nayati and Mr Jackson will lead the search for them. Mr Smith, you will be aiding them since your knowledge of the Bynars is likely to prove invaluable. Ensign Rixx, once the hardware has been found you will secure it and make sure that it is in perfect working order before we beam it back. The Captain will have the ship engage Hexicor Alpha to create a distraction which will give us the time we need to complete our mission. Understood?" Pausing for a moment her eyes suddenly hardened. "One other matter. I have recently been informed about the death of a member of Mr Rosenbauer's squad. Let me make this clear. This away mission is vital and there will be no reprisals during it. Do you all understand me? If anyone and I mean anyone, suffers an 'unfortunate accident' during this mission none of you will survive it. That goes for you too Dawson. You had better make sure that everyone who beams down returns." "Oh and just so that we are all clear on this, should I be the one to suffer the 'unfortunate accident' it won't spare any of you. You'll still die, just a lot slower is all." She let her eyes roam over each and every one of them for a moment and then smiled. "Of course when we return, what you do with your free time....." she shrugged her shoulders and left the thought hanging. Crossing to the free transporter disc beside Rosenbauer she nodded to Dawson. "Energise." (Hexicor Alpha Moon - Transporter Room - FO - Cmdr Jennifer Caskie (MU) - Day 7 - 1312) As the team re-assembled on the moon Jennifer turned to them. "Mr Nayati, Mr Jackson, lead the way." (Reply Nayati, Jackson, Rixx, Smith, Rosenbauer) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx (MU) -Day 7 - 1310) As the First Officer came into the room, everyone waiting on the transporter PADD noticeably straightened. From the looks of things Caskie was in as good of a mood as Rosenbauer. Mitena had a hard time remembering that being selected for away missions was usually a good thing. ~Paratrinic Shield Generator and a Class 11 Computer. Check.~ She thought to herself. Immediately, she wanted to know what the devices were for but judged from the way the First Officer's gaze seemed to fixate on each of them in turn as she continued with the briefing, now wasn't the time to ask. In this case it would be best to watch, listen and learn. "If anyone and I mean anyone, suffers an 'unfortunate accident' during this mission none of you will survive it." Caskie threatened. Mitena knew it wasn't an empty threat. There would be hell to pay if anything happened. And by stating it the way she did, the first officer had made them each responsible for each other's well being. ~Oh well, too late to go back to the maintenance crawl space.~ (Hexicor Alpha Moon - Transporter Room - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx (MU) -Day 7 - 1313) Mitena couldn't help but to look around and make sure that everyone had arrived safely when they had all materialized on the moon. She decided to hold in her sigh of relief until they were all safely back on the ship. "Mr. Nayati, Mr. Jackson, lead the way." Came the order. Following along with the rest of the team, she muddled over what the devices they were searching for would be used for. (reply none) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1- COPS - Lt tom Jackson (MU) - Day 7 - 1311) Jackson stood quietly reviewing his crew mates. When his eyes lighted on Robbie Smith his smile widen. Tom was planning a nice little surprise for Robbie and the surprise he was planning made Jackson happy. Jackson was making sure the surprise would be long and painful. The First Officer began her briefing. All eyes and ears were on Josh - she could be brutal and outright cruel when she wanted to. josh spoke clearly and said "We are currently orbiting the moon of Hexicor Alpha. The Captain will have the ship engage Hexicor Alpha to create a distraction which will give us the time we need to complete our mission. Understood?" Jackson signaled his understanding quickly. "Understood Commander" he replied simply. ~Maybe Robbie will run in front of a phaser and die. I hope I pull the trigger for that!~ Tom thought. His smile now took on a malevolent tint. The Transport took mere moments. Cmdr Caskie issued more orders ""Mr Nayati, Mr Jackson, lead the way." Tm scanned his tricorder and turned to Jon Nayati "I can lead Sir" he said.
