The metallic cylindrical relay would not budge at first attempt but with his determination coupled with his malice for things not going the way he planned the first relay finally moved into place. “This should not take too long, and then we can get back to the other repairs, “ he called out to Janey. (Reply Brown) Whatever she said was inaudible but it appeared that she acknowledged and went about repositioning the relays on her side of the room. Turning back to his own work he realized he still had two other relays to return to their proper position. He pushed and watched the relay only move inches. Unsatisfied that it did not move any further he clapped his hands together and grappled it again. It would not move. There was just enough space for Ryan to position his back against the nearest wall and push the relay with his feet.   ~Engineering at its finest~ he thought to himself as the relay aligned back into position. Ryan took a second to stop and wipe the sweat that beaded on his brow. “This last one better fall in line,” he whispered to himself. And it did he pushed and the replay returned to alignment. Finished with his share of the work Ryan walked over to Janey and struck up another conversation. “So you have been working a lot longer with the CEO than me, what’s her story?” (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Myla’s Dream – Engine Room – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 1942) Henry turned to the CEO with a thought on his mind. “You know I have been thinking, as soon as we are done here we need to get the shields back up, don’t you think?” (reply Vesper) “Who knows what progress has been made over on the  Gannicus. If we can’t get everyone over to the Gannicus in time we will need the shields to last as long as possible over here.” (reply Vesper) “No one responded when I tried raising the Gannicus the first time, I can try again since we are almost done in here.” Once again Henry tapped his badge in an attempt to contact someone back on the Gannicus. “Commander Jacobs to the Gannicus” (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Myla’s Dream – Engine Room – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1943)   “You know I have been thinking, as soon as we are done here we need to get the shields back up, don’t you think?”   Ash swept her hair back from her eyes, "Shields, sir?" Moving over to a panel on the wall she swept away some debris and started the flickering station back up. The hull let off long a muted agonizing groan.   “Who knows what progress has been made over on the  Gannicus. If we can’t get everyone over to the Gannicus in time we will need the shields to last as long as possible over here.”   "We can start the shields back up, but the draw will add additional stress to the engine repair.  It might be best to divert the power to the structural integrity field. Or even just activate the port shield emitters to buffer any impacts from the anomaly. How are things going on the Gannicus, have they found out anything more on the anomaly?"   “No one responded when I tried raising the Gannicus the first time, I can try again since we are almost done in here.”   ~Probably all the localized radiation here, it should be vented by now~ Once again Henry tapped his badge in an attempt to contact someone back on the Gannicus. “Commander Jacobs to the Gannicus”   A burst of static echoed from his badge. Ash took out a small device from her kit and placed it neatly beside his comm badge, "Give it a try now, this should counter the residual radiation and boost the gain for you." (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 19.45)   He was monitoring his station when he heard CDR Jacobs over the COMM.  The voice was coming in full of static but was clear enough to respond to the call.  He opened a channel.   "Trei here.  What is your status sir.  We are handling the injuries well over here."   He waited for the response.  It was good to hear from the away teams and he was very interested in learning of their progress.  (Posted by Edward)   (Myla’s Dream – Engine Room – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs -1949) It wasn’t until Ash walked over to Henry and slapped something on his chest that he could get a clear message through over to the Gannicus. The static cleared up and he finally got a response back from Lt. Trei the Security Chief. =^=Trei here. What is your status sir. We are handling the injuries well over here.=^= “Lieutenant, glad to hear someone respond. We have done all we can in the engine room. We will need equipment from the Gannicus to complete the major repairs. What is the status on the transporters?” (reply Trei) The news he heard was not what he expected. “Understood LT.and what is the status of the transferring of people to the Gannicus? How many more to go?” (reply Trei) “Alright we will use the shuttles to get the remainders off the ship. “ Henry closed the channel and turned to address the room. “Change of plans, “ he started, “ we need to close things up here and get the remaining people off this ship. “ The commander walked over to Ash motioning for her to finish up what she was immediately working on so they could all make their way back to the shuttle. (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (Myla’s Dream – Engine Room – CEO Ensign Vesper -1951)   The commander walked over to Ash motioning for her to finish up what she was immediately working on so they could all make their way back to the shuttle.   She removed the device from the Commanders chest and placed it into a larger unit another engineer had placed beside her. It was a small transmitted that should give them basic access and monitoring of the Myla's systems. ~Lets hope this can cut through all the interference from the anomaly~ She propped the device up and twisted the top round fully. It beeped once and lit up. Looking round she signaled to her engineers to secure all the stations. Quickly she finished buffering the port shields and locked the controls. Nodding to the Commander, she was ready to get the hell out of there. (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CO Captain Eva Straton, 19:52) Eva was pacing the Bridge as the time till the tear swallowed the Dream drew closer and closer. This was the hardest part for her, the waiting. She was a person of action and would have rather been doing something other than pacing the Bridge. "Sir!" Ensign Hayes said suddenly from the science station. "Report," Eva said, moving across the Bridge and to the science station. "I believe I have found a way to slow the tear's growth rate. As stated earlier the tear is feeding off of our energy. Well, more specifically the tear is feeding from our plasma exhaust. What I suggest, and it was backed up from a computer simulation, is that we ignite the plasma exhaust before it reaches tear," Hayes explained "That will stop the tear from growing?" She asked "It is not full proof, some of the exhaust will still feed the tear, but it should buy us the time we need," Hayes continued to give a full brief quickly. "Dangerous, very dangerous." She said turning to look at the Dream and the subspace tear on the main viewscreren. "You are absolutely correct sir. Igniting the exhaust too close to the ship's hull will radiate the outer ship and a good chance of doing the same inside. We will need to ignite the exhaust far enough away from us and the Myla's Dream, but close enough so the tear doesn't grow any larger," Hayes replied. "Work out the details with Tactical," She said stepping down to the command deck her mind made up. "Chief Brown evacuate the areas of the ship most likely to be exposed to radiation from the blast." (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Engineer Jonas - 1953) "You are absolutely correct sir. Igniting the exhaust too close to the ship's hull will radiate the outer ship and a good chance of doing the same inside. We will need to ignite the exhaust far enough away from us and the Myla's Dream, but close enough so the tear doesn't grow any larger." Jonas stood at the aft engineering station, he was only there briefly to check a few systems over before returning to the cargo bay. Overhearing the conversation he though it might value some of his input. "Captain," he stuttered. (reply Straton) He gathered himself and continued, "If we inject some of the warp cores coolant  into the impulse exhaust that might allow us to control where the ignition point starts. If it is too close we dump more, if its too far less. That should give us a relative amount of control." (posted by Adam)  (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 1954)  "Work out the details with Tactical," the Captain said stepping down to the command deck her mind made up.  "Chief Brown evacuate the areas of the ship most likely to be exposed to radiation from the blast." Ensign Hayes didn't need to respond to the Captain as she knew that the Ensign would follow orders. Instead the Captain turned to give another command. Collin turned as well, but toward his work station. He had barely discovered a way to slow down the tear and now he was expected to to put that motion.  The pressure of the task was a little more uncomfortable for him than he would have expected. As a new Ensign he was unprepared for such a task that held so many people's lives in his hands. As he was trying to control his breathing he heard a voice behind him talking to the Captain about igniting the exhaust. It was the engineer Jonas, someone Collin didn't know at all really. "If we inject some of the warp cores coolant  into the impulse exhaust that might allow us to control where the ignition point starts. If it is too close we dump more, if its too far less. That should give us a relative amount of control." "Captain, Collin spoke up, I believe Jonas is correct. I ask that Jonas be allowed to work with me?" (reply Straton, Jonas) Jonas walked over to be closer to the science station, "Hello, I am Ensign Hayes." (reply Jonas) Collin was happy that the Captain was giving him another person to work with. It relieved his mind a little about working alone. Of course the Captain had also mentioned working with tactical. Of course the Chief Tactical Officer was still on Myla's Dream so he would need to work another tactical officer, until Tallac came back onboard. "I will be right back, I need to speak with the tactical officer." He stepped over to the tactical station," If you are available I could use your help with the task of igniting plasma coolant as safely as possible once we release it." (reply any who want to play tactical) The three officers were now altogether, and they needed to find a safe way to ignite the coolant. "Any ideas? Jonas, can you explain a little more about mixing the coolant and exhaust?" (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 19.55)   He heard the response from Jacobs and the situation over on Mya's Dream.  From what he heard, more injured needed to be transported at a larger rate.  He relayed what the Gannicus was capable of at this point.   "Unfortunately sir the transporters are offline.  You must get out of there quickly before a plasma trail is ignited to control the rift expansion rate.  Good luck.  Anything else sir before I lose the channel?" (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus, Transporter Room 1, ATT Lt. Commander Zzt, 19:56) Zzt growled to himself as he made adjustments to the annular confinement beam and dumped the pattern buffers as he prepared to re-initialize the ships transporter systems. ~I never would have left the Nimitz if it had been in this shape.~ He thought angrily as he moved about his work. ~Vespers should be here on the ship over seeing the repairs. Let a junior engineer run the team going over to the other ship. I never got to go on away missions when I was CEO of the Nimitz.~ Being in a grumpy mood, Zzt had chased everyone else out of the transporter room as we quietly went about the job of getting the transporters back on line. Finally, Zzt closed his tool box and set the transporter system into a diagnostic mode to make sure he hadn't missed something. He was sure he hadn't but the diagnostic was required by protocol. Finally the results appeared on the screen and Zzt grunted in satisfaction. "Zzt Bridge," He said, tapping his comm-badge. "Transporters now back on line." (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Engineer Jonas - 1957) "Captain, Collin spoke up, I believe Jonas is correct. I ask that Jonas be allowed to work with me?" (reply Straton)   Locking his station Jonas nodded his head and moved over to the science station. "Hello, I am Ensign Hayes." ”Jonas,” he replied shortly. “If you want to execute this plan I will need to bypass the main flow controls and feed it directly into the valves. Ill start at a mixture rate of fifty parts per billion and we can see how that reacts” "I will be right back, I need to speak with the tactical officer." He stepped over to the tactical station.   “Sure,” replied Jonas opening a station calibrating his reactions The ensign shortly walked back over with a person from tactical.   The three officers were now altogether, and they needed to find a safe way to ignite the coolant. "Any ideas? Jonas, can you explain a little more about mixing the coolant and exhaust?"   He nodded, “The coolant will act as a control rod for the reaction. Think of it as smothering a flame partly down with a blanket. As the particles are ejected we can control the levels of radiation we receive and the rate that the anomaly reacts. The coolant will not react well with a glancing phaser beam so we will need to be careful in targeting only our trail. If we start with the coolant to close in we will not be able to eject enough to control the reaction without extinguishing it.” He took a deep breath having finished and looked at the other two. (reply Hayes, tactical, and Straton if you want)   (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 1958) Jonas nodded, “The coolant will act as a control rod for the reaction. The coolant will not react well with a glancing phaser beam so we will need to be careful in targeting only our trail. If we start with the coolant to close in we will not be able to eject enough to control the reaction without extinguishing it.” He took a deep breath having finished and looked at the other two. Collin looked over at the tactical officer. "Do you believe you can target the coolant in a control manner safely?" (reply tactical) "Excellent, Jonas start setting up the parameters at your station. I will prepare the necessary mix ratio to slow down the tear specifications." Collin turned his head toward the tactical officer. "Begin charging the weapons system at the correct power level. Alright we only have 5 minutes to get this started so lets go!" (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Engineer Jonas - 1959)   Collin looked over at the tactical officer. Alright we only have 5 minutes to get this started so lets go!"   Jonas moved over to his station and prepped the main injectors. Diverting the main flow controls he passed a memo down to engineering so that no one interfered with the procedure. “Ready here, mixture levels ready. Waiting for the word” (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - NPC Tactical Officer Ensign Dok Nor - 2000) Dok was paying attention to his tactical console. He was constantly monitoring the tear, the Myla's Dream and any other possible threat. He was always ready for action. His thought process was a little too focused when another Ensign approached him. He body did a little twitch when the person spoke to him. "If you are available I could use your help with the task of igniting plasma coolant as safely as possible once we release it," Ensign Hayes said. "Very well, I have been instructed to render aid to you as needed. Please lead the way," Dok answered.  Jonas nodded, “The coolant will act as a control rod for the reaction. Think of it as smothering a flame partly down with a blanket. As the particles are ejected we can control the levels of radiation we receive and the rate that the anomaly reacts. The coolant will not react well with a glancing phaser beam so we will need to be careful in targeting only our trail. Collin looked over at the tactical officer. "Do you believe you can target the coolant in a control manner safely?" Dok stood there silently for a second. He could feel the other two officer's eyes staring at him. They would need to wait though, he was thinking. "Yes, the targeting system is advanced enough to precisely place a level 1 mine or level 3 torpedo in the specified area. Furthermore, we can trigger the mine or torpedo at the exact time we want it to ignite." "Excellent, Jonas start setting up the parameters at your station. I will prepare the necessary mix ratio to slow down the tear specifications." Collin turned his head toward the tactical officer. "Begin charging the weapons system at the correct power level. Alright we only have 5 minutes to get this started so lets go!" Ensign Nor stepped away from the science console and back to his tactical station. He decided to go with the torpedo instead of the mine. He began to push in his command codes for charging the weapons and ordered a set of torpedoes to be at his disposal.  (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 2003) The time had come to see if the triumvirate of Hayes, Jonas, and Nor were good enough to slow the tear down as they said they could. Ensign Hayes wasted no time. "Ensign Jonas, begin displacing the exhaust and coolant." (reply Jonas) Collin looked at his screen with extreme focus, "Monitoring the mix ratio, the ratio will be at proper solvency in eight, seven, six... Ensign Nor: fire torpedo..." Dok placed a single finger on his screen and one level 3 torpedo shot out of the weapons tube. "Torpedo away, waiting for ignite command." Collin continued, "Three, two, one, ignite the torpedo." Ensign Nor did so immediately. "Torpedo blown." Collin looked at the view screen to see if he could see any changes. He was able to see the explosion from the torpedo and then a spread of fire through the exhaust and coolant. He went back to his screen. "Ensign Jonas, are you showing any changes?" (reply Jonas) "Me too, the tear's growth rate is slowing! Collin said gladly. "Captain I believe it worked!" (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae – 2005) Mil saw the med bay appear in front of him. Glad to be back on a slightly safer ship he looked down and saw the last of the survivors at his feet. Having managed to pull two heavily burnt crewmen out of the engine room he was still feeling sick at the sight of them. Their skin was peeling off and they were still vomiting. "Cally, Aimee over here" He called at the two women who had just finished with an operation. They both rushed over and started to lift the two men onto the beds. Mil winked at Aimee as she lifted. More saying he was alive and back rather than anything else. He saw the weak and tired smile come back. This was taking it toll on everyone. "Sedate them, I need to get out of this uniform. Start obs and pain treatment." He ordered as he ran through to the morge to change. Coming back into the room he had scrubs on ready for action. "report" he said looking up at Aimee. "this one has major radiation burns. 70 percent covering his body. His stomach is bloated with vomit." Mil watched as he received the breif for both officers. "Ok, stomach pump, lets try and clear his airway make him more comfortable." Mil pulled out his own tricorder and scanned for a second time. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CEO Ensign Vesper - 2006) "Ensign Jonas, begin displacing the exhaust and coolant." Jonas Tapped his controls, “Injecting the particles now.” The main screen showed part of the Gannicus’s trail luminescing a bright blue tint.  Collin looked at his screen with extreme focus, "Monitoring the mix ratio, the ratio will be at proper solvency in eight, seven, six... "Ensign Jonas, are you showing any changes?" ”Injection is stable, no damage to the impulse drive.” Quickly he checked his instruments, “It looks like we are have an effect on the tear. Grow is decreasing steadily sixty... seventy per cent. Can you confirm?” He said looking up at Hayes. "Me too, the tear's growth rate is slowing! Collin said gladly. "Captain I believe it worked!" (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus, Bridge, CO Captain Eva Straton, 20:20) Eva was sitting in the command chair, her eyes on the main view screen where the subspace tear was still prominently displayed. The Myla's Dream was just visible in the lower section of the view screen. They had successfully detonated the plasma thus slowing the growth of the tear and giving them the extra time they had needed and where just now finishing the evacuation of the Dream. They had also managed to move the Gannicus and the Dream to a relatively safe distance from the tear. "Away Team is back on board," Chief Brown announced from her station at OPS. "Inform Commander Jacobs, and all senior science and engineering officers to meet me in the Observation Lounge in 15 minutes," Eva ordered coolly. (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – ACEO Lieutenant Ryan Jericho – 2030) Ryan had done as he was ordered and made his way to the observation lounge after realigning the Dilithium arrays with Chief Brown. The room was half filled and he noticed that the away team was back as the Commander Jacobs and CEO Vesper were already occupying the room. The conversation he walked in on did not seem to be anything about the work at hand as he noticed a smile sneak from the woman’s face more than once. ~Great now lover boy is interested in her. I really don’t want to have to compete….~ The thought was interrupted by the odd sight of the CMO cutting in between Ash and Henry with her scanning device as if there was something wrong with the female engineer.  ~Something must have happened while the away team was over there and well now the doctor is running interference. Seems good to me~ He waived the nonsense out of his head and went to take a seat, sitting directly next to Vesper but in a posture to prevent him from appearing interested in the conversation she was having. It didn’t matter too much longer as the captain walked in and got right to business and tasked the CEO with engineering’s priorities. As the captain moved on addressing the other department’s Ryan slide a padd over to Ash showing her what all had been completed and what still needed to be taken care of. The item of note at the top of the list was restoring warp capabilities. (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus, Observation Lounge, CO Captain Eva Straton 20:35) Eva walked into the Observation lounge right on time and quickly moved to the head of the table. "I will try to make this as quick as possible as I know you all have a lot of work to do," She said, getting right to business, "Now that the passengers and crew of the Myla's Dream are safely on board we need to turn our attention to finishing repairs to the Gannicus and closing that subspace tear." She looked at Ensign Vesper. "I need you to focus on repairs to the Gannicus. We will cease any repair work on the Dream until repairs on the Gannicus are completed and we have dealt with this tear." Eva then turned her attention to Lt. Romanoff and Ensign Hayes. "I need the science department to work on how we can seal that tear before it gets too large. Use whatever recourses you need but work quickly." "Commander," She said finally looking at Commander Jacobs, " I would like you to work with Security and Medical to make sure our guests are being well treated and not getting out of hand. There is a lot of scared people down there and there is no telling how they will react. You may wish to have Dr. Caspian help you." She stopped and looked around the room. "Are there any questions or concerns?" (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Observation Lounge - CEO Ensign Vesper, -2041) "I will try to make this as quick as possible as I know you all have a lot of work to do," She said, getting right to business, "Now that the passengers and crew of the Myla's Dream are safely on board we need to turn our attention to finishing repairs to the Gannicus and closing that subspace tear."  She looked at Ensign Vesper.  "I need you to focus on repairs to the Gannicus.  We will cease any repair work on the Dream until repairs on the Gannicus are completed and we have dealt with this tear." Ash picked up the PADD Jericho slid across and scanned the list of priorities. She typed a few words back into the PADD and slid it back across to him. It read ‘Thank you. Keep up the good work :-)’ She nodded in response to the Captain. It didn't seem to make sense as the ship was evacuated and in a relatively stable condition. Eva then turned her attention to Lt. "Are there any questions or concerns?" Thinking of a quick question Ash piped up. ”Ma’am I would like to assign Mr Jericho and Jonas to the science department. They will be able to make sure that they have the engineering resources they need and answer any technical questions on the ships capabilities they might have.” (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae and ACMO Aimee Bracken – 2130) Mil had finished surgery and was sat in the office ~peace for a second~ picking up the PADD he reviewed the casualty list and their treatment. For the third time since arriving back he felt the burning sensation on his arm, pulling back the red sleeve of his scrubs he saw the tell tale sign. Blisters had appeared on his arm and the sensation was spreading. "Mil, quickly we need you" Aimee called from the main room. He covered his arm and ran out into the Sickbay. By the door was Aimee holding onto a collapsed security guard, moving closer Mil saw the face of one of the guards that had been with him on the away team. Pulling a tricorder Mil scanned him. He recoiled at the results, but the skin tone of the man provided a second opinion. "Mil, a little help" Aimee spoke again, her face showing a little frustrated at Mils reaction. He stepped back again, thoughts streaming through his mind. "Cally, get him onto the bed, 10cc morphine for the pain and saline patches for the burns." Aimee had taken over and started issuing orders. She grabbed Mils arm and watched the pain on his face. Both stood looking at each other. Mil slowly rolled up his sleeve to show the burn marks. In silence he watched her face there was no hiding it. Aimee went to tap her comm badge. Mil signalled her to stop. "Im still the CMO" he said moving her arm down. "Nicolae to all members of the away team, report to Sickbay. That is an order" Mil stood and looked at the man now on his bio bed. There was a retching noise followed by the sound of vomit hitting the floor. Silence and then the flatline tone. Gulping hard Mil tapped his badge again. "Captain to Sickbay" (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Observation Lounge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 2033) Collin made it to the observation lounge in time and sat in a chair further away from the front of the table. He sat there patiently until Captain Straton walked in and began the meeting with haste.  She quickly summarized the current situation of the Myla's Dream passengers now being on board, and then she went on to give Ensign Vesper orders to focus on Gannicus' repairs.  The Captain then turned her attention to Lt. Romanoff and Ensign Hayes.  "I need the science department to work on how we can seal that tear before it gets too large.  Use whatever resources you need but work quickly."   "Commander," She said finally looking at Commander Jacobs, " I would like you to work with Security and Medical to make sure our guests are being well treated and not getting out of hand.  There is a lot of scared people down there and there is no telling how they will react.  You may wish to have Dr. Caspian help you."   She stopped and looked around the room.  "Are there any questions or concerns?" "No sir," Ensign Hayes replied quickly in a low tone. He wasn't for sure if it was a rhetorical question or not. He then fell silent waiting to see if any others had any questions or concerns." The meeting was over and Collin needed to speak with the Chief Science Officer. He walked over to the man. "Sir, do you wish to meet on the bridge or in one of the science labs to tackle this tear?" (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – Chief Science Officer Lieutenant Nickolas Romanoff – 2036) “Lets get to work in the Astrometrics Lab. The Bridge is crowded enough as it is,” was the reply he gave to the ensign motioning him to the doors and to the turbolift. The two walked out of the observation lounge and made a left towards the turbolift while the others headed for the bridge. “I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what we need to do to close that tear… it’s very frustrating.” (reply Hayes) Nickolas nodded as the two entered the turbolift. “Deck Six,” he called out to start the transportation. The trip was relatively short since it was only five decks below. The doors swished open and the two walked out. “What’s even more of a mystery is what caused it. I have a feeling it wasn’t what happened on the cargo ship that caused it. I would go as far as to say the Gannicus may have something to do with it, but how I don’t know.” (reply Hayes) “What scans have already been completed on the tear? What scans have not been run?” (reply Hayes) “Let’s run them all again and add the ones that we have yet to run.” Nickolas issued the order realizing he was only talking to the ensign. “I thought we were supposed to have two engineers working with us?” (reply Hayes) No sooner than he made the comment the two engineers, Ryan and Jonas, came walking up. “Gentlemen, are we ready to get to work?” (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus - Observation Lounge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 2037) “Lets get to work in the Astrometrics Lab. The Bridge is crowded enough as it is,” was the reply Nickolas gave to the ensign motioning him to the doors and to the turbolift. The two walked out of the observation lounge and made a left towards the turbolift while the others headed for the bridge. “I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what we need to do to close that tear… it’s very frustrating.” "Absolutely," was the first reply Collin gave. He walked in step with the person beside him. "I have been studying it very closely and I am no closer to figuring out a way of destroying it completely, without a warp core breach anyway, but maybe igniting our exhaust has some answers that we might not have seen before." Ensign Hayes stepped into the turbolift after Nickolas.  The ride didn't take long and it seemed the two officers took the time to think rather than continue their conversation. It wasn't until they stepped off the turbolift their theories continued.  “What’s even more of a mystery is what caused it. I have a feeling it wasn't what happened on the cargo ship that caused it. I would go as far as to say the Gannicus may have something to do with it, but how I don’t know," Lieutenant Romanoff explained.  "Interesting theory sir," Collin said looking at the Chief Science Officer. "I'm afraid I haven't seen any data to prove or disprove any of that statement." “What scans have already been completed on the tear? What scans have not been run?" "All passive scans have finished, and really haven't provided any more useful information." Ensign Hayes went through the scans in his head. "The only scans that are still ongoing are the energy distortion waves and the warp field energy waves. These scans could give us a clue as to how the tear is operating and maybe its origin." “Let’s run them all again and add the ones that we have yet to run.” Nickolas issued the order realizing he was only talking to the ensign. "Not a problem sir. We can start the scans as soon as we get to Astrometrics," Collin replied.  “I thought we were supposed to have two engineers working with us?” said Nickolas quickly after.  "Yes sir, ah," Collin spotted the two engineers. "Here they come now." “Gentlemen, are we ready to get to work?” Lieutenant Romanoff had asked clearly taking a leadership role. All the officers then walked into Astrometrics together.  "Ready when ever you are. We have Ensign Williams in engineering watching over the flow controls and the radiation levels. She should keep it all in check down there for us while we look at this." Moving over to a console he punched up some engineering charts of the Gannicus for reference. It would seem that everyone was starting from somewhere, but Collin seemed a little confused on how they were going about this. He turned from his computer to direct his question at the other officers in the room.  "Ummm...should we maybe talk about the tear and how we are going to approach destroying it?" (reply Jonas, Jericho, Romanoff) "Well, first what do we all know about the tear? From our initial reading we know that it feeds off our energy including our warp field. That is why we needed to back off as far as possible." (reply Jonas, Jericho, Romanoff) "No, we haven't began reading the data from the warp field energy waves. "We were able to move the Gannicus and Myla's Dream at a safe distance from the tear, for now. However, it will continue to grow and we will need to continue moving away from it periodically," Ensign Hayes said answering the engineers question. (reply Jericho, Romanoff) "Well, first what do we all know about the tear? From our initial reading we know that it feeds off our energy including our warp field. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus – Astrometrics Lab – CSO Lieutenant Nickolas Romanoff -2050 ) Conversation was being tossed about the room about what was already known, but everyone present was there to find the unknown. To find out how to repair something they had no clue as to how it came about. In the midst of the conversation Nickolas made his way to the center of the room and walked up a couple of stairs to the staging area. From there he pulled sensor information from the ship and displayed it on the screen which encased three quarters of the room. At first glance the tear was visable with the Myla’s dream and Gannicus to the side, a safe distance away from the tear. At least safe for the time being unless they didn’t find a solution to closing the tear. The Lt. typed more commands into the console and the screen enlarged the tear so that is was the focus of the screen large enough to see through and all around. Using his computer skill he added a layer to the display to represent the energy flow from the ships, highlighted in two different colors, into the tear. “I believe we already established that the Dream was doing a lot better near the tear than we were because she was not outputting as much energy as we were, as currently displayed. We bought ourselves some time by detonating some of the energy just before it entered the tear. Well what is we take it a step further and launch torpedoes directly into the tear?” (reply all) Nickolas picked up a padd and started working on calculations just barely listening to the responses that his suggestion prompted. She brushed the medic to the side and quickly dashed the extra few steps over to him. Kneeling down she tapped his shoulders, "L.T... HEY! L.T," she shouted. Helped to sitting his head swam and the scenery blurred, before the darkness came back, fighting it he got to his feet and was helped to a biobed.   Visions, and memories flashed in his eyes, things that had happened, and things he didn’t remember. Eva frowned, her mind working but said nothing letting the CMO finish. "Right now its all guess work but I will get to the bottom of what is happening with her. As you saw she is hesitant for any form of help. Given her reaction I would like to relive her of duty for the foreseeable future, but I will let you make that decision considering the state of the ship right now. But she always uses work as an excuse to leave my Sickbay. "If, in your medical opinion, she is a threat to herself, the ship, or crew, then you do not need my permission," Eva replied, "I can always put Commander Zzt or someone else in charge of engineering, that isn't a problem. The regulations regarding the removal of any crew member from duty are quite specific. If you feel Ensign Vesper meets that criteria, then do what you feel is best for her and the crew. If she refuses to cooperate you are authorized to use security to ensure she remains in sickbay and follows your orders." (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – MED NURSE Cally– 2207) "Do you feel any pain in your head at the moment?" “Pain... always, but that's the way it has to be for the next while.” Letting out a brief sigh she rubbed her eyes and stared to the ceiling, “Sorry, Its not your fault. So what's the damage, tumour, necrosis, amputation, am I going to go crazy?”  Cally again looked back at the results, she continued scanning. "just lay still, I'm only information gathering at the moment" (reply Vesper) "just a few more tests to do, hmm" Cally spotted something and let out a natural noise, she chastised herself for making it almost instantly (reply Vesper) "is there any place you feel more pain" Cally asked trying to let Ash guide her. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – CEO Ensign Vesper– 2208) "just lay still, I'm only information gathering at the moment" ~Still, ok... I can do still.~ She closed her eyes again and tried to ignore the medical instruments running over her, back and fourth. ~Ok where will I go, the beach. Nah. The pool. Hmm, back to the F46 i suppose. Now that plane handled well for only going mach four.~ Lost in her thoughts she let Cally continue.   "just a few more tests to do, hmm" Cally spotted something and let out a natural noise, she chastised herself for making it almost instantly Rousing from her thoughts she looked at Cally and dipped her brow unimpressed with her second 'hmm' ~Urgh... fun fun fun.~ "is there any place you feel more pain" Cally asked trying to let Ash guide her. "Its pretty much all over, but if you are  looking for a place to look deeper it feels like someone is drilling a hole in my head about here," Ash pointed just above her right temple, "It feels like you could park a shuttle in there." Once more she tried to remove herself from the environment. (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – MED NURSE Cally – 2210) Cally watched as Ash pointed to her head. "Its pretty much all over, but if you are  looking for a place to look deeper it feels like someone is drilling a hole in my head about here, It feels like you could park a shuttle in there." "Well there isn't a shuttle in here Ensgin" Cally laughed slightly as she continued to scan. Pulling up a model of the head Cally tapped a few times and concentrated the scans on the temple. There was a small dark shape appear on the screen. Fighting the need to make a noise she downloaded the data again to the PADD. "Right, just stay put, I will be back" Cally said and left to the nearby computer. The room seemed to be divided with the refugees splitting the room in half with arms raised as if a confrontation was about to ensue, or already had. The uniformed crew members with weapons drawn caught his eye. “Lieutenant Trei, what the hell is going on here?” (reply Trei) “You are supposed to be keeping order down here, “ turning to the refugees he continued, “whatever your qualm  is, it needs to end now. Right now” By this time Henry had positioned himself between the two sides and his arms were out his side. “Who is the captain of Myla’s Dream and who speaks for you refugees? With some effort he opened his eyes, wincing at the bright light. "What happened?" He asked the Nurse standing next to his bed. "You've been hit with someform of radiation while on the away mission. We don't know the exact type or dosage yet, but we are working on it." "The gas." He muttered. During the mission he has been in a small corridor that filled with a cloud of gas suddenly. "I get the feeling I may regret the Incredible Hulk jokes I made earlier." He said with a slight smile. He turned his head and spotted the captain, Mil and Dr Bracken in the CMOs office. "This was maybe more serious than I thought." He let his eyes close again, the effort of keeping them open was too much (posted by Tim) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – Nurse Marty Sanders– 2213) Sanders walked into sickbay. He was going to take down additional supplies to the cargo bay to treat some of the injured. Quickly he noticed Ash in the room talking to another officer. Subtlety looking round he checked the room. ~Good the officers are in the CMO's office. This is my chance~ Clutching his pocket he passed a number of people reaching Ash's clothes beside her bed. It only took a couple of seconds for him to plant the pain killers into her uniform before he moved away and continued with his work. ~She better damn well notice and use those~ (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay – CEO Ensign Vesper – 2214) Ash was waiting on Cally returning to her with the results of her scans. "This was maybe more serious than I thought." ~Well im not going to be bored out of my mind waiting here~ Moving closer to his bed she nudged him and smiled, "Next time dont you dare pass out when i am trying to wake you up. Got it." (reply Tallac) "Besides L.T, i wouldn't know about the incredible Hulk, but you sure gave the floor a good smash," she laughed slightly spotting all the officers in the other office. Feverish, exhausted, headache and like I want to throw up." He replied. "How are you Ash?"  (reply Ash) He struggled to sit up a little. "What about my men? Has anyone checked on them?" "How are you Ash?"  ”A bit of the same to be honest, but I always have a headache so I guess im used to it. I’m pretty sure I just have a minor case. But ill wait till the nurse says.” Ash looked him once over. He looked spent and empty.   He struggled to sit up a little. "What about my men? Has anyone checked on them?"   Helping him to rest against the back of the bed she looked for any of his men in the room. ~None here that I can see~ ”I know the engineering teams were checked out by medical as soon as we got back. I thought your men were the same?” Reaching out she failed to stop a nearby medical officer to ask. "I get the feeling that there is a wall, than someone behind is about to be nailed to. How did we get radiation poisoning, with the meds we were given?"   “The radiation in there was pretty high L.T. I think the only way I made it thought the engine room with a minor reaction was that I was carrying the radiation dampeners for the core. Another reason why Jacobs put me on point with the scanner. They absorbed a good portion of what we went through on the ship.” She put her hand on his shoulder reassuringly, “Relax, we’ll be alright.” (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Cargo Bay Three – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs - 2219) It was needless to say that Henry was oblivious to what had actually transpired in the cargo bay minutes before his arrival. The general consensus, however, was that the chief of security may have jump the gun on handling the situation. Henry turned to Trei and began to question him. “Lieutenant, did you follow proper procedure when you encountered the incident here?” (reply Trei) “Understood. Then we need to get to the bottom of this immediately,” Henry said bloicking out the profanities the bound man shouted in his direction about the Klingon. Henry walked over to the controller,  undid his restraints and assisted him up from the ground. He directed himself over to the man who claimed to be in command of the freighter. “Is what he saying true,” Henry asked. (reply NPC) “Then what is this gas the Conrad is speaking of?” (reply NPC) Taking in what the person had to say Henry then turned back to Conrad. “Is there any validity to what he says?” (reply NPC Conrad) “Well we have engineers that will determine the cause of whatever happened over there. Right now the concern is closing that tear out there in space and all of you at each other’s throats is not helping the situation. I suggest you play nice until we can get all of you to a safe location.” He now turned address everyone. “You are call confined to this cargo bay. Every one of your needs will be met but it is imperative that you all stay here and out of the way of the ships functions. “ Henry, confident that there would be no further confrontation, made his way to the cargo bay doors with the Lieutenant in tow. “Make sure you keep an eye on them and ensure there will be no further issue.” He said to the security chief. The cargo bay doors opened and Henry exited. Also it wouldn't really help her much anyway. “You’ll need to inform Mr Jericho that he is now in charge.”   (reply Mil) She quietly nodded through gritted teeth and continued to wait for her scans.  (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus, sickbay, CEO Ensign Vesper, 2328) ~Urgh this is taking forever~ Ash sat beside Tallac, now asleep after their conversation. She had nothing better to do than feel queasy and wait on her scans to come back. Her eyes were starting to feel heavy it had been a long day for everyone, but occasionally an engineer would pop by to ask a question or get some advice or repairing the ship preventing her getting any solid shut eye.   Noticing Mil walk purposely over she stood to her feet, only to jump backward to avoid him smashing into her. ~Charming...~ "Tallac, wake up" (reply Tallac) "What gas? Where did you breath the gas in?" Mil pushed for answers. (reply Tallac, Mil, any)   Ash listened into the conversation. ~I didn’t get any hazardous reading on my tricorder. Wait where was that again?~ “Doc, if the L.T. was where I think he was the gas was the fire extinguishers, but the heat and radiation might have been at the right levels for its solid systems to vaporize into a triferizine compound.” (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus, CMO's Office, CMO Lt Mil Nicolae, 2330) Sat in his office Mil looked through the data. Tallac was showing signs he had worsened where Ash had mild burns, despite the facts she spent the longest in the Radiation, he had ruled out the dampers having effected her fully, as they were deactivated. Her body had created some form of protection. Cally knocked and handed him a PADD "Ensign Vespers brain scans sir. I still have tests to run but I think you had better look at these" Mil took the PADD "thank you, how is Tallac?" Due to the conflict of interest Mil had stepped back and allowed the staff to look after Tallac, but kept a close eye. "He is still very tired, his insides have been ripped apart by the radiation. He keeps saying about a gas though." Cally said sympathetically. "What gas?" Mil moved his legs from under the desk and placed Vespers PADD down. He walked past Cally and went directly to Tallac. He past Ensign Vesper who seemed to recoil at him. "Tallac, wake up" he said nudging his friend. (reply Tallac) "What gas? Where did you breath the gas in?" He pushed for answers. Smelled like sour milk.”    “Doc, if the L.T. was where I think he was the gas was the fire extinguishers, but the heat and radiation might have been at the right levels for its solid systems to vaporize into a triferizine compound.” Ash said   “Yeah, like she said.” He replied sleepily, reclosing his eyes. Mil let his mind do some working out, it sounded like something made up but still, this was Science and Mil was getting worn out from the very long day and more over the constant pain from his arm. "Aimee, pull up the data for any previous infections caused by highly radiadted gas and fire control systems, Cally check over the survivors, others have to be displaying the same symptoms." Mil spun round and saw the two women nodd he headed back to the office with Aimee, he stopped dead in his steps and walked back to Ash "Ensign Vesper, maybe this is the most helpful youve been since I confined you to sickbay, thank you." (reply Vesper) Mil nodded and spun back to face the office "Someone get me a coffee and cream for this arm!" he shouted out heading to his desk.
