Commander Zzt, 14:08) "Sir, I do need you over here, we can do the medical by the door if you want but it would just take longer," Lt. Nicolae said as Zzt looked around Sickbay nervously. Zzt took a tentative step forward sniffing the air and then crinkling his nose as the antiseptic smell burned his nose slightly. ~I bet humans can't even smell it.~ He thought as he looked around sickbay as if he half expected to be swarmed by a group of nurses and doctors. Slowly he made it over to one of the two bio-beds that had been designed and installed specificly for a member of his species. It was considerably longer and wider than the standard bio-bed to Zzt's massive size. Zzt put a paw on the bio-bed cautiously while looking at Nicolae. "We good Nicky?" He asked. (posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - ATT Lt. Commander Zzt - 14:10) "Its ok, come on up," Lt. Nicolae said patting the space on the bio bed besides him. Zzt looked around the room briefly before moving to sit down next to Lt. Nicolae. Zzt wiggled his toe claws aimlessly as he looked at Nicolae and the sensor panel behind the bed. Zzt took a deep breath and then bared his fangs in an approximation of a smile as he looked down at Nicolae. "We done soon?" He asked, fighting the urge to run from the room. After he had moved around the bed he put his hand on Zzts shoulder. He had thought the First Officer was further away, but suddenly the ensign noticed otherwise.  "I wouldn't say I am familiar with the Gamma level of the sensor spectrum but I have seen the pattern in which it operates," the first officer said. "Well sir, the..." Collin paused. He was sure he heard the commander wrong. "I'm sorry sir, I don't believe I follow?" Ensign Hayes said hoping he didn't sound ignorant in front of Commander Jocobs. "It has to do with my ocular implant," Henry said scratching the right side of his head. "Ever since I got this thing I have seen things the normal eye has seen" "Oh," Collin said with out thought and with shock. "Forgive me, I didn't realize that you uh, had that. It must come in handy." Collin finished thinking he did okay. As quickly as the conversation started, it ended. The commander was clearly trying to get a good feel of the officers in the room. Commander Jacobs gave a nod of his head and excused himself from the conversation. He walked away to speak with another science officer.  (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Chief Counselors Office - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei -  13.50) He listened to Caspian  lecture him about doctor patient confidentiality and how he could have obtained that information.  She also warned that whoever gave him the information will pay the price.  He understood this and processed what to do next.  "Very well.  When she gets out of control you know where to find me."  He left the office. (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus - Ten Forward - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 14.10)  He drank some of his Hurricane and looked around to see ENS Vesper at a table.  It was no business of his to interrupt her so he finished his drink and left.  He was concerned for her well being however.  He went to Security to conduct more drills.  Maybe she will confide in him for help soon.  He hoped for her sake that she did. (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus-  Ten Forward - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 14.00)  He walked into Ten Forward and found the bar easy enough.  He sat down at the bar and looked around.  "Give me something real stiff.  It seems my gestures of kindness are not wanted on this ship.  They will find out soon enough that they regret that decision." (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus - Ready Room - CO Captain Eva Straton - 1916) Eva was looking over the current state of the ship in preparation for launch when the door chime sounded. "Enter," She said, not looking up from her terminal screen and her reading until the last moment. "Hello Captain..." Ensign Caspian said, standing at attention. "I'm Ensign Caspian, I figured it was past time we met. I hope you don't mind me coming later, but I knew you were busy and I wanted to get to work." Eva looked the younger woman up and down briefly before speaking. "Ensign," She said evenly, "I take it you have been making productive use of your time on the ship in assisting with getting the ship and crew ready for launch. As we are due to launch in a little over an hour, I am particularly busy at the moment. I shall acknowledge your reporting in on ships log. Perhaps we will have more time to talk once we have left space dock. Now, unless there was something specific you wanted to discuss, I will have to ask you to carry on with your duties." (posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Ready Room - CO & FO Captain Eva Straton & First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs - 20:43)   Eva lead the way into the Ready Room and moved over to the replicator. "Spiced tea, blend #7, iced," She said.  Taking the her drink from the replicator, she moved over to her desk.    "Help yourself to the replicator and have a seat Commander," she said motioning first to the replicator and then one of the chairs in front of her desk.  She sat down behind her desk, took a sip of her drink and waited for the commander to get settled.    Henry remained motionless as his eyes followed the woman in front of him over to the replicator. He listened as she ordered, storing her selection in his memory for later use, and continued to watch as she made her way to her desk.   Henry did not refuse her invitation, he made his way over to the replicator and called out his own selection. "Hazelnut tea, sweet."   Henry retrieved his cup from the receptacle and went for a chair in front of the captain's desk.   "Tell me Commander, why did you volunteer for this post?"  She asked.   The question caught Henry just as he was to take his first sip. Instead of following through with the action he pulled the cup away from his mouth and set it on the desk. He crossed his arms and fashioned an answer.   "I didn't want to be forgotten." He stated.   Eva frowned, not following but said nothing.   "We both know I may have been promoted too quickly to the Captain's chair but that does not mean I am not capable of leading others."   "Cut the crap Commander," Eva said, putting her drink down on the desk.  "No one made you take a reduction in rank.  You did that willingly.  I want to know why, and why you wanted to be on this ship."   At this point Henry was sitting up at attention, his arms no longer crossed.   “There is no crap, only the truth. The Boudicca will be out of commission indefinitely and I will not be sitting on Geneva waiting around to find another assignment. I took the reduction in rank because I wanted to be in space and not stuck on the starbase. Plane and simple.”   Eva could tell that the commander was, at least, being truthful in his answer. Nor did she need to be an empath to feel the hostility between the two of them. ~We need to nip this in the bud.~ She thought as Commander Jacobs continued. “I will carry your orders out to the letter, and will work twice as hard to make sure the crew does the same," He said. Again Eva could tell that at least he believed what he was saying, even if she wasn't so sure. She stared at the man sitting across from her, keenly aware that he was sizing her up just as she was him.  Henry watched the woman on the other side of the desk, especially with his ocular implant. Henry gained enough control of its functions to force spectrum changes implicitly through thought. At this point he was watching her body temperature for any giveaway signs. She may have been a Betazoid and could read minds but Henry had his very own tool to read people and he was reading a novel’s worth from her body temperature readings.    "I am going to be blunt Commander," She said finally, "This," And she indicated the both of them, "Can not and will not stand. While it is not necessary that we like each other, it is necessary that we respect each other. I have to know that no matter what happens I can count on you and vise versa. At the moment, I think it is fair to say that neither of us trusts or respects the other. We have two weeks, the duration of this shake down cruise, to come to and understanding or one of us will not be on board when we again leave space dock. Do I make myself clear Commander?" At this point Henry was fed up with the back and forth and would at least agree to the terms his commanding officer laid out in front of him. He returned from his thoughts just in time to hear her ask if she was understood. Henry obliged and nodded in acknowledgement. "Yes, ma'am," he exclaimed. He waited in his seat until she cleared him to leave. He stood gestured with the cup and walked over to the replicator to put it back into the receptacle. The seconds it took from the replicator to the doors could not have been longer as all he could think about was avoiding having to be in this situation again. No other words needed to be spoken. Henry knew he needed to let it go in order to stay onboard. Eva simply watched him leave before returning her attention to her drink. (Posted by Darryl and Wes) (USS Gannicus – Personal Quarters – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 2300) Henry was comfortably resting on the couch in the living room section of his quarters. Skimming a padd that he held in his left hand he took a sip of the hazelnut tea that he had in the other. He crossed his leg as the information from the padd scrolled down until he had finally finished all of the reading. He placed the padd down on the coffee table in front of him. “Computer begin personal log,“ Henry called out to the empty room. “Let the records show that the launch of the USS Gannicus went on schedule and without a hiccup. It successfully cleared the dock and proceeded to commence with initial warp testing. Currently there were no irregularities detected, hopefully this will remain true for the remainder of the shakedown cruise.” He sipped again from his cup and then put it down next to the padd. “The overall morale of the crew seems to be lifted and I have personally witnessed how flawlessly the two crews are working as one. As it should be. It won ‘t be long before the crew can truly call itself whole. There is one exception to this and that would be the negative relationship that seems to be brooding between myself and Captain Straton. What started off as ‘getting off on the wrong foot’ has matured into an unnatural distrust; One that cannot be allowed to fester if this ship is going to thrive. Earlier this evening we addressed the elephant in the room, coming to the conclusion that we needed to put our differences aside for the better of the ship and the mission. We will see how long this will last. Without respect for each other I doubt it will be long.” Henry grabbed up the padd from the table and tapped it on his knee, thinking about whether or not to continue to work or to retire to bed. A yawn escaped from his mouth which gave him the answer he was looking for. “Computer save and close personal log, allow editing at later date.” The computer beeped in acknowledgement. Henry returned the padd to the table and made his way to his bed to sleep and prepare himself for the remainder of the cruise. (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus - Personal Quarters - CO Captain Eva Straton - 23:45) With her quarters completely dark, Eva sat at her desk sipping a cold drink and missing her husband and kids. She could still feel their presence in the back of her mind, but she still wished they were there with her and not half a galaxy away. Taking another sip of her drink, she pushed the button to activate her terminal. "Computer, begin recording," She said, "Captain's Personal Log: Stardate 2414.09.13. The Gannicus has launched successfully on time and we have now begun our two week shake down cruise. The two crews seem to be blending together fairly well for the most part. However, my new First Officer and I are still at odds. I am not sure I can trust the man despite the fact he is the former captain of the Boudicca. I am unsure where his priorities lay, and will be keeping a close eye on him. The two of us are going to have to forge some kind of working relationship for the shake of the crew and the ship. If the two of us are unable to develop a mutual respect for one another then one or both of us will have to resign from the ship. On another note, I have been approached by Chief Brown in regards to Ensign Vesper. It seems that Chief Brown is concerned for Ensign Vesper's well being and thought I could be of some assistance. I will have to make sure to talk to Lt. Nicolae, our CMO, about the matter in the morning. The next couple weeks promise to be nothing more than a series of drills on the various ships systems and departments to make sure they are all fully ready for active duty. End log." The computer chirped it's acknowledgment that the log file had been recorded and filed into the ships record. Eva deactivated the terminal and sat in the dark nursing her drink. Some time later, she rose and headed to the bed chamber to get some sleep in preparation for the next day. Nicolae's assessment of Ensign Vesper's current state. She was pleased to hear that he was utilizing the counselor and all other resources at his disposal. She would have accepted nothing less. "Very good," She said when Lt. Nicolae had finished speaking, " You will inform myself or Commander Jacobs immediately if at any time you feel it necessary to remove Ensign Vesper from active duty. If you think of anything I, or the commander, can do to be of assistance don't hesitate to ask." (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Ready Roo - CMO lt Mil Nicolae - 0759) "Very good,  You will inform myself or Commander Jacobs immediately if at any time you feel it necessary to remove Ensign Vesper from active duty.  If you think of anything I, or the commander, can do to be of assistance don't hesitate to ask." Mil nodded and looked at the Captain "I will of cause inform you directly if I feel the need. I would however do any medicals myself in the future." Nodding at the Captain he stood and left the room. As the doors closed behind him he glanced across at the frame of Cheif Brown, making a mental note of the conversation. (Posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Ready Room - CO Captain Eva Straton - 08:00) Having got caught up with the over night reports and the ships current status, Eva tapped her comm-badge. "Lt. Nicolae, report to my Ready Room," She said into the open channel. (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Ready Room - CO Captain Eva Straton - 08:10) "Take a seat Lt.," Eva said after Nicolae had entered the room. Eva waited till her new CMO had taken a seat before continuing. "A couple days ago, I was approached by Chief Brown in regards to Ensign Vesper. It seems she is concerned for the well being of her friend and asked me to see what I could do to help. Normally, I am loath to interfere in the medical treatment of any member of my crew. I take doctor patient confidentiality quite seriously. There are procedures in place for the notification of the command staff if a member of the crew is deemed unfit for duty. Having my Operations Chief come to my office and ask me to help is not the proper procedure. I don't know what Ensign Vespers problems may be, but I suggest you get a handle on the matter Lieutenant. I am also concerned that a member of my crew has expressed such a lack of faith in the ability of my new Chief Medical Officer. You are going to have to work on gaining the crews confidence." She paused and took a breath before continuing. "With that all said, in your professional opinion is Ensign Vesper fit for duty and is there anything I can do to help with the situation?" (posted by Wes) ===================================================================== Mission: A Day on the Job Day 4 Stardate: 2414.09.16 ===================================================================== (USS Gannicus - Personal Quarters - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 0214) Collin had waken up from his light sleep. He wasn't for sure why, but he just couldn't sleep. He had a strange suspicion it was because he was going to be off the following shift and was excited to explore the ship. He stood and realized that he was fully awake and no sleeping would be happening that night. He went and changed from his sleeping attire and placed some civilian clothes on.  "Computer, are there any holosuties open for use right now?" Collin crossed his fingers and hoped there was.  [Affirmitive. Holosuite 3 has no scheduled use.] "Perfect! Please put me down for 1 hour of use starting in 5 minutes." [Request Confirmed.] (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Holosuite 3 - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 0219) He stepped into the holosuite to see the normal yellow lines forming thousands of boxes around the room. The whole time he walked to the suite he hadn't even thought about what he was going to do once he got there, but now that he was there he knew right away.  "Computer, start ensign level target practice with hand phaser." Collin passed all of his weaponry training, but honestly he wasn't that great. It was something he had hoped he would have a done a little better on.  The room around him turned black, and he was standing on a 3 meter silver platform. On a small stand at the edge of the platform was a stand that held a single hand phaser. He walked over to pick it up.  As soon as the phaser was released from its position the practice began. A single red dot of light began to move around the black room. Standing on the platform Collin began to follow the target. He fired. Missed. He waited patiently and fired again. Missed. Knowing he shouldn't have even tried without first calling for an instructor he did so then.  "Computer, activate target practice instructor." The computer beeped and suddenly another person, female, appeared on the platform.  "Collin, here for a little practice are you. From the database, I can see that you missed your first two attempts. I was able to analyze your stance and you should really follow the proper protocol when firing a weapon." The instructor showed Collin how she meant.  Collin followed the instructor's lead and did as she did. Once he was in the right position he pointed the phaser toward the black void. The red light appeared again, and Collin followed it. Once he thought he had the target in his sights he fired. Missed.  "Keep your wrist straight," the instructor suggested.  The light continued to roll around the room. He aimed again, thought hard about his stance and wrist, pushing the trigger, the phaser fired. It sent a short beam of energy toward the red light. Hit! Collin was happy he finally hit it, but was frustrated it took so long for him to do so. The instructor spoke up behind him, "Good. Now lets do it again." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Atmospheric Recycling Manifold - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 1404) It wasn't anything exciting, but someone had to do it. Collin pushed a few of the green lighted buttons on the control panel of the manifold for it to run a sample test. Seconds later the small collection tube was full of the recycled air that was currently circulating on the ship. Although the ship's computer automatically did a continuous sensor check on the ventilation system, standard protocol stated that a science officer must do a sample check on a regular basis.  Collin took the collection tube out and placed it in a compartment specific for the tube inside of his science kit. Closing the lid, he pushed in a few commands on the outside of he kit for the it to come alive. The kit was now taking the sample inside of the tube and running its own internal analysis. Further, it gave Ensign Hayes a microscopic view of the contents on a small view screen on the outside of the kit. Collin took a careful look at it, and made a few notes in the PADD he was holding. It seemed that all was well and within safety limits. He just now needed to patiently wait for the kit to finish its analysis.  It didn't take too much longer for it to do so, and the kits confirmed the ensign's conclusion as well. He quickly packed up the kit and PADD and left the oh so silent room.  (posted by Calvin Capps) ======================================================================== Mission: A Day on the Job Day 6 Stardate: 2414.09.18 ======================================================================== (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 14.20)  He heard the order and made some notes on his PADD before leaving the Bridge to carry out the preparations. "OK People.  We have our orders.  We have three hours to secure the ship for a possible influx of 500 civilians.  Secure all sensitive areas on the ship and prepare for a mass evacuation situation.  Lets move."  (Reply Security iyw) (USS Gannicus – Bridge - CO Captain Eva Straton - 14:35) Eva was sitting in the command chair watching the crew work. The shake down cruise had been days of drills after drills, analyzing those drills, fine tuning any ship system that didn't perform to spec and then running those drills again. In short it got monotonous very quickly for those not directly involved, meaning Eva was quite bored. All she really did was ready departmental status reports, one after another after another. So far the crew had been performing well enough that she had done over the past few days was sit back and watch. Something she was never very good at doing, preferring to be very hands on. ~The true test of ship and crew won't come till lives are really at stake.~ She thought as she watched an operations team move across the Bridge. As if on que, the OPS console chirped suddenly. "Captain," Chief Brown said after a second, "We are receiving a distress call from the civilian transport ship 'Myla's Dream'." "On screen," Eva ordered, sitting up straight in her chair. The view screen changed from a view of the passing stars to a screened filled at first with static and then the dirty and bleeding face of a Bolian man. =/\=This is the transport ship Myla's Dream. [static].. experienced an explosion in our engine room...[static]...life support failing. [static]...dead or injured. Requesting immediate assistance. [static]=/\= "Plot an intercept course," Eva ordered as the message started to repeat. "and engage at maximum warp. Pull up all data on the Myla's Dream. How soon till intercept?" "At maximum warp it will take us three hours to arrive at their current location," Chief Brown answered after checking her board for a moment. "Myla's Dream is a civilian transport vessel, transporting 500 colonists and live stock to Altepe 3, with a crew of 150." Eva frowned as she digested the data. "Inform Sickbay to be prepared for unknown number of casualties. Have cargo bay's 1 and 2 converted to a triage area. Cargo bays 3 and 4 prepared to serve as makeshift sleeping quarters in case we need to evacuate everyone to the Gannicus." She could feel the ship changing course and accelerating as she turned to the security station. "Lt. Trei, make sure all sensitive areas of the ship are secured and that security is ready in case we need to evacuate the civilians." She then looked over at Commander Jacobs. "XO, have your away team prepped and ready to transport once we are within transporter range." Eva looked at the main view screen and the stars streaking by. ~Baptism by fire for us it seems.~ She thought hoping the ship and crew were up to the challenge that lay ahead of them. (posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - CMO Lt Mil Nicolae - 1440) The days had been long and tiring, he could see the Sickbay was running smoothly and everyone was ready for work. The extra drills Mil had planned in for some of the lesser experienced. Staff was starting to pay off.   Walking up aside Aimee he touched her arm, they hadn't spent much time together due to the nature of the shake downs but Mil hoped this would change. He smiled at the woman that was changing his life and moved off to another part of the room.   =/\= Sickbay prepare for Major Trauma situation, ETA three hours =/\= Cheif Brown's voice bellowed into the room. Mil stood in silence he looked around the room. They had been running drills for the last few days this had a sense of urgency in it. Tapping his badge Mil tried to figure out what was going on. "Cheif, is this a drill?" =/\= Negative Sir, we are enroute to a damaged transport, 500 at risk. You have Cargo bays one and two at your disposal=/\= "Understood Cheif" Mil tapped the channel closed. As his conversation continued more and more staff had stopped and listened. Mil moved quickly to the duty office and opened the small container to pull out the emergency protocols. Rushing out the office he started calling staff. "Right, you all heard that. We need to move NOW. Aimee set up your theatre in main Sickbay. Emergency triage in Cargo bay one, recovery and obs in cargo bay two " (reply Bracken) "Nurse start transporting all non essential equipment out of the Sickbay and to storage rooms." "Nurse Simms take a team down to the cargo bays and start setting up." Mil swung round back to the office as Sickbay flew into life. "Computer display all off duty medical staff." The screen sprung to life. He then hit his comm badge "Delta shift report for duty Cargo bay two" Again he tapped his badge "Ensigns Caspian and Nobel report to Sickbay immediately." (reply Caspian and Nobel) Mil ran back to office and started checking the process again, he then pulled up the available data on the ship. Skimming over the issues and potential difficulties he checked there was enough staff to deal.   (posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus – Bridge - Ops CPO Janey Brown - 1441) Janeys hand was flowing from screen to screen, she was desperately trying to keep up with every command and reply coming in. Having just completed the conversation with Lt Nicolae she tried to catch up with everything else. On a side screen she sent operations teams down to the cargo bays to support and ensured there was a transporter officer around to operate the cargo bay transporters. "Operations dpt is coordinating with all vital departments, teams are heading down to the cargo bays to support the alterations." She called out to anyone that was listening. =/\= Bridge this is Sickbay, do we know how many people will be  requiring medical attention on arrival?=/\= ~for crying out loud~ Janey thought, as if they didn't have enough to do without answering silly little questions. She hit the comm "All we know is worst case there could be near to 650 personell to support. It is looking like an explosion in Engineering." Janey closed the channel. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Security office - ATAC Lt jg Tallac Dragovar - 14:42)  Dragovar began to figure out how to secure the sensitive areas of the ship. He crossed to the big display on the wall for a birds eye view Assigning two man guards to the access points of each area, he armed them with phaser rifles and tactical vests. His idea was to intimidate the refuges into staying away, while the rest of his security team would have hand phasers only, to assist them and to look much friendlier. The old good cop/ bad cop routine worked fine.  Examining the route from the transporter room to the cargo bays, he assigned a pair of guards at each turn. He grimaced at how thin this was going to stretch the troops.  He turned to Trei. “We are spread pretty thin as regards experienced men for a job of this size, sir.”   (Reply Trei)  “If we use some of the marines to guard the critical areas of the ship it will mean we can have enough men for a QRF if necessary?”  (Reply Trei) {Assuming yes here, if not I’ll re-write}  “Understood sir. A stricken ship is a favourite method pirates have used previously to board ships. Takes a real brass pair to try it on a Starfleet vessel, but desperate men do crazy things.” Dragovar had used the same tactic back in his mercenary days to get onto enemy vessels.  “If there is going to be an attempt on the ship, there will either be bad guys in amongst the refugees, or another ship hiding and waiting to pounce. There are too many to stop and search each refugee so we’ll have to rely on the scanners and our guts to catch anyone.” (Posted by Tim) (USS Gannicus – Engineering - CEO Ensign Vesper - 1443) ~Great another five hundred people i need to provide power for, happy days~ Ash moved into her office and pressed her comm channel. "Vesper to sickbay." (reply Sickbay) She recognised the voice on the other side but kept a professional tone, "I have two engineering teams standing by to assist you in preparing any facilities that you need. They are completely at your disposal." (reply Sickbay) "Affirmative," Ash looked up and pointed out her door, "Jonas take them over to the cargo bay two. They are on their way. Anything else you need let me know." She tapped her comm badge and closed the channel. "Computer display technical specifications: Myla's Dream." A large screen illuminated the room as the diagram rotated round showing every subtle curve to the ship. The information passed to her showed failures in the ships engines and support systems. Quickly she typed a list of equipment that might be useful in getting the ship functional again. Signalling a crewman she indicated that she wanted the equipment ready for transport if required. She tapped her comm badge once more, "Vesper to Jacobs, I have emergency supplies being prepared for transport. I am available to beam over to assess any damage if required." (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - CMO Lt Mil Nicolae - 1444) Checking the data on Mylas Dream Mil started reviewing the layout and available crew data for a heads up around numbers. =/\=Vesper to sickbay.=/\= Mil rolled his eyes ~little busy~ "Sickbay here" Mil half gruffed. =/\= I have two engineering teams standing by to assist you in preparing any facilities that you need. (posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus - Security - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 14.45)  He listened to what Tactical Chief Dragovar had to say and agreed with most of his suggestions.  He had another idea to prepare for a quick response team but without the use of the Holodeck it will be difficult to execute.  He nodded in agreement that the disabled transport ship looked like a pirate mercenary plot.  He has been involved with a few during his service to the fleet.  He turned to face Dragovar.  "I agree this looks like a pirate mercenary plot.  The experience of our men is low in this regard and thin in the ranks but I trust they will be strong warriors in the effort.  Lets try to run off each other to sharpen our reflexes for a potential boarding scenario.  I'll start." He moved to mock attack Dragovar as to take him out.  Dragovar's hand to hand skills were excellent but his Klingon Warrior skills were a level better.  He subdued Dragovar and patted him on the shoulder for a good effort.  He took a defensive position for the advance of Dragovar. (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - ACMO Ltjg Aimee Bracken - 1446) Aimee sighed, stretching her neck muscles against the tiredness that had almost set in to the bone. The last few days had been incredibly busy, but sickbay was nearly at a point where things were running well enough to pass her exacting standard.   She felt Mil gently touch her arm as he passed, sending a shiver down her spine as it always did when he touched her. She opened her mouth to speak to him, they hadn’t had much time to be together recently; the communicator broke the moment. =/\= Sickbay prepare for Major Trauma situation, ETA three hours =/\= Cheif Brown's voice bellowed into the room. He bulldozed into Trei, dropping a shoulder into his stomach, the rising, lifting the klingon off the floor before throwing him down to the mat. He was then was on top of him with his forearm over his throat.   “No-one used to spar with me on the Hades.” He said with a grin as he stood and offered a hand to Trei. “I don’t fight fair. I don’t use martial arts because they are predictable. I just go in and put them down.”   (reply Trei)   “Can you use the Bat’leth?” He asked. “I would love to try my longsword and dirk against that some day.”   (reply Trei)   “I need to go and sort out the security for the Hangers. I look forward to our next engagement.” He nodded as a parting salute and left the office (Posted by Tim) (USS Gannicus - Security - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 14.49) Dragovar rammed him to the floor then raised a forearm to his throat.  Dragovar offered his hand to help him off the floor.  He then told him of never having anyone to spar with on the Hades.  Dragovar asked if he could use a Battlaff.  He responded. "I have extensive experience with the Battlaff in warrior training and some tournaments I have participated in winning once.  You will do well not to continue down the road of dishonor by fighting dirty.  My family will not stop until you learn the lesson of honor." He was pleased to have someone to spar with but the next attack like that will mean his death. (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 1450) Collin remained at his station and looked upon the view screen as all the information from the Myla's Dream was conveyed. Unfortunately, the information was not a lot at all. The Gannicus' crew was only able to understand there was an explosion in the engine room. This information could mean several different scenarios. Was there an explosion and it only knocked out the ability of the engines to produce energy, or was the warp core effected and was now spreading dangerous radioactive gases through the ship.  For Ensign Hayes he paid more attention to the dangerous gases than the engineering stability of the ship as that wasn't his specialty. He targeted the sensors that were available to him as the science officer on the bridge, and ran several different scans targeting for gas emissions that would be normally found with an engine explosion. When the results came back Collin had to weed out the normal substances found in deep space. He was able to detect antimatter radiation in the area which he could only conclude as this time, without more intensive scans. "Sir, sensors shows antimatter radiation in the area. This could be the result of hull breaches along with a warp core containment failure. I suggest the away team be prepared for areas of the ship to be non-reachable." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - CMO lt Mil Nicolae - 1510) "Ensign Nobel, I need you to head down to Cargo Bay two and head up the resus and obs beds, use whoever you need." Mil turned to Ensign Caspian "Liz, I know you're not technically med staff but with your triage knowledge I need you to work in Cargo bay one and support the triage. We are looking at potential radiation burns as their Engine room has had an explosion." He looked at both the Ensigns "do you both feel up to that?" (reply Nobel and Caspian) Mil looked at both of them and waited their replies. After he had dismissed them he walked back into the office. ~maybe now is the time to try these~ he thought pulling out the small silver package. Since the move to medical Mil had been working on a prototype tactical medical kit, allowing the field medics more space and freedom. He placed the pack on the desk and picked up the PADD and headed to the cargo bays.   (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Cargo Bay one - CMO Ltjg, Mil Nicolae - 1520) Mil walked slowly down the corridor, there were med and engineering staff rushing around brushing past each other he walked into Cargo Bay one and spotted nurse Simms "How is it going?" (reply Simms) Mil nodded and walked around the perimeter of the room, the beds had started moving in and many of them now set up, soon it would look like a war zone rather than a hospital. "We will have it all going by then, dont you worry," he replied. ~Urgh i really do not like that man, so smug arrogant. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Main Bridge – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 1530) Calm and collected, Henry immediately started formulating an away team to take over to ‘Myla’s Dream’. It was obvious from the condition of the man on the screen that there were likely casualties on the ship which forced the need of a qualified medical person to join the team. Ensign Noble came to mind. The CMO would have his hands full with the incoming injuries from the other ship and therefore needed to stay on the ship to coordinate. Agreeing with the decision he made he marked down the name on his command chair’s armrest. ~Lt. Trei already has orders from the captain,~ Henry thought to himself while trying to recall the name of the next senior security officer. Reading the display on his chair he came across Lt. Dragovar’s name. A security presence was a must as there was no telling what was going on on ‘Myla’s Dream.’ In this situation there really was no need for any science personnel to transport over considering it was a rescue mission. There would be a need however, for a highly qualified engineer to safely and quickly repair the engine to ensure the safety of everyone else around in the immediate area. The Gannicus could spare Ensign Vesper to make the necessary repairs. Henry continued to add names down to the list on his armrest, adding in filler security and medical personnel to even out the list. Next Henry plotted the best point of beam in. Close enough to put them in proximity of the engineering room yet with enough space that transport was not interrupted. The time had passed and everyone else quickly moved to their individual tasks scurrying around the room as Henry watched just before addressing those he had just assigned to the away team. He stood and tapped at his commbadge. “Lt. Dragovar, Ensigns Noble and Vesper you will need to meet me in the observation lounge in one hour. We will be discussing an away team mission over to ‘Myla’s Dream’ once we intercept.” (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus - Cargo Bay 1 - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 15.50) He walked around Cargo Bay 1 inspection the setup.  It looked like it will do the job but he wasn't concerned with the medical job it was to perform.  He was however  quite concerned with how secure it will be when the civilians file in.  He walked up to Simms. He sighed and continued, "Vesper asked the medical teams equipment to be put closest to the doors that should allow our people easy access in and out while being able to watch the doors. Why dont you talk to Engineer Jonas over there about the rest of the setup. Vesper left... him... in charge." (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Cargo Bay 1 - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 15.55)  Nurse Sanders responded with a defensive account of the layout of the room.  He understood  the reaction but grumbled something in Klingon when he passed the buck to ENS Jonas.  The act of passing the buck did not please him but he nodded that he understood the assessment.  "Very well Mr. Sanders.  Thank you for the information." ~ it will greatly benefit you not to patronize me in the future if you want to live~ He walked over to ENS Jonas and asked him the same question he asked Sanders. He looked firstly at Jonas, this wasn't the conversation for the Ensign. "Ensign, you're dismissed" (reply Jonas) "Firstly, I'm concerned that you're only posting two guards to the Cargo Bays. I in the past have used four or five for transporting around 30 prisoners, so would have expected far more than two for almost 700 people." He took a moment not allowing Trei to reply "Further more, it is not the job of the medical staff to do the work of Security, I would never have allowed that to happen. You seem to have the attitude that the engineers and med staff have to prevent an ambush. Please don't mistake me, the security team from the Hades would be more than able to sort a mess, I just hope your guys can also." Mil took a step closer to the man, his blood boiling over, he felt such an anger swell inside "If you ever have any concerns surrounding the wellbeing of the crew medically, I suggest you bring them to me no one else. I hope I make myself clear." Mil stepped back and allowed Trei to respond. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus - Cargo Bay 1 - Engineer Jonas - 1603) Mil also allowed his face to toughen up. Looking around he picked up a PADD and typed a few things, he accessed the LCARS system and pulled up the protocols for containing such situations. "You will find everything you need now on this PADD. In addition, I have given orders to use the Morgue and Med Lab one as decontamination rooms, provided the filters in the transporters work to their full we shouldn't need to use them for anyone other than med staff. You wouldn't have found that information out by asking a nurse, one of the senior doctors maybe, but Nurse Sanders most definitely not. Some data was being extrapolated that would take some time, and possibly not even be ready when the Gannicus arrived at Myla's Dream.  He sat at one of the standard 4 person square tables with a food of tray already in hand. Instead of using the complimentary waiter service he simply stopped at the replicator and ordered his own food and drink. He ordered himself a light meal knowing that the rest of his shift might be busy on the bridge and didn't want to have an over bloated stomach.  As he ate his sandwich he looked around the room and watched the people surrounding him. A deep feeling of loneliness developed. He realized for the first time, he had been on the ship over 6 days, and he really hasn't met anyone yet. He has been going on his shifts meeting some of the crew in the science department, but hadn't really taken any real steps toward friendship with any of them. For dinner and lunch he would normally go to his quarters and read up on reports or study instead of going Ten Forward to meet the crew from other departments.  He looked at his food and didn't really feel all that hungry any longer. He slapped the sandwich down on his plate and stared out in space. There really wasn't anything he could do now. He had to be back on the bridge soon. He sat at the table and promised himself the next opportunity he gets he is going to meet someone new. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 1618) As customary with Henry’s work ethic, the commander made his way to the observation lounge a few minutes in advance of the others in order to set up for the briefing. He walked through the swishing doors with a pile of padds clenched between both his arms, stopping at each chair to place one down for everyone that would be in attendance. No meeting would be off to a good start if Henry did not start it off with a cup of Hazelnut tea, something he picked up from many meetings with many people. He did not want to continue the bad habit he picked up as an engineer, downing pots of coffee in replacement of something less damaging to the body. Walking back to his chair with cup in hand Henry over to his seat and slowly sat down. Ensign Vesper was the first person Jacobs saw enter the room. It was evident on her face that she was actively immersed in preparation before the Gannicus reached Myla’s Dream. She seemed to be running the show from the large padd she was operating from. In fact she was so immersed in her work that she had not even noticed or acknowledged Henry’s presence. “Ensign,” Henry greeted. He smiled so that her eyes could catch a more upbeat side of his personality, a change from the side she had seen of him before. (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus - Ten Forward - CEO Ensign Vesper - 1619)   "Whaa," he started to say. "Oh, oh yea, gosh that almost feels like ages ago. I guess I have been super busy lately. What am I talking about, I can't be as busy as you are." His mind changed subjects. "What are you eating."   "Oh this," said Ash munching a bite out of it, "It has to be the best thing ever created. Two slices of bread perfectly square, lightly buttered with two centimetres of tuna filling layered with pickle."   "Tuna? Isn't that something you feed cats?" Collin asked. As he waited for a response he took another bite of his sandwich. He all of a sudden felt like eating again.   "Well... when you put it like that it doesn't sound as dramatic," she laughed, looking Collin over. He looked a tad out of sorts to her and she had an inkling why, "How are you settling in? It must be difficult to get to know people being so busy." (reply Collin) "Well let me tell you a secret... I don't actually know most of my staffs names yet. Well I know the names, I just can't put a face to it," she decided she would reminisce a little and hopefully settle his nerves, "In fact I was so bad I used to play Talerian Tag ages ago on the weekend. It was the only time I saw these people. Can I tell you their names, not a chance! I got though the year calling them by the shirt numbers. Not polite... but it worked for me." (posted by Adam)   (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1620) “Ensign,” Henry greeted. Ash jumped back slightly she had not noticed anyone else in the room, "Sir." Slumping back into a seat she thought about asking a few questions about the stricken ship, but quickly reconsidered deciding it would be best to wait till everyone was present. Typing at her PADD she looked up briefly to speak, "Sorry Sir, there is much to get sorted in a short time. It looks like everything will be in place  for when we arrive." (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1625) Sitting in the empty observation lounge Ash looked out the window as the stars flew past, oddly it relaxed her and drew attention away from a pain niggling in her head. Looking at her PADD of the latest reports coming through. ~Jonas, good you have the cargo bays ready~ Tapping away she noted some additional orders for them to watch the transporters and power grid ready for the sudden influx of people. She spun her chair round back to the empty desk and waited for others to arrive. (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae – 1627) The doors opened and the first person to draw his eye was Ensgin Vesper ~awkward~ Smiling at her Mil sat a few seats down, leaving a space between the pair, he knew she wasn't a fan of drs and he would probably be top of that list. "Ensign." Mil nodded making small talk. He hadn't forgotten the conversation with the Captain about her the other day. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1628) "Ensign." Mil nodded making small talk. Ash nodded back, "Chief" There was a brief awkward pause. Placing her PADD on the table she glanced at Mil, "Are we planning to get any injections before sending anyone over? The ship uses a type five fusion reactor. It may have been damaged be leaking." (reply Mil) She nodded again, picking up her PADD. "I see." (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae – 1629) After a moment Ash placed her PADD on the table. "Are we planning to get any injections before sending anyone over? The ship uses a type five fusion reactor. It may have been damaged be leaking." Having a small cough Mil looked across "oh defiantly, we will be undergoing a treatment of Hyronalin, it should keep any radiation at bay. Also, if needed I'm sure I can patch us all up. She nodded again, picking up her PADD. "I see." Mil looked at the woman he seized his moment. "Ashley, I'm not trying to harm you, I'm trying to help you, no one knows what is wrong and I'm just doing my job." (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Sickbay - Med - Lt Tristan Dodge -   1630) Tristan passed through the doors he and his team had been called for duty, he wasn't too pleased a dream date with a dabo girl was calling him but duty was a strong mistress. The breif conversation with Lt Nicolae had been as enlightening as normal, more of  monologue than a briefing. But regardless he had his orders, work along side the lead shifts and Dr Caspian to support in triage and treating the wounded crewmen. He headed down to the cargo bays to see what support he could supply. (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Outside the Observation Lounge – ATAC LT jg Tallac Dragovar 1631)   =/\=My authorisation codes do not work.=/\= The chief armourer said. =/\= I cannot issue the phasers as requested. =/\=   Dragovar rolled his eyes in exasperation. It was one thing after another at the moment. He crossed to a console and entered his codes. “I have unlocked the armoury for you now. Contact engineering to get your codes sorted out.” He shook his head at the naivety of some of the crew, then swore as he notice the briefing had started one minute ago.  “Dammit” he muttered as he entered the room.   The first officer gave him a look saying he shouldn’t have been late, then began.   “In approximately one hour we will intercept the Myla’s Dream. I want you all to look around and familiarize yourself with your crew mates because we will be working together once we beam over to the ship to find out what happened and to render any assistance needed. To start I would like to hear any suggestions on any equipment we may need to carry over with us to the other ship.”   Dragovar waited for the others to finish before putting in his wish-list   “Maybe some low level explosives for larger debris, hand phasers for everyone, phaser rifles for my guys. I would also recommend everyone carry a knife. We have no way of knowing what we may find” Dragovar said. “Other than that it is down to the engineers.”   “Safety is our major concern, this being the case Lt. Dragovar will take point with the two other security officers bringing up the rear.”   “I’ll take Ferguson and Barrie.” He noted on his Padd. “I’ve worked with them for a fair while; we know how each other operates and moves.” (Posted by Tim) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 1633) Henry let the conversation continue between Mill and Vesper until he felt the need to jump in and get to business. Lt. Dragovar slipped into the briefing just past 1630, something that Henry would address at another moment. Henry cleared his throat and moved right along to the issue that they all were gathered for. “In approximately one hour we will intercept the Myla’s Dream. I want you all to look around and familiarize yourself with your crew mates because we will be working together once we beam over to the ship to find out what happened and to render any assistance needed. To start I would like to hear any suggestions on any equipment we may need to carry over with us to the other ship.” (reply Vesper, Mil, Dragovar) Henry nodded his head, agreeing with what was being said by the others in the room. “Next we need to discuss the safest yet most efficient route to the engine room. Preliminary scans have already shown that we will not be able to beam directly into the room.” Henry adjusted the way he was sitting and then tapped a button in front of him. In response, the computer produced a holographic, three dimensional diagram of the Myla’s Dream blue prints. There was a blinking green area that pinpointed the drop zone where the away team would beam in. Using his hands to manipulate the rendering, Henry stretched the diagram to zoom in on the glowing area, where seven holographic people, representing the away team, stood. Hitting another command on the console the renderings followed a highlighted path which showed how the away team would make it from the beam in site to the engine room. “Lt. Nicolae, please share with everyone the inoculations we will be taking.” (reply Mil) “Safety is our major concern, this being the case Lt. Dragovar will take point with the two other security officers bringing up the rear.” The route had been discussed and safety precautions addressed. The only thing left to talk about was the actual work that would be done once they all got over there. “Ensign Vesper, what kind of damage are we looking at in the engine room. What do scans show and do you think the collective knowledge between you and myself will be all we need to make necessary repairs?” (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1634) “In approximately one hour we will intercept the Myla’s Dream. I would recommend taking a portable generator with us along with some structural field generators. We also have some radiation siphon's in case their engines have suffered any serious damage. The standard repair kit will also be a must." (reply Jacobs, Mil, Dragovar) Henry nodded his head, “Next we need to discuss the safest yet most efficient route to the engine room. The ship itself has been modified over the years by various owners and is a mash of old and new components." She placed her PADD on the table face up and tapped it. "This is a schematic of the ships engine core. Scans are unclear in this area due to a radiation leak. We hypothesise that the engine has fractured along these main support struts. They highlighted in bright red. I don't think we will have any trouble between us, we will need to get into the engine room to repair it though. Would we need another booster before going in?" (Posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae – 1637) Since Ashley didn't really reply to Mil he settled back as the Commander started talking. He explained that they would be working together, lucky then that Mil was capable of holding his own, but the thought of working with Vesper did worry him slightly, he made a note to express his concerns with the Commander when the room was empty. After asking what equipment was needed Vesper spoke. “I have some heavy equipment set-up in engineering ready to transport over as and when we might need it. I would recommend taking a portable generator with us along with some structural field generators. We also have some radiation siphon's in case their engines have suffered any serious damage. The standard repair kit will also be a must." Mil made a few notes on his PADD and then also spoke. "I would suggest taking transport enhancers to allow us to beam multiple persons. The standard medical equipment will be provided. It may weigh people down but if we are looking at an entire engineering crew incapacitated I would like any of you with medical experience to carry small med kits I can put together." Mil placed the small kit on the desk. He opened it. "as opposed to normal med kits this only contains a hypospray its pre loaded with only morphine, a small dose to allow some comfort from their pain. Also there is a small dermal regenerater to allow treatment for radiation burns." He closed the kit. "On a personal note, I would like to try out a prototype tricorder I have been developing, it an update to the wrist devices. Of course I will carry a normal tricorder also." Mil finished and pulled the two objects closer to him. Henry nodded his head, “Next we need to discuss the safest yet most efficient route to the engine room.. Preliminary scans have already shown that we will not be able to beam directly into the room.” “Lt. Nicolae, please share with everyone the inoculations we will be taking.” Jacobs continued. "I would suggest a treatment of lectrazine and hyronalin, designed to protect against the radiation. I would rather us being in environmental suits." Mil Finished. Jacobs explained the process for security and then turned the table to Vesper again, questioning the damage. She explained about the age of the craft and the issues in hand. Flashing up on the screen he looked at the engine room he made notes again. "I don't think we will have any trouble between us, we will need to get into the engine room to repair it though. Would we need another booster before going in?" Vesper finished. "Depends on the levels of antimatter and such, what exactly will we be facing? (posted by Mat) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1638) "Depends on the levels of antimatter and such, what exactly will we be facing? "To scatter our scans like this. I would be expecting extremely high levels. The reactors are old, I can only expect any leakage will be bordering lethal." Ash tilted her head to one side displaying her neck, "It might be an idea to get rid of this contraption before going in case the radiation turns this into a shock collar." (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CMO Lt Mil Nicolae – 1645) Mil faced Ash as she spoke, it was good to see the level of knowledge from her. It seemed a lifetime away from the engineer that kept getting on his nerves. "To scatter our scans like this. I would be expecting extremely high levels. The reactors are old, I can only expect any leakage will be bordering lethal. It might be an idea to get rid of this contraption before going in case the radiation turns this into a shock collar." Ash bore her neck for Mil. Resisting the urge to drum his fingers on the desk again he picked up his PADD and started working out the calculations needed. "If the radiation is hitting lethal levels I must officially protest our going into the engine room. If I had been given the time to start us all on treatment plans then we have enough medicine in our bodies to withstand for a short period of time. The human body still isn't designed to be battered with radiation. Whilst I understand the need to mount a rescue mission I cannot allow us to knowingly place officers in a life or death situation. That I want placed on the record sir." (reply Jacobs) "However, my personal not professional opinion is to stuff the rules and fix the heap of crap." (reply any) Mil picked up his PADD and worked out a few more calculations. "Provided we have an hour before beaming over I can double the dose now, again before transport and finally once again before entering the engine room. It should at least give us a fighting chance. On a tactical note," he turned to his old number two "i would strongly advise against taking weapons into the engine room or near the high levels of radiation, we don't want to ignite it." (reply Dragovar) Mil stood and walked to the replicator. Entering his access codes he replicated several small vials. Walking back to the desk he opened the small med kit he had shown before. He pulled out the hypo and started administering the medication. Walking finally up to Ash he pressed a few buttons into the device on her neck. He pulled a long thin probe from his pocket and removed the device. Then pressed the hypo to her neck. "Dont think for a second that you won't be getting this back, you're still my concern" he spoke softly into her ears as he worked. (reply Ash) He passed four vials across to Tallac for his guys not present at the briefing. "one last thing from me sir, once we are back from the ship I will need each and everyone of you to report to Sickbay so I can check for radiation poisoning and ensure we are all decontamination. If needed I will confine any officer to Sickbay for treatment, regardless of the ships situation" as he said the last sentence he turned to Ash hoping she would understand what he was saying.   (posted by Mat)   (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – CEO Ensign Vesper – 1646) Mil removed the device from her neck. ~Oh.. that feels much better Ash. Tell me about it~ "Dont think for a second that you won't be getting this back, you're still my concern" he spoke softly into her ears as he worked. Ash sighed slightly, she knew it would only be a short reprieve but there was no need for those words. She responded in kind quietly, "Don't worry, I'll be a good girl and wear it like a ring." He passed four vials across to Tallac for his guys not present at the briefing. As Jacobs continued Ash rolled her eyes before nodding slightly. ~I suppose so, but if im needed else where like hell im waiting to get another medical~ (posted by Adam)   (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – ATAC LT JG Tallac Dragovar - 1647)   On a tactical note, I would strongly advise against taking weapons into the engine room or near the high levels of radiation, we don't want to ignite it." Mil said as Tallac eyed him with some trepidation.   “You are just full of the glad tidings of spring.” He smiled back. “I’ve already instructed Ferguson and Barrie to bring along knives, and another melee weapon of some form in case of trouble. We still have a load of the stuff we used a while back on when we routed the Cardassian guards with bows, arrows and swords.”   He tucked the vials for the hypospray into his pocket, before exposing his neck  for his own dose. “All the arrangements have been made for the refugees. The marines are going to guard the vital areas of the ship, while security escort them anywhere the need to go. The boss has it all well in hand. Just remind me to put a book in the decontamination area before we go.” (Posted by Tim) (USS Gannicus – Observation Lounge – First Officer Commander Henry Jacobs – 1648) The briefing was well underway and everyone at this point seemed both intrigued and willing to participate. Henry merely laid down the facts and the rest of the crew took off with the conversation, each adding pertinent information about the task at hand. Henry took a mental note as well as entered on his padd each suggestion that the away team members thought necessary to bring on the mission. The list was getting extensive and before long Henry could see that they would be more than prepared. How they would be carrying all this over to the Myla’s Dream was a totally different story. Of course with the pattern enhancers it would facilitate bringing over all the equipment but once over there it seemed like a lot for them to carry. The briefing carried on as everyone chimed in with their input.   (Posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Gannicus – Bridge - CO Captain Eva Straton - 17:34) "Full sensor sweep," Eva ordered as the ship was now within seconds of the location of the Myla's Dream. The red alert lights flashed their rhythmic dance as the ship was ready for any possible ambush. "Drop us out of warp 200,000 kilometers away from the ship and take us in at three quarters impulse, Eva ordered, "Shields up, weapons on standby." The Gannicus dropped out of warp...and the world exploded into chaos. Alarms sounded all over the Bridge as the deck heaved nearly throwing Eva from her chair. Crew members standing where thrown about the Bridge like dolls as consoles exploded in a shower of sparks and smoke. The lights on the Bridge flickered, went out and were replaced by the emergency lights. Eva had to hold onto her seat as the deck slanted first to starboard then port and then forward. Some lose flying debris bounced off Eva's head as it flew across the bridge. Stars swam in her vision briefly as she tried to make out what had hit her. She could taste the familiar taste of blood in her mouth as the ship continued it's roller coaster ride sending crew and equipment flying to and fro. "Report!" Eva bellowed across the screaming alarms, as the ship finally settled back down. As she stood, Eva noticed that the deck was slanting heavily to port. "Main power off line,"Chief Brown replied, still holding onto her console as if for dear life. "We are on auxiliary power only. Internal gravity has failed on decks 9 through 11, as well as Decks 17, and 19, and is out of alignment throughout the ship it would seem." She finished looking at the steeply tilted deck. "Our shields are down and weapons are off line," came the report from tactical. "Warp power and impulse power are both off line. Working to reestablish main power," Lt. Jericho replied from the engineering station. "What happened?" Eva asked turning to look at the science station to see it a blackened out husk still bellowing smoke. "External sensors are off line," came the reply from the secondary science station. Eva cursed silently to herself. "We need sensors." She ordered, "and get a medical team to the Bridge," She knelt down to help a wounded crewman get back on their feet. "Reroute emergency power to external sensors," She continued as she moved slowly around the Bridge helping where she could. "External sensors are coming back on line," Ensign Kingston said a few seconds later. She frowened as she looked over the read outs. There was a pause as she seemed to run the scan again and then again not believing what she was seeing. Finally she turned to look at Captain Straton. "Sir," She said, "a sub-space tear has formed 150,000 kilometers aft. The Myla's Dream is dangerously close to the tear and is in immediate jeopardy of being pulled in and destroyed." "Tractor beam," Eva asked turning from Ensign Kingston back to Chief Brown. "Partial power," Chief Brown replied a second latter. "Not enough to pull it to safety." "But enough to anchor it," Eva said, moving back to her seat, "Lock onto the Myla's Dream and then engage full thrusters away from the tear. Maybe as we move we can drag the Dream along with us." (Posted by Wes) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - Science Officer Ensign Collin Hayes - 1736) Collin had remained at the science console for most of his shift except for a lunch break. En route to their destination he diligently worked over the data the computer systems were producing. Most of it was standard space faring debris that had no relevance to their needs. The ship was prepared to drop out of warp, and Ensign Hayes was prepared to receive much more meaningful data. Instead the Gannicus was pounded with the fire of hell. The bridge turned into a frenzy, a free for all. Collin would have described it as the worst earthquake he had ever experienced or heard of. His training in Starfleet didn't even simulate the bridge being tossed around so easily. For a moment the bridge went pure black; you could hear explosions, and see flashes of light from the consoles catching on fire. During those flashes you could see crewmen and officers laying on the floor, some with blood, others were unconscious.   The emergency lights flickered on as soon as they could and the bridge was devastated. The officers and crewmen attempted to make the best of it all, and the Captain began to call for reports. Most things were offline including external sensors. Collin worked with his fellow science officer Ensign Kingston to get the sensors back on.  Seconds later, Madeline's console powered back up. "Sir," she said, "a sub-space tear has formed 150,000 kilometers aft.  The Myla's Dream is dangerously close to the tear and is in immediate jeopardy of being pulled in and destroyed." A few more orders about the tractor beam were carried out as commanded. Ensign Hayes watched as he was nearly useless. He bent over to help a crewmen on the floor. As he did a medical officer was there to relieve him. He stood back up to look at his console again and surprisingly enough it was back online.  He immediately ran his fingers over his board and pushed the computer to give him as much results as possible. As soon as he had anything to report he would do so, and just like that his console beeped at him. "Sir," he began turning to the Captain. "The sub-space tear is reacting to our arrival and use of the tractor beam. It is growing at a faster rate than before. I suggest we move twice our distance as soon as we are able." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Gannicus - Observation Lounge - CEO Ensign Vesper - 1737) Ash raised her hand about to interject into the conversation, as a sudden jolt threw her flat against the large table. A panel exploded with a blinding light tossing her back against the bulkhead, a searing pain ran across the front of her face as she fell. What must have been a few moments passed, but the adrenaline in her made those moments feel like an eternity. Dazed she opened her eyes and propped herself upright. ~Well... this is fun...~ "are you ok?" a voice rang in her ears. "I'm fine," she mumbled the pain subsiding. She wiped her bloody nose off on her sleeve, "How is everyone else?" She heard what she thought was Mil move away. As her senses returned she moved to a nearby panel to light up the engineering display to check the main systems. The working display lit up as she looked over her shoulder quickly surveying the room. (reply Mil. any in room) (posted by Adam) (USS Gannicus - Observation Lounge - CMO lt Mil Nicolae - 17:38) Mil sat and listened to the discussion, he had already started making notes on his PADD about who was doing what and what he needed to get from the Sickbay prior to their departing the ship. Shifting in his seat a little he had a strange feeling that the deck plate had moved. Within seconds the room was plunged into darkness and Mil was thrown from his seat, the display screen blew out sending sparks all over the room. Another jerk and Mil was sent tumbling along the other side of the room, along with the chairs. He rested in the corner surrounded by debris. It felt like the ship was being pulled. Looking up he saw the other officers had been thrown too and tried to get up to help them. There was a further jolt and the ship leant to port, at least Mil thought it was port. Scrambling to his feet Mil pulled himself along to Ensign Vesper, "are you ok?" (reply Vesper) He looked across to the commander everybody had blood on them, all from what he could see was superficial wounds, mainly because of the flying PADDs their heads encountered. Wracking his brain Mil remembered the location of the med kit, he worked his way along the perimeter and opened the small door in the wall. slamming the kit on the floor he pulled out the tricorder and scanned the other three officers. (Posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus - Cargo Bay One - Med Lt Tristan Dodge - 1740) Thrown from his feet Tristan covered his head as a pile of storage containers fell beside him. The units that had been wired in blew out and sent sparks flying across the room there was a scream as an unsuspecting engineer was caught in the explosion. Within seconds Tristan felt light headed, looking around he noticed it wasn't just him, in the emergency lighting he could clearly see the loose equipment and crew floating. ~Damn no gravity~ Trying to pull himself along the room and out of the doors there was enough medics in the cargo bay, he needed to get to the bridge. (Posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus - Security - CSEC  LT(SG)  Detron Trei - 17.41) The encounter with the rift caused an earthquake to erupt in Security.  Officers were thrown around the department like marionettes controlled for someones amusement.  It was far from amusing to him although it reminded him of several times  as a teenager on Betazed going to Night Clubs  and slam dancing in the "Mosh Pit."  He always had the reflexes and brute strength to inflict a great majority of the punishment.  He confirmed the status of the department and capabilities.  When everything was confirmed as in working order, he left the department to handle things from the Bridge. (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CSEC  LT(SG) Detron Trei - 17.45) When he entered the Bridge, he saw CPT Straton being attended to.  She looked OK.  She was asking for reports.  He went to his console before he gave his report.  He saw the subspace rift on his screen.  He saw Mya's Dream being pulled by tractor beam away from the rift.  They were not moving fast enough to clear the rift.  That would have to be fixed very soon or they will be pulled in the rift.  He gained the CPT's attention. "Sir.  Security is up and running.  Damage is being repaired .  Weapons are online ready to fire.  Any orders sir." (Posted by Edward) (USS Gannicus – Bridge - Med Lt Tristan Dodge - 1747) Having struggled to get off the deck he had managed to get onto the bridge, it looked like a war zone, equipment and crew were everywhere. Tristan grabbed the nearest med kit and started work, he joined up with about three med officers who had been able to make their way off the deck. There was a barrage of conversations that he tuned out. If it wasn't an order for him then he wasn't interested, there was more than enough to deal with. Moving from one wounded crewman he moved to another, this one had taken a hard fall "stay still I need to scan you" he said holding the woman back to the ground. She had suffered a severe break in her arm. Using the hypo he administered a pain killer in an attempt to calm her. ~what a mess~ Tristan thought looking around the room. Once the woman was calmed he then moved into the next person. He walked around as best he could. Cheif Brown was rubbing her wrist repeatedly so he headed to her. Janey had been trying to keep her head from exploding, there was a constant pain since they had arrived. She looked up and saw the middle-aged man moving around the bridge ~don't bother coming to me~ As the man approached she kept her attention to the console. "Ma'am the tractor beam is pulling too much power from the grid, I'm compensating to keep it online." She shouted half looking at the screen and half at her station. "Chief I need to take a look at your wrist" Tristan said taking hold of her. "It doesn't look like I have a choice does it" She snapped wishing she could just get on with her job. Holding out her arm whilst the Lt made several noises she tapped away with her spare hand, trying to align the power. After having waved a device over the arm Tristan let go and looked at Janey "that's everything I can do for you here, make sure you only use the arm when you need to" Tristan knew what the reply would be but said it anyway. Janey nodded her head knowing that in this case her wrist would be in constant use. She sent commands for Ops teams to head down to Engineering to support and to attempt to re-align the gravity. The slant on the ship was starting to do her head in. (posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus, Observation Lounge - CMO Lt Mil Nicolae, 1749) Mil stood over Commander Jacobs. He put out his hand to help him up. As he got up Mil gave him a quick scan. "Sir, I had better get to the Bridge, see if anyone needs help in there" (Reply Jacobs) Nrpg I'm assuming you say yes. Rpg: Mil nodded and pulled himself along the side of the room to the doors. First he stopped by Ensign Vesper again. He pulled out the hypospray and mixed a cocktail of painkillers. Walking closer to her he placed the tool by her neck. "This will keep you going kiddo" he pressed the button sending the painkillers and stimulants into her blood stream. "I think we better get into the bridge." Mil closed the med kit and pulled himself back to the doors, having to force them slightly open Mil got through. (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CMO Lt Mil Nicolae - 1754) The room resembled the observation lounge with equipment all over the place. Trying to stand up fully Mil pulled himself on a deactivated console. Looking around he saw Lt Dodge tending to various crewmen. Mil looked at the Captain and saw the blood pouring down her face. He made this his first point of call. Having climbed over debris Mil put the kit on the floor by the chair "I need to take a look at you sir" he didn't wait for the obvious objections that he expected. (reply Straton) Mil just nodded and started scanning. There was no major trauma, a slight contusion but that could wait. "how is your sight? Any headaches?" Mil asked over the ringing alarms. (posted by Mat Hodson) (USS Gannicus - Bridge - CEO Ensign Vesper - 1755) Stumbling out of the lounge Ash struggled to her station taking stock of the situation. "Repair crews reporting, Captain." She deployed her teams throughout the ship, aligning the power grid she looked over what was going on. Looking at the diagram of the ship areas highlighted in various colours. ~Gravity... Ash shouted. ~are we reading the same screens~ Janey thought spinning back round to check. After a quick check, she nodded her head.
