Spectre Compile number 8 by the great Compile Imp Compile covering dates May 28, 2005 to June 4, 2005 Compilers note: Fixed spelling errors and all that stuff. There is still some problem with capitalization at the beginning of each sentence. Time again is misrepresented. Maybe I should not do the bulk of the compile when Star Trek TNG and Law and Order is on. Stardate: 2406.11.11 (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 12.45) "He's found us, recommend we pull out of the asteroid field and start evasive maneuvers." Remae looked over at the Counsellor as he spoke to Pierce and after a few moments, the Counsellor resumed his chair next to the Captain however, Remae thought it was a little premature to start evading, since there was no sign of the runabout, at least on sensors. The Spectre fully emerged from the asteroids and within a few seconds, the runabout followed suit. Someone yelled out that the runabout was on the tail of the Spectre and that his weapons were charged, his warp drive was powered and he was targeting the Spectre. *wam* Modified lasers hit the Spectre and the computers altered the shield strength and shutdown systems that were damaged, and whoever programmed the inertial dampeners did a fine job of throwing the crew around in time with the weapon impacts. "He's powering his warp drive.", said someone else, at an aft Science Station. ~ Hit and Run ~ "Pierce, disable his engines and bring us around, two thirds impulse, evasive pattern Epsilon Three Seven.", ordered Remae as he nodded at the Counsellor. He should have taken his advice earlier. "H'Chir, lock on a tractor beam, Commander Schofield, lock on the transporter, prepare to beam the occupant into the Brig as soon as the shields are down. On the screen, the modified lasers that represented photon torpedoes began to fire from the Spectre's launchers. Remae wondered what the runabout was going to do now; a few of those photons would be enough to destroy the runabout at close range. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Bridge – Ensign H’CHIR – 1248) The battle was moving well. Masked by the asteroid debris, the Evangeline had taken a few pot-shots at the Spectre and was now attempting to flee before the larger ship could regain its ground and go on the offensive. The bridge hummed with the intense focus alive in each officer and adrenaline coursed through H’Chir’s veins. On his screen he watched the shuttle craft accelerate away from the Spectre and was halfway through start-up on the tractor beam as the order came in: “H’CHIR, lock on a tractor beam…” the captain continued giving orders to other bridge crew as the Andorian’s hands flew over his console. “Tractor engaged.” For a heartbeat he had the smaller ship contained and then, “Sir, he’s repolarising the hull; attempting to destabilize the beam. I’m compensating but I can’t guarantee it’ll hold.” (Reply any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre,Sickbay , CMO, Williams, 14.50) Andrew was glad that they had finished the mock battle although flying around shooting after the shuttle craft had been interesting it was nothing like the real experience. He sighed. "That’s why I joined Starfleet to get real experience." He glanced again at the far wall in sickbay. It still unnerved him thinking about the asteroids floating through the ship. If the cloak had failed then it would have been a disaster. He had spent most of the time powering up the surgical theater and the getting treage equipment ready just incase some thing should happen. "I really need to get out of here for a moment or I'll go mental." He grabbed a medkit and spied the nurse on duty. "I'll be back in a bit." With that he turned and left. (posted by Robbie Gray) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 15.00) The First and Second Officers were in the Ready Room after the CO had called them in to discuss the mock battle with the runabout. "I want a full analysis of the crew's performance, reaction times, everything by 12.00 tomorrow.", said Remae not overly impressed by the crew's performance. "Commander Schofield, arrange a staff meeting at 18.00 hours for all the senior officers, we'll talk about the mission and what the 52nd is expecting us to do. Please ensure that everyone is there." (Reply from Schofield and Orde) "Thank you Pierce, your dismissed, Commander Schofield, can you remain a moment?", asked Remae as he touched his commbadge, "Counsellor Lronen, can you report to the Ready Room?" (Reply from Lronen) When Orde had left, he invited Shane to have a seat and they spoke for a moment about the ship and system status until the door chime rang and the Counsellor was invited in. Remae continued examining two PADDs, one was the orders from Command and the Second was titled, "Ensign Will Banowsky." "Thanks for coming Counsellor, have a seat please.", said Remae still sitting behind his desk, "The recent tactical test was as much a test for Banowsky as it was for the Spectre. 52nd command has ordered all COs to investigate future command officer potential. We could be at this war for sometime and without the resources of Earth and Starfleet Command, we have to identify Command Officers from our own crews as fast as possible." The CO got drinks for the staff and sat back down with his Bajoran Tea. "Commander, Counsellor, you've both had the time to watch Banowsky, tell me what you think of him.", said Remae sitting back in his chair. (Reply from Shane and Divon) "Well, I am thinking of creating a new position on the Spectre for him. Although its not uncommon on other ships, this will be the first time on the Spectre we've had a Third Officer. Basically, he'll be under you direct command Commander, I want you to teach him everything about Command, and draw on Starfleet's Officer Training Program for Command and run him through it." The CO turned to Divon, "I want you to keep a close eye on him, Counsellor. We'll be asking a great deal of our CONN/OPS Officer, I don't want him breaking under the stress.", Remae paused, "That's goes for all of us, of course.", he said smiling. "Alight, that's it, any questions, comments?", said Remae and he waited for anyone to speak and he answered questions before he finally dismissed the First Officer. "Counsellor, can you remain a moment.", said Remae taking another sip of tea and once the room was cleared, Remae spoke up. "I didn't trust your judgement in the training mission and I paid the price with a few phaser hits to the hull, I don't intend to make that mistake again..." "I've been running the ship on instinct and on my own for so long, I've stopped trusting just about everyone close to me on the Bridge but I intend to break that habit, with your help I hope." Remae had a clear reclination of a similar speech he was given when he was the Counsellor on the Spectre all those years ago, but then, the CO told him she would never trust Counsellors or him, Remae wasn't going to follow that track because he knew where it led, he wasn't going to become Captain Ro. (Reply from Schofield, Orde, Lronen, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Cutlass- Command Cabin- CSO Ronsworth- 15.05) The runabout still felt brand new. The whole room smelled of new uniform. She was to be delivered to the Spectre. Ronsworth looked down at the PADDs to his right. The runabout was an experimental new class just out of field testing. It had a better sensor package than the older Danube class and was relatively advanced in most other ways. Garry tapped the comm “Cutlass to the Spectre, this is Ensign Ronsworth, I am requesting shuttle bay clearance.” (Reply Banowsky, any) “Eye, Spectre bringing her in. Good to see you Will.” Garry looked the Spectre over as her stern came into view; the shuttle bay doors opened and the Cutlass slid into the shuttle bay. The bay was full of activity. Garry grabbed his luggage and headed out the runabout. (posted by Bobby P.) (USS Spectre- Turbo lift- CSO Ronsworth- 15.06) “Ronsworth to Captain Remae,” (Reply Captain) “Eye sir it is good to be home. Geneva has procured a new runabout for the Spectre. I have the transfer forms and security codes for it. I’m going to have my ACSO deliver them to your office. The Cutlass is a fine vessel sir, I’m sure that she will be a fine addition to our shuttle fleet, Ronsworth out.” “Ronsworth to all Science department heads, meet me in my office.” “Ronsworth to Science Officer MacDonald, could you meet me in my office.” (Reply MacDonald) Ronsworth entered his office, and sat at his desk. The reports had built up since his absence. He began the task of sorting through them as he waited for his department heads to arrive. (Reply Banowsky, CO, MacDonald, any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre,Main engineering, CMO, Williams, 15.06) Andrew entered main engineering it had the busy hussle and bussle of what he had come to expect from engineering. He got the attention of a passing engineer. "Have you seen Mr. H'Chir?" "Yes Doctor I think he is in the Jeffries Tube on deck 15 working on the cloaking device." Andrew nodded his thanks and headed off to deck 15. (posted by Robbie Gray) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube Junction – Ensign H’CHIR – 1514) H’Chir’s legs dangled from the ceiling of his little box what little space there was above offered no room for them as he attempted to realign a local ODN nodes. All the same the simplicity of this work agreed with him after days of battling a cranky cloaking device and an unchallenging mock-battle. His little taste of bridge duty had left him longing for his toolkit, despite the fact that the cloak had both worked and held under “battle” conditions. He still didn’t trust the device, but for now that was ok. Next time they hit spacedock he’d take it to pieces and rebuild it. Then, with each little connection mapped inside his brain, and only then could H’CHIR truly trust the cloak. For now he’s just have to tolerate it. Snapping the last relay into place, H’CHIR dropped to the floor of his cell and powered up his hastily erected console. The board lit up and H’CHIR smiled approvingly. ~Not bad… For a start.~ (Reply any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Personal Quarters-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.15) Will was currently not listed for bridge duty, which was alright by him. He had just gotten out of the shower and changed into a fresh uniform. He had a lot of fun on the tactical training mission, but he was happy to be back on the Spectre. He had an hour before he needed to be on the bridge, and he planned on visiting Counselor Lronen around 20.00 hours. Why, he didn't know, but visiting his "Crazy" doctor wouldn't help. Will walked over to the replicator. "Tortilla soup and water." He said as the replicator created his food. He then walked back to his table and began eating. He didn't know what to expect when he graduated, but he could say one thing. He was having fun. (reply any if they want) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube Junction -CMO, Williams, 1517) He eventually found H'Chir working at a console in one of the Jeffries tubes. "Hallo Mr. H'Chir I was just seeing how you were getting on and whether the medication was working okay." (reply H'Chir) (reply H'Chir, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube Junction – Ensign H’CHIR – 1518) “Hallo Mr. H’CHIR. I was just seeing how you were getting on and whether the medication was working okay.” For a split second guilt played across the Andorian’s features before being replaced with his normal, frosty demeanor. The doctor was an unexpected guest, but it was clear that the visitor was innocent enough. “I didn’t sense you sneaking up on me, Doctor, so I guess that means it’s working.” He advanced on the physician, obscuring as much of the ‘room’ as possible and added, “Was there anything else you wanted, Doctor?” (posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube Junction -CMO - Williams - 1521) "I didn't sense you sneaking up on me, Doctor, so I guess that means it's working." "Was there anything else you wanted, Doctor?" Andrew realized that H'Chir had placed himself infront of the door way blocking his way into the room. ~Ah well not going to find anything interesting~ Andrew gave him a pleasant smile. "I was just wanting to stretch my legs and get out of sickbay for a bit. What are you doing down here anyway. Is there anything you would like a hand with?" ~Its worth a try~ (reply H'Chir) (reply H'Chir, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-Cloaking Device Engineering Section-Ensign(jg) Grant Archie-15.30) Grant looked at the cloaking device. She had stayed operational through the tactical practice and Grant was proud. He really had no reason to be proud, he was just one of many engineers working in engineering. The pride belonged to the chief engineer. But Grant had grown proud of the cloaking device. He did help get her back online. He had loved the concept of the cloaking device ever since he was 12, and here he was living out his boy hood dream. Granted walked over to the nearest console and began running diagnostics on the cloaking device. CPO M'Rurrh had told him to stay with the cloaking device and that was what he was going to do. (reply any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre-Main Engineering-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.40) Will was due back to the bridge in 20 minutes, but he needed to make a quick stop. He had quickly finished eating his food and headed directly to main engineering to talk to Ensign H'Chir, that and see how the engines were doing. Will had a suspicion that H'Chir didn't really want him down there, but hey, Will was the Operations Chief. It may not have been his engine room, but he was still concerned with the shape of the ship. Will walked into engineering and looked around, he didn't see H'Chir, but he was probably around somewhere. It was alright if he didn't find him, he didn't have much time to spend in engineering anyways. (reply any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Ensign H’CHIR – 1541) H’CHIR had not long returned to his room on deck 15 after his conversation with the Chief Medical Officer when the alarm sounded. The computer had calmly relayed the news that Ensign Banowsky was currently heading toward Main Engineering, and the grumpy Andorian had let out a small howl of frustration before diving back into the Jeffries tube network to face him. As the doors parted before him, H’CHIR could clearly see the human’s frame gazing up at the warpcore. Summoning what little calm he had H’CHIR asked, “Something, I can do for you, Ensign?” (Reply Williams, Banowsky, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Main Engineering-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.42) “Something I can do for you, Ensign?” Will turned around and looked at the Chief Engineer. "Not really, I just came down to see how everything was going. Had time to kill before returning to the bridge, just thought I'd check in on engineering." (reply) "Well your doing a great job down here, great job. I'm impressed everyone seems to be busy, and working. I honestly must commend you. I wouldn't be surprised if I come down here later and take notes." (reply H'chir) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Ensign H’CHIR – 1543) "Not really, I just came down to see how everything was going. Had time to kill before returning to the bridge, just thought I'd check in on engineering." The Andorian bristled but kept his emotions in check as he replied, “As you can see, Ensign, everything here is fine.” "Well you’re doing a great job down here, great job. I'm impressed everyone seems to be busy, and working. I honestly must commend you. I wouldn't be surprised if I come down here later and take notes." “There’s no secret to it, Ensign. We are busy. There’s plenty of work to be done for now.” (Reply Banowsky, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Main Engineering-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.44) “There’s no secret to it, Ensign. We are busy. There’s plenty of work to be done for now.” "Alright then, well I need to head to the bridge, so I'll be seeing you around. Oh one more thing, do you play poker, I'm trying to organize a game tonight around 22.00 hours, let me know over my commbadge if you are interested and I'll give you the details" Will said as he turned around and headed for the turbolift. He entered the turbo lift and headed toward the bridge, a bit early, but he didn't mind. Besides, the person currently on duty would like the extra break. (reply H'Chir iyw) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre-Bridge-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.50) Will entered the bridge and headed to the Conn/Ops station at the front of the bridge where he relieved the current officer of duty and took his seat. He reviewed the Spectre's current flight plan and itinerary. He ran some quick diagnostics on all flight related systems. He then just waited and looked on making sure everything was going smoothly. Then doctor Williams walked in. He asked the officer on the bridge where the captain was, Will didn't know, so he just kept his mouth shut, besides he wasn't the one asked. He did however make an attempt to motion the doctor over. He waited for the doctor to finish up with the bridge officer and then turned around in his chair and smiled. "Hey doc, I'm trying to organize a poker game for tonight at about 22.00 hours. I was going to come by and ask later, but since you’re here, are you interested." (reply Williams) (reply Williams, H'Chir) (posted by Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Bridge, CMO, Williams 1552) Andrew entered the bridge and took a long slow look around the bridge. Although it had not change from the last time he had seen it, he always felt a little strange seeing the starscape on the main viewer after all those hours in sickbay looking at nothing but bright clinical walls. He walked slowly over to the officer on the bridge. "Do you know where the Captain is I've got the routine medical report to give him." (reply anyone on the bridge) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-Bridge- CMO - Williams -15.53) Andrew nodded at the officers reply. "Thanks." As he turned to leave he saw Will trying to catch his attention. He turned back and crossed over to him. "Hey doc, I'm trying to organize a poker game for tonight at about 22.00 hours. I was going to come by and ask later, but since your here, are you interested." Andrew though for a moment. "I would love to but I do not know how to play poker but if you don't mind me muddling through I would be delighted." (reply Banowsky) (reply Banowsky, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-Bridge-Ensign Will Banowsky-15.54) "I would love to but I do not know how to play poker but if you don't mind me muddling through I would be delighted." "Don't worry doc, It's alright, I haven’t played in months. So, 22.00, my quarters, and I'll help you through the game. In fact I'll forward some material on how to play the game to your office if you'd like." (reply Williams) "Anyways Doc, I need to go over some system reports, we got a new runnabout in today, need to go over some things, but ya. Oh, if you know someone else who wants to play feel free to bring them along." (reply Williams) Will then said goodby to the doctor and turned back to his console, he was excited about the new runnabout, and was eager to test it out.
