Stardate: 2406.11.11 (USS Spectre- Deck Four, CSO’s Office- aCSO Ronsworth- 1516) Garry was sitting at his desk and filling out reports. It seemed like the only job he had on this ship was filling out reports, lab journals and test records. He had just finished briefing his ACSO Miller on the situation and given her some very exciting news. Garry needed to talk to one last individual, MacDonald. Garry was about to tap his commbadge again when suddenly a young officer barged into his office with out even so much as a tap on the door chime. “You wanted to see me, sir?” “Um…” Garry stood at the entrance of the new officer, “Yes, um please have a seat ensign.” Garry motioned to MacDonald to sit in one of the chairs on the door side of his desk. “I called you here because I have a proposition for you. I am willing to petition the captain to have you made ACSO. I need a ranking officer in that position. These crewmen seem to only listen to officers, in addition Miller has been accepted to Starfleet Academy and will be leaving us immediately” “The Academy has been a little short on Science officers as of late and the dropout rate is alarming. At any rate, I will not ask the Captain if you are not comfortable with this. Are you ready to step up to the plate?” (Reply ScO) “Now the promotion would not take effect until 1500 tomorrow so be prepared to take on those responsibilities.” (Reply ScO) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre- Sickbay- CMO - Williams - 21.50) Andrew was just finishing a medical report when Nurse Douwsy nocked on the door to his office. "Andrew I'm not sure if your know but we have a Spook on board." Andrew put down his PADD and looked up at her. "And where did you get to hear that?" "Yes she's just arrived. I heard it from one of the petty officers who works in the shuttle bay." ~Oh great, she will probably interrogate the crew. if she finds out about sis I’m deader then a Ferengi with selling fake latinum. But she is fleet Intel and so probably knows about her.~ Andrew nodded to Douwsy. "Thanks I'll put a note in records to get for her medical." As douwsy turned he picked up his Padd. "Computer what is the name of the Star fleet Intelligence personal that has just arrived." [Ensign JG, Aeryn Hampton] "okay computer send a message to Ensign Hampton. begin dictation." "To Ensign Hampton From CMO Andrew Aeryn at your earliest convenience could you come to sickbay so that I can person a medical review. thank you. End dictation" Andrew glanced at the chronometer. ~Better get to the game don't want to be late~ He got up and headed out of his office. (reply Aeryn, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre: Security Office - TAC/SC/aFO Pierce Orde - 2155) "Agent Aeryn Hampton reporting as ordered, sir." Orde glanced up at the agent, deciding on a tack to take with her. After a moment of deliberation, he decided. "Agent Hampton, I have a request to make of you: I want to know of the nature of your mission aboard the Spectre." (reply Hampton) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre-Ensign Banowsky's Quarters- CMO - Williams - 022.19) "Alright Doc, it's your turn to bet, you have to but in 10 chips anyways to play the hand, and if you want to raise you can, if not then you don't have two." Andrew looked at his cards again. ~Gonna lose with these cards any way so why not make it interesting~ "Okay I'll put in 30 chips." He placed the chips in the center and snagged some more Gagh. For some strange reason he was the only one eating them. ~Maybe it’s the flavor~ (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Engineer’s Mate, CPO M’Rurrh – 2237) =/\=Engineering, we have a shuttle craft docking on the port side docking hatch, secure the ship and adjust our warp field, we'll be returning to warp shortly.=/\= The Caitian sighed. In some ways she’d been given the most important task as the Spectre raced to its latest mission: ensuring the ship didn’t fly herself apart at high warp. But part of her wished she’d be asked to tackle one of the many problems a class-Y star would throw at the vessel. “Bridge, this is Engineering. Adjusting warp field, aye. You’re clear for warp nine at your discretion.” The display console shifted to show the field now flowing around the extra bulk to the starship’s port side, and as M’Rurrh satisfied herself the ship could handle warp speeds a mischievous thought occurred to her. “Engineering to H’Chir. How are the modifications to the shuttlebay coming?” The response was every bit as exasperated as she’d expected and she had to bite her lip to keep from laughing down the open comm.-channel. =/\=Dang it, woman! I said leave me alone!=/\= “I know you did, chief, and I wouldn’t have interrupted you but I thought you might like to know the bridge has just signaled another shuttle craft docking to port.” She could hear the growl of frustration growing in his throat, glad that this time it wasn’t directed at her. =/\=If space is so big, why do we keep bumping into shuttles? We’re supposed to be out on the frontier!=/\= ~Good point,~ she mused before replying: “Maybe they’re all being drawn by your charm and wit, sir. Our warp field’s adjusted and we’ve just jumped back to warp three and counting.” =/\=Understood. H’Chir out.=/\= M’Rurrh smiled to herself, the tips of her fangs peeping out below her top lip. ~Maybe playing supervisor does have some advantages.~ (Reply any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Main Shuttlebay – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 2238) With most of his team either working to prepare Engineering for the Spectre’s latest mission, or liaising with other departments to aid them in getting the ship ready to face a class-Y star under potential battle conditions, the Andorian Chief Engineer was left to one of the more practical concerns the Captain had raised. Grunting with the exertion, H’Chir placed another magnetic handhold against the portside wall of the shuttlebay, and hauled his blue body another step closer to his objective. He was just reaching to place the next handhold when his commbadge chirped: =/\=Engineering to H’Chir. How are the modifications to the shuttlebay coming?=/\= Hanging from the wall by one arm, much to the amusement of the shuttlebay attendant on duty, H’Chir tapped his commbadge and shouted at the room around him, “Dang it, woman! I said leave me alone!” ~She probably finds all this very amusing. And just what do you think you’re staring at?~ H’Chir fired one of his finest scowls in the direction shuttlebay control both and the duty officer within. =/\=I know you did, chief, and I wouldn’t have interrupted you but I thought you might like to know the bridge has just signaled another shuttle craft docking to port.=/\= “If space is so big, why do we keep bumping into shuttles? We’re supposed to be out on the frontier!” =/\=Maybe they’re all being drawn by your charm and wit, sir.=/\= The Andorian was ready to bark a response informing M’Rurrh that she’d overstepped the line, but she carried on, not allowing him to start, =/\=Our warp field’s adjusted and we’ve just jumped back to warp three and counting.=/\= “Understood. H’Chir out.” (Reply any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 23.00) =^= This is the USS Swift to the USS Spectre =^= Remae was in the Ready Room waiting for Commander Tahlmari to make an appearance when the comms burst into life. "Go ahead, this is the Captain speaking.", said Remae, wondering what the USS Swift wanted. =^= Permission to come aboard. I have been assigned to the USS Spectre. =^= "Ensign, Ensign.", Remae didn't get the new arrivals name, "You'd better beam over, the shuttlebay is a little crowded at the moment. =^= Alright, Permission to Transport over. =^= "Granted Ensign, standby.", said Remae, doubling tapping his commbadge, "Transporter Rom One, prepare to beam one from the USS Swift, Security, this is the Captain, we have another arrival, please escort him to the Ready Room, before the Commander gets up here! Captain out." (Reply from Security as required) It was as busy the Bajoran Capital City, Remae hoped that the rest of his crew was just as busy, even though he had rumours of a poker game taking place! (Posted by TK) (USS Spectre, Main Shuttlebay – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 2303) H’Chir stood in the Spectre’s cavernous main shuttlebay. All around him the walls towered up the height of three decks within the mighty starship. In front of him the doors out into space filled two thirds of the available wall-space, and behind him the airtight control room occupied most of the width of the middle deck. Glancing to port, H’Chir’s efforts had finally yielded a result. A little over halfway up the wall, starting to the aft of the bay and extending several metres back towards the control room, a shelf jutted out. It was coloured to match the Starfleet standard around them, and had a simple, solid elegance about it that appealed to the Andorian. There were still one or two details to iron out, a more complex grid of tractor/repulsor beams being top of the list, and of course the entire process would need to be replicated on the starboard wall if they were to truly make the most of the space available, but before all that there was something else to consider: “Computer, log a message to Commander Orde, to be delivered when he’s next on duty. Commander, this is Ensign H’Chir. I’ve made progress on the Captain’s request to modify the shuttle bay and I’d like to run my ideas past you before I proceed any further. Could you please meet me in the main shuttlebay at a convenient time. Say… 0900?” The last of the day’s business in the shuttlebay attended to, H’Chir headed for the exit and his bed. (Reply Orde, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 23.10) "Ensign Lok, reporting as ordered.", reported the new arrival. ~ A Ferengi ~ Remae hid his look of surprise, after all these years as Captain, this was the first Ferengi he'd ever served with. "At ease, Ensign, Welcome aboard.", said the Captain, examining the bio of the new arrival. "CONN eh? Well, that's fine but you're going to have to talk with Ensign Banowsky, he has been running CONN and OPS on the Spectre for a few weeks now. I suggest you have a talk with him tomorrow, and I also want you to report to the First Officer, Lt Commander Orde. in the meantime, find some quarters, settle in and report to the Bridge at 0800 for your shift, any questions Ensign?", asked the Captain. (Anything can go here from Lok) "Very well, dismissed.", said the CO returning to his computer screen. (Posted by TK) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CONN, Ensign Jr. Grade Lok - 23.15) "CONN eh? " No sir. Glad to be aboard" "Very well, dismissed.", said the CO returning to his computer screen. Lok left the room quickly and headed for the turbo lift to find some living space. Hopefully he would make his duty shift as well. (Posted by Chris) (USS Spectre, Quarter Master's office,CONN, Ensign Jr. Grade Lok-23.30) Lok sat in front of the small man as he tore through the data banks. There had been a foul up in room assignments and now there was nowhere for Lok to live. The process was taking much longer then what was expected and Lok worried about what time he would get to sleep. He looked at the chronometer. It read 23.30. ~This is ridiculous!~ The man stopped his search suddenly and turned back to Lok with a grimace. " Well, we can't move anyone right now, however, there is a large storage room that is currently empty if you wish to stay there for now." "Do I have a choice?" "Well, no not really. I suppose the sick bay is always open for sleeping." "That's alright, I will live in the closet for now" "Ok then I will have your things sent there immediately." Lok gave him a curt nod and left for his new room. He knew this was not the end of his problems. (posted by Chris) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 23.45) "Come." Remae stood up when the Commander came in. "Commander Tahlmari, welcome onboard the Spectre.", Remae waved the Security Officer away as the doors closed. (Reply from Tahlmari) "Your arrival was unexpected, what can we do for you?", said Remae pouring two cups of tea, sitting back in his chair, feet on his desk and before he took a sip, he let out the largest yawn ever heard. "Sorry, its been a long, long day. you were saying?", said Remae still lying back with his feet up, sipping tea. (Reply from Tahlmari, Lok, Anyone Else who wants to fill up our shuttlebay.) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre- Ready Room- Commander Tahlmari- 2348) "Come." Tahl heard and he entered the Captain's ready room. As Remae stood Tahl looked him over discerningly. Tahl was well versed in Remae's history, and knew that recently he had been relieved of command of the Spectre, but also earned it back. Of course he wasn't clear on all of the details, but then again, it was not his place to pass those kinds of judgements. Remae seemed taller than Tahl had expected. "Commander Tahlmari, welcome onboard the Spectre," Remae said, waving the security officer away. "Thank you, Captain," Tahl put out his hand and shook the Bajorans. He had a firm but easy grip. "Your arrival was unexpected, what can we do for you?" Remae poured two cups of tea, then let out an impressive yawn, as he sat back in his chair. "Sorry, its been a long, long day. you were saying?" Tahl was surprised that his arrival was unexpected, as his orders to go to the Spectre came from Admiral LoDona. He cocked an eyebrow for a minute, and found himself looking for Bob, his imaginary friend to guide his hand. But those days were gone. He sighed, realizing how tired he was, himself. "I apologize for my late arrival," Tahl offered taking a sip of the bitter tea. He saw a small bowl of sugar and added some to his. As he stirred the tea he continued. "Actually, I was sent here by Admiral LoDona and the Strategic Operations department to help out on your mission. Command wants to know the viability of a tactical station in that sector. I also understand that you're short an FO right now, and in these times, it helps to have as many command staff on a ship as possible, so I'd like to offer my services." He took a sip of his tea and enjoyed the warming sensation as it was now the right flavor. (reply Remae) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 23.50) "I apologize for my late arrival." Remae smiled at the Commander as he too sipped at the tea. "Actually, I was sent here by Admiral LoDona and the Strategic Operations department to help out on your mission. Command wants to know the viability of a tactical station in that sector. I also understand that you're short an FO right now, and in these times, it helps to have as many command staff on a ship as possible, so I'd like to offer my services." "Well, that should be no problem and I appreciate the extra pair of command hands. Most of the crew of the Spectre are young and inexperienced." The CO took out a PADD and handed it to the Commander. "That PADD contains the mission orders and some other operational details, we should arrive late tomorrow afternoon but we'll drop out of warp and cloak before we approach the star, to see what is happening." Once again, Remae let out a yawn. "Its late, Commander, why don't you find yourself some quarters? I'll see you on the Bridge tomorrow, you may want to introduce yourself around to the crew as you see fit. dismissed.", said Remae standing up. (Reply from Tahlmari) Once Tahl had left, Remae called it a night and he headed out of the Ready Room and to the closest Bridge turbolift and to his quarters, finally. (Reply from Tahlmari, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre- Ready Room- Commander Tahlmari- 2351) Tahl took the PADD that Remae had offered with a nod. He suppressed a smile when the captain yawned again. "Its late, Commander," Remae stated, "why don't you find yourself some quarters? I'll see you on the Bridge tomorrow, you may want to introduce yourself around to the crew as you see fit. dismissed." "Thank you Captain," Tahl rose, "I'm sure I'll be able to make myself at home." At that he turned and exited the ready room. He made his way to the nearest computer access and had himself assigned quarters. He felt odd assigning himself VIP quarters but he felt he should be on the same deck as the command staff, and it would have been even odder assigning himself to the FO's old quarters. After arriving at his quarters on deck 2 he unpacked his gear, and set up his holographic aquarium. It had been a present from his wife. She had worried that if she had gotten him real fish that they would have died of neglect. He smiled at the thought, and she was probably right. He lay on his bed and closed his eyes. all he could do was think of how much he missed Alexandra. Tired as he was it was no good trying to sleep right now. So he went in search for a late night snack. (Posted by Al) Stardate: 2406.11.12 (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams 00.01) Andrew put down his PADD and glanced at the chronometer on the wall. ~grate this is going to be a long shift~ he glanced at the PADD. he had gone through the different anti-radiation medication that he had on board. he picked up a cup half filled with hot steaming caffeine. it was the only thing that kept him awake during his night shifts. "if I have to look at one more treatment I'm going to go mental." he remembered that Will was on bridge duty. ~lets go and see if he want a hand. It will keep me occupied if nothing else~ he got up, grabbed his cup and nodded to the night nurse as he went passed. "If you need me give me a call, I'm just making a round I'll be back soon." with that he headed for the door. (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, CEO’s Quarters – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 0012) H’Chir stretched out for what felt like the first time in hours. Checking his chronometer he noticed that it was in fact the first time in… hours. He’d initially planned to spend a short time reviewing the day’s reports before getting some well-earned sleep, but somewhere in the mass of paperwork awaiting his attention he’d miss the change as late night passed into early morning. “Chief Engineer’s personal log, stardate… yesterday… Ermmm… 2406.11.11. “We were briefed on our new mission today. Proceed to a class-Y star system and investigate the area. They didn’t say what sort of trouble they expect us to find, but you can be sure it’ll be the worst kind. Anyway, the Captain’s got the entire crew concentrated on preparing for close proximity to a class-Y star – radiation screens, enhanced sensors, protection for key systems – whilst we race there, soon to be under cloak. Sometimes I just want to grab the admiralty by the neck and tell them that if Creation had meant for us to go near class-Y stars then we’d all have leaden skin!” Sipping his drink, H’Chir rolled his eyes as another problem sprang into focus. “Oh, and we’re going all this whilst being rammed full to the gizzard with shuttles, support craft and pretty much anything capable of flying so that Starfleet can send us replacement personnel one at a time. We’ve had to start parking them outside and dragging them along with us inside our warpfield. I wonder if the cloak will stretch that far… “At least this way we might not need the cloak – I still don’t trust that thing. Noone’s going to feel threatened when the USS Spectre, masterpiece of Federation ingenuity and technology, arrives on the scene and can’t even shoot straight through the swarm of shuttles beaming staff in and out at random!” The Andorian paused for a moment, attempting to straighten the pile of PADDs he’d collected as it threatened to collapse to the desktop. “The other news is that Ensign Banowsky, our revered Operations Officer, has been promoted to Third Officer and will be given command duties to juggle with his Flight Control and Operations posts. I haven’t decided whether command privilege and responsibilities will mean he’s poking into my business more or less yet. It’s bad enough being invited round to his quarters to play poker and ‘bond’. “The Den almost got discovered by Dr Williams this afternoon. I don’t think he saw much, and to be honest I doubt he’d know what he was looking at anyway. He’s no engineer. Either way I should be ready to bring it online by the time we reach our destination and then Banowsky and all the others who want to change my engine room will finally be out of my hair!” (Reply none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Bridge – EO Cadet John Smith – 0013) Glancing for what seemed like the millionth time at the ship’s chronometer, the non-descript cadet stifled a yawn. When he’d first found out he’d been assigned to the Spectre for their latest mission as part of his Starfleet training field duty he’d been as excited as the other cadets but on arrival things had swiftly changed as he plunged head first into the day to day routine of a starship in operation. Eager to ensure that he got experience of the full range of shipboard life, his new department head had rostered him onto the night shift, although Smith suspected the cranky Andorian had done it just as much to get the inexperienced cadet out of the way as anything else. And it didn’t matter how many times he reminded himself that there’s no such thing as “night” on a starship, he kept being drawn back to the realization that the night shift’s responsibility was to keep everything running as the last shift had left it until the alpha shift arrived to take over and do all the important work in the morning. Except there wasn’t any morning in space either. At least during his brief spell on the bridge things had seemed… focused. The duty officer, the ship’s new Third Officer, seemed to be eager to settle himself into the command role and there was a tense edge of anticipation on the bridge that was lacking elsewhere on the sleepy starship. He’d just handed Ensign Banowsky a PADD containing an update on the ship’s abnormal warpfield – they’d adjusted it to take aboard a shuttle at the portside docking port (a shuttle they couldn’t accommodate in the shuttlebay, both of which were already full to maximum capacity) – although all the PADD said was that everything was running fine and there weren’t any apparent… John blinked. The read-out hadn’t gone away. He half looked over his shoulder, not daring take his eyes off the console that steadily pulsed with information for him. “Sir?” He wasn’t sure what reply came back from the command officer, or even if one was made but he felt the focus shift in his direction at the same time the console stopped bleeping. “Nothing, sir. For a minute it looked like we were reading a Federation shuttle but the reading’s just… gone.” (Reply Banowsky, any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Bridge-CONN/OPS/3O Ensign Will Banowsky-00.14) Will sat in the command chair waiting and smiling. He was excited to be sitting there. It was just a dream come true. He was a member of the Command Staff, and here he was pulling his first shift as a duty officer. Of course he was also nervous as hell. What if something went wrong during his shift. What if he fell asleep. Of course he didn't let that get the best of him and he stayed focus, and made sure the bridge was running efficiently. Even though everyone appeared tired, and he himself was tired. Especially after losing the poker game. Will just waited, with determination in his eyes. He was eager to impress the captain, and this was his shot. A young cadet had just handed him a PADD containing an update of the ship's abnormal warpfield. Will looked over it. Everything appeared fine. Until of course he heard the young cadet speak. "Sir?" the cadet said. "What is it Smith." Will replied as he looked over at the young cadets direction. “Nothing, sir. For a minute it looked like we were reading a Federation shuttle but the reading’s just… gone.” Will walked over to smith, and looked at the console. "What do you mean, a federation shuttle. Do you mean the one docked on to the Spectre, or just another shuttle." Will replied, starting to get worried. ~Why my shift, why?~ (reply Smith) "Alright, I want a full sensor sweep of the area. See what we can find. I also want to know the locations of all the Spectre's support craft, as well as the shuttle Commander Tahlmari came on." Will then moved over to the CONN/OPS station. "Crewman, go over to Cadet Smith's station. I want you to run a full diagnostic on your station, see if perhaps there is an error with the console itself." Will then sat down at the CONN/OPS station, and began running system diagnostics, as well monitoring the current flight path. "Cadet Smith, I want you to join me over here and lets see if we can find this "ghost ship." (reply Smith. room for more iyw) (reply Smith, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Bridge – EO, Cadet John Smith – 0015) "What do you mean? A Federation shuttle? Do you mean the one docked onto the Spectre, or just another shuttle?" The twitchy Third Officer’s quick-fire questions pinned John to his seat and left him nervously stammering for a reply. “I… I… I’m not sure.” He immediately cursed himself for not addressing the senior officer as “sir”, but was relieved to see that Ensign Banowsky hadn’t seemed to notice. The Cadet watched as his commanding officer began to dissect the latest problem and issue orders. "Alright, I want a full sensor sweep of the area. See what we can find. I also want to know the locations of all the Spectre's support craft, as well as the shuttle Commander Tahlmari came on." John had no sooner begun pulling together the information requested when he heard the Ensign issuing orders to one of the other bridge officers. “Crewman, go over to Cadet Smith's station. I want you to run a full diagnostic on your station, see if perhaps there is an error with the console itself. Cadet Smith, I want you to join me over here and let’s see if we can find this "ghost ship." Getting up and heading towards the combined CONN/OPS station, John’s eyes widened at the sudden flurry of fuss he’d generated. “Sir, I… I’m not even sure I really saw a shuttle. We are out on the frontier, we can't take chances. So even if it is just a hunch, we need to be careful. We are out on the frontier, we need to be sure of anything that could happen. For all we know Admiral Doenitz has developed a shuttle capable of cloak. A thought I don't want to think about. Cadet take over the helm, and send out a scan for any abnormal readings every 5 minutes." (reply Smith) Will then got up from his station and walked back over to the command chair to sit down and contemplate. Think about things...when finally a thought came into his head. Granted Will could be a conspiracy theorist at times, but when imaginary shuttles are popping up over the place, you had to tread carefully and not dismiss things. "Sir," a crewman spoke up as Will turned his head to look at him, "All support crafts are presently onboard, and Commander Tahlmari's ship is docked on to the Spectre." "Alright, well keep scans going for the next two hours. We need to be cautious." Then turning his head back to Smith, "Cadet, have you come up with any abnormal readings?" (posted by Tony) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office, COUNS, Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 0826) Divon looked down at his PADD at the appointments for the day. This would be another heavy one... "Computer... what are my appointments for the day?" asked Divon aloud. He thought he knew them, but wanted to hear them. The Captain had set him onto an onerous task of updating the psychological profiles and assessments of the entire crew, it behooved him to make sure it was done and done properly. [0830 - Commander Tahlmari 0930 - Nothing Scheduled 1030 - Ensign Grant Archie 1130 - Ensign T'Pran 1230 - Nothing scheduled 1330 - Doctor Bently 1430 - Ensign MacDonald 1530 - Ensign Hampton 1830 - Nothing scheduled Log completed] ~Definitely a full day, but the Captain needs to get this completed.~ Divon thought for a moment longer. "Computer... amend schedule. 1830 Captain Remae Ktell, ensure he is notified," stated Divon aloud. [Schedule amended.] Divon nodded. He knew the captain was reluctant to meet with him, but Divon also knew it was a necessary step. Especially now that Starfleet intelligence was on board. Divon had no desire to see his captain be removed due to not following regulations. With that thought, Divon brought up the file of Commander Tahlmari and waited for his imminent arrival. He knew he had appointments and, as per general protocol put higher ranking officers first... well, except for the Captain... no choice there but to put him later. That way they could go about their business. He took one last look at Tahlmari's file as the doorchime rang. "Come on in!" said Divon brightly... well, as brightly as he could muster at this time of day. In walked a Zakdorn. Divon had never really seen one before. He knew they generally did administrative duties, but he also knew from Tahlmari's file that he was no typical Zakdorn. "Good morning Commander. How are you today?" asked Divon. (Reply Tahlmari) "Can I get you something sir? I'm going to have a Raktajino myself," stated Divon, rising to the replicator. (Reply Tahlmari) "Very good. So... let's get started. I'll be honest right off the cuff. I am a Betazoid, but I don't generally use that ability in counselling sessions without a good reason. These are just routine psych evaluations, so I have no intention of using them," stated Divon. He knew that his patients often were leary about that aspect. Either the Captain had to order him to use his abilities or there had to be a reason in terms of helping his patient when in dire need. (Reply Tahlmari) "So, Commander Tahlmari, how do you like the Spectre?" asked Divon. (Reply Tahlmair) Divon nodded, "If I may ask, what led to you being posted here?" (Reply Tahlmair) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office- Commander Tahlmari- 0834) Tahl entered the office and the first thing that struck him was how young this counselor was. Although being in Strategic Operations gave him access to otherwise unseen information, he hadn't really familiarized himself with the entire Spectre crew. Now he wished that he'd bonded up on this counselor last night. It's not as if he'd been sleeping. "Good morning Commander. How are you today?" asked Divon. "Morning Counselor," Tahl replied. "I'm awake anyway. Still recovering from my trip out here I guess." he moved over to the desk and offered his hand. Lronen had a fair strong handshake, which was usually a good sign. "Can I get you something sir? I'm going to have a Raktajino myself," stated Lronen, rising to the replicator. Tahl raised an eyebrow. Typical ploy, to get the subject to relax, but he was never into any of those kind of drinks. He didn't even like coffee. "Water would be fine," he said, sitting in the chair at the desk. "Very good," Lronen said, and brought the tall glass of wter to him. "So... let's get started. I'll be honest right off the cuff. I am a Betazoid, but I don't generally use that ability in counselling sessions without a good reason. These are just routine psych evaluations, so I have no intention of using them." "I would expect no less," Tahl replied, quite aware of the telepathic rules of conduct in Starfleet. "Although, I've never known a routine evaluation to be anything routine." He smiled at the counselor. "So, Commander Tahlmari, how do you like the Spectre?" he asked. Tahl looked at him for a moment. "Well, since I only arrived last night, and you are only the second person that I've interacted with so far, I'd say it's been a fairly positive experience, so far." Lronen nodded, "If I may ask, what led to you being posted here?" "You can ask," Tahl replied glibbly, "but if I told you then I'd have to kill you." He could see the confusion in the counselors eyes. He sighed and then continued, "I am here under the orders of Admiral LoDona, and will be working with your crew in the command structure. For anything further than that, you'd need a higher security clearance." "May I ask how you like the spectre?" (reply Lronen) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Spectre: Main Shuttlebay “ TAC/SC/aFO Pierce Orde “ 0850) Pierce Orde strode into the shuttlebay, coffee in hand. After a couple inquires, he managed to find H'Chir. "Mr. H’Chir, I hear you have some plans to give this bay a make over. What were you thinking of?" (Reply H'Chir) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre, Main Shuttlebay – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 0854) “Mr. H’Chir, I hear you have some plans to give this bay a make over. What were you thinking of?” “Come this way and I’ll show you my two ideas.” H’Chir was in his element as he led the Commander up the ladder and into the shuttlebay control room. Manipulating the controls with an ease he hadn’t felt in days he began a demonstration of his first plan. The two men stood wordlessly and watched as one of the shuttles began to lift off the deck, held in place by the bay’s main tractor beam it lifted slowly upwards. “The trouble with the Captain’s “lift” idea is that whatever support structure you use to elevate the shuttle would need to be able to return to the ground in order to unload it. So all your doing is shifting your limited floor space up to head height.” At this point the shuttle he’d selected began to drift to port as a second tractor beam took over controlling the its motion. “The obvious way around this is to have a network of tractor beams capable of positioning the shuttle on the raised place, and if you’re doing that why bother having a lift at all? Why not have…” the shuttle touched down and H’Chir turned to face the First Officer triumphantly, “a shelf!” Having reached the dramatic conclusion of his display, the Andorian added “If you agree, I plan to replicate the effect to starboard, “ and waited for Commander Orde’s response. (Reply Orde, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre: Main Shuttlebay “ TAC/SC/aFO Pierce Orde “ 0856) Orde watched the shuttle shift slowly through the shuttlebay, allowing H'Chir to lead his attention. At the conclusion, he grinned at the Andorian. "An elegant proposal and just crazy enough to work, Ensign," he said. "Montgomery Scott himself would be impressed. How rapidly can we deploy a shuttle using your shelf and fetcher system? Can we get to them under emergency conditions?" (Reply H’Chir) "And I'd want to secure them to your shelf. Just in case we get knocked around." (Reply H'Chir) (USS Spectre, Main Shuttlebay – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 0857) The First Officer was smiling at him, clearly impressed with the first of H’Chir’s two solutions to the overcrowding in the shuttlebay. “An elegant proposal… and just crazy enough to work, Ensign; Montgomery Scott himself would have been impressed.” A subtle shift in tone signaled the end of the praise and the start of the practicalities. “How rapidly can we deploy a shuttle using your shelf-and-fetcher system? Can we get to them under emergency conditions?” The Andorian was about to respond when Orde added a final query, “And I’d want to secure them to your shelf; just in case we get knocked around.” “Sir, I’m pretty sure our deployment times shouldn’t be affected by this system. The tractors are slow at first as the trajectories are awkward to plot, but once the load and unload patterns have been established we ought to be able to hand the rest over the computer if needed. We could even fly the shuttles out manually, although I wouldn’t recommend that except in emergencies. The room is going to feel a lot tighter from the cockpit.” A quirky grin appeared on the Andorian’s face as he began steering the conversation again, “However, there are always alternatives.” Taking a few steps over to the console dedicated to the bay’s cargo transporter, H’Chir nodded to the technician on duty. “Energise.” Infront of all those watching, the shuttle craft that moments before had been placed so delicately on the Spectre’s new shuttle shelf disappeared from view in a cascade of light. H’Chir enjoyed watching the reaction wash over his senior officer’s face. Recognition of the standard Starfleet transporter beam gave way to an unspoken question when the shuttle failed to reappear anywhere in the bay. H’Chir stared down at the open panel beneath the console, watching the lights twinkling. By way of explanation he said, “My second option.” Indulging in a pause for dramatic effect, the Andorian dropped to his haunches and finally carried on by saying, “I’ve modified the shuttlebay’s cargo transporter; cross-wired it with a little project of mine based on one of Montgomery Scott’s more brilliant ideas. Using a recursive loop, we can store a shuttle in the transport pattern buffers without needing to rematerialise it anywhere.” He nodded at the technician again, and the shuttle reappeared back on the shelf. “Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee the looped pattern much past fifteen minutes. It’s just too much stored information and energy to keep bottled up indefinitely. Still, fifteen minutes at high warp and a phase cloak could come in handy for a snatch and run operation.” In many ways the Commander’s response to this idea would be more important to H’Chir; more personal. After all, this was a personal project he’d been working on, and even with its limitations H’Chir was certain it could be very useful. Even so, it was a far from ideal situation to present to one’s commanding officer and without realizing it H’Chir held his breath. He still couldn't believe that he had been beamed over to a Norway-Class starship directly from inside the Academy Commandant's office. He hadn't thought that the USS Miramar's obviously very adept helmsman would have been able to deliver him here in one piece. They had travelled at a speed close to Admiral Jopek's predicted warp 9.9 most of the way, and then had had to negotiate their way to within transporter range of this ship, while meandering through what had seemed to him a "sea" of shuttlecrafts out here, in the supposed space frontier. (Reply from Jahnson, Banowsky, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre-Bridge-CONN/OPS/3O Will Banowsky-12.20) Will was sitting at the helm when Remae returned to the bridge. He was loaded on Caffeine and very alert. "Mr. Banowsky, engage the cloaking device. Prepare to resume course, warp 9.", Remae ordered sitting down again. "Aye Sir," Will said as he engaged the cloaking device and then resumed the course at Warp 9. "Warp 9 engaged, cloaking device engaged. Everything operating normally." (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Deck 5 - CMO - Williams- 1225) Andrew picked up his PADD and looked at the list of crew members he still had left to inoculate. ~ah yes Divon.~ "Computer locate Counsellor Lronen." [Counsellor Lronen is in his Office] "Is he alone?" [Affermative] ~grate at least I won't be interrupting one of his sessions~ (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office, CMO, Williams 1233) Andrew noched on the counsellors door and entered. "Hi Lronen I hope that I am not desturbing you. I just woundered if I could catch you for a minute" (reply Lronen) "I've been asked by the Captain to inoculate the crew against the radiation were expecting to receive." he got out a hypospray. "Just to warn you that this is quite potent and if you feel unwell at all please come to sickbay right away okay." (reply Lronen) Andrew injected the hypospray into the offered arm and stood back. "now that's done with. how are things going with you and your work." (reply Lronen) (reply Lronen, any ) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre- Counsellor's Office- SFI Agent, Ensign Hampton- 1522) Aeryn was early for her appointment, she was a little nervous but calmed herself. She had passed these types of exams before. It was nothing to be worried about, she had checked the doctor's schedule and this was the only time he was free. She stepped up to his door and rang the chime. He beckoned her to enter. (Reply COUNC) Aeryn entered the office and took a seat, and she handed her appointment PADD over to the man standing in front of her. She got comfortable in the chair and crossed her legs. The councilor seemed very eager to begin the exam. Aeryn had learned very early in her career to never trust an eager man. An eager man is likely to do what ever it takes to get what he is eager for, but what was the councilor eager for? "Thank you for seeing me so late in the day councilor. I understand your busy schedule." (Reply COUNC) (posted by Bobby) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office, COUNS, Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 1524) "Thank you for seeing me so late in the day councilor. I understand your busy schedule." "Not a problem Ensign Hampton. I have to get through the entire crew. As per the Captain's orders every person setting foot on the ship gets a psych exam. As you're an SFI Agent, yours is very important," replied Divon with a smile. He knew that the captain was not happy having this woman on board, but despite that, he wouldn't let it cloud his professional judgement. (Reply Hampton) "So, tell me a bit about yourself Ensign," said Divon. He had been given permission to probe and was a fairly strong telepath but he would avoid using it unless absolutely necessary.
