Stardate: 2406.11.11 (USS Spectre, Bridge – Ensign Alexander MacDonald – 1515) =/\=“Ronsworth to Science Officer MacDonald, could you meet me in my office.=/\= Alexander allowed himself a small sigh of frustration as he tapped his commbadge, “I’m on my way, Ensign.” With a few taps at his console, he assigned the information on his console to his personal computer space and cleared it from the science console and headed for the turbolift. (posted by Michael) (USS Spectre, CSO’s Office – Ensign Alexander MacDonald – 1519) “You wanted to see me, sir?” (Reply Ronsworth, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Deck 15, Jeffries Tube Junction – Ensign H’Chir – 1522) Blocking the doctor’s path into the Jeffries junction, H’Chir threw down the gauntlet, “Was there anything else you wanted, Doctor?” "I was just wanting to stretch my legs and get out of sickbay for a bit.” The medical officer was clearly picking up H’Chir’s ‘go away’ vibe, but it was equally clear that he wasn’t going to let it stop him – yet. “What are you doing down here anyway? Is there anything you would like a hand with?" “It’s nothing, Doctor. Just a routine maintenance check. I shall be finished shortly. Now, If there’s nothing else…” (posted by Michael) (USS Spectre-Main Engineering-Ensign H'Chir-15.44) “There’s no secret to it, Ensign. We are busy. There’s plenty of work to be done for now.” "Alright then, well I need to head to the bridge, so I'll be seeing you around. Oh one more thing, do you play poker? I'm trying to organize a game tonight around 22.00 hours, let me know over my commbadge if you are interested and I'll give you the details" “I will… consider it.” (Reply Williams, Banowsky if desired) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre: Observational Lounge- TAC/SC/aFO Pierce Orde - 1800) "Pierce, that makes you Acting First Officer, again.", Remae smiled briefly at the Head of Security, knowing how much he hated the command positions. Orde nodded once. "Just can't seem to keep me out of that chair, eh?" he quipped. ~Just so long as I'm not dropped in your chair again, Captain.~ On his PADD, he made note of the paperwork shift and resigned himself to getting his assistants to get back into the habit of keeping Security autonomous. "I promise not to scratch her if you leave her in my care, Captain." Later in the briefing, he tossed off a quick salute to Banowsky as the man was slid a PADD from the captain. "Pierce, teach him everything you know about Command." "Aye sir." He sat through most of the briefing, absorbing what Remae said and making notes on his PADD. ~Class Y, eh? Nasty buggers.~ "Pierce, warm up the weapons and post surprise tactical drills for the entire crew, I want us to be ready for anything." "Aye aye, sir. We'll be ready for anything short of omnipotent tricksters." (posted by Joe) (USS Spectre, Observation Lounge – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1801) The Captain had stood by and watched whilst his officers gathered in the Observation Lounge, each one dithering around the replicator to choose a beverage before the meeting could begin. Nonetheless, the Bajoran opened the meeting with his typical polite attitude: "Thank you all for coming. "Firstly, I want to mention that our First Officer, Commander Schofield has been reassigned and has already departed on his new assignment. From what I was told before he left, he has been assigned to Geneva to head up the new exploration task force." The look on Remae’s face made it clear what he thought of this latest news. "Pierce, that makes you Acting First Officer, again." “Just can’t seem to keep me out of that chair, eh? I promise not to scratch her if you leave her in my care, Captain.” "While we're on the subject of roster rotations, I have the pleasure in informing you all that I am making Ensign Banowsky Third Officer on the Spectre. The 3O position will working in concert with his CONN and Operational duties.” The Andorian’s eyes rolled skyward in displeasure at this latest news. ~Great! Another reason for him to be poking around my engineroom!~ “The position will mean that Mr Banowsky will learn all there is to know about Bridge Operations and Starship Command, Pierce, teach him everything you know about Command." “Aye sir,” their new first officer aimed a mock salute at his new ‘pupil’. For his part, the Operations officer’s smile beamed across the table, "I'm honored sir. I also look forward to working with Commander Orde." "Before I get onto the new mission orders, Ensign H'Chir, at last count we have two runabouts and several shuttles in the shuttlebay,” the Andorian bristled, surprised at hearing his name mentioned, “it must be getting cramped down there. Can you devise a system to maximise space. I was thinking that there is a lot of height in the bay but only one level, perhaps a lift system could be installed? Anyway, have your teams think about it and make some recommendations." With an terse exchange of nods, the meeting moved on and the Captain began to relay their current orders: "Okay, let's begin. Our orders are to proceed to Sector 24613 and towards a Class Y Star, where, unusual sensors readings could indicate a ship or ships in the area, we've been ordered to sneak in and have a good look around.", Remae brought up a long range scan of the star, it was a nasty, brutal star, larger than most with a lot of solar flare activity. The star being shown on the display screen was typical of class-Y: big and ugly. H’Chir winced as he contemplated the assault on the shields from such a heavy and wide spectrum of radiation. "You've heard of a Class Y planet, they are rare but they are nasty, the Class Y star is the same only 1000s of times worse, sensors will be unable to detect any ships until we get close." The display shifted to show a wider starscape and the route connecting the Spectre’s current position to sector 24613, and the Captain continued: "We'll set a course shortly, 52nd Command has designated this a priority mission so we have to get there fast. Mr H'Chir, I'll need warp 9 for the next 24 hours and then the cloak has to be perfect, we have to sneak up to and even through this star without being detected." Adding both requirements to the list on his PADD, H’Chir’s only reply was a succinct “Yessir.” The Captain carried on giving out orders to the other department heads, and H’Chir struggled not to panic at the list of systems critical to this new mission as it grew and grew: ~Shuttlebay… Engines… Cloak… Shields… Sensors… Weapons… Is there any system we won’t need running hot?~ "Ensign Banowsky, lay in a course and engage at warp 9. Dismissed." (Reply from any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre-Bridge-Chief OPS/CONN/3O Ensign Will Banowsky-18.40) Will had finished adapting the science station into an integrated Science and Secondary OPS station. He needed to tell Garry of course and go over some details with him. "Banowsky to Ronsworth" he said tapping his commbadge. (reply Garry) "Hey Garry, I've integrated the science station to serve as a science station and a secondary OPS Station. That should make your job tomorrow easier." (reply Garry) "As soon as the mission is over I will de-integrate the station, until then have fun. You may want to come up and familiarize yourself with everything, and if you want, I can give you a tutorial. I'll be on the bridge, just contact me if you need me. (reply Garry) "Banowsky out." Will then got up and headed toward the CONN/OPS station and relieved the current crewman on duty. Ronsworth out” =^="Banowsky out."=^= Garry got up from his desk and walked to the door he turned down the corridor and headed for the turbo lift, “Main Bridge.” The lift sprang to life and began its ascent. (posted by Bobby) (USS Spectre- Bridge- aCSO Ronsworth- 1842) Garry entered the bridge and looked around. He had never really looked at the bridge. He was not a bridge officer so his job rarely took him to deck one, he was excited to be near the action. His job very seldom allowed him to leave the research section or even his office. He looked to the forward section of the bridge, there was Will sitting at the CONN/OPTs station. Garry walked up to him. “Hey Will. I’m ready when ever you are.” (Reply Will, room for more iyw) They walked over to what used to be Science One, the consolidated science station. Garry took a seat at the console. “Wait let me just see what I understand first, I did take basic OPTs training at the Academy. Let me see what I know.” Garry took a look at the Secondary OPTs panel. “Here’s the Communications select, the integrated sensor terminal, the engine readouts, and the uplink to main engineering.” Garry then looked up at the display on the panel behind the console. “These are the readouts for the cloaking device, warp core, transporters, shield modulation and finally the main deflector. Very impressive Will, did I miss anything?” (Reply Will, room for much more) “Alright then I’m going to take a few minutes to get to know this station a little better on my own, I’ll give you a call if I need anymore help. Also, so I can alert my staff to be ready, about what time are we going to be arriving in the system?” (Reply Will) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre-Bridge-Chief OPS/CONN/3O Ensign Will Banowsky-18.43) Will was at the CONN/OPS station monitoring the ships course and progress when Garry approached him. “Hey Will. I’m ready when ever you are.” "I'm ready Garry, just hold on one second," Will said sad as he motioned at a crewman stationed at a secondary console on the bridge. "Crewman Perez, please momentarily take the helm." "Aye sir," replied the crewman as he headed for the CONN/OPS station. Will and Garry walked over to what used to be Science One, the consolidated science station. Very impressive Will, did I miss anything?” "No not really. Except that I can override some of the OPS functions from my stations, and I will lock out all functions that you don't need tomorrow, so you there isn't an overflow of information, and you can easily access the science functions. But yeah, that is pretty much everything." “Alright then I’m going to take a few minutes to get to know this station a little better on my own, I’ll give you a call if I need anymore help. Also, so I can alert my staff to be ready, about what time are we going to be arriving in the system?” "I'm not to certain, sometime tomorrow, close to 10.00 hours. That’s just an estimate, if everything goes smoothly. Anyways, I need to return to the helm." Will then headed back towards the CONN/OPS station and got back to work. (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1900) The ship was running at warp nine and had been for over half an hour. The energy pulsing through the ship was evident, not just in the thrumming of the warpcore that vibrated up through the deckplates, not just in the pulsing lights strobing out from the matter/antimatter injector assembly. The entire crew seemed to have gained a new energy and focus. Conversations had been short, clipped and barely above a whisper. However, the engines had held up even better than expected and showed no signs of strain – for the time being – and H’Chir had finally decided it was time to move onto the wider orders. To that end he’d gathered most of the alpha shift together and stood before them, framed in the light from the core, he opened the briefing, knowing that similar information would be distributed to the other shifts. Unlike the Captain, he wasted no time with pleasantries: “We’re headed for a system with a class-Y star. That means we’ll be running with full radiation shields. The radiation also means that we’re not sure what’s out there, so the Captain wants to approach under cloak. Given that we’ll be under cloak with full radiation shields flying through interference soup, we’ll need to find a way to boost both the active and passive sensors. We’ll continue on course at warp nine, and the Captain wants to have full weapons capability when we arrive. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say he enjoys doing things the hard way.” The looks on the faces of the assembled crew showed a range of emotions from trepidation at their latest assignment, to amusement at their chief’s quirky ways. One or two even appeared uncertain whether the Andorian had been joking in his reference to this mission’s ‘challenges’. “Your assignments are on these PADDs and I’ve already uplinked some information about class-Y stars and the specific effects you can expect to see in your assigned systems. I’ll expect progress reports every two hours.” Concluding the briefing, a quirky smile played across H’Chir’s features as he detailed his own assignment. “For my part, I’ll be handling the last of the Captain’s requests: double our shuttlebay space. Why he doesn’t just apply for a bigger ship is beyond me!” (Reply any, none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre: Captain's Ready Room - TAC/SC/aFO Pierce Orde - 2120) "Pierce, I want the Agent kept under 24/7 surveillance, Counsellor, I want you to dig up anything you can on her, where she was before and even anything you can read on her telepathically. Whatever it takes to find out what she is doing here and what she wants. Questions?" "Aye aye sir: spook the spook. She'll know, of course, that we're watching her. Is that a problem, sir?" (Reply Remae) The Counsellor's idea gave Pierce a grin. ~Psych him out? Bad pun, Pierce.~ "Thank you. Pierce, keep her away from me." "Aye, sir." He offered as he left. (posted by Joe) (USS Spectre: Security Office - TAC/SC/aFO Lt. Commander Pierce Orde - 2150) ~I've been on duty for how long?~ Pierce mused as he filed through the paperwork on his terminal. His auto-sort program usually did an excellent job of flagging items and so forth, but every so often he had to reprogram it to accommodate like when he was being shifted in his position. ~Of course, I'm the FO as well as the security chief. Not the first time.~ With a brief sigh, he pushed his own design projects further back onto his schedule. Tomorrow he could get the ensign's feet wet in Command. =/\= Lieutenant Commander Orde to Agent Hampton. Please report to the Security office. =/\= (Reply Hampton) (Reply any) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre- Personal Quarters- SFI Agent, Ensign Hampton- 2151) =/\= Lieutenant Commander Orde to Agent Hampton. Please report to the security office. =/\= Aeryn tapped her commbadge, “Eye sir, on my way.” She put her debriefing PADD down on her desk and left her quarters. She was glad she had decided to keep her uniform on and not change into her pajamas just yet. She entered the Turbolift. “Deck Nine” (Posted by Bobby) (USS Spectre- Chief Security Officer’s Office- SFI Agent, Ensign Hampton- 2154) She rang the chime on the side of the dark red door. A voice from the other side called and she entered. “Agent Aeryn Hampton reporting as ordered, sir.” (Reply Orde) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre-Ensign Banowsky's Quarters- CSO Ronsworth- 22.11) “Before you but you decide whether to play this hand or not Garry I have an idea. Since we don't know each other very well, yet, and this game is a mingling activity to get to know each other better, how bout we make it a little interesting. Add Add a little truth or dare to the game. The winner of each hand gets to ask one question to the losers, any question they want. The loser's either have to answer or give the winner 20 worth of chips. You all want to play like this, or just play normally." “I’m game, if the others are, truth or dare is a traditional Earth game and is a great way to break the ice.” Garry looked at his cards, he had the king of hearts and the jack of spades… nothing yet, still the prospects could be wonderful. He looked around as the others began to put on poker faces. (Reply all) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre-Ensign Banowsky's Quarters- CMO - Williams- 22.14) Andrew looked down at his cards. He looked around at his stone faced companions. ~Great how do I become stoned faces. I know become a Vulcan~ He leant forward and grabbed a hand full of gagh. and swallowed them quickly. ~Okay lets try and put them into a false sense of security~ He picked up a couple of his chips. "Can I increase my bet now or do I have to wait?" (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-Ensign Banowsky's Quarters-OPS/CONN/3O Ensign Will Banowsky-22.15) “I’m game, if the others are, truth or dare is a traditional Earth game and is a great way to break the ice.” Garry said, as Will smiled, he couldn't wait to get the game running. "can I increase my bet now or do I have to wait?"Asked Andrew, as Will looked at him and also smiled. "No, I need to bet first. Alright lets see, I'm in." Will said as he put his chips in. He then turned to Andrew and smiled, "Alright Doc, it's your turn to bet, you have to but in 10 chips anyways to play the hand, and if you want to raise you can, if not then you don't have two." (reply Andrew) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Swift-Command Compartment- CONN Lok- 22.45) Lok found it strange that Starfleet would send him so early out on assignment. Usually they waited until the ship came into a star base. The Ensign piloting the type 11 shuttle craft didn't seem to happy about the whole event either. Lok piped out trying to lighten the ensign's mood. "So Brown, do they usually send you out to deliver fresh recruits to their ships." ~Good thinking, way to steer away from what is making him mad.~ " Nope, but the one time they do they decide I am the man for the job." "Oh I see...." " No offense, but this duty is hardly worth my time." "I expect this is boring, but we are almost there" "Yeah, and then I have to fly back by myself." A chirp from the console informed the two of the USS Spectre coming close. The Ensign sighed and brought the shuttle to a slow speed. The shuttle swung in under the larger ship. Lok keyed the communications. "This is the USS swift to the USS Spectre." =/\=(reply Remae)=/\= "Permission to come aboard. I have been assigned to the USS Spectre." =/\=(reply Remae)=/\= Lok looked at the schematics of the ship. The shuttle bay was indeed crowded and it seemed a ship was already docked with the Spectre. "Alright, Permission to Transport over" =/\=(reply Remae)=/\= Just then Lok felt the unnerving feeling of the transporter taking its effect on him. The shuttle faded in a shower of blue light as he and his luggage made its way over to the USS Spectre. (reply Remae) (posted by Chris Neighbors) [End Compile]
