In doing so, Tom let his junior officers and enlisted personnel go have some fun. Phil Sheridan would be relieving him at 1700 The thought of his young ensigns and Petty Officers relaxing on the Starbase brought back memories when he, Ahmed and others from their Academy class first arrived on Starbase Geneva. The door from the turbo lift swished open and a Bolian female entered the bridge She headed for Lt Xim and reported in - "Ensign Junior Grade Mitena Rixx, reporting for duty, sir." She said, offering her PADD to him. Tom looked at the Ensign named Rixx. He heard her reporting in. Tom scanned the available billets on Deck 5. He located an open one and assigned her to it. Jackson watched the exchange between Xim and the Bolian Ensign. Xim ordered Tom to assign her quarters and log her security codes. Tom smiled at the Ensign replying "Welcome aboard Ensign. I'm Lt Tom Jackson - Chief of Operations. Your quarters are on Deck 5. Please let me know if you need anything" Tom told Rixx. (reply: ensign Rixx) Lt Xim's attention was directed towards an incoming priority signal. "Ensign Rixx, I am going off-shift soon. Would you like to take you to your new quarters and show you around a bit?" Tom asked her. (reply: Rixx) (Posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Corridor – ACEO Lt. T’Kron - 1650) T’Kron knew that the Second Officer was going to need some answers to her many questions. He was aware that she knew very little about her own home planet and her former life. Reading about a subject from a computer file was nothing like remembering an experience one has had personally. ~Most computer files leave out too many details.~ As the topic was too private to discuss using an open commbadge link, T’Kron had decided to speak with Lt. Sullivan in person. Eventually he was at the door to her quarters ringing the chime. (Reply T’Larah Sullivan, Any) (Posted by Sheila Mayer) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 1 - 1651*) "Welcome aboard mister Rixx." The Lieutenant said "I see that you have been assigned to the Engineering department. Have you been assigned your quarters yet and have you checked in with medical?" "Not as of yet, sir." Mitena said in reply to both of his queries, "This is my first stop." The Lieutenant looked to the operations station and addressed the individual that was stationed there, "Mister Jackson, please see to it that Miss Rixx is assigned quartered and that her security codes are activated." Mitena was pleased to see the Officer return her smile before introducing himself. "Welcome aboard Ensign. I'm Lt Tom Jackson - Chief of Operations. Your quarters are on Deck 5. Please let me know if you need anything" "Yes sir." She glanced back to the officer in the center chair as he addressed her again. "After you've settled in, you'll need to report to sickbay for your medical records update and then you'll need to see Lieutenant Morrow, who is currently heading up Engineering." Subconciously she added a check list in her head of things to do and the order she was supposed to attend to them in, as directed by the Lieutenant. "Yes sir, I'll see to it straight away." "Again welcome aboard the Rosenante, she is a fine ship." "Ensign Rixx, I am going off-shift soon. Would you like to take you to your new quarters and show you around a bit?" Lieutenant Jackson asked. Mitena's smile grew wider. "I would be happy to accept that offer, Lieutenant." She replied with a slight nod of her head. Mitena moved so that she wasn't standing in the middle of the bridge while she waited for the Lieutenant to go off shift. (reply Jackson) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters - 2O/CTAC - Lieutenant T'Larah Sullivan - 1652) T'Larah was busy with a PADD in her hand loaded with everything she could find in the computer banks about Vulcan, trying to remember about her own culture. Norman was busy taking a nap, having gorged himself on the seafood meal he was understandably tired. Suddenly Norman's eyes snapped open as if he heard a loud noise. Just then the door chime rang. [Beep] "Come in." T'Larah said in response to the door chime. (Reply T'Kron) "Hello Lieutenant," she said an paused trying to remember who was in front of her, "I'm sorry with going through the genetic re-sequencing twice, I have a difficulty remembering names." (Reply T'Kron) "Very well T'Kron, you yourself are Vulcan, is there any personal insight that you can bring to this? I have reviewed my file, I am over forty standard Earth years old, and I've forgotten all of that learned culture and knowledge, and have been researching Vulcan culture and all I can find of the ritual I've been told I'm going to participate in is that it's called the Fal-tor-pan, the last time it was successfully attempted was over one hundred years ago and the person that went through it was Ambassador Spock, and that it is a very secretive Vulcan religious rite." she said frustration coloring her words. ~How does he remain in control constantly?~ (Reply T'Kron) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Transporter room 1- CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1- 1653) =^=Affirmative Sir,=^= Jon replied. ^=Lieutenant Xim, how about me relieving you at 2030? I don’t believe I’ve met you. Perhaps we could get acquainted over a breakfast in the morning, providing we don’t have any unforeseen conflicts in our duties tomorrow, of course.=^= The ship's computer must have opened a new connection to Xim who was most likely on the bridge at this point when Nayati addressed him. The Lieutenant responded quickly. =^=That would be most welcomed sir,=^= Xim replied, =^= my morning schedule is already clear, so simply let me know when you would like to have breakfast.=^= Ahmed smiled, it was good to see his officers speaking on more than just professional terms. It usually meant that they would me even better at their jobs when the stress was on later. "Excellent gentlemen," he stated as he stepped up onto the transporter platform. "Feel free to work out the details between yourselves. Salid out." With that he tapped his commbadge to close the channel and looked up at Ensign Dawson. "Good afternoon Ensign." he greeted the younger man. "Good afternoon captain," Dawson replied. "Is everything ready?" "Yes, sir. I already have coordinates from the admiral's office. They're expecting you at any time." Ahmed nodded, "Well let's get this over with shall we? Energize when ready chief." Dawson nodded. "Aye sir, energizing and good luck captain." (reply Nayati iyw) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters – ACEO Lt. T’Kron - 1654) "Come in," T'Kron heard. He stepped through the door as it opened. "Hello Lieutenant," she said and paused trying to remember who was in front of her. "I'm sorry with going through the genetic re-sequencing twice. I have a difficulty remembering names." “I am Lt. T’Kron, one of the Assistant Chief Engineers aboard the ship. I thought you’d like to have some questions answered.” "Very well T'Kron, you yourself are Vulcan. Is there any personal insight that you can bring to this? I have reviewed my file; I am over forty standard Earth years old, and I've forgotten all of that learned culture and knowledge, and have been researching Vulcan culture and all I can find of the ritual I've been told I'm going to participate in is that it's called the Fal-tor-pan. The last time it was successfully attempted was over one hundred years ago and the person that went through it was Ambassador Spock, and that it is a very secretive Vulcan religious rite," she said. The barrage of words showed her obvious frustration. “I understand. I propose we sit down and go through your questions to make sure we answer them fully,” suggested T’Kron. “It may be difficult however to answer them all as I suspect you know very little. Be aware that as you obtain answers, you may yet have more questions.” (Reply T’Larah Sullivan) “To answer your curiosity about the Rite of Fal-tor-pan, I can only tell you what I know,” explained T’Kron. “This ritual involves transferring the memory engrams contained in the katra into the recipient in correct sequence as originally experienced to ensure integrity and closure for the success of the recipient. This can take a long time and the recipient is accompanied and encouraged telepathically by a group since the ritual is exhausting and personal. I can assure you that no one would mean you harm or would question the rightness or wrongness of any memories of past actions. The experiences that each of us has had in our lives are our own. However the sharing of so much in such detail can be very intimate.” (Reply T’Larah Sullivan) “To help you with better understanding the history and culture of our people, I would suggest that you carefully study the teachings of Surak. He spoke thoroughly on many topics and had given our species insight over their own passions and emotions. Instead of being ruled by emotion he taught us to have better control of them using logic and to learn from them. Through this we were able to survive and unite to prosper in relative peace.” (Reply T’Larah Sullivan) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Vulcan - Gol Continent - Vulcan Science Academy - Doctor S'Vek - 1700) S'Vek had not heard from his niece T'Larah since she left to rejoin the crew of the Rosenante. This was really not like her. Her contact messages were always brief and tactfull, but never tardy. S'Vek decided that it would be prudent to use what little pull he had with Star Fleet as a scientist and professor at the Vulcan Science Academy. He decided to do something that he hadn't done for over four earth decades, the last time he used the Star Fleet protocols to start a priority one message. ~ The last time I had to send one of these, T'Larah's mother and father both died.~ Even though it had been over forty years, since he had done so, his eidetic memory allowed him to recall every proceedure. A few moments went by and his hail was recieved and responded to. (Reply Lt Xim or Bridge officer) "Greetings, my name is Doctor S'Vek, I need to speak to your Captain or Executive Officer about an important matter." he said calmly. (Reply Lt Xim or Bridge officer) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- Gamma Shift Leader- Lt Xim- Day 1- 1703) "Sir, I have a priority one communication for either the Captain or the First Officer. Form a Doctor S'Vek of the Vulcan Science academy. The codes are twenty years old, but still valid sir." Xim looked up from his paperwork and said simply, "I will take it in the captain's ready room." "Aye sir." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready room- Gamma Shift Leader- Lt Xim- Day 1- 1704) Xim sat down in the captain's chair and turned the display monitor towards him. He normally wouldn't have done this, but with the captain on Geneva talking with the admiralty and the first Officer on required leave, that left him very little choice. He reached up and tapped the button that connected the call. =^=Greetings, my name is Doctor S'Vek, I need to speak to your Captain or Executive Officer about an important matter.=^= an elder Vulcan said calmly. "My apologies doctor S'Vek, but Captain Salid is in a meeting with Admiral Talbot and Commander Caskie is not aboard ship. I am the senior officer in command at this point. Can I assist you?" (reply S'Vek) (reply Rixx, Jackson, S'Vek) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Vulcan - Gol Continent - Vulcan Science Academy - Doctor S'Vek - 1705) "My apologies doctor S'Vek, but Captain Salid is in a meeting with Admiral Talbot and Commander Caskie is not aboard ship. I am the senior officer in command at this point. Can I assist you?" ~Salid? I thought it was Captain Rivers. I must have inaccurate information.~ "Very well Lieutenant, I am contacting you in regards to one of your crew members, Lieutenant Sullivan. I am her closest living relative, her mother's brother, and I know that with your recent mission, crew members don't always have the capability of contacting family during missions. The last time she contacted me Captain Rivers was in command of your vessel. It is not like her to be un-punctual, I'm sure as a fellow officer serving with her that you know exactly what I'm speaking of." only the shrewdest of observation could have detected concern in the gray haired Vulcan's demeanor. (Reply Lt. Xim) ~Could this be possible? The Fal-tor-pan has not been attempted in over one hundred Earth years. The last known person to go through the procedure was Ambassador Spock.~ "I see that is quite a fortunate series of events. Mister Xim, do you know enough of the circumstances leading up to her original demise, but I have a series of questions that must be answered. Do you know enough to answer them or will I need to wait for your Captain to finish speaking with the Admiralty?" S'Vek stated in a very cryptic manner. He wanted to ensure that this very sensitive subject was handled discretely. (Reply Lt Xim) ~ He may know enough for me to determine if T'Larah's Katra was saved and if so where it is.~ "Well Mister Xim, these questions pertain to Vulcan religious rights, and as such you are required by Star Fleet regulations to assist me in any way you can without impeding your mission." he said probably more chilly then he would have liked, but sometimes a change in tone is required to get information across to feeling species. (Reply Lt Xim) "I understand Lieutenant, no insult was meant, as I said this is a very important religious matter, and I would appreciate you continued assistance to the best of your ability." which was the closest most would hear from Doctor S'Vek to an apology. (Reply Lt Xim) "Thank you, at the time of her physical demise was there another non hostile sentient with in arms reach preferably with a close relationship? I understand that you have an individual that has worked on the same vessel as T'Larah for her entire Star Fleet career, they may have developed a friendship, a Mister Janeway? Was he there in attendance when T'Larah's life ended?" he inquired. (Reply Lt Xim) "Very well, has Mister Raschen the individual that was in close attendance, shown or exhibited strange or un-characteristic behavior, perhaps being more distant or distracted? Hallucinations, visions or memories that they did not experience?" he further inquired. (Reply Lt Xim) "I see. What were the circumstances leading to T'Larah's resurrection?" he asked, genuinely curious and also wondering if the circumstances would have changed or altered the transfer of her Katra. (Reply Lt Xim) "Is this Priest of Medicine available for consultation?" he asked. (Reply Lt Xim) "Your Chief Medical Officer? I understand that you are preparing as a ship for a much deserved shore leave, most ships do. Is there a way that your CMO could send me a report or perhaps a subspace conference, so that I may ask her of her knowledge of the events?" (Reply Lt Xim) "Thank you for your time and professionalism Lieutenant, I would appreciate that any further information that you can give me if any more becomes available." (Reply Lt Xim) "I look forward to further correspondence." (Reply Lt Xim) The channel with the Rosenante closed. It was now time for S'Vek to make preparations for T'Larah's physical and spiritual return. He knew that the High Priestess will want to know as much detail as possible about the Kobali procedure, but if he did not start preparations now, it may be too late before T'Larah made her way back to Vulcan. (Reply None) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready room- Gamma Shift Leader- Lt Xim- Day 1- 1706) =^=Very well Lieutenant, I am contacting you in regards to one of your crew members, Lieutenant Sullivan. The last time she contacted me Captain Rivers was in command of your vessel. It is not like her to be un-punctual, I'm sure as a fellow officer serving with her that you know exactly what I'm speaking of.=^= the gray haired Vulcan's replied in a manner typical of his species. "I understand completely, she is a very efficient officer. However considering that she has only recently returned from the dead, I imagine that an exception could be made for her lack of punctuality." Xim replied, "It is my understanding that she will be traveling to Vulcan soon to undertake some sort of Vulcan religious rites. I could convey to her your desire that she should visit you while she is there." =^=I see that is quite a fortunate series of events. Mister Xim, do you know enough of the circumstances leading up to her original demise, but I have a series of questions that must be answered. Do you know enough to answer them or will I need to wait for your Captain to finish speaking with the Admiralty?=^= S'Vek stated in a very cryptic manner. "I am willing to answer them to the best of my ability Doctor." the lieutenant replied. =^=Well Mister Xim, these questions pertain to Vulcan religious rites, and as such you are required by Star Fleet regulations to assist me in any way you can without impeding your mission.=^= S'Vek said succinctly. "I am aware of the regulations of which you speak, Doctor. I will help as I am able." Xim said in an equally brief manner. "I assure you I would not purposefully do otherwise." =^=I understand Lieutenant, no insult was meant, as I said this is a very important religious matter, and I would appreciate you continued assistance to the best of your ability.=^= Xim nodded his agreement. =^=Thank you, at the time of her physical demise was there another non hostile sentient with in arms reach preferably with a close relationship? Xim replied. =^=Very well, has Mister Raschen the individual that was in close attendance, shown or exhibited strange or un-characteristic behavior, perhaps being more distant or distracted? Hallucinations, visions or memories that they did not experience?=^= he further inquired. Xim raised an eyebrow. "That is difficult to answer doctor. Lieutenant Raschen is somewhat...eclectic. If there have been such deviations in his behavior I am not aware of them, although I have heard that he has been considerably less chaotic as of late and that he has taken up Vulcan martial arts in his off hours, although I myself have not witnessed these things personally." =^=I see. What were the circumstances leading to T'Larah's resurrection?=^= he asked, genuinely curious and also wondering if the circumstances would have changed or altered the transfer of her Katra. "Her body was reclaimed by a species named the Kobali. They manipulated her base genetic structure into that of a member of their species. Apparently this is how they reproduce. The transformation both into a Kobali reclamant and back was performed by a Priest of Medicine named Hasiyl." =^=Is this Priest of Medicine available for consultation?=^= S'Vek asked. Xim shook his head. " I am afraid that he is not. There was an accident in sickbay that claimed his life. He was assisted by our chief medical officer." =^=Your Chief Medical Officer? I understand that you are preparing as a ship for a much deserved shore leave, most ships do. Is there a way that your CMO could send me a report or perhaps a subspace conference, so that I may ask her of her knowledge of the events?=^= "I could speak to her on the matter on your behalf. She may be unable to release the details at this point due to privacy concerns. I will mention it to her, although I do not suspect that there will be any problems with her sending you the information that you have requested." Xim answered honestly. =^=Thank you for your time and professionalism Lieutenant, I would appreciate that any further information that you can give me if any more becomes available.=^= "I will do what I can Doctor." =^=I look forward to further correspondence.=^= "Peace and Long Life, Doctor S'Vek" Xim said in departing before the screen went blank. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 1 - 1745) Mitena double checked that she was going the right direction on the correct deck once again. She'd ended up in the wrong place once already because she'd been chatting with a crewman who was about to go on leave and had exited the turbolift on the wrong deck. After some consideration she determined that the detour wasn't completely a bad one since it had allowed for her to explore even more of the ship. As the doors slid open to the medical bay, she stepped inside. Other then a couple of personnel who seemed to be doing inventory tasks, the room was empty. "Excuse me." She said to a dark haired Lieutenant, "I need to report in to have my medical records updated. I just transferred to the ship." Mitena concluded with a smile as she offered her PADD to the Lieutenant. (reply Wyler) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay- CMO- Lt. Aleesa Wyler - Day 1 -1749) Aleesa stretched and then moved her hand to stifle a yawn that was trying to escape from her mouth. She had sent all the medical staff packing for some much needed R&R and in a little while longer she was going to be joining them. With their ship in Space Port the captain had agreed to allow the entire medical staff to stand down for a couple of days before starting on their leave rotations. Alee, in the meantime had decided that since she could send any emergencies to Geneva Medical, that she wouldn't have to worry about being disturbed long enough to get some backlogged paperwork and reports finished. The reports weren't difficult, they were simply time consuming. And that was the crux of the problem. As always any time that they had put into port and the hectic lifestyle of the sickbay attendant calmed, the paperwork was the specter that needed to be conquered worst. The more mundane reports would be delayed during any busy times, only the most vital reports and charts would be updated immediately. So that was the work that she was catching up on when the doors to the bay slid open and a Bolian woman walked in. Aleesa had been under the impression that there weren't any Bolians on board the Rosenante, yet here was one such person. In a fit of customary curiosity she put down her PADD and moved from her office to the main bay. The Bolian woman obviously saw her, after all, she was the only other person in the bay at the moment. "Excuse me," She said, " I need to report in to have my Medical Records updated. I just transferred to the ship." The woman smiled and offered Aleesa the PADD that she had been carrying. The CMO took the PADD and smiling looked at it. "Welcome aboard, Ensign Rixx." She greeted the Bolian woman standing before her, "Any relation to the famous Starfleet Captain of the same name?" She asked as she gestured for Mitena to follow her to a nearby Biobed. (reply Rixx) "Please have a seat." She said and patted the biobed cover with the palm of her right hand. "Been on board long, or did you literally just get here?" she asked as she transferred the authorizations from the PADD to the Ship's central computer. (reply Rixx) She then accessed the interface at the biobed and requested the Ensign's latest medical records from Starfleet Medical Command. "I'm Aleesa Wyler, the Rosenante's CMO. It's a pleasure to meet you." Aleesa said as she offered the Bolian her hand. (reply Rixx) The Computer beeped to let Aleesa know that the record transfer was completed. It was still amazing how fast data could travel from Earth. "Looks like you were assigned to a Nova Class starship last." She said, making small talk as she retrieved her medical tricorder to conduct a neural scan. (reply Rixx) "So what did you do there?" She asked as she conducted her scans. (reply Rixx) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay- CMO- Lt. Aleesa Wyler - Day 1 -1750*) "We did have a partial refit about a year back though. Changed out half the bulkheads and redid all the bonding junctures so they would be more efficient. That was very interesting because once we started putting things in place to spec, we had all these really small spaces that didn't quite mesh from prior refit that the ship had undergone." She said her hands moving as she spoke to show the dimensions of the spaces. "They ended up being perfect shape for the outbound relay housing. But that was kind of a fluke of the previous design." Aleesa just nodded as she ran her scans. She really didn't understand exactly what the ensign was talking about, nor did she know what a Outbound relay housing was. "That sounds like a fortunate fluke if you ask me." she replied generally. "So, am I all good and fit for duty, Doctor?" Rixx asked. Aleesa nodded as she flipped her tricorder closed. "You're fit as a fiddle and as healthy as a horse." she replied with a smile. "That's great. If it's fine with you, Sir, I'd like to go check in with Engineering so I can find out what my duty shift will be." the Bolian woman replied with a smile. "By all means, you're free to go about your business. " Alee said with a smile before adding, "And again, welcome aboard the Rosenante." "Thank you very much Doctor. I'm sure I'll be seeing you in the future." Mitena said with a mischievous grin as she headed out of the Med Bay. "I'm sure you will, with your medical history." Alee replied quietly with a shake of her head before heading back to her office. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 1 - 1752) Mitena waited while the Doctor reviewed the PADD. She wondered if the Doctor would end up seeing her many visits to the Medical bay for sprains and broken bones and chastise her 'reckless behavior' as Doctor Stepheons had. "Welcome aboard, Ensign Rixx. Any relation to the famous Starfleet captain of the same name? She asked, motioning Mitena to a Biobed. "Not that I know of. But I have a rather diverse family. So maybe he's a cousin or an uncle. It's possible." Mitena said in response with a slight shrug. "Please have a seat." She moved to sit where the Doctor had indicated and watched as the Doctor continued working on the PADD. "Been on board long, or did you literally just get here?" the Doctor asked. "Just aboard. I've been up to the Bridge and that's about it." She smiled a bit sheepishly, "that is if you don't count the around the wrong deck before I realized I was in the wrong place. "I'm Aleesa Wyler, the Rosenante's CMO. It's a pleasure to meet you." She took the offered hand and shook it as was the custom. "I am most pleased to meet you as well." She replied genuinely with a slight nod of her head. "Looks like you were assigned to a Nova Class starship last." Mitena watched with speculative interest as the doctor employed a variety of scans. She knew how all the equipment worked and what the general purpose was, but the results of their use were still beyond her. "Yes Sir. The Melinum. It is a very good ship." "So what did you do there?" "Most of the time just overseeing or doing general preventative maintenance." She paused for a moment as she thought about her job duties prior to this assignment. "We did have a partial refit about a year back though. But that was kind of a fluke of the previous design." (reply Whyler, iyw) "So, am I all good and fit for duty, Doctor?" She asked, knowing that she was in good health. She'd had a physical just before her reassignment and it hadn't turned up anything. (reply Whyler) "That's great. If it's fine with you, Sir, I'd like to go check in with Engineering so I can find out what my duty shift will be." (reply Whyler) Mitena waited for the Doctor to give her leave and got up off the Biobed. "Thank you very much Doctor. I'm sure I'll be seeing you in the future." She said with a mischievous grin as she headed out of the Med Bay. Once she was back in the hall she checked to see what would be the most direct route to take to get to engineering. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Engineering - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 1 - 1802) As Mitena came into Engineering she immediately began comparing what she was seeing to what she was used at her prior posting. It didn't take her very long to see that there would be plenty of things to do on the Rosenante. She headed past the Master Control Center and into the area that housed the two large side by side warp cores. With some willpower in play she managed to not stop and stare wide eyed like she'd never seen a warp core before. A constant rationalization that she'd have plenty of opportunity to see how everything on the ship worked in great detail helped. Where the Med Bay had been virtually empty and very quiet, Engineering was quite the opposite. There were engineers everywhere and even quite a few that had come over from the station. They were easily identifiable because of their duty jumpsuits. ~At least I know there will be plenty to do.~ She thought happily. Off to the right, she could see the Chief's office and wasted no time in heading in that direction. The sooner she made herself known, the sooner she could be a useful member of the crew. The door was open and she stepped into the threshold. "Excuse me, Sir." She said to the man behind the desk. "I've just transferred to the ship. My name is Mitena Rixx." She stepped forward to offer him her PADD. (reply Morrow) Mitena waited as he looked through information and hoped that she was making a good first impression. (reply Wyler, Morrow) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - CEO's Office - CEO - Lt. Alimi morrow - Day 1 - 1805) "Yes and then you'll need to take the secondary plasma manifolds off-line while you recalibrate the EPS transfer regulator, but not before you synchronize the Bustronic Pulse guides or you'll end up with skewed diagnostic results." Alimi was saying over his commbadge as he looked up through the transparent Aluminum window to his office that allowed him to view the main Engineering bay. He had the entire specs for the ship displayed on his desktop display terminal and was trying to explain to the head engineer from Geneva, how they had cobbled together the repair of the Main navigational deflector. He noticed a Bolian woman in a standard duty uniform enter the bay and head his way. ~ I wonder if that's the new ACEO?~ he asked himself. Once again, now that Martinovich was gone, he was again the acting CEO of the Rosenante. =^= So let me get this straight,=^= the voice of the human engineer at the other end of the commchannel said, =^= You bypassed the Electro=plasma modulator to be able to overpower the deflector array and you incorrectly calibrated the Positronic grid relays at the pulse guides?=^= Alimi nodded, "Exactly. There wasn't any other way to get enough power to the smaller unit to cover the ship otherwise." he replied. =^= This ship should have blown sky-high=^= the man on the other end replied. =^= There's no way that should have worked!=^= "That's not important. The fact is it did and now we need you to undo all the jury-rigging I did." The man sighed it transmitted perfectly over the commchannel. =^= okay, I think I got it figured out. I'll call you if I have any more questions.=^= "Please do, Morrow out." The channel had just closed when the Bolian woman reached his office door. She was wearing the traditional gold of Engineering or Operations and he was very much hoping that she was indeed the new transfer he'd been told to expect. "Excuse me, Sir." She said to Alimi. "I've just transferred to the ship. My name is Mitena Rixx." She stepped forward to offer him her PADD. ~Thank god.~ Alimi thought as he took the offered PADD. "Welcome aboard ensign." he said with a smile, " have you gotten settled in yet?" He was reviewing her records as he spoke. (reply Rixx) "Well it's a start. I see you have plenty of experience with Nova class vessels." He said with a smile. "That's a good thing, because this ship is currently one-third Nova and two-thirds Rosenante class at the moment. "I'd like to assign you to Alpha shift, that's 0800 to 1700 hours daily. Since it looks like you haven't had leave yet, I'll make sure you get some leave time in before we leave the Station. You're authorized to leave ship anytime during off-duty hours if you'd like. Is there any reason that you can't start in the morning?" (reply Rixx) "You'll probably want to take a good look at the repair logs, we've got a sizable job ahead of us and there are a lot of patch jobs that will need to be undone." (reply Rixx) "Any questions?" He asked in closing. (reply Rixx) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - CEO's Office - ACEO - Ensign (jg) Mitena Rixx - Day 1 - 1807) Mitena was pleased to see the Lieutenant smile as she handed off her PADD to him. The Chief engineer of the Milenum never seemed to smile and sometimes had even appeared annoyed that she was. "Welcome aboard Ensign. Have you gotten settled in yet?" "I'm getting there, Sir. I haven't gotten to my quarters yet." "Well it's a start. I see you have plenty of experience with Nova class vessels. That's a good thing, because this ship is currently one-third Nova and two-thirds Rosenante class at the moment." She wondered how he could classify the ship as being one third Nova then she remembered what the ship had looked like when she saw it docking with Geneva Station. "I'd like to assign you to Alpha shift, that's 0800 to 1700 hours daily. Since it looks like you haven't had leave yet, I'll make sure you get some leave time in before we leave the Station. You're authorized to leave ship anytime during off-duty hours if you'd like. Is there any reason that you can't start in the morning?" He said looking up at her from the PADD. "No reason at all why I couldn't, Sir. In fact, I'm quite looking forward to getting started." She said. "You'll probably want to take a good look at the repair logs, we've got a sizable job ahead of us and there are a lot of patch jobs that will need to be undone." Mitena nodded in agreement. "Any questions?" He asked. "Only a couple at the moment, Sir. Do we have a prioritization list on the repairs already, or does one need to be put together?" (reply Morrow) "Also, Sir. um., " She wasn't really sure how to say what she meant without seeming to be rude. "What do I call you? Other then Lieutenant, of course." She wondered if she was supposed to already know the answer to the question, but concluded that it was still better to ask. (reply Morrow) She smiled at his response. "I also would like to say that I'm very pleased to have been assigned to the Rosenante." (reply Morrow) (posted by Ruby) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - CEO's Office - CEO - Lt. Alimi Morrow - Day 1, 1809) "Only a couple at the moment, Sir. Do we have a prioritization list on the repairs already, or does one need to be put together?" She asked him. "I have a starter list, but it's shifting a lot at present, as the Engineering teams from Geneva prioritize their supplies and manpower. I wouldn't mind it if you'd be willing to take it over though." "Also, Sir. um...What do I call you? Other then Lieutenant, of course." Alimi smiled, then chuckled. "I am very sorry. My name is Alimi, Morrow. It really is a pleasure to meet you. My apologies, I've been so busy I'm mixed up three ways to Sunday." She smiled at his response. "I also would like to say that I'm very pleased to have been assigned to the Rosenante." She added. "I can assure you, that we're all glad to have you here. I hope you find it as welcoming as your last duty station." (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Personal Quarters – ATAC Ensign (jg) V’Shera – 1902) Wearing a light fabricated cotton lounge suit, V’Shera sat at the computer console on her living room writing desk. V’Shera’s off white outfit was a casual at-home style. It was garb that was to be worn in private, with one’s family or an intimate, but not in public. V’Shera sat in the hot, high gravity quiet of her personal quarters. As it would be night time in Plamt Tar, her home city, V’Shera had dimmed the lights in her private environ to simulate a sultry Vulcan spring twilight. A faint breeze blew lightly across her face, elegant long arms, bare chocolate shoulders and lower limbs. After her hot, sweaty 2.7 hour work out, the subsequent cold Terran shower had felt tactilely enervating. ~If only there had been someone there to be enervated with me, ~V’Shera thought wistfully to herself. ~Where had that aberrant emotional thought come from?~ V’Shera wondered in a jolt of surprise. Mildly shocked by her undisciplined thoughts, no, undisciplined emotions, V’Shera turned her mind turned back to the current task at hand. Not having coordinated with Ensign Haverstaad, V’Shera decided to be proactive about the mutual task Lt. Raschen had given to his departure. Via the computer, V’Shera called up the entire ATAC roster for the Rose. Expertly using the computer, V’Shera had quickly factored all their department personnel around the KISS directive as ordered. Within 20.4 minutes, she had devised a three month duty rotation schedule for all the department personnel, herself included. It would be a rotation schedule that met Lt. Raschen’s KISS guidelines, kept all ATAC posts adequately manned, while leaving plenty of R & R time for the rest of the department. V’Shera reviewed the draft of her proposed rotation schedule one last time. Satisfied with its stipulations and recommendations, V’Shera next instructed the computer to file it to her PADD, label the content as a Tentative Schedule to be reviewed and edited by herself and Ensign Haverstaad later. She also up copies of the file to be forwarded to Caption Salid, Lt. Sullivan and Lt. Raschen. She also sent a copy to Ensign Haverstaad. Having done that, V’Shera retired to her meditations and then sleep.
