"I beg your pardon Sir, I was under the assumption that everything I had said had been recorded since I came on board your ship and I simply did not wish to repeat something that I thought unnecessary. I hope you will forgive me I did not mean to be rude. I am now First Officer of the USS Rosenante, but, previous to that, it might help you to know, that I was the ship's Chief Medical Officer. The CMO is our equivalent of your High Priest of Medicine and as such I am used to speaking bluntly and frankly. However in the interests of co-operation I will again name my officers." Norves nodded. ~That is a novel idea~ he thought. ~A high priest of medicine acting as a command officer. Perhaps that way they can get more accomplished.~ She started from right to left as they had either sat down or stood behind her. "This is Lt Raschen our Chief of Security, Lt Tom Jackson our Chief of Operations, Lt Nayati our Third Officer, Ensign Lopez our ACMO and another High Priest of Medicine on our ship and Combat Nurse E'Mpak one of our nurses and a highly valued member of our Medical Team. I hope these introductions meet with your approval High Priest Norves" Norves bowed his head with a slight nod, then replied. "Thank you Priest Caskie we welcome your knowledge and expertise. " I will admit to you that we have been keenly interested in watching how the hunter's have been progressing since they joined your alliance. And I admit that we could also benefit from such cooperation. However, we are aware that the hunters do not approve of us and would rather kill us on sight than work with us, so that does not give us much hope in a viable alliance." Josh nodded. "That would end if you agreed to join us. We already have the Hunter's word on that. They are as eager to escape this prison as we are and have agreed that it will take a combined effort to do so. They will work with you without prejudice as long as you do not reclaim any of their dead for your own." "It is true that we reclaim the organic remains of other species to propagate our own. I do not deny their claim. However, there is no life in them when this is done and we only seek to reuse that which the universe has so readily provided. Certainly you understand that to allow such rich post-organic materials to decay would be a waste if they can be changed and reanimated and life restored." "Certainly these bodies would do you no good in a post animate state. They would require disposal or would take up valuable storage space." Josh nodded. "Whilst this is indeed true High Priest, most species we have met have religious rituals for disposing of their dead. Whilst this may seem silly to you, it is, none the less, of a deeply spiritual nature to everyone, including ourselves. Your people have consistently refused every other race here the spiritual necessity of allowing their dead to be buried or mourned. This must stop for at least the time that we work together as allies to escape here." Norves looked to the Priests on either side of him and the provost. "As for speaking to the remains of the crew that we reclaimed from the Bastion, that is impossible unless you possess the ability to speak with the dead. They have not yet been reclaimed. " he said coolly. "We have only had success with Sullivan. We were unable to reclaim the others because we needed to conduct repairs to the reclamation Chamber." He paused again, this time turning his gaze to the Provost. "But with Sullivan we will allow you to speak with her." he commanded and watched as Qamda stepped aside to have the new Kobali summoned. The high priest turned back to Caskie, "Her new name is Saviya. I must tell you commander, that you can cause her irrevocable mental injury if you press her too hard for information. Young Kobali are prone to Psychosis and other mental illnesses when exposed to their past at an early stage after reclamation." Josh nodded. "I promise you High Priest that I will do nothing to endanger her welfare. However I do wish to ascertain whether she wishes to return to the Rose." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Central meeting room - High Priest Norves- Day 6 - 1200.5) It did not take long for Saviya to arrive in tow behind Hasiyl. Now they would put his work truly to the test. To see how resilient it really was. Once the reclamant had entered the room , Norves watched with interest as Caskie moved towards her. He like all the other priests in the room were watching intently for any signs of the kyn'steya. He listened carefully as the conversation unfolded between the two prior shipmates. "Hello, my name is Josh. I knew you in a previous existence and I have to ask you if you remember me at all?" The commander inquired. "I'm sorry, Josh, but I have no recollection of you." Saviya replied honestly. "I see, however, I must tell you that you were previously a valued member of our crew and if you wish I will happily take you back with us." the woman offered. "You say that I was a valued member of your crew, but I don't remember you. I don't even recall what services I performed for your vessel. I have found certain skill sets have survived the process but even if I wished to return, I am told that the process is irreversible." she said. Norves nodded. ~Even if I wished to... she had replied, there was no desire to return then, Hasiyl had done his job well.~ he thought. "I understand and I thank you for your patience. I do however have one final thing to say before you leave. Norman is fine. I am taking care of him, but he misses you. I thought you should know." Caskie replied. "Thank you for your concern, I'm sure he will be well taken care of." she said, in a neutral tone, " Norman would not recognize me, it is logical that someone with your compassion would take care of him now." ~There it was a complete confirmation that she remembered no one or nothing of her previous life.~ Norves thought smugly, her transformation was complete, and so rapid. As well. That's when Norves noticed Hasiyl, staring that the Human commander oddly. Perhaps he was trying to contain some deep hatred of her for questioning his right to have been made a member of the priesthood. Norves smiled, he couldn't really blame him that small bit of information. Caskie, apparently satisfied that any attempt to recover her prior shipmate, turned to him then. She seemed to be slightly deflated at her failure to illicit any noteworthy response. "Thank you for allowing me to meet with T'Larah, I appreciate you giving me this time. However I need you now to decide whether you care to join us or not. If you wish to discuss any part of the Alliance with any member of our crew that I have brought with me then please feel free to do so. They are all at your disposal. Feel free to question any one of us." Norves smiled. "Of course Commander Caskie. I am sorry that you were not successful in your search for your prior shipmate," he lied diplomatically. "My first question is to your Operations Officer, Jackson." He turned his attention to the man standing before him. He looked like a man who had seen much, but like an iceberg only showed the barest tip, concealing the rest of his personal experiences deep beneath the surface. "Jackson, as Operations officer, you must know what the replication capabilities of your vessel are. We have need to replicate complex medical drugs and protein enzymes. Additionally we will require technical replication to replace damaged components for our ship. Is this something that your vessel can fulfill in her current state?" (reply Jackson) Norves nodded. "And security." he continued, "We are for the most part a peaceful species, although we have found that we have been engaged in conflicts in the past. I would need to know that your ship and crew would be willing to defend us from aggression, even if that should mean against another member of our alliance. Is this something that you can do and how would this be accomplished?" (reply Raschen, Caskie) "In return for your agreement to replicate the things that we require and to aid us in the repair of our vessel to full operational capacity, I will offer you limited access to our medical knowledge and my promise that we will not reclaim any more of your crew while we remain within your alliance. We will also aid in the plans to escape this place." (reply Caskie) "Very well, I will discuss the finer points of this agreement with my fellow Priests and the Provost, we will have an answer for you before the end of this waking cycle." Norves looked at Hasiyl and Saviya. "Hasiyl, Saviya. Your presence here is no longer required. Thank you for the speed with which you came to these chambers today." Hasiyl nodded. "Thank you High priest Norves for the opportunity to serve your summons." (reply Sullivan, Jackson, Raschen, Caskie, Any) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Central meeting room - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 6 - 1201) Tom Jackson had not said a word since his arrival on the Cial. He had been watching the conversation between Josh and High Priest Norvus closely. Tom felt the high priest was a man to watch. Tom brought his guard up when the high priest spoke his name. Is this something that your vessel can fulfill in her current state?" Jackson looked a the High Priest closely. Thinking fro a few moments , he formed his reply. "Yes, High Priest I believe we can meet your requirements. We would need to work with your scientists and engineers to make sure you received the correct items if acceptable" Tom added. (reply: High Priest Caskie or Norvus) Lt Raschen was the next one under the spotlight. Raschen looked weak to him but he kept his thoughts to himself. His mind began to run over the things he thought the two ships would need in the beginning stages of their joint efforts. (reply: any/ none) (posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Central meeting room - CSec- LT (jg) Chance Raschen -1205.5) After hearing Jackson’s reply, High Priest Norves nodded. "And security." Norves continued, "We are for the most part a peaceful species, although we have found that we have been engaged in conflicts in the past. I would need to know that your ship and crew would be willing to defend us from aggression, even if that should mean against another member of our alliance. Is this something that you can do and how would this be accomplished?" Raschen looked at Caskie; then before saying anything, he stood straighter, almost poised, and allowed a dangerous gleam show in his eyes before facing the High Priest and answering “Sir, my security forces have taken an oath. Part of that oath is to obey the orders of the officers appointed over them. It is my job to defend, not only my shipmates, but our allies against all enemies both inside and outside of the Alliance that my commanding officers are working so hard for. As for the ‘How’; well sir, my grandfather was a bounty hunter and he used to tell me ‘if you’re gonna be afraid of the answer; don’t ask scary questions’.” Raschen finished as he lightened up a little. (Reply any iyw) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Central Meeting Room - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie -1207) Josh had allowed High Priest Novres to question both Jackson and Raschen and had listened to both of their replies. Deciding to step in, not because she was unhappy with either of their replies, but because she could see where the High Priest's questions were taking them and it was down a road that she personally was not happy with, she stepped forward again. "Excuse me High Priest, These drugs and enzymes that you mention. Would they have to do with reclamation. If so then I will tell you here and now that the answer is no. We and everyone else in the Alliance will help you repair your ship so that you may escape from here. What we will not do is help you in your reclamation process and you need to promise us that you will refrain from processing any member of the alliance dead during this time or beam any of their dead aboard your ship. This is non negotiable." "Very well, I will discuss the finer points of this agreement with my fellow Priests and the Provost, we will have an answer for you before the end of this waking cycle." Josh nodded. "Thank you for your time High Priest. I hope that we can come to an equitable alliance, no matter how temporary. It has been an honour to meet all of you and we look forward to hearing from you regarding the alliance as soon as possible. Turning to Provost Quamda Josh bowed to him and lead her delegation out of the room. (No reply needed) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Personal Quarters - Priest of Medicine Hasiyl- Day 6 - 1250) Hasiyl and Saviya had been dismissed when the federation officers had left the ship. It was at Hasiyl's insistence that they wait for a half-hour before he and Saviya meet again and move forward with their plans to escape. The Kobali Priest of Medicine made his way circuitously through the ship's corridors to his destination- Saviya's quarters. In his robes he had concealed the drugs, data and devices that they would need to escape. He only hoped that they would be able to carry off the theft of the shuttlecraft and that their request for asylum would be approved by the federation captain. He nodded at a pair of Kobali, a man and a woman that had been walking down the corridor towards him as he reached Saviya's quarters. Once they were well past and out of sight, the Priest reached out and pressed the door chime. [Ding] (reply Saviya) "It is time." he replied simply. The door opened up almost immediately and Saviya/Sullivan stepped into the corridor. He could detect a difference in her countenance as if the knowledge of their plan had somehow brought a sense of clarity to her face and thoughts. ~It must be her Vulcan side.~ he thought, then wondered at how he knew what her species had been called when he had not known before that very moment. ~no you had known.~ he reminded himself, ~you had simply forgotten.~ He knew that he was well into the throws of Kyn'steya now, and that if anyone found out before the escaped this ship that he would be subjected to a neural reprogramming. He had seen it done, it was a very unpleasant thing to witness, let alone experience. He was determined that he would not allow that to happen to him. He motioned down the corridor. "The Shuttle bay is located at the aft of the ship, " he explained, on Deck 9. It is not accessible via Jefferies tubes, because I do not have maintenance codes for them." He once again wondered where the term 'Jefferies Tube'' had come from. He shook his head it didn't matter. "There is likely to be a single security guard at the entry to the bay and some personnel as well. My codes will get us into the bay, but we'll have to figure out a way to get the outer doors open. I don't think my security codes will work there." (reply Saviya) Hasiyl nodded. The directed her towards a turbolift. They stepped inside the lift and Hasiyl closed the doors. He then used his bracelet to transmit his security override to the lift so that they could continue on their way. "Deck 9" he ordered afterwards, and the lift moved quickly to their destination. In the Lift Hasiyl fished the phased weapon and the communications device from his robes and handed them to Saviya. "Here," he said, "But please remember I do not wish to kill anyone if we can avoid it." (reply Sullivan) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ( Cial - Personal Quarters - Kobali Reclaimant - Saviya (T'Larah) - 1251) [Ding] "Yes?" =^= It is time.=^= That was all the notification she needed. Having previously made all the preparations to be able to move on a moment's notice, she did so. The door parted auto-maticly at her approach. She stepped into the corridor. The man before her seemed like a different person then the one that had led her into life as a Kobali. Hasiyl pointed down the corridor aft-ward. "The Shuttle bay is located at the aft of the ship, " he explained, "on Deck 9. It is not accessible via Jefferies tubes, because I do not have maintenance codes for them." "There must be another path or two there though, just because our most preferable path, though maintenance ducts, is not access able does not mean the mission is still not attainable. What is there likely to be when we get there?" she replied in a low tone. "There is likely to be a single security guard at the entry to the bay and some personnel as well. My codes will get us into the bay, but we'll have to figure out a way to get the outer doors open. I don't think my security codes will work there." he explained. "I am confident we will find a way." she said. Hasiyl nodded, and pointed their way towards the turbolift. He passes his bracelet over the lift's access sensor, activating it with his codes. "Deck 9" he commanded, and the lift silently proceeded as instructed. As the lift moved Hasiyl procured the Star Fleet directed energy weapon and communicator. He handed them to her. "Here," he said, "But please remember I do not wish to kill anyone if we can avoid it." T'Larah looked at the phaser's setting. She noticed it was set to 90% maximum. "Well it's a good thing that I remember how to change the setting on it." she said while changing it to the highest stun setting. She conceiled the weapon in her jacket and took the communicator and attached it to her inner tunic, on the left side of her torso. ~Seems that's where it belongs.~ --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Bridge - Provost Qamda- Day 6 - 1252) With the federation delegation now returned to their own vessel, Qamda was once again the commander of his own domain. His attitude in general was not a pleasant one, however. He was still bristling under the yoke of insults that the High priests had heaped upon him when the Federation delegation had been present. They had, of course made it seem as if they were in command of the ship, and that he was nothing more than a figurehead. They even went so far as to order him to summon Saviya. Oh, he had bristled at their insults but for the sake of putting up a unified front, he had maintained his calm and had complied with their wishes for the moment. He had returned to the bridge of his ship in a foul mood, and his command staff realized it soon enough. It wasn't like him to glower or to snap at them for the slightest mistake. So they realized quite quickly that he was upset and left him to his business. Which was... To wait and see what would happen next. The Council of fools had told the federation that they'd think about joining. They'd asked for another day to consider things. All of this despite the fact that Qamda had told them of the benefits and risks well before the arrival of the federation delegates. He had warned them of their particular religious beliefs. He had told them that the Federation crew would require them to not reclaim any more of their dead. He had also explained to them how important it was to agree to their terms. The ban on reclamation would be temporary- and unless there was a significant sudden catastrophic failure of some critical ship system or a deadly attack by one of the others here, there would be no true detriment to their way of life. In fact the aid of the federation ship would be instrumental in preventing such a catastrophic failure- simply by helping them repair things. The Kobali as a whole were good at gaining opportunity from death- it was in their very nature. And when you could do that well, everything else was a simple matter of perseverance. (reply None) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Deck 9- Support Level - Priest of Medicine Hasiyl- Day 6 - 1255) When the doors to the lift opened, Hasiyl was the first to step out. He stepped forward from the alcove that housed the lift and glanced quickly down the corridor in either direction. Satisfied that there was no one present he motioned to Saviya and headed towards the aft of the ship. The trip was blissfully short and the corridors happily were unoccupied by anyone with the exception of the two soon-to-be refugees. Hasiyl called a stop at the corned and glanced around it quickly before turning to Saviya. "Ahead and to the left the third access portal." he began. "That's the shuttle bay. It looks like there are two security guards there now. Perhaps we should postpone our efforts until one of them leaves?" (reply Sullivan) "But how will you disable both of them? They are armed and alert." he asked. (reply Sullivan) "I will follow you then," Hasiyl stated calmly despite the fact that he was feeling the affects of adrenol flushing through his body, preparing him to fight or flee. (reply Sullivan) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- ( Cial - Deck 9 - Support Level - Kobali Reclaimant - Saviya (T'Larah) - 1256) Hasiyl was first through the doors of the lift when they opened, Saviya waited for the go ahead from him before proceeding. Hasiyl glanced both ways before motioning for them to proceed aft-ward. A short few hundred yard walk and they reached a corner at which Hasiyl called a halt and he checked around the corner. ~We must be near the shuttle bay.~ "Ahead and to the left the third access portal." he began. "That's the shuttle bay. It looks like there are two security guards there now. Perhaps we should postpone our efforts until one of them leaves?" he cautioned. "No, if now is the time, then we must act." she said in a low tone but still with steely determination. "But how will you disable both of them? They are armed and alert." he asked. She thought for a moment, " Set the sedative in the hypospray to take out one of the guards, if you can time their unconciousness, make it for well after we are gone, if not then a large dose but not enough to permanently harm him." (Reply Hasiyl) He handed her the injector at the proper dosage. She made sure the phaser was tucked away, out of sight. "I will follow you then," Hasiyl said calmly even though his non-verbal cues told other wise. She motioned him to stay back. "You will be easily recognised and that is not conducive to my ruse." she said in whisper. (Reply Hasiyl) She approached the two guards with a concerned look on her face. She looked in many different directions as if trying to acertain where she was. "Can I help you?" one of the guards asked. "I'm terribly lost, can you help me find my way to the arboretum?" she asked. "It's that way." the other guard said unimpressed with her perfomance. "Well, I'm affraid that is how I got into this boggle in the first place." she stated matter of factly, " somebody gave me directions this way, and I'm afraid my parent species learns best from visual directions, rather then oral. Can you show me using the computer monitor?" she asked. The first guard eagerly jumped at the chance to help out the second just rolled his eyes. "Right over here." he said and went to the nearest wall monitor. He began to explain where they were and T'Larah just nodded as if listening but the second guard was still not buying it. He loomed one step behind watching her every move. ~ I have to figure a way for him to drop his guard for a moment. ~ The first guard had finished, " See there it is." he concluded. pointing to where the arboredum was on the map now three levels distant. "I'm sorry," she said, " can you show me again?" she asked meekly. The second aproached clearly annoyed and rolled his eyes a second time, when the first looked back to the map to figure a better way to explain the directions more simply, T'Larah struck with the hypo spray at the second guard, while he was un-aware. The hypo hissed softly as it delivered it's payload. The guard crumpled like a sack of tubers. "Oh my something is wrong." she said in quiet alarm, the other guard turned around, to help his comrade. As he knelt down T'Larah put her hand on his right shoulder, and gave a pinch to a very specific nerve cluster, the first guard followed his friend into a forcefull slumber. T'Larah motioned for Hasiyl to follow. "Well what do you think?" she asked indicating her accomplishment. (Reply Hasiyl) "Muscle memory, I just knew that was the most efficient way to take out the guard, now you need to open the way to the shuttle bay. We must work quickly and with out alerting the bridge." she said. (Reply Hasiyl) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Deck 9 - Support Level - Priest of Medicine - Hasiyl - Day 6- 1300) "But how will you disable both of them? They are armed and alert." he asked. She thought for a moment, " Set the sedative in the hypo spray to take out one of the guards, if you can time their unconsciousness, make it for well after we are gone, if not then a large dose but not enough to permanently harm him." Hasiyl did as he was bid, after all he had no real idea what else he could do. "There you go." he said as he handed her the injector at the proper dosage. She made sure the phaser was tucked away, out of sight. "I will follow you then," Hasiyl said calmly even though his non-verbal cues told other wise. She motioned him to stay back. "You will be easily recognized and that is not conducive to my ruse." she said in whisper. He nodded again. "Then I'll wait." he replied and watched. Once Saviya had disabled the guards, she had wave to him and Hasiyl moved forward with a sense of awe. He looked at the two crumpled guards and then back to the woman standing there. "Well what do you think?" she asked indicating her accomplishment. "How did you..?" He asked her. "Muscle memory, I just knew that was the most efficient way to take out the guard, now you need to open the way to the shuttle bay. We must work quickly and with out alerting the bridge." she said. Hasiyl nodded although he had never encountered such an amazing maneuver in all his existence. At least he didn't think he had. He moved over to the door to the shuttle bay and immediately entered his security codes. The doors hissed open with a sense of purpose and Hasiyl put up his hand to stop Saviya from moving into the compartment. He made a show of removing his communications bracelet. "You'll want to take that off." he said, gesturing to hers. "They'll be able to track us." With that he tossed his bracelet over to the pile of crumpled security guards. He didn't wait to see what Saviya would do, instead he turned his attentions towards the large compartment of the shuttle bay. There was a shuttle framed in it's yellow security markings on the floor of the compartment. A pair of technicians were buzzing around the floor but neither of them seemed to notice them, they were occupied with repairing some component from a second shuttle. Hasiyl gestured for Saviya to follow him across the floor and to the intact shuttle. The landing ramp was deployed making it easier for them to board the shuttle. ~No need for security codes then.~ Hasiyl thought as he tentatively stepped into the shuttle. There was a technician running a scan of some sort. He immediately noticed the high priest and looked up from his work. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "I've come to speak to you about one of your companions." Hasiyl replied on the fly, making it up as he went along. "I've seen reports that indicate he may be suffering from Kyn'steya." That got the man's attention, he immediately stood up his face rapt with attention on the Priest. "Of course, how can I help?" Hasiyl reached out one hand to place it on the man's shoulder. "You can tell me if I look crazy to you." Hasiyl replied. There was a moment of confusion on the man's face and then Hasiyl applied as much pressure as his hands could muster against the man's shoulder. "Owwww...." the man remarked as he pulled out of the priest's grip. Hasiyl blinked at the technician, Saviya had made it look so easy, certainly he thought he could reproduce it. Apparently it was more difficult than he had thought. Before the rest of his thought could be completed, he was roughly shoved aside by the now angry man. He slipped backwards against the bulkhead, but did not fall. The suddenly the man went limp and collapsed. Saviya was standing there, guiding him downward towards the deck. "You make that look so easy." Hasiyl stated half in explanation and half in apology. (reply Saviya) "Put him outside, and see what you can do to get those doors open." He jabbed a forefinger at the main hanger doors. "I'll prep the shuttle." While Saviya, obviously the stronger between them moved the technician from the shuttle, Hasiyl moved to the cockpit. He couldn't remember ever flying a shuttle craft, but his hands seemed to have a mind of their own. He activated the power relays, brought up the flight controls and waited for Saviya to return to the shuttle. All they needed was a way to open the doors and they were home free. (reply Sullivan) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Cial - Deck 9 - Shuttle Bay - Kobali Reclaimant - Saviya (T'Larah) - 1307) Hasiyl made a show of removing his communications bracelet. "You'll want to take that off." he said, gesturing to hers. "They'll be able to track us." As he entered the shuttle bay, Saviya took her bracelet off and almost threw it in the pile with Hasiyl's. ~Wait these devices are run off of bio-thermal energy. If I leave them both, soon the computer will probably register the signal loss and security will come looking for us, and be alerted to the situation in the shuttle bay. Lets try and keep them in the dark a little while longer.~ she mused. She took both bracelets and put them, one on each of the guard's opposite wrist. This T'Larah hoped would ensure that the devices continued to signal the ship's computer, thus purchasing them more time. She quickly caught up just in time to see Hasiyl motioning her to follow. He lead her to one intact shuttle, passing by two technicians too engrossed in their work to notice the pair passing by. As soon as they attempted to board the shuttle a technician monitoring a scanning device immediately noticed their attempted grand theft shuttle. There was a moment of confusion on the man's face and then Hasiyl attempted the same nerve pinch that T'Larah had just performed with as much pressure as his hands could muster against the man's shoulder, and failed. "Owwww...." the man remarked as he pulled out of the priest's grip. A split moment and the technician open palm shoved Hasiyl against the bulkhead, rattling him a bit but not injuring him. T'Larah stepped in and performed the nerve pinch flawlessly, and then eased the technician to the ground to avoid injuring him further. "You make that look so easy." Hasiyl stated half in explanation and half in apology. "It seems perhaps that Kyn'steya has taken it's own hold on me. I'm remembering extensive training in combat arts, training in tactics and star ship procedures. I think I was a security officer. If I could remember the reason why that worked, I would tell you. However, I do remember that only one sentient not a member of my species has performed the same technique, so don't feel bad." Saviya explained. "Where should we put him?" she inquired. "Put him outside, and see what you can do to get those doors open." He jabbed a forefinger at the main hanger doors. "I'll prep the shuttle." Saviya nodded and got to work, she hefted the light framed technician over both shoulders in a rescue carry allowing her dense bones to carry the weight. Luckily, for safety reasons she supposed, the doors allowed individuals to leave the shuttle bay with out a pass code. She placed the Kobali in the corridor just next to the others, and allowed the door to close. She went to the control panel that she thought must be the one for the bay doors. Any access she attempted was denied. ~I should have taken the technician's bracelet!" she thought at the last moment. ~ I will have to find another way.~ She thought that if she couldn't get the doors opened by the computer, then perhaps they she could apply power some other way to get them open. Hot swapping the power from another conduit was too time consuming to do safely. One miss wiring and she could pour millions of mega-joules into her body frying it like some ancient Klingon dish. ~The phaser!~ she thought and went over to the panel on the bulk head, removing the panel and revealing the data chips and processor responsible for the bay doors and the back up force field. She examined the unit very carefully, and disabled the power to the door it self, ensuring not only that it would not electrocute her, but also that when they attempted to leave, if they were noticed the door could not be closed by the bridge, it would have to be closed only by reconnecting the power. She disconnected the power to ship and connected it to the phaser that she had brought with her. She knew that a single discharge from the weapon at the current setting could not lift the door even a half meter. Though at a higher setting and timed to go off in half second intervals. Should be able to slowly open the doors giving them enough chance to escape. She quickly set the phaser to the proper settings and pressed the firing stud. The type II Federation issue phaser began to pour raw energy into the power conduit. Turning a motor was not the intended purpose of the hand phaser, but it was performing the task well. She double timed into the shuttle and closed the ramp behind her. "It should be opening in about seventy three seconds." she told him. (Reply Hasiyl) "I rigged the hand phaser to issue power to the bay door motor in bursts, opening the door but not frying the motor and not burning out the emitter crystal. They also will not be able to close the door until they send someone down here. If they don't realize what I've done and incorrectly assume it is a bomb, we have more time as they go through unexploded ordinance procedures. They will try to defuse a bomb that isn't there." she explained. (Reply Hasiyl) "I understand. I believe that even though these systems aren't familiar, I can handle the helm, or sensors, weapons and damage control. Which ever you feel is more prudent." she responded. (Reply Hasiyl) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante FO's Office - Hasiyl & FO Caskie - Day 6 - 1435) Hasiyl looked up at the woman that he had requested a meeting with. She was every bit as lovely as he remembered, although admittedly he remembered far less than he would have liked. She looked older than his remembrance of her did, but he supposed that was to be expected. Time did not stop simply because he had died. She had survived him and had aged with the passing of the years, yet still in her eyes and the line of her jaw, he saw the elements of her younger self, so much the woman that he remembered. "Commander Caskie" he began, but somehow that form of address seemed so improper. "I don't know how to tell you what I need to tell you, so I'll come right out and say it." Josh had agree to this meeting with Hasiyl not entirely sure what it was about although she thought it might have to do with his staying aboard the Rose and applying for refugee status within the Federation. She understood that he could not go back to the Kobali since he had explained exactly how they treated members who began to experience memories of their previous life. Not something Josh would wish on her worst enemy to be honest. So, as she listened to his somewhat halted comments she smiled at him and nodded. "I think it might be best if you just come straight out and say it Priest Hasiyl." "I don't remember much about my prior life. I don't remember my name, or where I am from. I can not tell you what species I was originally. But I remember a few things, strange things." He paused, took a deep breath before continuing. "I remember you." he said. "I don't know how, or why now after all this time, but I knew you the moment I saw you in the central meeting room aboard the Cial. I remembered your name and I remembered that I love you more than anything." Josh had just picked up her cup of tea when the import of Hasiyl's words reached her and the cup slipped out of fingers suddenly gone numb and crashed onto her desk, the china shattering and spilling it's contents everywhere. For one whole minute the entire universe stopped spinning as Josh looked at the person sitting across from her. She sat in her chair not moving, eyes suddenly on her desk, simply watching the shards of the china rock finally to a halt and the remains of her tea pool and then slowly, drip by drip, drop on to the carpet at her feet. She was taken aback by what Hasiyl had said, not because it was a surprise, but more because as soon as she knew about the Epiphany and then the Kobali and their reclamation process, she had wondered if this day would ever come. As each day passed she had forced it further and further into the back of her mind hoping that it would never happen and as each day had passed it looked less and less likely. When Anna Morgan had told her how Donald had died she had not mentioned the Kobali and Josh had assumed that he had escaped that fate. Now, suddenly, here this day was and Josh found herself suddenly speechless. "This is difficult I know." He said regarding the remains of the shattered cup. "I know that I look nothing like I once did. But what I remember is a day on a beach with a picnic and a gold ring. There was a feeling of sheer happiness in that memory, a moment of completeness and bliss. I remember asking you to be my wife." Josh sat there stunned as the day he mentioned played itself back in her head. It had been an overcast November day with the waves crashing further and further up the beach and a storm warning posted for later. Josh had brought Donald to Orkney to meet her family a few days before and he had proved popular with them. Wanting him to herself for a few hours she had packed a picnic and taken him to her favourite beach and as they had sat there he had asked her to marry him. Happier than she had ever been in her entire life Josh had agreed. Looking over at him now Josh knew, without a shred of doubt, that this indeed was Donald. What she felt about it she didn't know quite yet and to be honest she wasn't sure she really wanted to think about this at present, especially not with this stranger/husband in the same room. Taking a deep breath she brought her eyes up to meet his. Your name is Donald Caskie and you are a human and a member of Starfleet. You were a doctor aboard the USS Epiphany and I was informed that you had died about fifteen years ago. Hasiyl nodded. "It is true I died many years ago, but I could never forget you, My love for you transcended death. I just wanted you to know why I have come here." His reply cut Josh to the quick. She had mourned Donald for years, but that period of her life was over and done with now and she really wasn't sure that she wanted to take it up again. She was a different person from the one she had been then and she wasn't sure that she wanted to go back to that time. Taking a deep breath she looked him straight in the eye. "This is a complication that I did not foresee, however for the sake of T'Larah, and regardless of any decision that you and I come to, I need to ask you if you are still willing to voluntarily help her try to recover." Hasiyl nodded. "Of course, I will help with Saviya's recovery. I will do everything within my power to restore her. I made her that promise, although I don't yet know if I can promise success yet." ~And perhaps when I have restored her, I can restore myself and we can once again be together.~ He thought. Josh nodded at his agreement to still help T'Larah. "If it would help you I can have Donald's, I mean your, Starfleet biographic details sent to the computer in your quarters so that you can find out who you were. However I'm not entirely sure I want to continue this conversation at present. There is a great deal that I need to think about and I would prefer to do so in private. I'm sure you can understand that." Hasiyl looked the formidable woman in the eyes. "Yes, of course I understand. This is difficult for me also, but I would welcome the records and any personal images or holovids that you may have of me as I was before. Perhaps I can learn more about myself from such things that I might not learn from an official record?" The last was a half-question, half-statement. He smiled weakly at her, the tenseness of the moment beginning to weigh on him now that the Adrenol from their flight was beginning to wear off. "I did not mean to cause you pain, Jennifer." he explained. "I merely thought you deserved to know the truth. I value that so much now, since it became apparent that my entire second life was... a falsehood of a fleeting nature. I wanted only to tell you the truth because I could not bring myself to lie to you." "I hope to speak with you more on this later. For now, I must confer with your Chief Priest, so that we can begin to make preparations to restore Sullivan." he added more for her benefit than hers. He completely understood that she needed a moment to think and did not wish to pressure her. Something deep in the back of his memory reminded him that she was a stubborn type who had to come to her own decisions about things. Josh nodded and stood up ensuring that Hasiyl understood that the interview was over. "The security guards will escort you back to Sickbay. I'll contact you later, thank you for your patience." Watching as he left, Josh picked up the shards of the broken cup and disposed of them. Picking up the second cup that Hasiyl had used she looked at it for a moment before launching it at the nearest wall, watching stone faced as the stain began to spread. Sitting down at her desk she put her head in her hands and closed her eyes. The only thing Raschen could think of being on Deck 10 was Sickbay. And then it hit him ~maybe they came for that friend of Josh’s in Sickbay~. The mission had been one of a few moments of fire fights and then dullness. Glancing up at the chronometer for the billionth time, Elvis sighed. ~would 0600 ever get there?~ he wondered. His musings were interrupted by the arrival of Lt Raschen in the squad bay. Chance shouted "“We have intruders, possibly hostile, on Deck 10. The only place of value down there is Sickbay; I want that entire deck sealed off and guards posted at all the Sickbay entrances.” Elvis replied "Aye Aye Sir" and ran to his locker and grabbed his gear. He followed one of the Petty Officer's and headed to a hallway junction near Sick Bay. Yet again Fowler wondered if he should have considered another specialty. Security had never been dull since he joined the Rose. (reply: any in Squad Bay) (posted by: Bill W.) ===================================================================== (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 15- 1628) Ahmed was sitting in the ready room, across from Caskie, a place where he had spent a great deal of his time as of late. He was looking over the latest reports from the engineering department. They had finally cut out the original Navigational deflector dish from the Rosenante and along with Hur'q workers, Nechani and Sky Spirit Engineers they were waiting on the transfer of the Epiphany's dish. At present estimates, it would still be four days before the installation was finished. Ahmed smiled. He had pushed his engineering crew to their limits and beyond, but they had worked diligently adapting as the situation warranted. It had been taxing on them, on every member of the crew working toward the goal of escape, but they had all come through it well. No doubt the Rosenante would need significant time at a starbase for repair when they escaped from this blasted device, but that was a worry for another day. He had sitting on his desk a series of blue prints and technical schematics produced by a joint effort by the Hunter's, the Sky Spirits and his own engineering team. It was a bold plan, one that would either reward them beyond measure or that would lead to a quick and immediate end of a completely different kind. The designs called for the modification of the Spiral Geometry drive. The device that normally opened the conduit for the drive more specifically. The plan was daring and incredibly forward thinking. It was times like this that he was glad that he had been an engineer before his ascension to the center chair. he had looked over the plans and modifications. they were simple enough, although the hunter's expertise in energy fields would plan a critical role. Here was how it worked: The Spiral drive would be modified to produce a conduit of phased energy. The result would be that the section of the vessel's hull would be made permeable to all matter within the normal phase of their space. The allies would then fly their ship through the out-of-phase portion of the Harvester's hull and into the freedom of Space beyond. The Rosenante would then follow, using her Main Deflector as she normally would to stabilize the portal long enough to pass through to freedom. This plan, of them all was the most likely to work. This plan, more than any of the others also had the greatest cost for failure. The Rosenante's systems were not designed to handle the power strain that they'd be under. They were not designed to be used in a manner that they were going to be used. He looked up at his first officer. "I don't see that we have a better plan, and I can't find any reason that this won't work." He finally said breaking the silence of the last few minutes. (reply Caskie) There was a chirp as a commchannel opened in the ready Room. =^= Wyler to Captain Salid and Commander Caskie=^= He gave Jennifer a questioning glance. Ahmed tapped his commbadge. "Salid here." (reply Caskie) =^= Sirs, I have been told by Hasiyl that he has finished the serum and the reversion chamber that will be used to Restore Sullivan to her former self. "Has Mister Sullivan been advised of all the risks?" =^= Yes captain.=^= Ahmed knew that Jennifer had been involved in reviewing the data as much as Wyler had been. Finally the Captain looked over at her. "I don't see that we have a better plan, and I can't find any reason that this won't work." Josh took a sip of her tea before replying. "Lord knows, you're the engineer not me. But if you are happy and Alimi is happy..." She shook her head, not meaning to be negative, just that this kind of engineering was way beyond her ... "and even the Bzz'ts say that it is our best hope, so what other choice do we have but to go for it." There was a chirp as a comm channel opened in the ready Room. =^= Wyler to Captain Salid and Commander Caskie=^= Ahmed tapped his commbadge. "Salid here." Tapping her own badge Josh contacted the doctor. "I'm with the Captain at present Dr Wyler, how can we help you?" =^= Sirs, I have been told by Hasiyl that he has finished the serum and the reversion chamber that will be used to Restore Sullivan to her former self. "Commander Caskie, what is your assessment of the test results?" Josh thought for a moment, both Hasiyl and Dr Wyler had kept her apprised of the entire process and she had spent a great deal of her off duty time going over and over the data that she had been sent. To be honest Kobali medicine was just as much above her head as modifying the Spiral Drive was and Josh was pretty sure that Dr Wyler felt much the same. However Josh felt frustrated at not understanding it. Fair enough she wasn't an engineer so much of the modifications she really didn't understand and simply took both the CEO's and the Captain's word that it would work. However, a doctor she was and it frustrated her no end to only manage tantalising glimpses of what Hasiyl had tried to teach both her and Wyler. "To be honest sir I have only managed to understand a small amount of what Hasiyl has tried to show us. He is fairly certain that this procedure will work given how short a time T'Larah has been Kobali. However I would suggest that at least from a medical point of view, as long as T'Larah understands the risks and accepts them then we do not have the right to refuse her this treatment." I'll contact the CEO immediately and give him the go ahead on the Spiral Drive modifications and will notify you of anything I hear from Sickbay, although I am pretty sure that Dr Wyler will keep you in the loop anyway." (No reply needed) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - CMO Lt. Aleesa Wyler & Priest Hasiyl Day 15- 1640) Aleesa tapped her commbadge to close the channel and turned her attention to the assembled medical personnel. "Okay, everyone," she said in an authoritative voice as she exited her office, "Let's get situated. I want to be ready to go as soon as Sullivan makes her decision." Immediately the sickbay was a flurry of activity as the nursing staff set to making the final preparations that Hasiyl had been training them for since he and Saviya had arrived on the ship nine days ago. The CMO spotted the two Kobali standing near one of her imaging displays, reviewing the cellular scans of the cultured tissue that had been harvested from Sullivan a few days prior. She could tell already that the process was looking very promising. The DNA was being rewritten even as she watched and the cellular structures were reorganizing themselves to resemble those of Sullivan's mixed Human- Vulcan heritage. "How does it look?" she asked the priest. "Very good." he replied, "The cellular reconstruction matrix is stable and matches the cellular genotypes that belonged to T'Larah before her Kobali reclamation." "Good," Aleesa replied with a nod, " And the stability of the restructured cells?" "They seem to be stable, " Hasiyl replied, "I haven't seen any indications of cellular migration or mutagenic disposition. The Triomere gradients are good and the telomere lengths are not truncated as I had initially feared, which means that Saviya should enjoy a normal length life span once the Restoration is complete." "About that." Alee began "Yes?" Hasiyl said as he turned to face the CMO. He noted Sullivan also look up from her study of the cellular dispersion patterns to regard the Federation Doctor. "I've advised the captain and the First officer that we were ready to attempt the reversion as you'd indicated." "And?" Hasiyl asked. "And the Captain and First officer both agree that it's Sullivan's decision on whether we move forward with the reversion at this stage. I don't think there is a single person on this ship that understands your process Hasiyl except you. We can't say for certain what will happen, or what the experience will be like. And that means morally we can't make the decision for you Lieutenant." Aleesa said shifting her attention and words to Sullivan. "No one can decide what we do now except for you." (reply Sullivan) Hasiyl turned to the Kobali woman standing beside him. "I want to speak frankly with you Saviya." He said, choosing her Kobali name for it's meaning and significance. (reply Sullivan) Hasiyl nodded. "No Kobali Priest has ever tried a reversion like this. All reclamations are conducted on post-animate materials, and so we have never seen the affects of the chamber's energies on a living subject nor a conscious one. There is a chance that this process could kill you, or worse it could turn you into an abomination. It may be excruciatingly painful or it may not. Once the process begins we will not be able to deviate from it, I want you to understand that." (reply Sullivan) "Then what is your decision?" (reply Sullivan) Hasiyl nodded. "You were aptly named Saviya. We will begin the transformation preparations at once then." (Reply Sullivan) Hasiyl turned back to the Chief Medical Officer of the Federation ship. "Your brain specialist will be needed. I will need someone to monitor Saviya's cerebral tissue transfer and hormonal fluids transformation. I'll need your Head Nurse and the Klingon as well. Her strength may be necessary should Sullivan attempt to escape the restraints. I have seen how strong she is and so the Klingon would be a good choice as well." Aleesa nodded. Resting a hand on Dr Wyler's shoulder she simply nodded. "Priest Hasiyl, Chief Nurse Fisher reporting. How may I help you?" "I will need someone to handle the retroviral and drug booster protocols. You have scored well in those areas and I will need you to assist, with the introduction of those protocols to Saviya." (reply Fisher) "How may I help?" Lopez then interjected. Hasiyl turned to face Doctor Lopez, "Doctor Lopez, I will need you to monitor Saviya's neural pathway progress. It is imperative that we retain her electroneural impulses at or above 30,000 markers per millisecond. if they fall below that, we'll find ourselves with a mentally damaged patient." "Additionally you'll need to monitor the enzyme and electrolyte balances in the cerebral tissue as the retroviruses do their work." (reply Lopez) Finally he looked over at the Klingon. "Saviya is strong, and I am certain that I can not sedate her during the process. There is likely to be pain and we must therefore use manual restraints in the acceleration chamber. That means that you will be responsible to keep her from harming herself or others." (reply E'Mpak) With everyone in place and ready, Hasiyl turned to Saviya. "It is time." he said simply. The Kobali woman stripped out of her clothes so that there would be no interference in the process when the biogenic acceleration field was activated. Even the slightest interference could cause permanent cellular damage and that simply wasn't an option. He motioned for her to take her place in the modified biobed. And once she had settled Hasiyl used the restraints to secure her into the couch. "Nurse Fisher, please insert the enzyme IVs followed by the retroviral injectors." Hasiyl ordered, knowing that the doses had already been premeasured. (reply Fisher) He himself, picked up three air hypos and in succession emptied their contents into Saviya's veins. He watched as the are around the skin changed hue slightly as the copper silicate based mineral supplements discolored her skin. He turned to look at Lopez. "We're ready for you to set up the monitors doctor." Hasiyl said, "Let me know when you've finished, then reset the baseline readings to null." (reply Lopez) While Lopez and Fisher were doing their portion of the job, Hasiyl steeped to one side of the Chamber and ran one final diagnostic on the system. He was not surprised to see that it came back without a problem. ~These people...my people are very efficient.~ he thought to himself even as he began to power up the particle collimators The premise was simple in theory and much more complex in practice. Basically, the chamber would direct a particular form of biogenic energy into the body of the subject. Once the cells of the subject had been irradiated enough to make them pliable but not in danger of rupture, they would inject a special chemical that would activate the retroviral infusion that had already been started. Those retroviruses would then carry out their programming, tearing down then rebuilding the cellular structures of the patient, fundamentally restoring Saviya's DNA code to it's original state. It would probably be excruciatingly painful, but once started it could not be stopped incomplete. If that were to happen or if the power were to fluctuate outside the scope of the tolerances Saviya would die a terrible agonizing death. Hasiyl had gone over the theorems repeatedly, checked and double checked his notes and his drugs. His equations were correct, they had to be- they were his only chance at.... Hasiyl sighed. "Okay," he finally stated, "let's get started." "i will do my best, sir"Sam said. the priest spoke to the others before speaking back to Sam. He turned to look at Lopez. "We're ready for you to set up the monitors doctor." Hasiyl said, "Let me know when you've finished, then reset the baseline readings to null." "it will be done, sir"Sam said as he went to set up the monitors. As Sam finished the set up the order was given. "Okay," he finally stated, "let's get started." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - Head Nurse - Ensign (jg) Kitty Fisher - Day 15 - 1646) Hasiyl looked up from what he was doing. "I will need someone to handle the retroviral and drug booster protocols. You have scored well in those areas and I will need you to assist, with the introduction of those protocols to Saviya." Kitty merely nodded and moving over to the controls for the biobed regarded Hasiyl from under her lashes. She had been curious about him, although she had tried not to show it. It was an open secret who exactly he was and what his previous relationship to the FO had been. Open in that you could not keep that kind of secret from escaping into the general ship population no matter how hard you tried, but still secret in as much that no-one had even dared speculate about it openly. The senior staff would have quickly shut down any speculation they heard and most of the crew knew better than to discuss it with Kitty since she would have had their head on a platter at the first mention of it. As for Josh, she had acted mostly as if it didn't exist although Kitty could see a tightening around her mouth and a faraway look in her eyes sometimes when she didn't think she was being observed. But even Kitty, probably one of the few people that Josh might have discussed this with, was loath to bring the subject up. She knew Josh too well and knew that when she was ready she would talk. Any attempt on Kitty's part to open the subject would simply get Kitty a flea in her ear and a lecture on minding her own business. So Kitty had kept quiet, but kept wondering exactly how this whole thing would end. She was brought back from her thoughts by Hasiyl giving her an order. "Nurse Fisher, please insert the enzyme IVs followed by the retroviral injectors." Since the dosages had already been premeasured by Hasiyl himself Kitty simply followed his order and set each of them to release their contents into Lt Sullivan's system in sequence as and when ordered. "Done sir." "Okay," he finally stated, "let's get started." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - Priest Hasiyl - Day 15- 1900) Hasiyl, cut the power and the agony that Saviya had been dealing with for the last several hours was finally over. Her body slackened as the energy left her. ~Perfect.~ he thought excitedly, as his eyes ran over her naked body looking for any visible aberrations. Seeing none, he smiled. "Doctor Lopez, please conduct a detailed neural analysis and cerebral mapping." Hasiyl ordered. (reply Lopez) "Nurse Fisher, please conduct a cellular scan and see to it that Miss Sullivan is treated against shock or toxicities. Also make certain that she is hydrated and moved to a recovery room. She should be monitored closely every half hour for the next 24 hours. After than she should be okay to be released." (reply Fisher) "Please notify me at once if you find anything that may be questionable concerning her Vulcan/human species and/or her normal body metabolism. Use the records of her normal federation medical charts as a guideline." (reply Fisher) Hasiyl stepped back away from the biobed, where Sullivan was laying, still breathing hard from her ordeal. ~It had worked and she would survive.~ Hasiyl thought with a smile. (reply Sullivan, Lopez, Fisher, Any) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - ACMO Ensign (jg) Sam Lopez - Day 15- 1901) After long hours it was done and done right. "Doctor Lopez, please conduct a detailed neural analysis and cerebral mapping." Hasiyl ordered. "it will be done, sir."said Sam as he rushed to the console and started the work. (reply by any in sickbay) (posted by shawn) (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - Head Nurse - Ensign (jg) Kitty Fisher - Day 15 - 1905) Almost two and a half hours later Hasiyl finally cut the power and declared the procedure over. Kitty was exhausted and sweating. Not because she had been exerting herself but simply because the entire process had been so exhausting mentally. "Nurse Fisher, please conduct a cellular scan and see to it that Miss Sullivan is treated against shock or toxicities. Also make certain that she is hydrated and moved to a recovery room. She should be monitored closely every half hour for the next 24 hours. After than she should be okay to be released." Kitty nodded and smiling looked down at Sullivan. "Aye Sir." Kitty immediately programmed the biobed to run the cellular scan and inject Sullivan with medication to stave of any shock and toxic effects. Finally programming the biobed to monitor her hydrations levels and adjust them as needed she opened the door and motioned to the two med techs waiting outside. "You can move Lt Sullivan to a recover room now. Recovery Room 1 I think since it is the nearest to the main sickbay. She needs to be monitored every half hour for the next 24 hours and I want an update sent to both Dr Wyler and myself every half hour on the half hour, starting at 1930 and continuing until either Dr Wyler or I tell you to stop. If there are any, and I mean any problems, no matter how small contact us both please asap and Priest Hasiyl too. I'll be in my quarters if you need me." Dragging her heels feeling physically and mentally worn out Kitty stopped at the nurse's station and accessing the computer sent a message to the Captain and to Josh that the procedure was over and the prognosis for Sullivan was looking good. Finally heading out of Sickbay Kitty noticed that the lights were still on in the CMO's Office. Tapping at the door and entering she saw the CMO still sitting at her desk and smiled to herself. "Just thought you'd like to know Sir. Everything went well and we have transferred Lt Sullivan to Recovery Room 1. Sickbay will give us an update every half hour and knows to call us if needed. You should go get some rest." The smile on his face was broad and indicative of his mood. Alimi had really outdone himself this time around. The man had a skill for adaptive thinking and structural engineering. The marks on the deck and bulkheads where the alliance engineering teams had reconnected the Epiphanies deflector control systems and assembly to the Rosenante's space frame were reminiscent of a scar left by a skilled surgeon forced to work under less than ideal conditions. A transplant of sorts had taken place, and it looked good. He resumed the center command seat. "It looks as if we're ready to power up the replacement array commander." He said to Jennifer, whom it seemed was just as anxious to be out of this place as he was. This was just the beginning of their plans, but it was the largest and most difficult aspect of them all. With a successful power-up they were more than half-way through their plan and well on their way to working. He took a deep breath and allowed a great deal of stress to drain from his body as he exhaled. "Mister Smith, activate internal containment fields around Deflector control, level 10." (Reply Smith) "Mister Jackson." he said clearly (reply Jackson) "Let's power up the new navigational deflector, slowly. Use a point-oh-three power gradient until we reach full power. Let me know when we reach 100 % power." Ahmed ordered. (reply Jackson) NRPG: There shouldn't be any serious trouble. When Tom advised that the system had achieved full power, there was a collective exhalation of relief among the bridge crew. The repair was a solid one and like the patient worked on by the surgeon, the Rosenante would survive this ordeal. "You can drop the containment fields Mister Smith." (reply Smith) "Tom, I'd like the deflector assembly power consumption and systems checked and monitored every three hours for the next 72 hours. " (reply Jackson) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 20 - 1301) Tom marveled at the work Lt Morrow and the Engineers had done with the deflector salvage from the Epiphany. Tom and his OPS staff had a wonderful chance to work hand in hand with the Engineers. Jackson had always enjoyed building things. Yet Tom was realistic enough to know he was not smart enough to be an engineer full-time. Jackson jumped slightly the captain called to him. "Aye Aye Sir" Jackson responded. The captain went on to order " "Let's power up the new navigational deflector, slowly. Use a point-oh-three power gradient until we reach full power. Let me know when we reach 100 % power." "Understood Captain" Tom replied. He keyed in the commads and watched his graphs and readouts closely. THe power levels climbed - readings were jsut outside the norms he was used to seeingf but within in limits. After what seemed like an enternity, Tom relaxed and reported with a clear sense of relief "100% power - with in limits Sir". (reply: CO/FO) Smiles all around appeared on the faces of his friends. Captain Salid went on to order "Tom, I'd like the deflector assembly power consumption and systems checked and monitored every three hours for the next 72 hours. She pressed it between her forefinger and thumb answering as she did. "I hope this is good Reynolds." She stated flatly. =^= It's Hasiyl, you need to come to sickbay immediately.=^= There was an urgency in his voice that immediately snapped her awake. "I'm on my way." she replied and was out of bed at once rushing to grab a uniform and get dressed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay- CMO- Aleesa Wyler - Day 30- 0120) Aleesa careened around the corner and into sickbay, still carrying her shoes in her left hand as he was in too much of a hurry to put them on and had decided to run to sickbay and not waste any more valuable time. Nurse Carter immediately gave her a glance and motioned towards the back of the department. The woman looked pale, as if she were about to be ill. Not stopping to ask any details, Aleesa turned and headed in the indicated direction which happened to be back towards the Restoration chamber that just a few days ago, had served to restore Sullivan. Aleesa had seen a lot of death and disgust in her day, but what she saw when she rounded the corner into the restoration room was almost enough to make her feel like a first year med student looking at her first cadaver. Hasiyl, if that was who it was lay in the biobed. His body distorted and twisted. His genetic code seemed scrambled somehow, as if he were part human and part Kobali. A strange orange red ichors, which she recognized as blood of the two species intermingled dripped from open boils that had appeared and ruptured. Doctor Reynolds was standing there, he had apparently covered the naked priest with a medical blanket. "What the hell..?" Aleesa started. Reynolds shook his head. "He said he was going to look at some of the test results that the chamber had stored locally and that he would be doing some additional cellular studies." the doctor explained. "We didn't see any reason to bother him until the screaming started. By that time it was too late and before I could stop Nurse Carter, she cut the power to the device." Reynolds swallowed, " She wasn't working on the project before, she thought it was going to help, shutting off the power, but..." "...It stopped the process." Aleesa concluded. Reynolds nodded. "He's still alive, but there's nothing we can do for him. His genetic code is scrambled worse than a 12 egg omelet." At that point Hasiyl opened his eyes. They were two different colors and they carried the burden of pain. "Jenn.." he began, before breaking into a coughing spasm- spitting up a congealed orange- red ocher. "...ifer" he concluded. Aleesa immediately understood. He wanted to talk to the first officer. "Everybody out." She said, suddenly aware of the sensitivity of the moment. She tapped her commbadge as everyone shuffled out of the door. "Wyler to Commander Caskie. I need you to report to sickbay Immediately. There's been an accident, please hurry." (reply Caskie) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Personal Quarters - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 30 - 0123) Josh had gone back to not sleeping well as soon as she had found out about Donald/Hasiyl. She had managed to keep it quiet so far, but was wondering how long it would be before someone noticed, or indeed how long it would be before she herself would have to say something. She had been tossing and turning for a while now when her comm badge chirped. "Wyler to Commander Caskie. I need you to report to sickbay immediately. There's been an accident, please hurry." Josh was out of her bed in an instant. There were very few things that Sickbay would wake her up for at this time in the morning and Josh knew that if the CMO were present too then it was extremely serious. Not waiting to dress, Josh grabbed her dressing gown and stuck her feet into her slippers and hurried out the door. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 30 - 0125) As soon as she entered Sickbay Nurse Carter was already waiting for her. "You're needed in the Reclamation Booth Sir." Josh's heart plummeted right down into her stomach as she realised what the nurse had said to her. She ran across Sickbay and entered the room without knocking. What she saw their almost caused her to lose her last meal, but being a doctor above all she swallowed it down and entered the room. Glancing around the room she realised what had happened. To be honest, it did not come as much of a surprise to Josh. Putting a hand on Dr Wyler's shoulder she smiled sadly at her. "Thank you Alee. If you do not mind I will take it from here." Watching Alee leave the room Josh sat herself down beside the body on the bed and picking up his hand smiled at him. (No reply needed) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - FO- Caskie & Priest Hasiyl - Day 30 - 0130) Hasiyl was still somehow conscious. His body was gone, he knew and any moment his organs would fail and he'd expire. Yet somehow, he wasn't in pain. The nerves had failed, and for the first time in his life, he knew that he was going to die and that it would finally be final. There was only one thing left to do and that was to complete the one task that he hadn't fulfilled all those years ago. Josh sat down and took his hand in hers. She had already checked the monitors to see what they said, but, to be honest, one look at his ravaged body told her all than she needed to know. "Why? This wasn't necessary." He looked up at her as she spoke to him. His eyes trembled with the effort and he knew that it hurt her to see him this way. "Jenni--fer." he managed. "I'm sor-ry. I..." his voice failed him. Josh laid a hand on his chest to stop him speaking but he continued. "No, let me.. Finish" He argued. "I thought that if I... Was Donald again, that we could..." He coughed up a massive clot of blood. Once the coughing fit ended, he forced himself to continue. "be together again, but now I realize how...." He forced a breath, "...foolish that was. I always loved you... And I want you to make me a prom.." Another cough. "don't let... Reclaim..." Josh wiped the blood away from his lips and sat down again. Determined not to let him see her cry she tried to smile and bent over trying to catch his words although they were so faint as to be almost impossible to hear. Knowing that the end was near Josh smiled at him. "You were always, Donald darling and I have always loved you, every single day of my life since I met you. That will never change." The room was growing darker. He forced his eyes open wider as he tried to force air into his damaged lungs. "I love you Jennifer, never forget...that..." With that, Hasiyl, once Donald Caskie, let out his last breath and passed finally into the oblivion that he had been denied at the end of his first life. Josh watched as Donald took his final breath. As the monitor began to beep a warning Josh reached up and turned it off. She sat there for a while simply holding Donald's hand as it began finally to grow cold. Eventually she stood up and bending over she kissed him one final time and closed his eyes. Finally turning and leaving the bay she encountered Dr Wyler who had obviously decided to wait. Shaking her head she took Wyler by the arm. "He's gone. I know you have to do an autopsy and I wish more than anything that I could do it, but I know that I can't. Would you please do me the favour of doing it yourself please Alee. After that have him put in a stasis chamber if you would since I want to take him home. He was leading a mixed alliance engineering team, each wearing their own unique EV suits, following in turn the B'zz'tz that they had come to know as the second Subprime. It seemed that each of the B'zz'tz had a unique specialization. The First Subprime's was seemingly sentient life, while this one seemed to be a specialist in the machinations of the Harvester. =^= It is here =^= Alimi's suit translated the energy pulses that the B'zz'tz emitted- now that communication had been established. Alimi looked around the room. It was a massive cavernous chamber, lined with massive machines and even larger computer banks. =^= Where exactly?=^= N'che, the lead Hunter's engineer asked. =^= Here =^= the B'zz'tz replied and then illuminated a massive mechanical component with a bright reddish spot-light like glow. =^= So we destroy this computer and the transporter and tractor beams are disabled?=^= the Hur'q Engineer K'niktalza asked, the translator making her voice sound very flat and disinterested. =^= We can't just destroy the computer.=^= Alawanda replied. =^= If we do, we may damage something else. That could cause a chain reaction and cause something critical to fail. It could destroy us and we wouldn't even know it was coming.=^= "I agree" Alimi replied through his suit communications suite. "We should map out the critical components and identify their functions. Then when we have a good idea how it works, we'll disable it safely." =^= That will take much too long.=^= The Hur'q engineer replied, =^=we can not waste time studying. We just need to disable them, why is this so difficult?=^= "It won't make any difference if we damage something and cause the ship to activate some sort of self defense system or worse yet suffer from some sort of critical system failure which results in a power cell breach. if we die, it doesn't matter how long we should have taken." Alimi answered. All of the engineers nodded their agreement except for the Hur'q, who eventually folded under the peer pressure. =^= Very well,=^= she said, =^= but can we at least do this as quickly as possible?=^= "Certainly." Alimi replied. "We should all get started now." As the engineers scattered to start their scans and mapping, Alimi took a deep breath and cleansed his anxiety. Every ship in the Alliance had been repaired, stocked and prepared for the coming departure from the Harvester. The mission to disable the Harvester's transporters and tractor beams was believed to be a complete success and the B'zz'tz were hovering around a lot more as the various groups worked in such perfect unity to finalize the last of the details. Now the report that he was holding in his hand indicated that the final modifications to the ship's Spiral warp drive were finally finished after over a month trapped inside the Harvester. ~And about time too.~ Ahmed thought as he glanced up to look out at the still familiar remains of the bone yard. With the Harvester's transporter systems now disabled, there would be no new additions to this miniature hell. "Mister Caskie" Ahmed said loud enough to allow the majority of his bridge crew to easily here his words. (reply Caskie) "Let's get prepared to leave this place, shall we?" he stated. "Notify all the members of the alliance that the modifications are now complete. We will be departing at 0800 hours in the morning. See to it all ship's systems are fully functional, have all loose cargo secured and have all personnel go through the ship and secure anything that requires it. remember that the IDF's will be operating at reduced efficiency during the operation." Tom, Ensign Smith and Chief Sheridan all nodded in agreement. Tom thought for a moment. "OK, let's go deck by deck, working with the areas on each deck to secure everything securable" Tom ordered. He saw the chief and Smith shoot each other glances. "OK guys, I know this is a pain but necessary. How would you like to divide this up?" He asked the other two. (reply Sheridan or Ensign Smith) Sheridan thought for a moment and spoke. "I'll check the cargo bays and transporter areas and then join you and the ensign OK boss?" he asked Tom. "Sounds Good Chief. "Ensign Smith and I will start with Sick Bay, the mess facilities and we can all meet there and go from there" Tom decided. Smiling impishly Tom added " hen we get out of this and hit a star base, you two are my quests for a major blow-out OK?". Phil Sheridan grinned and looking at the Ensign added "Done". "Aye Sir." "Let's get prepared to leave this place, shall we? Notify all the members of the alliance that the modifications are now complete. We will be departing at 0800 hours in the morning. "Mr Jackson please be so good as to hail all the members of the Alliance. (Reply Jackson iyw) As soon as he had given her the go ahead and all the leaders of the various ships had appeared on the screen in a split screen format Josh began to address them. "Ladies and Gentlemen I am happy to announce that the modifications to our spiral drive have finally been completed. We propose to depart here at 0800 hours tomorrow morning so I suggest you use the rest of the remaining time to ready your ships. We will open the portal and keep it open for as long as possible to allow everyone to escape. Once all of you have managed to do so we will attempt to escape ourselves. However I must warn you that the procedure is still extremely risky and I would suggest that not more than one ship attempt to escape at any given time. To this end First Hunter Dash has agreed that his ship will stand off the portal to one side and the Bzzt's have agreed to mirror him so that if anyone tries to, how shall I put it, hasten the process, they will stop them by any means necessary. Once all of you have managed traverse the portal the First Hunter will guide his ship through, closely followed, I hope by ourselves. After that we will all be free to go in our own direction and I would like simply to wish each of us luck and a speedy return to our own homes and families. Caskie out." As soon a Jackson nodded to say that the channel was closed she asked him to open a ship wide hail. Getting his nod she again began speaking. "This is the FO. The modifications to the spiral drive are now complete. Beginning at 0800 hour tomorrow the Alliance will attempt to escape from the Harvester. I need all crew to now begin to ready all systems and secure any loose cargo that might be lying around. Since they had found themselves captured by the Harvester, the Rosenante had achieved the near impossible. This was a testament to the dedication, skill and knowledge that his people had at their disposal. He looked around the bridge glad to see his senior staff standing by and ready for action as he had ordered. Jackson, Raschen, Janeway, Caskie, Smith, Nayati, Dralar- all looked at him expectation in their eyes as he nodded to them each in turn and moved to stand just before his position in front of his command chair. The doors to the turbolift slid open and Ahmed turned back to see who had stepped onto his bridge. There Lieutenant Sullivan, although dressed in civilian clothes and not released to return to duty stood followed by Lieutenant morrow. He smiled then a genuine smile that conveyed his deep pleasure at seeing her on the bridge once again. He understood that her memory wasn't restored nor that it was anything like it should be, yet there was a certain calmness to her demeanor that lent him strength. "Welcome back to the bridge Mister Sullivan." he said, preempting anything that she may wish to say about asking permission to be there. (reply Sullivan) "You may man Science Station I." Today was finally the day that they would escape from this waking nightmare and Josh knew that she was not the only one who was happy to see this day arrive. Just as she was about to greet the Captain the turbolift door opened and turning around Josh saw T'Larah standing there. Before she could say anything the Captain began speaking and greeting Sullivan warmly suggested she man Science Station 1. Josh simply sent a smile in Sullivan's direction and returned to monitoring the Bridge. Finally the Captain turned to greet Josh. "Good Morning FO. What's our status?" Josh smiled at him as he took a stance in front of his chair. "All departments have already reported everything stowed away. We already have a green for go across the board sir. (reply Raschen) "Mister Jackson, have all stations report in and begin charging the drive coils for the Spiral Drive." (reply Jackson) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CO Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 41 - 0755) "Okay, mister Jackson, Let's get this wagon train rolling. Decrease all ship wide power consumption by 70%. Maintain Life support at 60% and shut down all non-essential power usage, take the ship to emergency lighting." (reply Jackson) The lights on the bridge dimmed considerably, plunging the bridge into a deeply shadowed state. The faces of his crew seemed almost wicked as a result of the under glow lent them by the terminals and stations that remained powered. "Mister Smith, Decrease power to the IDF and SIF to 45%. Monitor all structural indexes and advise me at the first sign of trouble." (reply Smith) "Mister Morrow, Take the Primary warp coils off-line and shunt all available power from both cores directly to the Spiral drive and Main deflector." "Aye, sir." Morrow replied, " Main warp coils are now off-line all core power has been redirected to the navigational deflectors and the Spiral drive as ordered. All systems are holding and on stand-by" Ahmed nodded, " Mister Dralar, move us to the predetermined coordinates under RCS thrusters, Maintain slow maneuvering at this time." "Aye captain." The Skorr Helms man replied. His talons clicked on the terminals keys and the Rosenante lurched forward then gently accelerated as the RCS thrusters kicked in. With the decreased use of the SIF and the IDF fields, even the slightest maneuver was felt through the ship's deck plating. It was almost like being on a ship at sea, and instinctively Ahmed broadened his stance against the perception of future motion. "Approaching our coordinates captain, decelerating at 12% gradient." Ahmed nodded. The Rosenante slowed to s atop, just a few thousand meters from the inner surface of the Neutronium hull. "We have reached all stop Captain." The Skorr officer reported. "Station keeping Mister Dralar. Prepare to activate the Spiral drive emitters." "Aye sir." Ahmed turned to Caskie, "Any reservations commander?" he asked. (reply Caskie) Ahmed nodded. "very well then," he replied. "Mister Jackson, ship wide channel please." (reply Jackson) "Attention all hands, this is the captain speaking." Ahmed began. "As you are all aware, we are about to initiate the spiral drive in an attempt to create an interphase beam that will allow our allies and ourselves to pass through the Neutronium hull of this vessel." "There are a great many unknowns in this action, the first of which is that we do not truly know if it will work. Neutronium is known to be the most dense and incredibly strong material known to the Federation. There have been no tests to tell us if this plan of our will work." "I have the utmost confidence that despite this, we will be successful in our escape. We have been working diligently on this project now for nearly a month, and I have the expertise not only of my crew, but of the crews of our allies to count upon. The plan is scientifically sound and the modifications that we have made are also equally sound." "I have faith in you all to maintain the high level of performance that I have come to recognize and appreciate as your captain. All hands, stand by for initiation of the spiral drive. Captain out." Ahmed gave Jackson the close the channel gesture and once the gesture was closed, he gave a few more commands. "Mister Raschen, I want you to monitor the rest of the allied ships. I want detailed sensor data available to use in the event that something doesn't go as planned." (reply Raschen) "Mister Jackson open a channel to all the members of the alliance." (reply Jackson) Once all the members were on the main screen, split into an image for each of them, Ahmed spoke. "Leaders of the alliance. It is time to begin our Exodus from this place. My sensors indicate that the Ne'Q and the B'zz'tz are in position and are ready to enforce order, should it prove necessary." "The order of departure will be as follows: The Nechani, The Kobali, The Hur'q, The Sky Spirits, The Hunters and finally ourselves." "We will be initiating the phase variance field in 60 seconds. Good luck to you." Ahmed reached down and closed the channel. He took a deep breath and recited in a whisper just loud enough to be heard by those close ,"Allah protect and guide us always, may his countenance guide us always." He glanced up at the chronometer. 5.... 4.... 3.... 2.... 1.... "Initiate the Spiral Drive emitters and stabilize the fields with main deflector array." Almost immediately Dralar's taloned fingers tapped out the sequence that would activate the emitters. Lieutenant morrow, his counterpart, also tapped out a series of commands at his engineering station. A beam of brilliant blue silver light shot out from the main deflector salvaged from the Epiphany. The beam struck the energy emission from the spiral drive and the very fabric of the affected area seemed to become partially transparent. "Mister Raschen, class one probe." Ahmed ordered. (reply Raschen) The probe fired from the Rosenante's forward launcher and because of the proximity to the hull, Ahmed barely had time to wonder if it had impacted against the near impervious Neutronium hull of the harvester, before the probe disappeared beyond the semi-translucent hull of the device. He stood up and smiled. "Notify the allies, that we have succeeded in shifting the phase of the harvester's hull and that they should proceed with the plan" (reply Caskie) Ahmed watched on the main view screen as the Nechani ship, thrust forward, edging forward towards the phased area of the hull. With an anticlimactic lack of pyrotechnics or visual display, the leading edge of her hull simply disappeared into the hull of the Harvester, which seemed to consume the vessel readily. In a moment she was gone. Next the Kobali ship disappeared through the rippling field, followed by the massive Hur'q hive ship and followed immediately thereafter by the Sky Spirit vessel commanded by Chaska. When they were all through, Ahmed opened a channel to the Hunter vessel. "They are all clear of the vessel First hunter Dash. We will follow," he said. (reply Dash) He watched as the Hunter ship slipped into the energy field and disappeared. "Our turn." Ahmed ordered. "Mister Dralar, take us through best safe speed." "Aye captain." The Skorr helmsman once again tapped out a series of commands and the Rosenante replied with a slight jerk and the sense of acceleration. The energy field fluctuated and alarms began to sound at the back of the bridge at the engineering station... "Captain, we are experiencing power loss. The field is weakening." Morrow replied. Ahmed turned to look at the engineer, "Increase power to those systems, rob it from life support if you have to." he ordered. "Diverting power, There's not enough." Alimi replied. "Mister Dralar, set us on a drifting course through the rift." "Captain?" The Skorr questioned. "Do it now, mister Dralar." "Done captain," The Helmsman answered as he killed the thrusters. "Jackson, increase the Impulse reactors output by 20%, shunt that power to the spiral drive and the deflector." (reply Jackson) Ahmed tensed. He knew that a 20% increase over maximum operational safety was risky. Especially since the reactors had been repaired in the field instead of being properly replaced. "Mister Raschen, evacuate the Impulse reactor areas of all none essential crew. Notify sickbay to expect radiation cases." (reply Raschen) "Captain the reactors are reaching critical levels." Morrow replied. "ETA to threshold?" Ahmed asked instead or replying. "2 minutes captain." "They won't hold for two minutes Captain." Alimi replied. "They'll hold mister Morrow." Ahmed replied, "They'll have to hold." "But captain..." The engineer protested. "Monitor your boards mister Morrow, that's an order." Ahmed replied, he'd be damned if he'd lose this gamble. "Aye sir." Morrow replied through clenched teeth. "More power Mister Jackson!" Ahmed ordered as he was monitoring the reactor and field outputs from his command chair display. (reply Jackson) "Well find some, or we're not going to make it, do you understand me lieutenant?" Ahmed replied firmly but clearly. (reply Jackson) =^=Sickbay to bridge, We're receiving widespread reports of radiation alerts, captain.=^= "Evacuate the affected areas doctor then handle the casualties to the best of your ability. I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment. Bridge out." "ETA Mister Dralar?" "28 seconds." The helmsman reported from his useless station. Suddenly sparks shot out from the engineering console. Lieutenant morrow jerked backwards rapidly as he dodged the shower of sparks. The Security Station exploded and Lieutenant Janeway was thrown backwards against the second science station with a dull thud and a sickening crack. Ahmed looked to Caskie. He tapped his commbadge. "Doctor Lopez to the bridge for a medical emergency." (reply Lopez) "12 seconds." Dralar reported without being asked. ~We're going to make it.~ Ahmed thought. Then the leading edge of the Rosenante's hull passed into the field. There was a jerking as the field fluctuated with their passage. It was like trying to sail a ship through a stormy sea with out putting down your sail. The main viewer went black as the optical relays passed into the out of phase hull. The smell of smoke filled the bridge and someone grabbed an extinguisher. Then there was the bright vibrant tapestry of colors that comprised the Beltanis Stellar Nursery in all it's splendid glory. "We're through!" Dralar reported. "Cut back the Impulse reactors and disengage the spiral drive emitters." Ahmed immediately replied. He let out a long breath of air, completely drained. "Mister Caskie, bring all the ship's systems back to normal operation as their conditions permit. Stand us down from yellow alert." (reply Caskie, Jackson, Lopez, Raschen, Smith, Dash, Sullivan, All) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - aCOPS – Ensign Smith - Day 41 - 0758)   Robert looked around the bridge as the Captian gave out his orders for them to escape.   "Mister Smith,  Decrease power to the IDF and SIF to 45%. Monitor all structural indexes and advise me at the first sign of trouble."   ”Yes Sir.”   Robert leaned over his monitor and began to power down the IDF and SIF to 45%. He widened his stance in front of the console as he felt the deck begin to sway slightly.   "Approaching our coordinates captain, decelerating at 12% gradient."   ~Blimy we got there all ready~   "We have reached all stop Captain."   "Station keeping Mister Dralar. Prepare to activate the Spiral drive emitters."   Robert saw a slight fluctuation in the SIF. His fingers danced over the console as he got it under control.   "Mister Jackson, ship wide channel please."   (reply Jackson)   Robert turned and looked at the Captain.   "Attention all hands, this is the captain speaking." Please let this work~   He opened his eyes and glanced at the counter.   ~Here we go~   4.... 3.... 2.... 1....   "Initiate the Spiral Drive emitters and stabilize the fields with main deflector array."   "Mister Raschen, class one probe." Ahmed ordered.   (reply Raschen)   "Notify the allies, that we have succeeded in shifting the phase of the harvester's hull and that they should proceed with the plan"   ~Well we started~   Robert concentrated back to his console as it beeped at him.   ~Ow no you don’t~   He focused on the power fluctuation and chased to that it would remain about 45%   "Captain, we are experiencing power loss. The field is weakening." Morrow replied.   "Increase power to those systems, rob it from life support if you have to." he ordered.   "Diverting power, There's not enough." Alimi replied.   Robert watched as the power to the SIF dropped.   ~No NO~   He frantically took power from reserves and none critical systems.   "Mister Dralar, set us on a drifting course through the rift."   "Captain?" The Skorr questioned.   "Do it now, mister Dralar."   "Done captain,"   "Jackson,  increase the Impulse reactors output by 20%, shunt that power to the spiral drive and the deflector."   (reply Jackson)   ~Ow hell this is going to be close~   "Mister Raschen, evacuate the Impulse reactor areas of all none essential crew. Ahmed asked instead or replying.   "2 minutes captain."   "They won't hold for two minutes Captain." Alimi replied.   "They'll hold mister Morrow." Lieutenant Morrow who was work at the console was jerked backwards rapidly as he dodged the shower of sparks. Then the Security Station suddenly exploded throwing Lieutenant Janeway backwards against the second science station with a dull thud and a sickening crack.   ~Ow No~    He heard the Captain call sickbay and hopped that they would be here soon. The console peeped at him again. ~If I don't' sort this out we won't be getting any where soon~   As he worked he saw Dr Lopez enter the bridge and begin to asses Janeways injures.   ~At least he's going to sickbay~   "Mister Caskie, bring all the ship's systems back to normal operation as their conditions permit. Stand us down from yellow alert."   Robert stood by his console and took a deep breath.   ~We've made it. Ow that was close~   He pulled him self back and began to concentrate on what his console was telling him. There trip had blow a number or relays and power distribution taps. There was a lot had to be done before they were finished.   (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - sickbay - ACMO Ensign (jg) Sam Lopez- Day 41 - 0800) Sam was in the sickbay helping with the radiation patients when the call came for him.=/\= Doctor Lopez to the bridge for a medical emergency=/\= Sam tapped his commbadge" i`ll be right there" At this call he was out the door with med kit and tricorder ready. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 41 - 0800.5*) As the Rose coasted to a stop at the inner hull of the Harvester the Captain turned to her. "Any reservations Commander?" Josh looked at him for a second or two and then grinned wickedly. "Well...." she drawled. "There's this really nice restaurant on Geneva Base that we might want to make a large booking for." Shaking her head she smiled. "No, let's go home, why don't we." Sitting tense and forward in her seat Josh breathed a quiet sigh of relief when the probe disappeared. As soon as the Captain ordered her to contact their Allies Josh nodded to Ops. "Mr Jackson get the Allies on an open channel please." As soon as he nodded to her and they came on screen Josh began speaking to them. "Ok folks the window is open, but we are not going to be able to hold it open forever. I suggest you all get the heck out of here in the order you have been given. Caskie out." Watching as everyone left Josh breathed a sign of relief. Finally it was only the Rose and the Ne'q left and the Captain opened a channel to them. "They are all clear of the vessel First hunter Dash. We will follow." Josh watched the screen as the First Hunter nodded to the Captain. "We will go now Captain Salid. I simply wanted to quickly thank you for all you have done for us. None of us would have been able to escape from here had it not been for you and your crew. We are grateful and hopefully in the future our people may be more than temporary allies. Good luck and good hunting. Dash out." As the Captain finally ordered the Rose to proceed Josh knew that she was not the only one who held her breath. It was an extremely rocky ride and Josh used her sailing experience to keep her balance. It was tight and as bridge stations began to explode around them Josh began to wonder if they would make it. Lt Janeway again suffered injuries as his station exploded and as the Captain glanced at her and called ACMO Lopez to the bridge Josh hauled the emergency first aid pack from it's station and began treating Janeway. She had done all she could do to stabilise him as ACMO Lopez appeared beside her. Getting up and realising that the ship had stopped rocking up and down Josh looked at the screen and saw the Beltaris Nursery in all it glory framing the Hunter ship in the foreground. Immediately the Ne'q hailed them and First Hunter Dash appeared on the screen. "I am happy to see that you made it through. I thought it a good idea to wait until you arrived to make sure that no-one tried to hijack you on your way through. The Kobali and the Hur'q seemed to want to hang around, but decided to leave once we made it clear than we were securing the area for your entry. We will leave now. I wish you a safe journey home. Thank you again. Dash out."
