Fowler's adrenaline rush finally was wearing off. He was sitting next to Hugo Crantz. Hugo noticed his friend trembling a bit. He looked at Elvis for a few moments and asked him" You OK Elvis?" Elvis grinned nervously and responded "I'm just nervous Hugo". Elvis had been drenched in insect matter as he hit the bugs. HE desperately wanted a shower and a change of uniform. As the NCO we chatting amongst themselves, Elvis walked to Lt Nayati. Fowler stole a glance at the PO's and seeing they were not looking, spoke to the Lieutenant. "Sir, what is our next Move?" he asked. (reply: IYW Lt Nayati) "I'll be glad to take the point. He remembered videos of an old earth sci-of show called Star-Trek. In that programs the red shirts (security types) were always getting killed. He hoped that wasn't;t going to happen on the Rose. (reply: Jon or anyone present) Elvis waited for his next instructions. (reply: any ) (Posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 3 - Hur'q Drone - 1513) The drone's mission was to find areas of the ship to cause damage that would be first difficult to repair, and second cripple the ship to make either easy return for further supply runs or worst case to harvest the soft skins as a food source. The drone decided to just start taking out doors until he found something worth destroying. These soft skins had some perverted sense of privacy, how they could single themselves out with out their hive-mates was beyond him. He chose a door at random and motioned for his partners do the same. He began to clatter with his mandibles as the unit charged. A moment later and the resonator was ready. He depressed the firing stud, the doors tore through their moorings and into the room. When the noise cleared the only noise that the drone heard he couldn't identify but their was obviously something or someone in the room. (Reply Norman, any security on Deck 3) (posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 3 - Personal Quarters - House Pet - Norman - 1515) The feline was napping minding his own business, and wondering when his next meal was going to come. ~When is she getting back?~ He then heard the faintest of noises coming from the corridor outside the room. It sounded like a clicking or clacking. A noise he had definitely never heard here in his new home. As he rose to standing the hairs on his back stood up, all of his muscles were tensed. He sensed imminent danger, he jumped into the next room just in time as the door forcefully collapsed inward. With the sudden explosive opening of the door came a rush of air from the corridor. Norman smelt the alien pheromones and knew one thing. These things mean to do the inhabitants of Norman's home harm, and they are invaders. Norman let loose a low guttural growl. "Mrrrrrrrrr." One of the insectoids stepped foot in the door, headless of the feline's warning. Norman sprung into action leaping on face of the intruder, hissing menacingly with all four sets of claws bared. He landed back claws sinking into the soft joints at the creature's neck. Norman reared back and struck with both paws to the insect's ocular sensory organ. The creature screeched in pain, his head recoiling from the pain. Norman bounded off it's head and out the door landing in a crouch he, saw the three remaining assailants. His hair still on end he told the insects exactly what he thought of them. "HISSSSS!" The gray tabby broke into a dead sprint and rounded the corner. The insects gave chase, as Norman lead them right towards the Rosenante security patrol. (Reply Security Officers) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 –ATAC Ensign (jg) V'Shera 1527.5*) Prepped, readied and covertly armed V'Shera and her seven best Atac-Sec troops arrived just after Lt. Raschen and his subordinates. Both companies arrived just in time to hear Lt Commander Caskie get dressed down by Captain Salid. =/\= I'd like to know why you away team is still aboard the ship Commander when we are less than five minutes away from our meeting. =/\= Though not a trained counselor like Lt. Nayati, V'Shera's keen eyes noted subtle and seeming uncomfortable shifts in Lt. Commander Caskie's posture and fleeting facial expression,. ~Caskie's human, and she's publicly being 'called on the carpet'. She's not liking that at all, but she's trying to hide it. A typical human suppression reaction,~ V'Shera thought to herself. ~I don't envy her being in authority right now. V'Shera and company moved into a position where she could be seen by Lt. Raschen. As Mr. Raschen had been her immediate superior officer throughout the earlier afternoon's combat, it was logical to except that he would continue to be her superior officer until told otherwise. Captain Salid and Lt. Commander Caskie were exchanging strong words as V'Shera drew closer to Lt. Raschen. Caskie had said," We are awaiting a member of the away team, Sir." V'Shera noted that Caskie's missing member was her fellow Vulcan, T'Kron, While she was speculating on T'Kron aberrant lapse in compulsive Vulcan punctuality, Captain Saild spoke again. His mood did not seem to be good. =^=I will not accept that as an excuse commander. Have your team to the rendezvous on time. Even if that means you have to leave without members of the away team. I will handle disciplinary actions afterwards if necessary. This is a very critical point, and we can not mess this up.=^= ~Disciplinary actions,~ V'Shera thought. '~That did not bode good for either Mr. T'Kron or Lt. Commander Caskie.~ After a moment Lt Commander Caskie responded, "acknowledged, Sir. We're on our way now." Quickly 20 Caskie addressed all those under her command, and tried, unsuccessfully, to put on her best face. "You all heard the Captain, let's not keep our new friends waiting. Mr. Raschen, I suggest you beam over first with your team. When you give us the all clear the rest of us will join you. Let's go ladies and gentlemen." It then when V'Shera spoke up. "Lt. Raschen, I request that my tact-sec forces also be part of your beam over as well." (Reply Lt. Raschen, Lt. Commander Caskie, Any) "After all this killing, I would like to do something to assure us some peace", V'Shera concluded. (Reply any in transport) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS ROSENANTE - Deck 11 - CSEC - LT(jg) Chance Raschen - 1535.5) Raschen walk around the area of Deck 11 in the sections where he lead part of the fight to repel boarders. Chance had never seen anything like the creatures that attacked; at least not in real life. He had seen old, classic horror movies once with monster bugs like the ones that attacked the Rose. The ones in those movies seemed so cheezy; these were…different…efficient killing machines. Almost 35 percent losses were suffered by security forces between the decks where they were actively engaged in fighting. Raschen surveyed the area where he was and wanted to kick himself as soon as he realized the Starfleet dead were being beamed out along with the attackers. He recognized it as a pirate tactic. When he had been a Federation privateer, Chance had seen Orion pirates use it rather effectively. The idea being that you take with you anything that would leave some kind forensic evidence so investigators can’t figure out who attacked. Hostiles boarding a ship are there for two reasons; one, to create a big darn diversion; and two, to mark any cargo to be beamed out. When he realized what was happening, Raschen contacted on being on the ship that he knew beyond the shadow of a doubt could track down inventory, personnel, and above all (you guessed it) money. A Ferengi, that everyone affectionately referred to as ’Quick‘ because that is what his given name sounded like if he said it really fast. Anyway, Quick’s specialty was forensic accounting. This time Chance only needed him to find out what was missing from the Rose now in the cargo and personnel categories. =^=Caskie to Raschen, Weaver and T'Kron. Please assemble in Transporter Room 1 no later that 1620 for an away team briefing and mission to meet several other species who have been trapped here too. Mr. Raschen, given our present circumstances please organize whatever security you feel necessary under the circumstances.=^= Taking a moment to look at his bloody hands and uniform, Raschen tapped his badge “Roger that ma’am. We’ll be there with bells on, so to speak. V’Shera, I don’t want to take anymore chances with these ‘dingle-berries’ than we have to. That being said when you prep I want you and your team there to load up with any weapon you can conceal on your person. Understood?” (Reply Caskie iyw, V’Shera iyw) Then turning to the remains of the team with him “Alright everyone, you heard the boss lady. Go get cleaned up and make it happen; be at Transporter Room 1 in thirty mikes for brief and inspection. Now move out.” Then Chance to went to get cleaned up. (Reply Caskie iyw, V’Shera) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 11 – ATAC Ensign V'Shera – 1536.5) Tidying things up in her section, V'Shera heard Lt. Raschen's commbadge chirp unexpectedly. ~Logic may indicate that events on the Rose are about to get even more complicated than they've already been. Hopefully, what ever is about to occur will do us more good than harm.~ =^=Caskie to Raschen, Weaver and T'Kron. Please assemble in Transporter Room 1, no later that 1620 for an away team briefing and mission to meet several other species who have been trapped here too. Mr. Raschen, given our present circumstances please organize whatever security you feel necessary under the circumstances.=^= V'Shera watched Lt. Raschen do a quick evaluation of his overall appearance before he responded to Lt Commander Caskie's hail. Lt. Raschen tapped his badge. "Roger that ma'am. We'll be there with bells on, so to speak." He turned to V'Shera. "V'Shera, I don't want to take anymore chances with these 'dingle-berries' than we have to. That being said, when you prep, I want you and your team there to load up with any weapon you can conceal on your person. Understood?" "Perfectly, Sir," V'Shera replied immediately. "Warren, Johnson, help get this section secured. Harding and Fox, get our wounded to Sickbay. Everybody else, get prepped and ready for briefing and transport at 1620. Since we don't want to appear to be an obvious threat, remember concealed weapons only, gentlemen." There was a simultaneous chorus of ayes, and V'Shera's personnel went off to their assigned duties. (Reply None) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Science Lab 2 - Science Officer - Ensign Andrew Maddox - 1537) Andrew was busy analyzing the information gathered from the nebula. Mass spectrometers, gaseous analysis and when those were done he had a stack of other tasks to do. Even though he was elbow deep in work, he was happy. His console beeped indicating an incoming message. It was a simple text from the FO with a set of coordinates and instructions for a detailed scan and sending the results to the individual members of the away team, and the bridge. He started by loading the coordinates into the lateral sensors. What came up amused him slightly. ~What is this some sort of arboretum? No, there are animals this is an entire ecosystem. Put here by the original inhabitants? Or one of the more recent tenants?~ Xenozoology and xenobotony were never one of Andrew's strong sciences. The sensors came back with details on an area spilling over with life signs. Vertebrates, insects and flora and fauna of all different varieties. If he knew more of the intricacies of their anatomy he could tell which were predators and which were the prey. All he could do is study possible hazards, compounds that could be poisonous or hazardous. He did all he could and sent his findings to the bridge and made an accessible folder for his findings. Then he sent a message to each of the away team members and the XO, reminding them to check the database and inquire him of any problems or concerns. ~Glad it's you and not me.~ he thought. Not that he wished anyone ill fortune, he just hated away missions. (Reply any especially XO, away team if desired) (posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room- FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 3 - 1547) Josh listened as the Captain rebutted her argument and told her why she was the ideal person to lead the away team. "I understand; at least as much as I can from my own personal experience. But I need you to be there. I need your leadership and expertise. I need your judgment in dealing with these new species. I need you to go because Ensign Morgan is there and she may be able to establish a level of trust with you that may afford us some sort of advantage somewhere down the line. You're reluctance to want to carry out your duty because of your personal stake proves that you're the right person for the job. I wouldn't have selected you if I didn't think that you'd not be up to the task, regardless of your personal history. I trust you to make the right decision despite whatever emotional scars you may have from this." "I need your help now, Jennifer. Can I count on you?" he asked. Josh sighed deeply and then smiled at him. "It's not so much emotional scars as baggage, Sir. I accepted my husband's death a long time ago and I gather from the wording that Anna, most carefully, did not use, that she is probably the last survivor from her ship. The fact that my husband did not survive is not something that bothers me immediately. I've had a lot of years to learn to live with that fact and am comfortable with it. I guess it is just the shock of suddenly finding out what happened to them that has thrown me off kilter so to speak. And yes Sir, you can count on me. I will lead the away team during the negotiations. I will do everything I can to find any information we can use to get us out of here and I will, not for me, but for a lot of families back in Federation space, attempt to find out what happened to the Epiphany too." (Tag Salid iyw) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ( USS Rosenante - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Transporter Room - 1620) Josh walked into Transporter Room 1 bang on 1620 and looked around. Unfortunately only part of the away team seemed to have arrived on time and Josh frowned. "Ok, for those of you who are here, this is the update. We are about to meet an undetermined number of races who, like us seem to be stranded here too. We may find out a great deal of information in this meeting so keep your eyes and ears open." (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Transporter Room – CCOUNS Lt. (jg) Jon Nayati – 1621) Jon had felt better once he had concluded the clean up business associated with securing the sensory section on deck 3. Jon hoped that the Life Sciences department could do something with the tricorder readings and biological remains that the big bugs hadn't been able to beam away after his team had routed them off deck 3. He also hoped that the computer linguistic program could make some sense out of the untranslatable bug speech that PO Gonzales had recorded on her universal language translator. Jon had been thinking about all the aforementioned details when he had returned to the Bridge. While his security teams were engaged with the invading bugs, another group of aliens had hailed the Rose. Rather than wanting to attack, these other void ship prisoners were requesting councill with the Rose's hard pressed crew. Along with Ensign Weaver, Lieutenants Sullivan, Jackson, Raschen and the Vulcans V'Shera and T'Kron, Captain Salid had ordered Jon to be part of the Rose's negotiating team. As third officer and CCOUNS, Jon was obligated to go on this kind of away mission. But Captain Salid hadn't needed to order Jon on this particular mission. He was already determined to go, whether he had been ordered to or not. Jon's mind was already burning with intense scientific and professional curiosity about both the Rose's newly encountered aliens, and about the mysterious history of the gargantuan ship that had taken them all prisoner. There were literally hundreds of star ships inside the immense sphere of the gigantic void ship. Many of these ghost ships were both ancient and unknown to Star Fleet. Their cannibalization left the very unsettling implication that there still might be an untold number of unknown, alien star faring species alive and locked in the immense oubliette with the Rosenante. They could be species that were predatory and aggressive, like alien bugs Jon and company had just routed. The fact that many of these lifeless and ancient interstellar derelicts were in various stages of cannibalization might indicate, to Jon's troubled mind, that none of the earlier captives had ever managed to escape the cyclopean interior. ~Is that to be the Rosenante's forlorn, foredoomed fate as well, Great Spirit?~ Jon was determined to see that ageless imprisonment was not to be the abysmal fate of his ship. Having armed himself with a couple of Necron Red II barb knives, a collapsible barium steel bar and a hold-out phaser, Jon was in Transporter Room 1 when T'Kron, V'Shera and all the rest of the negotiating party entered moments later. Jon addressed each as they entered, hoping that engaging in mundane pleasantries might lighten up the atmoshere. A promise he made during his first away mission on the Rose. Chance decided to wear his micro-blaster on his wrist and his twin Bowie knives under his jacket, in addition to a few other tiny surprises. The XO had already started her brief when Chance entered the transporter room carrying a stack of, what looked like, small pieces of metal. For some unexplained reason, Raschen looked down at the patch on his right arm. When he looked up again, he noticed the stern look he got from Caskie and said “My apologies for being late ma’am. I picked something up that might help us get back to the Rose.” (Reply Caskie iyw) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Transporter Room – COPS - Lt. Tom Jackson – 1622) Tom looked at the others in the transporter room. Some looked anxious and worried and some looked calm and ready. As he waited, Tom checked his hand phasor and added armed kit to his equipment belt, Tom hoped they would not need it but, like the old earth Boy Scouts, he wanted to be prepared. Turning To Jon Nayati, Tom asked "All Set my Friend?". (reply: Jon) The two men chatted while waiting for the brief to start. His interest in military history seemed to be coming of use yet again. He wondered again he should have become a tactical or security officer back at the academy. He had chosen OPS because he wasn't particularly brave or gung-ho. His intelligence level wasn't that of a good engineer either. He smiled as he remembered the times he had functioned as an engineer. He was envious of those folks as they were truly magicians to his way of thinking. Tom waited and hoped this would be straight a forward first contact situation. Somehow Jackson had a feeling this was going to get ugly. Fully aware that she was late, but having a gaping hole in your quarters would make anyone late. “My apologies for being late ma’am. I picked something up that might help us get back to the Rose.” he stated. T'Larah following suit, "There is a hole in my quarters." she said stating a simple fact and hoping the XO would understand why she was late. (Reply Lt Commander Caskie, any other newly arrived awayteam members) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Bastion, First Hunter - Detron Dash - 1622.7*) Annoyed since ship's business had kept him from being on time for this meeting, Detron finally transported into the main chamber. He hated this place with a vengeance and refused most times to come here since it simply reminded him of how technologically superior his captors were to his race. That in itself did not annoy him, many other races were technically superior to his too, but this one race chose to flaunt it by capturing ships, stranding them inside this prison and then showing off by allowing them access to areas such as this. That annoyed Detron immensely, but when the Haruspex had contacted him informing him about the meeting with their newest cell mates, Detron knew that he had to attend. As soon as he materialised he saw the Haruspex , this time not flanked by her usual two acolytes but by someone Detron had never met before. Walking towards her to greet her he spotted the Kobali emissary lurking in the corner and as he bowed slightly to Ji'yala he scowled. "What in T'ren's name is he doing here. I beg you Haruspex, they are a parasite to all of us. Let me allow my people to hunt them and we will be rid of them once and for all and no longer will they be able to prey on all of our people." (jg) Jon Nayati – 1623.3*) As the large space around the transporter room pad filled up, Jon found himself standing next to COPS Lt. Jackson. The slightly younger man was affixing a hand phaser and an armed kit to his equipment belt. Looking at Lt. Jackson's bright aura, Jon saw a man who was at once apprehensive yet prepared to meet whatever challenge this new chain of events threw his way. Jon was thinking that Jackson would be a good officer to be serving with now, when Lt. Jackson asked him, "All set my friend?" "We all have to be Sir," Jon replied. "I feel our greatest hope for survival here involves mutual alliances between the ships' crews. The same idea holds for any chance of escape our ship will ever have. This great void is filled with skeleton ships whose crews fought rather than cooperated. We must not repeat their deadly mistakes, Lt. Jackson." (Reply Lt. Tom Jackson, IYW) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Transporter Room – COPS - Lt. Tom Jackson – 1623.7) Tom noticed Jon Nayati looking in his direction. Jackson moved over and talked to his friend. T.J. had asked Jon if he were ready. In his usual and thoughtful manner, Jon replied ""We all have to be Sir," Jon replied. "I feel our greatest hope for survival here involves mutual alliances between the ships' crews. The same idea holds for any chance of escape our ship will ever have. This great void is filled with skeleton ships whose crews fought rather than cooperated. We must not repeat their deadly mistakes, Lt. Jackson." Jackson thought for a moment. "Good thinking Jon. We'll get out my friend. Besides this is a rare chance to meet a new species. Also, relax - you will do fine. I have complete trust in you" Tom added patting his friend's shoulder. (reply: Jon IYW) More of the team arrived and waited for the First Officer to initiate transport. Jackson's thoughts returned again to his first away mission on the Nimitz. He remembered his fear, anxiety and excitement. ~I must be getting ancient! Jackson thought to himself chuckling. Several of the team were young officers were not experienced in these situations. ~Reality can sometimes be a hard task master~ he thought sighing a bit. He hoped fervently that they'd not suffer casualties. Tom had been fortunate - he had not yet faced the task of assigning officers to potentially fatal tasks in order to save the mission and ship. He wanted to ask his friend Ahmed how he had been able to cope with that as a CO but was not sure of how to broach it. Phil Sheridan, another friend, might shed some light on that. Sheridan had several years with the fleet - more than Tom had lived. (reply: any/none) (posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Bridge, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1625) Ahmed glanced up at the Chronometer, then back at Ensign Smith who was manning the Operations console in Jackson's absence. He frowned. "Mister Smith, you are aware that it is customary to notify the Captain when the away team has beamed off the ship on their way to a mission?" he asked. "Yes, captain, but they haven't left the ship yet." Smith replied. "I see, is there any problems with the transporters, or has anyone from engineering reported an inability to use them?" he asked in response. "No captain." Ahmed scowled as he turned back to look at the main viewer and the chronometer hovering directly above it. He tapped his commbadge. "Salid to Caskie." (reply Caskie) "I'd like to know why you away team is still aboard the ship commander when we are less than five minutes away from our meeting." "I want to know the instant that they materialize. I want exact time index and I want to know exactly who transported over." (reply Caskie, Smith) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (NSS Oracle's Tears, Prayer Chamber, Haruspex Ji'yala- 1626*) As Ji'yala was beginning the short meeting, the sound of a transport beam sounded and a moment later dash appeared in the chamber. The First Hunter looked a round the room and nearly snarled at the Kobali Provost, before making his way to Ji'yala. He bowed slightly then said in a voice loud enough for all to hear clearly. "What in T'ren's name is he doing here. I beg you Haruspex, they are a parasite to all of us. Let me allow my people to hunt them and we will be rid of them once and for all and no longer will they be able to prey on all of our people." Ji'yala raised her hand to silence him, but before she could complete the gesture the Kobali Provost stepped forward. "You are a primitive and irrational species, Hunter, to attack that which you clearly do not understand. It is the sign of a primitive and barbaric mind. My people do nothing more than offer your dead another opportunity at life. We do not 'prey' upon anyone. The dead belong to no one." He asserted in a loud boisterous tone, "And besides, your ship is in worse shape than ours, but we still outnumber you all combined. We would crush you with sheer numbers_" "ENOUGH!" Ji'yala shouted, cutting the Kobali leader off in the middle of his reply. "Let us this once put aside our differences. We must discuss our mutual future." "What do you mean?" Chaska, the chief of the Sky Spirits asked. "I mean that something has changed on the Hur'q ship. S'Kanon was... More aggressive than usual. This wasn't just a simple raid to him. There is something going on, that we know nothing about. And you all know as well as I do, that when the Hur'q plot, we all suffer. Individually we are too weak to stand up to the Hur'q, they are too numerous and their ship too well maintained. Together we can check their aggressions, which is why we formed this alliance, and non-aggressive treaty to begin with." she said. "The Kobali are not your allies," Qamda stated evenly. "No," Ji'yala said with a shake of her head, "but even you realize that you stand no chance if the Hur'q were to attack us or you, if we did not align our interests. And that is why we are here." "Go on." Qamda stated. "As we are all aware, there is a new arrival. They will need information to survive here, and they will need allies if they are to avoid falling prey to the Hur'q when they attack next." "If they attack next," Nekawana added. "They will attack again," Qamda replied, "they have much to gain and little to lose." Ji'yala nodded her agreement, "This is true. We must make these new arrivals our allies, perhaps we can gain information, resources and aid enough to repair our failing ships and replenish our supplies. Perhaps we can get enough supplies to allow us to return to a more normal life, all the while preparing for the coming Hur'q attack." "we seem very needy." qamda replied, "what makes you think that they are willing to talk with us?" Ji'yala nodded at Anna Morgan. The slender woman stepped forward before speaking. "I will speak to them, they are my people." Chaska spoke up. "And is your voice enough?" Anna shook her head, " no, of course not, but we can offer information in exchange for the things that we need. But if the Hur'q discover our plans..." "They will attack us," Nekawana finished. "Yes, they will." Ji'yala replied. "Which is why we must decide now, whether we offer them alliance, or we risk their destruction by the Hur'q." "And what if we offer them an alliance and they refuse it, or worse, agree to it and then fail to render us aid?" qamda asked. Ji'yala looked at Anna before answering. "Then we cleanse them, as we must to preserve ourselves. The Voice of Reason demands it." There was a murmur around the room as each of the leaders realized what she was saying. There could be no decline of the alliance. The new arrivals would join and provide for their new allies, or they would be killed. "Let us now put it to a vote." Ji'yala stated, "shall we put forth our offer of alliance as outlined with in this meeting, yeah or nay?" NRPG: I bet you wish that I'd show the votes don't you? You'll have to wait and see. :P (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - 1627) Almost as soon as Josh had finished her briefing, what there was of it, almost all of the missing away team arrived one behind the other. Some with apologies and/or valid reasons, some with neither. Josh made a mental note regarding who seemed to have a reason and who just assumed that they could get away with it. Nodding to all of them and noticing that T'Kron was still missing she was about to page him when the Captain contacted her. =/\= Salid to Caskie. =/\= Josh tapped her comm badge. "Caskie here." =/\= I'd like to know why you away team is still aboard the ship Commander when we are less than five minutes away from our meeting. =/\= Josh almost cringed, but somehow managed not to. ~Great girl. You're first solo away mission and you get your head bitten off by the Captain for being late. How good is that?~ Tapping her badge again Josh sounded a lot more confident than she felt. "We are still awaiting a member of the away team Sir." "I will not accept that as an excuse commander. Have your team to the rendezvous on time. Even if that means you have to leave without members of the away team. I will handle disciplinary actions afterwards if necessary. this is a very critical point and we can not mess this up." This time Josh did wince and she didn't care who else saw it. Tapping her badge she said the only thing she could say. "Acknowledged Sir. We are on our way now." Turning to the away team she looked at them, trying hard not to fume inside. "You all heard the Captain lets not keep our new friends waiting. Mr Raschen, I suggest you beam over first with your team. When you give us the all clear the rest of us will join you. Let's go ladies and gentlemen." (Reply all on the away team) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS ROSENANTE - Transporter Room 1 - CSEC - LT(jg) Chance Raschen - 1627.5) "Mr. Raschen, I suggest you beam over first with your team. When you give us the all clear the rest of us will join you. Let's go ladies and gentlemen.." Caskie had ordered. “Aye, Aye ma‘am.” Raschen kept one of the small items that was in his hand and started passing the rest around “V’Shera, Warren, Johnson, Harding, Fox, Wales; take one of these and pass’em on then get on the pad.” (Reply any iyw) “This is a little pirate trick I used to use that helps maintain a transporter lock.” Once he stepped on the pad, Raschen looked at the transporter operator “Energize” Then the Transporter room vanished. (Reply any iyw) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Harvester, Bastion, Haruspex Ji'yala- 1628) Ji'yala and the others had transported over by matter displacement almost immediately after the vote was concluded. Their course of action was firmly in their minds as they waited for the new arrival's diplomatic team to arrive. They were not surprised that they did not have to wait long. The sound of the Federation transporter beams was much different from those of the other inhabitants within the Harvester. They had a high whining sound that one could not miss as disturbing. When the transport cycle was completed, there was a small group of men wearing golden colored uniforms. Among them was a Vulcan woman. Ji'yala nodded at them and took a step forward. "I am Ji'yala. This is ambassador Morgan, she will speak on the behalf of those assembled here." (reply Raschen) NRPG: Caskie ordered Raschen's team over first and to signal her if all was clear. "Greetings. Are you authorized to discuss matters of alliance and conduct diplomatic policy?" (reply Raschen) NRPG: I am going to assume that Chance says no and instead mentions Caskie. "Then please summon this person of whom you speak. So that we may begin. (reply Raschen) Again the sound of the federation transporters was clearly distinguishable and a few moments later a second team from the federation Starship materialized. Anna Stepped forward. "Commander Caskie? Jennifer Caskie?" her voice seemed filled with surprise and for a moment Ji'yala was worried that there was a problem. (reply Caskie) "I'm Anna Morgan. I graduated with your husband Donald. We were stationed together on the Epiphany." she said in an attempt to make a connection with the woman standing before them. (reply Caskie) Ji'yala cleared her throat. Anna immediately bowed, then turned back to Caskie. "Forgive me commander. I am here in the capacity of Ambassador. I represent the alliance of beings that you see here. She began introducing those present indicating each with her hand as he called their names. This is Haruspex Ji'yala of the Nechani ship, Oracle's Tears; First Hunter Dretron Dash, of the Hunter ship, Ne'Q; Chief Nekawana and his Daughter Chaska, of the Sky Spirit Ship, Ina'hayeh; and Provost Qamda of the Kobali ship Cial." (reply Caskie, all on away team) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Harvester- Bastion- LT(jg) Chance Raschen - 1629) As they materialized, Chance noticed several alien beings that he was not familiar with, and a human woman. One of the males stepped forward "I am Ji'yala. This is ambassador Morgan, she will speak on the behalf of those assembled here." ~K.I.S.S. method, K.I.S.S. method~ the Chief of Security thought. Chance wanted to keep as much focus on him and off his team as possible as they made a sweep of the area. So he simply turned slightly so that the I.F.F. patch on his right arm was more visible, hoping that curiosity will get the better of their host‘s entourage. Raschen nodded at each as introduced and matched the new acquaintances gesture for gesture, “Honored to meet you; I’m Lieutenant Chance Raschen.” "Greetings. Are you authorized to discuss matters of alliance and conduct diplomatic policy?" “No ma’am; simply here to insure the safety and security of our representative. Commander Caskie will be the one to discuss the matters in-which you’re concerned.” Raschen explained as the security team finished up. "Then please summon this person of whom you speak. So that we may begin.” With a smirk, Chance quipped “I would never presume to summon my betters sir.” then turned toward V’shera. (Reply V’Shera iyw) Once Raschen received the signal he was looking for, he tapped his badge “This is Raschen; Commander, its clear.” ~at least for the time being~ (Reply Caskie iyw) Again the sound of the federation transporters was clearly distinguishable and a few moments later a second team from the federation Starship materialized. (Reply V’Shera, Caskie iyw) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Harvester - Bastion - FO, Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - 1630) Once she received the all clear from Raschen Josh ordered the rest of the away team to join her on the transporter and had them all beamed over. Josh eyed up the group waiting for them. At least four separate species, none of which she had seen before and none of them from the race who had attacked them. That meant that there were at least five separate species here, wherever here was. A moment later Anna stepped forward and spoke, surprise in her voice. "Commander Caskie? Jennifer Caskie?" Josh smiled minimally and nodded her head. "Yes, I am Lt Cmdr Jennifer Caskie, First Officer of the USS Rosenante." "I'm Anna Morgan. I graduated with your husband Donald. We were stationed together on the Epiphany." Josh smiled broadly this time. Since Anna did in fact remember her it might help this go a bit more smoothly. "I remember you Ensign Morgan. I'm glad to see you in such good health." Josh however did not ask about the Epiphany and it's crew. She would much rather get Anna in private before she did that. The woman standing next to Anna cleared her throat and Anna bowed to her and then turned back to face Josh. "Forgive me commander. I am here in the capacity of Ambassador. I represent the alliance of beings that you see here. She began introducing those present indicating each with her hand as he called their names. This is Haruspex Ji'yala of the Nechani ship, Oracle's Tears; First Hunter Dretron Dash, of the Hunter ship, Ne'Q; Chief Nekawana and his Daughter Chaska, of the Sky Spirit Ship, Ina'hayeh; and Provost Qamda of the Kobali ship Cial." Josh's eyebrow climbed slightly at the way Anna had responded to the woman and looking at the Nechani woman began to think that this was probably the person in charge. Josh bowed to minimally to them once and since she had already introduced herself she introduced the rest of her team one by one. Looking back at Anna she smiled again. "Now that all the pleasantries have been taken care of I have several questions that I need answers to. Firstly who brought our ship here and why. Who attacked us on arrival and why and lastly, for now, I have counted five distinct species, including the ones who attacked us, are there any more here?" (Reply Anna and all on the away team) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Harvester - Bastion - 2O/CTAC - Lieutenant T'Larah Sullivan - 1630.5) It wasn't long before the Security Chief gave the 'all clear', and the rest of the team beamed down. T'Larah materialized with the rest of them in to a lush vegetated area, very much like the ship's arboretum. Only the familiar Federation world plants had been replaced by alien versions. There was a gathering of sentients directly across from the Rose's away team, some of which T'Larah even at this distance could feel emanations of distrust and anticipation, but no feelings of hostile intent. T'Larah would tell the XO as such, but she would wait for a more appropriate opportunity. There were five other races represented, one of which was the human woman who had hailed the Rose on standard Starfleet frequencies. The Ambassador had already begun by addressing Lieutenant Commander Caskie, the two apparently knew each other. After a short introduction of all those present, and an affirmation of familiarity they got to the business at hand. "Now that all the pleasantries have been taken care of I have several questions that I need answers to. Firstly who brought our ship here and why. Who attacked us on arrival and why and lastly, for now, I have counted five distinct species, including the ones who attacked us, are there any more here?" Jennifer asked. "Your ship was brought here by the device in which you reside. It has come to be called the Harvester by those that live or have lived here. We believe it is automated, as we have never seen any sign of any living beings that seem to be in control of the device." "You were attacked by another faction called the Hur'q. They are an insect-like race, bent on domination. They once invaded the Klingon home world millennia ago. One of the Epiphany's Klingon security officers identified them. They are opportunists and raiders. They number in the thousands and raid the rest of us periodically. That is the reason that we've banded together. They always attack new arrivals, usually in an attempt to seize supplies. Of all the species currently alive here, they have been here the longest and are the most aggressive." "The Dosi may or may not still be around. They are very isolated and refuse to respond to any hails. As far as we are aware, there are only us represented here and the Hur'q. There is a phenomenon called the ghostly lights that will appear from time to time on one of the ships, but we believe it to be some sort of energy phenomenon, perhaps caused by some sort of scanning device inside the harvester." After that the collective "Alliance" began to ask for the Rosenante's membership and then began to dictate the terms of the partnership. ~It seems mostly one-sided. Not much of a deal at all. Perhaps now would be a good time to talk to Lt Cmdr. Caskie. "Sir, can I speak to you for a moment?" T'Larah said in a discreet tone so that the Commander could hear. (Reply Lt Cmdr. Caskie) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (The Harvester, Bastion, Ambassador Anna Morgan & Haruspex Ji'yala- 1631) Ji'yala smiled and bowed back to the commander Caskie, first Officer of the Rosenante. As she listened, she noted with an interest that Morgan seemed to have personal knowledge of the woman known as Jennifer Caskie. This could benefit them considerably in their efforts to work out an alliance. It would be a shame to be forced to destroy them to get what they needed when they could just as easily accomplish it with diplomacy. The Haruspex listened intently as the human woman introduced her people. It seemed that this group of federation people were very similar to the last that had arrived on the Epiphany all those years ago. They had come in number, escorted by security, but in the end they had decided that they should remain neutral. It was a decision that eventually would make them a target of the Hur'q and would spell their imminent demise. Caskie spoke then. "Now that all the pleasantries have been taken care of I have several questions that I need answers to. Firstly who brought our ship here and why? Who attacked us on arrival and why? and lastly, for now, I have counted five distinct species, including the ones who attacked us, are there any more here?" Anna turned and looked at Ji'yala. The leader of the alliance nodded and Anna responded to the commander's queries. "Your ship was brought here by the device in which you reside. It has come to be called the Harvester by those that live or have lived here. We believe it is automated, as we have never seen any sign of any living beings that seem to be in control of the device." "You were attacked by another faction called the Hur'q. She smiled, then turned to look at Ji'yala again. Anna took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Now we have some questions for you as well commander." "We wish to know if you would join our alliance, share information, supplies technologies and other things that would be of importance to the individual members of the alliance. This alliance would include military protection as well as limited scientific exchange." Anna glanced back at Ji'yala again. The Haruspex nodded. "And we would like to make it known that we consider this offer available only for a limited time. Should you decline it, or delay too long in joining, you would be unable to join us later. Then you would be unable to call on us again when the Hur'q attack you." "Your captain would also agree to abide by the wishes of the Haruspex, who is the head of the alliance." Anna indicated Ji'yala. "She has the guidance of the Divine Voices and has been appointed the leader of the alliance, by her peers." (reply Caskie) "As to the questions, that we have. We'd like to know how many crew are serving aboard the Rosenante, her tactical capabilities, and her level of functionality. We would also like to know where the Rosenante was, as in which sector of space she was in, when she was trapped by the harvester."
