"I… uhh… yeah, pretty much. With power knocked out on some parts of the ship, there was a big crowd down there." He almost didn't flinch as he said it, too. Josh counted to ten mentally since this was not his fault. "I see, and I do thank you for bringing it to us, but I will speak to the person in charge down there. You have far more important things to do than run lunch monitor for the bridge Mr Weaver. You are dismissed back to what you originally should have been doing. However....." and Josh regarded the sorry excuse for his lunch dangling from his hand.... "Perhaps you might want to avail yourself of some of the food you brought to us before you leave since your lunch seems to have suffered somewhat in the process. Help yourself Mr Weaver, you get first choice." Dorian could feel his bag sloshing around as the soup had, by now, leaked from its container. "Much appreciated, commander." He promptly helped himself to a chicken salad in a ciabatta roll. "Now if you'll excuse me, duty calls." T'Kron - Day 3 - 1417) "Morrow, T'Kron, with me," Martinovich said as she stood, grabbing her PADDS and sticking them in pockets on her uniform. Once through, she pulled her hair back and put it in a rough pony tail. "Rest will have to wait, for the moment." she said as the three began making their way to a turbolift. "We're about to go back into the soup. Morrow, spread out some teams and watch those EPS conduits, if they fail again while we're making a headlong rush..." Lt. Morrow nodded, "You've got it Chief," he replied simply. "T'Kron, you'll be with me in Engineering," the CEO ordered. "Aye, Sir," said T'Kron walking quickly with them to keep up. He was concerned that the repair crews would begin to make dangerous mistakes due to fatigue and hoped the new shift rotation would help them rest enough to improve performance. "The crew morale is low enough that I have already had to break up one fight in a repair crew, Sir," said T'Kron. "There has been little time to report it and I believe the two crew involved were suffering from exhaustion." (Reply Alimi Morrow, Stacey Martinovich, Any) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Main Engineering – ACEO Lt. T'Kron - 1434) When T'Kron saw the green field contouring itself while moving through the ship around everyone and everything, he grabbed a Tricorder and started scanning it quickly. The Chief turned her head to look over her shoulder and watched the green light disappear from the last space in Engineering. Her eyebrow quirked slightly and she bellowed, "Just what the hell was that?" Before T'Kron could reply, the ship went to Red Alert. The CEO then bellowed, "Route all available power to shields, prepare to route to weapons!" The Rosenante began to shudder not long later, just bad enough to force Martinovich to grab the console. "Report!" T'Kron, looking at his console, answered, "It is possible that we the ship is being held in a tractor field. It is so widespread that it can't be called a tractor beam." He looked over at his Chief. "The green light appears to have been some sort of a scanning field." (Reply Stacey Martinovich, Any) "T'Kron, start cycling the shield Freqs, we're in a beam and its breaking through!" "Aye Sir," answered T'Kron. He cycled through the modulation of shield frequencies, much as they did in drills when simulating Borg attacks. But no matter what frequency he used, the beam or field went past their shields anyway, almost as if they had no shields. He kept cycling through adding other frequencies, but it did not stop the tractor field at all. =^=Engineering, I need power to the impulse drives now!=^= said the captain's voice over the comm channels. "Already on it Cap," said the CEO from a secondary console. The engines immediately went into overload and the impulse houses went red-line temperature. The CEO must have increased the flow of coolant to the engines, bringing the pressure to several hundred PSI over the specs. They all heard them whine in protest.. Several seconds and many alarms later, the engines cut out by a command from the bridge. "Yeah, great," said Lt. Martinovich. "What's the status of the shield frequency sweep?" she shouted. "Ineffective Sir," T'Kron reported. "Changing the modulation of the shields did nothing." A bright blue glow caught their attention and began moving toward them. T'Kron had enough time to grab his tricorder again and begin a scan. The chief said, "Oh, not again... What the he..." (Reply Martinovich, Any) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 3- 1454) As the reports and data filtered in, Captain Salid turned to Tom and ordered" Mister Jackson," Ahmed said turning his attention to the ship's Chief of Operations. "With our Portside reactor down and the power relays still in need of some serious repair, we're going to have to institute power rationing. That means I want all food replicators taken off-line, and any compartments that are not occupied or environmentally critical powered down. Have Chef Gastineau start using the ship's standard stores for the crews meals. Work up a meal rotation schedule so that everyone has a time they can take a bite to eat, for three squares or more as their unique physiology may require. Cancel all non-critical Holodeck use and go to standby lighting in common areas. We'll need to maintain full power availability on the sensors, SIF, Tactical shields, and any other critical ship's systems. Get with Mister Sullivan to figure out where we can cut power from some of the ship's tactical systems without leaving us too vulnerable." Tom digested the orders, his mind racing to figure out what needed to be done. "Aye, aye Sir - I am beginning that now" Tom replied fingers flying over his console. sent a message ship wide to alert folks the food replicators and the Holo-decks were going off-line as NOW as part of ship-wide power rationing. Jackson next opened a channel to Chef Gastineau. "Chief, Lt Jackson here. Per the Co's orders all food replicators are going off-line as a part of ship -wide power rationing". (reply: Chef) "Please use our standard stores to feed the ship's personnel. We also need to coordinate a mess schedule taking into account any special dietary needs of our personnel. A s soon as the replicators can be brought back on-line, I'll let you know" Tom added. (reply: Chef) Tom added "Sorry for the short notice Chef - Jackson out' and Tom closed the channel. Jackson instituted reduced lighting in common areas. This would probably tick off some of the civilians but oh well - this was part of live on a big star ship. His Ferengi friend Graatz, was an OPS officer on a Defiant Class ship and didn't have civilians to worry over. Tom called Lt Sullivan and began the process of deciding what tactical systems could be cut without too big of a risk to the ship. (rely: Lt Sullivan IYW) As Tom waited for a response, he monitored the SIF, Tactical shielding and additional critical functions. (reply: any/none) (posted by: Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Main Engineering – ACEO Lt. T'Kron - 1456) "...ll is THAT?" said Lt. Martinovich. "Whoever the hell is playing with my ship," she growled, "Is going to..." The ship suddenly rocked and hull alarms started going off. T'Kron still holding the Tricorder running its scan, nearly dropped it as the ship shifted underneath them. He had enough time to note that it read as a transporter field when Lt. Martinovich started shouting. "Reroute power to shields; get me something!" she bellowed as she brought up master weapons control. T'Kron also saw the shields were down and began working immediately to get them back up. "What in the bloody hell," snarled Lt. Martinovich as the ship rocked again, followed moments later by [Intruder Alert Deck 3] from the computer. Lt. Martinovich stood quickly. "Break out the phasers!" she practically screamed. Making sure that Ensign McKinley stationed beside him kept working to bring up the shields, T'Kron was already running for one of the weapons storage units, unlocked automatically by the ship's security protocols. He began handing out weapons as fast as possible. One crewman tossed a hand held phaser to the frenetic CEO. T'Kron quickly emptied the storage locker, and slinging a phaser rifle around his body, he returned to his console. "Increase power from the reactor," Lt. Martinovich bellowed in general, working frantically at her control console. When the forcefields popped up around Main Engineering, T'Kron remained unsurprised. He was pleased the ship's security protocols were still functioning. Lt. Martinovich slapped her commbadge and said, "Engineering to Bridge, what the hell just happened?" T'Kron listened as he kept working quickly at trying to bring power to the shields, wanting to know what had happened as well. (Reply Stacey Martinovich, Any) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 11 - Hur'q Sub-Commander Nu'chei - 1500) Nu'chei's teams materialized on the eleventh level down from the uppermost deck. His mandibles put forth several series of clicks and tones separating the different groups into rapid tasks to accomplish before their transport relay back to their vessel. He didn't dignify them with using names he just pointed. His tones and clicks were emphasized by pheromones excreted by glands in his thorax. He took glee in knowing that any sort of translation device would be hard pressed in discovering any meaning. "You, your team will concentrate on finding information we can use against them. Attempt to access their computers, find biological and technological samples. You, you and you find their cargo and tag it for relay back to the hive, your Queen demands it. My team and your team will harass our hosts to ensure mission accomplishment. Those sent to the third level have their own mission." he commanded. "For the Colony!" They responded in unison. The teams went about their tasks. Nu'chei had assigned all members with their directed energy long rifles, and one member of each team carried an under-barrel resonator. A device which used the individual Hur'q's own vocal processes to resonate the target per the weponeer's wishes. Anything from enough raw force to bust down a door or shatter stone combined with the precision to burst a target's organs in their thorax. The only drawback is that it can't be used in the vacuum of space. "You I want through this door!" he commanded, to which the plate armored insectoid only too hurriedly obeyed. The soldier set his resonator to high out-put and wide dispersal, his input device picked up the buzzing issued from his mandibles which rapidly increased in volume and intensity until the device released the energy, sending a wave of power that rippled the air and tore the door from it's moorings sending it flying into the room, impacting the furniture inside. The room itself was empty, the furniture directly in front of the door was broken and unusable. ~ It seems their architecture is strange and alien. It seems that they value privacy like the other species that the Hur'q have encountered. They don't realize the efficiency of communal dormitories.~ "This room is useless." he sent with pheromones indicating his distaste. "This way." he said and orange beam lanced out at one of his team. "Return fire, what are you waiting for?" he said. The Hur'q soldiers readied themselves and returned fire with their own violet bolts of power. "Show them the fury of the Colony!" he ordered. "FOR THE COLONY!" Came the response. Tapping her comm on her way there she requested a security team to meet them and requested that they bring an extra two phaser rifles for them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Deck 11 – ATAC Ensign (jg) V'Shera – 1502) V'Shera was grateful for all the years of martial arts training that she was able to recover quickly from being slammed into the bulkhead. After a moment of disorientation, V'Shera was able to rendezvous with security forces assigned to her command. Like V'Shera, her subordinates had sustained minor abrasions and contusions but none were seriously incapacitated. After assessing the general fitness of all her troops, V'Shera's orders were simple. "Fan out, kill all alien intruders, save one. Comm back with your situational status." V'Shera joined with Lt. Web's security forces and together they headed for section 14 on Deck 10. It didn't take them long to get to section 14, and the minute they arrived V'Shera and company were up to their butts in six legged, bipedal , human-sized insectoids dressed in bizarre samurai armor. The insect aggressors' sharp, clicking language was incomprehensible to the Rose's translators. The insectoids' weird armor was resistant to even heavy stun settings of V'Shera's security forces. Fortunately, type two phaser pistols and rifles were effective in slaying the invaders. The intense fire fight between V'Shera's forces and their insect counterparts raged on for deadly minutes. During that time, V'Shera received incoming reports from those tact and security forces in sections 15 and 16. In both sections the security teams reported that they were also engaged in equally fierce fire fights. So concentrated were all these fire fights that V'Shera and her subordinates were almost oblivious to the ship to ship attacks against the Rosenante. V'Shera's commbadge chirped. Raschen's voice said, =/\=V'Shera, gimme a sit-rep.=/\= "We are fighting hostiles on Deck 11 in Sections 14 and 15. We have driven the enemy back, Sir. They have sustained greater casualties. So far I have been unable to acquire a prisoner," reported V'Shera. "They are removing their dead and their technology makes them immune to high stun settings." (Reply Chance Raschen, Any) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS ROSENANTE - Deck 11 - CSEC - LT(jg) Chance Raschen - 1503) As Raschen started moving his group forward to engage the intruders, he suddenly realized a terrible mistake on his part. When he checked to see where the intruders were the security system registered the groups on decks 11 and 12. Chances mistake was acknowledging the breach before the alarm went off for it; because of that he had forgotten about the smaller group that was announced on deck 3. “Wales, get up here!” Once a Marine Gunnery Sergeant, Chief Petty Officer Edward Wales changed branches to fleet in order to remain aboard the Rose. “What’s up skip?” he asked a phaser blasts flew up and down the corridor. “Chief, I FUBARed big time. I want you to take half of my group here and head up to Deck 3 on repel the boarding party there. If possible take the leader prisoner, beyond that I don’t care; Hooah.?.” Raschen replied as he fought. Chief Wales fired off a few blasts, replied with “Hoo-Rah” and started yelling out the names of the leaders of the squads that he would be leading up deck 3. They continued firing as they pulled back. “Alright ladies and germs, I only want one prisoner and that’s their leader for this group. The rest is to be One Shot, One Kill, Got It! Now rout’em out people!” Chance stopped fighting like Starfleet had trained him, and backslid into his old ways of fighting which had always been affective in the past. He came out from behind cover, screaming at the top of his lungs, firing toward the intruders as he ran toward them. This startled a few of the intruders just enough that some were injured and only a couple were killed. “Push them back into a corner; I want this turned into a shooting gallery!” Chance yelled, hoping to motivate his people to fight and push the intruders back. Minutes into the battle, The Chief of Security hit his comm-badge “V’Shera; gimme a sit-rep.” (Reply V’Shera) (Reply V’Shera) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Turbolift 2 - FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 3- 1504) As Josh and the 3O entered the lift Josh was trying to remind herself of what was on deck 3 that could be so important. ~Ok the Security and Tactical Offices are on that deck, but they surely will be well guarded, so what else?~ Going through it in her head Josh realised that a lot of the sensor systems had facilities on that deck and that if you could not shut down the main ones then shutting down these systems would work just as well. As the turbolift opened the security squad she requested appeared in view with two of their members carrying the extra phaser rifles. Grabbing both of the and handing one of them to Mr Natayi, she began giving everyone their orders. "Ok folk. There are several areas on this deck that we need to secure. But the three major ones are the Sensor Array, the Sensor Maintenance and Environmental Subsystems." Turning to Mr Natayi she smiled at him. "Will you please take half of the team and sweep through the Sensor Suite. I'll take the others and check out the Environment Subsystems. If you have a problem then call out and we will come back you up if possible. But, don't wait for us. (jg) Jon Nayati - 1505) After the gigantic space ship had scanned the Rose, things had happened at nightmare speed. Time seemed to accelerate. First, they seemed to be scanned, then a massively powerful tractor beam reached out from the mysterious monolith ship and held the smaller Rose in a giant fist. The Bridge crew tried valiantly to escape, all to no avail. Then, seemingly in the next instant, the whole Rosenante was beamed into a starless expanse filled with hundreds of other star ships, most of which were gutted with their skeletal structures remaining within the spherical void. Finally, Red Alerts sounded throughout the ship, as the Rose was simultaneously attacked by other ships without and invaded by intruders from within. Captain Salid had dispatched Lt. Raschen and Ensign V'Shera to deal with intruders even as the Rose was held. As Lt. Sullivan was coordinating tactical shields and weapons' fire against the three smaller attacking void ships, Lt. Cmdr. Caskie spoke up. "What do you need me to do, Sir?" "Take Mister Nayati and a security team and secure deck 3," Captain Salid ordered her. "I need to know what we're facing." Jon was moving even as Captain Salid ordered the First Officer into action. He stood up, took the safety off his type two phaser pistol and waited for his superior officer to join him. He heard Caskie order a security team to bring additional phaser rifles for both of them. Before he and Lt. Cmdr. Caskie stepped into the open turbolift, Jon opened an adjacent equipment locker and withdrew a medical tricorder. "Though this is a combat mission, it might help to know something about the biology of the enemies which we have to fight and kill," said Jon. (jg) Jon Nayati – 1507) Their smooth turbolift ride to Deck 3 was quick, tense and silent. Though Lt. Cmdr. Caskie said nothing, Jon could see her aura blaze with anxiety and intense concentration. Though he did not read Caskie's mind, Jon guessed that her thoughts were totally focused on the tactical aspects of dealing with the unknown foes they would be facing. Jon prayed to the Great Spirit that his aim would be true, his heart would be brave and many of his current tribe's enemies would be slain. He also prayed his fellow tribesmen would be spared an early trip to the Happy Hunting Ground. The turbolift door opened. Jon and Lt. Cmdr. Caskie stepped out to meet the security forces gathered there. She took one of the extra phaser rifles and gave the other to Jon. "Ok folks," Caskie said. "There are several areas on this deck that we need to secure. But the three major ones are the Sensor Array, the Sensor Maintenance and Environmental Subsystems." Jon nodded in silent agreement with First Officer Caskie's prioritization of their current mission. He heard the whispered acknowledgement by the restless security forces. It was the edginess that most warriors experienced before they began killing, and sometimes dying themselves. It was an experience Jon remembered well from his days as a Necron Red II warrior medicine man. Turning to Jon, she smiled and said, "Will you please take half of the team and sweep through the Sensor Suite? I'll take the others and check out the Environmental Subsystems. If you have a problem then call out, and we will come back you up if possible. But don't wait for us. We are under attack; if you see someone who is not a member of Starfleet, shoot first and don't hold back." "Though I'm primarily a Counselor, Sir, I'm still a Necron Red and a very good shot. We Necrons have lived by the one shot, one kill doctrine. There, if you miss the first shot, you'll not live long enough to take a second." There was a hearty roar of agreement behind Jon. "We'll get your job done, Sir, "Jon said with decisive finality. (Reply Josh Caskie, Any) Turning, Jon and his security forces made a dead run toward the Sensor Suite. We Necrons have lived by the one shot, one kill doctrine. There, if you miss the first shot, you'll not live long enough to take a second." The roar of agreement from the security detail almost deafened Josh but she grinned at him. "Then perhaps it might be me calling on you for backup mister, since I rather doubt I am such a good shot as that." "We'll get your job done, Sir, "Jon said with decisive finality. Grinning Josh nodded her head. "I have no doubt about that. Good luck and good hunting." She watched them make a dead run for the Sensor Suite before turning to her own group and addressing them. "I'd rather not go charging in so why don't we see if we can sneak up on anyone not authorised to be where we find them. Taylor, take point, Chavez, your watching our six. The rest of you, in the middle with me. Lets go get the little bug.......s." Creeping down the corridor Taylor held up his arm to signify for them all to stop just before they turned the corner. Josh moved up and lying flat on the floor craned her head around the corner and jerked it back again just before a shot almost took it off. "Heads up folks. Three hostiles. One attempting to gain entry, two guarding. Someone give me a phaser please." Finding a normal type 2 phaser slapped into her hand she dialled it up to overload and counting to six tossed it underarm round the corner. Not only hearing but feeling the blast wave she stuck her head round again and was happy to see a heap of body parts lying there. "Ok, that worked this time. Let's hope we don't have to do that too often or we're going to run out of phasers. All clear, lets go." (NRPG - I've just so, always, wanted to do that lol. Sorry, just could not resist it.) RPG: Reaching the Environmental Subsystem doors, Josh stood to one side and keyed in her command override. As the doors slid open she was glad that she had stood to the side since she and her team were met with a barrage of phaser fire from inside. Calling out who she was she stuck her head round the door extremely carefully once the firing from inside had stopped. Someone rose from behind one of the consoles and asked what had happened to the hostiles. Josh chuckled. "We have, I believe the expression is, 'neutralised them'. You can all come out of hiding now. Report please." While the senior crew member was reporting to Josh, Taylor came up to her and signaled her that he needed to speak to her urgently. Asking the crewman to wait a moment she turned to Taylor and asked what was so urgent. "Sir, comm chatter is telling me that we have destroyed two of the three raiders attacking us. The third has backed off, but not only have all the bodies of our assailants been beamed off the Rose but all of our dead have been beamed off too." Josh was surprised, not that the raiders had been beamed away but that their own dead had been taken too. "I see. I think I need to get back to the bridge. Can you organise everything down here please. Oh and send someone to the 3O's team and ask him to head back to the bridge too if he can." (jg) Jon Nayati – 1510.5) "Anyone of you know how many crew would be in the sensor suite during this particular shift," Jon asked. After brief silence, security Yeoman Elvis Fowler spoke up. "Sir, I have a friend PO3 Crantz. He works this shift. According to him we should expect two maybe three on duty". Fowler became silent as the others turned and looked at him. "That's excellent, Fowler," Jon replied. "That means the suite crew is still alive." Looking down at the tricorder screen, Jon said. "I've got life form readings of three crew hiding inside the suite, with twelve insectoids looking for them. I've got two more bugs guarding the open hatch leading into the suite." (Reply Any) "Gonzales, any luck with the translator." "No," Rita spat angrily. "There appears to be no corollaries between this ugly bug speak and any insectivan speech in this damned translator's stupid data base." "Crap," Jon heard someone say behind him. "Damn, we'll have to deal with it," Jon said under his breathe. "Go ahead and record it PO1 Gonzales. When we get out here, we can feed it into the ship's compu…..." Unexpectedly there was the sudden sound of phaser fire inside the sensor suite. Simultaneously Jon heard the rising sounds of enraged bug click-clanking and the eerie sound of intruder energy weapons' fire. Apparently the alien bugs and hidden crew had found each other - which would provide Jon the distraction he was hoping for. With the enemy's attention focused inside, it gave his boys the advantage of momentary and deadly surprise. ~We won't be over heard running up, and the invading bugs will be caught in a cross of deadly phaser fire.~ "Go, let's kill'em all," Jon growled vehemently as he stood up. "Fowler, waste the left bug. I'll take the right." Jon moved and fired as his troops stormed toward the suite. (Reply, Yeoman Fowler, Any) Jon's phaser rifle spit death into the ant-like head of momentarily distracted insectoid door guard. The ugly bug's head exploded in a satisfying blossom of disgusting greenish yellow ichor. A moment later the bug head on the left detonated. "Great shoot, Yeoman Fowler," Jon yelled out. (Reply, Fowler, Silverberg, Gonzales, Any) 'Once in, half break left, half break right." Jon yelled, diving through the open hatchway. (Reply, Fowler, Silverberg, Gonzales, Any) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Deck 3, Outside Sensor Suite – Security Yeoman Elvis Fowler – 1511) Elvis Fowler was gratified the LT appreciated his input. He was sure thought the two petty officers were going to 'speak' to him later. The work to try and translate the clicking and buzzing into a translatable language was not going well. Fowler suspected this meant a fire fight was imminent. Lt Nayati read the tricorder's output - the Rosenante's crewmen and the bugs found each other. They all heard phaser fire. Fowler pulled his phaser out and checked its settings. This would be the first time he had ever fired in combat. He gulped nervously and waited fro orders. Lt Nayati rapidly issued orders ""Fowler, waste the left bug. I'll take the right." Jon moved and fired as his troops stormed toward the suite. "You got it LT" he replied. Elvis entered and fired and hit his target square on. Phaser fire was erupting all around him. He found he wasn't nervous but pumped up. Fowler ducked as fire zipped near his head. Scanning around he located a bug looking at him and raising what looked like a weapon. He beat the bug to the draw by a split second. The bug literally exploded cowering him with its remains. ~*^%$#@!~ Fowler swore - the remains stank to high heaven and now so did he. Glancing around, he saw Hugo Crantz down and injured. Fowler sprinted to Hugo's location and knelt to tend to his pal. "Good to see the cavalry made it" Crantz grinned in between twinges of pain. Elvis Fowler grinned and said "It is tacky to made too early an apperance Hugo". Fowler had had some First Aide training and his friend's wound did not appear serious. Once Hugo had been treated, Crantz replied "Let's kick some A** Elvis". The pair looked around to see hwere help was needed. "Belay that Mr Taylor. I've changed my mind. Leave two of your force here to safeguard the room and the crew here and the rest of us will go see if Lt Nayati could use some help." Taylor grinned, signaling two of his people to remain in the room. "Indeed Sir. Will you be needing another type 2 phaser?" Josh grinned back at him. "We'll see Mr Taylor, we'll see. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Plus I wouldn't want to cause too much damage to the ship internally. I don't think the Captain would be too happy if I went around blowing it up from the inside." Making their way back down the corridor to the sensor suite they eventually connected with the party Lt Nayati was leading. "We've managed to neutralise the intruders in Environmental Subsystems. Do you need a hand here?" It seems that we are not focus of the Hur'Q assault this time. The ship is retaliating, but not at full strength. Our sensors do not enable us to figure out if they simply do not have the strength to retaliate at this time or not. However they are launching photon torpedoes. They have made several strikes, but are not going for the kill. My assessment is that they have not met the Hur'Q before and are unaware of their raiding tactics and are simply attempting to frighten them off without doing too much damage." "Communications from most of the ships coming in. Apart from the Kobali, Tren rot their souls, since they insist on being neutral, everyone else is willing to fight for the newcomer. Should we agree to this too" Dreton thought about if for a few moments. "Adzon, it loses us nothing to agree and we are almost dead in the water anyway. Dorian mused out loud. He could hardly imagine what they had done this time to offend anyone on such short notice. Once the intruder alert had been sounded, barely a deck above them, Dorian had had his staff armed and the doors locked to voice ID. He had then devoted half of his crew to internal sensors, to map what was happening on the ship. The other half was still on outer sensor pallets, trying to make sense of the jumble the Rose was swimming in. It barely made sense, and the raw data was phenomenal. The comings and goings inside the ship were a bit more grim, however. But they followed a pattern, definitely. He grabbed a PADD and started dictating: "Intruder pattern seems to mimic guerilla warfare tactics, specifically supply runs. Taking over the ship does not seem to be a priority at all. This seems to indicate the possibility that they are acting out of desperation, rather than sociological or political motives. Had the ship been at full strength, they might not have attacked at all. External sensors indicate contradictory activity among other vessels. Perhaps this means that there is some sort of tension among the various groups trapped in this sphere. I recommend we try to open negociations with those who have not shown aggresive demeanour toward us. Their experiences inside this 'holding pen' might help us get out of it. If the USS Epiphany is indeed in here, we might be able to jury-rig its nav deflector to repair ours. End Report." The rocking had stopped, and the fighting seemed to have subsided on most decks. He queued his report into the system to be read by the CO and FO when they had the chance. He wasn't a warrior, but he could still give his opinion. Obviously it was sent for T'Larah to address when she had attended to her tactical duties. T'Larah locked her station and approached OPS. "Perhaps you would like to discuss the tactical power systems allocation now?" she inquired. (Reply Lt Jackson) "Yes, I believe shields are a priority. there are ways of bolstering shields with out using more power. We should look into that, perhaps if the science department collected some sirillium with the ramscoops, we could use it to increase shield efficiency temporarily before a conflict, or perhaps science or engineering could offer other solutions." she said. (Reply Lt Jackson) "Photons only require a small amount of power to launch, but being as we only have a limited quantity, and no sure method of replenishing before we escape, we will have to ration their usage. Also, if needs become dire, photons have small quantities of antimatter and deuterium to create the charge. Those resources can be utilized for a small quantity of warp fuel." she said. (Reply Lt Jackson) "You are right phasers are where we will be gaining the most power reserves. We can cut the phaser power by half because the Rosenante has phaser arc redundancies. Any one point can be covered by at least two phasers. If we close down phasers so that only crucial arcs are covered by two phasers and other angles are only singly covered." she said, "With me so far?" (Reply Lt Jackson) "Well I believe the crucial arcs are ninety degrees XY and seventy Z to the fore and forty-five XY by ninety Z over both nacelles port and starboard. While responding to an apparent Distress signal belonging to a lost federation Starship the Epiphany, we encountered some sort of massive vessel. This ship, despite all our attempts to establish contact with their crew and discover the fate of the Epiphany, captured us first in some sort of exceptionally powerful tractor beam and then miraculously transported the entire ship and crew inside a massive internal compartment within the confines of the vessel. The volume of this compartment is staggering, and it is filled with hundreds of starship's in various stages of deconstruction. Some appear to have been cannibalized while others appear to have simply failed in their operation. Upon arriving into this area, which I have dubbed the bone yard, we were attacked by three small raider vessels, roughly the same size as a federation fighter craft. These vessels did some minor damage, but acted as a very effective distraction while some unknown species sent raiding parties aboard the Rosenante. These raiders did not seem determined to capture the ship. Instead they seemed to focus on capturing supplies from some of our cargo holds as well as acquiring some minor pieces of everyday equipment, including some phasers and PADDS. With the exception of a few deaths among the crew, whose bodies they beamed off the ship, the raiders did very little actual damage. Sullivan was able to destroy two of the raider ships and drive off the third. Thus far we have only a few organic samples and some first hand descriptions to work with, in our attempts to determine who these mysterious raiders are. We have good reason to believe that there is another faction or factions here within the bone yard as well, as we intercepted a communication that indicated some sort of alliance. It is reasonable to believe that this other faction or factions could be potential allies to us, and that we may be able to learn more about our circumstances if we make contact with them. So Far all our hails have gone unanswered and so for the moment we are waiting for something to change so that we can make contact. In the mean time, the crew is in dire need of rest, since they have been working around the clock for the last couple of days to complete repairs caused by the subspace bubble that we encountered. On the bright side of things, we are no longer in danger of encountering any other Subspace phenomenon that could destroy the ship. The flip side, of course, is that we are in a place that may prove to be impossible to escape. Only time and investigation can help us out of our current predicament. ~End Log. Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (U.S.S. Rosenante - Deck 1 - Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - 1531) Tom slowly realized that he and his shipmates were actually inside another vessel or container of some type. His readings were bizarre to say the least. His mind raced. He had never heard of such avast ship able to contain a starship. Tom scanned the Federation ship registry and noted it was the Epiphany. Jackson noted several vessels inside this 'container'. Almost as if this were a salvage yard. Addressing the Captain, "Sir, readings indicate that several vessels have within sensor range. One Federation design - the Epiphany - a Nova Class starship, some I am not familiar with" Tom reported. (reply: captain, anyone) Tom;s face scowled as he further looked at his data. ~Hmm, some of the ships show lifeforms! he thought. (reply: any on bridge) (posted by Bill W.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 3- 1533) It seemed that the last of the borders had either been dealt with or they had transported off the Rosenante. For a moment, Ahmed allowed himself to release some of the tension in his shoulders as he shifted gears to something other than the boarding action that had finally ended. "Captain, we are being hailed." "By whom?" he asked. "I'm not certain, Sir. But they are using a Starfleet standard encryption on Starfleet frequency 4107." Ahmed glanced back at Sullivan. "Can you verify that Mister Sullivan?" (reply T'Larah) Ahmed nodded, "well, lets see who we're talking to, shall we?" he said, just as the doors to the Bridge were opening and Caskie and Nayati were returning from their counter boarding actions on deck three. The screen shifted as the channel was connected. A lovely Human woman with long braided Brunette hair appeared on the screen. She was dressed in rich blue flowing robes. =^=Hello Captain,=^= she said smiling, =^=My name is Ensign Anna Morgan, formerly an engineer aboard the USS Epiphany. I have been asked to act as ambassador on the behalf of the Nechani and their allies, and to open a dialog with you, sir.=^= Ahmed stood. After all these years, there were still members of the Epiphany crew that had survived. "It's good to see you Ensign. My name is captain Ahmed Ibn Salid commanding the USS Rosenante. I would be delighted to speak with you. Would you care to come aboard the Rosenante for a meeting?" She shook her head. "No captain the Nechani and their allies wish to meet you in a neutral location. It's a place that isn't controlled by any of the factions here. We call it Boryzja, roughly translated as the Bastion. We will transmit over coordinates. Please send over a landing party.=^= She paused then asked, =^=What is your ship time?" Ahmed glanced up at the chronometer, "1536 hours, Stardate 2408.04.27." he replied. Morgan seemed to be thinking for a moment. =^=Send the landing party over at 1630 hours, captain. We will notify our allies, so that they may send a representative as well if they choose.=^= "We'll be there." Ahmed replied. Morgan nodded, then the screen returned to the image of the Bone Yard as the channel was closed. Ahmed thought for a second before speaking. "Mister Caskie, take Nayati, Sullivan, Raschen, Jackson, Weaver, and T'Kron with you and attend this diplomatic meeting. Make any preparations you require for the security of the away team. Pull a crew manifest for the Epiphany and verify if there was an Ensign Anna Morgan serving aboard. Between scans of his readouts. Tom was watching the actions of the Captain and Lt Sullivan. It seemed that they had been hailed by unknown persons using standard starfleet frequencies. This was most odd. Jackson listened as the incoming call began. It seems that there was a survivor of the USS Epiphany calling. Captain Salid spoke to the Ensign represented on the screen. Seems the Ensign, named Anna Morgan, was a spokesperson for some beings called the Nechani. Apparently these Nechani and others controlled this vessel they were contained in. Jackson was startled when the Co asked him to part of the AWAY Team. AS Ahmed issued his instructions, Tom made a copy of the USS Epiphany and loaded into his padd. "Commander, I have the roster for the Epiphany and there is a Ensign Anna Morgan listed" Jackson reported. T'Larah checked the frequency, and the encryption, both verified. "It's and older code, sir but it checks out, I was about to clear them." she said in response about her findings. Ahmed nodded, "well, lets see who we're talking to, shall we?" As the FO and 3O came on the bridge the signal connected and the image of the bone yard was replaced by a human woman with dark braided hair, and a deep blue flowing robes. =^=Hello Captain,=^= she said smiling, =^=My name is Ensign Anna Morgan, formerly an engineer aboard the USS Epiphany. I have been asked to act as ambassador on the behalf of the Nechani and their allies, and to open a dialog with you, sir.=^= As the Captain stood, T'Larah wondered how many more of the crew of the Epiphany had survived the ordeal. "It's good to see you Ensign. My name is captain Ahmed Ibn Salid commanding the USS Rosenante. I would be delighted to speak with you. Would you care to come aboard the Rosenante for a meeting?" he graciously offered his vessel's hospitality. When Josh began her personal conversation with the Captain, as soon as T'Larah realized it was personal, from the waves of emotion coming of the first officer, T'Larah blocked the conversations out. ~She's obviously concerned about rumors I will not fuel them. If she wished to speak to me about it she would, and she appears emotionally stable.~ "1620, Transporter Room One gentlemen. Josh hung back from taking her seat, not wanting to be seen as yet and listened to the conversation. =^=Hello Captain,=^= she said smiling, =^=My name is Ensign Anna Morgan, formerly an engineer aboard the USS Epiphany. I have been asked to act as ambassador on the behalf of the Nechani and their allies, and to open a dialog with you, sir.=^= Josh shivered and closed her eyes for a moment trying to stay calm. ~Oh dear lord. So the 'Pip' is here after all.~ Opening here eyes she listened to the rest of the conversation silently and only moved to take her seat beside the Captain when the channel had been closed. Also have Maddox conduct some detailed scans of the landing coordinates, Let's be sure you know exactly what you're getting into as far as the location is concerned." Josh closed her eyes again, swallowed and took a deep breath. "It's not necessary to pull the manifest Sir. I am familiar with Ensign Morgan. Of course without a full DNA scan I can't be certain, but, although she is older, she certainly resembles the woman I knew." (Reply Salid iyw) Knowing that she wasn't simply going to get away with this small bit of information Josh took another deep breath before continuing. "Ensign Morgan and my husband were in the same graduation class at the Academy." Another deep breath, and Josh knew she really didn't want to say what had to be said next, at least not in front of the entire bridge compliment, but she knew that as soon as she met Anna again the entire away team would know anyway and, because of the usual ship's scuttlebut, half an hour after they were back the entire ship would know. "I knew Anna because of that and both Ensign Morgan and my husband were posted to the Epiphany three months before the ship was declared missing Sir." (Reply Salid iyw) Not waiting for a reply and not even looking up since she didn't really want to meet anybody's eyes at present Josh busied herself by accessing the co-ordinates for the meeting, sending them to Maddox and asking him to perform a detailed scan of the area and to send his findings to both the Bridge and to the away team members. (Reply Maddox) Tapping her comm badge she contacted those members of staff not on the bridge. =/\= Caskie to Raschen, Weaver and T'Kron. "How is it you know her, exactly?" He asked. "Ensign Morgan and my husband were in the same graduation class at the Academy." she replied, then paused as if the next portion was difficult for her to say aloud, "I knew Anna because of that and both Ensign Morgan and my husband were posted to the Epiphany three months before the ship was declared missing Sir." Caskie turned her attention to her command console. he could tell that this was difficult moment for her and that focusing her attentions on the command console was a means to allow her a moment to regain any control that she might have lost with the admission. Ahmed turned back to look at the main view screen. There were possibly hundreds of starships form an unknown number of species, in various states of repair out there. Among them was the Epiphany. Those people were more to the Rosenante crew than just countrymen and fellow explorers. They were spouses and long lost friends as well. "We'll do everything we can to find out what happened to him, Jennifer." Ahmed whispered quietly to her, "I promise." Caskie took a deep breath, regained her composure and tapped her commbadge, "Caskie to Raschen, Weaver and T'Kron. Hold position for the moment. If we find her, I want you to have detailed scans performed." (reply Sullivan) "Mister Caskie, you're with me." She pulled from the lateral and tactical sensors and even the long range sensors with a little tweaking to get an idea of what was in the sphere. She searced for the alloys found in the Epiphany, chances were she would get fewer hits with that then searching all ships speeding the finding of the vessel. He pulled up the crew manifest from the Federation records and there indeed was a USS Epiphany with an Ensign on board. Tom was about to announce he had confirmed that there was an Ensign Morgan on-board when the First Officer spoke and alerted the CO. Tom was curious but knew better than to ask further. The captain issued orders for an AWAY team and he was named to it. Tom acknowledged his assignment and prepared to turn over the console. He summoned Chief Sheridan and instructed him what he wanted done. "Sir", Sheridan asked isn't this a bit risky?". Tom had been keeping his senior NCO updated. "Yes Chief it is risky, but I don;t see any other choice. We are in something we have no clue about and we need information" Tom added. Chief Sheridan liked and respected his boss. Tom Jackson was like the son he never had. The chief sighed wearily and took over the console. Jackson left to prepare for the mission. Certainly, they had served together before she had been promoted to first officer, but their actual encounters prior to her appointment as his First Officer had been entirely operational. It was difficult to learn about someone when you never tried to be personal with them. Please assemble in Transporter Room 1 no later that 1620 for an away team briefing and mission to meet several other species who have been trapped here too. Mr Raschen, given our present circumstances please organise whatever security you feel necessary under the circumstances. =/\= Dorian got the message as he was leaning over PO2 Lakshmi Singh's console. She had tried to map out the jumble of ships inside the sphere and speculate as to their various levels of disrepair. She was tie-ing all of her data into the xeno-culture database that was available on the ship. A lot of matches were tentative only, and this spurred him on. They had a golden opportunity to study and learn so much from the vessels enclosed inside this sphere. Who knew how much technology they could discover, and how ancient some of those hulks might be. The historian in him felt humbled by the scene. He had calibrated a screen to render it's data in a visual format, enhancing the low light conditions to give him a stunning view of the graveyard. "Sure thing, boss, I'll be there." Though he would have much rather led a team into the tangle of ships, taking samples and studying. Quite a few kilometers away, he could make out what seemed to be a kilometers long cruiser. He could barely fathom the resources it must have taken to create and run such a behemoth. And yet they were stuck inside something much, much larger. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room- FO - Lt Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 3- 1544) Josh followed the Captain into his ready room and sitting down in the chair he directed her to, she too a deep breath and began speaking. "Sir, I wonder if perhaps, given the circumstances I might be the wrong person to lead this away mission. I have to admit that my objectivity regarding the Epiphany should at least be called into question since I have a personal connection to the that ship and our seeming liason with the other species here." (Reply Salid) "I want to find out what happened to the 'Pip' just as much as you do. but I am not sure I can be objective in this Sir since this is too close to home for me." (Reply Salid) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room- CO - Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 3- 1545) "Sir, I wonder if perhaps, given the circumstances I might be the wrong person to lead this away mission. I have to admit that my objectivity regarding the Epiphany should at least be called into question since I have a personal connection to the that ship and our seeming liaison with the other species here." Caskie confided. Ahmed regarded her for a moment, trying to place himself in her shoes. It wasn't something that he could really accomplish considering her complex history. "I'd say I agree with you Commander, but I don't. This away mission isn't about discovering the fate of the Epiphany, yet. It's about taking stock of the situation that we find ourselves in. It's about making a favorable first contact with these Nechani and anyone that they consider their allies and hopefully beginning to understand exactly what we're facing. it's about getting some answers to some very important questions. Before the fate of the 'Pip' is a consideration, we have to take into account the situation that the Rose is in first. I want to know what happened to the Epiphany and her crew. But I need to know more about where we are and what dangers we may be facing before I investigate the Epiphany and her crew." he explained to her. "I want to find out what happened to the 'Pip' just as much as you do, but I am not sure I can be objective in this Sir since this is too close to home for me." He nodded. "I understand; at least as much as I can from my own personal experience. But I need you to be there. I need your leadership and expertise. I need your judgment in dealing with these new species. I need you to go because Ensign Morgan is there and she may be able to establish a level of trust with you that may afford us some sort of advantage somewhere down the line. You're reluctance to want to carry out your duty because of your personal stake proves that you're the right person for the job. I wouldn't have selected you if I didn't think that you'd not be up to the task, regardless of your personal history. I trust you to make the right decision despite whatever emotional scars you may have from this." He replied. "I need your help now, Jennifer. Can I count on you?" he asked. (Reply Caskie) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 10, Transporter Room 1 - aCSO Ensign Dorian Weaver - Day 3- 1617) Walking the hallway leading to Transporter Room 1, Dorian felt definitely less confident than the last time he had done so. For some reason, he doubted that he would have Ava St-Jean leaning over him to make sure he didn't get hurt. The phaser on his hip felt just as unnatural, and so he leaned on his sensor pack instead of having to touch it. He sure hoped he wasn't late. He'd hate to disappoint the new First Officer. (Reply any, start ze briefing) (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ( USS Rosenante - Transporter Room - 1618 hours) Tom entered the transporter room and took a position near the back. This was his first AWAY mission on the Rose. He was a tad nervous. Tom re-checked his gear and was glad he had added a first aid bit to his equipment. T.J. greeted those that we there and stood back to await the briefing by the FO. (reply: Any present) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (NSS Oracle's Tears, Prayer Chamber, Haruspex Ji'yala- 1619) Ji'yala walked into the prayer chamber with her white robes of position swirling around her. The tiny bells sewn into the robes hems sang softly as she walked giving an almost imperceptible chorus of sound. Mi'haya moved past her, pressing the button that would cause the double doors to part. Unlike her guests, she entered the chamber from the rear, rather than the front. this gave her the opportunity to observe from behind the stand of the voice for a few moments before making her appearance. from her partially concealed position she noted who had already arrived and who had not yet appeared. She noted the Sky Spirit leader, Nekawana standing alongside his daughter and heir to the tribe Chaska. Then there was the Kobali Provost Qamda. he was not alone, in fact, he had brought a few security personnel. While not technically a member of the alliance, he was an inhabitant of the Bone Yard, and unlike the Hur'q, it was possible to reason with him, even when they disagreed on a few things. The Hur'q on the other hand knew and understood only conquest and violence. They were godless creatures, who only sowed chaos and destruction wherever they chose to go. Ji'yala wondered why First Hunter Dash had not yet arrived. No doubt with his vessel in such need of repair there had been a technical problem that had caused his delay. Ji'yala turned to Mi'haya and Acolyte Engineer Morgan, her new ambassador. "It always amuses me so, to see how they stand away from each other despite the fact that we are all here for the same purpose." she commented with a shake of her head. "It is a sorrowful thing really, to see that your allies do not like the presence of others enough to share the same air with them." Mi'haya smiled and replied, "They are the Kobali, can you really blame them?" Morgan added, "They certainly creep ME out." Ji'yala turned to regard the newly minted Ambassador, "Remember the tenants of perseverance, and all shall be well." Then she sighed, "I suppose we should make an appearance." Mi'haya nodded and the three of them stepped into the chamber.
