I want you to draw me a picture of it." "I'm not much of an artist, but I'll certainly try." Diara replied. A moment later a stylus and a magnetic PADD appeared in her lap. Diara gave the memory some thought then she picked up the stylus. She started drawing. Normally she'd make a disclaimer about how terrible the artistic rendition was, but it was a simple geometric grid and was therefore not very difficult for her to replicate. She finished plotting it out and then handed the padd to O'Banyan after docking the stylus. "That's it for the most part." she replied. "It was on one of his arms, I really can't remember which one." (reply O'Banyan) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Torven III Xanadu Gothos, Throne Room Doyle Dogface O'Banyan -1412) Slave....no, Ambassador Rhone finished reproducing the tattoo of the Orion male that had abducted her. O'Banyan was trying to get his mind around the idea that this was an Amabssodor and not a slave. Handing the drawing to O'Banyan, Diara Rhone said, "That's it for the most part. It was on one of his arms. I really can't remember which one." Taking the holopadd from Ambassador Rhone, O'Banyan said a few words that were terribly uncivil and impolite to his involuntary Deltan guest when he saw the grid-web tattoo that she had drawn. "Lagmar," O'Banyan hissed spitefully under his breath. "That slimy green petaq is Queen Morella's prized procurers of flesh, Diara. Just like his female boss Morella, Lagmar is a real monster too. The fact that your virtue is still intact indicates that Queen Morella must have paid him top latinum to leave you alone. That's not Lagmar's usual style, believe me. He's definitely a hands on kind of slaver." (Reply Diara Rhone) "The hatred between Morella and myself goes back at least a decade. She sees me as a potential threat to her to empire in Orion Space. Obviously this is her way of setting me up for something else that she's either already done or is planning to do." (Reply Diara Rhone) (Posted by Jim McCrary) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Torven III – Xanadu Gothos, Throne room – Ambassador Diara Rhone – 1414) O'Banyan took the pad from her and regarded it for a moment. She could clearly see the agitation growing on his face. He's definitely a hands on kind of slaver." "Sounds like a lovely chap." she replied sarcastically. "And who is Morella and what does she want with me or you as the case may be? "The hatred between Morella and myself goes back at least a decade. She sees me as a potential threat to her to empire in Orion Space. Obviously this is her way of setting me up for something else that she's either already done or is planning to do." "Obviously. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that there is a Federation ship on its way to see you?" (reply O'Banyan) "Then it seems that you and I are allies, mister O'Banyan. After all the enemy of my enemy is my friend seems to apply." Diara added. (reply O'Banyan) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Observation Lounge ACEO- Lt. Steven Matrix - 1430) "Mister Matrix, I want you to conduct a detailed inspection of all ship critical systems. I want you to look for anything that might be of concern to us. Signs of tampering, sabotage, or anything else that could compromise us while we are here." Matrix looked intently at the Captain, "Aye sir. May I assume we can take any measures necessary to ensure complete analysis?" (Reply Salid) "My concern is that simple scanning may not reveal hidden dangers or information. I would like permission to disassemble anything my engineering teams feel necessary." replied Matrix. (Reply Salid) "Mister T'Kron, I want you to see if you can get your hands on the technical schematics for those inhibitors that were employed. I'd like to know if there is any way they could have been shut down from an outside source without internal assistance. Also, I want you to take a look at know Orion Transporter technology and see if the inhibitors could be easily by-passed. " (reply T'Kron) "Once both you and Matrix are free I'll have some modifications to the ship's main phaser arrays I'd like done as well. I'll have that information provided to you soon enough." Matrix replied with an enthusiastic resolve, "Aye Sir, my pleasure." (Reply any, none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Observation Lounge – CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 1444) Once the rest of the officers had filed out of the room, the captain turned to Chance. "So Mister Raschen, let me in on your ruminations earlier. What did you hear that caught your attention? And specifically what were you mumbling about?" Raschen sat down at the table. He looked nervous. He started pulling up information on the monitor in front of him. Ahmed turned to his monitor as well. “Sir, please keep in mind that I have not always been a good man, nor have I always been a brigand. I have always jumped back and forth across that line depending on the circumstances however; but there are certain things that even a scoundrel like me would never do.” "I'm banking on that truth Mister Raschen, otherwise I assure you that I would have never considered you for your current position." Ahmed stated. “Slargg is an inherent coward. By that I mean that he only attacks unarmed vessels if it's his ship ‘hunting’ alone; but if part of a group, he would make sure that his ship could escape during an engagement and return later for all the illegal salvage he could get right after the battle.” "Okay," Ahmed replied nodding, "continue." “Well sir, Lagmar is the complete opposite; he never wanted to be a ship’s captain because he felt the responsibility would interfere with his fun and games.” "What sort of fun and games?" Charlie pursed his lips and said, “Well sir, Lagmar was once a sentient intelligence collector up until about 9 years ago and is one of the sickest sadists I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He gets off on torturing people, not raping them, just torturing and beating them to death; and it never seemed to matter the age, gender, or race of his target.” "Sounds like a regular gem," Ahmed replied sarcastically. Raschen took a deep breath, “The last time I had come across Slargg and Lagmar was about a year and a half before I started classes at the academy. I was contracted to provide an armed escort for a Luxury Cruise Liner; the only bad part of the deal was I only got paid once the vessel made it safely to its port-o-call." "I was keeping my ship, an old Siva-class Destroyer code named ‘Cobalt Cavalier’, under the keel of the liner when Slargg’s ship attacked the liner from above knocking out what little shields it had. As I brought my ship up and around to engage Slargg’s ship, Lagmar and his boarding party had already beamed over to the liner and started robbing and what-not.” Ahmed nodded, "I follow you so far. Continue." (reply Raschen) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Personal Quarters-Trebin- Kohmas Dahl-1503) Kohmas sat in the oversized chair in his quarters after the interview. He had been considering with some trepidation what the Admiral had told him about being too forthcoming with the Federation Officers. The Trebin had been honest and had not even attempted to be evasive. Yet somehow he still had a feeling that he had done something wrong, although he had been unable to put his finger on it. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door chime, and before he had a chance to consider it, he had bid the caller to enter. When the door opened, T'Kron the Vulcan engineer entered, holding a PADD. the Vulcan stepped toward him. "Kohmas Dahl, I have a series questions for you. The answers may prove fruitful in helping to locate Prince Angkor Kahmal. I trust that you will not mind me asking them?" Kohmas shook his head. "No of course not." he replied. "Can I get you something while we talk?" he added gesturing towards the replicator in the room. The Vulcan dismissed his suggestion and immediately began taking notes on his PADD, "Do you know when the newer model of transporter inhibitors on the Prince's ship were installed and who manufactured them?" asked T'Kron. "They were present before that ship was selected to be the Prince's personal conveyance. All the older ship's have been scheduled to be upgraded. As to whom manufactured them..." he shrugged, "I have no idea, but I know that they are imported, we have never developed transporter or inhibitor technology of our own. The models that we use are based on current Orion design which as I understand it comes from any number of places. The military buys the units from Orion traders." "Were any of the units being repaired or receiving maintenance before or around the time of the attack?" asked T'Kron. "And do you know who was in charge of keeping them in good repair?" Kohmas scrunched up his face as he thought. "I'd imagine so. They require constant maintenance and upkeep. They're not very reliable models. I believe that a technician was assigned to maintain them daily. That technician was a member of the ship's crew." (reply T'Kron) (Posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarter Engineer Ensign T'Kron -1505) "Were any of the units being repaired or receiving maintenance before or around the time of the attack?" asked T'Kron. "And do you know who was in charge of keeping them in good repair?" Kohmas scrunched up his face as he thought. "I'd imagine so. They require constant maintenance and upkeep. They're not very reliable models. I believe that a technician was assigned to maintain them daily. That technician was a member of the ship's crew." T'Kron sat down near Kohmas Dahl in an effort to help keep his questioning on a more friendly level. He noted all of the facts that Trebin Dahl stated on his PADD and was studying the data thoughtfully. Much of what Mr. Dahl had told him was all pointing to a traitor within the established military. Looking up he asked, "Can you give me the name of the technician who was assigned the job of transporter inhibitor maintenance?" (Reply Kohmas Dahl, Any) Nodding at the answer, and noting it on his PADD as well, T'kron asked, "Who in your military would be in charge of purchasing equipment that you do not yourselves manufacture?" (Reply Kohmas Dahl, Any) "I respect your candor," said T'Kron. "Has anyone tried to tell you in any way to not explain details or otherwise confuse the accounts of what may have happened during the attack on the Prince's ship for any reason and if so, what is the identity of this person or persons?" (Reply Kohmas Dahl, Any) "Do you have any other details that could prove helpful? Was there anything that you saw or heard a day or so prior to the attack? Anything such as messages received or sent to Orion Space or to or from known Orion traders?" questioned T'Kron. (Reply Kohmas Dahl, Any) (Posted by Sheila Mayer) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Personal Quarters-Trebin- Kohmas Dahl-1508) The Vulcan looked at him and asked, "Can you give me the name of the technician who was assigned the job of transporter inhibitor maintenance?" "I would but I don't know it. That information was classified well beyond my security clearance. I never saw the technician in question." Kohmas replied honestly. Nodding at the answer, and noting it on his PADD as well, T'kron asked, "Who in your military would be in charge of purchasing equipment that you do not yourselves manufacture?" "That authority rests with the senior commanders. For the fleet that would be Admiral Krakos. But I doubt he'll have much to say to you on the matter." "I respect your candor," said T'Kron. "Has anyone tried to tell you in any way to not explain details or otherwise confuse the accounts of what may have happened during the attack on the Prince's ship for any reason and if so, what is the identity of this person or persons?" Kohmas shifted uneasily in his seat. ~How should I answer that question?~ the wondered and then decided to follow his instinct and just be truthful. "Yes, I have been told to watch what I would say to you and your fellow officers. I was told to be very discreet. This suggestion came from admiral Krakos himself." "Do you have any other details that could prove helpful? Was there anything that you saw or heard a day or so prior to the attack? Anything such as messages received or sent to Orion Space or to or from known Orion traders?" questioned T'Kron. "Not that I recall, but if I think of anything I will certainly let you know." he said. "I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, Ensign T'Kron." (Reply T'Kron, Any) (Posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters of Kohmas Dahl Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 1509) T'Kron stood up and said, "On the contrary Trebin Dahl, you have been of immense assistance. Thank you. I will so note your forthrightness and aid in my report to the Captain." (Reply Kohmas Dahl IYW) T'Kron nodded politely and left Trebin Dahl's quarters. He went back to his quarters to write up his report. (Reply Any) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters of T'Kron Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 1513) Reaching his personal quarters, T'Kron compiled his report based on what the design specifications indicated and the answers to his questions he had posed to Trebin Kohmas Dahl. Looking through his notes, T'Kron noted that the design specifications showed substandard materials. He suspected the transporter inhibitors were planned obsolescence to not function well at all. T'Kron thought about who would lose the most if the war between the Arturian and Meldovian people ended and who would gain the most if the fighting continued. It all kept pointing in one direction and T'Kron began to work up a number of possible suspects as a list for the Captain to consider. It took little time to work up the requested report. He saved it in the computer, kept a copy for himself and sent the report to Captain Salid. (Reply Any) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Counsellors Office - Counsellor, Ens. Sally Trent - 1648) It was getting close to the time of the appointment that Sally had set for the Captains personal favour. The Senior Chief Petty Officer would be arriving soon, well at least she had expected him to be arriving soon. She had given the first meeting allot of thought as she usually did and had laid out some well known 'snacks' on the table infront of her, a nice jug of ice cold water was also in the middle of the table with two cups; she had already filled her cup with water and had began drinking from it. Her chair was at an angle to the chair she was to offer Sheridan and the table directly in front of both of them, she had a padd in hand which she had set to record her conversation with Sheridan has it moved through the hour they had. She had recalled everything she could remember on Post Dramatic Stress Syndrome and was quite ready to combat it with the officer. She quickly noted some pre-meeting notes and then awaited the mans arrival. Seeing an Ensign siting at a table, Phil stood before the officer and asked "Ensign Trent?" and waited for a reply. (reply: Ensign Trent) "Sr Chief Petty Officer Sheridan reporting as ordered" and stood at attention. I promised you I would protect you." Giving him a comforting hug as she asked, "do I know the people you are talking about?" "Nodel does not know." he replied with some uncertainty "Can you tell me what you overheard?" "Nodel hear voices one Nodel hears before and one Nodel hears for the first time. Voices are talking about a plan and drinking and being rich and famous." the small being paused and looked at Ro' expectantly. "Nodel was going to see voice but Nodel is startled by Human woman there. When Nodel look back, bodies for voices are gone. Nodel did hear one voice when he was on Slave Planet. When Nodel tell Ro' that nice Meldovian give Nodel food. Then Voice was on computer. Now though Nodel think it not on computer." (reply Ro'Dal) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters - Ro'Dal - 1757) After assuring Nodel that she was not angry with him and asking him to calm down and talk slower, she asked him if he knew the people he was talking about, to which he replied uncertainly the he didn't know. "Can you tell me what you overheard?" The Takaran asked gently. Nodel replied that he had heard one voice before, obviously the one that had him in such an aggitated state, and the other he heard for the first time and that the were talking about a plan and drinking and being rich and famous. He paused and looked at Ro' expectantly before continuing, telling her that he was going to see who the voices belonged to, but that he'd been startled by a Human woman. When he'd looked again the people were gone. ".....Nodel did hear one voice when he was on Slave Planet. When Nodel tell Ro' that nice Meldovian give Nodel food. Then Voice was on computer. Now though Nodel think it not on computer." Ro' gave a thoughtful nod in agreement, "I doubt highly that the voice was on a computer, our computer has a female voice, nor do I think anyone, especially a civilian or guest, would use a communicator in ten forward, it would attract attention." Absentmindedly, Ro'Dal stroked his soft fur as she thought about what he had told her. It wasn't unusual for anyone who had been drinking to voice their desire to be rich and famous, she herself had heard some of her crewmates doing so, but Nodel was specific that he had heard one of the voices on the planet Barakos, and on top of that it was a slaver's voice, now *that* was something of concern to the security officer. "It really bothers me that there might be a slaver on board and I think we should definitely investigate further, I believe that it would probably be either one of the Arturians or one of the Meldovians who are guests aboard our ship. As the Prince who was kidnapped by slavers is a Meldovian, then the Arturians, who are their enemies, would be prime suspects..." Pausing and considering what she'd just said, she then continued. "...However, people in high places make enemies even among their own people, so we cannot rule out the Meldovians either." Taking a firmer hold of Nodel, Ro' got up and retrieved her boots and awkwardly wiggled her bare feet into them as her mind worked out the pros and cons of bringing someone else in on this development or not. Her first instinct had been to go straight to Raschen but as she got her boots on she found she had changed her mind. "I should report this to my superiors, Nodel, at least to the aCSO but I find myself reluctant to do so as he is fresh from the Academy and in my eyes inexperienced, also he may not think there is any need to be alarmed." The Takaran sighed heftily. "Therefore I think we should just keep the guests under scrutiny ourselves until such time as we have more evidence to offer." Giving the little being an affectionate squeeze she asked him, "do you think you will be able to help me do that?" He wriggled his way from under the console and looked at the display. ~What on earth~ It took him a slit second to understand what had just happened. ~Some one has deleted the holographic shut down subroutines~ “Computer can you explain for the deletion of the holographic shut down subroutines?” [ Don’t Know ] Robert frowned at what he had heard. “Computer is there a problem with your vocal subroutines.” [Nope] ~This is not right~ Robert began to back track through the computer system to find out what was happening. [Now not so fast our you’ll spoil the fun] “Who are you?” [Why I’m Ramirez] ~What he doing this deep in the main frame he should not be in these system~ He increased his search as he tried to find the allusive program as it moved through the main frame. Robert hurled him self away from the console as it exploded. He landed heavily on the floor by the door which opened as its sensors activated. It wasn't one that Josh had heard all that often, but given that all medical staff had to be aware of what the various alarms on the ship meant, she probably recognised it at around the same time as Mike did. Mike stood up and looked at her. "Someone just fired a phaser on a setting above stun, that's not a good thing at all." Just as he crossed to his bedroom, presumably to get his commbadge the commchanell sounded and he stopped. =^=Sickbay to Doctor Caskie=^= Josh didn't even wait to ask for permission to answer before she crossed to his computer. A phaser fire alarm and a call to the CMO when it was known by her staff that she was off duty mean only one thing. A medical emergency and Josh reacted as any doctor would. Opening a channel she replied. "Caskie here. What's the problem?" =^= We just got an emergency medical call for a team to go the ready room. They're on route, thought you'd want to know.=^= Josh simply nodded, "Thanks for the head up Gita, Let the med team know that I will meet them there. Try and find out how many casualties we have and what the injuries are. I'll be there in under five hopefully. Caskie out." =^=Understood doctor. Sickbay out=^= Josh looked up at Mike and he smiled at her. "I completely understand." he said even though she hadn't said anything to him, "I've had a wonderful time. We should do it again soon." Josh nodded although her mind wasn't really on Mike and she was already crossing towards the door. She spared a second or two to apologise. I am sorry Mike, when you are CMO your life is never truly your own on a ship. But yes, I really enjoyed tonight too and yes, I would love to do it again. Next time I will cook for you I promise, but hopefully without the high drama at the end. I have to go now and I'm pretty sure you have somewhere you need to be too. Take care, bye." Rubbing his eyes and leaning on the table, Matrix thought he had better look at the scan data one more time. "Computer, bring up all available scans and data concerning the...what the hell..." [Please rephrase the question] At that instant the tactical alert graphic appeared on the display Matrix was in front of. The alert graphic indicated phaser fire inside the Captain's ready room. In an instant Matrix tapped out scan request and tapped his comm badge. "Engineering to ....,' Matrix didn't complete his request as another phaser discharge alert appeared on his screen. "Shit!" Matrix bellowed. [Please rephrase the question] "Matrix to security, to the bridge...there is phaser fire in the Captain's ready room. Someone get in there quickly!" shouted Matrix. (Reply Security, Bridge - IYW) A few moments pasted while Matrix reviewed the internal scanners. Within a few more seconds a security alert sounded throughout the ship. "Computer initiate security lock down and intruder alert protocols, authorization Sullivan zero-two-beta-epsilon" The following message resounded through out the ship: [Intruder Alert, General Quarters, all security, tactical and marines report to your stations.] Sullivan bounded to the ready room a pair of Ensigns were already assisting Chief Sheridan to free the Captain. She held her phaser arm straight at the high ready, her non-dominant hand crossed under and her wrist cocked to point the palm beacon light where the phaser was aiming. The doors slowly opened and T'Larah activated the amber flood light. “Mr Sullivan I’ve just had a nasty experience with the Holo-marine program,” he paused, “what’s happened?” asked Ensign Smith as he walked on the bridge. "Stand fast." she ordered him simply, wanting to stand off and wait to check on the captain before she answered his question. "Stand aside." she warned the crew who got the door open wide enough to walk through sideways. Sullivan panned the amber light back and forth accross the ready room and saw the signs of a struggle, not a melee one, but a struggle, keeping silent until she saw a pair of Star Fleet issued foot wear beneath the desk. "Sir is that you?" (Reply Captain Salid) "Good you had us worried for a moment, sir." she turned her head towards some of the bridge crew. "You, you and you secure all enterances, you are to quit your post only when relieved by security or marine personel, is that understood?" "Yes Sir." was the triple reply and they grabbed similarly stowed phasers to Sullivans and went to guard the exits. "Well Smith, look into the holo-projectors see about shutting them down. He was actually kind of surprised that she hadn’t sought him out since his return from Barakos. Holding a data-padd in his hand, he re-read the last message that came in for him Raschen then got up off the couch and went to his desk, and proceeded to type a message that read ‘mgtghasy’. “Computer; using 7th Federation Irregular Forces Group protocol 10624, transmit message to prescribed destination.” Once the computer acknowledged that the transmission was sent “Computer, encode all records of any transmission sent from this station in the last 24 hours, Alpha-Charlie-Sierra 2784147.” After the computer beeped, Chance shut down his terminal. Once the monitor turned off, Raschen noticed a figure with a phaser aimed at him, reflected in the lifeless monitor screen. After he raised his hands, Chance dropped his head so he could see the deck behind his feet and very carefully and slowly stepped away from the terminal. Just then the general alarm sounded. Chance turned and charged toward his assailant in an attempt at knocking the phaser pistol to the deck. Well, it didn’t work; Raschen recognized the being as holo-Marine Ramirez right before being shot in the chest, just below the collarbone by the phaser. Ramirez stood over Chance as he rolled over onto his back. When he looked at the face of the man he just shot, Ramirez started shaking his head “Oh no; Ramirez make big mistake; captain untouchable” and then vanished, phaser and all. Bleeding, Chance got up off the floor and grabbed one of his bowie knives and his disruptor pistol and started running out the door of his quarters. Chance tapped his comm.-badge “This is Raschen calling all security teams to duty. Holo-Marine Ramirez just tried to kill me then vanished. I don’t know who else he has attacked so I want ALL non-crew personnel rounded up and placed in the brig for their protection until he is neutralized. I want Defense fields and armed/ armored guards in place as well. Once those personnel are safe and secure, I want two squads in the engine room and another two on the bridge.” As he continued running down the passageway, Chance saw Ramirez start to attack someone else in a gold uniform. Still angry about being shot, Raschen ran up behind the hologram and stabbed it in the back of the neck. Holo-Ramirez vanished ~didn’t kill him, but felt damn good just the same~ Tapping his badge again “Ro’Dal, this is Raschen. Can you get with Lt Smith, if he has already started deck by deck sweeps, coordinate our efforts with his?” (Reply Ro’Dal) “Copy that and thanks.” (Reply Ro’Dal) (Posted by Charlie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante –Turbolift – ACOPs – Ensign Robert Smith - 1954) He stood their waiting as the turbolift rushed him towards the bridge. It took him a second to realise that he was not falling. He pulled him self off the floor and accessed the turbolift wall console. ~The emergency bulk heads have closed and stopped the turbolift from plummeting through the ship~ He paused as he thought about his predicament. He really needed to get to the bridge and find Sullivan. He was the duty ops manager and maybe he could help. As he opened the roof access and climbed out. He looked up the turbolift shaft. “I really need to do so more exercise.” With that he began to climb the ladder that ran up the side. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – MCO Quarters – MCO- Kenneth ‘SatNav’ Smith - 1955) Kenneth was sitting in a chair with a drink in one hand and an old book in the other. Since getting command of the Rosenante’s marine detachment he had not had lot of time to him self but he enjoyed catching a bit here and a bit there. He flicked over the page of a well thumbed book. He smiled to him self he had read this book so many times that he could recite it word for word. This did not matter thought because it was a good book and he enjoyed reading it. =^=Salid to MCO Smith. Holomarine Ramirez has been compromised and has just tried to execute me in my ready room. Angry at herself that she had not at least carried a comm badge with her so that she would know what was happening she punched the call button again venting at least some of her frustration on the poor ignominious button. When that still produced no visible results Josh ran back to the nearest wall console. "Computer, is there a problem with Turbolift 1?" There was silence for at least thirty seconds and them a comm channel crackled into life. [Sorry Chiqua, no can do with da turbo. You'se just gonna hafta walk like all da rest of us grunts.] ~What!~ "Who's that? Computer reroute the first available turbolift to this floor. Medical Emergency Override Caskie Epsilon Delta 5280." The comm channel gave a hollow laugh and Josh shivered. "Sorry Doc, no can do. Well, I s'pose I could let you get in da lift. Gettin' out again might be tough though." Josh stood there stunned for a moment trying to work out what the heck was going on. It was then that it hit her where she had heard that voice before. "Ramierez, is that you. What in the blue blazes is going on. There is a medical emergency in the Ready Room and I need to get there asap. Can you direct a turbolift my way please." Ramierez laughed again, [Sorry Doctor Cutie, no can do.] Josh tried one final time. "Ramierez someone in the Ready Room has been injured I need to get there as soon as possible. Will you please help me do that." [Hmm..] the voice came back, [.. let me think about dat. Nope, I guess not, not when I went to so much trouble to try ta kill da guy.] Josh, finally realising that Ramierez was part of the problem ran back to the wall panel. Hitting one of the buttons she requested a site to site transport using her medical override. And waited and waited again. Finally a hollow laugh came through the comm. [Nice try Dr Cutie, but it ain't gonna work.] Stuck, she was stuck in a non-descript corridor and that stupid, sorry excuse for a hologram had trapped her there. Josh began looking around her and recognised the access to the Jeffries tube on this level. Sidling towards it she tried to keep Ramierez occupied. "Ramierez you are so gone when I get my hands on your sorry program. I am going to rip your innards out chip by chip and reprogram you until you are nothing more than a waste recycle unit do you hear me you sorry excuse for a hologram. My EMH is a bigger program than you will ever be." Climbing up the Jeffries tube all the while waiting for something horrible to happen, Josh was surprised when she got to the top of the ladder and nothing bad had happened. Not wanting to push her luck she rapped sharply on the cover that accessed the Bridge and when it was removed and various phaser were pointed at her she shouted out who she was. Climbing out of the tube she grabbed the Bridge's medical kit from where it kept and crossed towards the Ready Room. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Main Engineering Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 1958) T'Kron, finishing his routine sweep of the warp core housing, heard the alarm klaxon indicating phaser fire somewhere on the ship. He heard Ensign Matrix shout over the alarm. He began climbing down off of the overhead catwalk in an effort to get to a console down below. Other department personnel began shouting over the noise as well. "Matrix to security, to the bridge...there is phaser fire in the Captain's ready room. Someone get in there quickly!" shouted Ensign Matrix. (Reply Security, Bridge - IYW) A few moments pasted with Matrix checking his console. Within a few more seconds a security alert sounded throughout the ship. "Computer, initiate Alpha-Overloard, Matrix, three-three-five-seven." [Acknowledged] 0.68 seconds later the Alpha-Overload routine initiated. T'Kron was pleased the warp core was protected. Ensign Matrix had added quickly. A force field around their warp core and added security were now in effect. The only way to get through to the warp engines was to use the specific security codes that only the two ACSOs knew. T'Kron had finally reached Ensign Matrix and had pulled out a phaser just in case they were being boarded or certain persons who were suspected accomplices in the attack on the Prince's ship were making some sort of planned move. "Matrix to the Bridge. We're getting some interesting computer activity down here. Can you have..." Ensign Matrix's voice trailed off. There was the sound of a hologram being initiated. A marine appeared wearing combat fatigues. He was holding a phaser and pointing it in their direction. T'Kron shoved Matrix and himself behind a console just in time. A phaser blast seared by them, inches from their heads. "Yous want to play with me? I may win. I is better dan yous." T'Kron presumed the words in the unfamiliar idiom came from the holographic representation. (Reply Steven Matrix) T'Kron leaned forward around the corner of the console and shot out the holographic emitter. The marine in combat fatigues disappeared. "Shoot out all the holographic emitters, Mr. Matrix." (Reply Steven Matrix) Turning just as he heard another hologram initiating, he shot out the emitter from across the room. A few of the other crewmembers began to get the idea and scrambled in an effort to reach the weapons locker. Someone threw a spanner at another, but it hit the tough housing and did little damage. It clanged as it hit the floor adding more noise to the confusion. (Reply Steven Matrix, Any) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante Main Engineering ACEO Lieutenant Steven Matrix - 1958) Matrix had completed the emergency alert programming and was caught up in the rouge hologram issue when T'Kron shoved him behind a console. Dazed Matrix could barely make out what the hologram said. T'Kron handed him a phaser and nodded a mutual 'thank you.' Matrix pulled himself up to look around the console in time to see a phaser blast zip by them. The energy of the shot destroyed the console behind them. It vaporized the tritanium console in a volley of sparks which lit up most of engineering. "Shoot out all the holographic emitters, Mr. Matrix." said T'Kron. Matrix aimed carefully and managed to shoot two of the emitters in the immediate vicinity. More sparks flew and the emergency alert sounded in engineering. The runner lights turned red along the corridor and along the exterior walls of engineering. Blinking every second to indicate a code condition. "T'Kron I got two of the emitters, but I can't see the remaining three. Can you get to them?" yelled Matrix. Matrix heard phaser fire and within moments T'Kron managed to destroy the remaining emitters. Other crew members scrambled to safety, others to the weapons locker. Matrix wondered how they would kill a computer generated hologram. ~Shut it down at the source!~ "Computer, shut down all holo-emitters throughout the ship. Authorization Matrix-alpha two four." bellowed Matrix. The computer gave the knowledge beep and the holo-marine almost stood at attention and proclaimed, "You haven't seen the last of me." and dematerialized. Matrix slowly stood up, "Everyone okay?" She would have preferred him to spend the night in Sickbay. ~Like that will happen~, and Josh knowing that made sure that he would not go into shock and then spoke to him. "Sir, you seem ok and given the circumstances I don't want to confine you to Sickbay, but I do insist however that you do find some time, early tomorrow morning to come see me." (Reply Salid) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, First Officers Office - FO, Lt. Jono Janeway - 2005) Jono had jumped up from his desk immediatley as the security alarm sounded, he had spent most of the afternoon speaking with the Arbiter and discussing the possibility of a traitor within his own team with him. He quickly diagnosed the computer to find out what was going on, he read and re-read all the commands being issued throughout the ship. ~That damn Marine~ he thought to himself, he had never liked the construct atall. He looked up at the flashing lights, "Computer Disable Security Alarm throuhgout the whole ship, Authorisation Janeway-Alpha233451" He said, the alarm went silent. Whoever intiated it didnt seem to have been thinking. Powering up unusued systems while they were in the situation they were in, could be deadly. The Orions could have spotted them. He read Raschens orders to his security team and shrugged slightly, there were no Non-crew personnel on-board apart from the Arbiter and a couple of officials who were all safetly guarded by Marines anyway. ~He'll do what he must~ Jono thought as he let a small smile release when he thought of all the delgates being forced into the Brig. He shook his head and put his mind back on the task. He opened up the Holographic grid and began tracking Holographic activities throughout the ship. The Holomarine was popping up everywhere, but seemingly only attacking those officers or members of the crew which were important enough to do any damage. A thought occured to Jono quickly and he took immediate action, "Computer shut down all Transporter Access on the ship leaving only myself of Captain Salid to re-initate them, Authorisation Janeway-Alpha233451" [Transporters De-activated] The amount of chaos the marine could have rued if he had the transporters on his side, the crew could be dead within seconds. At that moment in time Jono was quite glad he had transport inhibitors around this room and that he had neglected to have Holo-emitters inside the room either. Infact he was sure that was the only reason he hadnt been attacked yet. He moved back to his command console and watched the marine attack more crew. The attacks were getting more callas and un-tactful. ~Hes drawing us out~ He thought as he watched the attacks using the onboard cameras. ~Hes up to something~ "Computer intiate Hallway Force Fields with a rotating Holographic phases" He said. There was a slight hum of the forcefields outside in the hallway. He knew that every couple of metres there would be a forcefield which would deactivate if a crewmember with a comm. badge ran at them. It would be of little hinderance to the Marine as he was a Holograph but he hoped with introducing a Holographic phase with the force fields some of them would deactivate the marine if he tried to run through them.. Depending on what his phase difference was at that moment. ~Fight Fire with Fire~ He thought to himself. "Computer intiate all Holographic Defense Combatants, Program them to disable the Holograph Ramierez" [Combatants Enabled] Again this wouldnt stop the hologram but may been a small hiderance. The holographs looked like normal crew members, if the Marine were to start attacking them instead of actual crewmembers.. It would help. "Computer open a secure channel to the CMO" [Secure Channel Opened] "Dr. Caskie, I'm sure you're aware of our problem by now. Have your medical teams work with Raschens security details. If you watch the camera feeds you will be able to track any injuries you dont know of so far. Good luck, Doctor." (Reply Caskie IYW) Whoever had hacked into the Holographs program had done it with some skill, after a brief look into the sytems he couldnt find much of a trace but there was a faint one, it came from the main computer core. "Janeway to Raschen; Secure Channel" [Channel Opened] "Raschen have once security team head down to the Main Computer Core, once they are there have them report directly to me. Is the Captain Secure?" (Reply Raschen) ~The Arbiter~ "Have a security detail also meet me at the Arbiters personal quarters. I have a feeling he may be on of the Marines targets." (Reply Raschen) "Janeway Out." He tapped his comm. badge and pulled up his weaponary. He quickly replicated a portable anti-holograph emitted and attached it to his arm and then enabled it. ~That should keep him away~ He hoped and then in a sprint; ran out of the room. He wouldnt stop running until he managed to get to the Arbiter, he bellowed orders to those officers he ran past and watched them fluffle around while they hurried to carry out those orders. He reached the Arbiters quarters in little over 10 minutes, navigating around Turbolifts and using Jefferies Tubes just to be safe. The door was locked to the quarters, he pulled out his phasor after trying to unlock it with his codes and then shot the controls. The door sprang open, he walked in silently and instantly saw a terrible mess in the room. What little of the Arbiters personal belongings had been thrown around the floor and the Holomarine was stood over the limp body of the Arbiter. Jono shot him without hesitation and the holograph vanished, he quickly stepped over to the Arbiter and felt for a pulse, there was one... however faint it was... there was one. "Janeway to Sickbay. Medical Emmergency in the Arbiters Personal Quarters. Rush!" (Reply Sickbay IYW) Jono didnt move the man but made sure he was comfortable and safe in the position he was in, only once doing that did he move through the Arbiters quarters... wondering why they were such a mess.. ~Its like someone is trying to convey a message~ He thought to himself, ~But who?~ Only when he stepped into the Arbiters bathroom was he totally mortified. He recognised the man who was lieing on the floor as one of the marines, his arm had been severed by what looked like pure brute force and used to write a message on the wall.. Which was written in a difinitive blood red colour. 'THE PRINCE IS DEAD. YOUR MISSION IS FAILED. WE KNOW YOU ARE HERE. WE KNOW WHO KILLED HIM. YOU WILL PERISH IF YOU DO NOT TURN BACK' Jono took a quick snap shot of the scene and then backed out of the room. He quickly tapped his comm. badge, "Janeway to Captain Salid and Lt. Sullivan; Secure Channel" [Channel Opened] "Captain, Lieutenant. I hope the both of you are well. I am standing in the Arbiters quarters he has been brutally attacked and one of the marines is dead and the Arbiter is un-conscious. It seems our Marine friend has left us a message. Please hurry to the Arbiters quarters. I fear you will want to see this." He said in a very monotonous voice. "Make sure you bring a security force with you, I now know what this hologram is capable of" (Reply either/both) Once he was sure both officers were on their way he tapped his comm. badge and said, "Sciences please have Scientists specialising in Forensics and CSI report to the Artbiters Personal Quarters immediatley, Have them bring what ever equipment they need." =^=They'll be there as soon as possible, Sir.=^= He heard Fiacie say over the comm. link =^=I will accompany them also, If that is necessary?=^= "I think that would be best, Ensign. Janeway out." Jono shook his head and returned his attention to the Arbiter, it struck him that whoever had done this could have been aware of the conversation he and the arbiter had, had that afternoon about a traitor in his team.. were they possibly trying to scare them away from finding the truth about them? It was a question he would have to ask the man when he awoke and find out who he told about their conversation. "Computer intiate a anti-holographic field in this room and do not allow anyone in without my permission. They had attacked the Captain, hoping to instill fear into the crew with his death and then attacked the Arbiter hoping to instil another war between the two factions, whoever was doing this sure had made sure they had all their bases covered.. Unfortunetly for them their plan had failed and niether had died and now the holograph was running around rogue. He needed to be stopped. They couldnt intiate a ship wide anti-holographic field without lighting themselves up on the radar of their enemies, so they needed another way. He had been locked inside his room by the marine guards outside, one of them had stayed inside with him while the other was outside. There was a knocking on the door. "I'm coming to get ya." Was a voice that echoed through the door. It seemed whatever was attacking the ship had go rid of his marine guard outside relativley easy. "Dont think a locked door can stop me!" The voice said, "Just watch" There was a sound inside the Arbiters bathroom of something being smashed. The marine moved forward to the bathroom door and nodded to the arbiter. The door swung open and the marine stepped forward. A stifled cry was emitted from the marine and then there was no more noise from him, however there was allot of noise as this were banged together in the bathroom. The arbiter stepped backwards and began to move backwards slowly. The noise ceased and most of all that scared the Arbtier. He stepped back more frantically and then felt pain, he looked down and saw a knife protruding out of his shoulder. "Who'sa boss now?" The man said from behind him. The vulcan was thrown to agaisnt a wall and his belongings scattered, he ran at the door trying to block out the pain. It was locked. He turned and this time recieved another stab wound, this time in his stomach. "There'sa no point trying to escapeee. I have YOU to myseelf." (Reply none atm) (Posted by Jono) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Deck 11, Turbolift shaft - ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 2008) Dorian had left Maddox in the Science Lab for a few minutes when the general quarters alert had sounded. The quick report he had been able to get from the security officer who had answered his query had set him in motion.. Yet he felt uncomfortable. This was not in his character. Dorian was definitely not a holo-drama action hero. Acting outside of the formal chain of command was not something he relished, but he realized fully that a Science Dept. Ensign was not likely to be listened to at this time. No, people with big guns and lots of pips on their collars were going to be out and about, doing the things they did best. But he knew computers. If his method took too much time, then he'd have only a few irregularities to gloss over. If they failed, he'd probably have to log in quite a few hours to repair the mess he was about to create. He wondered if he even had the authority to accomplish what he had in mind. Physical sabotage was a last resort, but if it meant saving a few lives, then what the hell right? In record time, he had slipped into his harness, had slipped on his route-laying kit and a basic electronics toolkit strapped across his back. He had taken off his boots and slipped on his climbing shoes. The emergency panels in the corridors held enough supplies to get to where he needed to. He grabbed the manual door activators and made for the Turboshaft he kew would take him straight down through the ship. Not even bothering to request a turbolift, he applied the manual activator and forced the door open. He quickly looped his rope into a supporting strut, a basic double-eight knot, tied a cordelette to a strut below deck as a security, slipped both into his mechanical ascender and threw himself down the shaft. His drill in hand, he lowered himself until the cordelette was taught, and he bolted a metal hook inside the shaft, in one of the recesses. Since the duranium was a processed material, the drill made short work of it, he switched to a second cordelette and was down again. ~Sorry, engineering. I'll take them out myself.~ he thought as he assumed any maintenance crew would be appalled by his action. ~This is just a lot quicker than crawling.~ Deck 11. At last. It had taken him less than ten minutes to reach the door that would give him access to the Computer Core. He was a lowly Ensign, and for once this might have served him well. The rogue hologram had not targetted him so far, too busy with other targets. Dorian knew he did not have access to shut down the computer core directly. Wouldn't even want to. Too many systems needed to be regulated by it. But there might just be a way of using the dedicated terminal inside to shut down the primary ODN relays and the Cochrane field generator which allowed it to process information so fast. Hopefully, this would force the computer to shut down some systems, or at the very least slow down the speed with which the hologram was appearing all over the ship. His program size must be quite substantial, and all of this information needed to travel. Cut off the highway, he'd be forced to use the back-country roads. And if that didn't work, then he could always attempt to pull out the chipset that regulated holoprojectors on the ship. That is what they must have been thinking of when they made shock-proof gloves, right? He had to work fast, because the manual activators he had used to reach this far into the bowels of the ship would appear in the security log almost immediately. If Ramirez was aware of this, he only had seconds to minutes to spare. Typing up his sequence into the terminal, he looked over his shoulders to make sure he was still alone. The voice pick-up in the room was now off the ship's network, and linked only to this slave unit. "Computer, set-up a privileged access to Computer Core Protocols. Authorization Weaver Delta Tango. Ahmed Ibn Salid - 2012) The pain was terrible. Ahmed stayed down behind the desk. He had no idea how badly injured he was and the last thing he wanted to do was irritate any injuries. The doors to the ready room slipped open and Ahmed noted the yellow alert alarm. When the doors came open the first thing he heard was Sheridan's voice. "Captain?" "Here. Behind the desk." Ahmed replied. "Sir is that you?" Sullivan asked as she entered. "Yes" he answered, gritting his teeth against the pain. "Good you had us worried for a moment, sir." Sullivan replied. "The Holomarine program just tried to execute me and very nearly succeeded. Notify all the senior crew. Mister Sullivan, the computer is not responding to shut down commands for the holographic grid, someone's been tampering with the central files, get Matrix and T'Kron on it, although keep in mind that whoever modified the marine program also probably considered that we'd try to stop the problem at the source. Notify all the department heads and their assistants." Ahmed ordered. (reply Sullivan) T'Larah turned and immediately issued orders. It was a solid sign that she was a capable officer. Sheridan and two of the junior bridge specialists helped Ahmed to his chair. "Anything sir?" Sullivan asked turning off the beacon and dropping to the low ready. "No Ramirez is gone. He was foiled when the power went off. I think we should consider the computer compromised. " the captain replied. "Mister Sheridan, I want you to make your way to Main Engineering. Inform Lieutenant Matrix and Ensign T'Kron what's happening. Assist them any way you can. They need to keep the core secure at all costs. Tell them that the computer may be compromised and to double check everything." (reply Sheridan) The medical team arrived and pushed their way into the ready room, they started doing their job and Ahmed just kept issuing his orders. "Notify Raschen and Jono, I need them informed and working on this problem. Take the Conn for now and keep your eyes open for any Orion ships that might happen to be conveniently in the area." Doctor Caskie arrived, she looked as if she had undertaken a difficult journey getting here. "Don't trust the comms, use runners. If Ramirez is using his boarding subroutines, he'll try to sow discord by imitating verbal commands from the CO and senior officers." pass the word that commas are from non-critical command communication only. It will slow us down, but we can't take the risk." (reply Sullivan) Ahmed's shoulder was feeling much better now and he felt as if he could continue to command despite his injuries. "Sir," Caskie interjected, "you seem ok and given the circumstances I don't want to confine you to Sickbay, but I do insist however that you do find some time, early tomorrow morning to come see me." Josh she added. "Or I could come find you. Your choice. I'll have no problem tracking you down." "I'll be in to see you as soon as the crisis is handled Doctor, thank you." Ahmed replied. Then came the call for Caskie that there had been an incident in the Arbiter's Quarters. Ahmed sighed, ~Could it get any worse?~ he wondered. Caskie rushed off and Ahmed pulled himself to his feet. He followed Sullivan out onto the bridge. "Take the CONN." he ordered her and pulled out an engineering kit. Within a few minutes he had physically disabled all the holographic emitters on the bridge. T'Larah began issuing the orders that the Captain had indicated, sending Ensign Smith off to Engineering to notify them of the specifics of the difficulty with out using communications, she also took it upon her self to secure the bridge putting enlisted personnel as guards until security personnel arrived. (Reply Ensign Smith) "Anything, sir?" she asked as she lowered her phaser and turned off the glaring amber light. "No Ramirez is gone. He was foiled when the power went off. Inform Lieutenant Matrix and Ensign T'Kron what's happening. Assist them any way you can. They need to keep the core secure at all costs. Tell them that the computer may be compromised and to double check everything." "Ensign Smith, on your way down to Engineering ensure the department heads are informed to use runners, the Captain is absolutely right, we have to consider the communications compromised." she added. The medical team arrived but Ahmed kept issuing orders, at some points it was unclear to whom he was speaking, the crew took it in-stride. "Notify Raschen and Jono, I need them informed and working on this problem. Take the Conn for now and keep your eyes open for any Orion ships that might happen to be conveniently in the area." the Captain stated. It will slow us down, but we can't take the risk." Ahmed warned. "Understood," T'Larah said, with the exceptions of taking the CONN and ordering a radio silence she had already issued those orders but did not point that out, it was a good thing that the two of them were thinking alike for the emergency. The Captain had a short conversation with the Doctor then ordered her to take the CONN. T'Larah sat down and began checking systems to ensure that they were still under cloak and systems were running. The Captain had already begun dismantling the holo-emitters on the bridge. "Sir, perhaps we should seek refuge and find an outside means of cover or concealment, in case the holomarine decides to enlist outside aid in attacking the vessel." T'Larah warned. (Reply Salid) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Bridge- CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid - 2016) Ahmed was working on the last of the emitters on the bridge when he heard Sullivan speaking to him. "Sir, perhaps we should seek refuge and find an outside means of cover or concealment, in case the Holomarine decides to enlist outside aid in attacking the vessel." T'Larah warned. "Make it so, Mister Sullivan, but don't take us too far off course. We're running a tight deadline as it is." Salid replied. Suddenly every single piece of equipment on the bridge sputtered. Every console, light and system shut down. "Report!" Ahmed called as he dropped back down to the deck. A few critical consoles sputtered back to life. "Sir I'm getting no response from the Main Computer core. The Cochran accelerator field seems to have failed." came a reply from the darkened room. "What about the secondary core?" he immediately asked, knowing that the Rosenante was not only no longer stealthed but that all of her critical systems were now non-functional. "The emergency systems are operational, we have life support, gravity and structural integrity fields, almost everything else seems to be off-line." "Get us some emergency lighting and send someone down to main engineering, I need status on the core and I need someone to get the secondary computer core working yesterday." The lights on the bridge flickered back on and the rest of the consoles lit up as well. "Shift power from non-critical areas to the impulse engines. Mister Sullivan get us undercover." "And someone find Lieutenant Janeway and have him routed to the bridge." (reply Sullivan, Engineering, Janeway, Any) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Science Labs - Ensign Andrew Elliot Maddox - 2017) Andrew hadn't even noticed Weaver leaving, they had been working separately for some time, and when he was working on a project, Andrew found that the rest of the world usually melted away. [Intruder Alert, General Quarters, all security, tactical and marines report to your stations.] ~Doesn't apply to me, this is my station and besides, I'm not going anywhere.~ He continued to work at busting the code, his work was starting to become frustrating especially since things like this usually came very easily to him, always had and he still hadn't busted it. He growled momentarily in frustration, he leaned forward and closed his eyes and took a deep breath and tried to calm himself to think more clearly. He felt a pair of hands on his shoulders. "You're very tense Andrew." came a feminine voice, which nearly startled him. ~ I thought I was alone.~ he thought as he opened his eyes and leaned back, it was Ashley Stevensen, the blond haired angel that he was attracted to. Andrew smiled nervously. Ashley began to massage the tension away in his shoulders, "Yous need to learn to relax." she cooed. ~Funny I didn't think she was from the Bronx.~ A few minutes later Andrew felt very relaxed Ashley stopped. "You know Andrew, I found that flower you left, that was so sweet of you, I came to thank you." she said smiling. Andrew turned to her, "Oh and how are you going to do that?" he asked. She answered by leaning over his chair and kissing him passionately on the lips. Their embrace lasted for several seconds, and Andrew opened his eyes and it wasn't Ashley it was a man dressed in a Starfleet Marines uniform who then spoke with the accent he had noticed earlier. "Youse been messin around wit' da boss' stuff." he growled, "He sent me to stop yah." Still over Andrew the Marine pushed down with considerable force which up-ended the chair, and sent the young science officer sprawling supine, and knocked the wind out of him. "I figure, I can have some fun wit' yah first." he said laughing. Andrew's spine screamed in pain from the sudden impact on the ground, he mustered the effort to scamper away behind a console. "Don't worry, it wasn't me, little holo program someone picked up in Risa, made to look like that little pretty. It's amazing what you know when you can listen everywhere at once. You can run little man but you can't hide." the Marine taunted. Andrew's breaths were already labored, he struggled to think about what to do. ~What does he mean he can listen everywhere? Wait, his breath, he had none, hologram! he thought as he scrambled across the room towards another work bench. The holomarine materialized a phaser rifle in his hand and took aim at the moving target. "Dis like shooting at da carnevals at Coney Island!" he shouted in glee firing randomly at Maddox making it into a sport. He sprinted. Orange death beams narrowly missed him as he dived and grabbed a phaser from a compartment, another console exploded in a shower of sparks. He popped up and pointed the phaser out and the holomarine wasn't there. Maddox felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned the marine knocked the phaser out of his hand with little effort. "What are you tryin' to do, kill me? I don't have da tim' fo' dis." he said as he knocked Andrew to the ground with a front kick. "Say g'nite, Nancy-boy!" he said as he brought the rifle up and then down with a butt-stroke to Andrew's jaw with a thud. Andrew's entire body relaxed as he went unconscious. (reply any or none) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - 2O/CTAC - Lieutenant T'Larah Sullivan - 2018) "Shift power from non-critical areas to the impulse engines. Mister Sullivan get us undercover," said the Captain, "and someone find Lieutenant Janeway and have him routed to the bridge." The enlisted man hopped to smartly. "Bring a phaser." T'Larah warned before addressing the helm the bridge, "I need sensors." she said. "I can have them up in a few minutes." came the meek reply. "We don't have a few minutes, I needed them up ninety seconds ago." she demanded. "I will have them up soon, sir." came the louder response as he redoubled his efforts. Five seconds later the response came. "Got it!" the voice exclaimed. T'Larah reviewed the sensor data. "Helm set course zero-seven-fife mark tree seven, full impulse." she said. "Aye sir. Course set." the helm responded. "Engage." When the helm officer pressed the console key that initiated the movement of the vessel. Acceleration was felt through out the ship. ~The reset must have effected the inertial dampers as well.~ "Helm, reduce speed to three quarters impulse, Ops take remaining power put it into inertial dampers." A simultaneous "Aye." was heard and the ride got a little smoother. "Ops, scan the asteroid belt, what is it's composition?" T'Larah asked. "Scanning, Iron ore, Kelbonite, Fistrium, some trace minerals." the Ops responded. "That will do nicely, Helm, set a course, bring us carefully to the middle of that field, make speed one quarter impulse to the field then put all impulse power to inertial dampers, SIF, and navigational deflectors and navigate thrusters only." she said "Aye." came helm and ops responses. The young men seemed to be borrowing confidence from T'Larah's stability. Each order she gave strengthened their resolve as well. The Rosenante made her way to a hiding place while they effected repairs and rid themselves of their unwanted guest. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Science Labs - Security Officer Mike Rosenbauer - 2020) Mike was sprinting down the corridor to make his assembly point for the alert when he caught the sound of phaser fire coming from one of the science labs. Mike skidded to a halt and tapped his commbadge, "Rosenbauer to Chief Raschen," I have detected the sounds of phaser fire inside Science Lab three, require immediate support, I'm going to investigate." (reply Raschen iyw or are able) He stepped forward to trigger the door, phaser rifle at the ready. he nearly walked right into it however as the door seemed to be locked. ~that's odd.~ Mike reached out and used the security access codes to override the door. Nothing happened, instead Mike was greeted by a sort of error sound from the LCARS display. "Computer, security emergency, initiate evacuation protocols for Science lab three immediately." [Iz don't think so hombre.] came the reply. ~What the?~ Mike didn't bother giving any other commands, as he suddenly heard a sound that reminded him of one of his holodeck programs activating. He spun on instinct and immediately spotted a holographic marine pointing a phaser at his chest. they were less than a meter apart. "laters," the marine said, then fired. The blast struck Mike in the center of the chest. He jerked backwards as the uniform and top layer of his ablative security vest vaporized. He hit the door with a heavy thud and exhales sharply as the wind rushed from his lungs. He raised his hand phaser, but the hologram was already gone. The ablative vest had saved his life, although there was little chance that it could do so a second time. Mike raised his phaser a little higher and pressed the trigger, the beam impacted the corridor's holographic emitter and it exploded into shards of duranium and shattered crystalline lenses. "I'll be damned if I let a hologram take me out of the fight." he said as he pulled himself to his feet. Whatever was happening was certainly bizarre. He tried to tap his commbadge, but stopped short when he realized it was smoldering and partially melted. He grabbed the scorched uniform material and tore it away, taking the damaged commbadge along with it. He turned and looked back at the door and in one practiced move, pulled the manual activation panel open. He pulled out the computer override chips, and grabbed the manual release handle. Counting to himself , he yanked the lever when he reached three. The door slid open as the mechanical system engaged and forced the doors apart. There standing at the console was the murderous hologram who had tried to kill him a moment earlier. "Yous back for more, hombre?" he asked without even looking up. "Yeah, something like that," Mike replied. the sound of a holographic construct coming into existence sounded just a slight bit to the left of the door way, and Mike didn't hesitate. In one swift motion, he spun to his left raised his pistol and threw himself into the room. The beam went past him even as he was in motion. Mike's aim was truer and his phaser beam sliced through the air and impacted one of the emitters destroying it. The hologram disappeared only to be replaced by another. Mike rolled himself along the left side of the floor and fired at a second emitter. It exploded, and again the hologram disappeared only to be replaced a fraction of a second later. ~This guys is worse than the Borg!~ Mike thought as he fired a third blast destroying a third emitter. This time two holograms replaced the destroyed third construct. The first construct was still working at the console. Mike felt the heat from a phaser blast sear the hair on his head as he ducked. He reversed his motion and pushed himself off from the console where he had taken cover. He slid outward across the floor and fired twice more destroying both emitters in a shower of sparks. The primary construct was still working at the console. Mike leveled his phaser at him and glanced around looking for the emitter that remained active in the lab. Suddenly the hologram stopped what he was doing and he turned to face Mike, he was not armed, although that could change in an instant. "Yous not too bad for a security man, hombre. Yous shooda been a Marine. But yous lose. Iz only needed you to stay busy long enough to wipe the records. laters hombre." Mike fired into thin air as the hologram disappeared. ~Damn.~ That was when Mike spotted the console holographic display. He fired on it for good measure. Breathing heavily, Mike holstered his phaser and started to look around the room. the hologram wouldn't have needed to fire his weapon if there hadn't been someone here in the compartment when he had arrived, and since no one had arrived or left since Mike had been on the scene, that meant that they were still here. ~Let's hope they're still alive.~ (reply Maddox, Any, Raschen iyw) (posted by Daniel Greene) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Deck 12, Lower Computer Core - ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 2025) As soon as his last command had been issued, Dorian stood up from the chair, and rummaged in his kit for the isolated gloves. They seemed entirely too thin to adequately protect him fully. He wished he'd have had the neat toys engineers usually tote around, just for this. He walked to the ladder that would bring him to the lower level of the core, where the main holo-memories were located. Taking out the powered screwdriver, he went to work on the panel he had identified as the correct one. As soon as he was done, he settled the curved plating on the floor, made it rock gently as he turned his attention to what lay inside. He pulled the chip's carriage back, it's inertia fighting him most of the way. Rows and rows of clear and coloured chips looked at him. ~I'm scared, Dave.~ crossed through his mind as he contemplated the isolinear maze in front of him. Technically, most of it ought not to be damaged as he pulled them, since their circuits were not under full power at the moment. ~Oh I can just see myself explaining how I turned the EMH into a drooling idiot.~ Without further ado, he started pulling out chips. Not a lot of them had labels, or identifying marks, but he went at it methodically. As he pulled each wafer out, their inner glow died abruptly, and he rapidly put them on the concave surface of the plate that had covered this rack. ~No sense in losing any, now is there?~ The rack was slowly emptying as he kept pulling chip after chip. "Come on, this is stupid," he said as he pulled back, and grabbed his cricket from his pocket. He hated carrying the thing. Phasers, even the type I, where not his forte. "Computer, shut power down to the holographic processors of the computer core, Authorisation Weaver Delta Tango." [Unable to comply. Access has been restricted by] "Screw you!" screamed Dorian over the computer and fired directly at the rack in front of him. It spewed a shower of sparks that singed his hand and he let go of the phaser. The rack was now dark, and smelled of burnt plastic. "Maybe I should have listened to that..." A wave of fatigue washed over him as the adrenalin drained, and he settled on the floor, next to the batch of isolinear chips. If the hologram materialized right now, he might not even get up. "I am NOT an action hero, dammit!" (Reply Ramirez, any) (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Deck 12, Lower Computer Core - ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 2026) As he let his head rest on the bulkhead behind him, Dorian heard a holo-emitter power-up. ~No, this can't be! I blew the progams to bits!~ "Whose thinkin' they can get rid of me?" There was somehow a hollow ffeling to the voice, as if it tried hard to simulate emotion but had never really gotten it *quite* right. Despite his prior affirmation, Dorian bolted upright and headed for the ladder, not even sure where the marine had materialized. He quickly reached the top of the ladder through screaming muscles and panic-blurred vision.. The ominous sound announced his materialisation again. This time next to the ladder. "Youse lost, hombre." Dorian raised his head and could see the evil glee in the marine's eyes. He raised his foot and brought it crashing down on Dorian's face. Pain flared from his nose, and blood gushed from broken vessels. A second shock added to it when his face impacted on the ladder's rung, his fingers barely holding on. A few fractions of a second later, the marine started pounding on his hands. Fire ran down his arms as stars burst behind his eyes, and he was barely able to jam one of his foot in a rung before falling. He hit the back of his head on the floor below, and everything went dark.
