Now we must join our shipmates on the other side of the outdoor pens." She looked back at the large cage with her three purchases inside and could see already that the process of transferring them to Station V was already beginning. She hoped they realized they would be far better off having been sold and wished she could go over and reassure them, but that was out of the question. Instead she turned away and strode back the way they'd come until they were back outside the building, once they were all out she headed into the crowds that milled around the outside cages, pushing her way through the tightly packed, stinking bodies until at last, they were on the other side of the lines of cages. (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------- (Barakos IV- Slave Market- ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0000.5) Harry held out the device for Weaver's use. Dorian slid his chip in the reader dutifully, feeling very strange as he did so. The thought of owning a slave, even if just to keep a pretense up, was something more than a little appalling to him. He swallowed as he was completeing the transaction, pressing his thumb on the biometric reader. After a few seconds, he got approval from a banking computer somewhere, and he was considered, until further notice, the proud owner of another human's life and rights. ~Alright, let's get away from here and get rid of this ridiculous masquerade.~ (Posted by Mattieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Galley - House Pet - Norman - 0003) As the weight of sleep lifted from the grey feline, he opened his eyes just a bit more noticing the light level was a little brighter and a pair of feet with Starfleet issue boots and white pant legs. Norman streched and yawned for a full two seconds, and then stood up completely. He then walked over to the white pant legs and rubbed against them making an "S" pattern, and walking out the other side. (Reply Marcia) ~Let's see if I can get her to open the door.~ He walks over to the door, which doesn't open automaticly because Norman doesn't have enough mass. He sits infront of it and looks up at the door. "Meow" (Posted by Todd) ------------------------------------------------------------- (Barakos IV- Slave Market- PFC Marta "Nun" Nunez - Day 6- 0004) Marta led the party of two ensigns and one newly purchased slave girl through the crowd back towards the position where Ro'Dal and Caskie were to meet them. They had not yet asked Sodra, who divulged her name once the transaction was concluded, anything about the Prince or the other missing Meldovians, thinking it more prudent to wait for Ro'Dal and Caskie before pursuing that line of questioning. Marta was pretty certain that she had lead them back to the correct location, despite the fact that the place looked pretty much the same from just about any given angle. There was no sign of the other members of the away team, but they could be on their way currently, and although Marta was tempted to just use her commbadge to call them, she wanted to keep it hidden and unused unless absolutely necessary. She turned back to face the other members of her portion of the away team. "Looks like a hurry up and wait situation." she said. (posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Galley - Chef Marcia Gastineau- Day 6- 0005) Marcia was deep in the middle of a performance counseling write up when her attention was suddenly taken away from Her PADD by the insistent rubbing against her leg. She had all but forgotten about the cat that she had been asked to watch and was therefore a little surprised at first. She placed the PADD on the table and turned to the gray cat and smiling said, "I had completely forgotten that you were here." In response the cat moved over to the door and mewed softly. "Oh no." she said shaking her head, "I have to keep an eye on you while Lieutenant Sullivan is planet side. There is absolutely no way that you're getting out of this office without some cataclysmic event. You may as well go lay down somewhere and wait" Then after a moment of silence she added, "Besides, I have way too many of these reports to do tonight. Marcia turned her attention back to the PADD that she had been working on and went right back to work. (Posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------- (Barakos IV - Slave Market - Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 0006) T'Kron was wary of Slaver Mudd and suspected him of attempting to cheat them. But as long as they got their lead on finding and extricating the Prince from the current predicament, he supposed it would not matter in the end. He followed after Nunez, their new purchase and Ensign Weaver, warily watching both her and the crowds around them. On the way to their prearranged meeting place, T'Kron studied their new slave surreptitiously while holding onto the leash attached to her collar as she walked in front of him, following Ensign Weaver. She seemed a mixture of several races and he would not be surprised if she was telepathic or had some other hidden abilities. Maybe with some encouragement she would leave the devalued life of a slave and have the chance to do something worthwhile for herself. He had seen the burn punishment scars on her back when she changed clothing and had been concerned, though he did not show it. She had apparently been ill used, all though if she had stolen from her owners that might account for it. He shook his head to himself. Slavery was an illogical way to accrue credits for one's needs. It devalued the best in both slave and owner while bringing out the worst. They stopped at their prearranged meeting coordinates. Private Nunez turned back to face the other members of her assigned away team. "Looks like a hurry up and wait situation," she said. T'Kron simply nodded and glanced around for their compatriots, while holding tightly to the leash fastened to Sodra's collar, saying nothing and warily keeping an eye on her. (Posted by Sheila Mayer) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Barakos IV- Slave Market- ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0007) Dorian felt completely drained, and was quite happy to let T'Kron hold on to that despicable leash. Both of his teamates seemed overly paranoid for the four of them, and he hadn,t the faintest clue what he should be on the lookout for. Better to leave it to the professionals. "Do you think the others will be long? I'm not particularly worried that Ro' can't hold her own, but I have a bad feeling about this whole business.. Something is about to blow up in our face…" Dorian rested his butt on one of the discarded crates adjacent to their meeting point, and tried to observe Sodra from the corner of his eye. She wasn't repulsive, but the scars on her body had somehow bothered him. He felt guilty, for some strange reason. Was she really a serious lead? Could she help them in a tangible way? If they set her free, how long would she last, and did Starfleet have protocols regarding such acts? Dorian started brooding deeper, and deeper thoughts. (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - New Slave Market- Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - 0011) They found the other three waiting for them, and they had someone else with them. "Heavens preserve us, I can't wait to get off this stinking planet and have a shower. I will smell that stink until I do, I swear it's transferred to me now." The Takaran complained as they met up with the other party. Ro' nodded towards the female who wore a collar and leash. "Who is this?" She demanded, frowning at T'Kron who was holding the leash. (reply T'Kron, any) "I see, well we also have made some purchases. Three Meldovians in fact, who will be awaiting collection on Orbital Station V when we get there. As for the other, there was no sign of it." (posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - New Slave Market - Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 0013) The part of the away team lead by Lt. Ro'Dal arrived with Dr. Caskie and an odd smaller pudgy being, who scampered along with them, occasionally bounding off of surrounding structures with surprising agility. "Heavens preserve us, I can't wait to get off this stinking planet and have a shower. I will smell that stink until I do, I swear it's transferred to me now," complained the Takaran as they met up with the other party. She nodded towards the female who wore a collar and leash. "Who is this?" demanded Lt. Ro'Dal, frowning at T'Kron who was holding the leash. "She is Sodra, a slave we have purchased that we think may be useful." T'Kron gave a significant look to Ro'Dal and then said calmly for the benefit of outsiders who might be watching and listening, "Do you wish to make something of it?" The Takaran security officer ignored him. "I see. Well we also have made some purchases. Three Meldovians in fact, who will be awaiting collection on Orbital Station V when we get there. As for the other, there was no sign of it." T'Kron nodded in response. "What is this creature with you? Is it dangerous in any way?" he asked, gesturing toward the squat little life form. He studied the small being intently, looking for obvious evidence of disease, claws, or poisonous fangs that might present some sort of harm to them or the ship. (Posted by Sheila Mayer) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - Slave Market- Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - 0014) Having rendezvoused with the other members of Away Team 3, Ro' noticed the new addition and nodded towards the female who was wearing a collar and leash. T'Kron was holding the leash. "Who is this?" demanded Lt. Ro'Dal, frowning at T'Kron. "She is Sodra, a slave we have purchased that we think may be useful." T'Kron gave a look to Ro'Dal that Ro' took as meaning nothing personal, and then said calmly for the benefit of outsiders who might be watching and listening, "Do you wish to make something of it?" The Takaran chose to ignore the question and not make an issue of the 'insubordination'. She informed the others of her own special purchases who would be awaiting collection by their buyer on Orbital Station V; she mentioned there was no sign of the other they sought to purchase. T'Kron nodded in response. "What is this creature with you? Is it dangerous in any way?" he asked, gesturing toward Nodel, looking him over thoroughly. "If he were dangerous, would I have him with me and be willing to take him aboard our ship?" Ro'Dal retorted. "Nodel has been of great use to us, without his help we would not have found the bargain priced slaves we were seeking." She looked down at the smaller being and smiled, "but I am sure he would use those sharp claws and teeth to defend himself if he really had to. Looking around at her comrades again she added, "for his services I have agreed to be his provider from now on... Now, I think our task is complete, we have four slaves to transfer and I am sure the Captain is eager to look them over so let's get back to the orbital station and collect the other three." (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - Slave Market- ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0015) "...Now, I think our task is complete, we have four slaves to transfer and I am sure the Captain is eager to look them over so let's get back to the orbital station and collect the other three." "Before we do that, I think we should have Doc here take care of a little bit of business." Dorian grabbed Sodra as gently as possible by the shoulder, bringing her closer to Ro'Dal and Caskie. This also had the advantage of drawing the Team around her in a circle, hiding their motions somewhat to outsiders. He pinched the slave-girl's forearm as Harry had done, showing the faded blinking light to the surgeon. "I think it would be, hmmm, unwise to let some people know of where we are heading exactly. Shuttles and transporters can be traced too easily, especially with one of those." He released the skin he had been pinching for the last few seconds, realizing this must have been painful or at least uncomfortable. "Anybody have a solution for this?" (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - Slave Market- Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - 0016) "...let's get back to the orbital station and collect the other three." Ro'Dal stated, anticipating a fairly quick return to the Rosenante, and was all set to lead the way back to the shuttle pad when Ensign Weaver replied. "Before we do that, I think we should have Doc here take care of a little bit of business." He grabbed the female slave gently by the shoulder to bring her closer to Ro'Dal and Caskie. The motion drew the others around Sodra encircling her. He then pinched the slavegirl's forearm to show a blinking red light just under her skin, stating that he thought it would be unwise to let some people know of where we are heading exactly. So apparently it was a tracking device. He then released the girl's skin and asked if anybody had a solution for it. "It is just under the skin." Ro' observed. "I am sure a very small incision with a sharp knife would access it, however I believe that the keepers of the slave pens on the orbital station would most certainly have a device that can extricate it, without the necessity of cutting her. I also think it pertinent for the other three slaves to be checked for similar devices." The Takaran looked slowly around at the faces of her comrades to see if there were any further suggestions. (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Planet Barakos - Slave Market- ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0017) Dorian was sincerely hoping that the Takaran officer's suggestion of using a knife to remove a surgically implanted tracker was only for show. Yes, he rationalized, it must be. No Starfleet officer was that callous, right? He'd done his job, nothing had gone wrong. Not a shot fired, no need to duck, it was all good. Still, it had been good to just be a faceless nobody among a big crowd for an hour. If every mission was that short, it would make for an easy cruise… (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Barakos IV- Slave Market- PFC Marta "Nun" Nunez - Day 6- 0018) "Do you think the others will be long? I'm not particularly worried that Ro' can't hold her own, but I have a bad feeling about this whole business.. Something is about to blow up in our face…" Dorian was asking, while Marta was keeping her eyes open for potential trouble. She noticed the Lieutenant well before she made her way to the party. Her height, being greater than most of those around her, allowed Marta to spot her easily. "Don't look now, but here she comes, I'm not quite sure but she may be very unhappy." Marta commented. True to the marine's suspicions, Ro'Dal appeared to be in a less than pleasant mood; opening the conversation with, "Heavens preserve us, I can't wait to get off this stinking planet and have a shower. I will smell that stink until I do, I swear it's transferred to me now." The Takaran nodded towards the female who wore a collar and leash. She was frowning at T'Kron "Who is this?" As for the other, there was no sign of it." T'Kron nodded. "What is this creature with you? Is it dangerous in any way?" he asked, gesturing toward the squat little life form that seemed to be a new part of the retinue. "If he were dangerous, would I have him with me and be willing to take him aboard our ship?" Ro'Dal retorted. "Nodel has been of great use to us, without his help we would not have found the bargain priced slaves we were seeking." She looked down at the smaller being and smiled, "but I am sure he would use those sharp claws and teeth to defend himself if he really had to." In response the Nodel lowered itself into a sort of crouch and bore it's teeth at the Vulcan. He also placed his wickedly clawed fingers in front of him as if preparing to attack tooth and nail. The Lieutenant didn't seem to be too worried about this display of bravado and continued with her verbal report, "for his services I have agreed to be his provider from now on... Now, I think our task is complete, we have four slaves to transfer and I am sure the Captain is eager to look them over so let's get back to the orbital station and collect the other three." Weaver interjected then while taking his new slave girl by the shoulder. He brought her closer to the other two members of the away team and he brought her left forearm up into the center of the circle between them. He pinched the tracking device between his thumb and forefinger, showing the faded blinking light to everyone clearly. "Before we do that, I think we should have Doc here take care of a little bit of business." Dorian added, then once the device was clearly seen by all continued, "I think it would be, hmmm, unwise to let some people know of where we are heading exactly. Shuttles and transporters can be traced too easily, especially with one of those." He released the pinch and concluded his presentation with, "Anybody have a solution for this?" "It is just under the skin." Ro' observed. "I am sure a very small incision with a sharp knife would access it, however I believe that the keepers of the slave pens on the orbital station would most certainly have a device that can extricate it, without the necessity of cutting her. I also think it pertinent for the other three slaves to be checked for similar devices." Marta nodded, "I'd say you're probably right about that sir. I'd say anywhere they could add them, they could remove them. And if I'm not too mistaken I saw a couple of slavers using isolinear tag guns while we were there before." Marta glanced over at the slave, Sodra who had remained completely silent during the entire discourse. The marine wondered if the slave girl was really necessary at this point, but she said nothing. Weaver had purchased her and Weaver would have to be responsible for her, just as the captain had said. Nunez just wondered if the Ensign had any idea at all what that would mean. Her thoughts were interrupted by the whine of a shuttle craft as it started coming in for a landing at one of the embarkation/disembarkation pads. Since they had been waiting, Marta had taken not that the shuttle to Station V, cycled through on a trip roughly every 10 minutes. The next shuttle would be arriving at 0025 and if they hoped to be on it, they had better get moving. "Not to interrupt, Ro'Dal," Marta said quietly, "but the next shuttle for station five departs that pad," she pointed," in a little over six minutes. If we want to be on that one, we'd better get moving, otherwise it is a 10 minute wait for the next shuttle." (posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Barakos IV- Slave Market- Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - Day 6- 0019) The marine, Nunez, agreed with Ro's assessment of the tracking chip's extraction, stating she had seen some slavers isolinear tag guns while they were on the Orbital Station previously. The whine of a shuttle craft as it started coming in for a landing at one of the embarkation/disembarkation pads could be heard, and Ro'Dal looked up to watch it land... "Not to interrupt, Ro'Dal," Nunez said quietly, "but the next shuttle for station five departs that pad," she pointed," in a little over six minutes. If we want to be on that one, we'd better get moving, otherwise it is a 10 minute wait for the next shuttle." With a nod, Ro' agreed. "Then let's go, I don't want to stay here any longer than I must!" She began jogging towards the shuttle as it was some distance away and the crowd parted for her most agreeably, probably for fear of being trampled on by the Takaran, who had no intention of slowing down. (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Barakos IV - Slave Market – Engineer Ensign T'Kron - 0020) T'Kron silently agreed with Lt. Ro'Dal. T'Kron found himself looking forward to leaving the slave pen area safely without injury. But other things were bothering him. Could the tracking devices be used to follow them if indeed Sodra was a spy? Could these devices be used to track her by others so that she would escape and bring her Slaver Mudd more money by being sold again? Could she be a willing participant in any such scheme? He made a mental note to voice these questions when open discussion could be done in comparative safety. T'Kron hoped not. He found the entire idea of such a lifestyle distasteful, bordering on repellant. The idea of ownership of another sentient being was a fundamentally grievous error that could only lead to compounding more of the same, twisting the very fabric of any culture and keeping it from stable development. Ironically, he had found himself the one to hold Sodra's leash attached to her collar to keep up appearances in order to leave this place unharmed. If Sodra was intelligent as she had stated, then perhaps she would become more enlightened herself. T'Kron could not logically see how any mentally healthy being would willingly embrace the concept of slavery. Again, he hoped that she was mentally fit enough to see her chance to escape this life by helping them in their mission. "Not to interrupt, Ro'Dal," Marta said quietly. "But the next shuttle for station five departs that pad in a little over six minutes." Private Nunez pointed in the direction of the shuttle station. "If we want to be on that one, we'd better get moving; otherwise it is a 10 minute wait for the next shuttle." With a nod, Lt. Ro'Dal agreed. "Then let's go. I don't want to stay here any longer than I must!" She began jogging towards the shuttle as it was some distance away and the crowd parted for her most agreeably, probably for fear of being trampled on by the Takaran, who showed no intention of slowing down. T'Kron agreed and followed, indicating that Sodra should trot beside him. The rest of their group followed in the wake of the Takaran and made their way after her. (Posted by Sheila Mayer) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Orbital Station V - Slave Pens - ACSO Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0035) As they were waiting for the slaves to finish processing, Dorian was leaning against a bulkhead, looking at the whole farce. He did not doubt for a single second that his Takaran superior could snap bones with relative ease, and he had seen Vulcans fighting with their deadly martial arts. But he still felt like they were blantantly transparent. Still, it was nice to be back in space. Even if it was air-scrubbed, the atmosphere was much more breathable. How long they would have to keep the pretense up was out of his hands, but he wondered seriously how the debriefing would occur. Would the slaves be freed as soon as they beamed aboard, and be asked to cooperate, or would their freedom be conditional upon how much information they can provide. Darker times in human history had often seen torture used as a method, and this mission was so outside of normal parameters that he didn't know what to expect. This essentially could be reduced to the old consequentialist dilemma: The case of the trolley, but on a much bigger scale. You are on the side of a street when you notice a trolley car losing control and careening down on five innocent bystanders. The only option you have is to throw someone beside you in the way of the trolley to save these five people. What do you do? It could very well be adapted by the same people, namely consequentialists, to the present situation. Where the lives of a few individuals worth more than that of the millions that could potentially be saved by the information they could yield. Especially… Sodra. ~No!~The Meldovians would most probably cooperate, after all, but she was unaware of any of the bigger issues at hand. Of course, seeing only the big words was purely fallacious, as the average person could be pressured into making choices under false assumption, such as neglecting to notice the use of the word "potentially", or by being pressured into actually putting a worth to a life, which is the type of thought that gave rise to slavery in the first place. As they prepared for Transport, Dorian started reviewing how he could get her out of harm and to safety if need be. ~A shuttle wwould give me the best chance.~ And regulations be damned. He would not care to work for an organisation whose ethos he could not respect. If it came to that, of course. ~Rather the brig than colusion with torture.~ (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Orbital Station V - Slave Pens - Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - 0039) Fortunately the trip back to the station was much less crowded, so Ro's mood was a little lighter as they found the slave pens and checked on the three Meldovians, who were looking a lot better than they had been. She was pleased to see that they'd received some medical treatment and clothing, and were looking like they felt better, though the female appeared frightened and apprehensive. Ro' approached one of the slavers in charge of the pens and requested the tracking devices be removed from all four slaves, which he did for a fee, naturally. She also purchases leashes for the three Meldovians and snapped them on their collars to lead them from the pens. (Room for more) At this hour, even the station was far less crowded and it didn't take them long to move to their original beam in point, where she got Nodel to keep an eye out while she brought her commbadge out of her pocket. When Nodel returned and indicated that there was no possibility of being discovered, she activated it. "Ro'Dal to Rosenante. Ten to beam up." Now Ro'Dal's good humor returned fully, soon they would be home and out of danger. (posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 0040) Ahmed sat tensely watching the never-changing main viewer. There had been no communication from any members of the away teams that remained on the surface of Barakos IV. Already they had lost one officer, a good man and Ahmed was anxious to hear something, anything from the other two teams on the surface. "Sir, we're getting a signal from the Orbital facility, it's Lieutenant Ro'Dal." Ensign Raines, manning the operations station reported. "Put it on speaker." =^=Ro'Dal to Rosenante. Ten to beam up.=^= ~Ten. That could account for both teams and a pair of additionals.~ Ahmed thought. The captain smiled at the thought and stood up from his chair. "Ensign notify Transporter room one, have them beamed aboard right away. I'm headed there myself." he said as he rounded the island and headed for the turbolift. "Mister Xim." he said in a clear voice. "Sir?" "You have the Conn." "Aye Captain." (Posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------ (Orbital Station V - Slave Pens- Soldier- Komas Dahl- 0045) Once the tracking devices, which he didn't even know he had been implanted on his person were removed, Komas suddenly felt very vulnerable. The female slave owner had purchased collars and these had been placed around the necks of the Meldovians, including the invalid Frolek. Ambia and Komas were instructed to carry the litter, and the group of slavers and four slaves moved through the station and into a corridor which seemed to end for no apparent reason. Once they were forced to stop because of the wall at the end of the corridor, the Leader of the Slavers fished something gold colored out of her pocket and then spoke into the device. "Ro'Dal to Rosenante. Ten to beam up." she said and Komas knew then that they would at least have a chance of escape if the ship wasn't too large. Once Frolek was mended, he could fly the ship and Ambia was a quick learner. Of course the actual escape plan and all the hard work in dealing with the crew would be left to Komas to deal with. All they needed was time and opportunity, once they presented themselves, they'd mutiny and steal the ship, then find the prince and return to Meldovian space as heroes. (Posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante- Transporter Room One- CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 0048) Ahmed entered the transporter room shortly after the team had arrived. And while he was a little disappointed that it wasn't both teams together as he'd hoped, her was glad to see that Ro'Dal's team had not suffered any casualties. Ahmed smiled broadly when he realized that the additional members of the transport party were, in fact Three Meldovians and two other individuals (one of which was a species that he did not recognize.) "Welcome home Everyone." he said to the away team first then turned his attention to the 'slaves.' "Welcome to the Federation Starship Rosenante" he began speaking to the slaves in greeting. "I am Captain Salid. You are free beings now, although for the moment we are still in Orion space and so I must be cautious, so I will need to have you escorted while you are aboard the ship. There will be more time for proper introductions later, as I think it more prudent to have you checked out medically and give you all a chance to rest and recover your strength. I will beet with each of you tomorrow." "Lieutenant Caskie, please escort these individuals to Sickbay and give them whatever care they require. Lieutenant Ro'Dal will arrange a security escort to meet you there. You are both dismissed. Get some rest, you've earned it." (reply Caskie, Ro'Dal) "Mister Nunez, Mister T'Kron and Mister Weaver, please prepare a complete report as soon as possible, then get some rest. There will be plenty of discussion to be had tomorrow. You're both dismissed." (reply Weaver) "Aye captain," the Marine replied, then turned and followed Ensigns Weaver and T'Kron out the door and into the corridor. Ahmed turned and looked at the transporter operator. "Good work chief, hopefully we'll get a call from Lieutenant Sullivan shortly." "Aye, sir. I hope we do at that." the man replied. Ahmed gave him a silent nod and exited the transporter room. He was exhausted and needed to get some rest. He tapped his commbadge. "Salid to Xim." =^=Xim here sir.=^= "Lieutenant, let me know immediately as soon as you hear anything from Lieutenant Sullivan's team. In the meantime I'll be in my quarters. Tell Ensign Raines that we will need guest quarters for 5 personnel arranged immediately. Have him forward the information to the security team assigned as escorts for our new arrivals." =^= Understood sir.=^= "Captain out." (posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante- Deck 10, Corridor- ACSO- Ensign jg Dorian Weaver - 0048.5) "Mister Nunez, Mister T'Kron and Mister Weaver, please prepare a complete report as soon as possible, then get some rest. There will be plenty of discussion to be had tomorrow. You're both dismissed." "Thank you, Captain." Dorian answered with palpable relief as he was still thankful for the strong initiative and openness of the captain. His mind was at ease… or almost. There was still something that needed to be laid to rest. He followed his team out of the transporter room, and once they were safely out of earshot of the Captain, he addressed Nunez. "Private, I was wondering if I could have a word with you? With a councilor present if you prefer, but I'd rather get this done before we write up our reports." He gave a significant look at T'Kron. "It is concerning certain things that were said, dirtside." (Reply T'Kron, Nunez) Just as he finished saying this, Lt Ro'Dal stormed past them, seemingly backtracking to the Transporter room. ~Oh no, not so soon!~ But she brushed past them without addressing them. "So, how shall we go about this?" said he in a tense voice. "I'd rather we do this ourselves, rather than escalate it needlessly." (Posted by Mathieu Raymond) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante – Transporter Room 1 – Sec.O Lt. Ro'Dal - 0049) There was nothing more welcome to Ro' than to feel herself materializing aboard the USS Rosenante once more. She almost always liked going on away missions if planets were involved, but this time she hadn't enjoyed the experience over much, apart from finding Nodel, or him finding her. She was startled when the male Meldovian fell to his knees beside her, thinking that he'd become ill, but then she heard him thanking fate for his freedom, so obviously his condition had not worsened. The door to the room opened and the Captain walked in, just as Ro' was about to haul the man to his feet, but it looked like his female comrade was going to help him so Ro' just smiled wearily at Captain Salid who was beaming with pleasure. "Welcome home Everyone." He said to the away team first then turned his attention to the 'slaves.' "Happy to be back, Sir." Ro'Dal replied. "Welcome to the Federation Starship Rosenante." The Captain addressed all the 'slaves', and introduced himself, telling them that they were free now, but because they were still in Orion Space, he had to be cautious and would require them to be escorted while aboard the ship. He went on to tell them he thought it prudent to have them medically checked out first and he would meet them tomorrow. Ro' figured he really meant today but hadn't realized what the time was. She was certain that the 'slaves' understood that too. "Lieutenant Caskie, please escort these individuals to Sickbay and give them whatever care they require. Lieutenant Ro'Dal will arrange a security escort to meet you there. You are both dismissed. Get some rest, you've earned it." (reply Caskie) "Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir. I'll do that right away!" Ro' replied and headed straight out the door, tapping her commbadge as she started to stride down the corridor to notify the security personnel on duty, to send four escorts to Sickbay immediately. As she finished doing that she suddenly remembered she'd forgotten something and swiftly doing an about face, returned to the transporter room, meeting T'Kron, Weaver and Nunez as they exited. She smiled seeing Nodel looking a little bewildered and beckoned to him to come to her. (reply Nodel) "Sorry my friend, I forgot about you for a moment." She lifted the small being up and held him, stepping out into the corridor as the Captain spoke with the transporter operator, where she waited for Salid to exit, but before she had a chance to speak he was already tapping his commbadge and talking to Xim about the other away teams, and ordering rooms be made available for five beings. "Oh I guess you get your own quarters, Nodel, and I didn't realize that you have to go to sickbay with the Doctor to get checked out too." She whispered to him. (reply Nodel) "Captain, Sir." Ro' hurried to catch up with Salid. "Umm, this is Nodel he's an...Amthopoid. He was extremely helpful down there, without his help we wouldn't have found the Meldovians. For his help I agreed to be his Provider which means I am responsible for him now, and as he is uninjured, I was wondering if you require that he go to Sickbay also? (posted by Sal) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante – Transporter Room 1 – Nodel- Day 6- 0050) Things were happening so fast that Nodel didn't understand what was happening. He understood that they were moved my energy beam to a ship and that explained why the surroundings had suddenly changed, but when the male slave suddenly fell to his knees, Nodel was worried that the air was poisoned for a moment. The small being had moved away from the other slave to avoid being punished along with him and so had not been noticed as readily by everyone. When a male human came into the room and started speaking Nodel realized that this was the person in charge of the vessel. He could tell by the males words and by the way that Ro'Dal, who had been the leader on the planet had immediately bowed to his wishes. As Bones led the other slaves out of the room, Nodel suddenly realized that Ro'Dal had left him alone with the master of the ship. Nodel didn't know what to do, other than just stand there, shrunk back against the wall hoping that the master slaver would not notice his disobedience. Suddenly the door opened again and Ro'Dal returned. Nodel immediately sent her feelings of happiness. She made a gesture and the Amthopoid moved swiftly across the floor to his new provider, whom he hoped would protect him form the Master Slaver's wrath. "Sorry my friend, I forgot about you for a moment." she said in reassurance. "Is not problem, Nodel try hard to not be seen. Nodel not want Master Slaver made with him." he replied. She lifted Nodel off the ground and held him, stepping out into the corridor. There she paused. The master slaver stepped into the corridor speaking to the air and Nodel wondered if that was normal for him to do. It was more surprising to the Amthopoid when the air spoke back to the master slaver. "Oh I guess you get your own quarters, Nodel, and I didn't realize that you have to go to sickbay with the Doctor to get checked out too." Ro'Dal said to him. "But Nodel is healthy. Not sick, no want to swim in sick water." he argued. Rather than answering him, however, Ro'Dal rushed down the hall to catch up with the master Slaver. "Captain, Sir." She said, "Umm, this is Nodel he's an...Amthopoid. He was extremely helpful down there, without his help we wouldn't have found the Meldovians. For his help I agreed to be his Provider which means I am responsible for him now, and as he is uninjured, I was wondering if you require that he go to Sickbay also?" The Master Slaver stopped in mid stride and looked at Nodel, then looked at Ro'Dal. "Do you know for a fact Lieutenant that Nodel here has not been exposed to any contagions that could be harmful to members of this ship's crew? Do you have any idea what a proper diet for an Amthopoid is? Because I certainly don't. I understand that you have given your word and made a commitment to Nodel here, so let's begin by taking him to sickbay for a complete physical exam and a nutritional analysis. Then, when he is released by the medical Staff, he may retire to his quarters or yours if you prefer. But until he is cleared, you have your orders Mister Ro'Dal." The master slaver seemed anxious and Nodel tried to send some calming thoughts to him. Almost immediately the master slavers tone changed. And his body stance relaxed and he continued. "Lieutenant you've done a marvelous job bringing back all the members of your team. And I realize that you're only trying to do the right thing. I'm a little stressed right now. I have an away team still on the surface without any word and Lieutenant Bird was attacked and killed during his portion of the mission. I'm sorry for snapping at you. I hope that you will accept my apologies, I had hoped that your team had joined up with Lieutenant Sullivan's team and were returning to the ship together. I suppose I'm just a little heartsick over the Bird's loss." (posted by Daniel Greene) ------------------------------------------------------------ (USS Rosenante – Corridor– CO- Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- 0051) Ahmed had no sooner finished giving instructions to Xim than Ro'Dal had caught his attention. "Captain, Sir." She said, "Umm, this is Nodel he's an...Amthopoid. For his help I agreed to be his Provider which means I am responsible for him now, and as he is uninjured, I was wondering if you require that he go to Sickbay also?" Ahmed started to turn and head for the bridge, but he stopped after only one step. He let out a deep sigh then turned back to Ro'Dal. "Lieutenant you've done a marvelous job bringing back all the members of your team. And I realize that you're only trying to do the right thing. I'm a little stressed right now. She could dictate the report pretty quickly and then could get some rest before the debriefing the following day. She had just decided to let her guard down for a moment of stress relief when Weaver spoke to her, immediately putting her back on duty. "Private, I was wondering if I could have a word with you? With a councilor present if you prefer, but I'd rather get this done before we write up our reports. It is concerning certain things that were said, dirt side." (reply T'Kron) She stood walking and turned about so that she was facing Weaver and T'Kron. "Certainly sir," she replied and came to attention, after all she was addressing a superior officer, even if he was fleet. "So, how shall we go about this?" said he in a tense voice. "I'd rather we do this ourselves, rather than escalate it needlessly." ~What the hell is he talking about?~ Marta wondered. ~did I say something wrong planet side?~ "I'm sorry sir, I'm afraid I'm not tracking you." She replied. "I can see that… and I guess this makes it all the more awkward. And please, don't stand at attention. This is bad enough as it is. We're not... you know… You're… and I'm..." Dorian turned a shade closer to crimson. But he forged ahead through his embarassment. "I was under the impressions that certain things said dirtside made you angry or uncomfortable. At least from the molten neutronium look in your eyes." he waited for an inkling of recollection to show up in the private's eyes. (Reply Nunez, T'Kron) "I was only saying these things to keep up the front of our characters, and in normal circumstances would never pretend to proprietorship over your body or heart." He paused a second. "You are a coworker, and I respect you as such. I myself would never hold such a discourse towards you, or anyone else in Starfleet." Saying these things in the middle of a corridor was far from ideal, even if it was effectively the dead of the night. Starships didn't sleep like cities; not quite, anyway. Dorian suddenly felt the day,s events wash over him and his shoulders slump with fatigue. At least from the molten neutronium look in your eyes." he paused for a moment. "Oh, I see." she replied and nodded as she relaxed her body posture. It was now apparent that Weaver was a bit unhappy about what had transpired on the surface. "I was only saying these things to keep up the front of our characters, and in normal circumstances would never pretend to proprietorship over your body or heart." He paused a second. "You are a coworker, and I respect you as such. I myself would never hold such a discourse towards you, or anyone else in Starfleet." His shoulders slumped forward a little bit. ~How cute.~ When his posture didn't change for a moment, Marta smiled. then said, "No worries sir, never thought you meant anything by it. And besides it takes a lot more than those few words you used planet side to make me really mad. There was no offense taken. We can call it even if you promise to buy me dinner and drinks next time we get R&R." "Assuming you're not too preoccupied by your new slave girl that is?" she added then gave him a wink.
