The man was definitely interesting and Divon had gotten along with him fairly well during his evaluation when he had first joined the mission. The truth was, that he had not had the opportunity to get to know many of his fellow crew members in a more social environment, probably because they seemed to go from one crisis to another, and when they weren't in crisis it seemed like he was in the middle of dealing with the long counsellor ignored crew. Divon then watched as the doors to the bridge slid open and the Strategical Officer walked in. Divon suppressed a smile remembering the session and the face that he had met a fellow practical joker.   "Gentlemen," he nodded, "and how were your breaks?"   Divon thought back to his time spent with Sabine and smiled. "Well, the counsellor refresher course was pretty standard and not altogether exciting... but other aspects of my stay on Geneva more than made up for it."   (reply Williams)   "Doctor, how's the new sickbay? Did they ever get rid of that smell, and rethink the route of the waste disposal system?" Tahl had to fight back a smile.   Hearing this Lronen fought back a smile. Leave it to Tahl to bring something like THAT up. "But Medical waste is 'in' this year, isn't it? Makes you wonder what they're thinking in the shipyards sometimes. Stations designed by people who have never set foot aboard a starship," said Divon now smiling broadly.   (reply Williams)   "So, Commander, how did you spend your time off? Anything exciting?" asked Divon.   (Reply Tahlmari)   Divon nodded and dropped his voice low, "What do you think about our sudden full state of war? I get the feeling my counselling duties are just going to increase for awhile. There are a lot of people on the LoDona side with family in the 'other' Starfleet."   (Reply Williams, Tahlmari) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Bridge - CMO Williams - 1303) "Gentlemen," he nodded, "and how were your breaks?" Andrew looked up to see standing beside them. "Well, the counsellor refresher course was pretty standard and not altogether exciting... but other aspects of my stay on Geneva more than made up for it." Andrew smiled. "Yes my break was good I went for a conference on Argos VII and got a little bit more then I expected." ~That's for sure!~ His hand racing to his tattoo. "Doctor, how's the new sickbay? Did they ever get rid of that smell, and rethink the route of the waste disposal system?" Andrew groaned slightly. ~This is going to be a running joke~ "That was not funny. The amount of disinfectant that was used meant that any one that who entered sickbay for a week after passed out from the fumes." "But Medical waste is 'in' this year, isn't it? Makes you wonder what they're thinking in the shipyards sometimes. Stations designed by people who have never set foot aboard a starship," said Divon Andrew looked at Divon and grinned. "It's nice to know that people take Sickbay seriously." "So, Commander, how did you spend your time off? Anything exciting?" asked Divon. (Reply Tahlmari) Andrew listened to what Tahlmari had to say Divon nodded and dropped his voice low, "What do you think about our sudden full state of war? I get the feeling my counselling duties are just going to increase for awhile. There are a lot of people on the LoDona side with family in the 'other' Starfleet." Andrew looked at Tahlmari and waited for his reply (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase Geneva, Strategic Ops Center – StratOps, Commander Tahlmari - 1305)   Tahl listened to the other two officers talk about their respective breaks. They both seemed to have used their time well. Tahl only wished his time had been spent so well. Instead, he felt, that the time was not what was supposed to be for him. Although command had a different point of view.   When he was asked what he did he tried to be a little evasive. Although Lronen kind knew a bit of his story, it didn't need to be the fleets business. "Let's just say that I did some business for the fleet. Me knew and interesting people, and had a military conclusion to the business."   Then Lronen's voice dropped as he spoke. "What do you think about our sudden full state of war? I get the feeling my counselling duties are just going to increase for awhile. There are a lot of people on the LoDona side with family in the 'other' Starfleet."   "Well," Tahl began, "it really shouldn't have come as a surprise, but it is a little earlier than I would have predicted. However, the circumstances were just right for it." Then he nodded to Lronen. "There'll be a lot of that around. Many of our people left family and friends on planets that are now being decimated by Doenitz and his thugs. I'd say this hasn't come a moment too soon."   Tahl looked at the looks on the other two men's faces. "But that's just my opinion. Anyway, I better check in with the captain and let him know I'll be hanging out here a little longer."   He stepped over to the captain's ready room door. A small smiled came across his face as he recalled that he had reprogrammed the turbolift computer to recognize the counsellor's voice and take him to random floors, other than the one he requested. He hoped that he would appreciate the effort. Then he reached up and pressed the door chime button.   (Reply Remae) (Posted by Al Muir) (USS Spectre, Ready Room - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1330) Remae was still thinking about his conversation with the Counsellor and Command's insistence that he go through with a session or two with the Counsellor. "Come on in,” said Remae at the sound of the door-chime and in walked Commander Tahl. "Commander, how can I help you? Does the new STRATOPS centre look good?” asked Remae. (Reply from Tahl) "So, Mr Tahl, what can I do for you?” asked Remae with the thoughts still on his mind regarding his impending meeting with the Counsellor. (Reply from Tahl) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Bridge - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1530) Remae noted the departure of the senior officers, he had heard that the First Officer had called a meeting. the Bajoran was quite impressed with his actions thus far. He took the time while it was quiet to examine the situation with the 52nd fleet and their actions against Admiral Doenitz and the rest of the Federation. Although it wasn't common knowledge, most of the senior officers of the fleet had been informed that they were now in a shooting war with Doenitz and that LoDona was going to stop him, at any cost. All ships of the fleet were going on the offensive and that also meant the Spectre. So far, there had been no major engagements, but news was hard to come by, rumours of uprisings, resistance and battles from inside the Federation were rift. Remae looked at the orders again, for what it was worth, they were vague and ambiguous. The Bajoran felt the tingling in his bones, whenever Starfleet became creative, big things were going to happen. They had locked in their departure of 0900 tomorrow and the crew were being told of the pre-launch briefing at 0700, in the meantime, Remae had a dinner, a meeting with the Counsellor and some spare time. he decided a quick tour was in order and he left the most senior officer on the Bridge in charge while he went for his stroll. (USS Spectre, Conference Room – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1541) "First things first, my name is T’Vhor, I am your new First officer. The Captain has asked me to introduce myself to you all so in the course of this short briefing, I am doing just that. I will however keep this as brief as I can as I am sure that you all have more important things to get back to. As you all know, our new mission orders have now arrived, we will be leaving Geneva tomorrow morning 0900 hrs precisely. Captain Ktell will be giving an in-depth briefing at 0700 hrs. I trust I do not have to stress everyone’s attendance at this briefing." ~So basically, you don’t know anything yet.~ "I am not currently aware of the exact mission details as it is still classified at this time. I however will need operational reports from all stations before we leave Geneva, any problems or anomalies with either equipment or crew, I want to know about it.” ~Yep! You don’t know anything yet.~ "Mr Orde, have you been brought up to speed on the experimental photon flux cannon?" Sensing the direction the meeting was taking, H’Chir amused himself by stretching his antennae in opposite directions, and enjoyed the startled non-looks he got from various others around the table. "Questions?" The voice snapped him back to attention. ~I have questions, but I don’t think you can answer them.~ Unfortunately, a quick look around the table indicated that was the general mood of the entire time. "Very well, we will all meet again tomorrow at 0700hrs. Dismissed." As one, the assembled officers stood and made their way to the doors. “Well, that’s twenty minutes of my life I’m not getting back!” grumbled the chief engineer before boarding the turbolift back down to his domain. (Reply none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Engineering – ACEO, Ensign Kyla Angeletti - 1550) The last mission the Spectre crew had endured had thrown Kyla directly into the reality of being a ranking Starfleet Official. She didn't mind that she had not had the chance to ease herself into her responsibilities aboard the Spectre. Kyla rather liked the idea that everyone just expected her to do what needed to be done, instead of treating her as if she were a complete imbecile. Though if anyone had, Angeletti probably would have played along, just to see how long they could go without blowing an artery. Kyla finished her remaining duties before the shift change. Now that things seemed to be back to normal aboard the Spectre, she felt something within her had changed. Kyla had been feeling dismal of late. When she wasn't busy with her duties she usually slept her time away. It wasn't that she was tired, she just didn't know what to do with herself. Kyla often thought maybe she should be more socially involved with her fellow crew members, but something was holding her back. Maybe she just needed some time to get used to things and the people around her. During the Academy, all Kyla had known was hard work, with little down time. She had made it a point not to stray too far from her studies. Her interest had always been to become a Starfleet Officer. She wanted nothing of the life her family had wanted her to live. With the completion of her shift, Kyla left Main Engineering. Her pace was steady, her eyes only left the ground to greet random passersby. She entered the turbolift, and didn't notice it had moved until the doors opened. Kyla felt her body relax as she came upon her quarters. The only light was star light flooding through the window panes. Kyla removed her uniform and draped it over a nearby chair. Still wearing the clothing she had worn under her uniform, she sat indian style on the floor, her head in her hands. Suprisingly, her mind wasn't overrun with nagging thoughts, as it had been the past few. In her contentment, Kyla laid back onto the floor of her quarters, and took in a deep breath. She rolled on her side as the breath slowly escaped her. Sleep overcame her as she lay silently in the soft pool of star light. (Reply none) (Posted by Sondra) (USS Spectre, Outside Counsellor's Suite - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1559) The tour was actually informative; Remae made a note of the new sections of the ship that had been retrofitted including the new Strategic Operations Centre that replaced the Marines section, the CO couldn't help but be happy about that. The new warp core seemed to be operating well, the new sickbay was actually larger than before, the science labs and research areas were also larger and seemed to actually be used. The ship was ready. He pressed the enunciator to the Counsellor's Office door, it was most likely he was done with the FO briefing and when the call to come inside was heard, he walked in. (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1601) Remae's mind flashed back to the last time he was in an office of a Counsellor, it was on the Mystique and he was under the care of Doctor Mias. The Bajoran actually liked and appreciated what the Counsellor had tried to do for him, but if anything, it had made things worse. Remae's investigations after that into the report the Doctor had filed had confirmed what he had known. Of course, the report wasn't for his eyes but he still knew enough people to be able to pull some strings, every now and then. He recalled the report: 'Senior Counsellor's report on Captain Remae Ktell by Senior Counsellor Riven Mias, USS Mystique; Stardate: 2406.11.06: I am convinced that Captain Ktell has undergone a traumatic experience during his disappearance and subsequent re-emergence after the time frame in question, whatever he underwent while in Cardassian custody has been tightly locked up behind an effective memory block placed there.' ~ Ah yes, Gul Dulon ~ Remae had nearly forgotten the experience he had on Cardassia Prime, when he had been tortured and nearly killed; perhaps he just wanted to forget. 'When attempting to telepathically probe his mind in an effort to uncover those past events I came up against one of the nastiest blocks I have ever dealt with, in attempting to alleviate it I nearly lost the patient to a psychotic event or coma, I am not sure which as attempts to pull him out were successful.' That report had been made public to Doctors and Counsellors that had been assigned to the Spectre over those months, Remae trusted his officers not to gossip about their CO but he was still uneasy about his personal problems being made public. "Counsellor,” said Remae and he entered the offices of Counsellor Lronen. Truth be told, Remae had gotten used to this Counsellor being around, he had helped a great deal in the last mission, his thoughts and suggestions were useful and Divon had gone out on a limb on his behalf. Remae took a seat while he waited for the Counsellor to begin the session. ~ Here we go again ~ (Reply from Lronen, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1602)   Divon watched as Ktell came in to his office. He was skeptical about a good many things, one was that the 'nice guy' counsellor routine worked on a ship of war. Divon wasn't as patient as some of his fellow counsellors were, and he wasn't as much into the 'touchy feely' crap that seemed to be the hallmark of most of the people in his line of work. He figured that had to do with the Bajoran openness he had been accustomed to growing up. When dealing with a child, or a civilian, Divon could be surprising tender, when dealing with a Starfleet officer who didn't want to be examined, he could be remarkably abrupt.   "Counsellor," stated Ktell. Already, Divon was somewhat impressed, first Ktell had actually arrived on time for an appointment he didn't want. Secondly, he was actually being civil about an examination he didn't want.   "Please, Captain, sit down. I'm going to start out by being rather honest here. I'm not sure if you've noticed but I'm not exactly like other counsellors. I rarely go for that fuzzy feeling stuff. I have a job to do, part of it involves my deciding on your fitness of duty and part of it involves my helping you... if you're willing to accept it. I don't invade minds without either being invited or ordered as a general rule, at least not beyond the general surface nonsense. I guess what I'm saying is, the more straightforward we are with each other, the easier things will go. If I feel like you're feeding me a line of crap, I'll tell you. What you tell me is priviledged, not even Starfleet Command gets it unless it will somehow negatively affect your duty or prove dangerous to Starfleet or her officers and crew. Clear?"   (reply Ktell)   "Alright, my first question is rather straightforward. Why have you been avoiding talking to me in this capacity? What is it you're afraid I'll find?" asked Divon. He then waited for a response. Divon knew that this would give him an indication as to how difficult this session would be, and how difficult he would have to be as a result. Divon was more than prepared to dig his heals in.   (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1605) "Alright, my first question is rather straightforward. Why have you been avoiding talking to me in this capacity? What is it you're afraid I'll find?" asked Divon. Remae’s back was up, but he appreciated the direct question and he had to get this sorted out once and for all, he kept his anger in check and started to speak… Stardate: 2406.11.03 Remae was recalling some of the events that had led him to be in this office, with another Counsellor and the first thing that came to mind… (USS Mystique, Counselling Office - Commander Remae Ktell - 1405) "The file shows that supporters inside the highest levels of the 52nd command are convening a hearing, finally, it has come after all these years. Up to this point, I had protection from another Vulcan, Kriller, but now he's disappeared and I can't get a hold of him. It's like he's been taken out just so these people can get to me now. Well, I am not giving them the satisfaction." "I've had it, the hell with Starfleet,” Remae pulled his pips off and threw them onto the table, "For years I've served and now, this. I can't take it anymore." Remae remembered that, telling the Counsellor on the Mystique what he could do with his sessions… then, he remembered something else. Stardate: 2406.11.06 "The Spectre is on her way to rendezvous with the Mystique, my time and the time of the Spectre crew joining the Mystique's is coming to an end, and I, erm, well, wanted to take a moment before I left to say I appreciated your efforts but I am not ready to find out the truth of what happened to me. I have to focus once again on my command responsibilities to the Spectre and her crew,” his voice trailed off. This time, he was saying goodbye to Counsellor Mias, even though they hadn’t gotten very far, Remae appreciated what he had tried to do for him. "The truth is,” he said pausing for a moment, "... I'm scared of finding out what happened to me and I am not ready to find out. But I was hoping that, when I am, I can avail myself of your services?" Stardate: 2406.11.10 (Starbase Geneva, Admiral's Office - Captain Remae Ktell - 1930) "Further, you will notice that I've sent you a data file. It contains everything you will want to know about why you were taken off duty and placed under Captain Winter's command. Further questions can be routed to me later. God Speed." More remembered information, this time, Admiral LoDona send him a file on why he was demoted and moved to Commander of the Mystique, the file indicated that they didn’t trust him and after all those years and after the loss of the Spectre and the fact that he was captured by the Cardassia Union. (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1606) “Fear, Counsellor… being afraid of the truth, that is why I’ve avoided you,” Remae was now standing and looking at the small window on the stars. “Conspiring Starfleet Officers, a data file indicating something more happened to me that anyone is prepared to admit, a powerful block in my memory stopping anyone getting to the truth and finally, what you may find can’t be good… won’t be something that I would want to know will it?” asked Remae. (Reply from Divon) “Anyway, you wanted to know why and there it is,” he sat down again, “The block in my memory can’t be forced open, not even by the strongest telepaths, the trust has been lost over the years that even I can’t remember what happened anymore save beyond the Spectre being lost, being captured and tortured by Dulon and every increasing insanity of my actions, culminating in abandoning my Chief Science Officer in a medical facility that I too was at, and whatever they did to me there.” Remae shook his head. “I need the truth Doctor, finally, once and for all… closure,” he said trailing off and returning to his memories of the past, confused and fragmented as they were. (Reply from Divon) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1607)   Divon looked at the Captain and felt the full range of emotions course through him. ~Common for someone avoiding something.~ Divon thought to himself.   “Conspiring Starfleet Officers, a data file indicating something more happened to me that anyone is prepared to admit, a powerful block in my memory stopping anyone getting to the truth and finally, what you may find can’t be good… won’t be something that I would want to know will it?” asked Remae. Divon nodded, "If you would have wanted to know it, you wouldn't have submerged it so deeply. However, it obviously bothers you not knowing." “Anyway, you wanted to know why and there it is,” he sat down again, “The block in my memory can’t be forced open, not even by the strongest telepaths, the trust has been lost over the years that even I can’t remember what happened anymore save beyond the Spectre being lost, being captured and tortured by Dulon and every increasing insanity of my actions, culminating in abandoning my Chief Science Officer in a medical facility that I too was at, and whatever they did to me there.” Remae shook his head. “I need the truth Doctor, finally, once and for all… closure,” he said trailing off and returning to his memories of the past, confused and fragmented as they were. Divon nodded again and continued thoughtfully, "You have to realise, that there is no quick fix. I could try, and be just unsuccessful trying to drag the memories out telepathically. This is something you'll have to work through given time. However, I still don't believe you pose a threat to Starfleet and I do believe you're capable and fit for command. We may have to start with some more... rudimentary... methods so I can get a better handle on your subconscious and go from there. I'd like your permission to scan your surface thoughts as I do so. Sometimes patients don't say the first thing that comes to their mind for fear of what I'll think of them. I do want you to know though, if you're uncomfortable with that idea, then I won't. This is going to take time and effort on both our parts."   (reply Ktell)   "So are you ready to proceed?"   (reply Ktell) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1609) Remae was in the session with the Counsellor and he was listening to the ground rules that the Counsellor was laying down, he was coming to realise that this was going to take time, and that these sessions were going to become a regular part of his life. "You have to realise, that there is no quick fix. I could try, and be just unsuccessful trying to drag the memories out telepathically. This is something you'll have to work through given time. However, I still don't believe you pose a threat to Starfleet and I do believe you're capable and fit for command. This is going to take time and effort on both our parts,” said Divon. "I see, Counsellor,” said Remae, taking in the sheer scope of what the Counsellor was proposing. "So are you ready to proceed?” he asked and Remae nodded at his direction wondering what he had in mind. (Reply from Lronen) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1609) H’Chir growled inwardly. When he decided to ride out the duration of the refit onboard the Spectre, he had expected to finally be free from the ever-present lop-sided grin of Lieutenant Banowsky, the starship’s Operations Officer. Unfortunately, with an equal amount of upgrading being done to the ship’s operating systems, Banowsky had also opted to remain aboard and so the Andorian had found him alone aboard the ship with noone else for company but the faceless bureaucrats who’d dreamed up the refit, the mindless automatons intent on carrying it out – regardless of the practicalities – and that damned nuisance Banowsky! Having just spent twenty minutes flexing his antennae and trying not to look at the Operations Officer, H’Chir was glad to return to Engineering. His final report on the refit and the Spectre’s upgraded systems and capabilities was almost finished and his mind was at last becoming free to return to long buried personal projects. He was enjoying running several equations regarding phase variance through his head whilst the ship’s computer ran a faster, more thorough check through a simulated environment when he heard the doors swoosh open. There was a menacing edge to the sound, which H’Chir swore was never there when anyone else entered Engineering, and sure enough his suspicions were confirmed when he heard: "Ensign H’Chir, how would you like to help me show our new FO Engineering?" Stifling the growl so that it emerged as little more than a grunt, H’Chir made an effort to appear personable to the First Officer. A difficult task following his vague and lacklustre meeting, coupled with his further intrusion upon the Andorian’s valuable time. Marching through the main concourse, H’Chir the names of several key components (the most easily visible and recognisable ones) as he walked past them: “Warp core, deuterium injectors, phase coils, cloaking device, primary conduits…” the names rattled out one after the other and within seconds H’Chir had completed his circuit of the room. Flashing a triumphant smile at the First Officer, and completely ignoring the Second, he added “That’s just about everything. Was there something specific you had in mind?” (Reply T’Vhor, Banowsky, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – First Officer T’Vhor – 1609) ~So you were the source of the strong emotions I felt, are Andorians always like this?~ The First Officer had not had a great deal of experience of this particular species but what he had experienced had been good in the past. Until now.... Ensign H’Chir seemed now to be experiencing some degree of frustration at the two mens sudden arrival in Engineering & as he walked off in responce to the 20’s request for assistance, T’Vhor felt a distinct unease in the Andorian at Banowsky’s presence also. "Warp core, deuterium injectors, phase coils, cloaking device, primary conduits", said H’Chir as he paced through the engineering coridoor in an almost aggressive manner. "That’s just about everything. Was there something specific you had in mind?” said H’Chir. T’Vhor raised an eyebrow & turned to look the CEO directly in the face. "I have had slower & more informed tours of Engineering Ensign", said T’Vhor, "yours was logical in that everything you mentioned was there & in it’s correct place", he added. "You do however appear to be somewhat agitated, I will return for a more informative.......discussion when you are able to converse in a less heated manner", said T’Vhor. (Reply H’Chir) The First Officer then turned & walked towards the engineering exit flanked by a rather bewildered looking twenty. Before leaving though the FO turned briefly to face the CEO once again. "I am sorry that my briefing was not as.....,” said T’Vhor pausing now to chose his words wisely. ".....Informative as you might have wished", he added thinking back to the meeting & the negative impressions he had been picking up from one of the assembled crewmembers therein. At the time, T’Vhor had not been sure of who it had been. The Andorian Engineer however had just inadvertently confirmed it’s source... (Reply H’Chir, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1610) The new First Officer turned to face him, and not for the first time H’Chir was glad of his towering stature. Locking his gaze on the Lieutenant’s, and bringing his antennae forward in a clear gesture of defiance H’Chir braced himself for battle. “I have had slower and more informative tours of Engineering, Ensign. Yours was logical in that everything you mentioned was there and in its correct place.” "You do however appear to be somewhat agitated, I will return for a more informative... discussion when you are able to converse in a less heated manner.” ~I wouldn’t hold your breath!~ The two senior officers headed for the door, the one serenely calm, the other completely baffled. The Vulcan stopped long enough to add: "I am sorry that my briefing was not as... informative as you might have wished" and then he was gone. H’Chir’s eyes narrowed and within seconds of the doors closing he was marching towards them, calling over his shoulder, “I’m going out!” (Reply any in Engineering iyw) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1612)   Divon nodded at the Captain and looked at him thoughtfully. "To start with, we're not doing anything different than what I'd do with any other psych evaluation. I'd like you to look at the monitor in front of you please."   (Reply Ktell iyw)   "Now, Captain, please look at each picture as they come onto the screen. "To start with, we're not doing anything different than what I'd do with any other psych evaluation. I follow a standard procedure, heavy on your participation and light on me doing anything but listening. It's an old method, but I believe a good one. I'd like you to look at the monitor in front of you please." "Very well,” he said, tapping the screen on. "Now, Captain, please look at each picture as they come onto the screen. In the case of the more abstract pictures, tell me what you see in them. In the case of the more concrete picture, tell me what you believe is happening in the picture and why. Do you understand?" asked Divon. He simply nodded at the Counsellor, wondering what he had in store for him. "Now, begin." stated Divon and Remae looked at the screen as the first image with the catchy file name of 'rorschach' appeared. "Intriguing,” said Remae as he spent a moment looking into the depths of the image. "I see a figure, female in the centre of the image, to be honest with your she has a striking similarity to Captain Jana Bell, someone I once knew,” he drifted off for a moment as he realised that Jana, the one he knew was off in another universe and if there was a Jana in this one, they probably never met. "The image behind her looks like the opening to the Bajoran wormhole, catching her and keeping her away from me but I also get the feeling, keeping her safe as well." Remae wasn't sure if that made any sense but then the picture changed. The second image appeared to be a drawing, this must be the 'concrete picture' mentioned. "Looks like a bed, the lights on, it must be night and the owner of the bed has been called away for an emergency of some kind, it must have been serious, the light was left on,” said Remae as the next image appeared. "Magnify,” said Remae, the image seemed smaller than the rest and he had trouble making out the details. "To me, that image seems to show the two sides of this war, on one side, I see Admiral Doenitz and on the other, Admiral LoDona and us in the middle, trying to save worlds from coming apart." The screen went blank as Remae looked up at the Counsellor. "Well, any insights into the soul Mr Lronen?” Remae said waiting for the Counsellor to speak once more. (Reply from Lronen) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Holodeck 3 – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1616) Pacing up and down within the confined space, H’Chir stewed. His skin flushed a vibrant blue, and each step he took only brought his sense of violent frustration further to the fore. Breathing hard he crossed the floor again before releasing a rage-fuelled yell and bringing his arm crashing down in a hard, swift arc. The USS Spectre cracked in two and fell to the floor. “Computer, reset program,” he snarled through gritted teeth. The image of the Spectre vanished from the floor, and returned once more to the centre of the room. “Engage phase cloak,” he ordered and the ship rippled and was gone. For no reason that he could pinpoint he paused for a moment before adding, “Engage secondary cloaking device.” In the place where the USS Spectre had been, a smaller ship rippled into being. Closer inspection showed it to be a shuttlecraft and H’Chir knew… He knew that if you were to measure it precisely that shuttle would never have left its mother-ship. ~It will work!~ (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1625)   Divon looked at his captain and nodded slowly. Yes, there had been insights. There had been many things, many possibilities.   "Captain... tell me about this Jana Bell. I don't believe I have ever heard of a captain by that name. Of course, I haven't been around for an overly long time," asked Divon earnestly. The memory seemed to bring Ktell pain. Pain of loss, pain of error...or at least perceived error.   (Reply Ktell)   Divon looked at the man, attempting to quell his surprise. "You mentioned the wormhole keeping her away from you... as a barrier. Do you feel that fate has treated you unkindly? That other happenstances have somehow negatively affected your life?" Divon felt that he was starting to already see some trends that could explain a tendancy towards self destruction exhibited by the Captain of this vessel. It still would not restrict him from duty, but it gave a starting point for treatment. The memories might surface if enough other personal blocks were removed. In the end, this might not require a telepath, but good old fashioned psychology.   (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 1630) "Captain... tell me about this Jana Bell. I don't believe I have ever heard of a captain by that name. Of course, I haven't been around for an overly long time." Remae wasn't surprised that Divon hadn't heard about her, from what he could see, she didn't enter Starfleet in this dimension. "In another universe, she was someone I served with on the USS Spectre when her former Captain Ro Kaelyn was in Command, before long, we'd become close but in those days and this was several years ago, Counsellor, Starfleet was busy making a presence for itself at the Bajoran Sector, a number of Spectre class ships were launched and she became CO of the USS Wraith and we lost contact for the most part,” Remae thought for a moment. "She is in the other dimension now, and I can't get back to her to resume where we left on and I have to live with that,” said Remae not prepared to go into anymore details. "You mentioned the wormhole keeping her away from you... as a barrier. Do you feel that fate has treated you unkindly? That other happenstances have somehow negatively affected your life?” asked Divon. "Well, it's not exactly fair is it? Not only, since the loss of the Spectre at Cardassia Prime, Starfleet has been determined to make me pay for what happened, court marshal after court marshal has been scheduled and then put off. and then my command was taken and then restored." "On top of that, I've been pushed through not one, but two universes. Different dimensions where the rules are different, I've been in touch with the Prophets, Q has messed with my life, friends long dead and then resurrected in different dimensions,” Remae came to an end of the history of his life, there was a lot more but he wasn't going to go into details. "The wormhole and the Prophets, I was the largest unbeliever of the Prophets and I was convinced they were nothing more than Wormhole Aliens, exactly as Starfleet sees them but, over the years, I am not so sure but yes, I am still unhappy with their interference in my life when they feel like it and now when I need some help, they could have returned me to my time but they've kept out of it,” he said, considering new ideas for the first time, perhaps he had just buried all those feelings over they years. ". and there is of course, Cardassia Prime and Gul Dulon,” said Remae before adding, "You have the records on that and I can't tell you anymore,” he said coming to a close. His thoughts waved over the separation of the Spectre when the Engineering Section of the Spectre was exploded with force from the Saucer Section. and the First Officer, Susan Rivers took the Saucer not before Remae went on his own, to confront the madman Gul Dulon before he could get his ships to the Saucer Section. Luckily, Susan and the Saucer were rescued by the USS Nimitz but not before Dulon captured, tortured and then, was rescued by the USS Athene and Admiral Kriller. Remae wondered what the Counsellor was planning to do next. (Reply from Lronen) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1639)   Divon listened carefully and then nodded slowly. This was definitely a troubled man. There were several problems that needed to be explored. Divon was fairly confident that he could be helped.   "I do understand your anger. I'm sure I would be angry myself. I'd like to tell you that I understand, however, what you've been going through. It lies so far outside of my personal experience, I'd be lying if I told you that. I do believe, that in addition to whatever happened to you at the hands of Gul Dulon, the other issues in your life are causing difficulty and distress as well. I can see a vast number of horrible circumstances causing a huge disruption in your life. I will ask you however, and understand I'm just asking if you answer in the negative I do understand, is there nothing good that you can see about your life now?" asked Divon. This was when he had to gauge whether or not the Captain was behaving in a self destructive manner. Whether or not his past was so littered with pain that he was willing to put himself, others and his ship at risk. This is the meat of what Starfleet wanted him to get at.   (Reply Ktell)   Divon looked at the man and nodded, "How do you feel about Cardassians now?"   (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Quarters - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1742)   Divon knew it was not quite 1800, and much too early to sleep, but he'd been going steadily all day. A nap suited him. During his time on Geneva he had been able to effectively close down his mind. He had no duties to 'feel out' the crew's emotions. His time on the station had been in blissful silence, with the exception of Sabine of course. Now, he'd been on the ship only a few hours and had to open his defences only slightly. That had caused a rush of emotional responses that ran the gambit from fear to happiness. Divon found these emotions both intriguing and annoying. It annoyed him how closed minded species refused to say what was on their minds despite the fact it would give them more peace of mind. It annoyed him even more that most of the thoughts and feelings of those same species were completely self serving with little or no actual regard for others. In truth, these things could make a counsellor cynical, or at least give him one heck of a migraine. It was with that migraine, after the Captain's session, that Divon decided to lay down for awhile, erecting his mental defenses more strongly.   Divon had only been down for a short period of time when his door chime sounded. Rolling over, he tried to ignore the sound, blocking out everything he could. Then, it sounded again... and again... ~Here's another one of those self serving types,~ Divon thought to himself. Finally, he got up and slung on a robe to answer the door. It slid open to a show a rather annoyed Andorian.   "What is it you want?" Divon said with abruptness.   The man pushed past him and directly into his quarters. “You’re a telepath, right?” "The last time I checked, and you're a rude engineer, right?" Divon said blandly, his head still pounding. H’Chir made a ridiculous face and continued, “Don’t you people have rules about using that sort of thing?”   "Why yes, as a matter of fact we do. And don't YOU people have rules about bursting into other people's quarters unannounced? Now, either calm down and tell me what the problem is, or leave and return when you're calm enough to do so. I really am not in the mood to play games," Divon stated equally calmly, rubbing his temples in a vain attempt to alleviate his pain. Divon tried to think back as to when he might have violated this man's mind in some way, shape or form. He couldn't. That could only mean he was upset about another telepath. (Reply H’Chir) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor’s Quarters – CEO, Ensign H’Chir – 1744) He pressed the door-chime for what seemed like the millionth time, and finally someone answered. (Reply Lronen) Pushing past counsellor, H’Chir barged into the quarters and continued the pacing his feet had been aching to do ever since he’d stopped outside that door. "Welcome,” said Remae as T'Vhor entered his personal dinning room, another one of the recent ship updated, the CO hadn't made a lot of use of it until now. for some reason, Remae had been assigned a steward and although he didn't really wanted to be waited on, he appreciated not having to prepare a welcome FO dinner on his own. (Reply from T'Vhor) The main course was brought in and Remae helped himself to a drink, "I've asked for a selection of dinners from Bajor, T'Vhor, including some Bajoran Spring Wine which is damn hard to get at the moment,” with irritation in his voice. He would like nothing more than to turn the ship towards Bajor and liberate them, but orders were orders. (Reply from T'Vhor) "So, tell me a little about yourself,” said Remae as he bit into his Hasperat. (Reply from T'Vhor) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Captain's Mess - First Officer T’Vhor - 2001) Punctuality had always been one of T’Vhor’s strong points. Unless he could help it, he always tried to be on time for an appointment & this evening was no different. Standing at the door to the Captains mess however, he pressed the chime & waited for an answer. Surprisingly, the answer came almost immediately as the CO bade him enter. "Welcome,” said the Captain as he ushered the First Officer into the room & bade him sit at the arranged table. "Thank you sir, it is an honour to be invited to dine with you", said T’Vhor just as a steward appeared from nowhere to place two meals before each of the now seated men, as the Captain drank from the glass in his hand. "I've asked for a selection of dinners from Bajor, T'Vhor, including some Bajoran Spring Wine which is damn hard to get at the moment,” said the Captain with a frown. "I am greatful of your efforts sir, I have not tasted Bajoran spring wine in a long time, it will be most welcome", said T’Vhor as the steward then poured a glass of the aforementioned beverage for him. Of course being part empath himself the First Officer couldn’t help but sense the apparent sadness that had seemed to fill the Captains mind at that precise moment. There seemed to be so much pain in his mind that it was hard to block. "Is everything ok sir?” said T’Vhor. (Reply Ktell) "I have harsh memories of the Cardassian occupation of Bajor also sir", said T’Vhor, "I myself use various Vulcan techniques to control the emotions that sometimes surface within me", he added. "Perhaps I may teach you the way of achieving Venlinahr", said T’Vhor. (Reply Ktell) "As First Officer of this vessel, it is my duty to ensure that my Captain is helped in any way I may help him sir", said T’Vhor. (Reply Ktell) The Captain then fell silent for a brief moment as though contemplating once again. "So, tell me a little about yourself,” he said all of a sudden changing the subject. "Everything you would need to know is contained in my Starfleet record sir", said T’Vhor as he began eating the food that had been placed before him. "Unless of course what you enquire of is of a time when I was not a Starfleet officer", he added. "In which case sir, we would probably need a lot more time than we have now for me to explain the events that have led me to this point", said T’Vhor. (Reply Ktell) The First Officer took another bite of the delicacy on his plate & then another sip of the spring wine as the Captain answered. The talk then continued on regarding T’Vhor’s past time on Bajor as a resistance fighter protecting the people of Bajor, an obvious commonality surfacing amongst them both as they talked. It was clear that the Captain missed his homeworld a great deal but there was still something within his mind that seemed almost imperviously locked. What it was however eluded T’Vhor completely. The talk then progressed first to T’Vhors time on the Cochrane under Captain Lowell & then finally on to their new mission as they finished their meals & then refilled their glasses once again with spring wine. "Sir, I am curious as to why Starfleet command are withholding our mission details from us until the very last moment", said T’Vhor, "this does not imply confidence in our ships internal security", he added. (Reply Ktell) "Are we to assume then that there may be forces loyal to Admiral Doenitz much closer to home then sir", said T’Vhor. (Reply Ktell) "Of course sir, I understand", said the First Officer as he drank a little more of the rare wine from the glass. By the end of the evening, the two men clearly seemed a little more at ease than they had been at the start & T’Vhor senced a more quiet, calm state within the Captains mind. It seemed a good time then to close the evening & so he stood & thanked him for the excellent meal & discussion. Then he turned & walked to the door. "I will see you at tomorrows briefing then sir", said T’Vhor looking back to the Captain as he sat in the comfortable chair he had occupied for most of the evening. "Sir?” said T’Vhor questioning the Captains sudden lack of response only to notice then that he had actually fallen asleep. It was just as well thought T’Vhor, the Captain needed to sleep & he hoped he would have a restful one at that as he walked quietly from the room & headed off for his own quarters. (Reply Ktell) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Observation Lounge – StratOps, Commander Tahlmari - 0653)   Tahl sat at the table of the observation lounge waiting for the meeting to start. He’d had a fairly sleepless night, another in a long line. He'd spent most of the time getting his holographic imaging system running properly. He was pretty sure, with the information he'd been given, that they were going to need it. He leaned over the table and smiled at Lronen.   "Counsellor, you look a little vexed this morning," he said. "Is there a problem?"   (Reply Lronen)   He was pretty sure that the counsellor would figure out the problem with the turbo lifts fairly soon. Then the captain arrived and began his briefing. He pulled up a map and showed the staff where they were heading and that other ships were heading there to meet with them. Tahl already knew this information, and had even gone over the map with the CO this morning in preparation.   Tahl felt that Remae believed that Tahl had more information than he was letting on. The truth was, that he did not. But he did have some pretty strong ideas, from what he did know. He did not want to give these suggestions to Remae at this time. It was best to remain, apparently, ignorant. Besides, when he was contacted by Captain Lee, he requested not to be told, so that he could not lie to Remae when asked what he knew.   "We're departing at 0900, does anyone have any questions?"   Tahl looked around the room, because some of those questions would come to him as well as the CO. When Remae dismissed the crew, he left the room immediately. Tahl would have liked an opportunity to chat with the CO, but it was pretty clear he had nothing to say to him.   He sighed, gathered up his data and headed for his office.   (Reply Lronen, any) (Posted by Al Muir) (USS Spectre, Observation Lounge - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 0655) The CO had called the meeting, although he wasn't suppose to reveal their orders until they were underway, Remae decided that some of details of the sparse orders to the crew. "Thanks for coming everyone, I know you have a lot to do and I will make this brief." Remae brought up a map of the local area and a line that indicated the course of the Spectre, the line came to a halt and the screen zoomed in on that point. "Our orders are to proceed to this point and await further instructions. That’s all I have from Command,” Remae sounded the note of annoyance with the lack of details. "This point here, indicated the current border between the faction's territory. I can only assume were going to patrol this area with other ships we're going to meet up with." The screen zoomed out to show the converging lines of ships approaching the same spot as the Spectre. "There are several ships converging on that point and then we're going to join them,” said Remae sitting down. "That's it and that's all I know, although I could make a few guesses why we're being sent here, I'd rather wait for further communication from Admiral LoDona. We're departing at 0900, does anyone have any questions?" Remae sat back and waited for anyone to say anything. he didn't expect a lot, due to the lack of information. That coupled with the fact I have 15 appointments before 1400 today hasn't exactly started my day out properly. Those idiots at the shipyards obviously screwed something up in the turbolift. Has anyone else had this problem?" asked Divon loudly enough so everyone else could here.   (Reply any at meeting)   It was then that Divon sensed it from Tahl... what was it? Happiness? Amusement! Glee! Divon's memory shot back to the conversation about practical jokes during Tahl's session. Divon suppressed his smile. He knew what was going on now, but would have to keep it close at hand. Revenge would be sweet, but must come without notice. Divon took his seat and started tapping keys on his PADD to view the appointments for the day. At least he wouldn't have to take the turbolift to get to the bridge for disembarking.   (Reply any) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Observation Lounge – StratOps, Commander Tahlmari - 0658)   Tahl had a very hard time containing his smile as the counselor recounted his morning. He also knew that he was giving himself away to the empath. But Lronen was pretty intelligent, and it wouldn't have taken him long anyway. Then he looked up to see a gleam in the counselor's eyes. Not anger, but one of mischief.   Tahl was suddenly worried. This counselor had a very mischievious side. He was afraid that he may have just woken it up. This was going to prove to be a most interesting time. "Our orders are to proceed this point and await further instructions. That's all I have from Command." There was a clear look of disbelief being mirrored on the faces of most of those present, unable to accept the vague nature of their assignment. Nonetheless the captain continued with what he knew: "This point here, indicates the current border between the factions’ territory. I can only assume were going to patrol this area with other ships we're going to meet up with." The screen zoomed out to show the converging lines of ships approaching the same spot as the Spectre, although H’Chir noted that no information was given on those ships either. ~Not even their classes… I mean, are we being hooked up to a heavy cruiser wing, or a convoy, or what?~ "There are several ships converging on that point and then we're going to join them. Once the ship had entered warp and accelerated to her desired velocity, Remae checked the ETA to the border, it was going to take a few days to get there, and that would be ample time for the crew to settle in with their new systems. "Bridge to all stations, report status & prepare for warp", said T’Vhor glancing down to the status display set into the right hand armrest of the chair to see that all stations were now reporting in as ready. "All stations are reporting as optimal & ready Captain", said T’Vhor. The Captain turned to the first officer & duly acknowledged him, then he turned to face the viewscreen again. "Take us out,” said the Captain. "Aye sir", said T’Vhor. "Conn, heading three four one mark two nine", he added, the conn officer entering the coordinates into the navigational computer before confirming their heading as set. The Spectre quickly came about to the required heading & then slowly moved off under impulse for a few short seconds. "Engage when ready, warp seven", said the First officer & the ship then left the vicinity of the Geneva locale with a streaking blur of light to go to it’s normal cruising speed of warp seven. He punched a few keys on his station armrest and brought up regional information on native species living along their path to their final destination. Divon glanced over at Ktell, who was immersed in his work.   "Sir, there is a lot of apprehension right now. It's so palpitable that I'm sure you can sense it as well. We have 53 crew members who have family serving under Doenitz's command on various ships. I would say their biggest concern is that we actually do find the enemy. The turbolift doors opened as she approached, and a yawn escaped her as she stepped inside. "Deck 12." Kyla leaned back against the wall of the turbolift as it began to move. When she felt it come to a halt, she stood once again of her own accord. As the doors opened Kyla stepped forward, but immediately stopped upon her realization that the corridor beyond the turbolift was unfamiliar. Curiously, she poked her head out of the turbolift and looked in both directions of corridor. Seeing still no signs of familiarity, Angeletti returned her head to the inside of the turbolift, and once again the doors closed. A moment of silence passed. "Deck 12." The turbolift began moving again. Yet again the doors opened on unfamiliar territory. "Uh. Computer, I want to go to deck 12," Kyla snapped firmly. The turbolift resumed movement, but still did not deliver its passenger to the correct destination. "Computer, what deck is this turbolift currently halted on?” she asked, somewhat confused. ::This turbolift is currently on deck 6.:: "Lovely! Would you mind taking me to the correct deck now?!" ::Please state destination.:: Kyla's rage was beginning to get the best of her. "Deck 12!!" When the doors slid opened, Kyla sighed in relief. "It's about time, computer." She then made her way to main engineering where she found H’Chir anxiously awaiting her, and he didn't look too thrilled!! "I'm sorry it took me all morning to get here," Angeletti said with more than a hint of annoyance. "I think that turbolift has some kind of 'officer who is supposed to be on duty' fetish." (Reply H’Chir) (Posted by Sondra) (USS Spectre, Bridge - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 0922)   After they had cleared the moorings and began towards their destination, Divon looked at the time. "Sir, I have appointments starting soon. Permission to leave the bridge?" He said this aloud so both the Captain and the First Officer could hear. He hoped one of them would release him.   (Reply Ktell or T'Vhor)   "Thank you Sir. Incidentally, Commander T'Vhor, please schedule in your psychiatric examination. It is mandatory for all officers and crew joining the ship," with that he nodded politely and walked to an area of the floor off to one side of the bridge. With the bridge crew looking on with a combination of amusement and horror, he opened up the access panel to the Jeffries tubes and began to climb in.   (Reply any who wants)   In response to muttered queries and strange looks Divon again spoke out, keeping his face an passionless mask and behaving like this was what he did every day, "I told you, the turbolift isn't working right for me and I have people waiting on me. I'm betting something is wrong with the programming. I'd very much appreciate it if you could have an engineer have a look, I'm sure Commander Tahlmari would be an invaluable aid as well." As Divon said this, he shot a sideways glance to the Strategical Operations Officer and hoisted himself down into the tubes and began climbing down to the deck housing his office.   (Reply any) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Bridge - First Officer T’Vhor - 0922) With the Spectre now well & truly underway, the bridge crew set about the routine running of a starship & that included some of them leaving the bridge to carry out further duties. The counsellor in particular looked eager to get on with things & the tone of his voice backed this up. "Sir, I have appointments starting soon. Permission to leave the bridge?” said Divon. The First Officer turned towards him as he spoke & then immediately granted the man’s request. "Of course counsellor", said T’Vhor, "please continue on" "Thank you Sir", said the Counsellor, "Incidentally, Commander T'Vhor, please schedule in your psychiatric examination. It is mandatory for all officers and crew joining the ship," he added & then promptly headed off to climb into one of the bridge access ways. T’Vhor looked to the CO with a somewhat puzzled expression & then turning towards him, he posed a purely rhetorical question. "Sir, perhaps the counsellor might need some counselling himself", said T’Vhor as the Captain & the rest of the bridge crew looked on in bewilderment. "I told you", said the Counsellor in a slightly hassled tone of voice, "the turbolift isn't working right for me and I have people waiting on me", he added. "I'm betting something is wrong with the programming. I'd very much appreciate it if you could have an engineer have a look, I'm sure Commander Tahlmari would be an invaluable aid as well,” he added, before finally disappearing out of sight. T’Vhor turned to look at Tahl, then the CO in turn. "Is the councellor implying that you might know something about this Commander?” said the First Officer. (Reply Tahlmari) "I’ll have an engineer look into the problem sir", said T’Vhor turning to the Captain, "Perhaps you might like to assist as the councellor suggested Commander", he added directing his suggestion to the still smiling commander sitting at his station. (Reply Tahl, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – ACEO, Ensign Kyla Angeletti - 0926) Frustration and annoyance were setting as Kyla hurriedly typed in commands to scan the computer for errors involving the turbolifts. She had been greatly perturbed when, that morning, the turbolift doors opened to "deck 12." Maybe she hadn't said deck 12.... but she was sure that was the deck she had requested. By the time the doors had opened to reveal the requested deck's corridor, she was 15 minutes behind schedule, and felt like biting a few heads off. She had, however held her peace, and was currently muttering obscenities as she worked, which she hoped no one else could hear. Through her 'rage' she still found the situation somewhat amusing, and an uncontrollable smile crept across her face. As Angeletti moved from one control panel to another she spotted Ensign Archie, who seemed every bit as busy as she. "Have you noticed any glitches in the turbolift command programs?" (Reply Archie) Kyla saw that she had startled him with her sudden inquiry. "Everything was running smoothly last time I reviewed all of the system scans. But, as I found out not too long ago, that isn't the case at all. Either that or the Spectre likes to take the occasional hostage! So far I haven't heard any other complaints. If you notice any pro..." Just as Kyla was requesting that Archie update her on any abnormalities he happened to noticed she heard one of the scans chime in to signal an unearthed error. Without finishing her comment to Grant, she walk over to the control panel that had interrupted her. "Why am I not suprised?" Her tone was lighthearted and comical. Kyla turned back to Grant, who was already back to whatever it was that he had been doing before. Assuming he probably wouldn't enjoy being interrupted from his work a second time, she said to no one in particular, "Isn't it amazing how a simple thing, like coding mistakes, can cause major problems?" =^=Ensign Angeletti to Captain Ktell. I'm regret to inform you that the turbolifts will have to be shut down temporarily. It seems someone was a little confused when the codes for the lifts to follow were set. It shouldn't be too long.=^= (Reply Remae iyw) Angeletti didn't mind a little 'busy work' now and then, even if it did seem ridiculous to her, and she immediately set to work on the problem at hand. (Reply Remae, Archie) (Posted by Sondra) (USS Spectre, Jeffries Tubes - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 0927)   Divon grunted as he climbed through the tubes towards Deck 10. It would be a long way and he knew it. ~At least I'm going down and not up. That would just be nasty.~ he thought as he continued to descend deeper into the ship. Divon knew that Tahl was the one responsible but he didn't let it trouble him. In fact, he chuckled as he descended decks. ~He'll get his... oh yes he will...~ Divon smiled wickedly as he continued.   Some time later, Divon finally crossed onto deck 10. He was perspiring fairly heavily, this had been, in essence a good workout. Opening the entrance hatch, Divon climbed into the hallway. He looked around and got his bearings. Sighing, he started down the hall and towards his office and walked in. (USS Spectre, Bridge - CO, Captain Remae Ktell - 0928) The FO had done his job and the Spectre was now underway and it wouldn't be too long before they reached the border but if Remae was expecting a quiet time of it. not as the Counsellor has left the Bridge via a crawl way, a call came in and so had the FO. Walking towards the sound of the beeps, T’Vhor noticed a young female Engineer busy at work on one of the opened up panels. "Ensign?” said T’Vhor not knowing the Ensigns name at this time as she turned about momentarily startled by his arrival. (Reply Angeletti) "I’m sorry if I startled you", said T’Vhor, "have you pinpointed the problem in the turbolift command path", he added. (Reply Angeletti) "Excellent work Ensign Angeletti, I’m sure the counsellor in particular will thank you personally for solving the problem", said T’Vhor as he walked over to the master systems display in the centre corridor of main engineering. "The new warp core seems to be functioning without problems", said T’Vhor, "it is a significant upgrade on the Spectres design fitment", he added. (Reply Angeletti) "I will leave engineering & the re-programming of the turbolift in your capable hands then Ensign", said the FO as he made tracks for the door with one somewhat painful thought now occupying his mind. Ensign Angeletti had reminded him of someone but he chose however to push aside the thought & continue on with his duties. (Reply Angeletti) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Bridge – StratOps, Commander Tahlmari - 0930)   Tahl sat at the new StratOps station that had been built to his specifications, enjoying, not only the fact that he could access his data base, but also overlay his display over the main view screen, in order to show deployment and position of starships, but also wallow in his little joke on the counselor. That was when everything started to go wrong.   He smiled slightly when Lronen announced that he had to leave the bridge and headed to a crawl way access portal. He managed to supress his grin as the counselor explained why he wasn't using the turbo lift. He couldn't quite come out and accuse the StratOps officer of his duplicity, but Tahl felt certain that the telepth' mind would like to bore into his own. Then Lronen dropped his bomb.   "I'm betting something is wrong with the programming." he suggested. "I'd very much appreciate it if you could have an engineer have a look, I'm sure Commander Tahlmari would be an invaluable aid as well." Tahl just about choked as he looked over to see T’Vhor turned to look at him, and then the CO. "Is the councellor implying that you might know something about this Commander?" said the First Officer. "He might be doing more than imply," Tahl said, barely holding back his smile. "However, sir, I will never admit to anything unless ordered to do so." "I'll have an engineer look into the problem sir", said T’Vhor turning to the Captain, "Perhaps you might like to assist as the councellor suggested Commander", he added directing his suggestion to the still smiling commander sitting at his station.   "What ever you say commander," Tahl nodded. (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – ACEO, Ensign Kyla Angeletti - 0931) "Ensign?” T’Vhor inquired. Kyla had been so deep in thought that she hadn't noticed the man's presence until he spoke. She felt as though her heart had skipped a beat at the suprise. She sincerely hoped he hadn't overheard any of her rantings as they could be considered rather offensive. Angeletti guessed by his rank that this must be the new FO, T’Vhor. "Ensign Angeletti, sir." Kyla thought she should offer a smile, but was to busy worrying about what the FO would say if he had heard some of the things that had come out of her mouth. "I’m sorry if I startled you", said T’Vhor, "have you pinpointed the problem in the turbolift command path", he added. "Yes. It seems that whoever entered the coding got a little mixed up. It's all there, but some of the codes are not in the correct order. Everything will have to be re-entered manually," she replied. "Excellent work Ensign Angeletti, I’m sure the counsellor in particular will thank you personally for solving the problem", said T’Vhor as he walked over to the master systems display in the centre corridor of main engineering. "The new warp core seems to be functioning without problems", said T’Vhor, "it is a significant upgrade on the Spectre's design fitment", he added. "Yes, sir. This new core seems to be 'the icing on the cake', so to speak, with the engineering officers." This time, feeling a bit more relaxed, she smiled. "I will leave engineering & the re-programming of the turbolift in your capable hands then Ensign", T’Vhor said as he moved away to exit main engineering. Angeletti only watched him take a few steps. She then turned her attention back to her work. (Reply from Tahl) "Anyway, now that the Spectre is on her way, I was wondering if you had any insights into recent events, I don't have the contacts I used to in Command, have you heard anything about this mission or anything that may be relevant?” asked Remae and added, "I don't want to put in you in an awkward position, this is not an order just a request." Remae sat back in his chair and sipped his tea. "I apologize, Captain, if my ... reprogramming has caused any inconveniences. It really is a simple matter to rectify." "Don't worry about that, Commander. However, I hear Lronen isn't to be crossed, you may have to watch your back!" Tahl smiled. "Well sir, I've never been known to be careless, and I always appreciate a challenge." "Anyway, now that the Spectre is on her way, I was wondering if you had any insights into recent events, I don't have the contacts I used to in Command, have you heard anything about this mission or anything that may be relevant?” asked Remae and added, "I don't want to put in you in an awkward position, this is not an order just a request." Tahl sat back in his seat. "To be honest Captain, I really don't have too many details either. As you know, we'll be meeting up with the USS Asguard, the USS Bradley and the USS Ulyses, as well as the IKS Moctar. Captain Renfrew on the Asguard is a very experienced war veteran. He's a little long in the tooth, as they say, but hes still as sharp as they come. And he knows enough to carry an excellent FO. Jonathan Muldar, on the Ulyses is transplant from a defecting unit. He came over, before the attacks on the outlying worlds. I only know of Captain Stor by reputation. He's tough in a fight but a little loose around the edges. And as for Captain Kram, I couldn't tell you. Intelligence has gotten that far yet, or if they have, they haven't seen fit to inform StratOps."   (Reply Remae) (Posted by Al Muir) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 0958)   "Door, lock," stated Divon aloud. An audible beep sounded as the security lock engaged on the door. Divon walked over to the replicator. "Uniform, counsellor, rank Ensign Senior Grade," said Divon as he removed his sweat laden uniform. He removed the clean uniform and laid it out on his desk. After placing his uniform into the replicator he stated, "Recycle." and then watched as his old uniform dissolved into particles. Quickly Divon dressed. When he was finished, he removed the lock on the door and sat down behind his desk. He scanned his PADD to see who his first appointment was with and waited. (USS Spectre, Counsellor’s Office - First Officer T’Vhor - 1015) T’Vhor stood outside of the councellors office & pushed the chime. He then waited for an answer. (Reply Lronen) The First Officer then walked in through the door to be greeted by the Councellor seated at his desk going through some reports. "I am here for the Psych evaluation as ordered Councellor", said T’Vhor as he took a seat opposite him on his offer to do so. (Reply Lronen) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1017)   Divon let the new First Officer into his office and motioned towards the chair. He grinned at T'Vhor when he stated that he was reporting as ordered, not that his amusement was necessarily appreciated or understood by the Vulcan. He had examined Vulcan's before, and always found them somewhat difficult. They had emotions, they were in there, they were simply so submerged as to make them seem non-existent. From time to time, Divon would feel a flash of annoyance, or anger.   "I hope today find's you well Sir. As your species is telepathic, I'm sure you understand the code of ethics I operate under. I will tell you, I do not use my abilities beyond the emotional sensory, or surface response, level without the permission of my patient. In a standard examination, I see little... logic... behind delving overly deeply into anyone's psyche. That is generally saved for more difficult or troubling cases," stated Divon.   (Reply T'Vhor)   Divon looked at the Vulcan, "I'm sure you have had this done many times during your career. Some of my methods will doubtless be different from what you're used to. However, I do believe that for every counsellor there is a different method. As long as they yield the desired results, it makes no difference."   (Reply T'Vhor)   "Now, let's begin shall we? Please look at the monitor in front of you. Three images will come in to focus. As each one does, please tell me your impressions of them. In the case of more abstract images, tell me what you perceive in them. In the case of more concrete images construct a story to explain what is going on in them. Do you understand?" asked Divon.   (Reply T'Vhor)   "The first image will be appearing now," said Divon, pressing a key.   (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - First Officer T’Vhor - 1018) "I hope today find's you well Sir", said the Councellor. "As your species is telepathic, I'm sure you understand the code of ethics I operate under. I will tell you, I do not use my abilities beyond the emotional sensory, or surface response, level without the permission of my patient. In a standard examination, I see little... logic... behind delving overly deeply into anyone's psyche", said Divon. "That is generally saved for more difficult or troubling cases," he added. T’Vhor raised an eyebrow at the councellors remarks, was there a mention of logic there? He did however seem fully aux fais with the moral laws of telepathic contact & that much assured the first officer anyway. "I'm sure you have had this done many times during your career", said the Councellor. "Some of my methods will doubtless be different from what you're used to. However, I do believe that for every counsellor there is a different method. As long as they yield the desired results, it makes no difference,” he added. "I am ready whenever you are ready to proceed Councellor", said T’Vhor. "Now, let's begin shall we? Please look at the monitor in front of you. Three images will come in to focus. As each one does, please tell me your impressions of them. In the case of the more abstract images, tell me what you perceive in them. In the case of more concrete images construct a story to explain what is going on in them. Do you understand?" asked Divon. "Yes Councellor, I understand", said T’Vhor, his face as poker straight & unemotional as it had been the moment he walked into the coundellors office. "The first image will be appearing now," said Divon, pressing a key. "The man has regrets about something", said T’Vhor in responce to the picture. "Perhaps he has inadvertently harmed the woman lying on the bed & is filled with remorse", he added. "He however is fully dressed & the woman is in a state of undress so it would seem logical that he has come into the room & found the woman in this state", said T’Vhor. "His regrets are that he was not there to prevent whatever happened from happening", he added. The Councellor nodded once & then put the next picture up onto the screen. "A lotus flower in bloom", said T’Vhor, "it is peaceful, tranquil, my thoughts are of calm & relaxation,” he added. "The picture makes me think of my wife Krysta", said T’Vhor as he momentarilly thought back with some sadness to the time before her death. The Councellor paused for a short while obviously feeling the First Officers pain at the recollection of his wife. Then he put the last of the three pictures onto the monitor. "An unidentified lifeform with many arms or apendages, it is not a species I recognise,” said T’Vhor, "it appears to be holding four identical objects in each of it’s limbs", he added as he then turned his attention to the Councellor who promptly leaned forwards & switched off the monitor. (Reply Lronen) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1036)   Divon listened carefully throughout T'Vhor's session. The first two pictures provoked more emotion than he'd ever encountered before in a Vulcan. The final picture was more typical. The logical response to the situation. This was more in line with what he expected from the First Officer. It was interesting to him that there had been something else. The fact that he could almost see the Vulcan attempting to mentally cycle through alien species was amusing to him, the logical Vulcan was definitely there. He kept his face straight and concentrated on the session though.   Finally, Divon looked at T'Vhor. "So, tell me about Krysta," asked Divon earnestly. He knew nothing about this woman from the files. He was looking forward to seeing what T'Vhor, if anything, would choose to tell him. The information, memory or lack thereof would speak volumes about T'Vhor's comfort level with that aspect of his past, that in turn would speak volumes about his present.   (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - First Officer T’Vhor - 1037) "So, tell me about Krysta," said the Councellor. T’Vhor looked to the Councellor, his brow furrowing very slightly as the memory of his wife entered his thoughts once again at the comment. "My Human wife", said T’Vhor, "Krysta is no longer here on this plane of existence", he added, "she was my........I believe the human phrase is, soulmate", he added. "When she died there was a terrible void within me that was almost intolerable", said T’Vhor. "I am as you know only part Vulcan Councellor, my Betazoid half is more sensitive than I would wish it to be at times", he added. "It is however a part of me that is intrinsicly linked to my Vulcan side", said T’Vhor. (Reply Lronen) "I still think of her", said T’Vhor, "I still miss her & wish that she had not died, my Vulcan dicipline however has helped me a great deal in this matter", he added. (Reply Lronen) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1040)   Divon listened as T'Vhor talked about the conflict between his Vulcan and Betazoid side. He was of a single heritage, but he did understand the difficulty and responsibility of Betazoid abilities.   "I do understand how difficult being Betazoid can be sometimes. If not for my own mental training, it would be impossible for me to shield out the thoughts and emotions of others. I'm able to keep things on the surface, but that is with considerable effort. Sometimes I've still had enough. However, you seem to have made peace with your combination of heritages and abilities and have found a way to make them effectively work for you. Still though, I'm sure the loss of a wife would profoundly affect you no matter how recent," stated Divon.   "I still think of her", said T’Vhor, "I still miss her & wish that she had not died, my Vulcan dicipline however has helped me a great deal in this matter", he added. "I believe you on all counts Commander, and I don't believe this negatively impacts your duty on the whole. I've seen no indications that you're behaving in a way that is any different from any other person, no matter what species, put into your particular situation. I do hope, however, that if you need to discuss this, or any other event that troubles you, that you feel free to visit me," said Divon. He still had a million questions, about how and when she died. Did they have children? How long had they been married? What kind of person was she? What did she 'do'? He stifled the questions however, knowing that sometimes a good counsellor did not try to draw out too much. This was not the same circumstance as the Captain's examination, he was not doing a thorough job and advocating heavy treatment. In this case, he was doing a cursory examination and following up a general point of importance and interest. He did hope that T'Vhor would use counselling if he needed help dealing with problems relating to his wife.   (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - First Officer T’Vhor - 1042) The Councellor seemed to be satisfied now of the First Officers fitness for duty & had indicated as such at the closing of his psychological tests. He had entered some data of which T’Vhor had not been privy to into a PADD at his side for later inclusion into his main file system. Then he informed the FO that he was free now to return to his duties. T’Vhor stood & straightened out his uniform, thanking the Councellor for taking the time to listen to him as he did so. He then left the Councellors office & continued on his way. (Reply Lronen, IYW) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre, Counsellor's Office - COUNS, Divon Lronen - 1045) Divon watched as T'Vhor left his office. He didn't have another appointment scheduled until 1100. For that reason, and a desire not to have a ridiculous backlog, Divon decided to start on his report on the new First Officer.   "Computer, record report: T'Vhor, Lieutenant, Stardate 2407.01.14," stated Divon aloud.   [Recording.]   "After meeting with my scheduled session with Lieutenant T'Vhor I find nothing to inhibit him from carrying out his duties. He is still attempting to reconcile himself with feelings of loss over his wife's death. While this appears to be an ongoing struggle, it seems that T'Vhor has found a certain amount of comfort and acceptance with his current situation. Still, T'Vhor did exhibit some feelings of regret, possibily due to the impossibility of his intervention in aiding his wife. These came clear in the Baret Diagram test where he interpreted grief in the male subject over something left undone. While these are common feelings, they still bear looking into to ensure they are not overcoming him. It is a slight possibility that a similar occurance of loss, where T'Vhor has no possibility of intercession could cause deeper seated emotional distress. It must be remembered that T'Vhor is half Betazoid, therefore coupling a very emotional race with one that has limited its emotional contact. This is bound to cause difficulty in the right circumstances. Overall, however, T'Vhor is cleared for active duty. I have indicated to him that he is welcome to see me on a regular basis, but I wish it to be voluntary."   "Computer, end, save and file," finished Divon   [Saved and Filed] intoned the computer voice.   (Reply none) (Posted by Jeff) (USS Spectre, Sickbay - CMO Williams - 1047) Andrew looked through his pile of PADDS scattered on his desk. "Good morning Doctor, I trust all is well in medical", said T’Vhor, "and that you are well also of course", he added. Andrew smiled. "I'm fine, thank you and Sickbay is moving along quite nicely." He ushered T'Vor over to a biobed. "I am just updateing my medical files. I was woundering if there is anything that is conserning you at the moment?" (Reply T'Vhor) Andrew nodded. "How is your sleeping at the moment are you having any nighmares at the moment." (Reply T'Vhor) "If you want for your sleeplessness I can give you a sedative." (Reply T'Vhor, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre, Sickbay - First Officer T’Vhor - 1051) After the doctor had greeted the first officer into his sickbay, he led him over towards one of the biobeds & asked him to lay down upon it. T’Vhor of course did as was requested of him. "I am just updating my medical files", said Williams. "I was wondering if there is anything that is concerning you at the moment?” he added pausing then to watch the various monitors & readouts above the biobed as they read of the first officers current state. "I feel fine doctor", said T’Vhor, "In fact I would even go as far as to say that I feel better than fine", he added as he relaxed on the bed & allowed the medic to take his readings. Andrew nodded. "How is your sleeping at the moment are you having any nighmares at the moment,” said the CMO. The FO paused briefly upon realising that the CMO had obviously taken a look at his starfleet record. "This is something I have always had to deal with", said T’Vhor, "I believe it is something I will never entirely be without, I can only hope that my nightmares will lessen with the passing of time", he added. "If you want something for your sleeplessness I can give you a sedative,” said the doctor. "I will of course bear that in mind, for the time however I have gained some relief from the various meditatory techiques I learned during my time on Vulcan", said T’Vhor. (Reply Williams) T’Vhor then rose from the bed after the CMO passed him as physically fit for duty & logged the details in his medical PADD. "Thank you doctor", said T’Vhor before turning & leaving the sickbay to head out into the coridoor once again.
