Spectre Compile number 2 by the great Compile Imp compile on date April 16, 2005 Compilers note: 15 posts and overall page total of about 16 pages. I fixed spelling errors. And grammar errors as well. I would like to point out, that the first word of every sentence should be CAPITALIZED. Also there was some confusion on the spelling of the word counselor. Those of us in America Land, where “true” English is spoken(just kidding) spell it counselor, everyone else spells it counsellor. However I have been informed that our great CO would prefer the “proper spelling” counsellor. However, I will not correct counselor to counsellor, as I believe there needs to be some response to “tyranny". Just kidding again. Anyways main problem is spelling mistakes not tied to differences of the “true” English and “proper” English spellings. Oh and the capitalization errors. Not trying to get down to be an overlord, just thought I would let you know. My assitant, the combile wombat is an english teacher, and I'm sure he would have hissy fit if we didn't have perfect grammar.;) If you can't tell at this point of my notes I like to joke a lot. Stardate:2406.11.10 (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Ensign H’Chir – 1305) His attention riveted to the padd, caught in mid-air by the closing doors, H’Chir hadn’t properly identified the orange blur that had entered Engineering and precipitated his latest outburst of frustration. He was only vaguely aware of it now, his attention was so engaged elsewhere. It had moved to the main consoles surrounding the warpcore, and it was only the air of intent purpose surrounding the newcomer that managed to snatch H’Chir away from glaring at the door and made him turn to face the intruder. ~Orange.~ ~Bright orange.~ ~Lots of bright orange.~ Striding over to the console, the Andorian reached out and took hold of the intruder’s wrists. “Can I help you?” A feminine face looked up at him as the orange blur resolved into a pair of alarmingly bright cotton pyjamas. Blind incomprehension in her eyes, the intruder muttered, “Carry the one…” “Doctor Dervin? Is that you?” “Theory! I have a new… Must test…” Her eyes lost focus, and darted from side to side, manipulating data that only she could see. H’Chir was about to question her again when suddenly her eyes snapped back onto his. “Wait! Something’s wrong… Why did they close?” Following her gaze, H’Chir turned to face the main doors in time to see one of his staff exit Engineering, causing the doors to open and his padd to crash to the floor. (Reply from Dervin, any) (Posted by Michael Drake with generous leeway and inspiration from Katherine Mazurok) (USS Spectre, Main Engineering – Chief M’Rurrh – 1310) The clatter echoed around Engineering, causing every head to whirl around to the main doors. A PADD was caught between the doors, and their Andorian CEO stood glaring at it as if trying to make it explode. M’Rurrh rolled her eyes and returned to her diagnostic, all the while swishing her tail impatiently from side to side. ~I don’t know what his problem is, but his mood’s infectious!~ Baring her teeth, she grabbed the nearest toolkit and stalked past the Andorian and out the door, allowing herself a satisfied smile as the PADD clattered to the deck. (Reply any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre, Ready Room, Captain Remae Ktell - 15.30) Remae had finished his meeting with the First Officer, the suggestion for the crew to take the evening off was a good one and he'd made the appropriate orders available to the department heads to pass on to the crew. Out of the Ready Room window, the Bajoran could see the framework of the docking bay the Spectre now laid in begin to activate, strong lights beamed onto the hull and workbees and small orbital pods were working on the hull. He stretched out, gave a yawn and thought about going into a pod for a look around the Spectre himself but, he'd been given sometime off and he was going to make use of it. He'd activated one his swimming programs and he'd already dived in. After splashing around for a while, Remae started with a few lengths of the 50 metre lane before long, his stride had settled in and he was making smooth and progressive lengths, mindless, his mind wandered and for the first time, he relaxed. (posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre- CSO’s Office- Acting CSO Ronsworth- 16.04) Garry was sitting in his office finishing a few reports with Petty Officer Miller. “Well, that’s the last of them. I need to leave.” She got up and hurried for the door. “Very well Deborah, have a nice time on your date.” Garry said finishing the last of his reports when his commbadge went off. =^=Ensign Banowsky to Ensign Ronsworth =^= “Go ahead opts, what do you need.” =^= You doing anything man, I'm not due back to the bridge for duty until 1730, and I need to blow of some steam, you up for a trip to Geneva. =^= “Um, nothing right now, but I still need to finish some reports. It’s time to turn the tables on you I'm afraid. It’s time for your regular psych examination. Please report to my office, thank you =^= Andrew looked up from his PADD. ~a new counselor that's good~ "No problem Counselor Lronen just give me a second and I'll be right there." He made the finishing touches to the PADD. ~hope this won't take too long. I've got medicals to do~ He turned to one of the on duty nurses. " I'm just going for my psych evaluation. If you need me call." With that he turned and left sickbay. (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-Counselor's Office - CMO - Williams-16.12) He pressed the door chime and entered. He saw a 23 year old man with red hair and green eyes. ~this must be him~ He stepped forward and extended his hand. "Counselor Lronen. I'm Andrew. What would you like to know about me?" (reply Lronen) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - COUNS - Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 1613) Divon watched as the doctor entered his office. He was a man in his mid-twenties. Divon shook the doctor's hand and motioned to an empty chair. "Counselor Lronen. I'm Andrew. What would you like to know about me?" asked William. "Well, Doctor, I've been looking at your files. How long have you suffered from insomnia?" Divon asked. Insomnia was often a signature of a deeper seated problem in a person's life. Dreams, sleep patterns, and relaxed states could be negatively affected by a person's conscious or unconscious mind. Divon assumed that the doctor had already looked for medical causes. (Reply Williams) "I see... These nightmares, can you remember any of them?" asked Divon. Dreams were often instrumental in a person's psyche. Understand the dream and you can treat the distress. (Reply Williams) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Spectre-CSO's Office-Ensign Will Banowsky-16.15) Will arrived and pressed a button to alert Garry he was there. The door opened and Will came in and leaned against one of the walls. "So this is your office Garry. Looks nice." Will said as he looked around Garry's office. (reply Ronsworth) "So, I just got out of my Psych evaluation. And boy was it interesting man, very interesting." Will stated as he looked at the ground. (reply Ronsworth) "Well thankfully I am not crazy, but I was asked to start weekly sessions, because the counselor feels I am having trouble getting used to leaving Earth or something like that. So every Tuesday, I get to have a little chat." (reply Ronsworth) "Anyway, enough about that I need to go let of some steam, so we could either go to Geneva, or we could try out one of my holoprograms I installed yesterday." (reply Ronsworth) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - CMO- Williams - 1616) "Well, Doctor, I've been looking at your files. How long have you suffered from insomnia?" Lronen said. Andrew though for a moment. ~If I tell him the truth he's going to think I'm a nut case. But this is why he is here.~ "I've been having them continuously for about seven years now. I'm kind of getting use to it." he gave a smile trying to put on a brave face ~its amazing even after this time it still hurts. would think by now I could talk about it without getting upset~ "I see... These nightmares, can you remember any of them?" asked Divon. Andrew gave a sad smile. "Ow yes everyone. They are all the same. It’s the death of my parents. They were on a salvage vessel which got caught in an Ion storm trying to rescue a freighter. My parent's were on the bridge at the time when the ship was hit by a discharge. I found my dad impaled to the wall by his consol. my mum grabbed me and pushed me toward a life pod. she fell behind me..." ~Not this again, no~ "Then the gravity died and a plasma conduit exploded..." He could see it happening again in his head. He looked up at Lronen. "Have you ever seen fire in Zero-G? Its moves like it's alive. I could not reach her in time. She ordered the life pod to launch before I could get her. It flowed over her. I could see her writhing in agony as the life pod ejected." He stopped taking a deep breath. "I was the only one who survived. the freighter was okay and picked me up. Luckily my sister was away at starfleet or it would have just been me." ~I hated going over it but talking to him dose help~ He gave another sad grin. "Anything else you would like to know?" (reply Lronen) (reply by Lronen) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre-CSO's Office-CSO Ronsworth- 16.16) Will rang the chime than walked into Garry’s office. "So this is your office Garry. Looks nice” “Yup…” Garry said half distracted, as he looked around at all the artifacts on his walls. His desk was clustered with PADDs and broken Tricorders that he and Miller were trying to modify for experiments. "So, I just got out of my Psych evaluation. And boy was it interesting man, very interesting." Will stated as he looked at the ground. “Yeah Miller’s already been today, I’m dodging till later, how did that go?” Garry replied as he continued to hurry and finish work. "Well thankfully I am not crazy, but I was asked to start weekly sessions, because the counselor feels I am having trouble getting used to leaving Earth or something like that. So every Tuesday, I get to have a little chat," Will looked up at Garry as Garry stopped working for a second. “Sounds interesting,” Garry looked sarcastically at Will. They gave each other a look of humility as Garry started to put research equipment away. "Anyway, enough about that I need to go let of some steam, so we could either go to Geneva, or we could try out one of my holoprograms I installed yesterday." “Well, I’m done here, hey lets invite that new FO that came aboard today. What was his name? Something Irish-like, Lt Cmdr. Shane Schofield was it?” Garry looked at Will. “Ronsworth to Schofield, Lt Cmdr. are you free at the moment?” (Reply FO, Banowsky) (Posted by Bobby) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - COUNS - Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 1628) Divon listened to this man and his haunting tale. This was a regular aspect of his job, hearing the pain of others. Everyone always thought the same thing as well, because they weren't reacting what they felt was normal they were therefore crazy. That assumption was almost never the case. "We do have more to go over Andrew... may I call you Andrew?" asked Divon carefully. (reply Williams) Divon nodded and took a breath, "Before I go any further though I need you to realize that there is nothing unusual about your experiences. Traumatic events often cause nightmares, insomnia and can for a while afterwards. I'm sure you know there are pharmaceuticals that can help, but in the end, talking helps, learning to accept helps. For the last two years I was one of many counselors on a ship that's primary function was to deal with missions of mercy. You see that picture on the wall? That was drawn by a young boy from the moon colony of Pentartha III, he had been exposed to noxious gases and was dying. I had to help him through it. After he died, even while he was sick, I was plagued by many sleepless nights and bad dreams myself. This Counselor had to get counseling. There is no shame to learning to deal with events that have left a deep impact in your life. I would be more apt to believe something was wrong with you if you had no lasting repercussions." (Reply Williams) "I would encourage you to visit me regularly doctor. Perhaps together we can work through your feelings and emotions, then maybe you can start getting a good night's sleep again," said Divon sympathetically. (Reply Williams) "Now... moving along with the standard examination. I am going to show you three images and I would like you to tell me what you see," said Divon. (Reply Williams) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - CMO - Williams - 1630) "We do have more to go over Andrew... may I call you Andrew?" asked Divon carefully. I am using caffeine supplement drinks to keep me awake." "I would encourage you to visit me regularly doctor. Perhaps together we can work through your feelings and emotions, then maybe you can start getting a good night's sleep again," said Divon sympathetically. Andrew smiled lightly. "That would be nice. Being awake for twenty-two hours every day gets tough." "Now... moving along with the standard examination. I am going to show you three images and I would like you to tell me what you see," said Divon. "Okay. Hope this won't be hard." He said with a grin. (Reply Lronen) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - CMO - Williams - 1635) Andrew looked at the three pictures that he had been shown. ~I hate doing this. I keep thinking they are some thing stupid. I'll get him back. See what his blood pressure dose when he stands on his head or something~ He glanced down at the first picture. "Well to me it looks like two people drinking from a fountain with the water flowing into a pond." He grinned to him self ~what a stupid explanation. okay then next~ "I think that it is a kind of black butterfly." ~could be worse~ "Okay I think this is a woman standing behind a strip of sand and in front of some weird kind of tree. It could also be some weird kind of bug. I don't know." (reply Lronen) (Reply Lronen) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre- Counselor's Office - COUNS - Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 1640) Divon listened carefully to the replies of the CMO. They were remarkably upbeat considering what he'd been through. No malingering on death, or the darker side of things. It was kind of surprising in a way. There was still some concept of the bizarre as was evidenced from the tree and bug descriptions, but nothing overly negative or problematic. Finally, Divon nodded, "Well, according to Starfleet guidelines I really don't see anything that would keep you from active duty. I wouldn't characterize you as imminently dangerous to yourself or others and see no reason that your judgements would be suspect. All things considered you're in pretty good shape." (Reply Williams) "I will say though that I really think you should see me fairly regularly so we can try to deal with these nightmares and this insomnia problem. Either before or after duty shifts on a weekly basis, or more often if you think it will help you get more regular sleep faster. You know there is no magic cure, it’s something we have to work at together," stated Divon. (Reply Williams) Divon then pulled out a small hardbound notebook and a pen and handed them to Andrew. "I know these seem like relics compared to the PADD, but it’s sometimes difficult to operate the PADD if you're agitated or just awakened. Details in dreams tend to fade within the first half hour after waking up. You might remember the skeleton, but not some of the finer details. I'd like you to start writing things down whenever you have your nightmares. Just jot things down, especially anything that seems odd or out of place. Sometimes our subconscious tries to tell us something through dreams," stated Divon. (Reply Williams) "It can be as simple as a regular household item out of place, or as complex as people, events or things that are completely way out there occurring in the middle of your dream. Just write it all down. It’s also been shown that when you write down dreams it helps you to deal with them and you tend to sleep better. Almost like you're transferring the issue from the dream into the book," said Divon with a sympathetic smile, "I just ask that you try it, and if you feel comfortable sharing it, bring it with you to counseling sessions." (Reply Williams) Divon nodded for a second and then continued, "One last thought. If ever the dreams get so bad that you feel you can't deal with them, I am a full Betazoid. I might be able to work on a telepathic solution. However, this is generally the last resort. I prefer to have patients work through their own issues. I don't want to go rummaging through your memories as you have a right to your privacy and I feel... odd... seeing people's most inner thoughts." (Reply Williams) With that Divon stood up and shook Andrew's hand, "Have a good day. I look forward to seeing you in the future." (Reply Williams) Divon watched as Andrew left his office. He seemed at least a bit happier than when he had first arrived. Perhaps it was the possibility of hope to cure his affliction. Divon scanned the roster for a second. Who would he choose next? He tapped his intercom key. "This is Counselor Lronen to Ensign Ronsworth. Please report to my office for your routine psych evaluation. Thank you," he stated. So far things weren't going as badly as he feared they would... although there was still the Captain to deal with, and a new first officer. (Reply Ronsworth) (Reply Ronsworth, Williams) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Spectre, Outside Holodeck 1, Captain Remae Ktell - 18.00) Dry and out of the pool, he had changed out of his uniform and into civilian clothes he made his way to the Mess Hall for some dinner. It felt strange, they had time to do what they wanted and not let events dictate them. (posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Engineering, Captain Remae Ktell - 19.00) Remae was making a visit to the various department on the ship, maybe not the best use of his free time but it wasn't often he could take the time to visit. He found himself in Engineering, not a surprise; he uses to do a lot of his thinking against the backdrop of the warp core. "Mr H'Chir, how are you?", asked Remae, noting the Andorian was busy at his post. (Reply from H'Chir) "It's okay, I don't want a status report, Ensign - I am just visiting, is there anything you need?", asked the CO. (Reply from H'Chir) "Very well.", he said, heading for the small elevator and taking the ride to the upper level of the warp core. From up there, Remae had a nice view of Engineering and he leant against one of the rails and wasn't planning on going anywhere anytime soon. =^= Captain Remae, this is Geneva Operations =^= "Go ahead OPS." =^= Captain, Admiral LoDona requests your presence in his office, as soon as possible =^= "Understood. I'll be there shortly.", said Remae now standing up. He double tapped his commbadge, "Commander Schofield, this is the Captain, I am heading for a meeting on Geneva.", he said sighing just a bit, a meeting with the Admiral wasn't going to do a lot to keep his relaxed state. (Reply from Shane) Remae took the turbolift in Engineering, as the ship was docked with the station, the turbolift systems were interconnected and he could ride the lift directly to the Admiral's Office. Visions of what he was going to say to the Admiral flooded past him, was he going to tell him what he thought of his recent demotion, the removal of command from the Spectre and whatever the reasoning behind that was, did he want to know. probably not. He was back in command wasn't he? Didn't that mean they trusted him again? Maybe, but there was no way in hell he was going to trust the Admiral again. (Reply from Schofield, H'Chir, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre: Deck 6, Rec One – TAC/SC/2O Pierce Orde - 1902) "I believe so, I just hope you don't expect me to be very good. I've never done this before," stated Divon. He felt no real concern except in not being much of a challenge to his opponent. After all, this was just a game. “Nah,” Pierce replied, “You don’t have to be good. Just enjoy yourself. Besides, you never know when you could use the hand-eye coordination that this game tends to develop.” "…I am trusting that this is a fairly ancient game," stated Divon. “I’m no anthropologist, but I would guess that the game is something of a throwback to the early hunter-gatherers with throwing spears. As for the maintenance of the game, I suppose it’s because it is a game where skill can count for more than luck.” He shuffled over to the board and retrieved two sets of darts from a holder next to the board, and walked back to a line on the decking. “This line here designates how close you may stand to the board when making your throws. There is no stipulation on how far back you can be. It’s called a ‘toe-line’. Now, every player tends to develop a particular style for throwing, but most” here he demonstrated by taking a toss at the board himself, planting a dart in the fifteen-point area, “…use the toss I just did, using mostly the wrist and sighting down the dart.” For effect, he tossed two more at the board, scoring a four and a double-twelve. “That was forty-one points deducted from my score of three-hundred-one. Only two hundred and sixty left to go.” He walked over to the board and retrieved his darts and then moved over to the counselor, handing him the duplicate set. “Would you care to try?” (Reply Divon) (Posted by Lenox) (USS Spectre: Deck 6, Rec One - COUNS Ensign {SG} Divon Lronen - 1902) Divon listened intently as the Lieutenant Commander explained the game. "I'm no anthropologist... Would you care to try?" stated Orde. Divon took the darts from Pierce and nodded, "Certainly..." he walked up to the 'toe line' and tossed. One dart hit the board sideways and fell to the floor, another struck the backboard and stuck fast. The third struck the outer edge. Divon laughed aloud. Definitely what he was expecting. "Hey! Look, I got two to stick in. I suppose you don't get any points deducted for the backboard. I hope you don't get any added," stated Divon cheerfully. He didn't mind, this was his first time after all. (Reply Orde) Divon laughed and went to retrieve his darts. The one on the floor was fairly easy as was the one in the actual board. The one in the backboard took some tugging to remove. "I didn't realize I had that much strength in me," said Divon with another laugh. He went back to Orde and watched as he took his next turn. (Reply Orde) Divon shrugged, "Here goes nothing... really... I mean it." He threw... he certainly wasn't hitting the center and one of his darts again fell to the ground, but the other two stuck in and stayed. He let Pierce do the scoring as he still felt a bit confused by the whole system. (Reply Orde) (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) [End Compile]
