He's been through a lot. He may have changed.:. Suddenly, he materialised infront of her and she said, “Hey Gorgeous, how's it hanging?” "Apparently, Miss Becks implanted some sort of explosive device in my gutt. I would appreciate it if you took it out." He passed her a tricorder and explained that this was the device that was keeping him alive and stopping the device inside him from exploding. She placed it gently on the table next to her as he said, "How long will I be here, I've got more work to do back on the Broken Wing, Im sure you will have me back together in no time." Mia looked at him and said, “It shouldn't take that long to remove the device and have you back up and running. That's the easy part. The hard part will be what comes after.” (Reply Jacobs) She put her hand on his shoulder and said, “Henry, you've been through a lot. You need to talk to someone.” (Reply Jacobs) Mia smiled and then said, “I knew you were going to say that. Dr Caspian is an excellent person to talk to.” (posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - aCEO Ensign Henry Jacobs - 1531) Mia looked at him and said, “It shouldn't take that long to remove the device and have you back up and running. That's the easy part. The hard part will be what comes after.” "What hard part are you talking about, Mia?" He asked, still feeling the pain in his abdomen as he turned to face her. She put her hand on his shoulder and said, “Henry, you've been through a lot. You need to talk to someone.” "We are talking right now, problem solved." Mia smiled and then said, “I knew you were going to say that. Dr Caspian is an excellent person to talk to.” "I am sure that she is, but I am sure this is something that will pass over time. Especially if I concentrate on my work instead of taking field trips with escaped bandits." He smirked, but deep down he knew it was a fake attempt to ease Mia's mind on the issue of worrying about Henry's state of being. He was more concerned about getting the explosive out of his stomach. "See you on the other side" (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - SickBay – aCMO Ensign Mia Saryn – 1624) Mia took off her opperating gown and looked down at Henry and said, “Done. You're all back to yourself.” (Reply Jacobs) Watching as he sat up, she sat by his side and said, “Listen, I understand, probably better than most, what you have been through. I know that you need time to heal, to understand what has happened and how this has affected you.” She stopped and said, “God, i'm so bad at this.” (Reply Jacobs) Mia smiled and said, “What i'm trying to say is that whatever was happening with us before this... I'd like it to continue but I don't want to push you. I can wait until you're ready. I just want you to know that i'm here for you as a friend or something more.” She leant towards him and kissed him gently on his cheek and said, “You just take your time. Okay?” (posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - aCEO Ensign Henry Jacobs - 1629) The modern wonders of space age medical technology was no extraordinary thing. The surgery was performed on Henry to take out the explosive device and Henry was awake for every moment of it. "Done. You're all back to yourself" Mia said to him. "The true test is to make sure I'm not leaking anything." He said as he smiled in the direction of Mia. He wanted her to know that he was appreciative without making the situation awkward. "I appreciate it Dr." It may have been the tone in which Henry was speaking to Mia lately which caused her to respond the way she did. Something that seemed way out of left field had just happened and yet there was no shock to Henry in the slightest. Mia had basically called off any plans the two of them had of having a relationship. Now this was no surprise to Henry since his feelings as of late were going in the same direction. "If it were not for that crazy woman aboard the broken wing, things may have continued, but I think you are right. We should probably but things on the back burner and just work on being friends. And hopefully you will still feel the same once I sort things out in my head." His shoulder, although treated by medical seemed stiff and somewhat sore, which was bothersome in its own way. He'd been injured before, broken bones in falls, been burned during orbital skydiving, and once had a punctured lung caused by a containment suit failure in the hydrogen oceans of Argus III. Still, this was the first significant injury that he had ever really suffered in combat, and though he'd been in his fair share of scraps and bar fights over the years, he'd never really gone all 'gung-ho' on a bunch of pirates before. The shoulder was in perfect working order, the stiffness was natural; a result of the dermal and muscular regeneration treatments that had repaired the damaged tissue at the site of the injury, yet somehow it was bothering him more than he could explain. His contemplation was cut short by the sound of Ensign Romero's foot falls on the deck behind him. The young operations officer had just joined the boudicca crew prior to this mission and had the misfortune of being one of the replacements for crew members lost during the battle with the Borg at Dovek II. "That's all of it sir." she stated with a sense of finality, "the last of the raw materials are ready to be transported over to the colony whenever you've approved the shipment." He turned to face her, reaching out with his left hand, forcing his obstinate shoulder to do even more work, and took the offered PADD from her firm grip. He smiled, rotated the device as he transferred it to his more cooperative side and accessed the files. The display began scrolling through the raw materials that were being transferred from the Boudicca's emergency stores to the Pirate colony, which in Deynyk's opinion was a haphazard compromise at best. The fact that the colony had managed to prevent the extradition of captain Toulin to the federation had left a bad taste in his mouth, especially since the elders of the colony had claimed to have been ignorant of the rogue captain's actions. Deynyk, or more accurately, Rinn, had seen his fair share of people like this, having served for so long in the diplomatic corps. These people had managed to convince the captain that they were innocents, unaware of the actions of one of their captains. The flip-side had been that they had managed to exact a sort of peace-toll from the Boudicca in recompense for the military action that they had taken against their hostile vessels. The entire situation smelled bad to the diplomat turned operations officer, but he wasn't in a position to argue or to even have any influence on the outcome of the negotiations that had taken place. Captain Capps had exercised his legitimate right as the Captain of the Boudicca and as an Ambassador-at-large for the Federation to conduct the negotiations in private without the consultation of his crew. It was perhaps that fact more than the final settlement that had bothered Deynyk Rinn. His years of experience should have meant that he had been consulted, or at least that his opinion asked, even if it had not been implemented. It was that blatant disregard for his history of excellent service in the Federation Diplomatic Corps that bothered him the most. Still, the past was done and it was time to live in the present and prepare for the future. Deynyk had learned a long time ago that he had to live without regrets and he had to consider the possibility that there would be no tomorrow. That personal philosophy meant that he had to focus on the here and now, and not the yesterdays or tomorrows. He finished the scrolling list of materials and gave Romero a smile and a nod of the head. "Excellent work ensign, I'll make a fine operations officer out of you yet. Have we loaded everything onto the cargo transporter for transfer to the colony?" She practically beamed in response to his praise. "Yes sir, thank you, sir. Everything is ready pending your approval." He nodded and gestured for her to accompany him as they crossed the open cargo hold to the heavy duty transporters. There, as indicated, the loaded raw materials bins were neatly stacked on the platform, as if they had been placed there by a child using various shaped building blocks. "Looks good to me." he said, "man the transporter and set the coordinates for the agreed upon transfer point." "Me sir?" she asked somewhat surprised. "Yes, is that a problem ensign?" he asked her. "No sir it's just that I-" "I know you've only done this in simulations. It's high-time you took the cargo transporter out for a spin, ensign Romero. Just relax, take a deep breath and go through your pre-transport checklist." "Aye sir." As the young woman started going through her checklist, Deynyk watched and observed as she did so. When she was getting close to commencing the transport, he tapped his commbadge and opened a channel to the bridge and to the colony. "Bridge and Colony cargo, this is Lieutenant Rinn, we have the last shipment of raw materials ready to beam over. We require confirmation that you are ready to receive as well as authorization to commence transport." (reply Bridge iyw) =^=Boudicca, colony cargo officer here, we are ready to receive your final transport of raw materials at your convenience. Transport space is clear of obstructions and ready to receive cargo.=^= With confirmation and authorization given, Rinn closed the channel after a quick reply, "understood, commencing transport shortly." He glanced over at the ensign standing beside him, "Ready?" "Aye sir." she responded with a determined jog of her head. "Energize when ready." "Energizing." The sound of the cargo transporter began and slowly rose in pitch as the device went to work digitizing the molecules of the complex materials that were preparing for transport. Unlike a personnel transporter, the limitations of the cargo model wasn't as strict, safety limits weren't as stringent and the buffering wasn't as refined. The result was that the materials took a noticeably longer period of time to dematerialize and rematerialize, but that it could handle larger masses and transport over greater distances. both those features were limited in the personnel transporter due to safety concerns. The sound of the beam ended, and the platform lights dimmed back to normal settings. Deynyk watched as Romero returned the station to it's standby settings. "Good work ensign, four more live runs like that and you'll be fully qualified to operate the system solo." he said smiling. "Thank you sir," she said brimming with pride. "Think nothing of it. " he replied, "now you get to do the fun part." "Fun?" "Yes." he said with a wink, "Stores Inventory. We're going to need to verify what we have on hand so I can prep a rotable and expendable stores requisition for the Captain. Think you can handle it?" She nodded, "Yes sir. No problem." "Alright then carry on." Romero left with a bounce in her step and Deynyk decided it would be a good time to head to his office for some nice quiet paperwork. The twin suns were just beginning to peak over the horizon of the small heavy gravity world as he wound his way among the dwarf trees that predominated the mostly agrarian world. Bright streaks of orange, pinks and carmine spread their fingers across the mostly blue-green sky as the rays from the suns slid across the firmament that encased the small world. A variety of high altitude clouds caught the colors and reflected them back down upon the world below. Soon, Deynyk realized, the stars rays would begin to excite the ionosphere and magnetosphere of the small world and the singular phenomenon known as the dancing sky. As always he was racing against time as he hurried through the forest to the headway of the Amazora Falls. The path was softer than he remembered, but that wasn't particularly disturbing as he realized that the emerald glow moss varied it's thickness based on the cycle of the year. HIs foot falls left little shimmering tidal ripples of brilliant green color as the moss reacted to his footfalls. It was one of the most amazing thing that he'd seen in all his journeys and Rinn had introduced him to this place nearly five years prior. Finally he broke through the edge of the forest into the flat alpine meadows that marked the areas surrounding the river and falls. Already in the distance he could hear the rumbling of the falls as the water beat it's way down the side of the tallest basin in the entire Federation. He quickened his pace, his muscles already straining from the pressure of the heavier atmospheric pressure. His body was already damp, as much from perspiration as from the mists that were common to this area. The muscles aches and burned, but Deynyk pushed on. He didn't want to be late for this once-in-a-lifetime event. He pushed his way through the spark grass, following an well-traveled animal trail up the ever steepening slope that led up to the water's edge. His heart beat in rhythm with his footsteps a solid thump-thump-thump that indicated that he was within his personal performance zone. Above him the sky was brightening, more reds, and purples were forming and starting to shift towards the brilliant gold and orange as biodiatomes in the upper atmosphere began to absorb the increased solar radiation that the twin suns rise brought to this world. With only a few more moments, they'd burst into an amazing display of light that could be seen despite the brightness of the two distant life-giving stars. The softer earth of the meadow gave way to harder packed soil and rocky outcroppings as Deynyk gave his body a concerted challenge to increase speed. He pushed himself harder and faster, until he suddenly reached the crest. There standing upon the rocky outcropping of the Amazora river was Deynyk. Towering above the world which was small enough that he could clearly see the curve of the horizon in the distance. To his right was the river, rushing forward over its turbulent rocky bed, only to plunge 2800-meters over the side of the volcanic outcropping that defined the falls. The view was spectacular. predatory birds soared below him as they searched the spark grass plains for prey, clouds above almost seemed within his grasp and the horizon was already beginning to glow as the biodiatomes ignited into the wild bio-luminescent mating signals that they alone could understand. Fueled by the additional energy brought to them by the twin suns they exploded into a myriad of colors and flashes of light. Their rhythms were primitive, primal, random and beautiful all at the same time. And Deynyk couldn't help but smile as he reached into his small hip pack and withdrew his personal media device. He plugged the ear units into his ears and with a flick of his thumb pressed the play button. Immediately the musical tones of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture seemed to narrate the amazing display of light that burst forth in the ever brightening sky. It was almost as if the human composer had been standing on this very spot when he had composed this incredible piece of music. He could feel the emotions sweet inside him as the bursts of colors seemed to take on aerial displays of fireworks, almost as if the very planet were under siege by an orbital bombardment. The suns were now in full form above the horizon. The microscopic flashes of light filled the firmament and as the music reached it's crescendo, the displays become more frantic and exuberant. The intense colors and flashes grew more and more desperate until they stopped almost in perfect unison to the clanging of the bells at the end of the classic piece of music. ::Isn't it awe inspiring?:: Rinn asked him. ::Very much so. I always feel awestruck whenever I see it.:: Deynyk replied. ::Well, this is nothing compared to seeing it live. No two shows are the same, and the holodeck simply isn't capable of capturing the true randomness and intensity of the display. There are so many subtle displays that the technology doesn't even come close.:: ::I believe it:: Deynyk responded, still somewhat awestruck as the last of the flashes disappeared into oblivion. ::Disappointing when it ends isn't it?:: the symbiont asked. ::Very.:: ::Those microscopic creatures save up their energy for their entire lives to make a single flash in the hopes of attracting a mate and passing on their genes. since the conditions are perfect only once every 80-years, many of them never manage to make it to this point...:: ::But those that do certainly put on an amazing display.:: ::Yes, that they do.:: Rinn agreed. :: Now that we've seen the display, now what?:: ::I'm going to climb down the rock face to the bottom.:: Deynyk replied. ::Since I worked so hard to get here, I may as well, conquer the mountain while I'm here.:: There was a mental nod from Rinn as Deynyk moved closer to the edge of the sheer rock face. ::It's very high.:: he said in affirmation. ::Yes and in this higher gravity, it will be quite a task. Especially with your shoulder still causing you problems.:: ::There's nothing wrong with my shoulder.:: Deynyk replied, "Medical says there's no damage and that it hasn't been affected by scar tissue or anything else for that matter. ::No the problem is psychological I think:: Rinn continued. ::That's the most ludicrous thing I think you've ever said to me Rinn:: ::Then why is there pain if there is no physical damage, it has to be psychosomatic.:: Deynyk shook his head. ::I don't think so. I think that the muscles just needs to be worked, and there's no better workout then climbing.:: ::I disagree, sex can be just as invigorating.:: Rinn commented. ::Not this argument again Rinn, We've discussed this.:: ::Yes but the Doctor was quite interested in you, I'm certain it would be very beneficial to both of you.:: ::You're just an old pervert.:: ::Of course, there's nothing wrong with it, as long as there's consent.:: ::Enough banter about my sex life.:: ::Our...our sex life, thank you very much.:: ::Fine our sex life. I have a rock to climb.:: ::Fine, but we'll discuss this again later.:: ::Much, much later, Rinn. Right now I need to focus.:: Deynyk moved and set his grip and then lowered himself over the side of the rock face. It was slick with the mist from the waterfall. "this is going to be a challenge." he mumbled as he found himself foot holds. Slowly, carefully, he began his descent down the rock face. (posted by Daniel Greene) (USS Boudicca - Ready Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 0800) Calvin entered his office ready for the busy day. He had many appointments to handle and he had the mission debriefing at 1000 hours. The Boudicca's senior crew had already been informed of the debriefing time so they may have ample opportunity to ready any and all reports. The Captain moved behind his desk and took a seat in his chair. He wiggled his body slightly to find the sweet spot. After he was comfortable he turned his attention to his computer. A list of reports filled his screen. He took the time to open each of them, but none required his immediate attention. He opened his calendar and took a look at his overall day. He certainly was going to be very busy. He decided there is no better time than the present and touched his combadge, "Captain Capps to Ensign Jacobs. Please report to the ready room immediately." (reply Jacobs) After the Captain heard the confirmation he swiveled in his chair toward his replicator. "Tea, sweet, cold...and give me a tray of sweets." The machine followed its instructions and delivered what the Captain asked for. Calvin took the cup with the tea and placed it on his desk in front of him but a little to the right. He picked up the tray of sweets and placed it on the edge of the desk opposite him so that he may offer the sweets to people he would be meeting with today. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Boudicca, Holodeck 2- aCOPs- Lieutenant Deynyk Rinn- 0800) It's difficult for someone who doesn't do freehand rock climbing to realize how very long it actually takes to make any real headway, especially on a descent. Deynyk, on the other hand realized exactly what he was in for as he adjusted his grip at the upper edge of an overhang. The face of the stone, only 300-feet or so below the crown receded away from the vertical plane a good 20-feet inward. It didn't return to the more normal vertical for a span of almost 30 feet, so free falling the distance was not going to be an option. Besides, the rocks were still somewhat slick as a result of the ever present mist emanating from the waterfall just a few dozen feet away. In any case, he realized he'd have to do this the hard way, which was traversing the overhang upside-down and backwards. It was a maneuver that he'd done hundreds of time in the opposite direction, ascending- yet the very act of going in the other direction was a complicating factor. ::What are you waiting for?:: Rinn asked him as he condsidered his next move. ::Trying to work out the best way to get past this obstacle.:: he replied mentally as he edged himself just a little closer. ::Does it really matter? Isn't the safety setting turned on?:: ::Yes of course.:: Dey replied, ::I'm not suicidal:: ::No just crazy.:: ::That hasn't been proven.:: ::Ah, so you admit that it's a possibility at least?:: the Symbiont teased. ::They say that acceptance is the first step to recovery.:: ::Ha, ha, ha, very funny.:: Dey set his hands and took in a deep breath. He was about to step off into open space, hanging only by the strength of his fingertips and arms. ::I need a moment or two to focus.:: He stated to Rinn. ::Of course, don't mind me, this is absolutely exhilarating.:: ::Okay you can be quiet for a while now.:: Dey replied as he let his feet leave the rock face and dangle into empty space. Hand hold by hand hold, he edged himself lower and lower to the eventual crest of the overhang, his fingers were rapidly becoming sore and his lower arms, although used to holding his weight were feeling the burn of doing so in a heavier than normal gravity field. Deynyk, kept his motions slow and steady, using the familiar motions to keep him focused as he hung suspended at the edge of the world. Out of instinct he reached down and pressed play on his media device. His motions began to time themselves as he listened to the beginning strains of Air on a G String. The soft music kept him in pace with the actions that his body was making. Release-move-grip - it was a series of movements that his body had practiced on dozens of rock faces on as many worlds, and he had perfected his movements in holodecks across the Federation. He had the physical strength and stamina to hold himself suspended by his hands only for upwards of two hours. His fingers were capable of holding him for nearly thirty minutes at a stretch, yet here in this place, on this heavier than earth simulation, he could feel his muscles straining just to keep up. ::You weigh almost twice your normal weight Deynyk:: Rinn chimed in. ::I know, I know...: he replied as he transitioned his lower body into a position that was now running parallel to the ground beneath him. HIs feet found purchase, his toes forcing the flexible silica soles to take better grip of the rock face that he clung to. He then began the suspension crawl that would bring him back to the vertical face of the climb. ::You amaze me.:: Rinn finally stated. ::I don't understand how you can continue to force your body to perform despite the obvious difficulties we are facing.:: ::I've been told that it's stubbornness.:: Dey replied, testing a grip with his left hand. for the last few feet, he'd be forced to traverse the overhang, suspended by only his fingers and arms, there weren't enough adequate grips for his feet. A hand over hand approach was now needed. ::I think it's discipline.:: Rinn said as Deynyk released his footholds and allowed his body to slowly unwind from the crouch into a more upright position. ::No one has ever claimed I was disciplined before.:: Deynyk replied as he gripped his left wrist with his right hand, so that he could support the half turn he needed to perform to rearrange his face to one that was more favorable. ::In fact I'm pretty certain that Thrill-seeker and discipline are mutually exclusive.:: He reached up and took a solid hold with his right hand, then gripped his right wrist with his left hand to support it as he finished his facing maneuver. ::Yes, there is a point in that, I suppose...:: But you're at least a little disciplined, otherwise you'd do horribly in starfleet.:: Rinn pressed as Deynyk took another handhold, distributing his weight between his tow arms now rather than one-or-the-other. :Yeah, there is that.:: He answered as he allowed his arms to slowly extend and to stretch to their nearly full length. It felt good to be suspended beneath the stone hanging by only his fingers. His heart raced with the possibility of falling to his death, yet he didn't have any fear, just the excitement of being suspended hundreds of feet above the ground without a safety net. ::What do you think?:: Deynyk asked Rinn, ::Isn't it a unique experience?:: ::Almost as unique as the light display we saw earlier.:: Rinn replied. ::Each climb is unique, each rock face changes with time, so even two climbs at the same location are completely unique:: ::How so?:: Rinn asked. ::Well there's erosion, plants, sometimes animals that affect the climb. And then there's weather, humidity, temperature. All of those things change the rock face. Sometimes subtly, sometimes drastically. I think it's analogous to the way experiences alter a person.:: ::That's very philosophic. Very much unlike you, Deynyk.:: ::You'd be surprised Rinn. I am actually very capable of being a deep thinker. I do most of my really deep thinking on a difficult climb though. It help me focus my efforts internally, separated from everyone else.:: :: except for me.:: ::Yes except for you. You're different. You're a part of me now. We're merged. It means that we now share everything, you're one of those events that changes the face of the rock, in a drastic way.:: ::Is that good or bad?:: Rinn asked. ::Good I'd say.:: Deynyk responded. ::What makes it so good?:: Deynyk finally began moving again, carefully picking his hand holds, moving hand-over hand across the overhang. ::You give me balance. You help me reign in my wilder side, make me consider actions before I take them. It helps me develop as a person.:: ::I see, just as in the same way, you help me become more adventurous.:: ::Yes something like that. together we become more than we were without losing ourselves.:: Deynyk explained. ::I understand. My last host was very reserved. She was very disciplined, she would never take any sort of risks like those you have taken.:: Deynyk reached the vertical face once again. His arms were burning from the effort of traversing the overhang. ::Yes, but look at all that she accomplished. That you both accomplished. You were one of the most highly respected diplomats of your time.:: ::She died from an allergic reaction to an exotic food.:: Rinn clarified. ::We all die, Rinn. The thought passed and he continued to the bridge. "Bridge." He commanded in the turbolift and the transportation unit moved. The turbolift doors opened and he pushed to the Captain's Ready Room. He searched for the sweet spot again without thinking about it. "How are you doing?" (reply Jacobs) "You were part of some very extreme situations 2 days ago. I believe it is only natural for you to have some good and bad thoughts about those occurrences. I will be appointing a head counselor today, I think you should go meet her." "How are you doing?" the Captain asked. "As well as can be expected. At least there is no more pain." Henry replied. The Captain began recapping the events that transpired over the past days involving the bandits and dealing with Becks. All this lead to him ordering Henry to meet with the ship's counselor. Instantly Henry's mind flashed back to the last session with a counselor when he received his eye implant. ~I don't want to talk about my feelings again~ "If I am ordered sir, then I will go." The Captain continued. "Excellent. There is just one other topic that I need to speak with you about Mr. Jacobs. The last few days had been taking inventory of materials, accounting for everything and discovering exactly how short they were on the components needed to rebuild the two shuttles that had been lost from the Boudicca's complement over the last few missions. Of course, he was responsible for the loss of one of those craft; a result of his photon grenade in the magnetic isolators maneuver. All things considered though, he was glad that he'd done it. the action had safeguarded the marines aboard the drop ship that had been sent to recover Jacobs, and as he had very little time to make a decision he felt that he'd made the right one. He had, however fully expected a discussion on the matter with the captain, but so far such a meeting had not materialized. Deynyk wasn't certain if this was a good thing or a bad one, since reckless destruction of starfleet property was an offense punishable by court martial. in the end, he preferred to assume that it was an acceptable ploy, and that meant that he was in the clear- at least for the moment. He was prepared to make two suggestions to the captain. The first was that they take on two new fully-built shuttles ready for operation. If that was not an option, then he'd have to acquire the necessary missing components at Geneva that would allow the engineering and flight operations maintenance teams to start a rebuild. The former would be faster, but the later had a number of bonuses as well. Training opportunities, team building, and technical proficiency amongst them. In the end it really depended on what the captain wanted where the ship's support craft were concerned. He settled into his chair, glad to finally be seated today after all the work he'd been doing all day. Soon the debriefing would start and it would be back to business as normal. He looked up and saw that everyone seemed ready to get started. "Let's begin. I would like to have department reports first." Waiting for that awkward silence in between reports Henry cleared his throat and motioned that he would like to be the next to give his report. He stood up and walked over to a wall console to activate the holographic display protocols. "Before you is a of the different technologies that the bandits had acquired to build there ships. There was technology jerry rigged from the Cardassians, Telerites, Bengali and klingons. It seems like they acquired tech from everyone who came through the Sull Path." He walked back around to his seat while he continued to talk. "As for the state of affairs of the ship. We are back at operating capacity. All residual radiation has been taken care of from the Broken Wing weapon and cloaked mines. Minor damage was taken during the actual fire fight with the other ships. So minor that our own repairs will be complete before returning to Geneva." He hit a command on the remote-sized console in front of his chair and the holographic display disappeared. Turning his attention to the captain he switched his concerns. "Captain, if I may, there is something else I would like to bring up. Although we are efficiently running engineering I cannot pass up the opportunity to ask about the status of crew transfers. Our numbers are dwindling and we definitely need more crew members down in engineering." (reply Capps) "Understood. Thats all to report from Engineering" (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - Conference Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 1014) Everyone had given their department report and it seemed everything was adjusting back to normal. It moved to engineering and after a very complete brief from the new chief engineer, Ensign Jacobs turned his attention to a matter that the Captain didn't see coming. "Captain, if I may, there is something else I would like to bring up. Although we are efficiently running engineering I cannot pass up the opportunity to ask about the status of crew transfers. Our numbers are dwindling and we definitely need more crew members down in engineering." Captain Capps took the time to think for a second. He knew that Ensign Jacobs was only concerned about his department and for the personnel that worked within. "Ensign Jacobs please write up a report of your needs for engineering. We can then discuss how we can meet these needs. In general," he turned to everyone at the meeting. "I am certain that we will be receiving some new crew when we reach Geneva." (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Boudicca - Conference Room - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 1020) After all the business was taken care of it was now time to move on to something Calvin had been waiting for for a long time. Ever since he became a command officer he always dreamed of being able to give promotions and commendations as the CO of a station. It was now time for one of his dreams to come true. He cleared his throat and stood from his chair. "There are several officers in this room that deserve recognition for their loyalty and hard work during our mission in the Sull Sector. First I would ask that Ensign Caspian please stand up." (reply Caspian) "Ensign Caspian joined our team as a medical officer and her talents are very highly spoken of by her fellow crew members. I am happy to say that Ensign Caspian has gladly accepted her new role as Chief Counselor!" Captain Capps began to clap. (reply Caspian, all) Once everyone has settled down and Ensign Caspian sat down Calvin continued. "I would now like for Ensign Saryn to stand up and to come forward." (reply Saryn) As the doctor moved Calvin reached for the first black box on the table and opened it. The doctor now stood directly in front of the Captain. As Calvin spoke he looked into the eyes of Ensign Saryn. "You have served in the medical department as acting chief medical officer and have done a magnificent job. For that I promote you to Lieutenant junior grade." The Captain took the small black pip that was outlined in gold and placed it on to the collar of the new Lieutenant. (reply Saryn) "Also, Doctor Saryn, you helped ward off the intruders that attempted to take over our ship. For your fast reaction and bravery I award you with the combat action ribbon." He took the second item out of the box and placed it on to the doctor's uniform. (reply Saryn) Captain Capps began to clap again. After Mia sat down Calvin continued. "Ensign Trei please stand up and come forward." (reply Trei) When the Ensign made it to the Captain, Calvin wasted no time. "Ensign Trei, you have also served in your department valiantly. I promote you to Lieutenant junior grade." Captain Capps reached into the second black box and pinned a second pip to the security officer's uniform." (reply Trei) "Lieutenant Trei, you served this ship and its crew with fearlessness and gallantry. You were a key reason why the Boudicca was so successful against Toulin and his men. I award you with the combat action ribbon." Calvin smiled and took the medal out of the box and placed it on the uniform of Lt. Trei. (reply Trei) Once Trei took his seat and everyone stopped clapping, Captain Capps spoke up. "Lieutenant Rinn please come forward." (reply Rinn) "Mr. Rinn, it is no secret that you came up with some ingenious plans to not only save yourself, and not only take the bridge of the Broken Wing, but you also saved the life of Ensign Jacobs. For this outstanding duty I award you with a combat action ribbon and a captain's commendation." Captain Capps took each medal out one at a time and placed them on to the chest of Deynyk. (reply Rinn) Once again the clapping died down as Lt. Rinn sat down. Calvin looked around the room and saw the last person he would be giving a medal to. "Ensign Jacobs please stand up and come forward." (reply Jacobs) "Ensign Jacobs, I have never met an engineer that has such a strong passion for their department. You have done an excellent job with engineering and your crew speaks highly of you. I am happy to announce you as chief engineer. With your promotion of title you will also receive the promotion in rank to Lieutenant junior grade." Calvin took the pip out of the last black box and placed it on the appropriate collar. (reply Jacobs) "Mr. Jacobs, you were also part of this previous mission in a big way. It was very unfortunate that you were captured by our enemy. But as you were a prisoner you were able to help the Boudicca trace Toulin and his men and allowed us to be successful in our mission. I award you with the prisoner of war medal." Captain Capps placed the medal on to Lt. Jacobs chest. (reply Jacobs) "And let us not forget, that Lt. Jacobs also helped save engineering when we were first boarded by Toulin. For your swift action I award you with the combat action ribbon." Calvin reached into the box for the last time and applied the medal. (reply Jacobs) Henry sat down and Calvin began to close the meeting. "You have all served the Boudicca well and it was because you that we were successful in our mission. Each of you deserve some R&R. We have a 9 day trip back to Geneva. You will have regular duty shifts but enjoy your time off as we make it back to base. You are all dismissed." Then Elizabeth smiled has Mia was called and promoted, and was made the Chief Medical Officer. It was a turn of events that Elizabeth couldn't be happier about. Mia and Elizabeth would continue to work together but no be directly under each others supervision. With both Mia and Lizzy both being with in the same department Elizabeth had to keep secret the feelings that she had sealed away so long ago. (posted by Matthew Locke) (USS Boudicca - Conference Room - aCOPS Lt. Deynyk Rinn - 1025) The last day or so had been busy for Deynyk. The raw materials had to be assembled and shipped to the colony and the newly recovered materials had to be received, inspected and restored to their appropriate cargo holding locations. On top of that, he'd been busy trying to get a good stock of their current rotable and spares supplies for the shuttles. So for a change, a staff meeting was actually welcomed, if only because it gave Deynyk a chance to get off his feet for a little while. The work of giving departmental reports was over, and for a brief instant Dey was a little concerned that the briefing would draw short and he'd be back to work dealing with the inventory issues. Instead, he was pleasantly surprised when the captain moved to another phase of his work, that of promotions and commendations. He listened intently as the rank and file of the ship began to reform according to the captain's wishes and desires. Eventually the captain called his name. Deynyk would have been surprised, but he had come to realize exactly how much his idiotic charge into the teeth of death could have cost him. It was a fine line between leaping into action out of desperation and doing so out of calculated bravery. So Deynyk rose from his seat and advanced to the appropriate spot before Captain Capps. "Mr. Rinn, it is no secret that you came up with some ingenious plans to not only save yourself, and not only take the bridge of the Broken Wing, but you also saved the life of Ensign Jacobs. For this outstanding duty I award you with a combat action ribbon and a captain's commendation." Captain Capps took each medal and one at a time and placed them on Deynyk's chest. "Thank you Captain." Deynyk replied, a touch of pride in his voice. This was the first commendation that Rinn had earned in this host body and it was a moment that he was happy to be able to witness along side his host. It was a very good moment to be recognized once again for his service, although admittedly this was a completely different sort of action. Deynyk returned to his seat, as the captain completed his cycle of promotions and commendations. That done, he dismissed the assembled officers with a notice that they would be arriving at Geneva soon. As they were all beginning to separate, Deynyk heard his named called and turned to see Jacobs rapidly approaching. "Lt. Rinn, if I could have a word?" he said. "Of course, Dey replied as he stepped closer to the wall to permit a smoother flow of traffic exiting the room. "What can I help you with?" "It's about your report, I'd like to get together with you about your plans for reconstruction of the shuttles for the Boudicca. I am sure we can make great headway with their constructions before we get back to Geneva." Henry explained. "Well, to be honest Henry, I'm almost more tempted to just requisition replacements, Building a shuttle or two will deplete our raw materials and spares reserves to dangerous levels; especially since we've turned over so much raw material to the pirate colony recently. But we can discuss it, you might be able to persuade me differently. When are you available to talk in more detail?" "I am available when you are, just send me a message and I can meet you in the shuttle bay." "Alright, but it might be better to just go ahead and schedule a meeting now rather than forget it later. How's 1000 hours tomorrow sound?" (posted by Daniel Greene) (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - CEO Lt. I am happy to announce you as chief engineer. With your promotion of title you will also receive the promotion in rank to Lieutenant junior grade." Calvin took the pip out of the last black box and placed it on the appropriate collar. Jacobs smiled a smile of relief as he was wondering if his actions were being recognized. With his promotion his curiosity was put to rest and he was glad that he was able to perform his duty and protect the crew and the ship. Henry gracefully accepted his promotion to CEO and rank promotion to Lt. (jg). He also appreciated the two medals he received for his actions in the line of duty. Jacobs returned to his seat as the captain brought the meeting to an end. The crew remained on regular duty ships but all other time would be for recreational use. As much as he did not want to go through with it Henry knew that he needed to get the business of talking to the counselor out of the way. He waited for everyone to rise from their seats and then he made his way over to Counselor Caspien. "Hello Counselor, congratulations on the position." (reply Caspian) "I'd actually appreciate it if I was your first patient. It is really under orders that I am to talk to you, but if I am going to have to talk to anyone, I do not see why it wouldn't be with you." (reply Caspian) Before he spoke again he looked through his mental calender to see what he had to do before the Boudicca made it back to Starbase Geneva. His attention was brought to the upcoming thursday where he had no specific plans. "If you are available, I would like to come see you in three days. I am sure by then you will be comfortable in your new office?" (reply Caspian) "Sounds good to me see you then." Henry pivotted as he saw Lt. Rinn almost out of the Observation Lounge doors. "Lt. It is really under orders that I am to talk to you, but if I am going to have to talk to anyone, I do not see why it wouldn't be with you." Jacobs responded. "I see." lizzy answered. "Well when is good for you." "If you are available, I would like to come see you in three days. I am sure by then you will be comfortable in your new office?" "Thank you Lt. Jacobs, I'll see you then." It was then that Lizzy turned and walked from the observation lounge and off to do what needed to be done and there were so many things that needed to be done. (posted by Matthew Locke) (USS Boudicca - Observation Lounge - Science Officer Ensign Nickolas Romanoff - 1045) Science was usually always last to give its report. For the most part this was because during the missions there was not that much participation for the department. This was fine for Nickolas because it meant that there was not someone always depending on him to do something. He enjoyed playing on the sidelines and being able to hold his own when the situation called for it. This time around he actually was instrumental in finding the stolen shuttlecraft and plotting a safe course through the Sull Path. When the Captain gestured for the report from the science department Nickolas stood and addressed everyone at the table. The report he had was small but contained information that pertained to ship business. "Due to the time we spent in the here I have been able to extensively catalog the expanse of the Sull Path. Star charts have been updated and loaded into the ships archives and will be available for Starfleet upon our arrival at Geneva station." Looking around the room it seemed like there was not a soul interested in what he had to say and this observation didn't bother him as he liked to stay out of the limelight. He was anxious to sit back down and move on to what the Captain had to say but his report was not finished. ~Almost done~ he thought to himself as he changed the holographic display over the table to information on the bandits that inhabited the expanse. "We now have adequate information on the people we dealt with during the mission. The little bit of cultural and historical information they submitted to us has also been uploaded and is available for review." He switched the holographic displays again to display a star chart of the current course of the Boudicca, with Starbase Geneva at the end point. "Long range sensors detect no abnormalities on our way back to Starbase Geneva, so it should be smooth sailing all the way back to port." He sat down feeling accomplished and relieved that his report was finished. (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - TAC/S ENS(SG) Detron Trei - 1300) He walked into Sickbay intent on speaking his peace to Saryn. He marched up to her. "We need to talk now!" Mia looked at him calmly and said, “Okay. Come into my office.” She sighed as she entered the room and sat down, saying, “How can I be of assistance?” (posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 13.05) After calming down a bit, he began to explain to Saryn his position . You need to understand the way a Klingon Warrior responds to danger especially if it involves a threat the crew. A Klingon always responds with battle instinct first to take out the threat then assesses the situation from there. When the Intruders fired on us, the warrior battle rage kicked in to save the crew. After that I may have been rough on the prisoner taking him to CDR Jackson's position. They drew first blood. You have dis honored me with your complaint. You will have to do a great deal to square our relationship again. Help me understand you in this matter." (posted by Edward Engel) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - Act CMO Ensign Mia Saryn - 13.07) Mia listened to the man and then replied, "In my line of work, we are taught to respect the person we have under our care. To not mis-treat them and to do everything in our power as doctors, to safe guard them. Even if they are the worst person." She leant forward and rested her hands on her desk and continued, "To see someone be something that i am not grates with me. Saryn has seen many people like this and it pains him as well. If i have wronged you with this complaint, then i am sorry. However i stand by it. The use of excessive force, no matter who the person is is not something that i condone nor ever will." (posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Sickbay - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 13.10) He listened to her explain herself and her position on the matter. He sort of expected that kind of response from her in terms of the medical perspective. He continued. "Very well. I understand but you still don't understand me. You need to be shown something to convince you. Follow me to Holodeck 1." (posted by Edward Engel) (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 13.20) He asked the computer if his Rite of Ascention program was still listed. Being confirmed that it was, he told the computer to load it. When it loaded, he entered with Saryn after him. The scene depicted the ceremony as it transpired that day. "Run program." The computer put the program in motion. He turned to Saryn. "Watch and learn" (posted by Edward Engel) (USS Boudicca - Holodeck 1 – aCMO Ensign Mia Saryn - 13.22) Mia nodded and, despite the fact she had known many Klingons and Saryn had been privy to this particular Rite a number of times, she knew it was important for this man to show her this. After a moment, she asked, “Mr Trei, why did you choose this particular Rite?” (posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Boudicca - Holodeck ! - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 13.25) Saryn asked why he showed her this specific Rite. He explained. "The Rite proves that a warrior can overcome pain to achieve an ultimate goal. It proves that nothing but death will stop a warrior from completing a mission. Tell me what drives you to that level of determination/" (posted by Edward Engel) (USS Boudicca - CO Quarters - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 1730) Calvin had been waiting patiently all day for his shift to end. With the Boudicca's mission over, the Captain planned to follow his own orders to his men and women; to take some R&R. For Calvin that meant doing some role playing in the holodeck. His favorite subject in Earth's history had always been ancient Rome. In Calvin's personal quarters Calvin secured an area in the main room to show off his ownership of many ancient roman pieces. Is was at times like now when these items were removed from their stands. He stood in front of a full length mirror as he placed the red tunic over his head. The tunic dropped from his shoulders down to his upper knee. He then took the silver scaled armor and put it on. It took some time but he tied the armor together in the front. On the floor laid a standard set of sandals that would be worn by legionaries. Calvin picked up the gladius and its sheath. The sheath held a 3 foot chain that Calvin wrapped around his right shoulder leaving the short sword to hang next to his left hip. The pugio was on his right waist ready to be drawn if needed. The last piece of armor, the helmet was raised and put on the CO's head. It had a red plume, laid horizontally, on top. Calvin was now ready to have some serious fun. He moved to leave his quarters, but before he did so he stopped at the door to pick up the large shield and the pilum that would be needed in his holodeck program. (posted by Calvin Capps) (USS Boudicca - Holodeck - CO Captain Calvin Capps - 1800) Calvin sat at a very simple made 2 person wooden table. It had only been created hours before by some legionaries. The wood had come from the small forest the 22nd Legion was camped beside. It was barely sturdy enough to hold Calvin's plate of food. Although Calvin was a Centurion in this specific scenario his rank didn't hold the privileges of the best food. He was still served the same nutrition that the legionaries and auxiliary units were given. His plate held a hard stale, but large, piece of bread. It had been made within hours of the camp being put together. His drink, a potent and strong wine helped the bread go down more easily. There would be no hot meat to eat, for it had been used up during their 6 month march to the Gaul territory. The resupply caravan had not made it to their new camp yet. The Centurion did however enjoy his own 10X10 tent complete with a water bowl for cleaning, a comfortable but small cot and of course the table he was currently eating on. As he ate silently he could hear the ruckus and loud speak of the roman army outside. His men which consisted of the 1st cohort, totaling 800 mean had just finished digging the ramparts around the new camp. It was hard and labor intensive work, but each roman knew their duties and did it without complaint. Such complainers would receive a whack from the centurion's rod. Suddenly, a loud horn could be heard. As he was only eating and not yet lying in bed he still wore his armor and weapons. He quickly stood from the chair and grabbed his helmet and shield as he left his tent. Once the flap was open, the hot burning sun hit the Centurion's eyes blinding him for a moment. Once his eye site fully recovered he looked around for the signal from the command tent which was always positioned in the middle of the camp. The Legatus, the commander of the 22nd Legion was calling for battle formations on top of the nearby hill from their camp. It would seem the battle would be commencing soon or this was a drill. Calvin's cohort being the 1st cohort of the legion held the most experienced and respected legionnaires. Even though there were more men inside of the 1st cohort they were the 1st to reach the hill and sat up their standard formations. Their standard formation consisted of 8 men in a line and 10 deep. The first cohort consisted of a total of 10 of these smalled groups called Centuria. The complete 1st Cohort would have been 80 men in the first line and 10 deep. Calvin could see from his perch at the back of his cohort the enemy had emerged from their town walls. The Legatus had said that these Gauls would come out. The town was a large town therefor held a good size army, probably around 10,000. The 22nd Legion consisted of around 5,000 fighting professional army men. The Gauls, according to the Legatus, believed their 2:1 ratio was enough to defeat the roman army. Calvin laughed as he saw the 10,000 strong Gaul army for he knew that the Legatus was correct in his assessment. The opposing army had stopped at this point as they watched the 22nd Legion sat up its file and rank. The battlefield before them was exactly what the Romans wanted as they were more deadly in an open field with little distractions such as trees and steep hills. It took sometime before the rest of the Legion was standing by and ready. All that was needed now was for the attack command from the Legatus. Of course when the charge command did come, it wasn't intended for the 1st Cohort. The 1st Cohort normally did not attack on the first wave. It was held for the opposing stronger army and the Gauls had only sent their light infantry in first. A test maybe, but the Roman Legatus was not one for games. He sent the 4th and 8th Cohort towards the Gauls incoming force. Surprisingly, the Gauls first attack included archers. Once the Centurions of the 4th and 8th Cohort realized this they gave the all stop to their respected army. Even though the battle field was now filled with loud screaming Calvin could hear the Roman officers yell their next order, "Tortoise!" No matter how many times Calvin watched this part in any scenario, it never got old and it always took his breath away. Immediately after the Centurion gave the order 480 men in unison moved their shields upward and over their heads. Allowing their shield to overlap with the person's shield in front of them above their heads. The first line held their shields to protect the front of the line and 2nd line protected the first line's head. All 6 Centuria in each cohort looked like a square shell of a turtle and would be protected by the volley of arrows headed their way. The arrows hit with a loud thud that could be heard back to where Calvin was standing. Some of the arrows did hit their mark knocking a few Romans to the ground. The Centruia held their position however and waited for the arrows to stop raining down on them. As soon as the Centurion deemed it was safe to move back into regular formation he did so with a single command. Just as the units moved in to the tortoise formation in one quick motion they did the same to move out of the specialized formation. The 4th and 8th Cohort at this point ran at full speed toward the Gauls. Their lines shattered together created a wall on each side. Calvin had studied enough Roman tactics to know that this was the time for his Cohort to enter the battle and clean up. Calvin looked over at the command station and could see the signal. The Centurion drew his sword and screamed out, "Double speed, march!" For some reason, she was incrediably nervous about this dinner. It felt like a monumental occasion, like something was about to be revealed. She knew Saryn was terrified and that just made her feel a lot worse. Reaching for the small black box that was on the table next to her, she held it in hands and closed her eyes. .: Okay last chance. What happened?:. .: Please, Mia. Don’t do this. I’m begging you.:. .: Saryn, you’ve never hidden anything from me before. Why are you doing this now?":. .: I can’t.....:. Elizabeth wasted no time with her plans but even when the time came to arrive at Mia's quarters, she still felt like she had tons to do. But Elizabeth knew she had to get this over with. Mia was quickly becoming a close friend and what Lizzy had to tell her would either tear them apart or bring them together like nothing else could. To say she was nervous has she pressed the door chime was an understatement. She had a chance to gain answers to the biggest mystery of her life. Her future laid just beyond the door. Hearing the noise, Mia stood but didn't walk to the door straight away. Taking a moment to try and calm her nerves, she walked to the door and opened it, saying, "Hi. Come on in." She walked though the door way, a cheerful smile on her face. "Thank you." Elizabeth spoke happily as the door closed behind her. Elizabeth then turned to Mia then threw her arms around her in a friendly embrace. "Congratulations, I wanted to find you earlier and tell you but since we both had our own departments to run I could find the time." She released her friend has she took in her apartment and all it held, before turning on Mia again. "Something smells wonderful." Mia watched her friend look around and, suddenly, a feeling ran through her that she wasn't expecting. A familiarity with her touch. Shaking it off, she walked to the table and said, "If it's one thing us trills do well, it's cook. Lifetimes of experience." She grinned. ~What is going on here?~ she thought to herself and then remembered who she was around. Turning away from her, she walked to the kitchen and said, "I hope you like seafood." Elizabeth walked over to the table. "Yes, I do in fact." Elizabeth answered Mia's question. Elizabeth was a master at hiding her thoughts and feelings from the world. After all that was one of the first things she learned as she grew up with her telepathic abilities. Sayrn was not privileged to such training, and even now Elizabeth could feel him trying to hide with in Mia. Elizabeth could feel his madness of emotions that welled from the symbiont. Elizabeth sat at the table, she was purposly not talking to the Sayrn. Not out of malice though, She was giving him one last chance to come clean on there shared past. Biting her lip, she walked in with the starter, a smoked salmon and prawn dish that she had gotten from Saryn. He quivered inside her as she lay it in front of Lizzy and said, "Enjoy." she took her seat and began to eat quietly. After a moment, she couldn't stand the silence any more and said, "What happened?" Placing her fork down, she continued, "He won't tell me. I'm asking you as a friend, what happened?" Lizzy ate slowly. Mia sudden question didn't surprise Lizzy, in fact Elizabeth was expecting it. Elizabeth started slowly, calmly. "Mia, my friend that's why I'm here tonight." She raised her hand to silence Mia. "I had hoped that it would not have to come to this that Sayrn would have in fact told you what happened. For there are details that are not known to me either." Elizabeth took a deep breath before continuing the moment of truth was at hand. "Nearly ten years ago, I was in love. The man was handsome, caring, and everything I wished a man to be. He proposed, I said yes and was never happier. Until the day came that we were to be married and..." She took a deep breath has her emotional shielding broke and the next words caught in her throat. She forced them out. "He never showed. I was left alone to tell everyone we invited that he was no were to be found. He was Sayrn." She spoke his name coldly has the pain from her past tore though her. Now it was out in the open now she could if nothing else gain her closure. She froze to the spot. Not knowing what to say to her, she closed her eyes and felt a tear run down her face. .: God damn you, you stubborn son of a ....:. .: I couldn't, Mia. I wanted to. I never meant to hurt her. I truly didn't. :. .: Then why didn't you tell.....:. she stopped as the realisation of what had happened that fateful day hit her with full force. ***************** Mia stood before Saryn and stared at his outfit. She knew that this was the day he had chosen to marry his love but she was still hurt that he had not chosen to tell her. Sighing, she said, “Why......Oh never mind. Does she make you happy?” “Yes.” he said simply. Smiling, she replied, “That's all that matters.” Walking to the closed curtains, she said, “This is a happy day. Don't hide in the dark.” she threw the curtains open and realised as soon as she had done that it was a bad mistake. She spotted the sniper on a rooftop opposite them. Time passed slowly as she dove out of sight and then heard the glass crack. Looking up, she saw Saryn fall to the ground. Crying out, she crawled to his side and lifted his head gently and said, “Saryn, stay with me. Please.” He opened his eyes, tiredly and said, “Time.... Please tell her.... love her.... don't want to....” He gasped several times and then lay still. Tears streamed down her face as she kissed his forehead gently and said, “Sleep well.” *************** Opening her eyes, she looked at Lizzy with sorrow in her eyes and said, "He never meant to leave." Gripping the box, she opened it and saw the ring that he had given to her as a sign of their love. Now it meant something else. Sighing, she said, "I was with him that day. He never told me about you. I found out that he was lying to me and i walked in just......." She lowered her face, not able to look at the woman that was so hurt, that was her friend. "What, What happened." Elizabeth asked desperation evident in her voice. Tears welled in her eyes as she pleaded "Please Mia tell me what happened, I need to know." The knowledge that Mia was with Sayrn, her beloved on that day, that the answers she had long since given up hope of finding so close to her grasp pushed her strained emotions just that more closer to the breaking point. She opened her eyes and said, "He didn't want to leave you. He still loves you." She got up and knelt by her friend's side, took her hand in hers and said, "Lizzy, he died. He died right there in my arms. Someone shot him...." She began to shake as she continued, "his last words were of you. He said, tell her i love her." 'He died' those words along with those that followed struck and tore the heart from Elizabeth. All strength drained from Elizabeth has she fell from the chair and into Mia's arms. She finally allowed herself to do something she waited ten years to do, She cried. Tears fell free from her face has the truth settled in upon her. Elizabeth buried her face into Mia's shoulder finding comfort there, has she grieved for her lose. Mia held her close and cried with her. She could tell that Saryn was relieved that the truth was now out but still hurt for the upset he had caused. Without thinking, she placed her hands on her friend's face and wiped the tears from her eyes and said, "I'm so sorry." She kissed her gently on her cheek, "He really is sorry." Looking into her eyes, Mia felt the strength of their love and the feeling warmed her. After a moment, she leant forward and kissed her gently on her lips. Realising what she had done, she pulled back and said, " I shouldn't have....." Elizabeth realised something in that moment. That while Mia's kiss was softer, more gentle but it was still Sayrn's kiss. Elizabeth could feel his warmth, his love behind Mia. Sayrn never meant to make Lizzy cry so and he hated seeing her in such a state. Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Mia's neck and kissed her passionately, searching for the love that she knew lived on with in Mia. It wasn't long before Mia returned her embrace and Elizabeth knew she had found the love she had lost so long ago, and in that moment she got lost in it. (posted by Jackie Smith and Matthew Locke) (USS Boudicca, Ensign Saryn's quarters- aCMO Ensign Mia Saryn - 2158) Mia's eyes opened slowly and she sighed. What had happened after the confession had been amazing, wonderful and definitely eye opening. There's something I need to do.” (Reply Caspian) Smiling, she said, “I won't be long. Promse.” she kissed her lightly again and quickly dressed. Walking out of her quarters, she stopped just outside the door and allowed the enormity of what had happened to fly over her. Closing her eyes a moment, she felt the power of Saryn's love for the woman now asleep in her bed mingling with her own and it gave her great pleasure but also made her unsure. ~Is this me that feels this way or is it all Saryn.~ she thought to herself. Suddenly, she knew where she had to go and whom she had to speak to. (USS Boudicca, Captain Capps' Quarters – aCMO Ensign Mia Saryn – 2205) Standing outside Capps' quarters, she sighed and pressed the panel outside. Waiting for him to answer, she began to get nervous. (jg) Henry Jacobs - 0630) Punctuality was becoming more and more important to Henry as the days passed along. He wanted to make sure that when he was given a deadline or a time to have something completed that he was done well before that time with extra to spare. This heavily altered his routine for getting up in the morning so that he had plenty of time to address any issues before his shift started. This morning was no different. He had been awake already for quite some time making sure he had time to have his morning coffee and breakfast. He normally would forgo breakfast in order to maximize on his sleeping time but because he was awake there was no reason for him not to eat. He was sitting in one of the standard issue cushioned chairs drinking his coffee when he happened to glance over at bathroom entrance. The clothes hamper had been positioned there and he noticed set of used uniforms hanging off of the top. The only reason the uniform took his attention was because it was no normal uniform. It happened to be the one uniform that he was wearing a few days before with all the excitement of being attacked by enemy bandits and then being captured and borderline experimented on. He put the cup down and walked over to the uniform. He picked it up to notice how worn it actually was. At this point it was a very tattered piece of cloth that barely stayed together. Most notably was the large gash in the abdomen area where it had been cut to insert that explosive device that threatened Henry's and everyone else's life. Actually touching the uniform flashed him back to that entire day. What started off pleasant and productive with he and Lt. Rinn plowing the way for the Boudicca through the cloaked mine field suddenly turned stressful by being abducted by a renegade prisoner of engagement. Henry remembered how he relied on his Academy diplomacy training to try and turn the situation around but had not received any positive results. Those actions only got him into more hot water and a prisoner aboard an enemy vessel. Even under those circumstances Henry managed to do his duty and secretly lead the Boudicca to the hidden location of the Bandits in the Sull Path. This didn't go without a price however. When pressed into a corner Becks' ingenuity seemed to exponentially grow. Making things worse she surgically turned Henry into a human bomb and threatened the strike team sent to rescue him. Reminiscing about the events of that day made the time pass quite quickly and it passed enough to be time for him to head to the counseling office for his appointment with Counselor Caspian. (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - Counseling Office - CEO Lt. (jg) Henry Jacobs - 0900) The wasn't too much time that passed in between walking from his quarters to the counseling office. "Good morning, Dr. " (reply Caspian) "It's been an uneventful morning," thinking back to his episode he spoke up again, "actually thats not entirely true." (reply Caspian) "Well it was a normal morning until I came across the uniform I was wearing on the day I was abducted. It just made me flash back to that day. It was a lot to relive." (reply Caspian) "Well isn't that why I am here? To talk it out? I really have no idea how talking about it helps me get over it?" (reply Caspian) "I am wiling to try this with your help." CEO En.jg. Stephen Getman - 1000) A slight bump spread throughout the hull. Stephen opened his eyes. ~ Out to normal space. ~ He looked around the cabin. He was still lying in his bunk, the bottom one of four, lights around still dimmed. He put the PADD he was still holding to the side of the bed, sat trying not to hit his head and rubbed his eyes with his fingers slowly. The journey was far from comfortable. The ship he had been cruising for the past few days was a converted long-range heavy-tonnage shuttle, outfitted with additional cargo space and more powerful engines, the inertial dampeners had a hard time managing the inertia of all the equipment the crew picked up on the two colonies along the way. Apart from the makeshift toilet/shower room shared with 3 cabins like his, the amenities were non-existent. The only nourishment available were military rations and a basic water dispenser. Most of the passengers, civilian engineers, scientists, and private entrepreneurs kept to themselves or slept throughout the journey. Stephen hadn't had a chance to talk with anyone, hadn't seen a uniformed officer either. Getman didn't complaint, thought. Ever since the hectic launch rush back on Earth, he was spending most of the time studying the Keltoi class specs and Boudicca crew roster. And what an interesting challenge that ship was. Having only three ships in total build with the design, and only briefly mentioned during the Academy courses due to unique design choices, not to mention a relatively recent major refit, there was still plenty Getman had to make himself familiar with. One thing was certain. ~ Won't get bored anytime soon. ~ He stood up, as quietly as possible, picked the PADD from his bed and put it back in the bag aside his bed. The captain would probably announce docking in a few moments. Too bad there were no windows in the passenger section, no-atmosphere cargo space covering 90% of the outer hull. The Truidin starbases were a treat on their own, deployed only in forward, removed regions of space where local Starfleet missions required a noticeable presence and regular support. He imagined that with the medium size of the 52nd, Geneva plays a major role guarding the subspace river terminus. Getman unknowingly touched the pip on his collar but suddenly noticed one of the passengers moving in a bed on the opposite wall. The transport he got assigned to was the fastest way of getting him to Geneva in time before the mission launch and that's what mattered for the moment. And it was the last chance to grab a shower before the landing. (posted by Bartek) (Starbase Geneva - minor arrivals section - Asst. CEO En.jg. Stephen Getman - 1200) Docking procedures completed without problems. With little baggage, Getman was one of the first to board the station. He could feel the immense size of the station almost immediately - even though the shuttle used one of the smaller docking ports, the corridors leading from where Stephen was standing was over 5 meters in height and even more in width. He rarely experienced this kind of enclosed space even on Earth. From the point where he was standing he could clearly see the corridors branching out into huge open areas in the distance, sounds of machinery echoing between endless walls. Cargo was apparently being offloaded on the adjacent levels. Yet, there was only little commotion. Getman approached a huge observation window several meters away, with other passengers behind him still leaving the shuttle. Looking out the viewport could only confirm that there were just a couple smaller ships docked inside the starbase, most of the fleet probably away on various missions. One shape did draw Getman's attention. The Keltoi class could not be mistaken with anything else, but being docked on the far end of the enormous hangar the details were hard to make out. Stephen took a peek at the time. There was little left, too little for any sightseeing. Getman sighed quietly, he knew this wasn't the last time he visited the station. He grabbed his bag from the deck and started marching quickly through the corridors toward docking port "12A", as specified on the large arrivals/departures message board just above the bulkhead he came through from the shuttle minutes before. (posted by Bartek) (USS Boudicca, saucer section - Asst. CEO En.jg. Stephen Getman - 1255) The walk was a long one, fortunately there were turbolifts specifically for ferrying personnel and cargo horizontally around the docks. Having to switch between lifts several times, cargo being their priority, he finally chosen to walk the last piece of the distance by feet. Admirable views notwithstanding, he had to hurry if he was to report in time. He only caught a brief glimpse of Boudicca exterior, fore hull sporting a few bold scratches. The vessel certainly saw its share of action. Yet, this only added to the predatory feel of overall design. Classified as a long-range explorer these days, just by it looks one could surmise the lady could pack some serious punches. Getman boarded the ship through a personnel catwalk linking directly to the saucer section. Upon clearing his entry with the OPS officer guarding the entry and consulting a local computer terminal for Captain Capps' location, he entered the nearby turbolift heading straight to deck 01. Intrepid was one design Getman could pick from the top of his head, for which corridors bared similarity to those he was walking through now. Obviously the layouts were massively incomparable, Getman glad to have memorized them during the journey, but other than that the immediate impression was in line with other modern designs. Upon reaching the door to Captain's ready room the chime ranged automatically. After a moment a male voice invited him, doors opened. He entered, putting his bag aside the door and coming to attention, the senior officer ranked captain, at the other end of the office. "Captain, ensign Stephen Getman reporting for duty."
