Then there was a very annoying beeping noise in his ear instead. What was that? He took a deep breath of the sea air and opened his eyes. The alarm had clearly been going off for some time. He stumbled out of bed and across the room, running his fingers through his messy hair. "Coffee, black." He whispered scratchily to the replicator. "Please state selection again." The computer responded in the disgusting cheerful, neutral tone it used for everything. "COFFEE. BLACK." He yelled. "NOW!" The room filled with the sweet aroma of the coffee and he sighed in relief. He picked up the cup and sat in a chair close by, sipping on the hot coffee and letting it warm his body. When Tian had finished his coffee, he yawned and decided he had best get moving and take a shower. Moving slowly across the room to the bathroom as he stripped off his night clothes. He flicked the bathroom light on and then the hot water. He took a deep breath and stepped in. The water was hot, probably hotter than most people would enjoy but it felt good on Tian's tired body. He just stood there under the spray letting the hot water wash the sleep off his body and silently thanked god for coffee and hot showers, knowing that without them he would never get out of bed before noon. Once he'd finished his shower he wrapped a towel around his waist and walked back into the main room where his uniform was laid out. He felt the familiar sense of pride as he put it on. If only his father could see him now. Tian sighed and smiled at this thought as he picked up the pip from the table and clipped it to his uniform. He was ready to start his day. (posted by Richard Tomlin) (USS Boudicca - Cargo Bay 1 - CEO Ensign Ryan Jericho - 0540) Ryan yawned a grizzly yawn, placing his one free hand over his mouth trying to contain the escaping bit of air. The other hand was occupied with carrying the third post of replicated coffee from the dispenser over to the work terminal where Ryan had spent the last 17 hours working. At this point the coffee had failed to energize the ensign, at this point it only acted as an agent that prevented him from dozing off. There was no rest for this department head as he worked nonstop to dissect every virtual inch of memory and storage that was within the computers that the Boudicca crew retrieved from Color II. These computers were just as stubborn as any modern computer seemed to be but for some reason Ryan knew that this particular computer was possessed and actively refused to comply. Jericho's abilities and patience was being tested hour after hour as the Coloran encryption algorithms set in place would not give. In his scanning of the information that was readily available he noticed quite a few fragmented files that had not been addressed in quite a while. Since he was not making progress with the encrypted files he shifted focus and wanted to see what was available in the fragment files. "Computer run a level one de fragmentation diagnostic" Thirty-four seconds passed and the computer alerted him. [Defragmentation complete. 34 files recovered] ~lets take a look shall we~ The recovered files formed a folder that seemed to be exactly what Ryan was looking for. "Come check this out" (Reply Armstrong) "Would you do something like that in case you forgot an encryption?" (Reply Armstrong) "Some had intentionally defragmented the folder that contained these file," Ryan declared, and the statement was correct. In an attempt to always have encryption codes readily available, the programmer defragmented the files and stored them covertly in the same computer as the encrypted data. "Hiding in plain sight!" (Reply Armstrong) "Alright we found what we needed to proceed. Let's see where this takes us" (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (USS Boudicca - Cargo Bay 1 - ENSjg Harvey Armstrong - 0542) For the time frame leading up to their search for the Aquarii and the days subsequent, Harvey had spent his hours, full days researching the information they had gathered from the computers and reevaluating his time on Color II. Constant review, organization and logging of the data obtained had brought some new information but very little. The gear they had brought back was limited, less than a third of what he had planned but time had been of the essence and the opposing forces had been very thorough in their counter-intelligence activities. Harvey had spent several of those shifts working with Ryan Jericho someone he was beginning to like somewhat. Ryan had been working with him for the early hours this morning as both seemed to be highly dedicated to their work and making Boudicca safe and ready for their next encounter. The recovered files formed a folder that seemed to be exactly what Ryan was looking for. "Come check this out" Harvey stretched as he got up. “What do you have sir?” Harvey asked. “Find something useful?” "Would you do something like that in case you forgot an encryption?" Harvey looked at the files scrolling across the screen, they were fragmented. “What would be the point, you would think it would be found far too easily, surely it isn’t this easy, Its clever but too easily identified. Check it out, defrag the thing and see what happens, can’t hurt.” "Some had intentionally defragmented the folder that contained these file," Ryan declared, and the statement was correct. In an attempt to always have encryption codes readily available, the programmer defragmented the files and stored them covertly in the same computer as the encrypted data. "Hiding in plain sight!" “I think we have stumbled across a gold mine, perhaps this will reveal more about our enemy in general as well, they might be a race or group that deceives in plain sight.. It is so easy, maybe we should go slow, watch for hidden encryptions, they might be trying to lead us in some false direction. But do it.” Harvey said. "Alright we found what we needed to proceed. Let's see where this takes us" “Do you think we should detach this machine from the main computer, I am truthfully concerned that we will accidently transmit a virus or other attack program from this machine to our main computer files.” Harvey said. “Looks as safe as we can make it, explore the thing let’s follow it to its end.” Harvey asked. “How long before we bring other members of the staff in on this one?” (posted by Andy Collette) (USS Boudicca - Cargo Bay One - CEO Ensign Ryan Jericho - 0557) Ryan had his hands full opening file after file from the encrypted folders he and Ensign Armstrong managed to break into. Every file contained star charts, planetary population surveys, atmospheric rotational analysis, and everything else that would be important in gathering information for colonization purposes. The only thing was Ryan was quite sure that this information would not be used for that. "What do you think they would want with all this information?" (Reply Armstrong) He thought about what the science officer said and developed a hypothesis of his own. The away team from the Boudicca had already encountered the illegal use of Teravere on Color II and assumed that the work being done was to weaponize the substance. It was possible that all this data could be used for possible testing targets. It was still all speculation and more work needed to be done before he had anything to show to Captain Capps. "Do you see anything else of importance that I may have overlooked?" (Reply Armstrong) Henry could no longer neglect the fact that the both of them were exhausted and needed some rest. If there was anything else for them to find they would have to do it after a good night's rest and a relaxing sonic shower. "Well we are done here. Go get some rest. You can take another crack at this in the afternoon. As a matter of fact I have other obligations in engineering, you and Ensign Romanoff will continue work on this." The only thing was Ryan was quite sure that this information would not be used for that. "What do you think they would want with all this information?" “There are several immediate hypotheses that come to mind. They might be trying to colonize a new planet.” Harvey smiled the answer was a ridiculous idea or was it. “They could be trying to develop computer models using real time, live data of an actual place they intend to attack over various land masses for complete coverage of an airborne version of the Teravere. I would consider this a likely answer.” Harvey stated. “They might be planning a vacation sir.” He thought about what the science officer said and developed a hypothesis of his own. "Do you see anything else of importance that I may have overlooked?" “Nothing of real substance to be extracted here sir. If I could have a little time to gather some additional intel on several topics and then forward an informed hypothesis of my own I am sure there is something of true value here.” Harvey replied stifling a yawn which had been building for several hours. “We have been working for two shifts non-stop even the best of the best have to take a break sir.” Henry could no longer neglect the fact that the both of them were exhausted and needed some rest. If there was anything else for them to find they would have to do it after a good night's rest and a relaxing sonic shower. "Well we are done here. Go get some rest. I of course will be sure to grant you credit for the help you have provided it would be correct for you to present our findings sir after I have drafted them if you would like.” Harvey stated in an effort to ensure that the engineering officer was credited with his additions to the overall project. (posted by Andy Collette) (USS Rosenante- Ready Room- CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1- 0600) "Captain's Log Supplemental. It's been a little longer than three weeks since our encounter with the plasma storm that nearly crippled us in the middle of Sector 6309. The Kozani we definitely up to the challenge of assisting with the extensive repairs that were needed to get the Rosenante back into peak performance. Of course none of that would have been possible without the dedication and knowledge of Lieutenant Commander Matrix, his engineering team, and Lieutenant Raschen." "While I was a little disturbed at first to find that Raschen had taken the Rosenante out of dock while I was on shore leave, I can not fault his reasoning behind doing so. A strong shakedown was definitely needed if we were going to risk another possible encounter with a spontaneous plasma storm. Still, the maneuvers that he ran the ship through are far from standard maneuvering tests, but then again, Chance Raschen is hardly your standard Starfleet officer. It appears that he is intimately familiar with the Rosenante's capabilities, enough so that he pushed her in directions and to limits, I wouldn't even have considered. The truth is that the entire affair made me a little uncomfortable, so I decided to make some discrete inquiries, concerning the lieutenant's experience with my ship. " "It appears that he was originally tapped by the Doentiz regime to captain the Rosenante when she was to be released from Space dock. I have to constantly remind myself that the Rosenante was originally built as a long-distance independent privateer craft, whose mission would have been to hunt down supply vessels and smaller weaker ships that were involved with the 52nd fleet during the civil war. It is a good match when you look at it that way, and one that I am thankful was never fulfilled. Besides, Raschen never received that posting, which was probably a good thing for everyone concerned. His apparent experience is limited to the refit and yard work during the Rosenante's original construction., And although the ship's role has changed, she is still a privateer at heart. As much as Chance Raschen is, despite his hard work in reinventing himself. It's hard for me sometimes to remember that he was on the other side, and whenever I do, there's always a lingering doubt, despite the fact that he has been nothing but trustworthy since joining my crew." "I will continue to observe and consider whether Mister Raschen was out of line or not with his actions. It's a hard decision, considering what I know about his intentions and the fact that I placed no real limitations upon him, while he was in temporary command of the ship during her repair cycle. Besides, I can't be too upset with him, he did after all make it possible for me to take advantage of some much needed shore leave." "End log." Ahmed sighed softly as he reclined back into his chair. The Ready Room was once again presentable, although he swore that the door to the compartment still stuck slightly. He just couldn't prove it. =^= Captain Salid to the Bridge=^= sounded over his commbadge. Despite being only a few feet away, Ahmed tapped his badge as he rose, "On my way." A moment later he was stepping out on to the bridge of the Rosenante. (posted by Daniel Greene) (USS Boudicca - Living Quarters - Ensign Emily Star - 0600) The lights turned on automatically and Emily groaned. She'd purposely held back the urge to set the controls for the morning to a dimmer light setting. A decision she applauded at the time but now, as the light broke her dreams and shattered her sleep, the hand that covered her eyes wished to slap herself for the decision. "Alpha shift I hate you!" Her throat was dry so the cracked words barely made it past her lips. She was tired and, above that, Emily felt rather deflated. Her pompous attitude had been stomped into a pitiful, and perhaps unnecessary, form of mild annoyance. Her mind the night before had, once again, been reviewing their last mission and as much as she loathed admiting she could have done more, Emily knew - she damn well could have done more. Her goal to leave a lasting impression had been accomplished but not, at least in her eyes, the way that she had liked. Yes, she was abrasive and perhaps a bit too cocky but when it came down to it - she held her own. It was that one factor that allowed her the ground she so proudly walked upon. Nobody would condemn her sharp tongue if they knew she stuck to every word that it created. "Enough moping.." She threw back her blanket, "Time to get to Sickbay." Although talking to ones self was not generally seen as helpful nor sane, on a Starship sometimes one found it the best company. Men in space could be distracting and the women were even worse. Emily figured she could do worse. (posted by Lillian Wood) (USS Rosenante- Bridge- COPS- Lt. Tom Jackson - Day 1- 0602) Tom had arrived early. The twins were active and he'd been up most of the night letting Dahlia rest. She took over the chore and Tom had cleaned up and went to work. He entered and reported to LT Xim "Xim I am a bit early but will take over over ops if you don't mind" (Reply: Xim) He went to his console and got an update and sat down. Tom noticed a ship at the far end of the sensor range and Xim reported this to Captain Salid. Ahmed issued his orders and the Rose went to yellow alert. They would slowly approach what appeared to be a Federation starship. Tom started the identification process. (posted by Bill West) (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1- 0605) The lights on the bridge were still dimmed slightly to remind people serving there that they were still technically on the Gamma shift. The alpha shift didn't officially begin until 0800 hours and Ahmed had a nasty habit of arriving two hours earlier in order to go over the previous two shifts reports. Lieutenant Xim, the Gamma Shift Leader was on duty watch, and he sat in the command chair with an ease that Ahmed wish he had possessed during his early career. ~Difference between a command track and an engineering track I suppose.~ he mused as he crossed towards the center chair. "Report Mister Xim." he ordered. "Captain, long range sensors have picked up a starship at the very edge of our range, bearing 302 mark 0115. Range 18.95 light years." Xim explained. "The vessel does not seem to be moving and is not sending a transponder signal. It appears to have a federation style warp drive, and the power systems on the ship appear to be at normal levels. She is not transmitting a distress signal at all." Ahmed knew that the ship in question was well outside their range for any sort of visual inspection. "curious." he replied. Xim nodded once, it was an unusual gesture for a Betelgeusean to make. Xim had picked up the habit from his human ship mates. "Let's investigate." Ahmed replied as he thought, "but let's take our time. I don't want to risk that it could be some sort of trap or that if they are undertaking illicit activity that we scare them away before we get an opportunity to figure out what's going on. See what we can do to get an identification o the ship, or at least a class. Approach cautiously and at yellow alert, with the area swimming with Cardassian and Romulans I don't want to risk falling for a simple bait and switch." "Bait and switch?" Xim asked confused. "It's a type of snare using something of interest to your prey to draw them in and cause them to actually find something other than what they expect to find, usually to their detriment." Ahmed explained. "I see, a Bait and switch." Xim replied with a single knowing nod. "How long until we arrive at the ship's location?" Ahmed asked. "Three hours at a conservative and cautious speed. On scene at roughly 0900 hours." Xim responded. "Very good, Have critical senior staff on the bridge, ask commander Matrix to man the engineering station on the bridge and have mister Raschen take the Helm. I'm going to want impressions from them right away. " "Aye captain." "Keep me advised Mister Xim, any significant changes, notify me immediately." "Yes sir." Ahmed turned to head back to his ready room, as he did so, Xim ordered the ship to yellow alert. (posted by Daniel Greene) (USS Rosenante- Bridge-COPS- Lt. Tom Jackson - Day 1-0608) Tom was enjoying s cup of hot, black coffee when Ben Soma returned at last to duty. Jackson was glad that he and Ben had discussed Tom's frustration at being reduced in rank and returned to the Rose. Pez, Tom's step-dad had somehow manipulated Tom's promotion to L.t Commander. Tom was back at home where he had served these last few years. Jackson responded to Ben's question about the recently sighted vessel. "Nothing yet on positive id. It appears that we have not been detected as yet . It's shields and weapons are in standby mode" Tom said. (posted by Bill West) (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1- 0610) Soma arrived on the bridge promptly after the ship assumed Yellow alert status, which was always a sign of a good officer. Xim quickly brought him up to speed while Ahmed attempted to scour the database for any possible signs of a ship reported missing. A cursory glance through the logs showed no such report, but the review had been very quick and not at all thorough. "Any identification on the ship?" Soma asked. "Nothing yet on positive id. It appears that we have not been detected as yet . It's shields and weapons are in standby mode" Tom replied. "Any indication that she's come under fire?" (reply Sanok) "Helm." He said. "Time to intercept?" "Two hours forty-five minutes at current speed, sir." Came the reply. Turning to Salid, Soma offered his advice, which was another reason that Ahmed liked having Soma as his first officer. He had managed to be blessed in that every one of his first officers had not be afraid to offer their opinion when they felt it necessary. "Recommend we proceed with caution Captain." "Agreed." Ahmed said with a nod, "Let's collect as much information as possible before our arrival. Assign Matrix and his people the task of attempting to make contact with that ship's transponder remotely. See if they can get an ident from it." (reply Soma) "Jackson," Ahmed said as he turned to Tom's position at operations. "Dig through the sector reports from command and see if you can find any indications of any federation ship that has been reported missing or lost in this escort within the last 30-days. Then see if we can narrow down any suspects." (reply Jackson) "Mister Sanok, dig through flight plans and see if there are any vessels assigned to this sector besides us. Check Starfleet and Civilian federation vessel plans. I'm trying to narrow down our list of possible suspects. Also see what we can determine through long range scan what type of ship that may be beyond just a Federation ship. Is she armed? if so what are her capabilities?" (reply Sanok) The doors at the back of the bridge slid open and Raschen stepped off the turbo-lift. He was still rubbing sleep from his eyes with his hands as he attempted unsuccessfully to keep from yawning "You sent for me sir?" Ahmed raised an eyebrow. "If you are capable of doing so Mister Raschen, please assume the helm. Review the ship's automated logs to bring yourself up to speed. Set a nice and easy intercept course that is cautious, but doesn't appear too cautious. I don't want to rush into things until I know more of what we may be dealing with." Chance went over and properly relieved the Gamma shift helmsman. As he sat down and placed his hands at the controls. "Captain, looking at this from a strategic standpoint I'd like to make a suggestion." Chance offered. "Let's hear it." Ahmed replied. (posted by Daniel Greene) (USS Rosenante- Main Engineering - CEO - LCDR - Day 1- 0614) "Good good...that anomaly is gone from the new auxiliary engineering core. I guess it was just that last algorithm. Bugs still show up from time to time. Let's get started on calibrating the new communication sequence with the primary array. I think the new cross-port sequencer will do nicely tired to the primary array. We can piggyback sensor readings in real time with other departments and maximize our scanner time." said Matrix "Soma to Matirix." He said. "We're currently tracking a ship with a Federation warp signature. So far we've haven't been able to id the vessel, can you remotely access the ship's transponder?" =^= Matrix here...let me punch up the scanner feed...yes...I can access the transponder. Basically a blank feed...nothing noteworthy. Almost like no one's home." replied Matrix. "Keep me apprised." Ben said. "Any sign their attempting to access our systems severe the link." =^= Understood. We'll keep monitoring and report any changes. Matrix out.=^= replied Matrix. "Peter...get the shift supervisor up here and have her monitor the vessel's transmissions. I want to know if anything changes." ordered Matrix. "Will do Chief." replied Peter Cohen. Matrix turned his attention to the diagnostic routine he and Lt. Cohen had been working on for the past three days. His grandparents raised him as his parents were scientists (as were his grandparents) but they had spent most of his childhood deployed with Starfleet. His grandfather spent hours underwater doing marine research, those days meant that Harvey spent hours working with him. In his chosen field the experiments generally took many hours to complete but had as a result long shifts of research, generally underwater and often on self contained breathing apparatus or in small submersible vehicles. In either case it meant hours of sleeplessness. Harvey had developed along with a freakish ability to hold his breath an incurable fixation on projects; he simply could not sleep when he was working a project that needed his attention. Thus incapacitated, he entered his quarters facing over twenty years of habitual work ethic. He shook his head and dropped his uniform near the entry to the hygiene facility in his quarters. He entered in an effort to relax some. The past few days seemed like a typhoon of heavy thinking. As he allowed the water shower to run over him, cool water that he slobbered into his mouth as it ran over his eyes and face, a working theory was forming in the back of his mind. He kept asking himself for what reason would a rogue general want sophisticated oceanographic, atmospheric, and anthropologic data. The colonization theory actually held merit. But that was not right, it was missing something. The general had stood in opposition to the Federation’s acceptance of Color II as a recognized member. He had risen to high status and obviously influenced others to follow him. Was the general giving up and moving on, perhaps to begin anew? Too simple, and too against his hostile nature, more likely he planned to exact revenge on the sympathizing Colorians or perhaps he was going to strike at the heart of the Federation itself, Earth. Either would be within is modus operandi. But which was most likely and was there a third option that could possibly be playing at the edge of all this disjointed data. Additional facts were what was needed in order for Harvey to continue his thought processes and move forward. That and SCUBA gear. He always thought better on or in the water. The shower was helping but it was not exactly what he was after. He sat down and allowed the water to continue to run. He held his breath for longer durations settling his heart and clearing his mind as he breathed. The facts as he understood them: Color applied for Federation Membership and was chosen. General Deed a top trusted military leader had betrayed his people and with a following of willing or unwilling subordinates had overseen development of a bio-weapon using an ancient Klingon Biological weapon designed specifically to be used against humans. That weapon had been further deployed against the Colorians and the Federation representatives, The USS Boudicca. That effort had been thwarted but not until the General had escaped. The Federation was not intended to know what the general was about; he had taken great precautions sacrificing men, equipment and large samples of the bio-weapon to escape, including a production and testing facility. He was on the run or at least fleeing Colorian Space, but to where? The water from the soaking was beginning to wrinkle his skin at the edges but he was not worried, it felt great to cleanse and relax in this manner. Not home in Port Elizabeth in the warm summer sun on the south beach but comforting nonetheless. Solutions: None yet but things to link with the assistance of others, he needed a second brain or three. Thing one, the scientific data had been specific, was it Color II, Earth, or some other identifiable planet a comparative analysis would have to be run. Thing two, the strain of Teravere had been specifically designed on Color II but did it contain mutations specific for Colorians or some other race. It affected humans and Colorians but not Trills. He made a mental note to check with medical and see if any other races on board the ship might have immunity or specific reactions, it could narrow the list of potential targets for the general’s eventual attack strategies if that were his plan. He would need to coordinate with a medical officer and compare the samples with the various races found onboard and other known Federation Species for possible matches and probable ones. Thing Three, could the general be trying to terrorize the Colorians into stepping away from the Federation, it would not be the first time. Sleep would never come. It was time to get back to work. He needed to get into a science department computer and begin to place these thoughts on a screen together and begin chasing the obvious connections. He turned off the water, dried himself and redressed fresh. He looked sharp. He was still getting used to the blue science uniform he had trained security and had wanted to take the Marine indoctrination program but the Fleet had assigned him science, he would need to get with personnel about completing his Masters…he lacked only twelve credit hours, it would be a waste not to finish. He needed to meet up with Ensign Romanoff his superior and start talking out loud on some of these postulations. Time was constant, that was what science stated anyway. It had sped mysteriously forward during the shower concentrations but had been productive. After violently rubbing his face for a second, he spoke "This looks like a ploy I've used in the past to lour suckers, I mean unsuspecting ships in close. I suggest that we rotate the ship 180 degrees so the target is 'upside-down' from our current orientation, engage the cloak, and deploy the decoy. We then make a circle around the target to scan for other ships, while we have the decoy cautiously approach on an intercept course. That way we turn the trap around on them if they open fire on the decoy." (Reply Salid, and any who wish) During the Civil War, before he defected and going by the name Temerarious, Raschen had used this trap to destroy 52nd Fleet ships. He would have his ship appear to have electrical problems and randomly power things up, put some on stand by and others shut back down. As a target got close, he would restart weapons and shields so it looked like he was having issues and his comms were down. As the target got well within range, Raschen would give the order to attack. Less than half the ships Raschen suckered escaped to report. Three of the ships that escaped his grasp were the Dennison, Nimitz, and Hades. The ironic thing was Chance was serving on the Dennison as a sleeper agent when he and his confederates decided to defect. The ex-Privateer looked around the bridge at all the faces of those that heard his suggestion. ~In any case, I hope they are glad I am with them and not against them.~ (posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1- 0621) "Let's hear it." There were many who wondered how he made it out of the Academy and why he was even interested in Starfleet. The truth was he was a genius and it had already been tested many time since joining the Boudicca. All he needed to work on was punctuality, a trait that was very difficult for him in his young age. Raschen did have a flare for theatrics on occasion, and this was one of these occasions. As he worked, he explained what he was doing. “Just in case there ARE other eyes watching us, I am going to reduce speed just enough so when I simultaneously engage the SEDIS directly in front of us, and the HISS it should create the illusion that we had not changed speed at all.” Once the SEDIS and the HISS were engaged and stabilized, Chance began maneuvering the Rosenante away from the decoy. “I am programming the decoy to maintain 5000 kilometers off our port quarter. That way if the target does fire on the decoy, we can attack them from behind with little risk.” Raschen then plotted a course for the SEDIS to approach the target while at the same time have the Rosenante go around undetected. ~I hope this idea doesn’t bite me in the butt~ (posted by Charlie Raschen) (USS Rosenante - Bridge - ATAC Ensign (sg) Jessica Signos - Day 1 - 0630) Jessica was already awake when the call for critical senior stall to report to the bridge. Entering the bridge she relieved the man behind the tac/ops console and she slide into place interfacing with the system, bringing up weapon systems online. She monitored what seemed to be unfolding before and with everything that had happened of late. Jessica understood the Captains cautiousness. But there was something about this area of space that did not set well with Jessica. That and the fact that Lily was strangely quite, this gave Jessica the sense that something was going to happen and sooner rather than later. The time she got for shore leave was a mixed blessing. Everyone on the ship had gone there own way spent time with people, made new friends with the locals but with Jessica now aware of Lily and her past she found it hard to be around people and making new friends all the harder. There was more than once in the past few days the thought had passed her mind that maybe she would be better off back with Section 31. At least then she wouldn't have to hide what she was. ~How much more do I need to prove myself before people on this ship trust me.~ was a common thought in her head now days. She was alone trapped in a gilded cage, the crew of the rose was friendly enough but what would they think of her when the secret came out. From Lily, Jessica knew that secrets somehow always leaked and the truth sooner or later would be known. Jessica kept Lily close the only person that could relate to her internal suffering. The bridge crew was discussing what to do about the ship that was detected, and while they were doing so, he took over the security station. He could see Ben looking at him, but Sanok didn't say anything. Sanok had experienced a restless night. He didn't know why; he hadn't eaten anything that disagreed with him, and he wasn't ill. Nonetheless, he did not sleep well. He had risen early to meditate, figuring that would settle him. Spending more time than he usually did each morning, he was able to readjust himself. When the call came to report to the bridge, he closed his meditation and blew out the candle. As he stood, however, a very quick feeling of vertigo washed over him, so that he had to steady himself on a table. After a deep cleansing breath, he was fine again. (posted by Bob Array) (USS Boudicca - Bridge - First Officer Lieutenant Henry Jacobs - 0700) Days had passed and the Boudicca had yet to find the ship that attacked it and ran. Henry had been stressed with this point to the extent of sleeping less hours and taking less time off from his duties. He found himself distancing himself from the crew, at least those he was not working directly with on the bridge. On this day Henry sat on the bridge in his chair reviewing sensor readings from the day before. It was just before the main shift and Captain Capps had yet to arrive so for the time being Henry was on watch as the Boudicca continued on its course. Ensigns Romanoff and Trei had spent the week working together in an attempt to predict the course of the unidentified ship. After the ship was not located at the asteroid field the two of them worked non-stop to come up with a mapped course of their target. This morning the ship was investigating a warp trail that had too many matching elements to not be from the elusive ship they were following. The conn officer turned around in her chair and alerted Henry to the readings on her screen. Long range sensors picked up a focal point int the warp trail. It peaked at the site alongside a ship of federation design. There was no damage to the ship or signs of a battle. This had peaked Henry's interested. "Can we hail them, let's see if they have seen our mystery ship!" Henry asked expecting to hear good news. "Sir, we are not getting a response from the ship, they are receiving just not replying." The turbo lift swooshed open and caught the attention of Jacobs as the captain and other members relieved the Gamma shift from their duties. Henry watched as the captain made his way to his chair, followed by others handing him various reports and projections. (Reply Capps) "We have been following a faint warp signature that matched that of the ship we are looking for. It seems to have come in contact with another ship. There's no signs of fowl play but we cannot communicate with the ship to verify. If we increase to warp six we would rendezvous with the ship in two hours." (Reply Capps) "Very well sir, helm, increase to warp six" The conn officer input the course and the ship engaged to warp to meet up with the other ship. Henry walked back to his seat and began to discuss the day ahead with his captain. There was a padd in Jacobs hand with a transfer notification. The ship had received another crew member over night and he was due to report in promptly at 0800 hours. It was true, for the past week the Boudicca was aggressively looking for the ship known to them as the Aquarii. They had found a warp trail and was now on the heel of that trail it seemed. "Very well, increase to warp six and proceed with caution." "Very well sir, helm, increase to warp six," Jacobs ordered. Joel inspected every single thread that made up the man's uniform. This Marine was only the first of 48 Marines Major Kilowa would need to inspect. The Beta Platoon stood in 4 rows, 12 Marines per row and they were undergoing an inspection for their less than perfect performance weeks ago at Color II. One part of their consequence was having 3 random inspections per week for one month. This inspection would make the Platoon's last, unless of course, the Major wasn't happy with the men's appearance. Joel moved from the first person to the next and would repeat until he finished with all 12 men in the row. He would then move up to the next row and continue his inspection. With each stop he would stand in front of the Marine and first look into the person's eyes. After that the Major moved to their hair to ensure it was under regulation. He would then move down from there. The correct placement of their rank rather it be on their neck (for officers) or arm sleeves (for enlisted), the correct insignia in their various positions, the Marines belt, pants, and finally freshly shined boots. After the last Marine was inspected the Major moved back to the front of the Platoon and faced the Marines. "Parade Rest," Joel bellowed. The Marines moved into the called stance. "I trust that each of you will not forget your failure at Color II, and I trust that each of you will not forget your consequence for your failure, and I especially trust that you will NOT do so again. Oorah!" "Oorah," the collected Platoon yelled. Major Kilowa allowed silence to sank in before he continued. "You all still owe me 5 miles, get out of here." At the end of his words each squad's leader starting at the first row gave commands to their squads to fall out. They would make their way to the corridor and run in a single line until they reached their 5 mile mark. He was not excited nor nervous nor anxious nor scared about being assigned to a ship, being exposed to a brand new crew and a Captain who to most would seem like a God. It was all just first day's nervousness, nothing more. He was confident enough in his abilities to be a supportive member of the crew, though he knew full well that all he had to do was make a decision and stand behind it. It wasn't that difficult to him to make a decision, even though one decision almost cost his old squad their lives, including Sgt. Marakor at the time. Some looked at the colossal Klingon and some noticed the point of a Vulcan ear through his hair. Marakor didn't mind at all that his ears were Vulcan thanks to his Mother, nor the fact that he has the Klingon upbringing, thanks to his father. As the turbolift proceeded to the Bridge, he thought about the previous evening. He found his quarters, got unpacked and did not bother talking to a lot of people. In a sense, Marakor didn't trust anybody, nor did he want to get close to anybody. There are only a handful of people who Marakor would trust to call them a "friend," since he lost all but 7 during the wars he fought. All of them retired and are now living peaceful lives on various planets, at least before the Civil War started. Marakor avoided all of that, though the memories of watching an 18 year old private who's first combat with the Borg was also his last hardened Marakor's social life from somwhat to none at all if he could help it. ~Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice; take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement.~ Walking onto the bridge with Polonius' advice in mind, he stood in a more or less neutral spot until he saw a particular officer on the Bridge, wearing the rank of a Captain and wearing the colors of Command. No matter, Marakor approached the Captain anyways and after waiting patiently for the Captain to acknowledge his existence, Marakor spoke in a tone like any other Klingon. Today was the last day of his scheduled tests, and perhaps he would finally be able to return to duty instead of being on no duty, as he had been since the incident. Still, the experience hadn't been all bad for him. he had been able to get in a lot of gym time, strengthening the ripped muscles and rebuilding his upper body strength to his pre-injury condition. In fact, if he had to guess, he'd have to say that he was in even better shape than he had been prior to his injury. Of course there had been some unexpected hormonal side effects that the Teravere, even in it's completely unaffected state had triggered. His muscle mass had increased, as had his energy levels, stamina and endurance; all positive aspects. But the negative ones were more insidious: restlessness, minor insomnia, nightmares of transforming into a violent flesh-eating monster, to name a few. He'd also noticed that his aggression levels were higher than usual and that some of his normal laid-back demeanor had been replaced by a slightly more gruff aspect of his personality. Of course he blamed all these changes on the hormonal shift, a natural result of the Teravere viral infection that he had successfully managed to defeat. "Good morning", he greeted the nurse, aware that his drives were in high gear this morning, "I'm here to see the doctor." "Of course lieutenant," Have a seat, I'll see who's available to see you." Tian open the tricorder and started to run a scan on Lt Rinn. “how you been feeling?” Noble asked (reply Rinn) “you know this is the first time I've had a chance to see the trill immune system at work, you have a very amazing immune system.” Tian knew this was probably only interesting to him, but that didn't change the truth to the statement. Tian closed the tricorder "Right so i'm sure your ready for me to tell you that you can go back to full duity." (reply Rinn) Tian laughed before he could stop himself "right of corse, well its not going to happen." he paused and watched Rinn reaction, "but I'll let you go back on light duity with a few retractions and one promise." He was hopeful that he would be able to go back to duty, although he had to admit that the down time hadn't really been so bad after everything that he had been dealing with since the infection and treatments. He spotted Doctor Noble heading his way and Deynyk couldn't help but suppress a smirk as the junior doctor in the department grumbled about a quiet night and busy morning. "How you been feeling?" Noble asked him. "Well enough." Dey replied, "had plenty of energy and have been able to get myself back into a semblance of physical health. Still having nightmares, but they don't seem to be as frequent as they were before." "You know, " Tian replied, "this is the first time I've had a chance to see the trill immune system at work, you have a very amazing immune system. " Deynyk nodded. "Right so I'm sure your ready for me to tell you that you can go back to full duty?" The doctor continued. "That would be my preference, yes." Dey replied, "To be honest I've been anxious to get back to work." Noble laughed, although Deynyk couldn't really figure out what it was that he had said that was so obviously funny. "right, of course, well it's not going to happen." Dey sighed, he had been hoping that he would be released back to duty sooner rather than later. "How long?" he asked simply. "But I'll let you go back on light duty with a few retractions and one promise." Noble added. "Seems reasonable." Dey replied, thankful even for the opportunity to go on light duty. "Great now promise if anything happens anything at all you'll contact me no matter when it happens." Tian said. "Agreed. and the other aspects of the release?" Dey inquired. "Now I also want you to go see Dr Caspian about these bad dreams. The Boudicca was about half an hour out from the ship that was detected on sensors. In Henry's mind they were even farther from the ship that attacked him. The work was occupying his time and it didn't bother him at all. "Mr. Anderson," Jacobs called out to the assistant tactical chief, "the chief is currently busy on assignment. I need you to work on something for me." (Reply Anderson) Henry had not seen the ensign in his element and saw the perfect opportunity to test his abilities. "initial scans suggest that the ship we are to rendezvous with is unmanned. How do you think we should proceed once we get there?" (Reply Anderson) "If we should need an away team who do you think should go over?" (Reply Anderson) "Compile this in a report. I want it on a padd before we get to that ship. (Reply Anderson) Henry scratched at his beard as he walked back to his chair. The rash he had noticed the week before had resurfaced and the more he scratched at it the worse off it became. This was as good a time as any to finally have it checked out by a doctor. He had not had a great experience the last time he tried to have it examined but he hoped that he would be dealing with someone else this time. He excused himself from the bridge and took the turbolift down to head towards Sickbay. Most were the typically dry reports one expected. Jackson had read through about fifty or sixty of these reports ,which took him about two hours, when something caught his eye. It seems there was a report of a missing federation vessel. "Sir it it seems sector command had reported a missing federation freighter. It is named the Lalo" Tom paused to allow his superiors to ask questions. (Reply: Any on bridge) Jackson continued his report " sector command reports that while re-provisoning it was seized by a group identified as local separatists" . Tom remembered Chance's comment of a couple oh hours ago about a trap. "Sir,I recommend we scan for a cloaked vessel as a precaution " Tom suggested. (Reply: Any) Tom Jackson let out a low whistle. "Hey Gang- looks like we've got company" Tom added. (Reply: Bridge staff) At the far range of the sensor scan a ship with a federation fleet signature was growing in size on the view screen. Jackson continued his report "sector command reports that while re-provisoning it was seized by a group identified as local separatists. (reply Sanok) Turning back to Jackson, Ahmed continued, "Do we have any information on any cargo that the Lalo was carrying?" In response, Jackson let out a low whistle. "Hey Gang- looks like we've got company" Tom added. NRPG: At this point I do not know whether the Rosenante is cloaked yet or not. That will depend upon Milo's response for Soma. If he agrees to the plan proposed by Raschen, then we will be cloaked, if not, we will not be cloaked. Ahmed turned and glanced back at the main view screen. "On screen." He hadn't stopped to consider that the detection could be at extreme long range. "Magnify." he ordered. A moment later the small blob of color increased in size and took on shape. The vessel looked very much like a Keltoi Class starship, but Ahmed was unable to identify her visually. Tom rose from his seat and literally shouted "It's the Boudicca !!" Ahmed had his own experiences with the Boudicca, he had been the first officer on the Champlain during the battle of the mars defense Perimeter, and his ship had been lost in the battle protecting the Boudicca, so that she could carry out her assault on Valhalla station. Then later as Captain, he had been assigned to command a small two-ship task force to investigate Borg activity in the Dovek system. It had been a tough fight, but amazingly, against all odds, both ships had pulled through. He had even held temporary command of that ship when Captain Durand had resigned his commission. It had been his pleasure to present Captain Capps with the command of the Boudicca. "Open a Channel" (reply Jackson) The image of the Boudicca was replaced by an image of her bridge. He stood in the turbo lift pondering the back and forth that he had with Ensign Star in Sickbay. There was no doubt about how feisty a character she was, but at least she was being respectful this time. She helped him with the rash that was forming and ordered him to return to sickbay daily. He had a feeling there was more to it than medical procedure but he would not speak of it at the moment. The doors of the turbo lift opened and Henry walked out to see that the view screen was activated and that Captain Capps was talking to someone. Henry took the long way to his seat walking behind the tactical stations and then around to his chair. As he sat down he got a better view of who the captain was talking to. The images on screen were that of a Federation ship's bridge and it was one that Henry recognized. Captain Salid was on the other side of the communication and someone that he did not recognized was sitting in the first officer's chair. He could also see Tom Jackson, the last FO of the Boudicca. He had no idea why Tom actually left the Boudicca, and in such a hurry at that. The Boudicca had a run of alternating command staff but ever since Captain Capps joined the ship that practice had stopped. He saw Tom just barely in the image and was now eager to see what the Rosenante was doing in the same sector as them. Henry sat while the two captains conversed. Time was passing and Henry noticed that they were well with range of the derelict ship. There was no time to waste. If this ship had any information on the ship that attacked them or the mystery General from Color II then it needed to be found immediately. Henry stood up from his chair and walked around to the tactical console. "Mr. Anderson I need that report now, before we rendevous with the ship." Otherwise the General would personally see it as dis-respect and no one knew what Deen's anger would result after that. "We are beginning to lose main power due to the amount of power being used around the chemicals" General M'locha didn't respond right away. He took his time to ponder on the report just as he always did. He considered himself a highly strategic leader and he would never make a move without first fully thinking it through. It was how he successfully waged two planet wars, one para-civil war on his own planet and more recently how he escaped Color II and tricked the USS Boudicca. The chemicals the Aquarii held was now being transported to its next location, but in order to keep the ship and his crew protected the General had decided to extensively put protections around the storage bay. It was now hindering the refited Colorian Light Cruiser. The ship was not designed to carry large amounts of medical or scientific hazardous materials. No it was more designed to be a small, fast, and very maneuverable light attack ship during the last planetary war which was nearly a decade ago. Its engines and small design still made it those things, but compared to the Federation ships it was just small, but hard to shoot. Finally after what seemed like minutes to the engineer waiting for the answer Deen gave his next order. "Reduce speed to warp 5," the General said aggravated. He wished to stay on schedule and this set back would slow them down considerably. "And eliminate replicator power to only the mess hall and engineering." The padd with the away team roster rested in his right. Without making the captain seem predictable he waited for him to issue his orders. "Prepare an away team to investigate the Lalo. During those last six years, he had moved to the Maquis, the Ba'ku, P'Jem, Andoria, and back to the Federation. But it was a vain dream. Since he rejoined Starfleet two years ago, he was now being assigned to his third ship. This time, as an assistant chief engineer of the USS Rosenante. The promotion was nice, but the feelings were mitigated. For once, he was starting to get familiar with the USS Cherokee. For once, there was a place he was starting to call home....but all that was behind now. Starfleet needed him elsewhere and the USS Cherokee was now another name on the list of places Tho'var had been visiting. "See Fhi'tos... we are almost arrived" started to say Tho'var to his [human] dog. "But I don't see the USS Rosenante anywhere.....do you?" Fhi'tos was sitting in its belly, looking at him. Looking back at the information admiral Jopek's aide gave him, he checked with the runabout sensor. He was at the good location. But the Admiral's aide was clear that the USS Rosenante could be around that location... Tho'var made another long-range scan. A ship appeared on the sensor. It was a freighter. No sign of the USS Rosenante...but that freighter was maybe related to the reason of the USS Rosenante being in the area. It was worthwhile to see what was there. Making the navigation adjustment, the runabout left warp not far from the freighter. ... The freighter was just in front of him. It was a very long and thin ship, looking more like a missile than a ship. ~That must be a hell of a ship to maneuver ~ thought Tho'var. The Admiral's aide only said to report to the USS Rosenante....so Tho'var had little information about its actual mission...and the freighter was not mentioned either. "Do you trust that ship Fhi'tos?" Tho'var could felt the anxiety of his dog grow stronger...What was amazing about those human dogs were their capacity to feel other's person feeling, almost like if they were sympathetic. He closed his eyes and tried to feel the people around. There seemed to be a lot of people out there.. more than a hundred..but he was still blind about what they were thinking or feeling. He was still too far. "A short-range scan of the freighter might be a good idea, don't you think?" The result of the test was however odd. The ship seemed abandoned. The sensor revealed no life sign, but he could felt telepathically they were there. ~Was it a trap? ~ he wondered. Another ship appeared on sensor....but it was not the USS Rosenante.....it was the USS Boudicca. ~ Oh nice! They send me to the wrong ship! ~ Looking more carefully at the sensors, he realized that there was in fact a third ship. However, the signal was rather weak and strange. Tho'var changed the runabout heading so that he could look at that third ship with his own eyes. With his blurred vision, there wasn't much to see, but his telepathy seemed to confirm there was a third ship. He adjusted the sensors reading to disregard some of the false reading...and at last, the USS Rosenante transponder appeared. There it was! Tho'var was about to open a communication with the ship, but considering the presence of that freighter, he wasn't perfectly sure what he needed to do. As both ships certainly had him on their sensors, they would certainly contact him if they had not something more urgent to take care of. Until then, Tho'var programmed a new heading to get closer to the two ships, while at the same time, he was scanning and trying to analyze telepathically what was on that freighter. It might be useful, Tho'var thought. When Jackson finished speaking, "Can you pull up a copy of the original specks and blueprints for the Lalo and compare those with what we have on the sensors?" If you're willing to take me as part of your team, I'll go. In either case, we need to let the FO and skipper know about the differences between how she started and what she may have been made into." Raschen finished as he looked at the difference in the doors down both sides of the monster floating outside. What the ex-Privateer had noticed was some of the large cargo bay doors had been converted into smaller doors on multiple levels while some of the other doors had been made larger. it reminded him of the Dracul when he had a planning meeting years before in another time in another conflict. Picking up the plates, she launched them, one after the other at the wall and watched them smash into tiny pieces. Sinking to the floor, she screamed in frustration and hit the floor. She stayed like that for a long while until her thoughts became her own again. Looking up, she saw the face of her husband, standing by her and said, “We need her back. Alex, we need our girl back. She’s the purest strain. We need her.” "That we do" he answered seemingly unaffected by the fact that the main person they needed to proceed was no longer with them. "Keep in mind dear that nothing that has happened is out of the realm of what we could of suspected to happen. The fact of the matter is Lily nor Jessica will last forever. We need a replacement carrier for the Signos strand that's why we let her join starfleet." “I know. It’s just, she was the first one that succeeded and will always be that. It is imperative that things move has we plan and with out interference of outside forces. The fact that She exposed the cell on Geneva has helped us here. It's given the federation someplace else to look, keeping our actions secret. Alexander finished before walking to the far side of the room. "Besides Salid will deliver her to us, he wont have a choice." Standing, Katherine followed him and said, “That is true. Poor man will bring us our prize and he won’t even realise he’s doing it.” "Yes plans are already in place to allow for such." Alexander spoke looking out the large window and out into the stars. Putting her arm in his, she smiled and said, “The research is coming along. We do have the original strain still in storage but it would be so much better with a live source.” "And you will get it. How much longer till we can launch a planetary scale of the main weaponized strain?" He asked matter-of-factly. She smiled and replied, “If we have to use the strain that we have in storage, i’d say about three to four days. It takes time for the proper tests to be completed. That and....” "What" Alexander looked into his wife's eyes a practiced look of calm evident about his features. Sighing, she looked away from him and said, “The weapons expert you brought in doesn’t like me and is dragging his heels. He was supposed to bring me the up to date specs for the weapon yesterday but he’s been avoiding me.” What could pass for a smile graced his face. "Do not fret my dear you will have those reports as soon has I pay our weapon expert a visit and.... " He paused for a brief moment. "make sure were all on the same page. Now I must be going to get this straightened out and deal with running the station. You need to get that weapon online before our daughter gets back." ”And i will. He expected some logs opened by now and anticipated the information to be useful. "The ships logs should be available by now. What do you have to report? Do they give any answers of why the Lalo is abandoned here? Whatever you have, show them to me." He stood over ENS Star with an irritated demeanor that he hoped motivated her to respond like a Starfleet Officer. ~You don't want to go down this road Star. A Klingon can snap at the drop of a hat.~ (posted by Edward Engel) (SS Lalo - Bridge - ENS(jg) Harvey Armstrong Sciences - 0937) The Lalo was not what it should have been,. A simple cargo vessel. In fact she seemed to be some form of planetary assault vehicle, the question was, and it had not been answered, was it finished with its mission or just starting or about to begin. The logs onboard were fragmented, encrypted and in a strange language the universal translator was having difficulty with. All of that said, it was obviously connected to General Deed. His encryption patterns were all over everything. Harvey thought a moment, could Deed be trying to wipe out a planet, thus the Teravere, and then repopulate it with an invasion force? Or had the General been planning an invasion of his own home-world, or staging one through some secondary power? None of those answers could lead to anything good, and Deed was not on board this ship. That fact led Harvey to believe that this ship belonged to a hired or indebted third party who were going to repopulate or invade. There was a very large number of files heavily encrypted that involved biology, but not Teravere. Harvey thought it might be information on cloning technology or some form of genetic manipulation. He turned to Trei and Star to report his findings. ~Facts man Facts~ he prodded himself. “Lieutenant, Doctor, it looks as if the Lalo is a transport vessel for a large contingent of personnel and equipment. This was not its initial design. The files seem to indicate that this vessel has been altered and repurposed for a new deadly function. From what I have been able to decipher, this vessel intends to deliver an army of people to invade a planet or to repopulate one. There may be some form of genetic manipulation of those soldiers or they may be clones, my understanding of gene manipulation in humanoids is extremely limited. Perhaps given additional time we can ascertain what has happened but General Deed’s DNA is all over this one.” Harvey stated to the two officers. “I suggest we warn the others that there could easily be armed soldiers onboard, perhaps super-soldiers or cloned ones.” (posted by Andy Collette) (USS Rosenante - Bridge - FO Lt. Cmdr Ben Soma - 0939) Ben was sitting in his chair on the bridge, Salid had left him in command while he went to speak with Captain Capps. The away team was heading to the freighter to see what mysteries it held. He wasn't used to not being a part of the action, he had always been one of the officers heading out. He guessed it was something he would eventually have to get used to, one day he would have his own command and then he would be staying behind on the ship while he sent others into potentially dangerous situations. His console beeped an incoming message. =^= Matrix to Soma. One of my engineers has been successful in isolating the federation ship's warp signature. We've identified it as the Lalo. It appears to be a civilian vessile. I haven't cross checked it with Federation records so I'll leave that to you. =^= said Matrix. "Thank you Mr. Matrix." Ben replied. "I'll run a search through federation records to see what I can find." =^= Understood. Matrix out. =^= replied Matrix. Ben then began searching through federation records to see what he could learn about the Lalo. (posted by Milo Young) (SS Lalo - Bridge - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 0940) He heard the report from Armstrong and was disturbed by the findings. The notion of cloned super soldiers aboard the ship they were currently on was disturbing enough compacted with the fact that the ship might be a planetary weapon the likes of the one he dealt with before "the planet killer." was more than he wanted to think about. He agreed with the suggestion from Armstrong and tapped his COMM. ^= Trei to team. Yellow alert. The ship may have super soldiers and may be a planetary weapon intended for an undetermined planet at this time. Be on extreme caution. Trei out. ^= He ordered Armstrong to send the files to the Boudicca so they could make sense of them. Then he told Armstrong and Star to follow him and start searching the north end of the ship. Maybe they would find some answers there. (posted by Edward Engel) (SS Lalo - Bridge - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 0942) He heard Jacobs over the COMM telling him the Rosenante team will be beaming over shortly and had some kind of layout map of the ship with them. He definitely wished to view that map for it may answer some questions that the Lalo files touched on. He stopped at the Bridge door and waited for the team to be ready to move. While he waited for that, he had a moment to reflect on the device known as "The Planet Eater." It was not an experience he wished have again. It was like looking into the mouth of hell . At times he thought he was in hell but he discovered that it was a machine. A machine with an appetite that could never be quenched until it consumed a shuttle full of explosives and is floating around in space he didn't want to know where. The machine is dead and that is all he needed to know. A few good men were lost because of the disastrous device. He even performed the Klingon Death Cry for both of them at later times. The first he did inside the device. The second he did for closure purposes at QV for Ariana the wife of a top Engineering officer at the time. The second time was more personal and relieving because of the great friendship he had with Ariana and Mathew. Bringing himself back to the present, he was ready to proceed. Tom realized tgat each officer had to have that first mission. He and the captain had had theirs together under Captain Sash back in the old Nimitz. Jackson began his mission briefing. " We have been ordered by the captain and first officer to beam over and assist the team from the Boudicca. As you have noticed, the Lalo is massive ". Tom paused to allow for questions from his friends. (Reply: any on team ) Tom turned his attention to Dr. Casey and told the medical expert what he expected. "Doctor here what I want from you. First, you will verify each compartment is free from contaminants before the rest of us enter. And to provide medical care should either team need it. Nothing against your skills bur I hope we won't need them" Tom added. Dr Casey looked distinctly uncomfortable with his assigned duties. How many not talk to the doctor after everyone left. " Commander Matrix I put you in charge of checking the systems of the Lalo. See if you can find any clue as to what the heck it was up to. Most importantly I would like you to assist security with detecting and neutralizing any bobby traps. Any questions or thoughts Steve?" Tom asked his old friend. (Reply: Matrix) And finally turning to another old and dear friend Tom asked Chance to keep his eyes and ears alert. He trusted Chance and Steve Matrix enough to place the lives of his family in their hands. Tom smiled and added "unless their are further questions get your gear and I will see you in Transporter room 1 in ten minutes. Dr. Casey please stay behind a moment after the others leave". (Reply: any on team) The crew slipped out leaving Tom and the doctor alone. Jackson was only a few years older than the docror. He remembered how he felt before it Tom smiled at that young doctor. "Marcus I wanted to talk to you before we headed out. Relax and do your job the way you were trained. Dr's Caskie and Fisher speak well of you. Both doctors delivered my twins. I trust their judgement. So I trust you" Tom told the young officer. Marcus felt some better. He rose and gathered his thoughts and headed out. Tom’s first act was to contact Lt Trei and let him know that they were now on board. “Lt. Trei – This Lt Jackson – we are on board the Lalo in Engineering. Your ship is relaying the configuration discrepancy Lt. Raschen has located” Tom paused to allow Trei to respond. (Reply: Trei)) Tom continued “ we will be moving forward section buy section. Have you found any nasty little surprises?” Tom asked his friend. (Reply: Trei)) As Trei responded Tom made mental notes. The others on his team were anxious to get to work, But Jackson wasn’t ready to turn them loose quite yet. In losing Tom said “Lt. Trei – we will meet soon - take your time and be careful – Jackson out” . Tom turned to his friends and issued his orders. “Ok folks here’s the skinny – Mr Signos and Lt Raschen – check for any booby traps – I want you all to return in one piece. Commander Matrix – check over the systems here and see if it is feasible and wise to retire full power.. Steve – see if the Engineering logs have annthing of value. (posted by Bill West) (SS Lalo - Bridge - Security Officer Ensign Rayne Showers - 1019) Rayne had been manning his post at the tactical station of the bridge while the other officers went about their tasks. He could see the science and medical officers pulling logs from the ships database, but for some reason it was taking them longer than the away team lead had wanted. Rayne was not the type of person who enjoyed standing idly by while others did work and contributed to the mission at hand. It was not long before he started initiating scans of the ship and the surrounding area from the tactical station. There were logs of his own that could be pulled from the prior officers manning tactical, but nothing of importance that explained what happened to the people on the ship. The computer recorded that the last time shields and weapons were activated was days before and only in following standard procedures during a training drill. It had been a very long time since the last time the ship had to use it's defenses. Rayne was not especially skilled in using computers but he definitely knew his way around a tactical console. There was no need for him to know anything else as he had always wanted to provide security for the ship that he was on. Ensign Showers watched as he saw the lieutenant in charge grow impatient at the fact that he had not received any updates from the other officers that accompanied them on the way team. Fearing that he should have been doing something to contribute Rayned looked down to his console to find something to report. It had almost been like a synchronized attempt as when his eyes fell on the console an alert started flashing. The bridge seemed to be running on reserve power so there was no accompanying klaxon, but Rayne knew enough to see that it was the internal sensor alert. He tapped the yellow flashing button and watched as several life signs appeared in the engineering section of the Lalo. "Lieutenant Trei. Several life signs just appeared in engineering. It's the Rosenante's away team." (posted by Darryl McDaniel) (SS Lalo - Near Bridge - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 1020) He heard form ENS Showers that the Rosenante away team beamed to Engineering. That was good news to him so both teams could get some answers now. He looked over the schematic that just loaded on his PADD. The layout of the Lalo didn't surprise him much but the possibility of parts of "The Planet Eater assembled in storage was disturbing enough. He tapped his COMM. "Trei here. This just a theory but I believe the Lalo is holding parts of "The Planet Eater." The purpose of this I don't know. If that is the case, we need to find out now. Good luck Mr. Jackson. Trei out." ~This should get them moving.~ (posted by Edward Engel) (SS Lalo - Near Bridge - Ensign Emily Star - 1022) Emily had been pretty quiet since they'd moved over to the Lalo. Nobody was in need of repair and, her opinion hadn't been asked for, so based off that - silence was pretty much the only other option. At least until now. "Planet Eater?" Emily moved up to Trei, "Nothing can eat a planet...can it?" (tag Trei) Emily's curiosity was one thing that managed to overrule the Vulcan logic quietly telling her to be quiet and wait for the answers. She'd gotten into trouble before when not listening to that calm quiet inner voice that spoke so well into her soul. (posted by Lillian Wood) (SS Lalo - Near Bridge - TAC/S LT(JG) Detron Trei - 1023) He was waiting for a report from the Rosenante team when he heard a question asked by ENS Star about "The Planet Eater." She looked like some puppy eager for the answer to her question. He was happy to tell the story. "Well Ms. Star I it essentially did just that. It was a device that destroyed a planet with extreme heat and radiation. It used the heat and radiation to break the planet apart then devour the planet in parts leaving nothing but space dust when it was done. I have never witnessed a planet being destroyed by it but I was on the team to shut it down. I earned the Medal of Valor for that operation. One man lost his life that day and another died eventually because of radiation effects. I believe that the Lalo has parts of the device." He waited for the next question. (posted by Edward Engel) (SS Lalo - Near Bridge - Ensign Emily Star - 1024) "Well as long as it's only part..." Emily said quietly, "I don't think I'd like to be near such an event. The loss of so many lives would be emotionally devastating. I'd have nightmares for ages." Emily paused, her mind momentarily drifting as her imagination took hold of the depressing scenarios. Shaking her head she returned to the present situation, "If they do have such a device on this ship I'm sure they must have it catlogued int he cargo bay. Even more so there must be technicians notes in Engineering." (posted by Lillian Wood) (SS Lalo - Engineering - ATAC Ensign (sg) Jessica Signos - Day 1 - 1025) Jessica beamed into the Lalo with the rest of the away team she spread out clearing the entry to engineering with her phase rifle while she waited orders. They came as her and Rashen were ordered to check for traps and to make sure the coast was clear so they could move on after they finished in engineering. There was something about the Lalo that did not sit well with Jessica. In fact there had been a growing uneasy feeling growing in Jessica ever since they entered this sector of space. Before Jessica could push it back into the farther recess of her mind but that was getting harder. ~ What is it Lily, do you have some ideal of whats going on. ~ Jessica spoke to her alternate persona Jessica could feel Lily's unease it was more pressing than her own, which only made Jessica worry more. She had already come to the understanding that there was not much that lived that could shake the assassin that lived with in her. ~ This class of ship is favored by section 31 for operations. The long halls that lead from engineering to the bridge make her easily defensible once boarded. Extra atmospheric processors near the central environmental node can allow this ship to easily double if not triple it's troop capacity. While the ship might be lacking in weapons and defensive capabilities, that means little Section 31 has been known to arm the many storage bays with mobile weapon platforms and fightercraft making a very formidable opponent. ~ Jessica listened while Lily spoke of Section 31's uses for this class of ship. It was also just as likely that the ship was what it appeared to be a wayward supply ship. She continued to check for traps not finding any in the immediate area she reported back to Jackson that engineering had been secure and no traps were present. Jessica wondered why Lily had been so forthcoming with information as of late. ~ If you have a question for me its better asked, you don't hide your thoughts well from me. ~ Lily's voice cut though Jessica's thought lily sighed then continued. ~ The reason why I've been forthcoming with information is because it doesn't matter anymore. I can't live with out you, our minds have merged beyond that point...~ ~ And as the merger continues I would only learn of it anyway. ~ Jessica finished Lily's thought. To which Lily simply nodded. ~ the question now is what to do with this information...~ Jessica's mind pondered the thought before deciding to keep it to herself. I was becoming more painfully apparent that she was not a trusted member of the crew and information that had been gained from Lily was even more suspect. Trust was and always would be such a fragile thing. (posted by Matthew Locke) (SS Lalo - Near Bridge - ENS(jg) Harvey Armstrong, Sciences - 1026) Harvey listened to the conversation between Star and Trei. He wondered how all of the data would come together in the end. “Lieutenant was the planet that was attacked with the ‘Planet Eater’ habitable immediately after the attack or was it rendered obsolete?” “Perhaps, and I am merely make a supposition here. Perhaps this ship serves as some sort of black market death dealer selling or trading parts to rogue elements who wish to do great harm, Super Soldiers, Planet Eaters, and whatever other cargoes we might find could all be the main line items that the crew of this ship trade in. It is farfetched but not completely implausible.” Harvey suggested, “I will continue to search the files if you like Lieutenant Trei or we can begin the room to room search whichever you prefer sir.” (posted by Andy Collette) (USS Boudicca - Bridge - Councilor Ensign(jg) Elizabeth Caspian, Dr. - 1027) Lizzy had kept tabs on what was going on about the ship, the finding of the Laso and the meeting up with the Rose. She finished up a bit of work at her office than made her way to the bridge after finding someone to babysit her and Mia's Little one. She walked PADD in hand running though a list of baby names for the little girl. Lizzy had to admit she was leaning toward Abigail but she would have to see what Mia would think of the name. It felt good to out and about the Boudicca but she still had work that needed to be done. She wanted to get a feeling for the overall mental well being of the Boudicca and the best place for such was on the bridge. It did not take her long to traverse the distance from her office to the Bridge and when the doors to the bridge slid open it was a bustle of activity. Which wasn't out of the ordinary but there was an apprehension, and tension that was pulling on the crew. She made her way to the center chair to see Henry sitting, holding the captain's place while he was on the rose speaking to captain Salid. "How goes things Lieutenant." She spoke softly, in tones that only she and Jacobs could hear. This was not the conversation the rest of the crew needed to be privy to. (reply Jacobs) She nodded, I think you know why I'm here. "I know your busy but as soon as your able I want you rest and take some R and R." (reply Jacobs) "I know what you've been taking the hunt for the Aquarii personally, I also know that you blame yourself for what happened to the captain, this is not the time for pushing yourself so hard over something you could not control... besides don't you think you'll be more able to focus and miss less once properly rested. She spoke as a friend has well as a counselor. When she spoke next it was louder that the rest of the bridge could hear. "Now sir was there anything else you needed to talk to me about." She smiled and winked at Henry knowing he would appreciate the exit she offered him. After all no one liked being scolded by the 'Ship's Mom.' He also added that the SS Lalo could be a Black market of Death which the wording of that amused him. He turned to Armstrong. "The answer to the first question is the planet was uninhabitable before and after the planet killer did its job. The planet killer left small asteroids here and there but mostly space dust. Harvey fell into the stack further back then he would like but regardless of his security training he was a scientist and had to recognize that he was a specialist of sorts for this mission, there would be times when he would be allowed to lead away teams maybe even firefights and other combat or security oriented functions but for now he was assigned sciences and had to do his job. His scanners were working double time as the team moved along the corridor. Harvey made it his primary responsibility to scan doors and junctions to insure there were no booby traps or opposition forces. As the team approached the first door the sensors were clear, there was nothing detectable at the door. “Lieutenant, looks clear from this side.” Harvey stated as the group stacked by the door. It was one thing for a person to disappear; even a couple of people but this was a spaceship, in space. It’s not like the entire crew could just walk off the ship and swim about unharmed. She was pretty sure the crew of the Boudicca was competent. If there had been escape pods ejected or shuttles deployed, they would have checked. However, what bothered her more than the empty bridge and seemingly empty corridors was the lack of any evidence to suggest there was a problem. If someone had taken over the Lalo – they had done it in a clean and very efficient manner. ~Where are you?~ Emily wasn’t sure if she was looking for the Lalo crew or …someone else. She knew for a fact they weren’t alone on the ship. She could sense them. “Why don’t we just announce our presence with the ships intercoms? This creeping about is highly frustrating.” She mumbled a little louder than necessary. "Sir, I found these boxes and wanted to see you before I opened it". The doctor replied. Tom smiled - the young man wanted to please in the worst way. "A wise precaution Doctor" Tom added. Jackson kneeled and looked at the boxes. He scanned the boxes with his tricorder. Tom repeated the procedure a second time on each box. Tom turned to Casey and added " we are lucky - doesn't appear to be booty trapped" and opened the first box. Tom Jackson was looking at a pair of Romilam disruptor pistols.
