She was so far past late that at this point there would be no point in attending the senior officer's briefing - she could get the salient points from one of the other medical staff, in fact she was pretty sure that Riven was going to the meeting. It was after all, her own fault for not closing her office hours early. Ellie had a sobbing Lieutenant from Security on her couch. It didn't seem to matter what Elani said, the woman did not seem capable of calming herself down and just relaxing to talk about the problem. She should call for one of the medical staff to sedate her, but Ellie had standard medical training and it was just a mild sedative right? So she pressed the hypo to the Lt's arm and sat back, letting the medication work. "Carol, can you tell me what happened to upset you so?" She asked patiently. Now that the hysteria was dying down, Ellie offered her a handkerchief. It was a point of pride for Ellie to have beautiful non-replicated Betazoid silk squares for her patients. It was such a little thing but it seemed to matter to her patients. "He, V`Kil told me he no longer wanted to date me." Carol sniffed into the silk square. This made some sense to Ellie, V`kil was an odd one, part Vulcan and human. He got the vulcan name from his mother, but he inherited his father's emotions. And to be honest, Carol was better off without him. She'd seen the 'training accidents' that had landed Carol in sickbay several times. V`kil was a strong manipulator as well, and he'd twisted Carol around to this mess that was sitting in front of Ellie inconsolable. Of course there was always medication, but that wouldn't fix the source of the problem, the continued dependence that V`kil had engineered over months. That sort of dependence would ruin Carol's Starfleet career. There were of course ways around that. Ellie wasn't a proficient mind healer, but there was one on board and she had been studying with him. While Ellie was distracted by her thoughts on how best to help Carol, her eyes darted to the chronometer, which read 1540. By now the briefing was probably over. So Elani did not see the eyes rolling up in Carol's head. she felt the absence of the woman and turned back to watch in horror as Carol fell off the couch. Ellie smacked her comm badge as she knelt down beside Carol, feeling for a pulse. There wasn't one. "Medical emergency. Site to site transport for two to sickbay, please!" Ellie kept her hand on Carol as the familiar tingle of the transporter took hold. He turned to Angeni and saw as she opened a tin that she produced and saw inside that there was crystalized pieces of honey. ~Ow these look nice~ "It's honey made from bees that pollenated rose, lavender, and mint plants. Tastes awesome." Andrew grinned as he took a peace. “Thank you Angeni.” He took a piece of honey and popped it in his mouth. He felt it slowly melt in his mouth as he noticed that Angeni had paused as she turned to Mias who was sitting next to her. "Ang... Dr. Trommashere...This is a surprise... How have you been doing?" He saw a huge smile spread across her face as she leaned forward. "I believe we are well past formalities, my friend. Imagine my shock and surprise when I was told that there was a certain Betazed that was serving aboard the ship I had been assigned to. I have been doing well...and you have no idea how happy I am to see you." "Surprise." Andrew grinned to himself as swallowed the last of the honey and looked towards T’Vhor waiting for him to start the meeting. Kurt Palmer - 14:42) The CSO made it to the observation lounge after an emergency notification. He rounded the table and opted for the remaining chair next to his fellow department member Lieutenant McKenzie. Kurt nodded politely as not to interrupt a conversation he was having with the security officer on his other side. Kurt sat a PADD on the conference table and directed his attention forward. (Reply, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Observation Room - ACSO, Lieutenant(JG) Kenneth McKenzie - 14:43) "How's it going?"Asked a person who sat down in one of the chairs in front of McKenzie, who was still standing ageinst the wall. McKenzie saw that it was Ensign Frost. McKenzie nodded and took the seat next to him. "Ensign...Frost? Yes, fine, thank you. Are you representing Tactical?" (reply Ensign Frost.) (posted by Gavin Work) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:00) The first thing that the Captain did once everyone had finally arrived for the briefing, was take note of their general mood. Not all of them of course were fully aware of this missions objectives and parameters, not only due to the sensitivity of the situation that was evolving and what was actually at stake now, but also because of the 'need to know' status that had been bandied about the ship ever since leaving SB 19. There were even rumours that Starfleet itself had not 'officially' ordered the Spectre to this locale. By the time they all left the room however, all of this supposition and hypothesis would change and they would all know the facts. The Captain welcomed them all as he took his seat, a cursory glance to Kerge, the ever dependable Klingon security chief who looked as stoic and dependable as ever despite the fact that he WAS one of those that knew the full details. Windsong-Trommashere however looked guarded, perhaps due to the fact that she knew more than most without actually knowing the full facts at all, having been one of the last 'dependable' Starfleet officers to have had direct contact with Admiral Alexander himself before her deployment. Calling the meeting to order, the Captain wasted no further time and immediately began. “Gentlemen, Ladies. Some of you have no doubt heard vague and conflicting reports regarding the recently missing academy training vessel 'Garallon', that it is now en route back to Federation space, that her crew compliment have been verified as safe and that they are all well”, he began, a tone in his voice that suggested anything but. “I tell you now that I do not believe that to be the case at all, and that I have grave concerns for the ship and the welfare of her crew at this point in time”, he added, giving obvious credence to the tone of earlier. For the moment, nobody said a thing, although it was clear from most of their expressions that they had fully realised the ramifications of the Captains opening comments. Suffice to say, he was now implying that Starfleet was actually lying to them in its official report. That the organisation they had come to think of as dependable and solid, was not entirely so at all! That obviously raised a few eyebrows to say the very least. The Captain continued on... “A few days ago, I received a communiqué from a Starfleet Admiral, a man that I trust implicitly, stating that not only had the Garralon been compromised by hostile forces, but that it had become a pawn in a much larger game than anyone might suspect. A disposable pawn one might add”, said the Captain, as he gazed out at the Tsinkada void, clearly visible as it now was directly behind the Spectre and shimmering with a grey, somewhat menacing semi-luminescence. For a brief moment he contemplated it's ethereal beauty, without once departing from the full realisation that this was an area of space that was not exactly the safest place to be of course. Gesturing with his hand though, he drew the senior officers attention towards it. “I believe 'that' is where we will find the Garallon, and hopefully, some of her crew”, said the Captain, appearing thoughtful now as he contemplated the anomaly that the Tellarites somewhat respectfully referred to as 'The Shadows'. Not many had ventured into it and come out unchanged, indeed many did not come out at all, hence the stories that had filtered through to most races that had had cause to pass through Tellarite space. Tales of 'ghosts' were abound here, and of shape shifting aliens that could warp reality and distort the minds of those that dared enter, or who had simply suffered the misfortune to find themselves lost within it through no fault of their own. Logic though still prevailed in the mind of the Spectre's Captain. There were no ghosts here, no Spectre's other than the ship that they had arrived on, and he vowed that they would find the Garallon, or what was left of it, no matter what. “Our mission is thus”, continued the Captain. “Retrieve the Garallon from the void whilst maintaining an illusion of sorts. Certain aspects of this mission must, and will remain classified, for the moment even from Starfleet itself”, he added, knowing full well of course that that might not sit entirely well with some of those gathered in the room. “Do any of you foresee any problems with that?”, he asked, glancing amongst them now. (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - Acouns, Dr. Riven Mias - 15:05) "Surprise." She said with a playful wink. Riven's smiled returned at seeing her happy mood. The Angeni he remembered had been one hundred and eighty degrees from this new incarnation and seeing her lightened mood was a relief for him. It was bittersweet though in a way. Michaella had been the love he had sought but thought he might never find while Angeni had been the case in point of a love that was never meant to be. Not that he had ever stepped over the line of doctor and patient while she had been seeing him, it had been difficult at times but he could never tell her how he felt. Perhaps this was why when he left she could not follow. He sighed, gave her a nod and wink in reply and returned his attention to the gathering number of officers, after the Captain had finally begun the meeting it quickly became apparent that he was not about to tell them all he knew, at least not at first. “Our mission is thus, Retrieve the Garallon from the void whilst maintaining an illusion of sorts. Certain aspects of this mission must, and will remain classified, for the moment even from Starfleet itself." He looked about the room. “Do any of you foresee any problems with that?” "Captain if I may." The Acouns spoke up. "Since it appears from the convoluted information you have already given us that this is a matter of intrigue and possibly even infiltration within the ranks of Starfleet itself I myself see no problem with operating within the constraints you mention however I would recommend you show your hole cards so that everyone can see for themselves what is actually going on here. It is obvious you are still withholding information and if you expect your crew to make an informed decision it is only fair for them to know how deep the rabbit hole extends." (Reply: T'vhor, any) (Posted by Charles) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:06) The first query had come from the Councellor, who had requested that the Captain show 'all' of his cards if he were to expect those assembled there to obey his wishes to the letter. It was a credible request and one which he would answer in time. For the moment though he merely stated that there was no possibility of him witholding any pertinent information from the senior crew, and that all that he was concerned with right now was whether or not any of them might have a problem with witholding certain facts from Starfleet itself! "A good question, Doctor", answered T'Vhor. "It is not my intention to hold anything back from any of you, but the mission requires a certain level of non-disclosure to those 'outside' of this room. Once you are aware of all of the facts then I am quite sure that you will fully understand why I am asking this of you all", he offered. "And yes, you are correct in that it is my belief that a certain level of infiltration 'has' occured within Starfleets ranks that make it imperative that we continue to operate on a need to know basis from this point on", he added. "And suffice to say, you all now need to know what is going on here. Does anyone else have any concerns in regards this before I continue?", said the Captain, offering the floor to any further concerns regarding the non-disclosure aspect of the mission. (Reply Riven, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - ACMO, Ens. A.O. Windsong-Trommashere - 15:06) Angeni smiled softly at Riven and went to say something more when the Captain came in. She caught his eye and her expression remained passive. She found herself mentally preparing herself; she was well aware she was more 'in the loop' than probably anyone else in the room. She listened as he spoke, her PADD turned over to indicate she wasn't taking any notes. It was a lesson she had learned the hard way when her doing a bit of dictation while in a classified meeting led to almost being dismissed from the team. She kept her hands in her lap. “I tell you now that I do not believe that to be the case at all, and that I have grave concerns for the ship and the welfare of her crew at this point in time." Angeni kept her face passive, but she was well aware of the 'public relations' stunt that message was. They were unaware of the specifics of what SF was looking for, but the message to all teams was that vessel was deemed a 'board first, ask questions later' situation. The other contents of the message permitted a 'weapons free' environment which meant no questions would have been asked if they had to take down an aggressive subject. The plot was getting thicker. The minute he mentioned the message and the contents, her mind exploded. So that's what she was the human suitcase for! Why the Admiral sought her out was beyond her. Everyone knew of her troubles with SF and that made her a target for the less savory characters who wanted to blackmail her into giving up secrets. Fortunately, her position of Doctor allowed her to escape most blackmail plots. No one wanted to know that the Captain had gotten the gift that kept on giving from their R and R on Risa. If they ever met him, she wanted to ask him why her...why did he trust the doctor with the piss poor reputation. She opened her mouth to say something, but then she closed it. In a very short time, she had gotten to know the occupants in the room well enough that even something that could be inferred from her conversation was something she wasn't willing to risk. When Riven asked their Captain to show his cards, she nearly shook her head. T'Vor's response was one she almost expected. Something still concerned her, though...she wondered just what her connection was to all of this. She looked down at her hands, ruminating over just what she knew and she tried to make some kind of connection to the Admiral. She bit her bottom lip, deep in thought, the gears turning hard in her head. (Reply Any) (Posted by Kari) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - TAC/ASC Ensign Will Frost - 15:07) Will had listened closely as the Captain had began the briefing. When he weighed the realitly of a compromised crew with the backdrop of the horror stories abound from the area of Space they were in The whole scenario seemed less like reality and more like the plot of a holonovel or film. Something that was straight out of a plot from 20th or 21st century Science fiction. Will was lost in thought when the Doctor's question brought him out of his concern for the secrecy of the mission. He sat up in his chair to hear the doctor's reply. "A good question, Doctor", answered T'Vhor. "It is not my intention to hold anything back from any of you, but the mission requires a certain level of non-disclosure to those 'outside' of this room. "And suffice to say, you all now need to know what is going on here. Does anyone else have any concerns in regards this before I continue?", said the Captain. Speaking up Will replied, "What security measures are we to enact to protect the secrecy of the mission. Are there any chances of any members of the crew being compromised, any chance of continued infiltration?" (Reply any) (Posted by WB) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 15:08) Andrew listened as T’Vhor explained their purpose of being in the Tsinkada void. Things were fitting together not all in the right order but thoughts were not good. ~This does not look good~ When the captain mentioned about this could be the start of something big he thought about when he and T’Vhor had talked about as well as the information he had gotten on the file. ~Well he’s not mentioned anything about Sulia Madon so I guess it’s still classified~ Andrew looked over at Mias as he spoke up and listened to T’Vhor’s reply. ~What I don’t understand if it was Sulia Madon and she wanted infect star fleet, this would be a great opportunity. All those cadets would go back to the academy and to ship board posting. This would spread the infection far and wide as well as Garallon infecting more and more cadets as they were placed on board. So why not just take the Garallon home? Why strand her out here?~ Andrew pulled himself out of his thoughts at Frost’s question. "What security measures are we to enact to protect the secrecy of the mission. Are there any chances of any members of the crew being compromised, any chance of continued infiltration?" (Reply T’Vhor) He would have asked if there was any idea about what could be causing the infiltration but he already had that information so he asked another question he was thinking about. “Captain. Do you know anything about the crew makeup on the Garallon, as in the amount of cadets to instructor ratio and their spread across the departments? Was it a normal crew compliment? If we have to transfer the whole crew over we are going to need time to expand the sickbay capacity in case there are any casualties.” (Reply T’Vhor) (Reply T’Vhor, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor and TAC/SC Lt Kerge - 15:09) As a half Vulcan, it was in the Captains very nature to query almost everything so as such he had expected the questions that he had so far received from those assembled. Riven had requested more transparency, and whilst T'Vhor understood why he might be requesting that, he had wondered why the Counsellor had even thought that he might not tell them everything once he had secured their agreement on his conditions. Windsong-Trommashere had actually looked as though she had wanted to ask something, but then had not done so, leading the CO to simply hypothesise on why that might be. It was hardly surprising though when he really thought about it. An Ensign suddenly approached by an Admiral and given secure 'Eye's Only' data, along with a subsequent order to report directly to one man, and one man only! And then on top of that to be told not to say anything to anyone by the CO himself! It was no wonder her mind was a little confused right now. It was then though that Ensign Frost offered an opinion of his own regarding security and exactly what provisions might be in place for that. "What security measures are we to enact to protect the secrecy of the mission. Are there any chances of any members of the crew being compromised, any chance of continued infiltration?", he had asked. The Captain pondered that just briefly before answering, it would be Kerge's place to organise the relevant provisions of course, and no doubt the Klingon would soon be adding his own input on the matter, but for now anyway the Captain choose to remain relatively succinct. "Standard security protocol will apply in regards all ship procedures that might present information to anyone outside our initial remit here, Mr Frost. And yes, for the moment we must assume the possibility exists that any one of our own crew might be a possible security breach", said the Captain, at which point the Klingon did indeed jump in. "I have already taken steps to monitor any unauthorised outbound transmissions", he said gruffly, "if anyone even attempts to 'phone home' so to speak, my hand will be upon his shoulder before he has the time to say Gagh" (Reply Frost IYW, Any IYW) Major Kowalski, the Marine MXO sat silently to the side rotating a small steel ball in his palm with a careful cyclic manipulation of his fingers. Nobody really knew why he kept that thing upon his person of course, but suffice to say it seemed to help him concentrate. What they could not know right now though was that his concentration was not exclusively upon the proceedings occuring in this room right now, for he now had a dilemma of sorts, his orders prior to leaving Starbase 19 conflicting somewhat with his better judgement. Special orders were invariably sources of possible trouble with regular Starfleet crews and the MXO had come to like this crew. Suffice to say, he found himself hoping that that order would not have to be executed anytime soon. The meeting continued on with Doctor Williams asking specifically about the Garallon itself and her crew... “Captain. Do you know anything about the crew makeup on the Garallon, as in the amount of cadets to instructor ratio and their spread across the departments? Was it a normal crew compliment? If we have to transfer the whole crew over we are going to need time to expand the sickbay capacity in case there are any casualties.” "I understand that the ship was carrying a minimal compliment, Commander. Eight command officers, plus a total of Twenty Four Cadets on a routine run to familiarise them with the day to day running of a starfleet vessel", answered the Captain. "The USS Tempest reports that all crew are well and currently en route to the Sol system, although I do of course believe that to be an untruth", he added. (Reply Williams) (Reply Frost IYW, Williams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 15:12) "I understand that the ship was carrying a minimal compliment, Commander. Eight command officers, plus a total of Twenty Four Cadets on a routine run to familiarise them with the day to day running of a starfleet vessel", Andrew went through the calculations in his mind. They would have to move patient’s intensive care and high dependency as well as shuffle the staff around to accommodate for the extra load. ~Might be a some long shifts~ "The USS Tempest reports that all crew are well and currently en route to the Sol system, although I do of course believe that to be an untruth", he added. Andrew nodded. “Yes Sir. We will be prepared for any medical cases we find on the Garallon.” He continued. “Captain as you mentioned the USS Tempest is giving false reports about the where about of the Garallon is there any one going to the Tempest to investigate why they are sending the false reports?” (Reply T’Vhor) (Reply T’Vhor, any) (Reply Robbie) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:14) The CMO's query was a logical one, given that the Tempest was the last ship to have interacted with, and reported upon the academy training vessel itself. The truth of the matter though was that as far as Starfleet were concerned, Captain Adam's would have no real reason to be witholding pertinent information, and as such, nobody outside of Admiral Alexanders little soiree was even looking at the possibility that all was not precisely as it seemed. The Spectre's mission was covert of course, and to a degree it was all happening behind Starfleet's normal chain of communications, lest they spill the beans and alert the interlopers that they had been rumbled. For now anyway, that was not an option at all. "The last reports from Captain Adams were that the Tempest is en route to Starbase 39 Sierra for debrief of it's last mission", said the Captain. "The Tempest would be due to arrive sometime soon, but with my only reliable link to Admiral Alexander now severed, I must rely on other avenues to get information to the correct recipients, hopefully someone that might be able to get to 39 Sierra before the Tempest leaves again", he added, turning briefly to Windsong-Trommashere and thinking back to their earlier discussion as he did so. "Ensign", he began. "You mentioned that Commander Solandro had trusted you with the information you had delivered to myself, and that the man himself could be trusted implicitely. Did he agree with you any further arrangements to communicate with him at all?" (Reply Windsong-Trommashere, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – ACMO Ens. A.O. The rhythmic rubbing kept her focused and centered, keeping her mind on the task at hand. When she heard Williams talk about preparing sickbay for injured, she just nodded slightly. She had the "magic key" as it was called; the experimental drug the medicos' had come up with after the first biochem attack. The drug was used on her after the raid and it worked exactly the way they had planned. The only side effect they had noticed across the board was joint pain, but that was to be expected from the sudden resurgence of acetylcholine to the muscles. Her ears perked up when she heard Alexander's name and when she looked up, T'Vhor was looking at her. "Ensign. You mentioned that Commander Solandro had trusted you with the information you had delivered to myself, and that the man himself could be trusted implicitely. Did he agree with you any further arrangements to communicate with him at all?" Angeni took a deep breath, then nodded. "Yes, sir." The Captain knew of their relationship, so she continued on, "I promised to let him know I was alive every now and again. I'm actually supposed to make contact with him at some time today." If he has the means to get that message to Admiral Alexander then please ensure that he does so", he added. Angeni nodded. "Yes sir...I will contact him immediately." It would also allow us to see if they are tampering with their computer or not, and how much they have not been telling us. Though I am unsure how forthcoming they would be" (Reply T'Vhor) "Good thinking." Kurt whispered under his breath to the ACSO. (Reply, T'Vhor, McKenzie iyw, any) ((Post by Cody) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:22) "Do we have any information on the Garallon's last known position?", the CSO has asked, a question that did not exactly have a straight forward answer. After all, anything that had been reported by either the Garallon or the Tempest was to be treated with a pinch of salt so to speak, for neither could be ascertained to be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but. The Captain took a deep breath inwards before answering, then he gave the only asnswer that he could, which wouldn't be much help. "As the logs show, we currently ARE at the last logged coordinates of the Garallon, Lieutenant. It is apparently en route to the Sol system as we speak, although as I have said, I do not believe that report to be a truthful account", said the Captain. "Very well." said Palmer as his colleague, McKenzie spoke up. "Sir, I would also like to see if I can get the science reports from the Tempest so we can see what their systems says about the region. It would also allow us to see if they are tampering with their computer or not, and how much they have not been telling us. Though I am unsure how forthcoming they would be" "The reports that we have are no more than what the current Starfleet database shows us", said the Captain, "we must not forget also that there is a high probability that the Tempest logs will have been falsified. Which means, that we are more or less on our own with only scraps of information which may, or may not be correct" (Reply McKenzie IYW) "Our only logical course is to use what we know to be fact in our quest to locate our goal", said the Captain, "everything else is supposition and uncertainty, I see a lot of that in this room right now", he added. "The important thing is that everyone realises the magnitude of what we are dealing with here. It is my belief that the Federation IS under threat and in immediate danger, but we cannot 'tip our hand' so to speak at this moment in time", he said, just as the assistant CEO, Ensign Haltom preempted his immediate superior with a report that Engineering was ready and standing by. The Captain wondered then why Remae had not reported that himself, and also why he had been so quiet and queried that with him. Was the ACEO aware of something that he was not? "Do you have anything to add Lietenant?", he asked. Remae quirked his head and exhaled somewhat wearily. "Engineering is ready", offered the CEO, backing up the Ensign's report. "My only real concern is that this 'void' as you say might present us with some undue gravimetric stress upon our hull if we have to go in, but it's nothing that I don't think we can cope with", he added. "The ship is in tip-top condition, structural integrity and inertial damping is at optimal efficiency and the panel is green across the board" The Captain nodded in response, something though was still not right with the CEO despite his reassurances. His Betazoid half was telling him so and he made careful note to speak to the man later. "According to Tellarite reports, this area is named 'The Shadows' for a reason, this being that it appears to have some form of direct physical and emotional effect upon anyone that enters it", said the Captain, turning then to Williams. "Doctor, perhaps you might be able to come up with a telemetric link for our away team members so that any variation in their physical and mental conditions might be noticed sooner, rather than later?", he asked. (Reply Williams, Kirrien IYW, Any) Moving on the Captain then addressed the entire room. "In the interim I want a viable plan to find this vessel and crew in place within the hour. We will send a class II sensor into the void to gather the relevant data. Lieutenant Palmer and McKenzie, I suggest that you use this data in devising that initial plan" (Reply Palmer, McKenzie, Any) "If nobody has any further concerns, I will bring this meeting to a close", said the Captain. (Reply Any, Williams, Palmer, McKenzie, Kirrien IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - ACEO Ens. Jake Haltom - 15:23) Jake crossed his legs and leaned back in his chair, so far there had been little need for Engineering input into the affair. The meeting had started with a bit of excitement after the CO's initial greeting when the new Betazoid counselor had all but accused him of witholding information if you looked at it that way. However it could also be taken another way if you put more thought into it which was a request to be totally transparent before asking the officers present to swear to a course of action. That was fair to the people present but would also be a logistical nightmare for the Captain if he were simply to tell everything he knew first only to have a few individuals rethink their position. The situation really was something highly irregular and he couldn't imagine what was going through the CO's head. Did T'Vor know more? Undoubtedly and he was giving out every scrap of information he could without shouting out the names of suspected offenders and the exact nature of this 'infestation' he had led everyone into concluding. Or had it been Dr. Williams who had brought up the subject? Truth be told Jake was getting a bit confused by the veiled accusations and double entendres as well as the obvious conclusion that some had access to more information than he and the others. ~What the hell, I work in engineering so I'm treated like a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed _____.~ He grinned at the common technician's complaint before his mind continued through the thread of the meeting. Medical which apprently was one of the recipients of more info was gearing up to fight the infestation and science wanted to know about the section of space they were getting into while Security was gearing up for ...well security. So what could engineering shoehorn its way into the meeting with? ~Hey Captain we're ready to fix whatever problems come up while the Maelstrom is trying to eat the ship, saboteurs are trying to blow it up from within and nasty buggers are attempting to knock it down around our ears.~ ~Sometimes less is more.~ "Captain Engineering stands ready." A.O. Windsong-Trommashere - 15:24) Angeni continued to sit quietly, observing those around her. She glanced around, not moving her head much, but her eyes darted about. She couldn't turn off the medical part of her mind and she was constantly looking for something amiss. Seeing nothing immediate, she felt her padd vibrate under her fingertips. She turned it over, glancing at the message displayed across the screen. She bit her lip as she swiped her finger across the screen to close the message. She would deal with it the minute the meeting was done. Angeni glanced at Williams and she smiled slightly at him. She was given the Holy Hazmaticus to use some of her tactical toys as she saw fit and file it under "Research" if any of the higher ups asked why they were playing with the fun toys. Her teams wore wrist bands that communicated all physiological signs to a medical tablet she carried with her. She took out a pen and a bit of paper, jotting down a note to pull out her bands and catch up with Williams later. Her day had skyrocketted into a busy jumble; she needed to get a hold of Solandro and her Captain would probably want to know the response immediately, she wanted to give Williams the heads up on the bands, and she wanted to catch up with Riven. "In the interim I want a viable plan to find this vessel and crew in place within the hour. We will send a class II sensor into the void to gather the relevant data. Lieutenant Palmer and McKenzie, I suggest that you use this data in devising that initial plan. If nobody has any further concerns, I will bring this meeting to a close." Andrew looked over at T’Vhor as the question was directed to him. “Yes Sir we will look into it and get back to you.” (Reply Kirrien IYW, Any) He saw Angeni give him a glance and a smile which he returned. His mind began to run through the possibilities. The most obvious one was a neurological monitor that fitted on the neck and continues recorded the wearers neurological reading. With a few tweaks it could be used to monitor vital signs move closely. The main problem with them was that they did not take well riggers of physical impacts and had a habit of falling off. They also did not have a long range which would cause problems for the away team. The other option was the reconfigure the comm badges as they showed a person’s vital signs during search and recovery but it might be a bit fiddly to change it to what he needed. He would talk to the others and see if they have any options that he had not thought about. "If nobody has any further concerns, I will bring this meeting to a close" He looked over at T’Vhor as he pulled himself out of his thoughts and nodded. A.O. Windsong-Trommashere - 15:27) As the meeting was called to a close, Angeni pocketed her things, trying to figure out the best and most secure way to get in contact with Solandro. She knew he was nowhere near Earth, so the normal routes wouldn't work. It then dawned on her; as long as he accessed any SF computer using his codes, the "Mother Ship" as she called the main information technology center for SF, would know his exact location. Any time any information was changed in a persons' medical records, the other person would get a message with the revisions and the name of the physician who made the change. Sitting at the table, she quickly pulled up Solandro's file on her padd. She looked through it, trying to figure out what to change when a smile crossed her face. Solandro was extremely insecure about his height; he stood at five feet, six inches tall, but the majority of his other associates towered over him. After spending several weeks in Zero G training, his spine had stretched and given him an extra two inches, which he coveted. Even though he went back to his normal height after a week or so, his records still held onto the 68" height. With a quick tap of her finger, the height changed from 68" to 66". She sent off the revision and she awaited the frantic message. As she finished up, she went to say good bye to Williams when he leaned in to her. She smiled at him as he spoke. “ I know that you have a lot to do but when you have a minute could you pop down to sickbay and we can see what we can come up with telemetric link?” "Of course, my friend. With one last glance, she ducked out the door. As she did, she nearly ran right into Jake. "Hey!" She said with a grin. "I'm sorry about lunch...duty calls, but you know how that goes. Andrew smiled and nodded. “Thanks any edge we can get on this would be appreciated.” He got up and followed the rest of the officers out of the meeting. He gave a glance around the bridge his eyes lingering on the first officer’s chair for a few seconds. ~Not the time or the place for those memories~ He quickly headed for the turbo lift before he could dredge up any more feeling on the matter. (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge – Acouns, Dr. Riven Mias - 15:29) There had been a lot of innuendo during the meeting which frustrated the Betazoid, he was certainly all on board with the mission but it was obvious that he still was witholding information which confused him. ~Why would he say he would tell us what he knew but still hold back data? Is his information that sketchy ...or damning?~ It was certainly not what Riven would have done but then again he wasn't the CO. Apparently they would have to wait for the full story to unfold before finding out all of the details, details to which some appeared more privy than others including Dr. Williams. Angeni it seemed had been an unknowing runner between the Captain and one of his contatcts within Star Fleet. Riven shrugged his shoulders, it had become apparent on Amleth that the man took caution to extremes at times, this being another one of them. He stood and turned to go as Angeni was talking to the aforementioned Dr. Williams but she finished up and caught him before he stepped away while wearing that beaming smile. "Can we meet up later to catch up? Instead of dinner, we'll get dessert." ~Dessert? ~ At first he was confused by the invitation as he knew she had a sweet tooth but he was a man who 'got around' so to speak and the undertone had an obvious conclusion. "Dinner, yes that would be nice. You can tell me what you've been doing. I think I'll have to skip the dessert however." He patted his stomach with a grin. "Thank you for the invitation though." ~Ah innuendo, truth nestled within a disguise of misunderstanding. "It's good to see you as well." He gave her a warm smile as she turned and hurried toward the door, the smile dipped a bit though in to a thoughtful look as he dallied while she stopped and spoke with the ACEO. Not too many years ago he would have thrown away everything to have her but how things had changed in a few short days and he wondered if he was reading too much into her manner and the connotations of her words. ~She may have found another my dear boy and we are close friends. Perhaps you are just getting jittery over your memories.~ It's what he would tell anyone who would come to him with the question after all and it was very good advice. Why then was he is such a tither? Shrugging he walked past her and out the door to continue his abbreviated sortee around the ship after he checked into his office to see if there had been any messages of oncoming appointments. Windsong-Trommashere - 15:29) Angeni entered her quarters and she shrugged out of her lab coat. "Computer, play some Mozart, please." As Symphony #24 began to play, she ordered up a rose tea and sipped it. Seeing Riven again was probably the highlight of her day. She couldn't wait to sit down with him and reconnect. Something nagged at her as she pulled out the black, tactical cases from her closet. He seemed genuinely happy to see her, but he seemed almost anxious or unnerved. They didn't exactly have the best of partings, so she figured that was the reason. In any event, one of her closest and dearest friends had appeared and she couldn't be happier. Angeni set her tea down and she opened up the case, looking at the black bands. She turned them over in her hand when a voice echoed through her room. "Dr. Trommashere, ma'am. You have a message coming in on a secured channel." She snickered as she took another sip of tea. "Send it through to my quarters, please. Thank you very much." She moved over to her desk and she sat down. Her screen flicked on and the UFP Task Force symbol appeared. She set her mug down, speaking clearly, "Command Authorization Medic Eir Alpha-Nine-Delta-Three-Six-Four-Seven-Nine-Zulu." The screen flicked on and Rakim sat before her. His dark, bald head glistened with sweat. It was obvious he was aboard a Federation vessel, but where? The design of the room behind him reminded her of one of the heavy warships, but...she just wasn't sure. "Commander." She smiled from behind her mug as she took another sip. "What a pleasant surprise, sir." "Ang..." While his voice was stern, she could hear the mirth behind it. "Please, change it back." Angeni nodded and held up a padd. With a quick stroke, she changed the information. "Now, I need a solid from you." Solandro leaned back in his chair, rubbing his hand. "Anything." "Do you think that the person who messaged you would be willing to talk to you again?" She watched as fire seemed to burst forth from his ears. "Did...did you...I told..." He was so angry he could barely speak. Angeni waved her hands in the air like she was trying to flag down a cab. "No! The Captain listened to the message, asked me if I could get in contact with you, who would in turn get in contact with whomever sent you the message." Rakim's face softened and he sighed. "I'm sorry, Ang. Things are a little...hinky. I'm sure you understand. Information is being leaked everywhere to the point we don't know what is real information or not. The messenger is our only quote-unquote unspoiled fount of information." "So...the messenger is alive?" Rakim nodded. The fact that Rakim wasn't using The Messengers' name meant that he even felt that the UFP channel wasn't completely secure. Angeni took another sip from her mug and as she did, she let her thumb graze her cheekbone. It was an innocent motion that spoke volumes. Rakim in returned rubbed his nose as if it were itching as Angeni continued the conversation. "If you talk to Drak anytime in the near future, let him know the kitten he found in the warehouse...the one he named Tempest, was placed with a family a few days ago." "Oh?" Solandro smiled. He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. "Sorry kid, I'm gettin old. You know he'll ask, where did the kitten go?" "Uh..." She picked up her padd again, scrolling the screen. "Some Starbase...either 29 or 49...I don't remember and I can't find where I wrote it down. A family got deployed out there and they wanted to take something with them. They were perfect. I was afraid because of the cargo ship, the kittens' transfer would've been compromised, but they had no issue." Angeni stretched her fingers on the desk. "I will let him know when I see him. Want me to tell him where you're at?" Angeni nodded eagerly. "Please do! Tell him I can't wait to hear from him. I have to go, Commander. We'll catch up later." With a little wave, the screen shut off. She put the bands back in their case and she slipped her coat back on. It had been an effort of pure will to keep from rolling his eyes when the Captain had asked his superior for a full report. ~If there had been anything wrong I would have mentioned it yes...no?~ But it was well within their rights after all, the CO and CEO to speak on the matter though he felt like he had just been snubbed. ~This is Star Fleet Jake, and the military way is alive and well here. That's what the command line is for.~ It didn't mollify him by much even though he would be over it by the time he walked through the doors to Engineering. It hadn't escaped his notice though that K'Tell appeared to be fatigued which was why he had stepped up his activities in the department, being the cheif's go- between and doing more of the 'paperwork' including requisitions and reports to give K'Tell a break from the madhouse the department had turned into during the refit, repairs and upgrade while they had been docked. When the meeting was over he stood up and gave the chief a wink, his spirits already returning before he turned and started for the door. He was arguably a bit preoccupied with his thoughts when he nearly walked into Dr. Trommashere, his holodeck partner as they both stepped up to the portal. ."Hey!" Angeni was smiling and he broke into a grin, heck what young man ever could withstand such a look? "I'm sorry about lunch...duty calls, but you know how that goes. He shrugged, knowing she had a lot on her plate right now which was the same reason their lunch meeting of a few days ago had been cut short, some urgent communique from the officer T'Vor wanted her to get back into contact with probably. Whistling a sharp tune he followed her out the door while he forced his mind back onto Engineering matters, while it was true everything was green there were some critical components he wanted to run some tests on just to ease his own mind. While the repairs appeared to be flawless there was no way to know until they were put under stress and he could do they by simulation, he would feel better knowing for sure before he took unproven components into a life or death situation. She turned to Santiago and she stood up and stretched her sore back muscles. “Can you finish up here? I have to get to engineering.” “Sure thing Chief.” Wai nodded and then headed towards main engineering. He looked around after stepping through the doors then walked to the Selkie who was waiting for him. "Sorry about holding you up there, I got caught with a mighty thirst." He cleared his throat as he shook her hand. "I've got a list of simulations we need to run on some of the new components and I'd like for you to program the parameters into the main interface here so we can verify their hardiness in the event they come under heavy use during the mission." "I've got a list of simulations we need to run on some of the new components and I'd like for you to program the parameters into the main interface here so we can verify their hardiness in the event they come under heavy use during the mission." Wai nodded. “Not a problem Sir. If you have the list we can get started?” (Reply Haltom) She took the PADD and moved over to a console and began to input the information. She looked over at Haltom. “It is a pity that we three could not back to the holodeck recently work seems to be piling on a lot at the moment . I really enjoyed what we did there.” (Reply Haltom) (Reply Haltom, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 13, Main Engineering – ACEO, Ensign Jake Haltom - 16:03) “Not a problem Sir. If you have the list we can get started?” "Of course." Jake handed her the PADD and as she turned toward the console he noticed another technician working nearby. A grin stole onto his face which he quickly squelched. "Hey Gork did you fall on your face this morning? You're looking prettier today." The Tellerite turned from her console with a snarl. "Watch it there toothpick, if your nose grows any longer I'll be able to use it for a high jump bar." She then blinked slyly. "It's pleasant to work with someone who knows civil speech, it makes the day go faster." "Spare me your hypocritical compliments." Jake snapped. "They make me want to vomit." "Then blow it out of your ears, maybe it will clean them out so you can hear better." Gork snapped back then turned back to her work while unsuccessfully trying to hide a smile. Jake chuckled, the drier your sense of humor the easier it was to work with the species and he was one who cultivated that type of humor. As he returned his attention to Wai whose fingers were flying across the keyboard she looked up. “It is a pity that we three could not back to the holodeck recently work seems to be piling on a lot at the moment. I really enjoyed what we did there.” "I am in complete agreement." Jake nodded with the smile still on his face. "I just thought the simulation was fun till you and Angeni got involved. I may putter around in it from time to time, riding my horses or hanging around the inn but no more questing for me until the two of you are available. Unfortunately from what I'm hearing things are going to get much busier for a while, hopefully for not too long though." "By the way I appreciate your help here, you are saving me a lot of time." He winked. "I estimated two hours for myself to get the job done but I'll bet you get it finished in less than one." (Reply: Wai) "While you're doing that I'm going to call OPS and let them know what we're going to be doing. Once we start the tests on the main power dispersal nodes here in Engineering they are going to have to do a bit of juggling to keep the energy flow to the rest of the ship stable." (Reply: Wai) (Posted by Charles) (ATV Garralon – Science Department, Jefferies Tube 12, C – Cadet Porsa – 16:05) Right now the situation on board the Garralon seemed worse than hopeless. Their warp core had been ejected four days previous, their back-up power was fading, they were lost in a seemingly endless swirling pink and green mist, sensors were down and there were... Dragons! The first time one had appeared, Porsa had been poking around in an engineering conduit trying to carry out Kurriks dubious plan to enhance the food replicators to provide his Grandmothers favourite recipe for Plommik soup. Why he actually wanted that right now was completely beyond her and it was also totally beyond what anyone might expect from a Vulcan on a ship that had been dying for days! A Vulcan! With an insistent appetite? It was just what they all needed... The arrival of the Dragon though had somewhat expectedly caught Porsa a little off guard. I mean, were there even Dragons in this region of space? Did Dragons even exist anywhere? Apparently so. Regardless of the seemingly ridiculous notions that were now constantly forming in the young Woman's mind, she had continued on with Kurriks replicator adjustments. Why? Even she didn't know. The point though was that she could at least remain focused on something other than more Dragons appearing and starting to talk to her! =/\=Porsa, I'm not seeing my Grandmothers recipe yet=/\= The comms announcement had taken her by surprise yet again, and with a rage born of almost total denial, she threw the hypospanner against the opposite bulkhead and watched it bounce down a grating, lost. Probably forever. "Oops", she said, before chuckling to herself almost maniacally. "Umm, Kurrik", she said, once she had regained her composure. "Screw you!" In her minds eye she could almost see the Vulcans eyebrow arching in confusion. He'd probably hit something as well, another trait that Kurrik was exhibiting of late, an emotion that seemed so far removed from normal Vulcan behaviour and yet there it was. Two days beforehand he had smashed up a replicator with his bare fists and had required medical assistance from a sickbay where no medical personnel actually existed. Porsa hated the sight of blood and the fact that this was Green blood made no odds to that at all. She had passed out in an instance and had banged her head on the bulkhead with a sickening thud, thus leaving Twinnings to patch the two of them up himself! "Are you there Kurrik?", asked Porsa, gaining an element of sudden compassion after her obvious rebuttal. =/\=I am neither here not there=/\= Came the confusing response. Porsa closed her eyes tightly and then shook her head. ~What the hell is that supposed to mean~ "Then where are you?", said Porsa. Silence. Even the pause seemed odd. Kurrik hardly ever paused in anything, especially when the answer should have been so straight forward. But then nothing in this place seemed straight forward anymore and the ship had seemingly been invaded by strange manifestations along with corporeal beasts of legend and myth. Kurrik finally answered, but the answer that he gave was not exactly one that Porsa had expected. =/\=I am walking the exterior hull of the ship=/\= he answered. =/\=I seem to remember that my Grandmother gave me the recipe that I now require whilst we were last in spacedock, and that the requisite document flew out of my hand and left the gantry via an atmospheric rebalance valve just before we left=/\= he added. "Excuse me", said Porsa, wondering then what the Vulcan was actually talking about. =/\=My Grandmothers recipe for Plommik soup may have attached itself to the hull of the Garralon. It is my sincere hope that I might be able to find it, thus avoiding the need for you to make the necessary adjustments to the ships replicators, thereby avoiding any further need for your continued inability to provide an answer=/\= Porsa stood there, slack jawed. What was it with him and his damned soup? "Kurrik, you get your dumb ass back in this ship right now, do you here me?", she voiced, concerned now for his welfrare. =/\=When I find the recipe, I will return. Kurrik out=/\= The comms then went dead leaving Porsa holding her breath as though trying to hold it purely for the Vulcan outside. Was he actually hallucinating again? Or had he really taken an EVA suit and gone outside? "You mad, insane, green blooded....", she spewed, before quickly opening a channel to Twinnings, who she hoped was at least still seeing sense. "Porsa to Twinnings" (Reply Twinnings) "Kurrik is apparently outside the ship. Are you actually aware of this?", she asked. (Reply Twinnings) It was then that she heard the sound again. That terrifying sound of talons scratching along the metal grids in the floor of the Jefferies tube followed by the low growl and hiss that she knew so well now... (Reply Twinnings) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor and FO, Cmdr Hoshimi Tsukawa - 16:15) The Captain sat, ready to begin. His armrest console was already relaying specific positional data on the void and the ships proximity to it whilst Tactical gave the announcement that they were now ready to deploy the Class II sensor probe. The Captain needed no further prompting and immediately ordered the probe launched. (Reply Tactical, IYW) The moment the probe had entered the void it began searching for anything that might lead them to a possible vessel, even if that vessel was now in a thousand and one separate pieces! The fact existed of course, that there might actually be many vessels still lost in this place and that anyone one of them might turn out to be NOT the Garallon. Then of course there was the possibility that the data coming back from the probe might not be precisely reliable! Some might have said then that the launching of a probe into such a place would have been a pointless act, but then what choice did they have? With the probe away though and telemetry now being received at both the Tactical and Science stations, all they could do now, was wait... (Reply Tactical, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:45) The announcement from the bridge had been unexpected. Surprisingly, it had not taken too long for the probe to find something at least, and judging by what Science was now saying, it looked like it had detected a warp signature! The only thing strange about this though was that initial readings suggested that the vessel it belonged to was just under Six metres in length, which was hardly big enough to have been a starship! A shuttle of some sort perhaps, but probably not a Federation shuttle? Another species maybe? It was possible. Either way, the Captain's place now was on the bridge and with that in mind, he stood and exited his ready room. (Reply None) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:47) "Report", said the Captain upon retaking his seat from the first officer. "Sir, we have a number of conflicting readings currently coming from the probe", began Hoshimi. "There are many fragments of... something, some biomatter and, a definite warp signature", she added. The Captain thought back to the dimensions being reported. A Six metre vessel! "A warp core?", offered the Captain. "We are not sure, Sir", said Hoshimi. "It could be, given the dimensions it can't be the Garallon" "I need something more than the fact that this is just a warp core", said the Captain, "is there a particle trail leading away from the core?", he asked. (Reply Science, Any) The Captain pondered the information given, then he turned to Hoshimi once again. "Advise?", he asked, relying upon the FO for her own input here as any Captain would. "We could take a shuttle in", she suggested, "but given the nature of this place we might not find it again. Perhaps we should just take the ship in?" The Captain pondered that for a moment or two. Hoshimi was right of course, dare they risk losing a shuttle and crew in a place that had been reported to defy the laws of physics andwarp reality? Contrary to what some might say, It certainly made sense in this instance to perhaps keep all of their eggs in one basket so to speak. The Captain settled back into his seat and then finally gave his decision based on logic, alerting the Tactical officer first. "Deploy a navigational bouy at our current location", he ordered, turning quickly then to the helm. "Helm, proceed into the void. One quarter impulse, maintain a lock on the navigational bouy, the sensor probe and the reported findings within the void so as to maintain our navigational anchors", he ordered. (Reply Tactical, Helm) The ship then began to move forwards, the pink haze slowly filling the viewscreen as they neared its perimeter...
