It had been a long day, but not enough to take him down yet. He hit his comm badge. "Alpha shift, I need a repair team to be ready to leave the ship. Any of you with spare personnel send them to main engineering. I'll send back those that are to remain. Durgil out." (Reply, Alpha shift members) (Posted by: John Smith) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Engineering Crewman, Lt (JG) Norman Bates - 18:22) For once, Bates was not the butt of someones jokes. Indeed it had become somewhat tiresome of late, same old same old's, How's your mother Norman?, visited anyone in the shower lately?... Har har har, very funny. NOT. Sometimes, just like the fictional character in the story everyone referred to, Norman hated his mother for giving him the name 'Norman'. What on Earth, or off of it, was she thinking, did she not foresee the hell that her offspring would unddoubtably go through with such a name as Norman? And what of his father, he was an educated man, surely he should have seen it? However, for the most part Norman had of course risen above the smart alec remarks, a few times he had actually even countered them rather wittingly and had felt slightly proud of himself for doing so, most of the time though they just annoyed him, hence his distinctive remoteness from the rest of the crew, despite the fact that he had probably been the only one that had spotted something amiss with Crewman Bruce! ~Just one more tweak, one little shove along the x axis and.....~ Bates was aware of the hubbub going on all around him of course, the ship they had just drawn alongside, what was it, the Dauntless? Some were saying that it had been assumed that the Spectre had disabled her. How ridiculous was that? ~Forty two degree angle variation on the flow conduit, push to forty five... there we go~ Bates looked up briefly from the screen, a call had just come down from the bridge and Durgil had taken it. Norman continued on. ~Just... one... more...~ "Yes!", he cried as the figures suddenly alligned and the simulation beeped a positive result, causing a smile from Norman as he looked to Durgil, who by now was calling for assistance also. Something about needing crew to go over to the Dauntless. The call drew him momentarilly from his thoughts of success in regards the sim he had just run through terminal nine, he had actually just succeeded in increasing plasma flow through the simulation by two percent via an offset algorhythm that really shouldn't have worked... or so everyone had told him. Bates though, irrespective of what everyone else thought, was an exceptional engineer, Lieutenant H'Chir himself had found him promising, and although he had often tried to include him in pertinent engineering discussions, Bate's awkwardness never failed to get in the way, and now that H'Chir was a tad messed up, well, more messed up than usual anyway, Bates was a lost soul once again. But he put his hand up nonetheless... "I can assist there", he chirped, "at least, if I'm needed that is", he added, returning once again to 'awkward' Norman. (Reply Durgil, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Dauntless - Bridge – Corporal Houseman - 18:22) Houseman watched the bridge from his position at the ready room door. As the Spectre arrived on the scene. "Tactical, keep a tight lid on it." "This is First Officer Maggie, to whom am I speaking?" =/\=Captain T'Vhor of the USS Spectre=/\= =/\=I have been given authorization to come alongside and offer assistance in any manner you may deem necessary =/\= "We do not...require your assistance Captain," ~Yeh coz most starships fly around like a hulk~ =/\=Nevertheless, we are here to offer assistance, I have medical and Engineering crews ready to beam aboard,=/\= said T'Vhor. "very well, we will be ready to receive you." ~I’m suprised that we’ll get this ship going with out a tow at least~ "Tactical, make sure you double check every possible possibility that THAT isn't the ETHOS ship." ~And if you fire on my ship you won’t finish that order mate that’s for sure~ "Security, have security forces set up around the ship. Engineering and Sickbay be ready to accept personnel." ~Well they did a lot of good the first time~ (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 13, Main Engineering - Chief Wai Biign - 18:22) =^=Alpha shift, I need a repair team to be ready to leave the ship. Any of you with spare personnel send them to main engineering. I'll send back those that are to remain. Durgil out=^= Wai pulled herself out of a crawl space that she had been in. She knew that she was on beta team but at this moment she was doing a double so technically she was on alpha and there was no way she was going to be left out of this. As she moved onto the deck she gave herself a quick scan of her hydration suit that all Selkie had to wear out side of any aquatic environment. ~All seals are intact, seal spray to hand, oxygen filters are all new and spears are at hand~ Her hand ran over a small bulge under her uniform at her hip. It was an emergency hydration bladder which was a last ditch manoeuvre in case her suit hand a massive seal failure and she was leaking like a sieve. She was happy that she could survive anything that could happen on the away mission. She came to a halt near where Durgil, Bates were talking. “Sirs. Reporting as requested.” (Reply Durgil, Bates) (Reply Durgil, Bates, any) (Posted by: Robbie) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Ensign Durgil - 18:23) As he ended the comm line, Durgil had thought he had heard someone exclaim in joy. ~Well, someone is enthusiastic...~ Although it seemed awkward, Durgil smiled to hear the despite the high tensions, someone could still rejoice in a victory over something. Aldlar made the announcement that he needed people and began to return to his work of organizing what they would need when they got there. 'I can assist there, at least, if I'm needed that is.' Aldlar looked up towards the voice, seeing the man with his hand up who had spoken. "Oh, any help is appreciated. And, if you don't mind, what's your specialty. I'm thinking when we're over there, separating into two groups would help better." Aldlar's voice was warm and inviting, and he had slightly felt like he remembered the voice... Despite being in conversation as well, Aldlar kept to work, but his manner still showed attention toward Bates. (Reply, Bates, any other engineers/npc engineers) (Posted by: John) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – FO Williams - 18:23) Andrew watched as Audrey was moved out of the operating theatre and into a secure observation bay. He saw the barrier spring into place and the two security officers move into position either side. =^=I want teams assembled and ready to go immediately, an Engineering team led by Ensign Durgil and a medical team headed by either Doctor Huvall, if he can be spared, or any other senior medical officer on hand=^= He thought about what T’Vhor had said and was relieved that he had not sent him. As Chief Medical Officer he should go and begin to assess the patients for transfer to the ship but on a personal note he wanted to be near Audrey. He looked over at Huvall who was already starting to get ready, smiled to himself and let him get on with his away mission. He looked back at Audery and took a couple of steps closer until he was standing inches away from the humming security barrier. He could see her laying asleep on the bio-bed in a chemically induced sleep from the powerful drugs that had been used. As he watched he saw her breathing increase speed and her chest moved more as she began to take deeper breaths.. ~Looks like the induction agents and muscle relaxants are wearing off quickly. She will be awake soon~ He turned to Chief Rock who was in charge of the security team. “Chief can you lower the forcefield… She will be awake shortly and will need closer observation.” (Reply Rock) (Reply Rock, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Engineering Crewman, Lt (JG) Norman Bates - 18:24) Perhaps it was all simply because they were in a crisis of sorts, Ensign Durgil, the man tasked with assembling the engineering away team, smiling warmly at Norman's offer to assist? It almost took him off guard for he wasn't particularly used to people being even remotely nice to him and the fact this person was, made a refreshing change. Why, Durgil had even taken the trouble to quiz Bate's on his specialities. Norman shrugged his shoulders and pursed his lips in response, then he stumbled through his next sentence. "I - I can go, wherever, wherever I'm required really", said Norman, "my speciality, if you need to know is... warp physics. But, as I say, I can go anywhere really", he added. (Reply Durgil) Bates nodded his head appropriately at the suggestion and then queried the Duantless' condition. "I've heard the Dauntless's drive is currently offline", he said, "do, do we know whether she has had to eject the core or anything?" (Reply Durgil) Bates nodded again. It looked as if it was going to be a 'suck it and see' kind of outing, not that Norman was in any way averse to that of course and besides, it added to the enjoyment he got from the logical detective work that would invariably follow. "I'll fetch an engineering kit, equipped for any and all possibilities then", said Norman, relaxing a little now it would seem due to Durgil's hospitable nature, and then he headed off to do just that. (Reply Durgil, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – ACEO, Ensign (JG) Aldlar Durgil - 18:25) Aldlar watched as Bates shrugged and readied himself for his next sentence. 'I - I can go, wherever, wherever I'm required really. My speciality, if you need to know is... warp physics. But, as I say, I can go anywhere really.' "Well, That's good. I guess I'll have you working on the warp systems. I'm personally more into the actual systems than their hardware." 'I've heard the Dauntless's drive is currently offline. Do, do we know whether she has had to eject the core or anything?' "Can't say I have. Basically, I'm just preparing for basic stabilization of the warp core, SIF repair, and power systems. We'll have to specialize the repairs once we've seen exactly what we need to work with." Bates nodded again. Aldlar returned to readying supplies to go. Already, about 10 engineers had reported, excluding himself and Bates. With just a few more, they'd be ready to go. "I'll fetch an engineering kit, equipped for any and all possibilities then." Aldlar could hear the man's voice loosening in relaxation from it's previous tensity. 'Sirs. Reporting as requested.' Aldlar turned to look at the selkie. Her voice sounded familiar from earlier... "Biign, right? Recognize the voice from earlier... We'll be heading over soon, once we get two more people. Grab a kit and join the crowd." (Reply, Biign) As Aldlar finished noting who he had, the last two members arrived, making the repair crew ready. Aldlar opened a comm link. "Durgil to the captain, I've got the engineering crew ready to depart. We'll be heading over now." (Reply, T'Vhor, IFW) "Alright people, lets get going." (Reply, Bates, Biign, Any) (Posted by John) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 18:26) The Captain allowed himself a deep exhalation of breath as the Dauntless came into view, it's hull blackened and burnt by whatever it was that had hit them. Clearly the attack had been more of a statement than a desire to destroy the ship, otherwise it would have surely finished them off! Why though would somebody want to make such a statement? The reports had come in that the Dauntless was under the impression that it had been attacked by the Spectre itself, the reports backed that up, now it was all beginning to fall into place. Clearly logic dictated that someone, somewhere wanted Starfleet command to think that the Spectre's CO had gone rogue but for what purpose? T'Vhor pondered this for a short while, it made sense that the ship they were now looking for would have changed it's appearance once again, it would have to, otherwise it would become a target of it's own ruse. But to what? =/\=Durgil to the captain, I've got the engineering crew ready to depart. We'll be heading over now.=/\= The communication had been expected but nonetheless it had broken the Captains chain of thought. "Thank you Mr Durgil, you are cleared to depart when ready, please keep me updated on your progress", said the Captain. (Reply Durgil, Any) "Understood, bridge out", said T'Vhor as he closed the comms and then opened another channel to the First officer. "Captain to Commander Williams", he said. (Reply Williams) "How is you're sister Andrew, is she able to discuss her involvement in the attacks that we have sustained?", asked the Captain. (Reply Williams) "Very well, the moment she is able to I want you to see what you can find out about this ETHOS equipped vessel, we need to know what she knows by whatever means", said T'Vhor. (Reply Williams) "Commander", said the Captain thoughtfully, "would you say that Audrey was well enough to undergo a mind meld?" (Reply Williams) (Reply Durgil, Williams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Main Engineering – Chief Wai Biign - 18:26) She saw Durgil look at her. "Biign, right? Recognize the voice from earlier... We'll be heading over soon, once we get two more people. Grab a kit and join the crowd." "Yes Sir." She turned and went over to a engineering access hatch and retrieved an engineering kit. She opened it and quickly glanced at its contents to make sure that it was all correct before returning to the group. "Durgil to the captain, I've got the engineering crew ready to depart. We'll be heading over now." (Reply, T'Vhor, IFW) "Alright people, lets get going." ~Great were are off~ (Reply Any.) There's a posisbility of me having to have more things transported over, depending on the severity of the damages, but we'll figure that out." =/\=Understood, bridge out.=/\= Aldlar waited a moment, recollecting his thoughts for a moment. "Alright people, lets get going." (Reply Any) (Posted by John) (USS Dauntless - Transporter Room 1 - Engineering Crewman, Lt JG, Norman Bates - 18:30) Arriving as a shimmering stream of coalescing particles upon the transporter pad of the Dauntless' transporter room, Bates took a moment to compose himself as his body ceased 'fizzing', then he stepped down from the platform, his shoulder bag held close to his body as he glanced about the room. It was typically non descript, the same as the Spectre's, Norman wondered about that for a moment, why they were always so bland, then he pushed the thought aside so as to focus on more pressing issues. Durgil and the rest of the team had by now stepped off the pads also, there had been the usual greetings from the transporter operator, followed then by a brief rundown on where the team were to report. Thankfully, the core had not been ejected and it had been reported as stable but offline, Norman knew where he would be going. Pleasantries exchanged, he respected the chain of command, built not upon rank but of leadership qualities. Even though Norman was technically a superior rank to the man tasked with leading this away team, he respected the Captain's decision, it was probably for the best anyway, Norman was hardly the kind of man who could be considered a leader of men. Tentatively, he turned to Durgil. "I guess you would want me at the warp core sir", he said, adding the sir because the man was leading, and as such deserved the title. (Reply Durgil, Any on team) (Posted by Alan) (USS Dauntless - Transporter Room 1 - ACEO, Ensign (JG) Aldlar Durgil - 18:31) After the initial introductions, Aldlar began to instruct the teams on where to go. "Alright, you three, head down to propulsion, report back once you've assessed any damages there. You there, You'll be with her, checking on the shields. You guys are on weapons, And y'all on the structural integrity field." Aldlar watched for a moment as the designated people began to head off where they were told to go. 'I guess you would want me at the warp core sir.' "I believe thats the size of it. Biign, you go with him. I'll check with the chief over here, then get back with you guys once I've got a better idea what's going on." (Reply, Bates, Biign, engineering members.) As soon as they had left, Aldlar turned towards the man that had greeted them. "Where can I find the chief engineer?" "Last I heard, he was in a meeting with the captain. However, it should be ending, so you could probably meet him on his way down." "Alright thanks." Aldlar headed for the turbo lift, heading to the main conference room, to wait for the chief. They explained pleasantries with the transporter operative and then got a run down of the problems with the ship. She turned to Durgil as Bates spoke up. "I guess you would want me at the warp core sir", She repositioned her engineering pack more comfortably on her shoulders and waited for Durgil to give out his orders (Reply Durgil, Bates ,Any on team) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – FO, Williams & Audrey Williams - 18:33) =^=Captain to Commander Williams=^= ”Williams here Captain. He looked over to Rock and gave him a nod. “Please lower the force field and keep a close eye on her, she is still dangerous.” (Reply Rock) Andrew stepped up to the bio-bed. “I was aiming at you're head.”, said Audrey slyly turning her head and looked at him with a half cocked smile. “Well you could never shoot straight.” Andrew regarded her closely. “What are you doing here Audrey?”, he asked. “Well that’s a nice way to treat your big sister.”, said Audrey. “You are going to tell me what I need to know.”, said Williams. Audrey sneered at him. “What are you going to do torture me! That’s not up to your high moral standards as LoDona men now.” “You attacked this ship and put its crew in danger. Regulations and morality are fast going out the air lock. Anyway, we could just get the Captain down and give you a mind meld.”, said Williams. “I would not do that if you value T’Vhors life.” Andrew eyed her suspiciously. “During training we were infected with an enhanced echo strain of the Bendii syndrome. He would lose all emotional control in hours and die in 24.” Andrew turned to the console beside him and started a brain scan searching for the telltale signs of Bendii syndrome. He swore softly to himself as the results blinked onto the screen. “Why did you do this? Do you hate us that much, has five years turned you so bitter and twisted?” Audrey gave him a long stare before she started. “I did not do this for some strange idealistic ideas. I may not like your political views but Admiral Doenitz’s people are not known for being cute and cuddly......I did this to save you, you idiot.” Andrew paused slightly taken aback by what she had said. “Me!” “You are my brother, my last surviving member of my family. When the 52nd fleet vanished five years ago I became truly alone and slowly, I began to realize that I had spent so much time fighting that I really did not who I was and who you had grown up to be. I realized that I needed my family more then ever…”, said Audrey sadly. “And then you're back as if nothing had happened and I finally got my chance to get away and find you. I did not want you to die so I tried to get you away. The only way to save you from dying on this mission was to take you away before we flooded the ship. That did not work so I had to improvise which led me to you shooting me. ” “But why go to all this bother. Why try and sink the Spectre, and what is the ship that took our place?” Audery smiled. “A wonderful peace of technology the ETHOS device. I was amazed that it had not been used more often. Anyway, there is a group fanatically loyal to Admiral Doenitz who call themselves the Board. From what I was able to find out they are a very secretive organization in the heart of the Federation. They are made up of members of Starfleet admiralty and Federation politicians who have since the end of the civil war and the disappearance of the 52 fleet, been gaining power and influence throughout the other fleets and the federation.” “Then with the sudden return of the 52nd fleet the Board have been worried about the balance of power within Starfleet. This is due to the fact that the Board has no sway on what happens to the fleet, or spies within it.” “They devised a plan that would give them access to the fleet and put spies on board its starships. Their plan was to first gain access to the USS Spectre as this was a starship with history of clandestine missions and also a multi-phasic cloaking device. It was considered an important ship.”, said Audrey. “From what I could find out their first plan to get information nearly ended in disaster and exposed the Board. Their agent tried to invade Lieutenant Walker Isengard’s mind but was fought off. They then realised that it would be too risky to try again so they decided instead to discredit the 52 fleet, their senior officers would be removed and the fleet would be disbanded. This would spread the ships of the 52 to other fleets where they would have less power or influence.” “Their plan was to use the experimental tactical holo-ship to lure the USS Spectre to the Falconer system. The holo-ship would then disable the USS Spectre so that they could plant evidence on her. Then the holo-ship disguised as the USS Spectre would head to earth where it would attack convoys and draw attention to its self. When it reached earth it would destroy Starfleet headquarters and abduct Admiral Robert LoDona.” “The Board would say that because of the USS Spectre’s actions in attacking the convoys and destroying Starfleet headquarters, as well as the abduction of Admiral Robert LoDona, that both he and the Spectre were attempting a rebellion and that the 52 fleet should be disbanded and its senior officers removed. The USS spectre and Admiral Robert LoDona would then be hunted by the fleet until they were ‘found’ at the Falconer system where there had been a ‘battle’ and the ship disabled....Unfortunately though, they would of course not have been able to save Admiral Robert LoDona or the crew USS Spectre.” Andrew paused for a moment trying to take it all in. “Why are you telling me all this?”, he asked. “As much as I don’t particularly like the present government, they are a whole less crazy and twisted then what the Board would be if they got control. If you thought the civil war was bad, this would be worse.” “So what was your involvement in this plot?” Audrey took a long breath as she began to tell her part in the mission. “Me and my team were supposed to gain entrance to the ship. Get to the computer and plant a virus that would open every seal and hatch to the sea. This would then flood the ship and give us access and to plant incriminating evidence that would be found when the fleet arrived to search the ship.” “You got to the computer room and obviously planted a virus so what went wrong?”, said Williams, confused. A sly smiled danced across Audrey’s face. “I swapped it for one of my own. I’m not stupid enough to want to kill the whole crew. It was a stupid plan anyhow. No one would have believed it any way.”, she said, pausing now. “Have you checked my team’s suits? There is a small device that I inserted into their oxygen regulators. It would have increased their suits internal pressure till they died. It would have been almost instant which was more then they deserved. I could have only activate it when I uploaded the virus as we were all being monitored, but they were all dead by the time that I got to the computer room.” “So, what can you tell me about the ship that attacked us.”, asked Williams. Audrey paused for a moment. “Not a lot, I only got the general details. The Experimental tactical holo-ship is called the NX Guardian, it's a modified Akira class starship which has been fitted with holo-emitters across the hull so that it can change its image to match any Starfleet vessel, as well as the ability to change its warp signature and other information to let it assume its target ship exactly. There is no way the fleet would be able to tell the difference unless they boarded her.” ~Well that’s helpful isn’t it~ Andrew turned to Rock. “I think we better get the Captain down here.”, he said, worried. She shook her head at the results. “Lucky for you it is only a dislocated shoulder.” She put her tricorder down and gently held his arm. “Okay this is going to hurt a bit.” With that she gave it a firm pull and felt it pop back into place. The crewman gritted his teeth and gave a soft hiss. She quickly scanned his shoulder again to make sure it had gone back in the right place. “That’s it back into place. This will help for the pain. "Umm, lets see here, I think Ensign Boller over there has a bad spleenal rupture, better start off there, other than that just have a look around and take your pick mate, maybe later we can grab a mug of coffee and you can explain what I'm going to be doing on the spectre....." John broke off as the already-crowded doors had to separate themselves and pour in more wounded. ~Bloody hell, i wish I had looked at the crew manifest, seems to be endless....~ (Reply Dr. Williams, any of his medical crew) (Posted by Ben) (USS Dauntless - Sickbay – FO, Williams - 18:44) “Umm, lets see here, I think Ensign Boller over there has a bad spleenal rupture, better start off there, other than that just have a look around and take your pick mate, maybe later we can grab a mug of coffee and you can explain what I'm going to be doing on the spectre....." Andrew looked from Freeman to Ensign Boller and nodded. ~Ah yes Freeman, forgot Dauntless was bringing us replacements~ “Definatly have a cuppa and a chat later. Now I won’t disturb you from your fun. The Spectre’s set up for medical transfer so if you need space send them across.” A smile crept across his face as he moved over to Boller. ~Ow I have missed this~ Boller was lying on a bio-bed. Andrew glanced at the monitor above him. ~Increased heart rate, reduced blood pressure and from the scans better stop the bleeding soon or he’ll have nothing to pump round his body~ “Mr Boller, Mr Boller can you hear me?” Boller groaned and turned his head towards him. “You have a ruptured spleen which is causing you to bleed internally. I am going to have to go in and fix it to save your life, do you understand?” Boller gave another groan but nothing verbalising as consent. ~Well than it’s my decision and it's got to be done or he will die~ He had picked up a hypospray as he activated the bio-beds surgical mechanism. “Mr Boller I am going to put you to sleep as I operate. See you on the other side. We will take good care of you.” He injected Boller with the hypospray. He waited until Boller’s readings showed that he was correctly anesthetised for him to start surgery. He picked up a scalpel form the table and put his hands through the force field and began. He worked quickly, working through the skin and muscle until he reached the spleen. He grabbed the suction to clear the blood from around the rupture and then stated to seal the large tear with autosutures. Once he was happy that the bleeding was stopped and the tear totally closed he picked up a dermal regenerator and began to heal the incision he had made. He stepped back looking at his work and nodded with satisfaction. He quickly entered what he had done onto the data pad on the bio-bed before tapping his comm badge. “Williams to Spectre. One post surgery patient to be transferred to ITU information following.” =^=Understood=^= Andrew transferred all the information on Ensign Boller as well as his operation notes and post operation details to Spectres ITU department as Boller dematerialised in front of him. He stepped back from the bio-bed and surveyed sickbay. He saw his team and the Dauntless’s sickbay staff working their way through the patients. He spotted Douwsy who had jammed herself by the main door treating the minor injuries that were coming in and sending them away so that they would not congest sickbay even more. He spotted Freeman who had just finished with a case. He grabbed two bottles of water from a container and walked over to Freeman. “Here have this.” He handed Freeman the bottle of water as he took a gulp of his own. (Reply Freeman) “Fixed the spleen and sent Boller to Spectres ITU as it seems a bit full here.” (Reply Freeman) Andrew nodded and looked around sickbay. “Well I guess you did not expect this when you boarded the Dauntless” (Reply Freeman) (Reply Freeman, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Dauntless - Sickbay - ACMO, Ensign (Jg) John Freeman - 18:50) Williams nodded to the young engineering officer lying on the bio-bed opposite them. "Definately have a cuppa and a chat later. Now, I won't disturb you from your fun. The Spectre is all set up for Med. transfers, so If you need space send them across." "I'll remember that, sir, and I am pretty sure we will need the space, it's like a boiling fry pan here..." John had been so busy with the other patients that he didn't notice that Williams was finished with Boller, in fact, the next thing he heard from him it was Williams himself at his shoulder handing him a water bottle. "Thanks. I didn't even see those or I'd have been there 10 minutes ago" "I fixed up the spleen and sent Boller to the ITU as it seems a bit full here" "Yes. At the moment we are struggling to keep a steady power source to the ICU beds! I'm surprised you didn't blow a fuse when you operated" The FO nodded and had a bit of a glance around the Sickbay. "Well I guess you didn't expect this when you boarded the Dauntless", Williams stated. "Well, who would ever guess that the ship you were going to meet would attack you, then seemingly turn around and help you... it's all a little over the top for some of us" "Well" John finnished "We'd better get back to help our poor EMH, care to work with me?" (Reply Williams) (Posted by Ben) (USS Spectre – Science Laboratory – ACSO, Ensign Teverine Tolqu - 19:00) Tolqu wiped the sweat from his brow as he continued his work scouring through reams of information, looking up at Hightower he smiled weakly. He felt he had not slept in weeks. Every muscle in his body ached as he bent over the vidscreen. He felt like he had run a marathon on no liquid and had reached the end line only to be told he was half way through. He sighed unconsciously letting out the stress of the past few days. This was not he had expected for his first mission and things seemed to get only more complicated as the days unfolded. Without knowing it he gently rubbed his lower back trying to loosen the crystallized lumps in his sinewy muscle. ~ I should of stayed in the brig back on that Starbase ~ He silently mused to himself, with an ironic smile he thought at that time things could not get any worse. How wrong he was. As he worked with Hightower he compiled the relevant data of the last few hours and restricted it to the vital bits of information his commander would need to see. =/\= Tolqu to T’Vhor I am sending you the science departments update now for your review =/\= (Reply T’Vhor) Looking up to Hightower he nodded his thanks at her help. “I think it is time we had a rest we’ll meet back in 5 hours to continue but neither of us have slept in 24 hours.” (Reply T'Vhor, Hightower) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Spectre – Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 19:01) The Captain had found the First Officer's report on Audrey most interesting, what surprised him though was how forthcoming the woman apparently was. This was, after all, a woman that had taken allegience to the side of Admiral Doenitz during the civil war, their paths had crossed before and not in a good way, now she had stormed the ship with intentions of murdering everyone on board. Well, everyone apart from Commander Williams of course! The 'Board' interested the Captain intensely, a mysterious and secret group apparently working from within Starfleet command, and with the sole objective of destabilizing it from the inside. It would not be the first time that something like that had happened of course, it probably wouldn't be the last either, for as sure as Humans were Humans, and despite their advances, it was still in their nature to become devious when, and as the need suited them. For now though, trust would have to remain paramount, tinged though with just a little room for leeway either side. =/\=Tolqu to T’Vhor I am sending you the science departments update now for your review=/\= The communication had broken the Captain from his thoughts, Tolqu and Hightower had been busy working together over the results of the Vedea IV incident, it seemed that they had now reached some sort of a conclusion on that. "Thank you Mr Tolqu, I will review it shortly", said the Captain. (Reply Tolqu, IYW) "I understand that the Dauntless is requesting further information on the attacks and the variables that surround it. If you are able, you may beam over to the Dauntless to brief their CSO", said the Captain. "Ensign Hightower can assist is she wishes" (Reply Tolqu) "Very well, please do not hesitate to keep me informed of proceedings.... bridge out", said the Captain, who then stood from his chair to make his way to his ready room. "You have the bridge Lieutenant Simmons, any further developments, you know where I am", he said and then disappeared into his room. (Reply Tolqu, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Dauntless - Sickbay - FO, Williams - 19:05) "We'd better get back to help our poor EMH, care to work with me?" Andrew nodded to Freeman as he finished the last of the water. “Lead the way. No rest for the ever weary.” He said with a slight smile as he followed Freeman to their next patient. (Reply Freeman IYW) (Reply Freeman, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Captain's Ready Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 19:06) The face upon the monitor bore the starkness of one intensely worried about recent proceedings. Admiral Alexander's most pressing concern now was the safety of the immediate domain of the Sol sector, given that a ship was quite possibly in the area in the guise of something less than what it actually was of course. The Admiral ran a hand through his greying hair, his brow furrowed. =/\=...and the Dauntless Captain, what is her current status?=/\= T'Vhor quirked his head slightly, and then answered the Admiral query. "On the whole sir, she is fine. I have sent some of our engineers, medics and science officers over to assist. Her sickbay is currently overwhelmed and the more serious casualties are being beamed over to the Spectre for attention", said the Captain. Alexander simply nodded his assent, then he returned to the question of their snake in the grass. =/\=I have looked over the data concerning classified projects running during the Doenitz years.... it doesn't look good. If there is indeed an ETHOS vessel out there it's going to be hard to detect, after all, it's designed that way=/\= The Captain nodded again. "But not impossible sir, the ship has it's limitations... It is not invulnerable", said the Captain. Alexander allowed himself a smile at that, it was good to see optimism in the face of difficulty. =/\=It sounds as though you may have a plan Captain, would you care to impart that to me=/\= he asked, hopefully. "Indeed", said the Captain taking a sip of the fresh orange juice he had recently partaken of. "It is logical to assume that we can now rule out the Spectre as it's probable guise, we can also rule out all other Spectre class vessels. My assumption is that she will adopt something less conspicuous now, a freighter again perhaps", he added. The Admiral nodded in agreeance and then bade him continue. "Our vessel is probably a modified Akira class vessel, it does not have a cloak as this would negate it's holo-emmiter projection capabilites. My guess is that we will be looking for something around the same size, this then rules out fifty six percent of the possible vessels known to be in the area", said the Captain. "I would suggest that we verify all fleet positions and cast a logical assumption on the distances they might travel within a given time, therefore, anything arriving in the Sol sector that cannot possibly be there will probably be our target", he added. Alexander nodded again, then he threw another variable into the mix. =/\=And what if our snake chooses to adopt the guise of a non starfleet vessel, we can't exactly be asking the Romulans or the Klingons for their individual placement of vessels now can we.... likewise, we cannot verify all commercial ships either=/\= T'Vhor nodded in agreeance. It was indeed a valid point that he to had taken stock of, what they were looking for here though was a minimalisation of the possibilities, if they could get the figures down considerably, then they would not have to waste time looking unnecessarily at vessels that warranted no attention. "Agreed", said the Captain, "perhaps the vessels goal might provide us with more clues", he added, pausing then to ponder the possibilities. "Are there any important dignitories travelling from the Sol system that forces loyal to the old regime might take interest in?", he asked. Alexander allowed himself another laugh at that, it was typical though of a Vulcan to look at every single option. =/\=About fifteen or so I would say=/\= said the Admiral. =/\=Important people are coming and going all the time, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack=/\= The Captain had to concur... "Nevertheless, their target is the key. I would suggest that all non essential movements of VIP personnel is curtailed as of now, the less viable targets we have moving around, the more likely we are to spot anything out of the ordinary homing in upon one of them", said T'Vhor. Alexander nodded his approval of that and motioned that it would be put in place, then he returned to the matter of the Dauntless. =/\=A ship is en route to assist the Dauntless Captain, the moment you have reached a point where they are self sustainable, you are to move out and head for the Sol sector, I want the Spectre here when that damned thing turns up=/\= "Understood sir", said the Captain, knowing as he had spoken that this now provided the possibility for the ETHOS vessel to once again assume the identity of the Spectre in order to confuse matters further. He raised this with Alexander, who agreed but maintained his previous order, then he signed off, thus returning the Captain monitor to it's previous appearance showing the familiar crest of Starfleet.... "Thank you Mr Tolqu, I will review it shortly", “Aye Aye Captain.” Teverine nodded his approval to Hightower their hard work was worth it and he felt relieved to have it done, he sorely needed food and rest and his mind almost felt numb from lack of some good protein and a solid hot drink of tea to calm his nerves and body. "I understand that the Dauntless is requesting further information on the attacks and the variables that surround it. If you are able, you may beam over to the Dauntless to brief their CSO", said the Captain. "Ensign Hightower can assist is she wishes" His data padd chimed as T’Vhor sent him all updated information on the recent happenings, glancing at it he raised an eyebrow at the mention of a holo-ship and passed the Padd to Hightower. “Yes Captain, Hightower and I will head to the Dauntless after we grab some quick refreshments.” "Very well, please do not hesitate to keep me informed of proceedings.... bridge out" “Aye Aye Captain.” Rolling his eyes in mock displeasure, he smiled thinly at Hightower. “No rest for the wicked let’s grab some food and get over to the Dauntless they need to hear this information.” (Reply None) (Posted by Peter Richards) (USS Dauntless - Captain's ready Room - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 19:12) Bruce had 'enjoyed' his chat with the Dauntless CO, in truth he had expected a veritable showdown and indeed, to begin with it had been just that. In the end though it seemed that they shared a commonality, not only in their appreciation of ancient weaponary, but also in junior officers having idea's above their stations so to speak. The Flintlock musket was indeed a treasure to behold and by simply holding within his grip, he had been transported to a time when the raw sinew of war was exposed like torn flesh for all to see. Not at all like todays clinical and sterile 'phaze into molecule' type conflicts. The issue of the Dauntless' attack had been suitably agreed upon, it was clearly NOT the Spectre's doings and Carlin-Lave had softened appreciatedly. It was then though that the Spectre's CO came on the line with further orders. Kowalski duly answered his comms. "Go ahead Captain", he said. =/\=Major, I trust that matters have now been succesfully dealt with on the Dauntless, regarding the Spectre's involvement?=/\= asked T'Vhor. "For sure", said the Major with a nod, we've been discussing flintlock muskets" Kowalski could see T'Vhors eyebrow raise at that, even though that was quite impossible of course but the resultant pause spoke volumes. =/\=Indeed.... I want you to return to the Trojan once you are ready, head out and take point once again. It is unlikely that the ETHOS vessel is still int he area but it is better to be safe than to be sorry=/\= said the Captain. "Better to be safe than sorry Captain, no need for the second 'to be'...", said Kowalski with a smile. "But yes, I'll get back now..." =/\=Very good Major, Specte out=/\= The channel then closed and the Major stood, extending his hand towards Carlin-Lave as he did so. "It was good to talk Captain", he said shaking the Captain hand now, "perhaps I shall one day have the chance to see the musket fired", he added with a laugh. (Reply Carlin-Lave, IYW) The Major then turned about and headed out to collect Houseman on the Dauntless' bridge, hoping as he did so that the man had managed to keep himself out of trouble... "Nothing to report sir, everything is as it was before you left", came the reply from Simmons, who by now had retaken his position at TAC 2. "Very good Lieutenant, we have a vessel en route to our position, it's ETA is approximately One hour and twenty minutes.... I want you to inform me the moment that it comes into sensor range", said the Captain. "Aye sir", said Simmons as he returned his attention to his console accordingly. The Captain then opened a channel to sickbay. "Captain to sickbay" (Reply Any in Sickbay) "How is Commander Williams sister doing?", asked the Captain, still considering now the possibility of a future mind meld and the statement that Audrey had made regarding the 'protection' she had instigated to protect her from that. (Reply Any in Sickbay, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Dauntless – Bridge – ACSO Ensign Teverine Tolqu – 19:20) Teverine almost felt like he had indigestion, usually he liked to take his time over his food and savour his meal, but time had been pressed and at least it gave him and Hightower time to read over all the recent information gained from everything aboard the Spectre. Being trapped in the laboratory had lead to a certain lack of information being passed his way. Walking to the Commanding Officer of the bridge with Hightower just a step behind he handed over the PADD and explaining everything that had transpired. Ranging into detail about the holo-ship and how it had hoodwinked them all. “This information has just come to us and I think if we could take a look at your computers, Hightower and I might be able to deduce a way of tracking this ship or at least being able to tell us from the Doppelganger.” Brielfy looking at Hightower for confirmation.
