"... if it comes to that." Andrew grinned “We definitely need as much cover as possinble.” "Though we've already seen my precise skill with a phaser." Said Palmer as he gestured to the door. “Well mine is not exactly sniper level eather.” "Right, it's settled then." Palmer slowly lifted the woozy Ferengi up right. “We can swap over when you want.” Andrew moved towards the door with his phaser ready. "And maybe we will find an abandoned hover-stretcher on the way." Kurt grinned. Andrew smiled. “It will be the first thing that I look out for.” (Reply Palmer) Andrew moved out of the room into the corridor with his phaser out sweeping the corridor. ~Okay nothing here. At the moment~ “We clear let’s get out of here.” (Reply Palmer) Andrew moved off down the corridor trying to cover every corner as they headed for the docking bay “I am so not a marine.” (Reply Palmer IYW) (Reply, Palmer, Any) (Post by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Crew Mess - CSO LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:39) Kurt grinned back "shall we?" He gestured to the deconstructed door. “We clear let’s get out of here.” The doctor said, leading the way. "Agreed." Kurt wedged his rifle under his free arm. Dr. Williams made what Kurt saw as an impressive attempt to sweep the corridor and keep an eye out around every corner. “I am so not a marine.” He admitted. "I don't believe either of us are doctor." Kurt grinned, trailing close behind. "Which is clearly why we were both put in a separate group." (Reply, Williams) They moved through the junction through which they passed earlier, and rounded the corner. "So far so good" the science chief said in a hushed voice. "The docking bay should just be a few more meters up." (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Corridor – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:43) "I don't believe either of us are doctor." "Which is clearly why we were both put in a separate group." Andrew grinned as he glanced over at Palmer carrying the Farengi. “Look at how well that’s been going for us.” Andrew scanned the corridor as they move back the way that they had come. "So far so good" "The docking bay should just be a few more meters up." Andrew paused for a moment and nodded. “I hope that nothing creepy will be in there.” He glanced around the corridor before moving back to Palmer. “Kurt, I can take him for a bit.” (Reply Palmer) He moved the Ferengi into his shoulders and realised that he was heavier then he seemed. “Your turn to play marine” (Reply Palmer) He looked along the corridor. “Pity we can’t pass by a sickbay.” (Reply Palmer) “May be there is something we can use in the docking bay an Stallion Class Marine Drop-Shuttle with one of those Field Hospital modules or a starship?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - corridor - CSO LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:45) “Kurt, I can take him for a bit.” Dr Williams said. The science chief nodded as they traded the Ferengi. As the literal weight was lifted from his shoulders Kurt once more readied his phaser rifle and tricorder. “Your turn to play marine” said the doctor. Kurt smirked. “Pity we can’t pass by a sickbay.” "I believe it was really only one deck down." He paused as they continued walking. "But that would be too much of a detour." “Maybe there is something we can use in the docking bay an Stallion Class Marine Drop-Shuttle with one of those Field Hospital modules or a starship?” The doctor added. "Well" Kurt said as they rounded another corner. "I guess we will find out in a moment. He nodded towards the large docking bay doors. (Reply, Williams) He hurried ahead. Though it seemed the tricorder interference was leveling off, there didn't seem to be any immediate threat on the other side of the door. Kurt snapped the device back back on his belt freeing a second hand for his weapon. "I'll go first I guess, as I'm the marine now." He grinned as he moved to shelter himself behind the door frame. Kurt punched the controls. The doors slid open with a loud whirr. The science chief drew in a deep breath. A metallic clank told him they had opened completely - he quickly spun, weapon drawn, to survey the room. The docking control room looked out over a huge space teeming with any imaginable small space craft. Kurt bounded forward into the dimly lit room. His glance darted from corner to corner. "All clear doctor." He called back. (Reply, Williams) Lowering his weapon he moved to the inventory controls. Kurt clicked through to see if there would be anything of use to them. "I don't see any medical crafts in here..." Kurt paused as he looked through the last few items. "Though why they keep 19 runabouts on a starbase is beyond me." (Reply, Williams) "Wait.." The science chief looked up and turned. "They usually keep med kits around here." (Reply, Williams) He walked down a couple feet glancing over the bulkhead on the other side of the room. "Here" Kurt moved closer. A couple of built in storage compartments were inconspicuously placed in a row. The science chief read through the label, and opened one of the compartments. "Bingo." He said as he opened the appropriate the compartment. (Reply, Williams) Kurt hoisted a very large container out of storage, and moved it to a nearby surface. (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 – docking port - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:49) "All clear doctor." Andrew nodded as he carried the farengi. He watched as Palmer began to search the inventory. ~I hope that he finds something useful~ "I don't see any medical crafts in here..." "Though why they keep 19 runabouts on a starbase is beyond me." Andrew smiled. “I guess there are a lot of people who like to mess around in boats.” "Wait..". "They usually keep med kits around here." “Good. You grab that and I will fund a place to out our heavy friend down.” Andrew moved the Farengi on to maintenance work bench that was on one side of the docking bay. "Bingo." “It’s good to know that logistics works.” Palmer hoisted a very large container out of storage, and moved it to a nearby surface. Andrew opened it and began to search through its contense as he grabbed the things that he needed. He gave the Farengi a quick scan with his tricorder. “Okay so he is still alive which is a good things.” (Reply Palmer) “His blood pressure is a bit low and he has a high heart rate.” He picked up a hypospray and injected the farengi with a couple of viles and stepped back. “I hope that this should keep him a bit more stable for a while.” (Reply Palmer) “What’s you thoughts now?” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer, any) (Post by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Docking Port - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 15:52) “Okay so he is still alive which is a good thing." The doctor said examining their patient. "And what's the bad news?" Kurt replied back. “His blood pressure is a bit low and he has a high heart rate.” Williams said picking up a hypospray. “I hope that this should keep him a bit more stable for a while.” "It would just be nice if he could support his own weight!" Kurt grinned. “What’s you thoughts now?” The science chief glanced over to a nearby control panel to check the time. "Well, I'd say we're on a bit of a time crunch. We probably need to keep moving." (Reply, Williams, any) ((Post by Cody)) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Deck 14 - Docking Port – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 15:55) Andrew watched as Palmer glanced over at a nearby control panel before speaking. "Well, I'd say we're on a bit of a time crunch. We probably need to keep moving." Andrew nodded before looking around. “It’s a pity that we can’t just take one of these and get back to the Spectre.” (Reply Palmer IYW) He stepped over to a console which was beside Palmer and entered a few commands bringing up and inventory list. “You know we could just borrow one. There is the Rome no one would know we were gone.” (Reply Palmer) He gave a sigh and smiled. “Well yes there is the others and they would not be very happy. It’s just that this place is creepy. I can’t wait to get out of here.” (Reply Palmer) (Reply, Palmer any) (Post by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Bridge - CPO Jordan – 16:01) “Sir I can’t bypass it from here. I need get off the bridge and do a manual shut down of the impulse engines.” CPO Brian Jordan was at the Engineering two station at the back of the bridge. He was an older gentleman later 30's been around the block, but a talented Enlisted engineer with a knack for what makes ships go zoom. As he heard the Lieutenants plea to leave the bridge and deal with the impulse engines, he couldn't help but feel like he needed to go along. Besides he considered the impluse engines his babies. "Sir," he said as he made his way to the front of the bridge. "Permission to accompany Lt. Smith on this endevaor. Nobody on the bridge knows those engines like I do. And since currently the Chief Engineer is acting first officer and can't accompany Lt. Smith, sir I respectuflly request to take your place and help out." (reply Remae) "Aye sir," he then turned to the Lt. "Ma'am, shall we be underway" (Reply Smith) (reply Smith, Remae, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Bridge - FO, Lt Commander Remae Ktell – 16:02) The ship was now speeding headlong on a set course to who knew where, and whilst the astronavigation system could identify the route itself with ease, nobody could possibly have known where on that route their hijackers were going, or indeed where they might likely stop. “Sir I can’t bypass it from here. I need get off the bridge and do a manual shut down of the impulse engines.”, cried Jordan, an enlisted man stationed at one of the engineering consoles. Everyone, including Jordan of course was still reeling from what had occurred and the previous announcements from the Ferengi DaiMon regarding their apparent inability to stop them grated on their nerves and frustrated them no end. Remae himself was torn between his need to be in engineering and being on the bridge in command, and whilst Jordan's response was understandable, it was unlikely that the impulse drive would be able to be taken offline with the battle bridge having locked out changes. It was clear that the Ferengi had obviously studied the ship well. Indeed, the entire situation may well have been planned many days beforehand, the prize of a phase cloaked vessel clearly a most desirable one to Sulia and her cohorts. Nevertheless, Jordan moved towards the centre chair to request leave of the bridge. Smith had been ordered to engineering, and he himself felt that he would be better suited accompanying the Lieutenant than standing there watching figures on a bridge console. Remae nodded. "Of course. I suspect that the Ferengi will have made some attempt to prevent us from regaining control via engineering but, it's worth a try", he added. (Reply Jordan, IYW) Both engineers then left the bridge to at least attempt their plan... (Reply Jordan, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Bridge - Pilot Officer, 2nd Liutenant Jennifer Smith – 16:03) "Ma'am, shall we be underway" Jennifer looked at the CPO who had joined her as she headed for the turbolift. She took a moment before she remembered his name. “Not a problem Chief more the merrier.” (Reply Jordan IYW) She stepped into the tubolift and requested deck seven. “My idea was to get to Impulse Engine control on deck seven and go for a manual shut down. Unless you can think of something else?” (Reply Jordan) “I just hope we have not go to warp before we get there. Other wise things will get a lot more complicated.” (Reply Jordan) (Reply Jordan, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Turbolift – CPO Jordan – 16:05) “My idea was to get to Impulse Engine control on deck seven and go for a manual shut down. Unless you can think of something else?” "That in theory should work. It would cause a full stop, but inertial dampeners should make it less choppy" “I just hope we have not go to warp before we get there. Other wise things will get a lot more complicated.” "Right, but there is a way we could fudge the systems, and somehow start the impulse engines while at warp. Like a jump start. Then safety protocols would be in effect." (Reply Smith) "Like when a fresh ensign tries to activate impulse before dropping out of warp. The Impulse activation would then cause a deactivation of the warp drive so that the two systems dont conflict. To prevent both systemes from acting simulataneously." (reply Smith) "However, its a one shot, they could reactivate warp and we may not be able to reproduce the technique, it is kind of difficult remotely." (reply Smith) "Have you ever tried to hotwire an old car?" (reply Smith, any) (posted by WB) (USS Spectre – Deck 13 - Security Station Foxtrot – 1st LT Reed - 16:06) "O'Hara, Houseman, wait up." Reed was sprinting up to them as the Red Alert was going off. Roger had been busy enjoying an off moment in his day. He had just gone of duty as he came barreling down the hall he was zipping up his uniform. (Reply' O'Hara, Houseman) "I'm assuming you guys are going to try and secure the decks right. Listen, I need you guys to form up with me. We need to make sure we secure engineering, protect the officers there. If we can, maybe they can take the warp core offline and find a way to get the ship back under control, but if we lose engineering, that job just got a whole lot harder. I don't want to make this an order. So are you with me?" (reply O'Hara, Houseman) (reply O'Hara, Houseman, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Deck 13 - Security Station Foxtrot – Marine Demolitions Expert, Cpl, Lewis O'Hara - 16:07) "O'Hara, Houseman, wait up.", came a cry from behind, and instantly the two Marines halted and turned foot to spy 1st Lieutenant Reed bringing up their rear with haste. So much haste in fact that he appeared to still be in the state of dressing. "1st Lieutenant", said Lewis, acknowledging the man accordingly... "I'm assuming you guys are going to try and secure the decks right.", began Reed. "Listen, I need you guys to form up with me. We need to make sure we secure engineering, protect the officers there. If we can, maybe they can take the warp core offline and find a way to get the ship back under control, but if we lose engineering, that job just got a whole lot harder. I don't want to make this an order. So are you with me?" O'Hara looked to Houseman, whom he assumed would not be averse to Reed's request regardless of his rank. Then he turned his attention back to the 1st Lieutenant. "An order, Sir?", said Lewis. "No need, we're with you. Engineering it is" (Reply Reed, IYW) (Reply Reed, Houseman, IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Deck 13 - Security Station Foxtrot – Marine Sniper, Cpl Houseman - 16:08) "O'Hara, Houseman, wait up." Houseman slowed and looked behind him as he saw Lieutenant Reed hurrying up behind him. "1st Lieutenant" Houseman nodded as O’Hara acknowledged the Lieutenant. "I'm assuming you guys are going to try and secure the decks right.” "Listen, I need you guys to form up with me. We need to make sure we secure engineering, protect the officers there. If we can, maybe they can take the warp core offline and find a way to get the ship back under control, but if we lose engineering, that job just got a whole lot harder. I don't want to make this an order. So are you with me?" O'Hara looked at him as he nodded his acknowledgement. "An order, Sir?" "No need, we're with you. Engineering it is" (Reply Reed, IYW) Houseman but the phaser rifle to his shoulder and took point. If their luck held out they would be in engineering soon and get those Farengi off the ship. (Reply Reed, O’Hara, any) (Posted by Robbie) (Starbase 39-Sierra - Communications Center - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 16:08) Michael was about to continue the investigation into the holograms with Lieutenant Smith when Lieutenant Kerge came into the room, informing the occupants of the Spectre's disappearance. Michael turned round. If someone had stolen their ship then things were definately bad. He went over the hologram logs, incase one had slipped past him. ~Ok. All holograms are definitely offline, must be the Ferengi.~ Distracted by this turn of events, he almost did not catch Kerge's motion for Michael and Lieutenant Smith to follow. Transferring the final data to the console ensign Alexander was working at, he grabbed his weapon from the side and followed Smith. ~Could've definitely used BETH's help in this situation.~ (Reply none, any) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Spectre – Deck 13 - Security Station Foxtrot – 1st LT Roger Reed - 16:09) "No need, we're with you. Engineering it is" "That is good. But we need to come with a sound plan before me muck something up." Roger, though normally foolhardy had recently been trying to think of ways to impress the Marine higher ups on the Spectre. The oldest male in his family had all made colonel in the Marines, from his father, to his grandfather, to his great grandfather, going back centuries. He felt pressure, as his father's oldest child to keep that tradition alive, the sooner the better and what better way then by recovering the Spectre. "Now, this may be a bit of a gamble, but perhaps it may be beneficial, if we come up into engineering from below. Deck 14 holds the Phase Cloak, so I am sure it will be guarded, but if we take the jeffries tubes on 15 or 16, up to deck 12, we might be able to get you a sniper position Houseman. Once we are in position, the O'Hara you and I can sweep in with Houseman providing cover." (reply Houseman, O'Hara iyw) "Perhaps, we could rig an explosive or decoy on the other side of engineering where they would expect resistance, and once it goes off we will be able to sweep around and flank them." (Reply Houseman, O'Hara) "It may not be the best plan, but it is what comes to mind. I'm open to suggestions. Preferably one that doesn't get anyone killed." (reply Houseman, O'Hara) (reply Houseman, O'Hara, any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Rome - Bridge - Ops, Ensign Will Alexander - 16:30) It was a relatively uneventful trip to the USS Rome. They encountered no resistance, save a few jumps and scares due to shadows around corners and unexplainable sounds. There was a sense of urgency buzzing around the Spectre away team. Their ship had been hijacked destination unknown and they would need to borrow the Rome in attempts to chase her down. Her bridge was the standard Defiant class bridge, singular captains chair, helm at the front, and the rest of the stations spread throughout consoles on the side. As the away team entered the bridge, here lights were dim, she was on low power mode. From what will read in the manifest, the Rome was assigned to the Station as an escort for official federation cargo vessels and was used rather frequently, though for some reason she hadn't left on a cruise in a month. Still if she could be brought up the speed, she had the fire power and maneuverability to slow down the Spectre. If they could find her. Will moved quickly to the console attached to the captains chair and plugged in his decryption device. Within a matter of seconds, the lights turned on, power was at optimal and the ship was ready to go. "I was able to get the encryption codes off of the comm history before we made our trek down here. All systems are unlocked and at your service sir." (reply T'Vhor) "Also I set the codes to the docking bay doors are set, once we are ready to go, the ship will send the code to the docking bay control center and it should open automatically." (reply T'Vhor) "I looked at what need to be brought online on the ship before we left the comms center, weapons are active, but the warp core needs some work, she currently can't go passed warp 7, but I think I can fix the problem and get her up to 9 for at least a solid 15 to 20 minutes. Not sure though, I did will in my engineering course at the academy but I was better at Operations and Transporter tech then warp cores and impulse engines." (Reply T'Vhor) "It might also be prudent sir, if I am not overstepping my bounds, to have a team work on creating a tachyon detection device to locate the cloacked spectre. If we can get the ship underway in the next half hour, we could follow tachyon residue to at least get a course bearing on where she went sir, but maybe if we rigged a torpedo to act as a sort of tachyon finding depth charge if we get near by the Spectre, could help us locate her. Might be a good task for Sorenson and Palmer, maybe even the good doctor. He has experience in deep space search." (Reply T'Vhor) Will then turned to the three officers he recommended for torpedo doctoring duty. "Alright, guys, the captain is ok with it, the torpedo compliment should be fully stocked, should find everything you need there and in the science lab." (reply Williams, Palmer, Sorensen) "I could also use some help in engineering if you are willing to lend a hand sir. I read your bio when I sort of woke up, get a feel for who I was serving under. I know it says you have a degree in computer science, could be useful. With your help we may be able to get the Rome underway in 20 minutes" (Reply T'Vhor) (Reply T'Vhor, Palmer, Sorensen, Williams) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Rome - Bridge - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 16:32) Michael looked around the bridge of the starship. He had never spent time on a defiant class before, and was really enjoying the tightness of the bridge. He had never really liked giant open bridges anyway. The smaller bridge of the tactical starship relaxed Michael, made him feel more in control of the situation. The conversation between the Captain and ensign Alexander caught Michael's attention. Something about rigging up one of the Rome's torpedoes to create a tachyon detecter. This device would help them locate their misplaced starship. Will then turned to the three officers he recommended for torpedo doctoring duty. "Alright, guys, the captain is ok with it, the torpedo compliment should be fully stocked, should find everything you need there and in the science lab. Michael nodded. "Understood, sir, I'm sure we can MacGyver a working device." (Reply Alexander) He downloaded the torpedo probe specifications onto a PADD and handed it to the doctor. "Well doc, your patient will see you now." (Reply Williams) (Reply Alexander, Williams) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Rome - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:33) Upon their arrival aboard the Rome, things were pretty much as expected for a ship on standby. The bridge was subdued, her consoles active but in a quiescent state displaying routine information on the ships status. Alexander had been his usual efficient self in obtaining the various codes that were needed to enable those systems and with the CO on the deck and having entered his command identification into the computer, everything was all but ready to go. The Captain took the centre chair and then nodded to Alexander. The man was due a commendation that much was for sure, and a rank increase to go with it for the work he had done in bringing everything to bear, the final statement in his report registering in the Captains mind as an eagerness to begin became paramount. "....All systems are unlocked and at your service sir." "Very good, Ensign", said the Captain as he ran his fingers across the tactical armrest console built into the command chair to verify certain points. Looking around, he glanced at the rest of the team already manning their relevant stations. Kerge was at the primary tactical console and Sorenson was now on TAC 2, whilst Palmer was seated at the Science console. Alexander then spoke again, briefing the CO on the fact that the space doors 'should' receive codes automatically upon their transit and open accordingly. The Captain pondered that briefly. If they didn't open then they'd surely know about it, that was for sure... T'Vhor acknowledged the announcement and then queried their operational readiness, engineering already showing that it was not at 100% on his console. "I looked at what needed to be brought online on the ship before we left the comms center, weapons are active, but the warp core needs some work, she currently can't go past warp 7, but I think I can fix the problem and get her up to 9 for at least a solid 15 to 20 minutes. Not sure though, I did well in my engineering course at the academy but I was better at Operations and Transporter tech than warp cores and impulse engines.", said the Ensign. "Make it a priority Ensign", said the Captain. "I don't want to be losing the Spectre again once we finally catch up with her" (Reply Alexander, IYW) Alexander then suggested modifying a torpedo to detect Tachyon particles, which although a long shot considering the fact that the Spectres phased cloak was rigged to reduce detectable particles to an absolute minimum, it seemed a prudent suggestion nonetheless. "Agreed", said the Captain. "The Rome, as a Defiant Class vessel will carry class 9 Torpedo probe variants which will require less modification of the active sensors. These will up our ante considerably", he added. (Reply Alexander) Will then got everyone mobilised before turning once more to the Captain, a pertinent question in readiness... "I could also use some help in engineering if you are willing to lend a hand sir. I read your bio when I sort of woke up, get a feel for who I was serving under. I know it says you have a degree in computer science, could be useful. With your help we may be able to get the Rome underway in 20 minutes" Once again, the suggestion made sense and the Captain was certainly not the type to just sit around waiting for others to get things done. Time was of the essence of course, and a possible reduction in their launch time was not to be sneezed at. "Consider me already there", said the Captain, standing then to accompany Will, who seemed just as eager to find their ship, the fact that he had blamed himself for not spotting the signs of her hijack earlier clearly still playing on his mind. "Don't worry, Ensign. We'll have our ship back soon enough", said the Captain... (Reply Alexander, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Bridge - CSO, LT.jg Kurt Palmer – 16:35) Ensign Alexander spoke with the Captain as the tiny Defiant bridge teemed with activity. In the short time they had been off the Spectre it seemed it had been hijacked, and now the away team had to find their way back home. "Alright, guys," Alexander started as he addressed the group. "the captain is ok with it, the torpedo compliment should be fully stocked, should find everything you need there and in the science lab" "Understood, sir, I'm sure we can MacGyver a working device." Ensign Sorenson agreed , he turned and handed a torpedo schematic to the doctor. "Well doc, your patient will see you now." “At least it will be more cooperative then our last patient.” Williams replied As he glanced at Kurt. Kurt chuckled. "As long as we don't have to cart this one across an entire starbase." (Reply, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Rome - Bridge – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 16:38) The bridge of the Rome was busy even with their small crew compliment it seemed crowded. It had been a long time since he had spent time in a Defiant class starship but is was just as he remembered it. Alexander and the Captain were talking as he got his bearings. He watched as Alexander came over to them. "Alright, guys, the captain is ok with it, the torpedo compliment should be fully stocked, should find everything you need there and in the science lab. "Understood, sir, I'm sure we can MacGyver a working device." Said Sorenson as he downloaded the torpedo probe specifications onto a PADD and handed it to him. "Well doc, your patient will see you now." Andrew smiled as he looked over the information on the PADD. “At least it will be more cooperative then our last patient.” He said as he smiled at Palmer. (Reply Palmer, Sorenson) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 16:40) Michael circled the torpedo they had moved into cargo bay 2. They somehow had to turn this weapon into a detection device. And that means not exploding. To ensure safety of the device the warhead would need to be removed. "Ok, Doctor, you should be able to see the warhead amongst the panelling." (Reply Williams) "Yes, that would be it, hold it steady please." He turned round. "Lieutenant, how are you doing with that device?" (Reply Palmer) While the doctor and Michael were tinkering with the torpedo, Lieutenant Palmer had been rigging up the device they would use to detect the Spectre. "Understood, we're only going to get one shot at this." (Reply Palmer) Michael turned back to the doctor, arms deep in the torpedo. "How's it going doc?" (Reply Williams) (Reply Williams, Palmer) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Rome - Holodeck 1 - BETH - 16:40) For a hologram BETH didn't like goodbyes, it was weird. She shouldn't have feelings, or emotions, not real ones anyways, but she was both aware of her status as a hologram, and yet, felt as though her emotions were totally real. She was said to see Alexander and Sorensen go, they had treated her like a sentient being, a live being, not a hologram. She felt, for the first time, if holograms could feel true emotions, like she had friends. Yet in what felt like mere moments, she was "awake" again. This time the program seemed to be that of a large Astrometrics room, with star charts and maps. It showed the positioning of a Defiant class ship at the Starbase, and what looked to be the possible routes taken by a Spectre class ship. It was as if the room was set to track them. It was a hologram program, yet set to function like the real deal. She curiously approached the console, there was a note with instructions. She read it out loud to herself. "BETH, so, we hijacked you from the Starbase systems. Don't be mad, I just, well, I don't know why I did it. I scrubbed your program clean of any sort of interference from the Starbase or outside programming updates or changes that could happen by outside forces. You are free to be you. Anyways, I set this program up on the fly. Haven't even told the Captain yet. We are about to chase down a stolen Federation ship by the conspirators that attacked the Starbase. We are kind of short staffed. Thought you can help. Should be self explanatory. Once we get moving, we'll get you up to speed. If you don't want to help, please turn off the program. We could use the power. I promise that when this is over to find a way to make you more mobile more often. Something tells me you are more than a normal hologram. I'll be in touch, Ensign Will Alexander." ~Odd,~ thought the hologram. ~I've never been kidnapped before. But I guess I should help.~ (reply none) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Rome - Main Engineering - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 16:40) The Defiant class main engineering was rather small compared to larger Starships, including the Spectre. But that was ok, since right now, other than the help from the Captain, the engineering team basically consisted in Will, and Will wasn't an engineer. Though not because he didn't have an app for it. While it was true he spent a good junk of his career studying astro navigation, operations, and other course setting on a path as an ops officer, it still required a good number of engineering course. Not only that, his Propulsions Mechanics professor tried to convince him to switch majors as Will had one of the top scores in the class. Instead being good in Propulsion mechanics made will want to focus more on the helm then being an engineer. But he good get the job done. Especially considering he had studied a lot over the last few weeks getting himself up to speed technologically from what he missed when his memory pattern was accidently created and stored in 2406. Being down in engineering with the captain also gave him a good time to have one on one time with Captain T'Vhor something he had not had since his memory pattern was merged with the body of Will Frost. In a way it was awkward, the original Will Alexander, Will Prime, the one who made it back from the Phantom served with T'Vhor when T'Vhor was first officer of the Spectre shortly after the Phantom mission during the Federation Civil war. Will Prime then served under T'Vhor as Helmsman and then Strategic Operations officer after Will Prime's stint as First Officer of the USS Dennison, with T'Vhor serving as Captain. There was a level of trust that Will could see that the captain had for the original Will, considering T'Vhor let Will Prime lead a mission into the heart of a Borg ship to recover a borg central plexus. It was sort of intimidating then serving under T'Vhor knowing that the Captain knew the orginal, the one who got the glory, had the career and became a captain. Will Second, Will Alexander, the one standing in the Rome Engineering room, he was just an ensign, a transporter accident. But that didn't bother him, not as much anymore. He was free. He had a new lease on life. Will had just met a hologram who exhibited almost sentient, non programmed emotions and behaviors, and she, she could be shut off with a command. Will was allowed to live, to breath, he was flesh and blood, and he was going to earn his keep. Will quickly went to a console and began the warp core and propulsion systems initialization protocol. "Sir, warp core is coming online, we should be able to clear Space Dock in 10 minutes." (reply T'Vhor) Will then began running a scan to determine the problem on why they couldn't go past warp 7. "Sir, the problem seems to be with the plasma conduits. There just doesn't seem to be enough electro plasma being generated to get the warp core up past warp 7. We could do warp 7 all day. But there just seems to be something in the routing mechanism, that not enough is being funneled through the EPS conduits to give maximal warp. Since this ship doesn't do much more than short range escorts, it probably wasn't high on the list of repair priorities." (reply T'Vhor) "However, there may be a more permanent solution, and temporary one. The permanent is I need to get to the plasma coils, identify the issue and see if I can fix it with the material on hand, but that could take more time then we have. That is something I can work on in transit." (Reply T'Vhor) "The temporary solution is not too bad. See the problem is with electro plasma flow, which is sent out and powers the systems of the ships. If we can identify areas of the ship we don't need, and reroute the electro plasma from those systems to the warp core, it should be able to give us warp 9 for an extended time. We run the issue though, that we might tax the plasma flow with the extra surge, so we can't run it that way permanently, if the slow done has something to do with minor leak, or flow issues. Increasing the flow will allow more plasma to go through, but in the end, even that will get exhausted." (reply T'Vhor) "We will need to identify systems that are non essential that we can do without, and then reroute power from there, like the holodeck, replicators, showers, etc. The more systems we shut down and reroute power, the longer we should be able to maintain top speed. But we also run the risk of possibly draining power from essential systems that are on similar circuits, so we are going to need to identify those." (reply T'Vhor) Before they got started though, Will paused for a moment. "Sir, I have to ask, it's been on my mind. The other me. The Will Alexander that materialized after the mission on the USS Phantom, who served on the Spectre twice, once with you while you were First Officer, and then as Commanding Officer. Did you know him well?" (reply T'Vhor) (Reply T'Vhor) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Rome - Main Engineering - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:42) It had been a while since the Captain had gotten his hands dirty at the propulsion end of a starship, and whilst his experience in regards the finer points of the science itself were still fresh in his mind, he would have to admit to a certain haze in regards the mechanics of it all. ~If only Remae were here~ he thought, the Bajoran being one of the best engineers he had ever seen aboard a Federation vessel with the exception of the Andorian H'Chir. Then of course there was Bates, an awkward man but one that T'Vhor would trust to get the job done in anything. Neither of course were available to them right now so it looked like it was going to be just Alexander and himself, the former already in the process of accessing the engineering console and initialising the core. "Sir, warp core is coming online, we should be able to clear Space Dock in 10 minutes.", said the Ensign. 10 minutes? It was getting better by the minute... The Captain moved to access a nearby console and then began running calculations on the intermix protocols to try and identify the problems that were restricting them to warp 7. It seemed odd in the extreme... "Sir, the problem seems to be with the plasma conduits...", began Alexander, before continuing on to explain that the routing mechanism was restricting throughput in some way, and that the he would need to address the issue on site so to speak rather than from a console. Ensign Alexander came up with many suggestions as to how to deal with the problem, including attending to it en route and on the fly once they had departed, but something still wasn't sitting right with the Captain who pondered the suggestions briefly. Will had mentioned a restriction, and he had further insinuated that perhaps it was just something that the base crew had neglected to prioritise in the repairs manifest, but another posibility had begun to formulate within the Captains mind as Alexander went on to mention shutting down some of their least critical systems in order to increase their speed accordingly. The Captain nodded. It seemed feasible of course, but the restriction of throughput still bothered him more than it perhaps should have done. What if this wasn't a repair derailment at all? What if it had been a deliberate attempt to hinder? The Captain took a breath and then verbalised his thoughts accordingly... "The Ferengi managed to board our ship and take it from under our noses", he began. "It would make sense that they would assume that we would give chase, and that we would choose a ship with the capability of fast pursuit", he added, pausing then to consider the ramifications of that. "What if the routing mechanism were being restricted due to sabotage?", he offered, letting Will offer his own input on the matter now. (Reply Alexander) NRPG: Room for more here... RPG: Ensign Alexander then paused, something clearly on his mind. "Sir, I have to ask, it's been on my mind. The other me. The Will Alexander that materialized after the mission on the USS Phantom, who served on the Spectre twice, once with you while you were First Officer, and then as Commanding Officer. Did you know him well?", he asked. T'Vhor raised an eyebrow at that. The query seemed to have come from nowhere and as such, it had obviously been on the young officers mind for some time. It made sense of course, Two persona's, or Katra's even within One body. It could not have been an easy situation or transition for the man. "I knew him well enough", answered the Captain. "By all accounts a fine command officer and a worthy friend", he added. "Why do you ask?" (Reply Alexander) (Posted by Alan) (USS Rome - Main Engineering - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 16:43) "What if the routing mechanism were being restricted due to sabotage?", he offered, letting Will offer his own input on the matter now. "That would make sense sir. But I don't know if we'd be able to detect that, and the damage by a mere system scan." (Reply T'Vhor) "It would probably be best however if we don't divert power to the routing mechanism just in case. There could be other booby traps along the way." (Reply T'Vhor) "The easiest way to asses the damage would be to look at the plasma coils themselves, and investigate the system from the ground up, off console. But I think that can wait til we are in route. I'd hate to delay us." (Reply T'Vhor) "Though I am starting to wonder if this is the only surprise for us." (Reply T'Vhor) NRPG: Room for more here... "Why do you ask?" "It's been on my mind ever since I ran across one of the Emergency Tactical Holograms sir. She seemed trapped, like her mind was developed past just being a program, and made me think of my own reality." (reply T'Vhor) "There is a very real fear that no matter what I do, I have to compare to the general article. In less than six months from the Academy he was the Spectre Second Officer, in less than a year he was First Officer of the Dennison, in less than three Commanding Officer of the Mithrandir, both A and B. Sir how do you measure up to yourself?" (Reply T'Vhor) "And am I going to react in the same way as him, would I have done everything exactly as him. Our minds are identical. Up to a certain point. Would I have done everything the same, made every choice. Am I just a carbon copy?" (reply T'Vhor) "Experiences matter, I know, it is what made the transporter duplicate of Will Riker join the Maquis. How do I live up to a captain, how do I live up to the fact I've techincally achieved so much?" (Reply T'Vhor) (Reply T'Vhor) (Posted by WIll) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 16:43) Andrew looked at the torpedo that was in front of him. ~I really hope that this thing does not explode~ "Ok, Doctor, you should be able to see the warhead amongst the panelling." Andrew looked at where he was indicated and then carefully prised it open. “This one?” "Yes, that would be it, hold it steady please." ~Coz I am so not going to drop it~ "Lieutenant, how are you doing with that device?" (Reply Palmer) "Understood, we're only going to get one shot at this." (Reply Palmer) "How's it going doc?" By this time Andrew was arms deep in the torpedo housing with his hands around the war head. “Just give me a moment.” He muttered to himself as his finger slipped. “I would rather do an emergency C-section on a pregnant Gorn and those little blighters can bite.” (Reply Palmer, Sorenson IYW) He felt something click in the warhead. “There got it.” As he carefully extracted the warhead safety devise or no safety device he was not taking any chances. “Where do you want it?” (Reply Palmer, Sorenson) (Reply Sorenson, Palmer, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Rome - Cargo Bay 2 - TAC/ASC, Ensign Michael Sorenson - 16:46) Michael watched as the doctor performed a rather unorthadox surgery. "I would rather do an emergency C-section on a pregnant Gorn and those little blighters can bite." Despite the situation, Michael found himself smiling. It was good of the doctor to keep the situation light, especially with a live torpedo in front of them. "There got it." Michael audibly sighed with relief. That was the tricky bit done. With the warhead removed it would be a lot easier to complete their task. "Where do you want it?" The doctor asked. Michael knelt down beside him. "I'll take that and put it to the side. Good work doc. Looks like the patient will live." The implication of that statement hung in the air as Michael slowly stood with the warhead. (Reply Williams) "Now we need to figure out a way to integrate a sensor packet into the torpedo, allowing us to use it as a probe. This is where the Lieutenant works his magic." (Reply Palmer) "That's fine, we don't want to make any mistakes, we can proceed when you're ready." Michael tapped his combadge. "Ensign Sorenson to the Captain. Sir, we have disabled the warhead and are preparing to modify the device. Lieutenant Palmer needs a few minutes to finish up."
