She knew instantly that this was a woman to be very wary off. Not just the fact the she was a Betaziod, she also appeared to be calm, confidant and un-phased by the chaos that surrounded them as well as the way she carried her self. She forced her mind away and replaced it with what Amy would be feeling like she had been trained to do. She knew that Kirien was not supposed to read her thoughts but she had not survived all those missions on what people were supposed to do. "Lt, tell me what happened?" Audrey watched as Kirien ran the tricorder over Bates’s wrist. She realised that might be the time to get away from Bates. “Sir’s if it is okay with both of you. If you will both excuse me I have work to get back to.” (Reply Kirien, Bates) (Reply Kirien, Bates, Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – Engineering Crewman, Lt (JG) Norman Bates - 13:54) Bates had continued to observe the female crewman the entire time he was with her, he still couldn't quite get an angle on what she was up to at the moment, but the Bates radar was going into overdrive and he had learned pretty early on in life not to ignore it when it did so. Some might have called that a sixth sense, Norman preferred to feel that he was just more special than most. Upon entry into sickbay a Doctor he immediately recognized as Dr Kirien, approached them both and then introduced herself, more so to Bruce than himself. This in itself seemed odd to Norman, if Bruce was indeed who she said she was, wouldn't the medical staff have come into contact with her already? "I'm Dr. Kirien, one of the assistants.”, she had said, and Norman immediately smiled his usual awkward smile in her direction. "Lt, tell me what happened?", she asked, seeing already that he was holding his right wrist as though in some degree of pain. Bates tore his attention from Bruce, who seemed a tad unnnerved right now. "Excuse me?", he said, turning towards the Doctor again. Kirien simply smiled and then activated her tricorder to run it over Bates wrist, at which he winced, not so much in pain but over the fact the tricorder would no doubt pick up that his wrist was entirely undamaged and therefore reveal his ruse! (Reply Kirien, IYW) Either way, Bruce seemed to have found an opening there and immediately made good her excuses to leave, clearly eager to be on her way again. "Sir's, if it is okay with both of you. If you will both excuse me I have work to get back to.”, she said, already moving away from them both as she spoke. Bates raised his eyebrows in surprise, knowing of course that if she went now, he would probably not be able to pick her up again! "But...", he exclaimed, clawing into his own hollow thoughts now to find a reason for her to have to stay, then he followed with some hairbrained excuse that may, or may not work. "But the Doctor might need an explanation as to what happened, there will be logs to fill in", he said, looking to Kirien now as though hoping that she would back him up on that. (Reply Kirien) (Posted by Alan) (SS Barwon - Cockpit - Counsellor Nico Tchaikovsky - 14:31) As the communication ended, Nico began moving the shuttle. "Just moving us out of range," he said to Teverine. "Have you had any luck with the Zero Point energy effect?" (Reply Tolqu) Nico nodded. "Well, just let me know if I can help in any way," he said, although he was fairly certain that Teverine knew by now that the hard sciences weren't really Nico's thing. "In the mean time, I'll take a look at how the Vedeans are processing our information on the smugglers." He managed to patch into the Vedean government computers and was granted access to the investigation file. It seemed that the Vedeans had moved in on Belakor and a number of other minor bureaucrats who had set up the smuggling ring. A cursory glance over the proceedings convinced Nico that the process was working. He didn't doubt a good result, but figured it may have been the tip of a proverbial iceberg. The Spectre seemed to be moving, he noticed. His console lit up with a number of warnings about the Zero Point energy spirals. He checked the position of the shuttle again and shot a look across to the hard-working Tev. He sure was a hard worker, Nico thought. After checking the status of the smugglers, the distance between the Barwon and the energy field, Nico turned his attention to the faint signature left by what was presumably the attacking vessel. The Barwon's computers had isolated the residue but they'd need the powerful computers and sensors of the Spectre to mark out a more solid path. Nico figured that would be the ship's next step - get out of the oceans and back into orbit, say sayonara to the Vedeans, and then pursue whoever, or whatever, had blindsided them. It wasn't every day that a Federation ship was ambushed, and even less often that a ship was sent crashing into a planet. On a professional level, Nico was hoping to get on board the ship and into the medical wing where he could hopefully do some good alongside the other counsellors. From earlier reports there were some injuries, and Nico knew that the trauma of being shot down and then almost breached by marauders, was cause for concern. He also guessed that there may have been the opportunity to question the invaders, but since they had been transported to secure Vedean facilities, Nico figured that the Vedeans themselves would do the majority of the interrogation. Still, Nico thought it was likely that at some point, the Spectre's team would need to face them, if only to gather more information on the attack. He sat at the console and waited. Suddenly there was a beep from the comm system. =/\=Bridge to engineering,=/\= the voice of Captain T'Vhor came over the speakers. Adams pushed a button which opened up the communication channel. "Engineering here," he stated not taking his eyes off of the instrument panel. =/\=We are due to break surface in three minutes and forty two second Lieutenant,=/\= explained the captain. =/\= It would seem that once we do we will continue on up into the air. I need to know now if you envisage any problems with our current rate of ascent either in a fluid environment, or an air environment?=/\= "No problems, sir," responded the engineer. "There will be some initial resistance when we break the surface of the water, but the Spectre should be able to handle the stress. As we start to ascend into the upper atmosphere I should start to get a sense if the force fields which are plugging up the small cracks in the infrastructure are going to hold. I'll let you know if we hit any problems. Once we reach 500 kilometers, we will disengage the zero point device and start up the impulse engines. I will contact as we approach that distance." =/\=Understood, please keep me informed.=/\= The captain closed the communication channel. (Reply None) (Posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Bridge, Tactical – Security Officer Jo Smith - 14:32) "How are we doing Lieutenant?", he asked. ”Nearly there sir. Everything looks good from my end.” "Distance to the surface?", he enquired. ”2000 meters. We will surface in under four minutes.” "Bridge to engineering", said the Captain. Jo returned to her console as the Captain talked to engineering. Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Main Engineering - ACEO, Lt JG Christopher Adams - 14:36) The tension among the crew in engineering was increasing once the ship broke the surface of the water. The whole ship started to shake and there were a few sparks popping out of panels and some of the plasma conduits overloaded. Adams kept his eyes on the instrument panel. A warning klaxon went off. "Warning," came the voice of the computer. "Hull stress in exceeding specified tolerance levels." Adams pushed a button which silenced the warning. "Durgil," said Adams looking over his shoulder. "Watch the structrual integrity field. Let me know if it exceeds 80 million kilodynes. We may have to abort. We are almost there..." (reply Durgil) The ship continued to shake as the ship reached 450 kilometers. "Toran," said Adams. "Get ready to disengage the zero point device on my mark." (reply Toran) "460 kilomenters," said Adams touching the button to open the comm channel to the bridge. "Engineering to Bridge." (reply T'Vhor) "We have almost reach orbital height," responded the engineer. "We need the helm to plot a standard orbit and when I give the go ahead, engage the impulse engines at one quarter impulse power." (reply T'Vhor) "Standby...490 kilometers....495 kilometers....500 kilometers. Toran, disengage the zero point device." (reply Toran) There was a sudden sense of weightlessness as the ship's ascent came to a halt. "Now, bridge," said Adams. "Engage the impulse drives." Everyone jerked a little as the ship's power took back control of the ship. The Spectre was back in orbit once again. (reply T'Vhor) "Thank your, Captain. We couldn't have done it without our Vedean friends." Adams closed the communication channel. "Good work everyone," stated Adams to the crew as there were a few cheers going through Engineering. "Durgil, lead up a group to run a level two diagnostic on the structural integrity. I'll start the warp engine boot up sequence. And, Toran, my many thanks. I had my doubts, but your device worked like a charm. Thank you." Adams bowed his head to the Vedean engineer while a few of the engineers started to clap and cheer. (reply Durgil, T'Vhor, Toran, any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Main Engineering - ACEO, Ensign Durgil - 14:37) For the past few minutes, the rumble throughout the ship had been unnerving to Aldlar, despite his knowing that it was a good thing. With all the dependencies, it was hard for Aldlar to be optimistic, but he could contain his concern. The shuddering of the rising ship continued, and Aldlar kept noting specific damage incidents in the backlog. [[Warning, Hull stress in exceeding specified tolerance levels]] Aldlar watched as Adam's turned off the notification, then looked back at Aldlar over his shoulder. 'Durgil, Watch the structrual integrity field. Let me know if it exceeds 80 million kilodynes. We may have to abort. We are almost there...' "Yes sir. Now reading at 70 Million." Aldlar remained quiet as the chief engineer made the necessary orders. The readout rose steadily, getting nearer and nearer to the danger point. As the readout began to display a value of 77 million kilodynes, Aldlar could feel gravity seem to stop working on the ship for a short while, hearing the orders to engage impulse. Despite force from the Zero-point device no longer effecting the ship, The readout continued to rise as inertia took it's toll, although slower. A jerk could be felt through the ship as impulse engines took control, the readout slowing down before stopping at 78.5. 'Good work everyone.' A few cheers rose from the people in engineering. Aldlar didn't join in, a feeling of fatigue taking over now that the largest problem had been dealt with. However, it wouldn't be enough to get him to stop working. At leas,t not yet... 'Durgil, lead up a group to run a level two diagnostic on the structural integrity. I'll start the warp engine boot up sequence.' Durgil nodded before leaving the lieutenant with the Vedeans. A diagnostic... Finally some more normal engineering work. (Reply, Any) (Posted by: John) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 14:37) Suddenly, the alerts began sounding on the bridge to the accompaniment of vibrations and the voice of the computer to back them all up. [[Warning.... hull stress is exceeding specified tolerance levels]] This was not the best news the Captain wanted to be hearing right now and he wasted no time at all in immediately contacting Engineering to see what was happening. "Captain to Engineering", he urged, and a crewman other than Lieutenant Adams responded with a sharp, =/\=We're onto it sir, the Lieutenant has it covered=/\= "Is the Lieutenant looking at a shut down of the Vedean device?", asked the Captain, concerned now that all they had attained thus far may have to be abandoned. A momentary pause followed and then the crewman reported back. =/\=No sir, we have hit the first marker only, hull stresses are raised but are at present, still non critical=/\= "Very well", said the Captain, "let me know the moment anything changes for the worse" =/\=Aye sir, Lieutenant Adams and Ensign Durgil are working on the hull stress problem as we speak, Engineering out=/\= T'Vhor then addressed the Helm once more. "Helmsman, can we adjust for the stress factors in order to minimise them by handing over the thrusters to computer control?", he asked. (Reply Smith) "Then do so please", said the Captain, and the Helmsman immediately got to work on precisely that as the ship continued to rise through the air at an increasing rate, marked off as it did so by the navigators vocal alerts until the ship passed four hundred and sixty kilometres, wherapons Lieutenant Adams himself called the bridge directly. =/\=Engineering to Bridge=/\= "Go ahead Lieutenant", said the Captain. =/\=We have almost reached orbital height......We need the helm to plot a standard orbit and when I give the go ahead, engage the impulse engines at one quarter impulse power=/\= The Captain agreed and then gave a quick nod to the Helmsman once again, knowing that she had heard the recommendation herself. (Reply Smith, IYW) =/\=Standby...490 kilometers....495 kilometers....500 kilometers. Toran, disengage the zero point device=/\= Clearly, the Engineer had now addressed the Vedean and the ship shook just a little as the energy device relinquished it's upwards thrust and the ship became still and at the mercy of gravity once more. =/\=Now, bridge.... Engage the impulse drives=/\= "You heard the man", said the Captain, directing the unspoken order to the Helm. (Reply Smith) The ship then shifted just slightly, the power indicators rising now on the thruster readouts as the wide arc of Vedea IV skewed into the correct position once again. This then stabilised to indicate that the ship had become capable of holding it's orbit on it's own power alone. The entire bridge seemed to breath a sigh of relief at that, the Captain himself settling back into his chair with an almost 'Human' content... He then addressed Lieutenant Adams once more. "Good work Lieutenant, I must confess that the sight of space in our viewscreen again instead of water, is a cause of much relief on the bridge" =/\=Thank you Captain. We couldn't have done it without our Vedean friends=/\= The Comms then closed as Engineering prepared for warp core initialization and restart, whilst the Captain asked for operational reports from all bridge officers, followed by shipwide status updates and damage reports from all decks and departments. Toran, disengage the zero point device=/\= =/\=Now, bridge.... Engage the impulse drives=/\= "You heard the man", said the Captain, directing the unspoken order to the Helm. ”Yes Sir. Engaging at one quarters impulse power.” She entered the command and felt the ship shift as the engines powered them forward. ~Come on. You can do it~ She caringly soothed the spectre in to a parking orbit. She leaned back in her chair and gave a soft sigh. ~Yes baby you did it~ "Good work Lieutenant, I must confess that the sight of space in our viewscreen again instead of water, is a cause of much relief on the bridge" =/\=Thank you Captain. We couldn't have done it without our Vedean friends=/\= (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Science Officer, Ensign (JG) Tabitha Hightower - 14:39) =/\=Thank you Captain. We couldn't have done it without our Vedean friends=/\= With that the captain began asking for status reports from the bridge officers. Tabitha was quick to respond. “Sir, we have main sensor pallets back at seventy five percent. Once the warp core comes back online we should be at full sensor capabilities; that is if the main deflector was not damaged in our assent from the Vedean Oceans.” (Reply T’Vhor) Tabitha nodded, “Aye sir, I will have a status report to you as soon as engineering is finished with their diagnosis of the structural integrity fields.” (Reply T’Vhor) (Reply Any on the bridge) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - ACMO, Ensign (JG) Mitchell Huval, MD - 14:40) Mitch looked up from where he had braced for the breach. Leaving the ocean was definitely kinder to sickbay than entering them. Standing next to Lieutenant H’Chir’s bedside Mitch turned to look at Sickbay. There, one of the relief doctors was tending to a crewman and nurses were prepping the dispensary, otherwise there was very little activity. Mitch looked down at Lieutenant H’Chir. He pulled back his hypo and stuck the engineer in the neck. Slowly the man came out of his sleep. Mitch turned his Tricorder’s sensor fob to pen light mode and opened H’Chir’s right eye, then the left, shinning the light to check his iris’s response. The man began to stir. “Mr. H’Chir, don’t get up. You need to remain lying down.” (Reply H’Chir) “No, you suffered a head injury and we were forced into emergency surgery. You should be fine for now but we’re keeping you here.” (Reply H’Chir) Mitch looked down at his shoes; this was always the hard part. “Sir, it is a miracle you’re going to be able to walk. How you managed to work for as long as you did is a miracle of medical science.” (Reply H’Chir) “Sir, I regret to inform you that due to the severity of your injuries and the amount of therapy you will need I have no choice but to relieve you of your duties.” (Reply H’Chir, any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 14:40) The first announcement had just come in from Ensign Hightower at Science One, sensor pallets were at seventy five percent of optimal and would rise to their operational level once the warp core was back online, the only proviso being in regards the deflector dish's current state, which may, or may not have been damaged during the ships ascent. "Can we get an accurate assessment on the deflector dish now?", asked the Captain. "Aye sir, I will have a status report to you as soon as engineering is finished with their diagnosis of the structural integrity fields", answered hightower. "Ensure that you do please", said the Captain, turning his attention thence towards the First Officer. "Can you arrange the meeting of the senior officers for sixteen hundred hours please Commander", ordered the Captain. (Reply Williams) "I want everything on the table, full detailed logs on the attack itself, plus all sensor recordings of the event from the moment we arrived in orbit, and any relevant information that the Vedean's might hold.", said the Captain. "Also, have the shuttle dock the moment it is able to safely do so, and make sure Ensign's Tchaikovsky and Tolqu are present at the meeting", he added. (Reply Williams) The Captain then hailed the Security Chief. "Captain to Lieutenant Commander Capps" The silence that followed seemed odd, Capps was hardly the kind of officer that failed to answer promptly so the Captain called again, only to be met once again with silence. "Computer, please locate Lieutenant Commander Capps", said the Captain. [[Lieutenant Commander Capps is currently on deck six, corridor nine, subsection four]] Clearly the SEC Chief was still onboard so the computers response could only mean one of two things of course, either Capps' communicator had malfunctioned, or he was unable to answer! The Captain wasted no time in attempting to guess which applied and immediately ordered a medical team to his location, just in case. "Bridge to Sickbay", he called. Indeed, one could only speculate on how he would have acted with another species entirely playing with his engines and their associated peripherals, but the general concensus would no doubt have been that he would have thrown a blue fit... if you would pardon the pun. As it was, the Andorian was already back in the clouds again anyway, and still chasing the being that had stolen his hypospanner! Twice, he had made a grab at the ellusive tool being waved at him by the diminutive winged cherrub, and twice he had failed to retrieve it amidst a tirade of Andorian curses and insults. Upon his third attempted grab, made as the being approached for yet another taunt, H'Chir feigned disinterest to coax the thing to come closer than it had done before, and it seemed to be working... As it came closer, H'Chir sighed heavily and then allowed himself to fall backwards onto the invisible surface on which he seemed to be floating, then he put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes as though sleeping, though his antennae were wide awake of course. For a moment though, the inquisitive nature of the Engineer suddenly cut in and he began contemplating why he was, where he was. ~How am I floating here, what strange force is at work in this place?~ The place itself seemed to defy all logic and with a chuckle, he wondered how a Vulcan might deal with this complete absence of the very core of their nature. "I fear they would go completely mad", he voiced aloud, although the approaching being made no attempt to withdraw at the sudden sound of his voice, it simply advanced closer, a curious expression upon it's face now. H'Chir opened one eye and then glanced sideways surrepticiously, the thing was almost at his side now, just a few feet more and..... "Got you you insidious little shit!", he cried as he grabbed the hypospanner and then pulled it from the creatures grip. "Yes!, yes!", hollered H'Chir as he suddenly began summersaulting amidst the clouds like some demented circus performer laughing outloud. Then came a sudden jolt.... and the spanner fell from his grasp once again! "No!", he cried as a face suddenly appeared above him, was it the creature again coming in to retrieve it's prize? No, it was that damned medic again! "Mr. H’Chir, don’t get up. You need to remain lying down.", said the Doctor, H'Chir was furious of course. "I was flying you fool!", he hollered, "I HAD the hypospanner!" "No, you suffered a head injury and we were forced into emergency surgery. You should be fine for now but we’re keeping you here." H'Chir grimmaced and then the grimmace turned into a heavy frown. "What are you talking about, what has happened to me, I bashed my head and that was it", he moaned, then he again made to sit up, exclaiming that he needed to get back to Engineering as he did so. "Sir, it is a miracle you’re going to be able to walk. How you managed to work for as long as you did is a miracle of medical science.", said Huval. "It is nothing to do with medical science and everything to do with Andorian physiology... help me up, my engines are beckoning", said H'Chir stubbornly. The medic simply shook his head and placed a hand upon H'Chirs chest to prevent him from rising. "Sir, I regret to inform you that due to the severity of your injuries and the amount of therapy you will need I have no choice but to relieve you of your duties.", he said solemnly. H'Chir could not believe what he was hearing! (Reply H’Chir) “That’s correct,” Mitch nodded. (Reply H’Chir, any) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CEO, Lt H'Chir - 14:46) The expression upon the chief engineers face had suddenly changed from one of scorn to concern, it seemed that there was more to his condition than he at first felt there to be. It was true of course that the Andorian disliked medics, actually, he disliked most people preferring instead to pay his attention to inanimate, though imeasurably superior as far as he was concerned, electrical and mechanical equipment. Hardware was predictable and would conform to given parameters upon instruction to do so, as such, it was nothing at all like flesh and blood! Needless to say, on this occasion H'Chir had fallen silent as the medics words sank in. 'Relieved of duty', 'not walk for some time'... The words seemed to him to be intangible and unreal, he was a being that had survived torture at the hands of the Cardassian military for christ sakes, ok it was true that he had needed the help of his Vulcan friend to hold his thoughts in one piece afterwards, but nethertheless, he wasn't exactly fragile and he never had been! Now, it seemed that he was... H'Chir allowed the words to circle in his brain, the reply he had received in regards the Captain's wherabouts had been that he was on the bridge, where else would he be after all? The real humdinger though had been the news that T'Vhor himself had agreed with Huval's decision to relieve him, he had probably done so reluctantly but it went without saying that he would not have agreed had it not been absolutely unavoidable. H'Chir let his head slump back upon the pillow of the biobed as Huval busied himself with medical matters, none of which H'Chir particularly understood, or wished to. "So, you are saying that I am hurt badly?", said H'Chir. "That is correct", said the Doctor, somewhat Vulcan like in his delivery now. "Uh", said H'Chir with a shake of his head, "they don't teach you much in the way of bedside manners do they Doc", he stated rhetorically. (Reply Huval IYW) "How long until I can come back to duty?", asked H'Chir. (Reply Huval, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Deck 6, Corridor 9, Subsection 4 - TAC/SC Lt Cmdr Calvin Capps - 14:46) Calvin's eye's fluttered. He lifted his left hand to reach the back of his head to rub away the massive headache. During the motion, his arm hit something hard, a wall. He began to feel claustrophobic. His eye's shifted around and for the first time he realized his eye's were open but he only could see darkness. His body reacted to fight mode. As he punched and kicked furiously he knew he was only kicking the inside of some panel somewhere. Beads of sweat could be felt running down his face and Calvin could feel the wetness of his uniform from the heat. After the initial reaction he calmed down and collected his thoughts. The last thing he could remember was heading back to his room to change but then received an emergency call from Security Station Gamma on deck 6. Once he arrived at the station no one was there. That was the last thing he could remember. ~Was I attacked, is the Spectre in more danger than I thought, is there someone working on the inside?~ To many questions filled Calvin's head. He needed to relax and find a way out of his entrapment. ~My communicator!~ He maneuvered his right hand to the left side of his chest and surprisingly he felt his communicator. It didn't make sense for someone to attack him, stuff him away but not hide his where abouts by taking his communicator. He tapped it, but no connection to the Spectre initiated. He tapped it again and then a third time. All attempts came to the first result. ~Damn!~ Calvin had no way of knowing how long he had been stuck behind the panel, but he felt his breathing was becoming harder and slower. Even though he couldn't see, dizziness suddenly overcame him and nauseousness followed. He knew he was about to pass out. If he let that happen he would die. Who knows how long it would for someone to find him. He calmed himself down the best he could, but he felt his heart pumping harder and starting to pump faster. He wasn't going to make it. Then....then....then all his senses burst awake as if they were going to go out with a bang. His senses heard something, his body was reacting to a noise, a noise that could possibly save him. ~Voices?~ Calvin didn't take the time to question himself. He wanted to scream for help, he wanted to bloody scream for his life. As he prepared himself scream, he knew if the noise on the other side of the panel turned out to be nothing, he had only sped up his death. "Ahhhhhhh," he started. He knew that the word 'help' would not have been loud enough. His oxygen level did not allow him to draw in a deep enough breath. With the power he had left in his body he began to punch and kick again. "Ahhhhhhhh, HEELLPP," he screamed in terror again. Adding 'help' at the end hurt his lungs. Such a long scream took the last bit of air out of his body. His eye's rolled backwards. His body shut down, laid still and not a single movement, not a single noise was made from within the panel. H'Chir had stopped listening after the word 'years', it just did not compute in his head that he might be out of action for years! Instead, he chose to take one step back in that sentence and think of this as 'months' of inaction, then he turned his attention to the medic, Huval, who looked as though he were now waiting for an answer on something. "Umm, I'm sorry... physical therapy?", he said, thinking back to the very last words he had actually processed. "That's right", said Huval assuredly, clearly trying to give hope now that all was not lost and that things could return to normal for the chief. Then he went on about a meeting via a video link at sixteen hundred hours, pulling across a small table with a commscreen upon it as he did so. "You want me to report.... through a videolink!", exclaimed the Andorian, returning to his normal agitated self once again. The medic simply nodded his assent and then stood apparently waiting now for H'Chir's next cutting remark. H'Chir sighed and then decided that he would deny the man the satisfaction of guaging him correctly, by instead asking for some food. "You know, I could do with something to eat... do you have 'anything' decent to eat down here", he asked, "besides the usual lab specimins of course", he added. Huval didn't seem to bite and immediately said he'd find him something, then he mentioned Capps and the fact that he had to go tend him or some such thing. This was followed quickly by a warning about dizziness and euphoria, the latter raising a smile from the CEO. "Euphoria!", he exclaimed, "I don't think I'm in danger of any of that down here do you.... so what's this about Capps?", he added. (Reply Huval) H'Chir nodded and then allowed his head to settle back onto the pillow. "Well, when you find him, tell him there is a cherrub lose on the ship... and that it has my hypospanner", said H'Chir. He strolled down deck 6 and passed security station gamma when he heard horrific screams coming from within. A heightened alert triggered through his body. He spun on his left heel and quickly ran back toward the noise. The doors opened urgently. Chief Rock stepped inside surveying the room for understanding. He found Nurse Douwsy and Dr. Kirien with startled looks on their faces. He was confused by their actions. It looked like the two were hunting for the Easter egg prize. He placed his hands on his hips and with a loud voice, "What is going on here," he demanded. (reply Douwsy, Kirien) ~A scream~ He needed no further explanation and began to help look for the origin of the scream. He was not in the room when the scream bellowed so he took the wall behind the desk which had not be searched yet. There were 4 panels, which looked like the rest of the room walls, that could be taken apart. They were used to have access to conduits and other engineer parts for maintenance and repairs. Jaret flung the first panel off quickly, the second even faster, and the third panel might as well not have been there. The fourth panel dropped to the floor as a body rolled out of the wall. Instinctively the Chief caught the falling body and carefully placed it on the ground. "Nurse...Doctor," he voiced to grab his fellow searchers' attention. (reply Douwsy, Kirien) Chief Rock stayed knelt as the other two did their respected professional duties. He was shocked to realize that the man that was locked away behind the wall was his commanding officer Lt Cmdr Capps. Questions were massing in his brain, but with external and internal attacks it made sense that someone might have knocked Calvin out and then placed him into the wall where no one could find him. Something one of the medical staff said gained Jaret's attention back. "Agree, let's get him to sickbay." (Reply, Adams, Any) (Posted by: John) (USS Spectre - Main Engineering - ACEO, Lieutenant JG Christopher Adams - 15:01) With peasantries exchanged and many "thank-yous" Lieutenant Christopher Adams had just arrived back in Engineering from escorting their Vedean visitor, Toran, to the transporter room. They were in much debt to him and his people for getting the Spectre back into orbit so fast and Adams felt that Toran was the type of person who was beaming at the recognition. Now it was time to get back to business. The engineering team needed to get the warp engines back online so that they could pursue the ship that had caused the Spectre to spend the last day under water. Ensign Durgil approached Adams and explained what his engineering team had discovered about the structural integrity field. It sounds like they were okay for now. There were still many repairs to go around and we wouldn't be able to hang in a fire fight. They were going to need to start repairs immediately. "How's it going for you?" asked the ensign. "Good," responded Adams. "We are about five minutes from optimum throughput for the warp core. Once that's done I will start running a few tests to see if the warp nacelles are undamaged." "All things considered, we got off good, in my opinion," stated Durgil. "That was one issue they don't really cover in the academy. Starships going under water. In fact, it's practically the opposite effect on the ship. Underwater means more pressure, space, less. The ships are built differently, one to contain, the other to keep out the pressure." "Agreed, Aldlar," said Adams. "That was one for the record. I guess we are lucky there wasn't as much damage to the hull than there is. "Ensign, I need you to take command of engineering teams Alpha and Beta and start hull repairs immediately. I have a feeling that we are going to need the structural integrity if we find the ship that did this to us. I know there's limited things you can do from the inside of the ship, but do as much as you can to get us to 99% hull integrity." (reply Durgil) "Great. Thank you, Ensign. Don't forget to report to the Observation Lounge at 1600. The captain has called a meeting of senior staff." (reply Durgil) Adams turned back to his report that he was getting ready for the command officers as Ensign Durgil proceeded to his duties. He put in the information from Ensign Durgil about limiting warp speeds to warp 7. From his calculations they could have the hull back in shape in 48 hours if they ran double shifts for the next two days. The main deflector was damaged, but it didn't appear too bad. Adams had Engineering Team Gamma on it and they were confident that it would be operational in the next hour and a half. The lesson learned: starships were just not made to go underwater or at least this one wasn't. They were just going to have to be careful until they ship was back fully operational and that was going to be difficult until they were in dry dock and they could repair the stress fractures in the hull from the outside. The report now complete, Adams transmitted it to Ensign Hightower, the Science Officer on the bridge. She would relay the information to the other bridge officers. (reply Hightower) Glancing back over at the warp engines it appeared that they were powered up again. Adams pushed a few buttons to start sending the plasma to the warp nacelles. Everything seemed to be powering up just fine. A few more test runs on the warp integrity system and they should be good to go. The captain has called a meeting of senior staff.' "Don't worry. I'll make it while we're still in the 1500's." Although he couldn't explain it, Aldlar felt a great weight lifted off his shoulders after they had gotten out of the waters. This elation probably traveled through the whole crew to a certain degree, but there was no thought of it. Aldlar watched for a moment as Adams walked away to resume his duties before following his example himself. He tapped his badge. "Aldlar to repair teams Alpha and Beta, please report to Main Engineering." As he waited for the teams to arrive, Aldlar began to sift through the damage reports to find the ones in most need of repair, and organize them for the teams. Maybe even a shuttle to supplement.” (Reply T’Vhor) (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:06) The Captain was going over suplemental reports that had been passed on to him from the Vedean Council in regards a smuggling operation of some kind. It seemed that Tolqu and Tchaikovsky were in their good books! This though would wait for the time being, for Hightower had attracted his attention with a pertinent report. "Sir?”, she had asked. The Captain responded with a simple 'Yes Ensign' “Sir, engineering is reporting the warp core back online and beginning to stabilize. Teams are being sent to address hull stress fractures and get the main deflector back and operational. Estimated time for repairs to the hull is forty eight hours, main deflector should be back up and running at full capacity by sixteen forty.”, she had stated. "Sixteen forty?", queried the Captain, obviously having already been hoping for a sooner departure than that. Indeed, he had initially wanted them to be under way by the time of the senior staff briefing, as it was though, it could not be helped. “That’s correct sir, with the main deflector damaged, our sensors are not operating at optimum efficiency, but that should improve as soon as the dish is back up and running.” The Captain raised an eyebrow, and then accepted those facts as logical deduction. With the dish out of action, there was no way at all they could go to warp without risking a collision with something in their path, and with a ship with a less than one hundred percent efficient hull... the situation was compounded even further! "Very well, I want a dedicated team on the deflector, let's see if we can bring that time down a little", said the Captain, "in the meantime, I would like something more concrete on the trail left behind by the vessel that attacked us, like all vessels it would vent plasma... a breadcrumb trail if you like", he added, falling back once again on a human metaphor. "What can you do about detecting those breadcrumbs?" “Well sir I suggest sending out probes to check for remnants of our attacker’s trail. Maybe even a shuttle to supplement”, said Hightower. "Excellent idea Ensign", said the Captain, "the marine trojan might be a better option though, I will discuss it's use in a forwards recon role with Major Kowalski at the briefing. It looked as though everything checked out. A little cheer escaped Adams's lips. He looked over and noticed a red flashing light on his internal message system. It was a message from Ensign Hightower. Apparently Captain T'Vhor wasn't too happy with Adams's timetable for getting the deflector done. ~With the warp engines done, I supposed I could lend Gamma team a hand,~ thought Adams. We're looking at another hour tops." "Hmmm. Let me take a look at the control station." The two engineers walked over to the console in the center of the room, which overlooked a transparent wall which looked out into space. Adams ran his fingers over the controls and assessed the situation. "I think you can cut your time in half," stated the lieutenant. "I don't see how..." "We don't need a perfect job," said Adams cutting Marciano off. "We just need enough to get us going. The captain wants to pursue the people that attacked us and rightfully so. Replace relays J2 through L9 and then reroute the deflector power through those and double the strength. That should hold until you get the remaining relays in place. That will at least get us moving at warp speed." "Good idea, sir. Not sure why I didn't think of that." "Experience, Ensign. Now carry on. We need to be able to go to warp by 1600 hours." Checking the time as he stepped away from the SS Barwon, Nico realised there was twenty minutes until he and Tev were expected at the debriefing meeting. "We've got some time before the meeting," he said. "I guess you'll want to go and check on the science department, so maybe I should just check in to my room and then meet you at the meeting?" Nico's sentence ended as a question, although he hadn't meant for it to. Being on a starship as an ensign was a reality now, and glancing down at his feet he wondered how he would go at the job. (Reply: Teverine) "Okay," Nico said. He looked at the screen in the wall at his left and then navigated his way to the crew's quarters. It wasn't very difficult. The Spectre was familiar enough to him from the academy training and he figured he'd make it to the quarters and then back to the meeting with plenty of time. "Hey," he said, turning back to Teverine. "We've uploaded the data from the shuttle's sensors to the Spectre's computer, and the report we wrote on the Vedean smuggling ring. Is there anything else I should be thinking of for this meeting?" Nico hoped he hadn't forgotten anything, and he hoped Teverine would take the initiative in the actual meeting itself. Seriously, Nico was wondering about the whole ambush and secondary attack beneath the waves, and he knew he was out of his depth. He grinned to himself, at the pun in his thoughts. He stood there a moment to take a look at the small room which he knew was going to be his for the next year or so, maybe even more. The walls were smooth and adorned with two pictures. He peeked his head in and looked around at the living quarters. He saw three doors leading off to what he assumed were the sleeping areas. Satisfied, he stepped inside, checked the time and double-checked his assigned room number. This was it. "Welcome, Ensign Tchaikovsky," Nico murmured to himself and went to the first door. He pressed his hand against the release button and looked inside. Even as the door slid across he could tell it was already being used, so he quickly closed it again and tried the next one. This was the empty one. It was a good size. A bed, a table and a concealed set of shelves; as well as an en suite and a computer-generated picture frame. Nico tossed his bag on to the bed and sat down next to it, stretching his legs out. As the turbolift carried him to Deck 8, Aleks Jokic rubbed tenderly at his lower back, feeling the ridge of the support which held his back in position. The doors slipped open and he ambled out, giving a courteous nod to some engineering officers he sort-of knew. They were in a hurry, just like everyone else. Since the Spectre had crashed into the ocean, everyone had to be somewhere. Normally Aleks would be helping out as well, but he'd been battered in the landing and somehow he'd popped a disk. The doctor had given him some relief, scanned him and ordered him to his quarters to rest for 24 hours. Aleks wasn't one to complain, although he did kind of want to find out what had happened in orbit, who had attacked them, and whether there was any threat of a second attack. "Another time," he counselled himself, and pushed his hand against the console at the front of his quarters. The door slid back and Aleks found himself looking at a young man coming out of the second bedroom. For a second he thought he was in the wrong place. "G'day," the blonde-haired man said. "I'm Nico - Nico Tchaikovsky." Aleks nodded and jabbed a finger at Nico. "My room mate," he said. "I remember, but I suppose... well, since the accident..." Both men stood in the living quarters and looked around the sparse furnishings. "Welcome, anyway, good to meet you. I'm Aleks. I've been here a few months so you can, you know, ask me for advice and whatnot." Nico grinned. "Thanks," he said. "Thing is, I've got a meeting in about five minutes so I should... well..." He gestured to the door. Aleks seemed a bit deflated that Nico was leaving so soon. "Do you have to go so soon? I mean, I think I should let you in on the orientation thing." "Oh right, yeah." Aleks waved Nico to take a seat on the sofa and he sat down next to him, easing himself because of his back. "Are you okay?" Nico asked. "Just a battle wound," Aleks said slowly, wincing a little for effect. "Dislocated my disc apparently, when the ship hit the ocean. It's all a little hazy." Nico nodded and Aleks noted his eyes seemed to be probing him. And that was when he remembered who his new room mate was - a counsellor. "Right, rule one, I don't go in for all that hand-waving mumbo jumbo psycho babble, a'right? Don't try and analyse me." "Wouldn't dream of it," Nico said quickly. "But you already get regular psych evaluations on the ship, so you wouldn't really be that unfamiliar with them." Aleks paused. Was Nico poking fun at him? He noticed the smile on the young man's face. It looked friendly, but ... "Rule two, food prep and general cleanliness - has to be a top priority. No messes." "Got it," Nico said, and Aleks was grateful that he had cleaned things up the night before. He picked up a zine-padd which was on the table and slid it beside him on the sofa out of sight. "And no pets." Nico shrugged. "I don't think I've got time for pets," he said. "'llergic, you see? Can't stand animals, so just a warning." Nico nodded again and clasped his hands together, looking down. Aleks noticed that Nico was young, athletic-looking and not bad in the looks department. Aleks immediately felt disappointed. "Oh yeah, and you need to give plenty of warning to the other person if you're bringing home company." "Huh?" "You know, 'bros before hoes' ." Nico shook his head, confused, so Aleks did some kind of gesture which seemed to make the newcomer even more confused. "Girls, Nico, girls. If you're bringing someone back, let the rest of us know before you get here. Embarrassing otherwise." "Oh... er, right." There was an awkward silence. "So..." Nico started. "Are you seeing someone?" "Yeah, mate, yeah," Aleks said quickly, flustered. "Pretty good, yeah. What about you? Anyone special?" Aleks asked, leaning forward. "Nah," Nico said simply. "Nah, me either." A second awkward silence fell. "Well, I'd better get to the meeting," Nico said, standing up and straightening his uniform. "Better not be late for the captain." Aleks nodded and smiled, giving Nico the thumbs up. "Good luck, roomie." Nico smiled at the door. "Yeah, I'll catch up with you later." And then he was gone. Aleks shifted his weight on the sofa and looked around the room. It already looked different. He hoped Nico wasn't going to ruin his good thing. It'd been over a month since he'd been sharing a berth and he liked his space. "Twenty-four hours..." he murmured, wondering what he could do with himself while the back healed. He shrugged and called to the computer. "Play a vid, random selection from personal archive," he said, and relaxed back into the sofa as the lights dimmed. (Reply: None) (Posted by Ben) (USS Spectre - Deck 8 Crew Quarters - OPS Officer, Ensign (JG) Aleks Jokic - 15:56) The vids were repeats from Aleks' collection and his mind started wandering only five minutes into the story. His back was numb, thanks to the medication, but the lacerations on his neck were a little itchy. His fingers rubbed against them and he completely lost track of the storyline. With a grunt he pulled himself back to a standing position and walked towards the replicator, but as he did, he passed Nico's room. The new room mate had only been gone a few minutes, but already Aleks was wondering what his story was... where did he come from? What personality would he be showing? So far he seemed okay enough, although he was probably too polite to show his real face at the start. Aleks sighed. And he was better looking than Aleks, so that was a minus. His hand reached out and touched the door, sliding open even as Aleks had second thoughts about taking a look. Nico hadn't programmed the door yet, or didn't care about locking it. Not that Aleks was snooping or anything, just passing. He poked his head inside and looked around. Nothing much had changed except for the sling bag on the bed. Nico travelled light. Aleks saw one of his old magpadds on the small shelf that had been revealed (normally they'd be hidden until used, so Nico must have checke dit out). Since the magpadd was his, Aleks felt he should probably go and retrieve it. He stepped inside and walked to the shelf, swiped the padd and then looked down at the bed with the bag. "No, no," he said softly, and then sat down on the bed and opened the latch. "Not a good idea, Aleks..." Inside the bag was a smaller wallet with ID and a collection of tech which looked like textpadds. The ID showed that Nico was born on Typhon in the Vega system. Aleks hadn't been there, but it didn't sound very exciting - not like on Earth. There wasn't really anything interesting about Nico in his bag at all. Reluctantly, Aleks closed the bag and stood up, his back feeling better already. He sauntered back to the living area and sat down, flipping forward to the good parts of the film. The ship was capable of warp seven and they would have to take it easy over the next couple of days until the engineering crew could shore up the hull. Lieutenant Christopher Adams walked into the Observation Lounge, PADD in hand ready to review the repair schedule with the senior staff. It turns out he was the first to arrive. Adams stood looking out one of the large windows at the planet below, hands clasped behind his back. It looked very peaceful. A mix of blue and white from the giant planetary ocean and the clouds circling over the planet surface. His thoughts wandered over all the events of the day. In a span of five hours the Spectre had been attacked, fallen out of the sky, sunk to the bottom of the ocean, and risen once again into orbit. Even though it was a few hours, it seemed like months had gone by. He thought of his fallen comrades, especially Chief Engineer H'Chir. He was really anxious to find out his condition and he was hopeful he would be proud of the job the Spectre's engineering crew had done in his absence to get the ship back into orbit. I guess Adams would know more when Doctor Huval arrived at the meeting. (reply any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 15:57) The Captain had been deep in a report as he walked into the observation lounge, having just handed off the bridge to Lieutenant Simmons. Simmons had simply nodded to the accompaniment of a short, sharp 'aye sir', and then he had taken the centre chair as both Williams and the Captain headed out. The reports were duly discussed en route, the Captain remarking on Lieutenant Adams' quick thinking that had bought them valuable time, thus ensuring that the pursuit of the hostile vessel could begin very shortly. Williams himself, had already passed on his report of course, and T'Vhor had noted with interest the details of the events that had played out in orbit, immediately after his own beamout. Given those details, he now had his own views on what had actually attacked them and more so, how they had managed to get away with it, these though would wait until all were assembled in the Obs lounge so that a fully detailed briefing could take place that was based on all of the facts, and that included everyones input. Entering into the room itself, the Captain immediately espied Lieutenant Adams standing at the viewing port, seemingly deep in thought over the planet below him and momentarily detached from his entrance. "Lieutenant", said the Captain, attracting the mans attention. (Reply Adams) "Indeed", said the Captain as he quickly took his seat at the table and then motioned to Adams to join him and the First officer, who had taken the seat next to him. (Reply Adams) "I would like to congratulate you and your team on solving the deflector dish situation Lieutenant, I am sure that Lieutenant H'Chir would like to offer his congratulations also", said the Captain. (Reply Adams) "I am afraid that Mr H'Chir cannot be with us right now", said the Captain, "his injuries are such that I have had to concur with Doctor Huval's recommendation that he be relieved of duty as of now", he added, his tone typical of one of Vulcan blood in that he seemed unmoved by those facts. If the truth were to be known though, T'Vhor had not enjoyed having to make that decision, however, as always... it was the logical one to make. (Reply Adams) "As of this moment, I would like you to assume the acting Chief of Engineering role until further notice.... with a rank upgrade to senior grade of course", said T'Vhor. (Reply Adams) "Mr H'Chir would trust no other than yourself with his engines Lieutenant... I am not incliined to disagree with him on that matter", said the Captain stoicly, just as more officers began to arrive through the door for the imminent briefing. (Reply Adams, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - ACEO, Ensign (jg) Aldlar Durgil - 15:58) Aldlar entered the lounge with a smile on his face. The PADD in his hand denoted a job well done, the repair teams having been able not only to repair the structural systems to the utmost of their abilities, but also having reworked the power distribution to add extra power to the SIF, deflection shields, and warp systems. The restriction of warp 7 wasn't an issue anymore. They could safely hit 8, maybe 8.5 in a pinch. ~I'm glad we could salvage those power relays. Without them, we'd have been hard pressed to get the SIF operational at warp 7...~ Aldlar took a seat, waiting for things to begin. As he waited, his mind turned from the ecstasy of a job well done to more sober matters. All the people he'd seen in sickbay, and H'chir. The updates hadn't really been paid attention to earlier, due to the fast pace of events and it not seeming as important. But now that Aldlar had the space to breath and think, they seemed more important. His face went from an overjoyed smile to a neutral, yet somewhat melancholy look. (Reply, Any) (Posted by: John) (USS Spectre - Deck 1, Observation Lounge - Lt JG Christopher Adams - 15:59) Lieutenant Christopher Adams didn't hear the captain and first officer enter the room and continued to look out the windows. "Lieutenant," stated the captain trying to get his attention. Adams turned around with a smile. "Captain. Sorry. I was just deep in thought. Almost as deep as the Spectre was an hour ago." "Indeed," responded T'Vhor with a deadpan voice that only a Vulcan could pull off. He proceeded to take a seat at the head of the table and motioned for both Adams and the Commander Williams to join him. "It's been a long day. A lot to do in a short amount of time." "I would like to congratulate you and your team on solving the deflector dish situation Lieutenant, I am sure that Lieutenant H'Chir would like to offer his congratulations also." "Thank you, sir. It was just a little inexperience, but we got through it. We should be ready for warp power at your command...Speaking of the chief engineer, will he be joining us? I have a lot to bring him up to speed..." "I am afraid that Mr H'Chir cannot be with us right now", said the Captain, "his injuries are such that I have had to concur with Doctor Huval's recommendation that he be relieved of duty as of now." There was a moment of silence as the information sunk into Adams's head. He knew it was just what it was like as life in Starfleet. Friends came and went, but this was somehow different. Next to Lieutenant Steven Matrix, the first CO he served with, Lieutenant H'Chir was one of the best engineers he had served with. "As of this moment," continued T'Vhor breaking the silence. "I would like you to assume the acting Chief of Engineering role until further notice.... with a rank upgrade to senior grade of course." "Thank you, sir," responded Adams. "I am honored by the confidence you have in me." "Mr H'Chir would trust no other than yourself with his engines Lieutenant... I am not inclined to disagree with him on that matter." "You won't be disappointed," said Adams with a nod. The doors to the observation lounge slid open and Ensign Durgil walked in with a PADD in hand and took his seat. Adams sat patiently for other members of the senior staff to arrive. (reply any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain T'Vhor - 16:01) By now, the Obs lounge had become a little more busy with the remaining senior officers having now finally arrived to take their seats at the table. The Captain had been busy going through the preliminary reports that had come through from each department, and he was begining now to formulate a working theory on exactly what had hit them and sent them to the depths of Vedea IV's ocean. The First Officer seemed pensive as he sat beside the Captain, his own reports upon the table in front of him, whilst the other officers talked amongst themselves for a short while regarding the past few hours events. Needless to say, nobody was quite sure what to make of it all, least of all the CEO, who's face now appeared upon a videolink via a remote console on the table. It was time though to bring the meeting to order and with that in mind, the Captain began in earnest. "Gentlemen, ladies", he said looking to his gathered officers, who had already fallen silent now at the sound of his voice. "I have read all of your preliminary reports with interest and studied the logs pertaining to the attack which took the Spectre out of orbit", he began, "I have also liased with the Vedean council regarding the contact itself and they have graciously supplied us with detailed information thereof. Despite the odds that were against us we now find ourselves back in orbit and in a reasonable condition... I give thanks to each and every one of you for making that a reality. Now, we have more work to do" "Upon reflection of the available facts, I believe that the ship that attacked us may have been a hybrid variant of a project shelved by Starfleet around four years or so ago... this being the ETHOS project", said the Captain, noting each officers expressions upon mention of that. (Reply Any, IYW) "This was a project borne out of conflict, it was created during our five year absence from the normal timeline as a final means to infiltrate the remaining Doenitz hardcore resistance cells scattered about the system when the regime fell... but it would seem that it has fallen into hands other than our own", said the Captain. (Reply Any, IYW) The ETHOS project itself, or Experimental Tactical Holographic Ordinance Staging, had actually been halted immediately after the war following concerns that the advantages gained by it violated certain treaties that had been in place between the Federation and the key worlds. Needless to say, those concerns were not unfounded in the slightest, for a ship so equipped would indeed be able to holographically assume any other ships identity, right down to it's registry signature! Add to that the ability to computer enhance all visual comms links during communication with other vessels, and it was not that far fetched to create a complete double of any ship you might care to copy, and thus enter seemingly legitimately into any system you might care to enter. The Captain then continued on with the briefing, inviting any now to contribute as and when they felt the need to do so, either in regards their own departmental situations, or otherwise. (Reply Any, All) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - Counsellor, Ensign (JG) Nico Tchaikovsky - 16:02) Nico found his way to the observation lounge and walked in with a security officer, although he wasn't aware of the man's name. Once inside he found a spare seat away from the immediate 'limelight' around the captain and sat down. He looked around the room for Teverine but the science officer wasn't there yet. ~Come on, Tev ~, he thought to himself, even as he smiled across at an officer in blue. ~You're the one with the expert knowledge. I'm just the new guy...~ There was a video-hook up with another officer, Nico noticed, and the thing that seemed universal amongst all of those present was a sense of urgency. Nico assumed it was because whoever had attacked them was now most likely burning a hasty retreat, possibly to attack again when the circumstances allowed. The Captain started the meeting and everyone fell silent. When Captain T'Vhor mentioned the ETHOS project, Nico found himself even more out of his comfort zone. The way the captain had mentioned it was charged with emphasis. He racked his brain trying to think of what it could mean. Ethos had been the name of a sociology magazine circulating through the academy in Paris, but somehow Nico didn't think that was what the captain was refrring to. "This was a project borne out of conflict, it was created during our five year absence from the normal timeline as a final means to infiltrate the remaining Doenitz hardcore resistance cells scattered about the system when the regime fell... but it would seem that it has fallen into hands other than our own", said the Captain. War again, Nico thought. Even though hostilities had ceased, the legacy continued. The Captain then continued on with the briefing, inviting any now to contribute as and when they felt the need to do so, either in regards their own departmental situations, or otherwise. Nico met Teverine's eyes across the table and he hoped the science officer could decipher the expression he gave: 'you give the report'. Nico was glad some other officer spoke up with their report. (Reply Teverine, Any, All) (Posted by Ben) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - TAC/SC Lt Cmdr Calvin Capps - 16:02) Calvin's lungs filled with the sweet mechanical oxygen from the ship's ventilation system and then slowly released carbon di-oxide over several seconds. Breathing was a phenomenon that he would usually overlook, but with recent events it was a pleasure that he was thankful for. The Commander's memory was still fuzzy over the details of his attack, but it seemed that any immediate danger to him had vanished. He walked into the Observation Lounge with a Counselor and took a seat somewhere in the middle. "Gentlemen, ladies", the Captain began. "I have read all of your preliminary reports with interest and studied the logs pertaining to the attack which took the Spectre out of orbit. The Chief's face created a puzzled look as he searched his memory of a project named ETHOS. Captain T'Vhor then opened the floor for departmental updates. "Sir, as you have mentioned, due to the outstanding work of the entire crew the ships tactical and defensive components are now 87 percent functional. Current outages include major weapons such as the 2nd phaser on the fore location and our secondary shielding is operating at 52 percent. Teams are currently working as we speak."
