"Okay, can I have your full name for the record." "James Mattias Guildford" James replied. "Do you have any present conditions that I should know about?" the doctor asked. "Umm.. Yes. I just got blown up. Other than that, I'm clean." James said. "Do you have any past medical history?" the doctor continued. "Nothing chronic, a few broken bones and old war wounds, they've all healed by now." James replied. "Are there any conditions in your family that I should be aware of?" he was firing the questions at him know. "No." James replied. "Have you had any sexual relations recently with a member of your or another species? Sorry, have to ask that one." the doctor said apologetically. "No, no, and not a problem." James said. "Are you allergic to anything that you know of?" The doctor asked. "Aside from bombs? No." James replied with a small smile. The doctor looked down at the PADD he had been writing on. "Okay, that looks like it. I'll leave you to get some rest." The doctor said as he turned around and headed back into his office. (Reply none) (Posted by James Dock) (USS Spectre – Sickbay – OPS Ensign Aiden Kiera – 21:00) "Something wrong?" James asked her. “No, nothing,” Kiera replied distractedly, before walking out of Sickbay, lost in her thoughts. (Reply none) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) (USS Spectre – Bridge – OPS Ensign Aiden Kiera – 21:05) The trip to the bridge was a short one, despite the distance. Turbolifts always made for short trips. Kiera didn’t care, though, as she ambled onto the bridge, now busier than when she left it. The Spectre was getting ready for departure. Kiera was still annoyed. She knew there was no way she could’ve found the device, due to the nature of it, but she still felt that she should’ve. That’s the difference between being good and ordinary. She sat down at her console, just as the door’s to the Captain’s ready room slid open and revealed a woman passing through. ~Agent Smith. Wonder what she wanted with the Captain,~ Kiera thought as she watched the SFI agent cross the bridge. Suddenly, Smith stopped and turned, heading straight for Kiera. ~Oh no,~ Kiera thought. Having a heart-to-heart with SFI was the last thing she wanted. Still, there was nothing for it but to play nice, as Smith stopped in front of the Bajoran woman. “Agent Smith,” Kiera said, deriving some satisfaction from pre-empting the other woman. “Is there something I can do for you?” (Reply Smith, Any) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Agent Smith - 21:06) Jo left the ready room much happier then when she had arrived. she glanced down at the PADD in her hand. she needed to check on some spesifics before she compiled her report. she walked over to the Bajoran Ensign who was working at the OPS station. "Agent Smith," Kiera said, "Is there something I can do for you?" "Ensign I need acsess to a work station. is it possible to use that one." she said pointing to the unused axillary science work station. (reply Kiera) Jo nodded. "Thanks you Ensign." Jo turned and went over to the workstation to begin her work. (reply Kiera, any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 13, Cloaking Device Engineering Section - Kyla Angeletti - 21:34) Angeletti had continued to work with the cloaking device, even though the Spectre had already made a safe retreat from Betazed. As her fingers skimmed over the console and tapped in various settings and information, a voice came through her commbadge. =^="M'Rurrh to Lieutenant Chenoll and Ensign Angeletti; I'd like to arrange an Engineering staff meeting once we're under way, make certain of what sort of shape we're in. When would be most convenient?"=^= Angeletti continued to work at the console, and before she could answer, she heard Chenoll chime in. =^="Well..." Chenoll paused briefly. "I assume tomorrow... 0900 hours would be fine with me, what about with you two?" =^= Chenoll asked. "That is fine by me," came Angeletti's simple reply, then she and Chenoll were silent as M'Rurrh gave her opinion. (Reply M'Rurrh) =^="Sounds good to me, see you guys bright and early. Chenoll out." =^= With that the voices from beyond the room were gone, and Angeletti was back to her work, keeping the cloaking device in tip top shape. (Reply any, none) (Posted by Sondra) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor - 22:58) With the preliminary checks now complete & all stations reporting in as ready, the Captain rested back into the command chair in preperation for their imminent departure from Starbase 375. The Spectre had of course been previously scheduled for a 22:00 hrs launch but she had been delayed due to the events around the explosion earlier. Now that the situation was completely under control however, they were now ready for a 23:00 hrs departure. "Ensign Aiden, obtain clearance from Starbase Ops to depart", said T`Vhor. (Reply Keira, Any) "Ready all stations.......all hands this is the Captain, prepare for imediate transit & departure", said T`Vhor after initiating a general shipwide communication. "Maneuvering thrusters at station keeping Mr Rodriguez, umbilical detach on my mark", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rodriguez, IYW) "Three, two, one.....mark", said T`Vhor & the Spectre promptly withdrew it`s hard links to Starbase 375, the view in the forward viewscreen shifting just slightly as she disengaged in preperation for launch. "Take us out Lieutenant, ahead one quarter impulse", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rodriguez) The Spectre then began it`s transit to the already opening spacedoors with it`s navigational perimiter beacons pulsing along it`s four quadrants. Upon reaching them the ship slid smoothly from the brightly lit confines of the Starbase & into the cold pitch blackness of space once again before then taking up a temporary holding position five thousand metres off the base. "Message coming in from Starbase 375 sir", said the Comms Officer, "Bon voyage, god speed". T`Vhor allowed himself an uncharacteristic smile at the comments from starbase, then he accessed his panel to bring up the navigational starmap. "Signal our appreciation & heartfelt thanks for their hospitality", said T`Vhor. "Conn, make your course heading one nine zero mark two four, engage at warp five", he added. (Reply Rodriguez) The Spectre then leapt to warp in a blur of blue light much to the relief of some of her crew. It was clear that a good proportion of them were glad now to be underway again, Starbase facilities were a refreshing change of course but even those paled into insignificance at times. But what of their upcoming mission? T`Vhor had already received part of their new orders of course but the remainder seemed to be positively cloaked in secrecy. He had been told to expect an update upon their journey to Pollux 5 to retrieve their new First Officer but to be honest, T`vhor never did like being kept in the dark over any mission. On this occasion however, he fell back on the old adage that he had by now come to rely upon. Time would tell & time tells no lies.... After rechecking their status on his command panel beside him however, T`Vhor stood to address the bridge crew. "There will be a senior officer mission briefing at 00:00hrs", said T`Vhor, "Hopefully we will have our full mission orders by then but for now, we have a considerable distance to travel & a shuttle to meet", he added. "Lieutenant Vasilyovna, as the ranking officer you have the bridge", said T`Vhor as he retreated to his ready room in the hope of raising Admiral LoDona for the final details of their mission. "Aye sir", said Vasilyovna as she moved to take the centre chair whilst an Ensign took over her station at tactical. (Reply Rodriguez, Keira, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) NRPG: Prepare for a timestamp jump of approximately two weeks & the start of our new mission..... (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - CO T`Vhor - 23:30) With the Spectre now well under way, T`Vhor settled into the chair in the Observation lounge with a hot cup of coffee before him as he sat going over their new mission orders. After speaking briefly once again with the Admiral on the Talons via subspace link, LoDona had now authorised the final subspace burst transmission of data that would ultimately reveal the full details of their mission, & what a mission it appeared to be. This mission was not like any they had ever undertaken before & as such, it was marked for CO`s eyes only due to the nature of it`s core objective. The crew were to know only that they were going into enemy territory to perform a search & retrieval operation of one individual, the identity of which would remain unknown to them until such time that the individual was finally brought aboard. T`Vhor disliked secrets & he liked keeping them from his crew even less. The Admiral however had been most insistent & who was T`Vhor to argue with that. Sipping at his coffee however, he placed the PADD he had been reading from onto the table, then he awaited the arrival of the senior officers in order that he could begin the briefing. (Reply Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Sickbay - CMO - Williams - Agent Smith 23:45) Andrew leaned back in his chair and placed the PADD onto the table. he picked up the cup that was beside it and took a long swig from it. he glanced up at the chronometer that was on the wall of his office. ~better get these reports finished before the meeting starts~ He picked up the PADD again and scanned down the list of names. he had gotten most of the medical reports from the crew apart from Ensign Aiden and a crew woman from Stellar Cartography. He looked up as the lights came up in sickbay. Marshal and Douwsy had left half an hour ago. he was about to get out of his seat when Jo walked in. "Hallo can I help you Agent Smith?" "No Doctor I'm fine." He noticed that she appeared a bit more relaxed and was still carrying her PADD. "I believe there is a meeting at 00.00." said Andrew trying to make small talk. Jo just nodded. Andrew glanced at the chronometer again and realised it was nearly time. "Well we better get going." he saved the data and grabbed another PADD so that he could make notes. He then go up and left sickbay with Jo following. (Reply none) (Posted by Robbie Gray) (USS Spectre - Turbolift - Kyla Angeletti - ACEO - 23:54) Kyla was surprised that she had not become bored with her work lately. When she had first come aboard the Spectre she had a tendency to become very restless with her work and found it difficult not to feel a bit down or isolated. Recently Kyla had found that she was contented in her work. The only thing that seemed to really bother her was the fact that H'Chir was gone. She had been around him most, of all the crew now missing from the Spectre, and it felt strange knowing he wasn't zipping round the ship and randomly popping in and out of Engineering. Kyla exited the lift once it's doors had slid open and headed toward the observation lounge. Her pace slowed slightly as she made her approach and walked calmy into the room. Angeletti nodded to the current occupants of the room as she took up an available seat. (Reply: none, any) (Posted by: Sondra) (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - CMO - Williams - Agent Smith- 23:55) Andrew and Jo entered the Observation lounge. They found that they were first to arrive apart from T'Vhor who was all ready seated. "Good morning Commander." said Andrew as he sat at the table. he noticed that Jo nodded at T'Vhor as she placed her self against the far wall to observe the whole room. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - CO T`Vhor - 23:56) The Commander was still perusing the mission orders when the first of the officers arrived for the briefing. The Doctor entered first, followed closely as ever by Agent Smith who imediately distanced herself from the main table by sitting against the wall with nothing but a cursory nod in his direction. "Good morning Commander." said the Doctor. "Andrew", said T`Vhor nodding in his direction & wondering wether or not his internal clock was askew or not. "If I`m not mistaken however, it is almost midnight & most definately not morning", said T`Vhor. (Reply Williams, Any) "Perhaps you need a little more rest", said T`Vhor in responce. "Is there any more word on Captain K'Tell?", said T`Vhor placing the PADD upon the table as he asked. (Reply Williams) "Understood", said T`Vhor as he allowed his mind to wander to Remae`s fate. "It is good that his prognosis is encouraging", he added as he glanced to Agent Williams where she sat unflinching in her chair against the wall like some ever present sentry. (Reply Williams, Any, ALL) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - CMO Williams - 23:57) "If I`m not mistaken however, it is almost midnight & most definately not morning", said T`Vhor. Andrew glanced at the chronometer against the wall. ~ow crap~ "Um Yes sir it is." "Perhaps you need a little more rest", said T`Vhor in responce. ~Yes like a whole month~ "Is there any more word on Captain K'Tell?", said T`Vhor placing the PADD upon the table as he asked. Andrew nodded. "Yes Sir I got a communication from the Doctor who`s care he is under. She said that he is recovering well with the treatment and will be transfered to Geneva in a few days." "Understood", said T`Vhor as he allowed his mind to wander to Remae`s fate. "It is good that his prognosis is encouraging", he added (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 23:58) Arriving promptly in the observation lounge, the security chief nodded to those officers assembled & took her usual seat next to one of the windows before speaking. "Well, it`s good to be under way again", said Yelena to nobody in particular although it was clear that the sentiment was held by all in the room. Then turning to the Doctor, she raised the subject of her injury & the fact that she had been experiencing some discomfort because of it. "It`s really just numbness", said Yelena, "I thought I would mention it as you requested me to do", she added. (Reply Williams) "I will pay you a visit later then", said the security chief as she then turned to the still silent Agent Smith. "Agent Smith, I commend you on the work you carried out in regards the explosion earlier", said Yelena. "the trace elements on the Diode did indeed prove positive & are right now being examined further as we speak", she added. (Reply Smith, Any) "I`m sure the tests will reveal more information later", said Yelena as she noted the sound of others approaching the observation lounge. (Reply Williams, Smith, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Observation lounge - CMO - Williams - Agent Smith - 23:59) Andrew nodded at Yelena's comment. she turned to him. "It`s really just numbness", said Yelena, "I thought I would mention it as you requested me to do", she added. Andrew stared blankly at her for a split second. ~numb what. ow yes~ "Miss Vasilyovna if you would like to pop into sickbay later on I'll check it over. I'm sure its nothing serious." "I will pay you a visit later then", said the security chief as she then turned to the still silent Agent Smith. "Agent Smith, I commend you on the work you carried out in regards the explosion earlier", said Yelena. "the trace elements on the Diode did indeed prove positive & are right now being examined further as we speak", she added. Jo looked at Yelena. "Thank you Lieutenant Vasilyovna. I am glad I was some help." "I`m sure the tests will reveal more information later", said Yelena Jo nodded. she hopped that there would have been some kind of trace on the device so that she could get some data on the saboteur. "Lovely hour for a meeting, isn't it?" Taxia joked. (reply any at briefing) "Computer, coffee, black, hot," Taxia commanded. The mug appeared and Taxia grabbed it and walked over to the seat next to Yelena. "I drank all my wine, like the drunkard I am, Lieutenant," Taxia said sarcastically, grinning and sipping his coffee to Yelena. (reply Vasilyovna, any) Taxia smirked and turned to Commander T'Vhor. "Commander, I'm curious, the ship is abuzz that Colonel Krige will be named our next FO... any truth to this rumor?" Taxia asked, seriously. (reply T'Vhor, Vasilyovna, all senior staff, any) (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Spectre - Observation Lounge - CO T`Vhor & TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 00.01) "Lovely hour for a meeting, isn't it?", said Taxia jokingly. T`Vhor simply turned to look at the quick witted Councellor as he walked into the room, then he glanced out of the windows into the darkness of space, filled as it was with the fast moving warp stars. "Space is as black now as it is in the morning Councellor", said T`Vhor, "however, the briefing will be over soon enough, you may get some sleep then if you wish", he added. "Computer, coffee, black, hot,", said Taxia after venturing over to the replicator before quickly returning to sit next to the security chief with a somewhat smug countenance. "I drank all my wine, like the drunkard I am, Lieutenant,", said the Councellor. Yelena raised an eyebrow at the Councellors remarks, then she turned to face him directly. "If you trully had drunk it all Mr Taxia, I doubt that you would have made it to this briefing", said Yelena casting off the mans obvious attempt at annoying her. Taxia seemed as unphazed as she though as he turned his attention then to the CO. "Commander, I'm curious, the ship is abuzz that Colonel Krige will be named our next FO... any truth to this rumor?", he asked. "If the rumour was indeed true Councellor then you would be one of the first to hear of it", said T`Vhor flatly, "as it is however, our next FO however has already been named, you will meet him after we rendevouz with his shuttle in the near future", he added. She had been running scans the whole evening, trying to ascertain if there were any more “surprises” on board. So far, she hadn’t found any, but something still niggled at her. She was sure she was missing something. Agent Smith didn’t help – she was way too secretive for Kiera’s liking, using consoles as she pleased and treating the Spectre like her own little playground. Why was she still aboard anyway? Kiera was surprised that T’Vhor would still tolerate her presence. She turned to the CO and apologised for being late. Only a few remaining officers were yet to arrive now but once they had finally filtered in through the door & everyone had settled, T`Vhor began the briefing in earnest. "I am sure that you all know that there have been many questions asked since we arrived at Starbase 375 that have not yet been answered", said T`Vhor, "why do we still retain our marine detachment for example, why is it that our new mission seems to be so shrouded in secrecy?", he added. Taxia had thought of quipping something about wearing pajamas to the meeting, making fun of the time it was being held at, but decided not to since the meeting was now underway. "I am sure that you all know that there have been many questions asked since we arrived at Starbase 375 that have not yet been answered, why do we still retain our marine detachment for example, why is it that our new mission seems to be so shrouded in secrecy?" T'Vhor asked. Taxia glanced over at Krige, who was in attendance. Taxia really didn't have a problem with the Marines, however, some of the crew he talked to, did. "No doubt you are all curious as to the nature of this mission & I`ll not waste any time getting on to this. The Spectre has been ordered by high command to engage on a single vessel search & recovery mission that is to take us directly into Romulan territory & quite possibly beyond," T'Vhor said. ~Hmmm, Romulans...~ Taxia thought to himself. He spoke up. "What are we going to recover?" Taxia asked. "Our target is a high profile individual, none of you may know of his identity at this time for security reasons but rest assured that when the time comes, you will all know of whom it is that I speak & each of you will understand why this individuals identity has been kept secret," T'Vhor explained. Kedren hobbled over to one of the display panels that showed the status of all current docked vessels, USS Spectre was not on that list. ~Gah!, I’ve missed it~ Kedren thought. “Computer, can you tell me when the USS Spectre left this station” [*chirp*..”The USS Spectre left Starbase 375 on the 18th of the 1st 2407”] ~Well I didn’t have chance there then, I hadn’t even finished my training by then~ “Computer are there any out-bound vessels that will be intercepting with the USS Spectre?” [*chirp*..”There are currently no vessels due to intercept with the USS Spectre that remain on this Starbase”] ~Okay……private hire maybe, surely there’s shuttles available for people in my situation~ “Computer, are there any shuttles that I can take to get me to the Spectre?” [*chirp*..”calculating………1 shuttle found, A shuttle has been specially designated for you please go to Terminal 5 and meet with Lietenant Daniels”] ~Ahh, so I’m expected, I guess I’d better get myself off to that shuttle!~ Kedren left Terminal 3 and made his was to Terminal 5, it was slow going, mainly due to his leg and people’s reaction to first thinking he was borg until they stopped focusing on his cybernetics and on his Starfleet uniform. After perhaps half an hour of walking he finally reached Terminal 5, Kedren looked about hoping to see the Pilot Lieutenant waiting for him, and indeed there was a small shuttle with a young looking female Human (or at least he assumed she was human). “Ah, Lietenant Daniels I assume?” “Yes Ensign Arique, you are to board as soon as possible, we have a tight schedule if we’re to rendevous with the USS Sceptre in time” she replied, obviously expecting Kedren to get himself and his baggage on board as soon as possible. “Right, okay, let’s get to it then, I have no intention of wasting any time if I can help it” “Okay, if you’ll just load your baggage onboard we’ll be off” Kedren’s baggage was made up mostly of spare parts and tools and thus was quite large and heavy, but after some small effort from the pilot and Kedren’s mechanically aided strength the luggage was put on board and the pair was off into space heading for the same interception point as another shuttle that had left a couple of days earlier. During the flight Kedren fiddled with the engines a bit, he certainly didn’t achieve the success that he did on his exam mission, but the 10 percent extra performance that he got from the shuttle ought to get him arriving shortly after the shuttle that had left before them and make the journey back to the starbase somewhat quicker for the pilot. "I have no illusions that this will be an easy task, the former presidents location is understood to be changing often, the ship he travels on changes also in an attempt to avoid his capture by forces loyal to Admiral Doenitz. There are also a number of decoys employed, two of which have already been assassinated." "There are rumors also that the president himself has already been captured by Romulan intelligence although this is at best unconfirmed & probably only adverse propaganda, we cannot however dismiss the possibility completely", said T`Vhor. Brian nodded. "Of course, the Tal Shiar loves to throw around false propaganda bombs." "First Officer on the bridge", said Yelena abruptly as everyone came too in responce. The FO seemed a little surprised at the responce but his position on the ship now commanded such respect of course & he seemed to take it in his stride as he approached Vasilyovna. "I'm Lt. Rogers. Where is the Ready Room?", said Rogers. "Imediately before you & down to the left sir", said Yelena, "the Captain is expecting you", she added. (Reply Rogers) "I see nothing wrong with humour of course Lieutenant, but it must have it`s place & that place is not neccesarily in front of your commanding officer the moment you first meet him", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rogers) "So to business, I`m assuming that you have been told nothing of our mission?", said T`Vhor as the FO shifted in his seat opposite him. (Reply Rogers) T`Vhor took a deep breath as he recalled his earlier conversations with Admiral LoDona, the Spectre`s missions were invariably unconventional of course but this one was indeed a strange one. They would be very much alone on this one what with the 52nd fleet`s denial clause should they have the misfortune to be discovered in enemy space. It had been a tough one to swallow but then that`s what the Black Ops ships did, by their very nature they were covert, everything they did was cloak & dagger & to expect anything else was to an extent, unthinkable. "Our mission is one of search & recovery Mr Rogers", said T`Vhor, "Our target is none other than Rondar Nell himself", said T`Vhor flatly. (Reply Rogers) "Our orders are to proceed to Alpha Onias III to make contact with a Bajoran transport vessel carrying one of his aides", said T`Vhor. "He will impart us with further information in regards his location & any further information we may need to complete our mission as we travel through the neutral zone & into Romulan space", he added. (Reply Rogers) "I have no illusions that this will be an easy task, the former presidents location is understood to be changing often, the ship he travels on changes also in an attempt to avoid his capture by forces loyal to Admiral Doenitz", said T`Vhor. "There are also a number of decoys employed, two of which have already been assassinated", he added. (Reply Rogers) "It`s all in here", said T`Vhor pushing a PADD across the table towards the First Officer, "Our task is to return him directly to the Steel Talons itself", said T`Vhor, "if we fail then the repatriation of Starfleet fails with us", he added. (Reply Rogers) "There are rumours also that the president himself has already been captured by Romulan intelligence although this is at best unconfirmed & probably only adverse propoganda, we cannot however dismiss the possibility completely", said T`Vhor. The FO then glanced down at his uniform, noticing as he did so the inapropriate colour of his uniform for one sitting to the right of the Captain on the bridge. Clearly he had evidently endured some kind of trauma in his past for he sported a large degree of cybernetic prosthetics. His appearance however belied his abilities however ungainly he actually appeared to be at that moment in time. T`Vhor had already gone over the mans starfleet file & was of course aware of his disabilities already, his expertise in Engineering however were second to none & so long as the man could actually perform his duties as already indicated by Starfleet itself, he could foresee no problems. "Ensign Kedren Arique, your newest Engineering officer reporting for duty", said Ensign Arique coming to a salute before the Commander. "Ensign Arique", said T`Vhor, "walk with me please", he added as he promptly returned the PADD to the stunned looking Yoeman who he had been speaking with imediately before the new ensigns arrival. Arique seemed a little off guard at the Commanders apparent ease at his appearance but he followed him nonetheless to the turbolift from whence he had just came. It was a good childhood though." Kedren stopped for a moment, pausing for thought. "I was born in southern france, on a large wine growing estate, you may have heard of my families brand Arique Rouge, we specialised in red wine, good quality stuff, or so I'm led to believe, I don't drink much myself, plays havoc with the prosthetic interfacings. He had been giving lessons every other day for the last week and a half at 1900 hours, and every day so far two people had gotten here before him. Ensign Richard Davies, who for some unknown reason everyone else called 'Patsy", and Ensign Julia Tagliani, who was actually ahead of the rest of the class because she had been learning stuff from him for much longer. James just nodded to them as he entered, a pair of crewmen on his heels. "Warm-up" James said, and was quite pleased to see the four, now five as someone else walked in, drop down and begin doing the streches he had shown them on the first day. That first day he hadn't been sure that having a class was necessary, only a few people had shown interest, and few people were actually available for the class at this time. He had started with four people, including Davies and Tagliani, and word had apparently spread, because his last class had had twelve people, one-fifteenth of the crew, and a couple of those had said they were going to bring a friend to this meeting, so he was now expecting at least fifteen. James broke from his reverie and noticed there were now eleven people stretching and warming up. ~Time for me to warm up before every one else gets here~ James thought, dropping to the floor and starting to stretch his legs. "How are you this morning?" James asked the nearest person, a Bolian woman who had shown up for the first time at the last meeting. He still hadn't caught her name or rank. "Fine" she said, sounding a little sleepy, but smiling at him nonetheless. "Good, good. Get ready for something special today, alright?" James said with a wicked grin. He turned hearing someone groan. It was Julia. "Not a word Tagliani, you've been through this, so not a word. And yes, you are doing it to." Julia just looked at him a bit skepticly. "I can already do it though." James fought down a smile at the tone of her voice. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and said "And your point is?" Julia groaned loudly and started grumbling to the crewman next to her. "Not a word, Julia" James said. Tagliani just glared at him. There were now sixteen people in the holodeck warming up, but James was done stretching and ready to begin. Instead of saying anything, he walked over to the control panel and turned the gravity up to twice earth normal, he turned his head, and tried not to laugh, most of his students had been pulled to the floor and were now staring at him, most angrily. "I know, I know, but don't worry I'll turn it down in a minute. First, though, I am going to give you a taste of what you will eventually be able to do, from now on, I will turn the gravity up a little after every couple of weeks. It will take you a while to get used to it, but eventually your muscles will adjust and become more dense, allowing you to not only move around in a heavy gravity enviornment like this one, but be able to do things like this" With this James did a series of backflips followed by a somersault and stuck his landing perfectly. He the n walked back to the control panel and turned the gravity back to twenty percent more than earth standard and started the class on the days excercises. He loved doing this to an unsuspecting class, they were moving like they were underwater, and he would eventually teach them how to move quickly in the water as well, but that was quite a ways down the road. For the moment though, he would enjoy this. (reply none, any) (posted by James Dock) (Spectre - Holodeck 2 - ATAC/ASC James Guildford- 1905) No sooner had James started the class than the door opened again and a truly diminutive woman entered. He recognized her as the SFI Agent who had been following the doctor around, they had met very briefly just after James had managed to get himself blown up, but he couldn't remember her name. ~Schmidt or something like that~ James thought to himself. She caught his eye as she approached, she was wearing a marine SDU, which made him think she had either been a marine once upon a time, or killed a marine since she had gotten aboard. That thought made him smile as she approached. "May I join you Ensign?" the Lieutenant asked. She was attractive in a hardcore kind of way. ~Not that I have any intention of pursuing that one~ James thought wryly. "Absolutely, afraid the good doctor may find a way to beat you?" James said with a grin. It was common knowledge that the two sparred frequently when off duty, and rumour had it that the doctor wasn't going to be happy until he beat her. The agent smiled slightly. "Well as you know SFI always likes to cover all eventualities." the agent said as she took a spot and began stretching in the front row next to Tagliani. "I don't think you really need to worry about it just yet, but no worries, if he comes in here, I'll whip him into shape." James said with a sharklike grin on his face. ~Man I love this job, that makes what? Seventeen? Out of a hundred eighty? I have nearly a tenth of the crew in here, I may need a bigger room... Man I love this job~ and with that, he went back to work. "May I join you Ensign?" (reply Guildford) Jo smiled slightly "Well as you know SFI always likes to cover all eventualities." She began to go through her stretching routine. (reply Guildford) With that she joined Guildfords class. This stance is called the Seskal's Talon, and it forms the basis for most of the simpler moves in the Dacoralian Martial Technique. It can be adapted easily for use with weapons as well." James said to Agent Smith, trying to catch her up to the rest of the class, which was rather easy since it turned out that not only had she been a marine, but she was a fast learner as well. (reply Agent Smith) "Right, but that's a different class, right now I'm just teaching unarmed techniques, but I may start up a class for armed combat one of these days, it seems to be popular on board this particular ship, or at least there are a lot of people curious about learning it." James replied. (reply Smith) "Yeah, but... wha?" James said dully as the gravity suddenly shut off and the holodeck doors opened again to reveal Commander T'Vhor. James smiled and yelled "Captain on the deck!" and watched as almost twenty people snapped around, some so hard they were spinning, to get a better look. Some of them attempted to come to attention, with results that sent Ensign Davies into peels of laughter, and Ensign Tagliani giggling. Commander T`Vhor nodded to acknowledge their attempts at saluting and stood and watched the class try and get back to their excercises, preferably on the ground. They appeared to be enjoying the experience, well at least Davies and Tagliani were giggling like teenagers about it. James 'swam' over to the Commander. "Can I help you sir?" he asked. "Carry on Ensign Guildford, don`t let me stop your course", said the Captain, "I was simply curious as to the nature of the rumours filtering through the crew concerning your groups", he added. "I see sir, feel free to join us sometime. I don't know what happened to the gravity, it was on heavy grav a minute ago, trying to teach this bunch to move quicker" James said. "Admirable, please continue", said the captain. James turned around and went back to the front of the class, hearing the doors close as he turned his back. He looked over his shoulder, but the captain had gone. "Alright then, what happened to the gravity?" James asked puzzledly, noting that Ensigns Davies and Tagliani seemed to start laughing harder at the question. The rest of the class looked at him with looks bearing a striking resemblence to a bunch of fish out of water. James chuckled. "Okay, that answers that question then, doesn't it?" "So-sorry sir, couldn't, couldn't help myself" Davies managed to stammer through his laughter. "No, no, it's alright. You are going to make it up to the class, both of you" James said looking at Tagliani as well, "but it's quite alright. This is supposed to be fun, though try not to do it as Commander T'Vhor pokes his head in next time please." James swam back to the control pannel and reset the gravity to the heavy grav environment he had had it set to before Davies had pulled his prank. He heard thuds and more laughter behind him as people came crashing back to the floor. The Bolian woman he had talked to earlier had been near the ceiling, and had cushioned her fall by landing on top of Davies. James chuckled again. ~I love this job.~ (reply Smith) (posted by James Dock) (USS Spectre - Holodeck 2 - CO T`Vhor - 19:10) This was something that the Commander had been wanting to see for some time now, his duties however had always prevented it until now. Their new Security Officer had been running these training classes for the past week or so & they seemed to be becoming popular amongst the crew. Anything that took their minds off of what might lay ahead for them however had to be good & for that, T`Vhor was grateful for Guildfords initiative in these off duty get togethers of his. Upon entering the Holodeck however, the CO had hardly been prepared for the sudden loss of gravity therein as his weight appeared to lighten in responce to Ensign Guildfords adjustments to the holo gravity within. (Reply Any, IYW) A few faces, one or two of them instantly recognisable turned about as the doors slid apart to see who it was that had just entered, it was quite comical actually to see a few of them actually attempt to come to attention in the reduced gravity with somewhat unpredictable results. T`Vhor however simply nodded to indicate that there was no need for them to do so as he stood watching the workout they were currently engaging in for a short while. "Carry on Ensign Guildford, don`t let me stop your course", said the Captain, "I was simply curious as to the nature of the rumours filtering through the crew concerning your groups", he added. (Reply Guildford) "Admirable, please continue", said T`Vhor as he turned about & headed for the coridoor beyond the doors once again, leaving the group to their collective, gravity impeeded exertions as he himself returned to normal gravity beyond the holodeck. He looked over at Douwsy and Marshal who were both looking intrigued. "Well it says here in the manual that it is a mark VII holographic scanner and replication device." the device was attached to the bio-bed by a box and an arm came up and over the side. Andrew stepped closer and consulted the PADD again. "It say`s that you activate the scanner here and it produces a holographic representation here." Andrew picked up a apple he had taken from the hydroponics bay and placed it under the device. ~well there goes my snack. all for medical science~ The device hummed and scanned the apple. A small representation then appeared on top of the box. "Well that's nice." He tapped on a few controls and the replication PADD which they had placed on the next bio-bed hummed into life. They all crossed over to see an apple sitting on the padd. He picked it up and took a hesitant bite out of it. "Hum not bad. there you go Helen you can replicate all those chocolate Sundays you go on about." Nurse Marshal gave Andrew a dirty look but did not reply. "Well it looks like it could be of some use." Douwsy looked at Andrew. "Pity we could not have had it earlier. The Captain could have had legs rather then being shipped out." Andrew nodded. he had thought the same when he had read through the manual but by then they had already left. "Okay you two go and have a play with it. I want a report to have every ones point of view." The marines had virtually made this bay their home now after taking delivery of two sabre class marine recon ships & a Tarawa runabout during their time docked at Starbase 375. Krige had rightly stated that if they were to do their jobs correctly then they would need the correct equipment & T`Vhor had agreed with him on that wholeheartedly. Seeing the military vessels there now however brought back memories of the time he`d spent with them during his days in the Bajoran resistance a long time past. A few of the marines however, now appeared to be in the process of adapting something within the port coolant vessel of the Tarawa as he entered the bay & the Lieutenant Colonel himself seemed occupied with a PADD as he read through it`s contents thoughtfully. "Lieutenant Colonel Krige", said T`Vhor just as Krige turned about & placed the PADD onto a desk nearby. (Reply Krige) "I will need to speak with you later when you have some free time", said T`Vhor. "We have received updated intelligence reports concerning our mission that you will need to be made aware of", he added. "I was wondering also if everything was ok with you & your men", said T`Vhor. (Reply Krige) "And the transports, are they at full operational readiness?", said T`Vhor glancing over briefly to the Marines again as they continued to work through the opened up access panel on the runabout. All around the small group of officers soldiers were jumping out of the landing craft, with somber looks upon their faces. James nodded at Davies. "Let's do it." Was all he said. Davies, Tagliani, Guildford, Nellcho (the Bolian woman), and two other security crewman were all playing the parts of officers in this holo program. They had never left the holodeck after training, they were using up Guilford's and Davies extra holodeck time. The program was familiar to James, he had been at the actual battle, he didn't know where Davies had gotten his hands on it, but there was no help for it now. Davies and Guildford jumped out of opposite sides at the same moment, followed closely by their companions. "Do you apes want to live forever?" Nellcho asked over the combat suit intercoms as they hurdled towards the ground. "Yeah, it was an old Earth infantry saying, I'm afraid the Dacoralians picked it up from an over zealous starfleet security officer, and once they had it explained to them they grew rather...fond of it." James said, smiling slightly through his helmet. "Alright, you know your targets, and hopefully you know how to use your weapons, remember to stick together and watch each others backs and you'll do fine." James said gruffly. This was supposedly in the script for the program's highest ranking officer, but James remembered this battle very clearly and knew who had really said it. It hadn't been General Ma'Rel who had said that. It had been Colonel Guildford, CO of Dragon Knight Company 4 at the time. It felt odd to be here, like deja vu, only not in a good way. This had been a major battle, millions had died, and most of Company 4 had been wiped out or captured. Which had led to a rescue attempt. Which had led to the capture, torture, and in some cases execution of t he rest of Company 4. Including one Colonel Guildford. This was the battle that had set the events in motion that had led to his wife's brutal murder, but James figured he could handle it. ~Just get into the thick of things. Don't dwell on that, old boy. These are photons and lasers, in a holodeck, don't think about what happened next. Just do it.~ James thought to himself. =^=HOLY CRAP!!=^= Davies yelled as anti-air cannons roared to life. =^=I thought you said this war was fought with swords, no technology?=^= "No, there was technology, I said no energy weapons. This stuff is all projectile weaponry, they used it to thin out troops descending from the sky. They preferred swords for personal combat." James said matter-of-factly. "Get ready to land. Tagliani and Nellcho on me, everyone else on Davies. Good luck, and good hunting." James touched a button on the side of his leg and his descent slowed as his anti-grav generator kicked in. Already the leading regiments were touching down and forming lines. And then he was down and bounding foward, his Sabre melting into the shape of a Dai-Katana. "FORM UP" James bellowed. "FORM UP! KEEP DOWN YOU LOT!" He yelled as high powered darts began streaming into their ranks. "FORM UP, DIG IN, KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN" He yelled gesturing to Nellcho to dig in with her gauntlets and knees. "That's what they're designed for" he told Tagliani as she started to protest. =^=This is squad two, we're set=^= came Davies's voice on the intercom. "Roger that, sit tight and wait for my signal" James replied, scanning the horizon with his built in telescope. ~I love this suit though~ James thought. He wasn't actually wearing the suit, it was a holographic recreation, but he had two in his quarters somewhere. ~Probably in boxes~ He thought wryly. "CO TO ALL SQUAD COMMANDERS, NET THREE, CHECK IN" James bellowed over the intercom and switched nets to listen to the reports. After all the reports rolled in James started giving orders. "Listen up mates, right flank is weak, dead center is weak, but we're not stopping there, I want my knights to tunnel underneath and come up in the middle, with captain Ti'Rell in support. The rest of us will meet them head on, there isn't any room to maneuver here so it's gonna be deadlocked. Good luck, and good hunting." he said. There were nods all around as his troops got ready to move out. "Davies, dig fast, we don't have much time and we won't win this one with out you." =^=Understood=^= came the one word reply. "Alright then all units switch back to net seven." Guildford said switching nets himself. Three...Two...One... "ALL UNITS GO GO GO" and with that more than a million men and women in armor charged straight into the holographic jaws of death. James looked over his shoulder, Tagliani had opted for the finesse of seskal finger blades, they always reminded James of an old earth comic book character. ~What was his name....Wolverine, that was it~ On his other side Nellcho was using some sort of Shield Blade, a good weapon that she had demonstrated some prowess in earlier. But this was James's game and it was time to show these puppies how to fight a war. He held up his dai-katana and it melted, forming a shield far out in front of him enveloping him, and then completely surrounding him in a sphere of silver with nothing but an eyeslit. And then all of a sudden the nine foot sphere grew spikes and picked up speed. =^=What the heck? Woah. That is not something I would want to see rolling toward me on a battlefield=^= James recognized Tagliani's voice on the intercomm. ~Just wait~ James thought to himself, and then he was there, amidst holographic enemies, screaming and trying to aim for his eyeslit on the off chance they could hit him. He ran over seven, eight people before stopping and melting his sabre back into a dai katana. He jumped into the air and landed on top of someone, bringing down his sword and forcing back the men in front of him. He grabbed the sword out of a shocked looking soldier's hands and kicked him in the face, incapacitating him. Then he brought up his sabre and swung it, it shimmered and gleamed in the light, and turned into a a bladed whip, swinging back and forth in front of him, He forced them back. =^=We're done! Go Go Go=^= came Davies excited voice over the intercomm short while later. ~That was fast~ James thought, looking up and noticing the swarm of silver-clad troops coming up from the ground in the middle of the rebel army, clad in green. "GO GO GO, DON'T STOP UNTIL WE MEET UP WITH THEM!" James roared, and his troops surged foward with renewed purpose. And then they were there, and Davies was next to him with his battle hammer, swinging away. And then, finally, it was over. The rebels were in full retreat and surrenduring by the hundreds. Davies turned and looked at James, not that they could actually see each others faces through the suit helmets. James took his helmet off. "Nicely done. And fast too, I don't think it actually happened that fast, which is too bad considering it seems to have changed this battle from a hollow victory into a complete one." "Who was in charge of the digging in the real one?" Davies asked. Davies seemed interested in everything to do with Dacoralian's military history. ~Well he's come to the right place to learn it hasn't he old boy?~ James thought to himself. "I was." Came the simple, quiet response, as the others began removing their own helmets. "I never saw the main battle. I dug up into the middle of it, I think the lines were further out until we jumped into it from the middle. Computer, Dacoralian Map Table" James said as it appeared next to the small group. James walked over to it and punched some buttons. "This is what we just did, sped up" The battle flashed, they saw the troops landing, and then surging foward. They saw a small silver ball appear and run into the enemy shield line, making a hole that was immediately exploited by the troops following it. They saw people flying backward in part of the field where a man with a whip was swinging it with a vengeance. James tapped a few more buttons. "This is the actual battle, overlayed on top of what we did, chronologically in sync. The red bit is the spot where the hole is s upposed to go." They watched this new battle, it raged on with solid lines pushing each other back and forth, long after the holodeck battle was over. Finally a hole appeared in the rebel lines, but it was nowhere near the red mark. It was followed a few moments later by a massive explosion as an anti-aircraft ammo dump was destroyed. The rebel lines pulled back and finally retreated. "That explosion killed or wounded most of the Dragon Knight Fourth Unit, causing major problems with our ability to wage war. It was a very costly victory." James said pointing at the crater that had been left by the explosion. ~And it didn't end there did it? STOP DWELLING ON THAT!~ James thought. "Well that's enough for today, off we go." James said. "Computer end program and save to file." James gestured out the door. "Who's hungry?" "Me" "I am" "Me too" came the chorus from his companions, the two security men had to go on duty, but the rest walked to the mess hall with James for a late dinner... Hearing his name jolted him for a moment into stillness, but a moment later he was raising his hands to his temples, bracing against the impending storm. ~Distress call… Third button, left console…~ ~Don’t do it! It’s a trap! They’re trying to take you back so they can use your mind again!~ ~If you don’t do it, you’ll be captured again.~ ~You’re already captive.~ ~To whom?~ ~The echo controls the voice…~ Round and round the chorus went. A dizzying depth opening beneath the Andorian’s spiralling mind. Laughing maniacally, he muttered to himself. "To do, or not to do… That is the question… What a to do! Ha!" His voice changed, took on a lighter tone. He added, "Or until we blow up," and fainted onto the cold, hard floor of the shuttle. (Reply none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (Shuttlecraft Victor Hugo – Agent Korak – 21:31) The shuttlecraft rocked heavily from side to side. The inertial dampeners were taking a hammering, and one of their thrusters was all but dead. It had taken them two hours and twenty-three minutes ~and sixteen seconds~ to be freed from the forces surrounding Betazed. The final tactic had been to fool the enemy sensors into believing the shuttle had perished. ~Not far from the truth.~ The only lingering problem was he wasn’t sure what to do next. Using what information he’d gained from his time behind enemy lines, he’d attempted to get the shuttle near to friendly forces, but time was running out and they needed help. "H’Chir, I need you to activate the distress call." The Vulcan didn’t need to look under the dashboard to see the paralysing fear and confusion grip his Andorian co-pilot. He’d come to learn that if a response didn’t come back immediately, it wasn’t coming at all. He re-routed power away from the damaged thrusters, jabbed the distress call on with the heel of his palm, and reached one hand down to the Andorian’s shivering face hoping a telepathic probe would suffice until he could administer a full mindmeld. ~Or until we blow up,~ he thought, only later realising that H’Chir had spoken those exact same words at the same moment. He heard the Andorian slump to the floor, but didn’t dare take himself away from the flight console to tend his wounded companion. (Reply Spectre) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor & TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 21:32) The tactical officers brow had furrowed up the moment the alert had been indicated on her console. ~What the hell~ "Sir, I have an undisclosed contact bearing one ninety mark three seven", said Yelena, her attention not leaving the console for one second as she configured the Spectres sensors to focus on the contact. "It`s transmitting a distress call sir", she added as the active sensor net probed the small vessel further. (Reply Rogers) Yelena instinctively realised the nature of what was unfolding around them now & quickly tapped at her combadge to open a channel. "Captain to the bridge", said Vasilyovna. =/\=On my way Lieutenant=/\= came the prompt reply. Within seconds the Captain had exited his ready room & had taken the centre chair as Rogers promptly moved aside. "What do we have Lieutenant Vasilyovna", said the Captain. "A small shuttle sir, federation configuration but not transmitting a starfleet registry", said Yelena. "It appears to be under attack", she added. "Red alert", said T`Vhor, "Conn, bring us to a stop & exit the river", he added as the red annunciator began flashing around the bridge in chorus with the alert klaxons. (Reply Rodriguez, Any) "I have another contact closing on the first sir", said the Tactical chief, "a warbird....Haakona class, she`s opening fire again", said Yelena. "Bring us to bear Lieutenant Rodriguez, plot an intercept course & close the distance", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rodriguez, Any) In an instance, the small shuttle was visible in the viewscreen, it`s port thruster venting drive plasma into space as it limped towards them pursued by the relentless Romulan vessel. "Hail them", said T`Vhor. "Prepare to extend shields around the shuttle the moment we are in range. "Opening a channel sir", said Yelena & the announcer chime signalled accordingly to indicate an open channel. "On screen", said T`Vhor & the shaking interior cabin of the battered shuttle appeared before them, filling with smoke as it`s apparently Vulcan pilot wrestled with the controls. (Reply Korak) Within seconds, the Spectre had come to a stop near the shuttle, it`s shields extending as ordered to protect it as it did so whilst the Tactical chief continued to monitor the incoming Warbird. "Sir, we are being hailed by the warbird", said Yelena. T`Vhor looked quickly to his tactical chief, then he returned his gaze to the viewscreen. "The shuttle has sustained damage to it`s port nacelle, the inertial dampeners are offline & there is a coolent leak from the aft coolant vessel", said Yelena anticipating the CO`s request accordingly. "Our sensors indicate that your ship is not in imminent danger of exploding, we have extended our shields around you to protect you further?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Korak) "Very well, stand by", said T`Vhor. "Hailing frequencies Lieutenant", he added as Yelena quickly opened a channel to the warbird. (Reply Rodriguez, Korak, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Shuttlecraft Victor Hugo - Agent Korak - 2132) Korak wasted no time in issuing the clipped order, "Extend your shields around us." He could only hope the authority of his voice would carry the situation, as maintaining both the engine-core and the shields was fast becoming impossible. A wave of static passed over the viewscreen, and a second readout showed the Spectre-class vessel had indeed extended her shielding around the damaged shuttle. Someone from another race might have taken this as cause to relax, but Korak simply moved his concentration from his shuttle to the ship whose care he was now in. "The shuttle has sustained damage to its port nacelle, the inertial dampeners are offline & there is a coolant leak from the aft coolant vessel" NRPG: Is there a separate icon to denote speech through a viewscreen? RPG: Arching his eyebrow Korak thought ~I could have told you that~ and waited for the ship's commander to address him. "Our sensors indicate that your ship is not in imminent danger of exploding, we have extended our shields around you to protect you further?" "Satisfactory. You may find the Romulans less easily dissuaded." The flight from Betazed had bred the bizarre staccato of those who cannot afford to waste words into his voice, so with an unnatural abruptness he changed the subject and dropped a further piece of information into the Commander's lap: "I must tend to our wounded." "Very well; stand by." The channel blinked closed and Korak immediately set about the task of reviving the fallen Andorian. Not a particularly difficult task, these 'short-circuits' had been a regular event in their lives since the escape from Betazed. He'd once attempted to let the Andorian rouse himself naturally, but after six hours of inactivity it had seemed that might not happen. "My mind to your mind." (Reply none) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor & Romulan Commander Torak - 21:33) "What is the meaning of this!!!", cried the Romulan commander as he leaned forwards towards the viewscreen in an aggressive posture. "Release that vessel immediately, how dare you interfere", he hollered. Commander T`Vhor however was unphased by his arrogant stance, he simply regarded the Romulan Commander in a calm collected manner in typical Vulcan fashion. "We have answered a distress call, the shuttle called for our assistance", said T`Vhor, "we are duty bound to respond & it is a federation shuttle after all", he added. "That means nothing", said Torak acidicly, "the shuttle contains two terrorists that were in our custody until recently, they are enemies of the Romulan state & we have a legitimate claim on them so lower your shields now", he added. "And what will be your intentions if we do that?", said T`Vhor. The Romulan Commanders taut expression changed then as he simply sat back into his chair & allowed a smile to form upon his face for the first time in responce to that question. "We will blow them from the skies", said Torak, "what did you expect", he added, his smile broadening at the very mention of it. "I cannot allow that", said T`Vhor calmly. "The occupants of the shuttle are now under our jurisdiction & will be treated accordingly, if your claims are found to be valid, they will be returned to Romulus forthwith", he added, much to the Romulans obvious consternation. Torak fumed at the Federation Captains words, not only was he a starfleet officer, he was also a Vulcan & Torak despised Vulcans venomously. "Then prepare to die along with them then", said Torak, his face taking on an aggrieved appearance as he spoke. "Commander, do you really wish to risk open war with the federation over one shuttle?", said T`Vhor. "If I were to ask you what you are now doing in federation space, you will no doubt insist that you are here on a routine science mission", he added. "The resulting battle, should we engage one another in combat will no doubt raise more questions that will undoubtedly be posed to your government with interesting results I would imagine", said T`Vhor. The Romulan paused in responce as he pondered that sentiment, then he turned to his subcommander who was already whispering into his ear with no doubt suitable advice. Torak bit his lip in an attempt to contain his increasing anger at the situation, then he returned his attention to the viewscreen. "Very well Captain", said Torak. "Today you win this encounter but rest assured that this matter is not closed", he added. "I will report this to senate, we WILL meet again", he added as he cut the transmission abruptly to return the viewscreen to it`s familiar star filled vista. (Reply None) (Posted by Alan Reading) (USS Spectre - Main Bridge - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 21.33) Brian was silently sitting in the captain's chair. ~I should be off to bed soon,~ he thought, glancing at the chronometer. Suddenly, Lt. Vasilyovna proclaimed, "Sir, I have an undisclosed contact bearing one ninety mark three seven." "What the hell?" Rogers said. He stood up and was about to request a deeper scan, yet Yelena was already on it. "It`s transmitting a distress call sir," she said. Rogers rubbed the edge of his chin. "Keep scanning it, lieutenant. And get Commander T'Vhor to the bridge." She called him, and Rogers walked to a unoccupied Science station to carefully examine the readings for himself. Soon enough, T'Vhor got on the bridge and took the Captain's chair. Rogers returned to his place in the First Officer's Chair. NRPG: I will spare you all having to reread the events of Alan and Michael's posts cut and pasted into my post. RPG: Rogers watched the scene unfold with the shuttle everything seemed to be going ok, until.... "I have another contact closing on the first sir... a warbird....Haakona class, she`s opening fire again," Vasilyovna reported. ~Warbird... Romulan?~ Rogers thought, a slight panic rising in his brain. Brian gripped the armrests of his seat. They all watched has the shuttle slowly came towards them, and the Romulan ship behind them. By T'Vhor's quick thinking, the shields of the Spectre were extended around the shuttle and kept it safe. Soon enough, the Warbird hailed the Spectre, and T'Vhor and the Romulan commander got into a rather long winded discussion. The Romulan commander demanded that the shuttle be released, and persisted the shuttle contained two terrorists who were enemies of the Romulan Empire. He also calmed, he had no intent to capture them, but plans to kill them from the luxury of his command chair, with the press of a disruptor control button. T'Vhor calmly explained that could not be allowed, and the passengers of the shuttle would have to be investigated. The Romulan commander gave a few threats, however, T'Vhor's mention of a total war scared him off. Shortly after he had left, contact with the shuttle was resumed. Rogers, perhaps from his year has a counselor, noticed many of the bridge crew had a reaction at the picture of a Andorian on the screen. "To whom am I speaking?" T'Vhor asked a few moments later. "Officer Korak, sir, and I'd prefer to have this discussion in person rather than over an open channel." The Vulcan said. ~Two Vulcans talking... how exciting...~ Rogers though to himself. "Very well, bring your shuttle into hanger bay two, I will speak with you shortly." T'Vhor said, and shortly after, the channel was closed. T'Vhor asked Vasilyovna is send some security details to the hanger bay, and then headed towards his ready room. "You have the bridge, Mr. Rogers." "Aye, sir," Rogers said. (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor & TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 21:37) With the departure of the Warbird, T`Vhor turned his attention to the damaged shuttle sitting directly ahead of them & ordered the Spectre to stand down from red alert & re-establish communication with it`s occupants. The Tactical chief obliged accordingly & the face of the Vulcan from before reappeared in the viewscreen along with that of an Andorian with a very familiar face. (Reply Korak, IYW) Commander T`Vhor simply stared in disbelief as he registered the man sitting before him now. It was unbelievable & yet it was true, it was H'Chir, the Andorian Chief Engineer that had betrayed them during their last mission!!! It was the Vulcan however that was now doing all the talking for H'Chir was clearly not himself & in somewhat of a daze, his eyes closing sporadically as he fought against loss of consciousness. "To whom am I speaking?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Korak) "Very well, bring your shuttle into hanger bay two, I will speak with you shortly", said T`Vhor as he closed the channel & turned to the Tactical chief once again. "Lieutenant Vasilyovna, I want a security team to hanger bay two imediately, have H'Chir escorted to medical & bring the shuttle pilot to my ready room", said T`Vhor as he stood & headed off promptly. "Aye sir", said Yelena as she handed her station off to a nearby ATAC & headed for the turbolift. "You have the bridge Mr Rogers", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rogers, IYW) T`Vhor then entered his ready room in preperation for the interesting story he would undoubtably be hearing very shortly. (Reply Korak, H'Chir, Rogers, Any) (Posted by Alan Reading) (Shuttlecraft Victor Hugo - Agent Korak - 2138) The shock evident on the starship crew's faces was enough to confirm that this was indeed the same USS Spectre already known to his passenger and ward, Ensign H'Chir. Aware of the questionable terms on which they had parted company, Korak strove to focus the attention back on himself. "Thank you, Commander. I monitored your exchange with the Romulan vessel. Their claims were entirely unfounded." "To whom am I speaking?" "Officer Korak, sir, and I'd prefer to have this discussion in person rather than over an open channel." "Very well, bring your shuttle into hangar bay two. I will speak with you shortly." Again the image of the Vulcan Commander was replaced with stars, and Korak set about manoeuvring the shuttle towards the aft hangar bays using minimal power only. Looking down through the window she could see that the port nacelle had sustained considerable disruptor damage but the venting plasma had now been contained by the bays automatic neutralisation equipment & the simple act of just shutting down the crafts engines as it put down. Noticing the arrival of Guildford & his team however, she turned to the crewman manning the launch control console & quized him on safety matters. "Is there any danger of that engine venting again?", she asked. "None sir, it`s contained & inert", said the crewman. Kenny thought that it was all in his head so he ignored it, but it took him a while to notice it was coming form his COMM Badge. He shot up from his bed, pain reared in his head. What the Hell had he been thinking? Drinking alcohol all day after his games at the holodeck?! Sure, he was of duty at the time, but he should have known he was gonna be on soon. This was bad. How could he go if he had a hangover? What made it worse was that he was still a little drunk. He nearly fell of his bed trying to grab his COMM badge. He cursed as it fell on the floor, and he stepped on it, making it bleep several times. "McKanzie...zie here, Sir. I'm on mys ways." Kenny hoped that the Vulcan did not know by way of his speech that he was a little intoxicated, but he knew how intelligent Vulcan's were. They where not as stupid as Human. Yes, we Humans are stupid, he thought. He was the best example. Look at myself, I'm a freaking mess! You don't see a drunk Vulcan, do you? Oh, no... He knew that he was only moaning about nothing so he could get his mind of things. He always did this when he was drunk. He looked down at his uniform. It was not all that bad... Why had he drunk so much again? Kenny already knew the answer. It was over his old love, Lorne Easton, back at high school. The one that he fell in love with, and the one who broke his heart. Kenny knew that it was a really dumb excuse to go drinking, but it had always been the same. Every once in a while he began to remember how Lorne had treated him, and it always wanted to make him overeat or binge drink, Mostly the former, but he did not have much access to the food, but the alcohol was easier to get to. He usually pigged out with food over these emotional episodes, but he had chosen drink today... and he wished he had not. What a way to start a Star Fleet career. It was his second day and he was drunk. He always tried to blame it on his memories of Lorne, but it was becoming a very pitiful excuse nowadays. But he never put it on his Star Fleet record, he didn't know why. Maybe he should go and see Taixa or Williams? Screw T'Vhor, he thought. I need to see someone of this. I have to get help... I can't go on like this. I told myself I would stop it once I joined Star Fleet, but I didn't. He knew his comfort eating had gotten out of hand again, if it wasn't for his exercises as part of Star Fleets keep fit programme, he knew he would have started to gain weight again and he had no desire to be overweight again. A short message came through quickly from T'Vhor. =/\=Mr. Rogers, re-establish heading and course to the subspace river and take us back in. Inform me when we are back on course to Alpha Onias III, =/\= T'Vhor said. "Aye, sir!" Rogers said. When the channel closed, Rogers turned to a young female Ensign, sitting at a Science station. "Do you think I'm being too peppy when I take orders from T'Vhor?" Rogers asked. "Peppy, sir?" she asked. "Yeah, you know, peppy, lively, perky?" Rogers asked, grinning. "Sir, you certainly are lively," she said, smiling. Rogers playfully shook his head and turned his attention back to the front of the bridge. "Conn, set a course back into the subspace river. Take us in," he ordered. The Conn officer gave a quick reply, and the ship began flying back towards the river. They entered the river and ship shook a slight bit, but continued never the less into the river. Brian patted the conn officer on the back. "Good flying, Ensign," he said, before returning to the Science station. "How are the sensor readings?" he asked. "Every thing is reading normally... sir," she said. Rogers smiled and tapped his comm badge. "Rogers to T'Vhor, we've entered the river. Science station reports all readings are normal," Rogers said, grinning. The ensign blushed and grinned, and refused to make eye contact with the first officer. The doctor looked at him askance as he followed the curve of the wall rather than walking across the middle of the room. His mind was only half in the room, the rest concentrating through his electro-magnetic sense, his own make-shift attempt to detect and block any psychic interference. "Hallo Mr H'Chir its Dr Williams from the Spectre. Its okay your in sickbay. Its going to be okay Mr H'Chir your home." The mention of his name brought him into startling focus and he snapped back at the Doctor, "Of course it's ok, you mutton-headed pink-skin!" Clearly angry and flustered, H'Chir bared his teeth in ire. "Its okay Mr H'Chir your safe its okay." "I want to see my engines." The statement came too late, as the Doctor was already back in discussion with the Security Chief. All the same, H'Chir felt their calming influence from just having mentioned them. "Miss Vasilyovna, what's happened?", said the Doctor as they arrived swiftly through his doors. "Never mind just now Doctor, I have a patient for you that you might possibly know...... It`s H'Chir", said Yelena. The Doctor`s jaw just dropped as he stared at the blue skined Andorrian as he was placed upon one of the Bio-beds. His initial surprise however was imediately countered by his duty to the patient irrespective of the why`s & wherefores of how he had came to be there. "Miss Vasilyovna. it appears that Mr H'Chir has suffered major physiological and psychological trauma.", said Williams. "His physiological issues are not life threatening but I don't know where to start on his psychological treatment. I'm going to get Mr Taxia over here as its his area.", said the Doctor. "Very well", said Yelena, "I`ll leave one of my security officer`s here with you to be safe", she added. "After all, we know nothing yet as to what the man has been through, or indeed what he might do if he......has some kind of change of mind", said Yelena. The Doctor simply nodded, realising as he did so that it was probably a wise precaution. Yelena then walked off leaving the Doctor to the task of bringing the Councellor`s expertise in on the matter via his communicator. (Reply T’Vhor, Any) (Posted by James Dock) (USS Spectre, Ready Room - Agent Korak - 2145) There had been gratifyingly little conversation on the journey, although that could be indicative of attitude towards them from the command staff. So it was with a steely mentality that Korak first found himself face-to-face with the Spectre's commander. Left alone, he stood rigid, waiting for the other man to make his move. (Reply T'Vhor, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre – Bridge – OPS Ens(Jg) Aiden Keira – 21:45) Keira was bored again. Not that life on the Spectre was boring. So much has happened since she came aboard, and especially in the last day. It was just that she didn’t feel… involved. She was sitting at her station on the bridge, attending to her duties. That was part of the problem. At the moment her duties involved all the routine administration work you could think of. Quite a few new arrivals had come aboard the Spectre recently and it was up to her to make sure that they were all properly catalogued and assigned. She knew she could leave this to an assistant, but after the bomb fiasco, she wanted to make sure everything was done properly. The ship basically now had a full complement of staff and that was good for the mission ahead. Keira didn’t know what to make of the reappearance of H’Chir. She didn’t know the Andorian personally, as he had ‘left’ the Spectre just before she arrived, but she had of course read his file and now made it a personal objective of hers to keep an eye on him. No-one was going to sabotage her ship again! She chuckled at that. She knew the Spectre was by no means ‘her ship’, but she had already started to develop an affinity for it. The only problem was that she still felt as if she didn’t know the crew properly. She knew that was her fault – choosing to remain on board while everyone went on shore leave, but she would seek to rectify that soon. With that thought in mind, she quickly scanned the bridge. Korak was crossing it, accompanied by security guards, to T’Vhor’s ready room. Rogers was looking at them with a puzzled _expression on his face. Keira quickly read the situation and crossed to the new FO. “Sir, what do you make of all of this?” she asked, waiting for his response. "Understood, Security is outside if needed", said Guildford as he then left the two men to talk. For a brief moment, T`Vhor simply looked into Korak`s face, noting as he did so that the man looked tired & drained, there was a sadness about him but also a deep compassion for others that instantly resonated with T`Vhors betazoid empathic sences. "Please", said T`Vhor motioning with his hand towards the seat, "have a seat Officer Korak, would you like a drink perhaps?", he added. (Reply Korak) NRPG: Assuming a yes here... RPG: T`Vhor walked over to the replicator & requested two coffee`s before returning & handing one to Korak before seating himself once again. They will end several months ago with very little indication of what has happened since." He didn't wait for confirmation I have been behind enemy lines attempting to gather information on a growing movement within Admiral Doenitz's forces. "Several months ago our own Strategic Operations had noticed a pattern linking several recent skirmishes. Rumours and conjecture was investigated and a name recurred. I was sent to Betazed to investigate that name: T'Rok. "Whether you realise it or not, the force that betrayed you at Betazed was not the Andorian. For some time - I have been unable to ascertain precisely how long - his mind has played host to the katra of one of Doenitz's rising stars, Lieutenant T'Rok. It was this persona that fought your Colonel Krige, betrayed your ship and sought to kill your Captain, and reunited with its own body I am certain it poses an ever greater threat to our operations." (Reply T'Vhor, any) (Posted by Michael Drake) (USS Spectre - Captain`s Ready Room - CO T`Vhor - 21:49) Whilst sitting there discussing matters with the Vulcan agent Korak, T`Vhor was intrigued by what he was hearing. The rumours of a split within Admiral Doenitz`s ranks were not new of course, the Spectre itself had two of those very defectors on board right now in fact, but the realisation that the extent of that split was larger than they had first imagined was interesting to say the least. His thoughts on the matter however were momentarilly broken by the sudden communication from the First officer that they had returned to their previous heading & were now on course once again to Alpha Onias III. "Understood Mr Roger`s, keep me informed of any further developments", said T`Vhor as he returned his attention to Korak & his revelations once again. "You are correct of course", said T`Vhor, I have indeed looked into your history, I am aware of your service record & the fact that it ended abruptly somewhere towards the end of 2406", he added sipping slowly at his coffee as he contemplated his next question, for it alone would reveal Koraks validity now more than any other. "I will of course need to see the information you yourself have gathered on the fifth column actions occuring within the Admirals ranks", said T`Vhor. "You must understand that I cannot take any of this as undisputed fact until such time as I have seen all of of the available evidence", he added. (Reply Korak) T`Vhor nodded accordingly & sipped again at his coffee as Korak continued on concerning the matter of H'Chir & how the Andorian had apparently been host to the malevelent Katra of another. It didn`t come as a surprise to the Commander at all for he had senced a certain duality in the man the moment he had first begun his service on the Spectre as it`s First Officer, the facts that Korak had relayed simply brought it`s relevance to the fore. The very mention of T'Rok however had raised the commanders attention somewhat, the name was not new to T`Vhor, he had seen it once before. "This name you speak of", said T`Vhor putting his cup onto the table & sitting back into his chair now. "I have seen this name", he added. (Reply Korak) "It was contained within the downloaded files of Betazed outpost four & was recovered during a covert mission to release a prisoner held there", said the Commander. "Of course Command has been unable to identify him & he has remained little more than a shadow in their investigations", he added. (Reply Korak) "And what of you agent Korak?", said T`vhor, "what are your intentions now that you have......returned to the fold so to speak?", he added as he picked up his cup from the table once again. The truth of the matter however was that Yelena knew she had to finish with the files beforehand & so reluctantly declined her offer. With the planet itself now visible in their viewscreen, the Captain wasted no time at all in moving the ship into position, the last thing they needed now was to come under the attention of yet another Romulan vessel so close to the neutral zone & the sooner they met their aide the better. "Conn, establish a low synchronous orbit", said T`Vhor. (Reply Rodriguez, Any) "Scan for contacts", said T`Vhor turning his attention to the tactical officer as he spoke. "Scanning sir", said Vasilyovna, "I`m picking up a debris field, four thousand metres of our port bow", she added. Imediately T`Vhor turned to Nolly`s at the science console in responce to the information just received from tactical. "Your analysis of the debris field please Lieutenant", said T`Vhor. (Reply Nolly`s) This was the last thing they had wanted to hear, the fact that this was clearly the remains of a shuttle was not good at all, if they had lost the presidential aide they would be all but blind on this mission from here on in. "Is there any evidence of Anti proton residue amongst the debris Lieutenant?", said T`Vhor. (Reply Nolly`s) The news from the science station had only compounded the situation further, with the presence of anti protons confirmed, this was clearly a Romulan attack now & that of course raised the question as to wether or not the earlier rumours of Romulan intervention in Rondar Nell`s capture were true after all. T`Vhor thought for a while on the matter & then he looked towards the viewscreen at the surface of Alpha Onias III. "Lieutenant Vasilyovna, scan the surface for any life signs, beacons or anything untoward", said T`Vhor. "Aye sir, scanning now", said Yelena, "I`m picking up a lifepod beacon sir, location....grid reference two six six, one ninety", she added. "Lifesigns?", said T`Vhor. "Bridge to transporter room one, lock on to the lifesign reading on the surface & prepare to beam it aboard", said T`Vhor. =/\=Aye sir, attempting a lock.......negative Captain, I can`t get a reliable fix, there seems to be an ionic storm raging in the lower atmosphere, with more power I may be able to get a fix, failing that however we`ll have to wait until the storm passes=/\= "Ensign Aiden", said the Captain turning to the Ops Officer, "can we bypass any of our systems & boost power to transporter room one in order to achieve a beamout?", said T`Vhor. Some of the happening on the Spectre were still a mystery to her, especially those surrounding Korak and H’Chir, but here was finally something she could get her teeth into. She listened closely as the conversation on the bridge went on around her, T’Vhor efficiently issuing orders to his crew. The debris field loomed large on the viewscreen as Keira contemplated what could’ve happened. Did the Romulans get there first? If so, was it by chance or had their mission somehow been compromised? “Ensign Aiden”, said the Captain, startling Keira slightly, "can we bypass any of our systems & boost power to transporter room one in order to achieve a Beamout?” “The only non-essential systems right now are the weapons, cloak and shield, Sir,” she replied. “Theoretically we could bypass those, but it would leave us vulnerable to sudden attack. Should I go ahead?” She turned to look at T’Vhor, who nodded, but the concerned _expression on his face showed he was all too aware of the potential danger. “Bypassing shields first, since they need to be lowered to transport anyway,” Keira said, her fingers flying over the console in front of her. “Rerouting power. Try it now.” =^=Negative, Sir. Still not sufficient power. Definitely a ship – could be Romulan.” “How long till it gets here?” Keira said again, oblivious to the slightly annoyed _expression on T’Vhor’s face. Lucky for her that he was Vulcan. “40 minutes, maybe less,” came the reply. The transporter room interjected: =^=It’s no good, Sir, we can’t get that lock. The storm would have to dissipate significantly for us to do so=^= “Captain, we could get a shuttle there and back in forty minutes…” Keira said, finally turning to T’Vhor, a questioning look on her face. (Reply T’Vhor, Any) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) (USS Spectre - Main Bridge - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 06.00) The proverbial dawn had come quickly for Rogers, who had under estimated how his first day of being a First Officer had tired him out. He now sat in his usual position, in the right seat, next to Commander T'Vhor. He was reading a PADD which contained the night shift's log, and sipping a mug of hot coffee. He felt some growing anticipation, has they were due to arrive at Alpha Onias III any moment, and he found himself hoping for some action, any action or excitement. Brian had only been out of the Academy for a year, and this was the kind of mission he had day-dreamed about during boring lectures in his Earth History Academy classes. Soon enough, the planet was within range, and the Captain had the ship moved into a low orbit. Rogers didn't understand why, until he remembered that Alpha Onias III was only a stone's throw away from the Neutral Zone. "Scan for contacts," T'Vhor asked. The bridge crew waited in silence for Lt. Vasilyovna's reply. "I`m picking up a debris field, four thousand metres of our port bow," she calmed. Rogers sipped his coffee and put it down, pondering this small mystery. The debris field could be from anything, although it was worth investigating. T'Vhor, apparently, agreed. He asked Ms. Nolly's for her analysis, and the results were startling. It appeared it had been a shuttle, and it also appeared, that Romulans were the culprits. The bridge crew waited for orders has T'Vhor silently looked out of the viewscreen. ~If the presidential aide is dead, then we are lost. Where do we even start to look for him?~ Rogers thought to himself, fearing the worse. "Lieutenant Vasilyovna, scan the surface for any life signs, beacons or anything untoward," T'Vhor ordered. Ever the officer, Vasilyovna replied and began scanning. "I'm picking up a lifepod beacon sir, location....grid reference 266-190," she reported. "Lifesigns?" T'Vhor asked. "One sir, male and unconscious," she added. T'Vhor ordered the man to be beamed aboard, however, the transporters nemesis, the ionic storm, was present, and prevented a beam out. T'Vhor asked Ensign Keria if he could boost the systems and get a beam out. Keria replied that if critical systems were bypassed, possibly enough power could be achieved to power through the ionic storm, and successfully beam out the man. T'Vhor told him to go ahead, and do whatever it took to beam him out. Rogers didn't like the idea of losing their cloaking device and shields, specially this close to Romulan space, and when they had damn-near concrete evidence that Romulans had just destroyed a Federation shuttlecraft. Everyone listened has Ensign Keria and the transporter chief worked and attempted to beam the man out. Despite dropping shields, cloaking device and weapons, only a partial lock could be achieved. Rogers started thinking of an alternative plan, but T'Vhor already had one. "Mr. Rogers, if we can't get that lock, I want you to take a shuttle down to the surface and retrieve the individual in the lifepod," T'Vhor said. "Of course, Commander." Rogers said with an fearless nod. On the surface, he was nonchalant and not afraid of anything, however, personally, he didn't care to fly a shuttle into an ionic storm, specially since the record of ionic storms vs. Federation support craft wasn't very good... for the Support Craft. Things went from bad to worse has a ship dropped out of warp and started closing on the Spectre. It appeared to be Romulan. Ensign Keira informed them all that a shuttle could be taken down and back up in 40 minutes. Roger's blue eyes never left T'Vhor has he watched the captain and waited for the word. "Agreed. Mr. Rogers, take a team and get down there, you have thirty minutes and the clock as they say, is ticking," T'Vhor said. "Aye, sir," Rogers proclaimed, not even fully finished speaking before he started sprinting towards the turbolift. Once inside, he shouted quickly, "Main Shuttlebay, now!" and the car began moving downwards. NRPG: James' Guildford post said he was asked to report to the shuttle bay. Might has well provide a reasoning. RPG: Rogers tapped his comm badge, "Rogers to Lt. Vasilyonva," he asked. The "skinny" suit was a thin type of emergency decompression suit. it was skin tight hence it's name. he had been given it by his parents the first time he had got on a salvage mission. He grinned to himself as he remembered about being in Zero-G. he had gotten such a buzz out of it and still did. (reply any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge - CO T`Vhor & TAC/SC Yelena Vasilyovna - 06:04) Things were very much touch & go on the bridge at this moment in time, they now had a contact closing at warp with an ETA of forty minutes or less, a wounded person on the surface & an ionic storm raging below preventing them from beaming him or her out. T`Vhor quickly weighed up the variables in his mind as the transporter operator fought to get a reliable lock on the lifepods occupant, it wasn`t looking good though regardless of Ensign Aiden`s manipulations of the power grid. Logic dictated of course that the possibility was that the incoming vessel was Romulan, they had already been in the area after all & had clearly showed their hand once before. The Spectre however was a much more formidible foe than a relatively lightly armed transport & T`Vhor knew that a Romulan commander would be less inclined to resort to firing his disruptors upon a federation vessel, whilst it was still technically in federation space. "Captain, we could get a shuttle there and back in forty minutes", said Keira. The Ops Officer was correct of course, it was realistically & logicly their only option, they could explain away their presence easily enough to the commander of a Romulan vessel so long as they already had the presidential aide on board if & when it arrived. "Agreed, Mr Rogers, take a team & get down there, you have thirty minutes & the clock as they say is ticking", said T`Vhor. "What are you working on?" Nellcho asked. "A new compound, trying to neutralize my tears, you know?" Julia said, still sounding far away. "Why would you want to neutralize your tears?" Nellcho asked, looking suspicious "I thought Elasian women liked having the power to enslave men?" "Not this Elasian woman. He was a little confused, he had thought they were supposed to meet with a ship and he didn't quite know why an away mission was needed. But he was here, and he would do his duty, at least as long as he was wearing this uniform. He liked serving on board ship more than he liked serving in army ground forces, and he supposed that was part of what had drawn him to leave Dacoralian space and returned to Earth. That and the fact that the reverence and esteem he was held in since the Civil War had ended had made him uncomfortable. That, however, was beside the point, he was waiting for Lt. RPG: The Captain replied in the negative. “Bridge to Finkel.” Keira said, “You need to launch now! New route sent. No time to bypass storm pockets anymore! You need to get straight to that beacon and get the cargo!” ~Let’s just pray the shuttle holds,~ Keira thought. “Captain, we need to try and stall the Romulans. Could I suggest we break orbit and meet them further away from the planet? It would make it more difficult to retrieve our shuttle, but we may be able to convince them that our presence here is innocent, causing them to leave, which will allow us time to go back for the away team. Or… we could just stay here and bet on our away team making it back before they arrive.” “What is the estimate on the away team?” T’Vhor asked. “22 to 27 minutes,” Keira replied, “depending on storm severity and what they find down there.” Keira looked anxiously at T’Vhor, waiting for his reply. (Reply T’Vhor, Rogers, Any) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) (Type-7 Shuttle 'Finkel' - FO - Lt. Brian Rogers - 06.12) The shuttle began entering the outer atmosphere of Alpha Onias III. Brian cut the impulse engines almost to 0% power and began using the thrusters to keep the landing approach nominal. They started to enter the ionic storm. Rogers checked the sensors, it was a Force-5. Not exactly enough to rip the hull apart, but still too prevent transporters and make it rough ride. Shortly after, a ionic discharge hit the shuttle, rocking it violently, Rogers entered commands quickly, recorrecting the shuttles course. "Mr. Guildford, put shields to full strength!" Rogers said, as they barely missed another ionic discharge. (reply Guildford) Rogers nodded, "Very good, ensign. I've got the escape pod in sight, coming in on final approach," Rogers said has the shuttle got slower and closer to the ground... However, another ionic discharge fired off across the shuttle's broadside, and the sensor display went dead. "Son of a..." Rogers started, "We've got nothing. We're flying blind," Rogers said. He looked up out of windows, a purple haze was all he could see. "Hold on, this might get roug-..." Before Rogers could finish, the shuttle had a rough touchdown on the rocky terrain on the surface of Alpha Onias III, and slide about 10 meters before coming to a slow stop. When the dust had settled, Rogers turned around in his chair to his away team. "Every one alright?" he asked. (reply Guildford, Williams) Rogers turned back around and checked the shuttle's systems. "The shuttle is fine. Some external damage on the underside of the nacelles. How are the shields and weapons, James?" (reply Guildford) Rogers nodded and pulled out a tricorder. He stared at it for a few moments before declaring, "I've got the target. He's roughly an 1/8th mile south. We should move quickly..." Rogers said. All three men moved to the rear hatch and walked out onto the barren, rocky surface of Alpha Onias III. James was at the TAC station, checking his sensors when a discharge hit the shuttle, shaking the cabin up and throwing loose objects around. James started to put the shields up higher when Lt. Rogers said "Mr. Guildford, put shields to full strength!" "I already did, sir" James replied, correcting for the energy spike from the ionic discharge. Rogers nodded, "Very good, ensign. I've got the escape pod in sight, coming in on final approach." Rogers sounded far away, just as the shuttle was coming in for the final approach, another discharge hit the shuttle and everything went haywire. "Son of a..." Rogers growled, "We've got nothing. We're flying blind." A few seconds later Rogers started "Hold on, this might get roug-..." Before he could finish, the shuttle had a turbulent touchdown on the rocky terrain on the surface of Alpha Onias III, and slide about 10 meters before coming to a slow stop. When the dust had settled, Lt. Rogers turned around in his chair to his away team. "Every one alright?" he asked. "Shaken, not stirred" James said, getting a raised eyebrow in response, "Uh, yes sir, I'm fine." Rogers turned back around and checked the shuttle's systems. "The shuttle is fine. Some external damage on the underside of the nacelles. How are the shields and weapons, James?" "Weapons are undamaged, shields are offline, I think I can get them back up on the ride home though." James responded, noting that the first officer had called him by his first name. ~Guess there's a first time for everything~ James thought to himself. Brian nodded and pulled out a tricorder. He stared at it for a few moments before declaring, "I've got the target. He's roughly an 1/8th mile south. We should move quickly..." Rogers said. "Sir!", said the Ops Officer, "New contact on scanners, Sir!", she added. "Similar warp signature to the first one, Sir... definitely Romulan. Closing at maximum warp and... Sir, it’s closer.", said Ensign Aiden. "How close?", said T’Vhor. "ETA…, 25 minutes! Should I stop the shuttle launch, Sir?", said Keira. "No", said T`Vhor, "it`s imperitive that we complete this phase of the mission, if we delay now until the Romulan vessel leaves, we could lose our contact to possible serious injury", he added. "Contact Mr Rogers & inform him of our situation, advise them to ammend their course accordingly to get this done as soon as possible", said T`Vhor. Ensign Aiden nodded & then opened a channel to the First Officer as ordered to inform him of the ammendements to his mission. "Captain, we need to try and stall the Romulans. "One moment sir, I`ll have telemetry in one moment", said Yelena as she ran her fingers deftly across the tactical console. "I have it now sir, confirming two vessels...one is definately Romulan, D-deridex class warbird, the other is.........", said Yelena pausing to re-check before answering. "The other is a federation shuttle sir", she added in a surprised tone. "Federation?", said T`Vhor equally as surprised as she at the mention of it. "Yes sir, type nine federation transport transmitting a starfleet registry & on an intercept course", said Yelena. "Why didn`t we receive it`s registry beforehand?", said T`Vhor. "I`m not sure sir, it could have been the ionic activity on the surface of the planet interfering with our sensors", said Yelena. "Hail the shuttle", said T`Vhor, "Inform it of our status & order it`s crew to standby for further orders", said the Captain as he settled back into his chair & turned to the Ops officer once again in regards her previous recommendations. "Your recommendations are noted Ensign, however, I want to give this Romulan no cause for suspicion, to break orbit & confront it implies some form of covert action on our part", said T`Vhor. "We are in federation space with nothing to hide at this moment in time & that is precisely what I want us to project", he added. Then there was the smell of electrical burning coming from some place imedediately behind him, it`s source, the stabiliser panel that had fried itself upon their decent through the charged troposphere & the Ionic storm`s that raged beneath it. The transit down to the planet after they had been forced to abandon ship had been unusually harsh due to that storm & it had resulted in the incapacitation of the presidential aide himself & the death of his adviser, who now lay in a crumpled bloody mess imediately to his right. Instinctively upon noticing her, Unaru reached out to her & tugged at her shoulder in an attempt to rouse her. It was of course no use at all, her neck had been broken & she had heamoraged from within to spew a large amount of blood upon the floor beside her. Her death however had been a mercifully quick one & from that he drew just a little solace before he returned his attention to the flashing indicator once more. Unaru breathed deeply & then closed his eyes to focus himself before attempting in vain to sit up, the broken bones in his lower right leg however imediately caused him to cry out & fall back in agony as the raw ends of the bones themselves cut painfully into the soft flesh from within. The harsh reality was that he was going nowhere until help arrived now, but how long that would be would be a matter left to fate itself, he could only hope that it wouldn`t be too long & that when it finally did arrive, it was in the company of a friendly face. The away team started walking and navigated their way through the rough ground. A deep but small ravine was in their way, but a short walk around it was subsituted. Finally, they came to a small valley, and the haze cleared around them and gave way to a view of a Federation escape pod. Rogers smiled and signaled for his away team to hurry up. All three men started sprinting towards the pod. Once they arrived on it, Rogers entered a command into the keypad near the hatch, and it gave way, revealing a man who was laying down, and a woman with her head and neck in an odd twisted position. "You must be President Nell's aide. I am Lt. Rogers, First officer of the USS Spectre", said the first man to enter the pod.
