"20 cc's of lexorin." ~I'm in engineering. There's an explosion. Is that a cherub caring a hyperspanner? What is that high pitched noise?~ The white light was blinding and Adams took a deep breath inward and sat straight up. Someone was pushing him down and he didn't resist flopping back to the biobed. "He's back, doctor," said a nearby voice. Adams squinted against the bright light. "Who the hell are you? Where am I?" "Calm down, Lieutenant," stated the doctor pushing against him. Adams sat back and blinked a few times before letting himself look around the room he was in. "Galaxy class. Why am I on a Galaxy class starship?" "You are on board the USS Dauntless," stated the doctor. "I'm Doctor Buddharaju. You were being prepped for stasis for transport to Starbase Geneva. I have some experience with comatose patients and recognized the neurological pattern in your brainwaves. I thought I might have a chance of reviving you." "Where's the Paladin?" asked Adams. "The Paladin? I'm not sure..." stated the doctor confused. "I mean the Spectre. Where's the Spectre?" "Heading towards the Sol System in pursuit of the ship that attacked us. Did you know it looked exactly like the Spectre?" "Sounds familiar," responded the dazed engineer. "All I can think of is water. Lots and lots of water." "Sit back, Lieutenant. You are going to need some rest, but I have a feeling you will be okay in a few days." Without much of a choice, Adams sat back and let his mind try to piece together the last few moments he could recall. The group he worked for couldn't afford to have the ETHOS technology slip into Starfleet's hands. From his crouched position behind the Science Station he could see the marines from the Spectre burst onto the bridge. One had rolled out of the turbolift and was only a few feet from his position. Phased bursts of energy sprang from the marines' rifles taking out a few of the crew on the Avenger bridge. A few phaser streams were returned, but soon they were out numbered. It was only a matter of time before the marines overpowered the crew. Grayson crawled over towards the marine at the tactical station and placed a phaser at his neck right under his helmet. "Call off your men or there will be a hole where your head used to be," demanded the Avenger captain. (reply Kowalski, any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Avenger - Bridge – Corporal, Houseman - 15:47) Houseman fired at the closest enemy as his boots slammed into the deck of the bridge. Grayson's cohort crumpled to the ground as Houseman moved forward with the sound of Richards landing behind him. He glanced around, his TACOM identifying the Major and his entrance team. The battle was brutal with phaser beams criss-crossing the bridge in every direction. He ducked behind his cover as the console above him exploded sending a shower of sparks over him. He blinked rapidly to clear his eyes as the face plate darkened quickly. He saw a figure at the far end of the bridge near the door to the Captain’s ready room. His TACOM identified them as an enemy. He recognised it as Captain Grayson. ~There you are~ He stepped out of cover to take a better shot, suddenly he was thrown sideways. His sidearm was flung from his grip as he slammed down hard onto the deck. He turned looking into the face of a Grayson cohort; she had him pinned to the floor. He hesitated for a slit second generations of conditioning about not hitting a woman flashing through his brain. This pause nearly killed him until out of the corner of his eye he saw the flash of silver as the phaser fire reflected on its metal surface. He swivelled his head as far as it would go as the blade sliced inches from his helmet and dug deep into the deck beside him. A flash of surprise came over her face as she twisted her grip to pull the knife out. He brought his hand up hard and caught her in the ear. She reeled back trying to get some kind of equilibrium in her inner ear as Houseman’s fist hammered into her face. She fell backwards, unconscious onto the floor. He pulled himself off the floor and caught site of Grayson and the Major standing close to each other. He saw that Kowalski had a blade pointing at his private parts. ~oow that could be nasty~ He knelt down and yanked the blade out of the deck as he move carefully towards Kowalski and Grayson keeping an eye on the unconscious woman at his feet. (Reply Kowalski, Drake, Grayson, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Avenger - Bridge - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 15:48) Suddenly the phasor exchanges stopped... ~Ah, there you are~ thought Kowalski, just as the business end of a standard issue phasor pressed gently into his neck from behind. Well, that had been a bold move for sure and Kowalski actually allowed himself a half smile at the man's cheek as he raised his III-C into the air in capitulation, his men looking on concerned. His unseen hand though was already low enough towards his leg now to be in reach of his already unfettered blade. Generally, Marines did'nt carry close quarter weapons often these days, no need with the TACOM on hand to deal death and destruction at long range, but useful nonetheless, especially when unexpected. Grayson's voice however was gruff, clearly the man was not military trained being a typical fleeter, but kudos to him for having managed to sneak up as he had, kudos indeed... "Call off your men or there will be a hole where your head used to be," ordered Grayson breathilly. Kowalski's fingers though were already in the process of settling around the black handle protruding from the thick leather scabbard, the hidden thirteen inches of polished, jagged steel moving slowly into the light as he dutily lowered his III-C assault rifle to the floor. Grayson watched, clearly hopeful now that he had some semblance of an upper hand... or so he thought. The next move though had been so quick that the ETHOS vessels CO had not even seen it, the culmination of which now saw the cold razor sharp blade already pressed gently into the mans groin from below, the threads of his uniform already coming apart just slightly to the pressure. "...and the moment that you pull the trigger, is the moment that you begin talking in a high falsetto tone", quipped Kowalski in a calm, unwavering voice as he looked back over his shoulder now into the face of the Captain. "I will be dead yes, but can you really bargain that my death spasms will not slice your... questionable manhood and family jewels neatly into two bloody halves?", he added with a calm, somewhat casual wink. Grayson looked confused for a brief second, and then he suddenly felt the press of the blade against his private parts and his expression changed, just as suddenly... (Reply Grayson) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Bridge – TAC/ASC Ensign Jg Alexandria Smithson – 15:48) While Ensign Taban monitored his console, Alex monitored hers, her Tactical Scans were automatically being relayed to Taban’s console. With the ETHOS vessel now clearly damaged and with marines from the ship aboard, and the fighters from the Mars Defence Perimeter took up formation on either side of the Spectre and waited for any sign of a fight left in their opponent. Suddenly all power went on the ETHOS vessel as it started to spin on its axis "I'm not sure what this means, but I'm reading a build-up in their anti-matter chamber and the plasma conduits around the ship," stated Ensign Fala to the rest of bridge. “This is not good, not good at all, diverting all available remaining power to shields” Alex said suiting actions to words. "Wait a second," he interrupted. "It's gone. No signs of power at all now." “Huh! Now this is curious, hope our boarding team is okay on the ship?” (Reply Any) (Posted by Paul Davies) (USS Spectre - Bridge – Pilot Officer, Smith - 15:48) "Helm, withdraw to One thousand kilometres and hold position", “Aye Sir. Withdraw to One thousand kilometres and hold position.” She entered the course new course and powered up the impulse engines. She watched as the distance grew from the Avenger until they were in position. She held there position at one thousand kilometres but kept the impulse engines and manoeuvring thrusters ready just in case. (Reply Fala, T’Vhor, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Avenger - Bridge - Captain Thomas Grayson - 15:49) Captain Thomas Grayson was desperate to fulfill his mission. He couldn't let the USS Avenger and its ETHOS technology fall into the hands of Starfleet. Getting the upper hand on one of the marines, he plunged his phaser into the marine's neck in the space between his armor and helmet. "Call off your men or there will be a hole where your head used to be," demanded the Avenger captain. A sharp pain started to grow at his groin. With the slightest movement the pain welled deep in his gut. "...and the moment that you pull the trigger, is the moment that you begin talking in a high falsetto tone", stated the marine with a gravely voice. "I will be dead yes, but can you really bargain that my death spasms will not slice your... questionable manhood and family jewels neatly into two bloody halves?" "I...I...I...," was all the words Grayson could get out of his mouth. He could feel a warm liquid run down his leg. He wasn't sure if it was blood or if his bladder had decided it wasn't going to resist any longer. The phaser rolled out of his hand and he raised his hands in the air. (reply Kowalski, any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Spectre - Bridge - Science Officer, Ensign JG Fala Taban - 15:49) There was confusion on the bridge as the crew tried to monitor what was going on over on the ETHOS vessel. There was a build up in the anti-matter system on the ship, but then it stopped. The tactical officer, Ensign Smithson had raised the shields just in case. "Huh! Now this is curious, hope our boarding team is okay on the ship?" stated Smithson. "Agreed," replied Taban nodding towards the tactical officer. "Re-check your readings Ensign, your previous statement is illogical," stated Captain T'Vhor after hearing the science officer's report. "Helm, withdraw to One thousand kilometres and hold position" "I've matched the energy pattern with known energy signatures from Prometheus class starships," replied Ensign Fala. "It appears that a self destruct was sequence was activated and then disabled. Scanning the ship further, I can tell there's a few lifeforms in the engineering section and the rest are concentrated on the bridge. Besides that, the ship is devoid of life. Appears they were running with a minimum crew." (replay T'Vhor, Smithson, any) (posted by Jason French) (USS Avenger - Bridge - MXO, Major Bruce Kowalski - 15:50) Funny that... how cold razor sharp steel could still have the 'edge' over a modern phasor. Either way, the man responsible for sending the Spectre and her crew into the depths of the Vedean sea a week or so ago, was now capitulating in a somewhat, uncharacteristic manner. The only words he had managed to utter had been 'I'... just a few times. Kowalski had not taken his eyes off of the Captain the entire time of course, but the dull thud of the phasor hitting the floor signalled that it was all over. A Marine from beyond immediately advanced to retrieve the dropped weapon, then he took hold of the Captain's tunic and drew him roughly around and up against the wall. The MXO then returned his blade to it's scabbard and stood up. "So does anyone else want to object to our taking of this ship?", he enquired. Nobody reacted, the remaining combatants had simply slumped to the floor, some apparently relieved that this was all at an end now, a few though defiant and steadfast... clearly the Captain's loyal few. "Contact the Spectre, inform them that the ship is secured", said Kowalski turning his attention to Houseman nearby. (Reply Houseman) Kowalski looked about the bridge, and then to the man who had been tasked with overseeing the skullduggery it had been used for. "Send us to the bottom of a god damned ocean would you?", he said, "Let's see how you like swimming with sharks shall we", he added, before addressing the Marine now overseeing the defeated Captain. "Take him back to the Spectre, I'm sure the Captain would like a word or two in his shell like", said the MXO, the Marine responded in the usual clipped manner. "Sir!, Yes Sir!", and Grayson was duly frogmarched away... (Reply Taban) (Reply T'Vhor, Taban, Any) (Posted by Paul Davies) (USS Avenger - Bridge - Marine, Corporal Houseman - 15:53) "Contact the Spectre, inform them that the ship is secured", said Kowalski turning his attention to Houseman nearby. ”Yes Sir.” He stepped back from the group before he activated his helmets communication device. “Corporal Houseman to Spectre” (Reply Spectre) “The Avenger is secured. I repeat the Avenger is secured.” (Reply Spectre) He had overheard Kowalski’s comment about sending the prisoners over. “Yes Sir. We have prisoners request permission to transport them back to the Spectre?” (Reply Spectre) He looked over to the marine who was frogmarching away Grayson and nodded. (Reply Kowalski) (Reply Kowalski, Spectre Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Bridge – CO, Captain T'Vhor – 16:10) And so it had concluded, with Housemans signal that the Avenger had indeed been nullified, it was finally time for the crew to get some hard earned rest and recreation. The mission had taken them into situations few starships ever enter, and not many ever found themselves beneath a planets ocean! The bridge of the Spectre right now though was a hive of activity, reports arriving, status updates having been completed and the inevitable guarding of the hostile vessel until the tugs arrived to tow it to drydock took the remainder of their time. As for Captain Grayson and his crew, they were now safely in custody, the Spectre was now about to dock for much needed repairs also... With an almost uncharacteristic exhale, the Vulcan hybrid CO gave the orders to the helm and to the tactical officer accordingly. "Take us to Earth orbit, signal McKinley for permission to dock" (Reply Helm IYW, Smithson) The ship then swung about and headed back to Earth. (Reply Helm IYW, Smithson, Any) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Bridge – TAC/ASC, Ensign Jg Alexandria Smithson – 16:11) With the Battle now over, and the hostiles in custody, and while they were waiting for the tugs to take the ETHOS ship into dock, the Vulcan/Human Captain gave an uncharacteristic sigh. "Take us to Earth orbit, signal McKinley for permission to dock" “Yes Sir contacting McKinley for docking permission Captain” Alex said suddenly feeling very tired indeed. (Reply Helm IYW) The ship then swung about and headed back to Earth. After a moment of conversing, “Sending the docking data to Helm Captain, and a message from Starfleet” She said accessing the low priority message. (Reply Smithson) (Reply Smithson, Any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Bridge – CO, Captain T'Vhor – 16:20) =/\=This is McKinley control to USS Spectre, umbilicals are standing by for lockup and you are cleared to dock=/\= The announcement from McKinley's Ops officer was probably one of the most welcome that the Spectre's bridge officers had received in quite some time and a few smiles were expressed in connection with it. As for the Captain, he quickly accessed his armrest controls briefly, then he replied to the communication accordingly. "Proceeding to dock as planned, telemetry concurs with station readiness and we are ready for hand off", said the Captain. =/\=Welcome home Spectre, the kettle is boiling... McKinley out=/\= came the somewhat cryptic reply. The Captain turned briefly to the First Officer beside him, a puzzled look upon his face. "The kettle is boiling?", he enquired. (Reply Williams) "I see", said the Captain as he then began the docking procedures as the ship squared up to McKinleys now flashing markers as the ship approached. "Slow to fifty metres per second", ordered the Captain. "Prepare for computer hand off" (Reply Helm) The ship then moved into the docking cradle, the latters now outstretched umbilicals moving outwards in response to the approaching ships presence, like strange, organic tentacles seeking out their various counterparts. The automatic control systems then handed back control to the Spectre's helm and the Captain settled back into his chair to begin the final latch up. "Maneuvering thrusters at station keeping please, four metres per second, prepare for umbilical lockup on my mark", said the Captain. (Reply Helm, IYW) T'Vhor then paused briefly, turning towards the FO seated beside him once again. "Inform the crew that I am authorizing extended shore leave to all who may wish to take advantage of it", he said returning his attention then back to the viewscreen, in order to oversee the proceedings. "I believe that they have earned it", he added, almost as an afterthought. This was one of the most complicated procedures even with all the computer assistance. "Manoeuvring thrusters at station keeping please, four metres per second, prepare for umbilical lockup on my mark" ”Aye sir Manoeuvring thrusters are at station keeping forward motion is four metres per second.” At the Captain’s command she tapped in the command as the umbilical locked on to the Spectre as she came to a halt. (Reply Any) (Posted by Robbie) =================================================================== Mission: Docked Day: 1 Stardate: 2414.01.08 (USS Spectre - Captain's Quarters - CO, Captain T'Vhor & Ambassador T'Hara Jotal - 17:52) The Captain was now seated at his desk, a console open before him. Upon that console was the face of a Romulan male, and apparently one of considerable standing if the robes he wore meant anything at all. This of course was T'Hara Jotal, past Proconsul to the Romulan senate and now serving as an Ambassador to the Galactic Cooperative. In Romulan circles he was indeed one of note, for how else would he have been elected to the position of Ambassador had he not been? Outside of those circles however, he was often met with a certain, perhaps, unwarranted distrust, it was he that had swayed the senate against an all out first strike at the Federation during the civil war years after all... and yet, still the distrust remained. The Romulan's manner today was, as it often was, one of quiet discord. Something was on his mind and he clearly needed to discuss it, and who better than to engage with than the ally he had made all those years beforehand at that most critical juncture when worlds could have been at war! Indeed, it was not unheard of for the Ambassador to speak with the Spectre's Captain on occasions, such was their 'trust' of one another. =/\=There is... something, something not right here=/\= offered Jotal, his head bowing slightly now. "In what way not right?", asked the Captain, his own hand now encircling a glass of fruit juice upon the table, and then bringing it to his lips. =/\=I'm not sure. Call me a paranoid delussionalist but... I'm smelling Rat's Captain, and I'm not talking of the type found on Earth either. These are somewhat.... cloaked and insidious Rats=/\= The Captain took a sip of his drink and then placed the glass upon the table before responding. "That would be entirely illogical Ambassador, Rat's are incapable of cloaking themselves", said the Captain dryly. =/\=It's an analogy Captain, but the analogy fit's nonetheless.... You remember the Sulia Madon debacle on Geneva, the parasitic bugs?=/\= said Jotal, a look of disgust forming upon his face as he uttered the words. The Captain took a deep breath and then nodded his agreeance, before once again reaching for his glass. "I remember, an attempt to take control of the station's heirarchical command structure with the intent to gain access to fleet command itself", stated the Captain. "A daring, and perhaps bold plan", he added. =/\=Precisely. And I think that it's possibly happening again=/\= said the Ambassador, his own hand now reaching to a glass of his own outside of the console's frame. "Within the Galactic Cooperative?", enquired T'Vhor, his interest piqueing slightly now. Jotal simply nodded and then quenched his own thirst before placing the then empty glass back onto the table. =/\=Within the Galactic Cooperative=/\= he mirrored.... The Captain pondered this for a moment or two, reflecting on what that could possibly mean to the Federation at this time. The Subspace river network was vastly evolved now, and with the GC now controlling overall access to it.... he could see Jotal's concern. "What proof, if any, do you have on this matter?", asked the Captain. =/\=None really, uttered words, heresay and unusual behaviour from those I once trusted, but now no longer do=/\= said the Ambassador. =/\=It stinks of a plot of some kind, and the change in character exhibited by some GC members is.... unusual=/\= he added. The Captain nodded again, it certainly did bear hallmarks of a sort. "This is nothing that we can act on immediately Jotal, this would require more thorough investigation. Perhaps then we could act in a positive manner based on proper empirical data", said the Captain. This time it was the Ambassador's turn to nod, clearly in agreeance of the Captain obvious logic. =/\=In the meantime though, the infiltration, if any, becomes deeper until..... =/\= The Ambassador suddenly fell silent, it was not that he was stuck for words, it was more as though he could not continue. Then he began again, confirming the Captain's assumption. =/\=I cannot discuss this any further right now=/\= said Jotal, somewhat hurried, =/\=We shall speak again soon, in the meantime I have work to do.... Enjoy your shore leave Captain, I'm hearing that you and your crew have been on a difficult mission and are in need of it=/\= "Indeed", said the Captain in his usual clipped Vulcan tone. Jotal then said his goodbye's and the screen returned to the familiar Starfleet logo, the Captain settling back into his chair now, his mind clearly on the matter of the Geneva affair and Madon in particular. ~Surely, it cannot be~ (Reply None) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Brig, Holding Cell - Marine, Corporal Houseman - 17:55) Houseman looked at the woman in the cell in front of him. This was the woman who had commanded the assault on the ship and had then hidden herself as part of the crew just to get close to the FO. She was also the FO’s sister and he knew not to take any chances with Audrey Williams who was as dangerous as they come. “Prisoner will stand.” Audrey stood up from the bed. “Turn and face the wall with your hands on the wall.” Houseman watched as Audrey turned and placed her hands on the wall. He nodded to the two marines beside him who leveled their phaser at her as Houseman lowered the force field. He stepped in carefully not to block the other marines line of fire as he applied the restraints. Once he was happy that Audrey was secure he stepped back and ushered Audrey out of the cell. He tapped his commbadge and they paused as the other marines in the detail took up their positions. “Corporal Houseman to Commander Williams” (Reply Williams) “Commander I am part of the security detail transferring the prisoner. He also needed to keep himself busy as he waited for star fleet security to move Audrey to a more secure location for her sentencing. A message blinked at him from his console. He accessed it and glanced at it. He had made a search request for a Commander Jay who had been his room mate when he was at the academy. She had gotten the promotion to commanding officer of a small but speedy courier ship just before the 52nd fleet had been catapulted into the future. He had not been able to see her since that experience and had decided as they had time, he would try and track her down and find out where she was. The message said that she was in the medical wing of Starfleet Medical as an in-patient. ~Wow what has happened to you Jay~ There was not much more information about her condition so he sent a patient request to the medical wing to see if he could get any more information. Alex put on a sad pouty face “Yes daddy” Gavin Smithson was thrown for a curve ~Women still baffles me to this day~ He thought, but continued on as if nothing was wrong. =/\= When will you be home? =/\= “Give me time to freshen up and put on a fresh uniform, been doing bridge duty and the Spectre took some hits so I am none too clean, I will be home as soon as is humanly possible ok dad?” She said. Gavin Smithson could only nod =/\= Okay hon will see you when I see you, Smithson out =/\= He said closing the link. (Reply None) (Posted by Paul Davies) (Earth - Senator Smithson’s Office – Senator Smithson And CO, Captain T'Vhor - 18:05) After speaking to his daughter, Gavin got his Aide to hail the Spectre and put him through to the Captain’s Ready Room. After a short time a Vulcan/Betazoid Starfleet Captain appeared. “Greeting Captain T’Vhor, it is a pleasure to meet you, my Daughter holds you in high esteem, judging from her last letter.” The Captain quirked his head slightly at the communiqué, it had come through on a secure diplomatic channel and had been both unexpected, and a tad confusing. =/\=Your daughter? May I ask you, who exactly are you?=/\= enquired the Captain uncertain now just who it was that he was speaking to. “Forgive my lack of etiquette I am Senator Gavin Smithson, my Daughter is Ensign Alexandria Smithson, I believe that she was assigned to your Command” He said, and it was not a question. The Captain relaxed somewhat and then nodded, the explanation fitting with the facts, and it went without saying that Vulcan’s 'liked' facts. =/\=you are correct Senator; Ensign Smithson was indeed assigned to the Spectre.=/\= he enquired. “That being the Case Captain, how did Alex do on her first time? I understand she was some of the replacements. Also, if you must know my Daughter does not impress easily, the fact that she speaks highly of you says something” He paused. The Captain nodded again, still uncertain as to exactly why the senator had chosen to call him on a secure channel if the only subject of discussion was to be his own daughter. =/\= Forgive me senator, is there a particular reason that you have chosen to make this communiqué? =/\= asked the Captain... “Yes I am inviting you and your partner to a diplomatic function at Starfleet HQ in San Francisco, so Captain I am offering you and your partner an invite to this function, the invite is coming to you on a sub-channel as we speak it will be for you Plus One.” ~Plus One, what does that mean exactly?~ No doubt the senator would elaborate somewhat shortly... =/\=I see. However, I cannot just choose to attend any function that is offered, without first knowing a little about why I have been invited=/\= said the Captain, an eyebrow rising now in typical Vulcan fashion. “Understandable Captain, but how often does a Starfleet Captain get invited to a high class diplomatic function? There will be high ranking Vulcan senators here to, as well as some Betazoids, so should you attend you will have peers to speak to if you so wish.” Gavin responded. The Captain remained un-expressive, his unemotional and cold logic dealing with the situation as ever, in a completely Vulcan way. It seemed that the senator had sidestepped the query and so, the Captain asked again. =/\=You would be surprised at how often it does occur. I must reiterate though, is there a matter on your mind that requires my presence over anyone else’s?. Apart from the fact that I am your daughters commanding officer that is.=/\= “Oh! I thought it would be...” He paused thinking in a way to put it so the Vulcan would appreciate his offer. “...that it would be logical if you saw how Alexandria was in familiar surroundings, as I know from experience that she was like a fish out of water at the Academy, I can only guess she had some rough patches on your last mission. One cannot judge or assess any new crew member in full if their backgrounds are totally different to the graduates that normally pass out of the Academy” He paused as he looked at the Vulcan, cleared his throat “Then again Captain you might know what I am on about, anyway in case you are wondering about the Plus One, it is the old way of saying you plus your partner” He finished. The Captain looked briefly to the chronometer on the wall, noting that he had less than an hour now to attend to some important matters at Starfleet HQ, then he returned his gaze the viewscreen once more. The senator had mentioned Starfleet headquarters already, but he had yet to give him the most important detail of time. Perhaps this was something that dignitaries just assumed were common knowledge... perhaps not. =/\=I see, I do not have a partner at this time senator so, the 'plus one' is an unnecessary consideration=/\= said the Captain, pausing now to look into the void that had been created by the death of his wife so many years beforehand. Then he resumed once more... =/\=I am afraid that I cannot give a definitive answer at this time without the all important variable of time senator, it is common Practice after a ships mission to attend to certain matters pertaining to that mission, but if time allows, then I may be available=/\= “That is understandable Captain, however, if you wish to attend the invite an offer is there, it will be a formal dress occasion, the time will be 2000 hours Earth Time at Starfleet HQ San Francisco. So Captain T’Vhor if you and whomever you wish to bring would care to make an attendance, you are more than welcome to do so.” The Captain nodded graciously and then thanked the senator for his kind offer before returning to the subject of his daughter, Ensign Smithson. =/\=In answer to your previous query senator.... your Daughter has turned out to be a valuable member of my crew. She can be... I believe that the word is 'feisty', but she handled the mission well and performed her bridge duties admirably. I am glad to be her commanding officer=/\= “Well, that’s a nice thing to hear Captain, I thank you for that kindness, I am glad she done her job. I do not if you know this, but Alex is fully trained in Klingon combat with all of their bladed weapons, she dropped her next levels to join Starfleet. Anyway I digress apologies, this is not what this call is about” Gavin said graciously, then leaning forward slightly “also Captain on another Sub-channel are plans for a ship based Advanced form of Tachyon detection grid, it works in the same way as the older ones, but its more powerful and uses half the power, it has some kinks in it, but perhaps your engineering team can work those kinks out and put it to good use. All I am asking Captain is that your Engineers take a look at the plans, this is all above board, it was passed to me by a Romulan scientist in exile in Klingon space where I have influence, I do not know why he is there or how, but as you know I am one of the Federation Ambassadors to the Klingon Empire, I have made some worthy Allies who sit on the Klingon High Council and these plans were given to me with one instruction” He paused. ~And so we cut to the chase~ thought the Captain, realizing now that the invite carried with it, an ulterior motive. =/\=And that instruction is?=/\= answered the Captain, expectantly. “That I give them to a Starship Captain, who I deemed worthy, and you Captain are that person” He said with a mysterious smile, bordering on roguish. =/\=I am honoured senator, honoured that you consider me worthy of such trust. Surely though, this would be better going directly to Starfleet HQ, I mean, what do you stand to gain from this venture?=/\= “Well I only ask one thing in return regarding those plans, if when your engineers solve all those problems, you send an updated copy of the plans to Starfleet Engineering so that they can start putting the Tachyon Sensor Suite in all Starships. Best thing is this Tachyon detection device can be fitted to the older class ships too, but would be more effective on the new ships coming into service. Please do not ask me for engineering particulars, I am an ex-Starfleet Marine Corps Colonel not an Engineer,” Gavin finished and studied T’Vhor closely. The Captain paused, allowing the information to settle in so to speak. It seemed somewhat an unusual request to say the very least, a little 'cloak and dagger' perhaps given the mention of an exiled Romulan scientist... and politicians rarely did anything that did not provide themselves with a substantial advantage somewhere along the lines. What was it that Senator Smithson required? A Starfleet Captain in his pocket perhaps? The Captain answered in the only way he knew, logical, precise and to the point. =/\=I will give this matter some consideration=/\= said the Captain bluntly. =/\=In the interim, I would like to thank you for your offer to me to attend the function. I will no doubt be in touch before the time is due=/\= “One more thing if you will Captain?!” Gavin asked. =/\=Of course, please...=/\= said the Captain, offering the senator the chance to add what he wished. “Could I ask you a personal favour Captain, it will allow things to remain as they are, but it is a personal favour Captain.” The Captain nodded, sure now that the word 'personal' would probably involve his daughter in some manner. “Could you keep as best an eye on Alex for me Captain please? She is good around similar people of her Social station, but can be, to use the human term, she has a tendency to be blunt, and put both feet in her mouth. It will not hinder her Diplomatic ability, or job, but she can say some things that could seem a little like condescending, she does not mean it, but she had some trouble like this as she was going for her Entrance test to Starfleet Academy . If you can do this for me Captain, I would owe you one” He said with a poker face. =/\=Of course senator, I fully understand the Human idiom of 'putting feet into one's own mouth', indeed there have been one or two occasions already that Alex has done just that=/\= said the Captain, remembering a few times that Ensign Smithson overstepped a mark or two. =/\=Rest assured though, that she is in good hands on the Spectre, and every attempt will be made to prevent her feet from going anywhere near her mouth again=/\= “Thank You Captain T’Vhor, thank you for your time and patience” He said, this signalled the end of the Conversation. Both men then said their respective goodbyes, and the console screen returned to it's standby logo... For some reason Starfleet security had decided to transport Audrey via shuttle to earth rather then just transport her, but his was not the reason why. “Corporal could I have a word with the prisoner before you hand her over?” Houseman nodded but the Security Lieutenant took a step forward. “Sir no one is aloud to speak to the prisoner while in transport, Admiral’s orders.” Andrew turned to the Lieutenant. “Lieutenant all I want is two minutes.” The Lieutenant shook his head. “No Sir.” Andrew was about to say something but another voice spoke up. “Don’t worry Andrew. I am not on my own any more. I have you. We are a family again” She gave a smile that lit up her face and Andrew tried to find something to say, but it chocked in his mouth so he just nodded. She had not been able to get immediate shore leave but was able to leave in the morning. This meant that she had do post mission diagnostics on most of the main system. She did not mind as she had been able to catch up with an old friend from Pacifica who had invited her to do some exploring on the great barrier reef. She glanced around her water filled quarters and smiled to herself. It will be nice to get out into deep water again and feel the tug of the ocean currents against her scales. Even though the engineers who had adapted her quarters had tried hard to recreate the effects of the ocean there was nothing quite like the real thing. She fastened her helmet and checked that there were no breaches in the suits seals and she then floated over to the hatch that formed the airlock system that stopped the rest of the deck being flooded every time she opened the door to her quarters. She sipped her cocktail and felt the sea breeze blow across her exposed arms and legs. ~Ow I needed this~ She absentmindedly ran her fingers through the sand feeling it run through her fingers. There were sounds of other people using the beach but noise drifted into the back ground as she took in the sound of the waves lapping against the beach in front of her. As usual the hospital was understaffed and Dr. Sierra had asked him to stop by and help. Based on the conversation L’Risa thought he would be there no more than an hour or two and that is what he had told the medical staff on the Spectre before he left. He had arrived just after 1700 the day before and now it was 0410. There had been crisis after crisis. L’Risa was exhausted. If he had been thinking about it, he might have just hit his comm badge and been transported to the ship, but he decided to take a walk on the waterfront. He thanked Sierra for his hospitality and was thanked in return and then he left. He did not notice, at least at first, that he was being followed. He had been walking for about half an hour when his senses picked up something unusual in the air. He stopped and sniffed a few times and thought he smelled Cardassians and they were very close. He started to turn around to investigate when he felt a metallic object pressed against the back of his neck. If he had been human he would have observed that was cold, regardless he knew what it was phaser. “Doctor, your services are needed, you must accompany us.” “And if I refuse?” “Then you’re one dead cat’ L ‘Risa’s hand was in his pocket and he surrepticously hit his comm badge. Two of the three Cardassians turned to face the source of that voice, their hands defiantly by their sides, grim expressions on their faces, It was obvious that one to them had been wounded, burn marks on his shoulder and a partially disintegrated tunic. The third looked over his shoulder at the group that stood behind him. If he had any fear, it was not showing. The Cardassian smirked at them, “My phaser is set on kill. Put your weapons down, or I will vaporize the good doctor.” he said. With the attention of the Cardassian temporarily diverted, L’Risa acted on instinct. He whirled around and grabbed the Cardassian’s wrist, attempting to twist the phaser out of his hand. The Cardassian was taken by surprise but he was far stronger than L’Risa expected and the phaser was now pointed just inches away from his face. He was managing to keep the Cardassian from firing, but he wasn’t sure how long he could keep it up. In the meantime the crowd began to scatter as the other two drew their weapons. (Reply None) (Posted by Paul Davies) (Earth – Wales, Shopping Centre – TAC/ASC Ensign Jg Alexandria Smithson – 09:00) Alex had arrived and began her shopping, she found little of interest until she came to a vintage Retro shop that sold all kinds of old items, going in she saw some clothes she liked, some were cocktail gowns and all had matching shoes. “Can I help you miss?” he asked, it was a Ferengi. Alex looked at the shop assistant, “why yes, yes you can, do you have this red cocktail dress in a size 10 and a pair of size seven shoes?” Alex responded. The shop assistant, smelling a sale, nodded and went off to get the requested items, quickly returning with items in hand. “Do you have a changing room?” Alex asked. The Ferengi nodded and pointed to the right cubicle. “Without spy cameras” Alex said giving him the look that always shut her brother and Father up when used. The Ferengi quickly pointed to the left cubicle. “Thank you” She responded and entered the cubicle. Twenty minutes later dressed in her day wear again and dress and shoes in hand. “I will take it, how much?” She asked. “One Bar and Five strips of Latinum” He offered. “One Bar Two Strips” She began to bargain, The Ferengi smiled, a challenge he liked and a human who knew how to haggle was a rare commodity on earth. “One Bar Four Strips.” “One Bar.” This went on for some time; Alex went down as Five Strips, when the Ferengi made his final offer. “One Bar Final offer” He said. “Sorry Nine Bars, my Final Offer” Alex said with finality. Weighing up the bills he had, the Nine Bars would extend his payback period, and perhaps another human more easily duped would buy something. Finalizing the purchase and putting the dress and shoes into a bag, Alex thanked him and left the store. ~Ferengi’s~ she thought to herself. As she walked along the high street, she saw a new Klingon Café, going in she recognized the owner. “Commander Krelok how are you?” She asked in surprise. The grizzled old Klingon looked up as he shifted his weight off his injured leg and scrutinized the human, he recognised her and a smile came to his lips as he greeted her by giving her a bear hug. “Alex, it is good to see you” He said breaking away as the human straightened up her clothes and studied him. “So who did you upset to get cashiered out of the KDF Commander?” She asked. “It is Commander no more, when you get badly injured in combat and do not die the Empire frowns on that, so I got an honourable dismissal from the KDF” He explained, “Now what can I do for you?” “A table please and a plate of your Gagh and large mug of Blood wine” She said. The Klingon smiled and showed her to a free table “you order will be along shortly” He said. Alex nodded as the Klingon left she sorted out her bags, suddenly a tall shadow was standing over her, wrong that was two shadows, both were Nausicaan. (Reply None) (Posted by Paul Davies) (Earth – Wales, Shopping Centre – Civilian, Armat D'Sall – 09:03) Now, that seemed somewhat odd. Klingons did not normally embrace Human's with such obvious gusto and Armat found himself wondering why that might be. Apart from the fact that the woman was tall, she did not seem to be too strong and yet she had borne the bearhug with ease. Armat found that 'interesting'... Clearly the two knew one another, but their banter was not clear due to D'Sall's distance from them. There was a clear mention of the KDF though, which was interesting again. Armat sipped at his beer, his head bowed but his eyes still looking to the woman at the table as the Klingon departed. Armat pondered her background. ~Hmm, Security perhaps. Clearly either military or Starfleet despite the lack of a uniform~ It was then that she was joined by two Nausicanns! Nausicaan's of course, were not noted for their tact and it seemed that they were not here to simply buy her a drink. In general, wherever there were Nausicaan's, there was trouble, and Armat could only wonder now what it was that they might want with her. The woman simply placed her bag aside, a smile playing upon her face as she looked up at them. ~Ahh, a woman with a little bite~ thought Armat, ~...yes, definately Starfleet then~ Armat took another sip of his beer and then stood from his chair, a hand reaching backwards to unhook the strap of his shoulder bag from the chairback as he did so. He took a deep breath, drew the weathered strap over his shoulder, and then ambled over towards where the woman sat. The Nausicaan's just stood there. Armat cleared his throat. "Ah em", he said, casting a glance to the two Neanderthaal's. "I'm sorry I'm late my love, a little distracted at the bazarre... but here now", he added looking to the woman with a smile, and just a little hope now that she would buy into the ruse. But the Nausicaan's had already started! ~Hello, here we go~ (Reply Smithson, Any) (Posted by Alan) (Earth – Wales, Shopping Centre – TAC/ASC, Ensign Alexandria Smithson – 09:09) Alex had just begun to get settled and then looked up to see these two Nausicaan’s standing over her. “You Human, you are in our seat” The First one said, his partner just grunted. Alex took stock of this and stood up, undoing her jacket as she did then put her hands behind her back in a Starfleet pose. She saw her Klingon friend Bat’Leth ready, she gave him a sly wink, as he hand found the collapsible quarterstaff on the back of her belt, and the main part was about 10 inches long while in a compact sate, now with it securely in her hand. “Your name is not on the table Nausicaan; go find another table, the Host of this place gave me this spot to sit.” She said. “Human’s should not be in here, it is for warriors” The First one said. From his place at the counter and in a place where the majority were Klingon’s all watching a Red headed human female stand up to two Nausicaans who were much larger than her in mass. Not one Klingon missed what she did behind her back. But it was deathly quiet in the Klingon Café Krelok spoke up. “Nausicaan that is no normal human, you would be wise to find another table” Krelok said. During this time someone else came closer and stepped into her Peripheral vision, he was Human/Bajoran, but his Human heritage was more evident than his Bajoran one, he still had the Bajoran nose ridges, but they were not as pronounced, while the Nausicaans were exchanging words with Krelok the new comer spoke. “Ah em”, he said, casting a glance to the two Neanderthal’s. “I'm sorry I'm late my love, a little distracted at the bazaar... but here now”, he added looking to the woman with a smile, and just a little hope now that she would buy into the ruse. Alex looked at him gave him a wink and a smile that said back off, he hand with the collapsible quarterstaff was now down at her side as the Klingon had finished talking and he looked at her left hand and hid a smile. The Nausicaans faced Alex again saw a new arrival. Pushing him away “Get away half-breed” The First Nausicaan said as the new arrival went flying backwards. Alex looked at Krelok and shrugged in resignation. “Well you cannot say the Klingon did not give you fair warning” She said as her left hand was angled so that the expanding weapon would be easier to strike with. *Snick, Swish* The sound of the Collapsible quarterstaff fully extending, the Nausicaans snapped their heads around quickly, but were slow to react as the Second one went flying backwards as the staff whirled through the air, the First Nausicaan took a swing, Alex ducked and brought the staff up hard between the aliens legs, his eye’s widened in shock as his hand went to the spot below his belt. Suddenly the room erupted in cheers from the Klingon’s as a human female did damage, the first Nausicaan emitting a cry of utter pain collapsed to his knees, here Alex’s knee met his face putting him out of the fight. The Second Nausicaan now fully recovered went on the offensive, the area around the combatants quickly cleared as Alex used every single Martial art move she knew, a few times she received a punch or a knife scratch, and needless to say she began to feel her injuries. ~Dang this guy is good ~ she thought as she sparred, suddenly seeing an opening for a dirty tactic, she took it. The Second Nausicaan went down with a hard fall and remained there, Alex breathing heavily looked up and took a bow in response to the cheers from the Klingon’s, all knew who her father was and who she was. “Geeze that fight was tough” She said walking over to the poor guy that tried to help and got knocked flat on his behind for his troubles *Snick, Swish* the same sound again as Alex collapsed the staff and held her hand out to the hybrid. “C’mon up you come” She said with a smile. (Reply Armat S’all) “Well it was a nice table you know,” She said then looked at Krelok as both sat at her table “A Bloodwine for my friend here, and a round on me for all the Warriors in this Tavern” She said and a loud cheer went up from the other patrons. Krelok nodded as another waiter brought her Gagh and two Bloodwines, as she began to eat she looked up at the kind person who tried to help. “So what is your name kind stranger?” She asked. (Reply Armat S’all) (Posted by Paul Davies) (Earth – Wales , Shopping Centre – Civilian, Armat D'Sall – 09:11) D'Sall awoke with a start, and a dull pain in the back of his head with the woman from beforehand standing over him and offering him her hand. "C’mon up you come", she said cheerilly. ~Well, there's gratitude for you~ Thought Armat somewhat grogilly. Actually, he was at a slight disadvantage right now for this should not really have happened at all, the Bajoran resistance was'nt exactly a place noted for developing fighters that would be knocked out so soon in a conflict, indeed, Armat was not exactly a pushover by anyone's standards either. An unfortunately placed rock upon the floor though had been the precursor to the pain now resonating in his skull, and the cause of that surprise knockout. Whatever fight had just occured he had not been party to of course, for the Nausicaans shove had taken him somewhat by surprise, and now here was this woman reaching down for him... and the Nausicaans were gone! Armat took the offered hand and then hauled himself up, noting as he did so the Klingon now seated at the table. "Pleased to meet you", said D'Sall with a huff and a sideways glance, then he took a seat himself as the Klingon grunted something whilst the mystery woman ordered him a bloodwine for his troubles, much to the delight of the other Klingons assembled around the bar! Armat shook his head and then rubbed at his still aching skull. ~Klingons~ "So, what is your name kind stranger?", asked the woman. "Armat", replied D'Sall, "Armat D'Sall. Pleased to meet you also.... I think", he added with a furrow of his brow. He asked for directions at the entrance and headed down the corridor to the ward. He entered the long ward. It was like any other surgical ward he had seen with patients in their own rooms and all patients vitals logged into the nurses station. He stepped over to one of the nurses who were working at a console at the nurses station. “Good morning. I would like to visit your patient in room 22. Is that okay?” The nurse nodded and pointed in the direction of the room. Andrew thanked her and headed to the room. The room was identical to the other rooms in the ward. Big enough to fit a toilet and shower off to one side, a small sofa, a desk and chair and of course the bed. In the bed lay the figure he was looking for, he had not seen her since before the five year jump. From what he had worked out a lot had happened to her since then. He could hear her breathing softly as he saw her chest rise and fall with each breath. He turned and was about to leave when he heard a voice emanating from the bed. “Oi I’m not dead yet. Get back here.” A grin spread across Andrew’s face as he turned back to Jay. They had been cadets together where their friendship had started. He had always been the butt of her practical jokes but they had been strong friends for a long time. “Well from what I have heard you should have been dead.” A smile crossed her face as she sat up in bed. “Are you sure you should be getting up and around in your condition.” Her reply was indicated as he ducked the viciously thrown pillow. “I’ll show you condition. I’ll come over and kick you backside through the bulkhead.” She swung her legs over the side of the bed. Andrew held up his hands in a sign of surrender and smiled. “Okay don’t hurt me. I know how much you like gratuitous violence.” Jay let out a groan as she stood up and wobbled. Andrew was by her side in two strides and grabbed her before she collapsed onto the floor. “Ow look my knight in shining armour.” They both sat down, she sighed and rolled her eyes. “You know how much I hate being in here.” Andrew grinned. “You’re a doctor. You spend your career in hospitals.” She gave him a scowl. “Yes, but that does not mean I like being a patient.” She got up, steadied herself and headed for the door. He walked after Jay with her patient gown barely concealing her backside as she headed out the door. “I am getting out of here right now.” ~Ow this should be fun to see~ (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) (Earth – Star Fleet Medical, Cafeteria - FO, Commander, Andrew Williams – 12:00) Andrew looked across the table at where Jay was sitting. After getting changed and a short argument with the on duty doctor, they were free. “Feeling better now?” Jay smiled. “Yes it is good to get out.” Andrew took another spoon full of the soup he had ordered. “The last I heard was from the letter you sent me and you were the Captain of the Road Runner. But obviously a lot has happened since then.” Jay became serious and nodded. “It was a few weeks after our five year jump. We were transporting a secure data assignment when we were attacked. The ship was heavily damaged on the verge of disintegration. We jumped to warp as the ship crumbled around us. The data core went into melt down and wiped all the secure information as it was supposed to but I was hit trying to save one of the marines and knocked unconscious. I woke up a month later and had to spend a month in rehab, by that time the ship was repaired and in command of my XO. The Bluebird class is a modular design so it was only a matter of swapping the damaged components.” She took a bite from her beef burrito before carrying on. “My ship has a new captain and another assignment so I was left on my own. Before I could feel totally sorry for myself I was met by an Admiral Birdsong from Starfleet’s Diplomatic Corps special operations department. He wanted a liaison officer to the Breen Confederation. They had been gaining ground at building links between the Federation and the Breen Confederation. I was assigned to the BCSS Kodess under a commanding officer called Pred Gal.” She gave a little grin. “It has been an interesting assignment as the Kodess is assigned to the hazardous support squadron of the 7th tactical fleet. We get the immensely dangerous and perilous missions. It is definably not boring.” Andrew nodded. “It sounds that you are enjoying the Kodess.” She snorted “What! I’m living in a fridge, always looking forward to a hot shower…” A smile crossed her face. “… but apart from those small inconveniences it’s a good assignment. The crew are very good and Gal is an excellent commander.” They ordered their main course from the menu as the conversation turned to Andrew. He paused when Jay asked the question he had been waiting for since they had met up. He then started to relate what had happened during the last mission and his sisters participation in it.
