Will said in a whisper, trying to change the subject. (Reply Williams) "It's just since the accident, some of the crew has been distant, and sometimes I get paranoid. Like I dunno. Like there are eyes everywhere staring at me." (reply Williams) "Like they are judging me. Like I am some sort of interloper. A grave robber." (reply Williams) "It's probably just anxiety. I dunno, I get that sometimes. No paranoia, just anxiety. Before the Phantom incident, I was ordered to attend weekly counseling sessions, something to do with adjusting to ship life. I guess the original kept up his sessions, but maybe, especially with the change, I should follow up on those orders." It wouldn't be long before they departed but as he was cleaning up his desk, he had an alert to say several new members of the crew had transported aboard. His terminal displayed the information of the new arrivals when he door buzzer sounded. Automatically, the First Officer allowed entry. An officer stood before him wearing the yellow uniform and a new pip on their collar. It was clear, this was someone new to the ship. "Who do we have here?", asked the Bajoran looking up at the new arrival. Ensign (Jg) Wang announced himself and Remae accessed his service record. "Welcome aboard Ensign.", he said smiling and sitting back in his seat. "Excellent timing, we're about to depart on our new mission. It's a little complicated and you've just missed the briefing we've had. However, simply put, the Spectre was just refitted for speed. In our new interceptor configuration, we'll be heading towards Starbase 39-Sierra. The crew are infected with a parasite. Also, a starship, the USS Tempest is under control of a criminal known as Sulia Madon.", Remae said without stopping for breath. He had mentioned the mission to so many people so often that it was now automatic. "Ensign, we're going to investigate that base and find the Tempest.", he added. "Okay, find your quarters, dump your stuff and report to the Bridge for departure... any questions Ensign?", asked the FO... (Reply from Wang if any questions) "Very well, dismissed.", he said returning to his terminal. (Reply from Wang, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (Station - USS Spectre - SEC/TAC, Ensign JG Kedar Dallin – 12:00) Dallin finished his lunch, took one last look around the promenade of the station, and headed for the Spectre. As he approached the entry to the Spectre, he paused, “Here we go,” he said taking a few deep breaths and shaking off nerves that grew as he approached the door. One last deep breath he entered the ship, paused to gather his bearings, and merged with the flow of people in the hall. Stepping into the turbolift he confidently, yet nervously said, “Bridge.” Minutes later he stepped off the lift onto the bridge and familiar hum of the bridge activity. Kedar looked around and spotted the Captains ready room. “Time to check in,” he said to himself as he paused at the door and awaited permission to enter. (TAG Captain) (posted by Leigh Rachal) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 12:10) Remae was on the Bridge, preparing the ship for its eventual departure when he spotted a new Bajoran arrival head for the Ready Room. He headed down to intercept the Ensign. "Ensign. I am afraid the CO isn't in his Ready Room. I am the First Officer, Lt Remae Ktell. Can I help you?", he asked Security Officer. Ensign Dallin explained that he was a new arrived, reporting in for the first time. "I see.", said the FO and he pointed towards the aft conference room and beckoned the Ensign to follow. (Reply None) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Conference Room - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 12:15) "Have a seat Ensign. I am afraid the CO is currently indisposed on other duties but let me welcome you aboard.", said the Bajoran, with a smile. Remae explained the mission, what they was going to do with the Starbase, finding the Tempest and locating the cause of the parasite. "We're trying to get permission to depart, so your timing is excellent. We'd like all senior officers not at their duty positions to be on the Bridge until after depart, so head to the Security Station on the Bridge and prepare for departure. Any questions Ensign?", asked Remae. (Any follow up questions can go here) "Very well, dismissed.", he said now standing and heading back out the door. It slid open and he waited for Ensign Dallin to leave, once he did, Remae followed close behind and back onto the Bridge. (Reply from Dallin, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Conference Room - TAC/SEC, Kedar Dallin - 12:16) "We're trying to get permission to depart, so your timing is excellent. We'd like all senior officers not at their duty positions to be on the Bridge until after depart, so head to the Security Station on the Bridge and prepare for departure. Any questions Ensign?", asked Remae. "Actually my first name is Dallin and my sir name is Kedar as is our tradition," he said nodding to his fellow Bajoran. "I haven't been assigned quarters yet. I'll leave my bag in here until my shift is over and I can find out where I'm bunking." "Very well, dismissed.", he said now standing and heading back out the door. It slid open and he waited for Ensign Dallin to leave, once he did, Remae followed close behind and back onto the Bridge. Dallin nodded a thanks to the FO as he let him exit first dropping his bag next to the door on the way out. Kedar made his way to the security station and gave a smile to the other tactical/security officer at the other security station. "Anything exciting going on?" he asked looking over the station and getting his bearings for its layout. (Reply from Any) (Posted by Leigh Rachal) (Starbase Geneva - Transporter Room 10 – Strategic Operations, Admiral Caladryll Sevant – 12:50) "Strategic Operations, Departing. Admiral on the deck." Sevant managed to wave a hand before the Officer of the Deck could punch a button that would sound a fake bosun's whistle. If there was anything a vulcan with superb hearing hated, it was the shrill whistle that for countless human generations had announced the arrival and departure of Officers. Sevant had very private, and very dark, ideas about what the Chief of Starfleet Protocol could do with that whistle recording. He wasn't sure it was anatomically possible, but he was willing to give it the old Meridian Academy try. "The Spectre has been requesting, and re-requesting, permission to depart for the last two hours Admiral." the Captain of Geneva said lightly. "Your package has been delivered to the Spectre." His companion dismissed the transporter operator and took the console herself. "My Flight Ops department is starting to open a betting pool as to when they'll call again. If you delay your departure 20 more minutes, I might win..." Sevant grunted sourly, his former crewmate's sense of humor left worlds to be desired. Come to think of it, a lot about her history and choice of friends left a lot to be desired, too. ~Ah well, it's an imperfect universe.~ "Unfortuately,l Captain Arianna, I'm afraid you're fated for disappointment." He turned to the other woman at his side. Her face was neutral, but he didn't need to see an expression to know what she was thinking. He hadn't for years, matrimonial telepathy in two telepathic species could be a useful thing now and again. He reached out and touched two of his fingers to hers, the only publicly acceptable vulcan form of familiarity. "My wife, I will be back as shortly as possible." "Yes, Cally - you do that." Her lip twisted slightly. "I'll need someone to find me fudge banana nutella dip sandwiches at three in the morning." "Great Hunter will provide," He said gravely, before an all-to-rare smile broke his typical visage. He clasped her hand, briefly, before stepping onto the pad. "Set the Spectre's mind at ease, flag her for departure immediately upon my arrival." "Aye, Admiral. Have fun." "Yes, fun - that is what I was going to ha-" His words were cut off as she impishly hit the control, and Geneva's transporter bay was replaced by the Spectre's. "Admiral Arri-" Sevant again waved, and the Chief was wise enough to shut up. Sevant -almost- had the Spectre's crew trained. Almost. (reply: none, yet) (posted by Trout) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 13:00) The Spectre had been waiting for departure clearance for a few hours... it was getting to the point where Remae was going to order the Spectre to depart with or without clearance. Once more he looked around. All of the senior officers were on the Bridge, waiting for departure or perhaps waiting to see what would happened when the Spectre attempted to break her own speed record. The idea of modular ship design wasn't new. The new ideas from Starfleet Engineering were simple. All ships could perform multiple roles and if the need required it, they could have new modules inserted quickly converting the ships primary mission to Explorer, Operations, Covert or Special OPS or as in this case, Interceptor. For himself, covering both Engineering and First Officer duties, Remae was at the aft Engineering panel, monitoring the warp drive systems... when the time came, the ship would have to reach and maintain warp 9.6 and that would need careful tweaking and monitoring. The simulations looked good, even exceeding warp 9.6 in some cases but by actually doing it would they know for sure. A giveaway crackle came over the communications system, someone had opened a channel directly to the Bridge... =^= Spectre, this is Starfleet Operations... you are cleared for departure. =^= Remae's Christmas Tree display board began to change, red lights were becoming green as the ship's systems went into departure mode. Across the ship, the crew were preparing their systems... the Spectre was disconnected from the base, moorings retracted and power lines separated. "Captain, the dockmaster has cleared us for launch.", he said looking at the viewscreen and as he did, the huge exterior doors began to open, revealing space outside the Starbase. The Engineering lights went green.... warp, impulse, thrusters were now available to the Bridge. "Engineering ready, Captain.", he reported and walked down to his chair for departure. (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - OPS Officer, Ensign Will Alexander – 13:05) =^= Spectre, this is Starfleet Operations... you are cleared for departure. =^= Will had been sitting patiently at the OPS station waiting for the clearance. In his past time on the Spectre or at least the memories he had of his past time on the Spectre, he had served as both OPS and CONN and the station was merged into one console. However in his current role he served only as OPS, there was a different office at the helm, and instead Will sat at a separate OPS station. He diligently monitored the ships systems to make sure all was well. Sensors were operating normal, and everything was in the clear. Though he was jealous. The Spectre was going to break, or attempt to break, her own speed record and Will wished he had been the one at the helm. "Captain, the dockmaster has cleared us for launch." Will heard the First Officer say. "Engineering ready, Captain." Will then took the first officers cue, did one last check of his console and systems. "OPS report captain, everything is operating in optimal conditions. All clear on our end." Will then patiently waited for the other departments to check in. (Reply from ALL) (Posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre - Bridge, CONN – Pilot Officer, Jennifer Smith – 13:08) Jennifer was existed to get going again and especially as she was going to try and beat the Spectre’s high speed record. She felt the thrill run through her body as she felt the engines start up. She received the clearance to departure and began to power up the impulse and manoeuvring engines and brought the warp engines up to ready stand by. She accessed the docking clamps and the mooring lines with her finger hovering over the release button. “Sir, Helm is ready. All engines are powered up and at ready stand bay. Docking clamps and mooring lines to be detachment at your command.” (Reply Ktell) (Reply Ktell, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge, Tactical Station - TAC/ASC, Ensign Wang - 13:09) "Engineering ready, Captain." "OPS report captain, everything is operating in optimal conditions. All clear on our end." Wang could almost feel the ship begin to come alive as she prepared to leave the base. This was it. He had just been familiarizing himself with the console before him, getting comfortable in his place on the bridge so he could set aside the apprehension he was feeling. He knew this would be an adventure, and it was important to make sure that he, just as the ship, was ready for anything. He’d done a quick read on all the computer knew about the briefing he’d missed, but he’d only had time for a short overview before his shift began on the bridge. Quickly checking all the system stats linked to his console, which mostly dealt with the ship's shields and weaponry, he ensured that everything was set and as it should be. Considering what he'd been told about the Tempest, the Spectre's defense and weaponry was likely to be of important use on this mission. “All tactical systems in order,” he announced. (Reply from ALL) (Written by Lawrence) (USS Spectre - Bridge – CMO, Lt Cmdr Andrew Williams – 13:10) Andrew stood at the back of the bridge beside the turbolift. He was here to see the Spectre fly and was looking forward to it but he was ready to vanish back to sickbay if needed. He was looking forward to getting going. He had had a great time with Jay and Alice. He would miss the Serenity and its crew especially having time to catch up with his sister. He pulled his mind back from his memories as he heard Yan Xu replying to the Ktell situation request and he then spoke up. “Sickbay is ready for any unforeseen incident.” (Reply Ktell) (Reply Ktell, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Bridge, Security Station - TAC/ASC, Ensign T'Solen Fairefield – 13:10) ?T'Solen cursed to h?imself as the bridge crew around him began calling out, ready for departure. They had been in a waiting pattern for hours, of course they were all ready for departure. If they had not been ready for departure, they wouldn't have been sitting here looking like they had jock itch and wanderlust. Sometimes, bridge protocol made him want to chew glass. He tapped another message on his console to the security team he had working on the shield emitter on Deck 10. :I don't care if you have to clean it with a toothbrush, get rid of that power variance - last time I'm telling you: :Yes sir,: came the emotionless text reply. The corner of T'Solen's mouth almost twitched. The ensign had said 'Sir', but the part-vulcan was pretty sure he'd pronounced it 'cur'. He loved it when his beloved crew-mates did that. The variance was well within standard operating levels, but the Marine and Engineer in him both demanded perfection from his weapons. They could kick a man out of the Combat Engineers, but it was impossible to remove the desire for a fully functional weapon from the man. If he couldn't have a suit of armor and a bag of goodies, he at least demanded a gun that would shoot and a shield that wouldn't draw a few kilojoules more energy than strictly necessary. Now all they needed was a full time Security Chief, Admirals who stayed in their quarters, and a few weeks of leave; and all would be right with the world. Sort of. Well, not really. But Ensign Fairfield was sometimes called a pessimist. "Navigational Shields engaged, all weapons on cold standby, Security board is green." he said in his neutral bridge voice at the proper time. ~There, I did my part as a cog in the wheel. Look ma, ain't you proud?~ (reply: any) (posted by Trout) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 13:10) “Sir, Helm is ready. All engines are powered up and at ready stand bay. Docking clamps and mooring lines to be detachment at your command.”, reported Pilot Officer Smith at the CONN. Other departments were reporting their readiness. The CO simply nodded at the First Officer and Remae ordered that all the lines were cleared. "Thrusters at station-keeping.", he ordered as the noise of the final attachments letting go rumbled across the hull of the ship. The Spectre was keeping her position. She was facing nose on in her docking bay and he rear end facing the outside doors. All around, other ships were doing alike but at this time, all eyes were on her. "Take us out but let's give everyone watching a good look at us. Turn us around and face us forward.", he ordered. In space, forwards, left, right, backwards had little meaning but the crew knew what he wanted... the Spectre was going out nose first. For all to see. Slowly, the ship turned around and headed towards the outer door which was already open for them. Moving out at a graceful speed. Not at impulse like so many others, rushing to get out... one of the oldest ships in the fleet, the one that had been through the civil war, made it out and keept on flying... the Spectre... was the graceful lady of the sky. She left Starbase Geneva with style, through the middle of the doors and out into space. "Full impulse.", Remae ordered and the ship began accelerating, "Put us on course for Starbase 39-Sierra.", he added and then opened a channel to all hands. "All decks, all divisions. This is the First Officer... the Spectre is about to jump to high-warp speeds... expect turbulence. We're not quite sure what to expect as a result, all decks, Yellow Alert." The indicators across all the screens switched to their new alert status, Remae watched closely as the crew went to their alert stations and for some, it meant leaving the Bridge and for others, it meant calling additional staff, checking department heads across the ship or simply altering the status boards. For Remae, it meant checking Engineering and the department heads were performing their jobs. (Reply Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre - Bridge - FO/CEO, Lt Remae Ktell – 13:20) It took no time at all, the ship was at Yellow Alert and all decks had reported in. "Very well. Ensign, ease the Spectre up to warp 9 and hold her there.", he ordered. Now it was time to see what the new Spectre's new interceptor configuration could do.
