He'd been listening to what everyone had been saying, and while most of it he didn't understand, he knew enough the best he felt he should say something. "Excuse me, Sir." He said, once there was a lull in the discussion. "I apologize if I am breaking protocol here, but if this situation has the possibility to go downhill, I am volunteering myself to go along in the shuttle. As the assistant security chief, this falls amongst my responsibilities." The stepped back, waiting for responses. He wasn't sure if he had stepped over the line here. Michael's impulsive behaviour often got him in trouble, and had cost him more than one position before. This didn't stop him from believing that when a person has the opportunity to help others, then they have a responsibility to go and do it. (Reply T'Vhor, Any) (Posted by Brandon) (USS Spectre – Conference Room – Ops, Ensign Will Alexander – 09:22) Will had been sitting patiently listening to the action plan being formed by the senior staff, it seemed risky, but he liked risky. "And the pulse itself", began the Captain, "it would need to be anything but a narrow focussed beam, powerful enough to hit the entire station at once. There could be no room for error here", "Sir," Will said chiming in, "The goal is to cause something large enough to hit the entire station at once, well, I think this is doable, but if we know the frequency of the psycho communications of the parasite, why not try and see if we can emit a blocker over an audio frequency. Sound can be pretty debilitating right, if we were to go in with audio dampening equipment for ourselves and then emit a high frequency sound across the sations internal communications relay, somthing so loud, sharp, and painful that wouldn't cause any lasting damage, but be enough to incapacitate the whole crew without causing permanent damage, at the same time having the parasite frequency embedded, it might be able to cover a larger area, since it would be broadcast over the whole station on an open channel, it should hit anyone not wearing anything resembling an ear plug." (Reply T'Vhor, Any) "I don't know how feasible it is, and Lt. Palmer and Commander Williams would need to help me design the signal so it incapacitates but doesn't leave anyone deaf or seriously hurt, but it would cover the whole station." (reply T'Vhor, any) "Either way sir, I volunteer for the Mission and to pilot the shuttle." (reply T'Vhor) (reply Any, TVhor) (posted by WB) (USS Spectre – Conference Room – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 09:23) "And the pulse itself", began the Captain, "it would need to be anything but a narrow focussed beam, powerful enough to hit the entire station at once. There could be no room for error here" As the discussion continued Ensign Alexander weighed in with another option- sound. "I don't know how feasible it is, and Lt. Palmer and Commander Williams would need to help me design the signal so it incapacitates but doesn't leave anyone deaf or seriously hurt, but it would cover the whole station." The ops officer finished. "If I may," Kurt spoke up "under normal circumstances sound would be a superb option." He paused and glanced down at the PADD in front of him. "However this particular parasite taps into the nervous system, and the crew will be less effected by external influences- i.e. Sound. I pose we reserve this as a second option though as it does have potential, maybe at a closer range." (Reply, any) "The beauty about an eps generated pulse is it has the ability to effect the nervous system and temporarily stun the parasite." (Reply, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Deck 4, Science Research Section - OPS, Ensign Will Alexander - 10:15) The briefing was over and it was time to go to work. The plan was simple yet not so simple. A small shuttle would go on ahead with a security detail, as well as Dr. Williams and Dr. Kirien. Will volunteered to pilot the shuttle. He wanted to be where the action was. Besides, if the plan that was brought forward by the CSO worked, having an OPS officer familiar with the workings of a Shuttle would be beneficial. They were going to try and figure out a way to develop a pulse that would be able to knock out those on the station so the Security team would be able to get to work quickly without much resistance. Will paced around the room, he was out of his element in the Science section of the Ship, but he knew ships systems, and that would help. But it would be a team job. He should have left it to the Second Officer and CSO to get the team together, but Will was eager to get to work, sometimes it was beneficial to keep himself busy and not thinking. He tapped his Commbadge. "Ensign Alexander to Commander Williams, Lt. Palmer, and Ensign Sorensen. Please join me in one of the labs of the Science Research Section on Deck 4. I think the four of us can figure out the EPS beam the away team will need. (reply Palmer, Williams, Sorensen, Any) (posted by Will Banowsky) (USS Spectre – Bridge – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 10:16) The science chief sat at his station on the bridge. He was starting work on the eps pulse by configuring a few key systems, but there was only so much work he could get done from the bridge. The comm chimed overhead. It was ensign Alexander. =^=Please join me in one of the labs of the Science Research Section on Deck 4. I think the four of us can figure out the EPS beam the away team will need.=^= "Impeccable timing! I will be right down." Kurt said tapping his commbadge. He reached up to the display in front of him to finalize what he was working on before standing and making his way to the turbolift. (Reply, none) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre - Sickbay – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:20) Andrew was looking over the patient records and updating the medical database. =^=Ensign Alexander to Commander Williams, Lt. Palmer, and Ensign Sorensen. Please join me in one of the labs of the Science Research Section on Deck 4. I think the four of us can figure out the EPS beam the away team will need=^= Andrew paused for a moment before answering. “No problem. I will be there as soon as I can.” He entered the information on the PADD that he was working on and logged out of the computer terminal. He nodded to Douwsy as he passed through sickbay. “I am going to the science research section. Comm me if you need me.” Douwsy nodded. “Yes Doctor.” (Reply None) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Science Research Section - CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 10:25) Andrew entered the Science Research Section he saw Alexander waiting for him and the others. “Okay Will where do you want to get started?” (Reply Alexander) (reply Palmer, Alexander, Sorensen, Any) (posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab – CSO/2O Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 10:29) Kurt strolled into his usual home aboard the Spectre- sciences. The doors to the research lab parted, revealing Dr. Williams had already arrived. The science chief grinned "welcome to my domain gentlemen." He moved closer to place his PADD on the counter in the center of the room. "So what's our plan?" (Reply, any present) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab – Ens. Will Alexander – 10:30) Will smiled as Lt. Palmer and Commander Williams entered the Research Lab. They were still waiting for ensign Soren, but time was of the essence and they needed to get started. "So what's our plan?" The CSO asked. Will walked over to a panel and brought up a simulation of the Starbase. "Here is a Simulation of 39-Sierra. I've pre programmed a little simulation of what could work." Will nodded to the two, then went forward with the simulation. He then pointed to a schematic of the Starbase, pointing to a specific spot on what would be the starboard side. "This spot right here, is a central EPS conduit. It acts as a sort of relay to other central nodes, that connect it to EPS conduits all throughout the ship. In theory, we might be able to use this conduit to send a cascade effect, allowing the debilitating signal to effect the maximum number of people." (reply Palmer, reply Williams, any) "The problem is, I don't know if it will work, and we would have to have the exact right frequency to hit the conduit in order for it to start the cascade, but I don't know what that frequency would be or if it is the best plan." (reply Palmer, Williams, any) "Any thoughts?" (reply Williams, Palmer, any) (reply Williams, Palmer, Sorensen, any) (posted by WB) (USS Spectre – Deck 4, Research Lab – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 10:31) Andrew watched as Alexander brought up the schematics of 39-Sierra and began to explain his idea. In theory, we might be able to use this conduit to send a cascade effect, allowing the debilitating signal to effect the maximum number of people." Andrew looked closely at the schematic at where Alexander had indicated and nodded. “Sounds reasonable what do you think Kurt?” He looked over at Palmer (reply Palmer) "The problem is, I don't know if it will work, and we would have to have the exact right frequency to hit the conduit in order for it to start the cascade, but I don't know what that frequency would be or if it is the best plan." Andrew nodded. “Well, the frequency is not a problem and we have that, my question is that will the cascade be wide spread enough to effect lot of people?” (reply Palmer, Alexander) (reply Palmer, Alexander any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Deck 4 - Outside the research lab - Ensign Michael Sorenson - 10:32) Michael was walking towards the reasearch lab. He had been summoned to take part in the upcoming mission involving Starbase 39-Sierra. On his way he had downloaded the starbase plans onto his PADD and had been trying to figure out ways to assist with the operation. He stepped through the door into the lab. "-bilitating signal to affect the maximum number of people." Ensign Alexander was saying. Michael took his place in the room and watched the presentation. As the presentation moved on to the EPS systems, he pulled them up on the PADD. "Any thoughts?" Ensign Alexander said. Michael waited, he had an idea as to how to secure the area after the EPS idea, but wanted to hear what others had to say first.
