Commander Grayjoy - 09:30) ================================================================= Mission: Stone Skipping Day: 12 Stardate: 2414.11.12 (USS Spectre - Conference Room - CO, Captain T'Vhor and TAC SC/ Lt Kerge - 09:02) There was a certain tension in the room today, not only because the ship, and perhaps the entire 52nd fleet and Federation were now facing jeopardy at the hands of a formidable and devious foe, but because a certain Lagomorph had once again escaped his cage and was loose on the ship again somewhere! Indeed, it was times such as this that T'Vhor questioned his initial acceptance of Mark when Jynea had departed, leaving him with what she had referred to as 'A bundle of furry fun', whereas in actual fact, caring for Mark had been anything but fun. The matter of the Rabbit though would wait for now, so long as it didn't chew through an important ODN conduit or something. As the CO perused the PADD before him though, the FO at his side looked pensive and had assembled together the most recent departmental reports for his attention. The phased cloak was working at optimal efficiency, Engineering reporting 'no problems' with their systems at this time. Security was on high alert of course, given the Admiral's recent gasket blowing event and his impromptu transfer off the ship, along with the heightened state of tension due to their recent dance with two their own after being deemed compromised by their own fleet! Of course, with Madon and her cohorts apparently on the offensive and with an upper hand to boot, it was no surprise that people were on edge. Matters were discussed promptly, their situation clarified. They were still en route to Starbase 39-Sierra, and although long range comms was confirming no problems there, the Captain was fully aware that the opposite might still be the case, considering the way in which Madon operated. "What is our ETA now Lieutenant Commander?", said the Captain, turning to the FO. (Reply Remae) The Captain nodded, and then turned his attention to the Security Chief, who looked stressed, if a Klingon ever could look stressed. "Lieutenant.", said the Captain, "do you have anything to add?" The Klingon squared his shoulders, and then exhaled heavily. It looked as though he was going to go into a full on rant about something, perhaps regarding his honour having been seriously tested or something, but instead reporting that his initial concern was 'That damned Rabbit', and the fact that it was occupying valuable time that could be being spent elsewhere. "Noted", said the Captain, wondering then if perhaps they should bait it's favourite location, which these days seemed to be the security department, with green vegetables or something. Kerge continued on... "I am assuming the worst at 39-Sierra, Captain and would like permission to assemble a team accordingly", he said stoically. "Perhaps a shuttle craft sent ahead of our arrival, timed to dock at the Starbase prior to the ship in order to properly asses the situation", he added. The Captain nodded again. It seemed a reasonable request, and he gave the Klingon the go ahead to arrange it. "Anything else?", he enquired, glancing about the room at each of those assembled. (Reply Any, ALL, IYW) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Conference Room – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 09:07) "Anything else?" Andrew looked over at T’Vhor as he finished the briefing and opened the room for question. There had been a lot to think about but this mission was crazy enough when they had been looking for a lost starship. He pulled his thoughts together as he spoke. “Sir from what I can gather 39-Sierra is a large establishment with a lot of personnel on it. There is no way of knowing if it has spread there or not before we get to the station. So it might be prudent to assume the station is fully infected. We would then need a way to incapacitate every one for inspection and quarantine as we can’t just phaser every one we meet.” He looked over at Michaella to see if she had any ideas. (Reply Kirien IUW) (Reply Kirien, any one) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre - Conference Room – CO, Captain T'Vhor - 09:08) The Vulcan hybrid CO pondered the CMO's suggestion of incapacitating the entire crew of Starbase 39-Sierra. It seemed a little overzealous, even for the Doctor, but as a senior officer, he deserved his suggestion answering, regardless of the fact that the Security chief himself had already suggested a forward surveillance team be sent in to assess the situation beforehand. "I'm not sure that that would be the most prudent route to be taking, Andrew", he began. "To fully incapacitate a station the size of 39-Sierra would not really be feasible, and besides, although we could dock manually, we still need station Ops to bring the docking port online" (Reply Williams, IYW) Kerge then grunted somewhere off to the side, no doubt to remind the Captain of his earlier plan to take a small team ahead of them in order to reconnoitre the lay of the land. The Captain nodded as though to confirm that plan. "I think we will go with the Lieutenants plan of taking a shuttle craft ahead of us.", said the Captain. "The ship will slow to Warp Five, One hour before our arrival.", he added, turning then to the Security chief. "You and a small team will take a shuttle ahead of us as planned, Doctor Williams will assist you in that." he added. Kerge nodded in response. It made sense that the man most likely to be able to detect whether anyone was infected, went along with them, and besides, a shuttle full of security officers might look a tad suspicious to say the very least. The Captain looked to Williams once again, awaiting any further input on that... (Reply Williams) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre - Conference Room – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams - 09:10) "To fully incapacitate a station the size of 39-Sierra would not really be feasible, and besides, although we could dock manually, we still need station Ops to bring the docking port online" Andrew nodded. He understood the complexities of the situation but it would have stopped anyone who was infected hopefully before they could raise the alarm. “Yes Sir I understand.” There was a grunt from Kerge before the Captain carried on. "I think we will go with the Lieutenants plan of taking a shuttle craft ahead of us." ~Okay this should be interesting~ "The ship will slow to Warp Five, One hour before our arrival." "You and a small team will take a shuttle ahead of us as planned, Doctor Williams will assist you in that." Andrew nodded. “Yes sir not a problem and I would like to have Dr Kirien with me as well. In case we run into any unexpected issues.” He looked over at Michealla before looking back to the Captain. (Reply Kirien, T’Vhor) (Reply Kirien, T’Vhor, any) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Spectre – Conference Room – CSO/2O, Lt.jg. Kurt Palmer – 09:15) The Captain addressed the senior staff, explaining the strategy once they reached 39-Sierra. A team would be sent via shuttle craft ahead of the Spectre. Dr. Williams weighed in on the plan, as well as Lieutenant Kerge. "The ship will slow to Warp Five, One hour before our arrival.", he added, turning then to the Security chief. "You and a small team will take a shuttle ahead of us as planned, Doctor Williams will assist you in that." he added. The Captain and The Doctor discussed logistics momentarily. Kurt took a moment to phrase what he was going to interject as the two finished hashing out details. "Sir." The science chief raised a finger, when the conversation settled. "Going out on a limb here, but on smaller crafts, there is a way of rigging the eps grid to send out a high frequency pulse which temporarily renders its crew unconscious. If we are able to A, make this happen on a large scale throughout a portion of the station, and B, tune the pulse to the parasites' psycho-communication frequency we could momentarily paralyze the station." He paused and looked down. "Provided it actually has been overtaken." (Reply, T'Vhor, any) ((Post by Cody)) (USS Spectre – Conference Room – CO, Captain T'Vhor – 09:17) After having put their plan of action on the table the CO had called for input on it, and a number of very good points had been raised. The CMO, Doctor Williams had suggested a station-wide 'knock out', just in case, and he had a point. The CO though had chosen to go with Kerge's plan of taking a shuttle in ahead of their arrival and assessing the situation that way. It was at that point that the 2nd Officer offered another alternative, his Science based acumen seemingly coming into play now. "Sir.", he said, raising a hand. "Going out on a limb here, but on smaller crafts, there is a way of rigging the EPS grid to send out a high frequency pulse which temporarily renders its crew unconscious.", he suggested, "if we are able to A, make this happen on a large scale throughout a portion of the station, and B, tune the pulse to the parasites' psycho-communication frequency we could momentarily paralyse the station. Provided it actually has been overtaken." he added. The Captain pondered that option. It seemed logical, but there were already questions forming in his head as to the safety of such a plan. If it worked, and there was no guarantee that it would, then they could effectively board the station and spend time examining the crew to find out if any infestation had occurred. If it worked on just some of the crew though, then a good portion of them would remain aware and then alerted of the fact that the Spectre was engaging in something nefarious. The beauty of the Chief Science Officers plan rested on the pulse knocking out ALL of the stations compliment. But could they guarantee that outcome? "Do we even know the frequency that the parasites communicate on?", he asked, directing his question at both the CSO and any of the medical personnel gathered there. (Reply Palmer, Williams, Kirrien, Any Medical) NRPG: Room for More here... RPG: The Captain listened intently, and then went on to the other matter of amplifying any pulse to such a level that it would knock an entire station out. "And the pulse itself", began the Captain, "it would need to be anything but a narrow focussed beam, powerful enough to hit the entire station at once. There could be no room for error here", he added. (Reply Any, All) Again the Captain pondered. Another idea had been put upon the table, but would it work? (Reply Palmer, Williams, Kirrian, Any Medical, Any, All) (Posted by Alan) (USS Spectre – Conference Room – CMO, Cmdr Andrew Williams – 09:20) "Do we even know the frequency that the parasites communicate on?" Andrew paused for a moment and scanned the information on the PADD in front of him. ~where is it….where is it…. Ah here it is~ He found the information that he needed and nodded to himself. “Yes sir we do have the frequency.” He paused for a moment before carrying on. “There is no way of knowing how much disruption it will cause when we effect it but hopefully it will disorientate them long enough.” (Reply any) "And the pulse itself", began the Captain, "it would need to be anything but a narrow focussed beam, powerful enough to hit the entire station at once. There could be no room for error here", (Reply Any, All) (Posted by Robbie) (USS Serenity - Bridge - CO, L.T. Commander Grayjoy - 09:30) Grayjoy looked at the stars in front of him. They were close to their goal as they transited towards Starbase 39-Sierra. The plan would be to get the jump on the Spectre and the Wraith when they showed up. They would appear to help until they were in a good firing solution and then if they could not board safely then they would destroy them both before they know what happened. But they needed get close to 39-Sierra without being seen so they were now flooding the Serenity’s ballast tanks with liquid which would then freeze. This would reduce the ships energy signature as well as powering down their other systems they would be able to get closer to 39-Sierra then they otherwise would. But first they needed to slow to impulse as this would reduce the stress on the tanks as they iced up. Grayjoy turned from the view screen which showed the star system they were in to McDonald who was overseeing the ballast tanks. “How long until we are ready.” The Engineer looked up from his console. “We are about 70 percent frozen another twenty to thirty minutes before its solid enough.” Grayjoy nodded. He wanted to get into position as soon as possible so that they would be ready. “Sir I have something strange from one of the kittens?” Grayjoy turned and stepped over to Perr'Mess. “What do you have Lieutenant?” “Well sir I am not too sure. Kitten 1 has anomalous blip on its sensors near the asteroid belt but it seems to vanish and then appear again. It’s very weak and I nearly missed it.” He looked closer at the screen and frowned. “What do you think it is?” She paused for a moment before speaking. “Sir I would think it’s a ship going dark hiding in the asteroids and we can see it as it happens to drift into view from behind an asteroid.” “Okay send four of the kittens in. I want to get whoever is spying on us.” Perr'Mess nodded. “Yes sir but my control will be limited due to the radiation fields the asteroid belt is producing.” “Understood do it any way. There can be not risk of any information reaching the Specter or Wraith before we get there.” He walked back to the command console after they had taken out the Specter and the Wraith they would meet back up with Madon and the Tempest as they began to infection of Starbase 39-Sierra. His thoughts were pierced by Perr'Mess urgent calling. “Sir I have just lost kitten 2 and 3.” He spun round. “What!” “Dam.” She cried sadness and pain in her voice. “1 and 4 has disappeared as well.” “Sir I have a ship appearing from the asteroid field.” Grayjoy glanced over at Pachakan who was at the tactical console. “Is it the Specter?” He glanced back at Perr'Mess as he headed over to Pachakan. “I want the remaining kittens between us and that ship.” “Yes Sir.” He looked at the information on Pachakan’s console and frowned. The ship that was heading toward them was not the Specter or the Wraith. It was far too small for a Specter Class starship. “Sir we are being hailed from it.” “On screen Grayjoy turned to see the face that appeared on to the view screen. He gave a soft sigh and shook his head. “You know Jay it would have been nice if you had just died.” (Reply Jay) (Replay Jay) (Posted by Robbie) =================================================================
