Commander Jerome 'Hoss' ManyHorses

He is tall with angular, rugged features, pleasant looking but not handsome and has long glossy black hair that is kept to a length just past his shoulders and tied back or braided when on duty' he always has the sides braided to keep his hair tidy and off his face. On his left cheek he proudly bears a black geometric tattoo that denotes him as being a medicine man.
Jerome is a full blooded Ne-hilawe- from the plains; people who refer to themselves as Cree for the English and French speaking peoples of Canada. Skilled buffalo hunters and horsemen, the Plains Cree were allied to the Assiniboine and the Sioux before encountering English, Scottish (especially Orcadian) and French settlers in the 16th century. The origination of the word �Cree� had stemmed from the short form of a cross variation of the Ojibwa word �kistanowak� (people of the north) and the Jesuit equivocal word �kristinue�. This led to them being called the �kris� (Crees). Around his neck he always wears a small medicine bag that he keeps tucked away in his tunic, and which he considers to be sacred.

Usual grade schooling, then college & university where he studied biology and psychology and majored in Xenobiology.

His parents Louise and Arthur and his older sister Dawn and her family, all live on the Sweetgrass First Nation reservation in Saskatchewan. He has a younger brother Edwin who left the reservation to join the RCMP and twin nephews, Joseph and William.

Born and raised on a reservation in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is a shaman for his tribe, as was his father and his father's father etc. going back to at least the 15th. Century. After University, he joined Starfleet to satisfy his desire to see new worlds and races.

After training at the Academy, Hoss was assigned to the USS Saratoga as their Chief Counselor. During the civil war field promotions brought him to the position of First Officer under Captain Alfred Shanks. He was promoted to the rank of Commander when given the temporary captaincy of the USS Boudicca for a 'first contacts' mission, due to his specialization in Xenobiology and previous first contact experience. When the mission was over he requested a transfer to the Boudicca, relinquishing his first officer status to become the Chief Counselor, Counseling being his best loved occupation in Starfleet.

Archery, music, horse riding, hang gliding, swimming, canoing, fly fishing, hiking, observing wild life.

Plays an Indian Flute and accoustic guitar. Is an expert horseman and used to ride the broncs and bulls in the rodeos.

Jerome is friendly and outgoing, but has strong principals. He will fight for what he thinks is right if talking things out does not work. He is a medicine man skilled in natural healing remedies.

Recently was flung almost 5 years into the future from 2409 to 2413 together with his shipmates, so he is biologically 37 but chronologically 42.
