History, Education and Skills
Family and Background :

Deirdra comes from a family of two children. Herself and her younger brother Imast. Imast decided at an early age that he wanted to take part in a discovery voyage and he was cryogenically frozen and sent on a deep space colonization mission at the age of nine. The Eistal family mourned the loss of their nine year old son almost as if he had gone to his death because they would likely never see him again during their natural lives. It had been a hard decision for Jerry and Lane Eistal to allow their nine year old son to pursue his dream that he so passionately craved. Eventually they finally consented. Deirdra was so grief-stricken when her playmate was gone, her brother was only three years younger than she, and the two of them had gotten on well as children. Imast's telepathic abilities were of a normal to high level and he'd often helped her out in the telepathic society so that she could interface normally with them. And so when Imast left it was almost as if Deirdra had lost an appendage, she now was having to find her way in a telepathic society without the help of her brother. Deirdra's telepathic relations with her family were of a normal level, simply because she was accustomed to dealing with them but it was outsiders that she had issues dealing with.

Education

:

Deirdra attended grammar school, and high school on Betazed, she then applied to the Betazed medical school where she furthered her study of anatomy. She was always fascinated by the partial records that existed of her mother's pregnancy and was consistently trying to seek out the reason for her telepathic abilities being what they were. She found Exobiology fascinating and soon began to discover the anatomic and psychological differences between different races and she found this simply fascinating. Deirdra went on and graduated from medical school with first class honours.

Pre-Starfleet History

:

Deirdra's decision to apply to Starfleet was not an easy one to make. Much like her brother, she had often dreamed of exploring the galaxy but she did not have the same zeal and drive for it that he had shown at nine years of age. After his departure to some unknown place, she became rather sceptical of leaving. She had seen the effects his loss had on her parents and she knew what feelings of her own that they had evoked. As a result, she waited two years after graduation and she opened a practise on Betazed, but the truth of the matter was that she was simply not happy. She wasn't able to use her through knowledge of exobiology and exopsychology because the majority of people that came to see her as their doctor were Betazoids. It was dealing with the same issues over and over again. Deirdra went into a state of semi-depression as she saw the same cases of the phase day in and day out, nothing changed. She wanted something new, something adventurous. And so she sat her parents down and explained to them her choices, and shortly thereafter, left for Starfleet Academy.

Starfleet History

:

After Graduating from the Academy Deirdra was assigned to the USS Linstalt and they were on an exploration mission when they suddenly received a distress call from a nearby planet. It seemed that a vessel had crashed on the planet surface and there were only three survivors, and several life signs that unstable. The Linstalt altered its course and went to the planet. A team of fifteen doctors and several security personnel beamed down to the planet to investigate. A top-secret Klingon science vessel had crashed on the planet and most of the crew had been killed or fatally wounded upon impact. There were only three survivors from the disaster, all were six years old, Klingon and Triplets. V'Tral, B'EtaK and V'Staq of the House of De'Ktor were found under some deranium plating having somehow miraculously survived the crash with only surface abrasions and some bruising. Deirdra was the first to discover the children and she brought them to safety and ensured that they were physically alright. However, their parents had both died in the crash. The crew of the Linstalt contacted Qo'noS in order to see where the next line of relatives were. However, the Klingon homeworld and imperial council completely disavowed any knowledge of the house of De'Ktor or the science vessel. They would not accept the triplets and refused to grant them citizenship under Klingon jurisdiction. And so the Linstalt crew were stuck with the three Klingon Children. Deirdra had always loved children, and she'd found Klingon's especially fascinating, their culture was so rich and proud. She was considering playing a role in raising them, however, when the Captain announced that they were going to split the children up and send them to families that were willing to take one child only, Deirdra protested. She remembered all too well the feeling she'd had when her brother had left to peruse his own destiny. At that moment she was sure, she would take the children with her, all three of them. Deirdra along with Klingon children were transferred to the USS Nimitz on Stardate 2405.03.21.

Medical History

:

Deirdra suffered a puncture wound to her left lung when V'Staq got angry with her two years a go and threw a D'k Tahg across the room. Luckily she was close to sickbay and the injury was treated. That was the reason that the 'on the wall' rule for ceremonial weapons was instituted and enforced to its full potential. There is also still the mystery surrounding her mother's pregnancy and how that has lead her to have intermittent telepathic abilities.

Skills

:

Deirdra is telepathic but her abilities aren't as proclaimed as the usual telepaths, there is some mysterious things that surround her birth but it was not documented well due to the fact that her physician had a mental breakdown in the middle of her mother's pregnancy all that doctor's patients were passed to another doctor. Because of the initial doctor's condition and constant bouts with stress he had done a less than adequate job of recording all the anomalies that were occurring with Deirdra's mother's pregnancy, as a result, Deirdra's telepathic abilities are somewhat lessened from the rest of her brothers and sisters.
