History, Education and Skills |
Family and Background |
: |
Aleksander Stolev was born and raised in Moscow. His parents are both concert musicians, but Stolev never displayed as high a level of aptitude for music, although he is proficient on the piano having taken several years of lessons. He is very interested in family history, and it was reading about an ancestor who had served in the KGB that provided the impetus for applying to Starfleet as a security officer. |

Starfleet Academy - 4 years
Starfleet AWT (Advanced Weaponry Training) - 2 years |
Pre-Starfleet History |
: |
Stolev lived in Moscow until graduating from secondary school at age 18. |
Starfleet History |
: |
Stolev's first assignment was as a security officer aboard the USS Discovery. He was injured in the line of duty during an attempt to rescue the original Cochrane Research Facility from plummeting into the atmosphere of the planet it was orbiting. After spending several months recuperating on Earth, he was reassigned to the USS Nimitz, where he served as assistant tactical/security chief. He spent over a year aboard the Nimitz before again being injured in the line of duty while on Betazed, requiring extended rehabilitation at Starbase Geneva. Having recently been discharged with a clean bill of health, he was reassigned to the USS Boudicca as assistant tactical/security chief. Upon the departure of the Boudicca's incumbent tactical/security chief, Stolev was appointed chief and promoted to Lieutenant Commander. After serving with distinction, Stolev was given the additional appointment of Second Officer. Then, after the departure of Captain Sevant, he was promoted to full Commander and appointed First Officer under the new CO, Captain Rivers. |
Medical History |
: |
Stolev has a history of head trauma, dating back to his days in secondary school. He sustained a serious concussion at that time as a result of an accident while in school. Another serious concussion sustained in the line of duty caused him to forget all intermediate events and he thought he was in back in secondary school again. Thorough therapy and specialized medical treatment on Earth, he was able to regain his memory. As a side effect of his treatment, his synaptic patterns have been altered and his mental self-control strengthened. This makes it difficult for telepaths to discern his thoughts when he is at ease, and makes it almost impossible if he is actively trying to prevent it.
A separate incident on Betazed resulted in further medical treatment and rehabilitation at Starbase Geneva.
In addition to these incidents, Stolev is an alcoholoic. Though his alcoholism is currently under control, and he has been sober since before his current assignment began, it continues to be a battle that he wages daily with himself. |
Skills |
: |
Stolev has studied a variety of martial arts in his time, as well as having a proficiency in all the standard Starfleet weapon types. He also has a knack for electronics; he once took a low power welder and rewired it to fire a high energy phaser beam during an away mission. His is proficient in small-arms combat tactics, starship weapon systems, and unarmed combat. His specialities are in investigation, espionage, and interrogation. |

Hobbies |

Stolev has always been facinated with military history. One of his ancestors was a fairly prominent member of the old KGB, and no fewer than a dozen of his ancestors have died defending Russia against invaders, from Napoleon and Hitler to Khan Noonian Singh and the Borg.
Stolev possesses a sizable collection of antique weapons and firearms, many of which were owned by his various military ancestors.
Stolev also enjoys classical music as it reminds him of his family. |
