Daniel is on the muscular side of an athletic build, which he maintains with intensive regular exercise. He strives to maintain his strength, endurance, and flexibility each in equal measure. He keeps his straight blond hair just short of medium length. His most striking feature, and the one strangers seem to first notice, is his piercing blue eyes, which seem to shift hue slightly depending upon his mood at the moment |
History, Education and Skills |
Family and Background |
: |
Daniel ("Dan" to most who know him; D.J. to his closest friends) was born in the small town of Whitehall, New York, United States. Third of three boys, he has one younger sister. His father, grandfather, two aunts, and his older brothers were all Star Fleet officers, all still serving, all tactical officers aboard various starships. All except his grandfather, who was an engineer now retired from active service. Dan is single, not yet devoting time and effort for any serious relationships. He has kept very busy with his schooling, career, and most of all his family, with whom he maintains close ties. |
Education |
: |
Clydebank University Accelerated Engineering Program (2 years)
Utopia Planitia Reactor and Propulsion Advanced Program (2 years)
Cochrane Institute Advanced Warp Design Program (2 years)
Utopia Planitia Yards Modular Propulsion Program (Internship, 2 years / Journeyman Engineer, 2 years)
Starfleet Academy (4 years) |
Pre-Starfleet History |
: |
He was gently pushed toward a career in Starfleet, and more strongly pushed toward the tactical branch. His disinterest and outright resistance were met with some consternation among the family, but ultimately his choice was seen to be precisely that: "his". Inspired by his grandfather who was and is very much his role model, Daniel pursued advanced education in the engineering field. He opted to remain on the civilian side of it for quite some time. After several years working so closely to the fleet, the pull became irresistible, and he applied for admission to Starfleet Academy, succeeding on his first attempt |

Medical History |
: |
No known medical issues, save a large scar on his left thigh. As a young adult he was hiking in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, alone, and took a bad fall off a ledge. He sustained a compound fracture to his femur. The injury was treated and healed normally; he opted to keep the scar as a personal reminder of "what not to do" as he explains to anyone asking about it. |
Skills |
: |
Daniel is both a naturally talented, and well trained engineer. His resolution to a given problem tends to be practical and logical, with occasional flashes of intuitive and clever innovation.
His tactical skills are polished, and better than average given his near constant immersion in the field since childhood.
He is a skilled pilot, holding type ratings in various small craft. |

Other Information |
Hobbies |
: |
Daniel is an avid and skilled hiker, survivalist and outdoorsman. He enjoys reading, listening to music, and model building. |
General Notes |
: |
Daniel is generally personable, outgoing, and easy to get along with. He can sometimes seem disengaged or disinterested, but that merely means he is processing the particular conversation. He is an attentive listener, confident in his own abilities *almost* to the point of arrogance. He is, however, a "student of the game" and actively pursues knowledge in all its forms. He is rarely happier than when given a puzzle to solve, or a lesson to learn. |

Admiral Bell threw her arms around the Ensign, "You don't have to be scared anymore, you don't have to be guilty anymore, you are not responsible for what that madman did to you.", she said to her quietly and for a moment longer, releasing her from the embrace. "It's going to take time, its going to be a toll... I will be right here, and I am not going anywhere."
