Family and Background |
: |
Marianne was born into the Doirsto shipping family, growing up on the old Earth colony of Hazul outside of the capital city of Colrinda. She had two older brothers, one younger. As the only daughter, her mother tried to get her daughter into supposedly feminine activities, but Marianne was more interested in climbing through the guts of the ships and seeing what made them work. At twelve she started her tech apprenticeship. By sixteen she was serving aboard the family's fleet's second largest ship in her journeymanship. At eighteen she met and married Yusi Yelick, a handsome and charming pilot. The two had two children together before Yusi left her parents' employ and asked her to come with. At twenty, their ship's drive failed and they were rescued by a Federation ship. While being repaired, the duo of ships were attacked by a pirate syndicate, the vastly outgunned Starfleet ship defending the rippled Doirsto vessel. Managing to chase off the bandits, the two ships did enough repairs to limp to the nearest base. With her marriage already in shreds from stresses of family obligation warring with a husband she rarely saw and being effectively a single parent, Marianne threw everything to the winds and tested to join Starfleet.
Surprised at her success, she immediately accepted her chance at the academy and filed for divorce with the Hazul government. Yusi fought for custody when he pointed out that Marianne would be off-world, on off-world ships, and never knew where she would be asigned and surely couldn't keep two children on a military vessel. Even with Starfleet assistant, Marianne lost custody to her husband. He later remarried to a woman named Suria, a woman that Marianne grew found of and the kids accepted as a second mom.
Marianne spends as much time as she can with her family, but with a now sixteen year old son and a fourteen year old daughter she doesn't seem often enough, relations are strained. |

Admiral Bell threw her arms around the Ensign, "You don't have to be scared anymore, you don't have to be guilty anymore, you are not responsible for what that madman did to you.", she said to her quietly and for a moment longer, releasing her from the embrace. "It's going to take time, its going to be a toll... I will be right here, and I am not going anywhere."
