Being the second oldest in a family of five children was no walk in the park for Joshua. Having to always deal with constant and unforgiving sarcasm and out of luck circumstances, the family problems wound up going through him before anything ever had gotten settled. The family is something he does not really bother to talk about as he never really sticks around for anybody to ask. If he ever was in that position, his first reaction is to move on to other topics of conversation, trying to persuade the others participating to talk about current news of their lives and the Federation. He has had one love of his life. She left him when he had chosen to join Starfleet, hoping he would change his mind. He has felt bitter about her ever since, and tries to avoid any communication with his ex-wife and his family. Joshua left the family when he was about nineteen years old, in search for what he really was supposed to do with his life. He spent time among friends from his home town in what was supposed to be the journey of a lifetime traveling all over the continent of North America in what was the fabled United States of America so many years ago. Winding up in San Francisco was never a part of his grand plan for his life but it would have to do. By the age of twenty one, he had a wife and two children in what was considered a very rough relationship by the standard. Josh and his wife never had gotten along with each other after their children were born, and no matter what the effort he put into the relationship, it was never enough for her, and eventually led into a divorce. The only communication that he does have with his family are biweekly subspace communications between his son and daughter.

Education

Starfleet Academy was just the beginning for Josh. Although the traditional courses did him well, he chose a primary course training for Command and Operations assignments to fulfill a life long dream for command, whilst dabbling in the science and physics departments. Command and Sciences are his primary fields but due to the ever present, old fashioned farmer in him (and his injuries to prove it), he studied a small portion of Starfleet Medical medicine.

Pre-Starfleet History

Joshua spent some time on various cargo ships running supplies and goods between Earth and various Federation starbases, giving him an upper hand in Command management and winding up in command of his own small cargo vessel running his own operations. This experience led on to the tingling idea of joining Starfleet Academy and to try his hand in a Starfleet career. He spent a great amount of time studying the command hierarchy and the various departments that Starfleet has to offer.

Medical History

Joshua walk with a slightly noticeable limp in his left leg. An unfortunate accident back on Earth when one of his fathers antique machines dropped out from a lift and onto his left leg. Having the opportunity to fix the problem with Starfleet medicine, he chose not to in order to preserve who he is. Otherwise he functions normally in almost any scenario. The leg gives him a widely noticed anger streak when it starts to cause problems in the presence of others.

Skills

Joshua's abilities seem limited to that of the unknowing individual. His primary skills lean more toward proficiency with starship navigation, and record time Phaser Range scores. Joshua has the knack for determining the next move from his opponent and a great apt for piloting starships without much help from the ships navigational sensor arrays.
