Doug had no intention of joining Starfleet; he was comfortable and happy in his job as a personnel officer for a large engineering firm. The Civil War changed things. He felt duty bound to help, rather than stand aside helplessly. He applied as was accepted to the Academy, graduating just as the war was drawing to a close. He saw a brief bit of combat at the MDP, aboard his first vessel. |

As listed above, he saw a limited amount of combat at the close of the MDP campaign. After that, he served on three different vessels, as OPS/Conn on all of them, serving efficiently. |
