Family and Background :

Grew up in a loving and secure family. Father is Prof of humanities at Cambridge university. Mother is home maker and author of children's holo novels. Has one older brother, Robert, who is following their fathers footsteps into academia.

Pre-Starfleet History

:

Ava excelled in gymnastics and equestrian events. A keen polo player and Parkour enthusiast. There is still a cabinet in the McGregor family home that proudly displays Ava's many trophies. Richard McGregor, Ava's father, is widely respected in the federation academic community. He rarely travels off world and as a result the McGregor family home has played host to some of the most prominent and influential thinkers of the day. Everyone from Vulcan ambassadors to Cardassian philosophers have enjoyed the McGregor hospitality.

Starfleet History

:

Academy: Ava's social circle was wide and she had many friends. Despite a hectic social calender Ava was motivated and ambitious, always acheiving placment within the top 5% of her classes. Her only Achilles heel turned out to be piloting. Ava failed the basic pilots exam five times. One record she does not have any pleasure in holding. During the Academy Ava developed an unlikely friendship with a Klingon female, introducing Lanista to the delights of Parkour they founded the Academy's first Parkour team and in their final year were placed first in the Terran championships. Unfortunately due to Starfleet duties they were unable to take their success any further. Ava's final assessment was taken under the infamous Lieutenant Kenichi Takano. Such was his command of the simulation Ava did not know she had passed until she received her orders for her first assignment as ensign (jg). She remains one of the handful who passed the final assignment under her own merit.

Admiral Bell threw her arms around the Ensign, "You don't have to be scared anymore, you don't have to be guilty anymore, you are not responsible for what that madman did to you.", she said to her quietly and for a moment longer, releasing her from the embrace.
