Character Physical Description

Megan Tallos

Eyes : Green Weight : 130 LBS
Hair : Brown Skin :

Pale

Height : 5' 6 Blood : Red
Thin and without a tan, Megan looks to have been stuck in a lab for too many hours, which isn't completely untrue. Her brown hair is slightly wavy and reaches her upper back. During work she either keeps her hair in a pony tail or up in a bun to keep it out of what ever she is doing, off hours she tends to keep it down.
History, Education and Skills
Family and Background :

Third of three children, Megan vied for the attention of her parents like most children do. She had a happy childhood, and aside from the normal sibling rivalry gets along with both her brother and sister quite well.

Education

:

A natural at languages, she was fluent in four by the time she graduated high school. While she couldn't really ever see a career in languages (nor did she really want to make a career out of it), she loved science and molecular biology in particular. She attended Oxford and received her undergraduate degree in both Biology and Linguistics. She quickly applied, and was accepted into a Graduate program at Harvard, and furthered her education there. To say that she fell in love with school is an understatement, and by the time she joined Starfleet later than most, she had received Doctoral degrees in Molecular Biology, Virology and Infectious Disease, Genetic Epidemiology, and Cellular Biology, as well as a doctoral degree in Linguistics, just for fun. By her start date at Star Fleet Academy, she was fully fluent in 12 languages besides English, and passable in another five.

Pre-Starfleet History

:

Megan has spent most of her adult life in either a lab or a classroom. As any good Post Doctoral Fellow, she has published many a research paper. and has learned the perilous world of the grant. While she can be quite stubborn and assertive in the lab or lecture hall, outside of these bastions she tends to be quiet and reserved, and while a career in Starfleet has forced her to be more assertive in general, unless the job at hand absolutely requires it, she tends to remain quiet.

Skills

:

Megan is at home in the lab, after a decade and a half of near constant lab work, she has learned to adapt herself to new set ups quickly, and after a similar decade and half of conserving grant money is adept at fixing common lab equipment, however that is where her mechanical skills end. She is a superb scientist and still and avid student, immersing herself in whatever research she is doing. Her scientific expertise while great is limited to the fields she holds her degrees in, and while she understands the necessary aspects of chemistry and physics for a biologist and a Star Fleet Science officer, they do not hold her interest for very long, if at all. Her only other useful skill is her faculty with languages, she is a natural linguist and has a knack for picking up new ones with a minimal amount of study and time. If Science is her job, then languages are her passionate hobby. She attempts to learn as many as possible, and prides herself on using her Universal Translator as little as possible. Outside the realms of science and language, her abilities drop off drastically. She barely passed her phaser qualification and as such loathes the devises something fierce. Her mechanical aptitude extends to the limited number of devises she uses in her lab on a regular basis, and only to the point of keeping them running until she can afford a repair.

Admiral Bell threw her arms around the Ensign, "You don't have to be scared anymore, you don't have to be guilty anymore, you are not responsible for what that madman did to you.", she said to her quietly and for a moment longer, releasing her from the embrace. "It's going to take time, its going to be a toll... I will be right here, and I am not going anywhere."
