History, Education and Skills
Family and Background :

Harper grew up in a family with his mother, Julia and younger brother, Tom. His father had disappeared shortly after Tom's birth and didn't bother to come back until his sons were old enough to think for themselves to take them off to galavant about the galaxy with him. Harper had been fifteen then and Tom ten. Tom, still young and stupid, had gone off with his father leaveing Harper and his mother to stuggle alone. News of a collison which had killed both Tom and Harper's father came back to Norm and Julia only months after they had left. Hearing that her son had died broke Julia's heart, and eventually killed her too. Norm left to live with his best friend, Bertoni "Toni" Luzzatto and his family until he was old enough to enrole in Starfleet academy. Toni and his parents are the closest thing Norm has to family and and Tony still stay in touch.

Education

:

Harper spent one year at UCLA before deciding he didn't like the enviornment and left for Starfleet Academy.

Pre-Starfleet History

:

Harper began life wanting to be a boater. When he was thirteen he got a kayak and went out often with Tony. Harper was fast and skilled on the water and often found himself involved in friendly rances with strangers. As a birthday present one year, Julia had recieved a Boston Whaler and upon her death she left it to Norm to do with as he would. He refused to get rid of it and went out often with Tony on various errands. Norm also found himself in a number of fist brawls and spent much of his young adult life as an angry young man. But what he really loved was to build, and instead of entertaining himself with violence he began tinkering with various odds and ends to see what he could come up with, thus curbing his taste for fighting.

Medical History

:

Harper, although he isn't known for being so, has been careless in the past and caused quite a serious mechanical explosion. He was very lucky to come out alive. His body was pinned under an extremely large and really heavy peice of machinery. His right lung was damaged slightly and his left knee was destroyed. He got it fixed with some cybernetic implants to aid in his walking.

Skills

:

Norm loves to work with his hands and catches on really fast. As long as someone is there to guide him along the first few tries he can do whatever he puts his mind to, but that doesn't nessesarily mean he will put his mind to it. Harper is easily bored, and though, like everyone, he enjoys a nice rest once in a while he likes to have the choise of doing something. He never keeps a schedule, although he is very dependable. When he says he'll do something he does it. He would much rather live for today since he isn't quite sure if he'll even be alive tomorrow.

Hobbies :

The holodeck comes in handy for simulating the ocean for kayaking and boating. He also enjoys sitting down after a long day of work with a cup of coffee or some alcoholic beverage and just talking to a friend.
