“We need a game plan,” Quinna suddenly said, her voice full of righteous
conviction. “It is time to end this and clear you.”

Michael laughed and pulled Quinna to him. “That’s what I love about you.
You’re an all in kinda gal. You’re right, we do need a plan, but we still
need more information. And I need to know who’s behind all of this. These
are not random, coincidental acts.  They are well thought out and well
planned. Perhaps years of planning. And if my  investigation is right it is
all coming to a head here, on Starbase Freedom. And soon.”

“I think when the Illuminar arrives, we need to move to the ship,” Quinna
added, “at least move this data rod to the ship.  You have a more secure
place onboard.”

Michael shook his head, “No. I’m not going to put the ship or anyone else
in jeopardy. These people will stop at nothing for their agenda.  Do you
really think they’d not consider destroying a whole starship?  No, right
now we’re on our own.  As far as anybody is concerned, I am the last, and
now you.  At this point nobody else is in danger.”

He didn’t want to say it but right now he was no longer Lt. Michael Weston
of the Illuminar, he was now Michael Weston, SFI operative.  He had to
operate on that premise if he wanted to keep them both alive.

He could see Quinna wanting to argue but she didn’t.  She moved on to her
next point.  “Now that we are daily certain that the explosion was not
about you, perse, we can focus on this woman and getting cleared.  I still
want to keep Trei and Taylor on the explosion.  We cannot completely rule
things out.  Carir may not have any idea about why you are here, but that
does not mean someone else doesn’t”

Michael paused for a moment and his eyes opened wide, “Ariel!  She was with
me on DS 4 when I received the data rod.  She’s in danger.  And if Andy is
with her he is as well.  We need to warn them.”
