(USS Raptor - Deck 5 - Sickbay - FO Commander Sienna Verin & 2O Commander T’Mur - 0550)

Sienna had watched with baited breath on the bridge, then made use of Luma’s ability to do precision site to site transports and materialized outside sickbay before running in and staying against a wall, out of the way as the doctors worked. She had not been able to feel T’Mur, and there was a blank space still where her mate should have been. After they had attempted and failed to contact T’Mur with Temas and Luma, Sy had been sedated, to stop the psychic hell of not having her mate bond with her T’Mur.

Sy held her breath as Stev worked on T’Mur, trying to pull her back from the hand of death. Moments passed as Sy felt something inside of her snap, almost painfully, back into place. Darkness touched the edges of her vision as that place inside her filled with the light of the soul of her mate, warming the coldness that had held her in thrall for the last few days. She had been so lonely, consumed by the grief that was the loss of her mate-bond. She had to believe that T’Mur was still alive in spite of what her bond had been saying.

When Stev finally moved away from T’Mur, Sy had pushed her way in, and took T’Mur’s hand in her own, lacing her fingers through her mate’s cold ones and holding on as hard as she could. She had been weaned off the telepathic suppressants so that she could assist in locating her mate, not that she had been able to. This area of space was going to be studied by Starfleet, and she was looking forward to the reports - from a scientific standpoint.

Sy saw T’Mur’s eyes fluttering, and projected through the touch ::I searched for you, with Temas and Luma and I could not find you. I was so afraid. Please don’t leave me.:: So much emotion in her telepathic tone.

T’Mur took a deep breath. Her eyes opened and the light from the sickbay burned into the backs of her eyes. Then there was another pain, in the back of her brain. A flood of emotion poured into her.

The touch from Sienna had activated her telepathic connection with a dizzying immediacy. And now her brain was filled with her mates love and fear.

Sy very quickly freed one of her hands and shaded T'Mur's eyes from the brightness.

::I have never left you.::

Suddenly she became aware that she was no longer clothed. Her eyes finally focused on Sienna’s face and then she looked at Kyllee. “Why am I naked?”

Sy peered down at her mate as Stev stammered. ::Your heart ceased to beat. They had to resuscitate you.:: Her heart was pounding as T'Mur's eyes adjusted. She couldn't block pain the way vulcans could.

“Ahhh, yeahhh…,” the doctor replied, “I had to remove them to provide treatment for your cardiac arrest.”

T’Mur thought for a moment and then nodded, “That is an acceptable reason. Thank you Doctor.”

Sienna choked back a half laugh, half sob at T'Mur's response to the Doctor.

“I’ll leave you two alone,” Kyllee said as he went to check out the other patients.

::Sienna, there is a blank period in your mind. What has happened? Are you alright?::

::You are worried about me?:: Sy asked incredulous.

Figuring it was more important to get it over with than to protect her mate, Sy moved the hand cautiously shielding her mate's eyes to T'Mur's cheek, pressing her fingers into the spots of the meld. She could not initiate the meld, waiting for her mate to do so, Betazoid dark eyes meeting those of her mate.

T’Murs hands moved instinctively. She found the pressure points on the side of her mates face and pressed on, feeling the pulse of her blood. Their minds quickly began to wind around each other. It was a well practiced move that took seconds.

Sienna surrendered her mind to her mate. The last few days flowed between them. Sienna's collapse into Sekal's arms as Luma had screamed when the shuttle had slipped dimensions. The merge with Temas and Luma. Admiral Winters’ report that she could not sense them. The feeling of utter desolation without the living warmth of her mate. The shock that her mind had gone into without T'Mur.

::I needed two days of sedation before they woke me up. I knew you were not dead, but you were gone. I need you. You are my stability, and my reason for living. Never leave me again. :: So much fear in her. ::I can't live in the icy loneliness of pain. It was like shards slicing my soul. And Luma, she keened and sang and tried to find you.:: slow tears rolled down Sienna's face as she communed with her mate.

In the meld T’Mur didn’t just watch what happened, and hear Sienna’s words; she experienced each memory as if it were here own. She shared the raw emotion of loss , fear and pain. She shuddered at the cold feelings that had gone through her mate. She felt the loss and emptiness of missing a piece of her soul. A tear came to her eyes.

::Oh my love. I could hear Luma’s song. It was how I knew we were coming home. It was what kept me going. You had no such reassurances.::

She sat and dangled her legs off the edge of the table and pulled Sy into her loving embrace, still not realizing her state of undress fully.

“Oh my love, how can we do this?” she asked. “How can we do our jobs with this fear hanging over us?”

The meld broke between them, but the bond reasserted itself. She belonged to and with her mate.

“I thought maybe we could consult Temas and Luma as well as Sekal and his father. There has to be a solution and I believe we can find it.” Sienna had fitted herself against T'Mur, tucking her head under her mate's chin. “I don't know when they will release you, but I imagine not for a few hours.” Sienna looked at one of the orderlies, who brought a StarFleet medical gown over and laid it beside T'Mur. Sienna picked the gown up, shaking it out and draped it over T'Mur's beautiful body, regretfully covering it. ::You are beautiful. My shining star, my guide and my love. We can navigate this. Just please, goddess don't leave me.:: Sy was going to need counseling.

T’Mur lifted her mates chin up and kissed her gently, ::I will never leave.::

“Consulting Temas would seem a logical option,” she said in her most Vulcanesk voice as she shrugged on the gown. “Meanwhile, perhaps we should spend as much time together as possible.”

She looked at the garment she was now covered in and looked at Sy with a questioning look, “Why is this garment referred to as a gown when it is neither long, nor for a formal occasion?”

Sy snickered, “I have no idea. It is pretty ugly, I know, but I think it has purpose.” Sy hopped up next to T'Mur and laid her head on T'Mur's shoulder. ::You should rest. I will rest with you.::

T’Mur laid back, feeling the dull throb of her concussion as the medication she’d been given started to diminish. She pulled Sienna closely and closed her eyes, her mind relaxing as she fell asleep, allowing the mingling of their minds to give her some comfort.
