Mission: Soliloquy
Day: 6
Stardate: 2446.07.10

(USS Raptor - Deck 5 - Sickbay- FSXO, Lieutenant Tempest Grey Wolf-- 0610)

The spirit wolf sped ahead of her, moving from one rock outcrop to another
in a flash of brown and grey fur that stood out vividly from the deep snow
drifts and green tufts of pine and fir.

Tempest shivered as she followed, often breaking through the upper crust of
icy snow and her feet sank almost to her waist. She was wet and cold and
still he led her onward.

"Wa'ya stop, I can't keep up."

Her limbs were wooden from fatigue and cold, to the point that she feared
frostbite had settled in, perhaps it had.

The great wolf ahead stopped and turned its head toward her, its golden
eyes glistened with intelligence.

Its form wavered and shifted causing the landscape to blur, in its place an
old warrior lowered himself to his haunches and regarded her quietly before
speaking.

"It is not your time, girl who rides the wind. Your journey has hardly
begun."

"Hardly begun?" Her temper began to override the cold that penetrated her
with stinging barbs. She fought back upright. "I have gone through many
battles and fights, I've stood strong and tall for my ancestors and proven
my worth. And you say I have hardly begun? Why?"

The ancient warrior gave her the slightest ghost of a smile before
continuing. "You have nothing to prove wind rider, you have only to do. Do
not forget your task."

"To protect Commander Verin, I know. And what else?"

"That is enough." He stood smoothly to his feet. "She has much to do."

"What?..." But it was too late, the spirit had returned to wolf form and
bounded off.

She settled to her knees, forgetting the cold for a moment.

“I am fine, I need to check on everyone.”

Tempest rolled her head from side to side, realizing as she dis so that her
head was on a pillow and she was lying on the bed and not snow.

"Wa'ya!" The word came out of her mouth before she opened her eyes or
raised her head. She clamped her jaws shut as she noted she was no longer
in the dream but in sickbay.

She sucked in a deep breath, released it as she felt patches of painful
skin.

~Frostbite indeed.~ She settled back as Commander Solice started to take
control in medical.

Looking around she saw Ensign Piripi, sliding out of the bed she moved
toward her.

"Ensign, are you well?" She noted the woman's eye lashes move.

(Reply: Piripi, any)
